Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Oh here we go, Welcome to Good Morning Football. We
have yeses. You could see a loaded table Mike Cam
here in Los Angeles. We got my guys. I a
standback ready to rock and roll. Former Giants running back
of Shod Jennings.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
And a five time Pro Bowl offensive tackle from the
Safts and Dolphins. Yes, sir On Armstead, ready to roll
with you. And yes, we do also have the best
one to punch in the backfield. You will discuss and
the craziest sports moments we have ever seen. But first,
it's a future Hall of Famer saying Swansea, good mom, mom.

Speaker 4 (00:53):
The starting of a new era in Green Bay. Aaron
Rodgers takes over a quarterback for Brett Fire passed first
NFL touchdown the Green Bay Packers, our world champion number
one quarterback.

Speaker 5 (01:06):
Oh there's Channing, MVP.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Doctor deliver. Aaron Rodgers has done yet the way The
New York Jets have agreed to terms on a trade
for Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
Not here to be a savior of any kind.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
I'm just here to be the best quarterback I could beat.

Speaker 6 (01:24):
Aaron Rodgers puts it right in his head. It's a
jet touchdown, Aaron Rodgers, it's a jet touchdown.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Rogers looking for five hundred red he's got.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
It's a Toddler conclude, Aaron Rodgers is really going to
don the black and gold.

Speaker 7 (01:43):
This was a decision that was best for my soul.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
There is so much to get to today. Welcome to
a brand new edition of Good Morning Football. He always
brings the energy. I just got to call you out though,
but yes, I get out onto the set. You're responsible
for the music. I have to ask Ron what his
plate pregame playlist is. Why is it coming from my phone?

Speaker 5 (02:05):
You know what?

Speaker 6 (02:06):
I think we appreciate the fact that you know you're
only one who hasn't had to hit a grown man.
I think you're the only one who has a histeman
grown man. So we were curious as.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
To what you like to get hight A no, which
is also fair. And I also don't want to get hit.
There's a reason I worse medium today to try to
match the physique of Isaiah said next to him. Clearly
that hasn't happened. It's awesome to have you guys here
with us this morning. And we'll start to show with
the little Aaron Rodgers as everyone could see, because yeah,
that was the lead news coming out of Pittsburgh during
mini campus signing of quarterback Aaron Rodgers. And that was

(02:36):
back earlier this month. It was a one year deal,
and it turns out this might be the last because
he told tat McAfee that this at this point could
be the last time we see him on a football field.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
Indeed, I'm pretty sure this is it. You know, that's
why we just did a one year deal. Steelers didn't
need to, you know, put in the extra years on
that or anything. So you know, this was really about
finishing with love and fun and peace for the career
that I've I've played twenty freaking years.

Speaker 7 (03:06):
Yeah, it's been a long, long run and I've enjoyed it.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
And what better place to finish than in one of
the cornerstone franchises of the NFL with Mike Tomlin and
a great group of leadership and great guys in the
city that you expects you to win.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
It's kind of crazy when you hear him say a
twenty year career. There's something to be said. And you guys,
know the physicality every single Sunday trying to go and
bring it. But when you hear Aaron Rodgers say, Hey,
last time we're going to see him play would be
this season.

Speaker 6 (03:37):
What resonates the fact that is that what he just said.
He's played twenty years in this league. He's been highly
successful throughout his career. Now, there's been a lot of
turmoil over the past few years, been a lot of storylines,
but the one storyline that you cannot dispute is the
fact that this dude has been a really consistent player
throughout his entire career. We know that he has the
one Lombardi that he that he's able to host right now.
But you knew, you knew it in your heart that

(04:00):
there's no way that Aaron Rodgers was going to leave
his career on a five and two offseason. There's no
way he was going to leave his legacy in that way.
So he again, he goes to an organization that is
world renowned. He goes to organization that's consistently in the playoffs.
He goes to organization that has an amazing leadership in
coach Mike Tomlin, and he gets his guy with the
DK Metcalf allows for him to go out there, have

(04:20):
a true number one and finish the career the way
in which he wants to. Now, whether that ends with Lombardy,
I highly doubt that. However, I know that he wants
to go out by at least with a winning record
and at least having a solid season.

Speaker 8 (04:32):
Yeah, Isaiah, I think, like, what is the expectation of
the Pittsburgh stillers. I know Aaron Rodgers what he has
done historically. He had a bit of a rough two
years in New York. I mean the first year that
doesn't really County wasn't able to show what he had.
But last year really talented offense, a lot of weapons, bring.

Speaker 5 (04:50):
In Devonte Adams as well, but still.

Speaker 8 (04:52):
Was never really able to produce much much points for
much offensive explosion. And here now in Pittsburgh, the offense
isn't stacked. Look at you look at the depth chart,
they're not stacked. And traded away George Fixings down to Dallas.
They're all standing left tackle Dan Moore, he signed a
big contract in Tennessee.

Speaker 5 (05:10):
It's really for me. I don't see Aaron Rodgers really
lighting it up. Ideally.

Speaker 8 (05:15):
I think Mike Tomlin he brought him in because he
trusts him with the ball, so they can take care
of the ball, not turn the ball over. Score points
when you get into the red zone and rely on
the defense.

Speaker 7 (05:25):
Yeah, how I said, plan out.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
He's been following in the footsteps of one of the greats,
and that is Brett Faarv.

Speaker 5 (05:31):
If you watch Brett.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Favre over there the job excuse me with the Green
Bay Packers, absolute legend.

Speaker 5 (05:37):
He leans.

Speaker 9 (05:38):
He goes to the Jets and he does stage Jets.
Way they look. They missed the playoffs. He threw for
twenty two touchdowns twenty two interceptions, third in the division.
Then he says, I'm a Hall of famer.

