Speaker 1 (00:11):
Joe Fleco the replacement, Yes, the replacement like Shane Falco.
Joe Flecco the replacement once again, this time in Cincinnati.
Joe Fleco QB one Immediately we're going to talk about that.
Coming up. We're also going to talk to Bijon Robinson. Yes,
I said it correctly, be John Robinson. We're going to
talk about the pronunciation of his first name, and a
(00:32):
whole lot of football. The Falcons running back joining us
tonight here on the program and wake up. Marcus Krantz
got your Week six fantasy sleepers for you as you
headed to the pivotal stretch leading up to the postseason.
Gotta make a run. You're two and three. Hurry, Oh wait,
that's me. That's my team that I've talked about. Welcome
(00:54):
inside with the Insiders with Ian rappaport. I believe his
team is one and four. He tells us every week
how bad it is, but don't worry about that. That's
not why he's here. He's here to give you news
and information here on The Insiders presented by Progressive Insurance.
Marcus greg going to join us, like I said, Brian
Baldinger as well. Steve Weisch along for the ride. A
cast of thousands, well, a cast of a couple enough
(01:16):
to give you the news and the news today. Joe
Flecko just got here today in Cincinnati. Gonna start immediately.
I mean, you make this trade right now, you're trying
to salvage your season. He already played the Packers this year.
Of course he's going to start right away. Here is
Bengals coach Zach or Robertson, Zach Taylor. Excuse me giving
(01:37):
you the reasoning for why Flecco is going to get
the start.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Brings great, great experience, great leadership. His style fits our
style of play too, so excited to get him out there.
We'll start him this week. So he's gonna take all
the reps. Get ready to go. Already spent a lot
of time meeting with us, getting up to speed, so
feel really good about where he's at.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Zach Taylor, Zach Robinson. Now they're watching this me meet No, No,
Zach Taylor. That's what I meant to say. Ian Rappaport,
never get that name wrong. Your thoughts on Joe Flacco
is starting immedia. I mean, this is a lot for anybody,
but if anybody's gonna do it, you think it would
be Joe Flacco has just been around so long.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
Yeah, really not as surprise, the Angos quickly named Joe
Flacco QB one. If you followed me on social media, Mike,
you also might have learned that yesterday.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
But look, they don't trade.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
For someone like Joe Flacco unless you're going to immediately
install him as a starter and immediately rely on him
to essentially saved the season.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
And it's not like he alone is going to save
the season.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
But clearly the Cincinnati Bengals, he was the best option
to keep them afloat. And there really is a carrot
at the end of this thing. It is Joe Burrow,
the other Joe, the original Joe, who is waiting. He
is out until probably mid December, undergoing surgery on that
turf toe. And if Joe Flacco can just keep them
alive until then, Burrow could come back and potentially lead
(02:56):
to the playoffs. But a lot of stuff has to
happen right now to make sure that this is possible.
This is why you know I would say this, Mike,
trading for Joe Flacco. It's not a last resort, but
it was among the last resort to lose three games
with Jake browning that even with the fourth cord he
had last week, it was now what you thought. It
was far worse than he thought. So okay, the Bengals,
(03:17):
who traditionally are risk averse, do something out of character.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Duke Tobin canvas Is.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
The league calls basically anyone who has a quarterback.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
Looks at all the options, settles on Flacco.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Hard to imagine anyone with more experience, Hard to imagine
anyone capable of hitting the ground running like him. It
is all on him to do exactly what they traded
him for.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
He may have called a lot of people around the league,
but I'm here at the Giants facility and the phone
did not ring with the Cincinnati area code, which I
know not that in the five to one three. I'm
trying to remember what the Cincinnati area code is off
the top of my head. I was laughing when Ian
mentioned the fact that he was QB one. Thank you
got it right, five one three. I was laughing as
Ian said. He put it out on social media yesterday
(04:00):
saying here's the Bengals new QB one. We were giving
him a hard time before the show, was saying you
didn't really report that he was going to start immediately.
He just said he's QB one for the rest of
the season. This is how we grade this scoops around here.
Joe Flacco. I remember being at Brown's training camp this
summer talking to somebody there who said, there's nothing you
can throw at Joe Flacco with regard to an offensive
brinkle that he hadn't already seen. He's been around the
league league. This is his seventh team overall, nine total teams,
(04:23):
because he made a couple of trips to the same team.
So yeah, this is a guy that could do it
on a quick study. Get him up to speed. Baker
Mayfield did it, won in dramatic fashion when he just
showed up like two days before the game. So here's
Joe Flacco with the chance to do that on the
other side of this trade, and another orange wearing AFC
North team playing in Ohio. They're the ones that made
(04:45):
the trade. Here's Kevin Stefanski on the Browns reasoning.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
Well, first I'd tell you is that Joe trade took
us by surprise. That was not something that we saw coming.
You know, they called us, and you know that's it
was happened very fast. And happened not too long ago,
so still working through all roster type of things. I
just I always have to be mindful of our players
(05:10):
and our players' development, and you know, I want to
make sure that I'm always doing what's best for our
players and of course our team. But you know, with
young players, I'm always thinking about last week making the
change with to Dylan. You have to think long and
hard about that because these are these are young players
that you're so invested in their development. So I'll let
the week play out, make a decision later on that.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
Alrighty into Cleveland. Then we go and we look at
the Browns quarterback depth chart. Obviously everybody slides up a notch, right,
so that would mean Dylan Gabriel QB one, as you
like to say, Shador Sanders QB two. Then correct.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
Now, I would say, we'll see on that. Kevin Sabanski
explained it really well. He has decisions to make that
a far ranging ramifications besides just okay, who steps on
the field in the event that something bad happens to
deal in Gabriel, there is the overall development of Shador Sanders,
and look, there's things about his football team too, who's
best served to to have success. But there's also Shador Sanders,
(06:14):
the career, the player, the person, the guy they want
to develop and have success right away. I learned this
last week and I was reporting why Joe Flakka was
going to remain the backup. And my understanding is Shador
Sanders is expected to play at some point this season.
