Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Door Step of week six, Good Morning Football presented by
Old Trapper.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
Beef Jerky.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
It's Thursday, October ninth, Jamie at All Mansio here in
Los Angeles, Kyle Brandt joined by Mike GARATFOLO in New
York City, which down the street, Thursday night football will
be played. We got a friend stopping by the New
York studio this hour. We got to talk to Baker Mayfield,
a potential m we don't say the middle letter P conversation,
Kyle Brant.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
What else we got this hour?
Speaker 4 (00:34):
What don't we have guys?
Speaker 3 (00:36):
This game week?
Speaker 1 (00:36):
We got a game tonight. We got a whole bunch
of this weekend. We just keep on rolling and rolling.
We're in great moods. New York totally depressed right now.
Yankee is gone. Giants go tonight though. Let's try to
get fired up everybody. It's good Morning Football. Let's roll it.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
Good Morning Football presented by Old Trapper. Here are some
of the facts I know to be true about life
at this moment. This is a show called Good Morning Football.
We are as always joined by Manti Teo Kyle Brant,
Mike Garrifolo in New York, and.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
I'm Jamie er at all.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
The other thing I know to be true today is
that it's Thursday. Yesterday I thought it was Thursday. It
was well documented that I called it an entire segment
throw Down Thursday, which indeed happens today, which is the
fourth day of the work week. So just so we
all understand where we're at, what time of the week
it is. We are almost at week six, it's beginning tonight.
It's throw Down Thursday. And how are we feeling Kyle
(01:41):
about the third question? Are you excited about what we're
going to go down between Philadelphia and New York City?
Speaker 1 (01:46):
I don't know any of the questions at a time, Jamie,
So I'm as excited as anybody as I'm on the
edge of my seat.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
We all just add libs. So you tell me what
is this?
Speaker 5 (01:53):
I don't know what.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
I never get.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
No, don't ever look at the script. It's more fun
this way. I shall begin script throw Down Thursday.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
Throw Down Thursday.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
This is just coming off the top of my head,
you know. Dan Campbell spoke yesterday about Lions Chiefs Week
six matchup that's happening at Arrowhead for Sunday Night football,
and the coach had some very high praise for Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
Of course, take a list side.
Speaker 6 (02:18):
First of all, he can smell a rat from a
mile away, So if you're going to disguise boy, it
better be worthy of a Grammy. This guy sees it
all and he smells immediately. I mean there's clip after
clip of it. Looks like they closed it down on him.
They've got him. The lane's not there, and all of
a sudden, man, he skipped out of one and he's
going to the ground. He flicks it through two defenders.
I mean, that's him, and he's always that type of player.
(02:42):
He's dangerous.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
I'm a little confused about the parallels that were just made.
He can smell a rat from a mile away, which
I assume is a compliment. But then in order to
win a Grammy, it would be a song about a
lyric about it. We're at We'll get on that one later.
Sunday Night comes down to one drive. Here's the question
on throwdown Thursday. Who are you taking? They have the
best of that one drive, the Lion offense or the
(03:06):
Chiefs offense.
Speaker 7 (03:07):
Mantai the Lion's offense or the Chief's offense. Now we're
talking all eleven. But when Number fifteen for the Kana
City Chiefs, as long as he's playing this game and
he has the ball with the chance to win, I
cannot go against Number fifteen. It's like when Kobe Bryant
would have the ball at the end of the game.
It's like I have full confidence and trust that he's
(03:27):
going to seal the deal and close the game out.
I can't go against Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
Guys. I know that there are two and three.
Speaker 7 (03:33):
The ken City Chiefs are things aren't looking positive whatever.
When Number fifteen has the ball in his hands and
the games on the line where you need a field
goal or touchdown, he gets a job done. Yet He's
not only done it throughout his career, but he's done
it in key times in.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
Super Bowls multiple times. I'm going with Number fifteen.
Speaker 7 (03:51):
He's playing at a level that I haven't seen yet
him yet, a level of desperation, running the ball, running
people over. If he continues to do it, I expect
him to be in a lot of the anger run segments.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
But I can't go against fifteen much ye.
Speaker 8 (04:05):
There are a few reasons why the Chiefs are two
and three. My question would be, can you trust the
Kansas City kick return unit late in the game. They
made some critical mistakes, But the offense I can't say
has been an issue.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
Late in games.
Speaker 9 (04:18):
Even in the games that they lost.
Speaker 8 (04:19):
They wound up going to the Jacksonville game, they did
score out't count that last drive. They were pretty much
done at that point when they got backed up because
of that kick return unit. But they scored late against
the Eagles, They scored late against Jacksonville, who was they
rather lost the Chargers, they scored.
Speaker 9 (04:34):
Late against them.
Speaker 8 (04:35):
So still in that moment where you have that offense
needing points, needing a touchdown, they have delivered.
