was Thursday. Then on Thursday, I think I forgot to
say call on Barkley's name on the air. It was
not a good look for me. It was not a
great week. I feel rejuvenated this week.

be because this Thursday night game feels different. It's hits different,
as the kids would say, because the quarterbacks are old,
as are we, and it feels like we're just all
amongst brethren, you know, football are football fan. So it's
time for Throwdown Thursday. It is indeed Thursday. We have
three topics to talk about, so let's get to it,
shall We even kicks off tonight with a forty one

year old Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers traveling to
Cincinnati to take on forty year old Joe Flacco and
the Cincinnati Bengals. We check in on Rodgers about this matchup.
You're gonna hear from his teammate Cam Hayward off camera,
who then calls it the icy Hot Bowl.

I love it, Aaron. What do you think about maybe
quarterbacks going against each other?

That's great. I mean, I've known Joe for a long time.

He's had a great career, and it's fun that we're

Here's the question which makes for a more captivating story tonight.
Is it Aaron Rodgers getting the Steelers to Super Bowl
sixty and this will be one step one win in
the column on our way to that, Or would it

be Joe Flacco arriving in Cincinnati and getting the Bengals
to the return of Joe Burrow and to a playoff
Berth Mansai.

I got to go with old Aaron Rodgers taking the
Steelers to the super Bowl.

The last time the Pittsburgh Steelers was in the Super Bowl,
they lost to then Aaron Rodgers, who was with the
Green Bay Packers. And what a story that would be
for somebody like Aaron Rodgers to go into a situation
where he's probably in his one two years left his
in his career, a prolific career, historic career, and to
end it with the team that he beat in his

first super Bowl win. I think that him being able
to take this team, him to be able to do
it and possibly his last year in the NFL, I
think that would be the most the more compelling story
for me to watch and most captivating for all of us.

Twenty eleven we're talking about. Was the last time that
Aaron Rodgers was in the Super Bowl? February sixth, twenty eleven.
Grenade Bruno Mars the number one song back then. I
remember what I guessed.

I never thought that was a number one song.

So yeah, that's the more captivating story. I mean, getting
to the playoffs is nice. And Joe Flacco having been
benched twice in two years and then taking a team
to the playoffs, great story.

Super Bowl that's why we do what we do. Aaron
Rodgers getting back there for the first time in fifteen years.

It'll be fifteen years.

That is a phenomenal story.

And this team starting to feel, this team a little
bit right, and whoever plays them feels and they're a

add Rogers to the mix. Interesting to see where this goes. Listen,
the Flacco thing. This is a two and four team
that has all kinds of problems.

He just gets traded in division. It's very strange, and yet.

I feel like I have to go with the Rogers
just because I'll speak for all of us, Like, if
Flacco does this, I won't even be that surprised. Like
we saw him take Cleveland to the playoffs. I'm kind
of almost expecting Flacco to do something special. The Rogers
thing has fifty different layers. I'll start with one. Aaron
Rodgers last year was cut by the Jets. The cut
by the zero to five Jets. You're like, now we're

going to our owing six Jets, whatever the hell they
are right now. I can't even keep track. He was
cut They're like, we're out of here. Aaron Rodgers has
this thing staring him in the face of a The
Steelers never win a playoff game these days. The Steelers
haven't been to a playoff game been to a Super
Bowl since I think Rogers beat him in one. Rogers
also always loses in the playoffs himself, Like that's that's

his legacy. Now, the best thing going for him is
if he does take the Steelers to the playoffs, he
won't have.

To play the Niners because if he did, he would.

Lose like he usually does. So the Steelers going to
the super Bowl means something extremely special other than the
other thirty one teams. Rogers going back to the super
Bowl would be an all time, all time ending Blacko
would be fun, it'd be novel. I think the answer
here is Rogers for the clean sweep.

Usually that's not a compelling way to do this segment. However,
when it's Rogers and a Super Bowl talk, it feels
like it's fitting. Moving on throat on Thursday, there are
five games between teams this weekend that are five hundred
or better. Parody in the league is on fire.

