Speaker 1 (00:08):
When you think of last place teams, you don't really
think of the forty nine ers. There's a lot of talent,
but a lot of things went wrong in twenty twenty four.
So are they the best candidate to go from worse
to first in the NFC West? Well, the only candidate
in the NFC West. Are the candidate to do it?
We'll talk it coming up. Meanwhile, our Cameron Wolf's going
to join us because he's got thoughts about the NFC
(00:30):
East and a couple of quarterbacks there, Jaden Daniels and
Jalen Hurts, two guys at different points in their career,
but Cam believes the arrow is pointing up for both
of them still despite what they've accomplished.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
We'll talk about that later.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
And Brocos wide receiver and All Pro punt returner Marvin
Mimm Junior joins the program. We have got some ordinary
old stats and some deeper stats to show you the
impact that MIM's had in year two and what he could.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Do in year number three.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Welcome inside with the Insiders. Mike Garafolo joining you on
what is our last program before we take a two
week hiatus.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
So soak this one.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Up because we have got a lot of news and
analysis to get to. Cameron Wolf I mentioned him. Stacy
Dale's along for the ride as well. Rhtt Lewis will
be joining us from the Manning Passing Academy. Mark Ross
here in just a second, Senior BOLL Executive director Drew
Fabianic joining us, and I told you about Marvin Mims.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
You're not going to want to miss that one.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
But we've got a lot of news to get to,
including Justin Tucker, the former Ravens kicker who was accused
of sexual misconduct with Massuse's.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
He was suspended by the NFL today.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
For the first ten weeks of the twenty twenty five season. Now,
this was sort of an agreement between the sides. This
has happened before, where you know it's going to go
toward a suspension, you avoid the appeals process by agreeing
to it. So Tucker did agree to this suspension here
while maintaining his innocence. He will be suspended the first
ten weeks of the season, whether he's with a team
(02:03):
or not. He is currently allowed to sign with a
team and would participate in training camp in the preseason,
but his suspension would begin on August twenty sixth, he'd
be eligible for re instatement November eleventh. Here's a statement
from his agent, Rob Roche earlier today in which again
he maintains his innocence. They said they are disappointed with
the NFL's decision. Again, it's a decision but also an
(02:25):
agreement between the sides, but Roach says that Tucker will
accept it. He will not appeal this as he looks
forward to remaining deeply dedicated to his most important lifetime
roles as a father, husband, and friend.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
We'll see also about a role.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
As a kicker for a team, whether it's during the
suspension or after. Remember, he struggled on the field as well. Meanwhile,
the Bengals and Hamilton County faced a deadline.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
To get a new agreement on a stadium lease because.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
This current woman was running out in twenty twenty six.
They got it done just at the wire. How about that?
That's how these things usually happen. So now they will
keep the team in Cincinnati through at least twenty thirty six.
There are options to get it all the way to
twenty forty six, and renovations are coming to the stadium.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
With the Bengals bearing the brunt.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Of that, but the county chipping in as well.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
The hope is that this will lead to some bigger events,
not just football games there.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
Here's a statement from Katie Blackburn, the Bengals executive vice president,
talking about this being a significant day for the Bengals
to secure the team's future in Cincinnati with Hamilton County
some increased revenue that maybe could be dished out to
some of the players, like maybe Trey Hendrickson. I mean,
it's not rolling in just yet, but let's see what's
happens with the Bengals and Trey Hendrickson. Katie Blackburn the
(03:41):
one in charge of getting that done as well. You
know what got done in Tampa Bay contract extensions multi
year contract extensions for Todd Bowles and Jason light the
head coach and the general manager that have helped lead
that team to three straight NFC.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
South Titles Bowls.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Was also there as an assistant for the first part
of a five year run in which the Buccaneers have
made the playoffs each season, the only NFC team to
do that. So the Buccaneers said, we are going to
reward this current regime. I saw something yesterday on x
stating that Todd Bowles was one of the coaches in
the on the hot seat tier.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Wrong.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Todd Bowles becomes the first head coach for the Buccaneers
to be extended since John Gruden Mark Ross back in
two thousand and eight.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Gruden was then fired shortly after that. But that's not
gonna happen with Todd Bowles.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
They love the guy that they have got down there
in Tampa Bay, and that extension proves it. By the way,
if you think Bruce Arian's got an extension, he got
a raise after the Super Bowl, did not get years
at it. All right, Mark, take all that information in
and tell me why it was important for the Buccaneers
to lock up both Bulls and light Today.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
It's the continuity, Mike, And as you mentioned, he's on
hot seat but or is he underrated? But it's all
that matters is that the ownership felt strongly about this,
and probably Jason Lightee Jason lffelt really strongly about working
with Todd Bowles. And there's nothing better than working in
the front office as we did, as you know very well,
with Tom Coughlin and Jerry Reese. When there's that continuity
(05:10):
and you're not thinking about who's coming in, who's going
You have your system, you have your two key figures
working together, and I'm sure Jason and Todd having a
fabulous working relationship and everybody in that building feels that.
So it makes it easier year after year and you
see the results. Yeah, he's on the hot seat, but
he won three division titles, went eight to nine, went
nine and eight, then ten and seven, ten and seven,
(05:30):
ten and seven last season with two different quarterbacks, the
aforementioned Brady, then the Baker Mayfield Reclamation Project, three different
offensive coordinators each one of those years, Mike, So, I
think what Todd Bowles has done is really shown and
bring the team together with that stability. And this blew
my mind when I saw this. When Alex Wilgar producer
told me earlier that he's yeah, he's one of the
(05:51):
longest tenured coaches, I mean, look at that there.
