Speaker 1 (00:00):
Wow, everybody, It's Monday, December eighth, twenty twenty five. Welcome
to the NFL Fantasy Football Podcast, where we are ready
for the playoffs. It's being your Man MG Marcus Grant,
joined by Michael left Florio and Lakwan Jones. Happy Monday, gentlemen.
(00:23):
Victory Monday for two of the three of us. The
Niners were off, So you guys still took it out. No,
they actually took it. They actually got a dub because
they moved up a spot in the playoff seedings thanks
to the Packers. So shout out to the Packers. I
guess nobody cares nothing to do on the show today. Obviously.
The fantasy regular season wraps up officially tonight Eagles and
(00:45):
Chargers at SOFI Stadium on Monday Night Football. That should
be an interesting one, not only for fantasy playoffs, but
for the real playoffs as well. A whole lot of
things happened over the weekend on both the AFC and
the NFCS. Got some big questions though from Week fourteen.
Kind of wrapping up the fantasy regular season, maybe some
of the things we learned, some of the things we
are expecting or hoping for for the playoffs as well,
(01:08):
and of course, as always will do drop Zone and
Waiver Wire. As we have toward the end of the show,
I want to start with some news headlines, as we
always do. A tough one to watch on Sunday, Daniel Jones,
who had been playing on a fractured fibula that the
doctors said he could not make worse by playing. Look,
I'm just a guy who talks about fake football for
(01:28):
a living, but I really feel like playing professional football
on a broken leg. Who't know, didn't seem great, But
you know what, do I know?
Speaker 2 (01:39):
Yeah, I want to rehab two injuries now because that's
exactly what's happening, because that's where he is.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Because he did suffer an achilles injury in the Colts lost
to the Jaguars, so he's obviously finished for the year.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
And yeah, I respected though, because if he set out,
they're exactly where they are now, you know.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
I mean, I guess, yeah, I mean, like from a
team standpoint, yeah, I don't think anything changed necessarily from
a personal standpoint. I mean, this is a guy who
was angling to get a new contract. Now he's got
a long rehab process in front of him, who knows
what his contract situation is going to be, so that
part for Daniel Jones absolutely sucks fantasy wise, though Florio,
(02:25):
does this mean it's a wrap on Colts pass catchers
if we have Riley Leonard at quarterback most likely?
Speaker 3 (02:32):
Because I don't know. I put this out on Twitter yesterday.
I don't know if the Colts win another game this
year because you look at their schedule, they get the Seahawks,
the Niners, the Jags, and the Texans, two defenses that
are up for best in the league in Houston and Seattle.
The Jaguars are ascending, and then there's the forty nine Ers.
(02:53):
But I was waiting for a forty nine Ers winers
comment or something.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
But team days since the last crashout, that's pretty good.
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
We've almost had him a couple of times close.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
We're not going to talk about those.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
I did go yesterday and look at the targets with
Riley Leonard, and it does feel worth mentioning that Michael
Pittman Junior was targeted ten times by him. Everyone else
was five or less. So I think Alec Pierce it's
over right. He's way too volatile now with Riley Leonard
Pittman volume could save the day. I'm not writing off
Tyler Warren though, because the bar for tight Ends success
(03:30):
is so low, and then like next week they get Seattle.
That is the one weakness that they have is covering
tight ends. Kyle Pitts had a good game against them
this past week, So I'm still writing up Tyler Warren
as they start this week. But I think the rest
of even Pittman, like he's just a volume like desperate
kind of play. I think I would be trying to,
(03:50):
especially against Seattle, trying to get away from the others.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
Yeah. So I'd started putting together the list of sleepers,
and I'm not gonna put Tyler Warren obviously in these
sleepers column. People would laugh at me. But he's got
a good matchup. I mean the Seahawks, for all the
things they've done well defensively, they have been beat up
by tight ends. In fact, we saw it yesterday against
against Atlanta. I mean, Kyle Pits had another good game
(04:14):
for the Falcons there against Yeah, I mean, it didn't
amount to much in the final score, but it was
another good game for Kyle Pitts. So Tyler Warren, I
think is still very much in play. By the way,
in case you were wondering, Brett Rippen is on the
practice squad as the quarterback. He if that does anything
for you, I don't, No, it does not.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
I actually like Riley though we hopefully we don't have
to go that route, you know, like Riley has some
upside in himself, and I think with Florio saying with
Michael Pittman, he seems like the safest bet and plus
Alec Peers suffered an undisclosed injury towards the end of
the game, so hopefully he's good and not banged up.
But Josh downs he could be a deep, deep sleeper
because I think he steps up now with Riley Leonard
(04:57):
because when we look at him coming in playing three
quar football, my boy completed more passes than Trevor mid Lawrence.
So I would say this. He came in with confidence.
He came in looking good, like playing and simple. I
liked what I saw out of him.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
Man, I am sorry, I was distracted because you went
to be so yet you've gone away from William back
to Trevor mid Lawrence like he's been actually good.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
Well, when you have a rookie quarterback, look better than
you on the other side of those three quarters did
not look better than him?
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Yes he did, Yes he did. There were some throws where.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
I was looking what was the score when Riley Leonard
came in?
Speaker 2 (05:35):
Listen, it was the second quarter. He played three quarters.
It doesn't matter with the scorers. I'm looking in isolating
on what he did himself, Like my boy ran in
a rushing touchstown.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
They have a type.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
They have a type, and I think Riley comes in
with some standalone value and I like Pittman moving forward.
But Josh Downs is a guy that I have my eyes.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
It's easy to look good.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
When you're down three scores and the defense is playing off.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
But on's the last time we've seen a third string
Colts quarterback come in and remotely look anything good anywhere
near the bar of looking as.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
A professional football player.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
Those are different, Like, yeah, maybe he could be good
for the Colts moving forward, but for fantasy, I don't
want to. I'm not trusting him in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
No, But if you lost Daniel Jones Jayden Dale, you
were down bad limping into the playoffs, you got to
throw your shots like this dude has rushing upside.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
There's other options. I'm throwing shots out.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
Are you starting Riley Leonard in the playoffs in the fantasy.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
Playoffs if I have absolutely nobody else on the Waiverlier
in one league, I'm looking at the waiver wire where
Matt Ryan is the third option as a quarterback. Like, folks,
aren't we serious? That's how down bad. It's either camboard.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
That's in like a super flex some shore you're toast
anyway that if that's the thing.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
But like I'd rather play jj this week over him.
I'd rather play Tyler Shuck over him.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
I'm not starting jj I. We can get into it later,
but I'm not starting JJE not expect this conversation to
be so.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
I don't think no one is playing Riley Leonard in
the fantasy but the even the pass catchers, like I
don't want to trust anyone but the tight end because
the floor is so low for all of them.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Some of the interceptions he almost threw and the one
he did throw, like the one he was trying to
get Tyler Warren in the end zone, it's like he's
been doubled. So it's going to be more difficult for
Riley to go out there and try to target him heavy.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
Like week to week. Well for the rest of them.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
I look at Josh Downs as the underneath guy where
he was looking and giving him a ton of looks
trying to get Josh Downs involved in this offense.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
So Pittman and.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Downs is a deep sleeper for me. I look at
his guys that could be viable as flex options if
they have no other options.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
The other thing I would caution when it comes to
Riley Leonard is the Jaguars were zero percent prepared to
face Riley Leonard. You know, they spent all week game
planning for Daniel Jones and then he goes out still
a good defense though it's still good defense. They're playing
really really well. No, they are prepared or not. It's
a third string rookie quarterback. But it's sort of different
(08:03):
though when you were when you've got a guy with
kind of a you know, maybe similar but different skill set,
you just don't know, you know nothing, You have no
film on the guy, right, none that you prepared for.
So you know, I'm curious. Now obviously he's I'll give
you the starter of this week, very curious. If get
Joe Flacco in here, man, remember Anthony Richardson.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
I have Richardson stash in IR spots because I was like,
what if he comes back into playoffs?
Speaker 1 (08:32):
Is that Anthony Richardson's music? Nah, I'm not ready for that.
