Speaker 1 (00:08):
This was a unanimous decision. Like when we talked about it,
this was unanimous from top to bottom. And again when
you look at it, there's gonna be adversity. I don't
see this as adversity.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
A player like Micah and is very unique and very
rare is it that they're available?
Speaker 3 (00:26):
Right?
Speaker 2 (00:26):
So as this kind of came together, it was just
one of those things where it was a unique opportunity
for us, and it was it was going to cost right,
there was going to be some expense with it, but
we just kind of thought it was the best thing
for our football team.
Speaker 4 (00:42):
It was not a dream for Cowboys or Packers fans.
Michael Parsons is indeed a Green Bay Packer. Welcome inside
with the insiders alongside Judy Batisa and Ian Rappaport.
Speaker 5 (00:56):
I am Tom Pellicero.

Speaker 5 (01:13):
MICHAEH.
Speaker 4 (01:13):
Parsons in Green Bay actually set to head to the
podium within the next few minutes. We will bring you
live to Green Bay shortly where Michael Parsons. We have
photographic video proof of him getting off the plane. This
is the type of treatment you get in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
I know exactly where that runway is the same one
(01:33):
where you had Brett fav arriving on a variety of occasions,
the same places you've had a bunch of different players.
In this case, Michael Parsons maybe the biggest acquisition for
that franchise certainly in terms of a trade in over
three decades.
Speaker 5 (01:48):
Safe to say his GM.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
Brian goodacounts today it's feeling pretty good about it.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Player like Micah is very unique and very rare is
it that they're available?
Speaker 6 (02:01):
Right?
Speaker 2 (02:01):
So as this kind of came together, it was just
one of those things where it was a unique opportunity
for us, and it was it was going to cost right,
there was going to be some expense with it, but
we just kind of thought it was the best thing
for our football team and we're.
Speaker 5 (02:15):
Excited to get him.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
We're excited to get him out there and get him
with our team so that you know, he can you know,
get up to speed as fast as possible. The chances
of these things kind of happen are pretty slim, you know,
And I kind of think that was my mindset the
whole time. I was going to keep the conversations going
because of the uniqueness of the player. But you know,
I don't think it was really until the last few
days that I actually thought, hey, there's an opportunity here
(02:37):
that to really to close this thing out.
Speaker 6 (02:41):
Obviously, I don't think there's much that he can't do.
It's just how do you get him acclimated to what
we're doing and then you can kind of let the
creativity come out. I think I got a lot of
confidence in half in our defensive staff that we'll be
able to put him in positions to maximize not only
(03:01):
his ability, but everybody around him. I just know from
having a game plan against him, that is something that
keeps you up at night when you're going against a
player of his caliber. And now we feel like we've
got a lot of other pieces around him that it's
going to be that much more challenging for our opponents.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
Packers gave up two first round picks and starting nose
tackle Kenny Clark to get Micah Parsons. They also gave
him the biggest non quarterback contract in NFL history. Four years,
one hundred and eighty six million dollars, a new money
average of forty six point five million dollars per year.
A little more info, forty four million dollars. The sign
he makes one hundred million through the first two new years,
(03:45):
deal one hundred and forty one over three and in
essence has everything fully guaranteed for the first three years
of this contract. Ian That shows how badly the Packers
wanted to get Michael Parsons, not just the draft capital
and giving up a core member of their team, but
doing the type of contract that Green Bay historically has
not done for anybody besides the quarterback. They clearly knew that,
(04:10):
even after working out the trade compensation, they also needed
to make this financially worth Michaeh Parsons while and boy
did that.
Speaker 7 (04:17):
Yeah, they sure did him.
Speaker 8 (04:18):
This was one of those contracts kind of like Aaron
Donald his last contract to Dak Prescott and Derek Stingley,
where you're like wow when you see the very real
and spectacular numbers for Micah Parsons. Brian good Against laid
it out, Judy, this was going to cost them, and
once it became clear that the Dallas Cowboys were not
only open to trading Michah Parsons, but really on Tuesday
(04:41):
into Wednesday that had agreed to a deal with the Packers.
The leverage shifted a little bit. Then it went to
Micah Parsons to say, and his agents and athletes first
to say.
Speaker 5 (04:51):
You know what, you want to do this deal.
Speaker 8 (04:53):
If you want to complete this deal for this unbelievable player,
you were going to have to pay. And you know,
from an accounting standpoint, mi Parsons gets forty seven million
dollars per year new money. The Packers, because they now
take on five years of the deal, can account for
it as far as forty two million dollars either way.
These kinds of players, Judy, are never ever available unless
(05:15):
you're picking like number one in the draft.
