Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Good Morning's Football, Good morning to you. We're talking about football.
We're live in LA and New York, and we're.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
Going to check in with the Houston Texans training camp. Momentarily.
It's Wednesday, July thirtieth. Jamie ear Ol, Mantai, Tao, Kyle Brandt,
Isaiah standback.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
What's happening good people.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Kyle, You've had yourself a nice little Wednesday. You had
your segment last hour, your episode three of this was
a dude, You've got your yucks and your chuckles in.
You even have had an epic movie reference.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
But this hour, we.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Are playing trivia against each other. I got to take
this subject matter and my friend, you're going down.
Speaker 4 (00:42):
Oh.
Speaker 5 (00:42):
I think there's an ironic symmetry. We'll see about that.
Speaker 6 (00:45):
Jamie.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Where we started this show today an hour ago talking
about the Cleveland Browns, and all of us were like,
I don't know, I don't know any answers to any
of the questions about the Browns. In this hour, I
will know every answer to every question about whatever time.
Speaker 7 (00:57):
It is, we'll find out shortly. Good Morning Football, Let's
go football.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
That's right, Good morning football. We love that you're here.
We love talking about the fact that soon we will
be playing preseason. Soon we will have regular season, and
we will have answers to all questions. Here are some answers,
Jamie Mantai, Kyle Isaiah.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
We talk a.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Lot about the NFC North and just the pitfalls that
it all has within the division, but the Bears have
been oftentimes at the bottom of the pitfall. Let's say
we're barbed wire down there for the Bears. But are
they coming out of the darkness at this point and
is it will it be at the hands of their
new head coach.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
We're going to start in Chicago where Ben.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Johnson is impressed with his receiver duo and he gives
a breakdown of what he's been seeing between DJ Moore
and Romaduza.
Speaker 8 (01:57):
To me, he fits that prototypical X receiver where you
can line them up outside the numbers, and provided he
gets so one on one with a corner, he's going
to win most of his matchups. When you have a
long guy that can win contested catches and torque down
the field and all that, but yet still can drop
his weight and get into and out of routes like
(02:17):
he can. That's that's really a unique skill set that
we're going to look to capitalize on. And what I've
come to learn about DJ is a He's a physical
he is a run after catch, just get me the
ball type of guy. And so, whether that's in the backfield,
whether that's screens, whether that's I think you had a
nice go route the other day, there's a number of
(02:38):
things that we're looking to do and explore to how
do we get him the ball and get him in space.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
There's a lot of hymns and he's there.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
It's DJ Moore and it's Roma Dunza, and it's the
guys that hopefully have first hand participation in the success
of Kayleb Williams this season.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Listen.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
For those guys to be successful, it has to come
from a big year from the quarterback entering his second year.
But while Caleb Williams played fine last year, he still
did not achieve a mark that the Bears have been satiating,
salivating over for all of time. Practically, who said his
goal is to throw four thousand yards this season? Call
(03:16):
Williams said this fill in the blank. Caleb Williams will
become the bears first four thousand yard passer if he
does the following manti.
Speaker 9 (03:25):
If they do exactly what Ben Johnson says, like that's
all you have to do.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
Just whatever the man says, do it.
Speaker 9 (03:31):
And the reason being is this last year, Caleb Williams
threw for thirty five hundred yards, and that's with a
total yards offense that ranked last. A rushing offense is
twenty fifth, passing offenses thirty first, third down conversion offense
thirty first, Yet the man still through for thirty five
hundred while being sacked more than any other quarterback in
the NFL. So all you have to do is do
(03:51):
exactly what your head coach is saying. Do I love
this interview that I heard? Or DJ Moore said in
reaction to a question of how has it been with
Ben Johnson? And DJ Morris said one word, KB gonna
love this as a Bears fat he said, it's been uncomfortable.
Like that's all I need to know as to how
Ben ben Johnson is running this team, how he's the
(04:14):
expectation that he's set for not only his stars, but
everybody else in that building that is making them uncomfortable
and when your star receiver is saying that, imagine what
the rookie is saying. Imagine the examples that are being
set out on that football field. When Ben Johnson pulls
the first team offense out for misaligning twice in the
seven on seven period, Like, that's the stuff that I
(04:36):
think that if Caleb Williams and the rest of the
Chicago Bears just follow exactly what Ben Johnson is saying,
Caleb Williams is gonna throw for four thousand yards and
he's gonna do it easy because Jared Goff didn't throw
under four thousand yards at once. With Ben Johnson and
with Caleb Williams, I think he can do it multiple times.
Speaker 10 (04:54):
There is no shortage of talent in Chicago. These guys
have all the weapons in the world. You have a
young gun at quarterback and Caleb Williams. You have a
running back in DeAndre Swift, two headed monster at tight
end in Coaston Lovelan and Cole Kmmit. You have a
two headed monster, a receiver, DJ More Roman Doonza. You
have all the weapons, but none of it matters if
you can't keep him upright, keep the man off the ground.
Speaker 5 (05:17):
Man the Chicago Bears.
Speaker 10 (05:18):
Had sixty eight sacks last year.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
Sixty eight.
Speaker 6 (05:21):
I don't know.
Speaker 10 (05:21):
I'm not great at math, but I use a calculator
on my phone, and if you divide sixty eight by seventeen,
that's an average of four sacks per game. No quarterback
is thrown from four thousand yards. I know he threw
for thirty five forty one last year, and that's awesome.
He's gonna hit four thousand yards if they can keep
this guy upright, and they plan to do so by
bringing in veteran offense alignment. They Ben Johnson did not
(05:41):
want to work with no rookies. He doesn't want to
train nobody up he said, Joe Toney, come here, Drew Dahman,
come here, Jonah Jackson, come here. I need this young
man upright, and I need to be able to utilize
him to get the ball in the hands of my playmakers.
