Speaker 1 (00:09):
The forty nine Ers quarterback room is in fux and
no this is not a rerun. We will tell you
the latest in San Francisco, where the wait continues for
Rock Purty and Mac Jones has another chance to cash in.
The Cardinals are also still alive in the NFC West
despite a.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Four game losing streak.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Franchise Legendary Fitzgerald will join us tonight to talk about
how they can turn things around in Arizona, the trajectory
of Marvin Harrison.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Junior, and a whole lot more.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
One more week for the NFL in London, and we've
got a great one Sunday morning on NFL Network. Our
friend Richard Graves is on the scene tonight to break
down that Jaguars Rams rumble and catch up with a
special guest. Welcome Inside with the Insiders presented by Progress Insurance,
alongside In Rappaport and Mike Garafalo.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
I am Tom Pelisero.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Week seven kicking off in fine fashion last night, especially
if you're a bunch of forty something year old dudes
like us. We will get to Joe Flacco, Aaron Rodgers,
all the highlights and the analysis in just a little bit.
But there are some younger players at gluing quarterbacks around
the NFL dealing with some injury issues as we head

(01:26):
towards Sunday for the fifth time in seven games. Forty
nine Ers quarterback Brock Perty out Sunday against the Falcons,
still dealing with that turf toe injury that he aggravated
when he first returned to the lineup a few weeks ago.
Mac Jones has been banged up too, but Mack practiced
in full the past two days. He will get another
start and with a win, can earn a cool four

(01:47):
hundred thousand dollars incentive. Vikings quarterback JJ McCarthy also not
ready to start, despite returning to practice this week for
the first time since he suffered a high ankle spring
back in Week two. That ankle still not one hundred percent.
They're being cautious about how they ramp them up. So
it's a Carson Wentz revenge game Sunday. He gets the
ball against this old team, the Eagles. Max Brosmer will

(02:08):
back up Wentz with McCarthy dressing as the emergency number
three QB ian Man.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
You gotta love a good revenge game. God help Eagles
fans if Carson Wentz wins that one. Meanwhile, Kyler Murray
officially as it is questionable for the Arizona Cardinals.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
This feels to me, guys that I know it does
to you too, like maybe it's a little less than questionable.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Spotify reporters, Kyler Murray was dealing with that mid foot
spring throwing with the practice squad of receivers.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
Rather than the main guys.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
That would lead you to believe it might be Jacoby
Brissette once again, but officially Kyler Murray is questionable.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
It does seem like whoever the.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Quarterback is, whether Jacoby Present or Kyler, that they're going
to have Marvin Harrison Junior out on the field. He
has been in the end of US concussion protocol through
the balance of his week, but in a fashion that
the Arizona Cardinals will be very very happy about. He
has progressed throughout the week, was a full participant today
off the injury report, passed nabu's concussion protocol and will

(03:06):
play against the Packers. Meanwhile, Dj Moore, the Bears standout receiver.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
This is an interesting one, kind of a weird one.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
After their game last week, he was admitted to the
hospital because of a groin injury.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
No details please. DJ Moore was back at practice this week.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
He is expected to play despite being hospitalized just a
couple of days ago, Mike, which all things considered, is
an excellent outcome.

Speaker 4 (03:31):
For djmore in the Brown an Bear.

Speaker 5 (03:33):
No please details, all right, we'll talk after the show.
Terry McLaurin ruled out once again. Hasn't played since week three.
You start to do the math and you go, oh,
wait a minute, why didn't he go on injury reserve?
Remember back then it was no surgery, no ir. This
is good news, and the expectation was, yes, that he
would be back within the four week window. But as
Dan Quinn said today, you got a speed guy like

(03:54):
this and soft tissue injuries, it's hard to predict. It's
hard to project it. I hoped he was going to
be back this week. Just doesn't look right. So get
another week and an extra day because they play Monday
night next week. Deebo Samuel kept in a little cage
when talking to reporters today.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
He said he's unsure. We'll have to wait and see
what happens.

Speaker 5 (04:11):
If he can play Sunday against the Cowboys, if the
Commanders are down Terry McLaurin.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
And Deebo Samuel that'll be a problem.

Speaker 5 (04:18):
So we'll see about Deebo Samuel Steebo's status as we
get to Sunday. CD Lamb, however, expecting to be a
goal returning to the lineup for the Dallas Cowboys. What
a great sign for them. George Pickens has been very
good in CD's absence, and the thought coming into the
season was how good are these two going to be
when they're on the field together. We're gonna find out
again against the Commander's CD is a go. Tray Von Diggs,

(04:40):
on the other hand, though not gonna play here. He's
got a concussion. You say, well, how did he get
a concussion in the middle of the week an accident
at home on Thursday night. According to the head coach
of Brian Schottenheimer, as Ian would say, here, no details please,
We're waiting on the full details of this one.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
But something happened to knock Diggs out.

Speaker 5 (04:58):
He will not play against the Commanders as he suffered
a concussion.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Tom did we mention there's two forty something year old
dudes playing tackle football last night?

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Better them than us?

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Also, at a young guy Jamar Chase, who something about
Thursday nights has always suited him more and on that
very surely.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
How about right here?

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Started the second quarter.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
Bengals down ten to nothing, Joe Flacco to Chase, Jalen
Ramsey wanted an offensive flag. No, it was on Ramsey.
Rough night for him, huge night for Jamar Chase. Look
at him fight off the contact right there. Fitts with
a franchise record sixteen catches. Next Legles drive right after this,
Rogers through an interception that gives them second and four,
and it's t Higgins this time. Pretty good planned by

(05:39):
Joe Flacca last night. Throw the ball to one in five,
do it repeatedly. Bengals take their first lead at fourteen
to ten. Fourth quarter now Bengals up by three to
third and gold from the five. This time Joe Flacco
finding Noah Fense the other tight end getting more opportunities
with Mike Kasicki going on injured reserve Fant into the
end zone. Pushes the lead to ten. Joe Flacco is
fire up as you get at that age and suing.

