Speaker 1 (00:00):
Wow, everybody, It's Monday, December twenty second, twenty twenty five.
Welcome to the NFL Fantasy Football Podcast where it's winning time.
It's me and your man named G Marcus Grant, joined
by Michael F. Florio and Lakwan Jones. Ah, well, list,
(00:22):
how are we? I know we were sort of moaning
and complaining our fantasy fates before the show started. It
sounds like, based on our conversations that we all have
been now bounced from our respective fantasy leagues.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Is that? Is that accurate?
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Some I'm still alive and too, but one that I
really really care about, which is my friends back home.
I have been bounced because of Camani Vaidel, because of
dre Bon Anderson. There's a lot of issues, man. But
you know, I'm okay. The crash out meter is still up,
all right.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
We actually, honestly, we thought the crash out meter probably
got reset after Thursday night.
Speaker 4 (01:01):
We're fine with that. We are well past that. It
is not my day, Marcus.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
I'm glad.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
No, no, no, I'm glad.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
I'm happy for you, Like I just just assumed that
the way things went down in Seattle.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
Oh, you guys are trying hard in the group chat,
you guys were listen to conversions.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
We didn't hear from you for a bit.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
Yeah, that's me collecting myself when I don't respond. But
there was a lot of group chats that were just
oaking the bear, but the bear was in hibernation sleeping.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Good for you. I'm proud of you.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
You've You've shown some growth over the course of the season,
so I probably it happened to happen.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Yeah, I don't know, Florida, how are you looking?
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Are you?
Speaker 2 (01:37):
I know you had a couple of tough ones, I think, right.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
So the toughest one was Nicolette's team, who she went
eleven and three most points all year. She had Josh Allen,
she had Jacobe Brissett, Christian Watson, Drake London, Quinn Shaw,
Judkins like her worst year, oh year, she was going
through it. But I have clinched my League of Record championship.
(02:01):
I'm in three championships right now, and if Juwan Jennings
doesn't get outscored by Tyler Warren tonight by fifteen, it'll
be four. It'll be both of my home leagues. So
my friends from home right now hate me because it's
like oh the pro he gets an advantage. Now I'm
in both championships, so they they're probably upset.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
I imagine being the commissioner and you're constantly going to
the championship. People are just going to say, oh man,
this thing is rigged.
Speaker 4 (02:24):
Oh man, collusion. I don't commission any league. But because
of what I do, this is the last time.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
My election year is next year, so I'm no longer
going to be commissioning this.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
Thank god.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
I mean, we do every cycle of every two years,
and thankfully I'm not up for anymore.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
I'm out. I don't want to do it.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
It is.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
It is the most thankful job in fantasy sports.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
Like being the commissioner is the worst.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
It's it's annoying getting eleven year own men on the
same page. Having league meetings is the worst thing to do.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
Bro. Yes, and here's the thing.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
Now everybody should And then when they don't show up,
they complain about the rule changes. Oh we still got kickers. Yeah,
because I needed your vote to get it out of here.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
So I'm not gonna lie to you like I wouldn't
show up to a league meeting.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
I'm not gonna show up.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
But but I'm.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
Also not gonna go.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
I'm also not gonna complain about the like whatever, Like, Okay,
you just tell me what the rules are, tell me
when the draft is, and I'll be there.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
Like I'm not going to show up to a meeting
for this.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
We don't do meetings, but we do vote every year
on stuff. But it's like a text or email for it.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Usually, yeah, usually, just like you know, like, honestly, your
meetings could have been an email. That's what I'm saying
right now. Oh I didn't see the email. Oh I
would have voted.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Like listen, it's a it's a struggle to get eleven
other grown men on the same page. That's why I
cannot wait to not commission this league anymore.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
I do like that you guys rotate commissioner, Like my
league's have the same people be commissioner and they hate it,
but no one else wants to do it, so they
just keep doing it. If you're going to be in
this league, you will participate in the election and you
will be up.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
I love that you're like a co op situation going
on with your with your commission.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
You guys vote on who the commissioner is.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
There's one guy that wants to be the commission but
we refuse to let him be commissioner. So every time
his name comes up, like.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
Na, this the wall. There's no solution for all of
you guys who don't want to do it.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Just let him do it.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
I really feel like it should be the last place punishment, right,
if you come in last.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
Place, you're the commissionermissioner, that's a good idea.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Sorry luck, you got to run this whole thing. Have fun.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
The funny thing is the person I'm talking to listens
to this spot. He's a huge fan of Florio.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
And the thing is, it's like we cannot let him
be commissioned, so it's like never gonna happen.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
So he's a troll if he likes me. He likes
that you.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
Stirred the pot, and he likes that you push my buttons,
and he's supposed to be my boy.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
But it's all good man. That's that's actually really really funny.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
Yeah. I was in three semi finals. I will make
it through in one of them. One I just I
had guys that just had bad games.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
At the worst time.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
One I just in a Fantasy Live league, I ran
into Korean Falcone who just has a juggernaut. She's son
you guys, She's only fifty on me and she still
has Christian mccaffreys to play. So I texted you the
Jake Paul busted up face, uh you know photo, because.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
That's job broken in two places.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
That's that's how that's how my team feels.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
If she wins, it's what her her second or third
title in four years?
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Literally a third four years, I believe it is.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
Yeah, she's It's basically her and her and Hythan Kalani
are like the Chiefs and Patriots are just kind of
running this thing right now, although it looks like hyphen
might be out anyway.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
The third league I made it through, it's like it's
a It's a league where I know like literally one person,
the commissioner of the league was like invited me in.
I don't know anybody else in this league. They all
know me and what I do.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
They hate, like they really do. Like I didn't even
get to pick my team name.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
They made my team name for me, Like this is
Marcus's Hustle, Like that's.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
The name of the team.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Mart The name of this team is Marcus's Hustle, Like
that's it. Like that.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
You got to keep it now.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
So but I was a two seed and I'm looking
like I'm gonna get through to the I have a
huge lead and I still have Michael Pittman to play to. Actually,
I take that back. I have a huge lead. I
have Kittle, he has Pittman, so I'm pretty good there.
So anyway, making it through in one out of three,
we'll all.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
Be stressing championships on Christmas Day.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
That's what exactly, Yes, yes, exactly, it's exactly what it is. Anyway,
we got a lot to do on the show today.
We're gonna go through our week two of the playoffs
heroes and villains. I could have said that a lot
better and smoother than I just did.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
Whatever.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
Also looking ahead to maybe some big questions for week
seventeen because we're starting to get information, and of course
one last waiver wire go around for folks, people who
to drop, people who to add, and then just some
general tips on how to approach it because this is
a different week when it comes to the waiver wire.
So we got all that and more. Plus first we'll
do some news headlines, as we always do about this time,
(06:58):
going back to Saturday Night Jordan Love was forced out
of the Packers game against the Bears with a concussion.
He is in the protocol as of us recording this show.
I know the Packers is certainly optimistic that he can
come back, but we will wait and see. But Florio,
how big of a hit do the Green Bay pass
catchers take if it is Malik Willis that has to
(07:19):
start next week?
Speaker 4 (07:20):
Huge, huge hit, I think. And it's not that I
don't believe in Malik Willis. It's set. The Packers made
it pretty clear, I would say, in the games that
he has played that like they don't want him airing
it out at a high rate. Even when they let
him throw, he's not throwing it downfield often. You know,
it's a lot of catch and run type of passes.
(07:41):
So I've become a big Jordan Love fan this year.
If he's out there, I think like Christian Watson and
Jaden Reid remain options. I don't even think there must
plays with Love because the Packers would read back and
golden back and everyone healthy again. Like they're spreading the
ball out at a high rate. At least that's what
they did this past week when Love was out there,
(08:01):
and it makes it frustrating for fantasy. But with Willis,
like I have Watson on at least one of my
teams that have made it through, and if he if
it's Malik Willis, I will not be playing Christian Watson
this week. Yeah, it's just it's a it's a tough situation.
It was.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
It was so great too, Kwhan, because Christian Watson had
become a thing, like legitimately a thing in this offense.
I mean, I fact, I was going back. I forgot
like Tucker Craft. Remember how good Tucker Craft had been
when he was healthy.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
Remember that guy.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
Yeah, I literally was like I was looking at him
like he's still the tight end sixteen, at least as
of last night, was still the tight end sixteen.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
I was like, this was going to be the season.