This group arguably takes place on Monday night in Detroit.
The Lions are coming off a tough loss to the Chiefs,
and Dan Campbell now knows that his defense really has
to prepare with what they're going to have their hands
full in one Baker Mayfield guys.
Speaker 7 (05:24):
No, I've got a lot of respect for Baker Mayfield,
the way he plays, his leadership, his ability to push
the ball down the field, make plays with his legs.
You know, I just think he's playing at a high level.
You know, he's a guy that gives them a chance
anytime they're in a game. They play really good defense.
This is a good team. It's a really good team.

The Lions have great marketing. I just love that salty
shirt he's got going on. It's perfect those two facing
off Monday night, Lions Bucks. You can only make it
to one press conference, though, you know, it's tough being
a part of the working media. MANSI which one of
these will you be making sure that you get to
press conference version, Baker Mayfield or Dan Campbell?

Well, right off, rip, I would want to go with Baker.

However, given this game Lions.

Versus the Bucks, what the Bucks have going into this game, Baker.
We don't know who he's going to be able to
throw the ball to. I don't think that the Lions
are gonna make it any easier for them. So I
would love to see Dan Campbell in the postgame press er.
Why because if the Buccaneers do beat the Lions, I
want to see what Dan Campbell has to say. But

if the Lions beat the Buccaneers, I want him to
talk about Baker, and I already know Dan Campbell, being
who he is, he's going to talk about Baker. Gave
give him a lot of praise because we know that
Baker's going to have to do a lot of things
in this game to help his team win. I want
to see what Dan Campbell has to say. We saw
what he had to get what he said last week
after a fight at the end of the game, and
say this is not our standards.

Everything that Dan Campbell says not only inspires me, but
he also gives credit to his opponents a lot of
the time. So if I had to choose between these
two guys, it would be Dan Campbell after this game.

go Baker Mayfield because Dan Campbell's press conference I feel
like are better during the week leading up to the game,

A documentary on it sometime. I was ready when Jamie
first seed up the question to go with this guy,
to go with Baker, and then we rolled the clip
of Dan Campbell. I just still can't get enough. I
love it so much. My answer is Dan Campbell. Campbell
has reached the point when he speaks where he almost
has this quality like Chrisopher Walking or Arnold Schwarzenegger, or

like Boroc where like he's doing an impression of himself
doing an impression. He's just one of those voices that
you immediately hear and resonate, even when he's just talking
about normal things. I love his physicality at the lectern.

He always looks so much bigger than it. He always
looks so muscular.

The voice is so entertaining that the quotes are so compelling,
and they're showing new layers. As I've said, it's not
just all about ride the Lightning. It's after last week
when the fight happened. Afterwards, I thought he was really
eloquent and insightful about that's not.

good question because I can go either way, but I

my twenties. Okay, let's talk about my twenties.

I think I lived one hundred different lives in my twenties.
You talk about going from highs to the mids, to
lows and back up. I go to Notre Game, one
of the most prestigious colleges in all of the world,
and I have a prestigious call, a really good career there.
My last year was able to help my team get
us to the national championship, a Heisman finalist.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
So at top of the top.
Speaker 5 (10:18):
And then the cat fishing stuff comes up after that,
and so from what was so high, now we're low
and we're trying to battle that. And then I get drafted,
thank goodness, get drafted to the then San Diego Chargers.

A dream come true.

I struggle for my first three years there, start to
get my stride a little bit. In my contract year, Philly,
really really good guys. I'm averaging over ten tackles in
the first two games of the season. Third game comes along,
We're in Indianapolis and I popped my achilles, and I.

Everything is great. But in my thirties, I get married
to my wife. Yeah, I have two beautiful children. And
so if I had to go, there's my gang right there.
If I had to hamble between my twenties and my thirties,

there's no greater love than I have for those human
beings in that picture, Like, no greater passion.

And then I get this job.

Guys, outlive my thirties every single day, you know, over
and over on repeat. So to answer the question, I
had a great twenties, A lot of lessons learned in
my twenties. But my thirties, guys, we're just getting started.
I gotta go my thirties.

the wife that he already had in the first place.

