Speaker 1 (00:00):
And now Move the Sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
What's up, everybody? Welcome to a Monday version of Move
the Sticks. DJ buck and our buddy Baldy with us today.
First of all, Baldi, where are you today?

Speaker 1 (00:16):
I am on the third floor in NFL Films, in
the cave. I'm in the bubble.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
I got out of Kansas City at five thirty this morning,
and for some reason, I don't feel tired.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
I might crash you, okay, right now? Where you at?
Buck Well?

Speaker 4 (00:33):
I'm in NFL Network, NFL Media headquarters because I like Baldy.
I left Cincinnati this morning at six fifteen, took a
non stop, got in lax and went right to studio
so I could bang.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Man you boys, and I'm in Vegas. I'm in the MGM.
That's why this little background here the MGM looks like
I'm in the Joel room here. By the way, we
got the red curtains, we got the red couch. It's
like I feel like I'm in sug Night's apartment over here.
What's going on?

Speaker 1 (01:03):
But let's we're gonna jump into some of these games.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
And a friendly reminder, this is this is our second
version of this which we got great feedback from the
first version with Baldy last Monday, and people really enjoyed it.
And if you're listening to it, we're gonna dig into
some of these games. We're not gonna get to all
the games, but that's going to leave for tomorrow. We
will clean up every game we don't talk about today.
We'll get you on that tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
But the one I think we got to start with
this Super Bowl rematch Baldy Casey Philly. I'll let you
go where you want to go there, Well, I was there.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
I was there in announcing the game, and you know, honestly,
the Kansas City just can't get an explosive play. They
got one to Taekwon Thornton and he was open a bunch,
and in the last first two weeks you saw him
in Brazil and they just you know, Mahomes is just off,
but they have no explosion to their offense. And then
the run game is the same thing, like, if it's

(01:51):
not Mahomes extending plays and running again, lean lean rusher,
you know, two weeks in a row right now, and
if it's not him, just pull the ball down and
take it off like they don't get anything out of
the run game right now. And then they had a chance,
they had a great chance in the fourth quarter. They're
down the six yard line and they throw one right
at the goal line to Travis Kelce and like he

(02:14):
just it's a hot potato, you know. And there's Andrew mccouba,
and he took it and took it forty yards and
they end up going down and scoring and kind of
open the game up. But honestly, the Eagles, I call
it the ambient offense, like it just just sleep, like
it's a big sleeping pill. But they don't turn the
ball like their formula is real. If the game is close,

(02:37):
or if they have a lead, if it's third and thirteen,
they're not even thinking about going for They're handing the
ball off in the punty. That's what they did on
two or three occasions yesterday. But right now, Jalen Hurst
just is not going to put the ball in harms away.
And they do just enough on offense two weeks in
a row to win the game. But they don't turn
it over. They don't give you any field position. Their

(02:58):
special teams are great, and every guy they pick up
Zadaria Smith like he was on the couch two weeks ago.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
He comes in, he has four negative plays and twenty snaps.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Like the defensive line looked better with Jalen in there,
and they're getting great play from Jordan Davis right now,
which is really encouraging for any Eagle fan, especially after
losing Milton Williams. So I thought the Eagles played just
a very clean, sound game. It's not exciting. There's not
a whole lot of stats to talk about. Saeguan is

(03:28):
in rushing for one hundred yards. But man, when you
don't turn the ball over in this league and you
make your field goals like they are, you can win
close games.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
And that's what they did.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
You know, it's funny that you said they bought it
because I think everyone has seen the viral clip of
Chris Jones talking to Jalen Hurts, yeah, doing the knee
and Chris Jones talking about the numbers, and they talk
about winning, and I think that is the thing that
they talk about, like let's just win the game. And
to me, I've seen this team kind of have a

(03:59):
make over from where they went to being a very
emotional up and down team, including the coach. So now
they kind of figured out, Hey man, we're at our
best when we focus on execution over all the emotion
and championship teams kind of figured that part out, and
they win games when they don't have their A game,

(04:19):
and I think they're just doing just enough to win.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
We're in early September, Like Eagles at this time last
year were a mess offensive and they were turning it over.
Now they figured it out and they went to the
method like where they're playing right now. But you know,
there's still a lot of room for improvement in this team. Yeah,
this is far from a finished product, So I think
it's going to be a gradual thing where they get
some explosive, more explosive plays.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Than they're getting.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
But for right now, they're content with just trying to
get to keep the running game clean, keep the line
of scrimmage clean, and they're doing a good job of
doing that.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Yeah, I want to I want to hit on what
you guys are talking about, and I'll work back to
front here at Eagles. First of all, BALLD, we were
talking this morning too, like Zara Smith, as you mentioned,
Jordan Davis two weeks in a row now has played really,
really well. But then Ouch has made a couple of plays.
You see him in each of the first two weeks
splash in There, No One Smith, I'll sing from the mountaintops.
He's one of my favorite players to watch because this

(05:14):
question is so much violence and explosive as he made
a big fourth down play. But to me, one of
the secret sauces of this Eagles team is not just
the frontline talent. We think about all the stars, but
it's the depth. Man you mentioned Zidaria Smith when you
say twenty snaps, twenty one snaps. They have that Alpha
unit and that Bravo unit up front, and they roll
those guys all through They keep them fresh, and that's

(05:36):
like their little secret recipe for how well they play
is that they go eight deep up there and roll
those guys all through there. Jomo made some plays in
that game as well, so that front is really really good.
I was thinking of baseball offensively with them, like pitching
in defense and winning a lot of baseball games. You
can win a lot of two to one games, and
that's what they do.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
It's clean.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
It's just a clean, clean baseball. Hey, I ball to
short stop, We hey make the pot.