There's a place since week nine, Yeah, this was going
to be the season that Tucker Craft was going to explode.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
And like it just.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
Sucks, man like turn injuries off, Like I don't want
to go back to my my you know, miss plays
and all this other stuff, but come on now, like junkins,
I mean, come Onie Vidau, like come on, you got
Jordan Love, Like all these injuries really trash a lot
of fantasy managers this week, So it's like turn injuries
off man because, like, I honestly want you know Jordan
(09:09):
Love next week if he's up an atomatic concussion protocol,
because when Malik willis, like, it's cool that you know,
he can be a guy that you pick up off
the way wire if Jordan Love doesn't go, But it's
not going to be one of those sexy picks out
there that's going to help you bring home the gold.
Like I do feel like Florio's saying that most of
these wide receivers taking a hit, they absolutely will because
more often than not, he's going to take the ball
(09:30):
tucking and run. So like if he's going to be
running the ball more often than not. Also, you look
at other the the other pass catchers like a Jayden
Reed and stuff like that, you're hoping to be used
close to the line of scrimms.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
Because he can give you that yack.
Speaker 3 (09:41):
But then it's like, how often is Malik willis going
to be throwing the ball for four quarters?
Speaker 4 (09:45):
You know? Yeah? No, I think that's that's gonna be
the big question. Sure, next week we could get Packers
Ravens with their playoffs backs against the wall, with both
teams having a backup quarterback.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
Let's go Willis Tyler Huntley that we have all been
pining for.
Speaker 4 (10:03):
Man, I hope Jordan Love is good though. Man, you
know we hope so.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
I mean, definitely it helps the Packers. It just makes
it more entertaining too. I think on that level, I'm
a more serious story. Well, I guess equally serious in
its own way. It's still very much in development. You
have probably seen the video by now of DK Metcalf
getting in an altercation with a Lions fan in the stands.
(10:28):
DK goes over to the stands the fan says something
to him. Obviously we don't hear what it is, but
Metcalf takes a swipe at the guy. The NFL is
reviewing it now. Both sides have given their take on it.
According to the fan, he says he was just using
DK's full name and that's what got him upset. According
(10:50):
to Metcalf, this is not the first time he has
had a run in with this fan. That had happened
during his days in Seattle. That the fan taunted him
and said to things to upset him. Now, there's also
some uh reports from the other fans that were in
the area, and they said that this fan used language
(11:10):
about Metcalf's mother and about Metcalf himself that absolutely crossed
the line.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
So the league is obviously reviewing it.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
We don't know at this point what if any discipline
is going to come for DK.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
But I mean, lakwan, let's you know.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
If we take this out to the situation of is
is there possibly a suspension coming again?
Speaker 2 (11:32):
At this point?
Speaker 1 (11:32):
We don't know, but you know, we got to kind
of game plan for what might happen. I get a
DK is not necessarily been a huge Fantasy star this year,
but he's had some.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
Nice games along the way.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
I mean, I guess you know, if you have him
and you're still alive, are you are you pivoting to
like a Calvin Austen?
Speaker 2 (11:53):
Are you?
Speaker 1 (11:53):
Are you going away from the Steelers altogether at this
point away?
Speaker 4 (11:59):
Look on your face, like whoa Calvin Awson? Of all people?
Speaker 3 (12:02):
I don't know Ben Skarnik in there, I mean, why not?
I mean Adam Deeling, you know, like what yeah, man,
Ram Sledge, I like that, Like we love Ben. I mean, look,
if ben' Skarnick gets opportunity, I hope he balls out
for real life purposes, but for fantasy, you definitely take
a hit. Like it's one of those situations that you're
hoping that if you were riding with DK, like you
(12:25):
saw the up and down roller coasters he's had all
season long, so you kind of properly prepared yourself to have,
you know, the wide receiver four ready, the wide receiver five,
Like at least you have some depth opportunities. But I'm
not looking for seeing team situation of like Calvin Awson
or Ben Skaronic or Adam Theeen, Like I'm more so
looking elsewhere, like Florida has the waiver wiing you know
(12:46):
later in the show that he'll get to some of
the wide receivers that I'd rather pivot to. But like,
this will suck if he gets suspended for this. To
be honest, like you're talking about my mom, you're saying
my full name, whatever the case may be, right, I
feel like both sides are wrong because you paid to
see me play football, you saying whatever you say. You
need to be a little bit more emotionally stable, I
(13:07):
would say, because in the text chain week a week ago,
I've kind of expressed of the type of football that
he plays and the type of activities he doesn't. Like
he was a success football, that's what you success. For
this situation to unfold like this, it's kind of unfortunately
on the fan side and for DK because it's like
why did this happen? Like you're supposed to be all
(13:29):
the way on the bench, like how is he even
able to speak that loud that you can hear anything
he's saying, and like for that fan to be barking
like that, why did security step in? Like you see
security on the sideline standing there like they usually intervene
with these things of like yo, chill out, you're gonna
get kicked out. It's a lot of going on.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Yeah, I mean, there's definitely a lot going on.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
I would say neither side comes out of this looking good.
You know, obviously there's more to be learned. I'm curious
how much of it we actually do find out. We'll see,
but you know, we're just we're waiting for discipline there.
There's I can't imagine there won't be some form of
league discipline.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
We'll see what it's going to be. We did in
week one. It feels like a lifetime ago, but Lamar
did shove a Bills fan in Week one, and there
was no punishment I think on either side. So I
who knows, Like I do think if you have DK
though plan on a contingency just in.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Case, yep, I think you got to.
Speaker 1 (14:25):
You got to make a backup plan, just just in
case the league decides to hand down a suspension.
Speaker 4 (14:29):
So who knows.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
JJ McCarthy. I was in the midst of having a
pretty good game against Florio.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
Boy, yeah, I saved this, especially for Florio because you
have admitted that you're sort of kind of rooting for
JJ a little bit now. But injured his right hand
against the Giants. Max Brozmer came in and finished things out.
Speaker 4 (14:50):
Also side notes all of this. I actually we'll get
to that a little bit later.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
But if it is Brozemer, and again it's it's Monday
morning when we're putting this thing together, so we don't
know much of anything. But if it is Brosmer against
the Lions, can you trust any of the Vikings pass
catchers this week?
Speaker 4 (15:07):
Probably not. He was so bad in his one, Like
he was so bad that they were like, let's get
JJ out here as quickly as possible. When JJ was
playing his worst football of the And yeah, the reason
I'm rooting for JJ is just because whatever like consensus
completely goes against the player. I'm always like I would
like that player to prove everyone wrong. It's not like
(15:29):
I'm a JJ Fenn or something like that. But I
do think he was judged too early. We've talked about
it already, but when he first came back, he was
playing defenses that had already seen him or that are
some of the top defenses in the NFL, and that's
not really a fair way of judging someone. He the
schedule has lightened up as of late, and I'm not
saying he's set in the world on fire, but he
(15:50):
has played better and he's looked better for those who
have watched. And I thought he made the interception was rough,
but I thought he made some good throws yesterday. And
then I thought, on top of that, like the Lions
would be an opportunity you could get. I don't really
want to do Jordan Addison. He's dropping everything that goes
his way.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
That touchdown doing, Yeah, that would have been another touchdown
for JJ.
Speaker 4 (16:12):
He's had a lot of bad drops Addison. I don't
Hockinson we're not doing any of that. It's really just
Justin Jefferson and the Lions should be a spot you
could use him because you're like they could be trailing.
They're awful against wide receivers. But if it's Brosmer, I
don't know you'd have to it would It would very
much still depend on your options, and there's probably a
(16:33):
world where you have better ones than Jefferson. Unless you're
in a pinch, then I understand just throwing him out
there in the matchup, but it's not ideally what I
want to do in the championship with Max Brosmer, you.
Speaker 2 (16:42):
Know, I mean, let's let's keep it a buck.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
If you are consistently starting any Vikings pass catchers, it's
a miracle that you are still playing.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
Yeah, we're talking to a small percentage of Fantasy mannerisers
right now with Justin Jefferson in the Championship.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
So the two of you out there, you think long
and hard about your opportunity of what was going to
happen this week.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
I think in in one of my leagues, I lost
to JJ zach Yson last week by two points, and
then he with I had an injury too, which sucked,
But he's snuck by again this week and he has
justin Jefferson. So JJ, we're talking to you directly.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
I guess JJ doesn't need our help man, Like, you know,
if anything, we should be like taking a look at
his Monday morning, you know, data thread and you know,
been pulling stuff from there. Lakwan, you mentioned Quinn Shawn Judkins.
