Speaker 1 (00:01):
Good news Bengals fans, Joe is back at quarterback. I'm sorry, yeah,
that's Joe Flacco, not Joe Burrow, but a fascinating twist
nonetheless in Cincinnati season.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
We will tell you.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
How today's stunning trade went down and what it means
for the Browns rookie quarterbacks as well. The forty nine
Ers season has certainly taken some turns, not many better
than when Kendrick Bourne returned to the Bay kav with
us on the show tonight to talk about what's going
right for the offense and his old pal Mac Jones
ahead of a big trip to Tampa. Were you rooting

(00:36):
like crazy for fifty two yards last night? From Isaiah Pachucko?
Just me, Okay, you never know who's going to help
you off the fancy waiver wire unless you listen to
Michael f Florio, who is back here tonight with all
your Week six goodies. Welcome inside with the Insiders presented
by Progressive Insurance alongside Judy Batista and Mike Gariffalo.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
I am Tom Pelisero.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Officially in the books at of today was that any
indication Week six might be very, very interesting. We begin
in the Great State of Ohio, where for the first
time in a long time, the Bengals and Browns have
made a trade. Joe Flacco headed to Cincinnati as part
of a deal that also includes the team swapping fifth

(01:21):
and sixth round picks in the twenty twenty six draft.
The Bengals canvased the league for options over the last
forty eight hours, with Jake Browning continued to struggle in
his third consecutive loss since replacing an injured Burrow.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Mike, why Flacco and why.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Now for the Bengals, Tom because we saw him do
it for in AFC North team that wears orange in
the state of Ohio before.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
And it's a situation where you need.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
Somebody really just to kind of keep you afloat in
the season and learn things quickly, learn things on the fly.
I remember being there in Cleveland and talking to them,
to the folks there, the coaching staff, the person and
el staff. They said, Joe Flacco has been around and
seen literally everything when it comes to an NFL offense.
There is nothing that you could introduce that he hasn't

(02:10):
seen before, hasn't that experience with before.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
So the Bengals need a.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Quick study because they've got to get somebody going quickly here,
even if it is Jake Browning for one more week,
and hope that you can somehow stay in this race
with better quarterback plays. Somebody's got to start to get
the balls the ball to these playmakers. And Joe Flacco
has done that before, can do that, can throw the
football down the field. There's a big part of Sincinnati's offense.
They need that to happen.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
Again.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
You talked about them canvassing the league.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
There was no indication they had any interest in Russell Wilson.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
We talked about Kirk Cousins.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
That's a huge financial commitment, including ten million into.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Next year when Joe Burrow is going to be back.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
Joe Fleckel is a much much smaller financial commitment with
a base salary of two millions that will just pay
the installments of that the rest of the way when
all of a sudden done, Judy, this is the one
that made them.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
I understand he got benched the last two year.

Speaker 5 (03:00):
I get it.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Just what not a lot of great options out there, Tom.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Well, It's amazing to think this how fast the league moves, Judy.
One week ago today, Joe Flacco was informed he was
no longer the starting quarterback of the Browns. From QB
one to QB two to shipping across the state. We'll
see exactly how they decided to play this with Flacco
and Jake Browne moving forward, But the team he leaves
behind in Cleveland really cleared up quickly. Some of those

(03:28):
questions about how their depth charge is stacked up.

Speaker 6 (03:32):
Right.

Speaker 7 (03:32):
First of all, I think if the Browns thought they
were giving the Cincinnati Bengals any air, they maybe wouldn't
have made this deal quite so quickly, So that maybe
tells you what they think. Joe Flacco has left. Obviously,
Flacco was no longer part of the Browns plans. The
most intriguing piece of this, of course, is that this
move Shoudoor Sanders up into the number two spot unless

(03:55):
there is another card to be played that hasn't been
played yet and they do something different at the backup position.
But Shadoor Sanders forty eight hours ago they didn't think
was ready enough to be the backup quarterback. So things
have shifted dramatically.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Now.

Speaker 7 (04:10):
This is good for the Browns because this entire season
is about evaluating these rookie quarterbacks. They have to know
if they have to draft a quarterback in the first round.
They've got two first round picks in twenty twenty six.
They need to know if they need to draft a quarterback.
This now positioned Shadoor Sanders to get on the field,
probably much more quickly than we anticipated. Again, last week,

(04:33):
the feeling around the Browns was that Chador still had
a pretty big learning curve, still had a lot of
development before he would go on the field, and that
it would be much later in the season before we
would see Shador Sanders. Well, now he's literally going to
be one play away. They saw a lot of good
stuff from Dylan Gabriel in his debut, but this has
certainly changed the timeline for Shador Sanders and accelerated it dramatically.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
The Browns make tons of trades, even quarterback trades, and
this offseason Lo they traded for Kenny Pickett, traded away
Kenny Pickett, now trade away Joe Flacco.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
The Bengals don't They don't make deals.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
There's only the third time since nineteen seventy three that
the Bengals have actually acquired a player in a trade
during the season. Certainly getting out of their comfort zone
trying to keep this thing afloat with the possibility the
other Joe Burrow, first time he's ever been referred to
as that potentially could be back down the stretch. The
Ravens apparently felt left out because they also made a

