Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
We're going to do a temperature check on one of
the divisions in the NFL. We have one of the
owners from a team in the AFC South. We're very
busy on Good Morning Football presented by Old Trapper, Beat
Jurkey this hour, It's Wednesday, October eighth. Jamie or a
Almantiteo sit here in La Mike Gerrifolo and Kyle Brandt
in New York.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Kyle, did I miss anything coming up this hour? Do
I feel like I got the lay of the land.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
There's so many things you must have somehow. It's an
all encompassing tapestry of football, content, entertainment. And we are
a by coastal Los Angeles, New York City. This is
what we bring to you, right, Mike Carefolo, Yes, good
morning and Comma football. I love you, Thank you.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Welcome to Good Morning Football Presented by Old Trapper. How
do I feel like when Kyle Brandt just asked Mike
G Right, Mike G. He's like one of those dolls
where you pulled the string on the back and he just.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
Goes, yes, Yeah, I just told him I went full
Ed McMahon, there, you are corrector is Phil Hartman as
Ed McMahon, Dana Carvey as Johnny Carson?

Speaker 1 (01:19):
You are correct sir. Yes, that's why Mike's here.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Whatever you say, it must be the truth.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
That's how we feel about the insiders this morning, especially
when some business and some.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
News goes down in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
You and rap a poor welcome inside our NFL network
insider that's assigned to us today because Mike chi is
putting on his GMFB hat rap sheet.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
What's going on with the.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Quarterback shuffle that happened yesterday in the AFC North.

Speaker 5 (01:42):
A rare intra division trade, a somewhat major quarterback trade
in the middle of the season, which never never happens.
Rarely do as a team acquire a starting quarterback in
the trade midway through the season. That's what happened yesterday.
The Bengals and Browns swung a trade. Joe Flacca, who
has been the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns for

(02:03):
most of the season for giving way to Dylan Gabriel
last week, was traded to a division rival, the Cincinnati Bengals.
There you see it right there, Flacco's name is going
on the jersey. That makes it really real. As far
as the details of the trade, it's Flacco and a
sixth rounder for a fifth rounder going to the Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
They now continue to load up on picks. Obviously the
future is so.

Speaker 5 (02:24):
Important for Cleveland and future of the quarterback position extremely important.
They may need those picks to do a trade later,
collecting picks for a quarterback who was either going to
be the two or the three. So for the Cleveland Browns,
certainly it makes sense also unload one point eight million
dollars of salary or the pro rated version for Flacco.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
For the Bengals, they have.

Speaker 5 (02:44):
Been looking for a starting quarterback ever since the game,
clear that Jake Browning is an excellent backup for them,
but maybe not the starting quarterback to lead them into
the playoffs or at least keep them alive until Joe
Burrow returns from that turf toe surgery. So Flacca, who
has done it for a couple other teams, the AFC North,
who did lead the Grounds to the playoffs and a
kind of similar fashion a couple of years ago, he

(03:06):
now becomes the guy QB one for the Bengals. Wouldn't
be surprised to be played this week. He is a
quick study, a shakeup at the quarterback position.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Indeed, Jamie, I always love when turnarounds like this happened
because there is such fascination between how does a guy
like that get ready as quickly as you possibly can?
But we will watch it unfold and I'm sure there'll
be a micd up segment and it'll get posted, and
if they win, it'll be epic and celebratory. Thanks rapsheet,
talk to you a little bit. Until then, Time for
three and out. We have a lot of topics to
get through here. As the NFL executive once told Kyle Brand,

(03:37):
his favorite segment on GMFP is the beginning of the
last hour on a Thursday. First Down, Joe Flacco is
the Bengals new quarterback. You just heard the details. The
Browns now have Dylan Gabriel and Shador Sanders left on
their depth chart. The Steelers are three and one and
the Ravens are one and four. AFC North Gut check time, MANSI,
how are you feeling about this division?

Speaker 6 (03:57):
Would it be weird to say that the Cleveland Browns
are looking pretty good after the preseason and the offseason
that we just had or reach us talking about the
draft and why would you drop this guy?

Speaker 1 (04:07):
And why would you do that?

Speaker 6 (04:08):
The quarterback room would be Would it be so far
out there to say that the quarterback room in Cleveland
is a lot better than some of the other teams
in that division. Like if you were to look at
the Baltimore Ravens, there's already conversations about Cooper rush with
Lamar Jackson being out, whereas Cleveland, you already know who
your starter is going to be. You already know who
your backup's going to be. The forecast is pretty clear.

(04:28):
And then if you look at the defensive side of
the football, there's a lot of talk about Pittsburgh and
that pass rush. Well, the pass rush as the most
dominant is the Cleveland Browns and Miles Garrett and all
those gangs over there. And the defense for the Cleveland
Browns is the best defense not only in that division,
but also in the entire NFL. And then you have
a rookie running back in quin Shawn Judkins. Who it

(04:49):
isn't It isn't Ashon Genty who's the leading rusher for
all rookies, it's Quinn John Judkins. So when I'm looking
at the AFC North, I think it's pretty impressive.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
Yes, I know they're one and four, but if I look.

Speaker 6 (05:02):
At the totality of this entire picture, I'm very optimistic
about what is going on over there in Cleveland because
it seems like after having the offseason that we talked about,
all the drama, why would they drop this guy, why would.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
They sign this guy? What are they going to look like?