He did leave with a broken leg, broken fibula in
a dislocated ankle. The initial timeline for his rehab recovery
(17:44):
return is somewhere in the neighborhood of four to five months,
So we're looking at probably May for him to get
back out of the field, certainly plenty of time for
OTA's mini camps and then definitely training camp once we.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
Get to the summer.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
In the short term though, does this mean a Dylan
Sampson season.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
Uh, maybe, you know Rocket Sanders, maybe a little mixture
of Dylan Samson. Like I feel like now I'm kind
of turned off with the Browns, you know, running backs
just based on the old line that's been questionable these
last couple of weeks, and it's like I only seen
quin Shawn Jenkins producing behind that line in a positive matter,
getting positive yards and I do think like now it
(18:24):
comes down to the waiver wire, comes down to your
running back fours and fives that you rostered this long
and it's like one of those things where it sucks,
you know, because like Junkins was literally the best back
on that roster and now putting my faith in one
of these backups. It's one of the things where Sampson
was banged up this week or last week. In the
sense of what you're listening to now, I feel like
(18:44):
I just cannot even try to sit there and try
to play that game and try to put a Browns
running back in the starting lineup in the championship right now.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
Well, especially when it's not quin Shawn Judkins. I mean
just because he was the home run hitter. He was
the explosive guy who could rip off big run, maybe
take it to the house. I was also getting a
few targets here and there.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
I mean, he busted off of a long one and
like for holding it got called back. So it's like
he was on the track of having a strong performance
and like just cut short he.
Speaker 4 (19:15):
Would have because he would have got the touchdown late.
Like it was very painful as someone who has Judkins
to watch Sanders, and but I do think if Samson
is back this week, he's the only one I'd be
interested in because he could do both right, Like, we've
seen Samson as the lead back this year, and they're
not afraid to give him the bulk of carries on
the ground and use him in the passing game, Whereas
(19:38):
if it's Sanders, he'll get the carries and then the
fake Trevion will get the targets in the rounds. I
don't want to do that, but if Samson is back,
I could I could see him being in play potentially.
The fake Travion is crazy.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
I mean you obviously you watched that game against the Bills.
I mean there was a ton of screen pass like
that was the whole They built a whole plane out
of screen passes yesterday, and it seemed like they had
the Bills kind of turned around by.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
It too, Like I mean, that's how you beat the
Bills defense.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
You just beat him on the edge and then just
get upfield, and that's kind of just what the game
plan was.
Speaker 4 (20:12):
Sanders quarterback running against the Bills is huge too. And
Sanders ran for almost fifty yards yesterday like he was
he was doing his thing.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
At least the first quarter, maybe even part of the
second quarter, he had the bills kind of tied up
in knots. And then it also felt like the game script,
the the you know, the the fifteen or twenty scripted plays,
that part kind of ran out, and then it was like,
all right, well, good luck right now right exactly what
it was? What now sort of thing.
Speaker 4 (20:38):
It didn't help that Brandon Cooks first. I know this
is a different thing, but Brandon Cook's second straight week
dropped like a fifty yarder right through his hands, and
then Dawson Knox dropped the touchdown like it was. It
was a painful watch for me yesterday. It wasn't enjoyable.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
I was you know, I was watching that kind of
I wasn't fully watching it, but had an eye on him,
kind of like this not looking great right now, not
looking great.
Speaker 4 (20:59):
But eventually they figured out Brandon Cooks. They love him,
that he's fast and he's getting open, but he doesn't
know how hands work. That is the big problem. He
tell me about it.
Speaker 3 (21:09):
We could have won a Super Bowl if he would
have caught that one, which is wild saying wild thing there.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
Last bit of news year the Chiefs believe Gardner Minshew
has torn his acl that came in a surprising like
blowout loss the Tits. I mean they got thumped by
Tennessee on Sunday. So it appears that after years of
getting away with it, the Chiefs are no longer getting
away with it. Chris o'lana kun is in line to
(21:35):
be the starter on Christmas Day against the Denver Broncos.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
Uh So, Floria, I'll ask you, this is it now?
Speaker 1 (21:43):
Like now officially a rap on the Chiefs in fantasy football.
Speaker 4 (21:47):
Yes, it was wild because yesterday I'm watching you know,
I have I have the Bills on their own screen,
and then I have like a quad box with red
zone on it, and the one I couldn't fit one
game that I was like, all right, I can I
guess I can't lock into that one game. And it
was an easy decision. It was like it's Chiefs Titans,
Like I have no care about that game, Like I
(22:08):
like cam Ward. He made a few nice throws. I'm
gonna watch a lot of his games back this offseason.
But in fantasy playoff time, the Titans mean nothing, The
Chiefs mean nothing, and yeah, without Garner Minshew like even
if for Steve Rice returns next week, I'm sitting him.
I would sit Travis Kelsey. I know Isaiah Pacheco had
a bunch of targets. I don't care because if they
(22:29):
do get a touchdown, it's gonna go to Kareem Hunt. Yeah,
this is a wasteland of an because I know everyone's
gonna be like it's without Mahomes. Yes, that's huge obviously,
but we're going now to a third stringer who I
believe was undrafted and yesterday was his first naps in
the NFL. Like I I don't want my fantasy titles
(22:49):
clinging to that, especially against the Denver Broncos.
Speaker 1 (22:53):
I did post like what is Chris alata kun? And
I was now what Koby who told me that he
was kind of a practice squad hero I think for
the Steelers for a year or two and then the Chiefs.
Speaker 4 (23:07):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (23:08):
He did play odd game. He played odd game last year.
He appeared in one game, did not start it no surprise.
He was sacked for five yards. That is the only
statistic that he I know. He did have one carry
for five yards also, so basically he ran.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
For five yards.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
He was sacked for five yards pretty much washed.
Speaker 4 (23:31):
It wasn't great against the Titans. Now the Broncos have
a week to prepare for him in a game they
absolutely need to win and are upset after losing to
the jag Wars. I think they just kind of just
walk off the bus and play. If they win that game,
then the following week against the Chargers is four I
believe the one If it's definitely for the division, it
(23:52):
might be for the one seed, depending on how things play, Like, yeah,
they're going to annihilate the Chiefs on Christmas.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
By the way, that weird fever dream of the Chargers
and Rams potentially hosting games on Championship Sunday, I think
it's still out there.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
There's still a possibility.
Speaker 4 (24:11):
The Chargers could get a top seed.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
I know, and like the idea of like what happens
if Sofi Stadium has to do two championship games on
the same day, Like, I'm sure there are people in facilities,
the facilities and the field crew over there is just
like all right, let's let's start gaming this out.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
Just you know, it's a long shot, but let's game
it out just in case you gotta go.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
Just like NFL, right, like you have no low one
Chargers end zone one RAMS end zone, like just.
Speaker 1 (24:36):
Like one in zones, Chargers one is RAMS. It's just
NFL in the middle. That'll be wild.
Speaker 4 (24:40):
Like I'm kind of rooty for pushing word now.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
I just kind of want to see how this would work.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
I'm here to help out the crew. I'll help out
the field crew prepare it. As long as this Chargers bills,
I'm cool with it.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
That's funny. It'll be weird, So who knows.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
All right, So that wraps up the news that we're
just getting into things here. We'll take a quick break,
come back, talk to some playoff Week two heroes.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
Next on the NFL Fantasy Football Podcast. All right, so Week.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
Two of the fantasy playoffs pretty much wrapped up minus
Steve Monday Night Football game. Of course, that means some
more heroes and villains for us Lakwan.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
Who is your playoff Week two hero?
Speaker 3 (25:19):
Kyle pits I mean a lot of folks were like
questioning to start him with Drake London coming back, but
it looked like even with Drake London coming back, Kyle
Pitts picked the ball up and kept going so like
he almost had two touchdowns if he doesn't drop that
one in the end zone where he was wide open.
But I think Kirk could have put it, you know,
in the numbers. But at the end of the day,
it's one of those things that are just like Kyle Pits,
There's not enough people out there throwing the cape on
(25:41):
for him. Man, He's literally the tight end two right
now and like for him to be a top three
tight end to finish this season out man, not enough
people are talking about that or cheering for him. So
shout out to Kyle pitch Man leading a bunch of
fantasy managers to the championship.
Speaker 4 (25:55):
Bring it home. He got me in two.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
Yeah, man, it's great to see a little frustrating because
I had London in a couple of leagues, but you
know what, not gonna hate, not gonna hate flor It.
Speaker 4 (26:05):
Yeah. I was losing in one all day and then
that Kyle Pitts I started. It was the two quarterback league.