By the way, I was looking at what you guys
were talking. I was looking up this post from JP
Acosta that I sent you guys. Right since the Jacobe
Meyers trade, Trevor Lawrence is first in the NFL and
passing success rate. I feel like you got to give
him his props on that.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
LaQuan Oh, absolutely, I'll give him prose for that, like
I like him for Fantasy right now. I told you
guys last episode, I am rooting for him because obviously
I have to rely on him.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Right now, I think we see this.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
I really like you.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
This is that I need you. I need you, bro,
I need you.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
I need you go out there and be William or
Trevor or whoever he thinks he is. I need him
to go out there and ball. I know we're talking
BTJ later. I'm pretty excited for that conversation.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
I honestly did not think this Jender Jones conversation would
go isp as it did. I really didn't. I just
figured it'd be like, no, we're not starting to move on.
Look I like Riley, I like Riley moving on. Jayden
Daniels suffered another injury I guess reaggravated. It looked like
the elbow injury that kept him out for a month.
(09:40):
It was all bad for the Commanders on Sunday. You know,
they get thumbed, they get shut out. Zach Ertz is
done for the year. Probably that that could be a
career ender for zach Ertz. Sadly, the a c L,
the ACL. I'm realizing yesterday that both Austin Eckler and
zach Ertz have suffered brutal, possibly very likely career ending
(10:02):
injuries playing for the Commanders this year, and that that's tough.
But Jayden Daniels does leave with an elbow injury, and
I mean laquantity, Seriously, I don't even know what, like
what now? Because if you're the Commanders, is there really
a desire or a need to bring him back? You're
three and ten, you are out of it. Lost Ertz,
(10:24):
your most reliable pass catcher, like you lost Ertz. I mean,
like what do you do? I mean, just are you
stashing Jadeen Daniels Because even if he comes back, like
what does the offer you? Like, I really truly don't
know what I would do if I had Daniels in
this situation.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
I'm not starting him like I think we can honestly
add him to the drop zone, because it's like are
you going to take that risk again starting him in
the playoffs?
Speaker 1 (10:48):
Do or die?
Speaker 2 (10:49):
Like he he looked fine up into that injury point,
but then now we're starting to question, like do they
shut him down for the season, Like get ahead of
it now, like this week in waiver wire, you will
have to attack and get your quarterbacks, Riley Leonard, you
will have to get this Shador Sanders. You will have
to like go out there and get what's left on
the wire. Like I'm even doubling back looking back at
(11:10):
Sam Darnell in some of the one quarterback leagues where
he had that downstretch, but then we see him perform
yesterday and put up big you know, QB one points.
So I'm starting to shuffle and try to get ahead
of this where like I'm closing the chapter in on
jayde Daniels, like it's more so of like, hey, we
drafted him high in drafts, I'm paying for it. Now.
I didn't really, you know, foresee this happening because of
(11:33):
how good he was last season. But now it's like,
I'm in the fantasy playoffs, I have him as my quarterback.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
What do I do?
Speaker 2 (11:40):
I'm probably gonna drop him and go pick up another defense.
To be honest, if I want to look ahead and
get these schedules, you know Rantip defensive spy in the
leagues that I have, Well, you were.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
We were all pretty high on Jade Daniels. I think
you were probably higher than all of us on Jade
and Daniels. I've seen some comments, maybe most notably Michael
Strahan saying that Jaden Daniels has to alter his playing style.
And I was one of the concerns coming out of
college right that he took some really big hits, the
sonic rings, the sonic rings. I mean that that was
(12:11):
a constant meme with Jaden Daniels when it came to
his college tape. Looking at next year, are you still
I mean, are we still looking at Daniels just because
of his ability as a top three, top five fantasy quarterback?
You're still are you still willing to do that? Next year?
Speaker 3 (12:26):
I think we'll get a discount on him because of
the injuries and stuff this year, Like, I don't think
he's going to be top three, maybe not even top
five because like obviously Josh Lamar, Jalen Hurts could be
going ahead of him, Mahomes could be going ahead of him. Him,
and Burrow is an interesting one because Burrows missed a
lot of time Drake may like, so, yeah, he might
(12:48):
not even be top five, but I'm still very much
so willing to draft him because I feel the same
way with Jaden that I was saying last week with
Jackson Dart, Like you you got to coach him to
sometimes maybe look to protect himself a little bit, but
you don't want to fully take that out of his
game because then you're taking away what makes him special.
And we've seen a lot of quarterbacks kind of have
(13:09):
to fine line this right, Like Josh Allen was a
huge one when he was running recklessly his first couple
of years Lamar Jackson, people used to say need to
learn how to slide and get out of bounds better
and stuff. So I think it comes with experience and
knowing when to pick your shots. When you can do
the big crazy run and when you could just go
down stuff like that. So I'm not shoying. I think
(13:30):
the future is still very, very bright for Jaden, but
this is a lost year, and I do like I'm
not playing Jaden the rest of the way because even
next week against the Giants, fantastic matchup, you just never
know when he might leave the game.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
Plus, he only ran four times.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
And the passing numbers were bad yesterday, So what makes
him special is the running, and if you can't count
on that, I think.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
It's best to play it safe and get away in fantasy.
I mean, let's say he does play next week. Because
you reminded me you play the John. We have two
quarterbacks who were just Kamakazi artists out there, man, I mean,
between Jayden Tails and Jackson Dart, just two guys who
play with no regard for their own personal safety. Can
be fun at times, can be kind of scary at times.
(14:15):
Irish Dally, I would say with Daniels, And maybe you
guys agree or don't. I don't know, but I'm at
the point now where next year, if I do draft
Jayden Daniels, he's one of those guys where I probably
double up on quarterback, where I probably come back later
on in the draft, and I get just a you know,
maybe not as exciting, that is sexy, which is the
more stable quarterback, right like getting Jadeen Daniels in pairing
(14:37):
him with you know, just Jared Goff or whatever, just
as an example somebody like that, so that if something happens,
I'm not just scrambling to find somebody at the position.
So I don't know. Last bit of news, Tyrod Taylor,
Tarad Tyrod. I don't remember how I think it's Tarad Taylor.
Either way, he didn't finish the game against the Miami Dolphins,
(14:59):
left with a injury. Brady Cook, who I will not
lie to you. I had to look him up to
Brady quarterback to take over the quarterback for the Jets.
I really was trying to come up with a question Florio,
and all it says on the rundown is just Jets.
Do with that what you will.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
I'll tell you right now. If if we have to
see if because look Tyrod left with a groin injury,
those tend to linger. I think we're planning on not
having Tyrod available this week. Look, if it's Brady Cook,
you sit all your Jets. You must play the Jaguars defense. Yeah,
I think you sit Breese Hall. The Jacks have been
the best run defense this season against running back, so
(15:42):
I do peek behind the curtain. I do have Breese
Hall as a but it's obviously like an option dependent.
You're not sitting him for anyone. But if Justin Fields
suits up for the Jets next week.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
Don't do it.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
My Jayde and Daniels teams are going to be streaming
Justin Fields like I'm playing him over Jacoby against Houston
for sure next week.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
I literally on Sunday morning before kickoff dropped to Justin
Fields from one of my teams. I'm like, I'm not
gonna need him anymore? A fine, and then like I
see the tyride left the game, I'm like, look at
QB right now. It is bad. Is bleak.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
I'd rather take a shot on Justin over Justin Fields.
Yes you are crazy, Yes, Yes, I would take over
Justin Fields against Yes, Yes, it doesn't matter. He's gonna
throw the ball fifty seven times. He doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
He's going to.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
Watch them hold Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes to single
digit fantasy and no touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
BTA on Josh Allen and a very competitive game against
Patrick Mahomes. Yes, I've watched this defense manhandle and cause
chaos in the trenches. But here's the thing, Jacobe said,
just faced the Rams who just did the same thing,
and he still went out there and shouts.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
So I look, look, I've been on Johnny the whole season,
but they're not they're not.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
The defense is the best in the NFL. It is
a better defense than the Rams. It's okay, it's a
better defense.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
He was about to come out of his mouth about
the Rams defense was about to be something less than elite,
that less than elite, that they're not as.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
Good as Houston. Denver is not as good as Houston.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
Houston is the best in football.
