Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Welcome to GMFB.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
I'm Mjacosta Ruiz here in the City of Angels in
Los Angeles withdur Guy, Isaiah Stunbrock, former wide receiver only
known as Hatch, Matthew if you're his mama only and
of course our guy holding it down for.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Us in New York, Kyle Brant as always Kyle, what's happening?

Speaker 4 (00:29):
You guys are holding it down?

Speaker 1 (00:30):
It seems like all the greatest pass rushers in the
NFL are holding it out. We got Hendrickson not showing up,
we got what not showing up.

Speaker 4 (00:37):
We got to talk about all this stuff.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
But there's an always with action the NFL twenty four seven,
three sixty five. We're going to get into it right now.
Let's start to show my friends.

Speaker 5 (00:44):
So good mom.

Speaker 6 (01:00):
What.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Boyen Alsias and welcome into the breakfast table, MJ They,
Hatch and Kyle are ever powerful wizard, always with us.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
See this time he didn't catch up.

Speaker 6 (01:13):
I knew you didn't care. I knew it. I knew it.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
Forward Scarecrow with you guys here.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Our crew was not complete with our our very own
Mike Garritfolo, who was over in Pittsburgh with all things Steelers.
He said he had a very wonderful Pittsburgh sunrise.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
The birds are.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
Chirping over there, Mike Garritfolo, and lots of news already
coming out of there.

Speaker 7 (01:38):
What you got for us, Yeah, lots of news.

Speaker 8 (01:40):
Aaron Rodgers makes his debut really honestly with the Steelers
here today at the start of veteran miniicamp. A reason
for him to be here ahead of training camp like
that was the big reason to do this right now
for Rogers, from my understanding, was to get in some
work with his team, uh, to get in front of
them inside the locker room so that he wouldn't have
to come in cold at the start of training camp.

(02:01):
So that deal officially done, a one year deal. He
said he'd be willing to play for ten ms on
the Pat mcabee show a couple of months ago. Yeah,
ten million. It's higher than that, with a chance to
get up close to twenty with the incentives in the deal.
But it wasn't about the money. He was about the
right fit for Aaron Rodgers. And what makes this the
right fit from my understanding, is Mike Tomlin and the

(02:23):
way that Tomlin handled DK Metcalf as well as you
see Aaron Rodgers DK Metcalf who were throwing earlier this offseason.
But Mike Tomlin, Rogers spoke to a number of teams
this offseason. But my understanding is the way that Tomlin
went about the courting process only added to the respect
that he had for him already coming into.

Speaker 7 (02:42):
The process here.

Speaker 8 (02:43):
So Rogers really excited about the prospect of what he
and Tomlin can do together given all their experience both
as the head coach and a franchise quarterback. And it
begins in earnest today at the start of veteran mini
camp where TJ.

Speaker 7 (02:57):
Watt, a veteran, a key veteran.

Speaker 8 (02:59):
For the Pittsburgh Steelers, will not be in a tendency
in Rappaport and I are told via sources that his
absence this offseason will continue into the mandatory portion of
the off season.

Speaker 7 (03:10):
Here, TJ.

Speaker 8 (03:11):
Watts serious about showing the team that he is serious
about this contract extension that he has not gotten to
this point. We have seen pass rushers, including Miles Garrett,
his fellow pass rusher in the AFC North paid this offseason.
TJ wants his pay at this point, has not gotten it,
and is willing to be fined to prove a point
right now.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
And you know it's real when Mike g has the
NFL Network Polo on all right, lots to cover no
one better than Mike Gerri Folo, Mike Ge, thank you
so much. I'm sure we'll be hearing more from him
than everything going down in Pittsburgh. But let's get into
our own little segment of three and out this morning.

Speaker 6 (03:47):
These are the types.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Of topics that always get us going.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
And I think the most anticipated thing is that Rogers
is there.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
He's official official. I know, you head of this sero.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
Reaction, Hatch when we're talking about how much money we'll got,
so that in a second, But the man himself is there.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
What do you want to hear from Rogers today?

Speaker 6 (04:06):
The only thing I want to hear from him is
I want to win a Super Bowl. Because everybody talks
about how great he is. He's a first time, you know,
a first ballot Hall of Fame and we all know
all that, right, but everybody also says, well, he only
won one super Bowl, right, so he's going to go
in first ballot we all know, but can he say,
you know, I am one of the best ever because

(04:26):
I also win games. I don't want him to come
to Pittsburgh and yeah, we're going to go to the playoffs. Great,
and you know we're gonna go twelve and five.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
Great.

Speaker 6 (04:34):
Like I'm coming here to win a super Bowl. That's
all I care about here in Pittsburgh. I want to
bring a championship to the city. I think if he
does that and give the team that early focus, I
think they have a shot. But him just to come
there and have fun for a year and you know,
kind of go out and you know, spin his wheels
with some new teammates, Like that's that's not helping anybody, right.
I wanted to come in and really kind of set
the effort I guess set the standards a little bit

(04:56):
higher for his career. In my personal opinion, you know.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
I feel that.