I told you when my quarterbacks are trash and I
started at Kirk Cousins and that stack pushed me over
the top. So I was loving that. There is Who's
your hero for this week, Chris ol Lava, because in
one of the leagues that I ended up winning and
(26:25):
making the Championship. It was looking rough for much of
the day and then Chris Olava exploded and really gave
me a padding there to help. And it's not just like, yes,
this was his best game of the year by far,
for second game all year with multiple touchdowns, season high,
sixteen targets, ten catches tied a season high. One hundred
and forty eight yards was a season high. But he's
(26:47):
been getting a lot of volume as of late, and
him and Tyler Schuck have some chemistry cooking and I
haven't checked it yet, but I know coming into the week,
Shuck was fifth in completion yards on passes of ten
or more air yards. Those are looks going to Chris o'lave.
So I feel really good about Chris Olave next week
in the Fantasy Championship, and uh, it's to spin it
(27:08):
forward to next year. I was thinking a lot about
this recently, and I was like, you know, we all
were saying we didn't love Chris Olave this summer, and
we didn't love his situation and stuff. But the only
reason I have him on a couple of teams is
because he was going so late that. I was like,
whenever I would get there, I'd be like, you know what,
I'll take a shot on the lave at this cost.
(27:28):
I'm gonna look next season four players like that that
the fantasy industry is just like I don't really want
but we know is really talented and is going at
a discount, and then I'm just gonna draft that player,
all right. I like that idea, I really do.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
I remember him going around real quick where Brandon Ayuk
was going, you know, where the Keenan Allen's of the
world were going. And like Chris olave Man, the og
now of the satel of Discontent. Man, that's the pass
I love that he escaped man like he's run free.
Speaker 4 (27:57):
He needed to. He might be in the Satchel of
Champion soon enough.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
Hey, he is the Andy Dufrayne of the Satchel of Discontent.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
You'll understand that reference.
Speaker 1 (28:07):
You'll understand that reference this summer when we make you
watch seaw Shank Redemption, you'll understand it a little bit more. Anyway,
my heroes was Trevor Lawrence, who at this point we
have to call him Trevor Lawrence. You gotta call him
Trevor Lawrence. Now Lakwan Trevor Lawrence, William tre trev Lawrence.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
He's like in a week where.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
No one expected him to do anything on the road
at Denver. As of now, heading into Monday Night football,
he is the QB one for the week thirty one points.
He scored seventy five points in back to back weeks.
You go back to week thirteen, he has fourteen total touchdowns,
no turnovers, no interceptions, no fumbles.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
He has been over two.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
Hundred and twenty five passing yards in all of the
games he's given you nineteen or more and four straight.
I mean, he is on absolute fire and made a statement.
He and the Jaguars made a statement by going into
Denver and handling the Broncos. So like, look, if you
if you were bold enough to start him, if you
were you know, forced into it, whatever, he was huge
(29:10):
for you in a situation where I don't think anybody
really believed he could do. If Trevor Lawrence had scored
fifteen points against the Broncos, I'd have been like, all right,
that's you know what, I'll take that. That's not bad.
Got just thirty one.
Speaker 4 (29:23):
Yesterday was the most impressed I've ever been with.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
Trevor Lawrence seriously, and this is my text chain, right,
I've been I was getting blown up yesterday because Trevor
was going off. I mean, justin Henry, Trev's gonna need
a new nickname. Shout out to jg Man. I was
told that he was mid and then I get added
on Twitter Blue Sky Patrick Layborne saying that I was
(29:46):
the reason why like the Jags, oh la kwan a ton.
He is single handedly motivated the Jags to try extra hard.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
Chat.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
I've been saying for the last month and a half
that he was a playoff stash.
Speaker 4 (29:59):
I've been calling William for the last couple of weeks.
He is no longer mid. He's been retired off the middimeter.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
So it's good. He's impressed. He's earned my respect. Shout
out to Trevor.
Speaker 2 (30:09):
All Right, I had it, very good, very good.
Speaker 4 (30:12):
I appreciate. See this is growth, this is growth. All right?
Speaker 1 (30:15):
So those are the heroes laquad. Who's your playoff of
villain in week two?
Speaker 2 (30:18):
All right?
Speaker 3 (30:18):
This one kind of made me upset because this was
our tight end one Tray McBride six fantasy points. I mean,
I guess Elijah Higgins, you know, he had other plans
of showing up and showing out, nearly putting up one
hundred yards and again, Trey McBride just could not get separation,
Like when you're watching him out there, like he is
being doubled, Like they've made sure to take him out
(30:39):
of the game. Sure, Elijah Higgins, the backup tight end,
go off, go off on the wayward. That helped absolutely nobody.
So trade McBride, Like, I'm literally sitting in the leagues
with multiple trade mcbrides and I'm not going to the
championship because of him. So he is my number one
top op. I probably won't draft because of that.
Speaker 4 (30:58):
Well, I'm glad. I'm just bitter right now. I'm just bitter.
I did survive one mcbray McBride lineup that I had.
But I will say, like last week I went on
Fantasy Live and I was like, yes, the Falcons are
the toughest matchup for tight ends. I don't care. I
think it. We need to give the Falcons some credit
to they were. They played phenomenally against McBride.
Speaker 3 (31:20):
They took him out of the game like there was
no separation that he could possibly get, and.
Speaker 4 (31:26):
Jacobe usually take the risk He also probably should have
caught that touchdown.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
But listen, there was a lot going on. It was
well guarded, but it hit him in the head. They
took him out of the game. Shout out to the Falcons.
Speaker 4 (31:40):
He's gonna make up for it for whoever survived, because
he gets the Bengals next.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
Week, or he's going to go off for people who lost,
and like they're gonna sit there and be salty about it.
Speaker 4 (31:48):
Thank you that that's that's what I was about to say.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
That was literally off Florida your villain for the week, the.
Speaker 4 (31:57):
Green Bay Packers because they play Saturday night and a
lot of a lot of people were watching, and uh, look,
I'm not gonna knock Jordan Love. He gets he gets
concussed very early, unfortunately, so he's out. But then it
was just a house of cards after that. Christian Watson
had less than four fantasy points. Jayden Reed the other
(32:19):
Packers wide receiver that people probably considered starting. He didn't
do anything either. You know who did, Romeo Dobbs, who
no one started. And then Josh Jacobs, right, I know,
he was banged up coming in, he was up in
the air, but then he ends up going he has
a fumble, they don't give him the ball again the
rest of the game. Instead, they just keep using Emmanuel Wilson,
(32:42):
who people picked up but no one started because Josh
Jacobs ended up playing. So the Packers that you used
your calls to you like we were We went out
for dinner on Saturday night and Nicolette was like, he
got me like three point two points and I'm like,
it's not over, It's not over, And it was over,
like it was over ruin you so many people's Fantasy championships,
(33:05):
even before semifinals, I mean before Sunday. Wow, yeah, that
was that was brutal. For sure.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
Mine's Josh Allen and this isn't like a you know,
it's not a Josh Allen hate moment. Just he just
came up short at the worst possible moment for you.
Speaker 2 (33:21):
It is really all it was. I mean, the Bulls
offense and you.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
Can speak to this probably better than either of us,
but they just looked discombobulated. They just couldn't really generate
much of anything. James Cook kind of helped carry the day,
and I mean, look, you do this one hundred times,
You're starting Josh Allen one hundred times and more often
than not, he's going to produce for you.
Speaker 2 (33:43):
This was the week he didn't.
Speaker 1 (33:46):
If you were able to survive, congratulations, If not, sorry
about your luck dims the breaks in this weird game.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
That we play. Worst fantasy game since his rookie year
or since twenty nineteen, I believe, and his first ever
career win and with fewer than two hundred yards and
no touchdowns, but he still had a touchdown Dawson Knox
that hit him in the face mask like the I
don't know what they're doing with their receiver room lately,
but it hasn't been good.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
Kon Coleman gave Davis were healthy scratches like it's HiT's
a wrap for keys and it's a rap Buffalo. Yeah,
I think it's over for him in Buffalo.
Speaker 4 (34:20):
Like if he's there next year, it says they're four
or five, like it's it's nothing more. You definitely draft
another wide receiver though, right, Like, no, I forget drafting,
Just go get one of these big names that doesn't
want to be on their team anymore.
Speaker 2 (34:35):
Nobody would try to Brown. You're you're you're you're asking
for a J Brown.
Speaker 4 (34:39):
AJ Brown. Uh, justin Jefferson was unhappy this year. DJ Moore,
I know is happy now, but for a lot of
the year he was like a forgotten man in Chicago.
Like I don't want Brandon Ayuk. I'll tell you that
right now, Marcus, the other options like those, I would
rather swing big and get approving commodity. But we'll see
(35:01):
what they do. They'll draw someone in the third.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
Rounds, go out and get a free agent and then
draft mackay Lemon. That is that the USC bullet Nakoff winner. Yes,
you're actually getting better at it. I mean it's not great,
but you're better at it now than you were earlier
in the season.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
Stop.
