Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Hey everybody, Welcome to Good Morning Football, presented by Old
Trapper Beef Jerkey. It's Thursday, October second, Jamie hear at
All sitting alongside my golf partner Antio Today and our polos.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Ready to go play.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Eighteen before Thursday Night Football. Kyle Brandt is in New
York with Mike Garravolo and Kyle. We have a bit
of a philosophical conundrum coming up in the fourth segment
of this hour on Good Morning Football in the form
of survival Your.
Speaker 4 (00:34):
Thoughts all right?
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Yeah, if you're in survivor pools or eliminator pools, are
you still in it?
Speaker 5 (00:40):
If your team tied?
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Is the point of those pools to win the game
or just to not lose? We're going to hold court
right here. You should let your voice be heard. Let's
rock the boat. Let's start the show.
Speaker 5 (00:51):
It's good Morning Football, nothing like it.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
Welcome to Good Morning Football, presented by Old Trapper.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
Yeah, let's do it.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Second hour on a Thursday, which means we have a
lot of business to tend to throw down Thursday on
Tap News to get to quarterback situation in Cincinnati and
Cleveland to discuss.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
So let's get right to it.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Let's check in with Ian Rappaport, who before rap sheets,
our NFL Network insider without us this morning, I ask
you about your first topic of the day. I just
want to check in on you as a human. Kyle Brandt,
I feel like in his rants about the San Francisco
forty nine ers, last hour kind of came for the
insiders and he's like, Kyle Shanahan doesn't want to.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
Hear from you anymore. How do you feel about this?
Speaker 4 (01:44):
Welcome to my life. That's basically That's basically what it's like.
Speaker 6 (01:49):
And look like the forty nine ers have been very
outfront about some of the injuries, but sometimes bad things happen.
I mean, John Lynn said earlier this week that Rod
Perry would be questionable for tonight's game, and he's not.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Yep, There's been plenty of these.
Speaker 6 (02:04):
Listen, sometimes we can be the bearer of bad news.
That is just the life that has chosen us and
we all have.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
To live with that. And that's okay.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
I appreciate that rap sheet.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
At the Vikings game on Sunday in Ireland, the PR
guy actually told me in the third quarter, I don't
want to talk to you again because the offensive line
was such a disaster. That's just the nature of the
Beast at times.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
However, Yeah, welcome to it.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
Yeah, exactly what's going on in Tampa Bay and their
starting quarterback, a guy that we love to play watch
play so much because of his personality but also his talent.
Speaker 6 (02:31):
Yeah, it's basically been a game of operation for Baker Mayfield.
If it's not one body part, it's another body part.
Last week, the right bicep popped up on the injury report,
ended up barely practicing, and of course playing in the game.
Wouldn't be surprised if it's a similar situation this week.
It's not only the bicep, it's still the buy sep.
But it's not only the bicep, but it's also a
knee injury.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
For Baker Mayfield to not.
Speaker 6 (02:52):
Practice yesterday, if the Bucks would have practiced, which they
didn't because they have so many injuries. They basically have
so many injuries they have to like do a walk
through instead of practice.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
That is where the Bucks are still three and one,
still rolling.
Speaker 6 (03:03):
Bucky Irving, their starting running back, also deal with an injury.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
He's got a foot sprain.
Speaker 6 (03:09):
He's unlikely to play this week, which means Rashad White
probably becomes one of the top targets on the waiver
wire for Fantasy. My team is zero to four, so
everyone basically is a target. For the San Francisco forty
nine Ers, we mentioned them, Rock Perty already been ruled
out for tonight's game, still dealing with that turf toe.
Played last week, came back Monday, it was sore, was
(03:31):
not able to practice this week. He is out, and
that is not all. Juwan Jennings ankle and rib injuries.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
He is out.
Speaker 6 (03:39):
Ricky Pierso did with the PCL spring he is out.
So the guys on the field for the forty nine
ers tonight, good luck if you recognize any of them.
You certainly were not aware that they were actually playing
for the forty nine ers instead of other teams, but
that is why we watched the game. And then, finally
for the Washington Commanders, Jaden Daniel, their starting quarterback is back.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
No bad news here. He's dealing with the knee sprain.
Speaker 6 (04:00):
Missed two games, officially cleared by doctors full pert.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
Two has been yesterday. He is good to go for someday.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
So Baker Brock and jayden Ian Rappaport, thank you so much.
Let's continue down this quarterback conversation. It's time for Throwdown Thursday.
Three topics. You have to make a decision on the
concepts that I tee yup.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Let's begin with the Cleveland Browns.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
They announced this week that Dylan Gabriel would replace Joe
Flacco as their starter in a game against the Vikings
in London. Sanders shud Or Sanders then was asked questions
about this decision by the Browns, and Sanders silenced the
haters by remaining silent in a very strange move. Meanwhile,
Eagle star ride receiver A. J. Brown broke his silence.