Speaker 9 (05:00):
I mean, I think there's probably two questions that I
have for Aaron Rodgers. First of all, we have the
picture of Aaron Rodgers. I'm not sure if we have
that if we can bring that up. But if you guys, look,
I'm not sure that I was aware that Aaron Rodgers
got married.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
But Aaron Rodgers has a fat yeah, he has he's a.

Speaker 9 (05:16):
Fat rings to the money, yeah, I know, listen the
Dark Knight the money on Listen, it's on there exactly.
It might be for the money, but no, in all seriousness,
I want to know from Aaron Rodgers how much work
did he think that they can do over the span
of training camp?

Speaker 4 (05:33):
Right, he has mini camp for a week.

Speaker 9 (05:35):
Or however many days, that is probably three days, and
then you have a break, right, you have about a
five week break, and then you go into training camp.
What is going to happen between Mini camp and training
camp that you're going to do to try to close
the gap for the time that you have missed with
your guys. We understand that you are a veteran. We
understand that you are one of the greatest of all time.
But this game of football is a collective one. It's

(05:55):
one that requires chemistry, is one that requires nonverbal communication.
It's one that requires you know, you being able to
throw the ball in certain places that they know that,
the timing, loft of velocity, all these things that you.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
Have to get in sync with communication.

Speaker 9 (06:08):
So during the time that you're a mini camp at
the time that training camp, how many days are you
going to be spending with your guys?

Speaker 6 (06:13):
Right?

Speaker 9 (06:13):
You know what I'm saying, Ha, did you understand it
as a receiver? How much time are you spending with those guys?
And then in training camp when you're on a pitch count, right,
how much work can you get done? What does that
daily work grind look like? How many times are you
meeting with these guys outside of organized meeting activities.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
That's what I want to.

Speaker 9 (06:29):
Know from Aaron Rodgers because it's not just about him
showing up and being prepared, it's about him being prepared
to being in sync with his teammates.

Speaker 6 (06:35):
Yeah, and I think that the pictures of him at
UCLA with DECAFF is great, but I would like to
see the whole receiving core there, right, Like, Hey, bring
them all off the cali for three weeks or two weeks, right,
put them up really show that you're going to be
you know, I guess into this whole situation and I
think if they all out here working like that stuff,
doing that every single day, and then I can speed
up the process.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Sure, it's all fair, and it's the question of why
did this take so long, and he will be asked that.
He'll be asked that at least one time about why
are we waiting until now? Why didn't we have this
weeks ago? Rogers likes to say, over these last few
years of his career, I'm not going to make anybody
wait too long with my decision, and he did make
them wait, so.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
I think that'll be the first question.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
But honestly, we don't have a game in the NFL
for ninety some days. I almost feel like there's a
game today. I'm so excited for this media session, like
it's just one of the most interesting, introspective guys who's
going to come up and be putting on a show
but also want to give genuine answers.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
I love the Rogers stuff.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
I will never get sick of hearing him talk, whether
I agree or don't agree. I want to hear everything.
What did you think of the series finale of the
Last of Us?

Speaker 4 (07:40):
Who Want Trump? Or Elon? Did you see the Mission
Impossible movie? Did you think it was too long?

Speaker 1 (07:45):
All of that, I want everything, And then it comes
to football. It's just a simple one word question. Why
why are you here, Aaron? Why are you deciding to
still play at forty one, when you've made all the money,
you've played all the football, you've assured, all of the legacy.
What is it because is it the kind of predictable Well,

(08:06):
I want to walk off with the super Bowl like
my hero John Elway. I don't know if the Steelers
are winning a super Bowl this year. Guys, I don't
think anybody truly believes that's a likelihood. It's not like
he's jumping onto something for a few years and can
build the Jets thing felt like, well, he'll spend a
couple of years there and they have a lot of
young talent. Maybe they can make a run. Pittsburgh feels different.

(08:27):
Their best player is not in camp. They never win
playoff games. Is like, I want to really hear, why
why are you coming back when you could have just
retired and walked off into the desert do whatever you
want to do. What is your motivation for coming back,
because apparently it's not to make every dollar that you can.
Because you took a huge pay cut and you're moving

(08:48):
and starting all of this over with a new media
and a new teammates, a new coach. It's got to
be exhausting for a guy who is at that age,
who has very little to prove. So I want to
question six different ways why, and I don't want them
to settle for just I want to win a super Bowl.
I'm really showed up to the Jets press conference. He
had his little line about that I saw the Lombardi
Trophy and the lobby and Suthing looked lonely. That was

(09:10):
very cute. I think things have changed now. The Jets
thing didn't go well. It was really a disaster. So
you're not going to show up and be like, well,
I want another super Bowl ring for these Steelers fans.
I don't think I'll show up with a line like that.
I think I'll show up straight, business like. And I
just can't hear enough. Why I got to hear it.

Speaker 6 (09:27):
I think that's the why is that's why he came
in June and not a month ago, right, not two
months ago. I think that's what he's saying, like, I'm
enjoying my offseason. I'm not going to go ahead and
just go out here and sign too early. I'm going
to enjoy a little bit more. Right So, now he's
going to do a lot less in training camp, a
lot less at OTA's and I think that's probably have
a lot to do with them too.

