Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Good Morning Football exactly right Tuesday, June third, Jamie or
and all Isaiah standback.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
We're here at LA. Kyle Brandt is.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
In New York with former Titans VP and GM John Robinson.
He's backward day two and Kyle little Birdie told me
that John left the table with some stories yesterday that
he is going to bring it today.
Speaker 4 (00:29):
He's going to bring the stories.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
We're going to talk about drafting Rob Gronkowski with New England.
This guy's had an amazing career and yet here he
is in Lower Manhattan and the city will change. You
tell the people, John, what you're doing tonight. Mister Southeast
Missouri state, what are you doing?
Speaker 5 (00:44):
We're going to Wicked, Yeah, in the little Broadway Education.
Speaker 4 (00:49):
That's my man from Union City, Tennessee. Going to Wicked,
Define Gravity and Good Morning Football. Let's start the show
here we.
Speaker 6 (00:56):
Go, good football.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
That's all right, everybody, GMFB, Welcome inside. Kyle Brant and
John Robinson sit together in New York. Isaiah and I
in LA. Usually I go to Kyle on the first
comment of the morning, but John, I will ask you
a really quick question. You spent all of three hours
yesterday sitting next to Kyle Brandt, adjacent to the mastermind
of GMFB.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Can I get a.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Scouting report on just how that man to your left operates?
Right now, Kyle, you don't get to speak. I want
to hear the answer from John himself.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:40):
I mean he is locked in. I came in yesterday.
He's got newspapers, he's got his phone, he's got coffee.
I mean it's like a coordinator, you know, planning for
a game on Sunday with all of the you know
madness that goes on the architects. Thank you fun to
watch him. I run double reverse flea flicker on first
and tent.
Speaker 7 (02:00):
That's my call.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
And then if it doesn't work with running again on
second intent, I don't care.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
Let's go.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
McDaniel's going to do that worring the coordinator have for
the New England Patriots once again. We're going to find
out is Stefon Diggs a part of that package On offense?
Speaker 3 (02:11):
We're going to find out.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Last night on The Insiders on NFL Network, we learned
that the Patriots have no plans to release wide receivers
to fon Diggs.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
This according to NFL Network Inc. Are Ian Rappaport.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Rap Sheet went on to say that Diggs showing up
to OTAs of course, was a good thing. New England
offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels likes what he's seen from the
veteran wide out returning from injury.
Speaker 8 (02:32):
He's here today and we're excited to have an opportunity
to work with the guys that are out here and
available to us. So I know he's staying up on
the information and the material and there's so many, so
many things and opportunities for us to teach all our
guys going forward between the rest of the practices here
in the spring and then going into the summer, and
(02:54):
you know the many days we had before we actually
kicked the ball off in September.
Speaker 7 (02:58):
So I'm not concerned about Stephen in that regard.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
All right, Well, that's good to hear, at least from
the current offensive coordinator, John Robinson. Though you hanging with
us on GMTB right now, you spent about ten years,
your first ten of your NFL career working in New England.
You know Diggs as a player, you know what it's
like to work within that building in Foxboro. Stefan Diggs
is now president at OTAs. Despite what you have seen
of his activities in the off season. Does the Patriot
(03:24):
way work with Stefon Diggs and what they need to
ask of him this season?
Speaker 5 (03:29):
Yeah, I mean I think the short answer to that
is yes. I think the long answer to that is
is he willing to come in and put the team
first and the whole do your job mantra like it's
been forever, and be a good teammate and help those
younger guys you know, come along.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
I think it's if you look back at the track
record of the Patriots, you know, they've had guys come in.
Speaker 5 (03:51):
And I was there as a scout and watched it
somewhat from afar. I wasn't involved in the daily discussions
with no Nick or Scott or or Coach Belichick, but
guys like Corey Dillon or Randy Moss or to leave,
those guys were really really good players for the Patriots
when I was there, and they were really good teammates
(04:11):
from everything that I know, they worked hard. I know
watching them at practice go about their craft. They were
extremely diligent with how they went about it, and they
helped us win a lot.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
Of football games.
Speaker 5 (04:23):
I was blessed to be a part of it, and
I expect Diggs, you know, to fall in line and
do the same things.
Speaker 9 (04:29):
John you talking about the DYJ that is exactly the
New England mantra, right, And I'm not sure what Mike
Grabel was bringing there in terms of carrying on that legacy,
but I do know that when they signed Stivan Diggs,
they have an expectation. Right when you sign somebody three years,
sixty nine million dollars, there is an expectation. When you
bring somebody who's had success in this league as a
veteran to start off a new regime with Mike Rabel,
(04:50):
there's an expectation, and the expectation is to be present.
The expectation is to be available, and the expectation is
to bring the leadership qualities that is going to help
advance that role.
Speaker 7 (05:00):
And what you saw on film.