Speaker 5 (05:47):
I'm forty.

Speaker 6 (05:48):
I cannot go out like this.

Speaker 5 (05:49):
What does he do?

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Joins in Minnesota Vikings takes him to twelve and four.

Speaker 9 (05:54):
NFC North Champs. He revives himself.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
He actually threw for pr at pr at the age
of forty with one hundred and seven passer rating. So
then what happens he goes on. He eventually retires the
same thing with Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 9 (06:08):
He is a great over there, He's a Hall of famer.

Speaker 5 (06:11):
He goes with.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
The Green Bay Packers, he goes to the Jets, does
they's Jets? Way they lose, they missed the playoffs five
and twelve, A lot of little a lot of things
that shows you he was positive though, But it wasn't
that Aaron Rodgers way. He doesn't want to go out
like that, and what does he do? He joins Pittsburgh Steelers.
Will he had the same success that Brett Farv did.
I'm gonna say no, because Brett farr was handing the
ball off to who Adrian Peterson?

Speaker 5 (06:34):
That what they couldn't?

Speaker 9 (06:35):
They had one single high So I think it makes
a difference. I don't see it panning out that well.

Speaker 5 (06:39):
But he is a Hall of Famer.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
How tough is this when you know you're at the
end and you guys are talking about the legacy, you know,
the future Hall of Famer? That's how we introduce Aaron
Rodgers all the time. When you're down the home stretch
to run and you go, hey, this is probably the
last one. What goes through your mind? How difficult is
this for Aaron Rodgers going into what is he's saying
his last season?

Speaker 5 (06:57):
No, it's tough.

Speaker 8 (06:58):
I just finished my twelfth year and it was it
was extremely challenging from a physical standpoint, and mentally too,
just everything that it takes to get prepared to play
on Sunday. It changes, it evolves throughout the years. My
first year, I don't need to stretch, warm up, nothing.

Speaker 5 (07:12):
We just hit the field.

Speaker 8 (07:14):
You guys know, you get to year six seven, it
starts to change and you have more of a routine.
But you get to year twelve and him, you're twenty
coming off of Achilles injury.

Speaker 5 (07:22):
And it's just the process. It's so much there's.

Speaker 8 (07:26):
So much more that goes into the process, so many
hours once you leave the building in order to get
yourself prepared. It's a grind, it's a challenge, and it
plays a part, you know what I mean. So him,
he knows that this is his last season and he's
going all in, full investment.

Speaker 6 (07:38):
But I honestly believe that that might actually help him.
I think that he actually might have an added sense
of urgency. Not to say that Aaron Rodgers needs one, right,
but I think he might need to have an extra
sense of urgency because not only is it his last year,
but he also had had his year taken from him
two years ago. Right, So he understands that this game
as much as we've seen guys get injured. He had
it happen to him, right, So he knows that he

(08:00):
has time that's not on his side, and he knows
that any given play, I can be out for the year.
So his urgency that he's going to have with his
teammates and the way which they approach this training camp
and how they approach the season, I think it's going
to be even more heightened. We're going to might see
the best version of Aaron Rodgers that we've seen, much
like you talked about Brett Farr.

Speaker 9 (08:18):
And I'm not mad at that take.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
The thing about it is, we know he's going into
his last season, right, and so what do you have
to do. You got to corral the locker room behind
wanting to champion you out. And I don't know if
he's had enough time during the offseason because of like
who is going to be the quarterback? I think if
he would have said I want to be a stealer,
I'm going out this way, I think the team in
the organization could have got behind his last hurrah. But

(08:41):
now because it's like we don't know, he took too long.
It seemed like an individual thing and I don't know
if you can get the chemistry behind it so quickly.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
So what does that do inside of a locker room?
I actually want to go back because you made a
point we're trying to bring up with his time with
the Jets was when he signed there. I mean, it
was an entire city galvanizing all about Rogers that are
completely behind him. It was clear his team. This is
Mike Tomlins team. Like I think about the Steelers. That's
their identity, not necessarily Aaron Rodgers. So it is there

(09:11):
those dynamics. How difficult is that for them to navigate?

Speaker 1 (09:14):
I think that is difficult, and it's because of y'all
can talk about it as being a player in the
locker room when you know who the best players are,
you know who the quarterback is, right, and when you
know he's about the team and he puts the team
first and he's coming in because he wants to champion
himself out versus you know, I just want to go
out with a bang. I want to play with you guys.
It's a different order, different field, and now we're professionals.

(09:36):
WHI y'all can speak to it. How does that affect
you guys? As in a locker room and the young guys.

Speaker 8 (09:41):
Yeah, No, I agree with you for sure, And I
think coming from that position specifically, you have to see
and you want to see ultimate buy in. You do
because the quarterback is he's quarterback in the franchise, he's
quarterback in the city, he's bringing the fans, he has
the ball in his hand more than anybody on the field,
and you want to see the ultimate buy in. So

(10:02):
to your point of him missing some time the offseason,
I hope it doesn't, you know, factor in into the
chemistry or lack thereof with his receivers and the time
and getting the cadence down and all those things. It
takes reps no matter how long he's played. The other
guys that's on that team hasn't played twenty years. So
I hope that time miss doesn't affect the Stellers.

Speaker 6 (10:21):
We've talked about it in the past on the show
about how Aaron Rodgers there's never a question whether or
not Aaron Rodgers is going to be prepared, right, we
know Aaron Rodgers is going to be prepared. But I
wanted it from your perspective, right, for somebody who's been
very successful in the league as a office alignment. How
has his non presence affected this team right now? How
would you perceive that as a veteran office alignment? Now?

(10:42):
A quarterback who waited until absolutely mandatory mini camps to
come in, and how does that affect you guys preparation
for training camp?

