Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Good Morning Football. Welcome inside, everybody. We're live in LA
and New York this morning.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
Kyle brand John Robinson, Isaiah standback.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
I'm Jamie art All.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
Kyle, final day with your new best buddy, John Robinson
sitting there, former NFL executive.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
How's a friendship ruined between you two?
Speaker 4 (00:26):
You know what we need?
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Like some some mozzarella sticks or something, or some wings,
like we just hang out and we just chat like
you feeling it.
Speaker 5 (00:32):
Yeah, it's been great. I mean we're having a black
over here, probably a little early for wings. I like
a good wing. But yeah, we need something.
Speaker 4 (00:40):
Let's get some breakfast burritos. I don't know anything. It's
a hang here, Jamie, as it should be. A Good
Morning Football. Let's start the show. We all kinds of stuff,
talk about La New York.
Speaker 6 (00:49):
Here we go never to really football.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
The sun hasn't even come up here in Los Angeles.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
It's GMFB.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Everybody and Kyle Brandt was just talking about fried appetizers.
I must go around the table real quick. You're sitting
at your favorite chain restaurant that has a fried appetizer
menu and a lot of options. What is your go
to selection? Mine would be the mazzarella stick.
Speaker 7 (01:22):
Isaiah, I got to go with the wings, all right, all.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
Right, go ahead, yah Wings.
Speaker 5 (01:29):
Yeah, I'm a wings guy too, Isaiah. I'm right there
with you.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
I'll go with the loaded potato skins, the cheese and
the bacon and the chives and you just burn the
but Jesus out of your mouth.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
But it's a lot of food and I like that.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
And the dipage in the sour cream. And if the
sour cream season, it's even better. Here we go talking
about being a seasoned player in the NFL, then you
know a thing or two about your rookie quarterback. We're
going to start with the Tennessee Titans. We're doing three
and out here to start the show on GMFB. Calvin
Ridley water to see for the Titans is liking what
he is seeing from the first overall pick taken in
(02:00):
the NFL draft, cam Ward, his quarterback.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
You came to my house before my brother and met him.
The first thing that he said at the level is like, man,
just you know, he just ain't just calm.
Speaker 8 (02:10):
He relaxed. So I mean, you need that at.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
The quarterback position.
Speaker 5 (02:13):
Man, you can't be just can't just be an overthinker,
jittery guy.
Speaker 9 (02:17):
You just got to kind of you know, be okay
with you know, uh, you know, doing good and.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
You know, just just got to have that get mentality kind.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
Of and he kind of got that, got to have
that kind of mentality. He's calm, he's president, he's the
number one overall pick, and after wearing three different college jerseys,
he's wearing that number.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
One for the Tennessee Titans. John, I'll go to you first.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
What are expectations do you think for cam Ward entering
this season in Tennessee.
Speaker 5 (02:42):
Yeah, right now, he's just trying to familiarize himself with
an offense. Right there's new terminology, there's new language, there's
new teammates. You know, they've they've retooled the offensive line
with you know, with Dan Moore at left tackle, signing
him in free agency, Zeitler in free agency. They're moving
Latham over the right tackle. So he and he's trying
to get you know, there on page with those guys,
on the same page with those guys, get the chemustry
(03:04):
between the receivers, you know, the timing of the rounds,
all of that stuff, learning the terminologies, the checks, all
of that stuff. But I think you know, expectations are
you you want to take first and foremost. You're going
to take care of football, right. You want to try
to put the offense in an advantageous position by taking
care of the football. If it's not there, take what
the defense gives you, keep the offense moving, and try
(03:25):
to end up putting in a position to score points.
Speaker 8 (03:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
I agree.
Speaker 7 (03:29):
I mean, you talk about an offense that was at
the bottom of the league. These guys are at the
bottom of the league and total offensive production bottom of league,
and passing yards, bottom of the league in touchdowns.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
So you know, I think about.
Speaker 7 (03:40):
I get a visual I'm a visual guy, so I
get a visual of like the Bob Sled team.
Speaker 4 (03:43):
You remember, remember you remember the boss?
Speaker 7 (03:45):
Yeah, okay, so when we started talking about the boss
of the team, there's a dude named Sonka right off there
for Team Jamaica, and they struggled just trying to get
Sonca to get in the dog gun in the Bob Sled.
Speaker 4 (03:54):
Right, So you're a cool running running.
Speaker 8 (03:58):
For the box.
Speaker 7 (03:58):
Yeah, so cool running soccer out there just trying to
get that thing going, and they spent so much time
just trying to get in the Once they got in
the boss lit, then they gets start working on strategy
and trying to get this thing down there for some
actual speed. That's what the Tennessee Titans are trying to
do right now. They are just trying to get in
the bobs. Later, once they get in, then they guns
start fine tuning it. But right now and where they've been,
they've been at the bottom of the league. So they
(04:19):
just got to find a way to get this thing
rolling and then they can start working on production and
how are they going to look versus the rest of
the league?
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Cool running is.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
My audio dropped out, so I didn't hear the questions,
so I was just going to pick it up from
the lower third. Expectations for Shador Sanders rookie season, Well,
Shador was drafted really late.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
It was surprised by everybody. But I don't know if
you saw this.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Shador was seven of nine passing and many camp say
for the Brownsie threw three touchdowns. So Shadur is going
to be great. And Shaduur and Shaduur and Shaduur guys
I can't believe we actually see the words cam word
on the bottom of a television screen, any television screen.
Are they even covering him in local Tennessee media? Is
the Nashville local media outlets covering cam warder? Are they
(05:00):
just talking Shador too? I cannot believe someone has not
pulled the plug yet we're talking about.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
Him, his expectations.
Speaker 8 (05:06):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
It's probably incredible because he's the most gifted quarterback. He's
the best quarterback by far in a draft that had
several quarterbacks. There was not even a single second of
debate about who should go number one. And we'll debate
anything about the draft, and yet that number one pick.
