Speaker 1 (00:09):
The forty nine Ers have dealt with their share of
bad injury news lately, so how.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
About some good brock is back.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
We'll tell you what Purdy's return means for a banged
up San Francisco team that is three and zero does
not have much breathing room in the NFC West. The
Commanders will have to wait another week for the return
of their quarterback Jaydeon Daniels, and he's not.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
The only Pro Bowl player who.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Will miss Sunday's game against the Falcons. We will tell
you what comes next for Washington, their QB and Terry mcclaurin.
They're now just two days away from the NFL's maiden
voyage to Ireland. Not the first time that Vikings have
raided the island. That was in seven ninety five av
The Steelers can only hope, you know, it goes a
little better for them. Welcome inside with the Insiders, presented

(00:56):
by Progressive Insurance alongside Mike Garatfola. So I am Tom Pelissero.
Week four on the NFL calendar is underway. We'll get
into that pretty wacky Cardinals Seahawks game from last night
in just a little bit.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Here. We've also got a chock full Sunday.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Slate that begins bright and early in Ireland right here
on NFL Network with the Vikings and the Steelers. And
we've had some developments on the injury front that also
were going to impact Sunday's games.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
That's where we.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Begin with the forty nine Ers, who have QB one
back in business. Brock Purty missed the past two games,
had a left shoulder injury and more important, a toe
injury that had kept him off the field. But Mike
within the past couple of days, the tone kind of shifted.
Not a surprise today when Kyle Shanahan said, yes, indeed.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Brock Purty is good to go against the Jaguars. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
He was taking the reps as the number one quarterback
up during individual and team drills, So that was an
indication that early in the week they felt good about it.
He was listed as limited, but it was a slight
limitation and the understanding was that he was progressing through
practice feeling good enough to wind up being the starting
quarterback for this this week.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
That one now official and for.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
The forty nine Ers, fortunate because you've got Mac Jones
who is now listed as questionable for this game with
his knee issue. So it's like these quarterbacks are trading
injuries at just the right time right now, and the
forty nine ers now know they can rely upon mac
Jones to win some games for them, certainly for them
if they need him in spot duty. But this is

(02:29):
the forty nine ers, and that the means that the
injuries are not limited to like one or two guys.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
There's a long list of them, certainly a key position.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
So let's go down them here, because you've got two
wide receivers listed as questionable, Juwan Jennings and Ricky Pearson.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Now Pearsaul was limited the last couple of days.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Jennings returned to the field today, got one practice in
a limited capacity, so not great but not terrible. And
peersol has been spectacular so far for the forty nine
ers with Brandon Ayuk Lord knows when he's coming back,
John Lynch saying today that it's going to be quite
some time before he comes back.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
It's also gonna be some time before Nick Bosa comes back.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
He did have surgery that from every understanding went well.
I think Kyle Shannon even said that he was told
that it went well. So that's good for the long haults,
is not gonna help the forty nine ers in the
twenty twenty five seasons. So Nick Bosa on the road
to recovery and all of this is coming because it's
week four and week six is not here yet.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
What is week six means?

Speaker 3 (03:28):
That's when George Kittle can return, So he is still
out of action for the forty nine ers, So a
lot for them to overcome here in a game against
the Jaguars.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Somehow winning games, and.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
If they can win this one and stay on the
winning side, it's that much more impressive considering what they
were dealing with from an injury standpoint.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
All that against the backdrop of a very competitive NFC West,
which we saw the Seahawks advanced.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
The three and one last night. The Rams are hanging
there as well.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
The Cardinals lost two games on the last second field goals.
Here more on the Thursday night game in just a
little bit, but let's go to the NFC East, where
the Commanders once again are gonna be without their quarterback.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Jaden Daniels dealing with a knee spring.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
He was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday when
he wasn't out there at the start of practice today.
That made pretty clear this wasn't going in the right direction.
This is a medical decision. Daniels wants to play. They're
airing on the side of caution here. Certainly possibility open
that Daniels could be back as soon as week five.
For now, it's gonna be Marcus Mariota going up against

(04:26):
his old team again.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Mariota helped the.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
Commanders gonna win last week against the Raiders this Sunday,
now we'll go up against the Falcons who he started
for before being bench for Desmond Ritter and then leaving
the club, which didn't necessarily go over well based upon
the team's public stavens. Mariota played at a pretty high level,
but now he's got to do it this coming week
without Terry McLaurin, who suffered they're calling it a quad injury.

(04:50):
Is at the quad, the growing the core, the hip flexer.
He's undergone a bunch of different tests, he's seen specialists.
Dan Quinn said at this point, there Sarry McLaurin week
to week. Not sound like an injured reserve situation that
would take him off the field four to four games,
but no guarantee.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
McLaurin is even back next week.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Something big here, Mike, to keep an eye on for
Washington team when they went through Campadel McLaurin because he
was going through a contract situation.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
That offense had a lot of rough days.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
We are just what forty seven hours or not forties
and forty one hours away from Jackson Dart making his
debut for the New York Giants, named starter the other day,
the rookie first round pick that the team traded up
to get that Brian Dabo fell in love with during
the draft process. Now getting out there in not a