Speaker 9 (05:01):
In terms of him hanging out and whatever speculation you
want to have, that was not a representative of But
do what the expectations are of Stefan Diggs. So now
that you see him at OTAs, you see him working
with guys, that is what they expected and I'm sure
that hopefully they can move forward with him as a
leader in.
Speaker 7 (05:16):
That room and a leader on that team.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
Hey listen, will the relationship with Digs and the Patriots
go bad?
Speaker 4 (05:22):
Of course, eventually it'll burn out. This is what Digs does.
That's all right.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
It's just it's the kind of player he is in Minnesota,
in Buffalo, he's fantastic, and it just goes bad. And
he's a passionate guy. I don't think he's a bad
guy all. In fact, I really like Stefond Diggs. That's
just who he is.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
That's all right.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
And there's a lot of players like this that after
three four years, maybe even less, I gotta go.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
I just the quarterbacks drive me crazy.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
I don't like the coaches anymore, like the weather that
he's that kind of guy, and that's all right. But man,
when he shows up places, he's awesome. He is awesome,
and he is awesome. So that's why the Patriots brought
him in. They're not gonna cut Stefun Diggs because they
thought about it for two seconds. Then they looked at
their depth charts. Guys, the Patriots needs Stefon Diggs. They're
not gonna if they look at their wide receiver room.
Without him, they're not beating Buffalo, they're not beating Miami.
(06:08):
They don't have the talent there and they can't afford
to just wing it with their young quarterback and hope
he can survive on the scraps.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
That they've put together.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
That guy, Stefan Diggs, whatever you think about him off
the field, whatever video he was into, has a prolific
record of showing up places and being outstanding.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
That's why he's here.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
He had the wrong video, frankly, at the wrong time
of year, when nothing's going on, maybe with the wrong coach.
We will do a show about Stefan Diggs leaving the
Patriots under mysterious circumstances, but I don't think it'll be
for a couple of years.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
We'll get there.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
They're going to drive each other crazy, but not yet.
This is still honeymoon phase. When the football starts, watch
how good he is?
Speaker 4 (06:45):
All right?
Speaker 3 (06:45):
KB gave him a couple of years. That's good. We're
going to timestamp that. John.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
I have to ask you know, Vrabel, you hired him
when you were in Tennessee. Do he place a call
in the last forty eight hours and said get here
or else? How does a team go about this when
it comes to off season? And if we keep talking
about this video, he was on a boat people there
and all of a sudden he should be in New England.
Do you have to say get here or else? Or
how does this? How do you manage this situation with
(07:12):
a player of this nature?
Speaker 4 (07:14):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (07:15):
I think, I mean, you have your you're open and honest, right,
You're transparent with what was seen. You have those discussions
with him, with his representatives, with people that are close
to him, and and you lay down the kind of
the rules of what you expect and and what you
want and what you're going to need out of him,
what is expected out of him, And that's that's it.
(07:37):
It's just open and honest and it was It was
brought there to help the team win.
Speaker 6 (07:41):
Uh And.
Speaker 5 (07:42):
I get people have things outside of football that they're into,
but you know, this is the time of year, it's
a young team, it's a new coach. They're trying to
get it back to the way it was.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
Uh And and they want steff On to be a
big part of that.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
We keep using the word expectation, one of which could
apply to their quarterback and the fact that they don't
want Drake May to experience what many do at the
quarterback spot, which is the sophomore slide or the sophomore slump.
You got Stefan Diggs there, you got a first round
tackle to protect him going into his second year in
the NFL.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
John, I got to ask.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
You, what is Drake What does Drake May's situation look like,
and the impact that Stefan Diggs could have on him
and his development.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
And his growth.
Speaker 5 (08:23):
Yeah, well, certainly, I mean, you can see what Stefan
does on the grass right when he's out there on
game day, his ability to impact the game. But what's
gonna what's gonna lead up to that is what is
he doing at practice?
Speaker 4 (08:35):
What is he doing in the meeting rooms.
Speaker 5 (08:38):
You can't be the guy that comes back to the
huddle and says, hey, I'm open. It's that's not helping
Drake May grow. It's like, hey, here's what I'm looking
at as the receiver when I'm looking at coverage. Here's
the way I'm going to attack the defender.
Speaker 4 (08:53):
Put the ball here.
Speaker 5 (08:55):
And I was fortunate enough when I got to Tennessee.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
You know, we had.
Speaker 5 (08:57):
Marcus Mariota at quarterback, and we had a veteran in
Delandy Walker at tight end. It's not a receiver, but
they caught a lot of passes for us. And I
watched those two guys interact, and the lady would talk
to Marcus about the you know, the way he was
going to attack this, this leverage from the defender, or
what he was looking at when he released under his route,
(09:18):
all of those things that are so important to the pass
catcher quarterback relationship. And that's going to be important for
Drake and Stefan and the rest of the receiver group.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
This is the kind of thing though that Diggs has
a doctor then, like this is something he's very good at.