(06:02):
Steelers drive. Now Aaron Rodgers going off play action for
big Darnell Washington.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
Yeah, he's six seven.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Whatever that whole thing is, Steelers closed the gap to
twenty seven to twenty four. Later on in the fourth
fourth quarter, it is Aaron Rodgers once again under pressure.
This is an unbelievable play, the old man escaping finding
Pat Fryarmoth. There was a hole in the defense. Sometime
of a coverage buzz Friar mooth to the house, Rogers

(06:28):
going crazy. Steelers retake the lead at thirty one to ten.
In suing Bengals drive right now, one forty seven left
in the game. Joe Flacco going deep once again for
t Higgins who gets the separation and then does a
really smart thing.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
He could walk in the end zone. Fantasy owners would
be celebrating. No, he slides down.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Very good for him, Not good for anybody who could
have used those extra six points. On a Thursday night,
Bengals run out the clock. Four plays later, Evan McPherson
on the field for the game winning thirty six yard field.
Bengals hang on to win thirty three thirty one. Riders
also launched the Hail Mary at the last second. It
was not enough. Jamorro Change joined our camp wolf on

(07:08):
the field.

Speaker 6 (07:10):
Jamar, what a day you set the franchise record, broke
your own and catches sixteen catches, one hundred and sixty
one yards.

Speaker 7 (07:17):
Tuddy, What got into you today?

Speaker 8 (07:21):
I don't know.

Speaker 9 (07:21):
Thursday Night Football, Prime Time. Best receivers in the world,
best dvs in the world.

Speaker 7 (07:27):
What can you ask for? You talk about that battle?

Speaker 6 (07:30):
The Steelers said they got these corners four games like this,
So Jayalen Ramsey and Darius Lay. What did you see
in those matchups that allowed you to have some success?

Speaker 9 (07:40):
A lot of one on ones, a lot of opportunities
to make creation, to get the bottle nine hands and
make an opportunity.

Speaker 6 (07:45):
Joe Flecko got here nine days ago and he looked
like he had been here for years.

Speaker 7 (07:50):
What did you see in your quarterback today?

Speaker 4 (07:53):
Uh Man?

Speaker 9 (07:54):
Honestly, Joe Flack was a great veteran quarterback. He comes
in ten days ago and it's like we picked off
like he's been here, you know what I'm saying. And
the way he's so poisoned in a huddle throughout the
whole game. Not many quarterbacks as you see like that.
You know he makes no facial expressions and that's gonna
keep everybody else going.

Speaker 7 (08:13):
I really it's early in the season.

Speaker 10 (08:16):
But I couldn't be happy for you guys because we've
sat in these locker rooms the last four weeks and
preached you guys are working hard, you're sticking together, your.

Speaker 8 (08:24):
Bath right stuff, it's gonna come.

Speaker 7 (08:26):
And this feeling right now you have.

Speaker 10 (08:28):
Okay, it's only October, but the feeling reminds you of
why we do this to get a big division win.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
What's your reckon the division?

Speaker 7 (08:35):
Right now?

Speaker 1 (08:43):
Let's welcome in our Steve Whitch to the conversation. This
was the season, Steve for the Bengals. You lose that one,
it's five straight losses, you're buried in the division and said,
you knock off the guys who are on top of
the AFC North. What jumped out of you at the
way the Bengals felt a way to finish that thing
off last night?

Speaker 4 (09:00):
First off time. Any more references to old forty year
old quarterbacks, I'm gonna have to break.

Speaker 11 (09:04):
Out my aa arp caine and wrap you across the knuckles.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
Age is just a number. It's when we come with
this game.

Speaker 11 (09:12):
My speaking of age, Joe Flacco, it was like slant
after slamt the timing that they found in that Steelers
defense across the middle was absolutely something, but frankly it
should not have come as a surprise. Let me take
you back to Week thirteen last year. No, Joe Flacco
was not on the Bengals, Joe Burrow was, but both

(09:34):
of these teams gotten a similar shootout. Pittsburgh won at
forty four to thirty eight because they had the ball last.
But Joe Burrow those were three hundred and nine yards
and three touchdowns, pretty similar to Joe Flacco. Jamar Chase
six catches eighty six yards, a far lower number than
what he had last night. But Chase Brown also the
running back a big game then a big game last night.

(09:57):
So this is Zach Brown, this Bengals offense knowing how
to floyit the Steelers defense. The big question now is
was that just a flash forty one year old Joe
or four year old Joe whatever he is, or can
they continue to roll like this? Because if they can,
their schedule starts to lay out on the back half
as to where they can make another run like they
did last year.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
Well, it's all interconnected, Steve.