(05:38):
limited capacity like he's been for the first three weeks,
a full go, not just this week, before the.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Rest of the season.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
Jackson Dart now the guy charged with bringing some life
to this Giant season in this Giants offense. He did
that in the preseason, he did it in training camp,
he did it in practices during the regular season. Now
let's see him take it to the field while Russell Wilson,
you see right there, gonna serve as the number two
core with Jamis Winston remaining as the three. Not a
bad backup to have. But you know, Russ, and Russ

(06:07):
certainly said this week. He feels like he still got
some good football left. It won't be with the Giants.
I mean, this is something maybe we'll watch as we
get closer to the trading deadline or what not. So
Jackson Dark gonna be charged with finding Malik Neighbors. Yeah,
I would look for number one if I was out
there playing quarterback for the New York Giants. Neighbors not
on the injury report after being limited in practice, missed

(06:28):
a practice earlier the week as well with a shoulder injury.
He's had back, hip, shoulder. Milik Daghbors a pretty tough guy.
I remember talking to a Giants guy recently, Giants member
of the organization, who said, you guys don't give him
enough credit for how tough he is and what he
plays through, not just playing through it, but playing very
well through it.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
And another ailment here in the shoulder that he's gonna
play through.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
Tom.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
The Chiefs did enough offensively against the Giants on Sunday
night to win a game against oh future offensive performance.
They got Russell Wilson bench, but help is on the way.
Xavier Worthy off the injury and good to go, set
to play on Sunday in a huge game against the
fellow one to two Ravens for the first time since
taking that shot from Travis Kelcey back in the Week

(07:10):
one game in Brazil. Contrary to some of the things
that have been flowing around, there was not a setback.
This wasn't an injury that ended up being worse. But
you can see that harness that Worthy's worrying on his shoulder.
When you dislocate it or sublux it, I think can
pop in and out.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
You're dealing with a tear in there.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
It takes guys time sometimes to get use to wearing
that on the field. Obviously, Worthy has now gotten comfortable
he's good to go this week. The status of Rams
wide receiver Devonte Adams remains clouded, meanwhile officially listed as questionable,
though coach Sean McVay said he's optimistic about the direction
that it is headed with the Vonte Adams now.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Potentially could that.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Mean that he is limited in terms of snaps against
the Colts.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
Will find that out.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
It may dependent part on how DeVante Adams is feeling
again trending upwards, but officially Adams listed as questionable on
the injury report. I mean, while we got a doubleheader
on Monday night, including the Jets paying a visit to
the Dolphins. While nothing is official yet, it does seem
like Justin Fields is on track to play in that game.
Listen is a full participant in practice today for the

(08:13):
second consecutive day, still in the concussion proto call, but
once you get to practicing in full, you're on step
four of the five step return to play proto call.
Barney satback and pending the clearance by an independent neurologist.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
Again, it does appear the Fields.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
Is on track to return to the starting lineup on
Monday night. That is the last game or one of
the last games of Week four. Let's get to the
first game of Week four, and it was a dandy
Sam Darnold and the road winning Seahawks eight and one
of their last nine road games, going up against Kyler
Murray who has lost a whole lot of games, seven in.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
A row coming in to the Seahawks.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
This isn't going to help Marvin Harrison Junior, who has
been going through it. Bobbles that one turns a ball
that is right on the numbers into an interception for
Ernest Jones who returns all the way to the forty
nine yard line. Take another look. That is not the
Marvin Arison Jior you draft in the top ten. It's
not the guy we saw at Ohio State. Little plot twist.
He got things back on track. Other end of the field.

(09:11):
Seahawks late second quarter, Zach Charbonay. Look at the effort
by Charles Cross to push him right into the end zone.
Seahawks up fourteen to three at the half. Let's jump
ahead to the fourth quarter. Now, Kyler Murray going for
you guessed it, Marvin Arison Junior. If you watch his
reaction to this touchdown, this is a thank you to
the man upstairs.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
He needed this one.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
Play a lot better too. From that point forward in
the game, next Cardinals drive after a Seahawks missfield goal,
it's Kyler Murray too.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
I Murray de Mercado underneath seven yard touchdown.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
All of a sudden, the Cardinals team looks like they
were buried back into it. They tied up ensuing dynamic kickoff,
though this is less than dynamic. Chad Ryland. You got
to get the kick to the twenty yard line. It
comes up short of the landing zone. I mean Seattle
comes out to the forty yard and they only have
twenty eight seconds. This helps them get into field goal position,

(10:04):
ensuing Seahawks drive. Now Sam Darnold to Jackson Smith and
Jig But it was a quiet night at times for
JSN unless you were a refereeing with a hot mic.
Then a little bit louder that gets them into seattlefield
goal range right there, four second left, Jason Myers chance
for redemption knocks it through just barely. Seahawks win twenty

(10:27):
three to twenty. Devin Witherspoon joined our bridge at Condon
after the game.

Speaker 5 (10:31):
A lot of players I spoke with on your team
this week told me that they wanted to show the
world what you're capable of, saying they knew how good
this team was, but maybe not getting the national recognition.
What did you show out here that the Seattle Seahawks are.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
I mean, you got to play us for four quarters.
I mean we just put it on tape.

Speaker 6 (10:45):
I mean, I they other teams ron Lee know what's
going on, especially on the defensive side of fall defense
side of the ball.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
But we played team football over here. Man.

Speaker 6 (10:52):
We don't singing nobody out We just come out here,
play hard, play physical, and you feel me We just
come out and play four quarters.