I just want to remind everyone he has this young
part of his career and is in Minnesota. He goes
to Buffalo in the weird COVID season with nobody in
the stands and in his first year has one hundred
and twenty seven catches.
Speaker 4 (09:45):
No one could guard him.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
Remember at that time, young Josh Allen kind of in
his adolescence had a reputation of being reckless.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
He wasn't prolific at all.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
In the first year with Digs Josh Allen went from
twenty touchdowns to thirty seven, from three thousand yards to
forty five hundred, from an eighty five rating to one
Ohero and the Bills go thirteen and three. It was
immediate chemistry, immediate production. Even last year in this totally
forgettable Texan stint that Stefan Diggs had because.
Speaker 7 (10:14):
He got hurt.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
Do you even remember in his first game.
Speaker 7 (10:17):
As a Texans von Digs had two touchdowns with C J. Stroud.
Speaker 4 (10:20):
Immediately, I've always I had to look this up in
triple check it.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
Stefan Diggs was on pace for a ninety eight catch
season last year. It was working. Stroud was finding he
was getting like six catches a game. It was all working.
He was helping Stroud like like he helped Alan. This
is the reason the Patriots brought him in. He wasn't cheaped,
he was very expensive. He's not young, he's old. He
wasn't healthy, he's injured. They had a lot of stuff
(10:46):
against him, but they're like, wow, we need somebody for
Drake who has done this before, who has carried someone
from adolescence to adulthood. Look at Stefan Diggs's sitting there,
let's bring him in here and let's do what he's
done for Buffalo, maybe against Buffalo. So videos wanting the
it's all there. Stefan Days is a complicated personality. He's
(11:08):
great at this and that's why he's there.
Speaker 9 (11:11):
You're absolutely correct, Cad. You talk about adolescents. All of
us here have kids, right, and I would imagine that
all of our kids have a blanket.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
Right.
Speaker 7 (11:19):
We call it a security blanket.
Speaker 9 (11:21):
You can call it whatever you want to say, but
a security blanket is something that's necessary for young quarterbacks.
And usually there's two versions of a security blanket in
the NFL, one of which is a heck of a
running game for a quarterback. Running a heck of a
running game is a great security blanket for a quarterback
and young quarterback because you turn around, hand the ball
off four for five yards. Let's continue to move the
change you throw the ball occasionally we have success. The
(11:42):
second security blanket is absolute gooing that wide receiver right,
somebody that you just get the ball out to, no
matter what the situation is, he's gonna make the play
for you, and he's gonna bail you out. Those are
the two security blankets that a young quarterback can have
and that's what Drake May has. Now they're trying to
establish a running game. You saw what they're doing at
the offensive line position. You saw what they what they
have back there at the running back position, and now
(12:02):
they have given him stuff on it's Devon Das to
keep his hand straight. He can stay in the facility
is stay locked in and focused. He is going to
be just that for Drake May, an outlet and a
safe place to go to whenever he's in a bad situation.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
John, I like what you brought up about to Isaiah's point,
some of those guys in the past of New England
and the fact that there's something about that building when
you bring in a Randy Moss guys like that, that
the expected nature is to show up for work and
to help out your quarterback and help out this offense.
Can you just breathe more life into that? What is
it like and what do you think Vrabel's going to
(12:35):
do in New England to demand this and expect it
not only of Drake May, but the fact that Stefan
Diggs new to town that he's going to have to live
by this as well.
Speaker 5 (12:44):
Yeah, I mean I think that's the standard, right. I mean,
I lived it for ten twelve years. Braves played in
it for all those years. It's the expectation level of
not letting your teammate down. That's how I approached my
job as an area scout and then as a national
scout and then as the college director. Is trying to
(13:04):
do everything in my power to do my job to
the best of my ability, to try to at least
meet the standard that Coach Belichick has set for the organization,
right And I think if everybody in the organization takes
on that mantra, that's how we were able to have,
you know, sustained success for a long time.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
That and the fact that we had Tom Brady.
Speaker 5 (13:25):
But that's I think that's what Raves is trying is
trying to instill, is that same kind of mindset of
everybody in every role doing everything they can to try
to help the team win.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Isaiah, I want to put a button on this. Let's
just do you like the Patriots this year? I'm gonna
put you on the spot. All right, Look at the
AFC East right now, let's say the Bills make the playoffs,
all right, you have to pick one other AFC East
team to make the playoffs, Jets, Patriots, Dolphins. Who are
you throwing in with? Doesn't have to be a Patriots
to mean anybody you want? Why not, I'm gonna go
out of the list that you just said.
Speaker 9 (13:54):
I'm gonna say the Dolphins. I think that they're gonna
find a way to get back on track. I think
that they have a heck of a wide receiver duel.
