Speaker 1 (00:11):
Major changes in Miami Today after the dolphins ugly loss
to the Ravens drop them to two and seven, we
will break down what the exit of GM Chris Greer
could mean for coach Mike McDaniel's future and the team's
plans ahead of next week's trade deadline. Patrick Mahomes and
Josh Allen square off again on Sunday with a lot
(00:33):
at stake in the AFC playoff chase. Our Jeffrey Jedea
has the latest from Kansas City, including how the Chiefs
defense could try to contain Bill Starr James Cook. We
will also talk with Eagles cornerback Cooper dejen who's enjoying
the bye week with the two things he loves most
his hair and pizza. I'm sure we'll talk a little
(00:54):
bit of football too. Really, hair and pizza is.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
All you need.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Welcome inside with the Insiders alongside Judy Battista and Ian Rappaport.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
I am Tom Pelasero.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Happy Halloween to everybody out there, especially the moms and
dads currently chasing their kids in the dark with a
white claw on one hand and this show on NFL
Plus on their phone in the other.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Week nine is off and rolling.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
We will cover all the fallout from that game between
the Dolphins and Ravens momentarily, but as we look ahead
to Sunday, we once again have a lot of quarterback
news to get to today. Let's start out in Washington,
where Commander's quarterback Jaydeon Daniels is off the injury report
and will start Sunday against the Seahawks, have they're missing
(01:42):
one game because of a hamstring injury. As coach Dan
Quinn said today, Jaden will be back and we're pumped
about that. No, Terry McLaurin, he is out after aggravating
his quad, but clearly the return of Daniels a big
deal for a Commander's team that badly needs a win.
Currently sitting at three and five, Mac Jones will start
again for the forty nine Ers as Brock Purty continues
(02:03):
to make his way back from a toe injury. Party
officially listed as questionable again, but coach Kyle Shanahan says
Party has a chance to be available. Potentially, that could
mean that Party suits up in a back up role
bottom line, ian whatever happens this week, that certainly would
cast a positive light on Party's availability moving forward.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Potentially even as soon as next week as the starter.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
Yeah, finally heading in a positive direction for Rock Party.
For the Cincinnati Bengals, once again, it is up in
the air. Unbelievably, we're not talking about Joe Burrow. We're
not talking about Joe Flacco, who is listed as questionable
with an ac joint sprain in his right shoulder. There
is a little bit of optimism here because he was
able to practice the last couple of days, said he
(02:48):
responded well when he threw, and Flacca was saying essentially
he saw enough to think he's got a good chance
of playing, but also wants to see how his shoulder response.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
Officially questionable within.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
I towards Sunday with the Atlanta Falcons, this one is
much more positive. Michael Pennix Junior, dealing with a bone
bruise in his knee, is off the injury report, is
expected to play, which if you saw Kirk Cousins struggled
last week and you're a Falcons fan, this is a
very good signed. Drake London Judy off the injury port
as well, so all systems go once again for Atlanta.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
The status of Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray for Monday Night's
game is still very much up in the air. He
has missed the last two games with a foot injury.
Jonathan genn and the coach, said they are preparing for
him to play against Dallas, but Murray has been a
limited participant in practice this weekend. Today, local reporters who
were on the scene watching the early part of practice
noted that it was Jacoby Brissett who was working with
(03:45):
the starting receivers, Murray was working with the backups, so
some intrigue for the Monday night game and Kyler Murray's availability.
There is no such intrigue in Carolina. Though Bryce Young
is off the injury. A report good news he will
return from the ankle injury that cost him Week eight.
He will start against the Packers on Sunday, which is
really good news because in his backup Andy Dalton played
(04:07):
with a broken thumb last week. He, by the way,
is listed as questionable.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
Thursday night got ugly in many ways for the Dolphins,
and also was the final game for Chris Greer, as
the general manager met with Stephen Ross, the owner, this morning.
The sides agreed to mutually part ways. Greer had been
the GM in Miami since twenty sixteen. Dolphins were seventy
seven and eighty during his tenure, three playoff appearances, zero
(04:35):
playoff wins. Stephen Ross released a lengthy statement saying, in part,
as I assessed the state of the team and in
my discussions with Chris, who became clear to both of
us the change could not wait. We must improve in
twenty twenty five, twenty twenty six and beyond, and it
needs to start right now. Right now also happens to
be four days out from the trade deadline, with interim
(04:57):
general manager Champ Kelly now set to take over the process.
At this stage, ian that is significant in terms of
the move to be made right now. Chris Greer had
been getting calls on a lot of his big name players.
He had not wanted to deal at a time of
dolts to try to turn around the season. Certainly sounds
like already Miami is much more open to listening.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
Yeah, and that has to be part of the reason
why this is was made to move on from Chris Greer.
I've talked to several gms this afternoon after the news
came out. All of them said the same thing. He
never wanted to trade any of his guys. This season,
maybe cham Kelly will be far more open. They have
a couple edge rushers. Bradley Chubb is one of them.