Speaker 8 (10:49):
Every quarterback is so different. So we had tour to
start the year. We went through with tour throughout the
OTA process, training camp, and.

Speaker 5 (10:58):
Then we lose in week three.

Speaker 8 (11:00):
So Scylar Thompson comes in, Tyler Huntley comes in.

Speaker 5 (11:03):
Their cadence is different.

Speaker 8 (11:04):
The way did they say the.

Speaker 5 (11:06):
Players is different.

Speaker 8 (11:07):
So it's so many small details and nuances that really
affect the game. The first game in Seattle with Scarlett
Thompson is like the center snapping the ball too early,
snapping the ball too late. So we got three or
four false starts in the first two series. All those
small details that people don't really necessarily think about, plays
a huge factor on Sundays. So that time, Miss, I

(11:28):
really hope it don't impact those guys up front, and
it's timing with the receivers, but it's it's for us
to see.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
You know, you played with Drew Brees late. This is
not look They're two different guys, two different leaders, two
different performers, you know, two of the all time great quarterbacks.
To Isaiah's point on how you adjust from an offensive
line perspective, was it different with Drew at the ends?
And I'm just wondering if the Steelers can take something
away from that.

Speaker 5 (11:52):
Not really Drew was.

Speaker 8 (11:54):
He was so consistent with his preparation and the time
that he spent on the field and walked throughs Now
what was different and it didn't impact the offensive line
at all, was Drew wasn't able to throw during the week,
so a lot of people didn't know. Drew would take
his drops and Taysom Hill to throw the ball, Jameis
Winston to throw the ball.

Speaker 5 (12:13):
Drew really didn't throw. Maybe third down, he'll get one
one period of practice, but other than that, he didn't.

Speaker 8 (12:19):
Throw the ball because he was dealing with torn rotator
cub Torrin Laboram. A lot of people don't know Drew
was playing through it all man, He really was.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
Yeah, good context. There a different perspective when you think
back to the end of his career and still the
performances that he was throwing up there. I made reference
to some of the pieces around Rogers. There are some
new weapons there in Pittsburgh, more specifically, a Pro Bowl
wide receiver DK Metcalf. Rogers seems pretty excited to play
with him on my offense.

Speaker 5 (12:44):
You know, there is good leadership.

Speaker 8 (12:46):
You know.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
DK is a lead by example guy, and he's a
big reason that I'm in Pittsburgh as well. Hell yeah,
conversations that we had and just the kind of person
that he is, he's a yeah, and just started here.
You know, I didn't really know Dk at all, and
you know, he's like I work out at six am
every day. I'm like, okay, already, this guy's disciplined.

Speaker 5 (13:06):
This guy has a drive.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
I said, how about eight o'clock, you know, because I
have to drive from Malibu to UCLA.

Speaker 7 (13:13):
He said, yeah, that's fine.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
So he's not just a specimen, but he's a really
solid human being like he is. He is a solid,
solid dude, and he leads by example the way he practices,
you know, and that's I think one of the most
encouraging thing is the room goes, how the top dog goes,
And when DK catches the ball and finishes sixty yards
to the end zone, it makes everybody else want to
do the same thing.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
To be fair, you do need to leave that early
Malibu to Westwoods campus if you don't want to sit
in traffic for a long period of time. But from
a wide receiver perspective, in the AFC, do you look
at DK metcalf in this duo now with Rogers, is
potentially maybe a top five receiver in that conference?

Speaker 7 (13:49):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (13:50):
In the conference?

Speaker 1 (13:50):
Well, you think about the AFC, I mean you contended
with a lot of top dogs. I like Jamar Chase
obviously that tandem over there. You look at Brian Thomas,
I think that Imma driver are going to continue to
connect in the chemistry and he looked over there with
Tyreek hill Into I think they're going to continue to grow.
I really believe Stefon Diggs and Drake May are going

(14:11):
to have something special this year. I truly do. And
you can't forget about Rice still. He's coming back healthy
playing with Patty Mahomes over there. So it's a lot
of different receivers. Yeah, DK, I love DK. How can
you not?

Speaker 7 (14:24):
You know?

Speaker 5 (14:24):
His radius six for what two whatever? You year?

Speaker 7 (14:28):
Two thirty a monster?

Speaker 9 (14:29):
He runs a four three forty, So he's a.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Special specimen without a doubt, but the combination, He's coming
over from Seattle and he had the most d Ball's
attempts I believe in the NFL last year.

Speaker 9 (14:42):
Aaron Rodgers, I don't think his airtime.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
Is not there, so that tandem, I mean, he's not
a bomber, right and so I don't know how they're
going to progress.

Speaker 9 (14:52):
Gino Smith aired the ball out.

Speaker 7 (14:53):
I don't think Aaron Rodgers gonna air.

Speaker 5 (14:55):
It out as well. But I do like DK.

Speaker 9 (14:58):
I don't see him as top five.

Speaker 5 (14:59):
AFC this year.

Speaker 8 (15:00):
Yeah, I see DK as a top five talent through
no doubt.

Speaker 5 (15:04):
Do the production, I don't.

Speaker 8 (15:06):
I don't see him having a top five season in
the in the AFC, the schemes that he's about to
face because of who surrounded him. He's coming from Seattle
where he had Tyler Lockett, Jackson Smith and Jigble, so
it was a lot of other attention going to other
guys here and here in Pittsburgh, he is the focal
point in the passing game, so he's going to see
he's going to see a lot of double covery Jamar Chase,

(15:28):
Tyreek Hill, Jalen Wattle as well. I don't I don't
really see him having a top five production level of
production in the AFC.

