Speaker 1 (00:09):
The holiday season is upon us, and Jerry Jones always
has plenty to be thankful for, and improved defense is one.
The visit to the Insiders is another. Jerry joins our
Omar Ruiz tonight to talk about giving back and giving
his cowboys a shot down the stretch. Seahawks defensive tackle
Byron Murphy and Rams quarterback em Manuel Forbes Junior also

(00:31):
joined the show tonight discussed the toughest division in football
and a cortacopia of possibilities for.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
How these next six weeks play out.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
If you're planning to sleep in tomorrow, the reminder to
myself make sure you set your fantasy lineup tonight, but
not before our guy Marcus Gret gives you his sleepers
so potent you think they contain.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
Trip to fan.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Welcome inside with the Insiders, presented by Progressive Insurance alongside
and Judy Batista.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
I am Tom Peliserro.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
I hope everyone watching it home has cleared their calendars
for tomorrow, because we've got so much food.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
And football coming your way.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Look at this tripleheader with playoff implications across the board.
Packers at Lions in the early window, follow by Chiefs
at Cowboys, Bengals and Ravens wrapping it up, and we
got a ton of injury updates surrounding these games as well.
Let's start out in the early window. Packer's running back
Josh Jacobs. Yes, you don't have to wait for Marcus

(01:33):
Grant on this part. Get them in your lineup because Jacobs,
after sitting out last week's game, is off the injury
report and good to go, dealing with a bone bruise
as well as a thigh contusion when he banged his
knee on the turf at MetLife Stadium a couple of
weeks ago. Emmanuel Wilson filled in admirably, but Jacobs RB
one back in the lineup tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
Judy Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson good to go for tomorrow
night's game against the Bengals despite missing a practice for
the third straight week with three different injuries. He missed
Monday's practice with a tow injury. There's also been knee
and ankle injuries thrown in there. There was a hamstring
that actually cost him some games. No matter, Lamar does

(02:13):
not have an injury designation. He will play with the
Ravens trying to hold onto first place in the AFC
North and returning just in time to face Lamar in
the Ravens. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow coming back from that
severe turf toe injury he suffered all the way back
in September.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
He had surgery for it.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
This was supposed to be like a three month recovery,
so he is well ahead of schedule. He is back
to try to save the Bengals season. They are three
and eight, hanging on by a thread. Probably have to
win out to have a chance at the playoffs. But
this is a big boost for the Bengals. Having Borrow
back Hennessy, the Chiefs get a big boost.

Speaker 5 (02:51):
They're starting running back Isaiah Pacheko is officially back. He
is off the injury report. He had been there for
the last month or so with a knee injury, dealing
with an MCL sprain. He is now officially backing for
the Kansas City Chiefs. An interesting thing happened here while
he was gone. Obviously, losing their top running back was tough.
They also saw the reemergence of Kareem Hunt, actually one

(03:14):
of the players of the week in the NFL. Forshad Smith,
a late round pick, also impressed at times, so it
certainly seems judy like the Kenna City Chiefs have bolsted
their running back group even while dealing with the loss
of Isaiah Pacheco.

Speaker 6 (03:29):
Tom I should say it.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Has to be the first time we've ever had all
good news in one of these injuries segments. George Pikins
gonna play as well. He had a couple of body
parts and me a calf. He's actually got two of each.
One of them was a little bit banged up, but
no worries. George Pickens on a short week is ready
to roll for a Cowboys team that all of a
sudden is very relevant headed into Thanksgiving. Let's welcome in

(03:55):
our Jane Slater to the conversation. She'll be at that
game along with our Bucky Brooks. Jane, we know what
this offense can do. George Pickens has been absolutely unbelievable
this season. But there's been a lot of action with
that Cowboys defense going back to the week of the
trade deadline. Here what is working right now for some
of those new editions and some of the guys were

(04:17):
there before. In Maddiebrafluss's defense, I.

Speaker 7 (04:22):
Love that you're talking about George Pickens, because I think
more than anything, it's not just the free agents and
their talents that they have added to this roster. Tom,
it's some of the personalities. Love talking about George Pickens,
and I'm going to talk a lot about him on
Thursday when I cover this game. But the one thing
I want to focus in on in the one that
has been getting a lot of flack this season.

Speaker 6 (04:41):
And for good reason, has been this defense.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Now.

Speaker 7 (04:44):
Jerry Jones had kind of cushioned this for us a
couple of weeks ago talking about he owns the fact
that there have been three defensive coordinators in the last
couple of years and not always the right pieces to
fulfill the different defensive looks.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
It's been a big piece of.

Speaker 7 (05:00):
It to add a guy like Quinn Williams literally and figuratively.
With the addition of Quinn Williams, I went up and
italied their list in profile weights. That's eight hundred and
ninety five pounds now.

Speaker 6 (05:10):
On your interior rush.

