Speaker 1 (00:00):
And now Move the Sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
What's up, everybody.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Welcome to move the sticks, DJ and Buck with you.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
Buck.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
So fired up for this one today because we get
to go get our buddy, one of the best to
play the position at the running back position over the
last I would say two decades, some monster seasons and
also one of the funnest guys to hang out with.
I mean, he's just the absolute best.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
The absolute best.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
So this is Marius Jones Drew's appearance on the podcast.
Is the MJD Bowl this weekend in London and Wembley Stadium.
Jaguar's taking on the Rams. He's going to be on
the enemy side. He's going to be on the Rams
side and being the Jacks. So it should be fun
to have a conversation about him on all things running
backs and touch on.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
A little bit about the Bowl game. Yeah, we're able
to wrestle him down between a really busy schedule yesterday,
so we wanted to give that one for you today
for our pod. This is our conversation with Maurice Jones Drew.
All right, Buck, let's let's bring in our buddy. Let's
go to London and uh and bring in Maurice Jones
Streu so we can talk a little running backs, his
favorite topic. First of all, how are you doing over there, Budy?
(01:08):
What time is it?
Speaker 4 (01:09):
It is six twenty five. Uh, feel a little lonely.
I thought Bucky would be here already. You don't know
what I'm saying. My dog, But my dog don't come
in until later. So I'm just trying to figure things out.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
I'm I'm gonna let you get it warmed up from
you before I get over there. And I'm trying to
figure out because you go over so much. I mean,
I feel like you are a native. What's your middle
of choice over there? What should go to in London?
It just what are you looking for?
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Non?
Speaker 3 (01:35):
Be honest with you, No, No, I'm trying to like
what like you got, the whole you got, the whole
world is your oyster?
Speaker 1 (01:39):
You do whatever? We can go for one deal like
saxy Fish. I'll go to Sexific.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
Because the ambiance right, little sushi there, a little ambiance.
Actually went there with Roger Goodell a couple of years ago.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
The tab was pretty high. I was nervous. I thought
I was gonna have to pay for it, but Roger pulled.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Out the car. Save your boy. You know what I'm saying, to.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
Be quite honest with you, I love coming over here because,
you know, one you're growing the game and it's awesome.
But the other part is you're in the center of
the world. So me and my cousin, we just flew
to Lisbon for like two days, stretch our legs a
little bit. You know, I've flown other places and then
you know, kind of get a vibe of what Europe's like,
(02:21):
you know, just trying to fill it out. I actually,
uh just got back, so that's why I was a
little late.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
But yeah, you know, it's a good time.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
But like I said, sexy Fish, you can go to
Slim Chicken right down the street from the hotel, right
the little little burrito spot. I don't know the name
of the brito spot, but it just depends on whatever
you're looking for. You want some ambiance, do you want
just a little quick meal, whatever you like, I got
it for you.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
Just hit up your boys.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Okay, I got MJD's he's dialed. He's already dialed in
over there. Why we got you, dude. I wanted to
hit you up on some running back stuff because we
pulled some numbers, and it is interesting, like just through
week six last year to this year, we've got across
the league, you know, twenty two thousand, three hundred ninety
three rushing yards, which is over one thousand more than
we had last year. We've got six hundred and four
(03:05):
runs of ten plus yards compared to five forty three
last year. We've got thirty five hundred yard games compared
to twenty eight last year. So and I can go
on and on and on and on and on, but man,
you've been you've been dying for this day to come. MJD.
I feel like we have. We have gotten back to
nineties football right now. The way teams are running a rock.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
Well, I feel like, you know, you go through these
waves of the NFL, right you're talking about, you know,
throwing the football and Patrick Mahomes doing it for fifty
touchdowns with his first year, and everyone's trying to throw
the football to win, but when actually, in all actuality,
you have a quarterback that'll struggle and your running game
is going to save you. And so I just go
to Carolina right away, right when I when you talk
(03:46):
of running backs.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
I think a recal daddle backup running back rustles.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
For over two hundred, well two two hundred scrimmage jars
back to back games, right, they are they are running
the football purposely, right, and they're they're they're getting down here.