Speaker 6 (15:35):
I think there's a chance. And the reason why is
because he because of that, right he is the big
dog on campus. He is the only big name in
the room. Of the rest of the guys that are
really in that room. You know, you're talking about Calvin Assen,
the third of Robert Woods. You know, guys who are
complimentary players. DK's always had a complimentary player who really
have to be respected as like a true number two receiver.

(15:56):
And I think for the first time in his career,
he's gonna have somebody. He's not gonna have anybody in
that room with him right so yet, now that might
work against him in terms of having coverage world women,
things of that nature, But I believe that I don't
believe that they're going to bring him into this team,
into this organization with this quarterback and not feed him
the ball. When you start looking at some of the
top receivers in this league. You brought up Jamar Chase,
you brought up Tyreek Hill, some of those guys. But

(16:17):
then after you get through the first three or four names,
it starts getting it starts dwindling down in terms of
top dogs. Most of the big time receivers in this league,
no disrespect to other guys, are in the NFC, right,
so I believe that there's a chance for them. Now,
will he get the opportunities in this type of scheme.
We know Pittsburgh historically has always been a run first
type of team, so that might impact him. But I

(16:37):
truly believe that if you bring a DK in and
you let a Pickins go, you're going to give him
the rock and give it an opportunity to impact your
game daily.

Speaker 5 (16:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
I love that last point too, because you do think
about what this team is traditionally run, especially with Arthur
Smith now as our offensive coordinator, We're not necessarily worrying
about some of those deep shots for Shy that you
made reference to. It's a whole lot of heavy run.
So how that balance unfolds during the season is something
no doubt we are going to be track of it.
We're just getting started, hear on Good Morning Football. Coming
off we got one of Metcalf's former teammates in Seattle

(17:05):
who spent a ton of time last season with the
Bears and down chasing quarterbacks in the AFC. South Texans
defensive end, Darryl Taylor is going to be joining us.

Speaker 6 (17:13):
Isaiah, Yeah, buddy. And but first it's Wednesday, so we're
breaking out the white boards with our running backs Rashad
in the house. We're going to discuss the best running
back duels in the league right now, plus some wild
sports moments.

Speaker 5 (17:26):
Stay with us.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
Good morning, Time for a round of whiteboard Wednesday. Kick
things off with the running back position down or of course,
Rashad being here, the best one two punch running combos,
running duos in the NFL. You know this position better
than anyone here at the desk. So if I said
to you, give me that that one two punch in
the NFL, that's just head and shoulders better than everywhere

(18:00):
else everyone else.

Speaker 6 (18:01):
Where are we going?

Speaker 5 (18:01):
Oh? We revealed? How do we reveal this? Which way
we go?

Speaker 1 (18:04):
You're looking the sele there it is right there, ladies
and gentlemen. We're going over there with the Chargers. This
duo right here with Najie Harris. Oh, I'm telling you
they rocking this season. And Omrion Hampton coming out of
North Carolina University and the reason why I'm high on
these two. You got to think about Harris's right now
fighting to be one of the only running backs ever

(18:25):
in the NFL history that had five consecutive one thousand
rushing yards since his rookie season. And that puts him
in conversation with Eric Dickerson, Barry Sanders and Miss Smith
and don't forget Ladani and Thomas and we know who
he did it with with the Chargers. So I have
to put him in there because of the run, physical
defense and o Marion Hampton. I had the privilege to

(18:45):
actually do college football ESPN Radio last year.

Speaker 6 (18:48):
I would travel.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
Around the country to the top games, and I championed
him as one of the best running backs behind Ashton Genty.
No doubt this guy is a difference maker, and that's
the reason why I truly believe they're not going to
re sign Nase after this year.

Speaker 5 (19:04):
So right this year, these two.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
I love that. I had North Carolina a couple times
during the season as well, and Hampton was that team's
offensive at always some similarities with how he touched the
rock Lake Harris too. I mean, big bruiser guys. They're
like Hampton's like like a freight train out there. You
don't want to create contact with him. I love that
call to run. Who do you got?

Speaker 8 (19:25):
It pains me to show this, but shout out to
my guy, Aaron Glenn, so I'm.

Speaker 5 (19:30):
Must go with the Jets.

Speaker 8 (19:31):
Okay, Breese Hall, Breylan Allen. It's a it's a response
here from Breeze Hall. We saw the explosion early in
his career and he was dereled by injury. I think
it's this year he takes off and he shows for
him he's a top five running back in the league
this year. I think with Justin Feels over there as well,
we get more of the dynamic of that added element.

Speaker 5 (19:53):
You have to worry about the quarterbacks.

Speaker 8 (19:54):
So a lot of rbos as we see with Lamar
Jackson and Derreck Henry and those guys. It's a lot
of discipline that takes place that needs to be for
defense to stop the running quarterback.

Speaker 5 (20:05):
And you got these weapons like Brees Hall and Braylen Allen.

Speaker 8 (20:08):
Braylan Allen and the shortyardist.

Speaker 5 (20:10):
Game, Goald line game.

Speaker 8 (20:12):
He's a bruiser six one forty, big powerful back. I
really think this one two punch is the top of
the league.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
You're surprised that the Jets went away from Haul late
in the season. Last year because it felt like he
was a lot of the offense earlier in the campaign,
and yet when they trade DeVante Adams, it was almost
like double downing on Aaron Rodgers in that passing game.

Speaker 8 (20:32):
It was exactly that, exactly that they put the ball
in Aaron Rodgers's hand, let him dictate and orchestrate everything
with DeVante Adams coming over.

Speaker 5 (20:39):
Gary Wilson too.

Speaker 8 (20:40):
I mean they have they had extreme weapons on the outside,
so I understand, but I think brees Hall is the
focal point of his offense. In order for the Jets
to be successful, to be productive on offense, it has
to go through brees Hall.

