Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ceedee Lambs new running mate with the Cowboys, and his
expectations are already high for George Pickens. Here what Lamb
and Pickens are saying now from the early returns of
Double Trouble in doubts. The Cowboys, like everybody else, are
chasing the Eagles, who just locked up another big piece
of their Super Bowl run for the long haul? But

(00:22):
is there a dynasty in the making under Nick Sirianni
in Philadelphia? R Mark Ross will tell you what he
sees moving forward. YFC East also a good place to
find some fantasy phenoms as long as like Sir Jadon
Daniels are still around. Michael left Floria will be here
to tell you who's a draft diamond in that division
and who could be a disastrous dud. Welcome inside with

(00:46):
the Insiders alongside Ian Rappaport and Mike Garafolo. I am
Tom Peliicero. One hundred and eight days away from right now,
the NFL will be kicking off the twenty twenty five season.
Hill then, there's still some money that needs to be
thrown around, both for coaches and players. Let's start with

(01:06):
the latter out in San Francisco, where the forty nine
Ers have gotten another big deal done. This time it
is their star linebacker Fred Water, locked up on a
three year, sixty three million dollar contract extension. Fifty six
point seven million of that are guaranteed once again, making
Fred Warder the NFL's highest paid linebacker. This course, comes

(01:28):
just three days after they locked up Rock Perty had
a five year, two hundred and sixty five million dollar deal.
They also resigned George Skindell. Poor Kyle Eustek's down there
on the bottom two years, eight million. That's nothing to
sneeze at here in an offseason where they've moved on
for the likes of Deebo Samuel. They continue to pay
their core guys. So to the Eagles, who have basically
all their core players locked up. And now Nick Sirianni

(01:50):
is too. He was headed into the last year of
the original deal he signed back in twenty twenty one.
Now agree to terms on a multi year contract extension.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
I want to run.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
It's been for Nick Sirianni over the past four years,
four playoff appearances, two super Bowl appearances, and back in February,
Hoiston a Lombardi Trophy. Not bad in for a guy
that's so many people right up until like last January,
we're still trying to run out of town.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
That is the scariest, craziest thing about this entire situation.
It's not that Nick Sirianni got a contract extension. We
knew this was coming from owner jeffre Leury during the
annual league meetings essentially told us the deal was close
and he thought it would be done. Coach wins the
Super Bowl usually that leads to more money. This is
ritually deserved for Nick Sirianni. The wild thing though, to

(02:39):
go back a year a little more than a year ago,
had to replace both coordinators, leading to a season where
I think it's fair to say people wondered if he
would be on the hot seat. Some people put him
on the hot seat. Some people just didn't understand because
he's a coach who acts a little differently. Maybe trash
talks a little bit, Maybe his press conferences aren't the smoothest.
Underestimated the kind of leader that he is inside the

(03:01):
locker room.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
And here's what we've learned.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
But watching the Eagles reach a Super Bowl and then
win a Super Bowl under Nick Sirianni, he communicates with
his players as well as anyone. He gets them to
compete as well as anyone, and he gets them to
put their individual statistics aside what is best for the team.
And it all has led to unbelievable success for Nick
Sirianni and now a very richly deserved contract extension.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (03:27):
The other thing he does is he manages some tough personalities.
You can even include the quarterback in that one. Jalen Hurts.
He has had a great relationship with him and bridge
the gap between him and some of the offensive coaches
the last couple of years. As they coaches, they keep
turning over coordinators on both sides of the ball. Kevin
Patulo now going to be the play caller with Kellen
Moore headed elsewhere, and the Eagles confident that there will

(03:49):
be a smooth transition, in large part because of Sirianni,
who is.

Speaker 6 (03:52):
Not a play caller right like I know.

Speaker 5 (03:55):
And by the way, Howie Roseman got an extension recently,
not part of this one right here.

Speaker 6 (04:00):
How he's getting paid handsomely. Don't you worry about that?

Speaker 5 (04:03):
But the Eagles really believing in Nick Sirianni running the
whole operation, not a play caller, was hired as an
offensive mind, gave up that play calling early, but a
good job of being a head coach. There are coaches
that are on this staff that have been in the
NFL for decades and they tell me that Nick Sirianni
is the best head coach that they've ever been around,
and they've been around some really good ones. So Jeffrey
Lorie values him, Howie Roseman values in the organization values him,

(04:26):
and they showed it today with this extension that I
finally got done.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
The line everyone kept using was, well, what does he coach?
He doesn't coach anything. He coaches the team and that
has been a pretty successful formula for the Eagles over
the past four years. Here it certainly a popular decision
with the likes of Lane Johnson, who gave the old
double high five emoji or whatever. That thing is a
lot of excitement as the Eagles now try to turn
that into something more.

Speaker 6 (04:53):
You look at where right now.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Nick Sirianni ranks among the all time leaders in wins
in the first four seasons as a head coach.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Of course, George Seffert took over a.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
Very very good forty nine Ers team, Nick Siriani right
there behind him as we bring r. Mark Cross into
the conversation. Mark I mentioned now the Egle, see if
they can turn this into something more. They've got a
really talented team. Would you look at these Eagles from
now have their head coach locked in for years to come?
Do we have the possibility of a dynasty in the

(05:22):
making in Philadelphia?

Speaker 7 (05:24):
Wow?

