Speaker 1 (00:02):
The future is now in New Orleans and rookie Tyler
Shuck's place starting Sunday will help determine what exactly that
future looks like for both Shuck and the Saints. We've
got the latest on all the quarterback drama around the
NFL as we enter week nine. No QB drama in Buffalo,
of course, and for at least one week, no drama

(00:23):
on defense either.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Greg Russo joins The Short Night.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
To talk about chasing down Port Indy Dalton and how
exactly the Bills can disrupt Patrick Mahomes in their showdown
Sunday with the Chiefs. It is Tuesday, and you know
what that means. Time to take out the garbage and recycling.
Then make sure you put in your fantasy waiver claims,
but not before you hear our guy Mike left Florio
tell you exactly who you should be targeting. Welcome Inside

(00:50):
with the Insiders presented by Progressive Insurance alongside Judy Matisa
and Mike Garafalo. I am Tom Pelisero. No, this is
not awake. Everyone decided to dress it in very dark
clothing apparently tonight, and that might be because well, the
Ravens when those black Jerseys finally ready to get a win,
and now they get their quarterback back as well. Lamar

(01:13):
Jackson on the practice field, listed as a full participant
in practice today. Really this time, first time since he
suffered that hamstring injury against the Chiefs left no doubt
when he spoked to reporters he is ready to roll
Thursday night against the Dolphins.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Feel good, feel great right now. You feel like shout
out to the training seven.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
I feel like one.

Speaker 5 (01:34):
Hundred percent and kind of when did you sort of
feel like a fail?

Speaker 6 (01:41):
You just started to feel good. He's in every gonna
be like a win and go home game. You know,
we started off first season elbustan offs like this low.
So we got Tom let's do it aw right now.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
So with Snoop Putley riding to the rescue, there Judy
and they did not die again contrary to the way
that we're dressed tonight, they did and they got a
win to stay in this thing wide open AFC North.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Now.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Lamar by all accounts, seems like he feels like Lamar Agan,
what are you expecting working to see beginning this week
from Baltimore.

Speaker 7 (02:14):
It's amazing how the feeling around a team can switch
in one weekend, they get the victory with Snewpuntley, the
Steelers lose and don't look particularly good while they're losing.
The Ravens defense has been much better than the last
two weeks, holding their two opponents, including the Rams, one
of them under twenty points.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
And now you're getting Lamar back.

Speaker 7 (02:34):
The team has gotten a little bit healthier, and now
you get obviously a perennial MVP candidate back. It has
changed the entire fortunes of the team because what looked
like a division that the Steelers were sort of going
to pull away from the rest of the pack has
now come back.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
To the Ravens.

Speaker 7 (02:51):
They are only two games behind the Steelers, and they've
got the entire division in front of them. They haven't
played the Steelers yet, they haven't played the Bengal yet,
and they still have a game against the Browns. So
the Ravens, if they can stay healthy, certainly if Lamar
can stay on the field, are in a great position
to make a run at the division again. I would expect,

(03:12):
I mean, Lamar is obviously aware of this. Every week
now is going to be win or go home. I
would expect that you're going to see a Ravens team
and a Lamar performance that looks a lot like what
we expected the Ravens to look like than what we've
seen so far this season.

Speaker 8 (03:28):
It's a good mindset, I guess for the Ravens to
have right now.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Judy this due or die.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
It's like when we say must win game and it's
not really a must win game, like they've got room
for two or three losses.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
But the mentality is, and I.

Speaker 8 (03:43):
Had alluded to this when we talked about this team
a couple of weeks ago, I said, there's that part
of the schedule where they know that they've got to
fatten up, that they've got to win the games. Winning
the Bears game without Lamar huge. Now you get the Dolphins, Vikings, Browns, Jets, Bengals.
None of these teams, maybe the Bengals, but one of
these teams at least.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Right now in a playoff spot.

Speaker 8 (04:03):
So the mentality has to be, we've got to get
all of these games, or maybe all minus one.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
They've got to get to nine wins.

Speaker 8 (04:11):
They're at two right now, So you're looking at seven
wins at least out of the last ten for the
Ravens right now there's been a lot of questions about
both coordinators, and when Lamar Jackson comes back, that fixes
a lot of things. And there's a lot of confidence
on both sides of the ball. And you question the
play calling when you've got Lamar Jackson out for forget it,

(04:31):
Like the play call is gonna be a lot better now.
I can promise you that that's going to be big
for these guys as well.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
And remember everything that they had built in to the
offense was baked around Lamar in his unique skill set.
When they went to Cooper Rush for a couple of weeks,
it was very apparent watching the game, everything becomes that
much more predictable. Thursday night, cannot wait to see it.
It's the Ravens at the Dolphins.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
Sunday. You got a new reason to watch Saints.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
At Rams because New Orleans is going to unveil their
rookie courter, Tyler Schuck, who took over last week in
place of Spencer Ratler, is going to get his first start.
As our Ian Rappaport reported earlier today, Kellen Moore informed
the quarterbacks of the decision. It always made sense they
would want to get a look at Schuck.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
This week.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
The second round draft pick much traveled seven years or
three programs in college football, now his first NFL start
on a Saints team that if they decide they don't
have that quarterback on the roster, could be in position
to go get one again in twenty twenty six. The
Vikings hope they got their quarterback in JJ McCarthy back
this week against the Lions. Carson Wentz, on the other hand,

(05:37):
will not be playing again this season, set to go
undergo surgery on his non throwing shoulder that he injured
Week five against the Browns in London. Suffered a torn
labor when the shoulder dislocated, also fractured the socket.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
This is an injury that was not going to.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
Get worse by playing, but it was very apparent the
pain became too much for Carson Wentz. So JJ McCarthy
now will be back this week undrafted rookie Max Brozmer, Mike,
you think the Vikings at some point here will at
a veteran to that room as well.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
Would think so.