(05:33):
deal earlier today in a trade with the Chargers, a
classic Harmon a Harrba move, kind of like a Kwon
Bolton once upon a time. This deal said O dafe
Oway their former first round pick to La in exchange
for a Looie Gilman, the safety. They also pick up
a twenty twenty six to fifth round pick as part
of a pick swap. In that deal, Chargers needed some

(05:54):
pass rush help after Khalil Max injury. The Ravens need
just anybody, anybody to help to help, particularly on the
back end.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
They also signed CJ.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
Gardner Johnson to the practice squad earlier today. Could see
CJGJ up sooner than later. Some good news for the
Lions on the injury front. After a second opinion on
their cornerback Terry on Arnold, his shoulder injury that he's
been dealing with for a while not as bad as
initially feared.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
It was fired.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
This was a season ending type of an injury, but
after further medical evaluation, does not even sound like he's
going to go on injured reserve. He is expected back
this season, does not need surgery. That is great news
for Detroit and its defense. Running Back Joe Mixon's timetable
in Houston remains in flux, to say the least. GM
Nick Cassario said today that he's making progress, but still

(06:44):
not for another three to four weeks will they have
more information about whether or not Mixon plays at all
in twenty twenty five. Continues to be cryptics surrounding the
status of Mixon, who suffered an injury during the course
of the offseason, has not played this year, opening up
some opportunities for the likes of Nick Chubb and younger
running backs in Houston. In other news, Jerry Jones one

(07:06):
finger cost him two hundred and fifty grand Jerry flew
the bird at some fans on Sunday. He said he
was trying to give a thumbs up and accidentally gave
the middle finger instead, which is what I say, what
I want to de escalate road rage situations. Sounds like
Jerry Jones will appeal this fine, has not done so yet.
He has until Friday to do so. One other note,

(07:27):
free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Junior officially accepting a
six game suspension today related to a positive performance dancing
drug test last season when he was in Miami. This
had been going through the process of appeals for several
months now, only now to Odell Beckham Junior decided to
accept that suspension, so the clock began ticking once it

(07:48):
appeared on the wire today.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Odell still intends to play Mike, won't be eligible to
do so till week twelve.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
D D Monday Night Football, Jaguars Chiefs Trevor Lawrence happy
there are Guy Dante a couple of it's fleming after
the game posted that two players have had multiple rushing
touchdowns on Monday Night Football in there on their birthday,
Trevor Lawrence and Bo Jackson at eighty seven. Spoiler alert,
we'll get to that second one and a second. Here
is Devin Lloyd ninety nine yards, the September AFC Defensive

(08:18):
Player of the Month. Says, I wont October two. What
a season he's having in a contract year. Lots of
dough coming his way eventually if he keeps this up.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
BOM's in Sam.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Got Sam always got to find where Devin Lloyd is.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
All right? Anyway, Kareem hunt late goes in.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
I thought maybe the Chiefs has burned a little bit
more clocked there. But at some point you just got
to get the touchdown.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
The Chiefs take the lead. Liam Cohen and Trevor Lawrence say,
what do you like hearing this menu to get us
into the end zone?

Speaker 3 (08:43):
How about the fall down twice, get up, jump over, guys,
don't throw the ball away? Play touchdown, Jaguars. What a
thrilling game, What a thrilling play. Liam Cohen's reactions were unbelievable.
The Jaguars Thears our four and one. Here's Trevor Lawrence
and Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 6 (09:03):
After the game.

Speaker 8 (09:04):
So, I mean, I'm just panic, honestly, because I was
trying to get up to get the ball out of
my hand. So the clock, I mean, we didn't have
any timeouts, so just try I was really going to
just stand up and like launch it out the back
of the end zone. But then I had a little
bit of a lane, so I took it and you know,
scored from there.

Speaker 9 (09:18):
It sucks, you know, you let a game slip away,
credited him they played hard, and they played hard the
entire game, and they got a lot of good football
players and they they closed out there at the end.
And so it still sucks whenever you get ahead of
lead like that and you know you're not able to
hold it through the rest of the game.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
Cameron Wolf who was at that game and Brian Baldinger
now joining us, I remember Patrick Mahomes after the pick
six to Devin Lloyd, gave it a couple of these.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
He was It was like, you know, the tip of
the hat. You got me, you.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
Showed pressure, you backed out. What a play by Devin
Lloyd came.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
You were there for that.

Speaker 3 (09:51):
Let's talk about this Jaguars defensive turnaround. Anthony Capanelli. The
defensive coordinators did a fantastic job and he's put Devin
Lloyd in a position to make play.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
Yeah, Mike. One of the most interesting postgame moments for me.

Speaker 10 (10:05):
I went to about ten different guys in the Jaguars
locker room. Every single one raved about Devin Lloyd in
his impact, and Josh Haines Allen asked me, why isn't
he the favorite for Defensive Player of the Year, And
I don't have an answer. He may be Devin Lloyd
may be the favorite for Defensive Player of the Year
because of how he is playing. And it's been a
credible turnaround, because this time last year some people thought

(10:26):
he was a question mark because of the high ranking
as a first round pick, hadn't quite lived up to
it yet.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
I talked to him in the locker room about that.

Speaker 10 (10:34):
He said, my goals have always been All Pro Pro
Bowl Defensive Player of the Year, but this year I
locked into him.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
At a different level.