Speaker 9 (09:48):
Yeah, and that's why I keep going back to we
we don't have any questions, no if ans or butts
on whether or not Aaron Rodgers is going to be ready.
We don't have any questions whether or not he's going
to be able to take on this playbook, be able
to communicate.

Speaker 4 (09:59):
None of those questions regarding Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 9 (10:02):
But this game of football, at the quarterback position, you
are responsible for the other ten guys on the field.
You have to communicate with your offensive line. You need
to be in sync with your center. They need to
understand your cadence, your snap count, your receivers, the communication,
the signs, what's going to be the nonverbal communication that's
going on right Those are the things that matter with
your team. And Aaron Rodgers now showing up when he is,

(10:23):
when it's mandatory for him to be there now under contract,
is inconvenienced to me to everybody else because that time
period that I was talking about when everybody else is
been working, they've been doing OTAs and now they're doing
mini camp. There's that break where guys go spend time
with their families. There's a number of guys. We just
has somebody on here now who's having a baby, right,
so that's their time with their family.

Speaker 4 (10:43):
Now. Aaron Rodgers is coming in.

Speaker 9 (10:45):
And saying, Hey, instead of you guys going on vacation,
I need you guys to be on site with me
working so that we can close this gap.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
That's unfair to his teammates.

Speaker 9 (10:52):
That's not to say that they're going to be unwilling
to do it, but I'm saying it's selfish in the
sense that he is now saying I'm here, now, give
me your free time so we can get be ready
for the season.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
You know what, maybe on his honeymoon. Guys, clearly that's
what it is. And that's the rabbit hole I'm going
down on because that's what I want to hear now.
I want to know about the wedding the day lope,
what happened? Was it Brittany with and I was the
still the girlfriend that he was talking about back in December?

Speaker 4 (11:16):
Maybe Plebstrey, but maybe.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
It's a promising or the more likely scenario he is
married to the money.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
I don't know, but I love it.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
There's many many questions and by the way, Kyle, I'm
not Aaron Rodgers, but I'm going to answer it.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
We needed one more episode of the Last of Us
for this season.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
That's it. That's all I'm saying. I felt jipped.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
Only seven got mar yet I'm not saying anything.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
I'm just saying we needed one more, all right, and
we need one more person to join us. Now, let's
bring back Mike Garafolo, who is of course out in
Pittsburgh right what's going on with Kirk Cousins and the Falcons.
Just because they're in Pittsburgh doesn't mean, you know, not
touching the rest of the league there, Mike g.

Speaker 7 (11:55):
Well, m Jay.

Speaker 8 (11:56):
Once Aaron Rodgers decided to agree to terms with the
Pittsburgh Steelers, that really took the last seemingly clear landing
spot for Kirk Cousins if he was going to be
traded from the Atlanta Falcons to somewhere to be a
starting quarterback, because everybody else is pretty much settled. So Cousins,
who has sort of been in and out of the
Falcons off season but was there for the startup off
season workouts. He will be at mandatory mini camp today

(12:19):
and in speaking to a few folks who know Kirk
Cousins well, both inside and outside the building in Atlanta.
The joke that seems to be a common one is
that there's no way Kirk Cousins, as thrifty as he is,
despite making hundreds of millions of dollars over his career,
is going to subject himself to one hundred thousand dollars
in fine. So Cousins will be in the building. We

(12:41):
don't know what his future holds. The Falcons have said
all along. By the way, Kyle Pitts right there, who
caught a past, he is in the building for mandatory
mini camp.

Speaker 7 (12:49):
In case you were questioning that one, I am told there.

Speaker 8 (12:52):
But with Kirk Cousins and the Falcons, they've said all
along that they would be comfortable with him being the
backup to Michael Pennix. I know that a lot of
folks say, do you really want that? Do you really
want him looking over Pennix's shoulder. But the Falcons have
said they're not just going to give Kirk Cunns away.
They allowed a ten million dollars guarantee for next year
to trigger earlier this offseason without releasing him. So the
Falcons continue to operate as if Kirk Cousins will be

(13:14):
there back up, and at this point he pretty much
is as well, barring an injury to a starter sometime
in training camp for the preseason, maybe even early in
the regular season. It looks like the path right now
is for Cousins to be in Atlanta, but will continue
to keep an eye on that one.

Speaker 7 (13:27):
For now for mandatory miniicap. He is there.

Speaker 4 (13:29):
MG.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
Perfect, Thanks Mike ge He just laid the path down
for us to get to our second down. Guys, what
is the best case scenario for Kirk Cousins this season?

Speaker 2 (13:39):
Hat?

Speaker 6 (13:40):
I think he's in it. I think that he's in
a perfect scenario. I think he's not going into saying
I have to play seventeen games. I might have to
play three or four. I can play well for three
and four three and four games. The biggest I think
caveat of all of this is Michael Pennix. He's got
another coach, slash player, slash friend, slash mentor behind him

(14:01):
that he can talk to and learn the game and
learn to be a professional. So I think it's a
perfect marriage for that quarterback room in Atlanta. I think
they're both going to be helping each other throughout the season.
I think the Falcon could probably have a sneaky good
season this year. But I think from that quarterback room,
that's the best case you can have. Best case scenario.
You can have a veteran quarterback who doesn't have that

(14:23):
characteristic of being jealous or being a hater, nothing like that.
He's going to help Michael Pennis become a good pro
in this league.