Speaker 8 (06:07):
Tom in Baltimore, the Arizona Cardinals Kyler Murray back on
the field. That's a good sign. Jonathan Gannet has made
it clear he hasn't said yet whether he will be
ready to go, but when.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
He is fully healthy, he is still the starter. Now
that's for now.

Speaker 8 (06:22):
Like we're into a point of the schedule here where
it's going to be really important for the Arizona Cardinals.
It's gonna be really important for Kyler Murray with regard
to his future. We're getting into the portion of the
contract where they could get out of it if they
wanted to. Kyler Murray got to play a little bit
better here coming down the stretch.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Brock Perty.

Speaker 8 (06:37):
Meanwhile, the way that Kyle Shanahan described this one was
he's not a long shot to play. Like he didn't
necessarily say he's in line to play, he said, but
it's too early to tell. And as we said last week,
Kyle Shanahan has been one of the most forthcoming when
it comes to injuries.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
So if he really felt like Pardy was or wasn't going.

Speaker 8 (06:56):
To play, probably would have given us an indication at
this point. So party legitimately questionable. As we get into
the practice week, let's see how much he can do.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
Judy.

Speaker 7 (07:03):
The Carolina Panthers are hoping to get quarterback Bryce Young
back on the practice field Wednesday, which is tomorrow. Young
miss Sunday's blowout Laws to the Bills with an ankle injury.
Andy Dalton really struggled in relief. He was sacked seven times.
They have a Marche game this week at Green Bay
and then two straight division games Saints and Falcons, so

(07:23):
they need Bryce Young back as soon as possible. They
are two games back of the Bucks in the NFC South.
And speaking of the NFC South, Falcons quarterback Michael Penix
Junior is day to day with a bone bruise on
his left knee that kept him out of Sunday's loss
to the Miami Dolphins. That would seem to indicate that
he would be expected to return for Week nine, but

(07:43):
we'll see how he looks when he gets onto the
practice field.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
The Falcons have lost their last two in a.

Speaker 7 (07:48):
Row and go on the road to the red hot
Patriots in Week nine. Kirk Cousins started in relief of
Penis and Cousins and the offense really struggled. Really a
disappointing performance for Kirk Cousins. Falcons are three and four
and behind both the Bucks and the Panthers in the
NFC South.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
Mike Joe Flecko. Meanwhile, day to day with a shoulder injury.
You know, the loss and then the injury.

Speaker 8 (08:09):
So much has changed since that Thursday night game where
we were like, oh, the Bengals are back in the
playoff race.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
No, they got to get back on the winning track.
They got to get Joe flacohealthy.

Speaker 8 (08:17):
My understanding is he's been feeling a little bit better
as the week has gone on, so perhaps at least
limited on Wednesday as he tries to work himself into
playing shape. We'll see how it goes, and know there's
some confidence in Cincinnati he'll be able to go, but
we've got to see how it goes this week.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
Jade Daniels did not play last night for the Washington Commanders,
missing the game because of his hamstring injury, but coach
Dan Quinn said they are anticipating Daniels will be healthy
enough to practice on Wednesdays. That is still TBD for
this week's game, but certainly a good sign the Daniels
progressing in the right direction and could be ready to
come back for a Washington team that is desperately going

(08:53):
to need a win. Why well, because last night in
Kansas City it went the way that you would think
it would. Although the Commander's made things interesting in the
early going, Chiefs four and one in the last five games.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
Is starting the season zero and two.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
Of course, Patrick Mahomes big reason why, going up against
that guy Marcus Mariot, who made some things happen early.
Look at the moonball right here to Terry mcclaurin, one
of the catches of the year. How in the world
does he keep his toes in? They had to review it.
The call reverse that is an eleven yard touchdown. Commanders
tie it up at seven at the half. Chiefs third quarter.

(09:29):
Now they're up fourteen to seven. Patrick Mahomes firing a
laser for Travis Kelcey in the end zone.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
Hangs on.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
Look at the hands on.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
Travis Kelsey has a ten yard touchdown, the eighty third
of his career, passing Priest Holmes for most infranchise history.
You know that Patrick Mahomes' wife and a friend enjoyed
that one. One more of patter Mahomes fourth quarter. Now
he goes to Ross she rice. What a monster day.
He could have three touchdowns, came up inches short a
couple of times. Chiefs go on to win twenty eight

(10:01):
to seven time now for fresh Tanks presented by Chipotle
and our friend Jeffrey Chedia joining the conversation, Jeffrey, Travis
Kelce that looked a little bit like the old Kelsey
when he got out there in space and made some
things happen. What realistically can they expect from him as
a part of that offense?

Speaker 2 (10:20):
Is this thing now moves forward?

Speaker 5 (10:21):
Yeah, he turned back to clock Tom thirty six years old,
be damned, and that's exactly what.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
The Chiefs hope to see from him.

Speaker 5 (10:27):
You know that he came into the season knowing that
he was not going to be the main target anymore.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
He was going to have a roways that defined his spots.

