Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Good Morning Football. On a Thursday, jul I said, T
Jamie or at all. I'm in LA with fro Shaun
Jennings Manta. Say o Kyle Brant in New York City, Kyle,
I like the fact that we have eliminated the term
sophomore slump in our show. Now we will not acknowledge
it because I won't even call the second hour of
our show that we have an absolutely electrifactory rundown coming
to you this way on GMFB.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Kyle, right right, tell me I'm wrong. You can't.
Speaker 4 (00:33):
We don't.
Speaker 5 (00:34):
No, you're right.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
We don't say X factors. We don't say pretenders or contenders.
We don't say I didn't have that on my bing
go card, and we don't say sophomore slump.
Speaker 4 (00:41):
We do say that this hour.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
In fact, this second, I think there's going to be
a debate topic that's going to have us drawing nive.
Let's just get into it right now. G MFB coming
in hot fire.
Speaker 6 (00:50):
In the hole, good money football.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
That's right, GMFE.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
We're happy you're here on the fourth day of the
work week. We love talking about football with you and
everything else in life. Speaking of everything else in life
for Shad Manti Kyles and New York Kyle, A little
birdie told me, and by the Bertie, I mean the
producers on the show, that yes, we are going to
have a couple of debate topics in the first segment
of the show. But what have you prepared for us?
Give us a little tease about what is coming in
the second segment of the show as it pertains to
(01:29):
football and life.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
This is interesting, guys.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
So we know that the NFL MVP Josh Allen got
married in the off season. That's been talked about a lot,
but I can't remember an off season in which more
household name players got married. Just a lot of weddings
going on from a lot of really important players in
the field. How does that affect the players historically moving forward?
(01:53):
When they get married, does it alter how they play?
For better or worse the following fall? We did the
research and the results are stunning. You're not going to
believe what we have. We did the deep dive over
the years and I'm going to present it too.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
Shortly, okay, perfect, and we're not talking about the percentage
of success for the marriages. It's the success on the field, Okay,
So just make sure there's a clarification.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
Thrown down. The ghost stats are out there too. Don't
come at me, all right, throw down, there's a topic.
Number one.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Former Bears linebacker and Profoble Hall of Famer Brian R.
Lacker joined The Insiders last night, and Irlacker says he's
excited to see what quarterback.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
Caleb Johnson killed.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Johnson killed Williams please can do with Ben Johnson Now
that he's there with.
Speaker 7 (02:34):
Him, people are kind of doubting Caleb. I think Caleb
is the guy for the quarterback there.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
You know.
Speaker 7 (02:40):
I think his rookie year was tough, but he played
pretty good. His number if you just look at his numbers,
he didn't throw a lot of picks, didn't turn the
ball over that much, and made some big plays. So
I'm looking for a lot of him this year. They're
in a tough division. I think that's one thing we're
going against them. Was a division is really tough. But
they're going to be better as well, So you got
to look at that as part of that. He's going
to be his second year that got better up front
(03:01):
of both sides of the football, which you needed to do.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
I'm excited.
Speaker 7 (03:04):
I just I think with Ben Johnson at the helm
calling the places and put them position to make places
and other guys that to make plays, it should be
a lot better.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Can't get over how much you have colected is to
have your own bust over your left shoulder and ring
a zoom interview. Irlacris got going on when it comes
to questions like that, and he gives us a good
tea up for throw Down Thursday, twenty twenty five season.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Who were you most intrigued by?
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Is it Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears or is
it JJ McCarthy in the Minnesota Vikings.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
For shot, you're a.
Speaker 5 (03:32):
First, I'm more intrigued with JJ. Definitely give me JJ
tenth overall draft pick. I believe he's a special guy. Yeah,
I think that The reason why the Minnesota Vikings let
go of Sam Darnold, the reason why the Minnesota Vikings
did not pick up Aaron.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
Rodgers is because of who Jj McCarthy.
Speaker 5 (03:55):
And you know I've mentioned this before, but JJ McCarthy,
mind you, he was coached up in college by Jim Harball.
Now he's passed over to O'Connell. I think that's a
good combination. I don't think anybody is reluctant to say, hey,
I don't like who he's coached up by, I don't
like how he's progressed. And then Aaron Jones. I actually
got a chance to talk to him briefly. He's excited.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
You know.
Speaker 5 (04:18):
They was talking about how much of a leader he is,
how much he's understood the playbook, how much of a
commander at the position he is. And don't forget about
who he's doing the ball to as Justin Jefferson. He
has Jordan Addison, TJ. Hockinson. Again, Jones is a lot
of players around him to be excited for, and he
has that room, that little buffer because he's not a rookie.
(04:40):
He's a rookie on the field, but not in a classroom.
He's been around the teammates. They're comfortable with him. So
I love and I'm intrigued more to watch and see
what he does.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Ashman, if you will, yeah, I'm going to agree with
you on that, Rishard.
Speaker 8 (04:52):
The more intriguing quarterback between these two is JJ McCarthy. Now,
when I think of Caleb Williams in the context of
this question, I think Caleb Williams creates some narrative because
of Ben Johnson.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
You know, Caleb Johnson, thank.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
You, no, thanks for compounding it.
