Good Morning Football, Everybody, presented by Old Trapper Beef Jurkey.
It's a Wednesday, October twenty nine. Got a full table,
a juice table here in Los Angeles. I'm jamieer at All,
alongside Mantai Tao as always, Rashad jennings Back and Isaac
rochelle Back. We got a couple of games this hour.
We have three and out to play on a Wednesday.
Kyle Brant in Parts unknown. He'll be back tomorrow, I think. Plus,
(00:32):
we have an old toy in the studio. We're gonna
plug in and see if it works later. There's a
spider crawling on it. Happy Halloween Week, everybody roll it.
(00:53):
Welcome to Good Morning Football, presented by Old Trapper. That's right, GMFB, everybody, Rashad,
Isaac Manti, Jamie, Isaac, you really bring in the this
Morning with your pull from pop culture into the NFL,
and we always appreciate it. You feel like you've gotten
enough references in so far.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
I feel like I'm just still I just want to
talk about Miles. I just want to talk about Miles
Garrett in his situation. But yes, thank you. I love
the pop culture reference.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
It's good.
Speaker 5 (01:18):
Well we got we got Isaac, we got seat is
bringing like the poetic part of it.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
It's been so nice at this table this morning.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
Balance is that Wednesday.
Speaker 6 (01:26):
It's Wednesday.
Speaker 7 (01:27):
Oh, it's only a Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
We're looking at a really fascinating Week nine slate of
games and it begins with Ravens Dolphins on Thursday night,
just over twenty four hours away from that kickoff.
Speaker 6 (01:40):
Ian Rappaport, welcome inside.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
We've been looking at the Ravens, We've been looking at
ton of the AFC and the playoff picture. How can
Baltimore bounce back? How can it start with the Dolphins?
And will it involve Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 8 (01:54):
It will involve Lamar Jackson after missing several games with
a hamstring engine and a lot of people thought he
would come back this past Sunday was not to be.
Despite some practice situation, injury report situation in the NFL
is now looking into a status went foot full, so limited,
it was a whole thing. The focus now is on
Lamar Jackson being one hundred percent in his words, back
(02:15):
for the Baltimore Raymonds. He was talking about this week
that he was having to be back on the grass
with his teammates. He practiced full all week, should be
officially off the injury report. You would think that would
be today and then officially starting. This is all good
news for the Baltimore Ravens who got several star defensive
players back, as well for the Kansas City Chiefs, they
(02:36):
got some injury news as well, not as good injury
news as a player coming back. This is the opposite
isaiaha Check others standout running back is now considered week
to week with an MCL spring. You could see the
emotion right there. They actually showed it really well on TV.
They did the ACL test right on the field. You
could see everyone kind of shake hands in high five
knowing that it was not an ACL, but still going
to miss sometime with an MCL, which means Kareem Hunt
(02:59):
and Bishard Smith get more up to the forefront for
then the City Chiefs and then for the Vikings. Carson Wentz,
who started the last five games or so for them,
he is officially been placed on injur reserve. He is
going to have surgery on his left non throwing shoulder
after tearing his labor and suffering a chip fracture in
(03:19):
his shoulder socket out. We still having to play, wanted
to play. Nothing wrong here, It actually does happen in
the NFL. But JJ McCarthy now is their starting quarterback
for the Vikings.
Speaker 9 (03:30):
This was the plan anyway.
Speaker 8 (03:32):
McCarthy is fully healthy, is seven weeks from a high
ankle sprain. He is prepared, he is ready. They believe
he will be successful. He is going to start. And
by the way, the Vikings signed John Walford, formerly of
the Rams and Jaguars to the practice bow.
Speaker 10 (03:46):
All right, good to know, rap sheet. Yeah, I was
a little dicey there.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
They only had two quarterbacks for five minutes, so they
get an extra eye on the practice squad. So to
have the emergency third, thank you so much time for
three and out.
Speaker 6 (03:56):
The NFC is curious.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
We looked at the AFC last hour. Now we inspect
the Vikings in this entire quarterback situation raps.
Speaker 6 (04:03):
She just mentioned it.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
We last saw JJ McCarthy complete a game in week two.
It is now week nine and there was an entire
two game trip to Europe involved. The Vikings are at
three and four and they are at the bottom of
the NFC North. However, many excuses can be made about
some of those losses because do you have JJ McCarthy.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Not yet.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
They will now with a road game against a massive
divisional opponent in the Detroit Lions.
Speaker 6 (04:26):
For shot. Will JJ McCarthy be the key.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
For the Vikings to get back on track and into
a playoff picture conversation.
Speaker 11 (04:33):
Jamie Key, for sure if it's going to happen. Not
sure if it's going to happen this year. I mean
when you talk about the NFC North, like you said,
there at the bottom, and they're at the bottom with
a really good team up top. Two good teams and
that's being Green Bay Packers the Detroit Lions. I don't
know if it's enough juice over there to take them
over that hump. JJ McCarthy. We only seen him perform
a one full game, and then the second game he
(04:54):
missed a practice actually that week because of his fiance
given birth, and then he got injured. He hasn't had
a real full off season. So this is one of
the guys. It's just a question mark behind him the
whole entire time.
Speaker 12 (05:06):
I like him.
Speaker 11 (05:06):
I think he's young, he got a fire. The tell
of two halves in the first game. The second half,
he came out and performed. Well, if that player comes out,
they got a chance to wreck them happy and see
what happens.
Speaker 12 (05:18):
But I just don't see it honestly.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
This year.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
Yeah, I have a bigger question right, Like we're talking
AFC or excuse me, their division. Here's what we need
to be asking and I'm gonna read this. Are the
Vikings going to be Detroit Ravens, Bears, Packers, Seahawks Commanders.
That's the next stretch that they've got. They're going to
struggle on that stretch. I think any team would struggle
(05:41):
in that stretch. And here's the reality of it. They
had some great free agency acquisitions that we love and
we love talking about, but we really don't know who