I cannot wait to see this offense take off. I
think it's going to be one of the most explosive.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
In the league.
Speaker 5 (05:58):
Listen, you guys are on it.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
It's a combination of Kent does he click with Ben
Johnson and Kenny standing his feet behind the offense of line.
But you know, when Caleb came out and said this
the four thousand yard thing, I was a little bit
disappointed because personally I don't care about that number. I
think it is really meaningless. And for context, Josh Allen
last year was the MVP. Did not throw for four
(06:20):
thousand yards. Jalen Hurts won the Super Bowl, did not
throw for three thousand yards.
Speaker 5 (06:25):
You can go up and down the list.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
The four thousand and five thousand thays, it's over it.
And yet I like that he did it now that
I've had a second to think about it, because it's
not just about statistics and doing this and doing that.
Speaker 5 (06:35):
It's about making the dumb joke go away.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
It's about the mean going away, and it's about you know,
the Bears are the only team blah blah blah blahut up.
Speaker 5 (06:43):
Yes, we know that. We've heard about it for.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Years, and Caleb represents change and renaissance and getting rid
of all that dirty laundry and garbage that the Bears
have littered the floor with for years. So if Caleb
Williams wants to throw for four thousand yards so that
he never has to hear again that no Bears quarterback
has ever thrown for four thousand yards.
Speaker 5 (07:02):
God bless him do it. I hope he does it.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
I hope everything about it happens, because there are too
many things clinging to this team, too many parasites, too
many things that just drag them down and worry their
reputation and get the fans upset, and the dumb thing
about four thousand yards.
Speaker 5 (07:20):
Is one of them.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
So I don't think it's important you can win the
MVP in the Super Bowl this year and not throw
for four thousand yards. But it is also just flicking
off one of those barnacles that cling to the Chicago
Bears organization. And that is his job, Caleb's job, New Bears,
New Future, new everything. If it's important to him, then
I completely support it. And if he can stand up
(07:42):
and he can follow this whiz head coach he's got,
he will do it.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
Let me ask you, guys, this are the Bears in
this vacuum of They must achieve immediate success or else
because of everything that they've experienced.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Or Kyle, I'll ask you this first.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
Would you be okay with four thousand yards but only
like a three win improvement or do you need to
see this direct plastic uptick in order for you and
kind of representative of Bears fans in general to say
we are finally moving in the right direction, because there's
the right direction, and then there is just like a
drastic takeoff, which is it.
Speaker 5 (08:15):
Win this year? Win guys?
Speaker 1 (08:17):
Year two for quarterbacks is the new year five? Just
just look around at what's going on. You have to
keep up. Joe Burrow was in the super Bowl in
his second year. All these guys that he's competing with
are going to be competing with. It's you don't wait,
there's no It's not like when I was a kid
and you sit for a backup for a couple of years,
then there's a warm up year and another warm up year,
and now you're in your prime. No, no, no, no, no,
that's all changed. And that all changed when Mahomes took
(08:39):
the field in his second year and was about to
beat Brady in the title game. The standards are different.
I don't care that he is a new coach. I
don't care that he has to gel with his new players.
It's time you win in your second year or we
start looking so. Yes, Caleb has all the tools, but no, no, no,
if you were to tell me that Caleb Williams starts
for forty five hundred yards this year and the Bears
(09:00):
are seven and ten. That is a bitterly disappointed year.
This is a playoff season for the Bears, and anything last.
Speaker 5 (09:06):
Of it is like, what are we doing?
Speaker 10 (09:07):
Yeah, I wouldn't go as far as that can be.
I think as long as they have a winning percentage,
I think not winning percent to be a winning record.
I think that they're heading in the right direction. I
know that everybody you know task Ben Johnson as being
this guru, and he is that That's why he's there.
They say that Caleb Williams as a quarterback guru. That's
why he's there.
Speaker 6 (09:25):
You know.
Speaker 10 (09:25):
They they went out and they invested in Romo dunesaid Ay, Brandon,
DJ Moore, they got DeAndre swipp So they put the
talent around them, they put the quarterback in position, and
now they have the head coaching position, so that expectations
definitely have changed. I don't care about the four thousand
yards either.
Speaker 5 (09:38):
I agree with you, Kyle on that one, but I do.
Speaker 10 (09:40):
Believe that these guys need a winning record. They the
reality is they're in one of the toughest divisions in
the NFL, the NFC North, it's going to be challenging
to get into.
Speaker 5 (09:49):
That top three.
Speaker 10 (09:50):
Aaron, definitely, it's gonna be a challenge to get into
the top two. But if these guys can have a
winning record in the first year of Ben Johnson, to
get Caleb Williams in this offense and the defense continues
to do what they've been doing over the years, which
is playing well, if that could be consistent, then you're
heading in the right direction.
Speaker 4 (10:04):
Next year, the expectation elevates.
Speaker 9 (10:07):
I see where you're coming from. I kind of agree
with what KB said. And you know, in our first
hour we had a quote thing and I quoted the
movie Dark Knight. There's another quote that I wanted to use,
and this is actually perfect for this segment. It says,
sometimes the truth isn't good enough. Sometimes people deserve more.
Sometimes people deserve to have their faith rewarded. And I
think that's the Bears fans like, how many times are
(10:27):
we going to talk about like that we're heading in
a positive trajectory. How many times we're heading in the
right direction. We have the quarterback, we have the coach,
we have the skilled players, we have the O line,
now now let's go. You know, I think they're at
that point where it's like, let's let's do something about it.