Speaker 8 (05:09):
I got your sister, I always got your back.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
I always got your back.
Speaker 8 (05:12):
But I just think there's a lot of intrigue, not
just because of Ka Lump, but because of his new
head coach.
Speaker 4 (05:18):
Now, JJ McCarthy.
Speaker 8 (05:20):
When I look at JJ McCarthy and this offensive scheme
that the Vikings have, I have five bedrooms in my house.
My wife took one of those bedrooms and just made
it a kids room. So the room is specifically fitted.
When you go in there, you know like, oh, this
is for the kids. Like there's books over here, there's
coloring books here, there's the gymnastics bar over there. You
(05:42):
know exactly who that's for. That's what the Minnesota Vikings
did for JJ McCarthy with what they.
Speaker 4 (05:47):
Have around him.
Speaker 8 (05:48):
When it talks to Jordan Addison, Justin Jefferson, Aaron Jones, TJ. Hawkinson,
the only difference, the only change from a twenty twenty
four excellent season.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
Is the quarterback. That's it. So that's the.
Speaker 8 (06:01):
Only variable that's different going into this year. So just
those factors alone, I look at those two quarterbacks, and
the more intriguing quarterback between those two for those reasons
is JJ McCarthy.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
It's a beautiful, humble brag first of all with the
five bedrooms, Manti, congratulations to you.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
But what I hear when you say there is a
room in your.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
House that is dedicated to the kid's stuff, what you're
trying to accomplish there is that you get to close
the door and hide the mess like.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
You don't have to cover you don't have to have
that out in.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Your living room and show everybody what a disaster that
room can be.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
And the kids are entitled to do that.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
But when it comes to the regular season, there is
no closing the door and not showing people whether or
not JJ McCarthy is going to be a mess. This
thing is going to be out in your living room.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
It is going to be welcome in the neighbors and
show that your kids don't know how to put anything away.
And that is terrifying to me.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
We just threw out on me. He just threw down,
She just threw down on it.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
It's just so hard to get kids to pick up
you know.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
Yeah, well listen, stay tuned for the next topic where
Manti drops the square footage of this phone.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
JJ's a fin answer here. This is tough question.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
I would say Caleb, because I just fast forward in
week one, Monday night, Dunk dunt dunt dun, Soldier Field,
the lights, the Vikings are there, it's JJ versus Caleb,
and Caleb's house. I just think the Bears have to
win this year. They really do, and in so many
different ways, like you just can't have another year. If
JJ is kind of fine and they're a little bit
(07:25):
of a get to know you and a little bit
of a growing pains, and maybe they have kind of
an average season.
Speaker 4 (07:30):
I don't think the sky is falling from Minnesota.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
You're encouraged. Last year was a disaster. The Bears lost
ten games in a row. I don't know how Caleb's
gonna show up from that. I know he has a
new coach, and he has knew this, knew that home
pressure more expectations.
Speaker 4 (07:45):
To me, intrigue comes from.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
Pressure and expectations, and certainly JJ has some. I just
think there's more on Caleb. Let's not forget number one overall.
Pick Bear's good add anybody they wanted Good, had Jayden Good,
had Drake may Good, ad Bo Nicks, just like when
they took him at Trubisky, they could have had Patrick
my home.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
It just there's a lot of could have had.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
It needs to make the could have hads go away
and it starts week one. You can't lose that game
to JJ McCarthy.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
And the home opener. That's very intriguing to me. Intrigue
it's Caleb.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
It was a real Debbie Downer moment in the first
hour on the show, and Kyle disclosed to us that
the Giant or the Commanders played the Eagles in week
sixteen and eighteen.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
That's a long wait.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
I like the fact that these who played till their
week one Monday night football.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
It's perfect.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
So we will have at least some semblance of an answer,
and we'll move forth with that as we will.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
The next topic.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
No player has ever recorded two thousand receiving yards in
a single season.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
Hasn't been done.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
The closest was back when Calvin Johnson did it with
the Lions in twenty twelve, when he peaked at nine
hundred and sixty four. It was a beautiful thing. Then
we haven't seen it since. Bengals wide receiver Jamar Chase,
who led last season with one thy seven hundred and eight,
thinks the two K record will be broken within the
next three seasons.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
It's so specific, it's a really lofty goal. But if
Jamar Chase can claim.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
That somebody's going to do it, if it's not him,
somebody will, all right, So might be his former teammate
and Jefferson that does it, but not himself. What is
more likely to happen though, since we also saw it
last year with the rushing record single season receiving record
being broken or the rushing record being broken, Rashan, you go.
Speaker 5 (09:16):
Yeah, I'm going to go with the rushing record. I
think the Russian record has a better chance of being
broken than the receiving record. And don't forget last year
it could have been broken had Sakwon Barkley played in
the last game. He elected for health reasons. They wanted
to continue their rush. As it all panned out, they
won a Super Bowl, but he decided not to play
(09:38):
in the last game. And mind you, they were dominated
in so many different games. I saw him being taken
out at the end of the third quarter and did
not play.