They're doing some great things. And I go to the Raiders,
for example, who aren't running the football like that.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
They're trying to get to doing that.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
But g you know, Smith has ten picks on the year,
and so you could look at teams and just see
the I guess the correlation of running the football and
wins for most of these teams. Right, the Panthers, we
were considered to start the season not one of the
better teams.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
They beat the Cowboys.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
They've beaten some really good teams, right, they beat the Falcons.
And then you go to the Raiders, who weren't running
football early on, who are starting run the football. They're
getting better, and so I just think the run game
is coming back.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
I think the players are coming back.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
I even look at Tampa for example, Bucky Urban's having
a heck of a year. He gets hurt that Rashad
White comes in and he's going crazy and so and
I can even you know, I can go to the
two teams. I hope that we're going to talk about
here in the mjd E Bowl that's coming up. But
like Travis at and what he's doing right for the Jags,
and while he's helping Trevor Lawrence and then obviously Karen
Williams what he does for the Rams, you know, and
(04:57):
so those are the running game is back. I think
people are being more I guess purposeful with running the football.
It's not just a necessary evil. It's like we need
to get we need to control the line of scrimmage.
We need to get our guys going forward. We'll be
able to take shots off a play action pass. And
it's working out a lot for a lot of teams.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
You know.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
It's funny.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
I had a chance to watch the game Monday night,
and the Atlanta Falcons were getting busy with their running game.
It might have been the best game that I've seen
from John Robinson. I know he keeps changing the pronunciation.
I want to give him respect, talk about that, like
he is a unique playmaker. How running backs not only
need to be able too down here runners, but they
need to catch the ball out of the backfield. What
(05:38):
is going on with the I would say not the renaissance,
but the.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
Re emergence of the RB one in the league.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
Yeah, it's so crazy because that's how I trained my son, Right,
I trained my son to be Christian McCaffrey. Right, people
like that, that sounds weird. You played in the NFL,
I go, I caught the ball, you know I did.
I caught check downs and did running back routes every
now and then.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
They me out at wide receiver.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
But when you could put Christian McCaffrey in the slot,
you could put him out wide. He can run a comeback,
He can do certain things that puts pressure on the defense.
And when you talk about John Robinson, right, my old
college roommate is his running back coach, Michael Petrie, who's
my fullback at UCLA. And literally when they drafted him,
it was between him and Gibbs. They went with him.
(06:23):
He was super excited because of that ability. Right, that
he can play wide receiver, he can play running back.
He was talking about some of the thing that being
him used to do with me at UCLA.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
Besides cuss me out. Right, he susould like put in
the position to be better and do some other things.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
But he also talked about his short area of quickness
and when you.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
Could get a guy in space like that.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
And I know they ran the heck out of the
football against Buffalo, but when he was in space, it's
like his starting stop is unmatched. Like he slams on
the break, he gets going right away and guys are
sliding and falling out the way. He's able to break tackles.
He could run inside, he can run outside, he could
return kicks and punts. He could do it all. And
so I think, you know again, I remember when I
had my son, and my son talked about wanting to
(07:04):
play running back. Bro, if this is what you want
to do, we have to go with the new phase
of running back. It's not gonna be Dereck Henry's all
the time, or Priest Holmes, the guys that I watch, right,
it's gonna be You're gonna have to be a dual
threat guy. A guy that can return kicks and punts,
can play wide receiver, can run inside and outside, can
pick up pass protection. Right, we don't talk about that
(07:25):
with bijonn Robinson.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
How he picks up blitzes.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
Right, He's one of the best at that as well,
and so not coming off the field is one of
the things that you're looking for. And again I just
did my top fifteen backs. I had him at number
one is because he could do everything, and everything is
to me, is what you want, right. I don't want
a guy that can just be a first or second
down guy.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
You lose value. To me.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
I need a guy that could be a five down
back if we have to, I means we got to
put you out there on defense.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
You could play nickel corner or whatever.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
Guess what, go out there and get you some right,
we need to make sure that we can use him
in that manner and talk with Michael Petri is the
way he says, the way he prepares, and the way
he goes about his every his routine every week is
not surprising. What's happened on Monday night and other games
when he's out there. Why, Quite frankly, he's put itself
to be one of the upper echelon in the NFL
at the position.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
I was going through MJD looking at the top five
guys so far just rushing yards per game, and I
was curious to see if there's similarity to how they're
using I actually found a lot of differences, and I
want to get your take on it, because just let's
just go with this simple aspect. We're talking about jon Robinson.