Speaker 4 (14:31):
I think it's a best case scenario for the Atlanta Falcons.

Speaker 9 (14:33):
Yeah, I'm not sure it's best case scenario for Kirk Cousins,
But the reality is it's one of those it is
what it is type situations.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
Kirk Cousins is locked in.

Speaker 9 (14:41):
We talked about dug in for guys, trying to hold
out all the money he's dug in because all he
does is get the bad. Kirk Cousins signed one hundred
and eighty million dollars contract for four years. Obviously prior
to them drafting Michael Pennix. That's been the big hoopla,
that's been the question. And then he went out there,
his performance went down. Michael Pennix, their first round pick,
steps in. It starts taking the rings. The issue is
Kirk Cousins has a no trade clause, So he's in

(15:03):
Atlanta for two reas either A nobody saw him as
a starter, or B he wants to be in Atlanta
because he feels like it's the.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
Best situation for him.

Speaker 9 (15:11):
He had a ninety million dollars guarantee in his contract.
By going past the March fifteenth deadline this past this
past March, it triggered the ten million dollars. Like Mike
g just said, so now he has one hundred million
dollars guarantee. This is the highest paid backup in the
history of NFL.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
He is going nowhere.

Speaker 9 (15:30):
So to that point, we've seen other quarterbacks aka Joe
flaccol pretty much say I'm no mentor, right. Does Kirk
Cousin want to be a mentor for Michael Pennix? I
don't know, But the situation is what it is for him.
Nobody in the league, got all thirty two teams, sees
him as a starter. So the best situation for him
is to sit up there, count one hundred million dollars
and be ready whenever they call on your number in

(15:52):
case of a break glass scenario.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
Yeah, I mean it's not what you said.

Speaker 4 (15:56):
That's the best case that's the best case.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
It's and then Penix the best cases Penix doesn't have it.
They start two and four and they say him down,
and they put Cousins in, and he goes on a
run and wins the NFC South.

Speaker 4 (16:08):
That's the best case scenario.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
The more likely scenario is Kirk Cousins just is very
comfortable in his role of a backup.

Speaker 4 (16:13):
I don't know if he'll be comfortable.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
We'll probably be good at it, though, that's probably the
reality here.

Speaker 4 (16:17):
I also have to comment Mike.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
Garrifolo's report, which is very funny that Kirk Cousins would
not dare give away one hundred thousand dollars for missing practice.

Speaker 4 (16:25):
It's totally true. I completely buy it.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
This is a guy Kirk Cousins who eats at TGA
Fridays and pays with a gift card, Like this is
a different.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
Type of dude.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
He's not just giving away one hundred grand. And I
also like Mike your journalistic integrity. Mike uses the word
thrifty thrifty, which is the gentleman's.

Speaker 4 (16:43):
Way of saying cheap as hell. So great report.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
I completely buy it, and I think that is a
factor here. And when you're here, it's Friday.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
I like to say fiscally responsible, okay, and that's economy.

Speaker 4 (16:55):
Absolutely.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
I'm not giving away five dollars at one hundred thousand.

Speaker 6 (16:59):
Let's be sure.

Speaker 9 (16:59):
Let's say for real giveaways a couple maybe when I'm thristy,
when I said the.

Speaker 6 (17:06):
Boy got his own money, the boy got his own money.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
I wouldn't even know what that's like.

Speaker 6 (17:12):
That's why I'm being through ya.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
Welcome back everybody. And if it's one thing we love
at the breakfast table, over some ta facito, it's a
story time.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
And Hatch, it's your turn.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
Because we were drafted by the Minnesota Vikings. Inspent your
early years with Hall of Famer Chris Carter and then
Randy Moss. So what was it like joining that wide
receiver room. I have a small college.

Speaker 6 (17:34):
Well, I mean I got there before Randy, right, So
I got there now just so people know, just so
people know, right, Yeah, I got there before Randy. Then
I was there with Chris Carter and Jake Reid. Big
people forget about Jake Reid against six three two fifteen.
I had a couple of thousand yard receiver receiving yards
before I got there, So you know, it was a
big receiver room, and when mass came right, we were

(17:56):
considered that that ninety eighteen like probably best offense in
NFL history. Right, Literally, we had set all the numbers,
the records had all that, and then everybody was six
three sixty four. And then that next year the Packers started,
you know, they're in our conference, they started drafting big corners,
and so the ninety eight Vikings, that team kind of
changed the whole dynamic of what defenses were doing to offenses.

(18:19):
It's the first time he's seen six' one sixty two
corners because they were trying to match up with us
and on the. Outside and so since then it's kind
of been, now you, know all the receivers on the
outside six three sixty, four everybodys getting, bigger, right longer
length on the outside as, corners and now The states
are going back to being small on the inside because
they have to move. More so that ninety Eight vikings

(18:40):
team kind of changed the whole dynamic of THE.

Speaker 1 (18:42):
Nfl Now i've, asked what CAN i ask some more
questions about the ninety Eight.