Speaker 4 (09:46):
He only missed it by like one hundred yards, So.
Speaker 5 (09:49):
I think, you know, it's lightning in the bottle a
little bit. Sakwon Barkley though he's a genius with the
ball in his hand.
Speaker 4 (09:55):
I think he can repeat. Then, don't forget.
Speaker 5 (09:58):
You have Derek Henry who's always rushing for two thousand
yards and getting close, and he has the most says
this year with Adam Sandler saying and if you run
for two thousand yards, we're gonna put you.
Speaker 4 (10:08):
In a movie. And I said, no, I'm going with
the rusting record. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (10:12):
I like what you just said, rushat and you know
the Eagles were great because of sa Kwon Barkley. But
I'm gonna I'm gonna say the passing record. And the
reason why I'm going to say a passing record receiving, Yeah,
receiving records, Thank you, James. The reason why I say
the receiving record is it's a passing league now, like
they want to throw the ball. And not only that,
but you mentioned the Egles. There are only two teams
in the NFL maybe three going with the Chargers that
(10:34):
really want to run the ball, like that's their primary focus.
Even those teams they want to have a two back rotation.
You have the thunder or lightning combination whatever, Alvin Kamara,
mark Ingram like. We see that in Detroit. They want
a two back combination. So I think that the passing
record has a better chance of being broken, and specifically
by that man who just said it, Jamar Chase. In
(10:57):
order for you to break a record like this, number one,
you have to have a quarterback that can throw you
the ball, and you have one of the best for
Jamar Chasing, Joe Burrow. You also have a have to
have a wide receiver two that it's good enough to
be a wide receiver one. Why is that important Because
you want to have somebody who's going to garner the
attention of the defense. You don't want what Justin Jefferson
(11:17):
had a lot of times last year where a defense
can doub that's going to take you out of that equation.
And Cincinnati has a defense that has struggled last year
with keeping points down. So you're going to be in
a lot more situations where you're going to have to
pass the ball and create points. To that point, I
think the passing record will be broken first and specifically
(11:40):
Jamar Chase could.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
Be the one to break that. I think it's receiving
record as well.
Speaker 1 (11:45):
These records are broken in the last week of the
season or the second to last week in the season,
and you get the saque thing where it's like, not
only are their running backs, their carrieres are way.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
Up, they're probably getting ready for the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
They're trying to get their carries down as much as possible.
The sake one thing is exhibit A about why it
won't happen, because if you're on that good of a team,
having that good season, you're going to the playoffs. And
one of the greatest decisions Nick Sirianni made last year
was not playing Saquon and not feeding him. And he
took a lot of crap for it because it looked
like Saquan was really disappointed about it.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
He made the right decision. It'll be the receiving record.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
And by the way, it'll be the receiving record because
he listen, we're gonna.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
Go to eighteen games, they're gonna go to twenty, we're
gonna go to twenty five.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Someone's gonna have three thousand yards at some point because
the season's gonna be so long. But until then, Calvin
Johnson will always be my true leader. Nineteen hundred and
sixty four yards in sixteen games.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
That's the guy. There's the sign.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
Look at that young lady, she's on the JIMFB this
morning because of number eighty one. That is my leader.
It's Calvin Johnson at number one. And when someone breaks
it in a seventeen or eighteen game schedule, big old
fat asterisk.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
In my opinion, it's perfect because you have, to Kyle's point,
there's mile markers and their standards when it comes to
these records, and that could say the same for various
box office records that have been set over time. Superman
is absolutely crushing it, the latest edition of it at least,
and it's setting up the kind of numbers that in
ten twenty years we see Kyle an I like Celebrity Jeopardy,
which box office movie was an absolute splash in mid
(13:09):
July of twenty twenty five. We get it, okay, we
understand how Superman is performing the box office better Superhero.
Speaker 6 (13:18):
Okay, so you.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
See him in the box office, you go and you're like, no,
over time, this guy is better.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
Is it Superman or is it Batman for you Man Time.
Speaker 8 (13:26):
Okay, So the story of Batman really resonated with me
and came to live in the past few years.
Speaker 4 (13:32):
I've always been intrigued.
Speaker 8 (13:34):
By superheroes, but the story of Batman, if you don't
know story of Batman. Bruce Wayne as a little boy
witnesses the murder of his parents and his response to that.
I remember listening to somebody articulate the difference between the
hero and the villain, and it changed my life. Wherever
he says the backstory between the hero and the villain
are the same, it's pained. The difference is the villain says,
(13:57):
the world hurt me, so I'm going to hurt it.
The hero says, the world hurt me, but I'm not
going to allow it to hurt somebody else.
Speaker 4 (14:05):
And that during a time where I.
Speaker 8 (14:06):
Felt very justified to seek revenge, to be angry, or
to lash out on somebody, the story of Batman helped
me to choose love and forgiveness. And so, even though
it is a fictional story during one of the darker
times of my life, the story of Batman really helped
me to put things into a certain perspective, to go
(14:27):
out there and say, man, I can love this world
that did me wrong. So I've always will choose Batman
as one of my favorite heroes based on that story.