Speaker 10 (10:41):
I got with the right coaches, the right scheme, Anthony Campanelli,
as you mentioned, their defensive coordinator, their linebacker coach, Tim Lakubu.
They have helped unlock me to the next level. And yes,
he is playing fast and free and this whole defense has.
They really wanted to take the respect from the Chiefs.
That's the thing they told me all week. They said,
we know people think this is a fake NFL leading

(11:03):
turnover team, of fake three and one team, but we're
going to take their respect. And they certainly did that
last night with their play defensively, they play violent, they
play aggressive, and thanks to Devin Lloyd, they have ninety
nine yard picked sixes. Take it to the house. One
thing I thought was interesting. Josh heinz Allen has been
there since twenty nineteen. I asked them, where does this
rank as regular season wins for you?

Speaker 2 (11:25):
He said number one.

Speaker 10 (11:26):
Nothing has been more important as what this meant to
us in this franchise going forward.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
More Jaguars in primetime, more Jaguars on Monday.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
Night, Saturday and football.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
They earned it after that performance, Baldy, I don't think
the Chiefs played terribly, and I think we're seeing spurts
and maybe we'll see spurts until Rushie Rice gets back
and then they really hit this right offensively. But they
did some nice things on both sides of the ball.
But they're sitting here two and three extremely frustrated. What
do you do if you're Andy Reid, Matt Naggy, Steve
Spagnolo right now, Well.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
You keep doing what they've always done and you just
keep going to work. But I mean, they had THEMS
five one hundred yards offense. It's right up there on
your screen. You know, since Xavier Worthy came back two
weeks ago, this offense has explored. They scored four touchdowns
last night. Obviously, you know they didn't get the one
where Devin Lloyd made the play. But I mean they
moved the football consistently. That was an issue last year.

(12:16):
Could they do it the speed they have between Xavier Worthy,
Hollywood Brown and Taekwon Thornton who had three catches for
ninety yards last night. It's only going to get better
when Rashid comes back. You're seeing, you know, a healthy
Travis Kelcey making a lot of plays right now. They
probably don't need Patrick Mahomes to be their leading rusher,
so they could improve the running game. But you know

(12:37):
they've got a young left side of the offense line
that Josh Simmons just keeps getting better. He had a
good night last night. It gets lost in the loss,
but you know that young left side that they're counting on,
they're going to be much better players a month from now.
But you cannot write off the Chiefs. You can't write
off Patrick Mahomes. The record is what it is. But
they can come out of this because they've got the

(12:57):
talent to do it. Look, that was a great drive
by Trevor Lawrence. They made a big play down the
field to Brian Thomas Junior. It was well covered by
Jalen Watson. The throw in the you know, in the catch,
you know, beat the coverage, but they still know how
to blitz a quarterback, get to a quarterback, frustrate a quarterback,
all those things. I think there's a lot of football

(13:17):
to be left for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
There's no doubt about that. And you know, there's a
lot of pride there. You know, there's a lot of
experience there. Maybe they're not going to be the number
one seed with home field advantage, but it's certainly not
a team you want to see coming into your building
in this postseason, especially if they get all these pieces
to start to fit together and get Rashie Rice back
Cam and Trevor Lawrence. The play where he had a
rusher bearing down on him a huge play there late

(13:42):
in the game.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
That throw was just perfect.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
Again, the Chiefs had it really well defended, but that
shows you the trust that he has in his receivers.
What are you hearing when you're talking to those guys
after the game, Yeah.

Speaker 10 (13:56):
Mike, we all talked about the stumble Roosky touchdown, but
you hit it on the nose. It's one of Trevor
Lawrence's best drives. He's had those throws to Brian Thomas
Junior and also won of Dianmi Brown one point in
money in Control. And what's so interesting about this Jaguars
team at four to one, there's so much more room
for growth. I talked to Travis Hunter after the game.

(14:17):
He had that big play finally exploded for that deep
ball down the field. He said, we practiced that play
thirteen times during the week, and it took the thirteen
time for us to actually connect with it.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
And that's been the semblance of this offense.

Speaker 10 (14:29):
There's been a lot of times talking to people there
that Travis Hunter has been opened on deep over routes
and seam routes and they just haven't hit him yet.
And it's a balance for Trevor Lawrence because they're telling
him to go through his progressions to get rid of
the ball quickly to protect himself, and because of that,
they haven't quite hit those deep balls yet.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
They think as the season goes.

Speaker 10 (14:47):
On, he'll get more comfortable trusting that he can take
his time and hit Travis Hunter with those balls, and
you're going to see more of those deep plays down
the field, and they think that's going to unlock that
next level of this Jaguars offense plenty of excitement for
Jacksonville going forward because they don't think they've hit their
peak yet. And for people who doubt it, why maybe
they drafted Travis Hunter. Look at what he did last night,

(15:09):
that big catch we talked about, but also covered Xavier
Worthy at times, covered Travis Kelcey at times, and showed
his potential as a game changing weapon for this offense.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
No doubt about it.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
Looking forward to seeing more from him on both sides
of the football. One tough little bit of news for
the Jaguars. Breton Strange, the tight end place that injured
reserve today, expected to miss about a month, but not
a season ender for a guy who is really an
up and coming target for Trevor Lawrence cam Baldy.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
Appreciate you both.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
The Jaguars are headed to London soon, but not this week.

Speaker 2 (15:41):

Speaker 11 (16:09):
Thursday night going, Man, you could have gone any way
over time.

Speaker 6 (16:13):
Let's go.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
Shout out to the guys, man, shout.