Speaker 4 (18:47):
Vikings, absolutely.

Speaker 10 (18:50):
Because this IS i, mean this is a prolific prolific,
team like you, mentioned really an historic team that is
one of the all time what could have been moments
because of what happened in the.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
Playoffs And i'm not bringing that up to twist the.
Knife it's just those of us remember watching the game
in THE. Afc The JOHN. L Way broncos were the returning.
Champs they were destroying everybody you, Knew Terrell, davis and
then we're going to go to The Super, bowl and
there was this hope and this expectation amongst, fans AND
i was a teenager at the time that this crazy
ninety Eight vikings team would be the ones to face

(19:23):
them in The Super. Bowl it did not go that.
Way hatch just remind us what. Happened and, frankly how
difficult was that for you on a.

Speaker 4 (19:30):
Team that was so good and had a disappointing.

Speaker 6 (19:32):
Ending well it seems How i've been going to therapy
for twenty five.

Speaker 4 (19:34):
Years.

Speaker 7 (19:35):
Kyle thank.

Speaker 4 (19:35):
YOU i appreciate.

Speaker 6 (19:36):
You out of you let it.

Speaker 4 (19:39):
Out we let it.

Speaker 6 (19:40):
Out this is what we do On Good Morning. Football
we just get it all. Out, NO i just think
it was we beat that team ninety nine out of
one hundred. Times it was that one. Day you, know
we didn't win the, game we didn't finish the. GAME
i remember, AGAIN i caught a touchdown in the fourth
quarter with like six minutes, left and we were literally
on the sideline talking about making our plans to go To,

(20:02):
miami because that's what A Super bowl was that. Year,
yeah and it was over, right and then just, fate
the football, gods like it's just not going to. Happen
and that game ended up going into, overtime and once
it went into, overtime we were just, like we should
have finished it in the in the regular in the you,
know in regular. Regulation and then from, there Remember Gary

(20:22):
anderson who was perfect all, year, right first kicker to
ever go, perfect and field goals and extra points, right
missus a thirty five yard chip shot basically to seal the.
Game and then they go down and score. Again so
when all that starts to, happen you're kind of fighting
the football. Gods you're kind of fighting fate more than you're, saying,
okay let's just somebody go make a. Play it's just
not that. Easy when that momentum has, turned and that

(20:44):
momentum had already turned For, atlanta you, know they got
a couple of lucky breaks on a couple of tip
balls here and, there and we just didn't. Finish but,
AGAIN i think if we would play that team or
play that, game out of one hundred, times we went ninety,
nine but that one game we just. Cannot we didn't,
finish and it just it doesn't happen like.

Speaker 4 (21:00):
That.

Speaker 6 (21:00):
Right Super bowls are hard to. Win Super bowls are
hard to get. To and that's WHY i try to
tell people explain, This, well you, know my, team we're
supposed to go every. Year and you, know LIKE i,
said The patriots conversation we're, having like let's get back to. Winning,
like it's hard to win in THE, nfl it's hard
to win championships in the. World it's hard to be
the top one percent of anything in the. World so
it's not just things have to go your. Way you

(21:20):
have to be prepared when that time comes as.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
Well it's really eloquently, said AND i appreciate you sharing.
It that, said do you just want to throw up
when somebody does the dirty?

Speaker 6 (21:30):
Bird, well you mean when they say, It, Yeah, like, yeah,
THANKS i appreciate it that right flash, back you, KNOW i,
mean because it's Fun LIKE i, said we laugh about it,
now but all those, things it's. Funny like going into that,
WEEK i Remember Denny green was, like don't let them
score because we don't want to see the dirty. Bird
AND i think they went on the first drive and

(21:51):
scored and we saw you, know in the first. Quarter you,
know things like that. Happened but for the most, part
we weren't scared Of, atlanta like you, know we were
playing our. Game and think The denver. GAME i think
we would have won that game obviously in This that's
WHY i think about it as. Well, again we just
they couldn't stop. Us we stopped ourselves in That atlanta,
game but they couldn't Stop there was no defense out

(22:12):
there that year that could stop. US i mean we
were getting like thirty thirty five points a.

Speaker 4 (22:16):
Game, yeah all, Right SO i have to ask you this.

Speaker 9 (22:18):
Question, now you play with two quarterbacks THAT i THAT i. Admire,
Right you played With Randall, Cunningham, yes?

Speaker 4 (22:25):
Right who?

Speaker 9 (22:25):
Was he made my top five dual threat quarterback. List
some people didn't feel that, way BUT i listened to
me growing. UP i asked WHO i, watched and then
there was another dude who just might have had one
of the strongest arms in.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
The history of, football and Freaking.

Speaker 9 (22:38):
Dante Colepe he had WHAT i like to refer to.

Speaker 4 (22:41):
As a kind of give me a little bit of.

Speaker 9 (22:44):
Understanding of what it was like to play with those
two guys and how were they different as, players different as?