Speaker 4 (14:35):
Geez Man, ti Man, and I'm you know that's perfectly said.
Speaker 5 (14:40):
I relate more towards Batman because of the human element
and human experience. Superman obviously it's super you know, he's
almost invincible. Yeah, but there's something about the vulnerability that
Batman brings to the table, and it's more realistic.
Speaker 4 (14:55):
That's why I lean into him. He's one hundredercent of human.
Speaker 5 (14:58):
He doesn't have these overtly superpowers. He's flesh, he's pain,
he has the trauma. So I can relate to him
little bit more than I can Superman. So for that, okay,
I would have to put Batman on top. And I
like the Batman bill. I mean it's squeek. Oh wow,
I got a camaro a whole bunch of things. Yeah,
that's a Batman.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
Let's go.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
This is This is when the segment gets rounded out
by me saying, you guys are crazy and I'm going
to piss some people off. Here is Superman even a
top ten superhero?
Speaker 4 (15:31):
Like? What are we doing with Superman? Here? Like is
he is he even up there on the power rankings?
Speaker 1 (15:35):
Could there be a more simplistic, boring superhero with no
real vulnerability, no weakness to save for some fragments out
in the galaxy somewhere. Let me tell you about Superman. Okay,
he lands on Earth. He immediately gets the great fortune
of being adopted by this wonderful, warm carrying farm family
who raises them beautifully in America. Next thing you know,
(15:57):
he gets a job in media in Metropolis, like out
of nowhere. I don't know how he has his own
byline immediately he has. It's his own house.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
Out in the icelands that his dad set him up with.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
I don't think he pays property taxes on the fortress
of solitude.
Speaker 4 (16:10):
Like he is all given to him and he's all powerful.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
Like you look at him compared to Batman, to someone
like Wolverine or someone like Spider Man, who gets the
hell kicked out of him every time he's in a
fight and has to battle back. Superman's goes bink and
it's like it's not that interesting to me. And I
love and truth and justice in the American way and
all that, but like a lot of stuff handed to Superman.
You might say, well, Batman's a nepo baby, He's a
(16:35):
trust fund baby.
Speaker 4 (16:36):
Look what he did with that wealth. Did you hear
Man titayo? When the world hurts you, he doesn't want
to hurt it back. He wants to.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Use his great fortune and zero superpowers, by the way,
to make sure it doesn't hurt anybody else. Superman might
be the most powerful, He's maybe the least interesting to me.
But I heard the movie is good and I'm gonna
see it next week on my Son at Best mccamp.
Speaker 4 (16:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
I saw on social media be powering to on the
lowest lanes over time, and I was actually shocked how
many lowest lanes I was unaware of. How have there
been that many renditions of Roman Kyle. So you're essentially
calling him silver spoon Superman is what you're implying. It's
just here is your life, and it's perfect.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
Not only do you have all the powers, you have
all the luxuries as well. He's got this apartment in Metropolis,
which is man. I mean, where does that come from?
I just I think he's got a lot going from.
Of course I don't dislike Superman, but when we're talking
about better and more interesting, Like I.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
Got a whole line of men and women.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
Batman hangs in the in the Justice League with like
Wonder Woman and the Flash, and he has no powers
just by the power of his personality and presence and ingenuity.
Speaker 4 (17:37):
Like that is what is impressive to me, all Right.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
The MVP of the NFL, Joshawn from a Buffalo Bill's
got married over the over the offseason. You know that,
very happy for he and his wife, Hayley. They get married.
They were pictures, there's a celebration, it's everywhere. It's a
wonderful thing. But you know what, so many players got
married this offseason. In fact, I can't remember seeing so
many announcements of players getting married this particular offsea and
(18:04):
specifically big impact, household name type players. So in an
era where we measure everything about athletes, can we possibly
measure the effect that getting married has on those athletes
on the field. I say this as a guy who's
been married fifteen years this fall. Getting married can change
your psyche, your sense of self, your sense of responsibility,
(18:26):
But can it change you as a professional football player,
Ladies and gentlemen, We have done the research and I'm
here to tell you the results are profound, and I
have several exhibits and I will have a conclusion at
the end.
Speaker 4 (18:40):
Let's get into this.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
First player, George Kittle married in twenty nineteen.
Speaker 4 (18:46):
He married his wife Claire. They were together at Iowa, of.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
Course, apparently he spent eight months in the friend zone.
She played basketball for Iowa, he played football, and eventually
they got married in Ginsburg.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
Jewelry store in Iowa City, Iowa.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
The local jewelry store. They just showed up and did it.
Twenty nineteen. It's a beautiful couple. It's a beautiful marriage.
The following season, George Kittle's first season, I don't know
what's going on there.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
It's about to pour the beer in your mouth.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
But first season as a married man, twenty nineteen season,
George Kittle, for the very first.
Speaker 4 (19:18):
Time is first team All.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Pro, above Travis Kelcey, who was second team All Pro.