Speaker 1 (17:25):
In my opinion, you can objectively say the Rams are
not as good a defense as the Texas. It's not.
It's not shade on the Rams. It's woodshot time. Okay,
we're good. We're good. No crash out.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
We can talk bad about thirty one teams only on
this pod.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
We weren't even even trying to get you to crash
out like we were.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
Just I thought Florio was going to say that the
Rams defense is not that good or it's not elite
or they're not as good.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
As Houston, because I think is the best in football.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
I had to wait. I had to wait. There's a
little delay here. I had to wait to fully register.
And then I heard you. We're good anyway.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
So the Jets, we'll see if Justin Fields gets the start.
I have something news.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
Portion.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
We got some big questions coming up from week fourteen. First,
say your quick break, come back with more of the
NFL Fantasy Football Podcast. Big questions for me fourteen. First one,
I don't know one of you wants to feel this, lacwan,
I'll send it to you. Is Lamar Jackson back? How
(18:21):
does much before his best fantasy outing in a while? Right,
I mean most rushing one points, the best best fantasy
game he's had since Week nine? Is he back?
Speaker 2 (18:30):
I would say the arrow is pointing up because, like
I'd say, we still have a limited rushing mobile Lamar,
like he's more protective, he's running out of balance, he's
sliding and stuff we're not getting. You know, Lamar that
can just run off twenty twenty five yards because if
you watch some of his runs yesterday, like he was
very cautious.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
There were some places where I'm like.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
Oh, he's gonna take off. We got him back, but
then he didn't. He kind of just was like, let
me protect myself, which is smart, which I like. Heading
into the fantasy playoffs, I need a quarterback that's still
going to do the things that he did yesterday and
be more and conservatives with his body, not like Jackson
dark Now moving on Lamar, I would say this, I
trust him if he's going to keep on taking the
(19:09):
easy shots. Him getting that rushing touchdowns first one since
week one, that was the icing on top. We needed
that because anything else he's.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Still that's a wild statement. By Yeah, I'm just saying,
like it's not wrong.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
Yeah, but it was just one of those things like
he is still not fully back, like the arrow's pointing up.
But I can trust him if he's going to make
these smart decisions to protect itself.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
Yeah, Bengals, you're right. It's getting better. The schedule there's
some some spots to take advantage of. My fear is
we're not going to see the full Lamar Jackson until
twenty twenty six, Like I just don't, which is fine,
that's fine. I think it's not fine if you're trying
(19:54):
to get through the Fantasy playoffs. But it's fine for Lamar,
it's fine for the Ravens.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
But if he gets what he did yesterday, we're on
the good course. Twenty one fantasy points to give me
twenty one the rest in the Fantasy playoffs.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
I'm cooking. You're fine, No, you're absolutely fine. But yeah,
the the big blow up twenty five to thirty point
game in Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
He's not your anchor anymore. He's a QB one. He's
just yeah, he's not your anchor anymore, which sucks.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
Laura. You have been big on Justin Jefferson. You have,
you have held the line on Justin Jefferson. Man still
got the sword. He is ready for JJ McCarthy going
into Sunday. Going into Sunday, there's a lot of people,
and you know, I was probably among them saying, hello,
you can't get me worse right, I mean, two catches
for four yards for last week? I get kid, and
(20:43):
I think it didn't Yeah, two catches for eleven yards this.
Speaker 3 (20:47):
Hey, yo, games of his career.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
I'm gonna say words that seemed unthinkable in August. Is
Justin Jefferson droppable? Nope?
Speaker 3 (20:59):
Uh? I think he's playable next week because what happened
this past week that I did not foresee coming is
they won thirty one to nothing, like this was not
a game where they had to throw the ball much
at all. On top of that, JJ McCarthy and I
(21:19):
said this on the Sunday Show yesterday. If you look
at his game logs since he has returned, he's either
played a top defense or he's facing a defense for
the second time. He had his best matchup of a
career yesterday and had his best game of the career.
So I do think I'm not saying he's good, but
I'm saying that against bad defenses, he can be serviceable.
(21:42):
He gets the Cowboys this week, who I know, they're
not the same defense they were earlier in the year,
but they still get cooked through the air, especially against
wide receivers. Then they get the Giants, and then in
Championship Week the Lions. I don't know about that Giants game,
but I will tell you the Cowboys and the Lions.
If it's looking thirty one, it's gonna be with the
Vikings chasing points and they're gonna have to throw a
(22:03):
whole bunch. They're not gonna finish with JJ throwing for
what do you throw for? Like one hundred and twenty
yards in this game? One hundred and sixty three on
twenty three attempts. They're gonna have to throw more than
that this week against the Cowboys when they're catching up.
So yeah, I don't think Justin Jefferson is a wide receiver.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
One or even a two.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
But in a lot of my leagues where we play
three wide receivers in a flexer two, it's far too
hard for me to get it. Look, if you're in
a league where you play two wide receivers and that's it,
sure you could get away from Justin Jefferson. But if
you're in a league where you have to play three
to five wide receivers, like a lot of my leagues are,
I'm I am still going to play Justin Jefferson against
(22:40):
Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
His weekly totals starting in week nine, forty seven with
a touchdown, that's good thirty seven sixty one, forty eight
four eleven.
Speaker 2 (22:53):
Oh that is rough, Like, I don't think you dropped,
that's free?
Speaker 1 (22:58):
Don't drop I mean, okay, yeah, maybe being hyperbolic right
with the whole dropping him, but man, it is. It
is rough, like my boy, like where's the sun?
Speaker 2 (23:07):
Like I guess this week against Dallas, but we know
they're gonna take away that run game, like we know
Jordan Mason, Aaron Jones, they're gonna be suffocated. Also, this
vikings O line has been trash and honestly, with the
improvement of Dallas's pass rush and stopping the run, you're
gonna get after and harassed that boy. I am not
starting Justin Jefferson on my birthday, just to ruin my
(23:28):
birthday for the simple fact that his name is still
ringing bells. I'm sorry Forurio. I can't roll with you.
I can't roll with you starting him. I can't.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
I don't care what the.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
Last five weeks have been, Like, I am looking at
what we have seen in front of us, and JJ
McCarthy is not it bro Like if he's having his
career day giving two touchdowns to Josh Oliver, which helped
absolutely nobody on their earth, We're.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
Now we're knocking in for who he throws the touchdowns to,
absolutely because Justin Jefferson is in question.
Speaker 2 (23:59):
You don't play four quarters of football and your deaver
has two catches that makes no sense to me.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
Bro the Cowboys are still five in the last month
and fantasy points allowed to receivers, they get cooked through the.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
Air, and JJ McCarthy is below that bar. Yes, we
will revisit this. I'm sure this feels like a conversation
that gets revisited later in the week too. For sure.
All right, so not dropable, whether or not he's startable,
we will continue to debate, because otherwise, again, this would
be the whole show.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
I'm like, I'm looking at a lot of I don't
have a lot of Justin Jefferson because I wasn't drafting him.
But like I look at the teams. Look, if you
didn't make the playoffs with him, he just doesn't matter.
But in a couple of our leagues, those teams did
make it. Like in my home league, the Justin Jefferson
team made it. We have three receiver spots and a
flex spot. I'm looking at his roster like, yeah, there's
there's not four wide receivers on your team that I
(24:54):
would play over Justin Starson.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
Yeah, I mean, I think that's gonna be. The hard
part is that, like I think people are going to
be painted into a corner with him, so hold your breath,
hope for the best. I guess coming up this week,
Lakwan'm gonna ask you this because you are the Rams
officionado amongst us, and also you seem to not enjoy
our own personal happiness. Is Kien Raams in danger of
(25:17):
losing touches? I mean you were out here on Front
Street on Blue Sky yesterday promoting the fact that it's
a two man backfield. We all got to live with it. Like,
I understand that I've been talking about Blake Korum for
weeks now, but like, don't just don't just be a
thief of joy two weeks before Christmas? Like, what are
you doing? Man? Like? Is this what it is now
with Klin?