Speaker 1 (35:17):
Yeah, there you go, There you go. That's little Bunny
fou fou over here. All right, We're gonna take a
quick break in talk about what the is going on
with some weirdness that we saw on Sundays around the
NFL and fantasy football.
Speaker 4 (35:30):
That's coming up next. One last look back at.
Speaker 1 (35:37):
Week sixteen with a little thing it's called what the
bleep is going on? You mentioned justin Jefferson Florida before
the break and his frustrations, had his best game since
Week nine. Six catches eighty what eighty five eighty six
yards I think it was. Is does this mean they're
figuring something out or is this purely because the Giants stink?
Speaker 4 (35:58):
All that? But it's good to see that they took
advantage of the matchup because they've had favorable matchups leading
up to this and it really hasn't all worked out.
But still feel the same way, like next week's a
great matchup, even better than the Giants, right, Like the
Lions are one of two teams worse against receivers than
the Giants have been this season. But I, if it's Max,
(36:20):
I I can't.
Speaker 1 (36:21):
Do Yeah, yeah, I mean, look, this was the week.
I actually coming into this week was just kind of like, yeah,
it's it's over for Justin Jefferson. Like I'm like if
I somehow survived, Like I can't keep running him back
out there, So like this would have we if I
had had him somewhere, I probably would have benched him. Yeah,
I don't know if I'd have been sad about missing
out on those fourteen points or whatever it was that
(36:43):
he gave you, but it just it just didn't make
sense to keep doing it at this point.
Speaker 4 (36:48):
This season is going to ruin his all time standings
because like he should be getting fifteen hundred and ten
every year, but.
Speaker 1 (36:56):
You know it's gonna be it's gonna be one of
those things where you look back and you'll see like the.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
Low number and you're like, was he hurt or something?
Speaker 1 (37:02):
This year'll be like, no, nope, no quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
His quarterbacks stunk. That's all. That's pretty much all it is.
Speaker 4 (37:09):
The Vikings should have a lot of explaining to do
on how their quarterback room got so bad, Like I
get it with JJ, but behind like you had so
much talent.
Speaker 1 (37:20):
That's what I would want from a Hard Knocks. That's
what I would want from a Hard Knocks. But they'll
never they will never thanks to the Giants open up
and give us that kind of access.
Speaker 4 (37:28):
Oh yeah yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:30):
After the Saquon Barkley with the Giant like we will
never see that sort of access into a team's front
office decisions ever.
Speaker 4 (37:36):
Ever, the Giants also gave us the clip of of
their GM being like, I don't know, Beal Jackson Dart,
it's on you, and then when he's good, he's like
it was all of us, man, I was just as
influential on that, Like.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
Yeah, Ashton Gentc against the Houston Texans.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
I mean we were all away from the Raiders.
Speaker 1 (37:58):
I mean we literally asked Kim last week Florida, like,
will the Raiders score a touchdown? Like it was a
common question around social media. At what point they had
the lead in that game? And Ashton Genty has his
second best game of the season, one hundred and twenty
eight rushing yards, a rushing touchdown, sixty receiving yards, and
(38:19):
a receiving touchdown.
Speaker 2 (38:21):
He did it against the Texans.
Speaker 3 (38:22):
Lakwan like, what what thed is going on?
Speaker 2 (38:25):
What happened? How did this happen?
Speaker 3 (38:27):
That's exactly what I was saying when I was watching
that game, Like how would the Raiders still in this game?
Like I had the Texans defense everywhere in a lot
of leagues, and I'm like, yeah, they still gave me
twelve points, but at one point they had eighteen because
they were just turning the ball over getting sacks, And
it's like, wait, Ashton Genty a sixty yard reception, how
how did you let that go? Okay, that happened, and
(38:48):
then he runs one another one for like I forget
how many yards, but it's like one of those things,
where did the Texans show up or like did they
take the starters out? Because it made no sense that
Ashton Genty was having this type of game on a
lot of benches, like so many people in leagues that
are probably looking at him on the bench like you're
the reason why I'm not going to the championship.
Speaker 4 (39:09):
And the folks who started him shout out to you
rolling the dice because you probably had no depth at
the running back position. You were forced to start him,
and again that looks scary on paper with the Texans defense,
with the way they've been stuffing, the way they've been
suffocating the running back position. It kind of was just like,
you know what it is, what it is, I deserve this.
Speaker 3 (39:29):
You know what if I bench Ashton Gent, I made
that high draft investment, I should have started him in
the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (39:34):
Well is, if you started Ashton Gent, then you were
probably cruising through your consolation bracket because that's probably where
you were as we're starting a Washington GENC all year long.
Speaker 4 (39:43):
Yeah, we're talking to a small presentage the people I
have a team where I traded for him, Like the
team that had him was falling out of it, so
I took a shot on him and I did bench
him this week, but I won. Your reward if you
do have him, is he gets the New York Giants Snakes.
Speaker 1 (39:57):
There you, which means he's gonna give you like six Yes,
that's how this works.
Speaker 4 (40:02):
Were on this game, man, I don't know about c J. Stroud,
Like I don't know about the Texans. Was that well?
Speaker 1 (40:10):
They were so good until all of a sudden yesterday
they weren't.
Speaker 2 (40:13):
And I think.
Speaker 1 (40:15):
Just I thought Greg Rosenthal put it really well on
Blue Sky. It's like when CJ. Stroud is bad, like
he's bad bad, that's kind of it. Like when he's good,
like when he's peaking, you know, things look really good
and you're like, Okay, I understand why he was drafted
where he was.
Speaker 4 (40:31):
But when it's bad, it's just it is scary bad
for him. It's the Raiders like all this.
Speaker 1 (40:39):
I got texts from multiple Raider fans who are like,
they better not win this game.
Speaker 2 (40:42):
Like, what are the Raiders doing? What are the Raiders doing?
Speaker 4 (40:46):
They had they almost wanted, man, they almost want it.
The Texans would be legit super Bowl contenders with a
more consistent quarterback. I don't think they win it though,
because of their their offense, Like yeah, I think.
Speaker 1 (40:58):
That's that's going to hold them back for sure, because
at some point, you gotta score points and they don't.
Speaker 4 (41:02):
They don't really do that consistently.
Speaker 1 (41:05):
Lakwan Taysom Hill got twelve carries in a football game?
Speaker 4 (41:09):
Why we are all we talking about audreck like Audrey estimate?
Speaker 1 (41:13):
Where is Congress to step in and intervene? What is happening?
Speaker 4 (41:18):
How?
Speaker 3 (41:19):
I don't know because I was actually in the text
chain with you guys. I'm like, yes, Tyler shuck deep
bomb to Chris Olave And then I look back, I'm like,
why is Taysom Hill throwing these moms?
Speaker 4 (41:31):
Why is Taysom Hill even playing? Like?
Speaker 2 (41:32):
Why is Tyler Shuck so meaty?
Speaker 4 (41:37):
Boss?
Speaker 3 (41:39):
But I'm just saying this, like they know, like they
can utilize him as a tight end, running back, quarterback,
whatever the case may be. But why we don't need
him in playing quarterback when you have a quarterback that's
playing very well, that threw up three hundred yards Like
there makes no sense why he's even in the playbook
at this point, because I get it. In previous years
(42:00):
the Saints were just got awful and had no players
and had no offensive skill players that had versatility. It's
just one of those things like why are we sticking
him now? Like he needs to be banded. He needs
to be banded from the field. Let him give paycheck
on the bench. Why is he playing because he's good?
Speaker 4 (42:15):
I mean, look, look, look, I think it's it's one
thing to say it's frustrating for fantasy, because it is.
He threw a thirty eight yard touchdown pass, he led
them in rushing yards, and he was their third leading receiver.
And I do think this was a missed opportunity on
our part because when it's the third and fourth string
running back, clearly Taysom Hill is going to be involved
(42:38):
in the running game. And then on top of that,
what I didn't realize this might be his final game
he plays in New Orleans because they're on the road
the next two. And he said he and his wife
were talking about it all week and they were really
emotional and the team was behind him. We should have
saw this coming as what I'm trying to like, senior.
Speaker 2 (42:57):
Day for Taysom Hill.
Speaker 3 (42:58):
Yes, exactly, Cam Jordan, Cam Jordan as well, he balled
out as well.
Speaker 4 (43:03):
Yeah, but we can't use him in fantasy.
Speaker 2 (43:05):
No, but.
Speaker 1 (43:08):
Which is not our coworker, though he's got the podcast.
