Speaker 1 (00:07):
Off season practices underway around the NFL in full speed
as well as Slovo, and over the next sixty action
packed minutes, we'll take you inside the action.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
From Philadelphia to Pittsburgh, to Cleveland, to Miami and beyond.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
We will also head to Jacksonville and Tennessee, where you'll
find a couple of rookies whose teams are obviously counted
on them to start fast. Jeffrey Chadia will be here
to tell you who else around the league must succeed.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
In year one.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
We'll start to longtime NFL tight end Greg Olsen as
he joins the show tonight with thoughts on Colston Loveland
in Chicago, how much time Travis Kelsey has left, and
so much more. Welcome inside with the Insiders alongside Ian
Rappaport and Mike Garrifalo. I am Tom Pelissero. We you're
(00:57):
ninety nine days away from the kickoff to the twenty
twenty five NFL season. For all those teams starting on
a Sunday, that's one hundred two days, and the Brown's
probably gonna need most, if not all, of those days
to figure out who exactly is going to be at quarterback.
The competition is underway in Buria. It's a four way
competition at the moment. Kenny Pickett is on the field obviously.
(01:20):
You know, Joe Flacco, Shador Sanders, Dylan Gabriel are there
as well. Joe Flacco, You've seen a few things.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
How about this one.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
I think it's a lot of fun. I mean I actually, like,
just from experience, I think they tend to get a
little bit of a kick out of me, just because
I am forty years old now and could be their
fathers probably, And it's fun for me, dude, in the
same kind of way. I mean, they're young, and they
have a lot of life and a lot of energy
and a lot of you know, new things that kind
of can keep me in the loop with my kids
(01:52):
and all those things. It's fun. I mean, everybody in
that locker room, it's like we're all twenty five year
olds just having the time of our lives. And look,
we get to come out here and do this for
a living, So why wouldn't we feel that way?
Speaker 4 (02:06):
Yeah, I think you just keep every competition the same,
like you're really just trying to improve daily, you know,
learning a new system, playing with new teammates. You know,
it's just a daily process of trying to improve and
you know, all that stuff that just work itself out.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Probably my favorite early development here is we also have,
of course the blow by blow from OTA practices. Those
are non Paddy and they're not wearing equipment here. You
then also have the blowback to the stats from the
OTAs are Jack Andraid from our research department posting. I
won't read the entire tweet, but more than likely this
is a content machine deliberately feeding itself in the audience
(02:41):
meaningless garbage to create a sort of pyramid scheme of
ill informed emotional reactions. Beyond that, this is going to
be a lot of fun for the.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Next couple months. How does this play out?
Speaker 5 (02:51):
I mean, I, for one understand that OTA stats are
mostly fake, but better than nothing. And for those of
us who are interested in a football competition, Jack, some
you might not be, but we certainly are. These are
just a little bit of fodder for us to talk about. Okay,
so let's talk about it. To me, the Cleveland Browns
have the most interesting quarterback competition right because what they
(03:14):
sort of do and this reminds me of what the
Seahawks did when they drafted Russell Wilson after trading for
a quarterback at signing one in free agency. They just
threw a bunch of things at the wall and said,
this will sort itself out on the field. So theoretically,
this should be Joe Flacco versus Kenny Pickett, and you
would think, based on his age, based on his experience,
spending a year last year kind of taking a step
(03:36):
back learning a different system, coming in now refreshed, this
really should be Kenny Pickett's job to earn. But the
reality is we have no earthly idea, and that's what's
so fun about this. Could be Joe Flacco going back
a couple of years, not last year's Joe Flacco, but
a couple of years ago when he looked like.
Speaker 6 (03:53):
He was going to have a career resurgence.
Speaker 5 (03:55):
Could be Dylan Gabriel, who, once you get in the league,
doesn't really matter how tall you are, it doesn't really
matter where you were drafted. Could even be Shador Sanders.
That is what is so good about this. So, yeah,
it's four guys, like Joe Flacco said, having fun. But
the reality is, any of these guys could emerge as
the starter come September.
Speaker 7 (04:12):
Joe Flack on nine for fifteen today with a touchdown,
which is huge for my Ota fantasy team, although my
opponent has Will Levis going and he's expected to get a.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
Lot of reps, a lot of reps later in the week.
Joe Flack, who else do you have on your team?
Speaker 6 (04:28):
Mike?
Speaker 2 (04:29):
What are some other players not in your team? Well,
it's like your league, we'd have IDP individual defensives that.
Speaker 7 (04:38):
Now we're talking Also that the sacks like when they
touched the quarterback, and I like when they just touch
him going by or they're in the gym. That counts
too for my Idpuh. But Joe Flacco there in a
place where he was comfortable two years ago. The year
in the Indianapolis did not go as plan for everybody involved, obviously,
But the thought is back with Kevin Stefanski and this
(04:59):
coaching staff in an environment where he's comfortable, where he
knows these guys, where he's thrown to them before, you know,
it should help the team and maybe put them in
the best position to win number one, but also help
these guys behind them. See how Joe Flacco doesn't see
how he goes about his business. That was the hope
in Indianapolis that it was going to help Anthony Richardson.
It really didn't, and again Flacco didn't quite have the
season in India as expected. But the hope is, let's
(05:21):
win some ball games if it winds up being Flacco,
and let's also show the rest of the room how
it is done.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
I should have added that post with these stats from the
Browns first open Ota practice. They yielded a lot of
comments on Instagram, one of which was from someone who's
close to Shoe or Sanders said, I want these stats
because they know it will be all Tony who deny
who the best one was through the course of the offseason.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
Quote, that's how it's together.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
I thought stat tracking and training camp was rock bottom,
but here we are.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
And if you think Jack Andraid is mad, let me
show you. Terry Bradshaw, that's a joke.