Speaker 6 (05:16):
I think the picture is a lot clearer for the
Cleveland Browns than the other three teams in that division.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
Keep those standings up there, Please control room, because you
can do the math on this. Two out in the
win column, three out in the loft column. The Baltimore
Ravens are two and a half.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Games out of first place.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
They are also more than touchdown dogs at home to
the Rams this week. The Steelers are five and a
half five and a half point favorites against the Browns
two and a half plus one. If everything goes, that's
three and a half games out of first place in
the AFC North. I understand the injuries. I understand all that.
You have the conversations with people down there in Baltimore

(05:54):
right now, and they're like We're fine. It's all good
s early. Got a bye week coming up. People are
gonna get healthy. Peep the schedule after the bye week,
and I have peeped the schedule after bye week. It
is Bears, Dolphins, Vikings, Browns, Jets, bangled winnable games, sure,
winnable games, but I'm like giving them the Larry David curb,
Are you really do?

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Really? Not sweating?

Speaker 4 (06:14):
Is really big perspiration on your far ahead there?

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Because I don't believe it.

Speaker 4 (06:19):
I believe that there's a little bit of a worry
down there in Baltimore. I mean, you're digging yourself potentially
a huge hole here that you potentially cannot get out of.
The Baltimore Ravens, to me are the team that I'm
watching here. I can see them making the playoffs. I
just feel like this is just too big a hole, too.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Early before we go any further, the toll of the
ongoing NFL season. Not to mention waking up at one
in the morning there in La Jamie. You do realize
that it's Wednesday today, right? Is not Thursday? For those
who might be confused about that, how many times.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
Did I say throw it on Thursday?

Speaker 1 (06:48):
Just the one time, it felt like fifteen. And every
time you said, I'm like, yep, yep. Third on Thursday,
I was with you. I think it's Thursday. I still
think it's Thursday. Is it much.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
I'm gonna tell you something just now, and I feel
like this is a good time to tell you I'm
actually off on Friday, so it's Thursday Thursday.

Speaker 7 (07:06):
Oh no, that's right.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
That's the way that you were informed.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Every time I say the day of the week, I
oftentimes is I get in your listed it's the wrong
day of the week.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
And that is why my point was just proven.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
So my mistake to the NFL executive who loves her
it on Thursday. It's coming about twenty four hours from now.
We'll get your back. This one's called three and out.
It's one of the worst parts of football if you
do go three and out. And that's how I feel
right now about mislabeling the day of the week.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
Kyle, do you have a stands.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
On the AFC North Yeah, of course. Listen, it's a
long season, Jamie. We're right here in the middle of
November and it's we're all feeling it. I totally get it.
By the way, is there anything worse than a coworker
who says to you, well, today's my Friday, and it's
Thursday or Wednesday. It's the same one who goes on
a long vacation and comes back and they say, I
need a vacation from my vacation. Like we've been here, Jamie,

(07:55):
I'm glad you have the day off, though you've burned it.
Cast no stones against you, and I hope you have
several of them. My team that's most interesting in the
empty North, the team that is just winning the North.
The Steelers are not spoken of. They're just off a buy.
They're three and one, which guys in that division with
those quarterbacks is nine to one. It's just casually. Aaron
Rodgers is going to go right to the playoffs, like
I said all preseason that the Steelers will do. Will

(08:17):
they lose in the wildcard round? Probably? But who cares?
They are winning it right now. Everything's working, there's no discord,
there's no fighting. They're ride receivers and the quarterbacks get
along fine. Three and one. If that was on the
table before the season, every single Steelers fan would have
taken it. And everything's are going swimming. Least so I know,
it's not that interesting, but it is very successful so far,

(08:37):
and that shot is absolute cinema. Jamie.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Well, since we're two thirds of the way through the
season and it's December, first time now for the second
part of Throwdown Thursday, no second down threeing out. It's
a Wednesday, everybody. We are one third of the way
through the season. Yet we're all losing our minds together again,
We're going to do a little check in we're doing.
I had to check in out myself. I feel like
where we are in the middle of the week, is
there a moment, a storyline, a game that has stuck

(09:03):
with you guys through the first part of this season?

Speaker 3 (09:06):
Kyle?

Speaker 2 (09:06):
What I can see? Do you understand Kyle that I
can see.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
Over my remailer? Jamie? How many thirds of the season
are we through?

Speaker 3 (09:16):
Just the first one?

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Right? What that is? Right? I thought she did that
on purpose? I did it? What on purpose? Mike? You
said two thirds? I said two? And I said it
was there was a pizza that was the season or
only one third? Not two? Today is Monday, it's December.
It's two thousand and five. Let's get everything right, okay, guys.
Pizza by thirty if it makes a piece. Now, peace signed?

(09:39):
Can we have peace on this show?

Speaker 3 (09:41):
Kidney where it hurts?

Speaker 2 (09:42):
Kyle just took me into a condescending math lesson which
he knows I absolutely despise.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
And I like, you just took it seriously.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
I was joking and now he's like Jamie, it's Jamie.
There were twenty six crew members in my ear. The
second you said two thirds were like, oh she said
two thirds. No, I didn't want to do the bit.
They're ratting you out.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Well, now I have beef with the crew members.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
All right, guys, I understand what the day it is.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
And the point is nobody has to deal with anybody
when it comes to me on Friday.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
So it's Wednesday. We are third the way through the season. Mantai.
You say things now, oh careful, guys.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
Okay, there's Jamie and then there's Earth.

Speaker 6 (10:14):
All right, now it's leaning towards Earth.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
All Okay.

Speaker 6 (10:17):
We want to be going to be friendly on our show.
It's a child friendly show. Guys, come on, okay, second down?

Speaker 1 (10:22):
Whoo, I got fumbles?