Speaker 5 (10:20):
I mean, you know, I'm watching the game last night,
I'm sort of firing off some texts to people. It'
say Jake Browning couldn't just hit these same routes to
Jamar Chase these quick sites. But what happens is when
you show the ability to go up top, that stretches
the defense. Now they've got to respect everything on the
back end, which loosens up everything underneath. And you mentioned
them Chase brown All of a sudden, here goes the

(10:42):
running game. So I JP Ryan as well. The offensive
line is blocking better. That's what Joe Flacco has brought
to this team, and that's the reason for the trade.
Get somebody to get the ball to our guys down
the field, and now all of a sudden, that's more
grass that the defense has to defend. You're right, I
mean this schedule. We talked about this football the other day.
This is the window right now. It had to happen

(11:03):
starting last night, the Jets, next week, I believe it's
the Bears the following week, all three games at home,
and then the bye week.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
Just get this state. It's not even like Joe Flackel's
got to get them to the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (11:14):
He's got to get them to a point where Joe
Burrow can win some games late in the season to
get them into the playoffs, and you look at what
they did last night, you look at the schedule right
in front of them, you go, not that far fetched anymore.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
Bengals defense also came up with a couple of interceptions
in that game, which was big, but also ian. There
were a lot of times Aaron Rodgers, for as old
as he is, I kept thinking he's eventually going to
get hit. He is buying all sorts of times scrambling around.
Big part of that was Trey Hendrickson wasn't out there
last night. Where do we stand on Hendrickson? Yeah, First of.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
All, unbelievable job by the Bengals defense without one of
the best pass rushers in the NFL. Those moments where
they rushed four or even sometimes three, and you just
knew like, if Hendrickson was out there, he'd be getting
to Rodgers.

Speaker 4 (11:56):
But he wasn't.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
Huge difference. So where things stand with Hendrickson, First of all,
it was a hip injury that he suffered. He really
really really wanted to play last night was not to be,
but the team essentially had to step in and go,
you just can't do this, It's not safe. As was
Zach Taylor mentioned earlier today, there is confidence that Henderson
should be back next week after the mini bye.

Speaker 4 (12:17):
That is a good thing.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
What's also going on with Hendrickson is he is a
huge trade target. No doubt, any team that needs an
ed rusher, from the forty nine Ers, the Egles to
literally everyone is going to call the Bengals and try
to trade for Henderson.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
Two things I would keep in mind here.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
One, it would be very un Bengals like to trade
a really good player during the season and essentially say
we're going to give up on the season. I'd be
surprised if it happened. Crazy things happened, but I'd be
surprised about that. Two, It's going to be very expensive
even if it does happen. The price that you and
I were talking about when we were going over this
in the summertime was a good young player, like a

(12:53):
real starter and a mid round pick. I expect the
price to be somewhat similar. So even if you do
trade Raid for Henderson, it is going to cost you
a lot.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
Steve, good stuff. We'll see you again in just a
little bit.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
Here.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
We got a chalk full slate of games coming up
on Sunday, and it all begins bright and early over
in London. How about this one? Jay Wars and Rams
Jacksonville's always there? They're not always there when they are
in playoff position?

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Are Richard Graves? I think is literally always there.

Speaker 12 (13:26):
This is the fourteenth time the Jags will have played
in London, but it's the first time they've come into
a London game with a winning record. At four and two,
it's the same mark as this weekend's opponents, the Los
Angeles Rams, the difference being the Rams don't even land
in town until Saturday morning, by far, the latest any
team has come into town ahead of a London game.
Asked earlier today if that will give the Jags an

(13:47):
edge in this game or not, head coach Liam Cohen said, frankly,
I don't know. I don't know if it will give
us an edge in this game. But one man he
does hope will give them an edge, the returning center
Robert Hainsey. He missed last weekend's defeats the Seattle Hawks
with a hamstring injury, but he's completed two full days
of practice. Coach Coin telling us he gives us leadership, toughness,

(14:07):
and physicality going into this Game three qualities he believes
the team will need at Wembley Stadium on Sunday. But
this week has been spent looking inwardly by the Jacksonville Jaguars,
with coach Cohen telling us it's about doing the fundamentals correctly,
saying the best that we play is when we're playing
with our hair on fire. We've got to get to
flying around, not staying blocks on defense, offensively, better combinations

(14:30):
and coming off the rock. He added, this week is
a great opportunity to display how fundamentally sound we can
be and how mentally tough we are. Remember this is
two teams warn in Matthew Stafford and the La Rams
who is the leading passer in the NFL. Of course,
the Jacksonville Jaguars have a greater turnover differential and more
takeaways than anyone in the league.

Speaker 13 (14:52):
Thrown at number eleven, cover it a gun warner with
a ton of time throwing right.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
Side fits open caught.

Speaker 11 (14:59):
At the five, heading for the pylon, and he is
gonna be ruled e mode.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
Tordnal gonna throw.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
A fade right side Fitzgerald.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
He got a touchdown.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
Larry Fitzgerald warned to pass with time fires.

Speaker 5 (15:14):
Over the middle of the Fits caught it the forty
five fifty fits.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
This was forty thirty gob.

Speaker 5 (15:20):
Hard goes lead touchdown, Larry Fitzgerald fits us wide open,
caught it the thirty five.

Speaker 4 (15:26):
Nobody's there, turns up field of.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
The forty five ct the forty thirty five stick COM's
thirty twenty five twenty Fits.

Speaker 14 (15:32):
To the near side, town to the five and tackled there.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
One of the greatest post season performers ever.

Speaker 8 (15:39):
When everything's on the line, this guy delivers. Hey.

Speaker 5 (15:45):
We told him we were gonna show the highlights. He said,
you can skip that part. He said, now, why we
want to watch him? We can watch that kind of
stuff all day long. Larry Fitzgerald joining us now here
on the Insiders on behalf of the Draft Kings Pinkham campaign.
Fits tell us about DraftKings pick them campaign.

Speaker 15 (16:03):
Well twenty first twenty thousand three injuries. They will match
it and they've been partner with DraftKings fortunately for me
for seven years. We raised hundreds of thousand dollars from
my foundation which goes to conduct breast cancer and obviously
October is breast cancer Awareness month. What took my mother's
life and so this is a really meaningful campaign and
to be able to have that partnership means a lot

(16:25):
to me. And so anybody who wants to learn more
about it and go DraftKings dot com slash pink them
to register into your free pool.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
You know, giving back to the community obviously not new
to you, as it says right there in front of you,
former Walter Payton Man of the Year. Also, by the way,
eleven time Pro Bowl. Your your resume is obvious. We
have all seen it, we have all lived it personally.
For you, this is the first year you were eligible
for the NFL Hall of Fame. It's actually a great
list of receivers who are also eligible with you in Couding.