Speaker 5 (06:02):
That's what they do.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
The thing that's interesting, DJ is we could go around
the league right here. We will about how greedy teams
are about points going forward on fourth downs. We've seen
a backfire the Giants yesterday at backfire. They're so greedy.
The Eagles know defenseively, they're probably not going to give
up a lot of big plays the way they're playing
right now, but they don't get greed like, Okay, punting

(06:25):
is still a good option for this team and playing
field position like some of the things that we all
grew up kind of say.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Any drive that ends in a kick.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
How many times did your coaches tell you, Hey, any
drive that ends in a kick is a good drive
for us, Hey, buck. So the other thing I want
to hit on you guys are Baldy was talking about
the run game. So without Mahomes, Mahomes is leading this
team and rushing significantly without him in two games, thirty
carries ninety six yards three point two yards per carry.
I went back through and watched the video on their

(06:54):
run game, and I sorted it to just watch it,
which is awesome. You can do now just versus two
high looks. So if you're going to you know, they're
so obsessed with trying to get these explosive pass plays
which haven't been coming. So they've had eleven runs this
year and through two games with two high safeties, and
they've got forty three yards on those eleven carries, and
one of those was like an eleven yard run by Pacheco.
Then there's a bunch of just like three yard runs

(07:17):
when you're getting these favorable run looks. And part of
it is like, look, the Interier offensive line is not
playing great. I don't know what's going on with Tray Smith.
He doesn't look like he's playing as well as we're
historically accustomed seeing him play. But then also they got
to get more dynamic and explosive in the backfield. And
I know Pacheco ran a fast fordy and everything, but
I don't think he has great vision. They've only give

(07:38):
Himshard Smith. I think he's got one carry for two
yards through two games. The rookie at SMU, he's got
real juice. And with those looks they're seeing, to me,
they got to try something to get more dynamic in
the run game. Give that due a chance.

Speaker 4 (07:51):
Look, I'll say this, and the league is cyclical, and
as everyone is going.

Speaker 5 (07:56):
Back to two high looks.

Speaker 4 (07:58):
You have to have a dynamic runner backfield, and you
have to be willing to use the run game to
set up the explosive plays. I am surprised that it's
taking the Chiefs this long to figure it out. Did
I remember doing games on Thursday night where we talked
about the Buffalo Bills parking the safeties in the parking lot,
saying you're not going to have the explosive play.

Speaker 5 (08:17):
The only way you get these teams you got to
run them out of that. You got to run them
out of it.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
And I look, man, how much longer can they continue
to use this formula knowing that it's not going to
work against these teams that are discipline with.

Speaker 5 (08:31):
A too high coverage. They need a better running back.

Speaker 4 (08:33):
We can talk about you get a running back anywhere,
Yes you can, but you need to have a dynamic
running back that you have to account for or you'll
never get the single how safety looks that lead to
the big plays.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Hey Baldy Jawan Taylor is not good either at the
right tackle. Look Josh, like Josh said he's going to
be good.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
It's every week league penalties.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
A year ago he had three yesterday, like he's constantly
putting them behind the sticks. Matt Nagy talked about it
during the week Like you saw down in Brazil, it
was the same thing, and it starts with if he
doesn't get a great start, then then he's always trying
to grab and catch up, and that's what's been happening.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Yeah, So there's some things the Chiefs have got to
figure out here. They've got the Giants, which that front's
not going to be easy to block coming up, and
then they play the Ravens after that. So a challenging
start there for the Kansas City Chiefs. All Right, the
probably the biggest news of the day of the weekend
was Burrow getting hurt and the game that you're at there,
Buck Jacksonville Cincinnati.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
What did you see in that game. I'll give you
the floor. You can go wherever you want to go.
Let's take the Cincinnati angle.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
It's one thing to talk about a team being dynamic offensively.
It's another thing to see it firsthand and to know
going in what the game plan is to slow them
down and to watch them execute the counter tactics. First,
the combination of t Higgins and Jamar Chase Man, they
keep you up at night because both of those guys
can diet down and when you decide, okay, we're gonna

(09:59):
play soft zone, and then you got Jamar Chase catching
the ball underneath, and then you have to tackle in essence,
a running back in space that is tough because they're
running bubble screens and stuff, and he is just walking
through tackles running down the sideline. Then when you get
courageous and go one on one, Te Higgins can beat
you up the top like he did with Tyson Campbell.
Jamar Chase is a problem. He can beat you over

(10:20):
the top. He can beat you run across the field.
So it's an issue. You knock out Joe Burrow. Joe
Burrow has the thing where they can't protect the up front.
Now their offensive line remains a problem. Jake Browning comes
in a couple of plays before the half, and then
he comes in the second half and he is dink
and dunk and I'm gonna throw it to my guys
and I'm just going to be a point guard and

(10:40):
I'm gonna make the plays.

Speaker 5 (10:42):
But like if you slip up, I can hit you
over the top.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
And so we always talk about the value of having
not only a credible backup quarterback, but a quality backup
that can not only get you out of a game,
but can orchestrate a stretch of games. Jake Browning does
that because he's so familiar with the person nail in
the scheme that after he kind of shook off the Russ,

(11:05):
I didn't really see this offense take a dip off.
They have to change going forward against more talented teams
on defense, but they still can be kind of trick
and water for a little bit.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
Give Zach Taylor credit here, Bucky, because we see the
carousel of backup quarterbacks just rotating around the league, and
so who's throw this guy over here at either he's
the back I mean, they've maintained that he's not going anywhere.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
You know, he's going to be under contract. He's staying here.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
He's when Joe does something does happen like it has
happened over the last few years, like he has stepped
up and they've won a lot of games with him.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
Yeah, speaking of those White Altell went back and looked
at it. Jamar Chase was targeted seventeen times in this game,
had fourteen for a bucks sixty five, and I look,
we can debate because I'll just young the math on
that DJ.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
That's four targets a quarter.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
Yeah, No, they're freeing feed on the rock and look
and I love Justin Jefferson. And then I mean we'll
get to Malik Neighbors. And we have a lot of
really good young receivers and talented receivers in this league.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
But this dude, I told Baldy.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
Buck when I was talking to him this morning, like
when you watch him, it looks like an ied when
guys get their hands on him like DB's and it's
just like they just like they have no idea how
strong this dude is. So you want to get up
and press them. He just muscles right through it.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
But then a lot of times when you get you
get you know, a strong, fast, powerful guys that comes
with stiffness.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
Then you watch him come back down the stem and
he can get in and out and create separation when
he's working back to the quarterback. I mean it was
it was curls quick outs. They go three by one
slant touchdown that was stealing. You can you watch him
just power through press. He's a he's a bully, and
it catches everything everything, And then you want to know,
you want to play above the rim, No problem, he

(12:47):
can go do that as well. I'm like, I don't know,
I was trying to think of another receiver who's the bet.
I don't know if I can remember anybody like him
that had that kind of whole package that he has.

Speaker 4 (12:59):
They that I would would say what he reminds me of,
but with better hands. He reminds me of the delimit
that t O would put you in in terms of
his size and strength and trying to tackle him. But
he's a much better ball catcher because he catches everything,
and he is a problem because they're throwing you play
off coverage.

Speaker 5 (13:18):
They're like, Okay, we'll throw.