Speaker 4 (10:57):
Together as a team. You know, we got to need
each other's.

Speaker 6 (10:59):
Bat so when it's time to step up, the other
side got each other.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
So that's how we do it.

Speaker 6 (11:02):
Over here.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
Welcome in our Omar Ruiz to the conversation. Here, Omar,
this is a really talented Seahawks defense.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
They play hard. They haven't had these guys.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
They haven't had Devin Witherspoon in their previous game against Pittsburgh.
Treek Wolland was kind of up and down in that game.
But you can see what they're building. You can feel
it with the way that for most of that game
last night, it was pretty dominant.

Speaker 7 (11:23):
Yeah, coming in and out of the lineup. You mentioned
at Chenna Nuosa missed the first game of the season.
He's been back for a couple of weeks. You saw
how good he was with a couple of sacks and
coming into the game last night, they were fourth in
the league and scoring defense are the only team in
the league to not allow a rushing touchdown. Players after
the game, Mike McDonald just talk about how together these

(11:43):
guys are, how well and coordinated they rush as a
defensive line. Is how Leonard Williams put it there. You
see them swarming, not allowing first downs, really coordinating that
attack on Kyler Murray, those six sacks. I mentioned Nuosu,
who missed twenty two games in the past couple of years.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
He's rounding in a form.

Speaker 7 (12:00):
Saying he still has to get in shape and still
had those two sacks. Leonard Williams a sack and a half,
and they're forcing Kyler Murray. You mention it when you're
doing the highlights. Tom how he was just weaving those
balls into tight windows. And it came up with the interceptions.
When Marvin Harrison bobbled the ball. It wasn't just that
Marvin Harrison bobbled the ball, but there were four other
Seahawks around the football to come up with the interception.

(12:23):
Ernnes Jones came up with an interception as well, and
they were doing that all night longing Now, Mike McDonald
said after the today, as a matter of fact, in
that fourth quarter, letting those two touchdown drives, and they
could have done a better job putting them in positions
to make plays in the fourth quarter. Operationally, they'll study
the process of getting in and out play by play

(12:44):
in the fourth quarter but it's a lot easier to
make to clean up those mistakes, Mike, when you're three
and one than the alternative.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
Yeah, two and two is the alternative. Which poor Cardinals.
I mean, they've lost two close games and they're alone
in the last place by themselves in the West.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
That's the margin.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
It's how thin it is between first place and last
place in that division. The good news for them is
at least they found a little bit of chemistry between
Kyler Murray and Marvin Harrison or early in the game.
I mean, it was hard to watch at times, particularly
with the ball that Harrison had in his hands lost
was picked off for an interception. You saw how relieved
he was to finally get into the airs of the

(13:23):
playoff talk about to finally get into the end zone.
I mean, this is a year plus conversation that we've
been having about the Cardinals, which how do you not
get the ball into this guy's hands. Well, they finally
did it, and they did it in some key moments,
So at least they've got something to build on there
for their offense. Next week, they've got the Titans. They've
got a game at home, should be a winnable game

(13:44):
to get you back on the plus side of five hundred.
There are some tough games coming up, and there's gonna
be tough games within this division.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
There's again not a lot of room for error.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
You're even fighting with the teams in your division for
the wild card spots that are gonna be there as well.
It's not just a matter of catching whoever is going
to be in first place. Arizona's got to take as
much positivity out of this game as possible into this
extended mini little buy that you get after a Thursday game.

Speaker 7 (14:08):
And I think just watching that game last night, we saw,
even though we knew it already, just how critical James
Connor has been to that offense, to that team, and
his absence was noticeable last night in that game versus
the Seahawks.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
The NFL is headed to Dublin, Ireland, where it'll be
the Steelers against a Vikings team that played better offensively
and defensively. Frankly, last week with Carson Wentz starting at quarterback.
You look at the number of points, the yards, everything
was better in a week where well, again things seemed
to go their direction in general. But for Carson Wentz,

(14:41):
this was the best game he had played statistically in
like four years. You got to go back to when
he was with the Colts to find the last time
that he had a comparable passer rating. This was a
really unique story for Carson Wentz, who grew up rooting
for the Vikings. Gets a win, but now maybe a
little bit different task going over and taking on Aaron

(15:01):
Rodgers and the Steelers. The last time that Aaron Rodgers
was in Europe and facing a Brian Flores defense, it
did not go well.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
That was last year with the Jets.

Speaker 1 (15:12):
He went twenty nine to fifty four through three interceptions.
It is, quite frankly, the worst game I've ever seen
Aaron Rodgers play. You saw the Jets sturing, you saw
the history onics, you saw two days later, Robert Sola
got fired and they swapped out the play caller and
made a bunch of other changes, and nothing got.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
Better for that Jets team.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
Aaron Rodgers hoping for a little bit different outcome, a
little different future just two days from right now, that's
all that's left, Vikings and Steelers, Bright and early nine
to thirty am Eastern time on Sunday, right here on
NFL Network.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
You know what has already been there all week. Are
Judy Batista in Dublin with the Steelers.

Speaker 8 (15:52):
The Pittsburgh Steelers arrived in Dublin earlier this morning. They
very quickly got on the field for a light practice
when they did the suggestion of equipment manager Adam Reagan,
they were wearing jerseys with Irish names on the name plate.

Speaker 9 (16:07):
Earlier this week, they got a bit of a.