Speaker 8 (05:56):
He shouldn't. That is just to me as a joke.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
What are you going to bring him in for one year?
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 8 (06:03):
I mean that's not the Steelers w Right.
Speaker 5 (06:05):
No man, that guy needs to stay in California And
thank you and jew Row and Bark and risk it
to the gods out there.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Terry Bradshaw is many things, including a word Swiss Smith
Mike uh clearly one of the greatest players in Steelers history.
Not super thrilled with the idea of Aaron Rodgers, though
it's one that Terry probably is gonna be used.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
To, yeah, if it ever comes to fruition.
Speaker 7 (06:33):
And Aaron Rodgers hinting at that over the weekend at
that event that he was at saying, uh, he's not
gonna play for the Bears. Was it the Bears he
was asked about. He I'm not gonna play for the Bears,
but there's a team that's gonna play in Chicago this
upcoming season, that which is the Pittsburgh Steelers. I mean,
I would say to Terry Bradshaw, what are the options
right now?
Speaker 2 (06:52):
There aren't many. It's not great.
Speaker 7 (06:54):
I mean, honestly, the way that this is going, the
guy that's got to be loving it right now is
Mason Rudolph because he's the number one in Pittsburgh. Aaron
Rodgers is missing some reps. He's getting these reps. He's
got a potential to show how things are going and
then until it's done, let's say it. But theoretically falls apart.
Mason Rudolph's got this clear path right through the starting
job right now. So Mason Rudolph being the guy in Pittsburgh,
(07:16):
and I guess if Terry Bradshaw had his way, would
be the guy come week one.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Here's what I learned.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
Chew on bark is now something that we should yell
at people, and we are mad. But what's also weird
is Rogers is a cow guy. Isn't Stanford the tree?
That's the bark? He was a Stanford guy to be
chewing on bark. He's a cow guy.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
He should chew on.
Speaker 5 (07:36):
I don't know whatever Bears chew on. I don't know
whatever bar the way. That's really my takeaway from this.
That's yeah, buck Bears could also chill a bark. Maybe
I'm the one who's wrong. Here's the other thing that
I know about this Terry Brown show is wrong. The
only thing you do do is as a team is
choose the best option of quarterback. And right now, the
best option quarterback to the Steelers, with all due respect
(07:58):
to Mason Rudolph is a guy named Eric Rogers.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Sorry, well, the guy's been advocating it throughout the process
is Mike Tomlin. He has not backed off that. To
this point, the real question becomes he and you mentioned
it last night. In two weeks mandatory mini camp is
going and Rogers is still not there. Does that potentially
way on certain other people who are involved in the
decision making process? No question who the quarterback is across
(08:23):
the state of Pennsylvania.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
It's the guy who was the Super.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
Bowl MVP, Jalen Hurts now trying to open up a
potential title defense with OTAs now underway in Philadelphia, and
you might have missed this. They can still push his tush.
Speaker 9 (08:40):
I mean, it's great for us.
Speaker 7 (08:42):
We get to continue to use it and then have
our compliments off it and do different things.
Speaker 9 (08:45):
So it's fun, you know.
Speaker 7 (08:47):
It's something we're passionate about, we're very detailed about. We
put a lot of work in as a staff, and
it's exciting to be able to continue to use it.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
Let's bring our Brian Baldinger, who is at Eagles OTAs
today presumably as at a shower and change since then.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
Baldy, unless you're just really classing it up on the
sideline at.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
These practices, tell me about what you're seeing an Eagles
scene that we know is stacked and what the path
is that you and vision here for them to be
able to make this interesting and try to go back
to back.
Speaker 10 (09:17):
Well, the weather chased everybody inside today, so it was indoors.
So it was extremely spirited. But you know, sometimes you
get that when you're indoors, you're one field. I mean
there's Nick Sirianni with the blowhorn calling out, you know,
situations for the offense to react to.
Speaker 8 (09:34):
But it was good.
Speaker 10 (09:35):
I mean, I don't see anybody running some of the
drills that the Eagles run, like this drill right here.
This is the peanit punch drill. I mean they peen
it punched four fumbles in a postseason alone. But everybody,
this is the defense doing it right here in the
white shirts. But you know the guys in agree the
offensive players did it. Everybody works on the peanut punch.
But then if you go and you look at a
(09:56):
guy like Quinon Mitchell and Cooper Jean, their young defensive back,
they never stopped working on the footwork.
Speaker 8 (10:02):
I mean, here's Quinnyon right here.
Speaker 10 (10:03):
I mean, if he's not in a drill, he's working
on his footwork a NonStop.
Speaker 8 (10:08):
I mean for an hour and a half.
Speaker 10 (10:10):
So you know you watched Jalen Carter, He's just probably
looking to break another sled, still popping it.
Speaker 8 (10:15):
You're looking at Nolan Smith Junior, you know, heat off
the edge. It was.
Speaker 10 (10:20):
It was impressive, I got to admit, and they get
after pretty good nobody.
Speaker 8 (10:25):
There wasn't any dead time at that practice today.
Speaker 10 (10:29):
Everybody was busy, whether it was breakout sessions with position
groups or it was team groups or seven on seven.
Speaker 8 (10:36):
It was an impressive day over at Philadelphia today.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
And Kevin Bittullo Baldy, who we just saw speaking, it
was his.