I think as long as they can keep too upright,
that office is prolific, and if they have anything on,
they're gonna be Okay, Kyle.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
A couple weeks ago on the show, we weren't working together,
but I did say that this time of year gets
a little tricky because I'm starting to flirt with my
playoff teams and I'm just thinking about them.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
And I got the one in.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
The AFC, which is the Patriots for me, and the
one in the NFC, which is the Giants. I'm just
thinking about it. I'm thinking about holding up the card.
I'm thinking what that might feel like. The Patriots have
been on my mind, and I don't know if.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
It was the Will Campbell interview at.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
The Draft, but Kyle, I understand what you're putting down,
and I am flirting with the Patriots and holding up
that pat the Patriot logo.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
Sometimes there's the thing where we always picked the Hard
Knocks team to make the playoffs because we're seduced by
the HBO production. You picking the Patriots based on Will
Campbell at the draft might be a little bit of intoxication.
Speaker 4 (14:48):
The wait, we're burying the lead.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
Did you say we're here in New York, John Toman,
did you say you are already picking the New York
Giants to make the playoffs in twenty twenty five?
Speaker 2 (14:57):
Right, we're just standing at the bar thinking about getting
a drink together.
Speaker 3 (14:59):
We'll just flat right, okay, okay, Yeah, we're good. We're good.
It's just a really tricky time of year. You're just
your start.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Just observe, observe, observing the landscape, if you will.
Speaker 4 (15:13):
The Steelers have their own new leading man.
Speaker 10 (15:15):
Seems like a little bit of a gamble to go
from Justin Fields born too. Is Russ gonna be able
to get the job done.
Speaker 4 (15:29):
Down Pittsburgh Steeler? Oh yeah, that's what we wanted were
looking for back.
Speaker 7 (15:34):
I went to a challenge last year.
Speaker 4 (15:36):
Every time you step into the white line here proving something.
I came here for one reason that was someone super
Bowl that was simply incredible. Steelers came into this game
in first place. They will exit this game in first place.
And this is Steelers defeat the Ravens. That's the reason
(15:56):
they brought in Russell Wilson. Oh, you gotta love it.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
It was anything but terrible to start the season last
year in Pittsburgh, Russell Wilson. It was all working with
the Steelers, but things spiraled as Pittsburgh lost their final
five games of the season and the teams went their
separate way from Russ at quarterback. The Giants then sighed
Russell Wilson to a deal in March, and he has
now explained on the Wave original seven PM in Brooklyn
with Carmelo Anthony podcast what drew him to New York
(16:23):
in Big Blue.
Speaker 11 (16:26):
Turn on the film and Washington's got Melik neighbors man.
Speaker 7 (16:29):
This dude's a superstar.
Speaker 4 (16:30):
You know.
Speaker 11 (16:30):
I saw him watching the film and just before I
try to make decisions, try to get a clear understanding
who the players are this and then obviously you see
the highlights and everything else. But when you watch every
single catch and every single rep and every play you
get to see the kind of player he is. Man,
he's dynamic, he touches that football, he gone, he gone.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
It seems like a good place to start with buying
or keep trying. You got Melik Neighbors and Russell Wilson.
Do you think, Isaiah, I'll start with you buying or
keep trying? Malik Neighbors will usher in a Russell Wilson
career renaissance this season.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
Buying or keep.
Speaker 9 (17:02):
Trying renaissances, renaissance it's such a strong word.
Speaker 7 (17:06):
You know what I am going to.
Speaker 6 (17:09):
Say.
Speaker 7 (17:09):
Yeah, I'm gonna say keep trying. Listen.
Speaker 9 (17:11):
I'm a Russell Wilson believer. I've always been a big
fan of Russell Wilson. I think he still has a
lot left in the tank, but it's gonna you know,
he needs more than just one receiver, right, And I
understand that that's a young gun that they're going to
be continuing to put in the limelight. He's the he's
the future of the franchise, and that's awesome, But Russell
Wilson needs more help, right. Russell Wilson needs tight ends,
he needs multiple receivers, he needs a running game. I
(17:32):
still consider him one of the better play action quarterbacks
in the game. So you know, if he doesn't have
a solid running game, he truly can't be who he's
who he's really made out to be. So I'm gonna
go ahead and keep trying on this one. He just
needs more than that one guy, John Renaissance, Jay Rob
what do you think?
Speaker 5 (17:48):
Yeah, I'm picking up what I'm picking up what Isaiah's
putting down. I'm keep trying as well. Like I think
Renaissance is really strong. I mean, we're not talking about
Benjamin Button here. He's going the wrong way, right, And
he's had an outstanding career, right, I mean, he's he's
been a Pro bowler ten times, he's been a Super
Bowl champion, is Walter Payton.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
Man of the Year.
Speaker 5 (18:09):
But it's gonna take more than just Malik Neighbors.
Speaker 4 (18:13):
To really get there.
Speaker 5 (18:15):
I mean, it takes nine other guys, and the Leak's
an outstanding player.