(16:55):
By the way, your buddy and Kawan Bolden, how much
have you thought about ptentally being a Hall of Famer
this coming offseason?

Speaker 8 (17:03):
Well, I mean it's belying to you if you didn't.

Speaker 15 (17:06):
You didn't think about it, right, you know when you
hear your name mentioned with all these amazing players, and
you know you you hope your resume is good enough
to be able to get you across the line. But
you know, I have zero control over it, and it's
always been kind of a long time practice in mind
not to think too much about things that I have
zero control over. Everything that I could have done, I

(17:28):
did it, and so it's up to other people to
you know, vote at this point. But there's a lot
of really really talented players and coaches and contributors that
definitely deserve the right to be immortalized for all time.

Speaker 5 (17:43):
The rule is five years from what many term retirement. However,
in the case of Larry Fitzgerald, no official retirement. I
know you've mentioned this before that life is sort of
an ongoing book and it's a chapter into the next
type of thing. When you did decide that it was
time to move on, why specifically no announcement.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
And do you miss it?

Speaker 8 (18:04):
I mean it's been.

Speaker 2 (18:05):
Five years now coming up on that. Do you miss football?
What do you miss the most?

Speaker 15 (18:09):
I should say, yeah, I mean I think most guys
would say they missed the camaraderie. You missed the conversations
with the guys in the training room, and you know,
hanging out with Mark Belton, and you know, hanging out
with people to support staff and obviously your teammates. She
missed those things, you know, because it's hard to duplicate
that type of brotherhood, you know, once you get outside

(18:29):
the game. But in terms of you know, the practices
and you know how banged up she during the season,
I don't I don't miss that aspect of it. And
but like it's a lot of fun, and you know,
I'm just I never was one to kind of like
bring a lot of attention, you know, I think it's
like a little cringey when I see you know, just
to me, me me stuff all the time. You know,

(18:51):
it takes a lot of people to contribute to make
this thing happen. My grandmother was a kindergarten school teacher
for forty six years, and you know, she just she
just walked away after, you know, contributing that long.

Speaker 8 (19:02):
You know. So I'm I'm just that kind of guy.

Speaker 14 (19:05):
Man.

Speaker 15 (19:05):
It's you know, it's I'm very thankful for what I
had and very privileged and wouldn't trade it for anything.

Speaker 8 (19:11):
But it doesn't need to be a lot to help.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
Loud Well, hang on a second. Don't you still hang
out with Mark Dalton? I mean, you're you're a pickleball guy.
He's a pickleball guy. You're heavily involved in the sport,
I'm sure you see him plenty. I actually want to
talk about that though, because you have dove into several
different off the field things including pick a ball. How
important has that been and transitioning to like, you know,

(19:35):
regular life or whatever.

Speaker 8 (19:36):
Rolling anytime I.

Speaker 15 (19:38):
Can whip Mark and anything, you know, it's a great
it's a great thing, you know. And he's he's gotten
really old and he can't really move like he used to,
so he can't handle me in singles at all.

Speaker 8 (19:48):
So he never wants to play singles.

Speaker 15 (19:50):
He only wants to play devils, and that's fine, I'll
do it with them.

Speaker 8 (19:54):
But yeah, it's been great to meet a whole.

Speaker 15 (19:55):
A little different community of people and being able to
still contribute in a like competitive way, right like, like
just because you don't play professional sports, I mean, it
does not mean that the competitive bug is gone. Like
you need to scratch that itch, and so being able
to do that, and it's a great workout. I mean,
you go out there and you burn you know, hundreds
of calories and you get to get to compete, you know,

(20:18):
which is what I love to do.

Speaker 5 (20:20):
Mark Deltonley, Senior vice president of Media Relations for the
Cardinals and a guy that we bug very often and
we sort of have a little bit of back and forth.
So yeah, please do whoop him uh plenty when you
when you do get after it.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
I want to ask about Marvin Harrison Junior.

Speaker 5 (20:33):
For two years now or almost two seasons, it's like,
gotta get the football tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
Yeah, gotta get the football tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (20:40):
What do you see with regard to his usage in
the offense, how he's coming along as a receiver.

Speaker 8 (20:45):
The two of you have any kind of relationship, I'll
be completely honest with you. I don't.

Speaker 15 (20:48):
I don't watch every single route that he runs. You know,
I see the highlights, you know when I when I
missed the games. But I feel like he's getting better.
You know, I look back on my rookie year. I
had the luxury of having and you know, one of
the most dominant players in the game and a Kwamboland
to kind of take a lot of stress off of me,
like Marvin did not have that. He walked into a
situation where he was kind of thrust into the number

(21:09):
one spot very quickly, and you know, I think he's
handled it really well, super mature. He's made a lot
of plays, but like any young player, there's going to
be things that happen and transpired throughout the course of
the season that you would like to take back.

Speaker 8 (21:22):
But you know he's taking the right steps. He's made
it the right things.

Speaker 15 (21:26):
He showed a lot of resilience a couple of weeks ago,
you know, when things weren't going it's great, a lot of.

Speaker 8 (21:31):
Chatter, and all he did is continue to rise his
level of play. And before he.

Speaker 15 (21:36):
Got banged up against Indianapolis, he was rolling that day,
so like he was building on it. And you know,
hopefully he'll be able to come back on Sunday against
the Packers say they'll need him.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
You know, you are I don't want to say elder
statesmen because you're not old. You probably see aja ash actually,
but you are in you know, a very held out,
very high regard in the NFL world. Do receivers the
young guy, do they reach out to you?