Speaker 7 (10:43):
First time talking to the media in that kind of
a setting since he got promoted to offensive coordinator in
the new play card. I think it's a fascinating storyline
when it comes to the Eagles of this offseason because
we know how well Kellen Moore did last year.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
He was humming as an offensive.
Speaker 7 (10:56):
Coordinator and Patullo and he talked about this today, was
the guy that bridged or helped bridge what they were
doing previously from an offensive play calling and play a
game planning standpoint with what Kellen Moore had done in
other places.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
So he has that experience coming in.
Speaker 7 (11:12):
He has also been the guy that is communicated with
every position on the offense as an associate head coach,
so he bring in that experience as well. He talked
today about the lineage of play colors that he's been with,
including all the way back to his days in Kansas
City when Chan Gaily arrived there. So there's a lot
of experience that Kevin Patulo has to draw upon. The
bar is going to be high, obviously because of what
(11:36):
Kellen Moore was able to do this past season. But
that's why the Knick Sirianni has the confidence in Patullo
that it's going to be seamless and this offense is
going to continue to hum in.
Speaker 8 (11:45):
Well the bar.
Speaker 5 (11:47):
Go ahead, go Adian, Yeah, no, no, First of all,
you're right, Baldy, and certainly Kevin Battula is going to
be sewn. Who's going to be in the spotlight this year.
But if you look at this team, it's amazing. But
that's kind of the only real question. They bring back
basically the entire team plus a new draft class, plus
a bunch of injured guys who are going to be back.
Speaker 6 (12:04):
I mean, for it's a challenge, but.
Speaker 5 (12:07):
Like you hear what Saquon said, recently this week talking
about this is a top five all attend they should
be just as good this year. If everything goes well,
that is a challenge and they know this going into
the season.
Speaker 8 (12:18):
Well, just to put a button on it here Ian.
Speaker 10 (12:21):
You know, Kevin was asked today like he's the offense
can be different than what Kellen wore, you know ran
you know, the last year, and he said, well, I
bet here as long as Nick has been here, I
know the players, you know, he knows Saque, he knows
Lane Johnson, he knows you know, Jurgens at center. I mean,
knows all the personnel. So his job is to basically
cater to the talent that's out there on the field.
(12:43):
So I think it'll be different because he's calling it
and he's got a different mindset. He was the offensive
coordinator from the Jets back in twenty fifteen, so he's
called plays before. But I think he's going to build
this offense around the personnel that he has, and that's
probably a good thing because the talent on that side
of the ball is elite.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
No more two A days in the NFL except for Baldi,
who that was not the only Ota camp that he
was at earlier today, Baldy stick around.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
More from you in just a little bit.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
Titans also out on the field for OTA's They say
that they've got a.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
Quarterback, got the share. Were just going to keep showing
the safe stretching the slow motion.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
Uh fran Kellan says cam Moore, will Levis or duking
it out. We probably know where this is going, and
frankly so does Levi us.
Speaker 11 (13:32):
It's been great. I mean, I'm here from over at
Canby and you know, he's a really smart kid and
we've been able to talk to a lot about that's
the different installs that we've gone through and hearing his
perspective and how he sees things, and it's, you know,
heck of an athlete, heck of quarterback too, So it's
it's been fun going out there and playing with them.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
Caleb Williams had the opportunity today to talk about some
things that came out last week regarding his initial reluctance
to joined the Bears, his father's exploration of potential ways
to have him land someplace other than Chicago. They never
pushed those buttons, but it's in a new book. So
Caleb had a few things to say about it.
Speaker 12 (14:14):
It's been a distraction. So coming up here and talking
about it and addressing it is important today. And so
that's what we're here to do next. Is all that
went down.
Speaker 6 (14:23):
All that was said.
Speaker 12 (14:24):
Yeah, I had a I had a I had a
good visit at at the other place Minnesota with Ken O'Connell,
good staff and all of that. Obviously, you know, I
went on that visit first came here, and then after
I came here, it was a it was a I
went back home, talked to my dad, and you know,
all of the things that were supposed to be these
(14:48):
big things that everybody's been talking about recently, one never
happened in the sense of.
Speaker 6 (14:53):
They were all thoughts.
Speaker 12 (14:54):
They were all ideas. And I think if you're in
the situation, I think if your son or or or
or daughter, anybody is in the situation to be in
that position, I think you think about all of the options,
and you know and and and you look at it
the history and the facts and all these different things,
and you know, those are thoughts that they go throughout
your head in no situations, so you know, all of
(15:15):
those are thoughts. And then after I came to my
visit here, it was a it was a deliberate answer
and and deliberate and uh determined answer that I had
us that I wanted to come here, and I wanted
to come here and you know, be the guy and
and be a part and be a reason why, you know,
Chicago Bears turn this thing around.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
Caleb Williams is a really smart guy, and that was
a really good answer, I thought, Ian explained because like
I just said, they explore these things, they did not
actually push any of the buttons. And not only did
Caleb Williams get sold on the idea of playing for
the Bears after that initial visit the Bears also by
having him go out to dinner with some of the
players spend time around coaches, they also got the belief
(15:58):
that this guy will be a now under a new
coaching staff a year later, is capable of turning the
tide when it comes to the history of Bears quarterbacks.
Speaker 5 (16:06):
Yeah, everything we heard just there is really really good.
And for Bears fans who have been they've been through it,
and you know, you talk about the reasons why Caleb
Williams father did not want Caleb to go to the Bear.