Speaker 8 (05:25):
Dynasty might be a little bit strong a word. Let's say, Tom,
They'll be in the mix to win it every year
because of the talent that they have, the young talent
that they have. You just saw Howie Roseman talked about
his contract extension earlier and the masterful job that he's
done in drafting, in signing free agents, in extending his
own players that he has drafted. But really, when you

(05:47):
talk about dynasties, Tom, the two major ones are the
Patriots with Tom Brady and then the Chiefs, let's say,
with Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 6 (05:54):
So the two Goats.

Speaker 8 (05:56):
So I think, really, if you're going to consider them
a dynasty, it's about that guy right there, Aalen Hurts
and how much higher he can take his game and
elevate his game to say, you know what, I am
just as good as Mahomes. I'm as just as good
as Brady and really get into that top four of
right now. Burrow at Jackson and Josh Allen there in
Buffalo to say, yeah, I'm in the mix there because

(06:18):
if all the other talent, Howie Roseman continues to provide
that talent around Jalen, he raises his level. We see
Siriani can coach. They'll be in the mix. Might not
be the Dynasty, but they'll.

Speaker 7 (06:29):
Be in the mix.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Mark stick aroutd a lot more from you to come
here on this show. Everybody's always been Capedia's NFL players
for a Super Bowl win? How about a gold medal
as well? The Spring League meeting kicks off tomorrow. Owner
is going to be discussing a resolution that would allow
NFL players to participate in the twenty twenty eight summer
games that are set to take place in Los Angeles.

(06:53):
Ian There are some things that still need to be
worked out between the NFL and the NFL Players Association,
but there has been round enthusiasm about the idea of
NFL players taking this stage, and it certainly seems like
we are headed toward announcement tomorrow that this thing's really happening.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
Yeah, that really does seem like the way this is going,
that seems like the momentum toward getting this thing done,
getting NFL players to participate in the Olympics playing football.
I cannot believe these are real sentences that we are saying.
But this is really where we are, and this is
where the general feeling from the league is, and it's
not something that is I would say, is slam dunk.

(07:31):
As far as as the memos showed us like, there
are certainly things to discuss. For instance, as of right now,
would be one player per team, and then you could
also designate an international player. Well, what if more than
one player on your team warrant being on a certain team,
whether it's our country or another one, that would be
a question. What if a coach says to a player, Hey,

(07:52):
I know you're allowed to participate, but I'd really really
like for you not to. How do you deal with
that then? So there are certainly some things to work out.
Insurance is going to be handled by the NFL. Medically,
it's going to be fine, But what if a player
gets injured? How do you handle There are for sure questions,
But based on the kind of feel that I'm getting
from talking to people involved in this, it seems there

(08:14):
is a very good chance we see NFL players and
what's going to be during training camp playing five football
in the Olympics.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
Well, the timing seems to work out, at least for
twenty twenty eight, because my understanding is the tryout process,
which is going to be run by the individual countries federations,
that's going to take place in the spring. It's not
going to run counter to anything that's mandatory in the NFL.
If you look at the schedule of the summer games,
it's set to wrap up July thirtieth. My understanding is
the gold medal game probably is going to take place

(08:43):
prior to that, and so very little disruption, though still
again some conversations between the league and union to come up,
among other things, how long players would need off after
going through flight football in the Olympics.

Speaker 6 (08:55):
That's not the only.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
Thing on the docket, Mike, including several potential changes to
some things affecting this NFL season.

Speaker 5 (09:03):
Yes, the touch push, which was a hot debate at
the owners meetings in Palm Beach the annual meeting back
in March, now potentially going to be voted on. Remember
they tabled this back in March because they started to
get a little bit of support for this. Hey, by
the way, another reason we just talked about Syria, another
reason to extend Nick Siriani.

Speaker 6 (09:22):
He and his coaching staff came up with.

Speaker 5 (09:23):
A play that's so good they had to call it
a health issue to change it potentially and get it
out of the game, even though there's no data to
back up the fact that there is a health concern
on this one. But they called it a health issue,
which means at some point you've got to address it.
Otherwise later on somebody gets hurt and you said you
knew it was a health This union didn't take it
out of.

Speaker 6 (09:41):
The game, So we expect to vote here.

Speaker 5 (09:44):
Some of us don't agree with the logic that's been
presented to this point, and others are people You guys
are Meanwhile, I thought that's not your que Meanwhile, the
playoffs seating is going to be discussed as well.

Speaker 6 (09:57):
The Detroit Lions.

Speaker 5 (09:58):
This was also table to that you see it in
the playoffs by record solely, and not by who wins.

Speaker 6 (10:05):
A division or not of the division would be a tiebreaker.

Speaker 5 (10:08):
This was a bit of a surprise that it got
so much support because it's been presented in the past,
didn't have as much support this time, so it's coming
up once again. Could potentially be a change that's made
so the Vikings who were knocked down to a wild
card spot would be higher in the twenty twenty four
order if something like that happens again, And it would
also create some competition late in the season instead of

(10:31):
teams resting even if they won their division, potentially playing
and keeping those games competitive. Ian, I'll give you the
floor if you want to give a retort to the
touch push since I put you on the spot your.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
Call, yeah, I'll give you a really quick retort. Definitely
going to cause an injury. Not really a football play banning.
It makes a lot of sense.