Speaker 2 (25:35):
I don't think he's gonna lose touches. I think you
just have a more involved backup running back. Like I've
been screaming this since July. This needs to be a
two man system. Joel were screaming for Jarque's hunter in July,
I was screaming for three running backs to be involved
with the worse.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
It doesn't matter.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
Last time we did that was twenty twenty and we
were a top ten rushing attack. That's exactly what we
are now a multiple system. That's what we need, and
you're seeing Blake Korn blossom into this amazing RB two.
If he needs to step into RB one duty this
late in the season, if Kiren's banged up, we do
not skip a beat. So absolutely, moving forward, you have
(26:15):
to pick him up, you Marcus, you were ahead of
this last week about him breaking out. You have to
pick him up. He is entering flex territory right now.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
Luria, I would I would like an analysis of that
that doesn't have to do with the Rams making a
playoff run. Are we worried about Kyron Williams.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
Yeah, a little definitely, because he suffered I believe in
ankleache injury last week and the Rams came out and
we're like, we're gonna try to limit his touches. And
like the Rams, the division is very far from wrapped up,
but they're going to be in the playoffs. So I
think McVeigh is like being like all right, and Korm
is playing very well as well, So yeah, it doesn't.
Speaker 1 (26:55):
Hurt to try to get your guy healthy.
Speaker 3 (26:57):
It hurts for fantasy purposes because as like, you're still
playing Kiram Kien and Korum is still just like a
deeper flex option, like you could play him, but in
the realm of outcomes is him getting single digit fantasy points.
So it's not a good thing for fantasy.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
I mean, I think I have I have a league
where I started him. I flexed him in the King's Classic.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
That's a yeah, fourteen it's a fourteen sixteen.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
Yeah, it's a fourteen team league. It's pretty deep. But yeah,
I did, I did start him.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
And I'll say this, though, Kiren's not losing the red
zone opportunity. He's like he's still involved, like you're still
going to get six out of him, and like the
good thing about it is he's on a very good offense.
Speaker 3 (27:44):
Well, he is losing the goal line looks, but not
in the way that traditionally running back loses.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
He's losing Adams.
Speaker 2 (27:52):
Yeah, yeah, true, this is the automatic push push for us.
But I would say this, like last week, when Korum
got in right before that game, very very many weeks
before that, Corn was struggling to get in the end zone.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
But when he got in.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
Last week, that's only because Kirron's on the sideline getting
his ankle checked. Now we see the change of tides
where there was a little bit more wiggle room for
both of them to be fantasy relevant and be deployed
in the red zone. They both were able to have
the red zone duty on their table, and they both
were able to succeed at it. So I'm looking at
it like this. He is starting to form this one
to two punch. McVeigh is starting to lean into this
(28:26):
running back duo. This is everything we need against Seattle.
This is everything we needed next week on my b
day against the Lions. Like this is going to be
one of the greatest gifts McVey can give to me.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Give you the army.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
Duo, unleash make de Monty and gives look like the
understubar running back duo in this game.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
Lock it up. I'm just imagining Sean mcvabying like and
so what hey, hey guys, we get anything for Lakwan? Hey, hey,
they sent me this.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
Aaron Donald go to edition man. Shout out to the
Rams admin man, I really do sure, you guys send
me this ja That is legit cool. Last one, this
is the thing we talked We talked about in a
text chain here.
Speaker 1 (29:10):
But Flora is Michael Wilson, Arizona's best receiver and part B,
would you start him against the Texans next week?
Speaker 3 (29:18):
Yeah, that one I'm not as sold on, but uh yes,
I do that because when you watch him and this
was like, I feel very vindicated today because I'm always
a little hesitant when it comes to putting out opinions
on prospects and stuff because that's not like my lane.
But I've been doing some more in the last few years.
And my biggest knock on Marvin Harrison Junior was once
(29:41):
he catches the ball, that's all the production you're getting. Like,
there's not a whole lot of after the catchability. There's
not a lot of wiggle and stuff. And to me
and Marcus you might remember this, Michael Wilson was like
my favorite sleeper in that draft class because I was saying, like, oh,
all he can play. He just has to stay healthy,
which he didn't do in college. But Wilson has that
(30:02):
wiggle and ability after the catch, and I think he's
just a little bit more versatile. You could move him
around in the slot, put him out wide. Now there
are things Marv does better, Like I Marv might be
a better contested catch guy. He might be better in
the red zone. I think the jury's still out there,
but it's hard to look at this production in the
three games that Michael Wilson has put up without Marvin Harrison.
(30:25):
I tweeted it out yesterday, but it's something like he's
averaging like one hundred and forty yards per game or
something wild like that. But on the other part of
that is he's facing the Texans who just shut down
Rashid Rice. They've They've shut down a lot of big
name quarterbacks. And I think we gotta look at the
Texans defense as the last four to six weeks because
(30:46):
they have been a completely different unit and that timeline
and that coincides I believe with Demiko Ryans giving.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
I could be wrong on.
Speaker 3 (30:54):
This, but I believe he gave up play calling and
was like, I need to be more of a CEO
type coach, and then their defense just caught fire. So
in that stretch they're the best defense in football. So
Wilson and Jacoby, I would say, are are very option
dependent and more ones that I would try to get
away if obviously you need to have someone else that
(31:15):
you feel good about, Like I'm not sitting Wilson for anybody,
but it's the Texan scare me a lot, and it's
do or die now, right, Like there's no tomorrow if
Michael Wilson goes out there and gives you like six
fantasy so flury, I got.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
You a little dish or that. Are you gonna go
Michael Wilson or Justin Jefferson.
Speaker 3 (31:36):
I'd probably take the shot at Justin Jefferson.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
Really lock it in, lock it in.
Speaker 3 (31:42):
I'm right, I'm going to both of them today, subject
to change as I dive into it more.
Speaker 2 (31:46):
Locking in I'm torn on that one. Damn, I am
not doing it. I'm going Michael Wilson. I'm going Jacoby.
You put some spice on that Jacoby presette too, and
you said I saw that.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
I look, I've I've been a Jack Kobe stand for years.
But it's the Houston Texans like and the thing about
Jacoby and I loved him, and I say this every
time I talk about him. As a start, you're hoping
for that garbage time and that all right, we're down
three scores and he's just gonna be chucking it around.
If he doesn't have success in that against the Texans,
you're looking at a very low floor.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
Yeah, but it's very like, it's very likely they're going
to be down.
Speaker 3 (32:24):
No, no, they're going to be It might be a
close game because the Texans don't score. They're a terrible
red zone offense. They are terrible, and if it's close,
I mean, they don't score like more than twenty points.
Speaker 1 (32:38):
Well, seeing as how, I'm rolling into the King's Classic
Playoffs as the two seed, and I don't know what
you got that by. I know, I don't know what's
happening with Drake London. I need I need Michael Wilson
to stay hot.
Speaker 3 (32:52):
I play you Marcus in the Fantasy Live. I believe
it's going to be me and you if this workout.
But Jacoby and Jayden my qbs.
Speaker 1 (33:00):
Right now, damn checking that waiver wire. All right, I'm
I'm Roley Leonard. Let's go. I'm actually I'm rocking with uh.
I'm rocking with lele Q's boy, William William Lawrence Williams.
Speaker 3 (33:13):
Let's go against me. We played each other this week
and we did and that didn't matter.
Speaker 1 (33:18):
We'll take a break, come back and UH get into
our fantasy regular season. Wrap up some trust levels as well.
That's all coming up next on the NFL Fantasy Football Podcast.
Fantasy regular season comes to a close after the Monday
night football game and then we're off to the playoffs.
But figure it's a time to maybe kind of look
back a little bit. So, uh, look, did you have
(33:41):
any big takeaway or multiple takeaways potentially from what you
saw in the first fourteen weeks.
Speaker 2 (33:47):
I'm happy with my decision to go heavy wide receiver
because a lot of up and down with big name
wide receivers, injuries, et cetera, et cetera. At the quarterback position.
I think heavy wide receiver or the hero wide receiver
strattrategy has worked out very well for some folks heading
into the playoffs. So the first fourteen weeks, if you
had up and down with a Justin Jefferson or even
(34:07):
ups and down with the AJ Brown a couple of
weeks back when it was dark and people were crashing
out about the Eagles offense. But I feel like, you know,
the biggest takeaway is is that I'm going into the
fantasy playoffs with wide receiver depth, and I'm thankful for that.