Jalen Phillips is another who people want to get their
(05:40):
hands up.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
We'll see where cham Kelly goes here.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
But for Chris Career, I mean, it has been a
rough rough time for him, not only talking about how
his when he was general manager of the team never
won a playoff game, although certainly.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
That is part of it.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
Got all those assets from the Larry My Tunsel trade
did not turn that into very much. And even this
spring and summer, Judy when he tried to remake his
roster and you could just see these struggles there, I
mean the trade of Jalen Ramsey, acquiring Mina Fitzpatrick, bringing
Darren Waller out of retirement.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Signing Rasselle Douglas.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
Rarely do you see teams try to remake an entire
position in May and June. There just aren't that good
players available. It was just tough sledding for Chris Career.
Never felt like this year he had much of a chance,
and the fact that fifty four million dollars of to
his contracts next year is fully guaranteed just makes it
a brutal, brutal situation, something that people have talked to
(06:35):
around the NFL believe this had to happen for Miami.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
Right, and so much more needs to happen in Miami.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
They are due for.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
Really what is going to have to be a complete reset.
Keeping Mike McDaniel in place for now is fine. He's
also the offensive play caller. I'm not really sure there
would be any reason to get rid of him at
this point. But whether Steven Ross parts ways with Mike
McDaniel after this or allows the new GM to make
the decision, clearly they have a lot of big.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
Decisions to go.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
As you pointed out two US contract I mean, they're
sort of married to Tua for it at least another
season before they can realistically think of getting out of it.
And then they just have to reassess how they're going
to go about building this franchise because the last few
years with Chris Greer, they've sort of gone all in, right,
They've given up assets, they've gotten big name players, they've
(07:28):
handed out some big time contracts. It just hasn't worked.
They haven't gotten the results that they were hoping for.
No playoff wins, very sporadic playoff appearances. Chris Greer was
there for almost ten full years, and yes they had
three playoff appearances, but there was no consistency. And then,
of course they had the early spike in performance when
(07:50):
Mike McDaniel first started there the first two seasons, and
now that has tailed off. So a reset is coming
for the Miami Dolphins, and frankly, it's going to all
come down town Stephen Ross, who is obviously a fabulously
successful real estate developer, but has really struggled to land
the right people on the football side to lead his franchise.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
Mike McDaniel, we're told, will be the coach for at
least the remainder of this season. My understanding talking to
people today is what they want to see the second
half of the season is not just wins, but the
team continuing to play hard, continue to take steps in
the right direction. Do not discount the possibility here, in
part because as Ian mentioned, they owe to a fifty
four million dollars next year. You could have a scenario
(08:33):
where they keep Mike McDaniel. Guys Stephen Ross likes a
lot and respects as a coach on for one more
season with a new regime around him, give the GM
time to evaluate it on the job before potentially making
other changes into twenty twenty seven. As for how it
ended for the Chris Career era in Miami, well, it
(08:53):
ended with bags on fans heads and booze because that man.
Lamar Jackson came back after missing three games with a
mstring injury and was doing Lamar things again. Early going,
rolls right, hits Mark Andrews for two yard touchdown, makes
it seven to three in the early going. Later on
in the first quarter, Lamar stepping up in the pocket
this time slides out Jalen Phillips had him instead. He
(09:16):
finds Isaiah likely it was one of those nights for Miami.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
Take another look here.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
Lamar didn't do a lot of running, but you can
see the mobility right here. If that hamstring's hurting him,
he's not showing it. Two plays later, second quarter, now,
Lamar to Mark Andrews once again. Congratulations. If you listen
to Michael f. Florio on our fantasy segment yesterday, it
had Mark Anders in your lineup. He absolutely delivered. Ravens
extended lead to fourteen to three. Now late in the
(09:41):
second quarter, about a minute to play, Dolphins trailing in
fourteen to six. They'd kicked a couple of field goals,
they missed another. They go for it on fourth and two,
and they do this a fade to divion eight Chan
against All Pro safety Kyle Hamilton. Sounds like eight Chan
might have just lost the ball in the lights. It
was not a great moment for the Dolphins in second half.
Get the ball back first because Miami had decided to
(10:03):
take the ball to start the game. There's that's not
Mark Anders that time, is Charlie Kohlar. How many tight
ends does this guy have?
Speaker 2 (10:10):
Next?
Speaker 1 (10:10):
Ravens drive Lamar for good. Hey, I'm aout a wide receiver.
It's Rashan Bateman. That's gonna make it twenty eight to six,
the second straight win for Baltimore. A big return for Lamar.
Jay Flowers got a piece of the action as well.
Speaker 5 (10:22):
Hey, were talking for the game.
Speaker 6 (10:23):
You talked about your emotions playing here at home for
the first time so high school.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
What did it feel like in the game and to
win this way?
Speaker 6 (10:30):
Hey, I've been waiting to play here for a minute.
I ain't getting to play for the Kings. I ain't
gonna play here. So I'm I'm at least glad I
got to come and play in my hometown one time
and be able to do something in my whole family
see me so especially in.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
The win this way.
Speaker 6 (10:43):
I know it's been a rough year, but to do
it this way here?
Speaker 2 (10:47):
What does that mean?
Speaker 7 (10:48):
Man?
Speaker 6 (10:49):
Like I said, Man we jay Gane started, Man we
ja Gane started, We sure hit a little We should
go on the run right now. And everybody's feeling good.
We got everybody back, so it's just start a little run.
Speaker 7 (10:58):
You talk about healthier quarterback?