Speaker 8 (16:08):
History lesson from team owner Art Rooney, who apparently has
been walking around.

Speaker 9 (16:12):
The facility carrying his hurling stick.

Speaker 8 (16:15):
He talked to the team about the Rooney's deep ties
to Ireland and the historical importance of Croke Park, where
they will play on Sunday.

Speaker 9 (16:24):
Cam Hayward called it sacred ground.

Speaker 8 (16:26):
While on Sunday they will take to that ground to
face the Minnesota Vikings.

Speaker 9 (16:31):
And one of the themes.

Speaker 8 (16:32):
Of this week for the Pittsburgh Steelers is to get
more plays. So far this season, the average drive length
for the Steelers is just five plays, so they want
to get off the field on defense on third down
and stay on the field on offense on third down.

Speaker 9 (16:48):
They feel that with more.

Speaker 8 (16:49):
Plays will come more opportunities to open up the deep
passing attack that they have not been able to get
going yet this season.

Speaker 9 (16:56):
We will see if they will be able.

Speaker 8 (16:58):
To do it this Sunday against one of the league's
best defenses.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
A battle of unbeaten Sunday in Tampa Eagles and Bucks.
There's a few injury questions on the Tampa report. Baker Mayfield,
officially listed as questionable, suffered a biceps injury last week,
kind of got his elbow hit of his knocker play,
stayed in the game, didn't take a ton of ups
th the course this week, but Todd Bowle said he
does expect Mayfield to play on Sunday. Even better news,

(17:28):
we could see the debut of not one, but two
Pro Bowl caliber players for the Bucks this season. Wide
receiver Chris Godwin and left tackle Tristan Wurfs both listed
as questionable, but Bulls said they too are trending towards
play and that would obviously be a huge lift and
wide receiver. Where the Bucks just lost Mike Evans, they
haven't had Jay McMillan, and for the offensive line that's

(17:51):
had all kinds of moving parts here, getting back one
of the best in the game would be huge, especially
when you're going up against some very huge men we've
got a little jump start on the flight to Tampa.
The Eagles already arriving early, extra time to acclimate to
that heat and humidity. If you know, twenty four extra
hours is capable of doing that. Elsewhere in the NFC East,

(18:13):
the Giants are at home this week taking on the Chargers,
and they got a new quarterback, Jackson Dart, the number
twenty five overall pick, set to make his first NFL
start on Sunday. Russell Wilson, demoted after a brutal offensive
performance last Sunday Night, is going to serve as the
number two quarterback.

Speaker 2 (18:32):
And somewhere I have to imagine.

Speaker 1 (18:33):
Jesse Mentor and the Chargers defense are licking their chops
for this one. Welcome back to the Insiders, presented by
a Progressive Insurance. I'm Tom Pelicero. That's Omar Ruiz Omar.
Let's get right to it. How do the Chargers attack
this Giants offense and that first time starting QB.

Speaker 7 (18:50):
Well, you said it, jesse Mentor saying they're not going
to overthink it. He said, as long as they bring
the right mentality to the field, they can play with anybody,
whether that's Patrick Mahomes, whether that's a rookie like Jackson
Dart making his first start. But he was asked because
this guising coverages is such a big part of that
Chargers defense and much of their success, if they're gonna

(19:10):
dial that up even more and mintor basically saying they're
just gonna play their game. They're gonna do what they
think is best to win this game against the New
York Giants. He said, they went back and they watch
a lot of film from Ole Miss Jackson Dart in college.
Didn't necessarily share that with the players. What they did
look at with the players with the seventy snaps that
he played in the preseason, they studied what he did well,

(19:31):
anticipating what they might do with him to make him
comfortable as he makes.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
His first start.

Speaker 7 (19:36):
They saw also what he maybe didn't do so well,
going to try to capitalize on that. But obviously the
Chargers know it's more than just Jackson Dart. Obbs contend
with Malik Neighbors downfield with Camp Scataboo and the physicality
that he brings in the run game. But the Chargers, yeah,
licking their chops to get out there and play the
New York Giants on Sunday should be an interesting matchup

(19:58):
with the darts debut.

Speaker 5 (19:59):
There.

Speaker 1 (19:59):
Tom points for Omar mentioning Cam Skataboo. We always love
that on this and every other NFL Network show. Omar,
thank you very much. We will talk to you again soon.
Quarterback news is not as good on the injury front
for the Washington Commanders, who will not have Jayde Daniels
for a second consecutive week. The Commanders officially ruling out
their quarterback today because that knee spraining that he suffered

(20:22):
a couple of weeks ago. Daniels had expressed that he
wanted to go. He was able to get out there
do limited practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but the doctors
did not clear him. Dan Quinn has made clear they're
not putting Jade Daniels out there until he can do everything.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
That time is not just yet. We'll see where he
is next week.

Speaker 1 (20:39):
Time now for good coverage presented by Progressive Insurance. The
Falcons offense has been well, let's call it up and
down so far this season, but that defense has been bawling.
They are allowing one hundred and thirty one passing yards
per game this season, the fewest in the NFL, and
they've continued that. With aj Terrell out last week, we

(21:00):
missed the end of the Week two game, also inactive
for Sunday's game against the Commanders. Take a look at
the Falcons defense across the board among the best in
the game. Total yards, passing yards, completion percentage, Versutly every
category is a big improvement from where there were a
year ago. Obvious team now that's trying to figure some
things out with Michael Pennix Junior and that offense moving forward. Meanwhile,

(21:22):
on Sunday night, we've got a Cowboys Packers matchup that
is sure to not disappoint.