Speaker 6 (22:50):
People? Now the players, again both very. Talented But Cash,
cunningham older, veteran, right kind of was my mentor in high.
SCHOOL i was a, quarterback SO i was the high
school equivalent To Randall. Cunningham SO i was Always I'm
randall cunning, here you, know in the backyard doing that whole. Thing,
Right so WHEN i got to play with him and
The vikings, like it was a special, moment, right it was, Like,

(23:12):
okay this is what THE nfl is. About randall cunning
hands my. Quarterback then when we Got, dante he was
young coming out of. College, wow you, know just you,
know loving the life of being AN nfl. Player but
as far as on the, field they're both locked. In
both had extreme, talent both very. Athletic pep was two sixty,
athletic you, know but And random was two ten. Athletic

(23:34):
but they're very similar when it comes to the approaching
the game and having that. TALENT i can do. ANYTHING
i can run on this. PLAY i can throw at
sixty yards in this. PLAY i can threat a needle
on this. Play they had all the tools when it
comes to the quarterback.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
POSITION i just saw one of those incredible plays By Randy.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
Moss. There you gotta have Some randy, sores especially since
he razel.

Speaker 3 (23:53):
To let us know you were there Before randy got the.

Speaker 6 (23:58):
Hey man from Rand, West virginia. Mine so that you
know what's funny About. Malcy so you, know he dropped
his first, pass right first pass he, RAN i, remember run.
It we just started routes on, there and he. Dropped
he dropped a six yard hitch AND i was, like,
YEAH i might be better Than. Moss and then from there on.
Out you, KNOW i wasn't.

Speaker 7 (24:16):
OUT i was.

Speaker 6 (24:18):
Not so, fast but, NO i think Like randy physically
he was. AGAIN i was six three two, TEN i you,
know ran a late four three coming. OUT i, PHYSICALLY
i THOUGHT i could do anything on the football. Field
he was the first human being THAT i seen, That
OH i can't do. That like he physically did things
as far as torque his body just to the, ball

(24:39):
in the. AIR a lot of guys right, Now i'd
like to get you, know we're going pat and go
at the beginning of the, game, right if you take
one HUNDRED nfl receivers out right, now you put them
on that line and you say stay on the line
and catch the ball on your outside, shoulder, RIGHT i
would say eighty percent of the guys dropped the, ball you,
know a lot of the. Time Like moss could do that,
Naturally and that's kind of how WHEN i was, LOOKING

(25:01):
i was, like the things he did, naturally we was
just amazing to. Me SO i think that the things
he was doing, physically as far as, speed changing the,
direction ie, HAND i had never seen that.

Speaker 9 (25:11):
Before, now WHEN i came into the, LEAGUE i had
some OG's in the locker. ROOM i came Into, dallas you,
know T o was the big homie THAT i.

Speaker 4 (25:18):
Had and then WHEN i went To.

Speaker 9 (25:20):
New, ENGLAND i was on the field with your Boy, moss,
Right so those are the ogs for. Me, Now moss
came in after, you but you had another og in the.

Speaker 4 (25:26):
ROOM i was assume when you were.

Speaker 9 (25:28):
There in the name Of Chris, carter what do you
have in regards to how did he impact you as
a player when you're during your time in the, league.

Speaker 4 (25:34):
How to be a.

Speaker 6 (25:34):
Pro he because again he had came From philly through
rough times In, philly and then when he was In,
Minnesota Denny, green you, know he was on the straight
and narrow. Right so again he was another mentor for.
Me Again, Randall Chris Johnny randall, like we had a
veteran locker. Room SO i learned to be a pro very.
Early so again it wasn't about hanging out or. Nothing
to go, home get your, rest study your, playbook don't

(25:55):
make no minial, mistakes you, know things like. That that
was what was important to. Me AND i remember it
was LIKE i think second preseason. GAMES i remember we're
going to the the meeting.

Speaker 4 (26:04):
Room we.

Speaker 6 (26:05):
LOST i think preseason game Coach, Billick Brian billick put
fifty seven on the, board and THEN i Remember chris
tapping me like that fifty seven for. You i'm, like
what's fifty? Seven why are you tapping? Me you know
What i'm, Saying, like what's it for? Me and then he's,
like So Dinny green leads a room, offense defense breaks.
Up Brian billick's like fifty seven times you ran, smash

(26:26):
nobody's messed it up until the fifty eight, times Mister.
HATCHETT i was, like oh that is for. Me and
but from that POINT i was, Like i'll never make
another mental error in the. Game. Right it's like that
we ran it fifty seven, times everybody got it perfect
fifty seven. Times on the fifty eighth, TIME i made
a mental. Mistake and that's HOW i knew how detailed
the game. Was And i've let me study some more

(26:48):
BECAUSE i don't want that to, happen you. Know, ever,
AGAIN i.

Speaker 9 (26:50):
Gotta ask you a yes or no question before we
get up out of.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
Here.

Speaker 9 (26:52):
Yeah Is John randall the best smack talker IN nfl?

Speaker 6 (26:55):
History? Absolutely, Yes? John then stop he's talking right now
somewhere to. SOMEBODY i guarantee.

Speaker 3 (27:03):
It it is wild how those lessons, right, yeah stick
to you top of, mind no matter, what even after
all all these.