Speaker 8 (10:59):
Look healthy out there for it's us downs. What'd you see?
Speaker 7 (11:02):
Hey?
Speaker 5 (11:02):
What'd you see?
Speaker 2 (11:03):
Look like Lamarvelius?
Speaker 6 (11:05):
You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 7 (11:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (11:07):
Yeah, man, we got them back. Is it good to
see him out there running, throwing the ball again? So
it's great.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
Say Flowers always lights up the TV screen when we
see his faceos our next guest here, Stacey Dale's are
good friend, Stacy. This is the Ravens team that we've
seen in the past. Lamar healthy issue, if not entirely
one hundred percent, He's making things happen.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
How big is that?
Speaker 1 (11:29):
As the Ravens trying to make the type of run
it's going to take for them to get back into
the playoffs.
Speaker 9 (11:35):
Tom it's huge.
Speaker 10 (11:36):
Don't take it for me, Take it from Zay Flowers.
Great interview there by Cam Wolfe. They're about to go
on a run now. They've got the Vikings, the Browns,
the Jets, and the Bengals in their next four.
Speaker 9 (11:46):
They're three and five at this stage. They've won two
in a row. They snuck one.
Speaker 10 (11:51):
With Tyler Huntley at quarterback a game that I was
at against Chicago last week, and I will just say this,
Lamar Jackson told us last night.
Speaker 9 (12:00):
It's great to be back. Lamar.
Speaker 10 (12:02):
It's great to have you back, and you're one forty
three passer rating and your four passing touchdowns. Football needs
Lamar Jackson just as much as the Baltimore Ravens do.
He was spectacular last night. He talked about some of
the rust after the game that he felt and maybe
didn't use those legs as much as we're accustomed to.
(12:22):
But John Harbaugh said a key to the entire game
maybe was his thirteen yard scramble to kick things off
in the second half, and we saw just flashes.
Speaker 9 (12:32):
Of brilliance from this guy.
Speaker 10 (12:34):
I'll tell you this, Tom, going into that Chicago game,
he was actually close to playing. He actually took starting
reps that week, so he had those starting reps and
then he had a short week here heading into Thursday
night football.
Speaker 9 (12:47):
But this was must win territory.
Speaker 10 (12:49):
John Harbaugh, that had coach said it in terms of
the fact that they had two must win games in
the course of five days, and Lamar Jackson and this team,
I just see the trajectory going up, Tom, Because also
you have to keep in mind their defense is finally
getting healthy. In their last two games. They've given up
just thirteen points per game. They have five takeaways, three
takeaways last night, and a healthy Lamar Jackson. Not to mention,
(13:13):
Derrick Henry was over one hundred on the ground last night.
It was a thing of beauty for the Baltimore Ravens.
And I mentioned this remaining schedule Vikings, Browns, Jets, Bengals.
Think about that and where their record could lie after
the next four games. Looks pretty promising for the Baltimore Ravens.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
Welcome back to the Insiders presented by Progressive Insurance. Very
good news for the Los Angeles Rams. Receiver Pooka Nakua
said he feels fantastic. He proclaimed himself ready to go
against the Saints this weekend. He spraind his left ankle
in week six. It looked really bad when it happened,
but he practiced fully on Thursdays off the injury report. Today,
all systems go for Puka Nikua. Similarly, Raiders tight end
(13:55):
brock Bauer says he is ready to roll on Sunday.
I love these guys giving their own status against the Jaguars.
He has missed three games with a knee injury. He
suffered it in week one. Originally he kept playing in
weeks two through four, his production was way down. Finally
they shut him down. Now it appears that he is
ready to go at full speed. And finally, more good
news on the injury front for the Falcons. Michael Pennix's
(14:18):
returning as we told you earlier, and so is Drake
London expected to play Sunday versus the Patriots. He missed
last week against the Dolphins with a hip injury, So
the Falcons are finally getting much healthier. Let's turn our
attention to I think it's the game of the week.
It's usually one of the games of the year. Buffalo
Bills versus the Kansas City Chiefs. Look at this split
(14:40):
of how the Bills do against the Chiefs in the
regular season versus in the playoffs. Since the twenty twenty season,
they're a perfect four and hero in the regular season.
I can remember being at the game in Buffalo last
year and Josh Allen basically said, yeah, it's great to win.
Doesn't really mean anything until we beat them in the playoffs.
And as you see, they have yet to beat them
in the playof here's our Jeffrey Chidia, let's break this
(15:02):
game down. All right, Mahomes versus Allen, two league MVPs.
What do we expect from this game?
Speaker 7 (15:09):
Well, you expect.
Speaker 8 (15:10):
Greatness again, Judy, and these two always bring their best
when they play against each other.
Speaker 7 (15:14):
They're great friends, they're great competitors.
Speaker 8 (15:16):
They understand they have to be on top of their
game when they go against each other's teams. And Mahomes
said he's a huge fan of Josh Allen, who and
the way he played with his legs. He said, if
you have one quality, Josh Allen has its ability to
be that big and be able to make those kinds
of plays on the run, throwing the ball from the sidelines,
clinging it down the field, and the Chiefs realize that's
(15:37):
the biggest thing with Josh Allen's keeping him from getting
off script and improvising. You saw the way he won
the game last year in the regular season with a
huge run. If they can't stop him from getting outside
we contained and making those big plays, It's going to
be a long, long game for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
All Right, The Bill's running back James Cook is coming
off a huge performance last week. Chiefs defense has been
excellent so far this season. How did they contain him?