Speaker 4 (21:30):
I bought to Dallas Cowboys with a handshake.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
Handsheck, Jerry Jones said that handshake deal with Michael Parsons.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
That's it.

Speaker 4 (21:37):
He'd be the highest guaranteed player on defense. And then
we were going to send it over to the agent.
The agent, so it was to stick it up.

Speaker 10 (21:48):
Same way did Jerry Jones take care of their family.

Speaker 4 (21:50):
It's the same way I didn't even take care of
my family.

Speaker 11 (21:52):
We've really got three years toward this thing.

Speaker 2 (21:54):
Half I did that with stat You, me and Mike
have talked.

Speaker 12 (21:58):
I don't have the full answer for it.

Speaker 10 (21:59):
I think gold mine would have been done a lot earlier.

Speaker 4 (22:01):
Than they were playing.

Speaker 6 (22:02):
His media game with Jerry is not fun, but I
do want Michael to get pay.

Speaker 1 (22:07):
Michael Parsons requested a trade away from the Cowboys.

Speaker 7 (22:11):
Jerry, are you considering trading Michael.

Speaker 9 (22:13):
Parsons negotiation tall That's where I put that.

Speaker 10 (22:17):
If they don't want me to hear they don't want
me here, well, if this is dead, this is dead.

Speaker 7 (22:22):
MICHAEH. Parsons to the Green Bay Packers forty seven million
dollars per year.

Speaker 4 (22:27):
They came quick, but that's the way things go.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
I think a lot of Michael don't want him to
have success when he play the Cowboys, and I do
want him to have under all success.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
Well, that was like three months of our lives boiled
down into uh about a minute right there. We lived
that whole thing, and now we get to live the
revenge game. Michael Parsons back in Dallas as a member
of the Green Bay Packers and that guy lick at
his lips, licking his chops and hoping that his team
can keep that guy and Parsons away from his guy,

(23:01):
Dak Prescott. Parsons said, it's gonna be painful if he
sacks Prescott.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
Here is dak on Plane.

Speaker 3 (23:07):
Parsons called you a mentor.

Speaker 5 (23:11):
He also said that it's gonna be painful secing you.
I don't know if that he meant for him or
for you.

Speaker 10 (23:15):
I hope it's not for me, and I hope he
doesn't get to me for one.

Speaker 4 (23:19):
So just talk about.

Speaker 10 (23:22):
Yeah, it'll be fun. It will definitely be fun. Yeah,
there's one me and my fiance just talking about the
other day and just just all the the reps of
practice going against Micah, you know, in times when he
couldn't hit me, whether him getting back there, just the
trash tug back and forth, me telling him, you know,
he wouldn't tackle me anyway, he still can't bring me down.
He got to get to that point. So just getting

(23:43):
to go out there and compete with a guy that
that's that's a good friend that you've that I've competed
with in numbers of ways throughout this building, outside of
this building. Yeah, just excited to go and have that
match up. But he's got five guys up front plus
tight ends and running back. Said he's got to get through,
So then we'll worry about if you can get to me.

Speaker 3 (24:03):
It's all fun games until that read no contact Jersey
comes off.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
Micah.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
If he spits in your direction, don't spit back. Okay,
we want to We want to see you play this game,
all right, James Slater. You live for stuff like this,
right when you cover the Cowboys like this. This is
the kind of injected right into my veins, James Slater.
Michael Parsons back in Dallas, go can't wait to hear this.

Speaker 13 (24:24):
I wish I could say that I'm numb to the
drama at.

Speaker 2 (24:27):
This point, Mike.

Speaker 13 (24:28):
But yes, for a lot of other folks that aren't
around this twenty four to seven, three sixty five, I
imagine that there is excitement about Micah Parsons coming back
to Dallas. I think it's going to be a little
split here in Dallas in terms of people are very
frustrated still with Jerry Jones for giving away one of
your best pass rushers that you've had in over a decade,

(24:49):
a generational talent, right before the season. They've got bigger
problems right now, namely the fact they don't have Ceede Lamb.
You know, George Pickens is expected to have an increased
role as a old He scored in Chicago's loss, but
tells me he wishes he had that ball back in
the forth. That one went right through his hands and
into Tremaine and Edmunds. And despite seeing him slam his
helmet in frustration, he says he doesn't ruminate on it

(25:11):
too long. And I joke, did you dt your helmet
at all? He says, Nah, it's pretty tough. He did
tell me that because this Packer's front seven already has
ten sacks through tee through three games. He tells me
they'll likely blitz. They'll send him back her tight front.
He says, route timing is going to be huge. Obviously,
You're also going to be using a guy like Cavante
Turpin who's known for his speed. But getting that ball

(25:34):
out of his hands, knowing that that pass rush is
going to be coming, and being familiar with Micah Parsons
game is going to be key here.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
Mike Jane just got to find Cherise Parsons, who Micah's mother,
who was wearing Cowboys gear a week one the opener
in Philadelphia. She had this like blue shirt with the
white sleeves. I can't imagine she's showing up in Cowboy
who knows?

Speaker 2 (25:57):
So find her. Hopefully she's got well jersey on.