To Kb's point, you could throw for six thousand yards,
but if we're not in the playoffs like that, what
(10:47):
does that even mean?
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Like that doesn't really mean anything to me.
Speaker 9 (10:50):
Now, I think if you throw for six thousand yards
like you'll probably be in the playoffs. But for Chicago fans,
I think they're at that point they already KB where
it's like, man, all right, we know all of these facts,
but at a certain point we have to be rewarded
for our love and our faith loyalty to towards this
towards this organization.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
It's amazing how many times Mantai can quote the Dark
Knight right.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
Here to Averages.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
Just swims in it.
Speaker 10 (11:17):
I just want to want to ask them really quick,
because I know Kyle said, is playoff for really bust
for for Chicago Bears?
Speaker 5 (11:23):
And the reason why I don't.
Speaker 10 (11:24):
I don't see it that way is because in order
for the Chicago Bears to make the playoffs, that means
one of the other NFC NFC North not to make
the playoffs. Right, So you're saying that the Detroit Lions,
the Minnesota Vikings, or the Green Bay Packers are not
going to make the playoffs. If these guys make it,
and I just don't see that happening, it's.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
A good situation.
Speaker 5 (11:44):
I got to take that, like, I don't.
Speaker 1 (11:45):
I don't think that the NFC North is as brutal
as we're making it out. If you're a Bears fan
right now, all right, you like the Lions, maybe they'll
find be fine without the coordinators leaving.
Speaker 5 (11:53):
Do you love the Packers? You might like them.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Do you love the twenty twenty five Packers? Do you
love the Vikings? We have no idea if JJ McCarthy
can play. You look around the North and you're like, yeah,
there's some good teams. Like look at the AFC North.
I like it better, even with the Browns. I don't
think that the NFC North is the gauntlet that it's
made out to be. I think there's some good teams,
maybe one great team, but it's football, Like the teams
are good.
Speaker 5 (12:16):
I don't think it's unconquerable. I don't.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
All right, let's go to another divisional gauntlet, the AFC South.
Let's check in with the Houston Texans. And our own
Bridge at Condon, who is with us for NFL Network
or Insights Training Cam Live today talking all things Texans, Bridget,
good morning to you. Great to see you on GMFB.
First and foremost, what's going on in Houston these days?
Speaker 2 (12:36):
First time are there?
Speaker 11 (12:37):
Yeah, Jamie, thanks for having me and first time to Houston.
I got in really late last night, so haven't seen it.
But the one thing I was told about this training
camp is it's going to be the hottest training camp
you ever go to. So here's the thing sitting right
next to me. You can't see it is a AC
unit like this crew here is absolutely unbelievable. Dare I
say I have goosebumps because this AC is blowing so hot.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
But also it's not that hot here.
Speaker 11 (13:01):
It's about eighty degrees humidities on he's seventy percent, So
they really rolled out the red carpet for me here
in Houston. But these fans are so excited Jamie to
see CJ. Stroud in this new look offense. We just
talked to a guy. He said he got here at
two oh seven in the morning. He was the third
person in line. He said he was here yesterday at
(13:22):
one am and became the first person in live So
they were doing everything they can to see c J.
Stroud and this new offense under Nick Kayley. Look, a
lot of things were said about c J. Stroud in
his second year. He had that incredible rookie season where
he set a bunch of records, became the offensive rookie
of the year, and then kind of had a slump
(13:43):
in year two. But when you look at the numbers,
he really did not have time to execute passes downfield
because he was sacked fifty two times. I know Isaiah
was just talking about Caleb Williams and needing to keep
him up right. The same conversations are happening here in Houston.
They want to be able to have CJ. Stroud, give
him a little bit more time to stay upright, throw
(14:05):
the ball down the field. And they got a pair
of receivers in the draft that they're really excited about.
Just trying to see what they can do together here
in training camp, trying to build that chemistry.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
Jamie, Yeah, speaking of you just mentioned it, a couple
of new weapons for the Texans. Listen, they want to
have their cake and eat it too. They want to
have this great young quarterback, and they want to expand
the offense and invest so they can continuously win their
division and make the playoffs. What are we to expect
from this version of the Texans after injuries plagued them
last season.
Speaker 11 (14:37):
Yeah, so when you look at this roster, right, Safon
Diggs has now gone to New England, and then you
have Tank Dell who's expected to miss the season due
to that ACL injury. But they got that duo from
Iowa State, those receivers who were going to talk to
later today, who was one of the best.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
Duos in college.
Speaker 12 (14:55):
So can they.
Speaker 11 (14:55):
Transfer that in their first season here at Houston. We're
going to ask him that. And then Christian Kirk, who,
by the way, Jamie, we have something in common with him.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
He's a girl dad.
Speaker 11 (15:05):
He just welcomed his first baby, him and his wife
a couple of months ago. He was a player that
you know, played in this division. He played against the
Texans twice a year. He was with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Now is here with the Texans and CJ. Stroud is
really excited to build the chemistry. He's doing so much
with this new team. They even went to Toronto, which
(15:28):
is kind of fun. Like during the off season, they
took a trip to Toronto the wide receivers CJ. Stroud
and the tight ends to just build that chemistry. And
you know, they were just touring around Toronto, like, can
you imagine these NFL players just with their phones out,
looking around at at the sight set it seeings and
just kind of enjoying. But it's all those things like
at this point of the year, Jamie, you know that
(15:49):
are going to pay off when it comes to December
and January and you can shut your eyes and throw
a pass because you know your receivers and your pass
catchers so well. So all those little things, it's gonna
be it's gonna be interesting to watch how how much
they've gelled. We're entering day three of pass here today
at Texas Texans training camp.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
Nothing like getting lost in an international country together to
really make sure that you have your route coverage figured out.