Speaker 4 (10:49):
Go team Gum.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
One of the interesting things too, besides the fact we
normally don't get football rule changes in May, those generally
take place in March with the football people are in
the room.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
Well.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
Also, these are team proposals, so the teams control the
modified language. The NFL and the teams have not seen
what the Packers the Lions are going to bring forward.
That's going to take place most likely tomorrow afternoon. Also
look for potential changes to the on sidekick minor stuff,
tweaking the alignment, allowing teams potentially to declare anytime they're trailing,
not just in the fourth quarter. Only six percent was

(11:22):
converted last season, and on side kicks, they'd like to
get that number up just a little bit. Meanwhile, we've
got rookies and veterans getting onto the field around the NFL,
and one rather prominent rookie signed his rookie contract earlier today.
Sheduor Sanders, the fifth round pick by the Browns, sign
a four year, four point six million dollars deal. His
signing bonus four hundred and forty seven three and eighty

(11:45):
dollars to be exact. Marves and Harrison Junior was going
through his rookie contract situation a year ago at this time.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
Went through that rookie year put.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
Up some numbers that might seem a little bit underwhelming
for the first receiver off the board in a very
talented receiver group. Erison going into year two now has
made some changes, including buken up.

Speaker 9 (12:08):
I definitely put on some pounds.

Speaker 10 (12:09):
I think I had some muscles to my body A
little bit still just trying to see my body, uh,
you know, feels throughout OTAs and without training camp, more
so throughout OTAs and then kind of get a specific
way to settle in for training camp to go from there.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Derek Henry got a new contract two years and thirty
million dollars on that extension, twenty five fully guaranteed over
this season and next. He talked today about why he
signed that deal, which includes the guy who's been playing
with at quarterback.

Speaker 11 (12:43):
Well, he's just so dynamic and you got to count
from every single play and I are going to be
on him just you know about a player he is
with his arm and with his legs, and for me,
that makes me happy. So you know, I get more opportunities,
and you know, you know, they got to account for

(13:05):
for him. It's just as much as they account for me.

Speaker 6 (13:08):
Super Bowls fifty nine. Here we go, homes rolling out, looking, firing, intertercepting,
picked up a cooper, Desine, gets a bomb. Digine is
and touch down, holds his back, he fires over the
middle of the center, cepting the gun. The intercept the
fun black bomb look hurts plenty of times, he's looking

(13:31):
he fuck. He completes it. Touch down.

Speaker 12 (13:35):
Hurts, going deep, far off to the case Smith, Hey down, touchdown.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Wow, here's Maholmes.

Speaker 6 (13:44):
What's he got left?

Speaker 9 (13:45):
Pressure?

Speaker 12 (13:45):
All dat balls out?

Speaker 6 (13:49):
The Eagles have it.

Speaker 5 (13:50):
It's a very difficult feeling if you're Patrick not exactly
the way that he thought it would go.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
Tonight, for the second time, the Fins Little Barnie Trophy
is headed the Philadelphia up Eagles.

Speaker 6 (14:02):
Clive in Super Bowl fifty nine.

Speaker 1 (14:05):
The Eagles title defense begins one hundred and eight days
from tonight against a Dallas Cowboys team that's got a
new look and a new wide receiver who seems to
be getting along with this counterpart.

Speaker 6 (14:16):
Code number ones.

Speaker 13 (14:19):
Oh now we both want Yeah, it ain't no ab
None of that is one. You look over that, you
see one. You look over here, you see another one.
So do what you gotta do with that.

Speaker 14 (14:30):
Right now, I'm thinking about how I'm gonna hit the
home run.

Speaker 13 (14:33):
I ain't really seem We're trying to focus on how
we're going to dominate this enseoftball game. Every time we
want to feel we trying to dominate together.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
So right now we now I want to field for football.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
Appreciate George Pickens keeping his eye on the ball. Literally,
welcome back. To the insiders, Tom Pillar, Sarah Mark Ross's back.
Join now by Jeffrey Chadia. All right, let's start right here,
Jeffrey Eagles title defense this fall. If you're thinking about
the team that have a chance to dethrow them, who's
on that line list, Well, one.

Speaker 12 (15:01):
Of them has to be the team they saw in
the NFC Championship game, the Washington Commanders. And I love
what they've done this offseason, going out and getting Deebo
Samuel and Laramie Tunsel to help Jane Daniels. I love
the culture that winning coach that Dan Quinn created in
one year there.

Speaker 7 (15:17):
And I thought this.

Speaker 12 (15:17):
Team is not afraid of the Philadelphia Eagles. They beat
them down the stretch in the second half of the season.
They took a beating in the NFC Championship game, but
they are division rivals and so I feel like they're
going to be right there if they can avoid a
sophomore slump from this guy, Jay and Daniels and Mark.
It's been twenty one years since a team repeated his
champions in the NFC East.

Speaker 7 (15:37):
That has account for something here.

Speaker 8 (15:39):
Yeah, they're definitely whatever that is at the nc East there,
they're changing of the Guard every year, but you're right
on this one. I mean, we did see the Commanders
getting the breaks beat off of them by the Eagles
in that NFC championship game.

Speaker 6 (15:50):
So what do they do to get better?

Speaker 8 (15:52):
You think, well, glet's just go get a bunch of
pass rushers since I think they still need.

Speaker 6 (15:56):
But they really just double down.

Speaker 7 (15:57):
On the offense.

Speaker 6 (15:58):
She met Shendiebo Samuel.