Jimmy has them said it in training camp. Really not
a surprise Mike. When he does play, they want him
(06:34):
to be successful. The best way for a player or
quarterback to be successful is to go through the week
of practice, getting the ones play when the game plan
is designed for him, and go out there and run
what you've practiced. If Shaudor is the backup, none of
that would happen. So with the Browns who have not
made a firm decision here, what they may end up
doing is saying, you know what, we have Bailly Zappy,
(06:56):
who's been a starter, who's.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
Been a backup, who's been through it.
Speaker 3 (06:58):
Just have him come in and be the backup in
case something happens to Dylan Gabriel, and if she door
is to play, he will do it with the full
week ahead. I'm not saying natural they're doing. But to me,
knowing what I know, that makes the most sense.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
Bailly's happy. He's been put in some situations, including last
year in his NFL career, and this would be another
one potentially if he came in in relief of Dylan Gabriel.
I just can we get a memo at some point,
like where in the regular season where it's going to
be like, oh, this is the time where we're comfortable
enough with your door Sanders that he has enough seasoning.
I mean, this is a competition. I understand that, but
(07:32):
this is a competition that started in the spring, went
through the summer, is sort of continuing. Now. You've reported
and we've mentioned that we expect you Doors Sanders to
see the field at some point this season. But I'd
like to know when. I'd like to know, like when
we're in that little sweet spot of the Cleveland Brown schedule.
When we find out, we will let you know. I
promise you that. Elsewhere in the AFC, North, Lamar Jackson
(07:53):
still not practicing, although the Ravens did get some key
players back on the practice field that missed the game
the other day, including Kyle Hamilton. Jackson not practicing so
this is pretty clear where this one is heading. They've
got the bye week coming up. The thought is they
get really strong after the bye week, where the schedule
does start to soften up a little bit, maybe they
can call their way back in the division race at
that point with a healthy Lamar Jackson. So that looks
(08:15):
like where it is going for them. Cooper Rush again
expected to start for them this weekend against the Rams.
Terry McLaurin not practicing with that quad injury. We talked
about it taking a couple of weeks despite the fact
that it wouldn't need surgery. So we'll see if McLaren
can get even more down the line with regard to
his recoveries. He has done some work, but just not
(08:37):
to the point where he can practice with that quad injury.
Staying in the NFC East, I will be on the
field that met life stating alone with my buddy Ian
Rappaport for this is Your Life, Say Kwon Barkley the
Giants the Eagles tomorrow night on Prime Video. The injury
report here for the Eagles. Jalen Carter popped up here
(08:59):
with that heel injury limited practice. He is listed as questionable.
Saquon Barkley started the week not practicing, but upgraded to
full and no game status, so he will be a goal.
On the other side of this for the Giants, Jackson
Dart's going to be a go and Tyrone Tracy returns.
Here is Nick Sirianni on some of his key players
(09:19):
getting together and trying to get on the same page
this week.
Speaker 6 (09:23):
Yeah, you know, love the fact that we all get
together and are looking for solutions to continue to get better.
That's just not a coaching thing. That's just not a
leaders on the football team. That's this team. That's the
mindset of this team is how do we how do
we keep getting better be playing our best football by.
Speaker 7 (09:44):
The end of the year.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
And so you love that.
Speaker 6 (09:47):
You love that for you know, all the guys and
when you you know, I always say to the coaches,
like anything we're preaching, we better be living ourselves. And
then you have the same thing with when the captains
I your team and the leaders of your football team
are doing that, you know, and just focusing on how
we get better and take the next steps. You know
(10:07):
that that that trickles down to everybody. That's my theory
with coaches, that's my theory with uh, with the leaders
of your football team. So everyone just you know, this
isn't all that different than you know, last year going
through these things as well. You buckle down, you find solutions,
you find answers to the to the problems, and you know,
(10:28):
you get and you work yourself to get better from that.
That's what it's about. That's how you grow. That's that's
a mental toughness thing. So obviously we're all we're all
going through that and and trying to get better. And
you know, great, we get to play a game tomorrow.
You don't have to sit with this loss that we
had on Sunday for too long. We get to go
(10:49):
out and play a game tomorrow. And we're really excited
about that.
Speaker 7 (10:54):
All right.
Speaker 3 (10:55):
So that was a good explanation Mike, of why a company.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
I don't it was.
Speaker 4 (11:02):
It was a long explain Yeah, it was. It was
a lot of words.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
What that was.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Word salad is a way to describe. It's like a
lot of words, but in a big bowl where you
could have dressing on it. Anyway, that's like a big salad,
you know. Anyway, it's like a sound anyway, Uh, you
heard the explanation there from Sirianni about the team meeting.
You have been through this before, including last year when
there was a similar sort of situation. The egos have
also started slow, sort of just like last year. What
(11:30):
do you make of this meeting? And how many yards
should people who have a J. Brown in fantasy bank
on Tomorrow night?