Day one in August I said my redraft leagues, I'm
going heavy wide receiver, and it has panned out well.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
That's not bad. Yeah, I mean I feel like that's
kind of the move. Now everybody's just like loading up
on wide receiver, especially because in leagues like Floria, you
can play three of them potentially.
Speaker 2 (34:35):
A five is crazy. Yeah, five is dope. Though I
kind of liked that.
Speaker 1 (34:41):
Floria. What did you learn from this one?
Speaker 3 (34:43):
I kind of had the exact opposite as Lakwan, like,
I want a running back early in my drafts next
year because you look at the top score, like CMC
has been awesome, Jonathan Taylor is awesome, Bijona Gibbs are
going to be your first two picks next year. I
think A Chan's been great, James Cook has been great.
After that, it starts to thin out a little bit,
(35:04):
right like Josh Jacobs has been a little hit or
miss Kyrin we were talking a lot about Etn Henry.
So I want that elite running back and then I'm
going to load up on wide receivers. But the biggest
thing with my teams, at least this year, the ones
I feel really good about coming into the Fantasy playoffs
have one of those six or seven running backs that
(35:24):
I just said, So I want to try to ensure
that I get one of these top guys, probably in
the first round next year.
Speaker 1 (35:31):
Yeah, I did go. I mean I've been a hero
RB guy for a while now, and it feels like
this year it actually has worked out pretty well for me.
I am of the opinion now and I used to
not draft multiple If I'm playing in a one QB league,
I would just draft one quarterback and then try to
get somebody off the way rewire when I needed to.
(35:54):
I think I'm just drafting two quarterbacks regardless from here
on out. You know, we've seen We've seen even the
big name guys have struggles at times, right, I mean
Lamar we just talked about Lamar Jackson. I know he
was hurt, but he came back and he hasn't looked
the same. You know, Patrick Mahomes has been good for
the early part of the season. The last few weeks
have been maybe not so great for Mahomes. I mean,
(36:17):
even the guys that we thought were going to light
it up. I have that issue. We talked about Jayden
Daniels and his injury issues, and I think you're seeing
more people just sort of have that insurance policy, and
so I think I have to go away from the
strategy of just drafting our quarterback and making it work
on the way rewire. I'm very glad that I've been
(36:37):
able to pick up Trevor Lawrence and it's worked out
very well the last few weeks. A little bit of
that was sort of luck of the draw, right, So
I think I want to have that insurance possible.
Speaker 3 (36:48):
One question for you guys, and you could call me
a homer if you want, but it's factual, Like Josh
Allen is clearly.
Speaker 1 (36:54):
The best fantasy quarterback. Is he worth a second round pick?
Speaker 3 (36:57):
Because right now there's one QB within sixty points of him,
and it's Mahomes who's almost forty behind him.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
Second round, I could still get that elite running back
he was talking about, And yeah, I don't know that's
high because like he would have to go mid second round,
mid or early second round because he is kind of like.
Speaker 3 (37:18):
Though, like the training bride of tight ends, Like where
you're you're getting.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
He's your anchor anchor, you're getting like thirty plus fantasy
points like two three weeks in a row, like that's
what you have on the table with.
Speaker 1 (37:30):
But I get why he will be drafted at high.
But me personally know, which comes back to my theory
that we have to change quarterback scoring so that this
conversation doesn't happen, right, right, I believe it. No, because
here's the thing, like we all like, if you say
that Jamiir Gibbs, right, is the best fantasy running back
(37:50):
in the game, right, or if you say that, just
so we don't have a crashout, Kukaka Kua is the
best five fantasy widers. I'm just doing that. I'm doing
this for the sake of the he's number two, right.
But whatever, the fact is, if you draft those guys
in the first round, it's not considered a strategic disadvantage.
(38:11):
So why is it that the position that's considered the
most difficult to play in sports, that is considered the
most important in the NFL, Why is it a strategic
disadvantage to draft that player early? That doesn't make sense.
You got to change superflex No super flex, say, My
argument in superflex is super flex doesn't it doesn't increase
(38:33):
the value of quarterbacks. It just creates scarcity. No, no, no,
it just creates scarcity. Basically, what happens is everybody's just like,
I gotta get a quarterback so like in round one,
round one or two, like ten quarterbacks are gone, Like
he hasn't made anybody better. They're just going in. They're
going to the same order, they're just going earlier. That's all.
Speaker 3 (38:50):
Well, yeah, but if we only played one running back,
you wouldn't be seeing or one wide receiver, you wouldn't
be seeing them go.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
Right, even but even like tight end right, even like
the idea of taking Rock Bowers, for instance, this year
in the first round, you're kind of like, I don't know,
like you just weren't willing to do that because we
haven't created value, We've created scarcity, and those are two
different things.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
Yeah, but I'd argue that that's what we're doing at
running back and wide receiver when we're only playing one
quarterback and we're playing But I would also argue that.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
That's that's natural scarcity just because of the way the
position is used. We're creating artificial scarcity by what we've
set up in terms of the structure of the draft. There.
Speaker 3 (39:29):
I love super Flex is my favorite leagues. I always
have been.
Speaker 1 (39:33):
This is an off season conversation. I'm taking up too
much time with it. I wasn't going to add to it.
I was going to add, but I was like, nah,
it's take it too much time. But take it too
much time. I was gonna talk about biggest Fantasy playoff
surprises and busts. We can do that later on in
the week because we got so much suss to get
to in this one. This is some fantasy trust levels
real quick? Are these guys worth a playoffs start? We've
(39:53):
already sort of argued that with some guys already in
this one. Uh lakwan. Jared Goff coming out here to
La to take on the Ram on Thursday night football,
really big game for both those teams. Would you start
Jared Goff in Week one of the playoffs?
Speaker 2 (40:07):
Yes, Samon Ross seems to be healthy. You see him
at full strength. I do think that there's opportunities for
Jared Goff to put up a high end QB two performance.
Speaker 1 (40:15):
All right, uh Florio CJ. Stroud going against the Cardinals
despite having a bad red zone offense.
Speaker 3 (40:24):
It's very option dependent there for me. Like I'm pulling
up his game logs right now. He hasn't scored fifteen
fantasy points since Week eight, and since he's returned, he
scored nine and twelve point six. Yeah, I'm not.
Speaker 1 (40:41):
Doing Yeah, well, I mean, I mean, I think the
argument against c J. Stroud is they just need him
to be good enough and that defense can take care
of the rest. So like, just don't just don't lose
it for us. Yeah, just end of like Dak and
Burrow right where those guys hasn't go out and win
the game for you, Like, just don't lose it. Just
(41:02):
be good enough every now and they make some plays
and our defense will take care of the rest of them. Seriously, Laclan,
would you start Ashton Gent against the Eagles on the
road against the Eagles?
Speaker 2 (41:13):
Yes, I say that only because we've seen him get
more involved in the passing game. PPR leagues out there
and we love to see that, you know, the running
backs get targeted. So yeah, and plus Jalen Carter's not
there in the middle of you know, clogging it up,
I mean, throwed on both shoulders, doing the Harlem shake
too fast or something.
Speaker 1 (41:33):
But yeah, I like, now, yeah, he's getting more involved
in the passing game, which is nice. I'm looking at
his rushing totals the last two weeks. Actually here in
the last four weeks, week eleven seven yards, week twelve
fifty all right, week thirteen thirty one and then yesterday thirty.
So the rushing number is not great, but the target
target shares is a lot better. For sure. Florial Deandres
(41:57):
Swift against Cleveland.
Speaker 3 (42:00):
I think so as someone who has Deandred Swift on
a good amount of teams that have made the playoffs,
I have to write like, I don't have other options
that I'm like, yeah, but also I do like DeAndre
Swift in this one because the Bears have shown us
they are going. They were running the ball with less
than thirty seconds to go in a game where they
were down a touchdown, like they are going to be
(42:22):
committed to the run no matter what. We just saw
Tony Pollard run all over this Browns defense. Did not
see that coming.
Speaker 1 (42:28):
Why did he do that? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (42:31):
I have no idea, and Wild gets targets too, so
I do. This is a game where the the Bears
should have a lead, I would imagine, and they run
the ball.