JJ McCarthy is. You just explained it recided like he
could come out and be a dog, and I don't
think any of us would be totally surprised. But the
unfortunate reality is he could also come out and maybe
not meet those expectations, and I also don't think people
(06:02):
would be surprised. So there's a huge question mark. But
the thing that we do know is they have these
opponents coming up next, and this is a tough schedule.
This is I mean, just looking at it on paper,
it's one of the hardest schedules that we have in
the NFL right now.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
So that's where I'm at.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
I don't see them making the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (06:18):
It's just it kind of is what it is. It's
a tough situation. You know.
Speaker 12 (06:20):
It's funny about this conversation.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
We're talking a lot about JJ.
Speaker 5 (06:23):
McCarthy and not Kevin O'Connell, and I think it's fitting
because you see what Kevin O'Connell has been able to
do with so many different quarterbacks. I just saw I
just listened to an interview with Daniel Jones and Daniel
Jones crediting Kevin O'Connor on how they did practice and
how it's affected him now.
Speaker 12 (06:39):
As a colt qurt.
Speaker 6 (06:41):
He was there for three weeks, for like three.
Speaker 5 (06:42):
Weeks, and so you talk about Kevin O'Connor and what
he's been able to do for all of those quarterbacks,
and it's a little concerning that somebody like JJ McCarthy,
who's been with him for over a year now, he's
only played a few games, but he's he's been in
those meeting rooms that it just hasn't clicked yet. So
can JJ McCarthy get the Viking send.
Speaker 12 (07:00):
And playoff picture?
Speaker 4 (07:01):
I think if you look at so many different.
Speaker 5 (07:02):
Variables, who they play, how they're playing, they haven't been
able to establish a run game yet.
Speaker 12 (07:08):
And I think the most the most concerning thing is
Justin Jefferson.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Guys, guess how many touchdowns he has this year?
Speaker 12 (07:14):
No idea one one. Go back to Week one.
Speaker 5 (07:19):
That's the last time Justin Jefferson has smelt the end zone.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
And has done a gritty That's the last time, Kenig.
Speaker 5 (07:25):
There's been so many different problems with this offense, and
it's hard not to look at JJ McCarthy and be like, man,
what's going on?
Speaker 4 (07:31):
Man?
Speaker 5 (07:32):
Because we know what his head coach has been able
to do with so many quarterbacks in the past.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
What doesn't help this conversation is that we are nowhere
near sniffing a sophomore slump conversation with the rest of
the quarterbacks that we're in that class. Jaden Daniels, Caleb Williams,
Drake may Bo Nix and Michael Pennix Junior.
Speaker 6 (07:48):
Are you kidding me to hold.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
That standard to the rest of that half a dozen
quarterbacks that were drafted eighteen months ago is tough setting
for JJ McCarthy. Speaking of Drake May, the Patriots led
the AFC East with a six lead the AFC East
with a six and two record behind the arm of
their core back, But it's his running that worries his
head coach, Mike Fraebol.
Speaker 6 (08:09):
Raebel told the Greg Hill Show this.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
Week about his plans to get his QB to slide.
Speaker 6 (08:14):
It's an interesting theory. Take a listen.
Speaker 9 (08:17):
You know he's dead, dead set on hurdling somebody and
scorn from sixty yard touchdown run.
Speaker 12 (08:25):
So we'll keep working on it.
Speaker 9 (08:27):
I'm going to get a cardboard box like we did
in fifth grade back in the Saint Michael's in the
in the Catholic Diason Baseball League. We got a refrigerator
box and we cut it open and we taught to
kids that didn't know how to slide how to slide.
Speaker 4 (08:40):
So we're going to practice slide.
Speaker 6 (08:44):
It's perfect.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
I'm having flashbacks from learning how to slide on us Offallville.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
Look at that.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
It's all working on this list as a stacked class,
a ton of talent at the position.
Speaker 6 (08:54):
We kind of just I just listed it off.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
So here comes the question, who's the best quarterback from
that draft class that is currently playing today?
Speaker 6 (09:01):
Rashad, you look like you're trying to avoid answering this question.
Speaker 11 (09:03):
You shoogar your head like it's tough. It's a tough one.
But for me, I'm gonna have to say it's Drake May.
You know, I do like a couple other quarterbacks, but
who is the best?
Speaker 12 (09:12):
I think overall?
Speaker 11 (09:14):
Obviously when you look at somebody like a Jaden Daniels
who had a historical record rookie season.
Speaker 12 (09:20):
But I look at Drake May and I look at.
Speaker 11 (09:22):
How he makes everybody around him so much better. Now, obviously,
when we talk about Stefan Diags, he's catching the ball
from Casey Keenum, he catches from Teddy Bridgewater, He's called
it from Josh All and Kirk Cousins.
Speaker 12 (09:32):
Doesn't matter. He's in the world of his own.
Speaker 11 (09:33):
But when you start to look at the Patriots and
the rest of the team, you happen to mention names
like kay Sean Boudi. He's making plays every single week him.
You got guys feeling comfortable like Matt Collins, He's so comfortable.
He's coming in dressed like a bishop, walking.
Speaker 12 (09:46):
Diagonal in to the facility, and then.
Speaker 11 (09:48):
You got coming out of the Liberty University. My guy,
Pop Douglas, sixth rounder, is starting to showcase who he
really is. Shout out to Liberty University and also Hunter,
Henry Austin and Hooper. They're developing themselves. And I do like,
I do like what Kirk Cousins said. Kirk cus excuse me,
I do like what kurk Warner said. I apologize for that.
He said that Drake May is the best deep passer
(10:11):
in the game.
Speaker 12 (10:12):
The deep ball is like a handoff to him.
Speaker 11 (10:14):
So when I look at all of those things, I
think about who they have and the rest of their schedule.
Speaker 12 (10:18):
You talk about schedule.
Speaker 11 (10:19):
They're six and two and they have the Falcons, Tampa Bay,
the Jets, Bengals, Johns he's six four two twenty five.
I'd understand you want him to slide, but he is
a big guy that can run.
Speaker 12 (10:28):
I like him overall.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
Yeah, you've been seeing a lot this year quarterbacks. Kind
of it was defensive coordinators that I had used to say,
putting their face in the fan, like just all out.
Speaker 4 (10:37):
I don't care.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
We talked about it last time I was on the
show with Herbert.
Speaker 4 (10:40):