The Bears fans know, right, they have lived through a
lot of it, expectations that did not go anywhere where
they thought, you know, where quarterbacks go to that all
of the stuff. Bears fans, them listening to their leader,
(16:29):
their new face of the franchise, go through it like.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
That and not just like. He didn't shoot it down.
Speaker 5 (16:34):
He didn't say, oh, that's a false narrative. He explained
point by point why it was so, why he thought,
how the Bears overcame it, why it's a different place now,
why the coaching staff is right, and why he Caleb
Williams is the right person to turn this around. I
don't know how this could have been better. And look,
this was all smirling, you guys know before the draft,
(16:55):
these were all the rumors that everyone was hearing. For
Caleb Williams to do everything could to put it to
bed completely. Today is an excellent thing for Chicago.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
I mean he and he could have taken it further.
Speaker 7 (17:05):
He could have been like, yeah, it was all accurate,
and I didn't want to come here and I wasn't
feeling that the previous regime or what because because none
of it matters at this point, right, because now it's
all about the new coaching regime, Ben Johnson coming in.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
What he's gonna do, I mean, he's gonna be He's
got the ability to be.
Speaker 7 (17:22):
Coached up based on what else we saw in that
report from Seth Wickersham as part of that book. He's
going to be coached up better than he was last year,
maybe better than he's ever been. And he's gonna be challenged,
and he's got guys around him, and he's gonna have
an offensive scheme that says creative.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
As we've seen, it's all right in front of him
and the vibes.
Speaker 7 (17:41):
Right now, nobody's played a game, nobody's taking a snap,
nobody's turning to pass in a game that counts unless
you have an OTA Fantasy team like myself. But once
we get to that point, we'll see the fruits of
everything that's happened in this offseason. And this is all
that matters. And the vibes are good right now. So
let's see what happens with Kayleb Williams under Ben Johnson.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
Josh Johnson actually entering now I believe year twenty as
my OTA starting fantasy quarterback school will soon be.
Speaker 7 (18:09):
Out for summer unless you're a tight end tight End
University once again. We'll be holding classes later in the
month of June as the players come off of the
spring session and get ready for a training camp.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
And Greg Olsen there on the left, along with George
Kittle and Travis Kelcey.
Speaker 7 (18:27):
Greg now joining us here on the insiders, gets these
guys ready to play their best tight end football, whether
it's in line, whether it's I mean, we're going to
get into all that stuff and you guys tackle it
from every angle.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
So Greg, thank you for joining us here.
Speaker 7 (18:40):
What are we looking forward to with tight End University
Class of twenty twenty five.
Speaker 13 (18:45):
Yeah, and it's hard to believe, you know, thanks for
having me on, but it's hard for us to believe
that it's year five. And what started from just a
casual text conversation between me and George Kittle. It was
right after I had retired in the spring of twenty
twenty one after the twenty season, and he's like, Hey,
a bunch of tight ends live in Nashville together if
you ever want to get down there, you know, get around.
(19:05):
A lot of the guys are young and just kind
of starting their careers that we work with. And I
was like that sounds great, and it went from five
guys and then he called me back. He's like, dude,
I got like fifteen twenty guys. Maybe there's something bigger here.
And then obviously we got Kelsey involved. So the three
of us have been hosting this event in Nashville. We
have incredible partners Bud Light and Dude Wipes and New
(19:28):
Era and Jersey Mike' stay And the reason it's so
important is these partnerships are what allow us to host
the players and to put them up and to do
really fun events. And then the really cool thing is
the impact on the community. What we don't spend on
the event, giving these guys a great experience and bringing
them into Nashville for three days. We've now partnered with
multiple local different organizations around the Nashville and around the
(19:49):
at Nashville area and around the country and give tons
of money, hundreds of thousands of dollars a.
Speaker 6 (19:54):
Year to charity.
Speaker 13 (19:56):
So it's a mix of fun, it's a mix of football,
great fellowship. We'll have eighty plus NFL tight ends this
year for three days and it's just a blast.
Speaker 6 (20:05):
It's a few days every summer that we really look
forward to.
Speaker 7 (20:09):
Jersey Greg here talking about Jersey Mike. Jersey Mike over here.
Jersey Mike now a big sponsor with the NFL joining
the party. So you guys have lined up the sponsors
that have helped you contribute to the community. My question
with this is always in my head and I understand
right it's about the position. It's about passing things forward
at the position as well. But do you ever wonder
and you ever ever hear of this like a guy
(20:30):
gives a guy a pointer and then all of a
sudden he makes a big play in a game against
that guy's team later in the seasons, like, oh man,
maybe I shouldn't have told him that.
Speaker 6 (20:38):
Yeah, And that's just the nature of business.
Speaker 13 (20:40):
You know that we all go into this and the
guys are really cool about saying, hey, for these next
three days, we're all on the same team. There's no secrets.
You know, you got Kittle and Kelsey and some of
the best guys. Dallas Clark has come back this year,
Jeremy Shockey's coming backs. We try to bring in some
like legends, retired guys and they're given every little nuance,
every trick, everything that they've learned, and they're sharing it
(21:03):
with the room.
Speaker 6 (21:04):
And I think that's what makes this event so cool.
Speaker 13 (21:06):
You know, you've got perennial all pro Hall of Fame
type guys and then in the same drill alongside them
is a guy who's just hoping to make a roster
this year. He's just hoping as a rookie to make
the practice squad. That's the first rung of the ladder
of his career. So we have everybody in between, and
it's really a welcoming, really positive, fun experience for everybody.
(21:26):
And you know, the combination of the tight end position
and the types of guys who play it, and also
just the ability of that position to continue to ascend
in popularity across football. This tight end camp has come
at a really good time.