Speaker 8 (16:00):
You mentioned Laramie Tunsel, and those are going to be major,
major upgrades. They got premier players at the position, and
at Deebo. We see anything like the Deebo that we've
seen over the last few years. That's just going to
give Jay and Daniels so much more firepower there to
go across Terry McClaren there, and it's got to be saying, hey,
we might not be able to stop your Eagles, but
let's just outscore you this year.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
A lot of people going into last season would have
said the team to beat in the NFC was the
Detroit Lions. They looked like it all the way until
a playoff flop to win against everything that we had seen.

Speaker 6 (16:32):
Where do they fit in the equation?

Speaker 12 (16:33):
This time around, Jeffrey, they wanted a team to beat,
and to me, they're still the best team in the
NFC to give Philadelphia a run for their money. This
was the number one seed in the NFC last year
going in, it wasn't the Philadelphia Eagles. And even though
they've lost both of their coordinators, you have to look
what they still have on the field with that guy
Jered Golf going to Almara Saint Brown and Jamison Williams.
A run game that's going to have Jamiir Gibbs and

(16:56):
David Montgomery once again running behind one of the best
offensive lines foot ball and getting back Aiden Hutchinson, the
only played in five games because of that broken leg,
is going to be a big boost to that defense.
So they are still very much in the picture. Mark
and I like that defense a lot with eight Hutchinson
coming back into the fold.

Speaker 6 (17:13):
Yeah, definitely. It's all about the injuries there with Detroit.

Speaker 8 (17:16):
I mean, they just could not sustain week in and
week out, losing one or two bodies, especially on that
defensive side led there by Aiden Hutchinson. You know, talked
about the Commanders getting beat down by the Eagles, Well,
the Commanders beat the Lions down. They couldn't stop the
Commanders and it starts ranked there, but also in the draft,
you know, they got an inside presence there and Tyler Williams,

(17:36):
a defensive tackle out of Ohio State who.

Speaker 7 (17:39):
I really love.

Speaker 8 (17:40):
So when you've got a big body inside that can
penetrate and you got Hutchinson coming from the outside, this
defense has to be better. And unfortunately, you know, fortunately
for them, you I doubt you'll see that many injuries
once again this year in Tom Jeffrey.

Speaker 1 (17:55):
You also have to look at the team that was
there at the end and quite frankly, look like they
belonged on the same field as the Eagles in the
Super Bowl. The Chiefs, they've gotten older at some spots
obviously here. How do you feel about their changes of
getting back to a fourth Super Bowl and facing the job?

Speaker 12 (18:12):
Well, I tell you, embarrassment and humiliation are great motivating factors,
especially for a team as proud as the Chiefs.

Speaker 7 (18:18):
And you're right, they took that beating.

Speaker 12 (18:19):
It was rough to watch, but Travis Kelsey came back
because he wanted to be He didn't want to go
out like that. Patrick Mahomes is still there and you
know what he's like, We've got chip on his shoulder
when he wants to prove people wrong.

Speaker 7 (18:30):
But more im quickly.

Speaker 12 (18:31):
They were able to hold on some key free agents
like Tray Smith, like Nick Bolton.

Speaker 7 (18:35):
But the big question here is the offensive line.

Speaker 12 (18:37):
Can they find a way to improve the left side
that was a huge issue all season. They brought in
Josh Simmons and through the draft, they brought in Jalen
Moore through free agency. If they could fix that line
that was a huge problem in that Super Bowl Mark,
they could be right back competing for Super Bowl once again.

Speaker 7 (18:54):
Yeah, no doubt.

Speaker 8 (18:55):
And last time we saw the Chiefs get beat this
bad as when they lost to the Bucks in that
Super Bowl. It was the same theme of they couldn't
block anybody, they couldn't block the Bucks. Well, now we
are fast forward to last year's Super Bowl and they
couldn't block the Eagles.

Speaker 6 (19:07):
So what do you do?

Speaker 8 (19:08):
You signed Jaylon Moore I think is serviceable, but not
the answer to me. It really hinges on Josh Simmons,
who getting him down there at the last pick of
the first round, who I thought had top ten type
talent and the talent to be a perennial Pro Bowl
left tackle. I thought he was the most gifted athletic
left tackle in the draft. So the sooner he can

(19:29):
get up and going, the better to protect Mahomes backside
and improve that whole offensive line.

Speaker 7 (19:35):
But you know he's not the only answer.

Speaker 6 (19:37):
The whole line is.

Speaker 8 (19:38):
The whole has to get better for what we saw
in that Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
One and more days to analyze and speculate before the
real games begin with the Eagles and the Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
Jeffrey Mark, thank you both very much.

But listen, if you watch those Buccaneers teams from the
early two thousands, you know who was getting after the
quarterback a double digit sack production seemingly every single year.
Right around that time that Super Bowl sime On Rice,

(20:37):
all one hundred and twenty two career sacks of him,
officially going into the Buccaneers Ring of Bonner November thirtieth,
fittingly against the Arizona Cardinals who.

Speaker 6 (20:45):
Drafted him back in nineteen ninety six.

Speaker 5 (20:47):
Simeon Rice now joining the Insider Simia, Congratulations, What kind
of emotions running through you right now with this news?

Speaker 14 (20:54):
There's totally I'm so thankful. I'm so appreciative as so
much more than just myself in the city of Chicago's
South Side Catholic League, Mount Carwell High School, Franklin. I mean,
the list goes on and on and on, University of Illinois,
I represent so much and I'm so thankful that I'm

(21:15):
able to honor my parents' name in the Ring of Honor.