I don't know if you guys saw me.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
I'm gonna change the subject real quick over.
Speaker 4 (10:43):
Here painting my nails. Oh, because who are we going
to talk about?
Speaker 6 (10:45):
Oh?
Speaker 12 (10:46):
Caleb Williams.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
Caleb Williams because I am so excited to continue to
see him this season, because people I don't think they
realized what his situation was last year. Yeah, he had
eber Flus as his head coach. Ibra Flus, if you
guys don't know, is now a defensive coordinator and previously
was a defensive coordinator. You take a rookie quarterback and
throw him with a defensive minded head coach. I don't
know that that gives him the best chance to succeed.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
Now, who is his coach? Ben Johnson?
Speaker 3 (11:13):
Ben Johnson is an offensive guru and will always be
an offensive guru. You talked about systems man tie and
what that can do for a quarterback, especially a young quarterback.
I'm not surprised by what I'm seeing. And also, last
thing the NFL is totally.
Speaker 4 (11:27):
What have you done for me? Lately?
Speaker 3 (11:29):
And right now, Caleb Williams is doing exactly what he
needs to do to change this organization, and the people
in Chicago love to see it, the NFL loves to
see it, and I'm excited to see it.
Speaker 12 (11:39):
Moving forward now.
Speaker 5 (11:40):
Kaylyn Williams definitely has been explosive and his continue to
improve himself week after week, especially under Ben Johnson and
Drake Mayon Matt who I think one of the best
games of football from not only strategy but ability. But guys,
I gotta go with Jayden, I gotta go at Jaiden Daniels.
I'm the defensive green daw at this table, and I
(12:01):
know that I know the late nights and I would
have to spend with my defensive coordinator to figure out
how do I solve this Rubik's.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
Cube that is Jaden Daniels.
Speaker 5 (12:11):
It's just when you have a quarterback that can beat
you in the pocket, out the pocket, on the run,
under center, he can run the ball himself. He can
also hand the ball off and is a true pick
your poison situation. Jayden Daniels is the only quarterback in
that class that I looked at that.
Speaker 12 (12:28):
Puts me in that in that dilemma.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
It's like do I want the ball in his hands?
Speaker 5 (12:33):
Do I not want the ball in his hands and
it's trying to figure out how do I take the
ball away from him, and he.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
Just doesn't get the ball up. So I'd have to
go at Jayden and Daniels in this in this first
or second down of.
Speaker 12 (12:43):
This book thing.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
What's fascinating Isaac Topoult the throw that you just brought up,
it's the fact that if you inspect every single situation,
Jayden Daniels playing with a defensive minded head coach to
the same coach in two years. Drake May's had a
change at head coach. Michael Pennock Junior has a defensive
minded head coach. Caleb's got a change. JJ hasn't played,
but he's had the same head coach.
Speaker 6 (13:02):
Bon Nix is sitting.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
There in Denver and he's winning games and he's sett
in records. Bon Nicks has the most wins in his
first twenty five starts, which ties John Elway at sixteen.
The guy started twenty five games to the Broncos. He's
won sixteen. The last time somebody did that in his
first twenty five starts was John Elway. Guys, he's doing
things that Peyton Manning hasn't done since twenty thirteen. Bon
(13:23):
Nicks is for real, and it's not because oh does
can he sling the ball over the all over the
yard like Drake Maken Maybe not, but when you consider
quarterback and coach and the way the Broncos are beaten
up on teams, dropping forty four on the Cowboys last week,
I had to be remiss not to mention bon Nicks
in that roo.
Speaker 6 (13:40):
Michael Pennock Junior TVD.
Speaker 10 (13:42):
And JJ McCarthy Capital TVD.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
Moving on, Packers linebacker Michaeh Parsons was chasing down Aaron
Rodgers all night in Week eight, getting him one time
for a sack. But there was one particular play where
Micah knew Rogers was on another level, the one where.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
I was like honking him down and I was like,
this close to again, and then I heard the crowd.
Speaker 12 (14:05):
I was like that's there.
Speaker 13 (14:06):
I was like, you don't go.
Speaker 12 (14:07):
So I'm like Crouch He's like, I was like, I've
never even heard of the QB.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
Said, So Mike is implying that Aaron heard the roar
like he's coming and he was able to throw the ball.
Speaker 6 (14:18):
That's an absolute veteran move.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
Guys, all three, I think We've learned before the show
seven eight years that you all clocked in the NFL manty,
What is one thing that a veteran taught you during
your career and you're like, oh, that one stuck man.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Philip Rivers are torment.
Speaker 12 (14:31):
Philip Rivers taught me so.
Speaker 5 (14:33):
Much about the game of football, going against him in
practice so many every single day, and one of the
things that he taught me was we're big into disguising
on defense, like trying to show when we're blitzing, show
we're blitzing.
Speaker 12 (14:44):
When we're not.
Speaker 5 (14:45):
And Philip would be a lot like Aaron Rodgers where
he would point me out when I was trying to
bluff like I was coming and he'd be like, you
ain't coming man time. So I asked him after practice, like,
how do you know that I'm not blitzing?
Speaker 12 (14:55):
He's like, well, when you're blitzing, do you look at
me or do you look at the ball. I was like, oh,
I look at the ball.
Speaker 5 (14:59):
He's like, That's how I know you're not blitzing is
because when you're looking at me pre snap, I know
you're dropping to cover. So just those little details of
like okay, cool.
Speaker 12 (15:08):
So as a young player.
Speaker 5 (15:09):
I got to learn, Okay, I want to look at
the ball at all times to make sure that the
quarterback thinks that I'm blitzing. So just those fine little
details made me a better player.
Speaker 12 (15:17):
So shout out to Philip Bolo tie.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
Yeah, yeah, I love it.
Speaker 12 (15:23):
We love Philip.
Speaker 4 (15:24):
We love Philip. He's a great guy.
Speaker 3 (15:25):
Also, I don't know how this hasn't come up Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 12 (15:27):
The hearing.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
Do you think this is like heightened hearing from the
darkness retreat?
Speaker 4 (15:30):
Like He's like, yeah, yeah, yeah, maybe it's good.
Speaker 6 (15:33):
He has a heightened sense.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
Could yeah like it?
Speaker 6 (15:35):
