Speaker 1 (00:02):
Week three in the NFL season is almost upon us
and it's gonna be a big week for QB two.
We will tell you who's in, who's out, and who
could be coming.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Back a little sooner than we thought.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
Kalais Campbell keeps coming back now in year eighteen in
the NFL, and he's still getting sacks when they matter
the most. Kalaeis joins the show tonight to talk about
the two and oho Cardinals playoff chances and which forty
nine Ers quarterback he really wants to face on Sunday.
The Chiefs take on the Giants on Sunday night, and
Kansas City is still looking for its first win. Brian

(00:40):
Moulder is going to be here with a Baldy's breakdown
on how Patrick Mahomes and company can finally get rolling.
Welcome Inside with the Insiders, presented by Progressive Insurance alongside
Ian Rappaport. Judy Betti said, Mike Garafolo, I am Tom
Pelisserro One day away for Week three in the NFL,

(01:00):
It all kicks off tomorrow night the Bills and the
Dolphins in Buffalo. Bucky Brooks will be along shortly to
break that game down. But first we got to talk
about a quarterback elsewhere the AFC East who's not going
to be out there in Week three. That is Justin
Fields ruled out for Sunday as he deals with a concussion.
According to coach Aaron Glenn, that means they are going

(01:20):
to turn to backup Tyron Taylor against the Buccaneers, and
Aaron Glenn says he's got faith in him.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
So there's an element within him that we also have
in Justin that I like a lot in the fact
that he's been in this league for a long time.
There's no coverage, there's no pressure that he hasn't seen.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Baker Mayfield both took and doled out punishment for the
Buccaneers on Monday night, but he's a full participant in
practice today. Tendley listed with both a foot and a toe.
In fact, I'm pretty confident he's got more than one
of those things. A little bit banged up. May miss
a practice repper two during the week, but nothing today.
He is good to go this week against the Jets.

(02:01):
Brock Purty also back on the practice field for the
first time since he suffered both a left shoulder injury
and a turf toe injury. That kept him off the
field last week against the Saints Kyl Shannan still leaving
open the possibility we could see Purdy on Sunday for
a big game against the Cardinals. Meanwhile, Jaden Daniel's status
in Washington remains clouded. Did not practice today because of

(02:25):
a knee.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Injury to not speak to the media either. Here's what
dan Quinn had to say about his QB.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
Jayden had good rehab session day, also threw out in
the field. He won't practice today, and then as we
get into Friday, I'll give you an assessment of where
we're at, you know, after we go through practice on Friday.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Vikings also going to be starting a backup quarterback on Sunday.
It'll be Carson Wentz. Kevin O'Connell confirmed today getting the
ball against Jake Browning and the Bengals for McCarthy week
to week with that high ankle sprain, at least for now,
it is going to be the Wentz show. That's a
lot here going into Week three, Judy, but let's start
out with that team in your backyard. It's the Jets,

(03:08):
who looked very competent Week one against the Steelers, not
so much Week two against a really, really good Bills team. Now,
all of a sudden, you have Tyrod Taylor, who we've
seen start games for.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
A bunch of different things. Here.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
What are your expectations and how this plays out for
the Jets in these coming weeks.

Speaker 5 (03:24):
Well, my expectations are that they're going to lean heavily
on their rushing attack, which is top ten. I believe
it's sixth in the league right now. Rushing game. That's
how they want to play anyway, That's how they want
to play when Justin Fields is in the game, or
Tyrod Taylor or any other quarterback. They want to be
a run first offense. And that's what they're going to do.
You heard Aaron Glenn mention though they love Tyron Taylor's experience,

(03:47):
he started fifty eight games, but he has not started
a game since twenty twenty three, when he started five
games for the New York Giants.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
He played in.

Speaker 5 (03:57):
Mop up duty last year backing up Aaron Rodgers. So
this will be the first time that we really see
Tyrod Taylor in a long time with sustained play. And
one thing, you got to keep your fingers crossed for
Tyrod Taylor's sake.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
And for the Jets' sake.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
Too, is Tyrod Taylor has his own injury history when
he has been given the opportunity to play. The only
other quarterback on the Jets roster right now is Bradley Cook,
who is an undrafted free agent.

Speaker 6 (04:24):
Let's get to the Washington Commander's quarterback issues. And you
heard the sound from Dan Quinn for Jaden Daniels, very
fair to say there is an open question as far
as whether or not he is going to be able
to start on Sunday. My field, guys, based on talking
to sources involved in this situation, is that the team
will air on the side of caution if there is
any doubt at all in Jaden Daniels, who is battling

(04:45):
a knee sprain and you saw right there had an
MRI after the game got checked out again. If there
is any doubt in the world, if Jade Daniels is
not one hundred percent, do not expect him to play.

Speaker 7 (04:55):
It as a long season.

Speaker 6 (04:56):
This is a team that does figure to be in
the hant field to be there at the end. They
want to make sure the young star quarterback is healthy
for as long as possible.

Speaker 7 (05:05):
Do not want to put him at risk.