Speaker 9 (04:40):
So I'm still going with the Kansas City offense.
Speaker 5 (04:41):
I'm going to go golf.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
You can make it golf versus Mahomes. I just make
it the entire offense against the entire offense. Detroit has
better weapons right now. I don't think there's any dispute
about that respect the Chiefs, they've owned this era, but
right now, especially golf on the second half, I mean,
I don't do a lot of numbers. GoF seventy five
percent completion right now on the season, twelve.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
Touchdowns, two picks.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
It's a much well, much better, well oiled machine than
the Chiefs offense right now. The running game is significantly better,
and so is the team, and so is the record.
You know, I like the Mahomes Kobe comparison, man Taib,
but I remember Kobe sometimes openly complaining that some of
his guys were Chris Mim and Smush Parker. Now they
still got they still got Kelsey out there, and they
(05:23):
still got Worthy now. But I don't really know if
Shaq is out there with Kobe. I don't even know
if Derek Fisher is right now. But it's nothing wrong
with the Chiefs. It's everything right with the Lions. They're
the best team in football, and I'll take golf absolutely.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
Listen to go three and oh against Patrick Mahomes has
never been done before by a quarterback, and head to
head right now, Jared Goff does it at two and oh.
He was one win with the Rams and one with
the Lions a couple of years back, so he could
become the only one to hit three and oh second
down on throw Down Thursday. It's newly acquired Bengals quarterback
Joe Flackall will get the start on Sunday against the
(05:56):
Packers in Lambeau.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
So he joins the team.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
He drives south from Cleveland to Cincinnati. Now he's got
to get on the plane to join his head coach.
His new head coach, Zach Taylor, who spoke with the
media yesterday and discuss what the veteran brings to the
Cincinnati offense on short notice.
Speaker 10 (06:13):
Brings great, great experience, great leadership. His style fits our
style of point too, so excited to get him out there.
We'll start him this week. So he's gonna take all
the reps, get ready to go. Already spent a lot
of time meeting with us, getting at the speed, so
feel really good about where he's at.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
This is insane that this is happening this way. It's
not as crazy as Baker Mayfield having getting thrust into
action a couple of years ago on Thursday night, but
it's pretty close. Topic two, which start what we'll be
talking about more on Monday, Joe Blaco with the Bengals
in Green Bay or Dylan Gabriel's second start with the Browns.
Speaker 7 (06:45):
Mansid Well, it's got to be Joe flackle in this
first start as a Cincinnati Bengals offense, and I don't
think it's no surprise why he's going to be starting
this week.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
The game plan is simple, throw.
Speaker 7 (06:54):
The ball at number one wherever he's at, throw it
to him, and then hand the ball off to Chase Brown.
Speaker 4 (06:58):
So I think, going against this Green.
Speaker 7 (07:01):
Bay Packers defense, which has been very i'm gonna and
disruptive this year, if he does come out a win,
or even if he does come out with a loss,
we're going to be evaluating that performance. And let's be honest, guys,
when it comes to Dylan Gabriel, the guy could throw
for five touchdown, We're still going to talk about his backup.
So I'm gonna go with Joe Flacklaw on this equation.
Mike g We're gonna be talking about him more than
Dylan Gabriel.
Speaker 8 (07:22):
We're talking about a two touchdown underdog here, Like are
they really going to make it a game?
Speaker 9 (07:26):
Like if it's a seventeen point win.
Speaker 8 (07:28):
By the Packers, I don't know that we're gonna be talking.
Oh by the way, Joe Flacco on his debut with
the with the Bengals, went seventeen for thirty and one
hundred and fifty other Like I just I just have
that image in my mind. I can't gets So I'm
going Dylan Gabriel here because this is a divisional game,
the second game for him, the chance to build on
what he did in the first matchup. And listen, anytime
Shador Sanders is involved, Let's say he's the number three
quarterback and it winds up being belly Zappy as the backup,
(07:51):
which Kevin Stefanski really didn't commit to, which tells you
all you need to know there. By the way, that's
always going to be a topic of conversation with a
lot of people. So I'll take Dylan Gabriel because of
the rookie factor there and also the Chadors Jamie clarification.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
I see at the bottom of the screen. Which quarterback
will we be talking about?
Speaker 1 (08:10):
Do you mean we as a people in the media
in America and in the world, or do you mean
we good morning football?
Speaker 2 (08:16):
Well, since it is a fully unscripted show and you
can never anticipate just what's going to come out of
your mouth, in particular, I'm going to say, what will
you be talking about?
Speaker 6 (08:25):
More?
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Kyle Brant, because we just can never quite know where
you're going.