Speaker 8 (16:03):
Well, that's their other big concern because they realize that
James Cook is as a monster, and Steve Spagnolo has
described him as probably one of the premieer backs that
they're going to see this year. And they've seen a
lot of guys like say Kwon Barkley and Derek Henry,
but this guy, his ability to make jump cunts and
explode and accelerate and get outside and get to the edge.
Bagniolo'sa that's a big, big concern for them and their
(16:27):
office of created the Buffles offend, Joe Brady talked about
just how well the Bill has been blocking downfield. He's
very proud of the effort the receivers make in the
run game, because when you see a player like James
could get a couple hundred yards against the Carolina running defense,
that's really good. That's a testament to their run game.
And so they're going to try to run a football
in this game. There were a few teams in the
league that runs it more than they throw it. So James,
(16:48):
because a big part of what's going to happen on Sunday, this.
Speaker 4 (16:51):
Feels very much like all of those Patriots versus Cults
games back in the day, an annual meeting that everybody
looks forward to and probably determines an off a lot
about playoff seating. Jeffrey, thank you very much. When we return,
we're actually going to talk about another great running back end,
by the way, the AFC's top team. That's Jonathan Taylor,
(17:12):
the Indianapolis Colts. Our Stacy Dales will return to talk
about them when we return to The Insiders presented by
Progressive Insurance.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
This Sunday, November second, you can get NFL Red Zone
from NFL Network for free. That's right, See every touchdown
from every game this Sunday afternoon for free go to
navel dot com Slash Red Zone free preview and check
your local provider for details.
Speaker 2 (17:45):
Did I mention free?
Speaker 1 (17:47):
Travis Hunter, the Jaguars two way player, was placed on
injured reserve today, out at least four games with what
sounds like a potentially serious injury. My understanding of the
team is still doing evaluation after Hunter injured the knee
in practice on Thursday. May not know exactly what the
prognosis is until early next week. We will not be
(18:08):
seeing Hunter at receiver or cornerback for some time. Better
news for Jacksonville, Brian Thomas Junior has no injury designation
and will play on Sunday against the Raiders. Jags coming
off the buy, Liam Cohen said Thomas truly practiced the
best that he's seen him practice this week.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
That is a good sign.
Speaker 1 (18:28):
One of the breakout rookie stars of a year ago
has had a rocky start to twenty twenty five. If
they can get him going, that would certainly help make
up for the loss of Hunter. Calvin Ridley out once
again for the Titans because of the hamstring injury that
has now sidelined him for several weeks, still dealing with
that injury. Another player who, like many on the Titans,
(18:50):
are a potential subject of trade talks. Nothing imminent on
that front, one of many names that could draw interest
as the deadline approaches on Tuesday.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
And all right, So on one hand, you have this
this really good offense, The Colts offense, if I've been
paying attention, is balling. You have Daniel Jones with a
career resurt shift. Jonathan Taylor has been one of the
best running backs in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
You have the Slue receivers.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
These guys are getting it done and have become a juggernaut. Okay,
So on the other side, you have the Pittsburgh Steelers
and they have let's just say not but as good,
especially on defense. Welcome in Stacy Dale's thank you for
hanging out with us on the Insiders with a very
very clear go Jays sim We'll get to that in
(19:36):
a second, a long with our good friend Judy Bautista.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
So Dall's I want to start with you.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
I'm going to start with essentially what that graphic was
just showing there, which is the Colts are really good.
The Steelers defense hasn't been as good. How in the world.
Is Pittsburgh gonna stop?
Speaker 10 (19:52):
That's a great question, Tom and Judy, because right now,
this Pittsburgh defense ranks thirtieth in the National Football League.
The're giving three hundred and eighty six total yards of
offense per game, while the Colts are averaging three hundred
and eighty five total yards of offense per game. And
as you guys just alluded to on the full screen,
I mean, thirty four points per game.
Speaker 9 (20:13):
They are dynamic and they are just so darned well rounded.
Speaker 10 (20:16):
I was just on the phone with Pittsburgh defensive lineman
Cam Haywood word and he told me, if you don't
get up for this game, like seriously, you got to get.
Speaker 9 (20:25):
Excited for opportunities like this.
Speaker 10 (20:27):
Because that guy on the screen right there, Jonathan Taylor,
he has been unreal the AFC Player of the Month
for a very good reason.
Speaker 9 (20:36):
In October.
Speaker 10 (20:37):
He leads the NFL with eight hundred and fifty rushing yards.
He leads the league with twelve rushing touchdowns. Guys, they
still have nine games to go. He's also number one
with scrimmage yards. He's number one with scrimmage touchdowns with
fourteen of them. And that is going to be the
focal point for this Pittsburgh defense. Guys, but if you
look at also the quarterback right, Daniel Jones, the work
(20:58):
that he has put in. I spoke was Enter Tanner
Bordolini on the phone this weekend. He said, when you
watch Daniel Jones work, he told me he sits behind Actually,
Shane Steichen and Daniel Jones when they fly, when they travel,
and they're always together.