Speaker 7 (21:41):
June twenty third to the twenty six to be exact,
that's when the camp or the tight End University will
be held. There Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Nashville. That
program will be part of it as well. What are
the like half of this is like you guys working
amongst yourselves. Then you get the kids to come in
and see all these dudes right here. I mean, what
are the looks in their eyes to be able to
share a field with some of these NFL legends here.
Speaker 13 (22:03):
Yeah, it's you know, it's really cool and anytime you
can engage with the local community like we have down
there in Nashville in the last five years, we've had
kids camps, we've had girls flag football tournaments. Just every
year it's a new experience and a new way to engage.
So we enjoy finding ways to continue to get back
and serve the Nashville community who's served as a great
(22:24):
host of ours. And Vanderbilt and you know them opening
their doors, their weight room, their meeting rooms, their classroom,
their field, they open their campus to us for three days,
which were extremely grateful for. So Nashville has been a
great host. We've been to a few of the downtown
Broadway bars maybe once or twice over the years, and
guys have a lot of fun. So it's there's something
(22:44):
for everyone, and the community aspect of it is something
we're proud of.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
Big news for your headliners too as well.
Speaker 7 (22:52):
George Kittle gets a huge contract extension this offseason, showing
that the forty nine ers believe he's still got a
lot of really good football left obviously.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
And then Travis Kelcey.
Speaker 7 (23:01):
Yeah, toy at least a little bit with the idea
of retirement when you look at him, and certainly you're
involved in looking at the league from a tight end
perspective and from every position. But working with Fox covering
these games, it's starting to change a little bit for
how Kelsey attacks the field.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
But how does he do it now? At his agent?
How do he expect that that'll continue for him in
the Chiefs?
Speaker 13 (23:21):
Yeah, and again he's gonna he's one of the few
guys that's going to be able to write his ticket,
you know, when he's done and how he goes down,
he's you know, there's only a handful of guys who
have the luxury of doing that, and he's earned that.
And Kitt'll still obviously playing at such a high level.
You mentioned the new contract. He's going to pay for
a lot in Nashville here in a couple of weeks,
so that worked out good. But yeah, I mean what
Travis is able to do, you know, his postseason numbers
(23:42):
combined with his consistency in the regular season, of his
ability to just continue to find find ways to get
open even though everyone in the stadium knows where the
ball is going. The rapport he has with Mahomes. You
just can't coach that, you can't teach it. It's special,
it's all time type connection. So well these guys have
been able to do. I think Kelsey's almost thirty six.
(24:03):
If he's not, he's thirty five getting closed. So I
just have so much respect for what they're able to
do at their age, at this stage of their career
to just continue to not only continue to ascend into
their own careers, but also take the time to pay
forward and kind of teach the guys coming up the
path behind them.
Speaker 6 (24:21):
Again, it just speaks to the character of who these
guys are.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
Before we let you go, I want to get it.
Speaker 7 (24:27):
On the opposite end, a guy starting out his career
Colston Loveland and what the Bears with Ben Johnson. Now
with Cole Comett. They add him and they weren't alone.
There were teams looking to trade up to get him.
So you look at what they've got from a tight
end perspective and the other skill positions as well. What
do you expect out of that duo with Ben Johnson
having those tools at his disposal.
Speaker 13 (24:47):
And I've liked Cole Kmett for years now, you know,
coming out of school, I thought he was a really
good He's a big physical guy. I thought they could
have used them more in that Bears offense. At times
he was a big part of it, and then at
times he would go and he wouldn't get much production.
I think the combination between him and Loveland now Adam Michigan,
he's more of the downfield receiver type tight end. And
(25:08):
you know, listen, Ben Johnson has proven it comes in
all shapes and sizes. His offense could look different year
to year, week to week, day to day. He's super creative.
He's got a lot of pieces between Romaduonza and DJ
Moore and now the two tight Ends, so he's got
a lot of pieces around Caleb Williams that he's going
to try to architect this offense to get the most
out of it, and hopefully those I'm biased, but hopefully
(25:30):
those two young tight Ends are a big part of it.
Speaker 7 (25:34):
You are biased, Professor Olson, but you're sharing your knowledge
as the other veterans are as well. With all the
tight Ends at tight End University being held this year
in Nashville June twenty third to the twenty sixth, and dude,
just hearing your voice like we're ninety nine days away.
Speaker 2 (25:49):
From the start of the season, Like we're almost there, right.
Speaker 7 (25:51):
I think we got to have you like do my
voicemail just so I can hear it and the season
will feels that much closer. We appreciate what you do, man,
Looking forward to hearing you call game for Fox once
again this season.
Speaker 6 (26:02):
You got it. Appreciate you having me pick care.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
From tight ends the wide receivers.
Speaker 7 (26:07):
Tyreek Hill's been an eventful offseason for him.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
Our guy Cameron Wolf will be with us after the
break the latest on Hill and the Dolphins.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
Dolphins OTAs are underway among those in attendance. Wide receiver
Tyreek Hill, who we last saw in a football game,
refusing to participate in said football game Miami and Tyreek
has since smooth things over and probably a good sign
that he's there for the voluntary portion of the offseason.
Speaker 8 (26:43):
What's up, man.