Speaker 4 (08:28):
To ship it.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Yeah, oh okay, Well, if it's me, I mean, we're
talking about the Lines and the Chiefs, and we're talking
about the Niners and the Buccaneers. Probably none of these
I'm not terribly interested in neither of these teams. But
I also don't like to break the segments. So if
it's we, God bless us, we'll be talking about whatever
is the most compelling game that has national implications. If
(08:50):
it's WE, like other networks, the Browns could win seventy
three to nothing and Dylan Gabriel could throw fifty six
touchdowns and it's still going to be about I think
Shudor should be out there. So there's so many different
weeds going on here.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
Uh huh.
Speaker 5 (09:04):
You know what I wish that we'd be talking about.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
I wish that we could talk about how Dylan Gabriel
and his second start, goes again to play turnover free football,
throws three more touchdowns and is doing all kinds of
fantastic things in a win for the Browns, and his
backup is really irrelevant. That would be a fun story
for Dylan Gabriel, who's a sympathetic figure and seems like
a really good guy.
Speaker 5 (09:23):
So I'm rooting for that.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
I don't root ever really for backup quarterbacks to come
in because the starter is poor.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
Who wants that?
Speaker 5 (09:30):
Not me?
Speaker 1 (09:31):
I hope Dylan Gabriel lights it up. That's what I
hope I'm talking about.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
Here we go.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Finally we stuck the landing on the answer. I was
worried I was going to have to push back again
since our intrepid staff in the production room changed the
lower third to Kyle almost immediately to say what will
Kyle Wow wow on Monday? So he did finally answer,
and it is one Dylan Gabriel who has to go
to Pittsburgh.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
I agree with.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
This is where the tough choice came for Cleveland though.
It was either last week in London against the Brian
Flora's defense, first rookie ever to start in an international game,
or this week going to the belly of the beast
of the Steelers defense. So good luck to Dylan Gabriel.
We'll find the out the answer on Monday. Final question
on Throwdown Thursday, last one. It's New York and Philly tonight,
New Jersey, New York and Philly, big rivalry all around.
(10:12):
What is the better movie scene. Is it Rocky running
up the r Museum steps in Philadelphia or is it
King Kong swinging from the Empire State Building.
Speaker 7 (10:24):
Well, what a great question, Jamie. I am one who
I love to be inspired loved. I am one that
loves to be motivated with a good human being. In
Rocky ball Bull was one of those characters that I
think really inspired.
Speaker 4 (10:37):
A lot of people.
Speaker 7 (10:38):
So if I have to choose between two of these,
it's between a guy who inspired and a gorilla that
just conquered everything in still on top of things.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
So I got to say, Rocky ball.
Speaker 7 (10:47):
Bull running up these stairs with all of the people
following him following him iconic, iconic, and inspirational.
Speaker 4 (10:54):
So that's where I'm going, Mike.
Speaker 8 (10:55):
G When it comes to the Giants and the Eagles,
I remained incredibly objective. In fact, tonight, I will make
sure to wear neither blue nor green while I am
covering this game, because I don't want to hear it
from either side of this one. But being a fully
born and bred Philadelphia are you kidding me? I gotta
go Rocky on this one. Look, the Rocky series as
it went on became a caricature and Rocky four as
(11:17):
much as I love it, Rocky ending the Cold War?
Speaker 9 (11:19):
What are you kidding me? But Rocky the original was
a film, not a movie.
Speaker 4 (11:24):
A film.
Speaker 9 (11:25):
They invented the steady cam so that they.
Speaker 8 (11:28):
Can shoot that scene where he's running up to save,
and the steady cam is something we use at NFL Network.
But I love this image here because as he's running,
you got kids falling over benches, you got kids getting
trampled in the fountain. Like That's the best part of
it to me, is everything that is happening in the background,
the fighting spirit of Philadelphia.
Speaker 9 (11:46):
Yeah, it's happening back there too.
Speaker 4 (11:47):
It's all real too.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
Like if you read a lot about that sequence when
he's running through the towns and the fruit stands and everything,
they're not paid extras. It's fully gorilla style. People don't
even know there's a movie going. That's really cool. Rocky
maybe the third best film in the franchise, though maybe
probably fourth, but lout transition, I mean it's it's and
I don't mean I don't mean the Peter Jackson version,
which is kind of okay, I'm not about the nineteen
(12:09):
thirty three version. You know what a miracle this is
that they pulled that off. Guys, imagine the mind blowing factor.
There you were looking at a gorilla on top of
a building with biplanes. At this point, like in the
United States, they didn't even have penicillin yet, all right,
they didn't have television.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
This is a miracle.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
People were fainting in the cinemas that the fact that
they can make those images appear. They hadn't invented the helicopter.
Fbr was as the president. He's the guy who is
in President one. This movie is being made an absolute revelation.
In the end, Beauty Killed the Beast. That movie made
ten million dollars in nineteen thirty three, which is like
(12:46):
a third of a billion now, and people are just
going back and back. A complete miracle. It's almost one
hundred years old. I respect that I never seen it.