(04:43):
There's a lot of silence in this explanation and explained
to cryptic tweet that he had about the Eagles. Let's
take a listen to how these two events went down.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
What are your thoughts on just remaining at that third quarterback.
Speaker 4 (04:59):
Locally? Anything to say about it?
Speaker 7 (05:06):
Sunday after the game, I let my frustrations boil over.
Speaker 5 (05:10):
I didn't speak to the media.
Speaker 8 (05:12):
I had a chance to correct my frustrations, and I
continue to let it boil over.
Speaker 5 (05:16):
That's on me.
Speaker 9 (05:16):
You know, I take full accountability on that posting that
my message on Twitter wasn't.
Speaker 8 (05:21):
Directing anyone in the building, my coaches, on my quarterback
uh and GM, nobody.
Speaker 10 (05:26):
You know, I guess can I take full accountability?
Speaker 3 (05:31):
Listen.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
I love AJ Brown like the next person, but this
is not him reading a book on the sideline. If
anybody has a candle to hold about the A. J.
Brown situation, I can't wait to hear it. But we
I mean, manti make a choice here is it?
Speaker 4 (05:41):
Chador agent, Well, I'll make it for you.
Speaker 8 (05:43):
Jay.
Speaker 7 (05:43):
I don't quite get chaudors thing. And that's something that
I don't personally resonate with. But something that I do
resonate with is what AJ Brown has had to say.
We all know about his frustrations as of late, and
I think he went on and expressed it on a
platform that a lot of people had access to, and.
Speaker 5 (06:02):
He's being a man about it.
Speaker 7 (06:03):
He's being a great teammate saying what the situation was.
Because based off of his little post, people had speculation
as to what relationship he had not only with his teammates,
but with his coaches, and he say hey, Matn, my bad.
Speaker 5 (06:14):
I made a mistake. I should have done it better.
I should have.
Speaker 7 (06:16):
Handled myself like a professional, and I didn't. So, Mike
g if I had to pick one, I would say
a J. Brown because I resonate with that type of
leadership and that type of choice, and yeah, that's that's
what I would do in that situation.
Speaker 5 (06:30):
So I got I got a J. Brown.
Speaker 11 (06:31):
I'm with AJ as well because I'm based here in
the Northeast, so the teams that I cover New York, Philly, Baltimore,
I do a lot of Eagles, and I've had to
be the person that said.
Speaker 10 (06:42):
Hey, I talked to people in Philly and no big deal.
Speaker 11 (06:44):
AJ Brown's reading a book on the sideline has nothing
to do with that. And AJ's poop poo. He posted
this on social media. No, that's not what you're thinking.
And then a couple of years ago, he and Jalen
are getting into it on the sideline. They're like, no,
that was a productive conversation here, like everything so we
sugarcoated and no, you're reading too much into it.
Speaker 10 (07:03):
In this case, A Brown could have done that.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
The Eagles could have.
Speaker 11 (07:07):
Done that, but no, AJ stood up and said, yep,
I was wrong. I was alluding to the fact that
and every time I hear from people in Philly also
about AJ Brown, it's like, this is not your typical
Devo wide receiver. Give me the damn ball because I
want to pad my stats. And he did say that
it's all about I can get this team going, I
can get this out I's going. I know I can help,
and I truly believe that because I've heard that repeatedly
(07:29):
about AJ Brown.
Speaker 10 (07:29):
So I appreciate him being honest yesterday.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
It's a good explanation, Mike better locker room scrum as
it said there at the bottom of the screen is
AJ Brown. It was clear it was concise, but Jamie
used the word interesting, and so I mean, that's not
even close. We've all been in this game a long time.
I don't think any of us have ever seen what
happened with Shador. I'm not clutching my pearls about it.
I know a lot of people are offended, and I'm
(07:54):
really not. It seems like a young player who was
trying to do something silly or asymmetrical.
Speaker 5 (07:59):
He's smiling the whole time. Maybe he's trying to make.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
Some sort of cerebral point about I have nothing to say,
or even when I say nothing, I still get criticized.
There's some problem in that, Like this is something when
you develop a relationship with the media over all the
years and all the weeks you have a joking relationship
with them. Well, it's week five of this first year.
You're still in your infancy. So I don't have a
(08:22):
real problem with this, other than I think it's very
strange performance art.
Speaker 5 (08:25):
It's very odd thing to do.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
I also think some people are triggered by this because
I think there's a general dislike for mimes, Like I
just don't think mins.
Speaker 5 (08:33):
I don't really care for mimes. I find them annoying.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
Years ago, I was walking through Washington Square Park in
New York City and a mime approached me, and I
wish I had pet for spray.