They're living in the pistol man like he's he's they
have panics in the pistol where he's very comfortable. I
think that's probably even more about him than their run game.
(08:37):
But they're popping runs, you know, split zones and all
the stuff they're doing out of the gun there. Then
you look at Jonathan Taylor, it's a mixture, a little
more gun than under. But bro, how about this. This
one shocked me. I went through James Cook every single
explosive run. I think he had like eleven or twelve
of them under center, every single one.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
So I'm just.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
Curious, as someone who's played the position at such a
high level, what are the advantages and wired teams doing
it in these different ways, just even from those three
standpoints under center, pistol, and then the gun.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
Yeah, so I'll tell you this.
Speaker 4 (09:10):
I was never a big fan of pistol because I
can't see over the quarterback right Like, I'm like, you're.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
In my way. I don't know where the ball is going,
what's going on.
Speaker 4 (09:18):
I hated the pistol, But what it does is it
gives that line the ability to make a mistake and
you still have the ability to see the whole field, right, Like,
So what do I mean by that? As a running back?
If I'm in the home position, I can see the
whole field. If I'm in gun, I only can see
half the field because I have to go across the
center to go. And so pistol kind of gives you
(09:38):
the best of both worlds if you're comfortable in doing
those type of things.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
So that's pistol to me. You can run all your
running game out of it. You can check, you can
run left or right, you can do whatever you want.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
Going to James Cook, James Cook is more a gap
or B gap to B gap.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
He's not even running outside zone.
Speaker 4 (09:55):
They're running downhill at people and he's making guys miss
and having an explosive And to me, he's another guy
that I saw at the University of Georgia that was
used as a wide receiver. They don't even throw them
the ball as much in Buffalo like they should. Right,
They're just here, We're just gonna go downhill. We're gonna
use these big offensive linemen. We're gonna use our double teams.
We're gonna push guys off the ball, and you're gonna
find a crease and you're gonna hit and you have
(10:17):
the ability to take it to the distance. Jonathan Taylor,
out of all of them, is what surprised me more
than anything, right, coming out of Wisconsin. I've always knocked
Wisconsin backs because their o linemen are so good.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
Right, and it's like, bro, you're running listen.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
I went to UCLA and shout out to the Bruins.
Were doinging better, We're doing better. Our holes were nowhere. Like,
you don't even have that vision to run through a
Wisconsin oll literally, Like I mean, I just did a
flag thing with some YouTubers, some streamers. B they can
go give you a thousand, right, So that's what I'm
(10:56):
just telling you if you go to Wisconsin there, I'm.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Talking about the years pass the year.
Speaker 4 (11:02):
Yes, but but and that was my knock on Jonathan Taylor.
But after watching him over the last three or four
years when he's been healthy, he's been the best, one
of the best, if not the best, running back in
the NFL. And he's doing it off of half field reads, right, Like,
if I'm starting on the right side of the quarterback
and I have to go left, it's gonna be so
hard for me to try to cut that thing all
(11:23):
the way back and use half of the other the
right side of the field. Right, I have to stay
on my track. I have to press the hole. I
have to find a hole on that side. And yet
he's doing it. Not only is he doing that, he's
breaking tackles, he's getting in the open field, he's running
away from people, and their offensive line.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
They they've kind of found what they want to be.