Speaker 14 (26:43):
Obviously emotions were high, Dan, but at the end of
the day, Man, I'm just looking I'm just looking to
move forward from that, hoping that you know, I can
prove myself improve to my teammates that you know I'm
still one of the ones man who like chasing you know,
two k still of those one chasing you know, playoff
dreams and all of that great stuff.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
Both to the conversation he was out there in Miami
earlier today.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
Cam.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
There's been a lot with Tyreek Hill really over the
past year, both on and off the field. What do
you see right now from him? The guy you heard talk,
but also the guy who looks a little bit leaner
and lighter out there running around on the field.
Speaker 15 (27:23):
Yeah, the two words Tyreek said probably five six times
defines it, prove it. He's had a tumultuous end of
last season and offseason. He admitted that he's got to
regain his teammates trust. He's got to prove to them,
as he just said in that clip, that he's still
one of them ones and most importantly proved that he
could be somebody that depend on You mentioned it, Tom.
(27:44):
He has the episode in the season finale where he
pulled himself out of the game right before the fourth
quarter because he saw.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
They were eliminated.
Speaker 15 (27:50):
It's not acceptable, and he's a team captain, and he
said today that he doesn't feel like he deserves to
be a team captain as of right now. He's got
to work on rebuilding that trust. And I saw him
out there on the field today. He's still recovering from
risk surgery, but he ran routes for about ten to
fifteen minutes full speed, simulating catching the ball. The hope
is that he'll return to catching the ball in training camp,
(28:13):
but right now he is out there. You could hear
him during practice.
Speaker 8 (28:16):
He is very vocal.
Speaker 6 (28:17):
You would not.
Speaker 15 (28:18):
Be surprised to hear him yelling out to a teammates,
yelling out to opponents, trash talking the full Tyreek Hill experience.
But right now he's trying to have a level of accountability.
And one interesting nugget from the football side of things,
you mentioned that Leener he's weighing one hundred and eighty
three pounds. He said that my focus is on speed
and endurance, being the Tyreek that I was when I
(28:40):
came into the league. He was one ninety seven when
he first started with the Dolphins, so he plans to
be lighter, He wants to be faster. He's renewing that
bid for two thousand yards and he's hoping to get
pass an offseason that's including a divorce. Some off the
field question marks and of course the big headache that
he calls at the end of the season. And right
now his teammates are saying they're happy with the progress,
but of course we got to see him prove it
(29:02):
throughout the season.
Speaker 5 (29:04):
Well, it's late May, and this is unbelievably not the
only tumultuous Dolphins issue going on. If you follow the
Twitter kind of Jalen Ramsey and I do, you would
have noticed yesterday he tweeted five, which may or may
not have been five days to June first, making him
more likely that he's traded about that day. Today with
another tweet, it wasn't four. It was false narratives Eve
(29:25):
either lame or funny. You can read it right there.
He doesn't let it fase him and he wishes us
a very nice time or whatever. But let's get to
the bottom of this. Cam June first is coming more
likely he is traded after June first than before. Where
do we stand on the Jalen Ramsey situation? And tell
me what else is going on in your hometown team?
Speaker 8 (29:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 15 (29:46):
Well, the Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said today no
new update for Jalen Ramsey as of this stage, and
right now we're playing a little bit of a waiting game.
You mentioned that June first deadline. That's a huge date
for multiple reasons. One, that cap hit dropped from twenty
five million for the Dolphins if they trade him to
under seven million, which makes a lot more sense for
a team that's light on cap space.
Speaker 6 (30:08):
Also, that salary.
Speaker 15 (30:10):
He's making twenty five million dollars, twenty one million of
which still has to be paid. They can start talking
a little bit more about how much of any of
that money they're going to pay off for a team
that wants to potentially trade them. It was interesting today
Sean McVay told local reporters that although they have not
closed the door on a Jalen Ramsey deal, they have
not had any substantial talks recently. So maybe that next
(30:32):
week university helps things for them and others going forward.
But right now, Jalen Ramsey's not in camp and they're
moving forward without him, and he does not seem like
that's going to happen going forward. But one thing that's
interesting about this Dolphins team, they have a whole at cornerback.
They believe the pass rush unit will help them cover
some of that gap. And two big additions back on
(30:54):
the practice field today. Bradley Chubb and Jalen Phillips, both
coming off of major knee injuries, and Brady each other
looked excellent today. He had a couple of sacks, including
one where he drove a left tackle back and say
Zach Wilson and knocked him on the ground. Their backup
quarterback about ninety ready to go and the rest.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
Will come when he's fully the field.
Speaker 15 (31:14):
And Jaylen Phillips, who turned twenty six to day, also
looked great and regular rep Both of those guys amping
up for the season and hopefully to give that defense
some boost.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
Cam good stuff as always talked to you again soon.
We had sad news last week regarding the Colts beloved
owner and CEO Jim Ursay, who passed away at the
age of sixty five. The Colts announcing earlier today private
memorial service for Jim Irsay will be held on Monday.
That's just coming Monday, June second. Here's what coach Chane
(31:47):
Steiken had to say about the passing of Jim Irsay.