Speaker 7 (05:17):
That's why the Packers had to do it.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
So we've earned now from Jerry Jones late last night
at some length, we've heard now from the Packers. We
are about again within minutes here to hear from Micah Parsons. Judy,
I'll post the same question to you right now that
I posed to you last night about Jerry Jones. After
all this months of drama a shocking, blockbuster trade a
week before the season opener. What do you want to
(05:42):
hear from Micah as he gets before reporters for the
first time in Green Bay?
Speaker 9 (05:46):
Well, I want to hear how he feels about having
been traded. This is a player who probably until very
very recently thought he would spend his entire career in
one place, given the kind of player he is, or
certainly spend a long time in Dallas than he ended
up spending. I'd like him to go back a little
bit and tell us when did he first realize that
(06:07):
he might be traded? At what point in this process?
As you said, this has stretched on for months and
months and months, when did he finally realize I'm not
going to be a Dallas cowboy for much longer? Or
the Green Bay Packers his hand picked destination. Is this
the place where he told his agent get me there,
I want to go there. How did this come to be?
And then, of course, how does he feel going forward
(06:29):
about being part of the Green Bay Packers? How does
he view that franchise? Where does he think that team is,
Where does he think he fits into where this team
is headed? Again, Michael Parsons is a player who almost
certainly until very very recently thought he was going to
be either a career Dallas Cowboy or spend almost all
(06:49):
of his career with the Dallas Cowboys, maybe that he
would leave towards the end of his career. He surely
did not come into this when this whole thing first started,
thinking that he would be traded with the best years
of his career ahead of him, As Goody said, and
I also, of course, I think we all want to
hear what he thinks about the contract that he earned.
Speaker 5 (07:10):
You know what I want to know. I want to know.
Speaker 8 (07:12):
What this was like for him, like as a person.
Like the football player is gonna be awesome. This defense
is going to be nasty. I know Halfway's gonna be
loving it. Green Bay Packer fans are gonna love this guy.
I would like to know those clips we show of
him just walking around practice. There was an awkward conversation
with Jerry Jones at practice some point has it been
able to practice by his choice? But hasn't been able
(07:32):
to practice with a back injury? As he held in,
how was it like?
Speaker 5 (07:36):
What was it like going through.
Speaker 8 (07:37):
The end result And we saw that picture we showed
yesterday with David mulligat his agent facetiming and being like,
we got your deal.
Speaker 7 (07:44):
This trade is happening.
Speaker 8 (07:46):
That was amazing, and that was pure ecstasy on the
face of Micah Parsons.
Speaker 5 (07:50):
Tom.
Speaker 8 (07:50):
But I want to know on a day to day basis,
from like March when you had the first conversation with
Jerry Jones to yesterday when the deal was done, were
you miserable every day?
Speaker 5 (08:00):
Were you confident? Did you know you were like?
Speaker 8 (08:03):
I have a lot of questions and I am very
much looking forward to hearing Mike answer all my questions.
Speaker 5 (08:08):
But hopefully someone in Green Bay.
Speaker 4 (08:09):
Lask and our guy Brian Baldinger coming to us from
Parts unknown before heading down for some boogie boarding this evening.
Speaker 5 (08:16):
Baldy, I'll make it quick here for you.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
You hear the news on Micah, you think about what
the potential fit is in Jeff Hafley's defense, what do
you make of this trade?
Speaker 5 (08:26):
I think it's an awesome fit.
Speaker 10 (08:27):
I mean, literally minutes after the trade happened yesterday, I
just posted a picture of Mike and myself at training
camp and he was smiling, happy, and I'm like, go
pack go the packer back and within minutes Micah just
texted me back like LFG, like you know, let's go,
Like he seems ready for it. Jeffffleet did an unbelievable
(08:50):
job last year. It was exactly what Matt Lafleur wanted.
They went to a four man front. They wanted four
guys getting after the quarterback. They went to press coverage
on the outside.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
They want to.
Speaker 10 (09:00):
Force everything to the middle of field where Xavier McKinney
had eight interceptions. They wanted to take the ball away.
They took it away thirty one times last year. What
Micah brings is a guy opposite Rashaan Gary or he
can line up in other places. You really can move
them around and make offenses. Like Batt Lafleur discussing the
press conference minute to go, you could make offenses. Really
(09:20):
try to gain plan for him. But his speed, his
ability to change directions, and the fact that he's never
on the ground, he's wrestling background. He has incredible balance
and if you get the quarterback moving in any direction
off the spot, nobody chases down a quarterback faster or
with more violence than Micah Parsons like. He is just
(09:43):
a great, great fit for what Jeff Hafley wants to do,
and so Rashon Gary's coming off his first Pro Bowl appearance.