Speaker 5 (05:54):
Look that shows you not for long.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
He is by far the longest tenured in his own division,
where you got guys that are on the first year
or second year in his own division. So that's the ability,
that continuity. I think you see the results with the
Bucks and I think they're the favorite once again to
win the division and make some more hey in the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
Yeah, Todd Bowle's got a raw deal with the Jets.
A lot of folks will tell you that. I will
tell you that. So it's good to see him get
the chance to show what he can do as a
head coach down there in Tampa and get the show
for a little bit longer and the.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
Support from Jason Light.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
I gave you a number here of the fifty starters
for the Buccaneers over the last two seasons, forty of
them where either draft picks or undrafted free agents right
out of college that were signed by Jason Light or
drafted by Jason Light. So his ability mark and I
know you appreciate this as a guy who ran the
draft for the Giants, his ability to identify and develop
talent with the help of his coaching staff certainly admirable
(06:47):
in a reason to be rewarded, and that's why the
Buccaneers did that to the NFC. West we go, and
you're going to see a couple of guys here in
Puka Nakua and Davante Adams doing some work for the
Rams who came on strong last and are a lot
of people's pick to be the team that is going
to continue to ascend and be a Super Bowl contender
(07:07):
for this upcoming season. But first you got to make
it out of the division. And you can make a
case for anybody in this division to take it, including
the forty nine ers who finished last last year. But
they're not a last place roster. It's just a lot
of things went wrong for them. So you know what,
let's make a case for every single one of these teams.
And Mark, I'm going to start with you, and we'll
start with the Rams.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
Well, the Rams are my favorite. They are my favorite,
and I think justifiably so. Last season I thought it
was rebuilding, but it shows you how great of a
head coach Sean McVay is that he got that team
that got better throughout the season and then gave the
Eagles all they can handle in the conditions that's not
La Rams conditions. I mean in the snow, it was nasty,
it was cold, and had chances to win that game.
(07:48):
So you've got the best coach of the division, and
then you've got the best quarterback in Matthew Stafford, and
then you've got Pookin Nicole coming in there with another
season but also that young that defense led by Jared
Versu and all the young lines will be another year
better and will cause problems for anybody. So the combination
of the best ad, coach, best quarterback, young defense, playmakers
on offense rams will win it again.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
Mike, I mentioned the Niners. How about worse to first?
Speaker 1 (08:13):
And I'm not going to use the words easy, and
I'm not going to use the words soft, because it's
the NFL and nothing is easy and nothing is self.
But when you look at the schedule, it sets up nicely,
in part because they finished in last place. What gives
them which gives them some good matchups for them this
upcoming season. But I think the biggest thing for them
is going to be staying healthy because you saw how
the injuries, and it's happened to them in the past.
(08:34):
How the injuries you put easiest, you put easiest on
the screen. I just said I wasn't going to do that,
but you saw how the injuries piled up.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Also the one score games.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
These are things that from year to year tend to
regress back towards the mean. And on top of that,
you got there's party, there's kittle, some contracts done, Fred
Warner as well some contract. There's no drama with this team.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Now.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
I know folks are reading into Brandon Ayuch's comments he
makes his way back from an ACL injury. My understanding
is Brandon Ayuka is in a really good space with
the team.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
They got to get him healthy and keep him focused.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
If they do, that's another ad back to the mix
with all this talent on the team plus Robert Sala back,
what did George Kentle say there's some violence in the
way or something like that. You know that that's going
to be the case. You know there's going to be
an injury for the forty nine ers. I like their
chances of going worst to first. I think you got
the Seahawks up now, Mark.
Speaker 4 (09:27):
I think I do well. And it all comes down to, look,
we can't sugarcoat this. It comes down to Sam Donald
giving this guy all that money. Look Sam Donald last
season talking about reclamations, progerjects. He was that and he
was looking great, and Sam was slinging it going to
Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and Hockinson and so looking like
one of the best offenses in the NFL. And then
(09:49):
towards the end he saw the cracks started showing Mike
he's turning it over again. He's turned it over and
of course you know the wheels fell off there the
last game and in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
So it's all about.
Speaker 4 (09:57):
If he can take his game to another level or
what's last season the best for Sam Donald best case
scenario head coach Mike McDonald. Of course, the defensive minded
guy got to get that defense playing to take the
pressure off of the offense. They have to dominate on
that side of the ball. Well, we're talking about the
Rams Cooper Cups. Now with Seattle, with the Seahawks for
Sam Donald being his go to guy, Kenneth Walker running
(10:19):
a rock, that's the best case scenario for them.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
Let's wrap it up with the Arizona Cardinals. Luck.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
I'll be honest, I think that this is the hardest
team to really get a handle on, and if you're
looking at a window of.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
Wins, I think this is the biggest one.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
I could see them up into the double digits, and
I could see them down as well, in large part
because of the quarterback mark I mean, Kyler Murray. You know,
the upside is there. You have seen the upside. The
targets are there. They're expecting a growth from Marvin Harrison
Junior that you're seeing right there.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
They're expecting a jump from him.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
You know what you're gonna get from Trey McBride. They
rewarded him this offseason. The question is when Kyler Murray
and every quarterback is gonna have those moments where things
are not going great. Are they brief moment or are
they extended moments? And at times last year they were
a bit extended. So I know that they want to
try to get him to understand a bad play or
even a bad series here and there, that's fine. We
(11:09):
just can't make it a bad quarter or a bad half.
It's got to be more consistent, consistent at the quarterback position. Look,
I know that they still believe in Jonathan Gannon there.