Speaker 2 (20:51):
Yeah, two duos down, and I'm almost shocked that in
here the one that I first came to mind.

Speaker 6 (20:55):
Listen, now, I know I respect you guys's answers.

Speaker 5 (20:58):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 6 (20:59):
You know, I got my studious glasses on the day,
and the reason why I have these on to day
because I'm the only one that has the right answer.
My answer is Sonic and Knuckles two eighty seven yards.

Speaker 5 (21:08):
That's right.

Speaker 6 (21:09):
If you don't know who Sonic and Knuckles is, that's
them boys down there in d Troit. The Jamier Gibbs
and David Montgomery. This is the only real answer. These
dudes are the nastiest one two punch in the league.
You start talking about ham Burger, peanut butter genty. These
guys are the one two that you have to be
concerned about. When Barry Sanders comes out and says, these
guys are real, this is the nastiest duel in the league.

(21:32):
You might want to believe them. You got a power back.
You have an explosive back that has crazy speed, that
is shifty as all get out. You talk about playing
Madden the other day. They're hitting all the joysticks.

Speaker 5 (21:41):
All right.

Speaker 6 (21:42):
It doesn't matter who you are. You don't want to
see these guys. It doesn't matter when one comes in,
one subs out. The defense has problems. That's all it's
all about.

Speaker 2 (21:49):
Yeah, I said this to you in our makeup room
this morning, and I go, I know it doesn't count,
and it's not in the spirit of what the answer
should be. Lamar and Derrick Henry, that's the best two
one two. But once again, we're not We're not necessarily
thinking running backs that are that are out there.

Speaker 7 (22:03):
All right.

Speaker 2 (22:03):
We go from a offense to a little defense. Your
annual Sack Summit. It brings together the NFL's top pass
rushers to work on their skills, their techniques, and of
course a little bit of that knowledge what's going on
underneath that helmet. So which player comes to mind when
you hear the term sack master I see everyone feverishly
writing down on their white board and it looks like
a shut Since you have your answer first, I will

(22:25):
let you unveil who you like as the cream of
the crop.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
Yeah, when we talk about sack mastery in the league today,
I'm gonna have to go with CJ.

Speaker 9 (22:35):
I'm gonna have to go with TJ.

Speaker 1 (22:37):
Wide and Miles Garrett is a very close number.

Speaker 9 (22:40):
Two, but a crossover, Yeah, the AI cross over.

Speaker 5 (22:44):
It one of the same.

Speaker 1 (22:45):
But I have to give him the tip because of
his force fumbles is thirty three.

Speaker 9 (22:49):
Force fumbles is thirty three.

Speaker 1 (22:50):
It's in the same Now, Miles Garrett has twenties right
behind him.

Speaker 9 (22:53):
But when you look at forced fumbles, ant.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
For the ball, attacking the ball, he's over there, Pittsburgh Steelers,
and that is he is the staple of that defense.
He is the Pittsburgh Stillers defense. Without him, it changes everything.
And I think he's a special player. He's a motor,
NonStop guy. But I'll be interested in what our offense
lineman would say who it is, but I would have

(23:16):
to leave it towards CJ.

Speaker 5 (23:17):
Listen.

Speaker 8 (23:18):
I definitely respect your pick for sure. I think the
force fumbles is the component that makes TJ sex uper impressive.
I'm going right here the man since he paid the man.
It's a former teammate of mine. I hated him in practice.
He practices so hard. Like everything that you see from

(23:40):
this guy in game, that's that's how he prepares. He's
relentless his pursuit, his intent, his intensity. He's going to
talk to you crazy. He's the sack Master.

Speaker 6 (23:50):
And the reason why I give him the nod over over.

Speaker 8 (23:53):
Some of the top others is because he didn't come
out the gate as the starter.

Speaker 5 (23:57):
He had to work his way up.

Speaker 8 (23:58):
He had to go through Cam Jordan's Marcus Davenport in
order to get on the field. So in limited times
and limited starts, he's right at that mark.

Speaker 5 (24:08):
With those guys.

Speaker 8 (24:09):
As far as sack totals, he's consistent fifteen plus a year.

Speaker 5 (24:12):
Sure, sack master, Right, that's good.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
It's a pretty good one.

Speaker 5 (24:16):
I respect it.

Speaker 6 (24:17):
I respect it easy to Those guys are really good players,
really good players.

Speaker 5 (24:20):
But you know what, those guys are humans.

Speaker 7 (24:22):
You know.

Speaker 6 (24:22):
The only non human on his list Miles Garrett. Miles
Garrett is the only non human. You guys, see it right,
They're not human. This dude is a physical specimen. I know.
To you arm you probably can say something about him too.
This is the only guy that you line up against.
You're like, you know what. I don't want to speak
for you, but you would say, ooh, I got a
problem on my hands. In terms of physically handling this dude.

(24:43):
It's not only the speed, it's not only his power,
but it's just peer size determination. There is a will
that he has that he enforces upon his opponents. When
he steps to the line of scrimmage. You have to
make business decisions. It's not just about what he can do.
It's about his speed rush or about his you know,
his his bull rush. This dude can physically pick up
anybody that he's going against. When you have to face

(25:05):
that as an offensive lineman, I would imagine tear army.

Speaker 5 (25:07):
You could back me up.

Speaker 6 (25:08):
I would imagine that there's a little, little little person
in the back.

Speaker 9 (25:11):
Of your head.

Speaker 6 (25:11):
It's like, you better get your mind right, because this
dude canna do harmsow.

Speaker 5 (25:15):
That's the fact.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
What you know, Crosby is not in this conversation. I mean,
we talked about relentless motors. I'm almost surprised his name
is didn't pop up for you guys.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
Yeah, I mean it's it's because you got to only
pick one that he's in the conversation.