Speaker 4 (18:18):
But Russ has had a great career.
Speaker 5 (18:20):
You know, there's a reason they drafted Jackson, you know,
Dart in the first round. This is kind of a
bridge situation to try to get Jackson going. But but
I'm gonna I'm going to keep trying here, like Isaiah
on on the you know, the renaissance of Russ's career
here in New York.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
Yeah, we we get seduced by this in the media
because of what you're talking about, the breath of his
career and the stature and all the things that he's
done and all the things that we watched him do
ten years ago. Listen, likely at this time next year,
we're gonna be talking about us Wilson a different team.
That's just how it works now. You would think it
was crazy. Last year was on the Steelers. Before that,
he was in the Broncos. I mean, this is three
(18:57):
years in a row a team has said we're ready
to move on from Russell Wilson. So I don't think
we're gonna be talking about a superstar season here for
the New York Giants. I would be shocked if he
was starting for the Giants still at the end of
the season.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
I would be stunned if he was starting by the
middle of the season.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
There's too many other things going on here, not only
the massive Jackson Dart factor where they're going to want
to get to him when it's time. I still think
Jamis is not an irrelevant factor. I really do think
that Jamis's talent level, experience level, and the factor that
everybody loves Jamis in the locker room. And if you
start out two and three and there's some injuries, like
there'll be movement for Jamis. He has that type of
(19:36):
culsal personality. So I would love to be positive here.
We're in New York and as I said yesterday's John,
we've been here as a show, and I've been here
as a show for nine years, and the Giants are
almost always average or bad. I would really like this
thing to work out and to catch lightning in a bottle.
And oh my god, what do you do with Jackson
Dart now? Because Russell looks like our franchise quarterback. It's
(19:56):
a great career he's had. I imagine it will continue
next year on another team if he wants to keep playing.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
I mean, Kyle, I can't believe that you can go
with the first quarterback the sun quarterback name and not
say Jackson Darr You're gonna fall off your chair if
we're looking at the rookie quarterback to come in for
the Giants at some point, because that with Cam Skataboo
and everything, that there's gonna be a huge title change
for the Giants. Now, what's not changing in Cincinnati at
quarterback is the fact that Joe Burrow is leading the team.
Speaker 3 (20:20):
Last year, he led the league in passing and touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
But sadly, it was not enough for the Bengals to
make the playoffs. Burrow said that if he had played
better last season, can you imagine the Bengals would have
made the playoffs? Guys, are you buying this or you
keep trying Isaiah?
Speaker 9 (20:36):
I am driving by this right, I'm definitely not buying this.
I'm gonna keep trying this.
Speaker 7 (20:42):
Dude.
Speaker 9 (20:42):
Was forty three and nine, forty three touchdowns, nine interceptions.
There's not much more that you can do at the
quarterback position in this league.
Speaker 7 (20:51):
It to be at the top of the league.
Speaker 9 (20:53):
Best and passing best and touchdowns all this stuff. The
defense is what killed the Cincinnati Bengals this past year.
Twenty fifth in defense, giving up twenty five points a game.
That's what killed your playoff hopes. It wasn't ju Joe
and I understan that you're the man, you're the QB.
Say all the right things. Okay, cool speaking on behalf
of the team, but it was your deep ense and
that's that's reality right now, that's what your organization has
to face.
Speaker 5 (21:15):
Yeah, and just to kind of piggyback on some of that,
I keep trying on this as well. And you know,
Isaiah mentioned the stats forty three and nine touchdown interception ratio.
He had the third best quarterback rating in the league.
He was sacked the fifth most times at you know.
Speaker 4 (21:33):
Forty eight.
Speaker 5 (21:33):
I mean, he can't throw it on his back, and
they had a thirtieth ranked rushing attack. So there was
a lot of factors that you know, attributed to Cincinnati
not making it, but it certainly wasn't Joe Burrow. You know,
Isaiah touched on the defense. We talked about Trey Henderson
yesterday and trying to get him back. We've got a
new coordinator now, Golden on defense. So there's a lot
(21:54):
of things that they're trying to churn here. I'm excited
that they've got Tea and Chase back there. But you know,
Joe Burrow just needs to keep playing at the level
he keeps you know, he keeps playing that and the
rest of the team needs to get up to Joe's
level in order for.
Speaker 4 (22:07):
Them to make a push there in January. I respect that,
you guys with Sam and I'll screw it. I'll buy it.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
Why not, He's got to play better. Hey, they lost
to the Commanders. He had nine incompletions in that game
out of thirty eight passes. You got to clean that up, Joe.
You're only at seventy six percent completion. Do you understand
this is they won the last five. As we mentioned,
I feel like if the Bengals had snuck in, they
could have won the AFC like they He was so
good and they finally figured it out. They could have
(22:33):
been there against the Eagles in the Super Bowls. Just
for posterity, we have to remember that in twenty twenty four,
the Bengals, of course played the Ravens twice. In those
two games against the Ravens, Joe Burrow threw for nine
touchdowns in about nine hundred yards, and they lost both times.