Speaker 7 (05:12):
It allows for more versatility one on one battles and
mentorship for other guys. I talked to Osa Digizua in
the locker room yesterday and he told me he is
just off to the side, picking William's brain. And when
I asked them internally to sort of explain, well, what
is looking different about this defense. How have you been
able to employ, like make some of these nuances and

(05:33):
these changes for some of us that aren't inside football,
And the way it was explained to me made a
lot more sense. They're using a lot of three techniques
in the interior. They've got that nine technique that's out
there on the five man fronts, and what that is
allowing you to do is it's forcing you to provide
more pressure up front. It then forces the quarterbacks and
with like Patrick Mahomes to get that ball out quicker.

(05:54):
You want to hope that you're you're forcing a lot
of these incomplete passes or you've now gotten one on
one looks, and that is where these matchups are finally
looking favorable. A lot of the guys I was told
for a long time were kind of freelancing, trying to
do a little too much because certain guys were injured.
And now it looks like they've got the personnel and
they've got a scheme that makes a lot more sense,
especially on a week when you can't really scheme on

(06:17):
a short turnaround.

Speaker 8 (06:18):
Yeah, Jaie, what you're talking about is Matt everfluis really
buying into players over plays, and so that big front,
that baarfront creates one on one matchups on the front line,
and their guys now are talented enough to win. And
it's gonna come in handy because Pat Mahomes is a
guy that you just can't kill. He is a fourth
quarter magician. He finds a way to consistently gets it done.

(06:39):
And I'll tell you this, the rest of the league
is in fear of the Can City Chiefs somehow sneaking
into the postseason because they know that number fifteen is
dangerous for the Cowboys. It is about keeping him in
the pocket, rushing to the depth of the quarterbacks drop
limiting the number of improvisational plays that he can make
at the line of scrimmage, but also having the discipline

(07:00):
in the back end to make sure that you don't
let the guys behind him. The explosive places from the
Chiefs comes when Pat Mahomes leaves the pocket.

Speaker 9 (07:08):
The Cowboy's got to be up on that.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Cowboys, of course, had a bunch of new parts on
the offensive side going into this season. One of them
Javonte Williams. Jane immediately emerged as the lead back, but
it seems like as the season has gone on, his
role has kind of evolved as well.

Speaker 7 (07:24):
Yeah, I think the big thing with him obviously we've
seen how physical he is as a wide receiver, how
efficient he's been, but it's the blitzing and the blocking
that has been really key, particularly when you look at
that Eagles win. You know, this was a team that
had a three percent chance winning at one point, and
you've got guys stepping up not only with making crucial
grabs but crucial blocks at the end of the game.

(07:45):
When I talked to him about his weight, two hundred
and twenty pounds is what you're getting from a guy
like Javonte Williams. And you know, when he left Denver,
they loved him up there, but he was coming off
the knee injury, and you have to ask yourself, do
we want to commit to a player with a knee injury.
You know it typically takes them time to recover. I
asked Williams, I go, do you feel fully healed? He said, oh, yeah.

(08:06):
Remember he's only here on a one year deal. But
I think the Cowboys have got some really big decisions
to make this offseason, just seeing some of the versatility
that he's given them and his impact on this offense,
something we really haven't seen from that running back role
since some of Zeke's Heyday's.

Speaker 8 (08:22):
Yeah, you talk about Payday's, you can talk about the
running back, but I'm gonna tell you this offense clicks
because of the.

Speaker 9 (08:27):
Explosive playmakers on the outside.

Speaker 8 (08:29):
They can talk about the eighty eight club and Ceedee Lamb,
but George Pickens has really ignited this offense and has
allowed Dak Prescott to play at an MVP level. When
you think about what the Cowboys have, they have two
number one receivers on the outside.

Speaker 9 (08:42):
From a defensive perspective, who do you double team? If
you double team Cedde Lamb.

Speaker 8 (08:46):
George Pickens has proven the last couple of weeks he
can kill you if you double team Pickings. Cedde Lamb
can get it done if you try and play cover
two in double team both. Jake Ferguson is down the middle.
It's not a coincidence that we're seeing Dak Prescott play
some of the best ball of his career because George
Pickett has come on board this office is exciting, it's electric,
it's explosive. Guessie, Chief's got a lot of work to

(09:07):
do to deal with these two guys on the outside.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
Nice little moment after the Seattle Seahawks beat at Tennessee
Titans last week to go to eight and three. Those
are college teammates from the University of Texas, Tennessee's to
Andandre Sweat and Seattle's Byron Murphy swapping jerseys. Big guys,
those are some big jerseys, and Byron Murphy is having
a very big season and we're thrilled that he is

(09:35):
now able to join us here on the Insiders. Byron,
thanks for being here with us. Let's get right to it.
You are having a really big season. Six sacs that
is tied for second among all defensive tackles, thirty seven
pressures that is second among all defensive tackles in the
entire league. How you managed to have this big jump

(09:57):
in your game in year two?

Speaker 10 (10:01):
Well, first thing, just really uh, really preparing myself, you know,
in the off season, training, uh, focusing focusing on things
I need to work on, you know, as far as
pass rushing, uh, getting in the film room more, you know,
just the whole none. Is just of just becoming a
better player for your two and uh, man, the grunt

(10:22):
and the hard work it's showing, you know, it's uh,
it's paying off.