Speaker 6 (25:27):
In the conversation out Yeah, Miles Garrett, I mean, moles
gre has one hundred and two and a half sacks
in his career is one two and he just got
a new contract. He's still going, he's not slowing down.
We're not talking somebody talking about somebody at the end
of their career. We're talking about somebody who's just ramming
up and they just got him some help.

Speaker 5 (25:45):
Right.

Speaker 6 (25:45):
So you talk about, you know, young guns now that
he can coach up this defensive line is a problem
and he's not the only person that you have to
be concerned about. Now, So now what does that do
in terms of freeing him up for more opportunities?

Speaker 5 (25:55):
I agree, I agree, I think Trey.

Speaker 8 (25:57):
I'll go with Trey because not only is his production
and what he's able to do. But the Cincinnati Bingle
was offense. So they're playing with Leeds. Teams have to
pass the ball a lot more. He get a lot
more opportunities to rush. Can't say the same thing from Ales.
Gary's gonna be a lot of run game. First, you
got to earn those third downs.

Speaker 5 (26:13):
Yeah, it's true.

Speaker 2 (26:14):
I want to go off menu here because twenty eight
years ago this week, Iron Mike took an ear full
grabbing that ear Amander Holyfield third round of a heavyweight match.
This is one of those iconic sports moments, one of
those things that you'll say, I'll never forget when I
watched this go down. So I ask you, guys and Isaiah,

(26:34):
I will let you kick off here. What's that one
sports moment that you watched and you said, you know what,
I will never forget this happening.

Speaker 6 (26:43):
It has to be NBA Finals, Michael Jordan and the
Chicago Bulls facing the Utah Jazz and the games down
to the last eight seconds. This is to win his
six championship. Mj comes down to court, he's dribbling, he's driven.
Birol Russell's right in front of him, and you know what,
ends up happening. Yeah, MJ twenty three happens. His dude

(27:04):
goes up there, his him with the crossover, throws them by,
whether it's a foul or not, whatever it is, and
then goes up there, hits the jump shot and leaves
it up there like love in basketball for as long
as you want to, all the way to commercial.

Speaker 5 (27:17):
That was the prime.

Speaker 6 (27:18):
Time play for me as a young athlete, regardless of
the sport, watching somebody in their prime doing what they do,
Watching the guy that is the best on the court,
best in the game, best in the history, show up
when his team needed him most and there was no
lack of confidence. That was the biggest moment for me.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
When the goat delivers in that type of moment on
the biggest stage. Yeah, it's hard to forget that.

Speaker 6 (27:43):
What do you got a.

Speaker 8 (27:45):
Little bit of recency bias here? Maybe maybe, but.

Speaker 6 (27:50):
Oh oh yeah.

Speaker 5 (27:51):
Actually I was.

Speaker 8 (27:52):
Watching his game live and it was just yeah, it's incredible.
I was speechless, speechless to have the wherewithal the to
have the guts and the ability to pull this off
the one span, the second mad spin, to have the
ability to elevate and I'm still I'm still.

Speaker 1 (28:17):
It's crazy, but that was all reaction. That was just
all reactions as a runner. You can't plan for this.
You go out the training field, you got the.

Speaker 9 (28:24):
Cone set up.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
Nobody is setting up a cone where you spin hurdle backwards, backwards,
butt first.

Speaker 5 (28:31):
It doesn't happen.

Speaker 6 (28:32):
The question is what buttons do you have to hit
and hadden this year right to make that happen. That's
the question.

Speaker 5 (28:40):
Hit that a circuit and circle?

Speaker 2 (28:43):
Would that have ever crossed your mind? Like did you
even think about envision doing something like that?

Speaker 1 (28:48):
No, Like that's such a it's such a perfect time.
You have to you have to have your foot in
the right position, angle everything to even start to think.

Speaker 5 (28:55):
That way, you know what I mean? And then the
ability to do it, and.

Speaker 9 (28:58):
This is that is not a natural move man. So
I don't know where that came from.

Speaker 6 (29:03):
Man, whatever, it's a sin to turn your back to
the defense. Yeah, you ain't doing you don't turn your
back to the defense as a as a ball carrier,
right because you know and then decided to jump, turn
your back right, hit him with the and then turn
your back and it's like you know what, Yeah, I'm
going to you put him on a non human list,
too human list.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
That's going to be a segment for later, not not
human list, Top five. All right, what's your moment?

Speaker 7 (29:28):
Oh my moment?

Speaker 1 (29:29):
It was something I was a part of, and that
was an ob j one handed catch Matt Life Stadium,
Prime Time Football against the Dallas Cowboys and on the air,
look at that. This was insane. I was in the
stadium when this happened in the air that came out
of the stadium. Not only initial catch because it just

(29:50):
happened so fast.

Speaker 6 (29:51):
It was when we watched it on a.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
Big Joemost screen and it was a replay. Was he
in bounds, out of bounds and he came down.

Speaker 9 (29:59):
He caught it with three fingers, maybe two and a half.

Speaker 1 (30:02):
Two and a half fingers, came down with the ball.
I've never seen anything like that. But because of how
he practiced, because of how he trained, and what we
saw from him outside of the cameras.

Speaker 5 (30:12):
Were surprised.

Speaker 6 (30:12):
We weren't surprised at all.

Speaker 8 (30:14):
Dude specially, I can attest to that for sure. We
were teammates this year in Miami and just as a
catcher of the football.

Speaker 6 (30:21):
Different, got it, It's different, Yeah, give it different brazy.