Speaker 1 (42:39):
Off all right, So the Andrew Swift is in look
on Terry mcclaurin against the New York Football Giants.
Speaker 2 (42:46):
Yes, only because last week now yesterday's game. Last week
he looked healthy I'm not quite sure about Mariota's like
complete ceiling in this game, but I'm starting Terry. He's healthy,
he's getting the targets, he looks great, he looks physical.
After to catch, he looked good to.
Speaker 1 (43:00):
Go, all right, so you can start him with Marcus Mariota. Yeah,
that was weird that that was strange, right that all
of a sudden Chris Consworth and Mike Turco or Mariota
like what apparently is the one so so so the
quarterback himself is the one who said because like, wa,
(43:22):
he's I think he's remember Kelson. Yeah, I think I
think I feel like uh Jon, I think he.
Speaker 3 (43:33):
Came her mining random Sunday night.
Speaker 1 (43:37):
So I have no idea. Uh Florida Christian Watson who
looks like the RB one uh in Green Bay at Denver.
Speaker 3 (43:47):
Yeah, this is one that I'm gonna try really hard
to get away from. But I just so like I'm
looking at a couple of leagues where it's similar to
the It's the ones I was talking about right where
you play three wide receivers and then there's two fleck spots,
and like on those teams, I'm looking at like, okay,
on one I could plug in Wandel Robinson to get away,
but then on the other it's like.
Speaker 1 (44:08):
Darnell Mooney, I don't want to do that.
Speaker 3 (44:12):
So it really like it's one that I very much.
So if you're in a two wide receiver league or
even a three wide receiver league, yes, I think you could,
Like I have one team like that where I've Watson
and I'm gonna get away from him, no problem.
Speaker 1 (44:23):
But then if it's in.
Speaker 3 (44:23):
A deeper league, it you might just have to roll
the dice out there understanding that the floor is low,
but it only takes one big play for him to
have a nice day.
Speaker 2 (44:32):
Yeah, Watson or Jefferson Florio Jefferson all.
Speaker 1 (44:37):
Right, Like I respect the game. I'm scar where the
range is. I'm learning.
Speaker 3 (44:44):
I mean, they decided a lot, right if they're scared.
Speaker 1 (44:48):
I understand this is a scary one. It's Denver, but
the other one.
Speaker 3 (44:51):
Is here Denver two.
Speaker 1 (44:53):
All right. I feel like I feel like we can
play a game with this like later on in the
week where we're just like you know, no, I mean,
like you know, where does this guy rank or something
like that, we just list a bunch of wide receivers.
Speaker 3 (45:03):
We should do that on like Wednesday or Thursday with
a few tricky because there's a lot of tricky players this.
Speaker 1 (45:08):
Week, a lot of them. Wandell Robinson's one of them.
Speaker 2 (45:12):
I like Wandell, look at his volume last I wish
over Watson.
Speaker 1 (45:17):
I appreciate it when a plan comes together. So we
have content for the week. That's great. Mecca, I'll give you.
I'll give you a combo with you a Mecca Abuka
and Baker Mayfield against the Falcons either neither or both.
Speaker 2 (45:31):
Baker yes, Mecha No, he almost broke this. He had
that touchdown in his hands because I started hating and
I was like, I know in my heart I should
not be starting him, but I have to because Wandell
is on a bye. That literally would have been the
start Wandell would have been starting. Actually, he's going to
start over in Mecha.
Speaker 1 (45:51):
Buka.
Speaker 2 (45:52):
No, I cannot trust it against Atlanta, where at one
point of time in the season we were like, oh,
this is the scariest secondary against wide receivers at the
wide receiver position. No, I can't trust it. Okay, it's
the Mike Evans Show Week fifteen. That's where we're locking in.
Speaker 3 (46:06):
Baker has thrown three touchdowns every game he has played
Raheem Morris's Falcons defense three times. He's played him three
touchdowns in all. Oh, Bake, I I and I'm going
to stick to this. I watched every Abuka target yesterday.
I think Baker is the problem here, not at Buka.
I don't think Baker's health him.
Speaker 1 (46:25):
I maybe not. I also was you know, I was
checking in our pow Matt Harmon James co over at reception, perception.
We're talking about Abuka recently, and losing Mike Evans has
hurt in multiple ways. Obviously, you don't have a big
target a guid to roll coverage just too. But also
because earlier in the season it was a lot of
a Buka working out of the slot, you know, and
(46:46):
then since has come back, it's pushed him out to
the outside where it's a lot of tighter window throws. Right,
It's he's not winning quite as decisively in his match
a stale rubs.
Speaker 2 (46:58):
Whose fault is that? No, No, there's no chemistry bill with
him playing out wine in all college, he's been a
freaking spot merchant. Now Godwin's back and healthy, but Baker
is lighting it. Baker hasn't thrown for two hundred yards
in a month, like Baker is struggling right now.
Speaker 1 (47:15):
It was it was right about the time everybody's like,
it's Baker an MVP Candid. Yeah, it was like it's
like Wiley coyote running off the cliff, but he's not
gonna fall until he looks down. It's like said MVP
Baker almost probably. Yeah, So all right, I'm gonna switch
the order this one because I know Florida you have
thoughts about this player. So Brian Thomas Junior against the Jetropolitans.
Speaker 3 (47:39):
He's option dependent, but I do think he's a upside
shot if you're going a little bit deeper because uh, yesterday,
and I think Jacoby Meyers being there helps Brian Thomas
Junior a lot because they don't need to ask Brian
Thomas Junior to do all the wide receiver one stuff.
Now they could just be like bro rundown feet. He
(48:01):
averaged yesterday a season high twenty four air yards per
target three yards per route. Ram was his best in
any game this year, and it happened because they gave
him a season high four targets on go routes that
led to all of his yards whereas last season he
had the most production on any route, it was on
go routes. So I think having Jacoby run the more
(48:23):
complicated routes and leaving Brian Thomas or to just be
a field stretcher gives him upside and it is the
best way to utilize him. Now that being said, I'm
not playing him over just anyone, right, Like it's it's
got to be the right situation.
Speaker 1 (48:38):
But I row he just say, because you know what,
Kwan's going to ask you the question, So I'm playing
Jefferson over him. Okay, great, let's just get that.
Speaker 2 (48:45):
I was not going to ask that. That's not even
a draft situation that was possible to happen. I'm just
saying I was sure happened. I agree, like I'm looking
at Brian Thomas year and more so of high I
looked at Alec Persky's last couple of weeks like the
arts are going to be there because they're only throwing
him downfield. All his opportunities were big chunk plays that
they were trying to get him involved, Like how Florie
(49:07):
was saying, Jacoby Myers has been this guy that can
make a mid tier quarterback look good. That's kind of
what his route in bag is. Like, Jacoby is doing
pretty much everything that they wanted Brian Thomas you to
do now looking at twenty twenty six, this brings up
another question that you know we'll probably have to hire now.
Speaker 1 (49:24):
And where are you drafting BTJ? Yeah, I feel like
we definitely overinflated that back half of his rookie season.
Speaker 2 (49:31):
I'll say this, I'm drafting Jacoby Myers over BTJ, like,
no matter where the ADP falls, like, I'll probably fade
BTJ for Jacoby Myers.
Speaker 1 (49:42):
That seems reasonable. I mean, it depends a lot on ADP.
Speaker 2 (49:52):
But you got to look at the quarterback who's throwing
him the ball florio at the consistent rate? Is that
going to happen?
Speaker 3 (49:58):
Jacoby is safer, But I do think BTJ has more
upset wrinkling this whole thing though, is Chacoby Myers is
going to be a free agent, so also it depends
on where where he is to what happens last one
here before the break look on Kyle Pitts against the buccaneer.
Speaker 1 (50:15):
Yes, I have no options. I lost zach Ertz.
Speaker 2 (50:18):
I am at the point now where the like look
Ronde Gastons where you've been.
Speaker 1 (50:22):
Are you in the room with us?
Speaker 2 (50:23):
I mean hopefully Monday night tonight? I guess right right,
So Cole Pits, purely volume is what we're strapping to.