Speaker 5 (10:35):
But when you have the way this office has been
rolling and you see the impact Rashid Rice has and
Xavier Worthy in Taekwon Thornton, there's gonna be opportunities for
games like this. And Patrick Mahomes said he's super excited
about the way Travis Kelzi's played him getting that honor
last night, pass the open the history books, passing Priest
Holmes and knowing that Travis Kelzi has been a culture

(10:55):
center for this team and loves what he can keep
doing moving forward, and also Rice is a big part
of what's happening with Travis Kelsey because you saw him
once again take a huge step forward from that suspension.
He played forty percent of the stats last week, eighty
five percent this week. Nine catches, ninety three yards and
a touchdown, and you can really see him coming on.
He talked about how much fun he's having in his

(11:16):
offense again, both in practice and in the games because
of all these weapons, they have, all the possibilities, the
way they're game planning and opening up things. Look for
him to have a bigger impact in these next coming up,
in the next games coming up with Buffalo, Denver, Indianapolis
on the horizon.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
Adie Reid said last night after the game that Rashie
Rice is like having another running back on the field
because of the physicality that he brings to it, and
Kansas City might need him in some different ways now
with Isaiah Pacheco. So everyone who told us an mcl
spring last night, he is now considered week to week. Jeffrey,
thank you very much, Mike. If the playoffs ended, they
don't end to day. But this is how it looks

(11:53):
right now. Okay, they get the Chiefs there at the
seven seed, but they are playing well, moving in.

Speaker 8 (11:58):
The right direction first quarter of the season, really figuring
out who they are, what they're going to be getting
Rushie Rice back certainly, as you guys alluded to a
big part of that.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
Brian Baldinger.

Speaker 8 (12:08):
You see where the Patriots standing there, Mark Ross joining
us as well. Baldy, what have you seen from the
Patriots store in this reach recent surge for Mike Brabel's crew.

Speaker 9 (12:16):
Well, they're a very well coached team, and you know,
you look at the assistants under Mike Rabel. Doug Maroon
has been a long time offensive line coach in this league,
stickler and fundamentals. So you look at the rookies, Will Campbell,
Jared Wilson, Garrett Bradbury coming in from Minnesota. They've kind
of stabilized that. And Josh mcdamm's is a great play caller,
two back offense. You know, they've they've got their rams,

(12:36):
their traps, all the play action passes off the run game.
And Drake Madge's the number one rated quarterback in this league.
I mean these touchdown throws that he's making right now,
that one to boota, I mean two weeks in a
row thirty nine yard touchdown passes to Bota. But you know,
I think that this is Look, they've played Cleveland and
Tennessee and New Orleans.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
It hadn't been the cream of the crop.

Speaker 9 (12:58):
But when they went into Buffalo and they beat the Bills,
that kind of raised my eyebrows about what they're doing.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
And now we're just seeing this thing come.

Speaker 9 (13:06):
Together week by week, a little bit better each week.

Speaker 10 (13:09):
Yeah, Baldy, and I've had high hopes for the Patriots
coming into the season because of all the major decisions
over the past few years, just about all of them.
They absolutely crushed it. And first of all, it was
Drake May drafted him at number three, having the conviction
to draft him but also to play him. And that's
the perfect example of why you should play a rookie
quarterback in my opinion, because he went through that fire
and now he's coming out in the year two as

(13:30):
an MVP candidate. And then going to get Mike Rabel,
a proven winner, not just a veteran coach, but a
proven winner coach who fit the culture and is the
culture of what the Patriots are about. Then a free
agency spending that they did, They spent all that money,
but they're free agents in Milton Williams and Howard Langry.
Both of those guys, Landry lead the team in sacks
and tackles for loss, Milton Williams third and sacks second.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
Tackle for loss.

Speaker 10 (13:53):
And then even a guy like Robert Splane, who underrated
free agent signing there leads the team and tackles and interceptions.
Then you get to the draft where they take will Campbell.
You know, just a no brainer for me. There you
got your franchise left tackle. But even a Jared Wilson,
the third round pick, the guard out of Georgia. So
you get two building blocks. And I think there's more
of Trevion Henderson than the second round pick running back

(14:14):
from Ohio State to give this year. So just about
all the decisions that they made, they crushed it. Thus
the reason why they're looking like they're looking.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
Here's the progress Drake May has played. He played in.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Thirteen games in his rookie season. He's played in eight
so far this year. He's only two hundred and fifty
yards behind last year's mark.

Speaker 8 (14:32):
He has matched his touchdowns of fifteen already, and he
has thrown only three interceptions to ten last year. So
that's the progress that we're seeing in year two from
Drake May, Baldy, Mark Ross, who are back with us later.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
In the program.

Speaker 8 (14:44):
In fact, we've got a Brian Baldinger Baldy's breakdown of
the Green Bay Packers, a team that right now is
backing people's minds is perhaps the cream of the crop
in the NFC.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
We'll see what Baldy thinks as he breaks.

Speaker 8 (14:57):
That one down later in the show.

Speaker 11 (14:59):
Defense Takeaways, Well done man, that's huge right there.

Speaker 4 (15:02):
To huge.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
Full team effort.

Speaker 11 (15:07):
We talked about running the football right, full team effort,
throwing the football, full team effort, stopping the run, full
team effort, stopping the past, full team efforts. That is
cumpanary football. That's what we've been looking for, right. That
is huge man. I'm so proud of you guys that
going back to how we got there, the way you
handled this week, same thing every week. Start, humble, hungry,

(15:30):
putting in the work.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
A jubilant locker room for the Bills after rolling the
Panthers last week, Greg rus So a big part of that.
He joins us right now on the Insiders with me,
Tom Peliicero as well as Judy Batista Greg for as
much as those last couple of weeks before the by
got a little bit rocky, that looked like the Bills
last week, just tell me how we're living there right

(15:53):
now in Buffalo.

