I'm super excited to talk ball with you guys this
crazy offseason and free agency.

Speaker 5 (00:44):
Man, let's get it.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Can I run this by you? I don't think I'll
ever say your first name again. I am obsessed with
just saying Cabinda all the time.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Were good with that.

Speaker 6 (00:51):
That was literally all of my teammates.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Peter, give us the Cabinda experience. I was like clicking
on my Peter Pedia.

Speaker 7 (00:58):
Well, Dan Campbell was famous for just constantly saying the
name just like that, Capinda, Copindada, and it was the
cups of coffee and it was Cabinda. I know you
were a leader there for the Lions, had history with
the Raiders, but we're so happy to have you on
Good Morning Football this morning.

Speaker 8 (01:13):
Jason call appreciate you.

Speaker 9 (01:14):
Guys hap Penn State guy and I only hear Campbell,
want to hear combending like that's Jamie.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
You could say it, I could say it.

Speaker 9 (01:21):
I feel like Dan Campbell's our fifth host today and
his job is to say one word, and that word
is Cabinda.

Speaker 8 (01:27):
That's awesome to see you.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Dude, I know so good.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
He had takes already during the video that we just
watched with the free agent, So let's get into it.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Ian Rappaport, you are our.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
Un official fifth host this week because you've.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Been everywhere on the network. Well done, my friend.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Free agency is happening amongst us. The Bills are looking
to make themselves better by just a little bit because
they are ever so close every single year.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
How did they do that? The last couple of days?

Speaker 10 (01:49):
The Bills late last night added a big time edge.
Former pro bowler Joey Bosa, formerly of the Los Angeles Charges,
obviously was released a couple of days ago. Had several options,
several strong options. The Miami Dolphins were considered to be
one of those. I know a lot of people thought
the forty nine ers. Doesn't seem like they were in
the mix. Not nearly as much as many people thought. Instead,

(02:11):
in stealth fashion, it was the Buffalo Bills. They agreed
to terms with Joey Bosa on a one year, twelve
point six million dollar deal. Twelve point six million dollars
really nice money for Bosa. Twelve million dollars guaranteed that
deal can get up to fifteen point six million dollars
in upside to the Bills, say goodbye to Von Miller
and add a veteran pass rusher in Joey Bosa. We

(02:33):
are also still waiting on news on a couple of
key quarterbacks.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
Will start with Russell.

Speaker 10 (02:38):
Wilson, the former Steelers starter. He is still waiting to
hear from several teams.

Speaker 5 (02:43):
Including the Steelers.

Speaker 8 (02:44):
By the way, that is considered to be an option.

Speaker 10 (02:46):
I would expect the New York Giants to be an option,
Maud the Browns to be an option for Russell Wilson.
Some things got to get sorted out before we find
out where Russell Wilson lands. As still been some dialogue
with the Steelers, but nothing done yet. The reason why
is because Aaron Rodgers still has not made the decision
he's going to get officially released. They Jets today that
will split his cap hit up over the next two

(03:07):
years a post June one release, but he could have
signed anyway the Jets announced the deal.

Speaker 8 (03:12):
He could have agreed to terms with the team. It
is not happy yet.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
He is considering the New York.

Speaker 10 (03:16):
Giants, who have splashed a couple of different times, including yesterday.

Speaker 5 (03:19):
Right at this time in free.

Speaker 10 (03:21):
Agency, is also considering the Pittsburgh Steelers, two storied organizations,
both in it for Aaron Rodgers. Potentially today, by the
start of the leagu year, we will learn where Aaron
Rodgers lands for twenty twenty five.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Every day we've said that Ian Rappaport, maybe today and
we will have the answer to the Aaron Rodgers question.
And I truly do hope it's kind of within the
next two hours because it gives us something to talk
about on GMFP rap sheet.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Another day, another dollar for a lot of these guys
in free agency, but not Rogers yet. Peter, what do
you make of the fact that we do not have
a jersey to photoshop on Aaron Rodgers just yet.

Speaker 7 (03:55):
It's kind of fitting and I feel like it's his
turn to have a week, right Miles Garrett had super
Bowl week, he did radio row demanding a trade.

Speaker 8 (04:02):
I want to get out of here.

Speaker 7 (04:03):
Matthew Stafford had Combine week where it was Matthew Stafford's
going to be on the Both those guys state Rogers.
We know is going somewhere, and it might not just
be a week, it might be two weeks, three weeks,
four weeks. If you think you know the answer to
what Aaron Rodgers's timetable is, you know more than the
Steelers and the Giants do, because I've spoken with teeth
and sources on both sides, and everyone's kind of got

(04:23):
that shrug emoji.

Speaker 8 (04:25):
We're waiting, we're seeing, give it in with space, let
him decide.

Speaker 5 (04:28):
Now, we don't know the.

Speaker 7 (04:28):
Numbers, we don't know what's been offered exactly, but we
do know there's been contact Towe, these representatives and both
of those teams.

Speaker 8 (04:35):
Rogers. Meanwhile, I'm told his quote out west right now,
that's where he is.

Speaker 7 (04:40):
So he's not he's not in Chile, he's not in Peru,
he's not in wherever he goes for what do they
even call it?

Speaker 8 (04:48):
An enigma?

Speaker 9 (04:49):
His medicine, Yes, medicine in the generals, medicine that for
him though West Light mean like West Asia.

Speaker 7 (04:56):
What's fascinating to me is that he's got these two
franchises that are just woven in the cloth of NFL history.
You're talking about two blue chip franchises with two blue
chip families, and they're waiting on Rogers, and this is
just kind of what the deal's going to be. It
is going to be on Aaron's terms where he decides
to go, and we're not one hundred percent sure he's

(05:18):
going to either yet. So Rogers, for all the hoopla
about how terrible he was with the Jets and how
awful teammate he is to Haven't, you've got two really strong,
really historical franchises waiting on a forty one year old
quarterback coming off two years from an Achilles injury. And
I do think he's their number one option in both
of those places.

Speaker 9 (05:37):
We have to remember this period for just that period.
Like I feel like this feels like history. This is
a guy who's all anyone talks about, how old he is,
how washed he is, how high he is, whatever you want,
and it's not due respect. It's not the Jaguars and
the Browns being like please, it's the gold standard and
they're basically begging or praying Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 5 (05:58):
To come to them. That's the state of the nation
right here.