Speaker 5 (08:42):
I didn't want to be any part. They started like talking.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
To me, and it's just here and we're doing the rope,
and like I felt like the person was practicing their
craft on me. It's eerily reminiscent if you have children
when you go to Disney World and you know, Goofy
walks up or Captain Hook.
Speaker 5 (08:56):
It's odd that they don't talk.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
And you know, you watch Mickey Mousse and his movies,
he never shuts up, and then you find in me
doesn't speak. It's an odd dynamic their Mickey Mouse like
that's a legend. Some guy with white face in the
westernon Square Park I don't want to speak to. I
find it very off put in when you're talking to him, Mim,
You're like, God, I wish I could just be talking
to a clown right now.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
That's how bad it is.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
So I feel like miamiing in general, although it is
one of the classic arts, I think people see it
and they're like, ah, mimes, that's just my thoughts, Kyle,
to put it.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
Back in the avenue that we all live in.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
It's adjacent to being asked as people on television to
like do a segment with a mascot like this is
bad television. The mascot doesn't respond, and so it just
becomes like I'm just asking someone who will not respond,
like how do you see this interaction going?
Speaker 3 (09:40):
And the answer is poorly.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
So yeah, well, Jamie, you tapped on a couple of things.
I want you to work with the mascot. We've all
done it and then I want you to go out
in the tailgate and there's this guy who makes big
ribs here and you do a tailgate. Those are tough
segments to do. However, I'll put it in the concept
of good Morning Football. In twenty eighteen, we did something
where the punishment for whatever contest we had was you
had to go out to the Times Score and be
(10:02):
a mime. Wat's right here as I show you Emmy
Award winning broadcaster Nathaniel Eugene Burlison miming in Times Square
as Sean O'Hara and I watched from our Total Request
live studio. Again, the penalty for losing was that you
had to go Mine. It's not a fun thing to do.
Speaker 10 (10:19):
Pay attention to fantastic.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Because it's New York and no one wants to pay
attention to Mine. The best thing about them is they
know he's lossing Ash that was big back. Everyone was
backpack kid. So there's Nate and he doesn't Michael Jackson
and God bless him.
Speaker 5 (10:34):
But that's mining for you.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Wow, that's I mean, the fact that he just had
that video at the drop of a hat.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
Sometimes we can't get a highlight to show up, but
we have that video ready to roll from Good Morning Football.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
Well done, everybody perfect?
Speaker 4 (10:47):
Okay, I'm me a windstorm.
Speaker 5 (10:48):
Good for you.
Speaker 8 (10:49):
Got it.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
On the next topic, Dylan Gabriel was asked, now we're
going to say on this vein though of Cleveland quarterbacks,
if anything changes for him now that he's named QB
one ahead of the game in London.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
Take a listen.
Speaker 8 (11:01):
There's a lot of excitement. But with that excitement me,
it is just extreme focus, you know, and I've been
through weeks of prep and a bunch of them. You know,
if you go back, but you just continue to attacking
with your process and how you want to accomplish that.
But we have to come together and create momentum for
each other so that we can create positive plays, put
points on the board, and just take the one play
(11:23):
at a time.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
That's a great way to say that all the teammates
have to work together. The Browns are hoping that Dylan
Gabriel provides the spark a Lah Jackson Dart did for
the Giants last weekend and they beat the Chargers.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
It was all well and good.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
The Browns appeared to have been taking notes and they're
going to go with the rookie quarterback Mantie. Here's a question,
which quarterbacks start? Are you more interested in seeing this weekend,
Jackson Dart or Dylan Gabriel.
Speaker 7 (11:48):
I'm going to go with Dylan Gabriel, Jamie, and I'm
going to go at Dylan Gabriel because i feel like
when you look online, there's a lot of people that
don't believe in Dylan Gabriel. There's a narrative that Dylan
Gabriel doesn't he isn't good at football for whatever reason.
It's almost silly the way that people have talked about
this young and because of where he was picked and
what position he was picked in. It's like when you're
(12:09):
standing in a TSA line and as long as heck,
and then a TSA agent comes, removes the rope and
tells the person behind you, hey, you come with me,
and everybody behind him come with me, and you get
mad at the person now was standing behind you instead
of the TSA agent. That's what this dynamic has been
for me watching Dylan Gabriel kind of navigate this whole situation.
So if I'm going to be watching anybody, I'm watching
(12:29):
Dylan Gabriel, and I'm very hopeful for him. The difference
between me and everybody is I'm also hopeful for Shudor.
I'm hopeful for both of them. I want the best
for both of them. I don't pick one over the other.
But right now, Dylan Gabriel has an opportunity and I
hope he makes the best out of it.
Speaker 11 (12:41):
Mat Ty, we looked at the Giants opening schedule and
said they might be like one and seven, something like that.