Of course it'd be tedious for me. I'm from the
younger generation, but I have to give respect. It's amazing.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
I can't believe you just called watching an old film
tedious for you, Kyle. That's very unlike you. Normally you
would say like I want to because of its original
authenticity in the film development dynamic.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
Yeah, I'm not a cinephile like that. I don't watch
those old black and white movies. My old fashioned films
are like nineteen eighty one. Like I'll watch war Games
with Broaderick and that's like an old film for me.
That's I don't go back to that on stuff. I'm
not sophisticated enough.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
Sorry, all right, I want to make sure we anticipate
egg being thrown at us. How do you guys stand on?
You know, there was coverage earlier this year on a
CBS game that I an Eagle called where I and
essentially demanded that the billboards that were shown coming back
from commercial were that of New Jersey. Indeed, and you
know because the Giants and the Jets their facilities are
in Jersey malef Stadium in Jersey. Do you guys have
(13:44):
any issue with the fact that our final Throatown Thursday
was that based of New York City and Philadelphia? Should
it have been like the fact that American Gangster was
set in New Jersey and for the Rocky Steps or something.
Speaker 8 (13:56):
Yeah, I mean, listen, Iron Eagle is a Jersey guy,
so any you know it was the Nets broadcaster.
Speaker 9 (14:01):
The New Well previously New Jersey Nets.
Speaker 8 (14:03):
So Iron Eagle is a proud New Jersey and you'll
hear it from that side. You really won't hear it
anywhere else, certainly not from the other side of the
Hudson there.
Speaker 9 (14:10):
But I appreciate that.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
I think it's the the iconography is that setrialities and
everything from the Sopranos. That's like the most New Jersey
famous thing. And by the way, I'm gonna relate the
Sopranos very shortly to Giants Eagles tonight, so stay tuned.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
Well, we look forward to that. That's a great little tease.
Ian Rapaport, Good morning to you. How you doing, rap Sheet.
Do you have an opinion on New Jersey movie settings
New York City movie settings compare to filled off and
moving settings.
Speaker 11 (14:37):
I don't really have any thoughts off the top of
my head, but I will say this, it drives me
absolutely crazy when you're watching the game somewhere, like let's
say you're watching a Patriots game and they're like Vanuel
Hall and you're like cool, except that's nowhere near Yeah,
So like I am all for the real like especially
at stadiums. Unfortunately, now some move into the suburbs, like
(14:59):
wherever you are, show the scenic sit that so people
know where you know the game is actually being wait
that I'm for.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
Okay, Well that's good to know. Again the billboards for CBS,
it was well done that day and that is what
Jersey looks like. Speaking of the scene around M and T.
Banks Stadium in Baltimore is perfectly Baltimore. It's everything charms city. However,
not much charming stuff going on with the Ravens lately.
Lamar Jackson with the latest with the Baltimore quarterback.
Speaker 11 (15:24):
M and T Banks Stadium actually in Baltimore, So the
sating state shower of Baltimore, which is great, not looking
good for Lamar Jackson. The Baltimore Ravens starting quarterback this
week did not practice yesterday with a hamstring injury. There's
basically no history this season or really other season of
a starting quarterback not being out in the field on
Wednesday and somehow playing on Sunday, especially when he didn't
(15:46):
play the previous week. Thin get safe to say Lamar
Jackson's status for this week against the Rams and a
huge game is very much in doubt.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
They have the bye week after.
Speaker 11 (15:55):
This, so maybe he is back after the buye certainly
will need the time to heal up, gets that extra week.
Speaker 9 (16:01):
It's not only him, They got.
Speaker 11 (16:03):
A ton of defenders out as well. Tough times for
the Baltimore Ravens. Need to get a win somehow, some way.
For the Washington Commanders, does not seem like they're going
to have the services of one of their top receivers,
Terry mcclaury, who's been battling a hip flexor injury officially
called a quad more.
Speaker 9 (16:20):
Like a hip flexer.
Speaker 11 (16:20):
Though he was not at practice yesterday for the Commanders
again because he missed last week, does not bode well
for his status on Sunday. You would think that to
be able to play in the game, he'd have to
have a full practice. Has not even had a limited
practice yet since his injury. Not looking good the Monday
nighter against the Bears, but obviously we will see.
Speaker 9 (16:40):
He's there practice today.
Speaker 11 (16:41):
And then for the Arizona Cardinals, Kyler Murray, their starting quarterback,
is dealing with a foot spring so did not practice yesterday.