Speaker 3 (21:21):
You know, when you were talking to reporters earlier today,
you got, I would say, kind of emotional talking about
your parents. I'm talking about where you came from, as
you just alluded to there, you have created an unbelievable
legacy for yourself, for the team, and obviously this latest
ring of honor. You know, only kind of hammers that

(21:41):
home do. These moments bring up some of those memories
and kind of take us through what was going through
your mind.

Speaker 14 (21:48):
Well, I'm sitting there and I have my son saying
with me he was twenty a half years old, little James,
and looking at the highlights and his eyes pop and
it just brings back It pills us, scabb what what
was my parents? That that was you know, that has
moved on. And it made me think of my pops
when he was on his deathbed. Just thinking about talking

(22:11):
to my pops, just talking about the Hall of Fame
and what it meant to him and at those moments
and these type of honors, and I'm like telling him,
don't worry about it, Pops. You know, I'm not worried
about those things. My career is what it is.

Speaker 4 (22:26):
I'm great. Because you think I'm great. You're like, no
to me, honest, much more than that. And I'm like nah.

Speaker 14 (22:31):
And I just hear it in the back of my
mind and I see it in my minds of my
pop's telling I told you so, and it just it's
it's a it's a it's something I really didn't want
to give the world.

Speaker 4 (22:42):
I really didn't, you know.

Speaker 14 (22:43):
But it's an abruption inside because it brings back the
memories of my mother and my father.

Speaker 4 (22:48):
It feels back a scab, you know that.

Speaker 14 (22:51):
I don't think because I dealt with that so stoically
my parents' death. I think it just was a culmination
like memories that brought back that is, their their lives
to life, and it just made me miss them in
this moment in regards.

Speaker 4 (23:08):
So I wish they could see this now.

Speaker 5 (23:11):
Yeah, and you go back at the coaches that you
played with. Monte Kiffen unfortunately passing away last year, a
guy that's no longer with us, but Tony Dungee I
believe he got one year with him, John Gruden as well.
You played for some legendary coaches and you played alongside
some unbelievable players.

Speaker 6 (23:30):
So to have your.

Speaker 5 (23:32):
Individual recognition, because that's what this is what this is
your individual recognition for what you did, for what you
were able to do to get after the quarterback.

Speaker 6 (23:41):
How much is that Because we know.

Speaker 5 (23:42):
What the with the team and what everybody as a
whole received, but for you to receive the individual honor, uh,
that's got to be a great feeling.

Speaker 14 (23:50):
Yeah, you know, it makes you think, yeah, I was him,
but I already thought that too, but I already knew
I was him, you know what I mean the momy.
Remember I came in nineteen ninety six, rookie the year,
and then I was all pro already in Arizona. What
I didn't have was the Super Bowl, and I was

(24:12):
able to get that in Tampa.

Speaker 4 (24:14):
So all of those things mean so much.

Speaker 14 (24:15):
But the thing that meant so much more now that
I didn't even think about at the time was the
fact that it's like for the organization that you played
for to honor you. It's like a father to a
son saying job well done. And it's so again, it's
so much more than just who I am, because I
can do this all day, but it's really about what

(24:37):
I represent. And I represent Class of ninety two. You know,
I represent the draft class of ninety six. I represent
again South Side Chicago, the Catholic League Chicago, the Catholic
League Football, Maltcarmo High School, University of Illinois, ch any

(25:00):
different guys that I've touched throughout my career and have
touched me, from the Eric Swan's to the.

Speaker 4 (25:09):
Eric Hughes. I mean guys that I played.

Speaker 14 (25:11):
Nia's Williams, guy that I play with and respect out
in Arizona to to hear. So it's just in retrospect
of all of that it comes with, that's all immersed
in that world of mine. It's like this metal world
of all the things that I am, Like, I'm all
all the people that I've met.

Speaker 4 (25:28):
In my life. I'm all of those people.

Speaker 14 (25:31):
I represent all of that, and it's with my father's name.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
That's awesome.

Speaker 9 (25:36):
Good for you.

Speaker 3 (25:37):
We get in before we I mean, let me just
jump it because I do want Mike to get some
thoughts on this year's team. This Bucks team one of
the I would say masterminds of the NFL, and Todd
Bowles obviously brought into Son Reddick to help off the edge,
like hopefully help like like.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
You did for that great defense.

Speaker 3 (25:54):
What do you think of this current Bucks team to
Rynasy in twenty twenty five.

Speaker 14 (25:58):
I don't want to spoke all that much, but I
know they get a dog at quarterback, you know, hu.

Speaker 4 (26:05):
I think Baker Mayfield is booming for a good great year.

Speaker 14 (26:09):
I think they have a great coach and Todd balls,
and I think they're do to do some really interesting things.

Speaker 4 (26:16):
They have a shot that they winning the whole thing
this year.

Speaker 14 (26:20):
You know, they have a great team, and as long
as those guys as a collective can come together and
do something brilliant, then something special is gonna happen.

Speaker 7 (26:28):
I think.

Speaker 14 (26:28):
I mean to me, if you finish, you know, in
terms of to win in a conference or something that
like like that, I think you you can pretty much
say you have a really dominant year. But to have
the best version of yourself, you got to win a
super Bowl, obviously, but to loom around, you know, NFC

(26:49):
championship something like that says a lot as well.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
And I think they, I think they're due for one
of those things.