Speaker 9 (06:01):
And if I'm him, I'm like, I think the reason
he wants to play again is a healthy I got
things to prove.

Speaker 5 (06:05):
But I want to go out on my shield. I
want to do this right.

Speaker 9 (06:07):
I do not want to go out as part of
a five and twelve Jets team, and I want to
I want to finish the story. I look at them
from my perspective and I'm like, if I'm Rogers and
I have both these guys buying for me, I'm going
to Pittsburgh.

Speaker 5 (06:19):
I'm going to Pittsburgh. Why because the Giants.

Speaker 9 (06:21):
To me, just even aside from the same stadium and geography,
Giants feel like the Jets. We have a hungry coach
who's likable and hasn't really gotten it done yet like
we did last year.

Speaker 8 (06:30):
We got a very young, talented wide receiver like.

Speaker 9 (06:32):
We did last year that everybody's talking about. I don't
think there's much else there though they haven't had their
act together. I also don't think there's a genuine embrace
from the New York Giants fan base, who spent the
last two years making fun of the Jets and Rogers
at every single turn. I'm going to Pittsburgh because obviously
the weapons are impressive.

Speaker 5 (06:50):
Also, it's like, immediately, is TJ.

Speaker 9 (06:51):
Watt the best defensive player he's played with since Charles Woodson?

Speaker 5 (06:54):
Probably.

Speaker 9 (06:55):
I think Mike tiff Tomlin is so different than Robert
Salah or than Brian Dable and a guy who's so established,
so ben there he has a super Bowl, he would
have another one if it were not for Rogers. And
I think the Steelers fans more than anything, crave different.
Please break the mold. Please not in the same season.
If Russell Wilson want to come back, it might be fine. Maybe,

(07:16):
but that still screams to me. Nine and eight, ten
and seven, first round loss. This thing, this Rogers thing.
Maybe it is Vikings era farv maybe it is Broncos
era of Peyton and maybe they do catch fire and
change this, or maybe they go five and twelve again,
and that might not be the worst thing going into
next year. For once, you can actually have a decent

(07:37):
draft pick. If I'm Rogers sitting wherever the hell he
is smoking, whatever the hell he is drinking, whatever the
hell is studying wherever the hell he is. I look
at Pittsburgh and look at the Giants, and to me,
it's Pittsburgh ten out of ten times.

Speaker 6 (07:48):
Hey, you know, I had the chance to play against
Aaron plenty times in my time during Detroit, and Aaron
is just a special guy. He's obviously guy's going to
be a future Hall of Fame player. I think one
of his elite traits is his ball placement and his
ability to be able to place a ball in a
place where wide receivers can catch it in stride and
get tons of yak yards. He makes the offense and
receivers a lot better. I don't know if it's going

(08:09):
to take an Aya experience for him to make this decision,
but I very much so see him going to Pittsburgh.
You got George Pickins, he got DK metcalf, you got
my fellow penn State alump and Pat Fryer moves at
tight end, working the middle of the field. I mean, obviously,
with the Achilles injury, we saw the kind of the
storyline with Kirk Cousins. He got bent from Michael Pennix,
that rookie. So I think he has the ability to

(08:30):
sign a team friendly deal that's not going to hurt
the cap a ton. Maybe a provid deal one year
and go over there, ball out. I just think he
has a chance to have a couple of good years
left in him where he can make a big impact
in Pittsburgh and get Mike Tomlin over that hump of
the mediocrity and the average and the nine and eight
and no playoff wins.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Okay, let's play this out then, Jason, if you've played
against Rogers and you know the guys that we were
talking about that are in that wide receiver room, now, Kyle,
I know you have takes on this too. We've talked
a lot about the Steelers and wide receivers. You think
Rogers is the perfect guy to stare down DK Metcalf
and George Pick and be like, guys enough and just
like run this offense the way that honestly, those two
are electric in and of itself.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
So is Rogers the perfect fit for that?

Speaker 5 (09:12):
Absolutely? I think to me, like, that's a Hall of
Fame player.

Speaker 6 (09:15):
That's the time of dude that walks into the building
and every single player is going to have a certain
level of respect towards him, especially guys like George Pickens,
especially guys like DK metca.

Speaker 5 (09:24):
We've all seen the Aaron highlights.

Speaker 6 (09:26):
We've all seen about his time in Green Bay, all
of the great things that he did. So I don't
think there is a better player that can walk in
demand respect on day one than Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 7 (09:35):
It's funny because the Steelers it's like, all right, if
we don't get Aaron Rodgers, we could go back to
Russell Wilson, which we didn't court him, really he was
our quarterback and we're kind of going after someone else.
But hopefully Dk Metcalf's an old teammate, they get along
and we can make this right. We can put the
toothpaste back in the tube. Or maybe we draft someone
in the twentieth or we get someone in the second round.
The Giants don't get Aaron rodgints get the third overall pick,

(09:56):
and it's like, are we drafting Shador? Are we drafting
Shador and and then it gets a totally different road,
or are we drafting Jackson Dart overall, which wouldn't be
the craziest thing if you really have no quarterback and
you like Dart more than Shador Sanders. I just think
for the Giants, you know, we've made fun of the
Jets for sending Robert Salah and Joe Douglas and Woody

(10:17):
Johnson and Christopher Johnson to Malibu to go meet with Rogers,
and there's TMZ cameras who are outside the house, which was.

Speaker 8 (10:24):
Like, what are we doing?

Speaker 7 (10:25):
Is it so crazy to find out where he is
and go to him if you really want him to
be the quarterback and maybe try to court him and
say here's what we can offer and let's talk in person. Hey, look,
the league year starts this year. Anything is on the table.
If he's a free agent. I just don't know if
it's a sweepstakes for Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 8 (10:40):
Who's the better recruiter right now? Is it Brian Dable,
is it Mike Tomlin.

Speaker 7 (10:43):
I'd love to see this thing play out, and maybe
Rogers can control those terms.

Speaker 9 (10:47):
What if the Giants get Rogers and still draft Shador
they could.