In week ten eleven twelve, it's a fantastic point. Christian
Kirk a notorious great locker room guy. And now we
just have this fleet of girl dads running around the league.
We love that Bridgeaconnon, thank you so much. Seven hours
of live coverage from training camps all around the league,
which includes player interviews that you can't find anywhere else
(16:30):
inside training camp Life gets underway at noon Eastern right
here on NFL Network. Still to come, We've got a
friend of the show stopping by in anticipation of the
Hall of Fame game.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
We have Hall of.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
Fame guard Will Shields on to talk about his former
teammate Jared Allen, who will be joining him in the
Hall this week as we create a mullet shaped.
Speaker 5 (16:52):
Bust Kyle, Oh, I love it.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
That better be and I'm just going to read the
teleprophet verbatim here. Coming up, we are going to have
a one versus one Good Morning Football trivia game. That's right, Jamie,
who knows this show better? Is that really a question?
That was an ad lib? We'll find out next Jamie.
You betta go carbo load.
Speaker 13 (17:12):
I know you are already, So let's bagels for everyone.
Speaker 14 (17:19):
Good Morn Football.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
This week is the start of my fourth season on
the show. Three years ago this week I began hosting
Good My Football. Thank you, Kyle. It is the start
don't clap for yourself of season ten for you, my friend,
So in honor of that and in honor of this show,
and honestly, these newcomers to our group. Just to make
sure we educate everybody, Kyle, We're gonna play some GMFB
(17:51):
moments in time trivia, Manti and Isaiah will tea up
these questions, and of course we must answer with the
GMFB mascot the whiteboard. Yes, and we will reveal our
answers and we have video clues, my friend, for every
single one.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Are you ready, Kyle Brandt?
Speaker 1 (18:06):
Yeah, I'm really really nervous about this. I'm not confident
in my ability to.
Speaker 5 (18:09):
Say, oh, KB, who are you right now?
Speaker 2 (18:11):
This is a good actor.
Speaker 5 (18:12):
You lock it up, get it done.
Speaker 9 (18:14):
I got questioning, Okay, I got a questions you guys.
Speaker 6 (18:17):
Are you ready?
Speaker 5 (18:18):
Jamie?
Speaker 4 (18:18):
Okay, but you're ready?
Speaker 6 (18:19):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (18:21):
What was the.
Speaker 9 (18:22):
Tweet that made Jamie fall to the floor during Hot
Tweet Time?
Speaker 4 (18:27):
Machine? Oh no, what was the tweet that.
Speaker 9 (18:31):
Made Jamie fall to the floor during Hot tweet Time?
Speaker 5 (18:37):
Can I give some context? Yeah? Go ahead, please.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
We did a thing where we look back on old
tweets from ten to twelve years ago of all of us,
and we just brought up embarrassing tweets that were way
way way before we were working in media and we
found one from Jamie's that was really, really, really funny.
And the question is what was that tweet? The second
question is, Jamie, do you remember I fall on.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
The floor a lot during the show.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
I don't know if it was one of my I
guess maybe it was.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
I think there was something about I.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
Was writing tomorrow is a mystery or yesterday was a gift,
or something like that, and I was so embarrassed about
it that I wanted to just like hide within a
shell of myself.
Speaker 4 (19:16):
Kat what you got?
Speaker 1 (19:17):
Many remember when you were a freshman, you got on
the field and got your first taste in Notre Dame
and you made that big hit and just crushed that. Dude,
you set a tone. I'm gonna set a tone with
this first question. Not only is it yesterday's history, tomorrow
is a mystery, that today is a gift.
Speaker 4 (19:32):
That's why I call it the President.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
I remember how I said it, I went yesterday is history, tomorrow,
it's a mystery, Today is a gift. Watch well, I
do this stuff, but let's give like a very erudite, intellectual,
really informed type sweet this on a blow where I
love the Yesterday's history was a mystery.
Speaker 5 (19:52):
Today is a gift. That's why they call it. The presidents.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
Oh my gosh, oh very poetic.
Speaker 5 (19:59):
Jamie speak on it. Socrates.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
It was like somebody's quote.
Speaker 3 (20:04):
At least I blame myself or not being it's incredible.
Speaker 4 (20:10):
Okay, extra point. Did actually the whole thing?
Speaker 3 (20:14):
No, I get that's a full point.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
For each I said it was a value effort.
Speaker 4 (20:18):
It was a value effort.
Speaker 6 (20:18):
All right, here we go. Next question.
Speaker 10 (20:21):
When Kyle ranted it's a wedding toast and not a speech,
what was the name of the groom?
Speaker 3 (20:27):
Kyle mentioned a pretend groom that he talked about.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
Okay, we had to get this off my chest. One
one summer we were saying, when you get up there
and you're the best man or the maid of honor,
you get up and you give a nice concise toast
with a glass of champagne, and you make it all
about them.
Speaker 5 (20:42):
You don't say that you're my rock and you're my
partner in crime.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
And I gave a hypothetical example of a groom and
a bride.
Speaker 5 (20:50):
I'm trying to remember the groom. I think I know it.
Speaker 6 (20:53):
Jamie's over her.
Speaker 5 (20:54):
I think I mean I know.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
I know Kyle's point.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
I can remember the tone, and I feel like he
goes and Kevin, I love you so much?
Speaker 2 (21:03):
And and what does that say?