Speaker 4 (22:01):
Do you tutor them? Do you talk to them?

Speaker 3 (22:03):
Do they understand I guess how good you were at
the time, Like how much of relationship do you have
with some of the guys entering the league or in
their prime Now?

Speaker 15 (22:11):
No, I wouldn't say I talked to a lot you know,
but I'm not one that is like reaching out, like,
you know, this is their time that they have the.

Speaker 8 (22:19):
Stage and it's about them.

Speaker 15 (22:21):
And I tell all of them, guys, there's anything I
can do to help. You know, I'm here, I'm readiarly available.

Speaker 7 (22:27):
You know.

Speaker 15 (22:28):
I think I was as different, you know, with the
way I approached the game because of my dad and
his job, you know, being a journalist. You know, every
time the Vikings would play, he would bring home you know,
Detroit Lions media guy or the Green Bay Packers media guy,
and I would read it cover to cover, so you know,
if it was Don Hudson, it was Sterling Sharp, it
was Tonio Freeman, it was all these great players.

Speaker 8 (22:48):
I wanted to learn about them.

Speaker 15 (22:49):
And even when I was playing, you know, I would
you know, beg Michael Irvin to come up and train
with me. I have a beg Tarrell Owens. I would
beg Jerry Rice. I would beg these guys because I
wanted to learn not only what they did in the
football field, but what made them great outside of the game,
because those those things that separate you, and I think
with social media and all of those things, you just
have more access to it.

Speaker 8 (23:08):
Than I did.

Speaker 15 (23:09):
I needed to personal interaction, me personally, but I think
those guys can get it by going on YouTube and
watching it themselves. And you know, that's how a lot
of them are and you know, more power to them.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
You see.

Speaker 5 (23:21):
That's why we wanted to show the highlights coming in
for all those young wide receivers watching that.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
That's how it's done. And we got plenty more and
there is plenty more out there.

Speaker 15 (23:29):
I remember, I remember, like it was a year or
two ago out and Tyreek Hill was doing an interview
and I can't I can't remember who it was with,
but he was saying he plays Madden to get better
at football, and.

Speaker 8 (23:41):
I was thinking to myself, I'm like, I.

Speaker 15 (23:45):
Just I just didn't understand it, right, But like this
a generation, like they understand things I just don't, right.

Speaker 8 (23:51):
I just I didn't see the correlation personally.

Speaker 15 (23:53):
But obviously he's one of the most dominant players in
the game over the last ten years and he's doing
something right. So you know, like you can always say
you can teach you can't teach a new dog new tricks,
but like you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Speaker 8 (24:06):
But I feel like I need to learn some of those.

Speaker 5 (24:09):
Yeah, we all need to learn them from time to time,
and you'd be wise if you are a young wide
receiver to learn them from Larry Fitzgerald and not the
Madden Football Game.

Speaker 2 (24:18):
You'd be wise to do that.

Speaker 5 (24:19):
Larry, thank you for joining us on behalf of the
Draft Kings Pinkham campaign. A cause near and dear to
your heart and always happy to talk football with you.
Really the first guy to give us and our shelves
a run for the money.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
You got a nice arrangement behind you.

Speaker 8 (24:31):
That bell. Oh, I appreciate it. Great seeing you guys.
I hope you have a great rest of your week.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
You got it.

Speaker 8 (24:36):
Thank you, Larry.

Speaker 5 (24:38):
Fine, what a courteous goodbye from Larry Fitzgerald. I hope
you have a great rest of your week two as well, Larry.

Speaker 2 (24:47):
We hope whoever plays the Seahawks as a.

Speaker 5 (24:48):
Great weekend because a lot of times you'll be under
pressure and you'll be on your back. See why she's
gonna joined us after the break to talk this Seahawks
defense and what they can do upfront.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
Thursday Night Football on Prime Video goes Hollywood this week
when Justin Jefferson and the Minnesota Vikings visit Justin Herbert
and the Los Angeles Chargers.

Speaker 2 (25:14):
In a star studded matchup.

Speaker 1 (25:16):
It's the Vikings and Chargers Thursday at eight to fifteen
pm Eastern only on Prime Video. Forty nine Ers have
had their fair share of injuries for the course of
this season, including to their all Pro linebacker Fred Warner,
whose wife posted this picture two thumbs up, but zero
games to go this season for Warner, out with a
fractured and dislocated right ankle. Kyle Shanahan has already said

(25:37):
they expect that he is going to be back in
time for the off season program in twenty twenty six.

Speaker 2 (25:43):
As for the forty nine Ers team, we're rolling out
there this week.

Speaker 1 (25:47):
Once again, no brock Party either, still dealing with that
turf toe injury that he suffered back in Week one,
then aggravated when he tried to return in Week four. Instead,
it will be Mac Jones getting his fifth start, this
time against the Falcons. One bit of good news on
the injury front for the forty nine ers, tighten George
Kittle is back set to return from injured reserve. Kyle

(26:09):
Shanahan said they will spread out Kittle's reps over the
course of the game, but he is not on a
pitch count. Coming back from that hamstring injury. Kittle is
ready to roll. They're gonna need them against ave Falcons
defense that has been rolling itself, as our Brian Baldinger
lays out here.

Speaker 4 (26:25):
When the Falcons.

Speaker 13 (26:26):
Travel west to play the forty nine Ers this week,
and they'll be looking to win their third game in
a row. A couple of things we know about this
team after five games. They can run the football and
they can play great defense. And that's what the forty
nine er is gonna have to contend with, because when
you go to the film on Monday night, you watch
how they run.

Speaker 4 (26:42):
Blocked right here, and how they got a hat on
a hat.

