Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
This is my favorite kind of Wednesday on Good Morning Football.
We were recently assigned a new question for the segment
we're about to do. We're all scrambling to come up
with our top five lists. We're live in New York
and Los Angeles this morning. Jamie Earl, Manti.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Teyo and Kyle Brand.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Kyle, are you like MANSI and I right now? Just
like we gotta do this. We gotta do this because
this one's a doozy.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
No, I'm not. I'm calm because I'm the guy who
we assigned it. I'm three thousand miles away.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
He said.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
No, let's change this list six minutes ago, in real
time from across the country. So I'm cool and ready
the questions.
Speaker 4 (00:41):
Are you guys ready?
Speaker 3 (00:42):
No, don't even row the open. I'm not prepared. Okay, fine,
it all right?
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Good Morning Football.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Yeah, that's right, it's gamfe.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Get in here, Kyle Mancay Tale and Jamie or Okayle
and I got the baby blue memo on a Wednesday.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
What's going on with you today?
Speaker 1 (01:09):
Man?
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Say see, there's a.
Speaker 5 (01:10):
Little wardrobe room and I like to go in there
sometimes and see what new additions to the jersey closet
that we have, and say, I've been with the Saints.
I told a story about this guy when I first
came on the show, and so when I saw the
forty one, I was like, Alvin Kamara, I need it.
And it always looks black, always looks good on TV,
so I don't look as good to go baby blue
like you guys in black.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
There's not many things that make Kyle more jealous than
your access to the jersey closet.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
Am I right, my friend?
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Yeah, I've been in there. I feel like when I've
been in that closet, I feel like Anne Hathaway with
Stanley Tucci and the product, like I want some of that.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
And you're going to do this, and you're going to
do this.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
I absolutely love it, So I don't blame it all that.
Speaker 5 (01:48):
The wardrobe actually right next to the jersey closet is
Kyle Brandt's Angry Runs vest and I'm woo yeah for KB.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
Just leave it.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
So we need a belt for this, Okay, So GMTB
on a Wednesday, we're going to lead block with the
Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 6 (02:04):
We began Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
His teammates report to training camp on July twenty first.
Not far from us, about our ninety minutes north Oxnard, California.
That's where they've been, That's where they always go. That's
where the training camp is. Remember, a hamstring injury prematurely
ended the quarterbacks twenty twenty four campaign, but it appears
good news is on the horizon. Tuesday, at Dak Prescott's
(02:27):
annual charity event, he talked about his health and his
new teammate George Pickens will take this.
Speaker 7 (02:34):
Yeah camp, Yeah, official sign off from doubt.
Speaker 8 (02:42):
As I said, haven't done with the trades before the
Brady Kilts return.
Speaker 7 (02:47):
On that guy's sake, he's been separation. He's got separation.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
You know, he's not getting the ball at times, and
heavily done.
Speaker 7 (02:53):
Have separation, he said, maybe even catch us ass that's
not what we are.
Speaker 8 (02:57):
Hear that guy and he will be.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Jepas he now has an embarrassment of riches when it
comes to the wider receiver room with George Pickens and
Ceedee Lamb. Now Dak Prescott, he's got to get healthy.
He's waiting for the official word. So he used a word,
they're exciting, And now my question is, are we prepared
to use the word exciting when we address the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
Mantay, are you prepared for this?
Speaker 5 (03:20):
I'm prepared for I think it doesn't There's not a
year that we go into the NFL football season when
the Cowboys do not have the word exciting attached to him.
That's been what it's since the eighties and nineties, the
word excitement and cowboys had been synonyms with each other.
I think I like to throw a little curve and
say that it's about time that we take the word
exciting away from him. And the whole reason why I
(03:42):
think we should take it away from him is back
in May, our fellow brother Kyle Brant went on a
rent about how they reminded him of tubbleware, and he
started talking about how he really literally feels nothing when
it comes to the Dallas Cowboys, and then a few
days later they go and make one of the most
explosive trades in all of NFL offseason history and signing
(04:03):
George Pick. So I would just want to remove the
word exciting with the Dallas Cowboys because it seems like
whenever if somebody says something on this show regarding the
Dallas Cowboys, something dramatic happens, or we're like, you know what,
how about them Cowboys?
Speaker 4 (04:18):
Right KB.
Speaker 5 (04:18):
So that's where I'm kind of going with this situation.
Is exciting is always with the Cowboys going into the season.
I think maybe we should throw a little curb and
ticket out.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
Okay, no, for real, that Pickens trade was both lightening
in the middle of a big, old empty Texas field
in which nothing was happening. But I do have to say,
you know what's really exciting right now? Trying to understand
one word that Dak Prescott said in that clip that
I just had. I understand that it's early July and
we're in the doldrums of the offseason and everyone's.
Speaker 4 (04:46):
Kind of mail the kid.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
I can't understand anything he's saying in that clip, and
I can't read well enough to understand the subtitles. Dak
Prescott one of the most well spoken players in the state.
We had the subtitle him because it's coming from underwater
on a Fisher Price recorder. We got six different sponsors
behind Dak Prescott. There's always a lot of money around him.
Let's go to radio shack next time to get a microphone.
(05:08):
It's a big season for the Cowboys. Let's do a
little better, Kyle.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
I think you're showing your hand a little bit because
while we understand that your career and your sports TV
time is prolific and in depth, clearly you haven't worked
at such low level local television that you are scrambling
when a player shows up at his own charity event
and you know that might be your one opportunity.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
For the summer.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
I have a memory of a hair plug event that
I had to get to too suite in Boston because
a Patriots player was showing up for it, and I'm like.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
Get the camera, get the mic. He might talk about
Tom Brady, like this is what you have to do.