You know he's got his podcast here, it's a NFL
media like.
Speaker 3 (43:15):
He sacked fifty different quarterbacks. Man, that's that's a great
stat to have on your belt.
Speaker 4 (43:20):
Man.
Speaker 1 (43:20):
By the way, I saw this screenshot of a tweet
come through as we were talking earlier, and it fits
right here right. This is from Jeff Duncan, who is
one of the Saints beat writers. I'm just going to
read this verbatim, and I'm gonna as I read this,
I'm going to watch your faces for the reaction here.
Some folks have asked me about Taysom Hill's Hall of
Fame worthiness. Less unless something changes, he will not be
(43:45):
eligible for candidacy. To be considered for the Hall of Fame,
a player must have at least one recognized postseason honor
like Pro Bowl or All Pro on his career resume.
Speaker 4 (43:56):
Yo, give him Pro Bowl this year just to get
him on the ballot. I mean, so that means Snoop
Huntley is Hall of Fame.
Speaker 1 (44:04):
Else that means yep, Tyler Huntley has some Hall of
Fame kandacy at candidacy whenever he finally.
Speaker 3 (44:10):
Retires, he could be a Fantasy Hall of Famer. Is
there a Fantasy Hall of Fame? Just put him in there,
then Tayo Hill, Yeah, just put tast him in there.
Speaker 1 (44:18):
I think we're doing the all frustration wing of the
Fantasy Hall of Fame, because that's what that is.
Speaker 4 (44:26):
He plays a role that usually is a flash in
the pan, right, Like a guy usually does it for
like six games or a year at the most, and
then it kind of goes.
Speaker 3 (44:35):
Like how many different and so coordinators this guy's babs
stuck into the playbook like.
Speaker 4 (44:43):
It stinks for fantasy. It annoys us and everything. But
if you like take a step back, it's really cool
that he's been able to keep if the only person
who could keep this role, and he keeps it every
year with a different coordinator.
Speaker 2 (44:56):
But is it because he's good or just the Saints
have been bad?
Speaker 4 (45:00):
Like do you a combo bowl?
Speaker 2 (45:02):
Do you love Chitling's or.
Speaker 1 (45:04):
Have you been eating pig guts so long that you
don't know.
Speaker 4 (45:06):
The difference anymore? I don't know what either of those are. Yeah,
what is? You eat them? Obviously I've eaten them once.
Speaker 2 (45:14):
They're disgusting. I won't do it again. But that's the
point that's.
Speaker 4 (45:16):
He's in New Orleans next year. He's one hundred percent
in Denver, right.
Speaker 1 (45:20):
Like, oh yeah, yeah, stop putting this evil out there
in the world.
Speaker 4 (45:25):
Yeah, I could see it now. It looks beautiful. See ye.
I'd rather have Taysom Hill and Evan Ingram right now.
Speaker 2 (45:33):
Oh yeah, that's true.
Speaker 1 (45:35):
Well, because Sean Payton will actually drop plays for Taysom Hill.
He's the only joker that he's ever Actually, I don't
want to think about this anymore for har just happens.
Speaker 2 (45:46):
It's been four week seventeen.
Speaker 4 (45:48):
You know.
Speaker 1 (45:48):
Obviously we'll talk more about it as the week goes along,
but do have some big questions early on. First one
for you, Florio, how worried should we be for Josh
Jacobs obviously was less than one hundred percent going against
the Ravens who have improved, They've improved their run defense
over the course of the season. How worried should we
be if you were maybe starting Josh Jacobs in a championship?
Speaker 4 (46:10):
Yeah, the Ravens have become one of the tougher run
defenses in football. And I'm not gonna lie like I
was putting the names together for stardom Sidham yesterday, and
I looked at Josh Jacobs long, like for a very
long time, like because I am worried right like, he's
not fully healthy. It's a tough matchup. We don't know
if Jordan Love is going to be out there. And
(46:31):
I get it, a lot of Josh Jacobs managers probably
got bounced this past week. But if you survived, I
still I still find it very difficult despite everything I
just said to get away, Like maybe if you have
a much like you're a stacked team and you have
loaded options, sure, but most teams don't have that, and
(46:52):
I think in that situation you probably still roll the
dice on Josh Jacobs.
Speaker 2 (46:56):
And I think that's the thing.
Speaker 1 (46:57):
I think you're playing him because you probably don't have
anybody who's ceiling matches that.
Speaker 4 (47:02):
But man, it's it's scary hours right now for him.
Speaker 1 (47:06):
Unless unless we get reports that you know, everything is
great or whatever, he's good to go. But that doesn't
seem very likely right now for him. All right, Uh, look,
can you start Baker Mayfield against the Dolphins? Baker with
fewer than fifteen points and four one?
Speaker 2 (47:20):
Yeah? Sure?
Speaker 4 (47:21):
Because the Packers play Sunday, the Lions play on Christmas.
If the Lions lose, the Packers clinch the playoffs. That
also I think factors into the Josh Like if they clinch,
do they just shut him down?
Speaker 1 (47:34):
Because yeah, because the chances like them getting a one seed,
that's that's out. Yeah, So like I don't think they
can change their seed significantly the rest of the way.
Speaker 4 (47:45):
You'd rather get healthy, I'd imagine. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (47:47):
Yeah, And he's battling multiple injuries, so I could see
them shutting them down.
Speaker 4 (47:51):
So if you if you have Josh Jacobs and the.
Speaker 1 (47:56):
Rams to win or the Lions rather to win, yeah,
so yeah, yeah. But back to what I was asking you,
Laquon Baker Mayfield against Miami, can you start him next week?
Speaker 4 (48:06):
Uh? If you're okay with QB two numbers.
Speaker 3 (48:08):
I mean it's a serviceable matchup like we've seen Tyler Schuck,
We've seen like Joe Burrow explode on them just recently,
like last week. So I feel like it's a serviceable matchup.
But Baker has not been good. Like, let's be honest,
he has not been good. Even with the fully assembled roster.
He just has not been good in terms of completing
the ball. It's like, why are you overthrowing this? Why
(48:29):
are you not having the open wide open? Chris Godwin
playing out of a slot where that is your friend,
and it's like, I just feel like Baker right now,
he can't be trusted in the championship. I hope that
you have all their alternatives. I hope that you have
backups that can come in and like really help you out,
because the Championship, I feel like you're going for ceiling,
and his ceiling has not been great. It's been QB two.
(48:52):
It's been low end QB two for most weeks that
you put him in there, and he's not been the
guy that has we saw like the MVP. He's like,
once folks started throwing that, I'll just find a couple
three weeks. Yeah, it kind of evaporated. It was just like, Okay,
I play that now. I just don't get it. It's
just it's not a comfortable situation right now.
Speaker 1 (49:14):
Yeah, that's pretty rough. Last question here. I'm gonna ask
you Florio first and then I'll come back to la
Quan and get his thoughts on this. But this was
started talking well, I mean we started talking about you know,
Josh Jacobs right, like, do they do the Packers shut
him down if they clinch a playoff spot? You know
(49:35):
the Rams obviously are in a playoff spot. I know
there's still the division and possibly the one seed going
going along, but they got the Falcons this week and
I don't really care what Atlanta did yesterday against Arizona.
This is a different beast all together. Is it overthinking
things to say I don't want to start Matthew Stafford
(49:55):
because he might not play all four quarters against Atlanta,
And I feel like we do this every single year,
but this is Stafford is the guy this year that
we're doing and we did it with Tom Brady I
think a couple of years ago. Whatever, am I overthinking
things by bringing this up?
Speaker 4 (50:08):
I think it's a good conversation to have because fantasy
managers are probably starting to get concerned about guys getting
benched and stuff. I do think in this case I
wouldn't be worried about it, and maybe LQ feels differently,
but I think twofold. First, the Rams want to get
Matthew Stafford this MVP. I think that has been pretty evident,
(50:30):
and I think with this past week as well as
Stafford played, they lost, Drake May played really well on
Sunday Night Football. I don't. I went on Fantasy Live
on Friday before the Sunday games, and we're saying, like
everyone is declaring the MVP raceover, that is foolish, Like
it is not. But this is Stafford's last chance to
showcase it. And I don't think what happens in Week eighteen,
(50:52):
for really either team will influence the MVP voting a
whole lot. So I do think they're going to showcase
Stafford on Monday Night Football in a fantastic matchup. And
if he does come out and doesn't play the full
four quarters, I think it's because the Rams are blowing
them out so badly that they're just like, Okay, this
is it. But if they're getting to that point, Matthew
Stafford is going to give you numbers. So I think,
(51:15):
like I have Puka, I haven't even obviously not, but like,
like I haven't really been worried about this. I think
week eighteen the Rams should probably shut everyone down and
kind of get that built in bye week. But I
don't think you want to do it two weeks in
a row, because then you risk going into the playoffs
a little rusty and stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (51:33):
Yeah, I mean, in any real shot that that, you know,
Stafford just sort of plays three quarters and then shuts
it down in the fourth or something, that would.