Speaker 13 (26:44):
Right here, and they got the two inside linebackers blocked
by birds roun In Lindstrom and Bijeon does his magic wop,
make a couple of people miss, bounce off some tacklers
and make a big game and then simple.

Speaker 4 (26:56):
Play right here.

Speaker 13 (26:57):
You watch all five offen to alignment here, get a
hat on a hat, block the five most dangerous guys
let ty algier right here. Like they basically find the
lane and then find the end zone as a result
of a good run. But he got the alley and
then go to the right right here. Watch him just
cut the Buffalo defense off right here.

Speaker 4 (27:17):
And that's all Bijon needed.

Speaker 13 (27:19):
He just needed some daylight and he sees it and
he hits it, and he ran for well over one
hundred yards on Monday night. And then defensively, I think
Jeff Olbrick is dialing up great pressures here Divine Diablo
and d all From come right to the B gap.
Josh Allen might be able to beat one of those guys.
He can't beat both, and down goes out for a
big loss. And then on fourth and two, they're gonna

(27:40):
run this overload pressure here with Caden Nell's and on
the outside you get the aj Terrell right here coming
and they chase Josh Allen right here. He's got to
throw that ball away on fourth to two.

Speaker 4 (27:52):
That's like a takeaway right there.

Speaker 13 (27:54):
I think Jeff Ulbrick is doing a great job of
coordinating this defense. They have a pass rush and the
secondary is playing great. Forty nine ers have a lot
to go up against this weekend. A Falcon team that's
looking to win their third game in a row.

Speaker 1 (28:08):
Time nown for good coverage presented by Progressive Insurance. The
Seahawks defense has twenty total team sacks in twenty twenty
five at ranks third in the NFL despite having the
lowest blitz rate in the league. Some of those sacks
surely a product of you guessed it, good coverage. Welcome
back are Steve Whites to the conversation with me, Tom

(28:30):
Peliicero here on the Insiders. Steve, the Seahawks defense a
big reason that Seattle has been in every game, has
certainly kept themselves in the mix in the NFC West.

Speaker 2 (28:40):
What are you seeing.

Speaker 11 (28:41):
From and Tom, I'm glad you're bringing that up, because
the main storyline going into this game is Ken Houston's
great defense shut down Seattle's high flying offense when it
should be flipped.

Speaker 4 (28:50):
The other way.

Speaker 11 (28:51):
Houston, it's passed two games before last week's by outscored
its two opponents seventy to ten.

Speaker 7 (28:58):
C J.

Speaker 11 (28:58):
Shrouds completing eighty percent of his passes in those two games.
But as you mentioned, he's going up and gets a
defensive front that gets after the quarterback. They've got twenty
sacks and Tom, their secondary could be getting healthier. Is
Reek wooland Devin Weatherspoon and Julian Love, who've all been
nicked up, practiced in some form this week.

Speaker 4 (29:18):
So if they're.

Speaker 11 (29:19):
Healthy, we know how the back end in the front
and works well with the Seattle defense, and we know
their linebackers can flow.

Speaker 4 (29:25):
This could be something where if.

Speaker 11 (29:26):
Seattle's defense, which allows less than twenty points a game,
can shut down this high flying Texans offense, there is
no reason to continue not to continue to think that
the Seahawks are going to be in the mix to
win this NFC West.

Speaker 1 (29:40):
The Houston offense much improved over the past couple of weeks,
which coincided with getting Christian kirkback. Kirk today just popped
up on the injury report again with a hamstring, so
something to keep an eye on leading up to Monday
night here. Meanwhile, let's stay in that division here talk
about the Rams.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
Steve.

Speaker 1 (29:56):
They're facing the Jaguars on Sunday in London. It's a
great one right here on NFL Networks. He's like, there's
a lot of things the Rams are doing well right now.

Speaker 4 (30:04):
Well, it shouldn't be a really good game.

Speaker 11 (30:06):
But let's go back to last week and the Rams
played the Ravens, a team that everyone's been eating on
the Rams, beat them seventeen to three.

Speaker 4 (30:12):
They only ran fifty one plays. They did not sustain
a lot of their drives. So, going up.

Speaker 11 (30:17):
Against this Jaguars defense, which is pretty feisty against the
run and so so against the pass, LA's gonna have
to run the football a.

Speaker 4 (30:25):
Little bit more.

Speaker 11 (30:26):
They're not gonna have Pooka Nakua, their star wide receiver,
but the Jags are not gonna.

Speaker 4 (30:30):
Have inside linebacker Devin Lloyd.

Speaker 11 (30:32):
He really does a lot in an interior space, and
this is where.

Speaker 4 (30:35):
Kien Williams can do work.

Speaker 11 (30:37):
Kyle Williams can be used in the run game like this,
inside off tackle like this, or even in the passing
game across the middle on screen routes. But they need
to sustain some long drives and keep this Jags offense
off the field. As good as LA's defense is, we
do know the Jags can do some things with the
explosive plays that can put points on the board.

Speaker 4 (30:56):
So Kyrien Williams is gonna be.

Speaker 11 (30:58):
A huge factor against this Jags defense, to which should
be a fantastic game.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
Overseas, the Insiders Progressive Insurance Yep, welcome back new this season.

Speaker 5 (31:07):
NFL Sunday ticket month to month is now available.

Speaker 2 (31:11):
It's like an apartment lease.

Speaker 5 (31:12):
Subscribe now and cancel any time to watch more of
your favorite teams out of market Sunday games.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
Terms and embargoes apply.

Speaker 5 (31:21):
All those slippery conditions snuck away on this one Rashie Rice.
They were conditions of his reinstatement from a six game
suspension of the personal conduct policy, the conditions where he
could be around the team.

Speaker 2 (31:33):
The last couple of weeks he just could not participate.