Speaker 6 (05:43):
So I'm not going to judge that guy for not
having a microphone.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
Thank you for giving us a player to talk about
in July, and let's mind you a quarterback in the
NFC East.
Speaker 6 (05:53):
I'm not taking you down.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
John Machada from The Athletic, we appreciate the Dak Prescott
sound subtitle.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Anything you can tell John Machada really good writer. The
recording unbelievably bad. If that's sound is indicative of the
Cowboys season. They're going five and twelve and everybody's getting fired.
I hope it doesn't go that way.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
That's awful.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
It sounds like he's underwater exactly. Okay, So now here
comes the assignment that we were all scrambling for, but
apparently not Kyle Brand, because it's very prepared this morning.
Just as those guys were to get the Dak Prescott
sound at that event, we got at whiteboard's okay, because
when in doubt, get the whiteboard out the marker, but
never use the eraser because you have to stick by
your answers.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
Here we go the.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
Assignment that Kyle Brand gave us from cross Country top
five most interesting people, not.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
Just in Dallas, because apparently that's.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Not the word what we're using for that team, So
we have to broaden the scope to the division. Top
five most interesting people in the NFC East. Kyle feels like.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
You're prepared, So should I go with you first? Guys?
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Right? Yes, yeah, you want me to go first, to
take your time. You can even copy my answers if
you want to. All right, most interesting people anybody GMS
coaches players in the NFC East.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
I'm going to start.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
I'm going to start with the name that everybody knows
and you won't believe I only have him at five.
Saquon Barkley at number five. You know what's interesting about
Saquon Barkley. He's really trying to defy history right now.
And if you look at the two thousand yard rushers
the following season, the most anybody has had is Barry
Sanders and almost a six to seven hundred yard drop off.
It happens everybody is at the church of Saquon. He's
(07:22):
the most gifted runners ever, one of the best seasons ever.
Everything about NFL history says he's not going to be
nearly as productive as he was this year. That's just
a fact. Maybe he defies it. I think that's fascinating
to watch. Number four. See this is why this list
is fun. I go from Saquon to Adam Peters. This
is the general manager of the Washington Commanders, a guy
(07:43):
who is relatively new, who has been a lot rare experienced,
but never really been a GM before. He's got some
things on his plate. Now we have this Terry McLaurin situation,
that is this flying the ointment of this wonderful time
since Shane Daniels has shown up. I also think it's
interesting that Adam Peters has a background with San Francisco,
who had maybe a similar situation with Deebo. Samuel ended
(08:03):
up paying him a lot of money, it ended up
not being the best investment, and now he is actually
back in Washington. So there's all kinds of symmetry. Watch
Adam Peters, especially over the next month. Number three Jackson Dart,
rookie quarterback New York Giants. When are we going to
see this guy? When are we going to see him?
Where is he on the depth chart? He's got Russ,
He's got Jamis. At what point does Jackson Dart start?
(08:24):
I was thinking we're going to talk a little bit
about the Falcons this year this episode, because Kirk Cousins
is on the Netflix show, and we had Michael Pennix
just sitting there and sitting there and Cousins wasn't playing
well and the Falcons were losing. They finally just finally
pulled them late in the season. Do they do the
same with Dart or is it one of the veterans
all the way? Number two is very simple. I have
Jayden Daniels. Number two I've never seen a rookie season
(08:47):
like that from any quarterback, and I was very young
when Marino was there, and there's been some other guys
who have been great, never so effortless. Can he really
run that back? I saw Cam Newton was talking recently,
another guy who had a prolific rookie season, about Robert
Griffin third and how he was amazing for the same
franchises are Rooking the ended up getting injured. I think
Argi three's playing style has a lot to do with
(09:09):
that at how Mike Shanahan used him and got him injured.
I don't think Jane Daniels is that kind of realm,
but I'd love to see what do you do for
an encore? Is there a drop off or is that
just the beginning of that experience? And Number one, the
most interesting person I have in the NFC East. It's
hard to fit his name is name is Brian Schottenheimer,
the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. We were just
talking about earlier. There's all this talk about a breath
(09:31):
of fresh air in Dallas. This is a guy who
has been around for years, nay decades. I was just
watching the twenty ten divisional game between the Jets and
the Patriots. That can't wait Bart Scott game. Brian Schottenheimer
was the offensive coordinator for Rex Ryan there. That was
fifteen years ago. He has been around. He has finally
been given his shot, and he's got a backwards advisor
(09:54):
and they're playing ping pong and they're having team dinners
and everybody seems to really like it. Will they really
like it in December and January? I'm Team Schottenheimer. I
like the vibe that he's bringing the Dallas Cowboys coach
brand new at this stage of his life, the first
time head coach.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
Very interesting.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
That is my list. Guys, sako on, Adam Peters, Jackson,
Dark Jay and Daniels and number one Brian Shottenneimber.
Speaker 5 (10:16):
What do you say this is when you know that
KB was prepared for this.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
I know he got.
Speaker 5 (10:20):
Coaching GMSS players and all of that stuff.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
I got straight players, guys, Okay, okay.
Speaker 5 (10:27):
Number five, I have Frankie Louver who Frankie Louver who
is one of the most interesting players for me. He's
on a team full of alpha males like Bobby Wagner,
Jayden and Daniels. Frankie Louver. Hold on, let me move
this down a little bit. Frankie louv is a guy
that leads that three game huddle. He's a guy that
doesn't that's he's one of the most interesting guys for me.