Speaker 6 (05:07):
And just to give you a little more inkling as
for why I think this, Marcus Mario to talk to
the media today. Jaden Daniels did not generally the starter
talks on Wednesday, not saying that is the only reason.
Jaden Daniels also in practice today, may not practice tomorrow.
It's all seeming to add up for the Commanders.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
As for the quarterback of backy am already this season,
Mac Jones for the Saints, Yeah, yeah, Mac Jones for
the Saints. Mike, tell me about brock Purdy. The fact
he's back on the field on a limited basis, what
that tells you about his potential availability here for Sunday.

Speaker 8 (05:40):
Knocking my microphone off here, so excited to speak Tom
brock perty back on the field for the forty nine ers,
feeling good from everything that I'm here and feeling a
lot better than maybe they thought he was going to
feel at this point of the recovery. We said he
didn't go on IR because the hope was that he
would be available before that four week window that he
would be down. This is week two right here, and

(06:00):
you could see he moved well in practice today.

Speaker 9 (06:02):
Kyle Shanahan did say that.

Speaker 8 (06:03):
There's a chance that he could be the number two
quarterback as well. They say, well, he's ready, We'll use
it if we have to. We've got Mac Jones who
showed that he can play well for us if given
the chance.

Speaker 9 (06:15):
So this is going to be something that they're gonna look.

Speaker 8 (06:17):
At throughout the week and say, how close to one
hundred percent is brock Purdy?

Speaker 9 (06:22):
Is it worth it?

Speaker 8 (06:23):
We feel good enough for Mac Jones to go out
there against the Cardinals.

Speaker 9 (06:26):
This is something to watch throughout the week.

Speaker 8 (06:27):
But I will say again, Purdy ahead of where they thought.

Speaker 9 (06:30):
He was going to be at this point.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
We've talked a lot about the forty nine ers, all
the injuries they've had around the quarterback. Don't overlook how
beat up the Minnesota Vikings are right now. Aaron Jones
just one end the injured reserve. They haven't had their
left tackle Christian darrisol though at least he was a
full participant in practice today. They've had peace out on
defense Harrison Smith Andrew Van Ginkel.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Now.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
Also, they're turning to a quarterback who wasn't even on
the roster three weeks ago, Carson Wentz getting the start
on Sunday against the Bengals with JJ mccarr. What Kevin
O'Connell said today is he's responded well to treatment, but
it's really really early. McCarthy's still wearing a boot around
the facility, which should give you some indication that this
may take a little bit of time for him to

(07:12):
get back onto the field. So he's focused on the
rehab process. With the Vikings going overseas after this game,
Week four in Dublin, week five in London, potentially we
could see multiple Carson Wentz starts. They did add Desmond Ritter,
another guy who's got started experience going back to his
days in Atlanta. But O'Connell said Max Brozmer, undrafted rookie

(07:32):
from the University of Minnesota, was really good in the preseason.
He's going to be QB two, one snap away from
playing regular season NFL action on Sunday against the Bengals.
In other injury news, Khalil Mack headed the injured reserve
for the Chargers, but this is not the worst case scenario.
Is Ian and Mike reported earlier today as a possibility.

(07:54):
He now has to miss four games, but he could
be back for LA after those four games. Mac was
in a ton of pa after dislocating his elbow, a
really uncomfortable injury. May have to wear a brace once
he comes back, but not expected to be long term.
And another name that popped up on the injury report,
and if you got this guy in fantasy, pay attention
on this one. Lad McConkey, the wide receiver dealing with

(08:14):
a biceps injury. Did not practice today. We'll see what
the severity of that is. Jamarba was not asked about
it today, but certainly one two watch for one of
the bright young players who has certainly been impactful for
that LA offense.

Speaker 5 (08:28):
Judy Well, about twenty four hours from now, we're going
to be kicking this one off. Thursday Night football, Dolphins
at Bills, and the Bills have a little bit of
a sketchy injury report today. Linebacker Matt Mulano, who's got
a peck injury, and defensive tackle At Oliver. You see
it there, both out Oliver has the ankle injury. Both

(08:51):
out for this game, so a little bit shorthanded on
the Bills defense. We will see if that makes a
difference for the Miami Dolphins. It's time for good coverage
presented by Progressive Insurance, and it's time to welcome in
our guy Bucky Brooks to talk about this game. Okay,
this is an easy one, Bucky. How do the Bills
adjust their defense with those very big pieces missing.

Speaker 10 (09:12):
Look, so the first thing they have to do is
they have to play the young guys. This is why
the Buffalo Bills always stay ahead of the curve. So
they have two young guys TJ. Sanders and Dayan Walker
that are ready to play, and they have played in
games and so they'll just pick up the pieces and
even though they haven't made significant contributions, they're big, they're physical,
they play the gaff. They do a really good job

(09:32):
playing in this defense that Sean McDermott wants to play.

Speaker 11 (09:35):
And they're gonna be.

Speaker 10 (09:36):
Joined by a guy, Zion Loaje who's a pradatee squad elevation.
So you have three young guys that are trying to
kind of miss the match and make up for what
is lost with Ed Oliver. But when we think about
the Bills and what they've been able to do, they've
always been able to get their young guys on the field.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
The young guys play well.