Speaker 9 (21:12):
They're locked at the hip.
Speaker 10 (21:13):
They're constantly on a four hour flight to Los Angeles.
They are going through that game plan, going through scheme,
and it's been a wonderful marriage for the two. So
with the way Daniel Jones is playing through the air,
they are just so well rounded when it comes to
running the football. With Taylor and all those skilled players
on the outside, this is a dynamic group that is
(21:34):
going to look for another win. They're seven to one
headed to Pittsburgh.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
First of all, Stacy go don mattingly want him to
finally get.
Speaker 9 (21:42):
A World Series.
Speaker 4 (21:43):
But let's turn our attention to the Vikings and Lions game,
because certainly the headline is JJ McCarthy finally returning to
the field. They're going to need an awful lot of
points against that Lion's offense. Though, what do you see
happening in this game?
Speaker 10 (21:59):
Yeah, Judy, another dynamic offense with Jared goffin company, and
they're coming off the by so they're well rested. Part
of that, you know, bye week was just to tinker
with things. What do they need to do better offensively?
What do they need to adjust? If you're John Morton,
the offensive coordinator. Listen, they've won five in a row
against the Minnesota Vikings. This is a tough week for
mister McCarthy to return from that ankle injury. He's missed
(22:21):
some significant time. You guys know what this environment is
like in Detroit. Dan Campbell said this week, and I
love this statement. We don't talk about expectations in Detroit.
We talk about standards. There's a standard of excellence now
with this team, and they are They're not even playing
their best football, but they're getting better week to week.
Speaker 9 (22:39):
It all starts with Jared Goff. That man right there.
Speaker 10 (22:42):
How about guys, he's on pace to Oh he's got
a seventy five percent completion rate right now, a one
to sixteen passer rating.
Speaker 9 (22:49):
If those stand those.
Speaker 10 (22:50):
Will be career highs for him because last year he
set the bar at a seventy two completion rate and
a one to twelve passer rating. By the way, nobody
has twenty wins and four losses, with the exception of
Jared Goff, it's the best rate show since twenty twenty four.
Speaker 9 (23:07):
That would be last season.
Speaker 10 (23:08):
And really, when it comes down to is Deia Campbell
talked about facing Brian Flores. Remember they've won the last
five against the Minnesota Vikings. Detroit has It's all about
the pressure up front. They have the second highest blitz
rate the Vikings do in the NFL this season, and
the multiplicity on the back end. But Jared Goff, guys,
over those last five games, he's got like a seventy
six completion percentage against the Minnesota Vikings.
Speaker 9 (23:31):
He has fared very well against them. Ian and Judy
and Joe.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
Jays Man a couple of fun ones, A couple of
fun ones this week, and I'm not so sure about
go jays But everything else you said, I agree with Dall's.
Thank you very much for asking out with us. Cannot
wait for the games this week of time Man and
leasy Yankee who cares about the Yankees? Yankee suck anyway.
You know who doesn't suck? These guys right here, Jordan
Love and the Green Bay Pacrasy. They played the Dealers
and they were on fire. We saw maybe the best
(23:57):
game I think that we've seen from Jordan in this electric,
versatile Packers offense.
Speaker 2 (24:02):
So we've seen in sometime.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
There's no one I would rather have break this down
than Brian Ballninger. So here is our baldy breakdown on
these studs right here, boy.
Speaker 11 (24:12):
The Greenbay Packers host the Carolina Panthers at lambeau Field
on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
They bring a three game win streak in an offense.
Speaker 11 (24:19):
That's very well designed by Matt Lafleur an offensive coordinator
Adam Stenovich, and it really starts with the run gate
and some of the things they do week in week out.
Speaker 7 (24:29):
Have they tweaked the run game?
Speaker 2 (24:30):
So like against Pittsburgh, here here comes.
Speaker 11 (24:32):
Tight in Tucker Craft in motion man coverage and they're
going to run a stack offensive play situation where they
could throw the flat route to Tucker Craft or hand
it off to Josh Jacobs, and it takes the Steelers
out of the box right here.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
Four guys out of the box, and you get a
nice game on first down.
Speaker 11 (24:49):
If you watch this from the end going angle, here
comes Tucker Kraft and Patrick Queen or the Steelers will
go out with them. Now inside the offensive line puts
a hat on a hat and Josh Jacobs has a
nice lane to cut back into for a very positive game.
Speaker 5 (25:04):
A little tweet changes week in week out.
Speaker 11 (25:06):
Now they will go under center, play action pass max protection.
Get the linebackers step up to stop Josh Jacobs, and
they'll run a post dig SPEEDO route accombination behind it.
And here Jordan Love gets an explosive play to Christian
Watson here for a big chop. All right, they believe
and get those chunk plays that lead to scores.
Speaker 5 (25:26):
Now they do something I think that is cool.
Speaker 11 (25:28):
They create space by formations and personnel groupings Pittsburgh's and
man coverage right here, and Tucker Craft is going to
take the safety Toshaun.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
Elliott to deep water and then come out a little bit.
Speaker 11 (25:40):
All this space that Jordan Love has to throw his
vault to nobody else out there, nobody, no.