Jackson Dart is going into New Orleans to face the
winless Saints.
Speaker 10 (12:50):
If they win that game, the Giants all of a sudden,
they're two and three.
Speaker 11 (12:53):
I'm not saying they're making the playoffs, but it starts
to change a lot of the narratives that we thought
were going to come out of the early part of
the season for the Giants. But what's most interesting to
me is I want to see less of a Jackson
Dart in Harm's way running the football.
Speaker 10 (13:08):
Now, we did say that.
Speaker 11 (13:10):
The fact that he could use his legs was a
big part of why they felt comfortable turning it over
to him, and this game plan was tailored to a
lot of that kind of stuff.
Speaker 5 (13:17):
But this is not like Tim Tebow.
Speaker 10 (13:20):
We're talking about here.
Speaker 11 (13:20):
This is a guy that has shown the ability to
work the field, throw the football from the pocket. I
want to see a little bit more that this is
the kind of stuff that.
Speaker 5 (13:29):
They need to build upon.
Speaker 10 (13:30):
That was great for the first game.
Speaker 11 (13:32):
This was fantastic, awesome, and there'll be elements of it,
but I want that limited.
Speaker 5 (13:35):
And I want to see more.
Speaker 11 (13:36):
Of Jackson Dart as a pastor because I know it's there,
I know he's capable of doing it, and I know
he can start to build upon that.
Speaker 5 (13:42):
Dart's fascinating. This is a great question. I could go
either way. I will go squarely into Gabriel. Dylan Gabriel has.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
One of the most interesting dynamics we have ever seen ever.
Not only is he replacing a Super Bowl MVP who
played for almost twenty years, not only is he doing
it in Europe for his first start, which is really unusual.
It's the elephant in the room is that there are
so many eyeballs and so many editorial descis made on
the guy who's backing him up turn on some other networks.
I don't know if they are even allowed to say
(14:08):
Dylan Gabriel. It's like a complete afterthought and nothing a
third round nothing. The only question interesting to many people
about Dylan Gabriel is how quickly is he going to
mess up so we can get Shador in there and
really sink our teeth into it.
Speaker 5 (14:20):
I actually resent that.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
I detest that there's people waiting for Dylan Gabriel to
mess up, and then there's people actively hoping for Dylan
Gabriel to mess up. Think about it, the fact that
he was merely named the starter. We have a whole
segment about his backup, his second backup. My mean to cameras,
what would happen? I wonder if Dylan Gabriel comes out,
throws three touchdowns and wins for the Cleveland Browns. Is
(14:42):
there a loathness to embrace him? What if he becomes
a really cool story? What if he becomes the rookie
of the year. What if he I'm rooting for all
of this stuff. I'm not rooting against Shador at all.
I'd love to see Chador. I'm a fan of Shaduur.
But this guy was drafted two rounds ahead of him.
He had a prolific college career. He's never said anything
but exactly the right things. He's interested in the fact
that he's short, he's left handed, he's determined. What is
(15:05):
not to root for about Dylan Gabriel.
Speaker 5 (15:06):
Other than Deon Sanderson is his backup, He's not. Joe
Blacko is his backup.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
Dean Sanderson is not going to play for a while
because the two time Coach of the Year is not
comfortable putting him out there right now.
Speaker 5 (15:17):
That's just football. So in the meantime, let's root.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
For Dylan Gabriel because it's a very cool story and
there's nothing to apologize for in doing it.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
Well done, everybody. I think that's fantastic.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
We were able to say everybody's name and we handled
it appropriately. Mike Gy, real quick question for you. Something
that dawned on me yesterday when the Browns made this decision.
How common or how often does it happen that not
only does a starter, healthy starter get benched, but then
he's got to back up the guy Because so essentially
we're God forbid one or two snaps away from having
to see Flacco again. I thought, usually when a guy
(15:46):
gets removed from the starting spot, that decision is done,
like the Russell Wilson type deal. So is this commonplace
for Flacco to be right there, like it is fully
just flip flopped.
Speaker 11 (15:56):
Well, Russ was bumped the two so sometimes you do
see that. But I think in this case, if they
need to turn it over to Joe Lacko to come
in to help Dylan Gabriel in the situation where you.
Speaker 10 (16:07):
Want to win a football game, you've.
Speaker 11 (16:08):
Got a guy that was just your starter, that has
experienced that you can rely upon.
Speaker 5 (16:11):
I think that's a big thing for.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
The Browns, all right, Cool Brown's Viking Sunday Morning Football
on NFL Network. Week five kicks off though tonight with
TNF as a classic NFC West matchup between San Francisco
and la which got us thinking, obviously of ninety sitcoms.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
Because what would the third.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
Question of the second hour of GMFB be without those
two images on your screen? Manti better show Full House
or The Fresh Prince of bel Air?