And I thought he was going to say.
Speaker 10 (15:36):
Like you were going to say old age and this
hearing was supposed to go.
Speaker 6 (15:39):
But I was worried. I was like, we're not that bad.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
No, he's got a hearing. It so good, Joe King
Aaron Rodgers, Okay, best advice that I got. Twenty seventeen.
I got put on practice squad for thirteen weeks, and
my first game back we played the Jets. I'm sitting
there talking to my dad in the hotel lobby.
Speaker 6 (15:55):
Who are you playing for at the time?
Speaker 4 (15:56):
The Chargers?
Speaker 3 (15:57):
Okay, good question, And I'm sitting there and I'm so nervous.
And this guy by the name of Brandon Meban comes back.
He sees my dad and I talking and he's just like,
how you feeling. And I was telling him how nervous
I was, and he goes, Isaac, well, they called me
I I It's just football. And when he said that,
it was just like this huge weight was lifted, like
(16:17):
it's just football, you know what, It's just football. And
I just kept telling myself that over and over again.
Got my first sack of my NFL career during that game.
Fun fact, the great Antonio Gates came.
Speaker 4 (16:30):
Up to me at halftime, shook my hand and he
was like, you're gonna have a great career.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
Congrats on the first sack. But yeah, Brandon me Band,
it's just football, guys, It's just TV. It's just it
fits with anything. So Brandon me Ban, I miss you.
I hope you're watching.
Speaker 4 (16:41):
This.
Speaker 6 (16:42):
Was that at New York.
Speaker 4 (16:43):
Yeah, the turf helped me out.
Speaker 6 (16:45):
Been on the sideline of that game. Were you have
to look it up?
Speaker 4 (16:48):
I have.
Speaker 6 (16:48):
I did a couple of Broce Petty games.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
Yeah it was Petty.
Speaker 6 (16:51):
That's a brace, but you got him. I have to
look it up.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
Wow, that's crazy.
Speaker 12 (16:56):
That's a good one man.
Speaker 11 (16:57):
And for me a veteran that I received some good
information from, and it was a lot along the way.
I heard Fred Taylor when I first started, and he
poyed in so much. When when I was in Jacksonville's
training down in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He instilled a lot
of good information to me. But I want to give
a shout out to Charles Woodson. Something he said when
I was with the Raiders, and it's very simple, and
(17:17):
he told me, he said he watched me practice every day.
Speaker 12 (17:20):
He came up to me, he said, you practiced really hard.
Speaker 11 (17:23):
When opportunity presents itself, it's too late to prepare, it's
going to happen for you. And sure enough, I'm backing
up Darren may Fadden. He goes, he gets hurt against
the Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 12 (17:32):
I go in.
Speaker 11 (17:32):
It's fourth quarter, right, and I run for one hundred
and twelve yards in the fourth quarter. I think Nick
Foles had broke the record or tied the record for
like seven touchdowns a game.
Speaker 12 (17:40):
We got whooped. People was walking out the stadium.
Speaker 11 (17:42):
But I got my chance and I took off and
because of that. I got to start the very next week,
played against the Texans.
Speaker 12 (17:49):
I had this eighty yard touchdown run right here. YEA
ain't gonna go Wow. What do you think about me?
Speaker 11 (17:54):
Is I'm straying away from everybody and the thing I
just can't remember when opportunity presents itself, it's too late
to prepare.
Speaker 12 (18:01):
You always have to be ready. Young boys.
Speaker 11 (18:03):
You don't know when your opportunity will come, but I
promise you it will come if you look at if
you're business, manager, owner, whatever it is.
Speaker 12 (18:10):
Every single opportunity will show itself in life at least
two to three times.
Speaker 11 (18:14):
It's just a matter of fact what you prepare to
take advantage of that opportunity.
Speaker 12 (18:18):
Jarrem.
Speaker 11 (18:18):
Ifatt didn't come back anymore, I took the start of
the Rings. That's when I started my career, went.
Speaker 7 (18:22):
To the Giants.
Speaker 5 (18:23):
It's amazing, guys, how we have so many different veterans
and people that been in different professional settings that given
us a lot of feedback to kind of bring us
all home. One of the veterans on this show, Kyle Brandt,
the pre kickoff show we did for NBC had a
profound impact on me. I'm fairly knowing this game on TV.
This is just my first year, my first full time year,
(18:45):
and so I'm still learning. And so I did what
most I think former players would do, like I would
get real stady, and I did that in our first
little trial run of our show, and Kyle Brant comes
over to me and he pulls me in aside and
says that ain't you don't do that because I want
Matt tie.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
You don't be anybody else, be you.
Speaker 5 (19:06):
And that reminded me of a quote somebody once said,
is that if you're a copy of somebody else, trust me,
they're always going to try to find the original. So
shout out to Kyle Brant, our big brother in the show,
because those type of words had a profound impact impact
on me and has made me a better broadcast or analyst,
whatever you want to call it. But there's definitely veterans
in our lives that have have helped shape our careers,
(19:27):
and so I'm very grateful for all of them.
Speaker 6 (19:29):
That's weird.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
Kyle tells me to not interrupt him when he's doing
early nineties.
Speaker 4 (19:36):
Shout out.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
Shout out Kelly and from graphics in the back there,
it's a sick letter jacket on the field.
Speaker 6 (19:41):
That was a really fun night.
Speaker 12 (19:42):
And uh, right before we got kicked off the field, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
Exactly, but we did see spitting on the field right
before we got it.
Speaker 6 (19:49):
We got escorted up the tunnel. Just Jalen Carter coming up.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
We're going to be joined by Panini Senior Bowl executive
Drew Fabianich.
Speaker 6 (19:56):
She's going to give us some college players.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
To keep an eye on this weekend as the invitations
are beginning to roll out.
Speaker 6 (20:01):
Plus, we got to look at some Senior.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
Bowl alum who are are bond out the season anti Plus.
Speaker 5 (20:07):
We have another great guest as well, Jamie Bengals Hall
of Fame offensive lineman Anthony Munios.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
We'll get his thoughts on the tush push.
Speaker 5 (20:15):
Oh, I can't wait and talk about a great event
he is hosting this weekend.
Speaker 4 (20:19):
Stay with us, don't go anywhere.
Speaker 1 (20:21):
It's Good morning football. We're just getting started.
Speaker 4 (20:23):
Wait, we got a little bit left.
Speaker 12 (20:25):
Ye, like we got more to.