Speaker 10 (09:51):
The seam is one that is sound and simple for
young guys to get into it, and then the development
part over training camp will give these guys an opportunity
to be successful. Don't look for them to make big splashes,
but look for them to be solid and effective, because remember,
this is the defense where.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
All eleven act as one.

Speaker 10 (10:09):
Is not really a star driven defense.

Speaker 5 (10:14):
Miami Dolphins zero and two desperately need a win. They
will take any break they can get. Bucky, thank you.

Speaker 12 (10:20):
Very much, consistent go to downfield target for Bryce Young.

Speaker 11 (10:24):
Six catches one hundred yards on fourth down. Young six.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
And it's Khalaias Campbell's turn it out to lights on
the Panthers game.

Speaker 7 (10:38):
What's up matter?

Speaker 11 (10:39):
We did it?

Speaker 13 (10:41):
Hey, that's how you call gang.

Speaker 11 (10:43):
Betty allow to being here, but part of this team.
We've got something stuscle build Betty. Let's get it beg one.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
He's thirty nine years old in his eighteenth NFL season
and still making huge plays in the clutch. Kalayis Campbell
with us right now on the Insiders with me, Tom
Pellis and Ian Roundport.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
How we doing out there man? In the Return of
the Desert.

Speaker 13 (11:04):
Now I'm doing fantastic, you know, I'm living a dream.
You know, most guys are retired at my age, and
you know, I thought about it a couple of times,
but I'm happy to still be playing ball, still making plays.
It's just been a part of something special.

Speaker 6 (11:19):
You reference something special, and obviously what you guys are building,
We'll get to that in a second, but I want
to talk about you individually. First, you had two sacks
in the fourth quarter, which, by the way, crazy, first
time you've ever done. That's still doing things for the
first time, despite playing about I don't know twenty five
years or whatever it's been.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Is there some value?

Speaker 6 (11:39):
What value do you put at being able to close
out the game as a pass rusher like you did?
Like what did that and those sacks mean to you?

Speaker 14 (11:49):
Oh?

Speaker 13 (11:49):
Yeah, you know that's when you were a kid in
your dream about like making the big plays. You think
about closing out the game. Games on the line, We
need a big play, you know, let me go to
my fast balls. We call it, you know, Like I mean,
even I'm talking to young guys, I messed him all
the time, Like if the game's on the line and
you need your best rush, where you're going to? You know,
that's kind of how I see it and for me
to be able to close out the game, that's a

(12:10):
good feeling. I love this game. I love just you know,
being back in a stadium for the first time. You know,
I think it's kind of poetic. It's a really great
story because, like you know, I mean, you couldn't draw
it up any better.

Speaker 7 (12:21):
You know, it's a dream.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
You've been on some really good teams, even the first
time around in Arizona. You went to an SC championship game.
Obviously you had to run with Jacksonville. You had a
couple of playoff appearances with Baltimore. Whuld you say this
team is special? You're building something special?

Speaker 2 (12:38):
What do you mean?

Speaker 13 (12:40):
Yeah, I feel like this team has all the pieces
in place to make a run, right you know. Obviously,
you know, every team at the beginning of the year
has aspirations to do something, you know, get to the
playoffs and have a chance to get the dance. But
for us, you know, I just feel like, you know,
we have a good group of guys who are built
the right way, who play ball the right way, who
were just give us a child, you know, to be

(13:02):
in the games that matter, and that's all you can
really ask for is just being in games that matter
and having a chance to go out there and show
the world what you can do.

Speaker 6 (13:10):
You know, you were there as as Tom mentioned quite
a while ago. So much has changed in the organization.
I know you did a ton of research and looking
around when it came to free agency to try to
figure out which teams.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
You know, which team you were going to go to.

Speaker 6 (13:23):
Obviously you wanted to go to a winner, and certainly
at two and oh, the Cardinals are showing signs of
being that back in this organization. Now, has there been
anything that has surprised you maybe compared to where you
when you left the Cardinals.

Speaker 13 (13:40):
Well, definitely things are different, I'll say. But when I
was going through my process and plan on coming back here,
you know, a lot of it came down to, like, Okay,
you know this team, you know did really well last
year in a lot of spaces and a place where
they were, you know, where they struggled at. I feel
like I had a lot of value to one of
the biggest things to stop on the run, and so
I'll take great great probably stop and run and trying

(14:02):
to make sure I can be a value riter to
the other guys around me. And so when I was
talking to you know, some of the young talent and
trying to you know, see what they have see that.
You know, the team signed Dalvid Thomason, so I knew
he was gonna, you know, play incredible. Uh, you know,
bringing Josh Whatt, who I feel like is superstarhood. I didn't
realize how every much of a superstar he is. Like
he's just young and get hungry and like just loves ball.

(14:23):
He is willing to do all the dirty work.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
Uh.