Speaker 13 (26:01):
I love that you bring that up, Mike, because I
reached out to Micah and this week he said he
tried to get rid of his suite when he got traded.
He offered up to Kenny Clark. Kenney Clark didn't want it.
And then Trayvon Diggs told me that because he's besties
with Micah, a bunch of his family's going to be
in there. And so I said, is the rule going
to be no Green Bay gear? Is it all Cowboys gear?
Micah says Trayvon never tells me what he's doing.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
I don't know.

Speaker 13 (26:24):
I asked to get a camera in there, but he says,
there's some people who want their anonymity, So no camera
in there, but maybe we'll get a shot from Sunday
my football up into just go in there with the
with the glasses, with the mustache.

Speaker 3 (26:35):
You can find them in the prop store, Jane from
having the prop department an NFL network. All right, So
Trayvon Diggs, he was off the injury report from what
I saw this week, so he's expected to go this
secondary like beyond the Micah Parsons stuff.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
This secondary needs to cover people.

Speaker 13 (26:50):
Yeah, they're giving up nine hundred passing yards in just
three games. I mean, not exactly something you write home about. Now,
I will point out that Deron Bland is really here
in the secondary and they're getting him back. We rarely
have seen a Trayvon or Giron Gland on the field together, Mike,
because one of them is always hurt. Diggs, as you
had mentioned, was on the injury report this week. It

(27:13):
said you how to knee. He told me he had
a hamstring issue. It was tight, he said it was
loose in practice and he was full go. So he
is good to play. And he said the biggest problem
with this secondary right now is they've got to be
closer in their zones. In other words, they've got to
make sure they're closer to their man. He says, would
Deron Bland back there, the QB is going to be
a lot more cautious where he throws the ball. And

(27:34):
while Mattieberfluse took particular frustration with my boy Nick Harris
here one of the local beat writers. He asked him,
is Dearon gonna be playing in the nickel? He said,
I'm not going to give you the game plan, but
Trayvon made sure to tell me, you know, he can
play Nickel, So.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
There you go. There you go. Jane Slater is all
over it.

Speaker 3 (27:52):
Will have all of our coverage for this leading up
to kickoff on Sunday. Come on, Jane, they'll be numb
to it. Come on, feel it, Jane, feel it. This
is what it's all about.

Speaker 2 (28:01):
This is why you left on in weights. Jane Slater,
thank you very much.

Speaker 3 (28:05):
Just looking forward to everything you've got on this game
coming up on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (28:08):
Adam Rank is coming up with The Insiders.

Speaker 3 (28:10):
Cam Scantaboo. Is he a start or is he a sit?
Rank's got all his starts and his sits, And that's
the way I feel about it. I'm doing backflips in
the studio that's next to the Insiders.

Speaker 2 (28:26):
Welcome back to the Insiders.

Speaker 3 (28:27):
Presented by a Progressive Insurance. New this season, NFL Sunday

now joining us for some fantasy advice ahead of Week

(28:49):
four in the fantasy season. In the NFL season, we're
gonna do some starts and starts and sits with.

Speaker 2 (28:57):
Injuries, injuries or return from injuries. How do they affect
these guys.

Speaker 3 (29:01):
That's the theme here and the theme whenever on Rank
is here is is just awesome. So let's start with
can scataboo? Uh no, I'm sorry, we're starting with a
Marion Hampton. Wrong running back Omar and Hampton with Najie
Harris out for the season with that achilles injury, start.

Speaker 2 (29:16):
Or sit o'mar and Hampton.

Speaker 14 (29:18):
Yeah, we're gonna get a Marion Hampton into our lineups
now that without Naji Harris, there's gonna true there's gonna
be a true pathway to tow carries.

Speaker 2 (29:26):
In this offense. You look at what the Chargers want
to do.

Speaker 14 (29:29):
Now, it's interesting because the Chargers under under Jim Harbaugh
and Greg Roman, they've actually passed the ball with some
with quite proficiency. However, they're still going to go out
there and establish a run. And in a game against
the New York Giants where you expect them to go
out there and get a pretty big lead. The excuse me,
the game script should say that they're going to be

(29:50):
running the football. So Amri and Hampton is an absolute
must start this week.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
If you got them dialed up?

Speaker 3 (29:57):
Oh, I got them and I've been starting them and
I'm hopeful that the production will continue, actually go up.
I need a little bit of help here, Rank, We're
one and two. We gotta win. We gotta keep that moment.
I'm going Cam Skataboo not on my team, on the
Giants team after Tyrone Tracy's injury a dislocated shoulder. So
Cam Scataboo has already been taking the lion's share of

(30:19):
the reps for the Giants in the backfield.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
Now this is only going to help, right.

Speaker 14 (30:23):
Yeah, this has been one of those things last week,
going into that game, we were kind of a little apprehensive.
We're waiting to see what was going to be the
full rollout with cam Scataboo. With his role in this offense.
Week by week it had been continuing to build. But
now without having Tyrone Tracy there seeding some of the
carries away from him, now we're going to get a
full compliment of Cam Scataboo. Now, obviously you would want

(30:44):
a better matchup. The Chargers are one of the better
defenses in the NFL. But there is no way you're
gonna stop me from starting Cam Skataboo this week. I
do know that again, the efficiency might not be as great,
he might not get like eight yards per carry or
anything like that, but the touchdown potential always is there.
He is their goal line back. You got to make
sure the King's Kataboo is starting this week.