It's insane the way that team was wired. The passing leader,
(22:53):
the receiving leader, the sack leader, and they couldn't even
sniff a wild card.
Speaker 4 (22:57):
You respect Joe Burrow here.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
If he threw for eight thousand yards, he still would
have said this.
Speaker 4 (23:02):
No one believes you, Joe, but we do believe you're
being a leader. So that's cool.
Speaker 2 (23:05):
Okay, let's spin it forward, Kyle, in the spirit of
the question that you asked Isaiah last segment, are you
flirting with putting the Bengals at the top of the
AFC and Northex season because judging by some things you
said yesterday about the Bengals and Joe Burrow and the
fact that they were down this year, what does your
heart tell you about the Bengals right now?
Speaker 1 (23:24):
Well, if we step back in the DFC North, you know,
one of my guidelines, I always picked the Steelers to
make the playoffs. They will make the playoffs next year,
like they did last year.
Speaker 4 (23:30):
And the year before.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
But that them is a wild card Cleveland. I mean,
they're the strangest team of all time. I'm just going
to set them aside. Baltimore will be in the playoffs.
We're not missing the playoffs. So, Jamie, it's a great
question because we're always so tempting when we see those
logos and say, oh, three will make it. Yeah, Well, listen,
I'm not even gonna be flipping about this. Their best
defensive player is stopping us foot on the ground.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
And saying like I'm holding out games.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
That is a massive fissure in their team in their
locker room.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
If they don't have Trey Hendrickson, who.
Speaker 1 (23:58):
The heck do they have? Who's going to sack anybody?
It really is contingent upon that. Baltimore's in, Pittsburgh's in Cleveland, nough,
and Cincinnati TVD. I don't have a take right now
until we figure out Henderson.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
Not only Trey Henderson, but their first round draft pick
on defense is also holding also just uncomfortable.
Speaker 4 (24:15):
Yeah, that was a little weird too.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
Royland's awkward too, as was the interview on the draft stage.
If we're going to just keep start playing back to that,
yes it was.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
Why are you mad? I'm just trying to figure it out.
Speaker 6 (24:24):
All right?
Speaker 2 (24:25):
That was buying or keep trying. We're breaking out an
old new toy. I'm not sure we've played with the
randomizer since we moved to Los Angeles, but we used
to play this game all the time in New York
and now we're going to whip it back out.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
Thirty two quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (24:41):
We got the faces on an absolute wheel. I'm going
to ask a question everybody else, stop when it's your turn,
you're going to see a face and you've got to
answer the question.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
Stop giggling. He loves it. And you know what, Kyle, help.
Speaker 4 (24:55):
The randomizer works.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
It's been a little I mean, I'm sure it works
better than the spichometer anything does.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
But let's find out, Kyle quickly.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
What is your demand when it comes to the randomized.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
No repeats and uh, it's guys. If you if let's
say we spin it and it lands on Matthew Stafford,
if the next person goes and lands on Stafford, respind.
Speaker 4 (25:15):
Okay, we'll get it quickly. But Isaiah, you'r a bat leadoff.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
Isiah, you're up. Why Isaiah?
Speaker 2 (25:20):
Why will the following quarterbacks face that you see be
an MVP caliber player this season? This quarterback you'll stop
and then define why stop?
Speaker 7 (25:32):
Oh really? Oh let's go right, all right?
Speaker 9 (25:37):
Bryce Young will be an MVP caliber quarterback because of
his head coach. Yes, absolutely, that's the reason why. So
coming from Seattle, understand the type of offense that that
they are running, and they're going to set him up
for success. They have already got rid of guys who
aren't necessarily on board. They're going to slow things down
(25:57):
and protect him up front and give him the rock
so be able to distribute it evenly and allow him
to utilize his legs and his absolute skill set.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
There we go, one went and out, head coach John,
Here we go.
Speaker 3 (26:11):
Here's your question.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
Why will this quarterback league the lead in passing yards
this season?
Speaker 3 (26:21):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (26:21):
Easy, all right, yes, sir, yes, sir? League in passing yards? Yeah.
Speaker 5 (26:29):
I mean he's got Zay Flowers, he's got Hopkins, he's
got Andrews, He's got Likely, he's got Todd Monkin cooking
up plays for him.
Speaker 4 (26:40):
He's been an MVP in the past.
Speaker 5 (26:43):
I mean, they're knocking on the door of going to
the Super Bowl. Like Lamar, step back there and sling
it daddy.
Speaker 1 (26:52):
Maybe the best team Lamar has ever been on. You
guys took them out in the playoffs, and you're calling
him daddy. Should be calling you, daddy. What do you
remember about that time you guys went in in the
night and beat them up, and Derek's doing jump passes
and all that it was.