He's a guy that can bring really something that Micah
has had very little of in his four years in
now somebody really opposite him that can really also flush
to quarterback. And then when you push the pocket and
you got guys like Edwin Cooper at linebacker right now,
(10:06):
they're going to be very, very difficult to deal with,
I think from a game plan standpoint, and how they
can affect the quarterback with Micah really leading the charge.
Speaker 9 (10:15):
You know, they were a top ten defense in points
allowed and yards allowed last season, and strangely, they were
more towards the middle of the pack, and like quarterback hurries,
quarterback hits, quarterback pressure, they were more towards the middle
of the league. That of course, is what Michael Parsons
can bring to them, right This is what he does,
and so you have to think that that defense now
(10:38):
elevates even further that I think actually puts more of
a spotlight on Jordan Love, who of course had the
up and down season last year because he had the injuries,
but that team still went to the playoffs. They won
eleven games despite having a pretty banged up quarterback and
pretty uneven quarterback play for most of the season. Now
you've added you've got Jordan love back kealthy, you've added
(11:01):
a first round wide receiver, and you've added a generational
pass rushing talent in the prime of his career. The
Packers are certainly prepared to make a deep push. I
would think in the NFC this year.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
I'll slip over to the other side here, Baldy, because
there were plenty of Cowboys fans getting the tweet alerts
from me and Ian and Jane last night with the
details of this training, just going what are we doing?
Speaker 5 (11:26):
What is the plan?
Speaker 4 (11:27):
We also heard Jerry Jones saying a big part of me,
he said, within the first five minutes of a very
long press conference, stop the run.
Speaker 5 (11:33):
We need to stop the run. We only were negotiating.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
With teams that had a defensive tackle to give us.
You know Kenny Clark, but you also know where the
strengths and weaknesses are of that Cowboys team. In terms
of this swap, Michael Parsons out Kenny Clark and even
setting aside all this stuff about the first round picks
and all that How is this going to impact this
Dallas team in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 10 (11:55):
I just could impact it in a negative way. All
due respect to Jerry In and his decision and what
they decided to do, because it sounded like last night
it's an organizational decision.
Speaker 5 (12:05):
It wasn't just his.
Speaker 10 (12:07):
I find that hard to believe, actually, but uh, you know,
the star players win you football games, and this league
is built on stars, and Micah is a megastar. The
Giants never beat Michael Parsons when he was in the lineup.
All he did was destroy their offense. You know, I'm
going to be in South Philly on Thursday night when
(12:27):
the Cowboys face the Eagles, and I can tell you
right now that Blane Johnson and Jordan Malata were prepared
for a beast off the edge and they're not going
to see him. We'll see him later on the year,
but they're not going to see them on Thursday night.
And not that they're gonna bring up breathe a big
sigh of relief. They'll have guys that come off the edge.
They mentioned Marshawn Neel, and they mentioned Donovan Ezeraklu, the rookie.
(12:51):
They mentioned other guys Sam Williams. None of these guys
will ever be Michael Parsons ever, and so they're gonna
lose their star player. And you know, you look at
what Matt Eberfliss wants to do. He wants to rush
with four guys and get home. And I'm sure he
was gonna plan on moving Mike around and putting him
(13:12):
in different spots the way they're capable of doing. You
get him on a running back. There's no running back
in the league tack and match up with him. There's
ways to get him free and to chase the quarterback.
They don't have that guy right now, and so they
lose a lot. And you could talk about draft picks
all you want. Michaeh Parsons hasn't been in any of
the last four drafts. There's only been one Micaeh Parsons
(13:32):
in the last four drafts, and it's him. And so
maybe another guy comes on down the pike that looks
like him, plays like him. I don't think Abdul Carter
is Michaeh Parsons, but regardless he is, he is the MPP.
He is the Micah Parsons problem that all thirty one
other teams were trying to deal with over the last
(13:52):
four years.
Speaker 8 (13:53):
Yeah, and Baldi, he did a great job of explaining
why the Green Bay Packers had to go for him, because,
as we talked about, these guys are not available from
a Dallas perspective. This is what I keep coming back to, like,
Dallas has drafted one so unbelievably well over the last
five or six or even more years that they've actually
run into a problem because they have to pay all
(14:14):
these guys top of the market, which kind of turned
their roster top heavy and basically created the necessity or
decision whoever you want to say, of making this decision
to trade Micah Parsons. But all they do, all they
do is draft offensive lineman and draft defensive lineman. That's
literally it. Now, Micah Parsons was a linebacker and they
took him. Now the factors listem as a defensive lineman,
(14:36):
so we can include him in that.
Speaker 5 (14:37):
It's literally all they do.
Speaker 8 (14:39):
And the Cowboys have been very, very successful identifying great
offensive lineman and good defensive lineman and understanding why that
is important. I am not saying at all that Kenny
Clark is going to be Michael Parsons is also, by the.