Speaker 13 (14:25):
You know, to me, it is just a you know,
easy decision once you go down to the to the
ticket of things. You know, I knew I still have
some value to give. I can still make some plays
and help the team, you know, And I feel like,
you know, I'm looking forward to the opportunity.

Speaker 4 (14:39):
You know.

Speaker 13 (14:39):
I think, you know, we've won two games. I feel
like everybody kind of expect us to win. I feel
like this week is you know, gonna be a big challenge.
Network kind of you know, we're our favorite, you know. Now,
the planning is a team that's you know, typically in
the playoffs. So that's where being our first big test
where we go out to go out there and prove
it to a team. I think the outside world is gonna,
you know, appreciate what we do.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
It feels like a big game, I mean the biggest
game the Cardinals certainly have had in several years here,
going on the road to San Francisco. Like you said,
a team that's been there at the end before. How
are those young guys on the team handling this moment?
And also what do you see in the forty nine
ers when you're picking at him on tape.

Speaker 13 (15:16):
Yeah, well, Christian McCaffrey's back, that's for sure. He's special,
you know, as a Colorado guy, you know, I definitely
I feel like, you know, I've always been a fan
of his game and the way he plays. There's not
many of us in the league like that, so you know,
I've always been a fan of his. But I mean
watching them on tape, I mean, he looks so good
these first two weeks, so close to making some big plays.

(15:37):
So we got our hands full trying to top him,
you know, past game, run game. You know, the office
goes through him, you know, but they have so many
playmakers and even with the backup quarterback, you know, he's
a first round pick. You know, we're crazy talent as well,
you know, and so that's part of it is as well.
I feel like at the end of the day, my
mindset is just you know, talk to the guys about

(15:57):
like division games. If you want to wring your division,
which is the only way to get to yourself a
playoff spot, you have to win your division games and
if you can still want a two on the road,
that gives you the best, best potential. And so this
opportunity right here for us to go out there and
still a game on the road and division, you know,
lock in. It's going to take all of us if
they everything we have, and we've have to be super
detail oriented and on a small details and playing with

(16:19):
good technique and execution. But this game is for the taking.
We have to go out there and earn it.

Speaker 6 (16:24):
So as far as their quarterback status goes Brock pretty
practice stay on a limited basis. Kyle Shanahan said, there's
a shot to play, although certainly it is far from
a certainty. You saw Mac Jones. I'm sure you've been
watching tape. You saw Mac Jones last week. Is there
a quarterback you'd rather face or do you literally go
into it and go, I don't care, Bring on whoever

(16:44):
and we'll go play. What's the mindset wise, when you
know they have a question at the most important position, you.

Speaker 11 (16:51):
Want a truth full answer. The truth four answer.

Speaker 13 (16:54):
Is I'm much rather puny against Mac Jones. But at
that time in this football and that's not a shot
because Mac is a first round talent and you know
he can do all the things. He just hasn't been
that defense. He hasn't been that offense a long time,
so you know, he just is still going through it.
But with you know, with Rock, I mean, he's he's
a master of the offense.

Speaker 11 (17:15):
He can make it go.

Speaker 13 (17:16):
And so you know, I mean, you know, I'm willing
to play whoever they put in front of me and
we go out there, we go earn it. But you know,
I think we have a little bit of advantage, you know,
which is a quarterback who hasn't been there as long
in the offense versus as somebody who's the master of it.

Speaker 11 (17:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
You've had a lot of accomplishments for the court your career.
You're Walter Peyton Man of the Year award winner. You've
also been really active off the field for the past
couple of decades here. Tell me about the initiat if
you got right now Kalais comes home homecoming with hard campaign,
tell me about it.

Speaker 13 (17:48):
Yeah, you know, when I decided to come back to Arizona,
you know, you know, there's just a lot of history
or a lot of you know, organizations that we used
to support and help, and you know, we're trying to
just figure out like a good way of doing some
stuff for the community. And so this year we're taking
the House or Refuge, which with my experience of being

(18:09):
homeless as a kid growing up, you know, we wanted
to try to do something with them every week. And
then we're picking a different charity weekly to just shine
a light on as well as you know donate too,
based off of my stats and stuff like that. And
then we're allowing other people to donate with us. So
you know, if you want to come along and help
the initiative and donate, you know, there's some great charities

(18:32):
in Arizona that could really appreciate your help. But the
main thing is just trying to be just a pillar
in the community. You know, this is so much bigger
than football. Football gives us a platform and I love
this gang. But with The real joy of it is
the doors open to be able to help so many
people on need. So I'm, you know, trying to do
my part.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
That's fantastic stuff. One more for you, a really quick
class before we let you go. One of my favorite
stories in all my years covering the NFL was you
and I talking before a playoff game eight years ago.
You're in Jacksonville, you guys are getting set to face
the Steelers, and an offhand comment, you go, I don't
care if we win two to nothing or forty five
forty two, a score that had never happened, forty five

(19:12):
forty two.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
Oh beat the Steelers on that Sunday, forty five forty two.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
So what I want you to do right now, I
want you to break out whatever crystal ball you had
that day. Tell me the Cardinals record at the end
of this season, and where you envision you guys being
second weekend in January when the playoffs kick off.