(10:47):
Also jumping over the top of centers trying to do
the push push. Second is Jordan my lot We talked
about being miked up. Who would want to have miked
up yesterday? I don't know if you heard about heard
the miked up thing from Jordan Mylotto where he starts
quoting Baine. It's probably one of the most terrorising things
that you'll ever hear, especially with that Australian accent that
he has. Yep, he's very interesting to me. Number Three
(11:09):
Michael Parsons. Michael Parsons not only because of his dominance
on the football field, but now that Michael Parsons whoo
woo woo, now that Michael Parsons has a podcast, he's
always given us some things to talk about. So he's
definitely somebody that we like to follow in, somebody that
we consider very interesting. Number two kind of like how
KB said Jackson Dart and the reason why I like
(11:29):
Jackson Dart was I was watching John Gruden's Little show
when he was asking Jackson Dart, Hey, what does your
snap count? And he collaps and.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
He's like, what if it's on two?
Speaker 4 (11:40):
He's like, all right, I clap twice.
Speaker 5 (11:42):
He's one of the most interesting guys that you, I
think going into this NFL season. And then also when
they asked him at his post draft interview, they said,
what's your favorite song? You know, he said Kodak Black Scrilla.
So from somebody to be from Utah, to go to
USC then to Ole Miss and for his favorite song
to be Kodak, But Kodak Black Scrilla very interesting out
(12:04):
number one. I think it's number one, not on only
not only in the NFC East, but in the whole NFL.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
Come on, guys, it's jamisweet.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
What are we doing?
Speaker 1 (12:10):
Like?
Speaker 5 (12:10):
What are we doing?
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Like?
Speaker 5 (12:11):
This guy's taking home the trophy. He got first place
in on my list. And so here's my list of
the five most interesting people, which me and Jamie just
came up with.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
Yep, two minutes ago.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
I went more Kyle's direction. You went authentically interesting in
their life. I think Kyle and I went more with
they're making life interesting right now?
Speaker 3 (12:29):
Maybe for their team or for the division.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
So I see what you're putting down, Kyle, and it's
gonna I have some similarities here, and I too, begin
with Shoddy. With Brian Schottneimer, the authentic backwards visor is
fascinating me because he also hired Matt Eberflus after he
was unceremoniously let go from the Chicago Bears. Now Eberflus
is going to show up with his Jordan's.
Speaker 6 (12:49):
Isn't he like a sneaker guy in the sideline?
Speaker 2 (12:52):
I think people sometimes flirt with the I'm a sneaker person,
but it's not genuine, it's not authentic, and like that
might be true for Eberflus, but sometimes it just doesn't track.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
The backwards Visor it could not track.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
But it's working for Shoddy, and I think he's committed
to it and I like it and I like this vibe.
And I still am obsessed with the fact that he
made people move spots around in the locker room and
I want to know who's sitting next to who and
who doesn't like it? All right, that's my number five,
number four this so I'm very excited about this one.
What would Zach be Zach Bond because the Eagles defense
in and of itself has had some changes. Running it
(13:24):
back on a Super Bowl win is interesting in and
of itself.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
But when I type in Zach b on the good
old Google.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
Search machine, so many other people show up before Zach Bond,
and I think that's unfair. As a finalist for the
NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Zach Braff, Zach Brown,
the Country Singer. There's a Zach Begans Haunted museum in
Las Vegas. Zach Bauchamp, who I think is a baseball
or a hockey player or Beauchamp, But Zach Bond, to
me is one of the most fascinating and interesting players
at the NFC East. Also Kenny run it Back and
(13:52):
who is this year? Zach Bond would be the next
question that I have. So he's not my number four,
number three. George Pickens.
Speaker 6 (13:59):
Come on, guys on the list, get what this guy did.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
Not only Pittsburgh.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
When he was at Georgia it was messy at times.
I mean there were times where he was doing things
on kickoffs and Kirby Smart was like, George, what are
you doing?
Speaker 3 (14:13):
Come on, man?
Speaker 2 (14:13):
And then he goes Mike Tomlin deals him out of Pittsburgh.
So I'm putting George Pickens on my list. Cliff Kingsbury, Kyle,
I'm drapping Cliff Kingsbury. What did you do last year
at that quarterback and now you have Deebo Samuel in
that wide receiver room?
Speaker 3 (14:27):
What's this offense going to look?
Speaker 1 (14:28):
Like?
Speaker 2 (14:28):
This to me very intriguing, interesting and fascinating and also
just redefining what the Cliff Kingsbury experience in the NFL
is for me. And then number two, I also have
Jackson's dart, but mostly from like the a Rod Derek Jeter,
Eli Manning, Like you are a star in the New
York market.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
You are a.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Handsome young man who is recently entering the New York
City area. Like what tabloid is going to catch you
doing whatever? Like and I hope it's nothing, but if
it does, but if it does, Like what is this?
Speaker 3 (14:57):
Are you at? Are you on Broadway? Are you at
a Knicks game?
Speaker 2 (15:00):
This like the entire experience he's on TikTok, Like do
the giants like that?
Speaker 6 (15:04):
How does he tether to Brian Dables' success?
Speaker 3 (15:07):
This is my list and I'm sticking to it. That
list thank you.