Speaker 5 (14:53):
Way, thirty years old.
Speaker 8 (14:55):
But at least this is consistent with how the Cowboys
have been successful, which is prioritizing internal offensive line defensive line,
doing so in a way that everyone's like, oh, I
guess the Cowboys are going to just take this lineman again,
and they all turn out to be really good and
it's why they've won. So at least this mission statement
has been consistent of what they've done over the course
(15:17):
of the last decade, and they've won doing it.
Speaker 5 (15:20):
Well.
Speaker 10 (15:21):
If you're trying to build a team Ian, I mean,
you could pay, you can draft Ced Lamb. He's a
great player, But would you rather have a generational pass
rusher or a wide receiver. I mean, just ask any
football person that question. I take the pass rusher over
the receiver every day, even if it's CD or Jamar
or whatever. Give me the guy that can go chase
(15:41):
the quarterback. And that's how you build a team. You
draft the quarterback, you draft your left tackle, you draft
the pass rusher, everything else you fill in. There's this
guy is just so different than everybody else, and his
speed and closing speed and changing plays and Jery could
talk about sapping on Micael was fine against the run.
You could run at Mike and that guy knew how
(16:02):
to stop the run. He was fine what he did.
But what he just did on that play right there,
like no offensive line could stay in front of him.
And if everyone to come on stunts in this like
what he's doing right here, it's like trying to stop water.
You can't stop water. It always finds the source. Mike
is just he's just like fresh water coming at you.
(16:22):
You squeeze him, It's like Jello. He's going to come
and find the opening physically if you just apply physics
to it. He like basically breaks every rule.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
Here's the everything that bears mentioning too. And Ian is
generally right in terms of how the Cowboys have drafted,
But two years ago they used their first round pick
on Mazzie Smith. Mazzie Smith is now the player that
Kenny Clark is taking the place of in that defense.
That goes to show you the fickleness of those first
round picks. And I would also mention this twenty eighteen,
the last time we saw a superstar pass rusher in
(16:57):
his prime traded. That was that in essence, there are
a bunch of picks going back and forth, but.
Speaker 5 (17:02):
It was two ones roughly right.
Speaker 4 (17:04):
The players that the Raiders got out of the Khalil
Mack trade were wide receiver named Brian Edwards who disappeared
from the league immediately. Bless you On Austin, who was
a defensive back, was not around very long. Damon Arnett
was one of their first round picks at corner that
went sideways for a variety of reasons. And Josh Jacobs,
who became a very very good player with the Raiders.
(17:25):
They didn't get a long term deal done, and now
he is teammates with Michaeh Parsons in Green Bay. They
do have a lot of capital to build this thing,
but you better be careful that you hit on those
picks or this is not going to look anything like
the Herschel Walker trade that Jerry liked to invoke last night. Well,
also here from the guy who went the other direction
(17:46):
in that trade. Kenny Clark has joined the Cowboys at
the Star and he've joined r Jane Slater.
Speaker 5 (17:52):
That interview and Mike coming up next on the insectives.
Speaker 4 (17:58):
Michael Parsons's next Thursday Night off because he's no longer
a member of the Cowboys who were back on the
practice field for their first practice of the post Parsons era,
coach Brian Schottenheimer seeing there, clapping enthusiastically. The advisor remains backwards,
but is there a season still heading straight ahead?
Speaker 1 (18:21):
This is a unanimous decision. Like when we talked about it,
this was unanimous from top to bottom. And again when
you look at it, there's gonna be adversity. I don't
see this as adversity. I think that again, guys will
step up, guys will really do a great job of
again bringing these new pieces into the locker room and
(18:41):
the culture and get them up to speed. It was
cool for some of me just looking over during practice
today and seeing Kenny talking to Dante Fowler and Donovan Azraku,
and you know it kind of that's what you want.
You know, these guys aren't all standing off by themselves, going, oh,
you know what's going on? Like, no, it's not what
you do in this business. I was confident he would
be back, you know. I think at the end of
(19:04):
the day, you know, we're you know, happy for Micah
his family. You look at the deal that he got,
you know, that's that's awesome. I wish him nothing but
the best. I mean, he's done an incredible job here
for the Cowboys for the last you know, four years.
Speaker 4 (19:21):
Right now, let's stay in Dallas where Jane Slater was
over there with the Cowboys earlier today on a unique
day in team history. Jane, you heard everything Brian Schottenneimer
had to say right there.
Speaker 5 (19:33):
What were your takeaways?
Speaker 11 (19:35):
Well, I thought what stood out to me was he
made a point of saying that Micah is still family.