Speaker 5 (10:50):
Rhyme saying I mean they could. It's all on the table.

Speaker 9 (10:52):
I just if Rodgers announce us today that he's joining
the Pittsburgh Steelers week one from the New York Giants,
not just in any other year, but like.

Speaker 5 (10:59):
Brian David, let's go here we need to win now.
They don't have a few years to build up a
rookie quarterback.

Speaker 9 (11:05):
It's I just came back to the point that I
can't believe it's these two teams we're talking about the Giants,
for all their faults over the last decade, they usually
have some normalcy a quarterback. You may not love the
quarter up. They have a plan, they have a vision
and right now, you know, a few miles from where
Peter and I are sitting, they just keep texting Rogers
and saying please because otherwise, yeah.

Speaker 5 (11:24):
Are you up?

Speaker 9 (11:25):
Seriously, and honestly, it's like five twelve in the morning
in California, it may be two twelve in Asia.

Speaker 5 (11:30):
He probably is up. You up? What's up?

Speaker 8 (11:33):
That's exactly right, Peter, we talk yeah.

Speaker 6 (11:35):
And I think Aaron's a type of guy that has
a certain level of confidence, almost air against to him,
where I highly doubt he's going to want to end
his career on the note that he's ended on, and
all of us as players have this level of confidence
in us where if things don't go right at the end,
we want that redemption.

Speaker 5 (11:53):
We want to end on a high note. We want
to end.

Speaker 6 (11:55):
Up on top and I think with all of the
discourse about him being on the pat mccafee, show him
not being fully focused on the game, not wanting to
be a camp taking the day off, things of that nature,
I think he's gonna want to write this ship, write
the storyline, write all of the narratives on him, who
he is as a player and who he is as
a teammate more importantly. And that's why I see him

(12:16):
going to Pittsburgh and really maybe having not his best
year obviously, but a year in which Pittsburgh can we
can be optimistic about this team moving forward.

Speaker 8 (12:26):
That's the type you've been listening to.

Speaker 11 (12:28):
You.

Speaker 9 (12:29):
What if the Giants just said, you know, never mind this,
never mind shoulder never mamder Rogers, We're going to set
up a whole brand new offense space purely on the
full back and feeding the fullback.

Speaker 5 (12:36):
And blocking with the fullback. Would you be down for that,
because I know I would.

Speaker 6 (12:39):
Hey, all I know is Juice is a free agent
right now.

Speaker 5 (12:42):
Je a free agent right now, and not.

Speaker 8 (12:43):
The dude that can be a chess piece.

Speaker 6 (12:45):
You can put him in at tight end, you can
put him in at full back, you can run the
third down pass protection and checkdowns like this.

Speaker 5 (12:51):
This dude can do it all.

Speaker 6 (12:52):
So I know there's a lot of teams that are
eyeing Kyle Yuschik's right now and trying to put him
in their offense because he's a chess piece.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
That's the nature of the Frenzy.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
It's knowing that Kyle Yuschuk is available at fullback. It's
free and see Frenzy, it's happening. It's just started. We're
gonna be all over this with the Frenzy.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
Eight hours of.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
Live coverage starting today of course ten am Eastern NFL
Network and you can stream it on NFL Plus. All right,
what that the gallery more and the Vikings.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
They've been very busy this offseason.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
They've been spending their money, Cabinda, We're gonna look at
some of their big moves. Sorry, we got to talk
NFC North and it's not the team in MotorCity.

Speaker 5 (13:29):
Coll I like that smirk on koc face. It's happy, right,
Well you know that we don't. Yeah, I guess maybe
he knows JJ is really good. Yeah, you'd better be.

Speaker 9 (13:38):
Plus, we'll look at some of the other free agents
signings all around the league.

Speaker 5 (13:41):
This is not a Vikings dot Com show. I promise you.
Look there's the Steelers. You should see what the New
York media is saying about Justin Fields. They're throwing a
party for him.

Speaker 9 (13:49):
It's very positive right here in New York.

Speaker 5 (13:50):
And that's cool, right, Peter.

Speaker 8 (13:51):
It's rare the Jets media, it's all about it.

Speaker 5 (13:55):
Let's definitely say that. Let's get off that way forever.

Speaker 9 (13:58):
Every team, every player, teams that broke our hearts. And
it's Whiteboard Wednesday next. What is the one break.

Speaker 8 (14:02):
Up in sports or in life that just crushed you?

Speaker 2 (14:14):
Good morning football, time for Whiteboard Wednesday, presented by Harbor Freight.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
That video was made up of last year's free.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
Agents who found themselves on a new team and playing
in the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
So until we.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
Find out if Aaron Rodgers has answered this text message
from any of the teams that are interested in him,
let's play Whiteboard Wednesday. The free agent addition that we
definitely know has happened that we think we could be
talking about next January, Peter, all last Saquon Barkley and
the Eagles.

Speaker 8 (14:42):
Is Kyle's already hit this this week.

Speaker 7 (14:44):
There is a team that I think we're all going
to be excited about in the AFC and the team
that got.

Speaker 8 (14:48):
Eliminated in the wildcard round.

Speaker 7 (14:50):
They're up there in Denver in the Mile High and
they very quietly added one of our favorite players from
several seasons ago.

Speaker 8 (14:56):
Let's sella Noah who fuckeda.

Speaker 7 (15:00):
Forty nine Ers safety who was a first team All Pro.
Two crazy injuries completely sidelined him from twenty twenty three
and we barely saw him in twenty twenty four injuries.
He's still just twenty five years old. Goes to the
Denver Broncos. Vance Joseph, a defensive backs coach by trade,

(15:23):
is their defensive coordinator. Jim Leonard, the old safety for
the Jets in Wisconsin Badgers coach, is in the defensive
backfield coaching room, and Whufanga joins Drake Greenlaw, two forty
nine ers who were part of this forty nine ers
blood letting where the forty nine ers just have to
get rid of everybody. This week, Whofanga ends up in Denver.
I think they're a playoff team. I think they're better

(15:44):
than they were last year, and I think their defense
got a lot better this week.

Speaker 8 (15:47):
Tellanoah who fogam for.