Speaker 5 (25:45):
Fear right here.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
Throw to a spot. Let Tucker Craft adjust to it.
Speaker 11 (25:49):
And as the league is finding out, he's very difficult
to get to the ground once he starts rambling and
rumbling with the ball. But I'll give you another example,
Like on this play, Watson comes in motion, the two
receivers at the bottom are going to clear out, and
then up at the top, Tucker Craft is going to
run this little angle route and he's gonna have the
whole middle of the field of work. We call this a
(26:10):
Texas route, and so Jordan Love puts it on him,
perfect instride. As we find out right, he's got six
touchdown catches. He's good after the catch. But those are
just a couple of plays that are well designed. They
execute him, they take advantage of predicted coverages, and the
Carolina Panthers will have their hands full with his Packers'
(26:31):
offense On Sunday.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
The season's heating up, but prices are cooling down. NFL

Terms and embargoes apply time now to go inside with
NFL Fantasy Live and our guy Adam Rank, who is
joining us tonight from his normal Friday night training session. Rank,
(26:57):
let's talk fantasy injury impact, including no Isaiah Pacheco.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
He's gotten an MCL spring. What impact does that have
on let's say for Shard Smith.
Speaker 12 (27:08):
Well, this could be a really big opportunity for Smith
this week against the Buffalo Bills, a team that has
given up a lot of production on the ground to
opposing running backs. Now, a couple of weeks ago, on
this very show, we talked about picking up for Shard
Smith as a stash because he was starting to get
a little bit more runned in this offense. And now
with Isaiah pachekol out, he's going to.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
Get a real opportunity.
Speaker 12 (27:30):
We've seen Kareem Hunt go out there and score a
touch couple of touchdowns, but he's mainly reserved as a
goal line back. There is a real chance that for
Shard Smith goes out there has a breakout game against
the Buffalo Bills, and you'll be able to thank us later.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
So Rank, let's just say I'll use the hypothetical here.
Let's say you're a fantasy owner who may or may
not have grabbed Tyrone Tracy on waivers.
Speaker 2 (27:52):
Your team is two.
Speaker 3 (27:52):
And five, terrible need a little bounce of just points
and explosion from the offense. Plus Cam skattabu out, what
do you see from my someone's player, Tyrone Tracy?
Speaker 4 (28:04):
Right?
Speaker 12 (28:04):
Right, of course, you're just asking for a friend. Tyrone
Tracy showed last season that when he's given an opportunity
to be the focus of the running attack, he can
go out there and do it, and we've.
Speaker 2 (28:16):
Seen evidence of that. Now, he had just taken a backseat.
Speaker 12 (28:19):
Becam Scataboo, But now that he's getting a second chance
against the San Francisco forty nine Ers, I expect him
to make the most of it. The forty nine Ers
have been really vulnerable to fantasy running backs over the
last couple of weeks. This happened before Fred Warner went
down with his season ending injury.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
They had already been pretty vulnerable, but ever since.
Speaker 12 (28:35):
Fred Warner has gone down, it's gotten even exasperated. So yes,
Tyrone Tracy is going to be an excellent start this week.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
Jade Daniels is back for the Commanders, but Terry mcclaurin
once again is out after aggravating that quad. What impact
does that have on daniels fantasy production rank?
Speaker 7 (28:52):
Well?
Speaker 12 (28:53):
I think that you're still going to end up starting
him because I have Jade Daniels in a number of leagues,
and I went looking at the streaming options and the
streaming options where guys like Tula Tungkabailoa, Kyler Murray, and
I'm like, Okay, I'm gonna.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
Go with Jayden Daniels.
Speaker 12 (29:05):
The one thing that we have seen when he's come
back after his injuries is he doesn't get as many
designed runs, but still not afraid to use his legs
to take an opportunity. So instead of going out there
and getting eighty rushing yards, he's getting around forty. I
would like him to see get him, get Deebo Samuel
involved a little bit more in the offense. We didn't
see it last week, kind of hoping that Marcus Mariota
(29:26):
had taken advantage of it. But I think Debo could
also have a nice game this week as well. Jacory
krossky Merit is the one who worries me. Seattle's been
a very good run defense, so this might be a
chance for McNichols to go out there and get some run.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
Because as a receiver out of the backfield, I'm.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
Actually playing tarrow and Tracy over Bill on Sunday, which
really bolsters my opinion of me being a great fantasy
here and all right.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
You're doing good.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
Mike Garafos the only one of us who has kids,
so he is off for Halloween.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
I'm gonna ask a question for him.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
Okay, he has trave Henderson right Rimandre Stevenson doing with
a toe bruise, he is out. What do you see
for Travion and the Patriots this Sunday? Well, everything says
that you should start Trevion Henderson. He's going to get
the majority of the opportunities.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
But this is the.
Speaker 12 (30:14):
New England Patriots and they do things differently. You can
never tell what they're going to do. The science says
start them. You just never know. But I'm going to
go for the opportunity play. I'm going to be starting
Treveon Henderson. As a matter of fact, I've got a
league right now. I just set the lineup. My two
running backs are Traveon Henderson and Kyle Manung Guy. Just
as we drew it up back in August, although we
(30:36):
did talk about it.