The consensus of all consensuss is like, eh, I don't know,
slow start. Maybe he gets four or five wins this year.
(05:28):
I hope he goes seventeen. And oh, I don't care.
I hope he's in the super Bowl. There's no bigger
fan than me. I can't believe we're still out. No
one's coming with the Shepherd took and pulled me off
the area yet to stop talking about cam Ward. So
I appreciate the question, But Shadoor is going to be
a superstar. His dad is Dion Sanders. He played at Colorado,
he played with Travis Hunter. He's going to be amazing
for Cleveland. That's the most important thing to think about
(05:50):
cam Ward. I'm still relieved that when Commissioner Goodell read
the number one pick and say the Tennessee Titans select
Cam Sanders a quarterback, it never happened that way. I
heard a rumor that if you go on NFL shop
dot com and order a Cam Warders, they send you
a Shador Sanders jersey from the Browns. So it's all true,
and I just think it's we should really focus more
(06:10):
on Shador, never mind the number one overall pick.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Why are you so bothered by this?
Speaker 3 (06:14):
This has been brewing for you, and that was a
wonderful stage that you just stood on and spout it.
But you have been building on this for a while, Kyle.
Why is this so triggering for you?
Speaker 1 (06:22):
I mean, it's well passed brewing, Jamie, It's overflowing lava
on the floor.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
Listen.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
The NFL draft went from a football thing this year
to a ridiculous, asonine media story in which I really
mean it.
Speaker 4 (06:37):
Cam Ward's name is two syllables.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
And when Roger Goodell said, cam everyone should start screaming
about Shador. We didn't even get through the full name
and now the treatment afterwards. It's just like I've never
seen less attention ever in my life on a number
one overall pit quarterback.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
Ever.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Eric Fisher, the lineman from Central Michigan went number one overall.
He got talked about more than this incredible quarterback for Miami.
So I've been soap boxing this for a long time.
I'll continue to do it. But I love that we
have that logo and that name the bottom of the screen.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
And it won't be the.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
Last time we had a slingshot on the show. Last hour,
and I'm surprised by the time that was done. John
didn't have a hook to get Kyle off the screen.
Just right, just stop talking about the history Titan.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
I know he got there.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
We talked about expectation for cam Ward's rookie season, okay
and scene. The Jets also have a new quarterback, they
signed Justin Fields earlier this year, and their new head coach,
Aaron Glenn, thinks the ceiling is high for the former
first round pick.
Speaker 10 (07:36):
He has this quiet confidence about himself. He leads by
the way that he wants to lead, all right, his
influence with the guys out there. I think you guys
can see it. He can galvanize a group of men
listen to. Obviously, he's a talented player, and I'm happy
that I have him as my quarterback. I really am,
because I think I think the sky's the limit for
this player.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
I really do. Listen.
Speaker 10 (07:56):
I'm not going to go out there and say that
he's the next Joe Name or anything like that, but
I will tell you what, man, He's gonna be a
good player for us, and I'm excited what he's gonna do.
Speaker 4 (08:04):
Was the season all.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
Right, from the Bears to the Stealers, now to the Jets,
Justin Fields has some potential, at least if you ask
Aaron Glenn, that's what he thinks. John, What do you
think of what Justin Fields can make of this opportunity
with the Jets.
Speaker 5 (08:17):
Yeah, I actually love what Aaron said right there, right because,
I mean, you can see the talent and the skill
that Justin had when he came out of Ohio State.
You can see it in spurts with Chicago and with Pittsburgh.
What he can do on the field physically, but the
ability to galvanize the huddle.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
Right.
Speaker 5 (08:38):
It's one thing as a quarterback when you get the
play called to step in the huddle and just start
spouting off words. It's another thing to get the other
ten guys that are standing there looking at you in
the eye to believe that that play is going to work,
that that play is going to get us closer to
the end zone, that that play is going to put
us in the end zone. There's like a moxie that
(08:59):
you have to have to be a really good quarterback
to be a winning quarterback, to get guys to believe
then what the play is called and put that onnest
on them to go do their job to the best
of their ability to help the team try to score
points and win the football game.
Speaker 7 (09:13):
Yeah, John, you talk about the ability to step in
the huddle. That's a real thing. Right with everything he
just explained is absolutely correct. When you step in there,
you have to have a command, right. You talk about
the presidence, You talk about the ownership of those ten
men men that are looking at you. Because you are
giving them the directions, you're giving them their responsibilities for
that particular play. They have to know that they have
confidence in you. You have to know that you have
(09:33):
confidence in yourself, and I think that I believe that
he has never had any doubt in his abilities, right.
It's always been just a consistency of his production. And
he has to go out there and prove that this
year with the Jets for the first time, you know,
really in his career outside of just.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
His Chicago experience.
Speaker 8 (09:53):
He is the man.
Speaker 7 (09:54):
He's the man. He's not looking over his shoulder, he's
not worried about who's coming up behind him. Everybody is
looking at him to be the leader. So to Aaron
Glenn's point, AG's sitting over they're talking about he has
command of this team. These guys believe in him. He's
going to be good for us. I don't care what
he's been for the other organizations. For what we're doing
and for what we need to get done out there
in the field. He's our guy, and I look forward
(10:14):
to seeing what he's going to do. As long as he,
hey coach, has confidence, as long as his teammates have confidence.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
Then we all we're just sitting back and waiting.
Speaker 8 (10:20):
M h.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
I'm I'm a ground floor Justin Field's guy. I've always
liked the way handles his business. I like that he
never says squad, he works hard, he credits his teammates,
all that. I'm just gonna pick my spot here. There's
a lot of things right now that trigger people. The
we talked about keeping stats in mini camps and all
I am so sick of the Oh my god, what
are you guys doing?