Speaker 5 (10:26):
So you know, it's it's kind of hard to get
noticed as an interior defensive tackle. I mean there's a couple,
you know, household names that we know, but it's really
hard to break through there. You were having the kind
of season where potentially you could be Pro Bowl voting
starts tomorrow Thanksgiving. Have you thought about that possibility of

(10:48):
where you can end up potentially as a Pro bowler?

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Uh? I mean, I haven't thought about it.

Speaker 10 (10:55):
It came across my mind a couple of times, but
I haven't thought about it. I mean, I'm just focused
focusing on need a team right now and in the season. Man,
we got you know, so got along road ahead of us.
So I'm just I'm just focused on the season trying
to win.

Speaker 4 (11:11):
You all as a team have thirty six sacks right now.
You finished last season with forty four, so obviously you
are well ahead of that pace. The defensive line in
particular has been really dominant. Are you guys sort of
feeding off each other, Like when one of you gets
as sacked as that inspire the rest of you to
chase him.

Speaker 10 (11:31):
Most definitely, I say, yes, you know the D line.
You know, we have brotherhood. Like you said, we feed
off one another, you know. You know, we push, we
push you know one another as well, you know, and uh,
we believe in being dominant, you know.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
Uh, and we show that.

Speaker 10 (11:48):
You know, we can't week out and you know we're
going to play for one another, you know.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
And uh, I always have each other backs, you know,
no matter what.

Speaker 10 (11:55):
And I feel like you know, and also too, and
I play just the you know how, we all on
the same page. Our communication has been off the roof
this season, so I feel like that's why we having
so much success.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
You could have been.

Speaker 5 (12:10):
Drafted anywhere anywhere in the first round. I would say,
you ended up getting drafted to a team that had
Leonard Williams then would eventually add to Marcus Lawrence. That
is a really good group of veteran defensive front line players.

Speaker 6 (12:22):
What if you learned from some of those guys and
maybe some of the other veterans on your team.

Speaker 10 (12:28):
Man, I learned a lot, you know, I'm still learning,
you know, from guys like Leo you know, the Margaret Lawrence,
you know, Jared Reed.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
Them guys.

Speaker 10 (12:39):
Helped me, you know, help me, help me with my game,
you know, and also to just on on the field
and off the field as well.

Speaker 11 (12:46):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
Them guys played a huge impact you know and.

Speaker 10 (12:50):
My success uh this year, you know, and uh, I
would just want to get all prose of them, you know,
for guiding me and this continue to lead me in
the right direction.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
All right, you guys have the Minnesota Vikings this week.
You might be facing a backup quarterback. They've also given
up thirty nine sacks. Is this sort of like when
you guys are in the meeting room where you guys
sort of like imagining like a nature video where you're
the cheetahs tracking down the prey.

Speaker 12 (13:17):
At this point, I mean, we pay attention to it,
but we try not to get caught up in all
it because you know, anything, you know, anything can happen,
you know, on Sundays. But you know, we're very comfident,
you know, and I play you know, the game plan
this week. But like I said, again, we try not

(13:38):
to get into you know, all that and everything, but
we have we notice that number.

Speaker 10 (13:45):
But so we're going to try to you know, check
them each and their where possibly you know, I get
to the quarterback and make them very uncomfortable.

Speaker 5 (13:52):
You guys have I think it's fair to say establish
yourself as one of the better teams in the NFL.
Absence lost the Rams, it has been a fairly dominant
stretch here. You have a coach and Mike McDonald that
a lot of people probably don't know.

Speaker 6 (14:05):
What would you say the number one thing you take
from him.

Speaker 5 (14:09):
As a head coach as you guys kind of go
into battle Sunday and beyond.

Speaker 10 (14:14):
H one thing I take from him, man is I
say toughness and uh and grit. You know, he Mike,
He's the same person. You know, each and every day.
The team we love him, you know. Uh we feel like, uh,
you know he's the I mean, he's the guy.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
You know.

Speaker 10 (14:34):
He put us in situations you know to win games, uh,
to execute you know defensively as well. And uh, man,
you know, Mike, he always has us prepared, you know,
every Sunday, every weekend, you know, to go out there
and rip it.

Speaker 3 (14:46):
't dis play.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
Barn.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
You're in a great division. You're coming down the home stretch.
You're trying to make a playoff push. We look forward
to watching you uh the rest of the month and
into Thanks so much for taking the time to join.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
Us, Thanks for having me.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
Brown's got to win last week, and it was a
big one for multiple reasons. In part, Shorge Sanders, the
first Browns quarterback to win his first career NFL start,
to the guy whose name I'm not one hundred percent
confident pronouncing back in nineteen ninety five, should work. It's
a second start this week at home against the forty
nine ers, and he certainly sounds happy about it.

Speaker 13 (15:27):
I'm definitely not comfortable, though, so's that's first and foremost
that I have another opportunity to go out there. But
in life, you gotta understand how quickly things come or
how long it comes. It could be taken at any
point in time. So I'm never comfortable in situation I'm in.
I always want to exceed expectations and always want to grow,

(15:47):
you know, in each and every week, I would want
to put a better product of myself, be a better
version of myself for the team to be out there.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
Let's welcome back our Bucky Brooks, welcome in our camera.
So who will be at that game on Sunday in Cleveland.
Make sure you bring your double earplugs Cam because you're
gonna need him with the dog Pound there for Shadur's
first home start.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
What are you expect it?