Speaker 12 (15:54):
Yeah, I mean, you're kind to this one to get
back to what we've been doing in the early parts
of the see in this back to the basics. And
we felt like we went out there and started and
started fast, and I feel like that's what it's all about,
start fast and going out there playing with a purpose, having.

Speaker 4 (16:07):
An edge too.

Speaker 7 (16:08):
You had a really great game. You chased Andy Dalton down,
you force the fumble. How important was it for all
of you, not just you individually, but for all of
you to have a performance like that after the two
straight losses and now going into the second part of
the season.

Speaker 12 (16:23):
Yeah, I mean for us, we didn't really overthink. We
were just trying to really just get back to what
we've been doing since training camp. I feel like we
got to we're building an identity. We still are, but
I mean that was a step in the right directions
to go out there and get a win and do
it like in a good fashion.

Speaker 1 (16:39):
Judy mentions, you know, you chasing down Andy Dalton right there.
And anytime I see a clip like that, particularly with
an older quarterback, I'm always envisioning national geographic the lion
chasing down the will to beeast, like when you have
that in your sights and you know you can catch
that guy.

Speaker 2 (16:54):
Like what is going through your head.

Speaker 12 (16:57):
Whenever I see like whenever I see a quarter about
really any player in there, they're turned away from me
and they can't really see like where I'm coming from.
I'm always like, I'm gonna go for the ball because
we call it like stelf punch because they can't they
can't see me, you know, so you can't see me
with his eyes looking down the field. So I was like,
this is a golden opportunity for me to go try
to push at the ball. So, I mean, that was
my thought process all entire time. It was a it

(17:18):
was a It was a great Once I turned around
saw I'm running, and I saw it he couldn't see me.

Speaker 4 (17:22):
I was excited.

Speaker 7 (17:22):
You all wracked up seven sacks last week, Like, what
is the conversation like within the defense maybe when when
you're on the bench while the offense is on the field,
Like are you guys egging each other on or what
is it like there?

Speaker 12 (17:36):
Yeah, I mean we're trying to stay in the moment.
We're trying to stay composed. Some guys are like are
rooting on the offense, and then the other guys are
kind of just you know, making adjustments to what we're
going to do the next driver or moving forward during
the the next few plays. So I mean kind of
mix sure, but we're always we always got that positive
reinforcement for each other, always telling each other like what

(17:57):
we see in little tension any way we get to
help each other out.

Speaker 4 (18:00):
We're always we're always on down the sideline.

Speaker 12 (18:02):
We're always kind of trying to stay locked in, staying
game and see like how can we get the extra stuff,
how can we make extra play Because even though we
had a good game as a d line, there was
definitely like a lot of meat left on the bones
and some things we could have done better and some
more plays we can make moving forward.

Speaker 4 (18:16):
So I mean, we'll be excited for the rest of
the season.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
Worksiding you guys also suffered a pretty big injury launch
at Oliver, who I think has played two and a
half games this year. A couple of unfortunate things on
the health front. That's a dude, that's a major part
of your defense. How do you guys as a collective
go about making up for the loss of a guy
who probably isn't going to be around here for at
least the rest of the regular season.

Speaker 4 (18:36):
Yeah. Yeah, it's a real big loss for sure. Ed.
I mean, that's a special player.

Speaker 12 (18:40):
He's been like just one of my ogs since I've
been here, whatever comes to advice or on the field,
off the field stuff. So I mean, I got a
lot of love for Ed, and it's like it's tough
to re place like that. But he definitely doesn't want
us to be feeling sorry for him. We know that
he's gonna do his thing. He's going to get back
to us, and I know he wants to keep on
pushing and keep our heads down and keep working.

Speaker 4 (18:59):
So that's what we're going to do.

Speaker 12 (19:00):
And yeah, but we got a lot of appreciation, a
lot of love for HEADO, and we hope everything goes
well with the surgery and all that too.

Speaker 7 (19:06):
You mentioned being excited for what's to come. I mean,
we're all really excited about the next game to come
against the Chiefs. This is one that everybody always circles
when the schedule comes out. I don't know how much
you watched of last night's game, but they are scoring again.
They certainly look more like the Chiefs than maybe they
did in those first few weeks.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
Of the season.

Speaker 7 (19:25):
What are your impressions of them where they are right now?

Speaker 4 (19:30):
I didn't watch the game last night.

Speaker 12 (19:31):
I don't really be watching football when I'm not playing football,
but I mean, they're always They're always good since I've
been to the league. At least they're a good team.
There's not there's never too many changes out. They run
the ball well, obviously, throw it well, and they have
a good defense. So I mean, we've got to We're
going to have to come out there and really and
really follow our recipe to success and how we've been

(19:51):
having success and go they execute start fast at home,
and I mean, I know me and the rest of
the guys are excited for the opportunity. It's a lessons
to be out there and especially to be able to
play in games like this, So I mean we're excited
for it.

Speaker 1 (20:04):
Hold on, break this down a little bit. You say
you're not watching football when you're not playing football. Obviously
you watch tape. What's the difference between just sitting back
in your free time flipping on Monday Night football and
now what I assume you'll do in these next couple
of days, which is watching the cutups that you need
to game plan.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
To face these guys.

Speaker 12 (20:22):
Yeah, I watch cutups. I watched cut ups, But I
don't reready watch football too much because it's just like
it's what I do on every day basis, So I
don't I like to kind of just get away from
me and I do other stuff, whether it's like playing
the game or I don't know's going outside but just
going out to heat. But because it's just like I'm
already around football all day long, So when I leave
the facility, it's like I don't want to be around football.