Speaker 4 (16:14):
Out to the faithful.

Speaker 6 (16:15):
Sorry about last week. I made it up this.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
We appreciate you going.

Speaker 1 (16:18):
It is a good time to be a San Francisco
fortnin or a good time to be Kendrick Bourne or
joins us right now on the Insiders with me, Tom Philisero, KB.
Fantastic to see you again. What's it like right now life.

Speaker 11 (16:30):
Out there back in San Francisco? What's up Tom? It's
been great, man, it's been great. I just want to
thank God man for everything he's done in my life.

Speaker 8 (16:38):
Man.

Speaker 11 (16:39):
That game was all of him. Man, it's just been
an honor. But it's been fun, man, being back with
my guys, Kyle john Man.

Speaker 6 (16:46):
Some of the former teams.

Speaker 11 (16:47):
I've been with a lot of new guys, but just
learning as I go, man, building new relationships. But it's
been really fun, man, as you guys can see in
my energy and just how I feel how I'm playing
and everything.

Speaker 6 (16:56):
Man, So it's been fun.

Speaker 1 (16:59):
Let's re's Rea kept the last couple of months here
because you're a little bit banged up. Right through the
course training camp, we don't see a ton on the field.
You almost get traded maybe the Minnesota. You make the roster,
then you end up being released from the roster. You're
a free agent for the first time. You end the
back in San Francisco. But now because everybody's hurt, you
get your opportunity and you're taking advantage of just what's
this roller coaster a couple of months been like for you?

Speaker 4 (17:21):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (17:22):
Man, just saying it back to God, I think he
has me in a space of unknown. He just wants
me to take action.

Speaker 11 (17:29):
And getting released was a first experience for me, something new.

Speaker 6 (17:33):
But adversity builds a lot, man. You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 11 (17:36):
There is growth and adversity, and I think that's what
I was going through.

Speaker 6 (17:39):
So to be.

Speaker 11 (17:40):
Let go, I was just like, Okay, what's next, what's
going to happen? And it all happened so fast and
then has some visits. Man, how to visit here felt
really great and it was all just happening so fast,
so had to make a quick decision and just thinking
about my family, thinking about the right decision, thinking about
the history of I've been here, things like that. It
all happened fast and making a decision, man, was it

(18:03):
pretty easy?

Speaker 6 (18:04):
And being back is just been fun.

Speaker 11 (18:06):
So learning through the harships, learning through being uncomfortable, trying
to get comfortable, being uncomfortable got me to right here
where I'm at right now, man. And that game was
just awesome. Man, These last few weeks have been awesome.
And so just trusting God's plan, man, and taking it
day by day you get the result, man. So just
believing in yourself and going every day, never quitting, and

(18:28):
you get.

Speaker 6 (18:28):
The result from now. So I think that's what's been happening.

Speaker 1 (18:32):
So when you sign on, you're thinking, all right, I
got a microwave, this chemistry with Brock Purdy, I haven't
caught balls from before and then obviously brockets banged up.
Now you're catching balls from a guy who you know
really well, Mac Jones, because of how you go back
to New England with him. What are you seeing right
now in Mac and the way that he's played under
not ideal circumstances, in these three starts he's made.

Speaker 6 (18:53):
Yeah, it's pretty similar. You know, you never know when
the opportunity is going to present itself. You never know
what's going to happen. You just got to be prepared.
And I think that's kind of what's happened between both
of us, kind of just to your last question. I
didn't know what it was going to be. I didn't
know what it was going to look like.

Speaker 11 (19:10):
But just being prepared mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally, everything and
every aspect, and you have the opportunity and you're ready
for You're ready to seize the moment. So I think
that's what he's doing right now, you know, stepping in
in his role.

Speaker 6 (19:24):
Obviously what you just asked me last time too. Just
that opportunity presented itself and I was ready for it.
That's all it is.

Speaker 11 (19:30):
So anybody listening, any young guy, you know, if you
when you have.

Speaker 6 (19:33):
That chance, you know, be prepared, be ready.

Speaker 11 (19:35):
And I think when you're equipped, and God has got
me quipped plenty, and I'm showing it and Mac showing
it too.

Speaker 6 (19:42):
So it's just been fun.

Speaker 11 (19:43):
I'm seeing him in this space and I'm happy for him, man,
and so just to be a part of it is
even a blessing in hisself. So pray keeps going, man,
and we can keep doing it, helping the team, helping
an organization do what we're supposed to do.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
So when you've got this many moving parts in terms
of a quarterback at wide receiver, obviously your defense has
been banged up as well. Do you know, like Senior
on a Tuesday, do you even know who's going to
be on the field? Are you getting guys back? Is
pretty back? Like where do you stand out there right now?

Speaker 4 (20:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (20:12):
Man, every week is different. Every day is different.

Speaker 11 (20:15):
You know, some days you feel good, some days you
feel I don't know. So it's just a day by
day thing. It's a week by week league, and so
you just got to be ready. I think that's what
we're doing a great job as a great great job
of as a team is being prepared for who's next.
And I always say it, man, shout out Kyle and John.
We have depth on the team and it's super important

(20:37):
for the success of a team. And that's what I'm
learning as I've been in the league for quite a
while now, you know you need depth. You need people
to have experience, and it's just different. So you have
younger guys and they need to develop, but you also
have vets in the room that has been through it,
and I think it's super important.