Speaker 5 (26:57):
And listen for a guy who put the quarterback on
the ground at least with the ball one hundred and
twenty two times, sometimes without the ball as well, for
you to start with the quarterback and give him the
highest regards. I know that Baker Mayfield earned that compliment
right there from Simeon Rice. And who knows, maybe around
November thirtieth, that game against the Cardinals, when you are

(27:17):
honored and inducted into the Buccaneers Ring of Honor, we'll
be talking about a Buccaneers team that is in position
to make some noise in the postseason. We're looking forward
to that. We're looking forward to your induction. Simeon Rice.
Congratulations once again on this honor.

Speaker 4 (27:30):
It's great, thank you.

Speaker 3 (27:31):
If there really is no tush push that guy right there,
Sakuon Barkley only going to become more valuable in fantasy.
So let's get into it with our fantasy expert, Michael f.

Speaker 6 (27:42):
Florial. Florial, what's up? Give me the fantasy.

Speaker 3 (27:46):
Outlook for the Philadelphia Egles as we go right through
the nfcas but start with the champs.

Speaker 15 (27:53):
If Nick Sirianni as their head coach, and he is
always a very run heavy play caller, but that reached
new heights pun intended once they got Saquon Barkley last year.
And look, he's a rock solid early pick in fantasy,
but he did have over one hundred more touches last
year than his previous high, so.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
He brings some risk.

Speaker 15 (28:13):
That approach, though, does hurt Jalen Hurts, who looks more
rushing dependent than ever, so that toush push gets Bam.

Speaker 7 (28:20):
That hurts him.

Speaker 6 (28:20):
Because he threw for fewer than three.

Speaker 15 (28:23):
Thousand yards and twenty touchdowns last year. You would think
that hurts the wide receivers right, Nope. Aj Brown on
a seventeen game pace was going for almost fourteen hundred
yards his usual numbers. He is a very solid round
two pick. DeVonta Smith gave you his usual numbers. He
is a rock solid water receiver too in the middle
rounds of drafts.

Speaker 6 (28:42):
Dallas Goddard we know has talent, but two years.

Speaker 15 (28:45):
In a row now he's been the forgotten man in
this offense.

Speaker 3 (28:48):
You can't trust that in fantasy, no, But if he
stays healthy, might see a resurgence of Dallas. Gotta put
more on that as we get closer. All right, let's
go to Dallas. What have we got to the Cowboys?

Speaker 15 (29:00):
Top four pass attempts to last two years for the Cowboys,
which is awesome. But Schottenheimer has a long history as
an OC, never really been that.

Speaker 6 (29:08):
Pass happy before.

Speaker 15 (29:09):
So was that Mike McCarthy influenced. I don't know, but
I do know that Dak Prescott in the last five years,
his best years have come with Schottenheimer in twenty twenty three.
But now he is falling in drafts as a QB two.
I think he could outlive that. Ceedee Lamb. You could
set your watch by over eleven hundred yards four consecutive seasons,
but last year he had less slot usage than really

(29:31):
ever before. I think with the arrival of George Pickens
that changes and Ceedee Lamb's upside is the best wide
receiver in fantasy. Pickens is going to be a little
bit boom or bus wide receiver three, but I anticipate
him seeing way more usage than any of the Cowboys
wide receiver two in recent years, which likely hurts Jake Ferguson,
who has been the number two target for Dak in

(29:52):
the Schottenheimer's system. I think that changes put the running
backs of what you want to pay attention to in
camp over one thousand yards and fifty targets two straight
for the Cowboys RB one.

Speaker 7 (30:02):
I got a big.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
Decision to make. Who do I keep Dak or Jaden Daniels.
So help me make that decision. Tell me about the Commanders.

Speaker 6 (30:11):
Jade and Daniels all day.

Speaker 15 (30:13):
Because for as good as he was last year, the
Commanders finished twenty fifth in pass attempts. That is the
lowest a Cliff Kingsbury offense has ever finished, So I
think we could see even more passing in year two
for Daniels he led the Commanders in rushing yards, but
again he could reach a new level as a passer.
Top three Fantasy QB. I think he's in play for

(30:34):
an MVP award this year too. Terry McLaurin is as
rock solid as they come. He's top one thousand yards
in five straight years, career high in touchdowns last year,
but he did it on his fewest targets since his
rookie year, So if they start throwing more, he could
be a top five Fantasy wide receiver Debo.

Speaker 6 (30:51):
Probably a better real life piece than fantasy.

Speaker 15 (30:53):
But he brings yak, which is what this offense was missing.
But he does probably also eat into Zach Ertz's For
the running backs, they're gonna eat off of each other's plate.
But Brian Robinson as an RB three looks like the
better value.

Speaker 4 (31:06):
Pick right now.

Speaker 3 (31:08):
If we're talking yak, you know we are talking fantasy.

Speaker 4 (31:11):
We're not done yet.

Speaker 6 (31:12):
Give me the New York Giants for you.

Speaker 15 (31:15):
Yeah, look past first offense led by Brian Dable, right.
The only issue is last year they didn't have a quarterback.
They have that now with Russell Wilson, who is an
upgrade across the board amongst.

Speaker 6 (31:26):
The Giants quarterbacks last year, but especially as a deep
ball thrower.

Speaker 15 (31:30):
He had more yards on deep passes last year than
all four of the Giants quarterbacks combined. He also throws
a lot to backfield to the backfield, which does well
for the running backs. But Malike Neighbors is the star
here and that is who you want. He was super
consistent week to week with elite volume. But with Russell
Wilson being here, Jameis Winston Jackson dark, it's all upgrades over.