Speaker 4 (15:09):
It's a good list.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
I blew it not having Pickens. Pickings should be way
way up. I didn't even have my time. I thought
I was going to be the teacher's patent named GM's
and all that type of stuff.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
Like I'm schrager.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
Now I should have had Pickens on my list.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
I messed it up. Sorry.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
I don't think I've ever usurped Kyle in a top
five list, and now I will, like, literally don't have
to come to work tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
Coming up on GMFB, receiver Marvin Harrison Junior is looking
to improve on his rookie campaign, as they always are.
He took that to me and he added some muscle.
He's having a glow up. Apparently there's photo evidence. The
Cardinals posted it. This is a whiteboard Wednesday segment. You're
not gonna want to miss it, mostly because I get
to participate, Kyle. What else do we have going on today?
Speaker 1 (15:49):
I feel like Marvin Harrison Junior had plenty of muscle before.
I'm interested to see the pictures. But listen, I think
the best overall athlete in the NFL. Yes, I said it.
Lane Johnson, two time Super Bowl champion Eagles legend future,
all of family. Yes, if I had a vote, which
I should, Lane's coming on and got all kinds of
things to talk about with Lane.
Speaker 7 (16:09):
We always do.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
We've known him for years. We're getting him in minutes.
It's good morning football, don't go anywhere. Good morning fall.
Speaker 6 (16:27):
Hurts.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
It's bet Hurts has plenty of time.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
He's looking, he's fired.
Speaker 9 (16:31):
He completes it, touts down head, Hurts.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
Back looking, he is going deep and it is put
to the fun forty so sure, the slim Reaper, it's over.
Speaker 9 (16:48):
The Philadelphia Eagles of one Super Bowl fifty nine. They
have beat l Kansas City Chiefs twenty to twenty two.
It's their second super Bowl with a seven years. What
a game, what a season, what a team, the greatest
Eagles team in mod of history. Eagles fans say, Flitch,
(17:09):
and we're.
Speaker 1 (17:09):
Doing one of the least competitive super Bowls ever played.
Speaker 4 (17:14):
Let's just call it what.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
It was a shellacking from start to finish. And it
was the second one that this dude came out victorious.
After I think top to bottom, there is not a
better athlete in the NFL. There's not an older friend
of this show. And it's about to play his thirteenth
NFL season. Is that right? Two timesh Bowl Champlaine Johnson
was up, Lane, how are we doing better? What is up?
Speaker 4 (17:34):
Good morning? Yeah? Camp is upon us, so yeah, a
few weeks away, so so getting revved up.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
Well, all the other teams are getting revved up. Part
of your reving Lane is just little incident you gotta do.
Where you got to go collect your Super Bowl ring?
We have now heard that is going to happen on
July eighteenth. You get the rings? Is there a little party?
Speaker 3 (17:54):
What is this like?
Speaker 1 (17:55):
And how does it feel to actually get the hardware?
Speaker 4 (17:57):
That's a good question. I didn't really remember the first one,
so I'll tell you more about this one. But yeah, yeah,
you have a ceremony and then yeah, I don't remember
much after that, but I'll tell you more soon.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
Now, Lane, the vet status that you have right now
to be able to do this interview in your car,
As you said before training camp starts, you're in the
cutoff tea.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
Where are you right now? What are you going?
Speaker 2 (18:21):
What are you preparing to go do with your day?
Are we interrupting a workout, a stretch session? What's going
on in Lane's life right now?
Speaker 4 (18:27):
Yeah, no, some of my dad's house. Yeah, just visiting family.
I don't know if he has WiFi here, So I'm
out in the Yeah we are, Yeah, getting ready for
Oline Masterminds in the Night at the Philly soon, So
you have to do a little last minute seeing family
then getting ready to head up in the horse.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Well maybe with some of that contract extension money you
can boost Dad's Wi Fi signal so you can do
these interviews properly from wherever you are. This contract that
you got keeps you in Philly through twenty twenty seven,
so your congratulations. Truly it would be your fifteenth season
if you accomplish this, which would tie you with another
favorite friend of our show, Brandon as the longest tenored Eagle.
(19:06):
Do you guys have conversations about this? Do you have
a goal to beat him? Do you put do you
accept ending in a tie?
Speaker 7 (19:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (19:13):
If there's anybody to end a tie with? Beg yeah,
he just yeah. It's it's crazy that, you know, we
had a number of guys all say together for all
these years, and yeah, I mean it doesn't feel like
number thirteen, but you know here it is. You know,
I still feel young at heart, but you know, you
can't ignore father Tom, and but I'm still having fun
(19:35):
and I enjoy what I do and I love being
around the guys competing, and yeah, it's just something that
I really love, love doing ever minute of it.
Speaker 5 (19:44):
Bro, Come on, Lane, you're old, bro. And the reason
why I say we're classmates, Like we're drafted this same year.
Obviously you was drafted fourth overall. I believe it was
the first day. I was drafted second day. We played
it against each other once. But what keeps you going, bro? Like,
why after thirteen seasons are you looking at this game
(20:05):
called football?
Speaker 4 (20:06):
And what gets you up?
Speaker 5 (20:07):
And like, man, I got to go train, I got.
Speaker 4 (20:09):
To get ready.
Speaker 5 (20:09):
What keeps you going late?
Speaker 4 (20:10):
Yeah, I mean I think I just I really like
structuring routine and so you know, after a long season,
you get to all season and it's totally different. So
I do look forward mostly, I think getting around the
guys and being around the people that I love and enjoy.
So there's just something about laid it all online every week.
It's hard to replicate that in any other profession. But yeah,
(20:31):
it's very entertaining day to day. We put in work,
but you know, for me, it's all about the relationships
that I formed, and you know that'll last a lot
of time, you know what. Lane.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
There was some other work that was put in by
some people in the off season, and that was to
save the push Push, which happened. It's alive. It's well,
it's legal. You guys can run it as much as
you want next year. Personally, I think it's a huge victory.