Speaker 4 (11:40):
Really, to be honest, this is what Philly should be doing, right,
Like what the culture doing is exactly what Philly should
be doing. RPOs, downhill, running game, out of gun, little
quarterback read option, little play action pass. But it's all
about that offensive line creating double teams, sometimes their gap
scheme where they're blocking down and pulling around. Other times
it's just inside zone, out of out of gun. And
(12:01):
Jonathan Taylor is doing an awesome job of doing those things,
and so I have to you know, I think I
had him at six when I was doing the running backs,
and it was because I had to question his vision.
But I apologize he's been awesome.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
And I love that.
Speaker 4 (12:17):
There's a million ways to skin a cat, right, Just
just be uh when you're trying to run the football.
It doesn't matter about how you're getting to it. Just
be consistent in what you do and let your running
backs get a feel for what you want and let
that offensive line do it. And it'll be tough to
deal with. I mean I can go cause I call
the Rams games on radio. The Rams went from being
an outside zone team to a straight duo team like dive.
(12:40):
This is running back dive all the time, right, But
that fits that fits your quarterback better. And so when
we talk about the running game, and I think it's
important that we talk about this, it has to marry
with what the quarterback does well. So you talked about
Pinnixon and Pistol. He's not under he was in at Washington.
They were shotgun majority of the time. I don't I
don't think i've ever seen kaylin to Board be under
(13:00):
center one time. He can throw the ball to tight
end or to lineman at wide receiver, he can do
a bunch of other stuff, but under center is like
a no no.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
So I have to make sure that what.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
We're doing offensively is marrying is matching what my quarterbacks
comfortable with and what my running back can do.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Same with the Colts Daniel Jones. I want his eyes
always looking at the field.
Speaker 4 (13:20):
I don't want him to turn his back to the defense, right,
so our play action pass, he's always having his eyes forward.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
And then when you go to.
Speaker 4 (13:26):
The Buffalo Bills, I think Josh Allen has matured so
much from when he first got there to be able
to trust to have his eyes you know that heavy
play action that'll help. And so I just think again,
those teams that we're talking about, they've done a really
good job of marrying both what the quarterback is good
at but also what works with the running back and
you're seeing explosive plays.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
So we got to talk about this MJD Bowl and
before we talk about the two teams, because I feel
like there's a little sense of betrayal. And it's the
first time that you and I are actually like have
a series as you decided to leave the family to
go to the Ramilly and do.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
Whatever's that you're doing.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
But because there's so much familiarity between these franchises. Now
you talk about James Gladstone Liam Cohn and those things.
First for the Jags, people talk about the culture that
the Rams have established and how the Jaguars want to
follow that, because they talk about the Rams being the
north Star in terms of who they want to be
and how they want to get there. So just give
(14:26):
me a little breakdown about that, because I've heard a
lot about it and I don't know because I've been
the Rams building.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
Yeah yeah, yeah, So Bucky, listen first and foremost, let
me say we're not adversaries.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
Everyone wins in this situation, right, So m j E
Bow no.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
Loser, I don't if it was win listen, no, no, no, no, no,
everybody wins.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
And to me, if this was the Super Bowl, we
all get rings. It doesn't matter. I will, I will.
I will tell you this. Uh.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
Being in the Rams building and understanding their culture about
accountability and pre you like a pro and holding you
accountable when you make mistakes, no matter who it is,
that's what's important. Right.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
I think it's funny you.
Speaker 4 (15:08):
Talk about James Gladstone and Coach Cohen and Liam and
all that. There's a guy that I used to work
with every day named Jacob Tammy who used to do
the stats for us.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
He was like part of his deal.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
He was in the front office of the Rams, but
he would come and do stats for us, right and
to literally get a chance to pick his brain. I
had no idea what he did in the front office.
I just was like, oh, come to find out, like
he was setting the draft board every year. We be
talking about like college guys. But they they put a
lot of on They put a lot on people's plates,
young people too. And they let you go out there
and they allow you to make mistakes and they correct
(15:40):
those mistakes. They don't get on you for making mistakes,
but they correct you to lead you in the right way.