Speaker 13 (19:31):
Oh man, Uh yeah, that's a that was a classic.
You know, I don't know what a record to be.
You know, I'm hoping that will be, you know, Like
I mean, for me, I might say, like, hey, let's
win thirteen fourteen games. You know that would be very nice,
you know, going into the playoffs, you know, I mean

(19:52):
I really wouldn't mind, you know, I mean this NFC
is such like a stacked right there's you know, I
mean Green Bay is looking like a powerhouse. Eagles are
still elite, you know, with their D line and O line,
you know. I mean there's so many teams that are
are competitive in this in this in this NFC. So
for me, it's just getting into the playoffs, and uh,

(20:12):
it's just you know, still being alive, you know, in
division around, if we're still around, which I hope, I
know we can be. You know, I think, you know,
playing a home playoff game is what I would really
hope to be playing. And that said, I mean that's
when you can't give away any game. You have to
earn every win to make that happen. But you know,
I've seen crazy things happen, and I know that we're typable,
so you know, we'll go out there and fight for it.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
Or when you get that thirteenth win, you got to
come back here. We're going to play this clip back
and see if you can once again nail it months
in advance in this particular place, clayis always a pleasure
to talk with you.

Speaker 15 (20:45):
Man.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
We appreciate the time.

Speaker 7 (20:47):
Thank you man, thanks for having me.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
Kalais Campbell Cold probably play another eighteen years. Maybe at
some point you played for the Packers. For now, they
got a guy named Mikeael Parsons who's all so pretty good.
But how do they handle a very difficult task this
week on both sides of the football. Sat Nails and
Brian Baldy will be with us to break that down
next on the Insiders presented by Progressing in Shirts.

Speaker 2 (21:21):
What a great team win, man, give it up for
McMahon's coming in hit. Let's take over. How about our
defense eight.

Speaker 9 (21:32):
Pressures, four sacks.

Speaker 8 (21:37):
And offensively having over four hundred yards of offense.

Speaker 2 (21:41):
Hell of a day, all right? I got two game balls.

Speaker 14 (21:44):
This first guy he had five PBUs today and.

Speaker 2 (21:57):
This other guy had six one twenty four in a tug.

Speaker 11 (22:09):
Back out three one two three.

Speaker 8 (22:13):
I know you saw how the Packers handled the Washington
Commanders on that Thursday night, and I know how you
saw the Browns play against the Ravens and you say, ah,
this is gonna be an easy one for the Green
Bay Packers on Sunday in Cleveland.

Speaker 9 (22:25):
That's not always how this league works.

Speaker 8 (22:28):
The Cleveland Browns will be ready to give the Packers
their best shot. Stacy Dale's Brian Baldinger along with us
here to talk about this one, and it may wind.

Speaker 9 (22:36):
Up being closer than you think it is going to be.

Speaker 11 (22:38):
States.

Speaker 9 (22:38):
Let's start with Jordan Love.

Speaker 8 (22:40):
How to matt LeFleur and Jordan Love and the rest
of this Green Bay offense continue to build on this
hot start.

Speaker 16 (22:49):
Continue to throw it down the field, which Jordan Love
Fellows is doing at a spectacular level through two games.
I mean, they've had back to back games with twenty
seven points. But he's been masterful back there. And I
remember being at training camp talking to offensive coaches and
them telling me he's getting that play call with that
cadence to the line of scrimmage, and he is dictating at.

Speaker 17 (23:10):
The line of scrimmage.

Speaker 16 (23:11):
He has become an artist back there now in his
third season as the starter.

Speaker 17 (23:15):
So this is exciting.

Speaker 16 (23:16):
But you know, you look at some of the numbers, guys,
number one in the NFL fourteen yards per pass completed,
number one in the NFL.

Speaker 17 (23:24):
This is a really cool one.

Speaker 16 (23:26):
Twelve point five air yards per attempt, That means his
average pass travels twelve point five yards downfield. Downfield throws
are ten or more yards. He's tied with Drake May
with sixteen completions on those downfield throws again ten or
more yards, and he's second behind Jared Goff with a
one forty four passer rating in terms of downfield throws.

(23:47):
He is unleashing it, he said after the game. I'm
going to be an aggressive quarterback. I've told you guys
that multiple times. I love taking shots downfield, Baldy. He
trusts his guys. Lafleur is calling it, and you know
what's really cool, Laflur can get so risky with his
play calls because of this defense, Baldy. It's a very
exciting group with Micah Parsons now in the fold and

(24:08):
by the way, they're going to go face the number
one total offense defense.

Speaker 17 (24:11):
Excuse me. So it's not going to be easy for
Jordan Love.

Speaker 16 (24:13):
And company, but they've got a defense, Baldy, to back
up everything they do.

Speaker 11 (24:19):
Yes, Stacy, you're spot on.

Speaker 18 (24:20):
I mean, Cleveland is number one in the NFL against
the run, but the Packers are number two.

Speaker 11 (24:25):
They're right there and always starts. I don't care.