Speaker 5 (31:35):
Well, now he can, he can play, and the Chiefs
are excited to be back.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
Rice, excited to be back in action.

Speaker 14 (31:43):
I've been looking forward to this probably for I think
it's been like three hundred and eighty something days. I
haven't played a regular season game. And despite the regular season,
we still have a whole offseason before that where we
were training super hard to get ready for that prior season.
So I mean it's been a long time coming. And
that's Hon's I'm here.

Speaker 2 (32:05):
All right time to bring in Adam Rank.

Speaker 5 (32:07):
Because we've got some questions about starts, and since I
don't have any questions about whether to start, Rushie Rice
I am going to start him.

Speaker 2 (32:13):
I drafted him, sat on him for six weeks. He
had darn tooting.

Speaker 5 (32:16):
I'm putting them into the lineup. Week seven is going
to take us back to London. The impact on Jordan Whittington,
who sounds British, He's not. He's from Texas. Jordan Whittington
with pooka Nkoil.

Speaker 4 (32:28):
Yeah, this isn't like a Meil Smith Row who's going
to be playing in our big revenge game Saturday morning
in the con Versus Kronkey Bowl. But no. Jordan Whittington
has a huge opportunity this week for the Los Angeles
Rams as they go out there obviously filling in for
Pook and A. Coula got some opportunities last year. In
five games without Pook and a Coula, he had at
least twelve Fantasy points. And one thing about the Rams

(32:51):
is that they're targeting their wide receivers at a high rate,
the highest target share to wide receivers this season. The
Jags have allowed the most targets to watch receivers this year,
in addition to allowing the third most receiving yards to
the position. So for those of us scrambling who didn't
have the foresight there, Geez to get Rishi Ray Rice,

(33:12):
We're gonna have to go with Jordan Whittington or Declan Rice.
Either one. I don't know. I'll take Declan Rice anytime. Listen.
I have a lot of set pieces. I don't care
about decland Doyle bears see nothing.

Speaker 3 (33:23):
Anyway, Let's stick with talking about some of these receiver injuries.
A Mecca Abuka appears to be said to miss the
Monday night game for the Bucks.

Speaker 4 (33:31):
What does this mean for the.

Speaker 3 (33:33):
Back flipping number five receiver heard around the world, Tez
Johnson for the Bucks.

Speaker 4 (33:39):
I would prefer that you refer to him as the
number one MVP candidate because the cheers rained down when
he was sitting there making that catch before he finally
realized of course they were for Baker Mayfield. That was
one of the best moments of the season so far.
But you know what, Obviously this one's going to be
difficult because Sterling Shepherds does get targeted a lot out
of the slot, and there's reason to go out there

(34:01):
and go after him. However, even with tes Johnson playing
on the outside, with the return potential return of Mike Evans,
I do like the upside here. I think that a
Mecca Abuka has been carrying a lot of teams. But
if you're looking for the higher upside play, which is
what I need in this situation. For me, it's going
to be Test Johnson, even though he might not get

(34:21):
the volume of targets. I do like the upside a
little bit more here.

Speaker 5 (34:24):
Teds Johnson thinking the MVP chance where for him is
like you're in the bar and you're like, dude, she's
totally checking me out, popping his pecks behind you.

Speaker 2 (34:35):
Where are we? Mason Taylor.

Speaker 5 (34:36):
The impact on Mason Taylor with Garrett Wilson the Jets
wide receiver doubtful.

Speaker 4 (34:42):
I think this is a huge opportunity for Mason Taylor,
who now becomes the number one pass catching target for
the New York Jets. He was already second on the
team and targets, receptions, receiving yards. This season, he's had
at least eleven fantasy points and two out of his
last three games. The thing of it is the matchup
is great for him. The Carolina Panthers have a looted
the second most fantasy points per game to tight ends

(35:02):
this season. They've allowed the most receiving yards to tight
ends this season. So not only does Mason Taylor get
a huge upgrade in this game, I'm looking for Brees
Hall to also make a bigger impact. Now Breeshall has
been out there not really competing for anybody with touches
or anything out of the backfield, he could also see
an uptick this week.

Speaker 3 (35:20):
The Arizona Cardinals, right before the show started, got good
news with Marvin Harrison Junior. He was a full participant
today off the injuryport officially passed through the nfo's concussion protocol,
which is great news for the Cardinals and in fantasy.
What does this mean for Trey McBride and his production. Well,
I think this actually works out really well for Trey McBride.

(35:41):
I think that anytime there's more options on the field,
because that's one of the things that Mason Taylor is
going to be dealing with, is that without Garrett Wilson,
they might see some more coverage rolled his way. But
now with Marvin Harrison returning to the Cardinals this week,
Trey McBride gets the opportunities to go out there and
make the big plays that he's made. He's also he's
already getting a high volume of targets. Outside of Tyler Ward,

(36:02):
there's nobody else that really has an impact in the
receiving game from the tight end position like he does.
So this is great news for Trey McBride and anybody
who has picked him up.

Speaker 4 (36:11):
Make sure you're starting him this week because you're planning
to anyways. It wasn't like you were going to start
Bason Taylor of him. But you know what I'm saying,
Trey McBride is gonna be just fine. London's calling.

Speaker 7 (36:24):
What lay a time play for the man that you
numbed the game sixty minutes?

Speaker 2 (36:27):
Don't don't dr Stofford.

Speaker 7 (36:30):
He's hitched him up.

Speaker 2 (36:31):
He hits a cut.

Speaker 14 (36:32):
Down that was a dog up, same to down that line.

Speaker 4 (36:41):
Do you any the tousdown Jackson Wading, We'll see you
in Wimbley down low.