Speaker 4 (13:19):
These bubble streaks out here, and we're gonna make you
tackle him in a zero yard pass becomes an eleven
twelve yard game because he breaks the first tackle almost
all the time. And then if you're playing zone, he's
so good at They're running that China concept where they're
running smash corner on one side and then they run
a smash in a basic behind it, and he's just
sitting in that sauce by catching it and right up

(13:42):
the field, and I'm just like it is.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
A problem if you're a defensive back, if you're Tyson Campbell,
you have to say Jared Jones, whoever, if you're a
defensive back on him, whether you're a soft zone whatever, Like,
it's almost impossible.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
To play with Swag. It's almost impossible because you're going
to miss tackles and he's all away from me in
the air. I mean, I was looking it up. I
was like, who is twenty two with Jerry and Jones?

Speaker 2 (14:05):
Because I was watching that. That poor guy, he tried
to get his hands on him. It looked like the matrix,
so he just like went flying flying back.

Speaker 4 (14:12):
He's not fair, He's running through contact all the time.

Speaker 5 (14:16):
So then Jay and Jones gets hurt.

Speaker 4 (14:18):
So now you got a dilemma because you're like, man,
am I gonna think about putting Travis Hunter on this?

Speaker 5 (14:22):
Dude?

Speaker 4 (14:22):
If I don't put Travis Hunter, I got Jordan and
Lewis on him, and so I don't have a size
matchup to deal with him, you know, and Tyson Chemill
can go out there.

Speaker 5 (14:32):
But then on the other side, you got t Higgins
who's six'.

Speaker 4 (14:34):
Four you don't have enough big corners to be able
to match up with those, guys and that's the problem
that The Cincinnati bingles offense.

Speaker 5 (14:42):
Presents are you big enough to deal with those guys
on the? Perimeter i'm, NOW i.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
Haven't really seen a big a big play From Travis hunter.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
Yet like how About Brian Thomas junior for crying out
loud speaking to someone who may or may not have
drafted him very high in a fantasy league with his
high school FRIENDS.

Speaker 4 (15:00):
Dj he's having a tough time catching what the heck
is going, on but it looks it has. Been it's
been a. Problem it's one of the things sometimes that
you worry. About people talk about the sophomore. Slump the
sophomore slump sometimes isn't what opponents do to. You it's
the internal pressure of trying the best what you did
your rookie, season and so you have a bad play and.

Speaker 5 (15:18):
Then you can't get out of your.

Speaker 4 (15:20):
Head he's kind of been in a fog the entire training,
camp preseason and, now and he drops some passes early
and then there's an alligator arm situation that led to
a pick For, trevor and then at the end of the.

Speaker 5 (15:32):
Game, man we talk.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
About players over plays fourth, down they go to their best,
Player Brian.

Speaker 5 (15:38):
Thomas you he drops.

Speaker 4 (15:39):
It it's a killer because first, down game, over and
it comes on the heels Of Diamie brown dropping a
past three or four plays.

Speaker 5 (15:47):
Before that would have ended the. Game. Yeah, look, man
it comes down to.

Speaker 4 (15:51):
Player we can talk about coaching and, that but this
league is about players and when you put your players
in a position to make, plays they got to.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
Deliver SOMETHING i think that you can get hopeful about
if you're A jags. Fan, though because they have their
answers are in the, building they got a lot of
ways to answer these questions with the guys that they've got.
There it doesn't feel like they've got to go outside
and find. Receivers that's all. There they just got to
execute a little bit better. There let's get to the
next game, here probably the most entertaining game of the,

(16:21):
Day dallas and The. Giants, baldy you got the.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
Floor, YEAH i, MEAN i, look The giants had so
many chances to win this. Game it's almost.

Speaker 3 (16:29):
Impossible you, know you throw the touchdown pass to elite
neighbors forty eight yards to go, up you, know with
thirty three seconds to, go and you give up the
field goal By Brandon. AUBREY i, mean they made just,
play BUT i, thought you, know you Watch Tyler. Booker
now he Like Tyler booker might not be the most talented,
lineman but that guy knows how to play the, game
and he's made everybody around him. Better they Lost cooper

(16:51):
bb during the, game so you, know the backup came.
In they played very good up. Front Now burnsy made
a play And Abdul carter got a, hit and you,
Know cavon made it. Play but the players were few
and far. Between dak had a great game And Jake
ferguson was really popped in that. Game we KNEW cd would,
go but you, know you look At Javonte Williams, NOW

(17:13):
i thought that guy was washed up In, denver but.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
He had he had ninety seven.

Speaker 3 (17:17):
Yards like they did a good job of going at
that giant front and whatever's going on In New.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
York you could talk about their.

Speaker 3 (17:24):
Front But Dexter lawrence has been invisible in the first two,
weeks AND i Saw Tyler smith like just own. THEM
i Saw Tyler booker get into him and drive. Him
he has not been the force that we've seen the
last two years up. Front so that's. That but, HONESTLY
i didn't Think Russell wilson could play like this. Anymore
it was he threw for four hundred and fifty. Yards

(17:45):
it was every kind of, throw every kind of. THROW i,
mean it's it's over the top To Darius, slayton it's
over the top to malite, neighbors the first and last
touchdown to neighbors or absolute perfect throws in the end
zone and neighbors just a. BEAST i, mean his ability
just to literally square up and be the first one
off his, feet take it off the, rim his timing

(18:08):
for the jump balls or, uncanny it doesn't matter If
Trevon diggs or Kyer ilim Is. LIKE i don't know
how long they could go with him out, There BUT
i thought up, FRONT i thought they did a really
good job of Giving russell really good vision down the.
Field and when he got the space and the vision
where he didn't have to like bail from the, pocket

(18:30):
he made one great throw after, another and, honestly The
giants had three different chances to win.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
That game and they just couldn't put it.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
Away, YEAH i think What Russell wilson shows you as
a proderful player would bounce back from poor. Performances he
heard all the. NOISE i, mean, look The city Of
New york was at The Metropolitan. Area the try said
area was at him because they Want jackson told him
to feel and for him to, respond that says a
lot about the competitor that he. Is, however how often

(18:59):
are we get those performances from? Him and that's the
thing that they're going to ask. Themselves that's great and
all of, that but it's another ill in the column
for The. Giants and as You're Brian Dave ball trying
to figure out not only saving your job and what's
the best course of, action at some point the rubbers
gonna meet the row where you're going to be forced
to Play jackson Dor But i'm gonna say this last,

(19:21):
thing my guy that was losing this stuff on the,
sideline like four penalties in a, Row Dave James hudson
trying to control like, that that's a bigger. Thing you
got to squash all that now as the team is,
like that's a bigger thing to me than whatever they
got to take care of.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
That that won't happen, Again, bucky Because marcus bo just
beat him out Like marcus bo literally play almost pitches
a no hitter until the very.