Speaker 8 (10:39):
See should do it?
Speaker 4 (10:40):
No wonder Jay robbing laughing. Just leave it there.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Just get that tattooed to the show, not some like
Hannah tattoo, not some ruboff. Leave it there in perpetuity
from now until Shador Sanders accepts his gold jacket in Canton, Ohio,
five years after he retires. His dad gives the speech,
it's going to be moving, It's going to be incredible.
Never mind that all these other quarterbacks, cam Ward even
is on team he made Dylan Gabriel went on to
(11:05):
incredible pro careers. I like that it says it three times,
and then there's a little ellipsis afterwards, meaning we're going
to talk about this more and more and more.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
And believe me, we as a show are the least.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
Of your concerns as the NFL consumer. We only dip
our toe in. There are other options that can talk
about it way more. Somehow we got to get Shador
Sanders on the Lakers, and we got to get him
on the Knicks. Somehow we end up a cowboy and
then that's all we can talk about. The s in
some network stands for Shador and we do our best.
And when he's starting and when he's a viable player
(11:39):
that matters whatsoever to the NFL product, then we'll talk
more about Shador. Until then, I'll save my Justin Fields
take for another time.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
Sure you know what you were about to go in
on this, Okay, we shall move on to Tampa Bay.
Then we're going to talk Tobbles, Justin Fields, Schadure cam
Word Now to Tampa and Baker Mayfield. Tobbles said that
he and his quarterback are more similar than you would think.
Speaker 9 (12:03):
Bakers probably if I was an outward personality, Baker would
be the guy I probably would be. So we have
more in common than you really think. He just shows
a little more. I probably wouldn't have did the Tommy DeVito,
but the same time, I could think it, but he
does think so. I think we're kind of interconnected that way,
(12:26):
and we're kind of just praternal twins sort of.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
Forraternal twins Todd Bowles and Baker Mayfield. Baker Mayfield is
Todd Bowles intrusive thoughts isaca is the translation for that
as well?
Speaker 2 (12:38):
Isaiah? Would we make of this? Knowing Todd Bowles a
great coach in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
But as he said, if he had an outgoing personality,
which like, that's not coach's styles. So, Isaiah, what we
got on Baker and Todd?
Speaker 4 (12:49):
You know what?
Speaker 7 (12:49):
I know Todd Bowles had that one of our coaches
out there at Dallas back in the day. I think
Todd Tom Bowles has buried his Baker Mayfield deep down
the side and bound to never bring it up again.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
But I think that Tom Bowles is a very confident person.
Speaker 8 (13:02):
Right.
Speaker 7 (13:03):
He doesn't do a whole lot of talking, but he's confident.
He's about his business, and I think that on the inside,
whenever his defense goes out there, it makes plays. He
is probably visually doing exactly what you see Baker Mayfield doing.
So when he says that they're fraternal twins, I think
that is exactly what he's referred to.
Speaker 5 (13:18):
Un Yeah, I think that's a great point, Isaiah. We
practiced against the Bucks a couple of times when I
was with the Titans. And uh, and Todd is like
he's got this quiet confidence about him. H. He's not
a yeller or screamer on the field.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (13:32):
He just kind of goes about his business. He's watching
the team. You know, he's coaching the team when it
needs to be coach.
Speaker 8 (13:38):
You know.
Speaker 5 (13:38):
Meanwhile, you know, Baker Mayfield harken back to his college days.
Speaker 4 (13:43):
He's planting the flag in the middle.
Speaker 5 (13:44):
Of the o when they beat Ohio State. Todd probably
has that want that, you know, that want to plant
the flag in the middle of the field somewhere.
Speaker 4 (13:53):
He just doesn't act on it.
Speaker 5 (13:55):
So it's really cool that they have this relationship and
they can play off each other and and and Baker
can be the let the inner Todd bowls come out
through his actions.
Speaker 4 (14:05):
And it really has Todd's loosened up last couple of years.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
He said funny things. He breaks up the press conference
room sometime. Give me back this side by sides. I
want to do an examination if we buy that these
guys are in any way twins. If we see the
side by sides and the left and right of Todd
Bowles and Baker maythe all right.
Speaker 4 (14:22):
So let's just go to the box score. Okay.
Speaker 1 (14:25):
On the right, you have a sixty something New Jersey
native who went.
Speaker 4 (14:29):
To college in Philadelphia.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
On the left, you have a thirty year old from
Austin who went to college in Texas and Oklahoma.
Speaker 4 (14:35):
Bowles was a cornerback. Baker's a quarterback.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
Bowles was undrafted, Baker's the number one overall pick. Bowles
has three sons. Baker's a girl. Dad Bulls is a scorpio.
Bakers and ares. Other than that, I see it perfectly aligned.
You can't even tell them apart. There's a few things
that's spit in the wind of this comparison, but otherwise
it lines up beautifully. And Todd Bowles, I love that
you're showing your personality.
Speaker 4 (14:56):
Baker.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
I think, top to bottom, one of the best, if
not the best, dude in the entire league. I love Baker,
and I'm starting to love Todd Bowles even more.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
If you had this guy, this Todd Bowles, who's a
defensive head coach, and you have the number one overall
pick at the quarterback.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
We just got done last hour talking about the Cowboys
and how it might not be.
Speaker 3 (15:12):
That important for Brian Schottenneimer and Micah Parsons to be,
you know, best buddies all the time. But now you
have Todd Bowles just waxing poetic about Baker Mayfield. Gridys,
that's got to be pretty cool to see guys that
don't have to get along that well, and Todd Bowles
is out there on a limb just campaigning for his quarterback.
Speaker 5 (15:30):
Yeah, it's great because, I mean we're talking about the
most important position in sports, right, quarterback.
Speaker 8 (15:34):
Right.