Speaker 1 (36:55):
Rams, star wide receiver, Pooka Dakua and not going to
be able to put on a show for the international crowd.
Officially ruled out for Sunday's game because that spring ankle
that he suffered last week. It looked bad, looked painful
on the field, but the hope is Hooker could return
after next week's by Jaguars linebacker Devin Lloyd, also out
for this game after suffering a calf injury last week.

(37:18):
Lloyd did not make the trip to London, but our
friend Richard Grims caught up with one of the Jaguars
players who.

Speaker 12 (37:24):
Did, Jordan Lewis in the league first trip to the UK.
You got into town on Tuesday. How are you finding it?

Speaker 7 (37:30):
I love it. They have some good food, good shopping.

Speaker 6 (37:33):
You know.

Speaker 16 (37:33):
The weather is a little bit mild here, better than
Jacksonville right now. It's football weather.

Speaker 15 (37:38):
You know.

Speaker 16 (37:38):
I'm from the Midwest, so I'm used to this type
of weather. So I'm excited to go out there and play.
Have you got time's got to acclimated just for Yeah,
my first night, I went to sleep at light two thirty,
So I think I'm getting better. I went to sleep
at like around twelve this time, so hopefully it get better,
you know, as the week goes on, so hopefully get
you know, pretty acclimated so I can go to sleep
at ten o'clock to night.

Speaker 12 (37:58):
Absolutely now, big week ahead, obviously, Matthew Stafford and the
Rams flying to Town this Sunday. He leads the league
in passing right now, You're part of a defensive secondary
that leads the league in turnover differential and takeaways. How
much are you looking forward to this matchup?

Speaker 1 (38:11):
Uh?

Speaker 16 (38:12):
I mean's he's one of my one of the people
I've always watched because I'm always a Detroit fan growing
up and I always watched him, So him and Mega trying,
so I know what he's capable of. It's definitely a
dynamic of offense that they have really explosive pieces, you know,
in the backfield, tight end and outside, and he can
make all the throws and it's definitely gonna be really difficult,
but it's gonna be a really good challenge for us
and hopefully we can get the ball back to how

(38:32):
we've been doing this season.

Speaker 12 (38:33):
Talk to a little bit about your preparation this week.
What sort of challenges does somebody like Matthew Stafford post.

Speaker 7 (38:38):
Uh, Yeah, he can. He can make the throws all angles.

Speaker 16 (38:41):
He can look you off and throw and he understands
your defense, so he understands the the mental part as
long as you know, making those throws and having the
skill to go out there and make every throw when
you're not on Q. So we got to be on
our p's and q's and understand that he can make
all the throws and we got to be perfect for
us to you know, have a chance and winning this game.

Speaker 12 (38:58):
How much do you relish? Just like the ones post
by Matthew stepfand you've already got two interceptions yourself this season.
We've already mentioned the Jacks lead the league in takeaways.
Is this a challenge that you guys as a group relish.

Speaker 7 (39:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 16 (39:10):
You want people to throw the ball because when the
more time on task you get, you get the opportunities.

Speaker 7 (39:14):
You see what they like to do, and you can
jump some of those.

Speaker 16 (39:16):
So hopefully we can get the you know, getting flustered
a little bit and make them some making throw some
off time and throws, and we can get our hands
on the ball.

Speaker 7 (39:23):
And that's what our plan is to do.

Speaker 16 (39:25):
But he's he's really the dynamic in the pocket and
he makes all the throws and will out and and
and throw it one hundred yards.

Speaker 7 (39:31):
So it's definitely gonna be a good challenge. But I
think we're ready for.

Speaker 12 (39:35):
Just finally, you come into this game with a four
and two record. What would it mean to everybody to
go back home into that by week five and soon.

Speaker 7 (39:40):
It's really hard to get a win in this league.

Speaker 16 (39:42):
So that would mean the words us, especially you know,
bringing our operation to London and you know, going through
the week of preparation and you know how hard we've
been practicing. H It'll mean a lot for the morale
of the team and you know, just understanding that our
process was right out here and getting the results and
you know, just trying to you know, stack that that momentum.

Speaker 12 (39:58):
Well, thanks for your time.

Speaker 7 (39:59):
Go well on Sunday, appreciate.

Speaker 1 (40:03):
London Tower Bridge, the home of one more Sunday morning
football game. I'll kicks off at nine thirty am Eastern
Time on NFL Network. Are Rich Eyson, Kurt Warners Sarah
Walls on the call, do not miss it.

Speaker 2 (40:18):
Don't miss more Insiders after this.

Speaker 4 (40:29):
You sleep with air pods in.

Speaker 2 (40:31):
It depends.

Speaker 1 (40:32):
I sleep with AirPods in if there's a specific piece
of news, I'm waiting for it.

Speaker 11 (40:37):
And what does your AirPod say to you is in
a voice that's like wake up Tom, things are happening.

Speaker 4 (40:41):
Oh Siri, though will.

Speaker 2 (40:42):
Be like you got a text message for this person said.

Speaker 4 (40:46):
This, Okay, okay, we no, no, you do so then
when series says Tom.

Speaker 2 (40:50):
You have a text from Mom.

Speaker 4 (40:52):
You're like, go away, Mom, I'm not going to respond
to you. Up. It was like from rearing the whole text,
stop it and your brain is processing it throughs or something.

Speaker 1 (41:01):
I mean, I will sort of jolt awake and then
if it's not important, I'll click the little thing and
it'll go away.

Speaker 4 (41:06):
It's not insiders, So I.

Speaker 1 (41:09):
Didn't think this cons to abnormal, But now that it's
been covered on every show on NFL networks, repeated over
and over, I'll just say, yeah, I've been burned a
few times when something happened at midnight or we Am.

Speaker 2 (41:21):
We guys can now discuss. I'm gonna put the noise
canceling on good Night