Speaker 6 (27:11):
Years, absolutely because again that's learning to be a. Probe
that's how important it. Was like you, know the average mind,
like oh we got it, Right, no fifty seven fifty, Eight,
no that's not. Enough we's.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
Day he can't see the number fifty seven any or,
here dirty, bird.

Speaker 5 (27:24):
Or here dirty.

Speaker 2 (27:25):
Bird all, right more story time for. Shorts we contigure
here ON. Gia that's Pet.

Speaker 3 (27:40):
Welcome back everybody as we check in In. Pittsburgh you know,
What MIKE g was, right beautiful day looking like over.
There and of course today is the Day Aaron rodgers
will meet with the. Media megro follow always on deck
covering all things for.

Speaker 2 (27:56):
Us So MIKE g give us the.

Speaker 3 (27:58):
Latest what is the schedule for The steelers And Aaron.

Speaker 8 (28:01):
Rodgers, Yeah Aaron rodgers going to hit the field this
morning with The. Steelers he will speak to the media,
afterward wearing that number eight. Jersey you can't Believe Tommy
maddox Allowed Aaron rodgers to wear the number, eight but
that is going to be the case here In. Pittsburgh
And rogers joining the team for the mandatory part of the.
Offseason this mini camp is the only mandatory portion for

(28:22):
all the players around the. League he hadn't, signed so
it's not like he could have been. Fine but my
understanding Is rogers, said this is the mandatory. Part the
entire team's got to be. THERE i planned to be
a part of the, team So i'm going to sign,
now which will allow him to get into the building
right now and get some FaceTime with some teammates that
he's known from playing around the, league playing against, them
but now to be their, teammate to be inside the

(28:43):
same locker room so that he didn't have to walk
in next month at the start of training camp cold
and have some time with. Them he was hanging out
a charity golf tournament For Cam hayward yesterday ALONGSIDE Dk,
metcalf whom he has thrown with this. Offseason that was
part of the process For rogers feeling out The, steelers
feeling out if.

Speaker 7 (28:59):
This is the place that he wanted to.

Speaker 8 (29:00):
Be he visited, here he had plenty of conversations With
Mike tomlin and that Was that's the biggest factor For.

Speaker 7 (29:05):
ROGERS i am told.

Speaker 8 (29:07):
By someone familiar With rogers thinking on this one is
that they always had that. Respect you'd see the clips
of them nodding When rogers tried to snap quickly And
tommy would call time out and, say, no, no you're
not going to get us on a quick.

Speaker 7 (29:17):
Off side penalty.

Speaker 8 (29:18):
There but there's big respect back and forth between those.
Guys but the communication the entire way Through Mike tomlins
said all the right things in ways that maybe some
other teams did not For. Rogers so he, said that's
a GUY i want to play for at this point
in my. CAREER i feel good about what we can do,
together and they can start doing it today on the
field at.

Speaker 4 (29:36):
Minicamp all, Right, MIKE i got a lot for.

Speaker 1 (29:39):
You first of, ALL i love The Tommy maddox shout
OUT XFL MVP.

Speaker 4 (29:44):
Xfl behind, YOU Tj watt is not.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
There one of their, Rivals Cincinnati, Bengals Trey hendrickson is not.
THERE i want to hear about. That but also can
you let the people know. Why earlier in the, show
you described The falcons Quarterback Kirk cousins as, Thrifty and
is that word just the gentleman's word for?

Speaker 4 (30:01):
Cheap it?

Speaker 8 (30:04):
Is, YEAH i MEAN i THINK i would refer to
my father as. Thrifty over the, years the purse strings
have loosened a little. Bit but, like, hey back when
we were, kids you, know it had to be ninety
nine degrees and ninety percent humidity for you to turn
the air conditioner. On, NOW i called him yesterday the
air conditioner was running non. Stop where was that dude
twenty years? Ago, anyway you talked about these guys not
being thrifty some of. Them let's start WITH. Tj watt

(30:27):
here not showing up For mini. Camp he's made plenty
of money over his, career so one hundred thousand to
him is a drop in the. Bucket but it's a
chance for him to say it's a mandatory portion of the.
OFFSEASON i haven't been here for the optional. Stuff i'm
not going to be here for the mandatory stuff. Either
we also saw That instagram post with him flashing the
two up the peace, sign and people, said IS.

Speaker 7 (30:46):
Tj watt out?

Speaker 4 (30:47):
Here?

Speaker 8 (30:47):
LOOK i think in the long run this deal's going
to wind up getting, done maybe even in the short run.

Speaker 4 (30:52):
Too BUT.