Speaker 18 (24:28):
You know, if it's Jeff Hafley coaching the defense, it
doesn't matter. I mean, it all starts with being able
to stop the run. And this is two good running
teams in Washington and Detroit they face and you know,
and then when you do have to throw it, because
you do have to throw it, you know, Michah Parsons
is just a difference maker. I mean, there's no really
nobody else like him in the league, and so he

(24:49):
makes everybody around him better. But on the outside, you
saw the game ball go to Keishawn Nixon. They thought
maybe when they let jayrr Alexander go that maybe there
was going to be a hole this defense. But keish
On Nixon has stepped up. He came in this league
as a special teamer. He's now five passes defense. In
that game against Washington, it was a strong performance, but
then Xavier McKinney robs the middle of the field. They

(25:11):
want to force and funnel everything to the middle of
the field and then just make you pay with contact,
you know, with ball skills. Evan Williams with an interception
that first game against Detroit.

Speaker 11 (25:21):
They've seen two elite.

Speaker 18 (25:23):
Offenses in the first two weeks of the season in Detroit.
We saw what Detroit did last week and then Washington
they shut them both down. So Jeff Afflee, everybody that
gets to know him, like, you can see that guy
becoming a head coach. But he is masterful with what
he's designing. It's pretty simple, Stacy. But yet they want
to funnel everything to the middle of the field. And

(25:44):
then Edrin Cooper, Kwaight Walker, Xavier McKinney. They want to
pound you and make you pay, and they're having a
lot of success there, all right.

Speaker 8 (25:53):
So if Cleveland's going to make this a game here, Stace,
it's going to be with defense, and it's going to
be with Miles Garrett leading that the defense.

Speaker 9 (26:00):
We see what he is capable of doing, certainly week
in and week out. So what is the plan.

Speaker 8 (26:04):
For green Bay, Matt lafleor for how he's going to
handle Old ninety five?

Speaker 17 (26:11):
Well, it's an.

Speaker 16 (26:11):
Interesting question you raise, Mike, And Matt laflor has faced
Miles Garrett once prior in his career as the head
coach there of the Green Bay Packers, and interestingly, he
on twenty nine percent of his pass rush snaps. They
double teamed Miles Garrett. Now, if you go back historically
and look at it, that is his fifth highest in
a game since twenty eighteen in terms of the pressure

(26:34):
percentage against him.

Speaker 17 (26:36):
So you're going to see some double teams.

Speaker 16 (26:37):
You're going to combo blocks galore and figure out ways
to specifically handle him, just like they are going to
do with Michael Parsons on the other side. But it's
pretty cool that you know, this is the number one
total defense I mentioned in football under Jim Schwartz. He
is such a game strategist when it comes to the opposition,
changing what he does every week. They play a lot

(26:59):
of man defense, but as Baldy alluded to, they are
number one against the rush. I think they just held
the Baltimore Ravens to forty five rushyards on twenty one carries.
That is absolutely insane. By the way, they're also the
third best in terms of defending the pass already this year,
so through two games, this is a really stingy defense.
I just want to also point out Zach Tom and

(27:22):
Aaron Banks from that Packers offensive line. They didn't play
last week. They're both limited today and ultimately Matt Lafleur
said we're going to have to have our best game.
You said that today offensively because of how good this
defense is.

Speaker 17 (27:32):
So it'll be a fun matchup.

Speaker 16 (27:34):
Even if Joe Flacco can get something going, he's still
the starting quarterback there in Cleveland.

Speaker 8 (27:39):
Yep, this is not the game you want to be
down a couple of offensive linemen, particularly at the tackle position.
So good luck with that, Matt Lafleore if that winds
up happening. Stacy Dale, Brian Baldinger, thank you very much.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
This is how I felt watching my fantasy teams roll
in Week one. Just like Mike Vrabel, I had that
great lean. I felt like everything was going the right direction.
Then Week two rolled round one league, I scored thirty
five points and the other my leading scorer was a kicker.
So can't win them all words came out of my mouth.
It's more like when Vrabel's talking with the officials. Time

(28:13):
to Marcus my words with our fantasy expert, Marcus grant me,
Tom Peli, sero Ian Rapport, and Mike Garafolo. Let's talk
about so week three fantasy sleepers.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
Marcus, who do you got for a quarterback?

Speaker 19 (28:27):
I'm gonna go with Sam Donald this week now. Some
of this is about the fact that we're gonna be
short on quarterbacks for the foreseeable future, right, Guys like
Brock Purdy, Joe Burrow, JJ McCarthy, maybe Jaden Daniels, all
these guys dealing with injuries right now. So some of
it is about Donald just being available. But we saw
the Seahawks be a little bit more pass heavy in

(28:47):
Week two against the Steelers. Going against the Saints defense
this week that has given up five passing touchdowns, tied
for the second most. Three of those were to Mac
Jones last week with a kind of fairly meh, go
to mediocre pass right, not really getting after guys. Maybe
we could see Sam Donald kind of get into a
flow this week.

Speaker 8 (29:05):
Let's go to the running back position. We saw one
as we were going to break. I've got him on
the team, I am starting him. He better perform, in
large part because they've got QB problems in Minnesota.