Speaker 6 (10:24):
Okay, the fumbles in this narrative and plays KB drawing
our first hour. KB went through a whole great dialogue
about fumbling before the end zone. I'm also talking about
fumbling from running backs. It's just it seems to be
happening at such a high clip that.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
It's alarming to me.

Speaker 6 (10:41):
Like right before guys are about to score hit the ground,
defenders come out and punch the ball out. And this
is my take on this whole situation. There is no
live practices no more. And I think sometimes because defenders
in practice are always tagging off offensive guys, running backs
don't have to really work on ball security when they're

(11:03):
about six inches from ground or when they're running from
running from teammates in practice, and because that isn't a
practiced habit, we're starting to see a lot more of
these fumbles pop up. So this, this this story line
of all of these fumbles coming up is very very
alarming for me as a defender.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
I do like it.

Speaker 6 (11:21):
However, it's been it's been happening at a higher clip
than I did that than I am even comfortable with.

Speaker 4 (11:26):
To me, it's the block field goals to win or
seal games. I guess you could say the Jordan Davis
play against the Rams and a couple other others that
we've seen to the point where now, even if it
is a short field goal, I'm like almost expecting the
block at this point. There was a clip of Baker
Mayfield when Chase McLachlan was hitting a thirty nine yard

(11:46):
field goal, a relative chip shot right now against the
Jets to win the game, and.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
He's facing the side. Please got please, please come.

Speaker 4 (11:53):
On, Chase, please, because you're worried about the block, because that,
all of a sudden has become part of the whole
equation late in the games, when you never would see
this kind of stuff, even on short field goals. It
is the way that I have watched games at the end,
I don't have a rooting interest, but even I'm hyperventilating
because there you go, this block happened right before that
I kicked it, I was talking about.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
I think it's the most exciting play in all of sports.
A blocked kick, a block field gold, anything, it's just bedlam.
Get the silly image of a kicker, a punter trying
to make a tackle, you get all kinds of stuff.
The best story, by far is a team this year who,
if my math is right, has outscored their opponents two
hundred and ten to eighty two. There is no one
on the face of the earth that thought that Daniel
Jones Colts would be four and one, probably including Daniel Jones.

(12:36):
It is so awesome and so fun and such proof
that anything is possible any given Sunday, Daniel Jones gives
other teams belief that their quarterback reclamation project could work too.
Daniel Jones walk so Joe Blacko on the Bengals could
run like it could work if you get the right
time in the right place. It's a really cool thing.

(12:56):
And the Colts are for real. Four in one is
not one to oh, it's not two and one, it's
not any of those. They're so fun to watch and
I think it's the best story of the year by far, Jamie.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
If you like Hold's conversations, just hang with us. Got
a little treat for you on the next segment. I
j letby until then third down, three and out. Yesterday,
Kyle made it clear that he thinks it's cringe when
a coworker likes to tell you when her day off
is coming. And also there's another thing about football that
makes him feel cringe.

Speaker 8 (13:20):
What is it?

Speaker 1 (13:21):
And now the guy who said Duvall he's four and one.
He's celebrating in the locker room of a team that
just beat the raining AFC Champs. Not everything is cringe. Okay,
you know what I think is cringe? Cringe. I know
a lot of you're watching this right now, and Crian,
this is cringe. Go ahead. Anything that's not the coolest,
most hippous thing of all time, cringe, cringe, cringe. It's
one of the worst words in our society right now.

Speaker 3 (13:43):
Took us to church on the word cringe, Kyle Brand did.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
All right, So Kyle has deemed cringe the worst word
in society right now.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
But let's take it easy on that.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
Let's boil it down just to the Football World SHOWI
man's my worst football.

Speaker 6 (13:56):
Word is Okay, let me start, but also let me finish.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
That word is tackle.

Speaker 6 (14:00):
Like that, That word, to me is the worst word
in football. Tackle is the worst word in football because
I think it's synonymous with saw. Like whenever somebody said, oh,
I played football, and somebody said oh, you play tackle football.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
No, you just softened a really.

Speaker 6 (14:14):
Hard word when they said, hey, that was a nice tackle,
Like no, it.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
Was a nice hit.

Speaker 6 (14:19):
You see how I switched that word up and it
gave you a totally different picture.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
Of the sport.

Speaker 6 (14:23):
I think the word tackle shouldn't be included in some
sentences because I think it starts to put a little
shade and sprinkle on a on a game that should
have thorns and spikes and a whole bunch of violence.
So I think the word tackle, I don't like that word.
Take it out, put hit in front of it, collision.
I don't know what it is, but I'm speaking for myself.

Speaker 4 (14:42):
Interesting, leave the tackle with fishing, is with Mantis. Yes,
it's a tackle box exactly for me, Manti, stay with me.
I need your help on this one. Prevent prevent. Look,
I called out kinder Or recently for not saying it's
benefit that I'm gonna call out my buddy Nick, who
texts me NonStop on Sundays.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
What wt H? He didn't use H? But wt is
it with these teams and the prevent defense? Now?

Speaker 4 (15:08):
Nick had I believe the Cardinals because this was during
the Cardinals game in the Survivor pool and maybe some
other action as well.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
Matt Taie, did you ever wear the green dot?

Speaker 4 (15:18):
I don't know if you were the Yeah, they ever
call in a play that was called prevent.

Speaker 6 (15:23):
Defense, No, sir, there was no such thing as prevent defense.
That is something that you run on Madden, but not
on the field. It was more like a Cover four
with some space. But yeah, it's no prevent no prevent
defense for the Michief.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
But the idea is.