Speaker 7 (16:40):
For me, Jamie's Fresh Prince of bel Air. I mean
it was one of the more iconic shows for me
growing up watching. And I'll tell you a quick little story.
I went on my official visit to UCLA and they
put us up in bel Air and my first reaction
to being in bel Air wasn't the beautiful homes.
Speaker 5 (16:57):
It was that was there. I was like, this is
where French Fresh Prince.
Speaker 7 (16:59):
Of bel Airs from, Like, that's that's how I was like,
this is where we'll we'll live and all of that
stuff you know on the show and stuff. So I
definitely resonated with this show during my upbringing. It was
one of those shows that I liked.
Speaker 11 (17:11):
Larry David, who has no affiliation with either show, had
a rule for Seinfeld, which is no hugging, no learning,
because he saw those moments on Full House and the
like where there were those moments that were just a
little too corny and.
Speaker 10 (17:24):
Cheesy and bring the music in.
Speaker 11 (17:26):
Fresh Prince had some of those moments, but they played
them so much better. That's why I gotta go Fresh Prince.
That and the fact that I'm from Philly. I have
to give up my Philly card. If I didn't say, friends, Mike,
I think you're onnest something there. I know we're crediting
Fresh Prince of bel Air. It's literally in the name
of the show. I consider Fresh Prince of West Philadelphia
show like that. It's really what you think of and
I feel like they have so much ownership of that.
Speaker 5 (17:45):
But I have a question.
Speaker 9 (17:47):
My question is whatever happened to predictability, the Milkman, the
paper Ball, not TV. I'm going full House and you
know why I'm going full House because how this show
has aged.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
Oh my gosh, that was somehow you look back on
everybody who was in that house. Let me give you
just a rapid fire rundown as we look at the
full cast of Full House, bring it up.
Speaker 5 (18:11):
Let me have it. Michelle Tanner cultural icon.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
Wildly inappropriate clock on the Internet about her day of birth.
Back in the day, Stephanie Tanner battled through hardcore substance abuse.
Speaker 5 (18:21):
God bless her.
Speaker 1 (18:22):
DJ Tanner was working with the Hallmark Channel didn't like
what they stood for, Allegedly Kimmy Gibbler rough stories from
on set. I don't even want to mention Aunt Becky.
I think the most attractive person ever to go to prison.
Uncle Joey inspired the beautiful song you ought to know
and enjoy going to theaters back in the day, Uncle Jesse,
(18:42):
more things I don't even want to say on the air,
and the late Danny Tanner.
Speaker 5 (18:46):
The wholesome father figure.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
Also in the conversation for dirtiest stand up comic of
all time, that was some house back in the day.
I love those people. I respect the battles they've been through.
But when you used to watch it as a kid
and it was all about Michelle saying you got it, dude,
or it was a it out, there was way more
things going on behind the scene there, and for me,
(19:08):
that makes it a deeper, richier, freakier house.
Speaker 5 (19:11):
That's my deal.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
Yeah, Bob Saga's appearances on Entourage, for example, You're like,
I'm sorry, was that the America's favorite father in a
show that I watched in the nineties, Kyle, you went
with the off the screen personalities, which, like you said,
is salacious and fascinating at times. The on television concept
of full House is also remarkable.
Speaker 3 (19:31):
The fact that they are remodeling.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
This McMansion in San Francisco with like what felt like
nineteen people living in the house at the time, and
then Aunt Becky goes on to have twins, which you
see featured in this photo, and they just remodeled this
attic to make it look like a one bedroom apartment
in a really nice hour, but it's still in the house.
And then Joey's just living in the basement, but it's
also like a radio band studio. It's all quite fascinating. However,
(19:55):
that being said, if you were not a child born
a girl born in the eighties and watching the show
and you didn't want to be a part of that family,
you'd be lying to my face, Okay, it's a great
show and you wanted to be one of.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
The Olsen sisters.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
And the fact that they are just never to be
seen again yet their other sister, Elizabeth Olsen, is like
an OSCAR nominated and winning actress now is just fascinating. Yes,
Scarlet Witch, that's a great throat out on Thursday.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
That's fantastic.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
Fresh Prince of bel Aaron West, but fresh Prince. They
never had scenes in West Philadelphia.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
It was just the song no or did he.
Speaker 5 (20:25):
Go back and visit the heart of Westvilly?
Speaker 4 (20:28):
I got you all right?
Speaker 2 (20:29):
All rights basketball courts, the c span.
Speaker 11 (20:35):
Prank call the fresh Prince, noay perfect.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
The Detroit Lions are currently working their way through the
AFC North.
Speaker 5 (20:47):
They beat the.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
Cleveland Browns thirty four to ten in Week four and
now they move on and they have their sights set squarely.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
On the Cincinnati Bengals.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
The Bengals have lost too straight since losing their starting
quarterback Joe Burrow for a.