Speaker 4 (20:44):
I don't want to keep being around it when I'm
not here, you know what I mean.

Speaker 7 (20:47):
Are you already starting to think about like you guys
have done pretty well against the Chiefs in regular season games,
it's been the postseason that has.

Speaker 2 (20:54):
Tripped you up.

Speaker 7 (20:55):
Or do you sort of feel like you've got to
start thinking about what the postseason against the Chiefs might
be like?

Speaker 12 (21:02):
Uh? Now, because I feel like you gotta got to
earn every win. You know, we're not in the playoffs yet.

Speaker 4 (21:07):
We haven't.

Speaker 12 (21:08):
We haven't lost anything up, we haven't. We haven't won
our division. So we got to take your week. But
week there's no there's no promise that we're going to
even be in the playoffs, or that they're going to
even be in a playoffs, or anybody's going to be
in a playoffs' so early in the season that we
really just like kind of just focus on the game
we're on and we kind of just go one week
at a time and move forward from there and then whatever.
At weekends on a Monday, we reassessed the situation and

(21:29):
we say, all right, here's a focus. Whether it's postseason,
pre season or regular season. Yeah, it's like we kind
of just week and week because if you get ahead
of yourself, you're looking ahead, it's so hard to win,
no matter who you're playing the league. You're looking ahead,
you're looking at the playoffs, and you're in week five,
six seven, like you're not you're probably not evenna make
the playoffscause we're not focused on the here and now.
You're not focused on your job and executing actually at

(21:50):
a high level. On uh in the part of the
season that you're at. So we we're big on just
trying to be where wherever our feet are.

Speaker 1 (21:57):
So last thing for you real quick here, Greg, not
that Bill Mafia ever needs an excuse to get jacked
up looped up before a game. Here, it's gonna be
a later kickoff of a few extra hours of Tailgable.
What is your message to your fans as they walk
in that building with a huge game on Sunday, I.

Speaker 4 (22:13):
Mean, just bring it. They always bring it.

Speaker 12 (22:14):
They always bring it to especially for big games like this.
I mean just bring it because I mean when when
the when the fans are allowed, it's hard. It's harder
for everybody communicating on their side, especially us playing defense,
it's a lot harder for them.

Speaker 4 (22:27):
Snapcount's gotta being silent. So I mean it helps us.

Speaker 12 (22:30):
Out whenever the crowds roping and earlier we can make
plays and getting.

Speaker 4 (22:33):
Them involved the better.

Speaker 12 (22:34):
They always they're always a huge part when it comes
to playing a home and helping us out.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
Greg. Thanks for being here again, man, great to see it. Best.
Like the rest of the way, We'll cut you down the.

Speaker 4 (22:42):
Line for sure for sure. Anytime.

Speaker 1 (22:44):
Appreciate y'all, we just had a trade involving an AFC
East team. I will tell you about that. On the
other side of this break, we'll also get Brian Baldinger
in here for a bald These breakdown on that Packers
offense that looks so good against the Steelers, whom you
might have just added a key piece. We'll get told
the right after this on the Insiders. One week away

(23:06):
from the NFL trade deadline, and the Patriots are already dealing.
First they send key On White, outside linebacker to the
forty nine Ers, now sending safety Kyle Dugger to the Steelers.
Both cases it is a six to seven pick flop
in the twenty twenty six draft, the Patriots loading up
on picks, while the Steelers get a guy who's had

(23:26):
a lot of production and they could use that help
last week against the Packers offense that they just couldn't stop.

Speaker 2 (23:32):
Let's welcome in R. Brian Baldier to the conversation.

Speaker 1 (23:36):
Nobody better breaking down the tape, Baldi, which I know
you have done with that Packers offense. The short version
for me watching at home was these guys look unbelievable
and I don't want to be anywhere near Tuckercraft when
he's running with the football.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
You got a longer version.

Speaker 9 (23:49):
Tell me what you're seeing, you know, I really really
look forward to studying the Packers game film every week
because they're always going to have specific game plan things
for the opponent, and so Adam Stanovitch, the offense coordinator,
Matt Lafleur, they do a great job in the brain trusting.
So this first play here is a stack play. Mean,
there's two plays here. Kraft goes in motion right here,

(24:11):
and they have a choice. They can throw the flat
route to Tucker Craft or they can hand it off
to Josh Jacobs, depending on what the defense does. The
defense fights on the flat route to Tucker Craft and
it opens up a nice laying here in the run game.
Okay for Josh Jacobs. You watched this from the end zone.
Copy right here here comes Craft in motion. Patrick Queen
is in man and man coverage on him, so when

(24:32):
he goes out, it opens it up, and you give
this kind of daylight to Josh Jacobs. He's not going
to miss it. He's going to find it, and he
does for a good first down game. Now they'll go
under theath center and a lot of play action here too.
You'll go play action here to Josh Jacobs, get the
linebackers and the safeties to bite up, and they'll run
their zo route combinations.

Speaker 3 (24:51):
This is a post dig combination right here.