Speaker 1 (11:39):
I mean, I'm going to start them, but that's not
my expertise. Michael f Florio and Marcus Grant these are
the guys that re lean on on that part. But
I will say this, there's a lot of talk about
how defenses are playing Jalen Hurts that zone and that's
screwing things up and ruining the communication maybe between him
and a J. Brown, the timing and all this stuff.
Ian The Giants this season have played man coverage, according
(12:01):
to the NFL research, on forty seven point two percent
of the snaps one hundred and ninety two attempts two
hundred twelve dropbacks. Where do you think that ranks in
the NFL? And take a shot, uh, seventeenth number one.
They are the highest percentage of man coverage in the league. Now, look,
(12:22):
it's a short week, but sometimes that's.
Speaker 7 (12:24):
A good thing.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
We don't know why that's a good thing because you
don't have time to overthink your game plan. You sort
of go to what you're comfortable with, maybe a little
banged ups. Let's let's feel really comfortable about what we're
doing on offense, who we are, what our identity is. Okay, great,
you got that. You also got a team that you've
played really well against the last couple of years. AJ
Brown's had some games against the Giants. You've also got
man coverage. Like this is it, Like Sidefeld told Banya,
(12:49):
this is the meal. This is the week where AJ
Brown has got to go off. And as long as
you block it up up front, you're gonna get those matchups,
those fifty to fifty balls that you're comfortable throat that
man on man coverage. Unless the Giants just completely go left,
turn here and give you a lot of his own. It's
gotta happen this week, especially after the powwow.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
All right, so we went from salad like word salad
to bangya to soup. So that was a pretty good
It's actually dinner time, so this actually all all does
make a lot of sense. So here's what I would
say for the Philadelphia egles. I don't know what Aj
Brown's going to do tomorrow. I really don't. But for
the Eagles to get together and this is not like
sort of the players only meaning that unfortunately, like teams
(13:30):
like the Mets end up doing and you know, you
come out and you still kind of slide. This is
the kind of thing that the Eagles did proactively seem
to be more of an organic type deal.
Speaker 4 (13:39):
Their stars get together and say this is just.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
Not good enough.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
The Eagles did do it last year, and then when
the offense started slow, all we did was see them
just reel off a bunch.
Speaker 4 (13:48):
Of wins and go all the way to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
I don't know if that's going to happen here, but
at least their heads in the hearts are in the
right place where they can have this sort of extended
conversation rather than let it fester, let it boil, and
then just explode on the field.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
This is the right approach.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
We'll see if it works, but at least approach and
ideas they.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
Did it right. Yeah, I didn't listen to anything you
said because I'm just looking at your thumb. You're not
getting out of here without explaining what the heck happened?
To your thumb. You don't have to do it now.
That's a tease. We can hit it down the line,
don't worry about it. Keep it, save it, save it
for later in the show. I'm sure it's a very
very interesting story. Baker Mayfield, he is always interested interesting.
Excuse me when he's out there on the field playing
(14:27):
the way that he does. Are we doing Baker Mayfield?
Speaker 7 (14:30):
Folks?
Speaker 1 (14:31):
I think so?
Speaker 7 (14:33):
The sun shines frankly of the Pacific Northwest.
Speaker 8 (14:36):
Buccaneers where the ringsickle oranginal woints.
Speaker 7 (14:41):
Dropping Mayfield wants to go deep looks toward the ends off.
Speaker 8 (14:43):
The soults hand away Makefield lazy right in his left.
Baker Mayfield was just as hot as he's doing the
entire ballgame.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Do you ever allow yourself after a four and one
start to think about the opportunities that might be ahead
for this franchise this season?
Speaker 9 (15:10):
That's rat poison, Ira, that's a rat poison right there.
No folks on the next opponent. Individual accolades and recognition,
you never have it on your own. This is the
greatest team sport for a reason. So always trying to
remind myself that and realize that you can't do without
the guys next to me.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
How about Baker Mayfield going full Nick Saban? What the
rat poison right there?
Speaker 10 (15:34):
YEA love it.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
Steve Wwich, Brian Baldinger along for the ride here on
the Insiders as the forty nine Ers and Buccaneers meet
on Sunday and Tampa should be a really good game
considering how well these teams have played of late. Bald
to give me the XO on this Buccaneers Baker offense.
Speaker 11 (15:50):
Well, I love the offense because they attack. They attack
every week. The attack tyfically depending on who's available. Mike
Evans isn't available, Bucky Irving wasn't available last week. But
they got the ball down the field to their playmakers
and they're getting healthier up front for him to do that.
When you look at this play right here, it comes
to rookie Ted Johnson in motion. He's going to come
(16:11):
all the way to the outside. The two inside slot
receivers they're they're they're going vertical. They're going to take
three or four Seattle defenders with them, and it's going
to open up this window right in the middle, and
Baker's going to fire it right to the rookie Ted Johnson,
big chunk, big game right there. Now, you watch it
right here, and it certainly helps that Tristan Wurf's is.
Speaker 10 (16:30):
Back at left tackle, not just back, but dominant. Okay.
Speaker 11 (16:33):
And then you get Britison back at left guard and
Graham Barton at center. And now Baker's got time. He's
got time for those plays to develop. Now, this is
a book up this rookie. He leads the National Football
League in yards per catch, but he is an unbelievable
route runner.
Speaker 10 (16:50):
He gets separation almost every single route.