Speaker 6 (15:50):
Me guys, it has got to be this dude right
here justin fields, Like, guys, can we talk about this?
I played in Detroit. I played against this guy while
he was in Chicago. His legs are an hour, absolute problem.
Like the monstrous rushing attack they're going to have between
Braylan Allen and Breisee Hall, that one to two combo.

Speaker 5 (16:12):
If they can get this O line.

Speaker 6 (16:14):
Right, can you imagine him in a Reid option with
those two guys in the backfield? What are you supposed
to do? I mean, honestly, you can throw the ball.
We saw mismanage in Chicago a ton. We saw a
lot of flashes of in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 5 (16:25):
Of what could be if they can get this thing right.
If he can get on the same.

Speaker 6 (16:29):
Page with an offensive coordinator and get coached up right,
I think he.

Speaker 5 (16:33):
Has a chance to be that dude in New York
and in January we.

Speaker 6 (16:37):
Can be talking about the New York Jets in a
very optimistic, positive way moving forward.

Speaker 9 (16:41):
Okay, look optimistic and positive community. You got to see
the New York post their headline this morning, Track and fields.
It's just what you're talking about. This ability to run.
Gang Green have never had a quarterback. They're all in
on him right now. You gotta be careful when you
hold up the post because you may make sure you
hold up You don't want.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
To do that.

Speaker 5 (16:59):
I don't want to do that.

Speaker 9 (17:00):
Stop stop, stop, justin fields, track and fields. Also, Peter,
I have to take this point. We've done about two
thousand shows together. I've never heard you use the term
blood letting ever. Was that a new one for you?
That is what the forty nine ers roster has suffered.

Speaker 5 (17:14):
This it's a very dramatic word.

Speaker 9 (17:16):
All right, here's some dramatic words, Peter, jealousy, turning saints
into the sea, swimming through sick Lolo buys. This guy's
going to be singing that at some point the winter.
Bosa Brosa Joey Bosa is headed to Western New York,
and I just had this vision of him standing in
the snow in January singing mister Brightside is the part

(17:38):
He's going to fit in there with all that whole
Dawson Knox type locker room and Josh Allen and wings
and growing out and everything. Now, when he's standing there
singing those lyrics, is he in street clothes?

Speaker 5 (17:48):
I hope not. People like to point out that.

Speaker 9 (17:50):
Joey has had some issues with injuries. Well, the Bills
have had some issues with beating the Chiefs, and now
we take a guy from the AFC West whose job
for years was to chase Patrick Mahomes around. I love
this signing. It's one year thing. Maybe it works, Maybe
maybe is healthy, maybe is not. I got fired up
when I saw this though. It's a big name and
a very important position. Bill's past rusher slash difference maker.

(18:12):
Is he mister brightside? I tend to look on the
bright side of this, Bosa.

Speaker 5 (18:15):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
Excellent, Well done, Brossa. I haven't heard that one in
a while.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
All Right, we're inching closer to bracketology. Selection Sunday is
coming up. The Big East Tournament. It starts tonight in
New York City and Saint John's, which is like so
perfect if you are a college basketball purist, is the
number one seed in a Big East tournament for the
first time since nineteen eighty six. Thank you, Rick Patino.
The number one seed. If we were ranking the biggest

(18:40):
surprise of this off season thus far, Peter would be.

Speaker 7 (18:45):
I'm going with the baby Jags, who are the baby Jagson.

Speaker 8 (18:48):
Why am I talking about Jacksonville.

Speaker 7 (18:50):
I'm talking about these three names. That's Liam Cohen, their
head coach, who's thirty nine. That's Grant Newdinsky, their offensive
coordinator who's twenty eight. And that's the new Jimmy g
James Gladstone, the GM who is thirty four years old.

Speaker 8 (19:05):
The Jaguars said, no more retreads, no.

Speaker 7 (19:07):
More old men, no more the old way we've always
done this. We're going young, young, young, and they did
so with their coaches and with their front office.

Speaker 8 (19:16):
I would also add in the first wave.

Speaker 7 (19:18):
Of free agency, they signed Jordan Lewis, a thirty year
old nickel corner, to the to the biggest deal ever for.

Speaker 8 (19:25):
A nickel corner, and it's like, we're gonna do it
our way.

Speaker 7 (19:28):
We're gonna take Christian Kirk, We're gonna trade him for
a seventh round pick, where right now we don't have
a second wide receiver, probably don't have.

Speaker 5 (19:35):
A true one.

Speaker 8 (19:36):
The baby Jaguars, Trevor.

Speaker 7 (19:39):
Lawrence got his money and now he's got this baby
staff with him.

Speaker 8 (19:43):
I'm excited to see it.

Speaker 7 (19:45):
Tony Kahn showed up to the draft last year two
years ago with the neck brace because it was part
of an ae W like storyline.

Speaker 8 (19:53):
What do you got next for us? I know we
do WWE on this show.

Speaker 7 (19:57):
I might be an ae W guy really of MJF.

Speaker 8 (20:00):
And the Berber scarf. I'm here for the Baby Daguars.
I'm very all.

Speaker 5 (20:05):
It's so Brooklyn of you.

Speaker 8 (20:06):
No like Away says I like blur.

Speaker 4 (20:09):
That's night.

Speaker 8 (20:11):
Let's go the Baby Jaguars. I'm here for it.

Speaker 7 (20:14):
And Tony Kahan do all the stuff you're doing, have
fun with it, and I'll go to the other wrestling
group if they want to take care of the right number.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
One, number one overall see Baby Jaggs.

Speaker 6 (20:25):
Guys, this isn't an easy one for me, and I'm
just not done trolling the Giants yet nobody's talking about it.
The Giants gave Darius Slayton a three year, thirty six
million dollar deal twelve mil average? Is that not the
same thing Saquon Barkley was asking for just.

Speaker 5 (20:41):
Some more guaranteed money. This guy just went for two
thousand yards.

Speaker 6 (20:44):
Look Sakuon Barkley was my roommate in college, and I
don't know if I've ever played with another football player
with a greater work ethic than this guy. This guy
goes about his business the right way, does the right thing.

Speaker 5 (20:55):
He's a great human being.