Speaker 6 (20:52):
I think that's been one of our strengths on this
team right now.

Speaker 11 (20:56):
So we're trying to, you know, keep getting healthy, rebuild
that firepower for these next few weeks. Man, we got
you know, some tough weeks coming up and just being prepared.

Speaker 6 (21:04):
But I think the depth is our strength right now.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
So improbably you guys are sitting there at for and one,
despite everything you've been through, you're going up against the
Buccaneers team this week that's also for and one and
also has had to overcome a lot. They're scoring a
lot of points, they're also giving up a lot of points.
When you watch these guys on tape, what are you
seeing and how do you get.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
After him this week?

Speaker 4 (21:25):
Yeah?

Speaker 11 (21:25):
Man, defense is really good, man, They're really sound. I
think just executing as offense is really important. Playing above
the sticks, ahead of the sticks. I think we did
a good job of that last week, so, you know,
not playing from behind, trying to have control the game
is always important.

Speaker 6 (21:40):
And their offense is really good.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
Man.

Speaker 6 (21:42):
They're cooking.

Speaker 5 (21:42):
You know.

Speaker 11 (21:43):
Baker Mayfield, he never quits, no quit in his blood
at all. The young rookie over there going crazy. Man,
it's it's been awesome to see so great competition for us, man,
great test for us going over there. It might be
a little hot. I've been living in Tampa now, so
I might be a little used to it. We got
a lot of guys that are from Florida and stuff,
so I'm just exciting to go to a different environment,

(22:05):
new time for the game too, and stuff like that.
So they stirring it up is getting is getting exciting.
But that's what you want, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (22:12):
You want to be.

Speaker 11 (22:13):
You want to be on the top, top stage, just
like we were last week.

Speaker 6 (22:16):
And I think we played well on that stage. So
whatever they want to do.

Speaker 11 (22:19):
Change the prime time, whatever they want to do, I
think we're preparing well. So just getting ready this week,
resting up now and just ready to go to war.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
Kendrick, always a pleasure talking with you, man. Great, just
smile on your face. Great, see you making plays out there.
Let's do this again, man, keep it rolling. Thanks Tom,
Appreciate you guys.

Speaker 2 (22:37):
The forty nine.

Speaker 1 (22:37):
Ers are making believers out of a lot of people
against all odds. But who is making our guy, Jeffrey
Chidea a believer. Jeffrey's got the breakdown. Right after this
on The Insider is presented by Progressive Insurance. There's a
new Joe in Cincinnati. Joe Flacco traded today from the

(22:58):
Browns to the Bank. The teams will swap late round
picks in the twenty twenty six draft. The Browns cleared
the decks for the rookie quarterback to take over the
depth chart, while the Bengals suddenly have a forty year
old QB who potentially could be out there as soon
as this week against the Packers as they try to
turn things around and keep the season alive, free hospible.

(23:21):
Joe Burrow return late. Welcome back to the Insiders, presented
by Progressive Insurance. Tom Pilliicero, joined by Brian Baldier and
Mark Rossmark all start off with you. You've seen a
lot of trades through the years, not a lot of
intra division quarterback trades.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
I would imagine what did you make of this?

Speaker 12 (23:39):
Well, this just shows you the sad state within the
AFC North, and really the sad state of quarterback play
in the NFL right now. Look, we hear about draft
boards in college, but during the season teams have boards
as well, free agent or trade boards as well where
you stack your players. And for the Bengals that have
Joe Flacco as their number one target on their draft board,
especially after playing him in Week one and being in

(24:00):
the division so he knows so much about him, it
just shows you there really isn't much out there. And
the problem with Joe Flacco at this point, Baldy, is this,
he can't hold onto the ball anymore. For Get the
knowledge and downfield throwing. He's just a turnover machine at
this point.

Speaker 4 (24:14):
That's what Jake Browning is though, you know. And so
I watched him live in Cincinnati on Sunday and he
was awful. And the problem, though, Mark, is that, you know,
when I talked to Jamar Chase the t Higgins before
the game, I mean, their attitude is good, but it
starts to drain when you get five catches for a
total thirty eight yards and three interceptions to the first

(24:35):
three quarters and you're out of the game and the
crowd is leaving for the parking lots. They got to
do something better than what they have right now. I
think Joe Flacco is a better option right now. The
Jake Brownie, he's played Green Bay. They got a three
game homestand after this game to Green Bay, I mean
I put him in there before I played Jake Brownie.
They could have beaten you know, Cincinnati, could have beaten

(24:58):
a cleveand could have beaten Cincinnati week one if the
receivers could have caught Joe Flacco's balls. So I would
say Jamar Jason T. Higgins be a little happier with
Joe throwing it to him right now.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
Well, Joe Flacco certainly has better receivers in Cincinnati what
he was working with in Cleveland have to avoid the
arm punts, and certainly Judy also work around some good coverage.

Speaker 7 (25:17):
Very nice Seguay, Tom. It is time now for good
coverage presented by Progressive Insurance. Saints cornerback kool Aid McKinstry,
who has one of the best names in the NFL,
also had some good coverage in Week five. Two interceptions
those were the first of his career, helped the Saints
pick up their first win of the season over the Giants.
That is your good coverage. Presented by Progressive Insurance. And

(25:40):
now let's welcome in my guys, Jeffrey Chadia and Mark
Rosh just slid over into this segment two, and we're
going to talk about who has made Jeffrey a believer
coming out of week five. All right, let's start with
the quarterbacks. Who you got, Jeffrey, I got a couple.