Speaker 9 (24:53):
And so here comes Justin Watson on the over route
right here, and it turns out to be a big
chunk play all right. But the other thing they do,
Tom that's unique and interesting. By formations and route combinations,
they create space for Jordan Love and the receivers so
they know there are man coverage right here. So here
comes Tucker Craft out of the post here to the

(25:16):
seven cut. He's got all this real estate to work.
All Jordan Love has to do. Tom has thow this
to an open patch of grass. It's wide open now
to Sean Elliott's the safety on the play and he's
playing blind. So you know Craft is a difficult guy
to get down to the ground. They have a huge
play out of that right here. But here's another example
of creating space for Tucker Craft. Here comes Justin Watson

(25:37):
here in motion. They're going to clear out the middle
of the field by the route combinations. It's going to
be an easy throw over the middle right here on
this little Texas route right here to Tucker Craft and
the middle is wide open, and you get the ball
in his hands. He knows how to finish a play.
Those are some of the concepts. I look forward to

(25:58):
seeing them every week time because the're a little bit
different week in week out. But against the Steels, they
called him in man coverage a bunch of times, and
they had the right route combinations to really make them pay.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
Baldi real quick before I let you go, since this
Steelers trade for Kyle Duggar just broke here, you know,
Mike Tomlin likes versatile pieces on defense.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
Douger certainly fits that.

Speaker 1 (26:16):
Bill how would you imagine they'll try to integrate him
and maybe shore up some of the stuff he just
saw the Packers explode on tape.

Speaker 9 (26:23):
Well, I mean, we saw Deshaun Ellie get hurt, Chuck
Clark go down during the game. I think they might
need a veteran player back there right now. But the
safety play in Pittsburgh going back to the Thursday night
game against Cincinnati has not been good. And so you
get a versatile player like that, I think you'll be
able to put him maybe this week against the Colts.

Speaker 1 (26:43):
Baldi, thank you very much, nobody better. We'll talk to
you again soon, Judy.

Speaker 7 (26:46):
It's time now for good coverage presented by Progressive Insurance.
The Chiefs defense has been getting it done. They are
ranked in the top five and several categories, including total
defense and passing yards allowed per game. Casey has given
up just over ten points per game in each of
their four wins this season.

Speaker 2 (27:05):
I don't think any of.

Speaker 7 (27:06):
Us are at risk of running out of patients for
the Kansas City Chiefs. But let's bring back our Jeffrey
Chidia and Mark Ross to take a look at Jeffrey's
Week nine patient scale.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
I will admit, guys, I am not the most patient person.

Speaker 7 (27:20):
So let's start with teams that maybe have worn out
your trust already.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
Jeffrey, give me some.

Speaker 5 (27:25):
The Lanta Falcons are where I'll start, Judy, and it's because,
my god, they had a huge win against Buffalo a
few weeks ago, and then they go out and lay
a huge e against the Miami Dolphins, a team with
one win, an offense going nowhere to a tug of
ma lolos like Dan Marino against this defense that had
been improved.

Speaker 2 (27:41):
Kirk Cousins can't.

Speaker 3 (27:41):
Get it done.

Speaker 5 (27:42):
I know Michael Pinach wasn't there. I know Drag Lennon
wasn't there. But you've got to win this game. And
then my second team on this list, it's going to
be the Missile, the Vikings, and I had high holds.

Speaker 2 (27:51):
For this team. They're sitting at three and four right now.
The defense is middle of the road.

Speaker 5 (27:56):
The quarterback JJ McCarthy's only played two games in his career.
He's got to get helping get going. They're playing in
a division right now, the NFC North, that is stocked
with teams that are playoff contenders.

Speaker 3 (28:05):
Mark.

Speaker 5 (28:05):
If they can't figure this out McCarthy healthy.

Speaker 10 (28:07):
It's going to be a long row for Minnesota. Well,
Jeffery to pick the two nfcast teams you had there
in an article in first since the Dallas Cowboys, and
we know Dak Prescott was playing at another level with
that offense even when out Ceedee Lamb. But it's just
too hard to go into a game saying we have
to score forty points or we're going to lose the
game because this defense can't stop anybody. They can beat

(28:28):
bad teams with that formula. But as you saw against Denver,
when the offense has to be absolutely perfect and the
defense gets rushed over, they can't win.

Speaker 2 (28:36):
And then the New York.

Speaker 10 (28:38):
Giants, who the high water mark was as back to
back wins beating the Chargers and the Eagles because of
Jackson Dart and Camps Scataboo, but just way too many
injuries with elite neighbors now Camp Stataboo, Jackson Dart can't
do it all by himself, still has to grow and progress.
So unfortunately, this schedule coming up for the Giants is
super rough.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
Going to be a rough rest of the year.

Speaker 7 (29:00):
Let's end this on a more positive note. Give me
some teams that maybe deserve a little bit more grace.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
Houston Texans are.

Speaker 5 (29:06):
Number one on my list because they've won the AFC
South the last couple of years. They play phenomenal defense,
and I think expel Jaguars are going to come back
to Earth here and give them a chance to get
back in the playoff hunt. I look at what Demico Ryans,
their head coach, have done with this team over the
last couple of years. They've foll out through a lot
of adversity and found ways to win games. I like
their odds of doing that again getting back into the
playoff hunt. And then the forty nine ers what they've

(29:28):
been able to do with Mac Jones at quarterback. All
these injuries, losing Nick Bosa, losing Fred Warner, this team
still has not lost a game in the NFC West.

Speaker 2 (29:36):
They're three to zero.

Speaker 5 (29:38):
I think even though they have all these injuries, all
these problems, they get Rock Party back. They've been winning
game without him. They can win games with them. Mark
two other teams that don't go with on your list.

Speaker 10 (29:46):
They're Carolina Panthers, who I know they got boat race
there this week, but there was no price.

Speaker 2 (29:52):
Yeong Nandy Dalton should have been in the game there.