Speaker 6 (20:56):
He's great on the field, and he's the type of
player that takes everybody with him, the type of dude
who should want to build your franchise round and the
kind of guy you want in your locker room. You
say bye bye to him because you don't want to
give him some guaranteed money. He goes to Philly, goes
and wins a Super Bowl and gets two k yards
at the same time. Giants, I'm just not don trolling.
You got Joe showing. We all heard the phone call

(21:18):
on Hard Knocks. Buddy, you made a mistake.

Speaker 9 (21:20):
Hold up, hold off, all right, con com We all
remember our college roommates. My college roomate, says Matt, he's
an attorney.

Speaker 5 (21:27):
Good for him. Yours is Saquon Bershley. What kind of
roommate was he?

Speaker 8 (21:31):
Give us a story, give us something, what's going on?

Speaker 6 (21:34):
Not look not the cleanest dude, but man, I mean
he's absolutely so fun to be around, you know, the
kind of guy is always doing extra work, going to
bring everybody along with him. Saquon, Man, he's he's just
He is just a special, special dude.

Speaker 5 (21:47):
Probably the most.

Speaker 6 (21:48):
Competitive guy I have ever been around. I don't care
what it is. We played video games, Anti doublea call
of duty, whatever it is, this dude wants to win.
His personality, his attitude is absolutely infectious and like I said,
he is the type of dude that apsolute. Any franchise
would be blessed to have. I mean, if he started
his career in Philadelphia, we might be talking about this

(22:11):
guy as the greatest running back of all time right now,
and literally just because of the New York Giants. His
career arc had to be screwed up from the beginning,
and we saw the rookie year, the flashes and the
injuries and the comeback story.

Speaker 5 (22:22):
I mean, could it be any sweeter?

Speaker 9 (22:23):
I mean that good kind of roommate, Like he comes
back and Benda's got to stock on the door knob,
and he plays.

Speaker 6 (22:31):
No pranks at least he's not. He's not a prank guy.
He didn't mess with anyone.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
So when you say messy, is he like laundering the
floor or sleep on a pizza back messy?

Speaker 3 (22:39):
Those are two different veris Yeah, Well.

Speaker 6 (22:41):
To me, there's a difference between messy and dirty. Messy
is like you might have a few clothes on the ground.

Speaker 8 (22:45):
Things here and there.

Speaker 6 (22:46):
Dirty is like you don't ever clean your dishes, you know,
like dirty?

Speaker 9 (22:50):
Yeah, just mess Okay, yeah, do you ever have to
hold his hair back or his earring back or whatever?

Speaker 11 (22:56):
You know what?

Speaker 5 (22:57):
Man never had, never had that guy. That guy's different
when it comes to that.

Speaker 9 (23:03):
That's cool, Okay, good, I'm glad to hear that, and
but not surprised to hear that at all. Right, we
got to keep the segment going, but we'll double back
on combind to be in college roommates with Say Kum.
The biggest story of the off season, the one seed,
biggest surprise you can Miles Garrett, justin Fields whatever it is,
still by far Indianapolis coffee Shop, not even close.

Speaker 5 (23:20):
This is the biggest story.

Speaker 9 (23:21):
Patrick Mahomes could announce he's retiring today and this would
still be the bigger story. I still am waiting for
the documentary, the behind the scenes, Peter, you want pro wrestling,
this is everything. I'm still not convinced this wasn't a
work of some kind, or at least on one part
of it was a work and not the other part
of it. Rap She's probably really sick of me bringing
this up. But Raps, she came off like a night
and shining armor in this thing.

Speaker 5 (23:41):
So maybe not. Peter, I've never got to talk to
you about it.

Speaker 9 (23:44):
We're just having on the air. Your thoughts on the
Indianapolis coffee shop go.

Speaker 7 (23:46):
Well, it's literally like going to someone who is on
court side at court and with everyone watching a nick
Lakers game and confronting him that way. That's how busy
the Starbucks is. It's Times Square in Indianapolis, and for
two NFL reporters to have a verbal what was it
verbal altercation?

Speaker 8 (24:06):
Oh yeah, everyone saw.

Speaker 7 (24:07):
It and it was it was the buzz and what was,
to be honest, kind of a quiet week in indeed
not really a lot of rumors.

Speaker 8 (24:14):
That was the buzz of the week. And I know
Ian is happier still talking.

Speaker 9 (24:18):
What it pisses me off was the real sixteen seed
of this is that all the people.

Speaker 8 (24:22):
In that coffee shop, all of them with phones.

Speaker 9 (24:23):
There's no video somehow, and it's because all of you
guys are just looking at social media or looking to
see who they can talk to. The show was right there.
Never mind, who runs a forty that was the show.
And I can't believe there's video. If you have it,
where is it?

Speaker 2 (24:35):
Let's go say everything, Harvey that we at least now
we know from all of this that repsheet runs on Duncan.
All right, last one, yesterday we talked about Kyle us
Check's release from the forty nine Ers, and Covenda's already
hit on this as well, and Kyle had this to say,
let's review.

Speaker 9 (24:53):
I'm reroclemped about the Niners right now because I'm feeling
like this is the Sarah McLoughlin I will remer.

Speaker 5 (24:59):
The big one for me is this juice.

Speaker 9 (25:01):
Kyle us Check is no longer a forty nine er,
nine years served. It is kind of like going up
into ashes like you know, the Avengers, but in the
meantime you check for clemp for you, buddy.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
We're clemped. Spell it right.

Speaker 2 (25:15):
The breakup that saddened us the most. Let's expand this
beyond just forty nine ers universe. It's sports, it's pop culture,
or maybe if you want to just hit home, Peter,
your own life.

Speaker 3 (25:25):
Do you have a breakup that saddened you the most?

Speaker 7 (25:30):
Peter, good personal Cue the music from the OC no,
I'm worried to PENGA.

Speaker 8 (25:35):
Yeah, I love that one.

Speaker 7 (25:38):
Shack and Penny. I'm going Shack and Penny. I know
everyone talks about Shaq and Kobe as this duo. What
could have been had Shack and Penny stayed together? You
I have to put you back into nineteen ninety four
me when Blue Chips comes out and you've got these
two people together and it's on a movie and then
actually in reality the next year, these guys are playing

(25:59):
together and they're knocking off Michael Jordan.