He might no longer be with the Cowboys, but that's
how they view him. He also said that he made
a point to reach out to about fourteen or fifteen
players last night. One of them was Trayvon Diggs, who
was very close to Micah Parsons on this team, and
he said he wouldn't divulge the results of some of
(19:55):
those conversations, but he thought it was important that they
at least had a space to vent and talk about
how they felt about the things. I mean, when I
talked to Brian Schottenheimer at his introductory press conference, I
said to him, what do you want to be remembered
for when it's all said and done in Dallas? And
he said, for building the best culture in sports, and
(20:16):
that's what he's trying to do around here. I mean,
Jerry highlighted it yesterday at the presser. A third of
this team is new. It's a new coaching staff. And
when I saw number ninety six, which is now Kenny Clark,
he was coming out onto the football field with Demarvia overshown.
And so we're already beginning to see Arry see some
of the video right there. We're already seeing the imprint
(20:40):
of what Brian Schottenheimer hopes takes shape on this team.
As one person described it to me earlier this afternoon,
most of this locker room has bought in to Schottenheimer
in this culture. There's been a few that haven't, but
this was a very clear And when I say haven't,
it's I don't want to make that because I know
with Cowboys it can be a whole big headline. What
(21:00):
I'll say about that is this just sent a very
clear message that we want to be a family around here.
It's about energy, it's about buying into the process. It's
about being men. It's about showing up to the treatment room.
It's about lifting, it's about watching tape on the side.
And so those were some of the things that stood
out to me from his press conference today when he
(21:22):
said it was unanimous, we're not taking a role call here,
which one of you was against Micah Parson's, which one
of you said, get them out of here. You're not
going to get that from this locker room moving forward,
especially when they've got the Eagles in six days and
that's really where their focus is right now.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
You were in that locker room too today, Jane, and
every NFL player, every high level laughing. I think every
human being wants people around them who make them better.
They want to have coaches who can improve their play.
They want to have teammates that can make them stand
out more. Michael Parson certainly does that by so virtue
of it takes two or three guys to block them.
(21:59):
That frees some things up for the other players. In
that locker room today was a shock. What was the
emotion and how much of a distraction is this less
than a week before they opened the season against the
defending Super Bowl champs.
Speaker 11 (22:12):
Well, conveniently, a lot of players didn't make themselves available.
Speaker 5 (22:16):
They were lifting or getting treatment.
Speaker 11 (22:18):
Tom But the ones that I did speak with, I
talked to George Pickens, and I said, you've got a
unique point of view, what are your thoughts on this?
And he just talked about sometimes a different environment is
good for you, and this, from what he could see,
sounded like something that both sides ultimately needed to do.
Here at the end, when I talked to Osa Digiezua,
(22:38):
this was a guy that lines up at defensive tackle.
He'll be lining up alongside Kinney Clark. He said he
was shocked by it. Didn't necessarily expect where this was
going to go. I think shock is probably the good
word around there, because we've seen so many of these
negotiations play out until the eleventh hour, so I think
there was a mild bit of shock that Micah Parsons
wasn't in the locker room. But for the most part,
(23:01):
they're playing their cards close to the vest, and like
I said, they're really focused on moving forward. I did
get a chance to talk with Kenny Clark today and
I think fans go listen to the interview I posted
on Twitter. I think they're really going to be impressed
with him. You know, I've seen one knock on the
interwebs about you know, he's twenty nine years old. He
had one of his worst seasons last year. He is
a three time pro bowler. When I asked him about that,
(23:22):
I reminded him, Hey, I was at that Packers game
against the Eagles in Brazil. Get injured your foot? How
is it? He says, it's fine that this team is
going to get all that he's got. I also said,
how long is it going to take for you to
get acclimated? In other words, at that position? How long
does it take to necessarily know the playbook? And it
was Matt Eberflus who told me, you know, the Packers
(23:44):
defense is very similar to what they're running here in Dallas.
He says, this one's going to be really easy for
to pick up on. They're going to spend some extra
time with him. But it sounds like, according to Clark,
he'll be ready to play against the Eagles next Thursday night.
Speaker 4 (23:58):
Last thing for you real quick here, ja, because one
thing that Brian Schottenheimer said stood out to me, and
not that any coach in the entire league is going
to go to the podium and go, hey, we're shooting
to be eight and nine this year.
Speaker 5 (24:09):
He said, the goal is still to win a Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (24:12):
The actions of the Dallas Cowboys trading away one of
their best players at age twenty six for two first
round picks and granted a defensive tackle that Jerry Jones
made abundantly cleary things can help him right now. Those
are not the actions of a team that believes this
is the Super Bowl window right now.
Speaker 5 (24:29):
Internally.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
I know Brian Schottenheimer's an optimist, but do they believe that?