Best season of his career, first as a married man,
they go all the way to the Super Bowl. Kittle
is unstoppable. Let's get Roland Max Crosby. Max married Rachel
in March of twenty twenty three in Boulder City, Nevada.
There were a specialty cocktails named after the couple's three dogs, Leo,
(19:41):
Brooklyn and Dirk Bruce.
Speaker 4 (19:42):
Buffer from the UFC introduced them wonderful marriage.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
The following football season, Max had a career high in sacks.
He led the NFL in tackles for loss. He was
dominant first season as a married man. He's having career highs.
You're gonna hear that a lot.
Speaker 6 (20:00):
Next.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
Courtland Sutton, Broncos wide receiver.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
He married in June of twenty twenty three in Cavo.
Curt and former Broncos attended. Russell Wilson was there, Von
Miller was there. How does he play? First season as
a married man?
Speaker 4 (20:14):
Career high You better believe it.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
Career high in receiving touchdowns. Caught more touchdowns in this
first season than he had combined.
Speaker 4 (20:23):
In the previous three seasons. Courtland Sutton as a married
guy was fantastic. Move on.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
Another wide receiver, Davonte Adams. He married devand back in
twenty eighteen, his high school sweetheart.
Speaker 4 (20:37):
They married at Pebble Beach. Derek Carr was there. Rogers
was there with Dennica Patrick. It was so long ago.
Davonte gets married.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
Next season, out that fall career high in receptions, in yards,
in touchdowns. He had never had a thousand yards receiving
as a single man, gets married, goes for thirteen eighty
six and is probably the best wide receiver in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (21:01):
You call that a coincidence, I call you naive. Next,
zach Ertz.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
Zach Ertz married Julie in March of twenty seventeen in
Santa Barbara. Lane Johnson was there, the legend Nick Foles
was there, Darren Sproles was there. So he gets married.
There's Julie. The very next season, zach Ertz did something
called winning the Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
He also made his first career Pro Bowl. That's not only.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
It, guys, duel pronged in this one, as Zach's winning
the Super Bowl in his first season being married. Julie
is named the twenty seventeen US Soccer Female Player of
the Year. Both Ertz family both married. Ends of the
marriage goat and they gat the field and Dominique keep going.
Jared Goff married Kristen in twenty twenty four in Ohi, California.
Speaker 4 (21:47):
Quote, I'm the.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Luckiest guy in the world because they get to spend.
Speaker 4 (21:50):
Forever with you. Guess what happened next in this fall
Jared Goff career high.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
In passing touchdowns, career high in passer rating, career high,
and wins doing it all as a married man. I'm
telling you we found something. Move on, Trey Hendrickson. Let's
pull from the headlines. Trey married Alyssa back in twenty twenty.
They met on a cruise ship way back in twenty.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
Thirteen, alyssa female, the former figure skater, highly educated in healthcare.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
They get married gorgeous ceremony there by the water.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
The next season. Guess what career high for Trey Hendrickson.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
He was a Saint back at the time, thirteen and
a half sacks. At that point he had had far
fewer than that the previous preseasons combined. And now Trey
Hendrickson is amazing out of nowhere because he got married.
Speaker 4 (22:39):
Next Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
Patrick Mahomes marries Britney in twenty twenty two and Maui Travis.
Speaker 4 (22:45):
Kelce was a groomsman.
Speaker 1 (22:47):
They had a bride cake which is kared in red velvet,
and his own grooms cake which was cookies and cream.
I would go with that one. He marries Brittany in
March twenty twenty two, the following football season that his
first as a married man. NFL MVP Super Bowl MVP
leads the NFL.
Speaker 4 (23:03):
In passing yards. Second Super Bowl ring.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
It's all coming up daisies from a homes as he
throws a double pass there off the field. Usher Super
Bowl fifty eight halftime performer Usher. Usher was married to
Jennifer just a few days before his Super Bowl fifty
eight halftime performance. He gets married a few days before
he does a performance on roller skates. He does you
(23:26):
didn't have to call You got It Bad? Confession's Part two.
Then he drops an album becomes one of the top
selling R and B albums over five years, nominated for
a Grammy just days after getting married.
Speaker 4 (23:37):
Guys, you might say, what about all the guys who
got married and didn't play well? We looked, I couldn't
find them.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
I'm telling you it doesn't exist. And that brings us
to this season because check out this crew.
Speaker 4 (23:50):
All of these.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
Guys on the back of this car right now are
the ones you want to watch to test this theory.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
All of them married.
Speaker 9 (23:58):
Jalen, Jordan Drake, Josh Aaron Travis, My empirical data says
that these guys will all not only have good seasons,
not great seasons, but career high seasons now that they
are playing immediately after being married in the off season.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
This is all positive. It's a wonderful thing. Next week,
maybe we'll do what happens the first season after you
have a baby and see if that's as good. Probably not,
But for right now in the NFL, for better or
for worse, for richer or for poor, it is better,
and it is way richer.
Speaker 4 (24:35):
I'm very happy for you young kids. Go aha here,
no holy hand.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
Well done, Kyle, well done. Listen.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
I was struggling with you to pick for my MVP
this season.