Speaker 6 (25:56):
Guys, Judy, and one is you know, well, being a
New York.

Speaker 5 (25:59):
Native Sam Darnold in Seattle, I was very skeptical I
was going to work without him having all those weapons
in Minnesota in that great defense. But he looks great
so far. He looked great on Sunday in that loss. Yeah,
he had a tough interception, but three hundred and forty
one passing yards and it looks like he's felt like
he's got the job done. The klik Kobiek there is
offensive coordinator. And then Drek May has really blown up

(26:20):
in the last couple of weeks.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
Here.

Speaker 5 (26:21):
You saw what he did against Buffalo, that huge win.

Speaker 6 (26:24):
You've seen the potential before, but the ability to make plays.

Speaker 5 (26:26):
Offscript within the structure of the offense.

Speaker 2 (26:29):
I love where he is going as well.

Speaker 12 (26:30):
Mark, great choices there Jeffrey, I'm going to go with
a guy who's been around a long time, had a
lot of reduction, and that's Dak Prescott at Dallas. And
that always has been a machine if they were in
the good game in the regular games and all, but
when the level of competition stepped up, I always thought
he had some issues, really didn't raise the level of
his team. Well, this year, I've never seen that play better.
Has really raised the level of that offense. I thought

(26:52):
once Ceedee Lamb went down, this offense would really stall out.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
Dak is on fire. He is playing with such confidence
and poise.

Speaker 12 (26:58):
And playmaking right now, second in the league in yards,
third and touchdown passes. The Dallas offense is number one
in yards at number four in points per game, and
he really is just taking it to another level at
this point in his career.

Speaker 4 (27:10):
Unbelievable.

Speaker 7 (27:11):
All right, Jeffy, You've also got some head coaches on
the list.

Speaker 5 (27:14):
Yeah, Shane Stikeen, And I know Daniel Jones is the
big story Indianapolis.

Speaker 6 (27:17):
I know he's not Mark's favorite guy.

Speaker 5 (27:19):
Mark's not a believer in Daniel Jones yet, but I
believe when Shane Stikeen is done with him and whether
this going because Jane Dykeen has done great things with
this team, not just Daniel Jones, but the run game
with Jonathan Taylor, whether his defense is playing and give
him up eighteen points a game so far, there are
real contenders in the AFC South at four and one,
I just believe that Shane Stikeen, the work he's done
with Daniel Jones, he's got to be in the AFC

(27:40):
Coach of the Year NFL Coach of the Year discussion already, Mark.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
Great choice there. He has done a wonderful job.

Speaker 12 (27:47):
We'll see how Daniel Jones fares against real defenses like
the Rams again.

Speaker 2 (27:51):
But I'm gonna go.

Speaker 12 (27:51):
With Tom Bules, who always just seems to be paradically underrated,
doesn't get the credit he deserves. Three NFC champions NFC
South champions ships.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
Already he's in.

Speaker 12 (28:02):
He's four and one again, leading division, going to run
away with that division has overcome all of these injuries
and big stars like Mike Evans, Baker Mayfield has.

Speaker 2 (28:10):
Been in every game.

Speaker 12 (28:11):
The comeback mentality that they have is really a testament
to Todd Bowles and putting that winning attitude culture is
overrated it's putting a winning mindset on a team, and
the Bucks have really shown that four and one and
had a chance to meet the Eagles as well.

Speaker 2 (28:26):
So give it up to Todd Bowles.

Speaker 7 (28:30):
That's right, give some respect to Todd Bowles.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
All right.

Speaker 7 (28:32):
You've also got John Morton on your list, Jeffrey.

Speaker 5 (28:35):
Why I do because so much talking about what Ben
Johnson's departure, who is going to mean to this offense Detroit?
And I know the schedule hasn't been that tough, but
after that season opening loss to Green Bay, they've been
rolling ever since, forty points a game. He's got tons
of weapons to work with there, and you see that. Okay,
Ben Johnson's gone, but this offense is still humming. That
offensive line. They had three new players, three new players,

(28:56):
different positions there. They've worked that out and this team again,
probably the best team in the league right now.

Speaker 2 (29:01):
Mark, Yeah, I agree with you.

Speaker 12 (29:04):
And I could have put Kelvin Sheppard the decordinator on air,
and even head coach Dan Campbell as well, But I'm
going to go to the.

Speaker 2 (29:10):
GM side, the personnel side.

Speaker 12 (29:12):
And Andrew Berry, the much Milan GM of the Browns
because of some of those decisions, but his rookie class
is absolutely fantastic with Mason Graham and Carson Swissinger and
Quinn Shawn Judkids and howl fannin junior now Dylan Gabriel's plan.
Even Dylan Sampson had an undrafted free agent defensive tackle
Aid and Huntington is in there making plays.

Speaker 2 (29:33):
So they've got a foundation.

Speaker 12 (29:35):
And you could say, well, they're all playing because the
team is bad, but they're playing well. They're not just playing.
So give it up to Andrew Berry, the GM of
the Browns.