Speaker 3 (16:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 14 (16:13):
I love the opportunity word that he used there because
all season we've talked about it and now it is here.
He talked about not being comfortable talking to people in
that Browns building. They are impressed on how he handled
everything about that. Last week he was in the building
six seven am getting guys ready, his young guys through
walk throughs, the hungry dogs as they call them, impressing

(16:36):
some of the vets with his calmness, with his leadership,
and look, regardless of how many games it is, how
many first team reps he had leading into it, now
he is on the field and he's been putting in
the work with his personal quarterback coach, Darryl Kolbert to
get ready to improve on some of the elements the
Browns wanted to see improvement on, including pocket management. Andrew Barry,

(16:56):
the GM has told him they don't want him to drift,
they want him to operate outside of and so when
you looked at how you performed this past week, just
one sack. We saw the big play down the field
to Isaiah Bond, and we talk about this confidence because
this is why he's a polarizing player. He's brashed, he's unapologetic.
I thought it was so interesting here in Grant delp
at the safety talk about how much popularity is, how

(17:18):
much juice, how much energy, and how it feeds to
the rest of the team, and they say they want
to keep that energy going. And so Shador being Chaudeur
has helped the Browns have a little spark through what
has been a rough year and maybe just maybe against
a forty nine ers defense in tough weather, they can
keep it going and keep this perfect timing energy that
Shauduur brings to the Browns.

Speaker 8 (17:39):
You know, it's funny Camp that you brought that up,
Grandell for talking about the energy the team always lets
the coaches know who the quarterback is and should be
the way that they respond to Shaduur standings. You can
tell there's a lot of people who have a lot
of confidence in him. That energy, that swag, all of
those traits that might be polarizing the team of young athletes.

Speaker 9 (17:59):
They feed off of that. But this is a huge.

Speaker 8 (18:01):
Challenge coming up the San Francisco forty nine Ers, absolutely gay,
Bryce Young a ton of problems on Monday Night. They're
simplistic in what they do, but they're great at what
they do. Fast reactors, sea ball, get ball. They're going
to test Shader Sanders patience and his discipline. Will he
take the check down? Will he take the underneath throw?
Can you avoid the hero throws that lead to turnovers?

(18:24):
This is the next step in his development against a
really good San Francisco forty nine Ers defense that are
gonna play with vision on the quarterback and darrenm to
fit the ball in the tight windows.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
No Nick Bosa, no Fred Warner for the forty nine ers.

Speaker 1 (18:36):
The Browns do have Miles Garrett, which is a problem
for everybody they play.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
How exactly to the forty nine ers.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
Try to mitigate a guy who can we all know
can absolutely wreck again.

Speaker 14 (18:50):
Tom try to avoid Miles Garrett. That is the plan,
as best as possible, and the only way to truly
do that is to run the football. And that's the
forty nine ers plan. On Sunday, it's supposed to be cold,
it may be snowy, it may be rainy, and they
will lean on Christian McCaffrey, and it's interesting. I talked
to Diamado or Lenore this week and he said a
lot of people wrote us off. They looked us on
the schedule and said that this team lost a lot

(19:11):
of key piece as they're done. But we've really bonded
together on who we have, and Christian McCaffrey in particular
number one in the NFL and carries receptions total yards.
All questions about his durability have been thrown out of
the window this season. Expect them to lean on him
and know that Miles Garrett is going to make plays
and you got to control.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
That ball that line of scrimmage.

Speaker 14 (19:33):
One thing that was interesting to hear this week, brock
Purdy was asked a little bit about how he's going
to handle the weather.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
He said, he's not going to wear a glove. He
hasn't worn a glove this week.

Speaker 14 (19:41):
I'm very curious to see that that spin, that energy
off the ball. Can the forty nine ers have anything
in the passing attack or is it all CMC or
bust against Miles Garrett, who is quite on his way
to breaking the NFL sack record.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
On the pace he's.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
At and as all of us who have been in
that stadium, No, it could be totally called one second
and fifty mile an hour wins another.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
That's the Lake effect.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
The weather can get crazy in Cleveland, Bucky Cam thank
you both very much. Lots more to come here on
the show, including a visit with the guy who's got
a pretty big game ahead of him tomorrow. What is
Jerry jones outlook on the Chiefs? Where the Cowboys can
go from here? We'll ask him Jerry Jones on the show. Next,
it's The Insiders presented by Progressive Insurance.

Speaker 11 (20:31):
Hey Dad, oh my friend, I'll tell you what seeing
you with the backdrop of that stadium more. Are we
excited about you being there Thanksgiving Day for the red
Kettle kick calling, We're going to have you carry the ball?

Speaker 8 (20:46):
Well, hey, put me in for one play, just one play.

Speaker 15 (20:51):
You'rest Thank you for having us and I'm so honored
to be able to play in.

Speaker 9 (20:58):
Your house again, mister Jones. I love you very much, man,
Thank you for everything.