Murray was asked after the game how this foot injury
would affect the status to simply, we'll see, and he
didn't know. Not a great sound that he wasn't able
to go on Wednesday, but not considered to be a
major injury. Still, more on that coming. Jacoby Brisset is
(17:04):
his backup quarterback, the same Jacob Pressett that once was
the backup quarterback for Andrew Luck ended up starting for
the Colts. So it could be a Jacoby Brissett reunion
game this weekend.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
New York Giants head coach Brian Dable has had a
lot to assess and evaluate about his team and his
rookie quarterback who is about to embark onto his third
start against the Philadelphia Eagles team on Thursday Night Football.
Listen to what he has to say as he has
to weigh in an ongoing drama that's occurring within the
team and the walls for the team they're going to
(17:38):
play tonight.
Speaker 12 (17:41):
You have to watch the tape. Hey, Jay's open a lot.
You watch him when he's out there, get open, big, strong, fast,
has good hands, can run any route you want to run.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
Sure he's talented.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
But there's stuff going on there in Philadelphia that we.
Speaker 4 (17:59):
Have to talk about.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
We have a friend of the show joining us in
New York City. Isaac Groschell has just run in off
the street apparently with Kyle Brandt and Mike Garrifolo joining
Mantai and I on GMFB. Isaac, how are you? And
also you must have a take or two about this
Brian Dable assessing whatever is going on in Philadelphia.
Speaker 13 (18:19):
Well, first off, it's unbelievable to be here, by the way,
that is just like it's kind of like inception, right
like I went to here, now I'm here. It's the
dream with the dream nice it is, it is. It's
unbelievable and everybody looks great. So you thanks for having me.
But Jamie, I'm sorry, I got distracted, team repeating.
Speaker 5 (18:35):
Gorgeous man, get overwhelmed.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
Go ahead, Jamie, team up again.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
Eight years in the NFL Marathon Runner. It's all working
for isisat Rochelle. But when you sit down, Isaac, you
just got to jump right into the conversation because we're
looking at Thursday night football. There was a non player's
only meeting that went down between the triangle of the
offensive stars of Philadelphia. A. J. Brown, Jalen Hurts, Is,
Taquon Barkley, Brian Dabeles weighing in on it. Now that
they're all very talented, what do you make of this?
(19:00):
And what's been happening with Philadelphia recently.
Speaker 13 (19:02):
Yeah, Well, first off, Brian day Ball has to talk
about this, right, they're gonna ask him about it.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
It's a talking point, So I get that.
Speaker 13 (19:09):
I think it's great that this Egos team is having
this meeting when they're actually playing very well. I mean,
they're four to one, they're in a good place. It's
not like the season's over. Usually these meetings happen when
it's chaos, right. I've been in a lot of these
meetings when it's just survival mode, you're looking for an answer.
I think this is a really good time to have
this meeting, and it's a testament to the leadership that
they have.
Speaker 8 (19:27):
So some people felt like he was sort of poking
the bear there by saying he's open.
Speaker 9 (19:32):
He's open. However, oh yeah, oh.
Speaker 5 (19:35):
Yeah, but I don't know what the problem is. He's
wide O.
Speaker 8 (19:38):
He's open, like I'm and if he was, it's actually
well crafted because like, oh, I'm complimenting, we got to
cover him because this guy can get open.
Speaker 9 (19:46):
But also, hey, Jalen, did you get any of that
from that?
Speaker 4 (19:49):
Just now? Yeah?
Speaker 13 (19:50):
Again, I think it's kind of one of those things
that's just going to happen, right, It's like you said, Kyle,
like he's open.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
That's the point, and.
Speaker 13 (19:56):
That's where the drama has come from. And I won't
even call it drama, but where the discussions within their
team have come from. They got to figure it out.
I mean, it's a key piece they're going too again.
They have great leadership, they have a phenomenal coach. They're
gonna get where they need to go. But yeah, it
is funny day bo just you know, just kind of
poorn gash on.
Speaker 4 (20:13):
The fire a little bit. Tayo, what do you think?
Speaker 7 (20:15):
Well, this is what I think, guys number one. It's
good to see Isaac. It's a little opposite because you
live kind of where me and Jamie live.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
Get you're in New York. Yeah we're really Yeah, yeah,
it don't make it. I'm still kind of get over that.
Speaker 7 (20:25):
But in regards to this situation AJ Brown, listen, the
effects are this. AJ Brown is a counter punch to
the Saquon Barkley effects. So if I'm Kevin Pattullo, it
was amazing how AJ Brown starts voicing his frustrations and
then they start to throw the ball a lot like
if I'm Kevin Patulo. Stick to your guns, and the
main gun that you have is is Saquon Barkley in
(20:46):
that running game.
Speaker 4 (20:46):
Get that going first.
Speaker 7 (20:48):
Once you get that going first, now that makes things
a lot easier for AJ Brown and being able to
hurt people in the secondary. But again with this Philadelphia
Eagles offense and their attack, the first punch was always
the run game. The counter is AJ Brown. But until
you establish the run game, which they haven't been able
to do the first five weeks of the season, AJ
(21:09):
Brown is going to continue to be frustrated. So get
Sekwon going in the run game, get some sort of
threat on the ground. That way you could feed AJ
Brown and those things, and I think everybody will be
happy after that.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
We'll find out, won't we man tie? Some of this
feels very very familiar as we come to New Jersey tonight.