Speaker 4 (15:39):
Not like let everybody catch the football like this notion
of like the prevent defense.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
All it does is prevent you from winning.

Speaker 4 (15:46):
Yes, that's very clever.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
I understand that.

Speaker 4 (15:47):
So Nick, then the goal was not to let the
Titans go all the way down the field. They're trying,
they're out there, they're calling defenses they think are going
to where there's no such thing as prevent defense.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
I know you wanted them to win.

Speaker 4 (15:57):
I know you wanted to stay alive in Survivor, which
we don't even have as a segment anymore, because it's
been hard to survive here.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
It really really has. That's a great answer, was a
great answer. The worst word in football is cringe. I
will stick with it right now. I detest this word
and all it stands for. I think there's a generation
that is growing up trying not to do anything because
afraid if someone will call them cringe. It keeps them
from experimenting, from trying, from leaving their comfort zone. And
it is not just my generation. Look at someone incredibly creative.

(16:26):
Donald Glover is on record as saying no one on
their deathbed is going to look back and say thank
god I avoided being cringe. He says, you can't afraid
to be corny. You have to risk looking stupid. That's
how cool stuff happens. Look at the NFL right now,
Liam cohe and his cringe. Liam Cone is four and one.
Daniel Jones is cringe. Daniel Jones is four and one.

(16:46):
I hate it. It is so limiting and so like,
I don't like that, so cringe. I'm just going to
type that stupid word and press send. And meanwhile, I'm
never going to leave my comfort zone for my entire life.
I think it is a horrible, horrible mentality. I see
it in football, I see it everywhere. Don't be afraid
to leave the comfort zone. If someone calls you create,
that should be a badge of honor that you actually
tried something.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
I'm just gonna keep doing it in your face.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
I'm gonna be cringe, double down on the cringe.

Speaker 3 (17:10):
It's a good point. Well done, everybody, all right, moving on.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
As we mentioned, we have a little surprise for you,
a little sweet treat if you like watching the Colts,
if you like talking about the Colts, or perhaps the
Earths a family.

Speaker 3 (17:19):
The Colts are off to their best start.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
As a team in over a decade, and we are
celebrating them. Manti and I have shirts on today in
celebration of Colts, but also something that their team owner
and chief brand officer, Kayla Jackson works very hard on
in addition to part really running the team, Kayla Jackson
joining the show kyle 's Talk Everything.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
Colts very excited about this.

Speaker 6 (17:41):
I just said, the best story in the NFL is
that team right there.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
Plus Mike Carofalo here and I in New York City,
the media capital of the world, are going into the
booth where we hand out awards for the best and
broadcast seinge over week five. Sideline reporters, play by play,
color commentary, studio hosts. Anything in media we hand out awards.
You always have opinions about it. Don't go anywhere.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
Good moan football, Colts, Colts, Colts. You can't avoid the
Indianapolis Colts right now. They had an absolute beatdown of
the Raiders last week. They are the only team in
the NFL in the top five in scoring, offense and defense.
And now we have a friend of the show, Colts
owner and chief brand officer, Kaylin Jackson, on to talk
all things What am I gonna says? Oh, Kaylin, it's

(18:33):
so good to see you and your family. Of course,
we've been seeing a lot of you lately.

Speaker 3 (18:37):
Thank you so much for the Angry Runs picture.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
I know Kyle appreciates it, and I know for you personally.
It's a wonderful time of year because mental health awareness
is at top of mind.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
For many Manta and are wearing our mental Health is
Health shirts today.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
So we have you on first to discuss all things football,
but also what's happening in your life and what you're
focused on outside of the Colts with mental Health is Health.

Speaker 9 (19:00):
Yeah, I'm excited to be here. Thanks for having me,
and thanks for wearing the shirts. They look great.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
Absolutely, So let's talk about the team though, great start,
great quarterback, great coach, all things coming up. So how
does it feel in the building right now?

Speaker 1 (19:13):
It feels incredible.

Speaker 9 (19:14):
I mean, I think being four and one is something
that everyone you know hopes to be at at this point.

Speaker 1 (19:21):
In the season. But I think two, it really shows.

Speaker 9 (19:25):
That everything that was talked about in the off season,
you know, really focusing on complimentary football, really creating that
edge during the off season and during training camp and
creating that competition has really paid off. You know, you
look at last week scoring forty points, you know, having
two takeaways and a blocked punt. You know, that's all
size of the ball firing at full cylinders. And we

(19:46):
couldn't be more proud of the team, the coaches, the staff.
But really, honestly, in the locker room, they're excited and
they're celebrating, but I can tell you, to be completely honest,
it is not enough.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
You know.

Speaker 9 (19:58):
I think it's they they love winning, but it's each
week and stacking it up to get to the end,
which is you know, winning the division, making it to
the playoffs, and making it to the top of that
mountain like we've been talking about all along.

Speaker 6 (20:11):
Yeah, we've loved watching the Indianapolis Coats and watching them
dominate so far. But what is the thing that impresses
you the most about your team? Because there's so many
things that you can be impressed with.

Speaker 9 (20:21):
Yeah, I mean, like I said, I think everything that
Shane talked about in the off season. Really seeing it
come to fruition now in season is incredible and really
keeping a good head on your shoulders, you know, I
think there's a lot of distractions, especially when you're doing
really well. And like I said, they're really focused and
you can feel that in the building. You can feel it,
you know, in the locker room. I think it's a
really great energy to the camaraderie with the team is

(20:44):
something really special.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
And they're having a lot of fun too.