Speaker 11 (21:03):
Well. Post we love you and I love it that
you're here.

Speaker 9 (21:06):
Thank you for having us, and I'll see you on Thanksgiving.

Speaker 5 (21:10):
Post Malone at halftime, who doesn't love post Malone. Sunflower Congratulations,
Candy Paint probably my favorite song. Post Malone will be
performing the halftime show the Cowboys and Chiefs game tomorrow,
the Thanksgiving game in Dows those a big fundraiser for
the Salvation Army. For more on that, our Omar Ruiz
is joined by Cowboys Hall of Fame owner Jerry Jones,

(21:31):
co owner and chief brand Officer Charlotte Jones, and the
Salvation Army's National Commander, Commissioner Merle Heawall.

Speaker 16 (21:39):
All righty, thank you, Jerry. We love that FaceTime between
you and post Malone. What are we in store for
with the halftime show? And when do you think he'll
get his one carry?

Speaker 11 (21:47):
Well, I'll tell you. Post grew up in the stadium.
That's not coming to the stadium. He literally had a
cot and he slept in the stadium. His dad was
in charge of all of the beverages at the stadium,
and so Post couldn't go home. His mother was still working,
so he'd spend a few hours every night for many
years living in the stadium. He understands what the Salvation

(22:11):
Army is to not only the Dallas Cowboys, but how
important it is so he's perfect. He's not only really
a great attraction for the game and for the halftime.

Speaker 6 (22:23):
But he's perfect where his art is.

Speaker 9 (22:25):
He's got a great heart as well.

Speaker 16 (22:26):
That's an amazing backstory. You know, Charlotte, the Cowboys and
the Salvation Army have been partners for almost three decades.
What exactly is the Red Kettle Campaign and why is
this caused so important to you and your family?

Speaker 17 (22:38):
You know, it's hard to believe that it's been twenty
nine years since we first launched this and the Red
Kettle Campaign, it's actually one hundred and thirty five years old,
and just in the last twenty nine years has it
had a national launch associated with it. And it's the
perfect way for everybody to understand what the Salvation Army
can do in their own community, and that is provide shelter,

(23:01):
provide food, provide meals, provide clothes, that all these things
that it does. It helps the everyday disaster that strikes
all of our friends across the country so that they
can actually get in there and help them most efficiently.
So for us to be able to partner with them
and just have an incredible show with post Malone, there's
nothing greater than that, to inspire the millions of people

(23:23):
that are going to watch to give to the Salvation
Army and to make an impact themselves.

Speaker 16 (23:28):
Meroll, this is awesome work. But why is this campaign
so important right now? And how can everyone at home
help out?

Speaker 11 (23:35):
Well.

Speaker 18 (23:35):
In the past year, we've seen an increase of twenty
to twenty five percent in the demand for our services.
We know that across the country there are eighteen million
families who are facing food and security, and so this gives.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
People an opportunity to get involved.

Speaker 18 (23:50):
Make a donation, and really make a difference within their
local community. Last year we were able to serve twenty
eight million people. And if people want to get involved,
they can go to that local Red Kettle give it
a cash donation, They can use a QR code to
give an online donation, or they can go to our
website at Salvation ARMYUSA dot org and make that donation

(24:12):
and no matter how they choose to give, that donation
will stay right within their local community.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
That's great. Now, Jerry, let's talk some football.

Speaker 16 (24:21):
The Cowboys coming off that huge historic comeback against the
Eagles and now you're hosting the Chiefs. How are you
feeling about your Cowboys right now.

Speaker 11 (24:30):
Well, I'm gooed by the performance we had last weekend
against the Philadelphia Eagles, and so no one appreciates what
the Chiefs are more.

Speaker 19 (24:43):
Than we do.

Speaker 11 (24:44):
Well if what a game to be on Thanksgiving Day,
and I know that it'll draw a lot of interest.
But more importantly, I'm sitting in the end zone and
our players have a little tradition of every time they score,
jumping in that red kettle. I hope they wear that
red kettle at Damar a scoring and I hope Kansas
City doesn't jump in there as much as we do. Seriously,

(25:08):
but it's a great confluence of some competition. We both
got a lot on the line for this ball game.
So appropriate to have Kansas City here. Lamar Hunt Hunt
family from Dallas, Clark all that family.

Speaker 6 (25:25):
The first time we ever played Kansas City.

Speaker 11 (25:27):
When I owned the team, I gave the Hunts my
box to sit in when they came because I wanted
to show the respect. He's a real founder. So a
lot of things going on here along with this great
if you will celebration about the red Kettle campaign.

Speaker 16 (25:45):
It's going to be a fantastic setting show and game tomorrow.
Jerry Charlotte Murrow, thank you very much for your time,
and have a happy Thanksgiving. Of course, that game is
at four point thirty Eastern on CBS Cowboys hosting Patrick
Mahomes for the first time playing in Big D. The
game kicks off tomorrow with Packers and Lying on Fox.

(26:06):
Then the nightcap Joe Burrow returning against the Ravens on NBC.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
I think it's a turn duck.

Speaker 20 (26:12):
And it is a turn duck. And here's how you
slice it. See a lot of people don't know. You
have to slice it down the middle. And you see
you cut it like right down here, see and then
this is what looks like inside.