Speaker 6 (31:52):
What he had last year.

Speaker 15 (31:53):
His upside is finishing as the best wide receiver in fantasy,
and I think he's in the range of wide receiver
two after Jamar Chay and I love me some Camskataboo.
I think Russ dumping off to the running back is
going to go a long way for him. Tyron Tracy
was abovely below league average and a lot of metrics
last year. I think he's the RB two in this system.
But Camscattabou has top twenty four upside. You could get

(32:14):
him in like rounds eight or nine.

Speaker 3 (32:16):
Right now, I was gonna say, you know that Scatabo
is going to be overdrafted, and I don't know if
it's gonna be worth it or not, but I might
make it run at it as well. Never too early
to talk fantasy for you. Thank you very much. As always,
you are the man.

Speaker 1 (32:30):
Less than four months away from kickoff in the NFL,
where the Vikings certainly hope to turn the Bears into Teddy's.
On Monday Night Football September eighth, the countdown is on
to the start of the season and the debut one
of the Viking's latest acquisitions. He's our guest right now,
Will Fries. Will congratulations belatedly on your deal a couple

(32:52):
of months ago.

Speaker 7 (32:52):
Here.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
How are you liking Minnesota so far? Are we doing
over the doing good?

Speaker 16 (32:56):
Thanks for having me Loving Minnesota, Loving the guys, really
good group. It's been fun to become acquainted with them.
Be up here, I get to know everybody and enjoy
we move up here, so I'm pumped to be here
and love everything about it so far.

Speaker 5 (33:11):
You know, one of the biggest compliments I think a
player can be paid in free agency. Along with getting paid,
you know that, is the fact that a new team
brings you in when you're.

Speaker 6 (33:22):
Coming off a significant injury. You're coming off that leg.

Speaker 5 (33:24):
Injury last year that limited you to I think was
five or six games last year certainly speaks to how
highly the Vikings.

Speaker 6 (33:31):
Think of your play itself. So how much did you
appreciate that?

Speaker 4 (33:35):
Number one?

Speaker 6 (33:36):
And number two? How are you doing? Are you all
the way back yet?

Speaker 9 (33:40):
Yeah?

Speaker 16 (33:41):
You know, I'm extremely grateful for the Vikings to give
me that opportunity to come in and you know, give
me what the gop after such a devastating injury, and
I'm coming back really well. I'm feeling really good. Not
all the way back yet, but I'm making good progress.
You know, I told everyone when I got there, They're
not going to regret it. I'm getting everything I got

(34:03):
every day in rehab. I'm always gonna do that. I'm
always give them everything I got and make sure I
earn everything that I was given. You know, I don't
take it for granted. You know, I had to work
all the way from the bottoms to get to where
I was at, and I'm gonna keep doing that.

Speaker 9 (34:17):
Studio, It's the only way I know.

Speaker 1 (34:20):
So as a kid from New Jersey who you know
is the Colt's offensive lineman who ends up obviously played
really good football, so suffering that injured when when you
get the call, hey, we're getting this thing done. It's
five years, close to eighty eight million dollars with the Viking.

Speaker 2 (34:33):
He's like, what's your first reaction?

Speaker 9 (34:36):
Yeah, I couldn't couldn't believe it. Uh, you know, called
my dad right away. You know, he was on the
whole of them all day and he was helping me
kind of get through. And he says, you got to
tell you yes right now.

Speaker 6 (34:47):
So there was.

Speaker 16 (34:49):
He was, uh, he was all in and uh, you know,
like I said, extremely grateful to the King, the whole
organization for giving me what I got.

Speaker 5 (34:59):
You talked about your dad. We came across as we
were getting ready for the interview. Your dad had some
legendary workouts for you as early as what like the
fourth grade.

Speaker 6 (35:08):
Can you can you take us through those?

Speaker 16 (35:11):
Yeah? You know, I think a big part of the
reason the way and today is because of my dad
had me out there flipping tires using a floodshammer, hitting
the tires, dragon chains around, chain push ups, all that stuff.

Speaker 9 (35:23):
So there was no there there was no taking it easy.

Speaker 16 (35:27):
From an early start. I think he was trying to
get himself a free ride to college. So hopefully that
worked out for him. But yeah, those workouts were not fun.
I hated it at the time, but looking back at it,
I think it really helped me.

Speaker 9 (35:40):
GE's where I am today.

Speaker 1 (35:43):
So you can talked about those new teammates that year
around now in Minnesota. Tell me specifically about one that
you're going to be blocking for. JJ McCarthy miss his
entire rookie season because of a niscus injury.

Speaker 2 (35:54):
He's coming back now.

Speaker 1 (35:56):
All indications are he's embracing that role to be the
leader of the team. What are your early depressions of
the guy who presumably is going to be under center
this year.

Speaker 9 (36:04):
I love JJ. I'm super excited for him because his opportunity.

Speaker 16 (36:07):
I mean, just from the short time I've known him,
he has this demeanor about him, just, you know, a
swagger or whatever you want to call it. That you know,
I think a lot of the guys really around the
way he's been leading thus far. He's gonna be fun
to play west. He loves the game. He looks like
he's doing all the right things. He has his routine,
he's all spurred away. So I couldn't get any more

(36:27):
pumped to play with the guy like that. And love
the game so much, and we're gonna have fun win
a lot of games with them.

Speaker 5 (36:33):
Speaking of the quarterback, a lot of times when we're
talking about a free agent and a guy goes somewhere,
it's like, Oh, he's going to a Dome team, and
that's good for a quarterback.