He's like, no, No, that's the true love of my life.

I got to go back.

I feel like it would kind of be that way because.

I met my wife in my twenties. I would probably
relive the twenties. I'd make some tweaks.

lessons that he learned and the hardships that he endured.

I would say now, I think we've had enough of

I wouldn't don't leave home without the leather bracelet, would

that I think it's a very cool thing tonight that
these two guys over forty are playing each other and
on this national stage. And I like Joe flaccowinneron Rogers
because they have a character ristic which I find very
attractive in people who are getting to middle agent that
they are very secure with it.

It has never been cooler.

For someone to be okay with how old they are
mentally physically across the board. I think it's an awesome,
awesome quality and they're completely secure, and you don't see
that much anymore now. As for the question twenties or thirties,
my answer would undoubtedly be I'd rather relive my twenties,
but not to do more beer funnels and ice loses
and Vegas trips. It would just be do try things,

experiment even more than I did, and I had a
wild set of twenties. I look at young people right
now and I know several of them, I have them
in my family. I think they are bound by grind culture.
I think they're terrified of AI. They got all these
difficult things. I just would look at them and I'm like,
believe me, young people, you have the one thing that
the richest people in the world do not have and
would spend any amount of money to have.

Time.

You have time, please use it, make bold choices, make
crazy choices. Right now in your life, most likely you
do not have a spouse, a kids, a mortgage, elderly parents.
In ten years you may have all those things, and
many of them are wonderful, but they're not exactly good
for chasing your dreams and taking risks and eskewing convention.

So if you're watching this right now and you're twenty nine,
you're twenty two, you're twenty, please don't be stressed.

About I need to do this in this or my
life's not going to work out.

Make crazy choices, make irresponsible choices. Just do it, because
twenties are the pre party of life.

Who cares you're not even at the party yet. Take
a swing out of your shoes.

Maybe it's in the fair way, maybe it's in the water,
but at least you swung.

In the spirit of having as many Well done, Kyle,

lived the part of your life where your kids were born,

one kid was born in the thirties.

I'll back you up as she who has delivered the
three children. I would do my twenties again, even though
they all came in my thirties, like, because so much
of the thirties becomes about them, about other people in
your life, and that's okay. There's a time and a
place for that, and there's no part of me in
my twenties that I should have been having children responsible
for other people and people.

Relying on me.

So I would relate the twenties, relive the twenties, just
to have that experience again. Because you're allowed to be selfish,
self centered at times, self focused, and then when you
have your kids you can go on and make your
life about them the way Manti so eloquently did. Before

leather bracelet one more time? Just because I like to
make Kyle squirm, you know, I like to see just

I'll participate very quickly because I don't have as much
to say as you guys very eloquently did. My kids
were born when I was in my thirties. I love
them dearly. They're a great kids. Twenties is where it's at.
I was living in Mississippi once I moved out of
my parents' house. Those twenties were not as well. Living
in Mississippi in Starfield College Town, living in Tuscalusa College Town.

I had a girlfriend that I just met who was
so fun and awesome, and we partied a lot, and
I worked NonStop, but we still partied a lot, and
I had no responsibilities except for my job and to
hang out with this girl who's awesome, and I wasn't
on Twitter NonStop.

Is it your wife now? Hopefully? Okay?
Speaker 1 (18:38):
I married her?
Speaker 4 (18:39):
Ben Wow, I thought she was my girlfriend back then.

starting to make it as a football writer. But like

ers and their quarterback situation. Speaking of players in their twenties,
I guess Rock Purty was back at practice.

Back from that turf toe injury, described by Kyle Shanahan
as not limited but very limited, more limited than mac Jones.
He was also in practice deal within a injury dealing
with knee injury. Seems to me to put mac Jones
in as the starting quarterback once again. They do not
want brock Purty to suffer another relapse, another injury, another reaggravations.

Certainly seems like mac Jones once again. George Kittle also.

He has been designated to return off i AR deal
with that hamstring injury. If all goes well, he could
play this week, and what an absolute boost that would