Speaker 11 (26:24):
See.

Speaker 20 (26:24):
So you got turkey, then duck, and then dressing and
then checking. Oh, and then then you just have to
do it that way or like any of that makes sense.

Speaker 4 (26:39):
Of course, the NFL is going to celebrate John Madden's
legacy on Thanksgiving again. But first you have to set
your fantasy lineups. It's time for Marcus my words, that's
Marcus Grant joining us.

Speaker 2 (26:50):
Marcus get us started.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
What's your first fantasy sleeper?

Speaker 21 (26:54):
Well, we're gonna go with Kenneth Gainwell for the Pittsburgh Steelers,
and it's just sort of turned in kind of a
two man backfield dayr in Pittsburgh between Gainwell and Jalen Warren.
Gain has been a dual threat guy the last two weeks.
Ninety two rushing yards in Week twelve, eighty one receiving
yards in Week eleven gets the Bills, who've been a
plus matchup for running backs all season long. They got
the thirtieth ranked run defense, seventeen rushing touchdowns allowed, most

(27:17):
in the NFL, and with the Steeler passing game not
really kicking into high gear, this could be a week
where they lean on their running backs quite a bit.

Speaker 6 (27:26):
All right, do you have a wide receiver for us?

Speaker 21 (27:28):
Yeah, let's go two of the new England Patriots, Kayshawn Booty,
who has kind of flashed at times this year. Here's
the thing about the Patriots. We love Drake may as
a fantasy quarterback, but it's been hard to consistently rely
on any of his pass catchers.

Speaker 9 (27:41):
But Booty has been the deep.

Speaker 21 (27:43):
Threat, certified deep threat in this offense, seventeen and a
half air yards per target, five touchdown catches this year,
four of them have been twenty five yards or longer.
No team has allowed more deep completions than the New
York Giants, So I expect you're gonna see Drake may
take a few vertical shots to Kayshawn Booty this week.

Speaker 4 (28:01):
Drake may one of the best deep ball passers already
in the NFL. All right, you got a couple of
tight ends for us.

Speaker 21 (28:07):
Yeah, we're gonna start with the Dalton Schultz down there
in Houston, and right now he's on the verge of
maybe graduating from the realm of sleeper because he's been
playing well for a while. He's the tight end for
overall since Week nine, averaging just over eleven Fantasy points
per game nineteen percent target share since week seven. That
trail's just Nico Collins there on that Houston roster and

(28:28):
going against the Indianapolis Colts given up the third most
yards to the tight end position. Then over to Buffalo
and there's Dawson Knox and I mentioned it with Josh Allen.
Drake may sort of the same quarterbacks we love, but
hard to find consistent pass catchers. But Dawson not's getting
more snaps with Dalton Kinka being injured. He's kind of
taken over that big tight end pass catching role. Good

(28:49):
matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who've been a top five
matchup for tight ends all year. Only the Cincinnati Bengals
have given up more yards after the catch to the
tight end position. So if you're Josh Allen, just try
to get your out in space and let Dawson Knox
do the rest.

Speaker 4 (29:04):
Let's finish up with a defense.

Speaker 6 (29:06):
Who do you have for us?

Speaker 21 (29:07):
We're gonna go with the Los Angeles Chargers here in
a good old fashioned Wild West AFL type shootout against
the Las Vegas Raiders. The Chargers' best defensive performances in
fantasy have come against bad offenses.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
Good news.

Speaker 9 (29:20):
The Raiders are a bad offense.

Speaker 21 (29:21):
They're tied for the fewest points scored, third fewest yards gain,
they've given up the second most sacks, and eight straight
games with at least one giveaway. I say it all
the time. The way to get points from your fantasy
defense sacks and turnovers. The Raiders tend to do both
of those things in alarmingly large numbers. So if you're
looking to stream a defense, go look for the lightning

(29:42):
bolts on your waiver wire.

Speaker 15 (29:44):
He's not gonna part again Mayfield escape and trying to
find some time to throw, and he can't even give
space to let it go downfield. Now he does, he
fires it as far as he can. He goes down,
grabbing his arm, the passes in his Forbes.

Speaker 1 (30:03):
What a run that the Rams are on and their
cornerbacks in particular, Manuel Forbes, Kobe Durant locking down the Buccaneers.
They've locked out pretty much everybody that's come across them.
On a six game winning streak right now, and the
biggest win maybe yet for Emanuel Forbes. He's with us
right now here on the Insiders with me, Tom Pelicero

(30:24):
as well as Ian Rappaport. Emmanuel, what a journey for you.
It's less than a year ago that you're waived by
the Commanders. The Rams pick you up. Now three picks
in four games. Everything seems to be coming together. What's
allowed you to put it together out there right now
in La.

Speaker 22 (30:40):
I'll just probably say the confidence that my coaches put
in me. You know, the preparation we'll put in during
a week, and it just helped us go out there
and make plays on Sunday. So that's the biggest thing
I would say.