Speaker 6 (36:42):
You're an offensive lineman. You went from Dome to Dome.

Speaker 5 (36:45):
Now you're gonna play outdoor games in the NFC North.
There's certainly not a burse of that. But is that
factor in for you at all? I'm does an offensive
lineman crave the opposite? How does that work?

Speaker 9 (36:56):
The dome is plunned, you don't have to worry about
the weather. But I will say playing in the.

Speaker 16 (37:00):
SEED North obviously a legendary conference. I'm excited to get
one of those snow games. I don't know if I'm
asking too much or bite off of them more I
can show there, but I think playing one of those
snow games would be fun. So I'm hoping we can
get one of those at some point in my career.

Speaker 6 (37:14):
You're gonna get one.

Speaker 1 (37:16):
I'm looking at your schedule right there too. You get
two National TV games out of the gate. You got
that double dip overseas. This is gonna be a lot
of national exposure for this young Vikings team. What are
your expectations just to the team in twenty twenty five.

Speaker 16 (37:30):
I mean, like I said, just for meeting the guys,
I love that Toude. Everyone brings like everybody loves football.
Everybody's working their butts off in the weight room, you know,
becoming acquainted with these guys, no line room and coach
Cooper like, I'm really excited to you know, hopefully have
a physical team, you know, a tough team, a team
that you know can take other teams in deep water.

Speaker 9 (37:50):
And I'm just pumped for the area. I'm you know,
taking a game by game.

Speaker 16 (37:53):
I never like taking too far ahead, but obviously a
lot of exciting opportunities to play you know, prime time nationally,
Totdvise Dames and it's gonna be a lot of fun
this year.

Speaker 1 (38:04):
Well, great stuff, man, really appreciate the time. Let's do
this again.

Speaker 9 (38:07):
Absolutely thanks for having me on, guys.

Speaker 1 (38:13):
The eighth annual Eagles Autism Challenge, presented by Lincoln Financial,
took place in Philadelphia this past Saturday. Champion by Eagles
chairman and CEO, Jeffrey Lorie. The Eagles Autism Challenge is
the team's annual cycling and five k run slash walk
event dedicated to raising funds for autism research and care programs.
This year, they raised a record breaking ten million dollars,
adding to the more than forty million raised in total

(38:35):
since twenty eighteen.

Speaker 6 (38:36):
They're doing good in the community, They're.

Speaker 2 (38:37):
Doing good on the field.

Speaker 1 (38:38):
They're so good at one play that it might get
outlawed this week. Within the past hour, the Packers now
have sent to the league and other clubs they're updated
language for batting, not just the tush push, but all
acts of pushing and pulling the runner. Now, this mirrors
the language that was on the books from the league's
foundation in nineteen twenty through two thousand and five before

(39:00):
it was taken out of the rule book. I've spoken
to people believe Mike that this is an unintended consequence. Basically,
it took twenty years, but the Eagles out threaded the
needle and found a way to exploit this.

Speaker 2 (39:11):
A fascinating debate coming.

Speaker 1 (39:13):
Up this week at the Spring Leading meeting in Minneapolis,
where we anticipate a vote on Wednesday at a time
that unlike the March meeting, none of the coaches and
gms are there.

Speaker 2 (39:22):
It's just the owners.

Speaker 5 (39:23):
Mike, Yeah, and which is interesting because there were coaches
that were starting to be swayed. There were more coaches
that talked about the health concern of the play. But
I remember talking to a few folks who said when
they brought up the fact that this was changed twenty
something years ago, at first they couldn't remember why, and
then oh, that's right, because it was too tough to

(39:45):
really officiate this thing down the field.

Speaker 6 (39:47):
So let's go. Let's allow them to push and the
pull and doing it.

Speaker 5 (39:50):
Well, well, now we're going back to where we were before,
which is you can only block defenders.

Speaker 6 (39:56):
You can't push your own guys, you can't pull your
own guys. That's the proposal. Anyway, we'll see if it
gets enough votes.

Speaker 5 (40:02):
To pass, and then maybe we won't have to subject
Ian Rappaport to a non I'm thrown up air quotes,
non football play.

Speaker 3 (40:10):
This revision makes a lot of sense. This makes a
lot of sense. It doesn't make sense to be able
to push and pull guys on the field. That has
never made That's really not football. It's rugby. It's definitely rugby,
but it's definitely not football. I don't know if this
is going to pass or not. It certainly seems like
there's momentum, but this revised language by the packers makes sense.

Speaker 2 (40:30):
You guys are right.

Speaker 3 (40:31):
The football people are not there, the owners considering this
as a health and safety issue. It certainly seems like
this is probably gone time.

Speaker 7 (40:41):
We will be.

Speaker 1 (40:41):
Covering the Spring League meeting live in Egan, Minnesota. Judy
Batista and I will both be there the next couple
of days. We except to vote on the player participation
in the Olympics on Tuesday, tush push on side kicks,
receiving all those football rule specific things. Those are going
to be Wednesday debates and potential votes. What we do

(41:03):
know is that the Eagles have locked up head coach
Dick Sirianni for a long time, and they also will
be able to lock up the ability to push push to.

Speaker 2 (41:12):
Their heart's desire.

Speaker 1 (41:13):
Stick around seven BM Eastern time tomorrow for a lot more.

Speaker 2 (41:17):
We'll see that