Speaker 1 (19:47):
End gave up a little bit of a quarterback. Pressure
he was good in.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
Preseason he MIGHT i don't know When Andrew thomas is coming,
back but they can win With Marcus boult left. Tackle
like that, guy you, know he minds me a little.
Bit it's early, now it's just a. Game but he
reminded me a little bit Of Dion. Dawkins like he's very,
Athletic he's very good at his. Feet they threw everybody,
Out Sam, Williams marshawn kneel, In he Put Dante faller

(20:13):
on his back on a pass protection at the end
on the touchdown To Elite neighbors to take the.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
Lead he was very impressive.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
Upfront so he was initially in my top, fifty and
he was one of the fallers through the. Spring so
was he was just over six, four three hundred and three,
Pounds his arms were, sure he had thirty two inch.
Arms and then he goes to The Senior bowl and
he did. Not he had a rough week down. There
but WHEN i initially watched, TAPE i was, like lean
athletic right tackle just needs to add a little more core.

(20:43):
Strength when guys kind of got into him a little
bit on some of the college. Stuff but easy mover can.
Bend he's outstanding in, space especially, polls second level, screens
ultra ultra. Athletic but one of those, guys AND i
don't think he interviewed great with, teams so his stock
kind of fell through the process a little. Bit but
one of those. Guys there's guys like this every, year

(21:03):
and just go, Back, okay what was the? Tape, well
the tape was really really. Good and THEN i go
back To, booker who you. REFERENCE i want to pull
up My booker. Notes Tyler booker was playing great for
The cowboys six zero four five three twenty one with
thirty four and a half inch.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
Arms he's, Smart he's massive, square he's, massive so ideal size.
Smart j's so.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
Smart that's WHAT i, got all the ideal, size strength and.
Instincts plays with a firm, base he can absorb.

Speaker 1 (21:30):
Power.

Speaker 2 (21:31):
Uh he takes excellent, angles will gather and wall off.
Linebackers and they described him and this was the kicker for.
Me this guy was described as The Will anderson of their.
Offense in terms of. Leadership they SAID j. C latham
should have given him a chunk of his signing bonus
for what he did for him in terms of helping
him along his time there At. Alabama so you, know and, Look.

(21:52):
Michaeh parsons and, well that's a whole nother. Story Michael
parsons is playing his butt. Off he has been unbelievable and,
dominant And Jerry jones is getting a lot of.

Speaker 1 (21:58):
Grief BUT i do.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
Think If i'm not saying that About michael pot the,
person but you can see they've made an effort to
bring in a certain type of, kid And Tyler, BOOKER
i think is a good example of, that and they
feel like in the long term that they're kind of
building a culture there of some guys who are a
little more like minded in that.

Speaker 4 (22:17):
Way, okay look it, works and after the initial, hubbub
it's settled in because THEN dj they did what we
talked about on the. Podcast when you don't Pay, micah
what you didn't have to do is you got to
make sure that money sprinkles around the locker room so
they see that you still committed to paying the right.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
GUYS i saw them. SPRINKLING i think that's. Showering that
money is showering throughout.

Speaker 3 (22:40):
The lists flying out Of jerry right, now which which?

Speaker 2 (22:45):
Which by the, way on that, note doesn't that tell
you that it wasn't an issue want the. Money it
wasn't That jerry's finding he had the, money he could
have given him. Money this was not.

Speaker 5 (22:54):
That it's a bigger.

Speaker 4 (22:56):
Thing and eventually the truth always kind of comes out
when it comes to those. Things they wanted to reward
a different type player from a football characters, standpoint then
mikeh And michah can be happy In Green. Bay but
for The, cowboys As Brian schottenheimer And jerry and everyone's
resetting the, culture you understand where they're. Going And i'll say,

(23:16):
this you can look up The, cowboys despite how they
played against The giants defensive lead or, whatever there's a
reasonable way where we could talk about The cowboys being
two and up because.

Speaker 3 (23:26):
Hey elston was right. There i'll just take one other
footnote here on. This Tyler, BOOKER i met him at
The Offense Line masterminds two years ago when he was
going into his last year At. Alabama you know the
nil money he flew he paid for everybody in the
offensive line to come to offense line.

Speaker 1 (23:41):
Masterminds.

Speaker 3 (23:42):
Wow they took a table in the front. Row they
were the first ones into the building before we. Started
tyler introduced himself to me and asked me IF i
could just put up The Alabama georgia game and tell
they wanted my input to how they played in that.

Speaker 1 (23:59):
Game it's just all about, Ball like that kid is
just like.

Speaker 3 (24:03):
You like every offensive, lineman every offensive line needs like
an alpha dog like to just take. CHARGE i think
he's already that. Guy Tyler smith has been that. GUY
i think they got another one right. There and so
the guard position is in good shape In, dallas.

Speaker 4 (24:18):
WHICH i remember you heard him talking about taking defender's
souls like he talked about that and when you when
you have that. LOOK i Just i'm scarred from The
Great wall Of dallas when they had all those great
guys two AND a.

Speaker 5 (24:30):
Whatever i'm with the PACK.

Speaker 4 (24:31):
Bea we just can't beat them when their offensive line is.
Dominant The cowboys are always really, good AND i think
they're kind of getting back to that.

Speaker 1 (24:41):
Premise, yeah they're playing good.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
Ball and a couple other guys to Highlight Jake Ferguson
bald he mentioned him for a. Second to, me one
of the great traits of a good tight end is
just spatial awareness and feel him And dack see the
game the. Same when he gives him is he gives.
Him he's really good at giving him his, numbers so
he gives him a nice clean read as a quarterback
to find out where he's going to. Be had a
big catch late in this ball. Game he can go

(25:04):
up and catch the ball outside of his. Frame he's
a good, player underrated. Player and Then George.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
Pickens got loose a little bit in this game.

Speaker 2 (25:11):
Too we, knew we knew what they had In Ceedee,
lamb But George, pickens they're figuring out how to use,
him which is a lot of, slants a lot of,
crossers keep him on the.

Speaker 1 (25:17):
Move, well here's, here here's the stat to keep tracking
On George.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
Pickens so he drew two defensive pass interference penalties, yesterday
and he drew one against The. Eagles like you're trying
to figure, out like when the balls in the, Air
like like how you play the ball in the air
determined some of these. Games but like people are grabbing
At pickens with the ball in the, air and he's
he's gotten three big plays down the field because of

(25:43):
those defensive pence.