Speaker 8 (26:02):
I know it with Jordan of the forty five from.

Speaker 5 (26:03):
Out of It.

Speaker 8 (26:04):
They did it with LaRence Grant and the sky was
the limit.

Speaker 7 (26:07):
They got swept by a LaJuan and that's okay, and
then it all just came tumbling down.

Speaker 8 (26:12):
And it was so short lived. Shack and Penny what
could have been?

Speaker 7 (26:15):
Penny Hardaway was my favorite player as a kid, a
six foot eight point guard who was as cool as
it gets out of the University of Memphis or Memphis
State when we were down there watching and of course
the Blue Chips fame for the two of them, and
then Shaq was shacking just kind of eh, It's like
a blip on the radar, and it's like, what could
have been Shack and Penny had devastated me back in
the day, Penny Hardaway.

Speaker 6 (26:35):
Yeah for me, guys, this one, this one really hits.
The Migos breakup, Okay, we saw the signs. Quavo started
getting on every feature on other artists stuff. Then all
set followed suit. I mean, guys, we were talking about
this group like they were about to be the Beatles.
I mean they were touring all over the world, they
were shattering records, the albums, the songs. I mean us

(26:57):
in college when we were going out, all you.

Speaker 5 (27:00):
Were hearing was Amigos.

Speaker 6 (27:01):
That's what God has pumped up in the locker room
at the parties. And then Kuevo started going solo, started
doing his own.

Speaker 5 (27:08):
Thing, dropped a solo album. We know how this story goes.

Speaker 6 (27:11):
Then all sets follow suits. You know I could do
it by myself too. We know how this goes, guys.
Then it was takeoff, rest in peace, takeoff, man. But
the Migos, that breakup is one that still hits close
to home.

Speaker 9 (27:23):
Man.

Speaker 5 (27:23):
These guys, these guys had it. They had it.

Speaker 2 (27:25):
You see, the Beatles and Migos just coming out of
the dorm room.

Speaker 5 (27:29):
I'm telling you, that's what it was pumping.

Speaker 9 (27:31):
That's sart of the fun of the segment is that
I had the Migos breakup right down you and I
had to erase and I had to improvise. But that's
you can take it. That's fine. I totally get it,
and I'm glad you did because everything you just said,
Cabinda could say the same thing about this.

Speaker 5 (27:45):
You got, you got Migos.

Speaker 9 (27:46):
I got the Rockers nineteen ninety two, my friends, Sean Michaels,
Marty Jannetti. I don't even think we have any pictures
or anything, so I'm gonna paint you a picture picture
me at twelve years old and so many other kids
at that age. Sure there was the Heart Foundation and demolition,
but the Rockers were high flying. They had the cool style,
the cool moves off the turnbar. And then we go
to the barber shop Brutus and Barbara Beefcake and it

(28:08):
appears they shake hands as Shawn Michaels is wearing a
leather jacket with no shirt underneath it. And just as
you think they're gonna do it, the Rocks and take
off of the world. The sweet chin music and the
super kick right to the jaw, only to have Bobby
Heenan make the iconic line of Janetti tried to dive
through the window to escape. It was a heartbreaking, shocking moment.
This was Will Smith's slapping Chris rock in the world

(28:30):
of early nineties professional wrestling. You could not believe what
you were watching. Still the most shocking thing I've ever
seen in pro wrestling and still reverberates to this day.
Michaels went on to be Michael Janette went out to
givem jeannetty. It was kind of like a Seacrest Dunkleman situation,
like there's historical stuff about it, and I will.

Speaker 5 (28:46):
Never ever forget it. The Rockers, I love those guys.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
But I've never heard I don't even know who those
people were. Kyle until that was an education in itself.
Are you with the Rockers person?

Speaker 6 (28:56):
Yeah, I feel like Kyle just showed his age a
little bit.

Speaker 2 (28:57):
I no, no, I have no idea know who.

Speaker 5 (29:01):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (29:01):
Sean Michaels, but the Rockers, I'm not familiar with their.

Speaker 7 (29:04):
Right of course, that's the shame of it. You would
have known Janetti as well, it's like saying, you know
justin Tterbulake, you don't know in sync.

Speaker 8 (29:12):
That's where he came from.

Speaker 5 (29:13):
That's the origin store Bab. I'll tell you.

Speaker 9 (29:15):
George Michael, but you don't know where about.

Speaker 8 (29:18):
Hrselfs Andrew Ridgeley me a Jos, I don't care.

Speaker 12 (29:21):
Welcome back to Good Morning Football. I'm jay A Costa Ruiz.
While we await the fate of a couple of quarterbacks,
specifically Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson, the Cults are adding
a quarterback and potentially a QB battle in the preseason.
NFL Network insiders thee and Rap Record and Tom Pelotero
are both reporting Daniel Jones is expected to sign a
one year deal with Indy for fourteen million dollars that

(29:43):
could be worth up to seventeen point seven. Jones will
likely compete with Anthony Richardson for that starting job. The
Eagles making yet another move on defense. As Ian and
Mike Garafollo are reporting Philly is sending safety CJ. Gardner
Johnson to the Texans for guard Kenyon Green. The teams
also exchanging late round picks in the twenty twenty six RAS.

(30:04):
This will be Gardner Johnson's third team in three seasons,
and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is headed to Baltimore as
he's signing a one year deal with the Ravens for
six million dollars. D hop had just six hundred and
ten receiving yards last season for the Titans and Chiefs combined,
but did put up over one thousand yards for Tennessee
in twenty twenty three. Throughout March, in celebration of Women's

(30:30):
History Month, here on Good Morning Football, the NFL has
partnered with NBC Sports and on her turf highlighting stories
of amazing women who are shaping the sport of football
and flag overall and football overall for the next generation.
Today we hear from Stephanie Quak, the NFL's VP and
head of Flag Football.

Speaker 11 (30:49):
I'm Stephanie Quak, and flag football is for all. Flag
football just opens up the game to so many more people.

Speaker 3 (31:02):
You only need.