Speaker 9 (20:47):
You know, it's like, let's not forget that element of
the game and element of football, and you can really
sense that, and they're really working together as full team
wins and that's what you want to see, you know,
that's how you make a successful team.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
And so we're really excited.

Speaker 9 (21:02):
I think we know this season in particularbviously especially special
to be able to be winning like this and knowing
that our dad is definitely smiling down. He would have
loved the start of the season, without a doubt, and
that part hurts not have him here, but it also
makes us feel really good and know that he'd be
so proud and that he's definitely smiling down.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
Yeah, he's there, He's there in spirit.

Speaker 4 (21:25):
He's definitely having an impact on this team from above,
that is for sure. Your sister Carly has taken the
lead on day to day operations with the team. She's
on the sidelines, got the headset on, She's taken the
notes right there. A lot of attention for that. What
do you think about the attention she's.

Speaker 9 (21:40):
Receiving for To be honest with you, it's funny, you
know because for us, you know, she's been doing it
for years and so it's not something different or weird,
and you know she's not in any way overstepping.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
It's really I give.

Speaker 9 (21:51):
Her a lot of credit wanting to learn the ins
and outs in every facet of the building, and you know,
it honestly is helpful. We have a lot of conversations
about what she hears and learns by being down there.
But we have to tell you we we haven't. We
have fun with it. We joke, you know, because we
understand the attention. I think owners don't typically do that,
let alone a female owner doing that. So it's definitely

(22:13):
new and different. But we've been joking like maybe she
should do some hand signals or write some notes in
the back of one of her cards, just to see
if anyone notices and have some fun with it. But no,
I guess I gave our thing away that she was
going to do. But no, I mean, I think being
a family run business for so long and growing up
in this we, like I said, the element of fun

(22:33):
and the reality that we get to be in this
place and have this opportunity to be a part of
the best league.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
In the world.

Speaker 9 (22:40):
We don't take that for granted, and so I think
we appreciate the attention, we appreciate the support, and as
funny as it is to us because it feels normal,
we also understand it. And I gave her a lot
of credit, to be honest, because it's it really does help.
I think, like she said, to really know what else
she can do to help? What else can we all
do to support the team in any way we can.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
It's really all working. It's just a wonderful time right now.
And you always hear about organizations that want to success
on the field and off the field, and you're really
doing it. We've already talked about the on the field
success and your family also has the kicking the Stigma
campaign and it's part of the reason that you were
receiving the Sports Visionary of the Year Awards. It's very prestigious.

(23:23):
At the Project Healthy Minds World Mental Health Gala tomorrow nights,
go ahead, take a minute and tell us more about
that honor, because it sounds really special.

Speaker 9 (23:31):
Yeah, I was really humbled to be given this honor,
and you know, Roger Goodell is going to be there
to present it to me, which is also extremely special
for me. But this initiative is so deeply important to
us and our family, you know, having lived experience in
many capacities with mental health, it is something that really
does come from a genuine place of care. And I

(23:53):
think we over the years since we started in twenty twenty,
we've had many moments of success, but you know, the
most important thing is the impact on the people and
the changes that we're making in the mental health space
to truly makes strategic change, and this honor really showcases
that and showcases recognition of that work that we've you know,
a lot of hours have gone into this, and I

(24:15):
think Project Healthy Minds, the organization is giving it to me.
I'm on their board and I'm so proud of the
work that they're doing. They're really innovative and unique in
the sense of fighting stigma but also giving an ability.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
It's kind of like an.

Speaker 9 (24:28):
Open table for mental health services, so you can go
and find what you need, not feel like you even
have to leave your house or even talk to anybody
if you're not ready. You're able to really find a
way to find what you need. And for them to
be able to be putting something like that together is
extremely unique. There's nothing like it, and so I'm just
so happy to be a part of what they do.
And they're one of our guant teas as well, and

(24:48):
so we're just really proud of the work they're doing
and honored that they're highlighting what we're doing as well.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
Calin I always say it to you all the time
when you come on, but I truly believe that what
you are doing in terms of connecting sports athletes, mental
health and as you just said, kind of an open
table mentality, it's so ha helpful to people to see
some of their favorite athletes participate in making something like
having a healthy mind and healthy mental health important.

Speaker 3 (25:12):
So again, props to you.

Speaker 2 (25:14):
Have you had a special experience with fans people that
are in your space come up to you and just
be so thankful for the opportunity you're giving them to
make it okay to talk about their mental health. Does
an experience like that come to mind where someone has
come up to you and been just so so grateful?

Speaker 9 (25:30):
Oh, absolutely too many to mention here to be honest
with you, not just to me, but to players who
have participated in our PSA campaigns. They're participated in any
of our efforts, even if they just happen to be
wearing a shirt that's like the ones you're wearing that
say mental health is health. Sometimes it's just the ability
to give people the permission and feel safe to be
able to share their story and know that they're not

(25:52):
going to be met with judgment and shame, but be
met with love and acceptance and how can we help?
And so we've had adults and adults talking about their
children saying that the PSA life saving for their kid
or for themselves, and that they were really at that
end of the road moment for themselves and if it
wasn't for that, they aren't sure what would have happened.

(26:14):
And so things like that make this extremely it's an
extremely important reminder how important this work is and I
always tell our guys to participate. You don't even have
to say anything, and just you supporting it means so
much to people. You'll have no idea the thousands of
people that you are connecting with and making feel that

(26:35):
you are redefining what strength looks like and what vulnerability
looks like, and that vulnerability is in fact a strength.