This is a big year for Gannon. In this coaching staff,
Nick Rallis and Drew Petsing, the coordinators. They believe in
those young guys and those bright minds. It's about the
quarterback position and taking this team to the next level.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
It's going to be a tough division. How do I know?
Speaker 1 (11:31):
Because we just ran down everybody in that division, and
there's a case to be made for every single one
of them, Mark, and we did that. Thank you very much.
Don't go far you with us for the rest of
the program. The wait is over and the countdown to
kickoff has begun. Single game tickets for the twenty twenty
five NFL season are on sale now. Visit NFL dot
com slash tickets to purchase through the NFL ticket network,
(11:52):
including Ticketmaster, Seat Geek, and Sports Illustrated Tickets. All right,
we got summits and universities happening and all over the place.
Here's Taylor Swift at tight End University performing her new
song outside release from her album Blockdown.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
Meanwhile, the SAX Summit is happening, and these guys are
getting loose and showing each other how to rush to
pass her trading notes out there in Las Vegas. Even
some jumpers apparently Max Crosby, our Brian Baldinger is out
there taking some notes as well. You know he's going
to be willing to share them with us afterward. And
the manning passing Academy, I can't see who that is,
(12:41):
but you know, you've got some of the best quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
In the land.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
They're serving as counselors. If they're on the college level.
You got the Mannings who have been doing this for decades,
getting all the best arms all the way from the pros,
all the way down to college, all the way down
to high school. And even Rent Lewis as well, a
guy that used to catch passes from quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
He's like, you know, I want it right here or
right here.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
This is what he does, this is what he provides,
and he is here with the insiders to tell us
what's happening this year. What year is this for the
Manning Passing Academy.
Speaker 6 (13:16):
This is year twenty nine. Mike and I have been
very fortunate to be here for twenty seven of the
Manning Passing Academy years. It started at two lane. I
was a rising eighth grader when I came to camp
for the very first time, and then came back when
I was playing in Indiana and somehow they still let
me come back.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
So it's awesome.
Speaker 5 (13:35):
Man.
Speaker 6 (13:35):
It's grown from one hundred and eighty five campers to
some fifteen hundred and look, and the cool thing is
they just get better. All weeks, four days of practice
in the warm embrace of one hundred percent humidity in
ninety degree tenths here in southern Louisiana on the campus
of Nickels State University, where by the way, my cousin
just happens to be the athletic director and he's letting
me use his office for this. So I shout out
(13:57):
to JT appreciate all the hospitality of the great community provides. Man,
this is a This is a really unique experience for
the campus. And as you mentioned, for those college quarterbacks
that are a part of the staff.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
Yeah, the college quarterbacks get to be what do these
guys get out of it?
Speaker 2 (14:12):
You've seen their firsthand red. Yeah, it's super cool.
Speaker 6 (14:15):
Actually, they just did their first workout where they run
through stations. You know. Again, it's three o'clock in the
afternoon in South Louisiana and it is smoking hot, and
they are out here working their butts off like they're competing.
They're learning from Payton and Eli and then they turn
around starting eight o'clock tomorrow morning and go through three
a day practices as coaches coaching up these high school kids,
(14:37):
rising eighth graders, the rising seniors. So they work out here,
they compete. It's such a cool environment. They're just sitting around,
pounding around with all of famers, with other football dignitaries.
John Gruden's here, you know, NFL general managers sometimes stop
buy and bring their sons, who may you know, been playing,
you know, in high school high school football wherever they're at,
and so we get to kind of see them a
little bit. And you know, famously Bill Belichick was here
(14:59):
last year, his quarterback at you and c is here
this year, Joe Lopez next, Johnsonered here. So this is
a really unique environment for these quarterbacks to kind of
soak up some knowledge and also get back to the
high schoolers.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
I believe Joshane the general manager of the Giants, was
there last year. I don't know if he's there this year,
but his son, Carson Shane a rising quarterback here in
New Jersey. So yeah, that's one of those connections that
you see out there. So what have you seen so far?
Who do you get your eye on this week?
Speaker 7 (15:28):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (15:29):
Man, Look, it's fun. And by the way, I'm waiting
on the text from Daniel Jeremiah to ask me who
the best arm was today.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
We do have two more of these workouts for.
Speaker 6 (15:38):
The college quarterbacks, so they're going to really get their
work in. But man, I got to tell you some
of the names you've already heard. You know, as soon
as last this year's strapped ended, we started looking ahead
to next year, and a lot of those quarterbacks are here.
Leonora Sellers from South Carolina Club Nick from Clemson. John
Matteer from Oklahoma is an extremely impressive looking guy. I
(15:58):
mean like he he looks the part, and he has
got an incredible arm and just it's very natural, very fluid.
I think Oklahoma's gonna be in great hands. Uh and
really excited to see what he does after coming over
from Washington State. So he was really really fun to
watch the newest sellers. The arm is just like this
is one of those pro day environments, Mike, where some people,
(16:19):
you know, you get both sides of the spectrum.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
They love it or they hate it.
Speaker 8 (16:22):
I love it.
Speaker 6 (16:23):
I love watching these guys throw. And so those two
guys in particular Sellers in ma tier were really fun
to watch. I can't wait to see him again tomorrow.
But they're actually going to compete trying to hit moving
golf carts. So it's just one of the unique things
that happens around here.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
That's like the old quarterback challenge. They used to have
those targets out there. I love the fact.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
I love it. I love that they're bringing that back, red.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
I appreciate the nostalgia there for the Manning kids.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
It's a great scene, and we appreciate you being there.
Get all that information you know.