Speaker 1 (21:06):
That says Tyler Tyler, and the answer is another things
in the nid of honor. I've heard this recently. Do
not include this line. Go ahead, I'll be honest.
Speaker 5 (21:20):
When I first met Tyler, I wasn't the biggest fan.
Tyler's grandmother sitting right there. What are you talking about?
Don't edit that out. You just said you hated the
groom when you first met him. It is his night.
Speaker 4 (21:35):
Wow, Tyler good Gar.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
By the way, that happened at my own wedding, and
I've seen it.
Speaker 5 (21:46):
At other weddings.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
They get up there like when I first met your husband,
I wasn't so sure, and you're like, oh really, I
noticed you're at another wedding by yourself.
Speaker 5 (21:54):
What a surprise. Anyway, let's go solo.
Speaker 4 (21:57):
Next question.
Speaker 9 (21:59):
During Jamie's Friday Food Mashup, Kyle said, the biggest op
cool about this.
Speaker 4 (22:05):
Segment is the time zone.
Speaker 9 (22:07):
If I had two whiskeys and were in Saint Paul
at eight fifteen pm.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
I'm licking the plate.
Speaker 9 (22:14):
This is an anger run to the palette, which matchup
and food dish was he talking about?
Speaker 6 (22:20):
Wow?
Speaker 3 (22:21):
Two seasons ago on Thursday nights during the games, I
would cook a dish and I would create my own
recipe from the two cities of a week one game
that was just a random one o'clock game.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
I think I made.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
Cheddar cheese apple pie once and the Falcons and Packers
are playing each other, and Kyle's commentary when being forced
to eat this in the eight o'clock hour of the
Friday Show with some of the best. I believe this
because of the reference to the once he has done
writing to our time zone, but also specifically the city
that he said is that I made tater tot hot
(22:53):
dish when the Vikings and the Packers played each other.
Speaker 4 (22:55):
Jamierdol tatter tot hot dish? What do you have, Kyle Brant?
Speaker 1 (22:58):
All right, listen, I have a lot of psychological scar
tissue built up over that segment.
Speaker 5 (23:04):
So I'm gonna say, was it onions and milk?
Speaker 1 (23:07):
Because I feel like that was how it was most.
Speaker 5 (23:09):
Weeks onions and milk. That's my guess. That's you to answer.
Speaker 1 (23:16):
As I always say, Jamie, the biggest obstacle to this
segment is time zone. It's am It is if I
had two whiskeys and we're in Saint Paul at eight
fifteen pm.
Speaker 5 (23:25):
I'm licking the plate. It hits the palate roughly.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
It is an angry run to the palate, the stiff
arm to my my tongue at eight thirty in the morning.
Speaker 13 (23:35):
Okay, hontage tater to hottage.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
There was relish in it. I didn't even eat it.
I hate relish. That's how bad it was. By Kyle's
well done too.
Speaker 5 (23:47):
Oho. Oh, we're talking about tie.
Speaker 4 (23:50):
Okay, so that was Jamie's segment. Let's take this thing
to Kyle's segment.
Speaker 10 (23:56):
What was the name of the Angry Run segment in London?
Speaker 6 (24:01):
All right?
Speaker 10 (24:01):
Who was the winner? I'm sorry of the Anger Runs.
Sorry n the Anger Runs segment in London.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
Oh, I'm sure I'm gonna I remember we did the
show in London right in front of the Tower Bridge,
and I remember that there was a crazy thing that
happened in the middle of Anger Runs involving one of
the ladies who was watching the segment from the general public.
I hope that's not on the cliff, but we'll find
out shortly. I do remember this.
Speaker 5 (24:25):
I think let me see the winner in London.
Speaker 3 (24:31):
I feel like I just wrote a British profanity on
my board. But we're gonna and I'm I'm gonna do
the odds or ever in my favor. I'm gonna call it.
Did you call it like chofed Gent or something? Angry
runs choff Gent? And did there Derrek Henry win it?
Because he wins them all the time?
Speaker 1 (24:44):
Okay, so see that's great, you play the averages.
Speaker 6 (24:48):
No.
Speaker 5 (24:48):
I think it was called bloody mift, bloody myft run.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
And I think the winner was Cordarol Patterson, who was
just in the news the other day, unfortunately, but I
love Corderoll. I think it's bloody mift in Corderyl, And
I wonder if the crazy thing that happened in that
segment is about to be in this clip and the
winner is the shutout continues to Dallas cowboys that still
never want accept it.
Speaker 4 (25:10):
Since is going to the Atlanta Falcon.
Speaker 5 (25:14):
You did its, We love you. In this segment, we
don't listen to Oasis.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
We always look back in anger yngry runs boom see
back in the States, thank you, oh.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
My god, and that is angry runs lady and gentlemen, bloody.
Speaker 12 (25:29):
Run runs.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
Three too mile that wow?
Speaker 5 (25:37):
Three two?
Speaker 2 (25:38):
K I wonder where that woman is to say, Kyle,
go ahead.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
Yeah, we just saw like the PG rated version of
that segment. I guess I can say it now, Like
there was a woman there who was like, I don't know,
seventy five years old or something, and she and I
kissed on the mouth in the middle of the segment.
It was an unbelievable riturned the video. It did happen though, Yeah, yeah, okay, guys.
Last question, you guys ready, it's three two?
Speaker 5 (26:04):
Are we double pointing this KB? Yeah? Absolutely?
Speaker 6 (26:08):
Two points?
Speaker 4 (26:09):
Come on, ja good good vibes.
Speaker 6 (26:12):
We go all right.
Speaker 4 (26:13):
Last question?