Speaker 3 (24:45):
Kyle. Just the back of that car right there with
the chiln cans.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
Hanging off the back. Now I have my pool. Now
I have my suspects that I have to pick from,
because if the data shows it and tease it.
Speaker 3 (24:58):
Up that clearly, then that's all I need to know.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
And frankly, if I'm looking for an offensive rookie of
the year ordevezif or both, I might be looking right
there at him for the Jacksonville Jaguars mansec.
Speaker 8 (25:07):
I just wrote on the car I know, I know
Prediction week struggles.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
I just everybody in that little graphic right there. I
put all of their names on.
Speaker 8 (25:16):
I took a lot of notes, guys, and I love
what you just did.
Speaker 4 (25:19):
KP.
Speaker 8 (25:19):
I'm a testament to that. K I got married. My
daughter came next, documentary came after that, son came after that.
Speaker 4 (25:26):
Then GMFP came up in that baby. We just went
on that kind. I got married. So I concur I
love it.
Speaker 5 (25:36):
Man, listen as somebody who desires to be a premier
to meriti counselor. I love everything that you displayed out.
Speaker 4 (25:41):
Man.
Speaker 5 (25:41):
A piece and a home creates and produces a powerful man,
and I think you see elements of that. It allows
you to frolic and discovery of what you're made of
rather than just what you've been training for.
Speaker 4 (25:52):
And so yes, it opens you up. I love it.
Speaker 3 (25:55):
You're a pre marital marital counselor.
Speaker 4 (25:57):
Yeah, that's a desire.
Speaker 2 (25:59):
Yeah, Wow, that's a segment in and of itself right there, Kyle,
well done. Did you win an Emmy after you got
married to broke?
Speaker 1 (26:06):
No, but sings started to happen in my career and
we had a wonderful year together, and I started moving
up in the ranks and in production and radio and media.
Speaker 4 (26:13):
It all went well.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
Listen, I'm not just joking around here. I do think
there is something very very important about an athlete's home
life and his sense of self and being calm and
supported and settled, and you just there's so much nonsensus
out of your life, and you focus on your family
and you focus on the field. I do not think
all those results I just showed you are coincidence. Very
(26:35):
happy for those guys, very excited for the crew in
the back of the car, because I'm telling you, We'll
do this segment in December and I'll be like, look
at this, the married crew all crushing it.
Speaker 4 (26:45):
Those guys could all be in the playoff this year
and make a couple of them in the Super Bowl,
who knows.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
But until then, drag those cans and we are very
very happy for all of you and everybody else is
getting engaged in married.
Speaker 4 (26:54):
It's a wonderful thing. Much more Good Morning football. Right
after this drive away fellas, our.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
Next guest is gearing up for And when I say this,
I had to do like an old lady. Look at
my paper, am I saying? This right, you're.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
Seven in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
The defensive tackle for the Tennessee Titans that is ever
so potent for this team, making tough tackles off the
field as well with his tackle Overdoses Now campaign. It's
our friend, Jeffrey Simmons, what's going on?
Speaker 6 (27:24):
Two?
Speaker 3 (27:27):
Great to see you.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
You are glowing and perhaps it's because you are basking
in your time off season from camp, but it's it's
we are at the doorstep of your seven for you?
First of all, did you do you have time to
do what I just did about your own self, which
is I can't believe this is your seven for me
in the professional Football League?
Speaker 4 (27:46):
Definitely pretty much.
Speaker 10 (27:48):
Especially I want to say, like the last two weeks,
get ready to get ready to go to camp, because
I know I'm gearing up. I'm talking to my training
like bro, like this is year seven already.
Speaker 4 (27:58):
Like every day you wake.
Speaker 10 (28:01):
Up, it's just like time flies, and you know you
get to thank it for granted. You know, I'm thankful
and grateful just to be able to still be able
to play this game. Say, we all know the lifespans
of an NFL whoever, say place span of an NFL
athlete and you know, make it to that second contract
and to make it at year seven, it's a blessing
(28:21):
and it's one of the hardest team to do.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
So I'm grateful absolutely.
Speaker 5 (28:24):
And listen, you guys have the number one pick overall
and cam Ward I'm.
Speaker 4 (28:28):
High on him.
Speaker 5 (28:29):
He has not been getting the attention he deserves throughout
the whole entire offseason.
Speaker 4 (28:34):
But you've got a chance to see him up close
and personal.
Speaker 5 (28:37):
What are some things that you've seen from him that
you're excited for everyone else to see?
Speaker 10 (28:43):
You know, first off, you know, I think that our
team Tennessee Titans never get the respect and attention we need.