Speaker 11 (16:52):
Baker loves to feed him right now, fifth touchdown catch
of the season. And then Baker, for much of the
seasons played behind a bunch of backup offensive linemen.
Speaker 10 (17:02):
He can do this. He can get outside the pocket.
Speaker 11 (17:04):
He's looking to throw first, but he'll run second, and
he'll throw a dagger in. You just escape in the
pocket when he gets dirty sometimes. And then just getting
Tristan Wurf's back, getting Graham Barton back like on the perimeter.
Speaker 10 (17:17):
Now watch wharfs.
Speaker 11 (17:18):
He not gonna get just one guy leading Rashad Whiteen's
the end zone. He's going to get two. Like it's
a Macy Dale holiday. You know, sale right there, two
for one, he gets two. It's just a fun offense
to watch. They've got athletic linemen. Baker is on top
of his game, They've got playmakers. No matter how many
different offensive coordinators keep passing through Tampa, the offense just
(17:41):
continues to click.
Speaker 7 (17:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
Jaskerzard the guy right now doing a great job there.
The early returns fantastic on him. I mean, he was
in the house already, so they knew what they had
in him, and we're confident he'd be a great oc.
The Bucks a game and a half up on the Falcons,
Plus they already beat them once already, so this is
the meat of their schedule right now, the tough games
they can keep winning. These games really build a cushion there.
We could talk about more than just their division wish.
(18:05):
At the other end of this game, the forty nine
ers coming off that impressive Thursday game, plus they get
some extra time to rest, although didn't really result in
at least for the first day of the practice week,
any of the key guys coming back. Brock Perty, Ricky Pierso,
and Juwan Jennings all did not practice. So is it
Mac Jones again, is that the way we're looking for
San Francisco.
Speaker 12 (18:24):
It looks like he's going to be mac Jones, and
he was limited because of that knee.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
Remember he had a gimping.
Speaker 12 (18:28):
Knee going into that game against the Rams.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
He aggravated it in that game.
Speaker 12 (18:31):
But Baldy Matt Jones is going to be the latest
on the buccaneer schedule to try to do the Baker
Mayfield type redemption tour. And Baker's already vanquished justin Fields
and Sam Darnold.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
But Mac Jones.
Speaker 12 (18:44):
He's got something going, especially with that guy.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
Number eighty four, Kendrick Bourne.
Speaker 12 (18:47):
Let's not forget last week against the Rams thirty three
or forty nine, three hundred and forty two yards, two touchdowns.
They are not being bashful as asking mac Jones to
manage the three games that he started, averaging about forty
three passes a game in those three games.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
And his relationship in connection with Kendrick Bourne we spent
three years with in New.
Speaker 12 (19:09):
England, is a huge part of that.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
But the bigger part of that is Christian McCaffrey.
Speaker 12 (19:14):
With him being back in the lineup, that makes it
a tough matchup against his Buccaneers defensive guys expect another
shootout because his forty nine ers defense is still not
getting pressure on quarterbacks. Remember Matthew Stafford through for almost
four hundred yards. But they are forcing takeaways and that
is something that should come into play in which should
be a great game.
Speaker 7 (19:33):
Against the Buccaneers.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
One of these first placed teams is gonna be five
and one. Barring Attie, please no more Tis, but one
of these teams is going to be five and one.
Put themselves in control not only in their division, but
making noise in the NFC. Brian Baldinger, Steve Weisch, thank
you very much. Elsewhere in Florida, Trevor Lawrence, We're gonna
go down to Jacksonville to our guy Bucky Brooks, who
knows all things Jaggs to talk about. Is this Jaguars
(19:58):
four and one team? Another four and one team? Yeah,
they for real. Bucky will be along later to talk that.
But up next, Jon Robinson, the Falcons running back. Falcons
do everything running back gonna join us the tuck Falcons
offense and everything he's able to do offensively. Plus the
pronunciation of his first name Jeonjeah.
Speaker 13 (20:26):
Michael from a pocket back on your side.
Speaker 7 (20:28):
Here's Robinson, you get.
Speaker 13 (20:29):
The first down, forty thirty five thirty push on twenty
five to twenty fifteen.
Speaker 8 (20:40):
Here's a fifty yard past and but Sean Robinson outfit
there he gets hit fifty yards.
Speaker 7 (20:47):
But what a way to start the year.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
Hard not to smile watching those highlights, and very excited
to talk to the subject of those highlights right here.
Welcome inside with the Insiders. B Jeon Robinson, Falcons Pro
Bowl running back Bijon, thank you very much for joining us.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
We appreciate you.
Speaker 3 (21:10):
Before we start, my good friend Steve Weiss, who also
joins us, has a little bone to pick with you.
Speaker 1 (21:17):
You know what, you know what's coming right now.
Speaker 12 (21:20):
You We watched a lot of true crime stories and
stuff in our lives. Right everybody, there's a saying when
they read the Miranda rights, what you say can and
be and will be used against you.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
Roll the tape.
Speaker 12 (21:34):
Yeah, properly give us the pronunciation of your name, all right?
Speaker 13 (21:39):
How you pronounce my name is Bjon for everybody that's
that's out there. I know a lot of people say Bjeon, but.
Speaker 7 (21:49):
It's bj Robinson. University of Texas. Do one more time,
just doing Texas Okay.
Speaker 13 (21:56):
B Jehn Robinson Texas, Jeonn Robinson.
Speaker 12 (22:01):
Texas Okay, tiebreaker, dude, it's time.
Speaker 7 (22:06):
What is it? I said?