Speaker 2 (30:26):
I think these are all great moments. When I saw
the question, I just started thinking, Hey, like, what are
those things that happened? You've referenced MJ like I was
a kid for that. That certainly comes to my The
first buzzer beater that I saw in the NCAA tournament
tis atny UCLA going coast to coast Like that comes
to mind. OBJ was on my list. I should have
had Saquon there as well. But how we don't talk
about one of the biggest catches that we have ever

(30:48):
seen in a Super Bowl? And I'm almost surprised you
didn't go there because.

Speaker 5 (30:52):
You used to rock that year.

Speaker 2 (30:53):
Yeah, David Tyree, how are we not talking about that?
And if I'm not saying that might have even been
a third down? I think they completed two third downs
on that drive. It was thirty five and a third eleven,
culminating obviously into a Super Bowl title for a team
that was an underdog. Oh, here it is. I was wondering.
I was like, can I get some of the some
of this action? Eli Manning looking like Patrick Mahomes out
there scrambling.

Speaker 6 (31:13):
Ready to rock and roll.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
That ain't Patrick Mahomes but the point is to have
the wherewithal. I know it's not OBJ with the handback
of the one handed grab, but the desperate moment out
on that football field, knowing like you gotta make this completion,
the fact that that wasn't there on that list.

Speaker 1 (31:31):
Come on, guys, respect, respect Yea, the OBJ though, man,
I'm telling you. And the craziest thing about this, y'all know,
there's been in the locker room. I watched him become
an overnight celebrity in the locker room. You know you
were fresh right beside each other, locker side, ea J
like six hundred thousand, go out to the meetings, come
back one point two million, go out again to practice,
come back three million. Became overnight sensational celebrity because of

(31:53):
that catch, and he deserved. He's a phenomenal player. I wanted,
matter of fact, come on back to New York, Objo.
We say you're around.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
Yeah, by the way, and there was a competition between
him and Garrett Well from that one catch that we
saw like almost like Jordan esque in the back of
the end zone. But this is a good whiteboard. Wednesday,
we got more GMFB.

Speaker 8 (32:12):
Snap let us looking left stands in the pocket.

Speaker 5 (32:15):
He slips the.

Speaker 2 (32:16):
Tackle running left and then finally brought down rum behind,
gabbled up by Taylor, snap his back pressure coming, Taylor.

Speaker 5 (32:22):
Get the from behind ballers out.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
Taylor was able to chase him down. Yeah, just got
out of his way. You saw our next guest open
up last season, all up in the Titans grill. This
year he is rocking a Houston Texans uniform. Their defensive
end Daryl Taylor joins us right now on Good Morning Football. Zarah,
awesome to have you with us. You signed with the
Houston Texans. I couldn't help but notice on your ig

(32:46):
account you got the intense workout, the dramatic music well produced,
but you had the caption that said it's personal this year.
Explain to me why it is personal this year?

Speaker 10 (32:56):
Man, It's personal this year because you know, I feel
like I left a lot on table in Chicago and
in a great place where you know, the offense is
just you know, are going to do that thing, and
you know we have a great coaching staff to you know,
be able to put me in position and be able
to help our defense out this year and you know,
make a lot of plays.

Speaker 7 (33:12):
So I'm excited about that.

Speaker 10 (33:13):
So that's the reason that you know, I feel like I'm,
you know, playing with much of a chip on my
shoulder than I ever played with. So I'm just excited
to be there and excited to offer what I got.
You know what I'm saying my skill level to the
Houston Texas.

Speaker 1 (33:24):
Man, Well, a lot of teams ain't gonna be excited
to find out that you got a chip, I'll tell
you that with the Texas defense. But the Texans are
looking to make the third consecutive Playoff appearance. Now, they've
never done that before in their history. How would you
guys do it this year?

Speaker 7 (33:40):
I think it's just about the time.

Speaker 10 (33:41):
You know, the time we put in right now, you know, training,
working out, you know, getting to know each other and everything.
You know, we was just in Ota, so you know
that time pays off. And just being able to you know,
connect with one one another and building that brotherhood.

Speaker 7 (33:55):
It's going to show on the field, you know.

Speaker 10 (33:56):
So anytime you you close with your teammates and everything
like that is going to show on the field every time.
And that's what we're excited about, man, to be able
to put what we got on the field and let
everybody see what we're going to do this shit.

Speaker 6 (34:07):
All right, DT, you got to ask you about your
QB man, somebody who went through a lot last year,
losing every single one of his top three receivers at
some point in time, and it probably doesn't get enough credit,
but I want to know from your stance, what has
impressed you most about CJ.

Speaker 7 (34:19):
Strout Man. Just a really good quarterback man.

Speaker 10 (34:22):
You know, he's very patient and reading, you know, all
his progressions and everything like that. Man, we see it
in practice, you know, just being able to him making
plays and stuff like that, and we're like, all right
now now we got to tight night stuff up because
we're making players on us so he can't make us
look bad. So just seeing him, you know, progress through that.
And it's only the.

Speaker 7 (34:40):
Year two, year.

Speaker 5 (34:40):
Three for him.

Speaker 7 (34:41):
So it's exciting to see, man. And I'm just.

Speaker 10 (34:44):
Happy to be here to be a part of something
very special to ship.

Speaker 5 (34:48):
DT.

Speaker 8 (34:48):
I see you, I see you are heavily involved in
the community, giving back to the communities. There's truly a
gift and h it's really a passion of mine for sure.
You're doing amazing things with your fifty two Sundays initiative.