Speaker 5 (30:51):
So Tom reference it. November thirtieth, twenty twenty four, you
were waived. You're a former first rounder, and I think
at that point the whole world seem to know which
way this was headed. Can you reflect on what that
day was like and how in the world it ended
not with the draft bust, but with you playing absolutely

(31:11):
your best football for one of the NFL's best teams.

Speaker 22 (31:14):
Uh, you know, I just we all appreciate, Uh, you know,
we brought ourselves in being the best defense in a lead,
and that's what we try to go out there and
improve each and every week with around you know, you know,
with the Commandersina things that work out. But yeah, we
brought ourselves in a best defense at the round.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
So even beyond the interceptions of late here, I think
that maybe the most impressive game you had was against
Seattle and Jackson Smith and Jigba, who has been tearing
up literally everybody that he's faced, And if you look
at the next gen stance and the statistics you held
up as well as anybody against him. When you think
back on that matchup, what were you trying to accomplish? Like,

(31:53):
what was it that you thought you could throw at him?
To be able to take one of the best receivers
in the NFL office game.

Speaker 22 (32:00):
Honestly, I was just going into that game, you know,
worry about my press singing, you know, pressing him majority
of the game, trying to slow him down and not
let him get like a free release off the line.
So that's the thing that I had focused on in
that game, and I went out there and accomplish it,
and yeah, helped them to his lowest you know, to
York with me.

Speaker 5 (32:19):
Do you guys have a really really good defensive coordinator
and Chrishal a lot of people are starting to find
out about him. But there's another coach on your staff that,
from what I understand, has had a major impact on you.
All repleasant coaches the secondary, and it sounds like has
been a big part of your resurgence. What is your
relationship like with Aubrey and why has that been so

(32:41):
helpful to you?

Speaker 22 (32:43):
That's my guy, you know, he just you know, we
watched so much film together and just focused on the
small details of my game, you know, like the ball
skills and the playmaking ability. That's natural instincts, but he
focused on like the technique and how to put your
deft position to make those plays, and we always talking
about just things and just formations, honestly, So I would
say that's the biggest impact I had in my career

(33:04):
in the NFL with him, that was it.

Speaker 1 (33:07):
Sean McVay has been really good about identifying talented young coaches.
Aubrey in a couple of stints with LA has certainly
been one of those. Sean's been to the mountaintop, right,
He's been to two Super Bowls, he's won one. When
you guys are rolling, everybody's gassing you up as maybe
the best team in the league. How much of it
all is Sean talking about the bigger goals for the
Rams team?

Speaker 22 (33:27):
My Sehn don't worry about that at all, you know.
He worried about one week at a time and how
we can be our best as a whole team, honestly.
So he just, so you know, tell us to remain
humble and just continue to work each day and just
try to get better and focus on a week ahead
and not worry about the creature, honestly.

Speaker 5 (33:45):
So, we spent a second showing the statistics from the
Bucks game targeted seven times you were specifically didn't allow
a reception.

Speaker 6 (33:54):
Obviously you had the pick that we showed there.

Speaker 5 (33:56):
When you're in that kind of world, when you're in
that kind of zone, what is that like? I mean,
are you like come on, like keep coming after me, Like,
what's kind of your mentality going through?

Speaker 22 (34:06):
That's exactly my mentality was literally telling myself like the
more to come, more opportunities that I can have a
chance to make the plan on ball. Honestly, I just
felt like I was so tapped in and gained my
technique and just my mindset and just for preparation I
put in during the week that I really feel like
I couldn't give up nothing, and I actually did so.

Speaker 1 (34:22):
Yeah, so you head to Carolina this week. They've got
some young receivers like that the Roald McMillan, who certainly
have made some plays, a big bodied type of guy.
When you watch that offense on tape, what do you
see and how do you attack?

Speaker 22 (34:37):
Honestly, it's a great offense. You know they got a
good running back and you know they got a brush
on at quarterback who can make plays and extend plays
with this leg and got a very loud on just
trying to limit that at all calls and hopefully to
be line. Just get after them and they help us
make plays in the secondary.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
Yeah, we heard it.

Speaker 6 (34:58):
A Sorry, that's Mike cow Bell.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (35:02):
My wife's in Mississippi State girl. I can't let this go.
You obviously are Mississippi State alum. Can let this go
without asking about the egg Bowl potentially Leyton Kiffin's last
game at Ole Miss, although more on that. What is
your egg Bowl prediction? And about how many points this
state can to win?

Speaker 20 (35:18):
Oh?

Speaker 22 (35:18):
I got state winning by at least two touchdowns, you know,
hopefully sending Lane Kiffin, you know, a way able to
not so happy go bye, you know, just losing the
egg boll game. But yeah, you know how big is
in a South, So yeah, yeah, I'll stay bought Thatllison.

Speaker 1 (35:34):
An egg Bowl loss huge impact on the playoff seeding.
Send laying out that way. If they had you at
quarter still, that would help. But you got another team
you got to face with the Panthers on Sunday. Emmanuel,
thanks a ton for the time, man, best luck this
week in all season, dude, We'll see you.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
Down the line.

Speaker 3 (35:50):
Thank you all. Having you have a good day, you too.