Speaker 19 (29:15):
Marcus, Yeah, that's right. Jordan Mason looked like he was
on his way to kind of taking over that backfield,
and now with Aaron Jones on ir because of the
hamstring injury, it's it's pretty much the Jordan Mason show
there in Minnesota, throwing the fact that Carson Wentz is
making a started quarterback, a guy who has not seen
a whole lot of action of the last couple of seasons,

(29:35):
and they're going against the Bengals defense that has struggled
all year long, gave up big games to both Dylan
Sampson and Travis Etn. I think Jordan Mason is in
line for a huge week for the Minnesota Vikings. Then
there's Ramondre Stevenson, and I know a lot of fantasy
managers out there are still waiting for the Traveon Henderson breakout,
and maybe it's coming. But right now, the usage suggests

(29:55):
that Rabondre Stevenson is.

Speaker 7 (29:57):
The number one running back there in New England.

Speaker 19 (29:59):
Sixty five percent of the snaps, a quarter of the
total touches going against the Steelers run defense that has
given up some big plays, rank twenty eighth right now
against the run, four rushing touchdowns allowed. Plus we got
Rimandre catching the football. I think he's gonna do a
little bit of everything for New England.

Speaker 6 (30:15):
Both of these guys do catch football a little be
But let's focus on a sleeper who let's say majors
in catching the football. Why don't you give me a
receiving threat who's a sleeper for you?

Speaker 19 (30:26):
Marcus, Well, how about David and Joku? And I know
it sounds sort of weird because he was one of
those guys we were drafting in the middle part of
drafts that we thought was going to be a nice,
kind of value tight end, and then all of a sudden,
Week one, we were introduced to Harold fannin junior. We
saw a lot of fan in again last week, but
I think this week against the Packers, things may be
working in in Djoku's favor. One the Packers, for as

(30:48):
good as they've been defensively, tight ends have kind of
been a blind spot for them. Sam Laporta, Zach erse
each with double digit fantasy points games against this Green
Bay defense. Not to mention the fact that I expect
the Browns to be playing from behind.

Speaker 7 (31:02):
I expect a pass heavy.

Speaker 19 (31:03):
Game script for Cleveland in the second half, which means
we could.

Speaker 7 (31:06):
See in Djoku get quite a few targets this week.

Speaker 1 (31:10):
Marcus, I'm a big streaming defense guy. I've tried Arizona,
I've tried San Francisco. Not a lot of productivity. Yet,
who should I pick up Week three?

Speaker 19 (31:17):
I'm gonna tell you to go after the Atlanta Falcons,
which is maybe not a thing you would have anticipated
me saying before this season started.

Speaker 7 (31:24):
Some of this is just about the matchup.

Speaker 19 (31:26):
The Carolina Panthers offense has not been very good so
far this season, twenty ninth in scoring offense, they are
last in giveaways, and both the Jaguars and the Cardinals
scored eleven or more fantasy points against the Cardinals in
the first two weeks. So it's a good matchup for Atlanta,
throwing the fact that they seem to have found a
pass rush down there in Atlanta, currently fourth in quarterback

(31:46):
pressures and still available in about seventy percent of NFL
dot Com league. So if you are like Tom and
you like to stream defenses, go take a look, because
the dirty Birds might be there on the waiver wire
for you.

Speaker 1 (31:59):
I'm gonna hustle right now and go pick up the
Falcons in case anyone else in my league is watching
the show.

Speaker 2 (32:04):
Marcus, thank you very much.

Speaker 11 (32:05):
Judy.

Speaker 5 (32:09):
Sunday Night football Giants versus Chiefs, both teams looking for
their first win. I am not sure how many of
us would have predicted that these teams would have exactly
the same record already at this point in the year.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
But here we are.

Speaker 5 (32:24):
Let's hear from some key members of the Chiefs organization
about the source of their frustrations.

Speaker 20 (32:32):
We haven't won the game, so I understand, I get it,
but you know, we keep pushing and we'll keep pushing
and working forward and see what we can do going
down the road.

Speaker 21 (32:43):
Here, these are the people that we have in the
locker room. Like it's even though we've never been zero
and too, we've had stretches where we've lost big games
kind of consecutively, and guys have responded, you know, like
it's about the character of the guys in the locker
room more than it is to play on the football field.
And I think we have the guys that are can
continue to work. They're not going to let this kind
of push them down, and they're going to use that

(33:04):
have anything as motivation to be even better. And sometimes
when you're winning a lot, those little details get lost
and that's how you lose. But when you lose early
like this, you have to really just focus on those
little details and maximize those and then you try to
set the example on the practice field.

Speaker 5 (33:20):
There is reason for celebration in Kansas City though. Happy
thirtieth birthday, Patrick Mahomes. Maybe the last few weeks haven't
been so great, but the last few years sure have been.
Thirty years old already has three Super Bowls on his resume.
Looking pretty good for Patrick Mahomes. Happy birthday and many
many more to him. Now, let's bring in our Brian

(33:42):
Baldinger to discuss what he sees from the Chiefs. Baldy,
you just heard Mahomes and Andy talk about their frustrations
with the offense and what's going on there.