Speaker 10 (35:00):
Tell us more about it, man. So it's something that
me and my manager came up with. Man recently, I
was dating this girl and you know, she passed away.
You know, it was really sudden for me. So you know,
I was dating her for like two years, and you know,
when it happened, it really changed. It gave me a
lot of perspective on a lot of things that was
going on in my life. So, you know, giving back

(35:22):
to the community was something that really just hit me.
And you know, I was in Arizona just hanging around
training and stuff like that, and then I just started.
I said, Man, I want to do something to give back,
and I don't want to stop it until you know,
obviously I'm not here anymore. So I told my manager,
I said, man, let's figure out something that we can do.
You know that, uh it's going to you know, the

(35:44):
world that the world can see. Really So we came
up with fifty two Sundays. It's already fifty two Sundays
in the year. You know, my number is fifty two
and we play on Sundays. So I felt like it
was just the perfect time to be able to give
back to the community. And I hadn't seen anybody doing it.
You know, I'm on social media heavily. I hadn't seen
anybody doing anything like that. So and uh, you know,
I I reached I told my manager what I wanted

(36:06):
to do. He was, I mean, this is a great idea,
and then we both like talked a lot, and then
we came up with the idea of fifty two Sundays.
And that's pretty much just giving back to the community
where it's whether it's kids, whether it's homeless people, you know,
elderly people, anything like that. You know, we're all in
and hands on with that stuff. So we're just happy
to be here and be able to get back community
because we're very blessed, and you know, that's what God

(36:26):
want us to do, and that's you know, I'm very
heavy in my faith, so I feel like this is
something that God put on my heart for a long time,
and I just feel like this was the opportunity to
just take it, you know, to the next level.

Speaker 6 (36:36):
And how do we support that?

Speaker 1 (36:37):
How do people find you and support what you're doing
fifty two Sundays.

Speaker 10 (36:41):
Right now, I'm in the process of coming up creating
my own nonprofit with that, so probably in about maybe
a couple of months. Like, I have a team that's
you know, working on that so that I can be
able to have people donate money, so we can be
able to create better events and you know, be able
to give more to the community. So once I get
that on and pop it and everything is wrong, how

(37:02):
I want to speak, man, There's no limits to how
people can help us and how much we can get
back to the community.

Speaker 2 (37:09):
Love that using your platform too for a positive cause
as well. But I know you know some of the
struggles that you've dealt with, you've spoken publicly about that.
I want to take us everyone back to twenty twenty three.
I think I know the reason why, but I think
it's important for you to share the actual reason. But
you had like hot pink hair, which automatically is going
to gravitate a lot of attention your way. Once again,

(37:31):
the color pink pretty significant, But can you just explain
why you decided to go in that direction?

Speaker 10 (37:37):
Definitely, man, So I want to do some big and
spontaneous for my mom. So my mom passed away to
breast cancer twenty thirteen May second, twenty thirteen, when I
was fifteen sixteen years old, so you know that, you know,
that shaped a lot of the rest of my life
through college and everything.

Speaker 7 (37:54):
So you know, it was.

Speaker 10 (37:56):
I've never done anything like that up until that point,
you know, really big or special for my mom as
far as breast cancer goes, so that people can see,
you know that I really represented. So when I came
up with that idea, it was really random and I
just said, man, I'm gonna do some big this hit like,
you know, I didn't know what was what was gonna
happen with the season with Seattle. So I was like, man,

(38:16):
I know that all I can do is, you know,
pray to God and go out there and put everything
that I got.

Speaker 7 (38:21):
On the field.

Speaker 10 (38:22):
So I did that, and then I came up with
that idea because my mom when she passed away, you know,
it was it was really tough on me. So you know,
that was a way for me to express, you know,
how I feel about my mother as far as supporting
her and everything that we went through together during that
you know what I'm saying, during that time when I
was a kid, so man, it was it was everything

(38:43):
for me to be able to see that you know,
people supported it and everything and even you know, the Seahawks.
You know, they pushed it out and put it all
in the media for me as much as they could
possibly do, and that was like, that was everything. So
that year meant a lot to me, you know, just
being able to do that for her and being able
to showcase, you know what I'm saying, how much I
love my mom.

Speaker 1 (39:00):
Right man, Well, appreciate your time and wrapping it up,
tell us why everybody should be excited about to Texas
this season. Man, y'all should be excited about the little
Texans because we will put points on that board.

Speaker 7 (39:10):
We will get people.

Speaker 2 (39:11):
Real plenty of pieces on both sides of the football.
Darryl Dude, you rock man. Honestly amazing watching you out
on the football field. But to hear what you're doing
fifty two Sundays, not to mention with breast cancer awareness,
I think all of us appreciate the mission and can't
wait to see you out on the football field more
importantly healthy. Thanks again for joining us. All right, yeah,

(39:35):
we got more GMFB still to come. Goodall, Thank care all,
Good morning football. The Browns with a major quarterback battle
on their hands. Four guys buying for three roster spots

(39:57):
who will become the starter in week number one. New
Cleveland wide receiver Deontay Johnson recently went on the Sports
and Suits pod cast and gave his early prediction.

Speaker 7 (40:06):
I mean, then they don't row.

Speaker 11 (40:08):
With Kenny for right now.

Speaker 8 (40:09):
So you just had rookie munie camp right doing with
them and did all that stuff.

Speaker 11 (40:13):
Who looks saying Kenny going on like right now with
the Ones, and then Joe would come in. I think
they're probably gonna row with him, just like to see,
like just coming off the season he was with Philly
right right and having the Super Bowl, so I really see.
I think they don't stick with him through pre season
and then you know they can live with Joe coming
brands at the table.

Speaker 2 (40:33):
Yeah, rookie conversation somewhere. I know we do that here
on GMFB. And yesterday, Vikings running back Aaron Jones held
the first of three camps in conjunction with flex Work
Sports for Kids that will take him from Minneapolis to
South Dakota and wisconsinant you could check out this great
moment from one of the campers from his Minnieapolis camp,