Speaker 5 (15:34):
We talked about it earlier this week on the show,
the head coach and the quarterback. That relationship, it's paramount
that that. You know that that's a good one, and
it sounds like they've got a great one down in Tampa.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
So how does the dynamic change.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
Let's say Bulls and Baker are in the room hanging out,
and then the door busts open and here comes general
manager Jason lytton his ac DC T shirt and he's
got it all sunburned and everything, and he comes in.
How does the dynamic change then? Because the Tampa Bay
crew is wild.
Speaker 4 (15:59):
Oh they're great.
Speaker 5 (16:00):
I mean, Jason Greeney, Mike Beal, all those guys down there,
I wasn't there when Todd was there. He came after me.
But they've got a really really cool working, you know,
dynamic down there with Todd, with Jason, with Greene, with Baker.
It's you're talking about guys that love ball when it
(16:20):
all boils down, they all love being around each other.
They love football and working towards winning the championship and
when it all boils down.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
Each of the last two years, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
have beaten the Philadelphia Eagles, including last year when they
held Saquan in check and Baker went nuts. This question
of like, who's the team that could take out Philadelphia
next year, Tampa Bay should be the number one answer,
not number two, not number three. They are great against
the Eagles, and they have the defensive line to stop
the tush push.
Speaker 4 (16:47):
So we'll talk about that in the fall.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
But I love Tampa This year, John mentioned some practice
from training camps where the Titans practicainst the Bucks. You
also hear it happened with the Jacksonville Jaguars east of
Tampa Lay. It's a team that Travis Hunter went to.
He's a Heisman Trophy winner. I popping plays at Colorado
teammates with Shadur Sanders. After the break, we're going to
see what he's doing in Jacksonville.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
Coyle, what he's up to.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
What Chadur's teammate is up to in Jacksonville.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
Ex When do you say that on the back of
his jersey, Travis Hunter.
Speaker 4 (17:16):
It's not gonna say Hunter.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
It's going to say Chadur Sanders college teammate across the nameplate, and.
Speaker 4 (17:20):
God blessed it. It'll sell like hotcakes.
Speaker 8 (17:23):
All right.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
There's Sean O'Hara getting away with holding. There's the helmet catch.
Isaiah's going to do his best Alan Michaels with his
favorite he did what plays of all time? We love you,
Antonio Freeman. This is gonna be fun. They'll go anywhere.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
Still to come on GMFB. More chaud from training camp.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
There he is, Michael Jordan meets Tom Brady, meets Jesus.
Speaker 8 (17:47):
There he is, good mom football.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
It's my favorite moment in a football game. It means
the confusion, electricity, and the unknown.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
It's going for two and we're.
Speaker 3 (18:10):
Doing that now on GMFB.
Speaker 11 (18:12):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (18:12):
Travis Hunter second overall pick?
Speaker 2 (18:15):
We didn't know it.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
To the Jacksonville Jaguars until moments before, and now he's
showing him his skills on defense. We heard the defensive
coaches are asking Liam Cohen for more time with Travis
Hunter on the defense side of the ball, and that
play would be one of the reasons why. So going
for two, we got two topics here we're going to start.
We're gonna stay in the state of Florida, but we're
going to start in Jacksonville. How hype should we get
(18:37):
over this play, Isaiah? When you see the cell phone
video footage of Travis Hunter popping off on.
Speaker 7 (18:43):
Defense, Well, you guys saw me on the Travis Hunter
hype train yesterday.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
I was I'm standing on the heel.
Speaker 7 (18:49):
I'm standing on business saying that this dude is going
to be one of the premier players in the NFL. Obviously,
not only from what he did in college, but I
just think that he is an athlete who hasn't had
to deal with the business aspect of football. Yees, so
he really just loves playing the game. And this dude
is super talented. What you saw on that film, on
that little footage right there is him playing that sticky defense.
I talked about Gary Payton in the glove earlier. Where
(19:11):
he is that on a defensive side of the ball.
He knows the route concepts, he knows how to get
in and out of their breaks. He's staying on the
hip pocket, finds the ball, breaks it up, and is
able to make a play on it. He's going to
be a problem for anybody's receiver. I don't care one
all the way down to four in the depth chart,
He's going to be in YO nightmares.
Speaker 4 (19:28):
Is it too late to change the Madden cover?
Speaker 1 (19:30):
Like?
Speaker 4 (19:30):
Can we do that?
Speaker 1 (19:31):
Let's get Saquon You had two days on it. Put
Travis Hunter rout. Not only based on that play and
by changing my AFC South champion the Houston Texas, They're out.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
They didn't draft Hunter.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
The Jaguars will win the AFC South based on that play.
I also think that Travis Hunter should right now hold
out for his next contract. I think he should already
be asking for a bigger extension now before he's played
a game. Based on that play, John, I know you're
a lover of talent and raw athleticism like that. That may
be the greatest play in NFL history.
Speaker 5 (19:59):
Tell me I'm wrong, Yeah, I mean, I don't want
to be Debbie Downer here, what on this look? But
if upon further review, what if you really look at
this play?
Speaker 4 (20:09):
Yeah, go on, all right, we're gonna slow it down. Yeah,
let's slow it down.
Speaker 5 (20:12):
So the ball hits reply incomplete right, it's an incomplete path.
Speaker 4 (20:18):
Definitely, the ball hits the ground.
Speaker 5 (20:21):
I'm not saying it's not a great play, but the
ball is on the ground in complete pass right, And
like if you if you go back a little further,
the back judge might actually get a penalty here because
if you look at Travis's left hand, yeah, he's it's
probably on the other it's probably on the other shot.
Like he's tugging the jersey definitely with his left hand.
Speaker 4 (20:44):
The Jacks might regret that draft pick. I'm not I'm not.
They may have got the wrong guy. I don't know.