So I had some things to say about this, and
I'm going to go a little bit deep on it. So,
the Philadelphia Eagles are having some problems with the organization.
I used the word organization loosely, some chemistry problems, some relationships,
(21:44):
some beef, and I don't see it so much as
a meeting between AJ Brown and Jalen Hurts as something
called a sit down, A sit down.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
Very loaded phrase.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
And as it so happens, they're coming tonight right up
the street from the bottom Bank. I think the sit
down goes like this. As you know, Aja asked me
to arrange this after the loss to Denver. It's correction,
you asked me to attend.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
I agreed.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
Now, I wouldn't call it a sit down because of
the inclement negative implications. Let's call it a meeting of
the football minds. Now, for whatever reason, certain incidents have
expired lately that, in addition to being dangerous for our offense,
could have an adverse impact on our respective Super Bowl
bottom line. He just says, I know Jalen's bottom is
(22:33):
impacted on the toush push every single game.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
If that's what you're.
Speaker 5 (22:36):
Referring to, Hey, Hey, hey, that play is one of
our best earners. It works, It puts a lot of.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
Touchdowns in our pockets. You want to talk about earners,
how about skinny Devonte Smith?
Speaker 4 (22:51):
And it says what about him?
Speaker 1 (22:54):
Some weeks He's mia a lot of people are concerned
about as well being in the offense well as coincidence
would have it. He's in New Jersey tonight.
Speaker 3 (23:04):
Hey, Jay, please Jalen.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
If there's one thing I learned in New York, it's this,
a pine of passing game costs.
Speaker 5 (23:11):
More than a gallon of winning.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
Our business of football, all of our business. This infighting
is costing us money. What I'd like to see is
a truce on the field. Wipe the slate, clean the
zero second half completions against Tampa, the one hundred and
one passing yards against Kansas City, your eight yards against Dallas,
whatever happened there, Whatever happened there. This fraud gave me
(23:37):
one target that night with zero provocation.
Speaker 5 (23:40):
He says, we won the game. He says, bleep you.
They get up and they say he walks out.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
He says, Jesus Jesus, saquon, why would you possibly bring
that up?
Speaker 4 (23:52):
How does it end?
Speaker 1 (23:53):
We will find out tonight that other one did not
end well. A lot of beef ends up getting run
over at the gas station. We're doing onion rings, all
kinds of terrible stuff.
Speaker 5 (24:03):
Please let this sit.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
Down and with more productivity that does not impact the
bottom line. Everybody got that got it, got it, got
it well?
Speaker 4 (24:15):
Well.
Speaker 7 (24:16):
His New York accents started to come out more and more.
As you went down this, he started to get into.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
Character flexus, which is very tricky.
Speaker 4 (24:24):
What happened there, What happened there?
Speaker 3 (24:28):
Let it be and it will.
Speaker 4 (24:29):
Be all right.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
We'll be right back on GMFB. We all have that
piece of clothing in our closet that you pull out,
whether it be a hooded sweatshirt, a leather jacket, your
favorite pair of jeans or sweatpants, and you're like, you
know what, this fits just right, this is exactly what
I needed. It feels vintage, it feels comfortable.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
It's what you know.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
That is the basis for our trivia this week. With
the NFL schedule in Week six, it's matchups that have history.
It feels right. But we're advancing the story with further
games this weekend, and until they're played, we are going
to ask trivia questions about some of the rich, rich
relationship history that have gone down between the following games.
First up, Mike G. You are up in vintage NFL
(25:15):
schedule trivia ahead of Week six.
Speaker 4 (25:17):
Mike.
Speaker 9 (25:18):
Back in two.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
Thousand and nine, the ten and zero New Orleans Saints
hosted Tom Brady, who were seven and three at the
time as the New England Patriots came to the Superdome
in a statement win, Sean Payton Saints blew out Bill
Belichick's Patriots thirty eight to seventeen.
Speaker 9 (25:33):
Drew Brees was perfect.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
In the game with three hundred and seventy one passing
yards and five touchdowns and indeed a perfect passer rating.
Who is the only other NFL quarterback to post a
perfect passer rating in a game against a Bill Belichick defense?
Is it a Peyton Manning, B Josh Allen, C. Dan
Marino or d Alex Smith.
Speaker 8 (25:56):
Dan Marino is sticking out like a sore thumb.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
I muld have thought Josh Allen in that playoff game
where he beat the mac Jones Patriots in Buffalo was incredible.
Speaker 3 (26:04):
Ooh, but I don't know if it was perfect.