How do they actually look at the expectations and what
they should be right now? Before all, you can use
all those picks right now in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 11 (24:42):
They're not going to say it, but I think this
is obviously a little deflating when you consider you don't
have a guy like Micah Parsons on either side of
the ball. As somebody pointed out to me, it's just
going to make it harder for Dak Prescott in the offense.
In other words, this is going to just put more
pressure on them.
Speaker 5 (25:00):
Can they handle it?
Speaker 11 (25:01):
I think George Pickens and what they did in the
off season getting him certainly helps them. If you can
get Jayden Blue out there and really pop for you, yeah,
I think they've got some things here. And then keep
in mind here in the next couple of weeks. You're
going to get to Marvin Over shown back, Trayvon Diggs,
You've got Jeron Bland, Kayln Carson was off to the
side working off on you know, with Britt Brown on
(25:21):
some of the cords, and so you do have players
coming back. You know, before this Micah Parsons thing happened,
I was telling people I actually thought the Cowboys were
going to be better than what was projected. I don't know. Now,
we'll just see what Matt Eberflus is able to do
with some of his creativity along this defensive line. But
I think it's smart too, at least especially with the
Dallas Cowboys temper. The expectations the all in from Jerry
(25:45):
certainly didn't help them put a big target on their back.
Speaker 4 (25:50):
A lot of great revenge games on the twenty twenty
five NFL calendar. Add another one week four Packers Cowboys,
the return of Micah Parsons, who for the first time
in his still young career, it's to chase around Dak Prescott.
Time now to go inside with NFL Fantasy Live. It's
(26:10):
Tom Pilaicero Ian Rapport and our guy Adam Rank. It
is College Colors day, So we're gonna let it slide.
Whatever in the world you're wearing college color days that
Comcast repping cal State, Fuller.
Speaker 12 (26:23):
Ten, Boston College. Do you even have a baseball team? Like,
what's going on?
Speaker 5 (26:28):
Yeah, they gotta do. They gotta do a stadium.
Speaker 4 (26:29):
They don't play in the parking lot where the football
team had tailgates anymore, which is how it was when
I was in college. All Right, we got fantasy impact
to everything, including a trade of a defensive player.
Speaker 5 (26:41):
Let's start with this.
Speaker 4 (26:42):
We'll start with some of the Cowboys potentially who could
be in different types of games. What, in your mind,
rank is the impact on Dak Prescott of not having
Michah Parsons on the other side of the ball.
Speaker 12 (26:53):
Yeah, we're anticipating the game sp script to switch for
the Dallas Cowboys. They could be in a lot of
high scoring contest, similar to what happens with the Cincinnati
Bengals last year, where Joe Burrow and all those guys
were putting up prolific fantasy point totals.
Speaker 7 (27:09):
And Dak Prescott has shown in the past.
Speaker 12 (27:12):
The last time he played a full NFL season in
twenty twenty three, he had the most touchdown passes of
anybody that season, I expect because.
Speaker 7 (27:22):
They will be in a lot of these high scoring games.
Speaker 12 (27:24):
Dak Prescott is going to be one of the most
coveted quarterbacks in fantasy football. I see him approaching the
four hundred point total that Joe Burrow hit last season.
Speaker 7 (27:33):
And it will also impact Ceede Lamb.
Speaker 12 (27:36):
Now we know that Ceedee Lamb has also been a
very prolific fantasy player over the years. Two seasons ago,
he was the wide receiver one. Last season a little
bit of a disipployment. He was still the wide receiver eight,
but the numbers weren't as good, but part of that
was because of the injury concerns or the injury situation.
Speaker 7 (27:53):
With Dak Prescott.
Speaker 12 (27:54):
Now that Dak Prescott is healthy, he's going to be
out there putting up monster numbers once again. Where he
go into this draft season saying Jamar Chase is the
number one receiver in fantasy football, you can make a
really solid case that that guy is actually Cede Lamb
and I will be targeting him this weekend. And George
Pickens and again not to be real lazy with these comparisons,
(28:15):
not trying to say, look, this is going to be
the t Higgins of this offense. But George Pickens comes
into a situation where he's going to be a true
one be wide receiver for Cede Lamb.
Speaker 7 (28:27):
The first time this has happened for the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 12 (28:29):
Since say inexplicably traded away of Mariti Cooper, and now
George Pickens will go out there with some high end
wide receiver two potential. Again, we're expecting targets. They're moving
him around too. They're not just having them run nines
from the X spot. They're actually putting him in the
slot a little bit as well. There's gonna be tremendous
opportunity for George Pickens.
Speaker 8 (28:51):
Okay, so that's the Cowboys impact. Obviously they lose Micah Parsons,
the Packers gain him. Take me through the fantasy impact
for parsons new team.