Speaker 9 (26:14):
What body part did Kyle say he injured after Tyrie
Wilson lifted him in the air during practice during draft
hug practice.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
So, uh so, Tyrie Wilson came to the studio condor
I believe his nickname is, and Kyle teaed him up
to say, when the commissioner calls your name and crossed
the stage, how are you going to embrace this man?
Kyle played the role of the commissioner and Tyrie did
just on Savory things to Kyle during this hug.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
And I think he said I injured my Oh my gosh.
Speaker 1 (26:52):
He lifted me up like I was an American girl doll,
like just scooped me up like it was nothing.
Speaker 5 (26:58):
The video is so fun to watch.
Speaker 4 (27:00):
Okay, we have it, Jamie, Jamie, Jamie trying to get her.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
But this is not this is wrong. But I kind
of wanted to write it anyways, because it's fun to say.
Did you say it injured your larynx?
Speaker 4 (27:11):
Larynx?
Speaker 5 (27:13):
I loved I wish I wish it was larynx.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
I think it's a lumbar vertebrae, like it was a
lower back scoop.
Speaker 14 (27:19):
It might be spleen or.
Speaker 1 (27:20):
Pancreas or something, but I think it's Lombard vertebrae. It's
a really I felt like a little baby. Guys, wait,
do you see this? Let's see the answer.
Speaker 5 (27:27):
How are we doing? Cardinals fans? All right, let him
hear you.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
With a new three pick in the twenty twenty three
NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals select Tyree Wilson outside line
exist tex.
Speaker 12 (27:49):
Yes, he did it, you made it.
Speaker 5 (27:51):
Give him the.
Speaker 14 (27:56):
My lombard.
Speaker 4 (27:58):
Oh, it's a powerful man.
Speaker 6 (28:00):
Little the crap bells, the cigarette.
Speaker 12 (28:07):
I will give you the win.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
However, I feel like we're both right because you say
your lumbar was in your throat, and isn't your throat
your larynx kind of like.
Speaker 1 (28:14):
I feel that we both have absolutely absolutely Wow, that's great.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
Four or three Kyle, God, thank you.
Speaker 6 (28:24):
Great job.
Speaker 4 (28:25):
Guys.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
That was a look back.
Speaker 4 (28:26):
I gotta say.
Speaker 9 (28:27):
I gotta say, I am very jealous because of all this,
all the places that this show has been.
Speaker 4 (28:31):
I feel like we were out of the loop, you
know what I mean. I wish we went on all this.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
You've got to get practice, reps.
Speaker 3 (28:37):
Up, you got to get footage on tape, and you
have to have no shame, and you have to be
able to eat anything on television.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
That is the name of the game.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
Top for GMFBO Kyle, giddy up. Let's have another hell
of the season, shall we? With our new friends at
the table?
Speaker 5 (28:49):
Yes, ma'am, Yes, ma'am.
Speaker 2 (28:52):
All eyes on the hall.
Speaker 3 (28:53):
We are just days away from the twenty twenty five
Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and our next
guest on GMFB is returning to Ohio this year as
both a former teammate of this one of this year's
in ductye and as a Hall of Famer himself, Please
welcome our friend of the show, a Kids City Chiefs legend,
twelve time pro bowler, Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
God well, shan go.
Speaker 6 (29:13):
That's how you guys doing.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
We're great, so good to see you.
Speaker 3 (29:16):
We are interrupting you packing your bag for Canton, Ohio.
You are headed there this weekend to witness your former
teammate and I assume great friend, Jared Allen and his
induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
Your thoughts when you heard that he was going in.
Speaker 6 (29:30):
We're excited.
Speaker 15 (29:30):
I mean, the cool thing about it is to see
Jared from when he was a rookie and then as
he started to progress.
Speaker 6 (29:36):
There's a lot of stories I can tell you about Jared,
but we won't share those on here.
Speaker 15 (29:40):
But he's one of those guys very excited about it.
He's a great player. We had a good time, you know,
especially when he was in the locker room. We missed
him when he was gone, but I enjoyed watching him
grow and become that player that you know, basically dominated
everywhere he went.
Speaker 9 (29:57):
Well, well, tell us, I know you Ken you said
you didn't want to share some of them, But are
there some of those memories on the field or in
the locker room that really separated him in made him
stand out?
Speaker 6 (30:05):
Oh, most definitely.
Speaker 15 (30:06):
I mean he was one of those guys that sort
of walked by the old beat of his own drum
and everything else. And on the field, man, he just
played hard all snaps and tried to make it happen,
which was really cool. I'll tell you one thing. He
was one of those guys that actually had a back
in the day Dukes of Hazard Boss Hogged mobile. He
actually had the white bar with the big horns on
(30:27):
it and everything else, and he would actually drive it
in for game there.
Speaker 10 (30:31):
Man, will what I'm about to say is absolute insanity.
For those who are listening at home. You played fourteen
seasons in Kansas City and never missed a game, two
hundred and twenty four consecutive games.
Speaker 5 (30:44):
Wow, listen.
Speaker 10 (30:45):
Yeah, First of all, absolutely say in the trenches, how
in the heck were you able to sustain such a
career and during that time and not miss any time?
Speaker 15 (30:54):
Well, you know, part of his craziness, that's part of
the factor of it all. But I had a good
team around me. They you know, they kept you healthy
and kept you doing things during the off season. And
I had a great, great staff that sort of you know,
picked the super glue and put me back together even
even weeksly didn't think you were going to play, and
that made a big difference.
Speaker 1 (31:13):
Well, you blocked for so many fantastic players. But some
of the things we like to do here in Good
Morning Football is remind young people that there were incredible
players that they may not be familiar with. And if
you are watching and not familiar with Priest Holmes back
in the day, this dude did crazy things every single week.