Speaker 7 (29:44):
Those rookies all looked good last week. Guys, thank you
very much for more on Jeffrees thoughts, narrative shifts, and otherwise.
Nfl dot Com Slash First Read.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
Time out to go inside with NFL Fantasy Live, Tom Pila, Cheryl,
Mike Garritfolo in the aforementioned Michael f Florio, he's off
the court, he put on a nice shirt. He's with
us right now. Okay, waiver wire time week six. There's
a lot of leagues now, Michael left that use free
agent acquisition budgets right, fobbs, fabs, whatever you want to
call it. How in are you going this week? On

(30:17):
Rico Dawdle after that huge day.

Speaker 13 (30:20):
I'm going in, but not super in only because Tuba
Hubbard still looms.

Speaker 2 (30:26):
But I think if you.

Speaker 13 (30:27):
Spend, if you really need a running back, something like
fifteen to twenty percent. If you're not in that boat,
maybe a little bit less than that. But Daddill, hopefully
you watched Fantasy Live last week because we were talking
him up. He ran for the fifth most yards of
any player in the last five seasons. He was the
Fantasy RB one, He won the Angry Run Scepter, and

(30:48):
this is the ultimate revenge game this week against the
Cowboys team that.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
Cannot stop the run.

Speaker 13 (30:53):
If Tuuba is out this week, Rico is an absolute
most play. Even if Truba's back, I think Rico is
in the flex range.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
All right, Look, this is the number one question in
all of fantasy football from guys who have a Marion
Hampton and guys who don't but want to try to
get to the waiver wire before the guys that do.
With Hampton out for four weeks, Hassan Haskins, Kamani Vidal,
which way are.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
You going in the great charge your debate of twenty five.

Speaker 13 (31:19):
I'm pushing my chips in on Kamani videl after Hampton
was injured last week. The two of them did split work.
But last season when JK. Dobbins miss time, Gus Edwards
was their lead back, but videal played over at Haskins.
He saw more groundwork and more than anything, he was
utilized in the passing game, and that is really valuable

(31:40):
for fantasy. Plus, he led his draft class in misstackles
force when he came out just a year ago.

Speaker 2 (31:46):
So on a good offense tied to a good quarterback
team that likes to run.

Speaker 13 (31:51):
But I'll say this, I'm putting Haskins in as my
backup bids just in case I get outbid on Kamani Videlskins.

Speaker 1 (32:00):
Will always remind me of a couple of years ago
when Dereck Henry was one of the leading point scorers
in the league and then was out Fantasy Championship Week,
I had to pick up either Haskins or Julius Chestnutt
had to choose one of them.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
The answer was neither didn't.

Speaker 1 (32:13):
Really work out all that great, all right, Arizona's also
got a running back situation that is super in flux
right now. Michael Who if anybody do you like With
the Cardinals.

Speaker 13 (32:23):
It's Michael Carter all the way. Last week he played
sixty percent of the snaps, he dominated groundwork with eighteen carries,
and what was really surprising to me, he was the
top targeted running back for the Cardinals last week, finished
with eighteen fantasy points, and was a top ten fantasy.

Speaker 2 (32:41):
Running back on the week.

Speaker 13 (32:43):
And then you might have heard something else happen to
another Arizona running back that might mean we get even
more Michael Carter moving forward. Trey Benson's out at least
another three weeks, so that meeks Carter a startuble fantasy
option during that stretch. Plus Trey Benson was a backup himself,
So if Michael Carter could continues to perform at a
high level, there's no reason he can't at least carve

(33:04):
out a role for himself, maybe even be the lead
back after Benson returns.

Speaker 3 (33:10):
Let's talk Mason Taylor the Jets. A rookie tight ends
like a slow, steady drum beat. Here for Mason Taylor,
you advise picking him up?

Speaker 13 (33:18):
Yeah, I advised last week to try to get him.
But if he's still available in your league, I think
you need to pick him up a team high twelve
targets last week, nineteen targets in the last two. He
is the number two target for Justin Fields now, behind
Garrett Wilson. And the thing is, the Jets are in
ketchup mode often and defenses no, Garrett Wilson is the ones,

(33:39):
so they give him the most attention. So in the
Jets are in ketchup mode, it's just a lot of
short underneath move the six kind of passes to Mason Taylor.
But those add up, especially in PPR leagues.

Speaker 2 (33:51):
I think he is.

Speaker 13 (33:51):
Someone that you can pick up and even start this week.
And if you miss out on those names, here is
a whole bunch more, including Kendrick Bully who I just
watched talking to you, Tom, so go add him in
fantasy leagues as well.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
I'm about that synergy on the Insiders tonight from Michael f.

Speaker 2 (34:09):
Floria.

Speaker 1 (34:10):
We will see you next week, buddy, Thank you very much,
Go get back in the gym.

Speaker 7 (34:14):
Here are this week's power rankings. Our buddy Eric at
home put them together and lots of moving and shaking.
After a wild week, five Lions are at number one
first time this season. That's up two spots. Look at
the Bucks. I'm sure everybody preseason had the Bus at
number four in the power rankings. They are up three spots.
The Chiefs are out of the top ten entirely. They

(34:37):
are at number twelve. There probably hasn't been a power
ranking in the last six years or so that did
not have the Chiefs in the top ten. Let's break
it all down. Mark and Baldy are back to talk
about where things have shaken out so far through the
first month of the season. So far, it is time
for fresh takes presented by Chipotle. All Right, let's start

(34:58):
with the AFC.