Speaker 6 (16:54):
Yeah, yeah, how did he get in? Yeah, it's like
a full circle situation here. It started with Peyton with
Eli when he was a camper in high school. Now,
of course we get Cooper, the oldest son of Archie Manning,
and his son arch Manning here as a staffer, so
it's really become a cool family affair.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
That's great. Rhtt.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
I really appreciate you joining us. Enjoy your time down there.
Get all that information. You can share it with Jeremiah,
but please bring it on the insiders first and then
he can have.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
It or tell him the tune in. You got to
tune in and find out Jeremiah.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
Huh, yeah, you take a break from watching your padres
suck wins. Hey, thank you, brother, I appreciate it. They
got off to a great start. They're struggling lately though
notable counselor at the Manning page look at.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
This right here you got some number one overall picks.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
There also a guy who is not on there was
not taking number one but was taken later but might
wind up being the number.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
One quarterback there for the New Orleans Saints. Tyler Shuck.
Speaker 1 (17:52):
He was a counselor there at the camp. Here is
Shuck on the Saint Brown Podcast.
Speaker 9 (18:01):
I think for me and what I've been through, you know,
I've been carted off the field, I've been booed. I've
been an MVP. Yeah, I've been a starter. I've been
a backup to Herbert. I'm like, hmm, dude, I don't
throw at me, like what, You're not going to phase
me if we start off like h and two or Suck.
I'm like, dude, I'm gonna be That's gonna be fine,
you know. So that's why I was so excited about
(18:23):
that opportunity, or any opportunity.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
Stacy Dale's regular viewers of the program will know that
we had Tyler Shuck on before the draft and we
talked about how everything he had been through at the
college level, transfers, injuries had really.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
Set him up.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
He felt for life in the NFL, where they can
throw anything out and you see what he is saying
right there. So your thoughts on Tyler Shuck, who's got
a shot at a starting.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Job right now having that kind of mentality coming in.
Speaker 7 (18:50):
Yeah, Mike, I'm wondering how many shuckisms we're going to
get during the season if he becomes a starter. There's
going to be a lot of them. Listen, you just
said it. This is going to be one of the
biggest competitions in training camp in the NFL as we
get ready for training camps between he and Spencer Ratler. Obviously,
Rattler the fifth rounder. Last year, he started six games,
(19:11):
played in seven, was zero to six, didn't have great numbers,
but Kellen Moore, of the new head coach, is basically
splitting reps between Rattler and Shuck. Now you heard those comments, Mike,
I got to spend time.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
With him, got to know him at the combine.
Speaker 7 (19:24):
Extensively, spending time with him down on the field literally,
and what his kind of mission was through this draft process.
He is ultra competitive. He's got a massive frame six' five,
right huge arm that has shown.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
Up in mini.
Speaker 7 (19:38):
Caamp but of course you've got to put the pads.
On but the competition is, Real Tyler. Shuck you, KNOW
i just remember back to that combine. Experience he wanted
to even as mundane as some of the drill work can.
Be he wanted to show some different platform, throws some
different arm, angles maybe some different, drops mix up his
drops and just change things up a little. Bit he's
(19:59):
so competitive Of mike and you, know to play at
three different power fives through seven. Years he's twenty five years.
Old he told me he sees it as an. ADVANTAGE
i don't think he's coming in like a. Rookie he's
going to have to learn THE, nfl BUT i think
he believes he can be the.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
Starter you asked for, it you got, It Tyler.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
Shuck winding up In New, ORLEANS i felt like that
was the perfect combination because they eat a lot of
oysters down.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
There what do you do to an, Oyster Stacey dale's
you shuck. It you shuck.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
It you, know you got your little you Get the
top side is, flat the bottom side is.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
Curved that's the bottom.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
Side you get in on the hinge and you kind
of pop it open and then you scoop AND i
CAN i can shuck with the best of.
Speaker 5 (20:36):
Them.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
Stacy let's see IF i can transition with the best
of team.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
Man The saints play the Former saints Coach Dennis, allen
who is now with The bears In week. Seven we
don't know If Tyler shuck's going to be the starting quarterback,
then but we've got some questions about The.
Speaker 2 (20:50):
Bears how DID i do on that?
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Transition they made a lot of changes this off, season
a lot of. Additions Joe toney a big, one thank
you very. Much What's Joe tuney going to mean to this?
Speaker 2 (20:59):
Offense you're about to.
Speaker 7 (21:01):
Go on, vacation, Right Joe toney is going to be, Huge.
Mike and you, know, listen we know who they're starting
quarterback is going to.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
Be that Is Caleb. Williams and if.
Speaker 7 (21:10):
There's anything you learned about The Chicago bears this, offseason
they mean.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
Business they mean.
Speaker 7 (21:15):
Business Ryan poles means business because they got to go
through this BRUTAL Nfc, north absolutely brutal, division and they
had to acquire. Superstars and the guy that they went
after that JUST i circle Is Joe. Toney he's going
to have a gold jacket one. Day he's entering his
tenth season in The National Football, league four Time Super bowl.
(21:38):
Champ he's An All pro for good. Reason, listen he
has one heard and forty six starts in his. Career
he has been, masterful in, fact so good That Andy reid,
said we have to be better at left, tackle so
they move him to left tackle at the end of last.
Season he starts all twenty, games playoffs, included and he
became the left tackle for The Kansas City.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
Chiefs that's how good he is them.