I've been screaming at this table that it should not
be taken away from you, But there are still people
(21:01):
out there who disagree. I want to play you a
clip and this is from one Frankie Louvu, who was
the maniac evil Knievel diver over the line in the playoffs,
and he was on the show Land a little ways
back and we asked him what he thinks should be
done with the touch push and here's his response.
Speaker 8 (21:19):
Yeah, I think they should bet it, you know what
I mean. But I know the argument is going to
be about like, hey, well you guys have to stop it.
Don't get us his shortyard is and whatnot, But it's
kind of like a cheap no play man. You got
Jordan my Lotto on the right. It's pretty much the
scrumming rugby that's how I kind of look at it.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
So they should ban it. It's a cheap code. It's
just scrumbing rugby lane. You're right in the middle of it.
What do you have to say to everyone who has
a negative opinion about that play?
Speaker 4 (21:45):
Yeah, it has become a weird play. It was something
that you know, we'd run every so often, and I
never thought it would have grown to this magnitude of
what it has become. Listen, you know, I think the
guys who should have the votes are probably the center
and both the guards and probably the d tackles that
are in. Then it'll it just Yeah, it's something when
(22:07):
you do it consecutively, you know. I think the main
thing was they were worried about player safety. So yeah,
I mean it's something that I run. I don't think
a lot about it, you know, going to each play,
but yes it does. It does favor a rugby scrum,
but it's our rugby scrum.
Speaker 7 (22:24):
I guess.
Speaker 2 (22:25):
Yeah, it's your little rugby rugby scrum and it gets
into the end zone. You guys love it. Lane training
camp just around the corner. How do you approach this
by Now it's your thirteenth one, you have to have
some skills or like tactful ability to negotiate and get
through training camp because it's the dog days of summer.
(22:45):
You guys are a bunch of veterans on that line.
How do you go about training camp making sure you
survive it?
Speaker 4 (22:49):
Yeah, one day at a time, and I really soak
in the meeting time with Stout and coach Greg Olson.
You know, there's a lot of comedic aspects to the
meeting as you can imagine, so lots of new faces.
So yeah, once I get and then yeah, we really
take a day of time and you know, once we
have a joint practice two, it's you know, we're in
(23:11):
the game. So for us, it's just about saying healthy
and you had to stay on top of your routine
just so you can practice hard and get through it.
Speaker 3 (23:18):
Totally.
Speaker 5 (23:19):
Think we were talking a little bit before we came
on camera about the last time that I saw. The
last time played I played against you is Notre Dame
versus Oklahoma, And I don't know what you remember about
that game, but what I do remember was it was
probably one of the most electric environments as a night game.
I remember you guys had the red white alternating colors
in the stands. I also do remember the scouting report
(23:40):
was we were going to blitz the right side of
the offensive line and not the left side of the
offensive line because number sixty nine was over there named
Lane Johnson.
Speaker 4 (23:47):
And we ain't going that way.
Speaker 5 (23:48):
What do you remember about that game that stood out
for you guys?
Speaker 4 (23:51):
I was like it, man, those those handwis are really good.
That they are is what they appear. Yeah, I mean
it was a game. I think it was really competitive
the first half. Then the second half, Yeah, really got
away from us. I remember seeing you just little blurs,
this little blurs out out of my periphials, you just
slide around and trying to trying to work up to
(24:13):
you through safan to it. So, yeah, we came in
on the unfortunate side of that game. But yes, I
do remember it just being very fast and yeah, like
you said, it was electric that night, especially y'all coming
into town like that.
Speaker 7 (24:26):
No, it was.
Speaker 5 (24:27):
It was definitely a great experience too, great programs going
against each other and talking about Oklahoma. NFL dot Com
recently released it's twenty twenty five Top Top ten Triplets
by college affiliation, which group the top quarterback running back
and wide receiver. And I don't know if you've seen it, Lane,
but Oklahoma came out on top. They had Baker Mayfield,
Joe Mixon, and CD Lamb. How does that feel for
(24:48):
your alma mater to be recognized that way? And I
know you do have a quarterback right now that you
just want a Super Bowl with that technically did go
to Oklahoma? Would you make any changes to that list?
Speaker 4 (24:59):
Yeah, you could swap in uh Jalen you know in
the middle there if you want to, if you wanted to.
But I think it's uh, I think it's awesome just
uh for these guys to carry on tradition and things
that they've accomplished in college and now being recognized in
the NFL. You know, I think they did things the
right way. And uh yeah, I mean it's hard to
argue with what they picked because that was a special
(25:20):
time and sooner program history, and I think they are
all eager to get back on track this year. So yeah,
it's a it's definitely a new thing going to the SEC.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
But it is what it is, it always is, and
what it is what it is right now, Lane is
ol masterminds. I want to hear about this. I want
more people to know about it. You are hosting the
eighth annual OL Mastermind Summit. It begins in a few days. Like,
give us the state of the nation. What is this
all about? Tell the people.
Speaker 4 (25:49):
Yeah, it's all about growing the game. It's all about
you know, online development. So we're able to get some
of the highest uh you know then and the best
players that have that have ever played the positions to
come into your room and really talk everything from you know,
off the field routine to diet. How are we attacking
the run game, pass game, so you really just go
(26:09):
into the dynamics of O line football and yeah, it's
just a great weekend to really develop and create new relationships.