Speaker 5 (20:48):
Listen, I'm not saying it's not a great play. But
watch the a jersey poll ball, like the jersey stretching.
Speaker 4 (20:54):
Like they might let him. They might let that go.
But look right there, look at the eighth it looks scrunch.
Speaker 8 (21:01):
It is.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
It is penalty like penalty terrible.
Speaker 5 (21:06):
Now, I'll say this, the ability of Travis to get
his head back around when the receivers looking back and
play back through the hands. All great, but it's definitely
incomplete and it's possibly a defensive passengerance.
Speaker 7 (21:23):
Just duck hunting, just all the way down right now,
j John, is.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
This your baseline personality? Like everyone's freaking out about something
and John's like, hold up, let me just give you
a reality Chuck about this? Is this how you operate
your life normally?
Speaker 2 (21:36):
I need to know this about you?
Speaker 8 (21:38):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (21:39):
Probably.
Speaker 5 (21:39):
Yeah. I'm a little bit of an analyzer like that. Yeah,
I mean I just wanted to try.
Speaker 4 (21:44):
You know.
Speaker 5 (21:44):
It's I'm sitting there watching this thing last night and
it's like viral everywhere on every social media. And let me,
first off, I'm not real tech savvy, so let me
figure out how to slow this thing down on X
And I'm starting to slow it down and analyze it,
you know, like they would in the booth. I don't
even know if you have to challenge this one, like
this is just going to be a quick review and
it's at least going to be an incomplete pack.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
I like that Jay Robins on Broadway last night, he's
there watching Wicket.
Speaker 4 (22:08):
He's on his phone watching a replay of Travis.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
Hunter while they're singing popular up there the most talented
people in the world.
Speaker 5 (22:14):
It was during the it was during the interer mish Man.
Everybody's going to John.
Speaker 7 (22:19):
If you're on the other end of the replay assist
and you saw the play and you watched it back,
are you going to say incomplete daddy?
Speaker 2 (22:28):
You didn't catch that daddy on the ground?
Speaker 1 (22:32):
Right?
Speaker 3 (22:35):
Oh man, It's perfect, all right? Jacksonville to Miami to
a Togobayoloa. This has become a trend now with the
quarterbacks that he took over the Oxport on the Dolphins
playlist at OTAs and he went with a throwback vibe
the quarterback did for the Dolphins Orange Jersey playlist.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
Here we go.
Speaker 3 (22:50):
We built this city by Starship. You got Big Papa
by Notorious b I G. Return of the Mark Morrison
and played that bunky music bust.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
A move and then wow, what finished to get all.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
Up with the take on me ridiculous to a tongue
of Ioloa. Bonus edition of Whiteboard Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
Everybody, get your arts and crafts out. Pick your quarterback.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
Now that we know what Kirk Cousins is all about,
you Know it Too. Is all about pick your quarterback
and write your three songs that you think would be
on their playlist. Isaiah Stanbeck has been working on this
thing for a while.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
Also, there we go.
Speaker 7 (23:26):
First, all right, So my quarterback right off the back
is going to be Baker Mayfield. All right, Baker Mayfield.
This is my list right here.
Speaker 4 (23:34):
Number one, All right, Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 7 (23:35):
Then'm my homework on this. Baker Mayfield is a country
song connoisseur. So I'm gonna go with Shaboozie, a bar
song everybody getting tipsy. Then I'm gonna go with Senor
Rita from Justin Timberlake. He is a Justin Timberlake fan,
and when he first met his now wife, she didn't
want nothing to.
Speaker 8 (23:52):
Deal with them.
Speaker 7 (23:52):
So I think that he listened to some game that
Justin Timberlake was putting down and Senior Rita and he
learned how to how to pitch at her.
Speaker 4 (23:59):
And at number three, I'm gonna go with Little John.
I just feel like he's listening.
Speaker 7 (24:03):
To a Little John turned down for what before every
pregame to give himself hyped up.
Speaker 4 (24:06):
So those are my three songs, Little Country, Little j T,
and then Little little John.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
Okay, okay, go ahead, John, let me.
Speaker 4 (24:12):
Follow that, Jay rob your turn quote.
Speaker 5 (24:14):
I'm going out to LA with the Rams and mister
Matt Stafford. Matt's a little bit of an old school guy,
you know. I was with Ben Jones and he played
with Matt at Georgia and Ben was constantly rocking. Pregame
courtesy of the Red, White and Blue. We'll put a
Boot in your Know What by Toby Keith. I want
to go with courtesy of the Red, White and Blue
(24:37):
for number one, number two. I think there's a little
bit of rock in the guy uh bell, Yeah, the
doll you know, the do know. And then then then
we're very ready to get practice going. We're going Hell's
Bells with ac DC. And then once the juice is
really flowing, let's go. We're going trick Daddy. If you
(24:57):
want something, get some know.
Speaker 11 (25:03):
I can't.
Speaker 8 (25:06):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (25:07):
Why do I feel that wasn't the Matthew Stafford that
was the John Robinson playlist.
Speaker 4 (25:10):
I feel like that may.
Speaker 5 (25:12):
Or may not.
Speaker 4 (25:13):
Certainly the first two tracks I know I can tell.
Speaker 8 (25:21):
All right.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
I think you in particular are gonna like mine. All right,
I'm gonna go. I found this player. It's kind of
a deep cut. I don't even know if we have
his name or picture or anything. I'm gonna go with
rookie quarterback cam Ward for the team I think they're
called the Titans, and he went number one overall. So
here's cam Ward on the ox. First thing we're gonna do.
First thing we're gonna do is go to Nelly and
the first Nelly's first song. You think it's gonna be
(25:43):
hot in here, No, it's ah, I am no.
Speaker 4 (25:46):
But what let everybody know, cam Ward, you are number one.