Speaker 3 (21:01):
Good amount of time at least.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
Mid December due to a turf toe injury. Now there
are some good veteran quarterbacks out there and potentially available
to trade, and this has become the discussion or fodder
for the internet. So we have a responsibility on GMFB
to play out some of those conversations at times. So
in the spirit of role playing and taking it appropriately,
(21:24):
I myself, I'm gonna put on the hat and the
starter jacket of Bengals Director of player Personnel, he who
makes a lot of the decisions about what happens on
the field for the Bengals, mister Duke Tobin, and Duke
Tobin now played by myself, is going to address some
available backup quarterbacks in the NFL, and these quarterbacks are
(21:44):
going to make a case as to why they might
be a great option for the Bengals in the coming
months without Joe Burrow. So, first, mister Jamis Winston, it
was an amazing performance by you in Dallas a few
weeks ago, but wow, the way things challenged you as
you moved on must have been something to behold.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
Jameis Winston.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
Why would you would be a good fit to take
on the next couple of months for this Bengals offense.
Speaker 7 (22:08):
Well, mister Tobin, I really appreciate the opportunity to be here.
On my flight over here to commeet with you, I
saw two other quarterbacks that I assume they're going to
try to vouch for this position, and I'm gonna tell
you why I'm a better candidate for your quarterback position
than them. Number one, I'm the youngest of all three
of them, so I have some mobility. Mobility to me,
not because of age, but I also have on my
(22:29):
resume a play from this preseason that I like to
show you as to how I'm able to extend plays
here as a preseason game, as third and seven, I run.
I'm not scared to run, mister Tobin. I'm not scared
to also put my hand in people's faces and push.
I believe on Good Morning Football, mister ka Brandt has
an anger run sceptor thing. I think I should have
won one, even though he doesn't handle one out for
(22:51):
the preseason. That's number one. I'm a better scrambler than
all of them. Your O line has been struggling, so
I can get out of Harmon's way. Number two, I
throw a variety of footballs. I don't just throw a
moon ball, don't just throw the deep ball, and I
don't I can throw over ten to fifteen yards, which
is the other candidate he structure to throw over fifteen yards.
I can throw every ball on the field, mister Tobin.
(23:14):
That's why I think that is the second reason. Number three,
I know the division very very well, and I've had
a lot of ws in the division, and you know
me and w's and eating w's, I can get.
Speaker 5 (23:26):
WS for you. So if you'd like to eat w's two,
mister Tobin, which.
Speaker 7 (23:29):
I know you won't for your Cincinnati Bengals team, I
can be the one.
Speaker 5 (23:32):
Had that happen for you.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
Jamis props to you. Incredible composure.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
Just from a personality standpoint, It's not how I saw
the meeting going, but I appreciate your professionalism and I
am surprised to hear that you were on the same
flight here. Maybe you guys connected through somewhere as some
of the other candidates, because next on my schedule here
in my office as the director of player Personnel for
the Bengals is a guy that gosh, it would maybe
(23:57):
cost us a lot of money, but he might just
be a good balance for us. Offensively, Kirk Cousins, thank
you for the time and for flying in. Why would
you be a good fit and work for us here
in Cincinnati?
Speaker 11 (24:10):
Money? You're talking money. That's my love language. Jamie heard all.
Speaker 10 (24:13):
Hey, Duke, it's me your cousin Kirk. You like this shirt?
Speaker 1 (24:17):
Which way I got to go?
Speaker 10 (24:21):
It's me your cousin Kirk. You like this shirt. It's
not from Cole's.
Speaker 11 (24:24):
Look, I gotta make this quick because Great Clips right
now has a wait of only five minutes. Yeah, you're
tracking it right as a Great Clips regular.
Speaker 10 (24:32):
I know you got to strike while the curling iron
is hot. It's a couple of good lines. Can I
just stop there?
Speaker 11 (24:37):
No, Look, Jamie was talking about the money.
Speaker 10 (24:40):
I'm sorry, Duke, you were talking about the money here.
Speaker 11 (24:43):
Arthur Blank doesn't want to spend ninety million over two
years to not have me play more games for the
Atlanta Falcons, So I understand that's a big part of that.
And they don't want to trade, and you guys, as
the Bengals don't usually make a lot of trades anyway.
But look, This could really work out because I think
Atlanta would take on some money for some really good
draft pick compensation. And I know that there's now a
ten million dollar guarantee next year.
Speaker 10 (25:04):
That triggered because Atlanta held on to me.
Speaker 5 (25:06):
But don't worry.
Speaker 11 (25:07):
I'm gonna play so well for you that teams are
going to be lining up to trade for me next year.