Speaker 7 (20:35):
Good morn football.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
We're almost at the midway point for the NFL season.
Speaker 10 (20:39):
However, it is never too early to start.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
Talking draft prospects for next spring.
Speaker 10 (20:44):
The draft will be in Pittsburgh. But before that, we
got to.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
Check in on some of the great Bowl games that
we love. Time to welcome back to our show, the
executive director of the Panini Senior Ball Drew Fabianich.
Speaker 6 (20:53):
What's going on, Drew?
Speaker 12 (20:54):
What's up? You'll do it, Drew.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
We are on the doorstep of Halloween. Where do we
stand right now with Senior Bowl prep and crew eighting
rosters and teams and keeping your eyes on some players.
Speaker 13 (21:07):
Well, the thing is right this week we're actually meeting
with all of our area scals, so we have all
over the country. We're doing it by zoom. We're putting
together you know, our advice, you know for the Senior Bowl.
Where're gonna have one hundred and forty spots and we're
going to talk through everybody that they've looked at. And
then the invites are going to go out right about
the middle of November, right close to the end of
(21:28):
everybody's season, because we don't want to interfere with you know,
those last few games, you know, and we don't want
to disrupt the you know, the continuity they've already established
as a you know, coaching staff and as a team.
Speaker 5 (21:39):
Well, Joy, I think one of those invitations has a
person's name on it already, because the last time you're
on us, you told us about Indiana's quarterback for Nando
Mendoza and how he is improving his senior bow stock.
Since Dan Indiana has been rolling. What stands what stands
out to you about him?
Speaker 13 (21:54):
Well, the first thing is he's close to prototype. I
mean he's actually a little above prototype height wise. The
thing that stands out, I mean he's got seventy two
percent complete percentage, twenty four touchdowns, I mean three interceptionions.
That's huge. You know for him, what stands out the
most is the accuracy. And you know if you can't
you can't throw with accuracy, can't play in the NFL
at bottom line. And you know he's athletic enough to
(22:17):
escape the pocket. He's you know, smart enough to climb
when he needs to. He escapes when he has to,
and you know he's been efficient. So I mean, he
just keeps climbing and really goes all the way back
to my first appearance on Good Morning Football way back
in like August, I said I was looking forward to
seeing him because I saw him Carba Auburn when he
was a cal you know, last year, and Auburn was
pretty good on defense, Joe.
Speaker 11 (22:38):
When I see I go back to some humble beginnings,
think about the Senior Bowl playing in it myself and
the Paniti actually signing the cards. It just flashed back
a bunch of memories. So take me now, though, to
which one of those kids out there in college football
will you think will be in this position one day
to look back and say, Wow, the Senior Bowl really
(22:58):
helped me out.
Speaker 13 (22:59):
I think really The first one that comes to mind
is cash is how you know he's been disruptive all
throughout the year of Texas A and M. You know,
flash back to you know, the year before. I mean
he led the nation in sacks at Bowling Green and
A M picks him up in the transfer portal. Yeah,
nine and a half sacks already, like seventeen pressures. You know,
he's got great get off. You know, he bends at
(23:20):
the top of the rush and defensive linement in the
room right there. You know, if you can clear hips
at the top of the rush, you know, makes you
really wicked, you know, effective. So I like the heck
out of him, and you know, I hope he's hope
he's going to be in our game.
Speaker 4 (23:32):
Appreciate you being on.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
It's always a pleasure talking about this as a Senior
Bowl alum has a special place in my heart. Another
Senior Bowl alarm Daniel Jones, who's dominating. Everybody's talking about
him this year. Just talk a little bit about Daniel Jones,
maybe his experience at the Senior Bowl and then your
thought of him now as a dominating quarterback.
Speaker 13 (23:52):
Well, you know, I wasn't around for him in the
Senior Bowl. The thing was is, you know, I really
like how he's developed under you know, coach Strikings, you know, tutelage,
because he's using him exactly to the skill set that
he has, and they're protecting him. Well, they're getting the
ball out of his hand quick, you know, And again
that's part of the that's part of the problem the
(24:14):
process is you know, hey, protect the quarterback because if
you don't, you're going to get gunshy, You're going to
start seeing the rush, you're gonna start feeling the rush,
and then you're gonna start panicking. Well, you know, they've
taken that away from him, and you know he has
just progressed and progressed each week. And like I said,
what I like what they've done is they use they
use his tools the right way.
Speaker 6 (24:34):
That's awesome, Drew. We appreciate it so much.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
We love the different check ins, the mile markers for
the Senior Bowl because you always keep us honest with.
Speaker 6 (24:41):
Who we should look forward to ahead.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Of checking in on those guys. Panini Senior Ball everybody.
The week kicks off on NFL Network on January twenty sixth.
Until then, we will not forget Drew Fabian.
Speaker 6 (24:51):
It's Drew. Awesome to see you. We'll talk to you
out a little bit.
Speaker 12 (24:53):
Thank you toiy all ask you surely.
Speaker 6 (24:55):
So and Drew. Hi, Sherry, how are you?
Speaker 1 (24:58):
Hey?
Speaker 7 (24:58):
Hi JV.
Speaker 6 (24:59):
Thank you for asking.
Speaker 14 (25:00):
We're talking about college players there at the Senior Bowl,
but once they were in high school. The NFL Way
to Play Awards they're fueled by Gatorade and they were
created to recognized and reward those players who use proper
playing techniques at all levels, which includes high school. This
week's winner connected from deep on special teams with more.
Here's former Jets and Dolphins quarterback and current high school
(25:21):
head football coach.
Speaker 6 (25:22):
And Lexington, Kentucky, Chad Pennington.
Speaker 15 (25:25):
Our winner this week is Grady Matcham from LD. Bell
High School in Hurst, Texas. Sixty yard field goal. Yes,
I said sixty yards in high school. Grady has a
great stance, his approach is nice, and his finish is
(25:46):
phenomenal with a great fallow through to complete this sixty.
Speaker 12 (25:50):
Yard field goal. Wow, what a way to play.
Speaker 14 (25:52):
Congratulations Grady even got the celebration there. So in honor
of the terrific way to play example, the NFL Foundation
will theward a three thousand dollars equipment grant through USA
Football to the bluets of L. D.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
Bell.