And I think that's one of the things that Sewn
is kind of put in right because they go they
work well together. It's not like a Sean show or
a Lesneed show. This is a collaborative effort of trying
to put the best players out there. And so when
I came to Jacksonville early this year to see all
(16:02):
these people that I've seen at the RAMS, I'm like, oh, man,
like is it like this is? This is what I've
always wanted the Jags to be right, to have this
ability to be aggressive in the running game play, action, pass,
hold your quarterback, accountable, defense, flying around, making plays like
this is what I've always thought the Jags can be
(16:23):
because they've had to be honest, the Jags have had
better talent early in the when very first started than
they now than.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
That he did.
Speaker 4 (16:31):
So it's amazing to see that. To me, it's one
thing that I saw. It was against the Bengals, and
I want to say, Trevor Lawrence threw the ball high
on like a spot route or something, and Liam.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Cohen was like, put it in the chest, put it
in the chest.
Speaker 4 (16:45):
How many times have we been told, don't talk to
the quarterback like that, right, don't get on the quarterback
like no. No, he's one of the fifty three, and
we're creating a culture where we can talk to people
a certain way. Sean mcvacot's on Matthew Safford all the
time if he doesn't do he's supposed to do. I
remember we were in Chicago. He was a couple of
years ago, or it might have been last year. We
(17:05):
were in Chicago and he like got sacked and he
checked to a play wasn't supposed to check to. And
I'm in interviewing Sean after and Sean's like, well, Matthew
knows we're not supposed to be in that play, and
that play is in a position to turn it all over, right,
But but it's not taking it personal. It's this is
a we're all accountable for our actions. And so when
you do that, all of a sudden, I don't have
(17:26):
to worry about tippy toeing around this guy and not
saying how I feel right, not being comfortable, but who
I am, and it just it just it creates a
culture of when you come here, we're here to work,
We're here to get better. We're gonna have fun, we're
gonna do great things. We're gonna be a we're gonna
have a ton of attention to detail. We're gonna do
all these other little things. I want to say, Uh, well,
I don't know if it was this week or last week.
(17:48):
It might it might have been last week against the Chiefs,
where like Josh Allen was like, this wasn't our type
of defense, we didn't play our type of ball, or
it was I forget what game it was. But we
never heard that from the Jags. You never heard the
Jags be critical of themselves in those situations and or
after losses or after wins or whatever it might have been.
And so I just think that type of culture is
(18:09):
what's gonna kind of fester and create. And then again,
they're running the football at such a high clip right now,
even against the CT Seahawks, who has a really good
they have a really good defensive line. I thought they
were trying to be stubborn with the running game. I
thought they should have probably been a little bit more
stubborn with the running game because the game was so close.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
But against the Chiefs, very stubborn. Against the Bengals, they
were stubborn.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
Like all these teams that they've they've had really good games,
but they've been stubborn with their running game.
Speaker 1 (18:35):
And again, like I said, I just I.
Speaker 4 (18:37):
Just think the culture, the attitude, all the things that
you know, I saw in Los Angeles coming to Jacksonville,
there's not what are you what is it foreign?
Speaker 1 (18:47):
What are they foreign to now? H yep, yep too.
Speaker 4 (18:51):
Yeah to me like that, I'm not surprised by that,
to be honest, I felt like they should be Probably
you have a chance to be six and oh really,
if youf you put a couple of plays together, right.
Cincinnati game, I don't think Lloyd was down, just like
Miles Jack wasn't down.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
Devin Lloyd wasn't down, uh, And I think that changed
that dynamic of that game.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
And then I watching the Seattle game because again, obviously
Seattle's in in the Rams division. I thought there were
a ton of opportunities there. You have to play where
Travis Hunter is off sides and and again he's looking
at the ref trying to check, and you have a
touchdown that went away there that could change the momentum
of the game.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
And so I think this is gonna be a great game.
And I want to say this on here.
Speaker 4 (19:32):
I picked the Rams to win because I'm flying home
with the Rams, right, Like, let's be honest, I'm not
going to mess.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
Up to date, you know, like you can take me home.