Speaker 12 (29:01):
Well, obviously, if you're gonna be drafting a fantasy defense,
you can go with the Packers DST. But I'm looking
at the way their offense is going to be running
the ball this season. In particular, who is going to
be running the football, and that of course is Josh Jacobs,
who last season was a pretty effective runner. He battled
through some injuries, but still in his game by game
production was very good. And again looking at game script,
(29:24):
if the Green Bay Packers are going to be in
a lot of contests where they are up running the
ball at the end of those games, Josh Jacobs could
be in line for some bonus points, some bonus yarded,
some bonus carries. So Josh Jacob is going far too
low in your fantasy drafts.
Speaker 7 (29:42):
I know.
Speaker 12 (29:42):
I say this as somebody who supports the Chicago Bears.
Josh Jacobs is being slept on way too much.
Speaker 4 (29:48):
Josh Jacobs aka my third round keeper that Rank recommended
I do even before we had this news fully confirmed.
That's why Rank is the best. Thanks a lot, Buddy
for being here. As always a lot more to come
on the Insiders and Glenn to look ahead to the
second game of the NFL season. It'll be the Chargers
and the Chiefs in Brazil. Our Obar Ruiz will be there,
(30:11):
but first he will be here to break down what
could be a really important game for the fate of
the AFC West.
Speaker 9 (30:25):
On Friday, September fifth, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City
Chiefs take on Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers
in South Powo, Brazil. Don't miss the unbelievable plays, unforgettable moments,
and a halftime performance by Carol g streaming for free,
live only on YouTube. Head to the NFL's YouTube channel
to learn more.
Speaker 5 (30:46):
Here's Andy Reid on the game.
Speaker 13 (30:49):
It's a little bit of a frame of mind. I
think if you if you said you're being honored to
actually do this because you're doing well, and that the
way you approach it. It's an honor to have an
overseas game and to be able to go to Brazil
and then as opposed, Oh my gosh, what are we?
What are they giving us? You know, that attitude didn't
(31:12):
get you anywhere. So we'll try to keep the times consistent.
There's only a two hour difference, so we should be
able to keep things, you know, relatively consistent going forward.
Speaker 9 (31:26):
Now, here's our Omar Ruiz, who's also making the trip
to South Paolo, who'll be there next week for us.
All right, Omar, tell us, how are the Chiefs preparing
for this game?
Speaker 14 (31:35):
Well, you know, Andy Reid and the Chiefs have been
in the spotlight more than any other team in the
NFL the last several years, and they've played on every
day of the week, seemingly every major holiday, all times
during the day.
Speaker 5 (31:45):
But Andy Reid trying.
Speaker 14 (31:46):
To keep that schedule as close to a normal week
as possible. He was saying that today is like a Monday,
Tomorrow will be like a Tuesday, and then Sunday, Monday,
Tuesday would be like a normal Wednesday, Thursday Friday work week,
and then Wednesdays their travel day. He said, they're going
to hand that one over to the airlines, and then Thursday,
the day before the game, will be their walk through
(32:07):
down in Brazil, and then of course play the game
on Friday. Ass coach Reid earlier today, what's it like
managing the player's emotions for all these huge games that
they've played in over the years, and playing in all
these huge international stages, And he said, yeah, he knows
the jitters will be going, they'll be excited to play,
but he said one of the things that they have
to manage even more is what to expect from the
(32:29):
crowd in that they don't know what to expect. He said,
they'll have silent counts ready, to have normal cadences ready.
They could see loud crowd throughout on both sides of
the ball, so they'll be prepared for every different type
of crowd they can see and what sort of noise they'll.
Speaker 5 (32:46):
Have to adjust to.
Speaker 14 (32:47):
And that's something the details that they're focusing on throughout
the week this week, Judy.
Speaker 9 (32:51):
For the Chargers, this would certainly seem like an opportunity
to make a statement against their division rival, against the
perennial AFC champion, But to the Chargers.
Speaker 14 (33:01):
View it that way, well, they've lost seven straight in
this rivalry and I asked linebacker Dan Henley if they
see this as a measuring stick type of game, and
he said no.
Speaker 5 (33:10):
He said, they want to go out.
Speaker 14 (33:11):
They want to establish their identity, all that physicality. They
want to run the football, they want to stop the run,
they want to limit explosive plays on defense. But they
want to play their brand of football and they want
to establish that from week one. They don't want to
use another team to manage how they're going to feel
about their team this season, especially coming after just one week.
In terms of their preparation, Joe Alt told me that
(33:34):
he played when he was at Notre Dame over in Ireland,
so has that international game experience. It's all about controlling
the controllables. The other big news for the Chargers this
week is getting Najie Harris back to practice. He's been
practicing in that yellow non contact jersey. Offensive coordinator Greg
Roman saying he put a couple days of practice well together.