Speaker 10 (26:50):
You will not believe what just happened.
Speaker 2 (26:52):
Many just destroyed our generic red football helmet.
Speaker 1 (26:55):
This is so sad.
Speaker 6 (26:58):
Look at that.
Speaker 12 (26:59):
That's terrible.
Speaker 6 (27:00):
Mantai.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
You're going to get an email from the props department. Listen,
we're playing We're playing drop. You just saw a clip
from the last time we played it. Isaac Rochelle and
Manti are going to be on the same team. Rashad
Jennings and I are on the same team. And if
you were watching GMFB last hour, which you absolutely were,
I'm not stressed at all about Rashad being my teammate
in a game in which we have to play hullery.
Speaker 6 (27:17):
Thanks drawing pictures.
Speaker 12 (27:19):
Wait it for you.
Speaker 6 (27:19):

Speaker 12 (28:03):

Speaker 4 (28:08):

Speaker 10 (28:12):
That's a gold bar, which would be impossible.
Speaker 12 (28:14):
So golden bridge?
Speaker 6 (28:15):

Speaker 17 (28:52):
We can crawl by the way. Okay, trucking people. It
could be Herbert. He just trucked somebody in the last game.
Speaker 6 (29:06):
This is so good. Think of the emotion.
Speaker 18 (29:08):