Speaker 2 (25:44):
Pounds, yeah, no it's a it's a cowboy. Team buck
mentioned it could easily be two and oho off to
a really good start here and look like a legit
contender in THE. Nfc we'll take a quick. Break we'll
knock out a couple more games right after. This all, right,
guys let's keep the train rolling. Here Seattle, Pittsburgh, buck

(26:05):
this is a you can go on any side you.
WANT i like this kind of format that we have
here BECAUSE i can open it up to you where
you want to, go.

Speaker 5 (26:12):
You, KNOW.

Speaker 4 (26:13):
Dj here's the thing about The pittsburgh still it's like
for all of the things that were positive about the
edge that they were looking, for the winning pedigree and those,
things what you Saw Seattle seahawks coming into the house
and beating, them you saw some of the deficiencies that
still showed up with this team, Offensively LIKE i like,
It Aaron, rodgers the four TIME, Mvp like you want

(26:34):
to have those. Things but, still this this team has
to play a certain way for them to. Win AND
i think as they're figuring out that, formula whether it's
to run heavy, recipe GET dk involved and find another
weapon somewhere on offense in the passing game to help.

Speaker 5 (26:49):
THEM i still think it's a narrow margin of error
for them when it comes to how they have to.

Speaker 4 (26:55):
Play toughness and all that is, great but if they
can't control the game defensively, OFFENSIVELY i don't know if
they're ever going to be the hot octane offense to
be able to get over twenty eight points a game
to compete with some of the heavyweights in the.

Speaker 3 (27:10):
LEAGUE i watched this game And seattle's defensive. Front you,
know some guys just do actually get better with. Age
Leonard williams just keeps getting back like he is a,
dominant dominant player in this business right. Now he's in
his eleventh, YEAR i. Think but he sets the. Table
But Byron murphy showed, Up Boy mafe showed. Up Jaron

(27:33):
reid always shows. Up Derek hall showed. Up like their
front they didn't blitz the entire. Day they didn't need.
To they're front four control the line of. Scrimmage AND
i don't know right, now, guys how many Hits Aaron
rodgers can take the way he's taken the first two
weeks they have not protected. Him, well he does not
move well in the, pocket but he's He and then you,

(27:57):
know like guys that just can't escape the, hocket you,
know they get they get crushed in. There and so
all those guys rotated. THROUGH i thought they did a
great job of getting after the quarterback with just four and, so,
uh you, know they really limited any explosive plays from
The steelers in that.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
Game that was that was.

Speaker 3 (28:16):
Impressive and then two rookies to really kind of highlight
Was one Was horton he called the touchdown of the.
Game and then There's Elijah. Aroro can never stay healthy At.
Miami you all knew he could. Run he showed up
in the senior, balls you guys, know like he had
he had a couple of plays like the. Rookies all,
Right DK's on the other side. Now but the two

(28:37):
rookies kind of stepped. Up we know What Jackson smith
And jigma can be and it is so far this
Season he's been a.

Speaker 1 (28:43):
Monster but those two ROOKIES i, thought showed.

Speaker 5 (28:46):
Up.

Speaker 2 (28:46):
Yeah, no it's gonna up being a really good draft
class with grades abel for. Them John, Schnighter he's solving
a lot of their. Issues and you, know defensive tackle
is a position that over the years are paying attention to.
It it's one of those ones WHERE i think everybody
afects us to be a microwave. Situation these guys come
right into the league and then all of a sudden
you see these dominant players.

Speaker 1 (29:05):
That is one of. Them that is the.

Speaker 2 (29:06):
Position you have to be, patient And i've seen it
with a bunch of. Guys you see the light come
on year, two year, three sometimes even beyond, that and
you'll see defensive tackles take. Off we were just talking
about we were just talking about The lawrence and uh
with The. Giants that took him a minute before he came.
Along SO i pulled back up My Byron murphy Because i'm,
LIKE i, KNOW i was a big fan Of Byron.

(29:27):
Murphy's oh, yeah, SO i mean he's just a second
year of player, here BUT i thought that game was
kind of a coming out.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
Party uh.

Speaker 2 (29:34):
Yesterday, yeah he was just over six six four two
ninety seven ran four eight. Seven my comp for him
Was Ed. Oliver Like oliver when he was coming, out
he can roll as, Hips he's super. Twitchy, uh you'll
see him jump gaps just to change of directions and stuff's. Elite,
uh he's got incredible. Balance he does that thing where

(29:54):
he'll go to a knee to one knee to kind
of maintain his leverage and can play innerneath the. Pads
SO i was a really big fan of his and
then seeing, this you, know this is what he can.
Be And Leonard, williams for some, reason he gets. Bigger
he looks like he's just like an avatar that they
keep widening their fingers and it's making him broader and.

Speaker 1 (30:13):
Bigger, well he's. Unbelievable he is a really really good.

Speaker 3 (30:16):
Player you, know that was a fourteen fourteen game in
the third quarter and there was a ten point.

Speaker 1 (30:22):
Swing we all saw the kickoff like.

Speaker 3 (30:24):
It's just you, know special teams, Man like you give
up a touchdown like that on a kickoff after you you,
know go up seventeen. Fourteen next, thing you, know you
come on the, field you're down, Ten like that's just
a boneheaded play like they. Did you have to if
you're a guy who's going to be back, here he's
got to know all the rules about this kickoff.

Speaker 1 (30:43):
Thing and it was clearly he didn't understand.

Speaker 5 (30:45):
It you, know that's. One that's one of the. Things
that's one of the.

Speaker 4 (30:49):
Things we have young players who never really had to
play special teams in. College even though it's a, difference
it's the little nuances that are we really know the
details with so many new guys playing new, roles and
it's a very important goal in the kicking.

Speaker 5 (31:02):
Game so we.

Speaker 4 (31:03):
Got to make sure we talk to, him we teach,
him we lecture, him we show them video highlights because
they don't know and it's clear that it's a. Muff
but you, know in college and in high, school that
team goes to the end zo to whistle right, Away
so you got to know in the, Pros, hey this
thing is. Different we gotta down, it all of. It
it's just he was.

Speaker 5 (31:23):
The star player At.

Speaker 4 (31:24):
Iowa he didn't have to do those, things and so it's,
hey we got to make sure he's up to. Speed
so as much AS i want to blame the, KID
i also got to make sure that he was taught
and coach.

Speaker 5 (31:32):
That, yeah for.