So it started off with twenty seven people. This year
we're having around two hundred. We had to scale it
back a little bit compared to last year, but yeah, really,
you know, two days for camp and we're talking everything
in between the lines, and we have guys show Thomas
(26:31):
coming this year, Deon Dawkins and Portillo's is hooking us
up for lunch at a new venue as that cause
them this year. So definitely exciting about that. Lane.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
Listen, you had us at Portillo's. I was born and
raised in Chicago. I was raised on the Italian beef.
Is the beef bus coming to the ol masterminds? And
which offensive lineman does DraftKings have? Is the best odds
to put away.
Speaker 4 (26:57):
The most Ooh, that is a good question. I do
not know if the bus will be here. I will
probably know here in a few hours, but I would
be in there. Let's see Joe Thomas lost some weight,
so I think you can put something back on. Yeh
can smashed down some food pretty well and then.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
He'll lecture you on how to cook it, because Joe's
really big on that. He's got his blow torch and
he does the stakes.
Speaker 7 (27:21):
You know that.
Speaker 4 (27:22):
Lane.
Speaker 1 (27:23):
It is so good to see you, no doubt, no doubt.
Speaker 4 (27:25):
And he looks great.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
But let's blow him up a little bit. We've been
present with you for years, Lane, before you were a
two time Super Bowl champ. We're always happy when you
come by. Pray for your dad's Wi Fi because this
one's beautiful. Lane Johnson of the Philadelphia Eagles. Everybody, it's
great to see you, my man.
Speaker 4 (27:40):
Thank you all. I appreciate y'all having me.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
I'm observing something about flag football. It makes everyone look
cool when you play it. Yesterday it was our girl,
Serenity Signman out of Florida, and now this guy, Daniel
Berry flag football Star and his team Metro Select are
back to back fifteen You Boys NFL Flag champions. Barry's
performance back in twenty twenty four was absolutely astounding and
it earned him the ability to just stand there like
(28:03):
that and look awesome because he is the NFL Flag
Player of the year.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
Lock down the field with the score.
Speaker 7 (28:10):
My name is Dani Berry. I'm an athlete and I
played for.
Speaker 9 (28:15):
Player over the years.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
Congratulations Daniel ber I played quarterback, receivers, defense, running like everything.
Speaker 4 (28:21):
It's very again.
Speaker 3 (28:22):
He is the next level athlete.
Speaker 10 (28:24):
I started playing when I was like five, and I
started going to tournaments that got really good, and I
just kept playing because it got fun.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
It was gonna take it to the house.
Speaker 7 (28:32):
Flag is very excited. Anything can happen at any moment.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
I'll pick six for Daniel Barry.
Speaker 10 (28:37):
When I play, I just like to shine and just
show that how the hard work is playing off. We
trained hard for this, and we know teams that want
to beat us, so we gotta come fight harder even
when it gets hard, he's.
Speaker 7 (28:47):
Gonna push the we gotta get to win.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
The kid.
Speaker 10 (28:50):
To watch any tournament I go to, I think about
winning it, Louise, I wouldn't have my business being there.
Speaker 7 (28:55):
Is definitely just more than the game. It's competitive. It's
everything that you think.
Speaker 3 (28:59):
Well, if you want to be cool, like Daniel, go
find a flag league near you.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
It's an NFL flag dot com and as the best
flag football players from across the country compete this summer
in Canton, Ohio.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
You can watch them.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
Catch live coverage of the NFL Flag Championships presented by Toyota,
beginning July eighteenth on aud ESPN, ABC.
Speaker 3 (29:18):
And IT Disney Networks.
Speaker 5 (29:29):
Good Football.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Someone just told me my ear not to panic, and
I'm not gonna panic because I get to play waitboard
Wednesday today. Okay, usually just you have the questions and
I provide emotional support. But no, there's only three of us,
so I get to play all right. Up first, there's
no panic here, only preparation.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
Up.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
First, did you guys see the off season glow up
hosted by the Arizona Cardinals.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
Now this is a glow up.
Speaker 2 (29:54):
Don't be distracted by the sleeve what you are seeing
on the left side is Marvin Harrison Junior before his
rookie season.
Speaker 3 (29:59):
Then on the right.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
Side you're seeing like an extra inch and a half
on the bicep and muscle everywhere for Marvin Harris Jr.
Put on some serious muscle. Okay, that's called a glow up.
He also switched T shirts underneath, and he looks great.
Marves Marvin Harrison Junior looking for a second season jump.
Here's our first whiteboard question. The player that you think
(30:21):
is going to have a glow up man tie this
season is See.
Speaker 5 (30:25):
When you think of the term glow up, you think appearance.
For me, I went football related as far as performance.
So the player that I have going into this year
that I think is going to have a glow up
is Cole Rich Bernard Strong, the Fourth aka CJ THEJJ,
CJ shrub Stroup. Anyway, the reason why I think that
(30:48):
he's going to have a glow up, this whole name
like threw me off, was like, wait, what's his name?
Speaker 1 (30:52):
I don't miss trump, not this. I try to get
creative and it's screwed my whole take. Anyway, Yeah, the.
Speaker 5 (30:59):
Reason why this he's going to have a glow up
is I think a lot of us compare him to
his rookie year when he won the offensive Thank you, Jamie,
I'm trying to focus the offensive Rookie player of the
Year followed up by a not so impressive second season.