Speaker 4 (29:20):

All right, you'll get to a shot. You will have

Speaker 4 (29:30):

Speaker 12 (30:05):

Speaker 6 (30:06):
That is a marshmallow, you know shot. Not a real

Speaker 12 (30:13):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (30:14):
No, I don't on no, no, whatever.
Speaker 4 (30:19):
You tell me anything, you don't say anything. I'm gonna
do one thing.
Speaker 6 (30:22):
And then you think I'm gonna know it.
Speaker 12 (30:24):
That don't help.
Speaker 4 (30:25):
You're like, yeah, that's what I'm talking about.
Speaker 12 (30:27):
You can't do it.
Speaker 11 (30:27):
Okay, yeah, oh sorry about that.
Speaker 5 (30:35):

Speaker 4 (31:07):

Speaker 12 (31:08):

Speaker 10 (31:12):

right back on d letter.
Speaker 7 (33:07):
Nobody's mad.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
Nobody's mad, nobody's mad.
Speaker 7 (33:15):
Good, Good morning football.
Speaker 6 (33:27):
This Sunday is Bill's Chiefs game.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
Will be the tenth time Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen
face off against each other.
Speaker 6 (33:32):
And if you needed more of a.
Speaker 2 (33:34):
Reason to care, the Kansas City Chiefs have a one
point edge on the Bills. In the first nine games,
they have scored two hundred and forty three points and
the Bills have scored two hundred and forty two points.
It is always a show when it comes to Josh
Allen and Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 10 (33:49):
We always talk about this.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
Games have steaks and that makes us love it a
little bit more.
Speaker 6 (33:54):
Man Tai. When you look at this matchup, what's that
steak for you?
Speaker 12 (33:58):
What's at steak?
Speaker 5 (33:59):
Well, let's talk about the steaks that have been in
the past. Right in guards to the season, Josh Allen
is four and one against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas
City Chiefs.
Speaker 12 (34:10):
Now.
Speaker 5 (34:10):
I will say this about the Buffalo Bills, and it's
so fitting that you're here, Isaac, because last week I
made the.
Speaker 12 (34:16):
Equivalent to those running shoes. Remember, and that.
Speaker 5 (34:20):
Little take I had was talking about the Bills defense
and how they were built to guard against the pass.
They weren't built to guard against the run. When you're
looking at the Kansas City Chiefs, they've been trying to
still find their identity in the run game. Now, Isaiah
Pacheco looks like he's week two week. That means Kareem
Hunt is now in the equation. He takes more of
this pie that is that backfield, and Kareem Hunt has
(34:41):
been a downhill bruiser who's got He had one rushing
touchdown last week and a pass a passing catch for
a touchdown and implement him.
Speaker 12 (34:51):
But then also.
Speaker 1 (34:51):
Rushi Rice who they also use as a wildcat.
Speaker 5 (34:54):
I'm looking at Andy Reid going into this game understanding
what the weaknesses of this Buffalo Bills defense are and
that run game coming in live for the Kansas City Chiefs. Now,
if you look at it from a whole. If the
Chiefs can figure stuff out in this run game, it's
going to be even more scary because you know, Patrick
Mahomes in that past game is always going to be elite.
It's the run game that they're still trying to figure out,
(35:15):
and this could be that game for the Kna City
Chiefs where they finally figure out how to utilize that backfield.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
It's so funny that there's a question mark on their
run game because in my mind, I'm like, Okay, Kareem
Hunt's a great running back. Like he's proven year after
year that he can play well and play at a
high level and demand a.
Speaker 4 (35:32):
Defense to respect the run game.
Speaker 3 (35:34):
I'm thinking about this Chiefs defense because they have a
few guys on that defense that have played well consistently.
One guy in particular that I'm a huge fan of,
both personally and as a player, is Drew Tranquile. That's
a guy that I'm gonna have the ISO cam on.
And of course I'm gonna bring up a Notre Dame.
Speaker 12 (35:48):
Guy, right.
Speaker 4 (35:49):
This is a guy that they've moved around.
Speaker 3 (35:50):
He's done so many different things for them, really came
in as a special teams guy and then earned his
way as a true defensive piece.
Speaker 12 (35:57):
Green Dot guy.
Speaker 3 (35:58):
He's somebody that I'm watching, and you need your best
version of your defense to go against Josh Allen. You
need the best version of everybody. You need a great
pass rush from Chris Jones, but you need a guy
right behind him and Drew Trankle that can demand the secondary.
Speaker 4 (36:13):
That can demand the front and just take over this game.
Speaker 3 (36:15):
So that's who I'm gonna be watching when I watch
this game is Drew Trankule.
Speaker 12 (36:19):
I love it. And we're talking about mid season.
Speaker 11 (36:21):
You got Josh Allen, you got Patrick Mahomes with setting
back eating some good food. This is exciting because earlier
we talked about the AFC and kind of where is
it is wide open? Here are two teams that potentially
could be playing for the AFC Championship soon to come,
and so we get a quick glimpse.
Speaker 12 (36:38):
I'm excited to see.
Speaker 11 (36:40):
Not only I want to Tony Roman, I think is