Speaker 7 (22:00):
Position flex but he's going to make the left tackle
better and the center better and bring stability to that
entire offensive. Line So Drew dolman in the, middle and
THEN i would just add this as we wrap Up
mike who's going to be the left. Tackle Braxton jones
is coming off a lower leg. Injury he's expected back
at training. Camp But Ozzie, trapillo the second rounder six
(22:22):
eight three ten out Of Boston, college has really, impressed
took a lot of reps there at mini, camp so
there could be a competition at left. Tackle Joe tooney's
gonna help all those. Guys, however that was a huge
get and a big sign that The bears me business
in THE Nfc.
Speaker 1 (22:39):
North i'm picturing six eight three. Ten that's actually kind of.
Lean he's got probably a frame to add a few.
More how do you throw over sixtech the way you
got To you gotta you gotta.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
Gotta aim at High, Stacy dale's get the. Best appreciate
everything you did this. Week Happy vacas The.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
Insiders we're all going on Vacation. Dale uh Not Marvin,
mims though he is working. Hard he's gonna make sure
he hits the ground running in year three with The.
Broncos we're gonna ask him about. That we're gonna ask
him about his quarterback Bone. Nicks i'm gonna ask him About. Disney,
YEAH i got a little birdie told me he Likes.
Disney that's coming up next to The.
Speaker 10 (23:15):
Insiders fourth and one and a rumo, saying get over
the top Of sutton burden of block and.
Speaker 8 (23:28):
Neck well throw it it. Is it is, caught, Touchdown
Touchdowe mons cut the, Ball Marvin mims cut the, ball, Touchdown.
Denver WHAT i played BY Bonickx and what an incredible
catch By Marvin.
Speaker 1 (23:49):
Mims, yeah there Is Marvin Mims junior making that catch
right there now joining us here on The.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
Insiders let's start right.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
THERE i, mean you go, back you watch that, play
take us through that. Play what do you remember about
and just seeing it's got to stir up some old emotions.
Speaker 11 (24:06):
There, yeah it's a funny. Play it was fourth and.
One force we need r to continue to, drive hopefully
tie the game up and bow rolls out.
Speaker 5 (24:15):
Right it's cover. Two i'm not an option on it
and cover, two So i'm just kind of.
Speaker 11 (24:19):
Chilling and then next thing you, KNOW i look up
the balls in the air AND i just got to
go make a play.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
Man it was a great second half of the season for.
You saw the way your numbers go. Up and speaking
of your, NUMBERS i mean you could look at what
you did last year thirty nine catches for five hundred
and three, yards up from twenty two and three seventy,
seven six, touchdowns and you, go that's. Great but there
are other things that the, numbers those basic numbers don't show.
You that's why we go To Pro Football, Focus that's
why we go To Next Gen. STATS pff recently showed
(24:49):
that you had the most separation of wide receivers in
THE nfl last, year and not, Surprisingly Next GEN SATs
says the passer rating to, you was the highest in
the end over the second half of the.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
Season what was it in that last half of the.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
Season what was it in year number two for you
that really helped things start to click and get that separation.
Speaker 5 (25:08):
There, YEAH i.
Speaker 11 (25:10):
Think it was just me being more comfortable in the,
offense and then also with the, scheme and you, know
having bow last year and him getting more comfortable as
the season went, along and he played tremendously towards the
end of the year, also AND i think we started
figuring out things he likes to do as a quarterback
and it kind of meshed that type of stuff into
our offense and it helped a, bunch you, know helped
create a lot of exposive, plays help get more guys
(25:30):
open as, myself and helped their offense actually explode towards
the end of the.
Speaker 5 (25:34):
Year so it was a. Lot it was really good for.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
Everybody you saw it right, there darn near close to
a perfect passer rating there for. You according To Next Gen.
Stats you talked ABOUT, Boneckx you talk about fourth and.
One he throws the ball up like. That he's not
shy about taking some shots down the. Field we talked
To Garrett, bowles your, teammate earlier this, week and he
had some praise For. Bonnicks what kind of words would
you use to describe Bo nicks after his first year
(25:58):
in THE.
Speaker 11 (25:58):
Nfl, yeah he's been around bow you, know ever since
last ye and OTAs when he first got in as a.
Speaker 5 (26:04):
Rookie you can definitely tell his confidence in the.
Speaker 11 (26:06):
Huddle AND i Think bo's confidence speaks loudly for who
he is as a, person and.
Speaker 5 (26:11):
Also just when it's timed to play. Football it's simon
talking about.
Speaker 11 (26:14):
Football he's one hundred percent doll then he was going
to make sure everyone else is down In.
Speaker 5 (26:17):
So he's a great, leader and just.
Speaker 11 (26:20):
His confidence in the, huddle it kind of resonates with
everybody pretty.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Well for, you a first Team All, pro last year's
selection as a punt, returner take him one to the
house or let's say a play like that In cincinnati
where you go up and get it as a wide.
Receiver which, One which one's got more juice for?
Speaker 5 (26:38):
YOU i don't, know that's a great.
Speaker 11 (26:41):
QUESTION i think it's it's kind of a mixture of,
both you, know and there's something like. That it's kind
of like an immediate, pop but with the pump return
you can kind of see the build up of. It
the crowd will build up and really get into, it
and It's they're both great, plays but it's definitely a
different feeling for.
Speaker 1 (26:55):
Each, Offensively Sean payton being guy that's calling the shots
there for you as a, coach what impresses you the
most about what he, does whether it's game planning wise
or what he's doing the day of the, game the
way he's making the.
Speaker 11 (27:10):
Call, YEAH i think for me being a coach fitting
for two, years it's definitely game planning. Wise and it's
funny because we'll go through this basic kind of play
sheet and all this stuff during training camp and then
when we get in the, SEASON i mean he's switching.
Speaker 5 (27:23):
EVERYTHING i, mean everything's.