I never seen the number one pick overall never get
the respect and you know, quite frankly in the attention
that he deserves. You know, I went to Mini camp
and you know, first off, I met cam for the
first time, who was at a private birth. They parted
(29:05):
that Saturday before the Mini camp, a week before Mini camp,
and we met and of course we were talking to
list Smack. Then I was like, I heard you've been
slicing the guys up. You've been talking smack. I said,
I'm gonna bring that to you too, man Like I
talked Smack, but you know we started there and then
just to be able to get that relationship with him
off the field, you know, we chopped it up for
(29:26):
a long time. You know, we talked about fishing and
things that he liked to do off the field, and
I think that's what mattered the most for me, is
especially young guys, trying to gain the relationship with guys
off the field to make them feel comfortable. We know
that cam Warre is gonna have to play football for
this season, and it's my goal and my job to
you know, help him out. You know, going to year seven,
(29:48):
I think I've been the longest ten of Titans, you
know with Tennessey, just to try to make him feel
at home from a vet. You know, it's crazy to
say that now that you know you're seven a vet,
but you know, it's been. It's been unbelievable with his
you know, I'm sure you guys saw it, but I
mean cam Ward went to It was in mini camp
and you know it was out the play we stopped him.
(30:11):
I think I ended up getting a sack and all
of a sudden we're talking Smack and Kelli give him
the Dane play. And I'm like, you know, I'm still
talking smack to Him'm doing because that's my game, Like
I want to talk smack to I want to get
in your head.
Speaker 4 (30:22):
It didn't phaze him.
Speaker 10 (30:23):
You know, He's still talking smack while CALLI getting getting
the play to him, still talking smack, Keller getting to play.
He giving the play to the offense, still talk smack
to me, and I'm like giving the play. And literally
when he gave him that play that came through the line.
The next play, when after the smack talk he threw
an eighty yarld bomb to Kevin. Really so that just
(30:44):
a swagger that right there showed me like we got
us one. He's he's a legit and you know, and
I think where we're at right now with like I said,
him not getting enough praise and like I said, who
knows who is not knowing that number one pick overall
don't get the attention and the praise that he deserved.
But I think that's a chip on the show. You
(31:05):
could tell the way he go about his bidding, his
swagger here to me, Demani, I like, there's gonna be
one of the ones that you know, we I'm excited
to see. I'm excited to get back to camp, but
the next next week to be more around him and
to learn a little more about him. But man, it's
been unbelievable to get to know him. We're suppose to
be going fishing. We've been talking lists back too, off
the field with fishing. I don't think nobody in that
(31:27):
locker room cant fish me, but he think he can.
So we're gonna make sure we get that test one
of the off days doing training camp.
Speaker 4 (31:36):
Dude, you got us fired up.
Speaker 1 (31:37):
That was an incredible, incredible monologue and infomercial and story
about this rookie. But you know what, let's let's spend
all of our time talking about some fifth round.
Speaker 4 (31:47):
Cleveland Brown is gonna sit on the bench.
Speaker 6 (31:49):
No.
Speaker 1 (31:49):
I love Caim Wore. I think this is awesome. I
love that you got into that. But dude, I gotta
go to the d line room because I love Tavandre Sweat.
Speaker 4 (31:59):
We do something here called Angry Runs, where.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
We send out scepters and we talk about dudes running
people over.
Speaker 4 (32:04):
Are you?
Speaker 1 (32:04):
We've said a lots into the Titans. Will Levis won one,
Derrick Henry went like twenty. I've never been happier than
to send it to Devandre Sweat for doing what we're
going to show you, Like.
Speaker 4 (32:13):
Let's just cueue this up. I want to see. I
want you to take me through this play because it
made me so happy.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
Roll the video of to and Andre Sweat last season
getting the angry run.
Speaker 4 (32:22):
Go ahead, take us through this, Jeffrey.
Speaker 10 (32:25):
So I remember this exactly play because almost I should
have had a sack on his play. You guys, go back,
you go back, and you see me beat the break
back guard. I swiped the guard so bad, and Sweat
was on the center and he left Sweat And as
that play go on, I see Harold Andry coming around,
(32:46):
and I'm like, Harold got him a sack, because that's
kind of the play. Me and him drew up. As
you see at the top, I beat the guard. You
see the center come all the way back across the screen. Yes,
I'm seeing Harold. I see Harold come around. I'm like,
this is sacked. I'm not to get at the Celeburgers Harold,
and I'm like the hell like Sweat and took the
ball and just took off running and all I'm saying
(33:08):
like in my head, like no, big man, go go, bet,
go bettle like I did not. I did not expect that.
I did not expect him to run that far. I
knew it was in you know, a lot of people
questioned by his shape. This right here showed that he
was very in shape, because I.
Speaker 4 (33:25):
Think it was like a five.
Speaker 10 (33:27):
Six play drive. And you know that was unbelievable to see.
You know, of course, what's happened for him, and we
gave him a lot of stuff for you know, the
excitement that not just he had, but man, everybody in
the locker room to see a big man move like that,
especially to stiff farm another offenseve Lina, another big man
like that. That's that was very impressive, and you know
(33:48):
that's that's that's what I'm excited to just see with him,
like you know, as you said, like that d line room,
that's that just a play in one play.
Speaker 4 (33:56):
You know, Sweat have.