I mean, the Bucks red zone defense is one of
the worst defenses in NFL, so there could be scoring
opportunities if Kirk o Chain shows up and gets him
in striking distance. But who knows but Cole Pits. I've
been riding with him all season. I'm gonna ride them
until Titanic ship goes down to the bottom.
Speaker 1 (50:45):
I might need you guys to stage an intervention on
my behalf for this week. Kirk Gussins is on my
list of sleepers.
Speaker 2 (50:54):
Wow, yeah, it's a It's a week where I listed
like if you in.
Speaker 3 (51:00):
It starts it like streaming options, and it's there's some
bad quarterbacks who.
Speaker 1 (51:03):
Might be it's bleak man, It's bleak is rough. We'll
see Tyler Shuk. I will say this. I put Schuck
and Shadur in the sleeper's column last week and it
worked out on both occasions.
Speaker 3 (51:14):
So I know we don't have him on the rundown.
But man Chardor balled out this week, all right?
Speaker 1 (51:21):
I wasn't gonna talk about it. Let's get it. Let's
get into it for a quick man before we hit
this break. Because like I watched that game, and he
was good. The Titans defense is bad. Yes, I like
that they opened things up a little bit more for him.
And maybe some of that was that the weather wasn't
as bad as because the previous week against the forty
nine Ers, the weather was bad. It was cold, it
(51:41):
was windy. You know. The Niners not a great defense,
but they're certainly better than the Titans. They opened some
things up for Shudur. They did let him take some
shots downfield. He took a few deep shots. He took,
you know, one to Jerry Judy, he took a couple
to Harold Finnon. It's still a very simplified offense for him,
but he's he is succeeding with any framework of that
(52:03):
simplified offense. I saw something this morning asking did the
Browns find their franchise quarterback? And I'm like, let's let's
pump the brakes on this.
Speaker 3 (52:12):
I'll just say this, let's share the field with the
number one overall pick and was the best quarterback in
then he was.
Speaker 1 (52:19):
But also the Titans don't have a Miles They don't
have a Miles Garrett equivalent.
Speaker 3 (52:23):
No, that's true. He's airing the ball like he's better
than Dylan Gabriel. I never want to se Dylan Gabriel
play another game. If Shador is healthy, and they already
said he's not this year.
Speaker 1 (52:34):
He's definitely not playing this year. So yeah, I will
credit him for succeeding within the framework of the offense.
I will say that they are still keeping it very
basic for right now.
Speaker 3 (52:44):
Better numbers than Joe Flacco did.
Speaker 1 (52:46):
He I'll say this, he did things that I that
I wanted to see from him since his Colorado days.
He threw the ball away when things weren't there. He
took off and ran a couple of times, had a
rushing touchdown. So like, those are the two things that
I wanted to see from Shaduur, and I saw them.
So the Arrol's pointing up, I'm not.
Speaker 3 (53:03):
I just want to say, fine, the Tech Titans defense
all day, we're doing the historic performance against maybe maybe
chill out.
Speaker 1 (53:13):
It doesn't matter. Anytimes it Mighty gets their shots on him,
that's that's gonna happen. So we'll see you next week
because the Bears they're aggressive in terms of trying to
get interceptions and will throw the ball into harms away occasionally,
so that's something to sort of watch out for. All Right,
that's been our minute with Shadur. It'sake a quick break,
(53:33):
come back and do some drop zones, some waiver wire
wrap things out here on the NFL Fantasy Football Podcast.
All right, time to talk about some player movements before
we get into this. Uh luquan your thoughts on non
playoff teams on the waiver wire.
Speaker 2 (53:53):
I like it because you can still play defense, you
can block in, and every single week matters, even if
you're in a losers bracket because you're trying to stay
out of last place. Some of them last places and
punishments are foul. So I would do whatever I can
if I need to jump on the waiver war to
stay out of last place.
Speaker 1 (54:09):
All right, Florida, you just waved it off like an.
Speaker 3 (54:12):
I think they should. If you have a consolation or
last place punishment, Sure you could go after Wednesday when
waivers run because your season is over right, like you're.
Speaker 1 (54:21):
Not still alive.
Speaker 3 (54:23):
You're playing for something to be entertained and stuff. But
when you pay your league fee, you play, you pay
for up to week fourteen. You got to earn.
Speaker 1 (54:30):
After that to keep playing. That's I feel because.
Speaker 3 (54:35):
What if what if I'm in the playoffs right and
I'm just gonna use LaQuan as an example here, Lakwan
doesn't want me to win, he could block me, because
like that's collusion.
Speaker 1 (54:45):
Because you're a bad team, Because that's cosion blocking. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (54:49):
If if we're not playing each other and you just
are like, I don't want Florio to win. I'd rather
someone else in the league win. Yeah, that's not how
you manage a team all year long. You're not making
moves to stop.
Speaker 1 (55:00):
Is a rule? Is there a rule? There is no collusion.
Speaker 3 (55:05):
And if you're colluding, if you're purposely doing something to
block a team that you're not even in the bracket against, yeah,
that's not what fantasy is.
Speaker 2 (55:15):
Last time I heard collusion was when two league mates
are planning against another league mate in a trade or
some type of that.
Speaker 3 (55:24):
And are you not planning against someone for picking someone
up solely because you don't want to see another team win.
It's me and you that if we're playing each other
and you're alive in the bracket or something. Sure, but
if you're out of it and your only goal is
to be like I don't want this one team to win, that's.
Speaker 1 (55:41):
Not anybody to win. If I'm not winning, I like
I do like Florio's idea of Okay, you know what
the waiver period is for playoff teams, and then the
free agent market opens for everybody else, because especially because
if you are a team that's out of the playoffs,
you're gonna have a higher waiver priority exactly. So that's
what he isn't. So my my thought is, one, first off,
(56:03):
you should expressly make a rule about this in your
league wing where the season starts. Before the season starts,
like you make the rule, all right. However, if there
is no rule, I would say this. I don't think
it's illegal, but I do feel like it's a little
bit sus a little bit shady, a little bit it's
(56:25):
a little bit unethical. It's not just unethical, right, that's all.
Just just say it's unethical.
Speaker 3 (56:33):
I put it out every year on Twitters. There's always
a few Lakwan's that don't agree with you, but for
the most part, people they understand, like that's how it
would work in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (56:43):
I'm not trying to be in last place like some
of the league punishment. Last place punishments are foul. I'm
not doing it, Bro, I'm gonna do what I can.
You your chances and winning so you still have a
chance to I'm hitting the waiver there. I'm hitting a
waiver like the rest of the league, and we can.
Speaker 1 (57:02):
Season start at illegal. It's just it's just unethical. That's it.
All right, let's do the drop zone.
Speaker 2 (57:10):
Look dropping, I'm dropping Troy Franklin because I feel like
now to the point where we are looking at these
last couple of weeks, right, it's been Pat Brian. We
look at yesterday where he only played twenty five percent
of the snaps, wowsers. These last couple of weeks, Pat
Brian has came in as the wide receiver to where
(57:31):
he's showing up in the run game and pass blocking,
which they coined him as a guy that takes passion
in that, we're seeing a guy that gives you a
little bit more after the catch way they're using Troy Franklin,
They're trying to get the deep shots on him right
where you have Pat Brian as the underneath wide receiver
where he's giving you yards after to catch. He's getting
five yards after the catch per reception right now. That
(57:52):
is up there with some of the elites in the
league right now. So I'm looking at Pat Brian being
the wedge between Troy Franklin being trusted in fantasy rosters
in the plant Fantasy playoffs. So I'm dropping him to
pick up that second defense, to pick up a Jaguars,
to pick up a Saints DSD in those leagues where
I need to have that matchup base between you know,
having another defense where week one of the playoffs, Week
(58:13):
two of the playoffs, Week three, Championship, I can alter
through these defenses. So Troy Franklin, you got to get
the boot, all.
Speaker 1 (58:19):
Right, because you're dropping for a defense. You're not dropping
him for Pat Bryant. No no, no, no, no no no.
Speaker 2 (58:24):
That feels like, you know, no, that would be me
trusting Sean Payton given me.