Speaker 11 (31:02):
Five players to play NFL Flag You only need a football,
few belts and cones, and so it's an easy way
to touch the game and it's a way to increase
pathways for folks that haven't necessarily had those opportunities to
play football before. That's an opportunity for girls to play

(31:23):
at the youth level, to compete with their cousins, their brothers,
their siblings, and then also increasingly there are opportunities to
play in high school, their opportunities to play in college,
and now with Flags football in the twenty twenty eight
Olympics in LA you can also represent your country whether
you're a girl or a boy.

Speaker 12 (31:46):
For the full episode and more women's sports stories, head
to nbcsports dot com Slash on her turf, and for
more information how you can find a Flag league near you,
visit nflflag dot com. All Right, when we go back
to Vikings have been very active in free agency, we'll
get into what their moves mean for their chances in
the On the other side.

Speaker 4 (32:06):
Of it, good morn football.

Speaker 8 (32:20):
All right.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
So, despite a fourteen win team berth into the playoffs,
but a brutal loss in Week eighteen and in the
wildcard round, the Minnesota Vikings are not sitting still in
free agency. They have the potential to start a second
year quarterback next season. They made a couple of decisions
Ian Rappaport and free agency that has us all intrigued.
A lot of it is based on opening up their
check book. What are we paying attention to?

Speaker 10 (32:41):
What the Minnesota Vikings did was focused not at quarterback.

Speaker 8 (32:45):
They do seem right now to have their quarterback.

Speaker 10 (32:47):
And JJ McCarthy obviously let Daniel Jones walk yesterday.

Speaker 5 (32:51):
I don't know was that yesterdayor.

Speaker 4 (32:52):
Two days ago?

Speaker 5 (32:52):
It seems like so long ago.

Speaker 10 (32:54):
But Daniel Jones goes to the Annapolis Goots. They were
in there, they made it off, but it became clear
he was moving on from them. They turned their attention
to the big guys, to the offensive line, to the
defensive line. Also, by the way, locked up Aaron Jones.
They're starting running back. Start running back after the best
year of his career. He signed before free agency, but yes,
he is going to have some big dudes to run behind.

(33:15):
Ryan Kelly, the former Pro bowler for the Indianapolis Colts,
he signs with the Minnesota Vikings. Will Fries gets a
huge deal to play guard. The former Colts guard standout.
Not a household name except his name is Fries, but
certainly someone who's going to help the Minnesota Vikings upfront.
He showed up the defensive line as well. Jonathan Allen
gets a three year, sixty million dollar deal.

Speaker 8 (33:37):
And then Javon Hargrave, who has.

Speaker 10 (33:39):
Not yet officially been released by the.

Speaker 3 (33:40):
Forty nine ers.

Speaker 8 (33:41):
He is a post June one cut.

Speaker 10 (33:43):
He is expected to sign with the Minnesota Vikings as
well when it is allowed.

Speaker 8 (33:48):
So Daniel Jones moves on, goes to the Colts.

Speaker 10 (33:50):
Goes to compete with Anthony Richardson, and the Vikings spend
all of their money on the offensive line and defensive line,
with a little more for Aaron Jones.

Speaker 2 (33:57):
All right, Rapchie, appreciate it so much. Thank you, Quasido famensa.
The GM in Minnesota has been there for a couple
of years now. Kevin O'Connell their head coach. He gets
an extension in January. The Vikings have made serious free
agent moves in planning for twenty twenty five. Peter, So
what do you make of this when you look at
the decisions Minnesota has made and what they think their
team could be in the coming seasons.

Speaker 5 (34:19):
JJ McCarthy better be good.

Speaker 7 (34:21):
JJ McCarthy better be ready, and JJ McCarthy better be
something that they can say. That's why we moved on
from Sam Donald. For look, I understand it. It's his time.
He was a top ten draft pick, and it was
in the plans that year, probably late year one, year two,
he'd get his opportunity.

Speaker 8 (34:40):
But then things happen. He gets injured in preseason and.

Speaker 7 (34:43):
Sam Donald has this incredible year where for the first
seventeen weeks of the season there may have been no
more impressive quarterback considering what we expected him to be.
Donald three years, one hundred million. Seattle, like Minnesota, could
have afforded that they had that in their budget, they
opted not to spend it on that, and they opted
to instead bring in guys like Jonathan Allen and Will

(35:06):
Fries and just roll with the plan what it was
all along. Now, remember when Cracy drafted JJ McCarthy and
they brought in Sam Donald for one year, ten million,
It was because we have to pay everyone else, and
we're gonna be able to do this with a quarterback
on a rookie contract and we'll.

Speaker 8 (35:22):
Get a good bridge veteran at quarterback.

Speaker 7 (35:24):
Well, what happened was Donald had this meteoric rise and
was showed that he could be that guy indoors.

Speaker 8 (35:29):
Doing it all, and then when he went outdoors, had.

Speaker 7 (35:32):
Great games in Chicago, great games in Seattle when it
mattered I'm not sold on JJ McCarthy because I haven't
seen him. We sold in one preseason game. Then we
get that unfortunate news that he got injured. So they're
banking on this guy being fully recovered and being able
to compete, and I don't know incomplete for me, we'll
see TBA.

Speaker 5 (35:48):
I agree with what you're saying.

Speaker 9 (35:50):
I don't know or have heard from a single Vikings
fan who said, no, huge money for Donald, keep him.
The ones that I talked to and the ones that
I read online, let's do this thing. There's nothing more
sexy than having that rookie quarterback thing in your pocket
that you draft in the first round.

Speaker 5 (36:04):
Of course, none of us are sold on because we
haven't seen him.

Speaker 9 (36:06):
O'Connell and everyone said, let Sam go, let Daniel go.
We're good like they whatever they have seen or whatever
they've spoken about, gave them the confidence to do this.
And I don't think it's a coincidence that rap sheet
is on here saying, well, they paid the veteran running
back who everybody loves, they paid the offensive line. I
think it's time, I really do. I have to say
the one thing this is perfect. Just draw from the

(36:27):
segment The one thing if I'm the Vikings and if
I'm McCarthy for sure, that I'd like to get rid
of is that video of him on the sideline that
everybody made so much fun of. It's late in the season.
We rolled it in that package. We'll get to it eventually,
where he just looks thin. He looks like almost underweight.
He's got long hair, he's got like these sunken eyes.
I mean, it's it's December of January, Minnesota. Not everybody's
showing up with like this golden tan A major injury.