You can trade me, get that ten million off your hands,
and get some draft pick compensation back. Atlanta just hasn't
worked out the way that I thought it would with
Michael Pennix there and taking the job halfway through last year.
Speaker 5 (25:24):
But look, you've.
Speaker 11 (25:24):
Got guys that aren't getting the football.
Speaker 10 (25:26):
I can get guys to football. Go back to twenty
twenty two with the Vikings.
Speaker 11 (25:30):
I had four guys on that team that had over
sixty receptions, Jamar, Chase T Higgins.
Speaker 5 (25:36):
They need me to feed in the ball.
Speaker 10 (25:37):
Make that deal right.
Speaker 5 (25:38):
Now, Kirk.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
I was a little worried about your inability to commit
to the character at the beginning of this conversation, but
I appreciate how you were able to stay with it.
Speaker 3 (25:45):
Don't ruin the segments.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
Moving on, Gosh, last on my list is.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
Somebody who also available to us.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
I guess coming from the Big Apple. Russell Wilson, how
are you, hey.
Speaker 5 (25:58):
Mister Tobin.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
I'm ten time pro bowler Russell Wilson, and I love
to be an ex giant for you your team.
Speaker 5 (26:05):
Did I say ex giant?
Speaker 1 (26:06):
I sure did, just like Saquon Barkley, Daniel Jones and
even Darren Waller.
Speaker 5 (26:11):
And I've got three.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
Reasons why I should be on your team. Number one,
I have a very favorable contract. You know who doesn't
your wide receivers. Number Two, I throw a very good
deep ball. You know who needs them, your wide receivers.
And number three, I'm a Walter Peyton Man of the year.
Dare I say you could use a little bit of
that around your organization.
Speaker 5 (26:32):
The last time you had a.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
Walter Payton Man of the Year, Walter Payton was still
with us. So in summary, I'm cheap, I throw deep,
and I'm not a creep Bengals Nation.
Speaker 5 (26:43):
Let's prow.
Speaker 4 (26:45):
Wow, Russ.
Speaker 3 (26:47):
That didn't sound scripted at all.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
I appreciate your preparation and your candor when it comes.
When it came to that meeting, I just find myself
in such a pickle. I'm gonna have to take my
time and really moll over these options as we just
don't know what we're going to do to stay ahead
and alive in the AFC North.
Speaker 4 (27:04):
Is it Jake.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
Browning, is it Kirk Russ or Jamis? Will just have
to wait to find out when Good Morning Football returns.
Well done, everybody way to commit to the character, mister Duketovin.
I don't wish your decision upon anybody.
Speaker 5 (27:24):
This is Survivaalive. I got the Denver Broncos. I think the.
Speaker 3 (27:30):
Jaguars will be my life round.
Speaker 5 (27:33):
I will go with the Patriots the kidsas city Chiefs.
Speaker 4 (27:37):
Why did you pick the Chiefs?
Speaker 5 (27:40):
As long as magic? Oh? I got the La Rams
Baltimore Ravens. I am going to choose the Buffalo bill
and is.
Speaker 4 (27:53):
Josh Allen's third touchdown of the.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
Night, I'm going with the Buccaneers.
Speaker 4 (27:58):
The Buccaneers are three at all.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
I already knew where I was gonna go, which is
the Bills.
Speaker 7 (28:08):
So I'm going to go Packers in Dallas.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
And that brings us to today. We have been doing
the survival segment. I have been wearing the shark tooth
necklace for years and we are now in unchartered waters
if you will, because we have a debate, a quandary,
a dilemma.
Speaker 5 (28:31):
Jamie Erdall, as you saw there, selected.
Speaker 4 (28:33):
A winning team in week four.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Mantiteo did not, but he also did not select a
losing team.
Speaker 5 (28:42):
He selected a team that tied.
Speaker 1 (28:43):
Now, if you're seeing myself and our AI powered robot,
we are out in week one.
Speaker 5 (28:48):
That's irrelevance.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
What's extremely irrelevant is is this segment over. Did Jamie
Erdall win by selecting a winning team or did Mantiteo
survive by avoiding selecting.
Speaker 4 (29:00):
A losing team.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
It really is deep into the minutia of constitutes advancement
in survivor pools, and for that, we are going to
offer the floor, first to Manti Tao to speak in
his own defense about why he should advance because his
team did not lose, and then to Jamie Erdahl to
make a finding final closing argument, which I think she's earned, to.
Speaker 5 (29:21):
Say, it's things over.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
I just won the survival because I picked a team
that won. Manti Tale, this is going to be your
chance to speak up for yourself. Do it convincingly, and
maybe we will grant you another week.
Speaker 5 (29:33):
Do it not and it's over. The floor is yours.
Speaker 7 (29:35):
Thank you, mister Brent. I really appreciate it. I will
say three things. Number One, mister Brant, you love great TV,
and this is great television.