Speaker 13 (22:08):
How I said? All my life is Jon? But yes,
like I get it. This this became a big thing
after that. I'm glad the topic. But yeah, man, just
Bejon or however you want to say it, like, however
makes you happy.
Speaker 7 (22:25):
I'm going I'm good.
Speaker 10 (22:28):
What Robor makes you happy?
Speaker 7 (22:29):
Again?
Speaker 12 (22:30):
Jon, We appreciate you spending some time with us today,
and the floor is back to yours.
Speaker 7 (22:35):
I approved my point. Yes, yes, sir.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
Hey what look, as long as we're saying your name,
there's something good happening.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
I'm want to talk about your Atlanta Falcons. You guys
two and two. You came off last week a really
tough one, right, You lose the Panthers, shut out, You
come back the next week, beat the Commanders. What do
you learn about yourself your team going through those last
couple of weeks?
Speaker 7 (22:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 13 (22:59):
Man, I mean after that Panthers lost, Like I think,
I think God does everything for a reason, man, and
that really brought us together a lot closer as just
as a team, as a as a coaching staff, everything,
Like we had to re you know, re get ourselves together.
We have to you know, put ourselves in you know
a way that we lost, got shut out as an offense.
Speaker 7 (23:21):
So you know, we went back to.
Speaker 13 (23:23):
The drawing board, the mining details of what we're trying
to do and how we're trying to become as not
just an offense, but as a team. And I think
it really did help us out, you know during that
week of you know, just us feeling that hurt, us
feeling like man like, you know, we really just lost
this game, you know, in an embarrassing way.
Speaker 7 (23:42):
But you know, I think that that kind of performance
makes teams stronger.
Speaker 13 (23:46):
And you know, I know it's early in the season,
so for us to come back how we did against
the Commanders like that showed a lot of heart, That
showed a lot of grit, That showed a lot of
just what we want to do and what we're trying
to become throughout the whole season.
Speaker 7 (23:57):
So you know, I really I really come in our guys.
Speaker 13 (23:59):
But now we have to look at it one game
at a time and make every game of super Bowl
instead of just like going in and you know, just
you know.
Speaker 7 (24:07):
Not not being opully prepared for every single game.
Speaker 12 (24:11):
But John, we know how talented the personnel is on
this offense. Do you think with that last performance against Washington,
you guys are bringing it all together because stacked in
the backfield, stack, the quarterback stack, the wide receiver, stacked.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
At the offensive line.
Speaker 12 (24:25):
Do you think it's all coming together or it's still
a work in progress.
Speaker 13 (24:29):
Yeah, man, I thought it's coming together. And for us, like,
you know, I'm really proud of the old line. You know,
without those guys, like we couldn't get anything going and
for their performance to be what it's been up to
this point, Like you know, those.
Speaker 7 (24:44):
Guys are you know, near and.
Speaker 13 (24:46):
Dear to my heart, all five six of them, including
Charlie and Kyle and Teeking. So like, you know, it's
good to see how we're growing all over the field,
and you know how comfortable our skill players are getting,
how confident our skill player are getting. But it starts
with those guys, and I feel for us, like, yeah,
we had a bye week at the right times because
(25:06):
we've got to assess ourselves and assess what we're trying
to do for the rest of the season.
Speaker 7 (25:10):
So it's been good, man.
Speaker 3 (25:14):
So One of the cool things that the Falcons do
is when you have some ridiculous run or catch and
run or whatever, it will show the video from the roof.
I'm sure you've seen it. It usually goes viral. They're awesome.
What do you think when you see one of those shots?
And I mean, how much how much do you like
you know, is that something you scoring, Okay, this is
(25:36):
going to look good on the overham camera.
Speaker 4 (25:37):
How much of you you thought about that?
Speaker 7 (25:40):
Yeah?
Speaker 13 (25:40):
So the guy that started all this, his name is
Austin Hittell. He's our guy with the video work. He's
one of the best in the business. And how he
does it. And I know, like a lot of teams
have been, you know, taking his methods and trying to
do it their own way. But every time I see
him do that, like Austin, I don't know how because
(26:02):
if you've been in our stadium obviously you guys, you know,
seeing our stadium, like he's on the roof, like he's
on the top, top level, and that was scared of
the mess out of me, Like I would not want.
Speaker 7 (26:10):
To go there myself.
Speaker 13 (26:12):
So for him to go out there and capture all
those moments, capture the game in such an electric way.
Speaker 7 (26:17):
It's like a movie es way. Not really give him.
Speaker 13 (26:20):
Props for doing all that, man, So uh yeah, when
I see those videos, I'm like, this is incredible.
Speaker 7 (26:26):
I don't know how you do it. Keep on doing it.
But yeah, he's very talented.
Speaker 13 (26:32):
And he really does make the game feel like you're.
Speaker 7 (26:35):
Really in it with us. He does make those videos.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
Jah.
Speaker 12 (26:38):
I think the one question a lot of people really
had about the Falcons throughout the early part of the
season was how is this young defense going to come together?
And we know they took the two first round draft
picks at the edge, but it's been your two rookie
dbs who have jumped off the page.
Speaker 1 (26:52):
We've seen Xavier.
Speaker 12 (26:52):
Watch when the defensive rookie year of the Month, you know,
Billy Bowman, they're playing that nickel safety, that nickel corner who's.
Speaker 1 (26:59):
Really jumped off a page.
Speaker 12 (27:00):
What about the way those players and the entire defense
have started to come together.