Speaker 2 (30:37):
We did talk about Kyle Mnung Guy in August.
Speaker 12 (30:39):
As somebody did Stash and now we're understanding why we
do stuff like that we did. Mike Garafolo was asking
me how to pronounce his name, and I'm like, it's
monong guy, and then we went off and we're running.
Speaker 7 (30:48):
There. You go.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
Done now for good coverage presented my Progressive Insurance. Eagles
defensive back Cooper dejen has six passes defended in twenty
twenty five. That is tied for fifth among slot quarterbacks.
Degene also leaves the league in embarrassing our friend Mike
Garafollo with all that hair defense.
Speaker 5 (31:06):
Way to fly around, man.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
We did a great job of protecting the football, no
turnovers either way right there.
Speaker 5 (31:16):
But we were coming to affort on defense, all right,
we'll get them. Hey. I don't know about you guys,
but offensively, that's my all time favorite way to win
right there, when you take it, when you're able to
rush for two hundred and seventy seven yards, two hundred
and seventy seven yards, we had two hundred yard backs.
Speaker 13 (31:54):
Ali ringing that bell right there in that victorious locker room. Now,
Cooper Dejeen, he goes cornerback, joining us here on the insiders.
Speaker 2 (32:02):
Uh, he is here on behalf of Casey's pizza.
Speaker 13 (32:06):
Tell us about Casey's Pizza, because I got a jumping
off point from from pizza here.
Speaker 7 (32:11):
Casey's Pizza. It's something I grew up on. A little sausage,
egg and cheese breakfast pizza every single morning, gets you,
gets you ready to go. It's it's a big thing
here in the Midwest. You know something, mind, I grew
up going and grabbing, grabbing before before high school, every
(32:32):
single day, stopping in there, grabbing a slice of breakfast pizza.
You know, my parents when they when they were tailgating
at Iowa games, they would they would always grab grab
a box of breakfast pizza before the thoroughly kickoffs to
to get them ready to go. You can't can't really
go wrong with with breakfast pizza. I know it's not
a big thing, but if you haven't tried it, you should.
Speaker 13 (32:57):
Yeah, I'd like to not available here on the East Coast.
It's a Midwest chain, but perhaps expanding now the Cooper
Degen is telling the legions about it. I mentioned my
pizza jumping off point. Big dom de Sandro, your buddy
with the Eagles. The I don't even like mention his
title because it's so much more than what he actually
he does so much more than with a title indicates
(33:17):
brought pizza to Camps Kataboo in the locker.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
Room the other day.
Speaker 13 (33:20):
I know you and Big Dahmer are are tight in
the hospital. He brought it to Camp Scataboy after his surgery.
Speaker 2 (33:26):
Well what do you think of that?
Speaker 13 (33:28):
I mean, because a lot of people were really touched
that he would do that for an opposing player.
Speaker 7 (33:32):
Yeah, I think I think it's just really cool, you know,
And it doesn't it doesn't surprise me either. You know,
Big Dom's he's one of the best human beings. You know,
I've I've ever been around anything you need. He's the
guy you go to. Funny guy, really funny guy. He's
a good guy just to sit down and talk to.
Whenever you need to talk, you need some you call,
(33:54):
you call Big Dom. But that's that's pretty cool that
that he did that, you know, for for Cam obviously,
it's it sucks, you know what happened. The injury. You know,
that's probably the worst part about football is the injuries.
You know, But hopefully it makes a speedy recovery and
he gets back here soon. Yeah.
Speaker 13 (34:16):
Division rivalries inside the lines, outside the lines, everybody working
together and on the same page, particularly when a guy
goes down like that. You guys coming off that win
against the Giants to win against the Vikings the week before.
I kept asking guys in the locker room, think about
the disparity between how you felt after the first Giants
game and then just two weeks later, the music's playing,
(34:37):
the vibes are great, the energy is high in that
locker room. I just couldn't believe in two weeks that
this was the same team that I had kind of encountered. Uh,
you kind of feel the same way, and you obviously
like to have that going into the.
Speaker 7 (34:49):
Buy, right, Yeah, Yeah, absolutely, you know it's good to
good to have a couple of wins before, you know,
before the bye weekend, obviously against the Giants, who who
got us the first time we played him. You know,
I think I think a lot of guys watched that game,
and you know, we weren't very happy with the way
we played, you know, and made it a point to
(35:10):
to grow off of that game and get better, you know,
as as a unit, and we needed to do that.
And I feel like we've we've done that. You know,
we didn't I don't think we we let what happened
the first time affect us. You know, this game, I
feel like we did a good job of moving on
from that and seeing this as a new game, and
we did that and put together a good performance.
Speaker 2 (35:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 13 (35:34):
I think with Sakwon Barkley, I was at his locker
after the game on Sunday and he said, you know,
we kind of need a week even with the two
game winning streak and all those great vibes, I was
talking about, we need a week like away from each other,
right when when you're in training camp all the way
through the season, even when you were winning, like the
fan base was like, yeah, but it doesn't look great.
I mean it's just been a roller coaster of the
first half of the season, you know what he's talking
about when it's kind of like, yeah, I think we
(35:55):
just need a one week break. Let's come back and
get together after that.