Speaker 5 (31:33):
What do you remember about playing with Priest number thirty one?
Speaker 6 (31:35):
You know at that point he even real quiet wonder man.
Speaker 15 (31:38):
He was a guy we didn't know a loud about
when he first came in and you know, coaching the
mill until we played the Washington.
Speaker 6 (31:44):
Game, we didn't know that. Man.
Speaker 15 (31:46):
We had this special guy in the backfield and he
was one of those guys. It's like, Prease, why do
you run so hard?
Speaker 6 (31:51):
What do you do things?
Speaker 15 (31:51):
He's like, Hey, I'm just trying to give us to
the playoffs as fast as we can, so we can
try to win those Super Bowl and he had a
chip on his shoulder, especially I think when he had
that injury that happened, you know, and he still they
went to the super Bowl the year he was injured.
Speaker 6 (32:05):
He wanted to see if he could get his own ring,
and that's one thing he kept that purpose.
Speaker 3 (32:09):
Well, you have so many important line items on your resume.
Of course, the Walter Bateman of the Year Award all
those consecutive starts, which is absolutely incredible, but one that
you missed out on only because it's new to be
announced by the NFL.
Speaker 2 (32:22):
Is the Protector of the Year Award, which will now
go to.
Speaker 3 (32:25):
The league's best offensive lineman. Can you fill us more
in about this new award and what role you're going
to play in picking the winner.
Speaker 6 (32:33):
Man, we are so excited about this.
Speaker 15 (32:35):
We actually did an award for us big guys that
get to push people around. But what's really even cooler
about it is that it's actually voted on by other
old linemens. So we got our own little group of
guys together that we're going to get a chance to
watch film and put the matrix together to say, hey,
who's the best lineman in the NFL.
Speaker 6 (32:54):
And actually get a chance to honor them and show
what they do and give them.
Speaker 15 (32:58):
That love of the guys that sort of make things
happen on the day to day and they do it quietly.
Speaker 6 (33:03):
We want to bring him out in the four right
and say, hey, this.
Speaker 15 (33:05):
Is what we want you guys to do, and we
get a chance to sort of, you know, tweak it
a little bit and see how well.
Speaker 6 (33:11):
We can get things done on the day to day
for our big guys. You know.
Speaker 9 (33:14):
Well, talking about a group that's gotten a lot of
love under coach Andy Reid, the Chiefs have gotten a
lot of love and have consistently been one of the
biggest threats in the NFL. What is it for you
that makes them such a tough opponent? And maybe is
there somebody that you think could be the biggest threat
going into this year?
Speaker 6 (33:31):
Well, you know, I think it has something to do
with that kid fifteen.
Speaker 15 (33:34):
So I had the chance to watch him at practice
on Monday, and I'm telling you, it's a whole different
vibe when he's on the field compared to anyone else,
and he commands what everyone else needs to do and
have to do, and those guys believe in him. And
that makes a big difference. And I think that you know,
across the board, the AFC West is going to be
tough dealing with across the board. Well, you have Denver
(33:56):
that's been given us, given us all kinds of hard
times over the last couple of years, and I think
there's a couple of different teams that's going to be
able to stand up. And of course anytime they'll play
Baltimore or Buffalo, you're you're in for a tough game.
So I think those are the three, you know, three
little things that we're going to have to deal with.
Take it one, you know, of course, our favorite thing,
one game at the time, one snap any time and
(34:16):
make it happen, and it'll it'll definitely be a fun year.
Speaker 10 (34:19):
Will As a member of the Hall of Fame, I
can imagine that there's a lot of things that you
remember about the induction ceremony that you are a part of,
with all the emotions and all the things going on,
all the family there, all your teammates. What's one thing
that you hope that the twenty twenty five class really
hones in on and absorbs that you may have missed
(34:40):
during your time when you're in getting inducted.
Speaker 6 (34:42):
Well, I think the one thing about it is when
you're going in, it's such a blur.
Speaker 15 (34:46):
You're doing so much, You're going from one place to another,
You're trying to figure out what's next. I think one
thing of it is is, you know, take that ten
minutes to sit and observe all the people that have
done things to get you here.
Speaker 6 (35:01):
And I think that's the most important part. Just you
know you're able to now.
Speaker 15 (35:04):
Celebrate with not only your high school coach, to your
college coach, to your pee wee coach, as well as
family members.
Speaker 6 (35:12):
You know, make sure you take that time to just
sit and enjoy it and understand that.
Speaker 15 (35:17):
This is one time in your life and we'll have
all those different people from all the different areas of
your life together in one place that's celebrating what they've
done to help you get to where you are.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
It's so special, man, and I love how you're sharing
this with us. Will It's John Madden once famously said
that the bus in Canton talk to each other at
night when the lights go off and everybody goes home,
And this is true. Who is your bust talking to
and what are you guys talking about.
Speaker 15 (35:44):
You know, my buss is hugely talking to Willie Roolves,
giving him a hard time because he came out at
the same time be in Aligneman. So we talked a
little trash between each other about what we're trying to
do and where we're trying to go.
Speaker 6 (35:55):
But I think those would be the two.
Speaker 15 (35:57):
And then, of course there's a question answer for me,
it would be asking all the older guys what did
they do, how did they do it?
Speaker 6 (36:03):
And how can we get that?
Speaker 15 (36:05):
Because they've been there a lot longer than I have,
So I want to know, you know, what's the next stage?
Speaker 3 (36:10):
You know, will I started this interview by saying that
we interrupted you packing your bag just because I assumed
that the Hall of Fame sends you a marble slate
to keep in your home.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
And have it as a zoom backdrop. But are you
already in camp?