Speaker 4 (51:43):
Probably mean they're blowing them out.
Speaker 3 (51:44):
And like Stafford's probably sitting with a twenty burger at
that point if he's you know, going out their scoring.
So I wouldn't worry about it, Like I do think
that I agree with Florio, like this is gonna be
Monday night primetime. MBP race has been wrapped up personally
since October, but I would just say, I would just
say over, yeah, it's been dead since October. Like we
(52:04):
constantly do.
Speaker 2 (52:05):
This, even crashing out in text chains about it.
Speaker 4 (52:08):
Because haven't even checked the odds. Is he still a
favorite or probably absolutely a lot of people.
Speaker 3 (52:16):
I've seen two names. I've seen two names that I'm
just like, are we serious?
Speaker 4 (52:21):
Like justin Herbert and Millions, I was, you know what
I was. And I've seen Trevor Lawrence get hell.
Speaker 1 (52:26):
I praised me for showing her straight because I almost
texted you about, hey man, there's a quarterback in Los
Angeles who wears blue and yellow. That's an m VP
candidate and was going to send you to Justin Herbert Stuf.
Speaker 3 (52:40):
What I'm talking about this, I was just talking at
this point, like just stop. It's annoying, Like stop, Okay,
I accepted the Josh Allen and Drake may fake campaigns.
But I'm just saying it is close.
Speaker 4 (52:55):
I'm just looking at it, right, and this isn't my opinion,
l Q. I'm just looking I just up he is
still a favorite, but it's very close.
Speaker 1 (53:03):
Anyway, Well, we'll take a break and you know, we'll
think through this and come back with some waiver wire
stuff as we wrap things up on the NFL Fantasy
Football Podcast. All Right, so this is for most leagues
because friends don't let friends play Week eighteen, this is
the last round of waiver runs, right, the last time
you can do drops and ads before you get ready
(53:24):
for your championship week. So it's a little bit different
because you know you're not stashing guys for any future opportunities.
There is no tomorrow. Literally, I mean there's a tomorrow,
but you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (53:37):
So, oh sorry you Lakwanda Floor.
Speaker 1 (53:40):
You can follow up, like, do you have any tips
on how people should approach waivers this week.
Speaker 3 (53:46):
Chase opportunity, not big names, Like I feel like opportunity
is what matters, and like the ceilings are the ultimate,
like goal this week, Like you need to get guys
that have the ultimate ceilings and not say floors, so
you're close to key, you know, the Keenan Allen's, Like
these are the guys that are not going to give
you those high ceilings.
Speaker 4 (54:05):
You need to go out there and shoot for the
stars this week, like put it all on the line,
all right, Florida.
Speaker 2 (54:10):
Anything to add to that.
Speaker 4 (54:12):
Yeah, I think this week is insanely unique because there's
no tomorrow, like you said, So if you have handcuffs
or whatever they're they're droppable because you're not anyone you're
not starting this week as long as you're confident that
your opponent won't pick them up and start them against you.
It is drole and anyone that you are starting, if
that includes a kicker or a defense, they're now your
(54:34):
top priority. And then my second top priority is anyone
that my opponent has. Like this past week, I had
fab left and my opponent didn't, and I knew he
was looking to the stream a running back, so I
picked up Michael Carter and Jordan and all the guys
that were available that might be streaming options so that
I could block my opponent. And now I'm gonna be
looking to do the same thing this week, and then
(54:56):
after that if you want to add your favorite player
or whoever you can, because the bench literally doesn't matter,
like it's just who you're starting this.
Speaker 3 (55:05):
Yeah, I mean I think I've done that before, Like
I've just quarterbacks that are no longer in the league
just to have a championship and have them on my bench.
Speaker 4 (55:12):
It looks cool, like.
Speaker 2 (55:14):
And then to man, yeah I really did.
Speaker 1 (55:21):
Man. Yeah, guys, look, if you are we get a
particular position, you know, I would definitely get a couple
of potential streaming options there, whether it's tight end defense,
kicker you mentioned, you know, like if you're not sure,
give yourself a couple of options, right, so you go
into Thursday or Saturday or Sunday or Monday with some
(55:44):
choices about what you think could be the best option
for you.
Speaker 4 (55:48):
So so I would I would do that.
Speaker 2 (55:49):
So, uh, for one last time, Kwan, who are we
dropping off our rosters?
Speaker 3 (55:55):
Rico dattle Listen, it has been disgusting the Panthers game
completely fell off a cliff, so I'm okay with dropping him,
even if you're rostering Cuba, like they're kind of just
eating each other live at this point and crazy enough,
in the last three games, Tuba Hubber has more yards
with less opportunities on the field than Rico Daddles, so
he's kind of fell completely off of the cliff. No
(56:16):
reason to even try to think about starting him because
it's pretty much over for the Panthers run game.
Speaker 4 (56:21):
Yah yea, it's pretty bad.
Speaker 2 (56:24):
At first.
Speaker 1 (56:24):
I was surprised when I saw this Floria, but then
I was like, nah, it did make sense.
Speaker 4 (56:27):
Yeah, Like I it's a mecha abuka, And I agree
with what LQ was saying earlier, like Baker don't really
want to. I think right now Mike Evans is the
only Buck I would want to start with confidence. I
think you're trying to get him that thousand. Yeah, I
think he's like six hundred yards short of it or
something like that. He can do it. I will say
(56:48):
I didn't have the the bravity of whatever you want
to call it to say sit Bucky, only because it's
against the Dolphins and they have been ran all over
all year, but I don't love the way they're using
that backfield and with a Mecca Buca. I know he
was their leading receiver yesterday, but he had two targets
and this has been a long time where it's just
(57:09):
falling off of a cliff. Him and Baker aren't on
the right page. I don't want to play him this week,
so I'm going to drop him to ensure that I don't.
Speaker 1 (57:18):
Yeah, that's it's funny because he was we were like
the start of the year, We're like, oh, I'm not
got Buca. He's runaway offensive rookie of the Year, and
then it just sort of fell apart, and now you know,
I think I think tetor Ro McMillan's probably your O
ro o yuh at this point.
Speaker 4 (57:33):
Yeah, it's just based on what he's.
Speaker 1 (57:35):
He's been a lot more consistent than he's had some
bigger games as the season especially.
Speaker 4 (57:40):
Yeah, for sure, if they were in the division, mine's
Keenan Allen.
Speaker 1 (57:44):
I was. I was shocked to see he's still on
like eighty percent of rosters on NFL dot Com. I
still believe I think it's just the name, right, It's
just Keenan Allen has held us down for so many years.
Speaker 4 (57:53):
Let's not forget.
Speaker 2 (57:54):
He had a hot start to the season.
Speaker 1 (57:56):
You know, he had what touchdowns in each of the
first three games, had a few double digit games on there.
Speaker 3 (58:02):
He was averaging like twenty something fantasy points per game,
and you know, and then the start of the season,
I remember, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (58:07):
But since the start of Week eight, he's had one
game with more than fifty receiving yards and Trey Harris
is starting to eat more into his opportunities weekly. So
this is just one of those things where I get
it Keenan Allen's been a really good player and a
really good fantasy option for a long time. This also,
just looking at his game logs and his usage, this
(58:28):
feels like one of those things where at the end
of the season, like he just drops his retirement announcement
right like, we're gonna we're gonna get on, We're gonna
get on social media on you know, X or blue
sky or Instagram is just gonna be that you know,
blue background with white text about like, I'm so proud
of the opportunity. I'm thankful for the opportunities the Chargers
(58:49):
organizations have given me. And because it's also fitting right,
he gets to he could putuly retire with the same
team that drafted him.
Speaker 2 (58:55):
You know, he had the one.
Speaker 1 (58:56):
Little uh, you know, sabbatical outside of the Chargers and
then comes back.
Speaker 2 (59:04):
It's you know, it's also perfect.
Speaker 1 (59:06):
This feels like like Keenan rides off into the sunset. Yeah,
after the playoffs, and then you know, then Trey Harris
becomes the guy there with with Latin QJ.
Speaker 4 (59:16):
This is pretty cool. Actually, twenty thirty. Uh, Philip Rivers
and Keenan Allen would then be Hall of Fame and chuck, wow, that.