Speaker 6 (26:42):
Kaitlyn, you're articulating so well your guys impact on other people.
But I got to ask, has there been someone in
your guys' life outside of the family that you were
able to go to and I was able to help
you guys, you know, kind of transition through this time
because I remember when I was going through some hard times,
I needed that person to tell me it's okay, not

(27:03):
to be okay. Do you have that person in your life?

Speaker 1 (27:07):
Absolutely?

Speaker 9 (27:08):
You know, I'm so lucky and me and my sisters
feel so lucky to have the support that we have
within the building and outside the building and honestly with
each other. You know, my dad lost his dad when
he was thirty seven, just like I was, and so
he didn't have the siblings to support him. He didn't
have as much of a support system. So we feel

(27:29):
so lucky that we've had that built around us. But
you know, I've been in therapy since I was nine.
I can in continual therapy. I have a lot of
different mental health toolkit options for myself, whether that be exercise.

Speaker 1 (27:42):
I love the peloton, I love.

Speaker 9 (27:44):
Reading, I love music, lyrics. You know, there's plenty of
things that I know how to lean on, and I
feel so blessed that I've had the resources and the
ability to know where to turn. And so we just
hope to be able to be part of helping other
people find what they need in those moments of grief
and moments of struggle.

Speaker 1 (28:02):
Kaylen, you mentioned music. I want to show you a
photograph of my favorite heavy metal band of all time.
I think you're gonna like it. Bring it Up. This
is the band Turn it Up to eleven devil Horns
in the air. Oh yeah, that is Jonathan Taylor and
the rest of this rock band. Now, let me explain
some just for context cale then I want your reaction.

(28:22):
I have been collecting pictures like this for over eight years,
and there's been some incredible creative ones and some really
personal ones. This is my favorite one of all time.
When I saw the picture, I screamed, can you please
give us the behind the music of this amazing all
time image.

Speaker 9 (28:38):
Yes, so when you guys called us out, I will
give credit to our content team. They reached out saying, hey,
Jamie wants you to do this, and we're like, okay,
well I don't know if our schedules are aligned, but
let's try.

Speaker 1 (28:50):
It'd be fun.

Speaker 9 (28:51):
And so they kind of had the idea of bringing
the guitar in there, and then we each wanted to
have an element that was an ode to our dad.
So I'm wearing his shirt if you can see of
when he was powerlifting days, Keith wearing the for the boscher,
and then Carly's wearing the hat. So it was one
of those things where we were smiling and I was like,
aren't we supposed to be angry? When we saw the

(29:13):
shot come across, we were like.

Speaker 1 (29:14):
That's perfect.

Speaker 9 (29:15):
We're like, yes, it's working, but no, we were I
literally said the words, we literally.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
Look like this is an album cover. This is not.

Speaker 9 (29:27):
It was, but it was perfect. It was great and
we had a lot of fun with it.

Speaker 2 (29:30):
Well, if Kyle's screaming at his phone throwing it across
the room, that means it was an absolute success and
that will live down in Angry Runs infamy as the
ersa family will as a whole calin. Thank you so
much once again for coming on. Congratulations on how impactful
if your work has been within the mental health space,
and we can't wait to talk to you again.

Speaker 9 (29:46):
Thank you guys so much.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
I really really appreciate it, so really.

Speaker 3 (29:49):
Have a great month of October.

Speaker 1 (29:50):
Look at the month. Oh yeah, wake up and are
you ready.

Speaker 4 (29:56):
To rock.

Speaker 8 (30:00):
Well.

Speaker 7 (30:00):
The NFL Way to Play Awards are fueled by Gatoraded.
They were created to recognize and reward players who's proper
playing techniques at all levels of football, including high school.
This week's winner comes from Elkhart, Indiana. He's a running
back with a scholarship to go to Ball State next year.

Speaker 1 (30:17):
With more.

Speaker 7 (30:18):
Here's former Jets and Dolphins quarterback and current high school
football head coach.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
In Lexington, Kentucky, Chad Pennington.

Speaker 10 (30:24):
This week's winner goes to Reese Brevard, running back from
Concord High School in Indiana. Here he is at the
running back position in the pistol formation.

Speaker 1 (30:33):
Look at his stance.

Speaker 10 (30:34):
There's a great stance here, nice and relaxed, knee slightly
bent as he approaches the line of screaming his vertical downhill.
Look at this approach and finish one, two, three, four, five, six,
seven missed tackles with spin, moves, great balance, great control,
and then has a burst of speed to go down
the right hand sideline for the touchdown for Concord High School. Congratsuates,

(30:57):
what a way to play.

Speaker 7 (31:01):
That's Sansyon reminding you of Ashton Gent just kind of
waiting for it. In honor of this terrific way to play,
the NFL Foundation will award a three thousand dollars equipment
grant that's through USA Football to the Concord Minute Men.
Learn more about the NFL Way to Play. Check out
Playfootball dot NFL dot com. Renounce another winner right here
next week now coming up Kyle and Mike, they're taking

(31:23):
us into the booth some of the best calls that
you maybe have missed from Week five, but we're going
to catch you up right here on GMFB.

Speaker 4 (31:39):
Good football.

Speaker 1 (31:43):
You are looking live and Manhattan Island actually in the background.
That is Lady Liberty and Liberty Island in the foreground,
all part of this media capital or the planet Earth
we called New York City, where we are coming to
you live from the desk. Here up Troy with me
as always as Mike Garafalo. By means of Troy Aikman,
I am Kyle Brandts. And on Wednesdays we like to

(32:04):
hand that the hardware, Mike. We like to show our appreciation,
our respect for the ladies and gentlemen who do broadcasting
around this great National Football League. By means of awards,
we have several, we have commentaries. We haven't have props today,
up to and including our fake microphones. Are you ready, Mike?
I am ready, Kyle, I believe you are. Our first
award today is called best Play Call. It's very, very simple.