Speaker 1 (35:54):
Emmanuel Forbes Junior balling out so far for the Rams
Josh Allen, Well, he saw a Texans defense that was
balling out last week.

Speaker 2 (36:05):
Their side of this break.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
Let's talk a little bit more about what that Texans
team can do and a whole lot more heading into
Week thirteen. Stick around, It's the Insiders presented by Progressive Insurance.

Speaker 5 (36:23):
Welcome back to the Insiders presented by Progressive Insurance. Welcome
back Frank Ragnow, presented by himself, the multi year pro
bowler who retired surprisingly this past offseason, not yet thirty,
and led to the I would say struggles of the
Detroit Lions offensive line is back. Sources say Frank Ragnow

(36:45):
decided to retire, decided to unretire pretty recently, giving himself
back to a Lions offensive line that badly, badly needed him,
and officially today the Lions removed him from the reserve
retired list put him on the Misser's exemplessly.

Speaker 6 (36:59):
We're just up back into shape.

Speaker 5 (37:01):
Could it take probably a week or two, but one
of the best centers of the last decade, Tom is
now back in Detroit.

Speaker 1 (37:09):
Tom Now for good coverage presented by Progressive Insurance. The
Texans are number one in total defense, allowing just over
two hundred and sixty four yards a game, number two
in scoring defense at under seventeen points allowed per game,
Number three in pass defense with one hundred and seventy
two passing yards allowed per game, and fourth in the
league with nineteen takeaways. I'm sure we can still find

(37:30):
some stats where they're five to six seven as well. Sunday,
they got to go up against a pretty tough Colts
team that can do more than challenge your coverage. Alwo
can run the football on you with Jonathan Taylor Texans Colts.
I'll be at that game in Indianapolis, and Demico Ryans
will be ready to.

Speaker 2 (37:48):
Go toe to toe with Shane Snikin on the other sideline.

Speaker 19 (37:51):
I love the chess match. That's the beauty of the game.
That's what I enjoyed most about it. It's the chess
match of you know, you're trying to figure out what
they're doing. They're trying to figure out what you're doing.
So that's that's the beauty of coaching on game day,
being in that chess match.

Speaker 4 (38:05):
It's been a rough season all around for the Jets,
especially for the offense, especially for the passing game, which
is near the bottom of the league. In most categories.
Coach Aaron Glenn was asked this week about the idea
that maybe the Jets would be better off in the
long run if they lost some games now down the stretch.

Speaker 6 (38:23):
Here's what Glenn had to say.

Speaker 23 (38:26):
I'm gonna give you a line that you guys heard before.
You play the game to win and listen, it's just
not in a coach of players' mentality to go out
there and lose games. It's just not you know, we're
not built that way. You know, We're built to go
out there and in player as hard as we can

(38:47):
to try to get as many wins as we can,
and then we let everything else take care of ourself
as far as draft and all that. But anytime we
step on the grass, we're trying to improve.

Speaker 5 (38:58):
It's right, you got to go to culture like the
Steelers have. That guy right there got dropped right into
it this year. Wasn't able to play last week because
of a fractured bone in his left wrist, but Aaron
Rodgers I would say prospects look better this week. Mike
Tomlins said earlier in the week that he's got confidence
that Rodgers will be out there. Speaking to reporters, today,

(39:18):
Rodgers had more of a you know, let's see kind
of attitude.

Speaker 17 (39:23):
What changes for you or does I guess anything change
in terms of the preparation.

Speaker 1 (39:27):
Sort of compared to the week I prepared to start
last week, just like I'll prepare to start this week.

Speaker 14 (39:33):
How COVID do you feel with the brace or cast
or whatever it is that you're wearing.

Speaker 2 (39:37):
Are there certain limitations.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
You have with that device? With the cast?

Speaker 10 (39:42):
You mean, there's limitations for sure, but that's for safety.

Speaker 21 (39:48):
Last week you talked about wanting to be able to take.

Speaker 17 (39:50):
Snaps under center.

Speaker 23 (39:51):
Where are you kind of in that process?

Speaker 9 (39:53):
Do you feel more ready to do.

Speaker 3 (39:55):
That this week? Not today? Not today, We'll see about later.
In the word.

Speaker 1 (40:02):
Thanksgiving right around the corner, and that means it's time
to debate desserts. Kyle Brant posted a question earlier today
talking about Ian Rappaport, saying he hates apple pie?

Speaker 2 (40:13):
How do you feel about it? Ian?

Speaker 1 (40:15):
With the response saying it's bad, that's not really debatable.
Our good friend Mike Garafalo then bring him back it
only but a goodie.

Speaker 2 (40:23):
Nine years ago.

Speaker 1 (40:24):
This week, Ian posted a photo of food that looks
like it's been on that plate since nineteen seventy three.
Ian once again an annual tradition. Please explain yourself.

Speaker 6 (40:36):
I stand by this. I don't understand.

Speaker 2 (40:38):
The food was very good.

Speaker 6 (40:39):
Still it blends together a little bit.

Speaker 5 (40:41):
What's wrong with a whole bunch of things coming together
for one common good?

Speaker 6 (40:45):
Is that not what this country is based in? Right,
it's a symbol of what makes us great.