Speaker 6 (36:25):
I'm in camp right now, you know, I'm down here.
Speaker 4 (36:27):
We came in.
Speaker 15 (36:28):
I came in yesterday and we did a camp kids
camp last night. So I came in a little bit early,
get a little head start, but also get a chance
to hang out with some young people and you know,
let them show me how to do it, because you know,
my whole bumps can't do that anymore and run around
loops and hoots and hits things.
Speaker 3 (36:45):
Now those young kids get to say they get to
hang out with the Hall of Famer. That's so cool,
Will Shield's awesome to have you on GMB. Enjoy the
weekend and being celebrated once again as you deserve to be.
Speaker 6 (36:54):
Thank you, guys, well.
Speaker 3 (36:57):
Thanks well feel it or there he is when he
went in, and now Jared Allen and the class.
Speaker 6 (37:02):
Will go in this weekend.
Speaker 14 (37:15):
Good morning football.
Speaker 16 (37:18):
Well, some news this morning coming out of Baltimore. NFL
Network insider Ian Rappaport reporting tight end Isaiah Likely is having.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
Surgery to fix a broken bone.
Speaker 12 (37:27):
In his foot.
Speaker 16 (37:28):
He's expected to miss about six weeks. Could be ready
though for Week one against the Bills. Certainly a blow,
but he is an important piece to this offense. Man TI,
but gonna be tough if he is out. How do
they handle this kind of rehab and being out like
that man.
Speaker 4 (37:44):
Day by day? Share day by day?
Speaker 2 (37:46):
No, don't do for us.
Speaker 9 (37:48):
No, no, It's like I had I broke my foot
my rookie year in the NFL. They didn't know how
bad it was until I got surgery.
Speaker 6 (37:54):
At the end.
Speaker 9 (37:54):
The only thing that I could think about is like, Man,
I'm going to make sure that day by day I
get my training, I get my workouts, and I get
my rehab, and I just put myself in the best
possible position to be my best self.
Speaker 4 (38:04):
You don't have X ray bus, you don't know what's
down there, and so you get a fixed. So luckily
for him, he has it done early in the season,
so we'll see. I'm hopeful. I'm hopeful Lamar does.
Speaker 16 (38:13):
Have enough weapons.
Speaker 3 (38:13):
I just go, Jamie, don't give us that day by
day we're going to You're at the table to be different.
Kyle Brand called himself an omnipotent figure in trivia, so.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
I'm going to use that phrase once again.
Speaker 3 (38:25):
We got to pick the topic. We played GMFB show Trivia.
It was Me vers Kyle Carl one four to three. However,
I am going for two. We have a Hail Mary,
last ditch attempt. I this is a two point shot.
Apparently we have unearthed of all the years doing the
show together. One more clip. Mantha's got the question closest to.
Speaker 5 (38:44):
The pin and this is for the win closest to
the pin.
Speaker 9 (38:46):
All right, ready, guys, how long did Kyle hug Michael
Harmeyer when playing Pick of Destiny?
Speaker 2 (38:54):
Okay, Kyle, Michael Harmier.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
Is Michael Harmier is an incredible Good Morning Football staffer
for years and years and years from day one and
twenty sixteen in New York City here, and we did
a segment where we announced draft picks out on the
streets of New York.
Speaker 5 (39:09):
It's a beautiful thing we used to be able to do.
Speaker 1 (39:11):
And I came out and I pretended that he was
the commissioner, and I hugged him for a long time.
Speaker 5 (39:15):
The question is how long? How long long?
Speaker 2 (39:19):
I'm going to guess.
Speaker 3 (39:20):
On April thirteenth, twenty twenty three, Kyle hugged Harmier aka
the man who was dressed as the pickle during Pickle
Picks for thirteen seconds.
Speaker 6 (39:29):
Was it a Friday?
Speaker 9 (39:29):
Jami heard ALS's thirteen second Kyle Brandt, This is interesting
because I went twelve.
Speaker 5 (39:40):
I'm really going it longer.
Speaker 15 (39:43):
With the fourteenth pick in the twenty twenty three NFL Draft,
the New England Patriots select Kyle Brandt running back Princeton.
Speaker 4 (39:56):
Cool people wicked one.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
Oh they got there the hotel hug time.
Speaker 6 (40:06):
Come on.
Speaker 5 (40:06):
Look at you, mot of mine, come on.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
A dream go for Kyle Brand.
Speaker 12 (40:11):
So originally right out carry it was over, it.
Speaker 8 (40:24):
Was over, it was over.
Speaker 6 (40:29):
That's awesome.
Speaker 12 (40:32):
Laugh for a girl, Kyle.
Speaker 3 (40:36):
Man, Kyle, I'm going to bug you for thirty seven
seconds time.
Speaker 4 (40:42):
Oh mae.
Speaker 5 (40:46):
Ad Guys. First of all, I just missed Michael Harmyer.
Speaker 6 (40:51):
I do.
Speaker 1 (40:52):
I just remember getting in there. It's like, you know,
it feels good to you know, just get some action.
That said's incredible, incredible, incredible. First time in my life
has lasted too long. I love you, Michael Harmer wherever
you are.
Speaker 4 (41:04):
The reaction from the people outside was awesome.
Speaker 6 (41:08):
Is going on.
Speaker 3 (41:08):
Yeah, we used to make people very uncomfortable on the streets.
Speaker 2 (41:10):
Of New York.
Speaker 1 (41:11):
Kyle.
Speaker 3 (41:11):
What I am specifically concerned about is why it was
so easy for us to unearth so many segments in