Speaker 9 (31:52):
But every time I talked to him in the building
on the phone, every time he would always tell me
at the end coach, whatever you need for this team,
this organization, we got you. And that was the man
he was. And just thoughts of prayers with all of
them through this time for sure. And we're going to
honer this season for Jim and we're gonna win for
(32:13):
gym this year.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
One tribute to Jim Irsay saw right there shanstek and
Warring a T shirt with Jim Ersay a photo of
him during his powerlifting days. The wear something else during
the season. It is this customized patch honoring Jim Ersay
throughout the twenty twenty five campaign. Last week, America's High
School won the inaugural Region nineteen Girls Flag Football Championship
(32:37):
in El Paso, Texas. Houston Texans ownership Cal and Hannah
McNair presented the championship trophy and rings following the three
week tournament that featured thirty eight schools from eight school
districts across the region. Sponsored by the Dallas Cowboys and
Houston Texans in partnership with the NFL and l Paso
Sports Commission, the Pilot's season marked a major milestone to
(32:58):
spilight the El Paso com and highlight the collective efforts
of the Cowboys and Texans as they drive towards their
goal to officially sanction high school girls flag football in
the state. Back to tackle football, elsend. Really it's touched
this time of year. But we got Amrion Hampton out
there with the Chargers their first round draft pick, a
guy to the law with Najee Harris. They are expecting
(33:20):
a lot from in year one. But who else really
needs to succeed as rookies For answers on that, Let's
bring in our Jeffrey chidea with me, Tom Pilisero Mike
Garrifullo on the insiders. Let's start out with one of
the big names here, Jeffrey Travis Hunter going to Jacksonville.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
They give up a lot to go get him.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
Why is it so important for Travis Hunter to hit
the ground running?
Speaker 8 (33:43):
Well?
Speaker 16 (33:43):
As you mentioned, Tom, that trade is a big deal here,
obviously a second round pick this year and a first
round pick next year. Travis Hunter was the second player
ticking the draft, but he had more hype around him
than anybody on Day one because of that trade and
the way general manager James Glaston has talked about him
revolutionizing the game. He wants to play two positions. Wants
to be a receiver and a cornerback. They've got a
(34:05):
plan for all that, but it just feels like there's
a lot that.
Speaker 8 (34:08):
He has to do.
Speaker 16 (34:09):
I'm not sure he's gonna even be the best receiver
because Brian Thomas had twelve hundred yard season last season.
He's pretty good too, So Travis Hunter has got to
deliver in year one.
Speaker 7 (34:19):
I would say, let's go to a guy on the
other side of the ball, but Travis Hunter plays both
sides of the ball, So let's go to Maxwell Harriston
in Buffalo. What does Maxwell Harriston have to do this
year to drop his silver hammer on defense?
Speaker 16 (34:31):
Well, he first got to win the job. He's got
to be that second corner to Christian Benford. But once
he does that, if he can do that, he brings
something this defense has needed a lot in the secondary,
which is electric speed. Ran the fastest combined forty at
four point two eight seconds, and I think if he
can be a sure fire, lockdown cover corner alongside Benford,
(34:52):
that secondary gets a lot better. Keep in mind the
Bills last five playoff losses, they've given up thirty one
points a game. They got to be Kansas City somehow,
and this guy can play, It'll make a big difference
for him.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
Jeffery, tell me about tedor Role McMillan, number eight overall
pick to the Panthers. All day long, I've seen the
team social media accounts posting artistic photos of him and
Bryce Young clearly high hopes right now in Carolina.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
If they can get this thing rolling early.
Speaker 16 (35:19):
Well, yeah, I mean, this is the best receiver in
the draft. And he's a big receiver. And we know
what Bryce Young went through last year with being benched
and then coming back and playing well in the second half.
But to have a guy with this kind of catch radius,
the six to four frame, a go to player in
the red zone and for fifty to fifty balls. Look,
I'm an Adam THLND fan. He's about to turn thirty
five years old. Zavier Laguette was the first round pick
(35:41):
last year. He showed some flashes, but he still needs
some work. This guy is going to make Bryce Yould
his life a lot easier.
Speaker 7 (35:47):
All right, Let's go with the Falcons with Michael Watt,
two edge rushers, and Day Murray trade that first round
pick next year. James Pierce and Michael Walker and the
impact they need to have with a team that's needed
pass rage help for like the last couple of years.
Speaker 16 (36:00):
Yeah, they'd make it up for not taking one last year,
and they took Michael Pennix in the first round. So
getting Jaylen Walker and James Pierce Junior makes a lot
of sense, even though that trade for Pierce was allowed
to give up a first round pick to the Rams.
But this defense was horrible when it came to rushing
the passer. They were thirty first in sacks. They're gonna
see a lot of good quarterbacks this year, from Jane
Daniels to Josh Allen to Matthew Stafford Baker Mayfield twice
(36:23):
in the division. They've got to find a what he
got to the quarterback and if Pete can play well,
this can be a playoff team.
Speaker 6 (36:28):
In Atlanta with these two guys getting after it.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
Jalen Walker, Jeffrey, thank you very much more from him. Yes,
Jalen Walker. There were a lot of Walkers in this right,
NFL dot Com slash CHADEA, there's only one of those, chadeas.
Speaker 2 (36:41):
Mike dot Com all right.
Speaker 7 (36:44):
There is presumed starting quarterback Russell Wilson for the Giants
heading out for second day of OTA's I say presumed
because everybody Jameis Winston got reps with the Ones, might
even see Jackson Dart.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
Brian Dable indicated that's going to be the case. So
we'll see how it all shakes out.
Speaker 7 (37:00):
Read too much into it or take stats on everything
and read into that. In the meantime, whoever the quarterback is,
they're missing a key target right now.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
Here's Brian Dable. I'm the elite neighbors.
Speaker 17 (37:11):
LAK's really really just caught the ball. Elipe will be
out here today, but he won't be participating. We're just
we're being mindful of his toe that he's had nothing serious,
but we're just we're being smart with him in.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
Terms of the rehab part of it. So that's that's
where we're at.
Speaker 7 (37:32):
Listen, everybody should have co workers like Brian Baldinger, not
Brian Dabel, almost at Brian Dabel, Brian Balding or Baldi.