Speaker 14 (27:05):
Man, It's it's it's special to watch.
Speaker 7 (27:08):
You know. We saw that training camp.
Speaker 13 (27:09):
I saw you know, those guys just continue to keep learning,
con see to keep getting better every single time they've
been on that field. And I think their confidence is
is at a different different level. You know, Brick de coordinator,
like he's he's already on on on ten every practice.
You know, high energy, high energy guy, very smart. So
(27:29):
for them to take that information and run with it.
Speaker 7 (27:33):
And you know, all four of them are making an impact.
Like it's not just one. It's not just one.
Speaker 13 (27:37):
Here, like all four are are very effective on the
football field.
Speaker 7 (27:41):
And just make it better. So you know, shout out to.
Speaker 13 (27:45):
Xavier for winning the Rookie of the Month, like you know,
but he deserves it because he just worked so hard
in practice. He asked questions. He wants to know better
himself all over that field. But it's all for them guys.
They they're very impactful and I'm happy they're on my team.
Speaker 7 (28:00):
I'd be young.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
Last thing from us.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
We see the bottles in the background over both of
your shoulders.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
Tell us about your partnership with Colgate.
Speaker 13 (28:09):
Yeah, so I'm very happy to you know, be a
partner with Colgate. You know, this is one that's near
and dear to my heart. You know, it's the total
active prevention system. So you know it comes with the toothbrush,
the toothpaste, and the mouth washed all three in one
and you know, it's just a very amazing product to
be with only because you know myself, I smile a
(28:31):
lot and I bring a lot of joy to people.
So you know, it's very important for my teeth and
my order oral health to be you know, at an
all time high. So being a partner with them has
been been amazing. It has been incredible. And on tomorrow
for Thursday Night Football.
Speaker 7 (28:47):
Where they view with the commercial for everybody to see.
Speaker 13 (28:50):
And you know, I hope it makes people happy, makes
people smile, and maybe they can get them some Colgate
so the active Division system as well, So it'll be
it's gonna be pretty cool man, And I.
Speaker 7 (29:00):
Wait for it for a baby Bom.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
Have a great stuff.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
Bejeon, keep smiling, keep making people smile with your playing,
your order and everything else.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
Really appreciate you joining us and the insiders.
Speaker 4 (29:12):
Good luck on Sunday on throughout the rest of the season.
Speaker 7 (29:15):
Yeah, appreciate you guys all. We're talking to you all.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
The NFL's International Series continues in London, presented by net
app Bo Nicks and the Broncos versus Sauce Gardner and
the Jets Sunday, nine thirty am Eastern only on NFL
Network and streaming with NFL Plus subscription required for NFL Plus,
visit plus dot NFL dot com, or turns time now
(29:41):
for me to get rid of that accent. Good coverage
also presented by Progressive Insurance. Jaguars linebacker Devin Lloyd's ninety
nine yard.
Speaker 15 (29:49):
Pick six last week against the Chiefs is not only
the long defensive touchdown and franchise history for the Jaguars,
but the longest pick six by any linebacker in a
regular season game in NFL history. The Jaguars lead the
NFL with fourteen takeaways and forty eight points off takeaways.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
In twenty twenty five, Trevor under center, So you slip
that he fell down. Trevor fell down on the play.
Speaker 10 (30:17):
Now he's gonna try.
Speaker 16 (30:18):
And run in touchdown. Trevor ran it in, He ran
it in touchdown. He got up, he fell down to
the flag in the end zone. It's against Kansas City.
Trevor Lawrence read it in touchdown Jacksonville with twenty three
seconds to go.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
Frank Franzie on the call for Jaguars Or Radio to
play by play guy there. Bucky Brooks also a part
of that crew, and a part of our family here
in NFL Network. So Bucky, come on in, let's talk Jaguars.
This is an exciting start for Duval and for Trevor Lawrence,
Liam Cohen and all the Jaguars. I mean, is this
team for like? That's the question I keep getting asked.
(31:01):
That's the one I've got myself. Is this team for real?
Speaker 7 (31:04):
Yeah?
Speaker 17 (31:04):
I think this team is for real, and I think
it starts at the top. Limpoon has done a really
good job of setting the standard for the Jaguars, and.
Speaker 14 (31:11):
He's talked about toughness.
Speaker 17 (31:13):
He's talked about situational awareness and smarts in those pressure situations.
But more importantly I can tell you when I talk
to the players, is the connectivity between the team player
the player.
Speaker 14 (31:25):
Coach to player, coach to coach. This team is well connected.
Speaker 17 (31:28):
And as much as I want to say that the
X and z os, the x's and os have changed,
has really been the vibe amongst the team that has
really changed. This team is holding each other accountable. It
shows up in their play. In a game in which
I don't think they played very well, they found a
way to win it. It's all about the toughness, the guts,
the energy, but really the chemistry and connectivity that have
(31:51):
helped the Jaguars race out.
Speaker 14 (31:53):
To a four and one start.
Speaker 1 (31:55):
Don't forget what Anthony Capanelli has done with this defensive
defensive coordinator. I saw one of the NFL social channels
maybe was the NFL Film's account on Instagram, brought back
his speech to the Dolphins players when they had hard
knocks a couple of years ago. I can't repeat half
of it here and they had to bleep out half
of it, but please do go check it out to
see what kind of attitude he is bringing to Jacksonville
(32:15):
that he's head for his entire coaching career. Buck, you
don't go anywhere you're coming back? Who what a thunk it?