Speaker 3 (31:35):
The special teams coach right, there he's Got you put
that kid back. There you better know every single thing
about this these kick rules right.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
Now so the offense for The Seattle. Seahawks i'm Gonna
i'm gonna dub it THE a blinking. Offense. Guys remember
you got a blink in the, hat, Right so everything
to the perimeter very, short but then everything down the,
middle we can get that nice little pop hat. There
so it's just like THE a blinking. Offense so we
are gonna we're going to USE jsn And Cooper cup

(32:03):
and we can get them. Out let's get them fanned,
Out we'll get them the ball out in the, perimeter
let them use their, physicality run after, catch and then
we're going to stretch the seams with these. Guys we're
gonna let them work in the middle of the. Field
they hit the deep post Against Jalen ramsey WITH jsn
late in this ball. Game but it IS i Think
sam's really. Comfortable he's comfortable working in the middle of the.
FIELD i was curious because you, know you're looking at these,

(32:24):
uh duplicative duplicative. DUPLICITOUS i don't know how you want
to use that, word but when you HAVE jsn And Cooper,
cup you're like kind of a similar, style you, know slot.

Speaker 1 (32:34):
In the middle.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
Field how are they going to work those? Guys it's working,
man it worked in this, game and they they're both so,
smart And sam's a smart. GUY i think this offense
is going to be fun to watch as they play
more and more together to see what.

Speaker 1 (32:47):
They've got the, money you.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
Know, Yeah And i'm been a sharpena guy OVER k
NINE k nine random ball really really well in this.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
GAME i gotta give J it's a fun. Team The
Seattle seahawks are kind of a one team to.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
Watch, man they look well, coached even to the loss
Of San. FRANCISCO i, MEAN i, thought you, KNOW i,
mean If Jarik woollen makes a play the end.

Speaker 1 (33:08):
Zone he's right there to. Make who knows what happens To.

Speaker 4 (33:11):
No BUT i THINK dj your theory when you talk
ABOUT jsn And Cooper. CUP i think there is the
interchangeability between those slot. RECEIVERS i also think there's a
lot of hidden yardage inside the numbers and really in
between the. HASHES i think it's really easy to create
those high low, concepts those jerk rock concepts where you
jerk the man.

Speaker 5 (33:30):
Away AND i think if you have play callers and.

Speaker 4 (33:35):
Quarterbacks who are fearless when it comes to throwing it in,
traffic there's a lot of yardage to be. Made AND
i also think with the play action, game you can
create those big windows with the ball fakes because it
affects those second those second level defenders inside much more
than it does the guys on the.

Speaker 5 (33:51):
Perimeter, yeah, no it's it's a good.

Speaker 2 (33:54):
Team baldy mentioned all that speed and athleticism in their
front seven. Defensively now, OFFENSIVELY i think you're going to
see that identity kind of new, coordinator new, quarterbacks and new.
Receivers like it's gonna in the new offensive. Line it's
gonna take it a little, while but this is already
what we're getting week. Two i'm excited to see what
this looks like we get a month from, now no.
Question all, right maybe one of the bigger surprises to

(34:15):
the season Is Indianapolis colts being two and. Old, baldy
they get a big one over The Denver.

Speaker 3 (34:20):
Broncos i'm still, Like i'm, Look chicago's a. Mess that's another.
STORY i don't know how anybody could Watch Tyler ward
At Penn state and not go that guy is going
to transfer to THE. NFL i got to Give Shane
snike in. Credit you, know they had dead four plays
in his game three in the first half of forty

(34:40):
plus pass, plays forty plus forty plus yard pass, plays
and the first one was A Tyler warren and you,
know he's in a wy wide, formation him And Mohlei.
Cox they move him to the, backfield so it's like
a power pistol formation and they go play action To
Jonathan taylor and they they they Leak warren right through

(35:01):
the middle linebackers are looking At john and he gets
Right patty And Daniel jones just floats it and next
thing you, know like this guy's just going to barrel
down the. Field you, know he's kind of just run.
Through he goes forty one. Yards it sets up their first,
core like the way they're Using Tyler. Warren and then
the bigger, story honestly Is Daniel jones BECAUSE i just
pulled off seven throws and three of them Were Sir

(35:23):
tam just throwing a drap over the, receivers whether it
Was pearce Or, warren and the throw Beats Patrick sirtan
on one third down after. Another and so this is
two weeks in a row where you, Go, Okay Shane
stikes is doing a good. Job he's Doing Daniel jones
is playing quarterback and like you, Know benito is hitting
him right in the chest And Jack allen is all over,
him and he's got a dirty, pocket all the things

(35:46):
that we would see In New york and you, go oh,
god this is a.

Speaker 1 (35:48):
Disaster it's just not happening right.

Speaker 3 (35:50):
Now it's like whatever they've done to, him he's playing
the game without, Thinking like he's making these. Throws the
ball's going where he wants it to. Go and that
seemed to always be a question for six years In New.

Speaker 5 (36:05):
York i'm gonna say.

Speaker 4 (36:07):
THIS i think he's playing with better personnel around, him
and the play caller has found a way to puff
him full of confidence.

Speaker 5 (36:14):
And is tailoring the game To daniel jones.

Speaker 4 (36:16):
STRENGTHS dj AND i have talked, about like what The
colts have gone all in on is they've been drafting the.
Freaks if you look at the, guys they're comine results
and you add their athleticism, score they're all high end. Performers,
well now you just need a point guard who can
get the ball to them and get out the.

Speaker 5 (36:33):
Way so we're seeing some of.

Speaker 4 (36:34):
That Jonathan taylor still commands a bunch of attention in the,
backfield they run it to.

Speaker 5 (36:39):
Him they're able to create and dictate the.

Speaker 4 (36:41):
Terms, so, hey if you can play soft, cool we'll
head it off to this guy over and over and over.
Again you change your, coverage now we get it to the.
Perimeter and then With Daniel, JONES i felt like The
colts one they made a wise decision to go and
Get Daniel jones when they were struggling With Anthony. Richardson
they were always a better decision maker away from being
a much more effective.

Speaker 5 (37:01):
Team and so that is really.

Speaker 4 (37:03):
Working and the complimentary ball that they're, playing because the
underrated sign is Lou Anna remote coming over on this.
Defense the defense is more, dynamic they do more, different more,
things and so it's working. Together and now a team
that we kind of cast aside their legitimate threat to
win the division and maybe make noise as they continue
to put this together With Daniel jones playing like what

(37:25):
his high school coach nick named, Them.

Speaker 5 (37:27):
Swaggy, yes Swag swaggy is over here making.

Speaker 4 (37:31):
Plays his confidence is, real and now they're beginning to
believe each and every week he plays, well the team
believes in, them and that is a force.

Speaker 5 (37:41):
Multiplier as they go down the.