Speaker 8 (26:07):
Now I'm gonna go with the guy that doesn't seem
to really fit here. I'm going to go deep against
Cleveland movie Alex Smith.
Speaker 9 (26:13):
No, no, no, no, no, no, Marino Marina. I feel like
Marino is a is a what did they call mcguffin. Yeah,
I'm going Alex Smith.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
You doing Alex Smith? Okay, I have to.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
Take you twenty five years ago Week eight in two thousand,
Peyton Manning was perfect against the Patriots, and we gave
two thousand the first of five games in his career
that Peyton Manning had a perfect passer rating, which is
the most by any quarterback in NFL history. But Manning
(26:43):
did it with the Colts against an early Bill Belichick posts.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
Right, yeah, that's back on that astro turf. They used
the lighted up What was that the RCAA dome like
its way back before the oil drum Like that's Peyton
answer a great trivia question. Look at Brunski's out is
the old Patriots edge Hall of Famers.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
That was a great little flip flipping.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
Right there, right all right, man Ti, You're right, Come
on Eagles Giants, it's happening tonight on Thursday Night Football. Okay,
Back in Week four though two thousand and seven Sunday
Night Football, the Eagles and Giants faced off at Giants
Stadium in what ended as a sixteen to three Giants win.
Eagles quarterback Downovan McNabb was sacked twelve times, tied for
the most sacks taken in a single game. Which Giants
(27:28):
pass rusher had the most sacks in that shame?
Speaker 4 (27:31):
Is it a Justin Tuck.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
B OCU Manora, C Matthias q Wanaka or D Michael Strand.
Speaker 4 (27:42):
Okay, Justin Tuck. So they're trying to trick me.
Speaker 7 (27:45):
Michael Strahan would be the layout.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
But I'm gonna go be. Oh see, I'm going to
go be. I'm going to beat I think.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
I think you got it.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
Top five nicest men in the NFL. OCU Manora is
the correct Boys. Half a dozen sacks and that game
are a Giant single game record. He broke Pepper Johns's
record of four and a half sacks, which was set
back in nineteen ninety one against the Bucks. Mike g
you threw your arms up in dismay. Is it because
you knew the answer so obviously?
Speaker 12 (28:14):
Well?
Speaker 8 (28:15):
Yeah, I'm like, why can't I get Eagles Giants in
the day of Eagles Giants?
Speaker 4 (28:18):
I covered this game.
Speaker 9 (28:19):
I'm covering the game tonight. Six sects, poor Winston Justice
got no help. I don't know, like no help.
Speaker 8 (28:26):
And the interesting part of this is, if I recall correctly,
this is the day the Eagle, the Eagles, the Phillies.
Speaker 9 (28:32):
Clint, the NFL, the NL East. I'm gonna get all
this out, Chase Severns.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
They caught the Mets.
Speaker 9 (28:36):
It was the Mets collapse that year.
Speaker 4 (28:38):
That's why you didn't give him the question.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
We don't want to make it easy on your.
Speaker 9 (28:43):
A specifically, well, forty nine.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
Ers Buccaneers this week, it's gonna be really fun Baker Mayfield,
Sam Darnold teeing off. This game is otherwise known as
the Steve Young Bowl. Young started out with the Buccaneers,
and we all remember his Hall of Fame career with
the San Francisco forty nine Ers.
Speaker 4 (29:01):
Here's the question.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
In November of nineteen ninety three, Steve Youung returned to
Tampa for the first time since they traded him away,
helping the Niners to a forty five to twenty one
win after throwing three hundred and eleven yards and four
touchdown passes. What was the number one song in America
in November of nineteen ninety three? Was it a Dream
Lover by Mariah Carey Pie Nothing but a g Thing
(29:25):
by Doctor dre Ce Ordinary World, Duran duram or d
I would do anything for love, but I won't do
that by.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
Meetlof Take me back, Jamie, just take me back. I
love it.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
I was a freshman in high school and all of
these songs are great.
Speaker 5 (29:43):
Ordinary world's amazing.
Speaker 1 (29:45):
All right, So listen, I'm a white kid in the
suburbs of ninety three. Everybody's playing that Doctor dre CD. Everybody,
We're blasting it, and our jeep Wranglers and our letter
jackets and our Abercrombie and Fitch. Was a really wonderful time.
Mariah had so many number ones. But honestly, meat Love
was having a moment in ninety three, and that album
(30:07):
was big, and that song was big, and the title
is so weird, and I think it's the goat parenthetical
title of all times.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
I'm gonna say.
Speaker 5 (30:17):
Meat load.
Speaker 2 (30:19):
After a seven year hiatus, Meat Loaf made a monster
comeback in nineteen ninety three with a new album and
single I Know It. They had not made music in
seven years, and they had gone into an absolute decline.