Speaker 3 (32:23):
Jared Goff is two and oh against Patrick Mahomes of
better numbers. I have to be honest, I had did
not have that on my big callo though. To be honest,
they're also pretty close. I mean the zero to two
versus two and zero. That's not the coast. Everything else
is pretty close. Both pretty good quarterbacks. I expect an excellent,
excellent showing on Sunday night in this huge showdown Welcome
(32:44):
back in with the insiders. Baldy, Bucky, thank you for
hanging around and hanging out with us. Baldy, I want
to start with you. You have done a ton of studying
of this Detroit Lions offense, dug deep into the tape.
Speaker 11 (32:59):
What if you well, I did them last week in
their victory against Cincinnati. So I mean the first thing, visually,
the operation is very crisp. I mean the motions, the shifts.
They don't have pre snap penalties, big plays aren't coming
back because of the stuff they've done all right. Now
the offense has a rhythm and a timing to it
all right.
Speaker 10 (33:19):
Jared Goff is under center a great deal.
Speaker 11 (33:21):
They actually run it more than they throw it with
David Montgomery and Jamior Gibbs, so it's run based, heavy
play action. They take their shots, They clear out the
middle of the field for Aman Ross Ain't Brown to
go in just the way you would clear out for
Steph Curry in a one on one. They get all
that done. And then last week they're playing a kid
from the University of British Columbia, Giovanni Maneux. He's never
(33:43):
played before. He's starting at left tackle for him, and
although he gave up a couple of plays. They had
a plan for how he would operate and how we
would function, and so now they're breaking in all these
different offensive lineing from a year ago.
Speaker 10 (33:57):
They fix that. Johnny Morton can still do the creative part.
Speaker 11 (34:01):
You saw the half back pass from David Montgomery to
brock Right. They still do some of that, but it
is just a very crisp and good operation right now
where the ball gets spread out to all of their targets.
Speaker 4 (34:14):
Crazy Ben Johnson leaves gets a great job.
Speaker 1 (34:17):
They may be.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
Better, at least just as good. On the other side,
Bucky not quite as good. The Kansas City Chiefs off
to the first two and three start since twenty twenty one.
Speaker 4 (34:27):
What have you seen from Kansas City?
Speaker 17 (34:31):
You know, look, I think this is a team that
is much better than their record indications. And I know
Bill Parcel says, you are what your record is. But
when I'm sitting there field up watching Kansas City Chiefs,
Xavier Worthy coming back has allowed them to have an
explosiveness that they hadn't had in a few weeks. His
ability to really take the top off the defense but
make big plays on his own accord opens up the
(34:52):
field for other guys, Juju Smith, Schuester, Travis Kelsey, Taklan
Thornton showing up and making big plays down the field.
Speaker 14 (34:59):
They're running the ball effected. They got brasharwe Smith involved.
Speaker 17 (35:02):
They still have Isaiah Pacheco, and then Pat Mahomes is
still playing at a very high level.
Speaker 14 (35:07):
What he has to.
Speaker 17 (35:08):
Do though, he has to do so much with his feet,
extending plays and doing those things. And then defensively, Stage
Bagnulo gives them a chance because he will diwload pressure
from anywhere.
Speaker 14 (35:19):
So ignore the record and go by the field.
Speaker 17 (35:22):
When I feel the Kansas City Chiefs being in the
game with them, they're still just as scary as ever.
They just don't have the wins on the resume yet.
But man, they're close. They're close to being that team
that everybody fears. Just be careful, don't dismiss the Kanzita
Chiefs right yet.
Speaker 3 (35:38):
I mean history is shown at the end. The Chiefs
or at least be around. We will see this year
and so much look forward to Sunday night. Guys, thank
you so much for hanging out with us on the Insiders.
Speaker 1 (35:49):
Excellent, excellent stuff. He was your perfect fantasy lineup for
week five started a CJ strout against the Ravens. Rico
d I mean, if you had Rico Dawdle in your life, up,
come on, no way, A J. Barner has another one. There,
here's your imperfect lineup. I'm sure a lot of you did.
I all right, raise my hand. You got me what
(36:09):
he marks? He was in my lineup? I was very imperfect,
very imperfect. I hear you laughing. Marcus Grant time to
bring him in for a segment.
Speaker 13 (36:18):
We like to.
Speaker 1 (36:18):
Call Marcus my words, Marcus his words, because he's Marcus.
I'm Mike, that's Ian. And we're going to talk about
week six fantasy sleepers, starting with a guy that probably
really isn't a sleeper anymore because Rico Dalo. I guess
maybe there's still a little you know, is he gonna
wind up being the guy? Is he a sleeper? You
tell me, Marcus, you know, I mean, we might.
Speaker 18 (36:40):
Be stretching the term a little bit here, but you know,
for the purpose of this segment, he's going to be
a sleeper this week. I mean, I think it's more
about just a guy that you maybe you weren't thinking
about at the start of the season or even thinking
about before last week to put in your lineup. You
saw the two hundred plus rushing yards against the Dolphins.
Speaker 7 (36:56):
I loved it.
Speaker 18 (36:56):
Afterwards he told the Cowboys to buckle up in what
looks like a true revenge game there. Now, obviously this
is contingent on Chewba Hubbard not playing, although it looks
like he's trending in the wrong direction. But the Cowboys
with the twenty third ranked run defense giving up the
sixth most fantasy points per game to the running back position,
not to mention the fact that Dawdle had four targets,
so a little bit involvement in the passing game as well.