Speaker 5 (36:48):
Yeah, I mean he was her. He's never been this giant,
robust guy. Anyway.

Speaker 9 (36:51):
I'm sure the video is there somewhere. I know it
was there in the segment. Anyway, I would get rid
of that. It's like when Beyonce wanted that picture of Race.

Speaker 8 (36:57):
From the internet.

Speaker 9 (36:58):
That picture right there. That guy looks like he works
the counter at game Stop. All right, I've seen that
guy before, but I want to get rid of it.

Speaker 8 (37:05):
And I really is snacks on TikTok.

Speaker 9 (37:07):
Yeah, he's like shot foul buttons like subscribe today I'm
reviewing Hostess cupcakes.

Speaker 5 (37:13):
No, that's gonna be the French ivor breakfast.

Speaker 6 (37:16):
Foods, jawful frosted flags or fruston Midyway's hit me in
the comments up, guys, No, he's the the Vikings quarterback.

Speaker 9 (37:24):
I'm not gonna In fact, I think we should stop
showing that video as a show.

Speaker 5 (37:27):
We should unit. No, you like it. I think it's
on flattering.

Speaker 8 (37:31):
I think we're trying to turn the page on that thing.

Speaker 5 (37:34):
Yes, Jamie in the.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
Vein of the duck duck, great duck versus the duck
duck goose thing in Minnesota. That look right there is
totally state high school hockey tournament in Minnesota. Like that
guy's got great lettuce, he's got great hair coming out
of the back of the helmet. If you have not
seen this guy on YouTube who narrates like the top
ten hair performances of the state high school hockey tournament
in Minnesota, JJ McCarthy is channeling every single Vikings fan

(37:58):
who is a high school boy Minnesota. JJ McCarthy, I
see you. It tracks. Don't let any of these guys
say we're not going to this again. It works and
it would hit number one on that list.

Speaker 9 (38:07):
He also looks like he's one hundred and fifteen pounds
in the video too, Like the hair's great, it's just yeah,
well I guess so. But they do have weight rooms there,
and I've seen very muscular Vikings before, so I say
we don't.

Speaker 5 (38:18):
Show it anymore. Peter wants it like Amy wants it.
I'm already out voted.

Speaker 8 (38:21):
I like Uncrustable's pretty good, but I don't know you're.

Speaker 9 (38:24):
The one guy who likes uncrossable. Hot take Cominda, what
do you think gow?

Speaker 6 (38:28):
The game stop reference is absolutely crazy and that really
made me laugh out loud.

Speaker 5 (38:32):
Now, look these papers have in front of me.

Speaker 6 (38:33):
Just pretend it's about what nineteen million dollars whatever signing
bonus was. The Chips are all in on JJ McCarthy.
They're all in on this kid. I do expect them
to have some type of veteran quarterback presence, whether they
bring in a Jamis Winston or a Joe Flacko type
of guy. At the end of the day, I played
in Detroit, I've seen Justin Jefferson end our freaking dreams
at end of the game time and time again.

Speaker 5 (38:54):
This is the type of.

Speaker 6 (38:54):
Wide receiver that makes any and every quarterback that plays
in Minnesota.

Speaker 5 (38:59):
Vikings look good.

Speaker 6 (39:00):
They brought in Jordan Addison. He's been super explosive as well.

Speaker 5 (39:03):
I played with t J.

Speaker 6 (39:04):
Hockinson, great route runner, great hands.

Speaker 5 (39:07):
I think JJ McCarthy right now is set up for success.

Speaker 6 (39:11):
They went and brought in Ryan Kelly, brought in Will
Fries from Indianapolis. They showed up that offensive line. Everything
around him looks right. It looks all good on paper.
Now it's time to bring it to the test. Let's
see what this kid does.

Speaker 2 (39:23):
Okay, but what do you think of the photo? You're
deciding vote here? Do we keep showing the JJ McCarthy
video or picture?

Speaker 5 (39:29):
Yeah, you have to, You're good.

Speaker 6 (39:31):
You have to until he's bawling out and has you know,
thirty five touchdowns and ten picks. I think we got
to keep rolling.

Speaker 2 (39:36):
We have to keep showing it because like this is
the this is the documentary that we have, the documentation
I have, yes, go.

Speaker 7 (39:42):
The only footage we showed during the pre draft stuff
was him meditating under a goal post.

Speaker 8 (39:47):
So these are two options you have. He was mister
Zen and this is what he did.

Speaker 7 (39:52):
He meditated before games, and we celebrated the mental.

Speaker 8 (39:54):
Health aspect of it. We can't now bully.

Speaker 5 (39:57):
Him about having long.

Speaker 9 (39:58):
Hair, right, I mean, yeah, he made a play against
Alabama where we caught it with one hand and then three.

Speaker 5 (40:03):
Can we show that a look bit more instead of him.

Speaker 9 (40:05):
Looking like like a hostageous I don't want to.

Speaker 5 (40:07):
I don't want to do that. I'm against it, but again,
it's democracy. I'm commercial.

Speaker 3 (40:16):
Yeah, we get it back on GMFB.

Speaker 2 (40:19):
It's been a free agency frenzy this week.

Speaker 3 (40:22):
Look at this, Look at this, just big heart.

Speaker 2 (40:24):
If you were a Derrick Henry and DeAndre Hopkins fan,
you put those two guys on the same team. Now
take the Titans jersey off put a Raven's jersey on
Kyle specifically. I mean you just must love these two
plants together within this.

Speaker 3 (40:35):
Offense in Baltimore.

Speaker 11 (40:35):
Right.

Speaker 9 (40:36):
I wanted to start the show with it. I'm actually
still furious about it. Listen, huge huge names together in
Baltimore and lamar. I don't have a lot of memories
of DeAndre Hopkins on the Titans, obviously as a Texan
and as a cardinal in particular, and then we saw
him in the super Bowl like six weeks ago. But
he's a guy who brings us, got huge hands.

Speaker 5 (40:54):
And he get the jump ball and maybe we'll make
some places this year.

Speaker 3 (40:57):
All right, that's it.

Speaker 8 (40:58):
I'm rotting for him.