Speaker 8 (30:52):
Tj watt felt like he had to make a, point
so he's going to do that by not being here
for the mandatory mini. Camp Trey hendrickson as, Well this
should be no. Surprise we've seen how this has gone
all off season For hendrickson and The. Bengals this has
been pretty adversarial and public with some of the comments
that The bengals have been willing to make as, well
And hendrickson then firing. Back So tom And ian reporting

(31:12):
The hendrickson will not be At bengals training camp. Today
slated to make fifteen million and change this season in base.
Salary we're seeing Guys Miles garrett and the lights up
into the. Forties Trey hendrickson wants to be somewhere in that,
ballpark not even necessarily all the way. There The bengals
unwilling to go that. Far and then There's terry, McClaren
the commander's wide. Receiver has not been there for the

(31:33):
voluntary part of the, offseason will not be there for
mandatory mini camp as. Well we are reporting that one as.
Well he is slated to make nineteen points sixty five,
million or was slated to make nineteen point sixty five,
million because that nineteen sixty five includes a five hundred
thousand dollars workout bonus that he's been willing to punt
on as well as now overall hundred thousand dollars In.
Fine So terry, McLaurin who's a key part of that locker,

(31:55):
room a team leader down In, Washington he's done this
before and he did wind up getting a contract. EXTENSION
i think that'll surely wind up being the. Case the
question is when and does he have to carry this
into training. Camp we shall see With terry, McLaren but right,
now not happy and staying away In.

Speaker 4 (32:09):
Washington all, Right mike.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
G thank you for.

Speaker 6 (32:12):
That it was a lot of.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
Information kyle's always great for a good multi layered tea.

Speaker 4 (32:18):
Up you'll love to see.

Speaker 2 (32:19):
It but there are a lot of.

Speaker 3 (32:21):
Holdouts And isaiah has been right next to me just
like in, it checking who's, making who's making how.

Speaker 2 (32:27):
Much there's a lot going.

Speaker 9 (32:29):
On there's a lot going, on and first of, all
respect all these guys trying to get their.

Speaker 4 (32:34):
Payday understand. THIS i know fans are.

Speaker 6 (32:36):
Like, oh this is.

Speaker 4 (32:37):
Selfish you're absolutely. Right it's. Selfish you're absolutely.

Speaker 9 (32:39):
Right it was selfish when you were six years, old suiting,
up going out there.

Speaker 4 (32:42):
And putting your great hopes and dreams.

Speaker 9 (32:44):
And posters on the, wall trying to get to this.
Point so when you get to this, point you go
out there and do everything you can to get the.
Bag because these guys that we're talking about have, performed
they've done what's been asked of, Them they've got their,
extensions and now this is most likely their last opportunity
to get the big boy.

Speaker 4 (32:58):
Contract we talk About Scary.

Speaker 9 (33:00):
Terry Scary terry is not even in the top, ten
top fifteen paid wide receiver in the. League just do,
it does nothing but. Produce he's quiet. Again he's another
one of those guys who doesn't. Talk he's not going
to be all in the. Media but guess what he's
when he. Speaks he's speaking by not showing.

Speaker 4 (33:14):
Up that's.

Speaker 9 (33:14):
Impact Deebo samuels is on part with him in terms
of how much money he's. Making, so, YEAH i deserve
to get my big boy. Check Trey, Henderson, yeah give
me the. Bag why AM i getting fifteen and the
guy that my stats are literally equivalent to In Miles
garrett getting.

Speaker 4 (33:28):
Forty there's questions that have to be. Asked give me
What i'm. Worth i'm not asking for anything. MORE i
think these guys deserve their.

Speaker 6 (33:34):
Respect, Yeah Scary, TERRY i see what you're. Doing he's
playing the long, Game, jade And daniel is going to
be there for the next ten. Years lock me, in
let me be here with, him right because you, know
once the quarterback contract comes, up then the receiver we
have to let this guy. Go maybe something over. Here
SO i think he's playing the long. Game he UNDERSTANDS
jd is going to be. Here let me go ahead

(33:56):
and lock myself into this. ORGANIZATION d here five six
years with him and grow with a young. Quarterback that's
the best case scenario for a. Receiver Right, again WHAT
i think he'll get look kind over the next, month
so that you, KNOW i don't think that's a big, Deal.
HENDRICK i think he's out of there because, again he's
proven To. CINCINNATI i want to be. Here you guys
aren't telling ME i want to marry, you you. Know
SO i think he's going to go ahead and.

Speaker 4 (34:17):
Bounce.

Speaker 1 (34:18):
YEAH i think mclaurin's intriguing. Too he is looking to the.
Future he's also looking to the. Past he's, saying, listen,
Man i've been here six. Years i've seen. Things i've seen.
THINGS i can unsea six years and That i've lived
is like sixteen other. Years all this new stuff last
year that was all fun and. OPTIMISTIC i was here
for years that were the complete opposite of. That i've
been a statesman for this, team a leader for this,

(34:40):
team and not to mention An All pro last. YEAR
i need to be compensated for. That i'm basically the,
leader the mouthpiece of this. Team i've been through, Everything
i'm going to be through. Everything and he's twenty nine years.

Speaker 4 (34:51):
Old he's, like this is? It right now is the.

Speaker 1 (34:53):
WINDOW i can't imagine them not Having terry McLaurin on the,
field if only because you would never want to do
that To.

Speaker 4 (34:59):
Jayden to your, Point, hatch in his second, Year.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
Yeah you mentioned him playing the long, Game.

Speaker 3 (35:03):
Hatch it's not just a long game for the rest
of his career right looking ahead of, that but also
the long game in setting this. Market these guys know
every time another guy gets, paid the market resets and
patients is often rewarded when you've got numbers and you've got,
ability Like terry. McLaurin so smart, patience pack your, patience
and then pack your.