(32:25):
We've heard them all, we love them all, but none
more than Titans radio announcer Taylor Zarzer's call of Joey
Sly's game winning kick. Take it away, Taylor Cox.

Speaker 4 (32:37):
Snaps it back, Sly, lets it fly, Hey, Nashville, that
sounds like a winner.

Speaker 1 (32:47):
The Tennessee Titans.

Speaker 11 (32:49):
Twenty two, the Arizona Cardinals twenty one.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
All right, so you got he? Lets it fly? Joey
Sly Bullseye, what a guy, my ow my in the
ie mean, it's an amazing thing. And by the way,
that was the strangest game of all times, So you
have to deliver like that. That was Taylor's first season.
Now is say Titan's radio announcer fantastic? Also this college
football College Baseball SEC network, you have reminiscent of Happy Gilmour.

Speaker 4 (33:14):
Why don't I go eat some hey, make things out
of clay by the bay?

Speaker 1 (33:17):
What do you say? Listen to what I say or
you'll pay it? Okay, so good? What have we got next?
Great John Taylor?

Speaker 4 (33:24):
Next, we have the best fan shout out. And if
you stayed up late on Sunday night, not terribly late,
you know exactly what I'm talking about.

Speaker 1 (33:34):
Mike Terrico, take it away, Josh turns.

Speaker 11 (33:38):
And we'll throw it away. Just catch there. Oh, he's gone. Milano,
Milano's gonna go. He's in row ten, he's in row fifteen.
He might get a beer, Mala. Where are you going?

Speaker 1 (33:49):
Man?

Speaker 11 (33:49):
At your moment?

Speaker 1 (33:50):
Milano over forty led by Allen. He's gonna take it
the distance.

Speaker 11 (33:55):
Maybe it wasn't his seat, maybe he doesn't want to
be on TV.

Speaker 1 (33:59):
He's gone, all right, that's fantastic.

Speaker 4 (34:01):
Reminiscent of Kevin Harlan where he calls the streaker.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
I guess running across a lot of interesting things there.
I think in the post coldplay couple world, you're always
aware that maybe a fan doesn't want to be on camera,
and I think Mike was tuned in to that elaborate backstory.
That fans name is Brian Kemp, and he talked to
NBC four in Buffalo. Apparently goes with a lot of games.
He's caught balls before and the team always comes and says,
we need the ball back. He had a plan going
into this one with his wife, who was like, if

(34:25):
it happens tonight, I'm out of here. He runs out
of there, He's gone, just like you said, Milano. And
then apparently the team approached the wife and said, where's
her husbandhere's the ball. He came back, had to give
back the ball, and they gave him a separate ball,
but not a game ball.

Speaker 4 (34:38):
Very strict, very strict, very strange. How many footballs has
this dude caught in his life. I've never caught a
foul ball at a baseball a lot more of those.
How does he wind up catching multiple Who's that guy
in baseball?

Speaker 1 (34:49):
The home run guy who takes bast and stuff like that,
like that's a wonderful guy. All right, best reference. This
is a great one. We're very excited for this one.
The Amazon crew Alan Kirk and they find themselves looking
for the perfect description of Kyle Shanahan's place, and you
better believe they found it here. You go, look at
that sheet. What do they call that?

Speaker 11 (35:09):
It's a menu from what.

Speaker 1 (35:12):
Do you know? What do you say not? I forget
the restaurant said cheesecake, fat cake fag.

Speaker 11 (35:17):
Their men used like three inches right deep right, twenty
eight pages.

Speaker 1 (35:21):
Kirk, you were on it. You nailed it, and so
are we. This thing is biblical. There's three pages devoted
to our story, the story of before you even get
the food, Mike is ra Anything that caught your eye on
page seventy three or one oh five.

Speaker 4 (35:35):
Well, I'm gonna start with the Long Island iced tea
because nothing says changed restaurant like getting carried to the
car in the parking lot of them all there. I
am then gonna go with the salmon. Hold on, I
gotta get to the page.

Speaker 1 (35:47):
Sure, I want to go with the.

Speaker 4 (35:49):
Fire crackers, salmon splice, fresh salmon rolled in spinach, and
fried in a crisp wrapper.

Speaker 1 (35:54):
And then I'm gonna go with Renees.

Speaker 4 (35:55):
Special because we had we talked Rene Russo earlier in
the day. One half of a fresh turkey or chickens out.
Probably go chickens out, a cup of soup and a
small green salad also available with Caesar.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
I'm sure it's an up to and you're absolutely hammered
on the Long Island. Interesting. Our producer staff here reached
out to Kaylee hounks Hartong, part of the Amazon crew,
and asked if Alan Kirk have been to a cheesecake factory,
you know, you go out on the road with your
broadcast partners. She said, Her guess is that they've never
eaten at a Cheesecake Factor in their lives, but of
course if they did, Alan Michaels would have no vegetables.
Before we move on, Mike, I want to get closest

(36:27):
to the pin. I looked how many cheesecakes are on
the Cheesecake Factory menu. I counted, just take a guess.

Speaker 4 (36:34):
Twenty six thirty three thirty three three these cakes in
all of them absolutely delicious.

Speaker 1 (36:41):
Carry on, Mike, what do we got thirty three?

Speaker 4 (36:42):
The number of never mind too much dip on the
chip award. We are going with this one. It is
now listen. This guy was the talk of the internet.

Speaker 1 (36:50):
Certainly was is this where's the talk of the NFL Foxes.