Some called to consider a sophomore slump. But I looked
at his ranking. He was seventeenth. He was a seventeenth
(31:20):
frank quarterback. Overall, that's not too bad. That's the middle
of the pack. And you're sacked fifty two times. Like,
tell me somebody who would get sacked fifty two times
and it would have any type of success, Like that's
who I'm looking as having a glow up? Did you
put Jamie Stroud strong.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
Panicking?
Speaker 5 (31:40):
I can't even spell Okay, I freaing have the name
right here? Anyway, I need a glow up. Okay, I
need a glow up on this show.
Speaker 4 (31:48):
You just had a glow up.
Speaker 1 (31:50):
At the beginning of that segment, you weren't speaking English,
and at the end you were so insid Jack.
Speaker 5 (31:55):
Prescott in the beginning of their stuff, and now I'm
making now I'm making sense.
Speaker 3 (31:59):
Jeez it, you got there, We got there. It's Coleridge
That's why he said CJ. Okay, you know who doesn't
have nineteen problems with the Z on it anymore is.
Speaker 2 (32:12):
Deebo Samuel. This is his Twitter handle. Okay, Deebo Samuel Senior.
Mind you as a Washington Commanders player. Now, I am
not here for any of the vitriol that was coming
out about this dude's body when he was living in
San Francisco because allegedly, if you ask his coaches, he's
put in the work. There was a quote float around
out there from Dan Quinn from this offseason. I was like,
(32:32):
when this guy runs, you feel it in the ground.
That is power in his lower body. It's not because
always heavy, he always gained weight.
Speaker 3 (32:39):
Uh huh.
Speaker 2 (32:39):
He's gonna give everybody else in the NFL problems a
twentieth one if you don't deal with him, because they
already had one wide receiver and Terry McLaurin. Now they
have Deebo Samuel, and I think that's an issue for
everybody else. So I think it's Deebo Samuel, and he's
going to quiet a lot of people who making fun
of him, which I didn't like.
Speaker 3 (32:54):
Nobody shaming.
Speaker 1 (32:54):
You're taking debo in fantasy this year, Jamie, you're going
to draft Deebo Samuels.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
I'd probably panic and do it well.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Speaking of panic, I'm going to try to copy Mantai here,
and I'm going to go with my favorite Bears quarterback
Caleb Winston. No, what's his last Williams?
Speaker 4 (33:12):
All right, hold on.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
You man. We've all done it, dude, We've all done it. Caleb.
Caleb first, Dame, I only Caleb. I think this is
the year. It's year two. Let's go personal story. I
ran into Caleb a couple of weeks ago and I
had a very very very nice conversation, nothing long, but
just my takeaway from how does he come off in
(33:35):
a social setting? Very very solid, very confident, very calm,
looks you right in the eye. I'm making that sort
of entry level conversation about oh, I'm from the North
suburb of Chicago. Where you live and work? You know,
where do you like to go out and eat? What
are the restaurants? He's like, I don't go out, I
don't go out to eat, I don't do anything. I'm
always home. I'm like, Caleb, I like that about you, dude.
(33:56):
He told me that Dune Too is his favorite movie.
There are certain people that have looked at him as
the title character in that movie, as this messiah for
the Bears. He just laughs that off. He comes off
very solid, very likable. Is that going to help him
on third and twelve against the Vikings? Of course not.
But I'll tell you this, he ended his rookie year
(34:16):
by doing what Bears quarterbacks do not do, which is
going to lambeau Field and winning the game. That was
a really big deal. Nobody really cared about the end
of the season because the Bears were relevant. They lost
ten games in a row. Bears fans did, Packers fans did.
The Bears don't go to that building and win. He
is currently undefeated as a Bears quarterback again lambeau Field,
(34:37):
and I know he's looking to go to and O
next year.
Speaker 3 (34:38):
I think Caleb has a year all right.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
I love that he's not going out in Chicago. Kyle's like,
where do you eat? He's like, I don't. I just
stay in.
Speaker 3 (34:45):
This is fascinating.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
Last week, Darren Waller has officially come out of retirement
and he signed with the Miami Dolphins.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
The tight end. So here's the question. It's just strange.
There's the Raiders to.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
The Giants and then took a beat and now he's
at the Dolphins school Enjoy Miami. We'll see if you
can make a difference on the offense, which which to
a like support?
Speaker 3 (35:05):
He needs support like that. So here's a question from
any sport.
Speaker 2 (35:09):
Pick a player that you would love to see come
out of retirement for one last game.
Speaker 3 (35:14):
Anti Who is it.
Speaker 5 (35:15):
I'm not going to misspell this guy's name because he's
probably going to.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
Beat me up.
Speaker 5 (35:18):
John bone Jones. Okay, two weeks ago, John bone Jones
retired from the MMA. John bone Jones is the greatest
pound for pound fighter in the UFC. Ever, like some
people have weaknesses, this guy has no weakness. Like he's
either really good at striking or he's really good at grappling.
This guy can do both. He's one of the most
He's one of the most electric fighters of all time.
So if I hope that John Bone Jones comes out
(35:40):
of retirement, he sounded.
Speaker 3 (35:42):
Like he might.
Speaker 5 (35:43):
But until he does, I guess we'll never know.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
Women's basketball is having an absolute moment right now, and
a lot of it has to do with Caitlin Clark
and a lot of really talented players, but there was
a time where I wish I was one. Iota as
tough as this point guard myself in the face.
Speaker 3 (35:56):
Why don't I always do that with this whiteboard?
Speaker 2 (35:58):
Don Staley was an absolute dog when she played. She's
from Philadelphia.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
She has the apps.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
Underdog, whatever mask you want to put on mentality. She
was so freaking fierce as a as a basketball player.