Speaker 7 (35:59):
Yeah, yeah, I mean you think about it. We've been
we've been at it since you know, like the end
of July. We've we've all been together and during training
camp obviously get you get a little break after training camp,
but not much. Then you come back and you're right
into the season. We've been going for what nine eight
nine weeks now, you know, so it's good to it's
(36:22):
good to have a little break, you know, you need
that every every once in a while. And I feel
like now's now's it is a great time, you know,
obviously coming off the two games that we had and
getting a little break before for this last stretch.
Speaker 13 (36:38):
Your defensive coordinator Vic fang I kind of kind of
found this funny. Like your defensive coordinator Vic Fangio asked
the other day about you playing inside. They're saying, well,
you've got trouble on the outside, why don't you move
Cooper to gene outside and let him play out there
in passing situations.
Speaker 7 (36:54):
And I'm thinking to.
Speaker 13 (36:55):
Myself, well, it's good to have versatility, and you need
a guy that can play that nickel corner spot inside.
And Defanger was like, you're really good at that, Like
we need him there to do that. What are your
thoughts on the matter and what makes you so good
at playing that nickel spot inside?
Speaker 7 (37:10):
Yeah? I think Uh, I mean, I'm willing to play
wherever on the football field, you know, but I feel
like my size and build, you know, if it's that
that nickel position you know, kind of build a little
bit like a like a safety, a little bit like
a corner, you know. So I feel like that's that's
the perfect spot, you know, for for me. But also
(37:32):
being able to bounce around and play different positions. I
feel like, you know, I can do that as well,
you know. And and I think, you know, the nickel
position is fun just because you can do so many things.
You can blitz, cover, play zone, you can get get
involved in the run game, keeps you really involved in
the game. And and that's what I love about the position,
(37:54):
you know. But I mean, I'll play anywhere they asked
me to on on the football field.
Speaker 13 (38:00):
Yeah, and when you play inside. You talked about getting
involved in the running game. As far as run defense.
Derrick Henry picked him up, took him down last year.
Not a lot of people do it that way. You've
had some other big hits as well. What's the off
season exercise that gets you to I mean, is at
the deadlift?
Speaker 2 (38:15):
Is it the squad?
Speaker 13 (38:15):
What delivers that that power to be able to deliver
those heads?
Speaker 7 (38:19):
Just getting strong, getting strong any way any way you can,
you know, and it's uh to credit to, you know,
Coach Seriani too, because we do we do tackle circuits,
you know, every every single week, you know. And a
lot of it's technique too, you know, tackling, especially tackling
a big guy like that, you know, but always running,
(38:42):
running your feet, and you know, going for for the
thigh boards, wrapping the hamstrings and trying to take them down,
you know. So it's it's a lot of credit to
coach Sierianni just keeping our you know, techniques, you know,
tuned up in that aspect.
Speaker 13 (38:58):
And it's got to be the breakfast pizza from Cases.
I will text you my address, give me some of
those checks you're getting there from Cases. Just gave him
a plug right there, Cooper, enjoy your bye week, have
all the Cases pizza you want. You get an extra
week here to take a breath before you come back
for the home stretch. We know we'll be talking a
lot about the Eagles here on the Insiders because you'll
(39:18):
be right in the thick of things.
Speaker 7 (39:20):
Absolutely appreciate you. Thanks for having me, awesome.
Speaker 2 (39:24):
Cooper Gene. Thank you very much.
Speaker 1 (39:26):
It is Halloween and we got a scary final segment
for you coming up right after this, So not as
scary as sticking your head into a recently seated watermelon.
Speaker 2 (39:35):
What in the world is that stick around? It has
been a.
Speaker 1 (39:46):
Scary season if you're a forty nine Ers fan. But
at least you can have a little fun with it
rock party. You can come out of the wheelchair.
Speaker 2 (39:53):
Now.
Speaker 1 (39:53):
We might even dress on Sunday, still not yet ready
to start in a few of those around my neighborhood
up here as well.
Speaker 7 (40:00):
Well.
Speaker 1 (40:00):
Eli Manning's son Charlie dressed as his favorite Giants quarterback
of all, Tom Accordy, Eli himself Jackson Dark So I
thought it was nice in honor of that that Mike Garrifola,
both your daughters dressed up as their favorite insider, Judy Batista.
Speaker 9 (40:18):
That would be awesome. Could he post a picture of that?
Speaker 1 (40:20):
That would be really cool.
Speaker 4 (40:21):
I love the Charlie Manning thing, but I mean points
to the San Francisco fan.
Speaker 2 (40:26):
That was a lot of work.
Speaker 4 (40:27):
Like the gold helmets, that was pretty awesome.
Speaker 3 (40:30):
Yeah, I say I was doing a little trigger treating
before this show.
Speaker 2 (40:33):
Did not see a lot of Giants, did not see
a lot of Jets.
Speaker 3 (40:37):
Maybe next year you think you'd see more Scataboo and
Jackson Dart. But I just don't think we're there that
there yet in the New York area. But there's always
home Tom.
Speaker 2 (40:45):
What about you? Oh?
Speaker 1 (40:48):
I heard some screaming girls upstairs during the last segment.
I've been informed that some boys did something not nice
on my stoop.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
I'm gonna go find you right now.
Speaker 7 (40:58):
See you