Speaker 4 (35:00):
Baldy, Well, I mean, you have to really give kudos
to what they're doing in New England right now. Mike
Rabel's done an unbelievable job building around Drake May with
a couple of rookies there Will Campbell, Jared Wilson, the
running back Travon Wilson. But Drake May's playing great football
and he did a couple of imitations of Josh Allen
on that scramble drill right there to Stefan Diggs. This

(35:22):
much improved team in all phases, and then you know
they're two and zero in the Division right now, Judy,
they beat the Dolphins, they beat the Bills in Buffalo.
You know they're setting up to have three winnable games
against New Orleans, Tennessee and Cleveland the next three weeks.
We can see this Patriot team jump up in the
standings here into those you know, power rankings here pretty

(35:43):
quick if they keep improving the way they are.

Speaker 7 (35:45):
I am sure we all expected the Jaguars and the
Colts to be the hottest teams in the AFC coming
into the season. Mark, what do you make of the
AFC South so far?

Speaker 9 (35:55):
Well?

Speaker 2 (35:55):
Anc South shows what good coaching can do.

Speaker 12 (35:58):
And first of the Colts with Shane Stey, who had
shown the last couple of years that he's a legit coach,
but this Daniel Jones reclamation project right here has just
been amazing of what he's been able to do, especially
with the uncertainty in training camp leading up if he
would even be the starter. So for the Colts to
be where they are and play consistently well just gives

(36:19):
the kudos to him. And then with the Jaguars with
rookie head coach there Liam Cohen, who the Jaguars have
been very up and down a lot of losing.

Speaker 2 (36:27):
But for him to.

Speaker 12 (36:28):
Come in there and to win a game like they
did last night, to keep fighting back despite the mistakes,
despite the turnovers, despite Trevor up and down, to still
fight to the end and pull that game out just
speaks to what he's done in that organization. So a
lot of optimism because two head coaches really took them
to another level. And these teams I think are legit now.

(36:49):
But don't forget about the Texans now. Don't forget about
another great head coach there, Demiko Ryans and the Texans
who defense is leading the league with only giving up
twelve point two points per game, and that offense has
seen to be resurrected. I know they played the Ravens
in the last couple of weeks, but if Caes Stroud,
those rookie receivers and Ego Collinston what he marks the
running back can find the groove, it'll be an interesting

(37:10):
race right down to the end.

Speaker 2 (37:11):
But with those three teams.

Speaker 7 (37:13):
Baldy, one of the most stunning results in the first
month of the season so far has been the raven struggles.
Just the whole thing, the raven struggles. What do you
make of what the Ravens are going through right now.

Speaker 4 (37:23):
Well, I mean, when you're giving up forty points plus
a game in your four losses, you have to look
at the whole thing. You have to look at the coaching,
you have to look at the personnel. You have to
look at it all. And I go back to this
organization to nineteen ninety six when they started and that
first draft of Jonathan Ogden and ray Lewis and the
day what ray Lewis walked into that building. This team,

(37:44):
this organization was always built around defense. So see it
playing the worst defense in the NFL by far, right now,
that shocking because they always draft for depth. They always draft,
you know, to make sure that they're stocked in the trenches,
and you just don't see that type of play right now. Now.
They just trade away a Dafe. Ohway, they just got

(38:04):
Chauncey Gardner Johnson. They're trying to add some pieces right now.
But this is and it's not about the injuries. Everybody
goes to injuries. You just can't fall apart because of
some injuries right now. And so this is something that
nobody could have predicted. We're all out there in training camp.
They look like a stacked roster and you don't see

(38:25):
any of it. I mean, two years ago they led
the league in takeaways and in sacks. Right now they
can't get a takeaway. They only have two. They can't
get a sack, they only have two. And you know
it's not just because van Oi was out and you
know they lost, you know, some defensive linemen. It's about
how you play the game and that has to change
right now. And John Harboll is not going to fire

(38:47):
Zach Orr. That's not going to happen. They've got to
play differently than what we have seen through the first
five weeks.

Speaker 7 (38:53):
It is one of the most shocking things about the
early part of the season. Baldy Mark, thank you very much.
When we return, we're going to talk more about the
International Series. It continues in London, presented by NetApp bo
Nix and the Broncos versus Sauce Gardner and the New

Speaker 2 (40:10):
Batista's come the past two weeks and.

Speaker 1 (40:12):
Change overseas with a couple of NFL games over there. Judy,
we saw you a couple of times briefly on this show,
checking in from Dublin and from London.

Speaker 2 (40:20):
What were you doing.

Speaker 7 (40:21):
Over there having a blast? It was awesome. I went
to a Premier League game that was really cool. Last Saturday,
we went hiking outside of Dublin. I have to say
I know people Some people don't love the idea of
the NFL exporting games to other countries, but when you
see it up close, it is awesome. The fans are

(40:42):
so into it. Dublin was so excited to have an
NFL game. It was really cool to see and you
understand why the NFL is so into the International Series.

Speaker 2 (40:53):
Very cool experience, Mike.

Speaker 3 (40:54):
We've come a long way since I covered that first
game in two thousand and seven Giants Dolphins in London.
The crowd is much more knowledgeable about the game, much
more into the game. NFL International Series taken off, and
there's more.

Speaker 1 (41:06):
This Sunday on NFL Network, So get up early, but
first be back with us for all night.

Speaker 13 (41:10):
See it.