You wear number one. I am number one, no matter
if you like it here, take.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
It, sit down and write it, speak it. That's our
banger they're gonna come out with. Now we're gonna slow
it down a little bit. And Jay Man, I'm looking
in your direction for this. It's the guy who doesn't
get talked about, he doesn't get any love, and at some.
Speaker 4 (26:06):
Point he's just not gonna take it anymore.
Speaker 1 (26:08):
Cam Ward, I am beautiful, no matter what they say.
Christina Aguilera, no one can bring me down. I have worth,
I have inner beauty, I have talents, and we're gonna
no dry eye in the house when he's doing this,
and then number three, we're gonna go to Destiny's Child,
and he says this to everybody in the media, say
(26:29):
my name. You're acting kind of shady and calling me
shadoor with almost looks like the word shady.
Speaker 8 (26:38):
Tell me you love me and say my name. For
God's sake, say his name.
Speaker 7 (26:47):
Say with your chess God, that's what I'm talking about.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
Come on, say, Titans.
Speaker 5 (26:52):
You didn't go all the single ladies there.
Speaker 4 (26:53):
No, but I listen to South. I don't think you're
ready for that, jelly.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
I'm telling you right now, we've been bringing it.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
They just told me to start talking and I had
to finish my yawn because all of us, you and GMFF,
we know what it's like to get the early work in.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
In the morning.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
So to the Tennessee Titans on ironically, we're going to
reference a quarterback cam War during this news segment. He
arrives at the team's facility at five am each day
to prepare for his day. Let's get to know cam
Ward a little bit better, shall we, something he has
done since his college days.
Speaker 12 (27:23):
That's just my process is just how I've always been
in college leaven to now Man It's really just you
know how I get everything in what I need to
get in, whether it's film, treatment wise, just you know,
I got to get everything in to start my day
to end my day. And you know, by whatever time
you know you gotta get you gotta get done.
Speaker 5 (27:41):
Do coach ever tell you go home and go back
to sleep and needs you energized.
Speaker 12 (27:45):
I'm always energized. So I'm playing football, so you know
I'm doing I'm doing what I love and not a
lot of people you know, can do that as well,
so you know I'm one of one percent. It was
blessed to do it. So you know I'm always gonna
have energy and I'm on the field.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
I feel like we could have known that before the draft,
that he's a five am guy, but here we are.
We may not know who the quarterback is yet in
Week one for the Steelers, but it's team is looking
to possibly at whoever it will be, to help the
quarterback out. NFL Network insider Ian Rappaport is reporting free
agent wide receiver Gabe Davis is scheduled to visit Pittsburgh
on Thursday. Davis spent the twenty twenty four season with
(28:17):
the Jaguars, after playing his first four years being a
go to guy in Buffalo for Josh Allen and the
Saints recently partnered with Rebuilding Together New Orleans to help
refurbish the Trinity Community Center in Holy Grove, neighborhood of
New Orleans. Players and coaches worked together to help ensure
the facility remains a safe and welcoming and vibrant resource
(28:39):
for local families in the city.
Speaker 2 (28:43):
We are well.
Speaker 3 (28:44):
Into the off season. We are knee deep, if you will.
We are treading water in the off season.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
So you know what that means.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
It's time for a random top five lists. We have
our reasons why you are going to see sat Quan's
reverse hurdle.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
We have our reasons why.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
Isaiah's going to stand up and say he did what
in Top five moments from NFL history, Isaiah standback lifting,
having the heavy lift.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
In the next segment on GMFB.
Speaker 11 (29:18):
Good Morning Football, hold on, okayve beats one man spends
past another, leaps over a third.
Speaker 8 (29:32):
What oh, I ain't.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
There?
Speaker 4 (29:40):
It is.
Speaker 3 (29:40):
It's a play that is memorialized on the Madden twenty
sixth and it will cover.
Speaker 2 (29:44):
It's the Saquon Barkley.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
Reverse hurdle the leap, now known as one of their
Lombardi Moment moments for.
Speaker 2 (29:51):
The Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
Our own Isaiah Standback now has come up with his
own top five lists in the he did what category? Uh, Isaiah,
you got top five five, four, three, two one. We're
gonna enterg when we have a thought about these, but
take it away NFL history.
Speaker 7 (30:07):
All right, we're going to NFL history, y'all. Now understand this.
There are a gazillion honorable mentions. There have been so
many amazing players that have been in this league, so
many amazing plays offense.
Speaker 4 (30:19):
Defense, special teams.
Speaker 7 (30:20):
There's no way that you can get this thing down
to five. But some way, somehow, I had to create
my list. Right, this is not your list, This is
my list. So I want you guys to go ahead
and on social partake in this. But there's this thing
here called a remote control. And back in the day,
we had this thing called DVR. I'm not sure if
they still have it or not, but every now and
(30:40):
then there was a play that happens that you grab
your remote control and you say, bro, he just did
what And you just got to hit the button to
rewind that thing. You just can't believe it. Let's go
ahead and get to this top list. Number five on
my list. What happens when you mix somewhat of a
Simone biles to, you know, best gymnasts in the world
with the NFL.
Speaker 12 (31:01):
Right by your own ships.
Speaker 4 (31:08):
Oh goodness, this is outstanding. It's one thing to leap
over a guy. It's another thing to finish the flip
on your feet.
Speaker 5 (31:18):
Well, you don't get style points in the NFL, but
that ought to be worth eight.
Speaker 4 (31:22):
Listen. I watched that and I was like, bru he
just did what.
Speaker 7 (31:26):
Ain't no way that he just ran and purposely did
a front flip. Sometimes you get hit and you accidentally flipped. No,
he purposely did a front flip over another grown, professional
human being who gets paid to do his job and
stuck the land Look at this airborne over barely touched up,
stuck the landing, got up and.
Speaker 8 (31:44):
Was like whila magic.