Speaker 10 (29:54):
But the formula for them is right there, running the
ball with Rico Daldel who had a fantastic stretch and Chuba.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
Hubbard coming back.

Speaker 10 (30:01):
So if they are able to run the ball, Bryce
Young can make time we play.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
So the defense this plays average in that division.

Speaker 10 (30:07):
I think they're still in it outside of Tampa Bay
and then it last, but not least, but certainly the
most positive vibes those Baltimore Ravens, whose defense has played
better the last two weeks, much like last year where
they started out terrible and then started fast, and of
course getting.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
Lamar Jackson back.

Speaker 10 (30:24):
With that poor AFC North there, they might have to
just only get the eight wins and they could win
it and then go from there and then see the
Ravens we thought they were going to be coming into
the season.

Speaker 7 (30:36):
It does feel like we're about to watch at Baltimore
Ravens run. Jeffrey Mark, thank you very much. Read much
more of Jeffrey's column. You should be reading it every week.
NFL dot Com Slash first Read.

Speaker 8 (30:47):
Time to go inside Fantasy Live NFL Fantasy Live with
our Michael f.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
Florio. It is waiver wire portion of the week here.
You got to fill in those gaps on your roster.

Speaker 8 (30:58):
You got buys, you got guys that are stre got
to get out of here and replacement you guys. So
let's say you have a quarterback need who are you
looking at? If let's say you have I don't know
bow Nicks as your starter and you need somebody off.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
The waiver wire, hint, hint me. Usually I like to
go with young players, right Not this week.

Speaker 13 (31:14):
I'm going with the oldest guy available on waivers. Joe
Flacco twenty three fantasy points per game since he became
the starter for the Bengals, with at least two passing
touchdowns in each game. In fact, in the last two weeks,
he is the third highest scoring fantasy quarterback. He has
to throw a bunch each week due to the fact
that the Bengals defense gives up a ton of points

(31:36):
and he's got t Higgins and Jamar Chase, so that's
always a good thing.

Speaker 2 (31:39):
I think you can pick up Joe Flacco and start
him against the Bears this week. I picked him up
last week.

Speaker 8 (31:44):
The reason I'm sitting next is Houston's been tough against quarterbacks,
so that's my reasoning right there.

Speaker 2 (31:48):
Flacco's got the shoulder, so I'm gonna have to monitor
that through the week.

Speaker 8 (31:51):
Although again I mentioned this earlier in the show, sounds
like he's feeling better running back. Everybody needs help with
the running back position pretty much, so who are we
looking at on the waiver wire?

Speaker 2 (32:01):
This is a good week.

Speaker 13 (32:02):
If you need running backs and Tyron Tracy is my
first ad with camp Skattaboot sadly done for the year.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
He saw ten carries and three targets last week. He
was clearly the Giants new lead back.

Speaker 13 (32:12):
And we saw this last season with Tyron Tracy as
the Giants lead.

Speaker 2 (32:16):
Back in this system.

Speaker 13 (32:18):
Nine of twelve games he finishes a top twenty five
running back, So I think he could be in RB
two and he is a great matchup.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
This week, you could start him. And speaking of great matchups,
Bam Night. He has been the lead option for the
Cardinals last two games. He had eighteen opportunities. Last week
they cut Carter brought him back to me. That shows
me that Knight is the lead option there.

Speaker 13 (32:37):
But then he gets the Cowboys who are top five
and basically every category allowed to running backs, including fantasy
points per game. So Knight is someone that you could
pick up and start in a number. I'm doing that
in a number of leagues myself this week, and I
think a lot of you can as well.

Speaker 8 (32:51):
Yep, Tyron Tracy on a roster in my league, so
I can't pick him up, and if anyone in my
league is watching, I'm definitely not putting in a claim
for Bam Night wide receiver position.

Speaker 2 (33:02):
Mike lef who we are looking.

Speaker 13 (33:04):
At for help there, Chimurray d Kay who from the
Tennessee Titans. Look I know like Tedz Johnson and Troy
Franklin and Krishna Watson are out there.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
I like those guys, but DK is a little bit
of a deeper name. It is easy to forget.

Speaker 13 (33:17):
That the Titans drafted him Obert elik Io matter last
week eight targets and he turned it into ninety three yards.

Speaker 2 (33:23):
He is now top seventy yards two weeks in a row.

Speaker 13 (33:27):
The Titans could move on from a Calvin Ridley in
a trade or something like that, and if they did,
DK has the upside to be an every week flex option.
And if you're like Mike, like all these guys are
available not available in my leagues, here are plenty of
other options for you to.

Speaker 2 (33:41):
Go out and grab off the waiver wire.

Speaker 4 (33:43):
For week nine.

Speaker 2 (33:44):
Ta j Spears available in my league.

Speaker 8 (33:46):
Might put in a claim for him, maybe below Ben
Knight if I so decided to put in a claim
for him.

Speaker 2 (33:51):
Right now, I'm not florio. All right, Well, we'll scan.

Speaker 8 (33:55):
The waiver wire, we will try to fortify our rosters,
and then later in the week you're going to come
back and tell us which.

Speaker 2 (34:00):
Of the guys we picked up and already have to
start or sit. That's what you do.

Speaker 8 (34:03):
Michael f Florio, appreciate you as national games between a
couple of two win teams go.

Speaker 1 (34:10):
Honestly, this is a pretty spicy one. It's Dereck Henry
and the Ravens against a guy that most people nationally
can't identify and the Dolphins. It's also Lamar Jackson's return
to a tongue of by law and our guy, Sam
Schwartztein Prime Video and Thursday Night football analytics expert, who's
going to help us break down this matchup sounds like

(34:30):
it's for real this time. Sam Lamar is really back.
He says he is good to go. We haven't seen
him in a little bit. If there is one flaw,
one way that Anthony Weaver's defense can attack the Ravens
offense of Lamar out there, what is it?