Speaker 3 (31:06):
No vulturing when he is the goal line back. So
that is a great sign right there. And Mecca Abuka
was filling in for Chris Godwin. Now Godwin's back and
Mike Evans is going to be out. Looking like about
three weeks or so for Evans, Abuka has been sensational.

Speaker 2 (31:20):
This has gotta be keep riding the rookie right absolutely.

Speaker 14 (31:24):
He's had at least twelve Fantasy points in every game
this season. It'll be interesting to see what happens with
the way that the coverages rolled towards him now obviously
being able to play alongside of Mike Evans. Mike Evans
still takes the lion's share of coverages and things of
that nature, but even with Chris Godwin out there, it
still should open things up for double out out on
the pitch, and so for me, I'm looking at this

(31:46):
as as a must start. However, depending on your options,
because I personally gz I got a team that has
Roma Dunza and Mika Abuka, so I'm going with Roma Dunza.
But in most cases I'm starting doubly. I think he's
going to be a really good option. I still think
that despite the fact that he's going up against the
Philadelphia Eagles, who've done a They've got a really good defense. However,

(32:09):
we have seen some receivers do pretty well against them,
including Devote Adams a week ago. So where the Eagles
have been shutting down the run, you could probably throw
on them.

Speaker 2 (32:17):
Now.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense, we came into the
season and we expected them to be more that they
expected themselves to be more explosive.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
Now it won't be.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
The full passing game until Rushie Rice is back in
Week six, but Xavier Worthy returns to the lineup that
should help things right well.

Speaker 14 (32:35):
Not only that, the matchup against the Baltimore Ravens is
pretty good. We saw last week what Detroit was able
to do both running and throwing the ball against his defense.
While it is still a big name defense. It is
a it's a headliner. You go to see them, but
you're like, hey, where are the rest of the members
of the band. This used to be one of the
greatest bands of all time. Now that get only got
the basis what is happening here? I feel pretty confident

(32:56):
in Patrick mahomes it with so many starting quarterbacks out
injured and ing Jaden Daniels and JJ McCarthy, there's no
way that you're going to be sitting Patrick Mahomes this week.

Speaker 3 (33:06):
We are always starting Adam Rank when it comes to
fantasy advice. Appreciate you stopping by on a Friday to
drop the nugs of wisdom on us. Have a great
week four in fantasy, Adam Rank, and in reality too.

Speaker 2 (33:19):
I wish you had nothing but the best in all
the realms.

Speaker 1 (33:22):
Last Sunday was a fun day for the Vikings defense,
and specifically Asaiah Rodgers did something nobody's ever done before,
a pick six, a fumble return for a touchdown, and
forcing a third turnover.

Speaker 2 (33:36):
Not bad for a guy that now.

Speaker 1 (33:37):
Plenty of people watching it probably not heard a whole
lot about prior to that game. They got the Steelers
up this week our Brian Baldinger's got a Baldy's breakdown.

Speaker 12 (33:46):
We wake up Sunday morning to watch the Steelers and
Vikings play in Dublin Iron Remember this about these two
teams from a year ago, they tied for the league
lead and takeaways with thirty three and oh, by the way,
last week in Week three, they both had five takeaways,
all right at the top of the leader war through
three weeks right now, And if you watch right here,
the Minnesota Vikings defense, they give you a lot of looks.

(34:08):
They disguise their coverages, but eventually they're going to rotate
here to a two deep five underneath floor zone coverage
right here, all right, two deep five hundred. At the
bottom is Isaiah Rodgers number two. He's in the curl
flat right here, and he's just reading the quarterback's eyes.
And when they try to check the ball down to
to Chase Brown, it's an aeron throw. He picks it

(34:29):
off and he would pick up a couple of blocks
and take it the distance for the Vikings second touchdown
last week to go up fourteen to nothing on the Bengals.
And then if you watch the defensive tackle Jalen Redman
right here. He does a great job here of taking
on the double team, keeping his inside arm free and
just punch the ball out of samajp rams pe Ryan's

(34:50):
hands right there, and Jonathan Allen, the defensive tackle would recover.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
All right.

Speaker 12 (34:55):
They are proficient and taking the ball away. But so
are the Steelers. Last week Dick Krbig, he started for
Alex Heismith at right outside linebacker.

Speaker 2 (35:03):
We watch Cam Hayward right here along with TJ.

Speaker 12 (35:06):
Watt, the three of them, because Hayward's gonna flush Drake
May right here.

Speaker 2 (35:09):
And when Drake May steps.

Speaker 12 (35:11):
Up, here comes Dick Krbig with this sack fumble right there,
and TJ. Watt gets on that led to the go
ahead touchdown of the Steelers a week ago. And if
you go back two weeks, you watch Jalen Ramsey right here.
The Seattle Seawks are running the stack route combination right here,
and Jalen Ramsey is cluing and looking back at Sam Darnold.
He sees he's going to the out right here, he

(35:33):
jumps right in front of it to take him the
ball away. So I think when we watch this game
on Sunday morning, the key Mabe might very well be
who takes the ball away more who wins that turnover battle?

Speaker 2 (35:44):
Great stuff, as always from Brian Balding.