(33:54):
They'll just have to monitor how he does.
Speaker 7 (33:56):
There.
Speaker 14 (33:56):
You see him catching a pass from Justin Herbert there,
how the eye continues to heal, and if he'll be
ready to play next Friday.
Speaker 5 (34:04):
Jim Harbaugh saying.
Speaker 14 (34:05):
It is possible that he can play, but they're still
in weight and C mode, day by day mode, so
that'll be another storyline to track next week as we
get down to South Polo, Judy.
Speaker 9 (34:16):
Great game and great setting. Safe travels Omar. We will
talk to you next week from sal Polo. Thanks for
being here on the Insiders. It's a Division two Conference
champions battle in Canton, Ohio. Nineteenth ranked Virginia Union starts
their defense of its CI Double A title against twenty
fourth ranked and twenty twenty four SIAC champion Miles College.
(34:39):
The Black College Football Hall of Fame clash at the
Classic Sunday at four pm Eastern on NFL Network, NFL Plus,
and HBCU, GO Dot TV.
Speaker 4 (34:53):
Life changing money for Micah Parsons and his family, as
Micah post on social media the moment when your mama
never got to work again. Meanwhile, Kenny Clark, who was
part of that trade that also brought the Cowboys to
first round Hicks, was out on the practice field for
the first time with his new team, and then he
(35:14):
and one of his new teammates caught up with our James.
Speaker 3 (35:17):
Slayer their ice cream before I got the call, and
she she was she just been smiling ever since. She's
been smiling ever since. And uh, I mean it just
it just shows, you know that that was the right move,
and uh yeah, I'm just thankful. I'm just thankful. I'm
a party's franchise. It's a historic franchise, and uh it's
gonna get They gonna get everything I got.
Speaker 15 (35:38):
I had just got a message. I was like, what's
going on, went to my Instagram and professher just saw
the news and it was kind of shocking. Definitely didn't
see it coming, you know, about everything that was going on,
I thought I definitely was fully expecting him to still
be here. So it's definitely a little weird, but you know,
nature of the business kind of kind of happens a lot,
(36:01):
you know, so especially with the time and of it,
don't really have time to like, you know, to dwell
on it too long because we got a job to do.
Got game on Thursday.
Speaker 4 (36:13):
And now Michael Parsons, new member of the Green Bay Packers,
is live at the podium.
Speaker 5 (36:18):
Let's hear from him now.
Speaker 6 (36:20):
Welcome.
Speaker 7 (36:21):
He appreciate it, man.
Speaker 16 (36:24):
Yeah, man, I think it's sunking a little bit for me.
Yesterday I was going a little crazy with the fan,
but just being in here and taking in just the
facilities and everything, and they're welcome. I think I'm pretty home.
Speaker 15 (36:34):
Then, and really know why.
Speaker 16 (36:35):
I'm a balance and pretty aware of everything. Number Yeah,
number one, Number one. I'm going with number one.
Speaker 7 (36:43):
Could you just over the past two days, what's pass?
Speaker 16 (36:48):
Yeah, you know, once I found out about you know,
their agreement and uh came down in negotiations. You know,
at first, it was like, you know, obviously like anyone,
I got kids, I got you know, a house, I
got family that all moved down for me, and it's
a change, right And I had to sit down and
talk to my family about this. Potential opportunity. And that's
(37:11):
when you know, I got the chance to speak, uh
you know, with some other guys and Factory about what
it could be like if I decided to come here.
And you know, once I got that comfort zone and
they said, and you know, I got to talk to
Rashid a little bit. You know, that's my guy from
Penn State. Came in together just like it's like Penn State,
(37:32):
Like it's like home, Like this is like a brotherhood,
like it's safe. You focus on ball and you know, we.
Speaker 7 (37:37):
Keep everything the right.
Speaker 10 (37:38):
Thing.
Speaker 16 (37:38):
Kind of gave me comfort, and it kind of gave
me a better decision, like, Okay, this is the place
where I feel like I can take my next step
and continue to have a great legacy here. You say over, Nah,
I didn't have any say. It was just, uh, you know,
I would say I'm pretty lucky because I'm standing the
(38:00):
rich history of the Packers and the fact that they
had interested me and understand how they had a pretty
tough team already in the NFC, and I was pretty
much geared up ready to play them looking for revenge.
But now I'm on the other side of adding to
this rich history and being able to play with these
guys and suit up and you know play. I'm very excited.
Speaker 4 (38:21):
We'll have continuing coverage of like A Parsons the Packers
this trade. Stay tuned the NFL network see it.