Speaker 2 (37:43):
Stretch if you're looking for a reclamation project at, quarterback
maybe go grab somebody that's playing in The New york. Market,
Smith Sam, Donald Gino Smith Sam. Donald now we See
Daniel jones doing his thing that That New york. MARKET i, mean,
really the only the onlyquarterback who had sustained success In
New York Jets giants Is Eli. Manning over what the

(38:05):
last thirty years where you've seen somebody at that position
have sustained. Success they chew up and spit out quarterbacks,
There so it's looking like a good move. There the
other thing, is don't don't get a twist. Either Jonathan
taylor was awesome in this game and just the to
me when he was coming out one of the things
THAT i won't say that that concerned me or THAT
i maybe question and maybe WHY i didn't have him

(38:27):
in the like as a top ten, player which he's
probably proven to be in that draft, class top, ten
top fifteen type. Player SO i know how loose and
elusive he, was and HE i don't know what he's,
done if he's done yoga or what he's done since
he's been in THE, nfl but he's still got that
straight line, speed big time, burst but he's making guys
miss in space and you watch.

Speaker 1 (38:46):
Guys three yard running the fourth QUARTER dj and. Patches
he can't catch. It, NO i doesn't touch a, man.
Can't he's like he's. Laboring And Jonathan taylor's just like
they couldn't get him off his. Feet, no that was a.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
Depressive the other thing Is Chris ballard and people, always,
uh you, know do we take who do we?

Speaker 1 (39:05):
Take do we take for? Need you draft for need
or you draft you know best. Available this is a
great example of when it just the, draft gods shine
on you and it happens to be a position you
need and you.

Speaker 2 (39:15):
GET i thought was the sixth best player in the
draft with the fourteenth, pick so you get tremendous. Value
it all lined up With Tyler warren and, uh and
that one to, Me i'm going back through my notes on.
Him Tyler, Warren massive use him in some wildcat. Stuff
he's got, size he's got catch, radius he's got. Tenacity
he's physical with the ball in his. Hands after the,
catch guy just bounce off of. Him and he's strong

(39:38):
at the point of attacking the. Run Game like this
is a complete tight.

Speaker 3 (39:41):
End, Man he's one of those guys though you meet
him and he doesn't say two, words but he transforms
when he's on a football, field like he lets all
of his play do all of his. Talking you, know
it's just it's fun to. Watch BUT i think he
gives this team a real. Toughness you know that every
team is looking for and every and sometimes it's with.

(40:01):
Players sometimes it's you, know a system or a culture
that gets. Overused but he just gives that team a.
Toughness right, now he's blocking after the, catch just the
way that he, takes just the way he takes the
ball out of the, air what he does.

Speaker 2 (40:15):
With it, now it's, uh it's fun to watch him
in This colts team off to tuno. Start bucky mentioned. It,
man they've got a good.

Speaker 1 (40:22):
Shot it's, early but they've got a really good shot
inside that division to to stay in the race deep
end of the.

Speaker 2 (40:27):
Season we'll see if they can keep it. Rolling let's
hit one more guys The sunday night. Game Baldy. ATLANTA
i don't know WHAT i do know what. Happened i've
been wondering If atlanta would ever have a pass rush
in my, lifetime and that looks like they finally found.

Speaker 3 (40:44):
One, well they went all they went all defense in
the first four, picks you, know and it started With Jalen.
Walker he got his first. Sack James, pearce like he
was a. Factor these two defensive Ack Xavier watch And Billy.
BOWMAN i think everybody loved him coming out Of Notre
dame In. Oklahoma they both get, interceptions they seal the
game at the. End they made life. Difficult Billy bowman

(41:05):
is JUST i, mean like maybe He's Bob. SANDERS i
don't know about that, size like he's got like he's
just a. Force and that defense they played pretty. Well
they didn't close the game out Against Tampa booka beat
him at the. End but the two weeks in a.
Row now the pass rush and it's not just the

(41:25):
guys that they just, drafted but they brought In Leonard.
Floyd they Had dorelyn right. There they drafted last Year
Brandon Dolans. DORLESS i Guess Doless.

Speaker 1 (41:35):
Doorless, yeah, yeah he's he's a.

Speaker 3 (41:36):
Factor the kid From clemson THAT i can't pronounce his
last name Of ulcorco or.

Speaker 1 (41:41):
Whatever, yeah.

Speaker 3 (41:47):
They have like you, KNOW jj looked really good in
that fourth quarter last, week and he was They they
literally never let him get comfortable the whole.

Speaker 5 (41:56):
Night, Look i'm gonna say.

Speaker 4 (41:59):
This anytime you can look at the stash sheet and
see thirty nine rushing, attempts you're dictating the terms. Offensively
the fact That Bjehon Rominson tyler's, year they come back
for thirty eight. Carries you talk about over two hundred rushing,
yards and the way the ying and the yang between
these guys and when they needed to close it out
running the, football being, physical Allowing Michael pinnix to BE

(42:22):
i would say the complimentary piece as opposed to the main.
DISH i dig it and as long as their defense
can keep the game where they're able to kind of
stay within their, box just run a game as a.

Speaker 5 (42:32):
Factor and finally Seeing bjon do his, THING i love it.

Speaker 3 (42:35):
WELL i just real, QUICK i did a breakdown On
Bjeon swaran's proud of myself with no sleep or. Anything
baby said like the second run of the, day he
went for twenty five and he went for seventeen the
first two players of the, game so you go forty
two yard but it was smoked through a, keyhole LIKE.

Speaker 1 (42:49):
I don't know how it got.

Speaker 3 (42:50):
Through The vikings had four guys right, there and somehow
he came through. It and we all saw the replay
of him not going, down just spinning over the top
of his man like all the talent that both of
you saw coming out Of, texas like it is on
full display right.

Speaker 1 (43:06):
Now, yeah let's pull let's pull up the notes. Here
that's fun to, do and we're doing this kind of.
STUFF i remember JUST i, REMEMBER i think it was
a Senior. BOWL i.

Speaker 3 (43:15):
WAS i was in THE i was in the studio WITH,
lt AND i REMEMBER i Asked laedanian what he Thought
jean was going to, run AND i think he said
four four.

Speaker 1 (43:26):
ONE i think he got. It he ran full four.
Six he ran four four.

Speaker 3 (43:30):
SIX i THINK lt actually hit it right right. On
but he, said this IS lt, now and you, know
you know how humble he. Is but he did say
that he Thought bijeon was the closest guy coming out
that reminded him of.

Speaker 1 (43:42):
Himself. YEP i THINK i think that's very.

Speaker 2 (43:44):
FAIR i, mean that was a that was a draft
where that comparison was made numerous. Times low pad, level
stop start Quicks he's got a rhythm and feel to.
Him he can uncoil through, tackles which is just you
just see him just explode through. Tackles they ran him
in the past game on verts from the. Backfield just

(44:06):
a real, loose, fluid, smooth explosive. Runner the only, question
the only knock on him was just anchor and pass.