Speaker 11 (27:24):
Different we have different, formations different personnel, GROUPS i, mean
everything is completely different from game to. Game and just
kind of seeing how his brain works in meetings and
how that transfers onto the field and what he's thinking
and letting us.
Speaker 5 (27:36):
Know and it's really cool just.
Speaker 11 (27:38):
To be around one of the great offensive minds and you,
know the history of the, game and just to learn
from him of weekend and week.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
Out, overall what's the mentality of This broncos team is
we get set for training camp in a couple of.
Weeks because a lot of folks didn't expect the ten
and seven season that you had last. YEAR i know
you guys, did so you got to be, Thinking, okay
now we've got bigger, goals, Right, yeah for.
Speaker 11 (27:58):
SURE i think now kind of the league's kind of
seen what we can. Do and as far, OURSELVES i,
mean we just want to come out and make a point.
Again you, know last year was a huge step for
us as a franchise and as an, organization and now
bringing a lot of pieces.
Speaker 5 (28:10):
Back you, know got some additional pieces too THAT i help.
Speaker 11 (28:12):
A, lot and we just want to go back out
there and keep continuing to you, know just play, better you,
know every. Game and you know we're in the subdivision this.
Year you, know everyone's kind of updated in our. Division
so we're just ready to. Go it's ready to go
to compete against.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
Everybody, marvin BEFORE i let you, go how are you
spending this let's call it? DOWNTIME i know you had
a football camp recently AND i gather you're a Big
Disney parks.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Guy have you been to any of those.
Speaker 11 (28:37):
Lately, Yeah i've went to The Disney parks from during
The Pro. Bowl you, know we're already out. There they
gave us some, fruit tigs and. Stuff so we did all,
that and THEN i went back probably a lout a month.
Ago you, know they have the New Epic Universe Park,
universal SO i went on and did. That it was
a lot of. Fun you, know that's my type of.
Vacation i'm not a big resort on the beach. Guy
LIKE i want to go to Music, park ride some,
(28:57):
rides but.
Speaker 5 (28:59):
Other than, That i'm gonna go back To.
Speaker 11 (29:01):
Oklahoma my, friend one of my best buddies from college
is getting married out, there So i'm gona see a
lot of old college, teammates college. Coaches should be a fun.
Weekend but other than, That i'm just In, denber you,
know training and getting ready with the guys that are still.
Speaker 5 (29:13):
Here for this upcoming.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
Season had a, boy enjoy your downtime Because i'm telling
you we will be back at it before you know.
It looking forward to seeing you back on the. Field
let's keep that progression in that. Separation let's keep that
going in the right. Direction Marvin, Mins junior appreciate you
joining us here on The.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
Insiders, yes, sir thank you for having me fourth and.
Speaker 6 (29:33):
Goal last shot as The american team makes their.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
Move, hanni get on the. Move look you got. It
jacksh has His nobill.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
Moment that's a walk, off have a, Week have a,
week young, man and he's.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
Emotional daniel Where amiah and our Guy ret lewis there
on the.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
Call Jack, besh The Senior BOWL.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
Mvp some notable ones here in the not too distant.
Past Jack besh here in twenty twenty. Five, man what
a moment that was after the passing of his brother
just a short while before. That, so, yeah you can
get some big time moments down There. INMOBILE i can
set you up for big time moments in THE. Nfl
(30:24):
it's why we're there every, year and why we're going
to be there this upcoming off season at The Panini
Senior Bal it's not the off season actually during THE nfl,
Playoffs so we will be down there and we will
be welcomed by a new executive director of The Senior,
Bowl Drew. Fabiana she's now joining us on The insiders
thirty seven years of scouting, experience INCLUDING i believe IF
(30:45):
i recall my notes, correctly eighteen with The Dallas. Cowboys, Drew,
Congratulations HOPE i.
Speaker 2 (30:50):
Got all that.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
Right and how excited are you to be the new
executive director of The Senior?
Speaker 12 (30:54):
Bowl you, know incredibly. Excited it was actually seventeen years in,
coaching eighteen years with the with The, cowboys so it
was it was.
Speaker 5 (31:03):
Close you.
Speaker 12 (31:04):
Know the thing is is, this this this checked a
lot of boxes for us as a. Family AND i
can't even tell, YOU i can't even see straight love
love being back down in The south, again and you,
KNOW i wanted some stability instead of being in college,
football you, know because college football changes every five minutes.
Now so this was a kind of a no. Brainer
(31:26):
when they offered me the, JOB i jumped at.
Speaker 4 (31:28):
This, Well, drew you didn't also mention that you were
A gm At West virginia most, notably so you've been
on all, aspects the coaching side at, college most notably
At Tennessee, martin the scouting, side and then THE.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
Gm what changes.
Speaker 4 (31:41):
Did you see from each step and then your course
from college is the first time in the second go, Round.
Speaker 12 (31:47):
Well it was WHEN i went from The, COWBOYS i
went To auburn first as THE gm and tried to,
INSTILL i, mean just to try to install the pro
system as you know What i'm talking, about by splitting it,
up by making the answer report are more like the
pro side in THE nfl and making the high school
side more like the college. Side split those two departments,
up you, know getting enough bodies to where you could
(32:08):
actually you, know evaluate. Properly you, know then you had to,
manage you, know a. Budget everybody says it's a cyber.
Captsnod it's a. Budget it's because what each school has
to work with and what THE nil piece. Was so
it changed like about three or four times just within three,
years and you, know it's it's still kind of off the,
(32:29):
rails AND i just don't know when it's going to,
get you, know squared. AWAY i think it's probably could
take about two or three, years and it's probably gonna
have To they're probably gonna have to go Through congress
to do something because they've got to get like two year.