Speaker 5 (29:45):
That's number one.
Speaker 7 (29:46):
Number two, you are an English major, and nowhere in
the English dictionary is a synonym of the word survival
mean losing. And number three, the only sport were I
would say sport only game where a tie. I don't
think there's a game where tie you're eliminated. As a
matter of fact, there's only one game that I know
(30:08):
that when a tie does happen, it becomes a push,
and that's black check. So I don't see mister Brandt
a situation wherever it's a tie and the two teams
that tied get eliminated. I don't. But I will now
passit it to my sister Jamie Erdall to see what
her side of the story is, as she does deserve
because she did win outright.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
Thank you so much, man tie, so respectful, so kind,
And I.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
Do appreciate the floor. What I also appreciate.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
Is being a champion and winning and being the best
at something in a television segment. I also hold in
high regard and esteem making great television, and I'm sorry
to turn the tables on Kyle, who has such fierce
definitions of what this segment and games would look like.
Speaker 3 (30:56):
I think the segment should.
Speaker 2 (30:57):
Keep going because in my mind, I don't want to
just survive a tie, and as does great Jerry Joe said,
what is a tie? Does it taste like kissing your sister?
I don't know what does that taste like? A very
strange quote, a very weird way to answer that question.
I don't want to win this thing on just your
casual tie in a great football game. I want to
beat Manti outright. And if this knucklehead to my right
(31:21):
is going to make a decision like picking the Packers
on the road and this is how I beat him,
I don't accept that. I know I'm going to win,
so I'd rather just continue on Kyle and I just
do it the right way, the proper way away, and
wish I crush him, and.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
It might even't be as early as next week.
Speaker 7 (31:37):
Thank you.
Speaker 5 (31:37):
Here's a gift. What is an interesting commentary for both
of you. You were well researched.
Speaker 1 (31:41):
Manti with his reasons, Jamie with her twist. We have
The closest thing we have to a jury is sitting
to my right here the very area, dikes journalist Mike Garrafolo,
who's been in these streets for years.
Speaker 5 (31:53):
Mike, you've heard the commentary. Understand the context.
Speaker 1 (31:55):
What do you say, Does it tie in survival mean
you didn't lose and you're alive, or does it mean
you didn't win in you're out?
Speaker 11 (32:01):
Speaking of journalists, they were the ones who asked Herm
Edwards the day of the famous press conference, you play to.
Speaker 5 (32:10):
Tithe, That's not it. You play to win the game.
Speaker 7 (32:16):
Hello.
Speaker 10 (32:17):
Hello, That's what Herm said.
Speaker 11 (32:21):
So that's that's one thing. The other thing is suppose
you both run the table. The rest of the way.
The way it works in the standings is Jamie would
have the better record, because a tie is not equivalent
to a win. I am sorry this segment. May it
rest in peace, all right?
Speaker 5 (32:36):
Please? For twenty two. This is when we have different opinions.
Here here we go.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
This is what this is when in court you go
to this stenographer and this stenographer looks back at what
was said verbatim. I'm going to throw to a piece
of video that was taken an NFL films a Mount
Law on New Jersey. When we began the segment this
year in which I set in the table for the segment.
Speaker 5 (32:55):
Stated the rules for advancement.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
Let's see how I phrased it, because I know it's
just ad lived at the time.
Speaker 5 (33:02):
This will give us our answer. Here it is, boo.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
All you have to do is pick one team that
will win this.
Speaker 5 (33:10):
Weekend, will win the suitter. What do you have to
do to win? Just pick someone who wins the game.
It's that simple. Just more points than the other team's.
Speaker 4 (33:22):
Just more points.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
I don't accept this. I don't win this.
Speaker 5 (33:31):
Here it is and I have banging the gabble. It
is over. It is over.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
Jamie Erdau, you like it or not. You won Survival
twenty twenty five. You have the floor for not your
argument that it's to continue, your celebration speech that it
will not because you stand alone.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
I don't want to stand alone. I like having friends.
I like having friends.
Speaker 2 (33:54):
In the television segment and Kyle, I just want to
say something to you, my friend, in the spirit of
this football season and this show, and at times the
exhaust of me sure as to what we do to
make a living. I cannot believe once again that you
are voluntarily giving up on a segment that is pretty
much handmade and crafted and handed over to us every
(34:15):
Thursday when our minds are sometimes losing itself by the
end of the week. This is tailor made, personality driven
television that is just given to us every Thursday, and
you're just letting it go away from our clutches.
Speaker 5 (34:30):
Integrity. We gotta have standards.
Speaker 1 (34:32):
If we wanted to, we can do a segment, we
put the schedule off and we just say win loss,
win loss.
Speaker 5 (34:36):
We don't do that either.
Speaker 1 (34:37):
Congratulations are at all reluctant Champion,