Speaker 1 (44:11):
Protection like that was.

Speaker 2 (44:13):
It there was no other flaws in his game to
the point WHERE i thought he was as a running
back as clean as anybody we'd seen Since. Saquon and
NOW i think you can kind of see those. GUYS
i don't, know those aren't the best two running backs
in THE nfl right. Now if you had an open
draft for running, BACKS i think those are probably the
first two picks with those two guys and what they're
doing one question, buck so we've seen this. YEAR i

(44:35):
was just going through the list of.

Speaker 1 (44:36):
Guys of safeties and hold, on let me pull it
back up.

Speaker 2 (44:41):
Here but we got two safeties started in that. Game Billy,
bowman Who blady, mentioned Like bob, says he's just under
five to, ten one hundred ninety two, pounds ran four
to four to. Two is a really really good player
and he's playing, well But kuba has a huge pick
in The eagles. Game Craig woodson has started at a
cow was one of my favorites coming through this. Process
You Malachi starks just jumped right into the mix with

(45:03):
The Baltimore ravens and has become one of their. Favorites
of all their guys in that, organization they all love.
Him why are we seeing safeties which used to be
with all the responsibilities and communication and all that. Stuff
why are we seeing these guys make such an immediate.

Speaker 4 (45:17):
Impact so here's a funny thing going way way back
WHEN i was In, buffalo and then WHEN i was
scouting In, seattle we had an old, Coach Dick, roach
And Dick roch, said the perfect the perfect. Safety back,
then it would be A Sean springs type athlete playing
in the middle of the, field he. Said the game
and this is early two, thousand he, said the game

(45:39):
is involved in where you really have.

Speaker 5 (45:40):
One safety in three corners or four corners on the.

Speaker 4 (45:43):
Field and what we're seeing are guys playing in the
middle of field with cornerback like athleticism and, instincts but
with the HIGH iq that you need at. Safety and
as the game has advanced and trickled down to the
lower levels where they're throwing it.

Speaker 5 (45:57):
More you're now.

Speaker 4 (45:58):
Getting guys who are very experienced and the passing, game
but have the toughness to make tackles in the running.
Game and as teams have shot away from, running it
allows you to put a better athlete on the, field
but you still value the guy that can come into
hole and. Tackle you still have to be able to do,
that but we're putting a better product.

Speaker 3 (46:17):
THERE.

Speaker 4 (46:17):
DJ i just remember sitting in the scouting meetings and
before we just moved him to.

Speaker 5 (46:20):
Safety because it was like a.

Speaker 4 (46:23):
Throwaway now when it's a very valuable, POSITION i think
people are prioritizing it that by putting better athletes, there
and you're seeing better.

Speaker 3 (46:31):
Production, WELL i THINK i think if the trend, continues
it will be a healthy. Trend BECAUSE i felt like
teams had to overpay in free agency to go get
their safeties and that's what we, saw you, Know Jesse
bates whatever like they. NOW i mean you just look
at The caraself guys that were going around from team
to team and they were getting them in and they

(46:52):
couldn't find them in. College who they're getting them in free.

Speaker 2 (46:54):
Agency, yeah we, know off the ball linebackers and. Safeties
that used to be the movie because it's, like, well
if we need a guy to come in and help
us right, now it just can be hard to get
a player right off the college field up and running
in the nerve center of our, defense right in the
middle of our, defense you, know as an inside linebacker is.
SAFETY i think what we're seeing is a lot of
these kids are coming in more.

Speaker 1 (47:14):
Prepared.

Speaker 2 (47:14):
Now maybe this is the seven on. Seven maybe it's
just you've played so many reps and seven on seven
is a. Safety you've seen every route, combination you know
how to you know sort and sift through.

Speaker 3 (47:23):
Everything last thing on that, Game Michael pennix didn't throw
for a lot of.

Speaker 1 (47:28):
Yards, yeah well that guy can throw. Football it just Darts.
Bucky like that.

Speaker 3 (47:35):
Guy he sets his, feet he makes quick decisions and smart,
decisions and he's very accurate with the. Ball And vijon
And algier they carried it for, Sure but he made
a lot of key throws in that game just to sustain.
Offense and just two weeks in a, row like he
he's an impressive young quarterback in this.

Speaker 2 (47:52):
LEAGUE i think one of the one of the themes
as we wrap up the episode today and again all
the games we didn't, hit we'll get to. Tomorrow but
one of my last thoughts And buck and you go
around the, horn we can wrap this thing. UP i
feel like if you're looking for a thread of our conversations,
today like we talked About, seattle how athletic and fast
their front, Was we've talked With atlanta and their front

(48:12):
and how athletic and explosive and fast they. Are philadelphia
with their group of. Guys, man if you want to
have a great, defense you better have an, explosive fast.

Speaker 1 (48:22):
Team. YEAH i will not tell you many slow defenses
that are a feared in this.

Speaker 4 (48:27):
League, look it's always speed, speed, speed and it starts
inside and outside like the linebacker, level the safety. Level
the faster your team is being able to run, down
you eliminate the explosive, plays but you also begin to
produce takeaways because that speed leads to multiple hits on
the ball carrier or the pass receiver the ball pops.

Speaker 1 (48:47):
Up we're seeing a lot of that happen over the
course of the.

Speaker 2 (48:49):
Year, So, BALDY i, thought with all the shell coverage
we see in the league that you know he's talking
about the size of the front being more important because
you're going to have stop the run with fewer.

Speaker 1 (48:57):
Bodies BUT i feel like it's.

Speaker 2 (48:59):
A combination of some of that. Size but then it's
the athleticism on the. Edges it's the linebackers being able
to cut, angles shoot. Gaps if it feels.

Speaker 1 (49:07):
Like to me they're combatting with fewer, numbers that speed
has become an element of, that not just the size
of These.

Speaker 3 (49:12):
NO i couldn't agree more and you saw. It and
then the other thing is just if teams are important
a great deal of resources into their defensive, front they're
not building team the right way because nobody has just.
Four you've got to have, six, seven eight right, now
because it's a long. Season we're only In, september and
you know you've got to keep these guys fresh to

(49:34):
get through the, season get To december for the big,
game no.

Speaker 1 (49:37):
Doubt, well this is.

Speaker 2 (49:38):
FUN i love, MONDAYS i know you guys enjoy listening to,
this and we're going to keep this rolling throughout the.

of these. Games we'll recap the rookie. Draft we'll have