Speaker 1 (35:46):
Here Baldis breakdowns only here on The Insiders, Only on
NFL Network, Vikings and Steelers nine to thirty am Eastern Time.
Grab your eggs, sausage, and a little bit of football
for breakfast start. Judy Batista's already in Dublin, caught up
with Steelers wide receiver Calvin austin the third. Y, Calvin,
I know you've been here in Dublin.

Speaker 9 (36:07):
How's it been so far? The first few hours off
the plane.

Speaker 4 (36:10):
It's been great.

Speaker 11 (36:11):
You know, it was been good to you know, get
outside and get to move and after the long flight,
I slept the whole way so so that that was nice.
But it's been cool to just see how warm we've
been welcome here and it's just been a great to
just get be back here.

Speaker 8 (36:30):
You know a little bit, I'm sure about the history
of the franchise and the Rooney family. What does it
mean to be a part of the team that's playing
the first regular season game here?

Speaker 11 (36:38):
Like you said, the history, you know, it definitely stands
out and is very you know, meaningful for why we're
here and just to be representing not only their family,
but this organization is something that's very cool and.

Speaker 4 (36:56):
It's just cool to be a part of history.

Speaker 8 (36:58):
We heard coach to talk about like take it easy physically,
but they need to locked in mentally. What's your plan
for the rest of the day, maybe recovery, rest, What
are you going to do some of all?

Speaker 11 (37:09):
You know, you know, some some recovery stuff for sure,
eat some food, spend time with the guys. My family
is here, so I'll go eat, eat with them for sure,
and you know, just kind of just be present, you know,
just enjoying where I'm at, just seeing the surroundings and stuff,
and just just taking it slow because you know, and
with opportunities like this, that's just what you kind of

(37:32):
want to do is just just just take it all in.

Speaker 4 (37:33):
And so I just want to take full advantage of it.

Speaker 8 (37:35):
All right, let me ask you a few questions about
the game. Uh, you guys are yack Kings right now,
the Pittsburgh Steelers. But what do you need to do
to get those big chunk plays down the field going?

Speaker 4 (37:46):
You know, just continue to be honed in on our
detailed and assignments.

Speaker 11 (37:52):
You know, when when we look back at film or
some of the missed opportunities, I would say it was
just come down to just like one little, one little
either misstep, alignment or just something very small. So just
continuing in the in the midst of the game to
be locked in and I think those big players will come.

Speaker 8 (38:09):
We keep hearing Aaron say like it's a work in progress.
It's a work in progress, it's still coming. Where do
you think this offense is right now?

Speaker 4 (38:17):
You know, I think we're right where we're supposed to be.

Speaker 11 (38:20):
Would we want to have, you know, more yards, more touchdowns,
of course, but I think even when we do get
to that point, we're still gonna want more and want
to be better.

Speaker 4 (38:28):
But I think we're right where we need to be.

Speaker 11 (38:31):
We're having the right conversations, we have the right people
in the room, and so like I said, it's just
a matter of taking what we do in meetings and
how we practice and just and just finally let it
in this show on the field, because like I said,
we got the right.

Speaker 4 (38:45):
Mix of everything, So it's just about just putting it
on display.

Speaker 9 (38:48):
Last one.

Speaker 8 (38:49):
How meaningful would it be for the Steelers to get
their first regular season victory here in Dublin.

Speaker 11 (38:55):
It'd be big for the Rooney family or organization.

Speaker 4 (39:00):
It'll be big.

Speaker 11 (39:01):
And then just for us to you know, get back
on check. Like you said, this is considered a home
game for us, so you always want to protect home.
And this may be not, you know, Pittsburgh home, but
it's kind of an extension of Pittsburgh. So anytime you're
at home, you definitely want to protect it. And so
that's what we came here to do.

Speaker 9 (39:21):
Calvin, Thanks, get some rest, Thank you well.

Speaker 4 (39:23):
I appreciate you.

Speaker 9 (39:23):
Abe.

Speaker 1 (39:25):
Another robust international slate began earlier this month in Brazil,
and the NFL is going back.

Speaker 2 (39:32):
We will tell you where the league is headed next.

Speaker 1 (39:36):
Right after this on The Insiders presented by Progressive Insurance,
Snooze Off game on Sunday morning football kicks off in Dublin,
presented by Madden. The NFL twenty six Justin Jefferson and
the Vikings against Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers Sunday n

(40:00):
m Eastern only on NFL Network and also streaming with
NFL Plus. Trip were required for NFL Plus Visit Plus,
not NFL dot Com for terms. Steelers fans travel everywhere
you knew they weren't going to pass up the opportunity
to go and waive the terrible towels over there in Dublin.
And while the NFL is also headed someplace new, at

(40:22):
least a new city. NFL announcing today a multi year
commitment to play a minimum of three regular season games
over five years in Rio dejan Aio, Brazil, beginning in
twenty twenty six, as the NFL prioritizes global expansion and
takes its international games to new cities around the world.
Next week, the Browns will head to London to take

(40:42):
on the Vikings, and we can only hope Miles Garrett
is miked up.

Speaker 2 (40:51):
Bro, I'd be him on the cleanest inside last season.

Speaker 4 (40:56):
Jun on Joo run.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
Yes, does hearing that when Miles Garrett is chasing make
it more or less scary?

Speaker 3 (41:07):
Mike, Yeah, it's called a lookout block lookout pretty scary.

Speaker 2 (41:14):
Great weekend, everybody say it.