Speaker 4 (31:46):
Listener.
Speaker 7 (31:47):
Shout out to Jerome Simpson for even thinking about pulling
that off and then actually doing it at the highest
level of competition. All right, A lot of times every
single year we look at the combine and everybody wants
to see the forty yard dash and everybody who hasn't
been on the field necessarily doesn't understand the difference.
Speaker 4 (32:02):
Between a four to three in a four to four.
Speaker 7 (32:05):
Well, on this particular play, somebody had an interception and
that individual ran a four to four, but the individual
that was chasing him ran a four to three.
Speaker 4 (32:14):
Let's see exactly what this looks like.
Speaker 8 (32:19):
Just picked up at the gold line. That's Buddha Baker.
Buddha Baker out of the mountain.
Speaker 3 (32:24):
Can Metcalm, crack him down, Canny, chase him down and
he does to shave a touchdown.
Speaker 13 (32:30):
And watch the play here by DK Metcalf. He is
flying down the field. It was unbelievable how much brownd
he made up. Buddha Baker could see him coming in
the big screen. He's looking up at the screen going,
are you kidding me?
Speaker 8 (32:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (32:46):
Everything that he just.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
Said, Bro, what why have your first two plays happened
to the Arizona Cardinals.
Speaker 7 (32:52):
He listened victim oone vicdamone Junior right now, listen, this
is absolutely insane. Buddha Baker is an absolute beast of
a player. Everybody knows that he runs a four four five,
But the guy that was chasing him not only was
the term. And DK Metcalf is a physical specimen. And
when you take somebody who is determined, who is tenacious,
and who just happens to be ten yards behind somebody,
(33:13):
look at him, hawk him down. He's running for forever,
almost one hundred yards. The Buddhabeger's peaks. Wait wait, wait,
wait what right there? That's exactly the face that we're
all making. And you see Buddhegger right there his result
of that absolutely amazing play.
Speaker 4 (33:27):
Now, you guys know, I'm.
Speaker 7 (33:28):
A Seattle guy, and Seattle, there's one of the natural
disasters is an earthquake.
Speaker 5 (33:32):
All right.
Speaker 7 (33:33):
So there's this thing called the seismograph, and usually whenever
the earth starts shaking, right, it shows up on the
Richter scale, you're able to see exactly what's going on. Well,
there was a human being who made a play that
the crowd went so crazy that it showed up on
the seismograph.
Speaker 8 (33:49):
Crowd silent now.
Speaker 4 (33:50):
As opposed to when the Saints have the ball.
Speaker 8 (33:53):
Oh look at this run. What a run.
Speaker 11 (33:56):
Marshawn Lynch's dusty past blockers.
Speaker 8 (34:01):
Now he's dancing his way put a touchdown. That's as
good an.
Speaker 4 (34:08):
Effort as I've ever seen in my life from a
running back.
Speaker 8 (34:11):
Get off me, he said to Tracy Porter, Are you
kidding me?
Speaker 5 (34:17):
What?
Speaker 8 (34:17):
I run? An amazing effort by Marshawn Lynch. Bro What.
Speaker 7 (34:23):
I was on the sideline for that game. I was
actually on the roster for the Seahawks, wasn't necessarily suited
up for that game. But I sat there and I
watched this play. It was a wild card game. Okay,
this game, with this play right here, was to send
them to the next round of the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (34:37):
And he was not going to be stopped.
Speaker 7 (34:39):
Everybody knows Marshawn Lynch is not gonna go down easy.
But when you start throwing grown men out the club
after you've been running after you have human beings hanging
on your angles, and then you still have the gall
to jump up and do it the best poster shoot
next to Michael Jordan.
Speaker 4 (34:54):
It was absolutely insane.
Speaker 7 (34:55):
The crowd went crazy, and forever and ever he would
be known as Beasts Mode because of the beast quake.
Speaker 4 (35:01):
That he created. Now those are three of them, my
bottom three right there. Now we gotta get to the
top two.
Speaker 8 (35:07):
The top two.
Speaker 7 (35:08):
There was this character back in the day called Stretch
Armstrong I don't know some of y'all might remember, but
Stretch Armstrong was somebody that everybody kind of tried to embody.
And when you Mitch stretch Armstrong with the football game,
what do you get?
Speaker 4 (35:23):
And Manning's gonna need one news? Oh there's a flag.
I hated catch?
Speaker 8 (35:29):
How in the little Oh my goodness, insane? How do
you make that catch? This is sick.
Speaker 13 (35:35):
Put this the music. That is absolutely impossible. What he
just did that made the greatest catch I've ever seen.
Speaker 4 (35:43):
In my life. It's in the conversation.
Speaker 7 (35:45):
Wow, listen, bro what I don't understand how he even
got his body there. I'm not sure how he was
able to track the ball. And he is so particular
about following the ball with his eyes. This was not
just throw your hand up and hope that you catch it.
He literally this ball all the way behind his head.
(36:07):
Look at his eyes. He tracked it as far back
as he possibly can. His eyes went to the back
of his head and he was still able to see
the ball, snag it with his six l xal hands,
bring the ball down secure to.
Speaker 8 (36:17):
Catch and get up and let the crowd know. Yeah,
I am that dude.
Speaker 4 (36:22):
Now, if you guys were watching this.
Speaker 7 (36:24):
You guys are probably wondering, if Obj's number two, then
who the heck is number one?
Speaker 4 (36:30):
Yeah? Well, I had to go.
Speaker 7 (36:32):
Deep, deep into the films, all right, the NFL film
There was a gentleman who was a rookie who just
happened to make a play on one of the greatest
safeties of all times hit by the name of Brian Dawkins.
This guy's name Jonathan Baldwin.
Speaker 14 (36:47):
Castle on the play action going up top and all lock,
What a catch, What a grab by the rookie. Jonathan
baldwent and look at Jonathan Ball to reach.