Speaker 2 (59:24):
Kind of cool.
Speaker 1 (59:24):
Like, I don't I don't think Keenan gets in the
Hall of Fame, but it'd be kind of cool to
have them on the ballot together.
Speaker 4 (59:29):
Yeah, I hope he does. I'm not sure if he does.
I hope Rivers does as well.
Speaker 2 (59:34):
I think Rivers does. I don't.
Speaker 1 (59:36):
I don't think Keenan Allen he's the Hall of Very Good,
but I don't think he's a Hall of Fame time.
Speaker 4 (59:41):
I mean the Hall of very Good. Hopefully Tory Holt will.
Speaker 3 (59:43):
Be in the Hall of Fame by then, because the
Hall of very Good Tory Holt deserves to be in.
Speaker 4 (59:46):
Man come on.
Speaker 1 (59:48):
Yeah, I got abroad with big game, Tory Holt being
in there, that's fine, all hands maybe all right?
Speaker 2 (59:54):
So waiver wire.
Speaker 4 (59:55):
Who's who's on the waiver wire for Week seventeen? Quarterbacks?
If you need a streamer, Tyler Show, who's just been
balling out as of late. Cam Ward don't look now,
but multiple touchdowns in three straight games, Kirk Couz. It's
because quarterback is pretty thin if you need a streamer,
and he could be in a game where he has
to throw a ton and then JJ McCarthy if he's
able to play, it is a good matchup on paper.
(01:00:17):
Running Backs, Ramandre Stevenson gets the Jets next week, so
if Trevion's out, I just think Stevenson is a straight
up start. Michael Carter didn't have the biggest day, but
volume was on his side. And then the Browns running
backs we've already discussed. I like Dylan Samson if he's active.
If not, it'll be a combination of Raheem Sanders and
Travion Williams, who both of which sound like if you
(01:00:38):
said those names, you'd be like, no, that's I'm getting
two players confused, But no, those are real players and
then wide receiver Parker Washington and Mac Collins. Washington has
been balling out. Mac Collins is clearly their number two
option behind Steph Diggs. And then tight ends Dalton Schultz
again another big game, or not as big as the
(01:00:58):
week before, but still just can assistant and overlooked Darren
Waller gets another good matchup, and then uh, Taysom Hill
because if you need a tight end streamer, the floor
is low, but the upside is high with him.
Speaker 3 (01:01:12):
He imagine you lose, Imagine you lose to a Taysom
Hill game in the championship.
Speaker 4 (01:01:17):
Oh my muck one way or another, you know, like,
like seriously, if I lose that, oh my gosh, I
don't want to put that in the universe because I'm
still in it.
Speaker 2 (01:01:27):
Damn, We're Reverends Show. It's time for Harold fannin Watch.
Speaker 1 (01:01:33):
For those of you who don't remember, way back last February,
I believe it was in the spring, Lakwan here said
that if Harold Fannin junior finished as a top five
tight end that he would die his hair blonde. This comes, obviously,
after a year in which you guyed your hair blonde.
Because John new Smith finished as a top five tight end.
So after a big game in Week sixteen, of course,
(01:01:57):
Haeryld Fannin right now is tight end.
Speaker 2 (01:02:00):
He is less than a point.
Speaker 1 (01:02:03):
He is point eight points behind brock Bowers for the
tight end five spot. So currently it's Trey McBride at one,
Kyle pits it two, which, by the way is you know,
even the most optimistic Kyle Pitts person would not have
had him as tight end two at this point. Kyle
Pitts is two, Travis Kelsey is three, Jake Ferguson is
number four, you got Bowers at five, and Harold Finnon
(01:02:26):
right on his tail for he's that number five spot.
And let's see, let's look at who who are these
two guys playing.
Speaker 4 (01:02:34):
He's within five points till two of Ferguson and Kelsey,
so like he's got three opportunities to jump in the
top five.
Speaker 2 (01:02:40):
So he's got the.
Speaker 4 (01:02:42):
This is insane.
Speaker 2 (01:02:43):
He's got the Steelers.
Speaker 1 (01:02:45):
Next week, Fannin does the Steelers giving up the third
most Fantasy points two tight ends this year. So it's
a really good matchup for Harold fan And meanwhile brock Bauers,
who admittedly look brock Bowers went out and gave you
fourteen again the Texans, which I don't think anybody would
have anticipated. Bowers has the Giants next week, and weirdly,
(01:03:07):
the Giants have been kind of good against tight ends, like.
Speaker 4 (01:03:13):
All lining up right, he could have a dude Giants.
Speaker 1 (01:03:17):
Giving up the fewest points to the tight end position,
so like we could have a flip flopping of it.
Speaker 4 (01:03:26):
The one to watch, I think is Travis Kelsey because
he put up like one point one point or whatever
it was this past.
Speaker 2 (01:03:32):
He's got the Broncos this week.
Speaker 4 (01:03:36):
This is so like, what's your shade.
Speaker 2 (01:03:38):
Of blonde are? Is it?
Speaker 1 (01:03:41):
Like?
Speaker 3 (01:03:42):
Is it like a strawberry? I like the strawberry blonde?
Look the strawberry blonde. Is it fits the brand? So
we still we did.
Speaker 4 (01:03:52):
We saw your lovely wife recently and we we didn't
lose that that you said it was permanent die this
time too, and she was like, I don't know why
he keeps doing this to him.
Speaker 2 (01:04:02):
So yeah, credibility, baby, that's man, you.
Speaker 1 (01:04:09):
Are the tight and was like, here's like I'm waiting
for you, Like we should we suld actually build a
whole segment next year during the spring where you can
announce who is your tight end you're picked to click at.
Next year we'll do We'll get like a music sting
for it. Maybe we can have somebody make graphics or whatever.
We can make it a whole social clip that you
(01:04:30):
announce who your tight end is and then like we'll
see how quickly this this person rockets up a DP draft.
Speaker 4 (01:04:36):
Boards and stuff. I keep thinking to the first time
you have to like go talk to your kids teacher
or something like that, and it's just blonde with this guy.
It's a lot of explaining to be like, well, you know,
I do a podcast and I said that this player
would be top five, and then like they're just gonna
think you wanted to dye your hair blonde.
Speaker 3 (01:04:55):
Yeah, that's what it's starting to look like at this point.
But no, like seriously, even in February when I said it,
I was just literally just doing the deep dive on
the tight ends the prospects, and I'm looking at this guy.
I'm like, yo, he reminds me a ton of John
new Like his playing style, his ability out there catching
everything that we've seen this season, he has matched that
type of energy, and I'm like, oh crap.
Speaker 4 (01:05:17):
I did it again.
Speaker 3 (01:05:19):
Yeah, did it again, so hopefully there's no John new
type you know coming out of next year stratgy.
Speaker 1 (01:05:24):
Or or just don't threaten to dye your hair blondet.
Speaker 4 (01:05:29):
I didn't like change up the color because if it
would have been like orange or right. Actually, ser the
funny thing is one you do it me and Marcus
don't ask you to do it, like you just bring
it upon yourself. But also there's no there's no reward
for you because like you don't want to dye your
hair blonde, and there's nothing like well if it doesn't happen,
(01:05:52):
like it's just.
Speaker 3 (01:05:53):
Your It was one of those things that you know,
you know, our folks in Australia are international listeners.
Speaker 4 (01:05:58):
They were just hitting the DM like, bro, you got
to dye your hair, man, you gotta do it.
Speaker 3 (01:06:02):
Man, stick to your word, and like they were looking
forward to the next you know, tight end that they
should target and I kind of just put it in
like in February, thinking like, no, it's a rookie, it
won't happen, and it's the Browns. He ended up all
on top of that with David the joker.
Speaker 2 (01:06:15):
That's the wildest part.
Speaker 1 (01:06:16):
Like he didn't have a team when you said that, yeah,
it was just prospect.
Speaker 4 (01:06:21):
He didn't have a team yet. That's that's even crazier.
Speaker 1 (01:06:25):
We wait, so we wait, and then next week we'll
be back to talk about it.
Speaker 4 (01:06:29):
I think we you. The next video you make should
be like the Meadow Glasses of you shopping for hair dyte.
Speaker 1 (01:06:34):
Yes, ye, yep, TikTok. It's got to TikTok or something
for sure.
Speaker 4 (01:06:40):
So uh.

we'll have an update for you next week this time,
but of course we'll be with you, of course a
couple more times during the week, getting you ready for
your championships.
Speaker 4 (01:06:50):
But in the meantime for us.
Speaker 1 (01:06:52):

Football Podcast, The Happy, Safe and Healthy.
Speaker 2 (01:06:56):