Speaker 14 (34:44):
Yeah, it's not going to do much imitating two on
scout team this week. So him being live is great
this week. He has one issue in his game this season.
That's his pressure to sacrate. It's when he's getting pressured.
How often is he actually going down? This is somebody
who was great at avoiding last year thirty one percent
this year. Pressure at sacrate last year only thirteen percent.
And the issue is the pressure is rising. He's over

(35:06):
forty percent pressure rate, one of the highest in the NFL,
and he's not able to find those guys downfield. He
keeps his eyes downfield for one point zero three seconds.
That's the second longest time to throw after a pressure
in the NFL. But when he is able to beat
that pressure and able to look like old Lamar, he's
able to beat teams easily. And that's what they're hoping

(35:27):
against this defense from the Dolphins, which played much better
than what they've shown on film, but they're going to
be able to say, Chop Robinson, this is the week
to get back on track and try and get Lamar
Jackson down.

Speaker 1 (35:37):
We saw old to a tongue of Vla at least
twenty twenty three vintage to a tongue of Iloa last
week for the Dolphins against the Falcons. He was in command,
he was accurate, he was playing within rhythm. What did
you just see, Sam? What do you think change that?
Maybe they can carry over this week.

Speaker 14 (35:53):
Yeah, it's all about timing and they're time to throw
every single play that Mike mc daniel coles. He wants
to get the ball out quick and get to the
ball to players in spots. He had a time to
throw two point three seven seconds. That was the fastest
of this season. He likes to go even faster than that,
and he's able to get push the ball downfield even
when throwing quick. What's great about them You'll often hear

(36:14):
the run to set the pass. The quick pass sets
up the longer pass in this Dolphins offense, and he
was able to go five for seven for two touchdowns
on throws over two and a half seconds. Getting the
ball out quick will make life a lot easier for
on Thursday versus the Ravens that Dart he threw to
the pylon.

Speaker 1 (36:34):
That's absolutely what we've seen from two in the past
and the things that he can do on the football field.
But also it seemed like some new things last week
from the Dolphins stand.

Speaker 14 (36:43):
Yeah, there's a ton of injuries that they have and
instead of replacing Darren Waller with another tight end, they
are placing with an old lineman, Daniel Brunskill, who many
people may not notice. He has the record for most
professional eleven to eleven football games in a season, playing
eight games with the AF and then a full season
with the Niners. And nineteen, and so he is a
player that they've added.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
Now.

Speaker 14 (37:03):
Normally when teams go jumbo, they want to run the football. Well,
the Dolphins actually pass forty percent of the time. The
league average around twenty six percent. And another little fun
thing that they do is they don't actually run at
Daniel Brunskill. They'll run week away from him sixty three
percent of the time. It's a little more eye candy,
a little more help in the pass protection. He's not

(37:25):
releasing on routes. But it's something that Mike mcdiald has
shown he can evolve to. Had not done him before
last week.

Speaker 1 (37:31):
Sam great stuff as always, will see you Thursday night
on Prime Video on the pregame show, Thank you very much.
Time right now to go and vote for the best
rookies of the week the Pepsi zero Sugar Rookie of
the Week nominees. Jackson Dart is a regular at this
point on that list. How about t Mac how about

(37:51):
Harold fannin junior making things happen for that Browns offense
as well. Go to NFL dot com slash rookies and
vote right now. More insiders after this one week to
the NFL Trade deadline of the Patriots aren't waiting. First off,
they traded Kyle Dugger, their safety to the Steelers in
exchange for a late round pickflop. Patriots pick up a

(38:12):
sixth in exchange for Dugger and a seventh. They also
traded Keon White to the forty nine Ers, same exact
trade terms for the Patriots, who now owned ten picks
all in the first six rounds of April's drafts. New
England also kept one of their own at home. As
Ian Rappaport and I reported earlier today, quarterback and potter
turner Marcus Jones the great terms on a three year

(38:35):
contact extension that is worth thirty six million dollars plus
some upside, a nice payday for guy that they are
now keeping home through the twenty twenty eight season. Meanwhile,
the Giants, according to Mike Garafolo, planned to keep Cavon
Thibodeau at home. They've gotten calls they say they are
not trading KT like most players in the NFL. There's

(38:56):
a price at which you'd trade them, but it does
not sound like that's a price that the Giant have
any intention that they are going to get. Next Tuesday,
four pm Eastern time right here, an annual trade deadline special, Judy,
what do you hopeing we're talking about that day?

Speaker 7 (39:10):
I hope we're talking about a lot of trades. The
NFL moved the trade deadline back to try to get
more action. We're still not quite like the NBA trade
deadline level. I want lots of activity. Counting on somebody
like Howie Rose meant to liven things up.

Speaker 8 (39:25):
Let's see the Jets make some move as team I'm
looking at. We talked about that the other day. Don't
know that it's going to be Quinn Williams. It wouldn't
rule it out completely, but Breeze Hall. Let's get Breeze
Hall on the move. Get him into an exciting offense.
See what you could really.

Speaker 2 (39:36):
Really do true trades during this show tonight.

Speaker 1 (39:38):
Who knows how many more we could have even tomorrow night,
because we'll be back seven pm Eastern Time right here
on NFL Network.

Speaker 2 (39:45):
You never know what's going to happen. Be there, m