on it too, so we'll get a lot of pre snaps,
but I love I want to see what Burschard Smith
actually does with more roles with the excuse me, with
the Kansas City Chiefs, and because I think he's a
special guy coming out of SMU. I think he can
do everything and he's kind of like that little X factor.
(37:00):
So I have my eyes on him totally with the Chiefs,
and then on the other side with the Bills.
Speaker 12 (37:04):
I'm looking at Keenan Coleman.
Speaker 11 (37:06):
I think he has to step up and make a
big play and kind of show why he was a
top dog first round draft.
Speaker 5 (37:12):
Yeah, I'm glad you transitioned it to the Bills because
let's talk about the Bills in that offense, right. I
think last week he brought up key on Coleman, and
last week Josh Allen I think reintroduced himself to his
favorite target from last year and Khalis Shakur and the
Khalishaker had a phenomenal game last week. But somebody who's
having a phenomenal year is James Cook. Like he's somebody
(37:33):
that has really taken on the weight of this offense almost.
I think Josh Allen hasn't met the expectations that he's
set for himself, but James Cook has surpassed that. Right,
James Cook continuously has a big yardage game where he's
just averaging ten to twelve yards a carry, and so
when I'm looking at this offense. I think it's they're
(37:54):
starting to figure themselves out a little bit. In the
past game of Khalis Shakur being able to get Keyon
Coleman involved in those in those deeper shots, but then
also with James Cook and being very very efficient and
very very strong in the run game, that kind of
even stings out for Josh Allen and gives him time
to kind of get his stride a little bit. Once
this Buffalo Bill's offense starts ticking, we've seen what it's
(38:17):
been able to do in the past, and so I'm
going to be watching that as well.
Speaker 4 (38:19):
Isaac, Well, you talked about the run game.
Speaker 3 (38:21):
I think the most dangerous part of any of these
elite quarterbacks and how they.
Speaker 4 (38:26):
Fit within the offense is their ability to run the ball.
Speaker 3 (38:28):
Josh Allen is like this sneaky will run the ball
on your defense if you allow him to. I know
this Chiefs defense I just mentioned Drew Tranquill. These guys
are thinking about how can we keep him in the pocket,
make him play quarterback, keep him right there, don't let
him make plays with his legs. And that's I mean,
it's a fun thing to watch when you're you know
you said, sitting at home eating popcorn, hanging out.
Speaker 4 (38:48):
It's fun to watch him run. But if they let him, if.
Speaker 3 (38:52):
They excuse me, if the Chiefs let the Bills just
start running all over him like that with Josh Allen,
it's going to be a problem for him.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
It's the first time ever, despite it being the tenth
matchup between these two teams, that neither one is situated
as the leader of their division right now, because the
two teams are seated right now in the AFC as
the fifth and the seventh seed. So I feel like
there's a new word here, especially in a regular season matchup,
which is desperation.
Speaker 6 (39:17):
Maybe the Bills and the Chieves.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
This is weekend defining for Week nine. We had to
chomp at the bit a little bit on a Wednesday.
Usually we don't do that this early. But it's going
to be an awesome game and the Spikela meter is back.
That man ripped his pants.
Speaker 7 (39:39):
No no, no, no no.
Speaker 6 (39:47):
You are reverberating and energy right now. I don't think
you need much more.
Speaker 12 (39:53):
I ran them money.
Speaker 7 (39:54):
I written my pants for this. No no, no, no.
Speaker 6 (40:03):
Class already on g MFB.
Speaker 2 (40:05):
Current player Current player current player.
Speaker 10 (40:08):
Retired five minutes ago.
Speaker 2 (40:09):
Kyle Brandt, this is how we work on the scoreboard
for the Spikeo Meter. We have a new man on
the block here that we would like to take the test.
Manti your score is up here. Let's have you reset.
Rashad you're going to go second, and then Isaac you
are going to go last.
Speaker 6 (40:25):
Just so then you understand how it's done.
Speaker 2 (40:26):
So Mantio, you are up first.
Speaker 7 (40:30):
Bunny, how it's done.
Speaker 16 (40:34):
That's a thousand you got.
Speaker 12 (40:49):
Let's go shot touchdown again. I think you got a
thousand on the screen.
Speaker 6 (40:57):
Wow, old fashion, he's not strong anymore.
Speaker 12 (41:04):
I don't let's see it. Let's see it. Oh, it
was a good one.
Speaker 6 (41:11):
Did he just hit a thousand plus?
Speaker 12 (41:12):
That was a good one. God ring.
Speaker 4 (41:19):
I didn't work after that and I only got eighty two.
Speaker 7 (41:23):
He swooped up.
Speaker 4 (41:24):
I'm on the podium on the podio.
Speaker 12 (41:27):
I'll take top cold.
Speaker 4 (41:29):
I don't know.
Speaker 11 (41:30):
We gotta put on the lord that risk over here,
you gotta he's happening.
Speaker 12 (41:35):
Over That was my big brother.
Speaker 15 (41:37):
That was it, and I got to beat the retired guy.
Speaker 12 (41:40):
I need to beat the newly retired guy. But I'm
going to put it with you, Isaac.
Speaker 4 (41:43):
I need to get resigned.
Speaker 12 (41:44):
I know a way you.
Speaker 18 (41:48):
Come back and try to say I want football.
Speaker 4 (41:53):
We love you guys,