(37:18):
So if it is his gig for this week, he
should absolutely be in fantasy lineups.
Speaker 3 (37:23):
Yeah, there were a bunch of running backs thrust into
the spotlight because of an injury. Once you could be
another running back sleeper for this week.
Speaker 10 (37:31):
Let's go with Rashad White.
Speaker 18 (37:32):
He is one of those guys that sort of got
thrust to the forefront after the injury to Bucky Irving.
But it's not like he hasn't been a lead back before.
I mean he was back in twenty twenty three when
he had three hundred touches and more than fifteen hundred
scrimmage yards. The Niner defense did just enough to get
the win against the Rams last week, but they still
gave up nearly five yards per carry, sort of middle
of the pack when it comes to stopping the run.
(37:53):
Three different running backs have had a top fifteen weekly
finish against San Francisco and what could be a really
entertaining back and forth game. I think Rashod White, you
get a lot of touches and put out a pretty
good fantasy number.
Speaker 1 (38:04):
All right, let's go to the receiver position and give
us a sleeper out there. Marcus Ceteraal McMillan.
Speaker 18 (38:09):
I feel like we haven't given him enough love for
what he's doing this season. We're talking about a lot
of other rookies. His name doesn't come up as much,
but he's a top twenty five fantasy receiver despite not
having a touchdown yet this year and being in a
bottom ten passing offense, but a twenty five percent target share,
more than forty percent of.
Speaker 7 (38:26):
The air yards.
Speaker 18 (38:27):
And again we're going back to picking on that Dallas
defense giving up the most receiving yards and touchdowns to
wideouts this year. We saw last week where it was
justin fields and Garrett Wilson doing some work late in
the fantasy game. They don't ask how, they ask how many.
So whether they come earlier they come late, they count
all the same. And with that kind of volume tech,
McMillan is set up to have some good success this week.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
I hit all the skill guys have not hit tight
end yet.
Speaker 4 (38:51):
Once you give me a tight end sleeper, but we'll
let you out of here.
Speaker 18 (38:54):
I'm gonna go with David and Joku and watching that
game last week with Dylan Gabriel making his first start,
they set the offense up to make sure that David
and Joku was a nice, big target in the middle
of the field and a lot of sort of high
percentage areas for Dylan Gabriel to get the ball to.
He likes his tight ends because about forty percent of
his throws last week went to either David and Joku
or Harold fannin junior. The Steelers not great against the
(39:17):
tight end position, giving up these seventh most Fantasy points
per game to the position. This is going to be
a low volume, sort of short yardage passing offense. I
think when they're looking to throw the ball kind of
that short to intermediate part of the field. That's where
David and Joku lives and I think he's going to
eat this week.
Speaker 1 (39:32):
There it is Marcus Grant. Marcus his words, and for
more of his words and for more sleepers, check out
NFL dot com Backslash Sleepers. Marcus Grant, thank you very much.
Hopefully my fantasy team doesn't give you a reason to
laugh next week, going to try our best. You want
to find the Insiders, here's where you can do it
every single day of the week. We added one up
top there, the NFL channel on Fast TV now going
(39:56):
to carry us on Monday, the network, Tuesday, Wednesday, and
Friday tomorrow. We're on Fast Channel as well as well
as YouTube. Look, you want to cheat NFL Plus, that's
where you can find us.
Speaker 7 (40:08):
Mostly.
Speaker 1 (40:09):
That is where you find the Insiders each and every
single day. We got one more segment of the show
to come, and it's story time with Ian Rappaport and
not just about his thumb. That's next to the Insiders.
Two down, two to go. In this stretch of four
(40:30):
straight Sunday morning international games right now for the NFL,
the Broncos and the Jets this Sunday at nine thirty
a m. Eastern. This is presented by NetApp Bonix and
the Broncos Sauce Gardener in the Jets. Tune in at
seven am Eastern four am Pacific for our coverage here
(40:50):
on NFL Network. That's when it'll begin. That's when Ian
Rapaport will be there with me. But Ian gets, you know,
during the week, he gets his time to chill, tell
us what's happening. So that's me on the golf course.
Speaker 3 (41:03):
Uh, that's me breaking the news that Joe Flacco has
been traded the Bengals.
Speaker 1 (41:08):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (41:08):
So I get the text, I get on social media.
Speaker 1 (41:12):
I process what's happening.
Speaker 3 (41:13):
I tweeted out as fast again through my golf club everywhere,
and it's like a pause in my golf get and
I'm playing with two guys that I had never met
before right until we started playing. So I do some
stuff on my phone. They're like, come on, we got
to play on my iPhone. We get to the next
hole and they go what happened? And I go, oh,
Joe Flacker got traded. The Bengals guy looks at his
phone and he goes, yeah. The guy from NFL Network
(41:35):
just put it out and I go, that's you. That
was me, Yeah, that's he goes, huh weird, that is
my story. It was very strange.
Speaker 1 (41:46):
Is that how you? Is that how you hurt your thumb?
You just you know, a little too hard on the stend.
Speaker 3 (41:52):
Uh No, I hurt my thumb by reaching into the
drawer for a carrot peeler and instead of reaching the handle,
reaching right.
Speaker 1 (41:58):
Into the teeth.
Speaker 14 (41:59):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (42:00):
Interestingly, nets to bleed a lot, a lot.
Speaker 1 (42:04):
I'm okay though, I'm okay, yeah, all right. He'll be
back tomorrow.
Speaker 13 (42:09):
M