Take me, because you were at Eagles OTA and Giants Ota.
How did you make this all happen in one day?
Speaker 10 (37:43):
Well, you know, we are connected by the great New
Jersey Turnpike and we're at the Mercy of it, Mike.
So I was in the gym early because I didn't
want to look like a sloth at.
Speaker 8 (37:52):
Practice, so I headed up to the Giants.
Speaker 10 (37:54):
Giants Dable was speaking at nine today, so it was
on the field, you know, ten o'clock. Got an hour
and a half in there, got in the turnpike, went down.
Eagles started today at about twelve forty five. Got there
about five minutes before they were allowed us into the facility.
Watch the full practice there with the Eagles. Watch U
(38:14):
scattaboo they were. This was the day before. They were
all outside today big legs on Scattaboo though.
Speaker 8 (38:20):
Man. But then I I came over here.
Speaker 10 (38:24):
Finished the Eagles practice, came over here, did a little
podcast for a couple groups, and here we are talking
about my day right here.
Speaker 8 (38:31):
I mean, it's twice the amount of fun, Mike.
Speaker 6 (38:33):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
Look we hit Eagles earlier.
Speaker 7 (38:35):
So give me your impressions as best you can on
what you saw in East Rutherford today, Be.
Speaker 8 (38:41):
Honest with you, Mike.
Speaker 10 (38:42):
I just wanted to see the rookies out there today.
I know Milik wasn't there, so we didn't get a
chance to see that. But you know, I wanted to
see Abdul Carter. I wanted to see Darius Alexander, Marcus
bo you know you look at you know, Jackson Dart.
I wanted to see Dart throw the ball today. You know,
I just wanted to see the ball come out of
his hands. You know, sometimes, Mike, you can study all
these quarterbacks, watch all these games, get ready for the draft,
(39:04):
But until you see a guy actually live throwing the
football something I'd never done before, it kind of kind
of changes your opinion.
Speaker 8 (39:11):
I mean, he throws a tight spiral. I thought he
looked like.
Speaker 10 (39:14):
He was all row right up out there today, keeping everybody,
and then just watching Cam's cattaboy too, because I think
he seems to be pretty special. So I kind of
just concentrated on on looking and seeing the rookies out
there today.
Speaker 7 (39:29):
Yeah, they've got some really intriguing rookie elements here play
with the Giants, Guys that need to contribute right away
for a team that's gonna need a youth movement.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
Don't mind me.
Speaker 7 (39:40):
I'm just trying to figure out if there's a day
where we can get the Jets involved and see if
we can get you to work in a triple hatter, Baldy,
I think we can make it happen in the coming weeks.
Speaker 10 (39:47):
Here, well, I'll be at the Jets tomorrow at noon.
I'll be at the Jets. If they had a night
practice tonight, Mike, I could leave right now and go
to the night practice. But as of right now, Aaron
Glenn's doing everything at noon.
Speaker 2 (39:58):
Here, come on, eron, Glenn, let's make it happen.
Speaker 7 (40:00):
Let's get the triple header and all my state troopers
on the Jersey Turnpike.
Speaker 2 (40:04):
Let my man Baldy go through.
Speaker 7 (40:06):
He's got some important business that he'll keep it like
five to ten above the speed limit.
Speaker 2 (40:10):
That's it, Baltimore.
Speaker 7 (40:12):
Can we get down there, Baldy, I bet you you're
going to at some point more on OTAs around the
NFL when we come back.
Speaker 2 (40:25):
The weight is over and.
Speaker 1 (40:26):
The countdown to kickoff has begun. Single game tickets for
the twenty twenty five NFL season are on sale now.
Who's at NFL dot com slash tickets to purchase tickets today.
Tickets are available through the NFL ticket network, including Ticketmasters,
Seat Geek, and Sports Illustrated Tickets. Somebody's gonna be able
to buy tickets to see Jalen Ramsey playing somewhere in
(40:49):
twenty twenty five, and just moments after our camera wolf
weight in with the latest on trade possibilities, Jalen Ramsey
taking to the internet machine to say Parth that he's
loved every sea he's played in and the fans who
have supported him real ones know the intentions adding a
new chapter awaits Ian rapport. You are in the house,
(41:09):
Jalen Ramsey social media translator.
Speaker 2 (41:12):
What do you got?
Speaker 5 (41:14):
I translated this as Jalen Ramsey knows that it is
over with the Dolphins. Certainly seems like both sides are
more than happy to move on here. The real question
is how and when? And also I should say where.
It's a big contract. May the Dolphins have to eat money?
It is possible. Where did you go? We mentioned the Rams,
but there are certainly other teams interested. It's just a
(41:35):
lot of money. It's a lot of money for a
player who is still awesome, but it is a lot
of money. We don't know where the trade is going
to be, but Ramsey keeps pushing that it's going to happen.
Speaker 7 (41:45):
It's a lot of money, like it is a lot
of money per Ian Rappaport multiple time money, which actually
is difficult this time of year, right because if you
try to do this thing at the start of the
league year before, teams have spent a lot of money
when it comes to free agency, even you got draft
picks for the upcoming draft. You know, it just makes
it a little bit more difficult that it's happening at
this time of the year.
Speaker 6 (42:03):
But here we are.
Speaker 2 (42:04):
Let's see where it ends. We'll let you know right
here on the Insiders. A contract is tim was always strange.
Speaker 1 (42:11):
You knew you were moving on from the player. You
don't really engage until a week before the draft. Here
we are setting out past June first, which might be
scam detail. The more important date to keep in mind.
We're back tomorrow, see that, Movi