Speaker 10 (33:57):
So much potential, and you know it's my job to
keep trying to bring everything out of him that you know,
I know he have inside. You know, he's a guy
that been working to tail off. And you see how
that sector looks so small. You don't even I can't
really tale, but man, that's he's a big kid that
you know, loved the game, and I'm excited to work
with him and get back trying to cat with him.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
For you too, Jeffrey, I love what you're all about
because the way you tell that story, you could have said,
under my breath, I was saying get down, get down,
don't cough the ball up and said you're saying, go,
big man, go. That's the kind of support you provide
your teamates. But you're also doing something like that off
the field. You're helping to tackle an opponent that far
too many people are battling with across the country, and
this is known as the opioid crisis. How did the
(34:40):
Tackle Overdoses Now campaign come to be and what inspired
you to get involved in this way?
Speaker 10 (34:46):
It's called fun recovery as you canc to my far
right on that picture, Saint Ryan Kane, and I think
they started fun recovery, you know, to tackle overdose, to
tackle you know, to raise the stigma, to raise awareness
towards like overdoses and.
Speaker 4 (35:03):
Drug drug agree.
Speaker 10 (35:05):
So I think at the end of the day when
they brought it up to me, you know, it was
just like I was. I remember going to a couple
of different events they had. It was like a couple
of charity event that they had trying to raise money
and raise awareness to it.
Speaker 4 (35:19):
And I remember my.
Speaker 10 (35:20):
First time going and I was I think I was
maybe a year three and I remember going there and
it was just like, man, this this is like touching,
you know, because it's not just because you know, we
know the game of football can bless so many people.
Speaker 4 (35:34):
It's saved so many lives.
Speaker 10 (35:36):
You know, you hear stories about guys, you know, saving
lives just by the game of football. And but it's
like when we don't use that platform off the field
to be able to really touch our community, I think
that's can also sometimes raise iro and be the problem.
So my my plan and my my goal is always
used my platform no matter where it is. You my
(35:56):
foundation is supported and I want to support the youth,
but it's also around for me personally. How can I
be a light no matter where that category may be.
And fun recovery of course, you know, they asked me
like how can I be a part of it? You know,
I was asking them how can I be a part
of it? And you know, they who came over with
this thing work called tack of overdose and then that's
(36:21):
it's kind of one of them things where, of course
the game of football tie in. We know how much
football mean to the state of Tennessee, we know how
much football mean to this world. So it was like
one of them campaigns where it's like, Okay, we can
really take off with the tack of overdose because of
course making tackles whatever. And one of the biggest things
that I told them, like, you know, during the season,
if we could, you know, how can we match that?
(36:43):
How can we mash the money they getting earned? So
it's like things like I make t tackle the game
whatever may be. How can I match that with the
Titans or whoever may be. So I think at the
end of the day when they brought it to my attention,
I was like, man, I'm excited for it.
Speaker 4 (36:56):
Let's take off with it. I think it'll be big.
Speaker 10 (36:58):
And you know, our first first one that I was
a part of was in Fincher's count of Tennessee. We
did a rip the cutting word with the vending machine.
I don't know if you guys know much about it,
but the vendom machine is free. Nor can you know
with people overdose and I tell everybody, no matter if
you own it, no matter if you you know know someone,
(37:19):
or no matter if you don't know someone, you just
never know. You may, you know, running across someone who
needed medicine. And I tell everyone, Even when I was
down here at there's pictures right here in Jackson, Mississippi,
I was like, just take one. You just never know
you may run across someone who needed And you know
that just the biggest thing about it. Man, I just
how can I help with my platform to you know,
(37:41):
make this bigger? How can I help, you know, save
another life? You know, you just never know whose life
I can help change. I mean safe by promoteness and
being an advocate of it. So, like I said, the
one down there in Mississippi, that was the first one, and
it was it was my idea. I was like, man,
we need to get one of these down in Mississippi,
you know, because I we did the one in Fincher
(38:01):
County and then we did it right there on Nashville,
and I was like, I think it'd be a great
idea to go to my hometown and do it. But
it was like you know, we were talking about it
was like they were like ready to put one in
making Mississippi and I was like, no, wab Man, I
think Jackson, mississipp would benefit from it more than my hometown.
Speaker 4 (38:21):
So we ended up taking to Jackson, Mississippi. That was
I'm happy the platform.
Speaker 3 (38:28):
So it's incredible.
Speaker 2 (38:29):
I think what you touched on here is what's so
important with problems like this when we use the word
crisis with health issues is that you have to provide
accessibility for people. And that's what you're doing with your
tackle overdoses. Now, Jeffrey Simmons, your storytelling impeccable, your tackle
game elite, and we love you for it. The Tennessee
Titans look for him coming. Not only Jeffrey Simmons, thank
(38:50):
you for joining the show, but also his brother on
the line in his angry running friend Tovandre Sweat and
one of Kyle's favorite players that makes the angry run
stept The look small could have been a sack, it
was not. Instead, it was stamp postage for the scepter
to the Tennessee Titans facility.
Speaker 3 (39:07):
That is Sweat. That was Jeffrey Simmons. We love these guys.
Go Titans.