Speaker 1 (58:28):
I actually want no targets at that point. No, all right, Florida,
who are you dropping? DJ Moore? Uh?
Speaker 3 (58:38):
I feel like I've had him on this list at
different times this year, but yesterday was the the final
nail in the coffin in my opinion. This was a
game where Roman Duneesa was not out there. This was
a game where the Bears they never had a lead
in this They were trailing throughout. Uh And what did
(58:59):
dj Moore? Caleb threw the ball thirty five times? What
did dj Moore finish with three targets, one catch, negative.
Speaker 1 (59:08):
Four Are you kidding me?
Speaker 3 (59:09):
Negative four yards in a game where game scriptles on
your side and you should have been the number one.
Like we're seeing Luther Burden be more utilized than him,
We're seeing Colston Lovelin be more utilized than him. And
for a while I was like, all right, well it's
because Rome is playing that wide receiver one role as noe.
Ben Johnson just hates DJ Moore for whatever Kenn figures
(59:32):
out how.
Speaker 1 (59:32):
To use him. He said DeAndre Swift.
Speaker 3 (59:34):
And in Detroit, Yeah, Like it's so frustrating. And I
have one league where my wide receivers are bad and
dj Moore has been Like my top two are good,
but that third spot has been bad and DJ Moore
occupied it yesterday.
Speaker 1 (59:48):
And I'm like, I.
Speaker 3 (59:49):
Don't care if I have to play Jerry Judy over
you next week. You are not I don't want to
see you in my lineup.
Speaker 2 (59:56):
Yeah, it's crazy, it's been bad. I'm dropping d J.
Moore this week to pick up Ryan flore Noyy because.
Speaker 3 (01:00:04):
Where we're at and I don't know you at.
Speaker 1 (01:00:06):
All, And that's gonna be the conversation too, because like
you know, keeping up with c lambing concussion protocol and
and you know whether or not he's going to be
available to play. Yeah, we'll see something. That's how nasty
we haven't mentioned Uh you know, I mentioned.
Speaker 2 (01:00:20):
It last week saying that will be one of the
players I wouldn't start, and then of course he goes off.
Speaker 1 (01:00:24):
I mean, of course absolutely, and that's how that works. Yeah, uh,
I was looking ja Cory Krofsky Merit is still rostered
in over fifty percent of NFL dot com. It's like,
what are we doing? Why? What what are we doing
that we have long since we have long since passed
that portion of the program. I mean, like the house
(01:00:45):
flights have come on the the the custodial staff is
sweeping up, like leave the theater, it's over, man, Like
the party, the cops are here.
Speaker 3 (01:00:54):
See if something happens after the credits.
Speaker 1 (01:00:56):
Like there is no end credits they've already said the
Avenger return next year, like it's done, Like yo home,
Like what are we doing?
Speaker 3 (01:01:05):
No? I know something I.
Speaker 1 (01:01:07):
Know he's not. Nickname Office is like the Nicktoons crowd,
like hanging out waiting for a little bill love or something.
It's just it's over man Like Chris Rodriguez is the
lead back. I mean, look, I'm not saying it's great
with Chris Rodriguez, but he's the lead back there. Jeremy
McNichols is number two, like Krossky married is a solid
(01:01:28):
number three running back in an offense that's not particularly good.
It was fun that ride we had those those one
or two weeks, you know, it was it was exciting
to get back to. But it's a rap, like we
gotta let this go.
Speaker 3 (01:01:44):
If his name was like Ja Cory Johnson and he
didn't have a cool nickname, he would have been a
long time.
Speaker 1 (01:01:52):
It would have been one of those things where after
his big games we would have been begging people like
pick this dude up, pick him up. I mean, we
still would have been like dropping now.
Speaker 3 (01:01:59):
But one of my friends calls it the cool name theory,
and it is very true. The cooler the name the
more people get excited.
Speaker 1 (01:02:06):
That is true. We should start creating nicknames. Repeat, like,
we should come up with a nickname for Jacora, for
Jacoby Brissett, just to get people to pick him up.
Speaker 3 (01:02:13):
Hey, I mean if if Tyrone Tracy is Paul Pierce,
anything is possible.
Speaker 1 (01:02:19):
Wow, let's get let's let's tap into the folks at
pull Pro Football Reference see what they can do for us.
All right, before we get out of here, Floral quick
rundown of the waiver wire options.
Speaker 3 (01:02:29):
I told you QB is gross, right, but Fields, Tyler, Schuck,
JJ McCarthy, should Dor Sanders. These are names. If you're
going Riley Leonard of parents. If you are going deep,
you get him a nickname. At running back, kylem a
young guy is still sub sixty percent rostered. I don't
understand how Blake Koram needs to be picked up like
(01:02:50):
OQ said Devin Neil jalen Wright. I know they're saying
that a chan should be good this week, but jalen
Wright had a lot of volume. Key and Mitchell. If
anything happens to Derek Hen, you're looking at.
Speaker 1 (01:03:02):
Mitchell, Yes, Dylan.
Speaker 3 (01:03:04):
Samson, Tyler Ralseyear, Ray Davis, ty John gets your handcuffs.
It is that time of the year. At receiver, Christian
Watson still is very under rostered, even though I don't
love his matchup next week. Chris Godwin, Devon Valley, Rashid
Shaheed getting more usage, Jim Ury, DK Ryan Floornoyd, Jerry Judy,
all guys that we'd all rather have than DJ Moore
(01:03:26):
right now. Uh, and then Titan is low key kind
of deep this week because Harold Fan and Junior Bretton Strange,
Darren Waller I think are wars. And then Uh, Isaiah Likely,
Luke Musgrave, Mason Taylor getting more volume and good matchups.
Those are like deeper league streamers. But yeah, there's there's
options at tight end this week.
Speaker 1 (01:03:44):
Yeah tight end. I mean it's not I would say
it's great, but there's a little more help I think
around the way at tight end that we saw earlier
in the season.
Speaker 2 (01:03:51):
I wanted to add one running back. I want to
add one running back real quick. Barlie Gordon. I think
Ali Gordensworth the pick up back. It's been the back
block on him.
Speaker 3 (01:04:00):
Yeah, right, so much yesterday I was shocked, Bro, he
looked good, look good.
Speaker 1 (01:04:05):
I do want to.
Speaker 3 (01:04:07):
Update Harold Fan and Jr. Is ten points away from
being a top five tight end right now?
Speaker 1 (01:04:14):
Wow?
Speaker 3 (01:04:15):
Wait, what was the what was the old blonde?
Speaker 1 (01:04:20):
Oh my god, we're doing back to back years? Are
we gonna do this back to back years? Let's look
at the schedule real quick. I was gonna wrap up
shows because so brock Bowers has the Eagles, the Texans,
the Giants to finish out the fantasy. Are we going
week eight team? We're going Week eighteen as well because
you got but I feel like, all right, so Eagle, Sexans,
(01:04:43):
Giants for brock Bowers. He's kind of a middling schedule.
Harold Fannin has Bears, Bills, Steve Steelers are bad against
tight ends.
Speaker 3 (01:04:54):
We said he's been balling out with said.
Speaker 1 (01:04:59):
You you know who was on that, Tyler Warren, Oh,
Tyler Warren that he might be reality. Oh my gosh,
Tyler I did it again.
Speaker 2 (01:05:12):
What the.
Speaker 3 (01:05:15):
La quand says before the year he will die his
here blonde. You better draft next year.
Speaker 1 (01:05:20):
Wow, my goodness, this is a perfect way to end
the show. This is amazing.
Speaker 3 (01:05:25):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (01:05:26):
All right, So Fannin watch is on Fan and watches
on for the final few weeks of the season. I'm
glad we got something. You call it?
Speaker 3 (01:05:34):
Are we going to seventeen or eighteen?
Speaker 1 (01:05:37):
Let's do seventeen please, I say seventeen, Mags. That gives
you a better shot, like that one extra game. You
don't want that one extra game and they're calling it
seventeen seventeen. All right, here we go. Wow, oh game
bleeping on. All right. That'll do it for this edition
of the Fantasy Football Podcast. He saved Alby, do good
(01:05:58):
and live well. Stock up on hair. Hi everybody, we'll
talk to you on Wednesday. M