Speaker 4 (19:42):
If I could, I would have picked them both right
because I want I want everyone to understand that I
love both organizations, uh dearly both one one gave me
an opportunity, the other one gave me a ring.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
So it is in a consistent check for the last
several years as well. Something let's not get that twisted
last one. MGG. I'm let you go I need you
quickly to make the case why you belong in this
cutaway conversation. So if I was thinking of, you know,
someone who had invested interest with both sides, I put
a list together. Donna Kelsey when the when they're when
(20:13):
her boys played each other? How many cutaways we get
in that super a lot?
Speaker 1 (20:16):
How About how about.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
Archie Manning when Eli and Peyton would play each other?
Then we had we had Bobby Bowden's wife when it
would be Bobby Bowden versus Terry Bowden in those games.
Remember she's up there in the stands got her son. Yeah,
and then you've got Jack Jack Harbaugh watching Jim and
John play against each other. I need you to make
the case why I don't know, you know, why sell
(20:38):
the network on why we need MJD cutaways during this game,
on the level of the names I just mentioned.
Speaker 4 (20:45):
Well, first and foremost, let me say this. I probably
shouldn't say it, but I'm gonna say anyways, I should
be calling the game. You tell me anyone you know
that knows more about the Jags and the rent you
tell me.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (20:56):
I just thought personally that this was something that maybe
you could have been like hey lady, you know, hey,
let me let me.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
Get you like Vin Skelley, like Vin Skelley, just.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
No, no, no, no, no no. I'd go out there.
I think it's rich and Kirk Kirk Warner doing it,
so I would. I would. I would be like, hey, Kirk,
take this time off, go ahead and go have pub
with your kids. Go relax, Like, let me.
Speaker 4 (21:17):
Go out here and do this, you know, because I
would have went down to Bucky in the middle of it.
If I out have called Bucky on his phone like, Hey, Bucky,
what's going on?
Speaker 1 (21:24):
What is the dack doing? It's not working? What are
we doing?
Speaker 4 (21:27):
Or I would have went down to DeMarco far like hey, DeMarco,
like this is the insight. There is just crazy right,
But neither here nor there. I don't know if you
want to cut away. I'm gonna be wearing a ram still.
So I know a lot of jacks fans. I've already
been to hit up by a bunch of my homies, like, bro,
I can't believe you picked the Rams.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
I'm like, listen, guys, this is not personal. It's just business.
I spent eight great years in Jacksonville.
Speaker 4 (21:54):
I'm happy that they didn't Cam Newton me and take
all my pictures.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
Off the wall, right like that? That hurt a lot.
Speaker 4 (22:01):
But from the equipment manager to the trainers to the
new GM, I was a Tony BASSELLI to Shad, like,
my relationship with all those people are awesome.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
The doctors are still there that I was there. When
I was there, that was ten years ago.
Speaker 4 (22:17):
What I'm like ten eleven years ago too, So like
those relationships are still there. I mean I have relationships
with with people that sell right in and shut to
the Jags, right that I knew from there, and so yeah,
that relationship with.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
Jacksonville was always gonna be that.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
Plus, my whole family's big Jag fans, Like my son
is a diehard Jags fan. So when the Jags went
up and beat the Niners. You know, in the Bay
Area we have a youth organization called the Conquered Jaguars
that we're creating more Jags fans there. It was a
beautiful thing. Now to the Rams, let's just be honest.
I mean, come on, man, I truly believe the first
(22:55):
year we had Jeff Fisher was awesome to learn and
get to know things. Over the last ten now with Sean.
Now I think it's nine or ten maybe, uh with Sean,
it's been amazing.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
It's been a ride.
Speaker 4 (23:06):
Two Super Bowls, getting the sit in meetings, get to
talk to personnel people about different things, very similar to
the Jags relationship with the doctors or you know. Uh
as a matter of fact, one of the doctors on
the RAMS was a doctor I used to go to
get a second opinion.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
Uh so like the not not Elatross. Now I wasn't
that famous.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
This is this A long time I was like, Hey, sorry, Pink, Sorry, Pink,
you got a hold on MJDS here, come on.