And if she could come out and play one where
at this age, she could do it and she would
beat a handful of people. I love Don stealely as
a coach, but as a player, she was everything you
wanted to be as a point guard.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
And I just think, yes, Don Steely, Yes number five
for the sting. Oh go Kyle.
Speaker 1 (36:28):
I will take it easy, Take a breath, We'll be
all right.
Speaker 4 (36:31):
It's okay. Everyone.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
Nobody hurt themselves. I just located his jaw with his
first answer, and you almost gave yourself a black guy
with your second.
Speaker 4 (36:39):
What athlete do I.
Speaker 1 (36:40):
Want to come back Michael Jordan right now at sixty
two years old, get back in their goat, because me
as a basketball fan, when I'm watching the Eastern Conference Finals,
be Pacers versus Nicks. Two pathetic franchises that were children
of Michael Jordan for his entire career, who always thought
(37:01):
we're gonna beat him this year and never did. Who
would take the New Games seven and said this is
the year. It never was the year. I just imagine
him on a yacht with a tequila and a cigar
at sixty two years old, laughing that the Nixon Pacers
actually think they're going to do anything of consequence in
the finals or semi finals. Wish they didn't. I want
them to come out at sixty two and just still
(37:21):
slap them around seventy two eighty two. As long as
he has oxygen in his lungs, the Nixon Pacers will
never amount to anything. And that's all I don't want
to see.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
Oh my gosh, and the video of him on the
yacht listening to the Bulls theme song with the champagne.
Speaker 4 (37:35):
Oh yeah, so good levels.
Speaker 7 (37:37):
Levels.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
All right, here's the last question.
Speaker 2 (37:39):
Donkey Kong the Arcade game was released on this day
in nineteen eighty one. Okay, that is the premise for
our final question. You hear the word arcade, many people
think donkey Kong.
Speaker 3 (37:51):
If that's if you were in a child of the
early eighties.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
If I say arcade to you, Mantai, what comes to mind?
Speaker 5 (37:59):
Well, a game that comes to mind when I hear
arcade is Galago Galaga. If you ever played the game Galaga,
you can push that button as fast as you want,
it's still going to go at the same speed. So
no matter how how fast you push that yellow button,
it's still gonna shoot. It's kind of like five minutes
before this whole show when you find out that the
(38:20):
follow up question is a top five most interesting players.
My mind is going as fast as I'm pushing a button,
but the production is at the same slow rate that
that ship would shoot. So when I hear arcade, I
think of the game Galaicu.
Speaker 2 (38:33):
I hear the word arcade and I think rage. And
that's the uh, that's what I used to feel when
I would play ski ball?
Speaker 1 (38:39):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (38:39):
Is that every is that how we all call it?
Because ski ball, this thing used to take all of
my money. It's always the last thing that you either
first walk in and you're just like, oh this, I'm
gonna warm up on this, or you're trying to leave
and you physically cannot extract yourself from the arcade because
you are so desperately trying.
Speaker 3 (38:56):
I guess it should be like this, now that I
see the game.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
You're desperately trying to get one of those upper right corners,
which is so impossible because you had a ricocheting off
the metal fence that's up there, and I am not
beyond kind of crawling up there. If it was socially
acceptable to try to drop the ball into one of
those holes just to get ultimate tickets, yeah, I've done that,
especially if the arcades not two packed, because if I
(39:19):
wanted a certain like stuffed animal, you have to get
it in ski ball, because those machines just actually print
tickets for you.
Speaker 4 (39:26):
Jamie.
Speaker 1 (39:26):
It's literally against the law to go up and do that.
Why are you making a confession on Good Morning Football
that you would break the law? If that's skeball I want.
Speaker 3 (39:34):
To make in terms of law breaking, I accept.
Speaker 2 (39:37):
Yes, I've climbed up the sentral mechanism at arcade.
Speaker 1 (39:40):
At an arcade, Jamie's the person who saved her tickets
all summer long, neglected eighty thousand tickets to get the
transistor radio on the top road. That wow, Jamie, You're
usually the light. You're the girl next door. You're the
good one of us. You're not supposed to go up
there and put them in the thing.
Speaker 3 (39:57):
I really wanted the radio. I really wanted that discmn
oh the discman.
Speaker 1 (40:03):
Yeah, well the disc Man. I mean that was one
hundred thousand tickets. Now they're still trying to earn the discman.
All right, So here's the deal. When I think of
arcade games, I think there's a distinguishing factor. And I
take this stuff seriously because I was raised in this arcades.
All the classic arcade games you could think of, be
it Galaga or NBA Jam or Mortal Kombat, they've all
been repurposed in the console games. You can play them
(40:24):
at home with a control. With one exception, when you
would go to the arcade, the games that had the
giant weapon that you would wield and fire, whether it
be Terminator two or Time Crisis or House of the
Dead or Virtue a Cop, you can't have that at
home on your couch, and neither can you have it
for the goat of all the handheld weapon games, which
(40:45):
was a game called Operation Wolf. This was the og
of those games in which you were packing an oozy
and you were going into these camps trying to just
blast everything, and on the left side there was a
red button with which you could launch grenades. You never
had enough. You always ended up down on the ground
and they would say you are finished here unless you
(41:06):
add more tokens. Not quarters, but tokens that put back
in operation Wolf. I love you in that big arcade
in the sky.
Speaker 4 (41:12):
I miss you.
Speaker 3 (41:13):
I know that red button. I know that game just
from that side, red button grenade.
Speaker 4 (41:18):
I'm CHRISTI