Speaker 5 (27:04):
I mean, I'm just the press box was rocking it.
I bet Tanny Hill hit Khalif Raymon on a bomb.
Derek had to jump pass. I think John new caught
one in the back of the end zone. Jarrell Casey
had a strip sack there.
Speaker 4 (27:20):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (27:21):
Vacaro had a nice interception of an out route where
he cut cut underneath.
Speaker 4 (27:25):
A lot of high five in the press box.
Speaker 5 (27:27):
Oh yeah, like it was. It was awesome. Like we
had the governor in the Tennessee in the locker room.
He was fired up like it was. Uh, it was
a it was a great day.
Speaker 4 (27:36):
Awesome, it was a great Did you have a bet.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
With you would you have a bet with your daughters
today that you were going to say sling it daddy
during the show.
Speaker 3 (27:44):
Gordon and I just.
Speaker 7 (27:45):
Going from convince the cup.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
Yeah, random, that's.
Speaker 4 (27:52):
All right, let's go Kyle.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
Why do you want this quarterback selecting the music at practice?
Speaker 7 (28:00):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (28:01):
You morons rigged this so it would be Kirk Cousins
And you know it's going to because all right, any.
Speaker 3 (28:05):
Dog he's in there.
Speaker 5 (28:07):
Oh oh wow, all right, going.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
I want this this guy doing it because he's so
young and it's going to be something that I don't
know unless he's like ironically doing def Leopard or something
like that. I now hand the ox as they say
into my kids now in the car and the stuff
that they play. I'm trying to pay attention to it.
I'm trying to listen to it. I'm still listening to
the same stupid crap I listened to.
Speaker 4 (28:32):
In high school.
Speaker 1 (28:33):
So JJ is from the same area the con the
country where I'm from.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
He's some of that Lagrange Park. He went to Nazareth
High School.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
I feel like you would have good Midwestern sensibilities, but
that what is he gen Z tastes and I'm here
to listen for.
Speaker 7 (28:46):
It to it.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
Plus, being the Ox, you got to be a leader,
like that's a QB one job of the car, of
the automobile, or wherever it may be at practice. So
I want to see his leadership capabilities and I wanted
to see his conviction Jamie speaking of both, and we
just hit the skullhorn.
Speaker 4 (28:59):
That's kind of like your entrance music.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
Your question for the randomizer is, I will this quarterback
make headlines in training camp?
Speaker 3 (29:10):
Stop?
Speaker 2 (29:12):
Oh great, because he's gonna come out I know because Patrick.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
Oh, here's why we're gonna see him.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
No, m he's gonna come out and say we're going
to restart the dynasty.
Speaker 3 (29:26):
We're gonna go for three again.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
And h someone yeah, someone, and because they're gonna sign
someone off the streets and he's just gonna be like,
this is my new guy. Now he's gonna re emerge
with like a new Travis Kelce and all of a sudden,
the football world is going to implode and explode. We're
gonna be like again because Mahomes is going to make
some kind of proclamation that they're coming back and they're
going to restart a three peat and or an attempted
(29:50):
three pet and everyone's gonna be up in arms and
throw their papers and throw their paper at the.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
TV in the camera. That's why headlines, man, these.
Speaker 1 (29:57):
Are renowned U SoundBite giver and exactly, you know every
season he's calling a shot super Bowl.
Speaker 7 (30:04):
You know him.
Speaker 3 (30:04):
You never make a headline. Exactly.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
Time for round two, Isaiah, What what TV show would
you like to see this quarterback appear on? And not
the show Quarterbacks Stop, Nodo.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
Running Back, Let's go Redo, Let's stop, Hey, let's go.
Speaker 7 (30:28):
It has to be a current TV show. I don't
watch more TV. Why not let's go ahead and see.
Speaker 9 (30:34):
I want to see Michael Pinnix on w w E
Monday Night Raw. Okay, I want to see Pinis on
Monday night.
Speaker 4 (30:39):
Raw.
Speaker 7 (30:40):
Yeah, that's what I want to see, Okay.
Speaker 9 (30:41):
I want to see him coming in there with a
six x L hands okay, and just come in and
just slapping people all over the face like he does
all the field to slap.
Speaker 7 (30:51):
It is slap how he's my right?
Speaker 3 (30:52):
I'm sorry? All right?
Speaker 2 (30:55):
John, I was gonna say, Michael, thanks Jutor with the
do ragon.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
I was like for at headshot, I was like, what
is that?
Speaker 2 (31:00):
I'll say, Pennis, John, why would you want this quarterback?
Why would you want to be this quarterback's roommate? John,
You have to have a roommate. You're a grown man,
you have kids, you're married, but you're going to get quarterbacks.
Speaker 4 (31:13):
Here we go and stop?