They stayed in the oven for far too long, and
then the Loaf made an active reappearance in popular movies
(30:39):
and television shows like Wayne's World, Tales from the Crypt,
and the Remember Chubby Checker.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
All right, the fact you said Tales from the Crypt
is my mother's milk he's an equalizer.
Speaker 5 (30:51):
Six years later he's playing it.
Speaker 3 (30:52):
Of course, Bob in Fight Club. I love all these pictures.
Love Lady's got a Grammy award, and I.
Speaker 1 (30:58):
Would do anything for love, beautiful sentiment, but I won't
do that.
Speaker 9 (31:03):
It's relatable, oh know what that is.
Speaker 3 (31:05):
There's a lot of theories about it, a lot a lot.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
But I'm so I mean, think of the gauntlet he
just looked at. We're looking at doctor dre Ria carry
Duran Durant and meat Loaf takes them all down.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
I'm so pleased, Jamie. I'm very sad that one.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
Sometimes there's lyrics that just transcend every generation, every age,
and you're like, you know what, I can relate to
that because everyone has that thing that they would do
for love, except for that one thing. All right, moving on,
this is a closest to the pin question. Yeah, grab
your white boards, grab your white boards, everybody.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
Okay, oh okay.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
The Dolphins and Chargers met in the nineteen eighty one.
Speaker 4 (31:43):
AFC Divisional Round.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
It's all right, focus, it's all right. Eighty one AFC
Divisional Round and what came to be known as the
Epic in Miami, The Epic in Miami. Both head coaches
Don Coriel.
Speaker 3 (31:56):
And Don Shulove.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
The Dons called it one of the best games in
NFL history, with Coriel's Chargers winning forty one thirty eight
in overtime back stand foul to the Chargers and Don
Struck for the Dolphins had monster games. How many passing
yards did these two quarterbacks combine?
Speaker 4 (32:13):
Four?
Speaker 2 (32:14):
Okay, Dan Fouts plus Don Strock equals what this is?
Speaker 3 (32:20):
Closest to the pin?
Speaker 2 (32:21):
Okay, keep in mind the score, Manci don't get this.
Speaker 3 (32:24):
Don't get flustered.
Speaker 8 (32:28):
The Chargers winslow carried off the field game.
Speaker 9 (32:31):
Is this what we're talking about?
Speaker 1 (32:32):
You want epic and combined passing yards between Dan and Don?
Speaker 4 (32:37):
All Right, I'll say, uh in Miami, epic.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
Epic in Miami.
Speaker 5 (32:44):
I'm ready.
Speaker 8 (32:47):
Okay, I mean, let's still boards.
Speaker 2 (32:54):
Mike Geez at seven ninety one and Mansai has seven
seventy seven. Kyle Brandt, you will do anything to win trivia. Indeed,
be correct, you are closest to the kid? Was it
eight and thirty six thirty six past? Yes, It's still
the only game in playoff history in the NFL where
both quarterbacks throf for over four hundred yards each, fouts
(33:16):
at four to thirty three, Strawhead four hundred and three,
and Mike G You're right, Kellen Winso the Hall of Fame.
Titand Senior had an all time performance in that game,
thirteen catches, one hundred and sixty six yards and a
touchdown single.
Speaker 9 (33:28):
Weekly clarify Senior.
Speaker 2 (33:29):
Yep, yep yeah, game saving field goal block that sent
the game to overtime in twenty sixteen, This beautiful music.
Speaker 4 (33:37):
Who wants to speak over these highlights?
Speaker 5 (33:38):
Mike Gee, Jamie for my prize? Will you can I
give you a question? I want you to ask me.
Speaker 1 (33:44):
I want you to ask me that you know you
love Camp Scataboo.
Speaker 5 (33:49):
Will you pick the Giants tonight?
Speaker 9 (33:50):
Ask me that?
Speaker 2 (33:51):
Okay, Kyle, since we know that Cam Scataboo is blood,
he is your nephew and you love him so much,
will you pick the Giants to beat the Eagles to
night in Thursday night football?
Speaker 4 (34:01):
Jamie?
Speaker 3 (34:02):
Who would do a big low love?
Speaker 5 (34:07):
But I won't do that.
Speaker 1 (34:08):
I got the bird tonight Scattabo goes for three hundred yards,
But I come on, how could I love your meat loaf?
Speaker 4 (34:13):
I love you, Cam.
Speaker 5 (34:15):
I have the Eagles of the World champs. You guys,
I would do anything for you Cam, but I don't.
Speaker 4 (34:19):
Won't do that.
Speaker 2 (34:21):
Exactly right, classic well done seek trivia Everybody on a
Thursday with a meat Loaf appearance, beating out halle Berry
or halle Berry Mariah Carey in November of ninety three
for the number one song of the month. Well done,
meat Loaf, Well done Everybody, kylie K B again