Contracts they're probably going to have to be employees because
it's too hard on coaches and staffs to almost reado
a roster twice a. Year it's just too.
Speaker 1 (32:50):
Hard the slogan for years and The Senior bowl has
been the draft starts in. Mobile it's why we're down,
there why we do the insiders from there and provide
the coverage that we provide here ON Nfl. Network you
have the experience on the college, side you have the
experience and the pro. Side how do you think that's
going to help you bridge these players who are going
who are finishing up their college careers and getting ready
(33:12):
to jump to THE.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
Nfl you, KNOW i.
Speaker 12 (33:14):
Think that you have, to you, know first get them
to be, very very interested in playing in the, game
because the game is still.
Speaker 5 (33:20):
IMPORTANT i, Mean mark.
Speaker 12 (33:21):
Will tell you. THIS i, mean you, know the first
question a lot of coaches ask, you do they love to?
Play do they love the? Game, well you, know guys
that bow out and bow out against the best of the.
Best that kind of shows you, that you, know, hey
maybe done a little. BALL i got to make it
more interesting for. THEM i got to make it more
valuable to. Them we're going to have some examples of you,
(33:42):
know guys that have made a lot of money by
performing during the week and performing in the. Game you,
Know i'm going to put that out And i'm going to,
show put that doubt to, agents put that out to,
players and you, know try to just make this bigger and.
Better Because Jim Jim naggan did a great. Job you,
Know Phil savage did a good job before. Him you, know,
Also i'm just trying to make. It i'm just trying
to improve every step and just trying to make it
(34:04):
even even better than what it.
Speaker 4 (34:06):
Was you talked about paying and making money during that
week while with the NL nil. Landscape, now how is
that going to change for you about recruiting the players
and possibly paying the? Players are using The panini partnership
as incentive for the players to attract the top talent?
Speaker 12 (34:24):
There you, KNOW i, Don't, MARK i don't think it's
going to get to the point where we're going to
be paying players because this still is kind of A i,
mean it is a non nonprofit, organization The Senior, bowl you.
Know and Is panina going to pay every single player
to play in this? Game, no they're. Not BUT i
think What panini brings is they bring, visibility you, know
to their. Brand and you, Know panini's going to have
(34:46):
players that they already have under contract before we even invite,
them WHICH i think they're going to want their clients
to play in this. Game and again they're not asked
to play eighty snaps in this. Game they're probably a
tops probably thirty to thirty, five you, know and you
can increase your. Value that's the biggest. Thing, AGAIN i
(35:06):
JUST i think that the realm of this needs to
be put more so. On this is still important to the,
player and the player should want to play in this,
game and hopefully they'll understand.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
That so drawing upon that and in your experience with
The Dallas, cowboys who had in your mind the best
senior ball, week whether it was practice game or, both
over the course of your scouting.
Speaker 2 (35:32):
At the senior ball and maybe he wasn't even maybe
he didn't wind up being A.
Speaker 1 (35:35):
Cowboy but you, know he really emerged for you and your,
eyes and he, said that guy's gonna be a. Player
And i'm so much sure of it because of what
happened In Mobile.
Speaker 12 (35:42):
Cooper cup Won niam. Close he showed out here and
everybody wanted to, say, oh he's from Eastern, washington always
playing at a lower. Level oh you know he's productive
because of. That, well and he comes down goes against
the best of the best performs during the, week performs
in the. GAME i, mean so, again there's so many
examples of. That even even The zabel kid last, YEAR i,
(36:04):
mean the league had him as probably a top fourth
top of the fourth, round you know grade right in.
There he performs well all, week performs really well in the,
game and he goes back in the back end of
the first in a four year. Contract that's a twelve
and a half million dollar. Difference so there's value to,
be you, know in this, game and there's value to
be invited to this game because it's a selective. Game
(36:26):
this is the best against the.
Speaker 5 (36:28):
Best.
Speaker 4 (36:30):
Jure we've talked about your experience a lot, here but
you know a lot of old experienced people have new
generational methods of getting. Communications, uh this.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
Could not be true that yesterday was your first day
ON x and so have you branched out to TikTok And?
Speaker 4 (36:47):
Instagram what were you just sticking in that way brought to.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
Try to master that then and then go. Elsewhere?
Speaker 12 (36:52):
Uh, No, mark you're. CORRECT i thought, it AND i
fought it for. Years you. KNOW i just think it's
very important to connect with these with the players and
show them exactly what we're, about you, know not just
for my you, know my ex but the singer BLE
x and you know what we're, following and we're you,
know and again it's about the. Brand it's about the,
(37:14):
visibility AND i want to show them What i'm, doing you,
know to make this a more valuable piece to.
Speaker 1 (37:20):
Them, yeah, look you got to go Follow Drew. Fabian
now now, LISTEN i want you to follow the right
one because there's A Drew fabian enthusiast.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
ACCOUNT i, mean who's running that? One put? It put
it this.
Speaker 12 (37:37):
Way THE, pr THE pr person, here moly Mil middleton already,
said you, know we have to ALERT x to that
because that is not. Me you, know you KNOW i
am Actually i'm actually d fabe singer ble like D FABE,
sb you, know so FABE.
Speaker 2 (37:55):
Sb he is. Honest he is on his way to four.
Speaker 1 (37:57):
Figures he's got nine sixty two right, now make it
ninety sixty.
Speaker 2 (38:02):
Three get me.