Speaker 4 (23:32):
No I wish, I wish no, but like but uh,
I mean, it's just so many relationships that are built there.
And then I was like, I said, we want to ring,
like as much as people want to hate. You know,
if I'd have known it has been this easy to
win a ring. DJ Bucky out to quit a long
time ago.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
You got on broadcasting a long time ago.
Speaker 4 (23:48):
Uh right, I'm up to I gotta And this is
the best part about it, Like, like I feel like
the RAMS have a really good roster.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
They're poison set to go.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
And I've been very humble after getting my first one.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
Don't let me two times Super Bowl champ.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
Oh man, Right, If I'm two times Super Bowl, then
it's is it's gonna cost you guys to get me
to come on here and.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
Talk to you. You know what I'm saying. And that's why
they needed to do cutaways. They gotta do two because
and by the ways, who else has a Bowl? There's
also there's a third layer to the bowl.
Speaker 4 (24:17):
When the Jags play the Raiders, that's the m j
E Bowl as well, right when the Rams play.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
The Raiders, that's the m j E Bowl.
Speaker 4 (24:23):
So it's it's it's it's like Haley's comment, it only
comes around every so often, so when you get the
m j E Bowl, you.
Speaker 1 (24:28):
Got to make sure you do that.
Speaker 4 (24:29):
It's not like I said, like Ma m kelsey, they
they play each other a couple of times, you know,
every four years happens.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
Can I play Devil's advocate for just one second. The
guy that you tried to fire for this game, you know,
did win a Super Bowl as a quarterback for that team,
by the way.
Speaker 1 (24:46):
He did, but he didn't play for the other one though.
He's not and to be honest, he's not in the
building like I am. Like, I'm in the building.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
It's the MVP in the quarterback of the team.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
Fire in, But I'm in the building. I'm not. I
didn't say fire. I might have said take a break
a week for a week. Yeah, I did not even
on fire. Just hey, just go here, go to lisbon.
I just want there's really nice. Right.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
They got a bridge, just like the San Fransco Bay Bridge.
You can do whatever you like. Just let your boy
take care of this one. Like I said, it's just
too much inside info. But I'm going to use that
inside info on RAMS, on the RAMS Radio network, the broadcast,
and uh, you're right, Bucky, this is me versus you,
because we're gonna have a better broadcast than you.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
Guys. Uh, no disrespect, no disrespect.
Speaker 4 (25:34):
But I watched it with Jeff Logerman in every in
every way, shape or form, it is not even close.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
And you can do that one. I see what that means.
It's me and Demarcovar, Like that's that's when that's do.
I don't know that's close. I don't know close. We
are walking.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
I'm gonna speak up for the rest. I'm gonna speak
up for the rest of America. And apparently Europe and
say we've exhausted the Jaguars Rams conversation. But I hope
you guys have a wonderful day. I hope you guys
go to Squeaky Fish or the Squirrel restaurant whatever whatever
MJD he was talking about. Yeah, I hope you guys
have a wonderful meal.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
There.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
MJD. You're the best brother. We appreciate you, man.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
Oh, thank you guys. Mind hit you guys up.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
There you go, Buck, this is our buddy, MJD. Appreciate
him stopping by. He's a beauty man, one of one.
I'm just glad we didn't get him start on the
Chiefs too, because he also will claim them as one
of his teams. He's got like ten teams he claims.
Speaker 3 (26:28):
I mean, he does have a lot of them. He
loves them all. He has people in all the buildings.
I'm surprised he hasn't claimed Chicago because Ariy b Enemy
and his guy.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
And all this other stuff, so it would just continue
to grow on and.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
On and on.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
But he is absolutely one of the best at best
in the bits, in no doubt, and as usually late
Bruins are playing a little bit better here a couple
of big wins. So appreciate MJD stopping by, especially concidering
where he was over there in London. Hope you guys
enjoyed that conversation. We'll see you next time right here
on movie sticks.