Speaker 5 (37:01):
Around his back, catch this right between numbers, pins it
to his back.
Speaker 4 (37:07):
Holds him and the football down. You won't see a
better catch than that the entire NFL season.
Speaker 7 (37:13):
Wow, not only the entire NFL season, but probably in
the history of everdham.
Speaker 4 (37:19):
Listen up, that was not by chance, That was not luck.
Speaker 8 (37:24):
This was skilled.
Speaker 7 (37:25):
This was him tracking the ball understanding that there was
one of the greatest players ever to play the game
standing between him and what he needed to come down with.
Speaker 8 (37:33):
And he said, this is my mom ass and he
went out there and secure the catch.
Speaker 7 (37:38):
Brad literally caught it and then pinned it against me Dawkins.
And if we watch the end of the play, Brian Dawkins,
he is so confused because he gets up, he doesn't
know whether to touch him, whether to tackle him, would
do what he's like, There's no way this guy just
made this play because I literally was between him and
the ball. In my opinion, one of the greatest players
(37:58):
of all time. I know there are a gazillion other
ones that could be on the list, but this is
my list. I would love to hear y'all s feedback.
MM excellent list.
Speaker 4 (38:07):
It'll make my summer ending list of top five, top
five list.
Speaker 8 (38:10):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (38:11):
You know what's funny, Isaam Tracy Porter who got stiff
arms by Marshawn. Tracy Porter has a game winning pick
six of Peyton Manning in the Super Bowl. It's the
biggest play you could possibly make. And he gets asked
more about Marshawn. That's a crazy, crazy thing, Jay Rob,
what do you think?
Speaker 5 (38:28):
Well, I'm yeah, and I know Matt sol I love
Matt Ketsle. Our kids go to school together.
Speaker 8 (38:33):
Nice.
Speaker 5 (38:34):
Yeah, And you guys were all me earlier about analyzing
thing casts put the ball out there.
Speaker 4 (38:39):
You threw it short. Of all things to take away
from that play, God, you had to make all my
ball and work extra hard for it. Awesome.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
That's fantastic, John. I think we have to rebrand this
so that this is my moment top five list. That
was so perfect, that's what it should be.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
Lastly, I've been working feverishly over here because I also
wanted to recognize the Jari and Jones guys in the plays.
Speaker 2 (39:01):
Because that is the guy that saku On hurl over.
Speaker 3 (39:03):
So I got Daryl Washing who got flipped over by
Jerome Simpson, Budda Baker obviously chased down Tracy Porter. You
mentioned Brandon Carr on the ground, but needs Seguon Barkley
or Odell Beckham Junior, and then Brian Dalkin. So that's
the Jarian Jones list of your top five lists.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
Yeah, well done, Isaiah.
Speaker 4 (39:22):
All right, so welcome back.
Speaker 1 (39:23):
It is the last segment on Wednesday, and is also
the last segment for our guy, Jay rob John Robinson,
longtime front office executive the NFL. You knew him as
a GM at the Titans, and Jamie was asking us
earlier like how's it going here in New York and
my response. I had a lot of different hosts here.
I'm like, I just think we're just having a hang.
We need some mozzarella sticks or some wings or something.
And wouldn't you know, Jay Rob, we have some mozzarella sticks,
(39:47):
some wings, some cheese fries from the local bodega, because
in New York we could get chop suey and candy
canes in five seconds if we want them.
Speaker 4 (39:56):
So the hang is officially now on.
Speaker 1 (39:57):
I want to ask you as I dig in, how
is your Good Morning football experience been over the last
three days.
Speaker 5 (40:02):
No, it's been great, Like I've enjoyed he hanging, the camaraderie.
Coming into this, I didn't realize I was going to
have what do you guys have, Isaiah Mussele.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
Milking silly old protein. Yeah, we have some uh bacon
and eggs, some.
Speaker 3 (40:20):
Tater to these clean body protein, and I'm going to
go with the Kyle Brandt orange centrist to finish up
the day as much more.
Speaker 2 (40:28):
Yeah, go ahead, you did great.
Speaker 5 (40:32):
No, but it was Yeah, I guess I didn't know
what to expect the first day. It was a little
bit I'm kind of feeling it out, but you know,
I got in the flow of things. I didn't realize
we're going to have a whole segment named sling It Daddy.
We kind of took a life and we will here.
Speaker 4 (40:46):
Today.
Speaker 5 (40:47):
It's been a really, really good hang. I've had a
ton of fun hanging out with you guys and just
talking a little ball. I mentioned New York, Yeah, Jamie.
And the big news here is.
Speaker 1 (40:55):
In the basketball world, Tom Tibbadeau was fired by the Knicks.
We asked the question at the beginning of the show,
what's the NFL equivalent of Thibodeaux after a run to
the Eastern Conference finals being final?
Speaker 4 (41:04):
Let's eat the tweets?
Speaker 2 (41:05):
Yeah, bring them up, show them show it's the answer.
Speaker 4 (41:07):
This is what the people said.
Speaker 1 (41:09):
This person says, all right, the Chargers didn't fire the
late Marty Schottenheimer. But if that's in the past, Sean,
we're talking about in NFL now, if they were to
suddenly wake up this morning and you see Rappaport says,
this person's been fired forty nine ers and Harbaugh. Harbaugh
is not coached to forty nine ers. We got great
tweets so far, guys, Is there anyone that actually makes sense?
All right, Bill's firing McDermott. It's the closest we've gone.
(41:32):
McDermott has been there longer than Thibodau was there in
New York.
Speaker 4 (41:35):
But I can see that and is that it? Okay?
That's it.
Speaker 5 (41:39):
I'm home.
Speaker 2 (41:41):
Great job.
Speaker 3 (41:41):