Speaker 4 (36:53):
Eric Collins of Hornets announcing fame, go.

Speaker 6 (36:58):
Tongue, my.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
Stud and look at them look.

Speaker 1 (37:05):
Cunn of speed got young man to the inj one.

Speaker 4 (37:11):
Hey chan, didny he dad?

Speaker 6 (37:15):
Look at this down shot out his seat, talk to
the end zone execularly. Tungo my law got him fast
touch down wall.

Speaker 1 (37:30):
Young caw it hard, Brice Young get his.

Speaker 10 (37:36):
Bad touch down their time down tongue all.

Speaker 4 (37:43):
Right, if you're not, if you say, how come I
never heard this guy before? In October because of postseason baseball,
Fox will move some folks up.

Speaker 1 (37:50):
They got some holes to fill.

Speaker 4 (37:51):
One at one point landed when Peter Schrieger on the
sideline of Fox's Game of the Week because they needed
people to fill in some spots. So that is why
Eric Collins is in there. Uh, this guy's been at
it for a while.

Speaker 1 (38:02):
Let's go back up.

Speaker 4 (38:02):
What years this twenty twenty two Arizona State Women's softball
Eric Collays.

Speaker 1 (38:16):
For Watson unbelievable.

Speaker 11 (38:24):
Chris Shannah Watson, how do you do?

Speaker 1 (38:30):
Ms Watson wherever you are. What a moment today? Incredible
opposite field blast and Eric Collins amazing. You know, they
say Mike. Some of the reaction was to like, dude,
for Panthers Dolphins, you're that fired up. What I say
to that is there are no small games. There's only
small broadcasters. Remember the years ago in the LA Coliseum,
the Jared Golf versus Patrick Mahomes epic showdown. He made

(38:50):
Panthers Dolphins feel like that. I felt like I was
there in the state. I felt like I was just
in the ballpark for Arizona State based or softball. I
liked it. I loved it. In fact, Eric Collins never changed.
Great job. Thanks you.

Speaker 4 (39:00):
Wonder if Gus Johnson's watching it home going he needs
to tone it down a little bit.

Speaker 1 (39:04):
That's on my corner. I don't know, there's no corner
called enthusiasm. In fact, I'd be surprised that Eric cons
was not influenced by Gus Johnson. But Eric Colls you
certainly influenced our segment. We love you, and we love you,
Lady Sun Devil Softball. That's it for inside the Booth.
We had cheesecake, we had long islandized teas. It's Arkona segment.
Tune in next week the very best broadcast, Good Morning

(39:25):
Football returns. The Giants and the Mets won.

Speaker 8 (39:33):
Four months apart, the Mets won eighty six, and then
in October we beat the Red Sox and the Giants
won this game. And because of that is the reason
why wfan began. This was an incredible impactful period in
New York sports where everybody wanted to do sports talk.

Speaker 1 (39:52):
Any W did sports talk.

Speaker 8 (39:54):
WNBC did sports talk.

Speaker 1 (39:56):
Art Russ did sports talk at ABC. It was the
first theme, Let's do sports all day, NFL classics. After
further review, Wednesdays at nine only on Vice TV, Wednesday
Night Football Guys, every single week, nine pm Eastern on Vice.
That was myself, Phil Simms and mad Dog talking about

(40:17):
Super Bowl twenty one, aka the Phil Simms Game. We
sit down, we watch it, we talk about it. It's
Giants Broncos. It's incredible, incredible things in which Phil Simms
played the most legendary half in any Super Bowl history.
Bill Parcells is there, Bill Belichick is there? John Elway
is there. Legendary Giants linebacker Harry Carson at the end
of the game goes and gets a security jacket so

(40:37):
we can be in disguise on the sideline to sneak
up on Bill Parcells and give him a gatorade shower.
It is nine o'clock tonight, nine o'clock Eastern on Vice.
I promise it is so fun. There's no game on tonight.
That is the Wednesday Night Football. I really think you
should watch it. Trust me, Matt, tay Taya, what do
you have your eye on?

Speaker 6 (40:52):
Well, we saw mad Dog in that mad Dog is
known for going back and forth. We had it back
and forth earlier in this hour, and there was a
tweet that we.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
Found that I wanted to show you guys.

Speaker 6 (41:03):
That says Jamie saying, it's Thursday on a Wednesday. It's
like drop from the ball too early before getting into
that so I slang freedom.

Speaker 1 (41:12):
Thank you, Thank you for watching this show. Jane, what
do you feel about that? How do you feel?

Speaker 3 (41:16):
I can't believe we couldn't come up with that faster.

Speaker 2 (41:18):
That's why the brain is operating on a Thursday, but
it is a Wednesday. That is a perfect parallel. Kyle,
it was such a cringe moment for me. To begin
the hour. But I do dear so apologize.

Speaker 1 (41:29):
They call it Jamie and Mercado. That is her new nickname,
and our producer has been fine for going out to
scream at her on set for doing it. It's all right,
Jan We've all been there before. I wish it was Thursday,
believe me, Kyle.

Speaker 3 (41:40):
I do I want to run something about you guys
in New York.

Speaker 2 (41:42):
I do have a new qualifier for perhaps a cringe
moment of the day. Matthy Tayo wanted to get the
blood flowing before the showy.

Speaker 3 (41:51):
Water the show.

Speaker 2 (41:52):
I'm like you understand that the camera can always find you. Okay,
all right, that's how we're gonna do If you did
it off to the side, every commercial wanted to do
severe commercial.

Speaker 1 (42:06):
That's how you're gonna do it.