Speaker 1 (38:02):
On camera AS i hit the button because he's got
to get one more follow hurry up Before mark follows. Him,
boom here you. Go i'm in and you better be
in as. Well Drew fabiani's. Congratulations, man really looking forward
to seeing what you are going to bring to The
Panini Senior. Ball congratulations and we'll see you this Upcoming.
Speaker 12 (38:20):
January, absolutely, guys and thank you very much for having.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
ME i appreciate. Y'all, okay, awesee thank you very.
Speaker 1 (38:26):
Much Drew, fabriane he's probably got dinner reservations because you're down, There.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
Mobile there are some great. Restaurants he better be going
to one. Tonight Jalen.
Speaker 1 (38:33):
Hurts jayden And daniels two quarterbacks in THE Nfc east
at different points of their, career but is the arrow
pointing up for. Both we'll talk to our Guy Cam
wolf about that coming up.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
Next to the.
Speaker 1 (38:44):
Insiders come, man he's running. Back Austin eckler was On
SIRIUS Xm radio this week and this is what he
said About Jayden daniels is going to be even more
growth this, year which was.
Speaker 2 (39:01):
Kind of scary because he came.
Speaker 1 (39:02):
Out of the gates hot last year in his rookie,
season the offensive rookie of the. Year but there is
more to come And Cameron wolf knows it better than.
Anybody believes that From Austin, eckler.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
Right, Absolutely Jaden daniels had an incredible rookie, year and
the first thing people noticed when he got into year
two is he's been broken. Up he's been in the weight.
Room that was a question coming out of the. Draft
would he be big enough played all seventeen games and
getting a little bigger to handle the workload of this.
Speaker 2 (39:27):
Year but maybe the most.
Speaker 3 (39:28):
Interesting THING i learned this offseason Is Dan quinn told
me he's been spending more meeting time With Jayden, daniels
talking defensive, tendencies, schemes ways teams are going to try
to get advantage of him in year. Two and one
example he gave me is they ran hundreds more no
horrole offensive plays last year than any other. Team they
had tremendous success with. Them but defense are going to
(39:49):
find an answer to. It so they've been working a
lot this offseason on beyond the no, huddle getting into the,
huddle how to handle different blitzes and scheme changes so
that Jadenon daniels can be ahead of the changes that
defenses bring to him next.
Speaker 1 (40:02):
Year Else, Yeah elsewhere in THE Nfc, East Kevin, patulo
the new offensive coordinator for The, eagles right now spending
time caddying for his Daughter lauren was an amazing high school.
Golfer shot at sixty eight the other. Day that's, unbelievable
but pretty soon going to be coaching Up Jalen. Hurts
what does that mean For hurts in twenty, Five.
Speaker 3 (40:20):
Well first of, all we all need golf skills lessons
from her than sixty eight is. Incredible but the big
thing For Jalen hurts six different play callers going into
a sixth. Year he talked about the collaborative effort that
he And Kevin petulo are having formed this. Offense it'll
revert to some of the things they had success in
in twenty twenty, three not as dramatic of a change
as they had With Kellen. Wore but the big thing
(40:42):
for This eagles team is finding the ways to reinvent
themselves after A Super bowl. Title Jalen, hurts known as
one of the hardest workers on the, team has already
been getting advice From Michael jordan and. Others last, year
it was handling the. Blitz this, year minimizing his sacks
a little bit more and trying to get that second.
Speaker 1 (40:58):
Ring camerawolf school is out for, summer albeit a brief.
Speaker 2 (41:03):
One you are.
Speaker 1 (41:04):
Dismissed we will not be back Until july, Fourteenth so
we're going to tell you what we're. Watching even insiders
need to break from time to, Time Mark, ross this
show is ninety seconds away from a two week. Break
doesn't mean the news is going to stop and we'll be,
around will pop on if something.
Speaker 2 (41:24):
Happened so with that being, Said, mark what are we looking?
Speaker 1 (41:26):
At what are we expecting that maybe is going to
wrap up when we come back right on the verge
of training.
Speaker 2 (41:30):
Camp, well hopefully what's.
Speaker 4 (41:33):
Get wrapped up is the contracts or extensions for three
of the biggest pass rushes in THE, Nfl Mike Michael, PARSONS.
Speaker 2 (41:40):
Tj, watt And Trey.
Speaker 4 (41:42):
Henderson number. Three we'll put him third tray and get that,
Anyway so see if the, teams each one has their
own unique. Situation but are these guys going to get
done and extended make everybody happy going into the season
of hope in training camp or?
Speaker 2 (41:55):
What, yeah we've got a couple of.
Speaker 1 (41:57):
Guys, Look terry McLaurin is still one that's hanging out
there as. Well the commander's wide receiver wasn't. Happy he
made it clear in the spring that he was willing
to stay. Away that's a.
Speaker 2 (42:05):
Contract extension that's going to have to be.
Speaker 1 (42:07):
Done going back to the pass, RUSHERS i still have
the utmost, confidence AND i know The steelers feel really
good about the offers that they have put out THE.
Tj Watt at this, POINT i think that one's going
to get wrapped up. Quickly The Trey hendrickson one's gonna
be a tricky one and has been a tricky one
because The bengals hadn't been willing to go there in recent.
Negotiations let's keep an eye On Jalen ramsey as. WELL
i know there's talk about potentially.
Speaker 2 (42:29):
Him joining The. Rams there's a lot of moving parts.
There we'll.
Speaker 1 (42:31):
See we'll wrap it up when we come. Back in the,
meantime in, anywhere enjoy your, Break, mark enjoy your, break.
Everybody Pella, saro wrap for. It wherever you, Are batista
you as. Well insider's album