Speaker 5 (31:16):
Yes, oh interesting, Well, Saint Elmo's is a great steakhouse.
I'm sure he's probably got perks, get us a good table.
He's got a great smile. I don't know, that's a
hard question. Yeah, Matt, Indy Perks.
Speaker 4 (31:39):
I would rather have Daniel Jones as my roommate. He's
not going to say squat. He's going to be really neat.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
His bed's always going to be made, and I don't
know if he's going to bring home company that off,
and I don't think that's his style, but yeah, Richardson would
be a good one.
Speaker 4 (31:50):
Right, I guess got jokes to make. But I'm not Kyle.
Speaker 2 (31:53):
I know Kyle is always looking for the guy that's
like not going to say a lot. It's like, I'm
always like, what what secrets is your roommate?
Speaker 3 (32:02):
You have the perfect job, Kyle.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
My currency is silence at this point.
Speaker 1 (32:04):
That's why people who don't talk, That's why I work
on a talk show for a little Right.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
Where would oh my gosh, this question, where would you
take this quarterback on a summer vacation?
Speaker 4 (32:17):
Stop? Oh bo Nicks? All right, Bo, Well, we're going
to the happiest place on Earth. We're going to Disney World.
I want to see what you're made of your.
Speaker 1 (32:27):
Second year guy, you got one year in the league.
I want to put you on the Tron light cycles
and see if you scream, see if you squeal. I'm
going to take you on Guardians of the Galaxy. How
you react to the certain playlist?
Speaker 4 (32:39):
Do you know I Ran? Do you know Disco Inferno?
Speaker 1 (32:42):
Like?
Speaker 4 (32:42):
Are you well versed in that type of stuff?
Speaker 1 (32:43):
Because I guarantee your head coach knows those songs, and
then I want to see I'm going to take them
out of what used to be called Splash Mountain and
is now has been rebranded trying to think of what
it's called again, the Bayeu Adventure. Do you when you
come down the Splash Mountain bow? Are you ready for
the spotlight? That spotlight being the freeze photographed as you
go down? Are you afraid? Do you flex? Do you
actually show off? To get a sense of this guy's personality.
(33:06):
And by the way, we're not skipping lines either. We're
gonna wait in line and it's one hundred and fifty
minutes for Space mount We're gonna stand there and we're
gonna wait like real people, working class quarterbacks and see
how you put up with it, bo Nicks.
Speaker 4 (33:17):
We're going to Disney World, Jamie.
Speaker 2 (33:18):
You have to talk to each other so much when
you wait in lines like that.
Speaker 1 (33:23):
And we're gonna have a no phone's rule in line.
We're gonna actual conversation. Get off your phone, Jamie, it's
your turning down. Okay, why do you want this quarterback
on your pickup basketball team?
Speaker 7 (33:36):
Okay?
Speaker 3 (33:37):
Stop?
Speaker 1 (33:39):
Hey, yes, interesting that one doesn't jump off the Marquis.
Speaker 2 (33:44):
Because, okay, pick up basketball, I'm saying you are showing
up at the gym not knowing who you are going.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
To play with.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
Organs, you don't know if you're gonna go three on
three a half court. You don't know if you're gonna
go ones and twos, five on five full court. You
want a guy who is adaptable, who is a great teammate,
can push the ball down the field and or court.
I'm pretty sure Goff I just have a I think
he's got a a great spot up shooter, got a
stroke if you will, and U as I like to
(34:12):
pass the ball. I am not a scoer myself, so
I'm a distributor exactly. So Jared Goff and I, and
let's just say, I bet people would underestimate us as
a pickup basketball teammates.
Speaker 3 (34:21):
So that's why Jared Goff.
Speaker 2 (34:23):
And I should be on the same pickup basketball team.
Speaker 4 (34:27):
Jamie, that's heavy lifting.
Speaker 1 (34:28):
I'm going to give out the award for the heaviest
lifting in the segment. Isaiah started out with with the
MVP campaign like early early, early on. That was a
very tough one. And then you got to go Jared,
any question we could have asked about Jared Goff is
going to be a struggle because he's just he's just solid,
like there's not a lot of neon with him. So Jamie,
that's God's work and I will give you the award.
Speaker 3 (34:50):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
I appreciate that. But yeah, I think we all set
up a little straighter. And he saw Bryce Young and
the MVP of Caliber conversation and then ling it.
Speaker 3 (34:58):
What was it to quote.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
Hasn't said, that's my only fans screen name right there.
Speaker 4 (35:07):
Don't take it anybody, Okay, oh.
Speaker 3 (35:10):
Gmp me, I'll be right back.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
Oh my gosh, get us out of here.
Speaker 3 (35:14):
Please stop stop.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
We're gonna do this again, just so you can stop
on Shador and they make.
Speaker 4 (35:21):
Us talk about it to commercial before it stops on
Get out of here.
Speaker 3 (35:25):
Who's gonna make it