Speaker 17 (33:53):
What do you see?

Speaker 18 (33:55):
Well, the birthday boy is a sixteenth leading rusher in
the NFL with one hundred and twenty three rushing yards.
That's not good because there's two running backs, Pachecko and
Hunt are averaging three and a half yards of carry.
And what's happening right now is they're not getting explosive plays.
But what's happening teams are playing two high safeties.

Speaker 11 (34:11):
And you've got to run them out of it.

Speaker 18 (34:13):
Like for example, last week, you'll see the Eagles with
their safeties deep right here, all right. When you get
that look, you're man on man inside, like you've got
to make that. You've got to run him out of it.
You've got to make them drop the safety down. And
the Chiefs haven't been good enough at the running back
or at the offensive line position. And now the Eagles
blitz the run right here. That happens, but on the

(34:33):
left tackle spot, that's Jalen Moore right there. For some reason,
he leaves Zadarius Smith right here, and Pachecko goes down
for a one yard game. Here's that same look, all right,
two high shell right here, safeties are fifteen yards deep.

Speaker 11 (34:45):
All right, let's make it work. And you look at this.

Speaker 18 (34:48):
They got a numbers advantage up front, like you've got
to make that pay. And right now, the Chiefs aren't
good enough. Pachecko right there with you a two yard game.
That's not good enough. So what happens is if you
get single high here, Judy, you get a chance to
get one on one on the outside.

Speaker 11 (35:05):
Their deep play threat right.

Speaker 18 (35:06):
Now with the injuries at receiver is Taekwon Thornton, and
they've been thrown it to them deep this year, like
they missed him right here. All right, he's got to
step on the corner right there. They don't get it
to him. Here the Eagles breakdown in coverage, all right, date,
one guy's on the ground and here comes Taekwon Thornton
wide open, and you know they miss him.

Speaker 11 (35:25):
Like these are opportunities.

Speaker 18 (35:26):
They had opportunities like this, similar in the first game
against the Chargers in Brazil. And so if you can
get them out of that too high shell by running
the ball better, you're going to get a chance for
one on one on the outside with Thornton and some
other players, and maybe you could take advantage of it
and start adding some explosive plays to the offense, which
they desperately need. So there's struggles in Kansas City. I

(35:50):
don't think anybody's panicking, but there are real struggles and
it does show up on tape.

Speaker 1 (35:55):
Big news for the Commander is the teams plan to
return to the side of their former home at RFK
Stadium cleared its final hurdle today when the District of
Columbia Council approved the legislation. Commander's owner Josh Harris called
it a historic day for DC in this statement, saying, quote,
we are deeply grateful, grateful to the district and the
center of the DMV and look forward to officially bringing

(36:17):
the team back to its spiritual home in twenty thirty.
The Rams have had a rather spiritual experience so far.
They're winning games, they're throwing the ball all over the place.
Matthew Stafford already completed passes to ten different receivers, including
twenty eight to Pooka Nakua and Devonte Adams, who certainly
make QB one's job a little bit easier.

Speaker 22 (36:40):
Yeah, I mean, it's it's nice being me, you know,
it's nice being me in lining up and knowing that
we got two guys that really got more than two.
But those two guys have done a heck of a
job in the last couple of years. Obviously DeVante a
little bit, you know, a few more years than than Pooka,
but done a great job in the last couple of
years making big plays. And that's what's showing up to me.
These guys are when they're getting the opportunities make plays,
they're making great ones. You know, put an unbelievable run.

(37:03):
You know, I wouldn't even pass thrown to them, but
unbelievab run up on you know, short yardage play we
had to he scored it.

Speaker 11 (37:09):
From forty five.

Speaker 22 (37:10):
Devonte had a number of great catches and did a
great job, you know, getting loose for that touchdown late.
So I just I feel lucky. I know, uh, you know,
I'm not not a re quarterback in the league has
to drive back and throw it and hand it off
to the guys that we have, and uh so I
feel good about that.

Speaker 6 (37:27):
Rams had a ton of success early on. Not so
much for these guys right here. Caleb Williams and the
Chicago Bears have have just struggled. It has been rough.
It has been much rougher than anyone expected. The optimism
for Ben Johnson's hire has certainly wayne just based on
the performance early on from the Chicago Bears. What Johnson hopes,

(37:47):
as you explained today, is that practice habits translate to
the game.

Speaker 15 (37:54):
Things all over the tape on all three phases that
we're looking to clean up. And I thought as a
whole that that team they were, they played a little
bit harder than us, And that's a reflection of me
as a coach, that's a reflection of our coaching staff,
and it's a reflection of our players too. When you
play a good team like that on the road, that
you got to you gotta be all out and every

(38:17):
single snap, and that just was not the case so specifically,
it was. It was everybody other guys that he did
practice better too. I think our practice habits are are
yet to reflect the championship caliber team.

Speaker 11 (38:31):
That's a yes.

Speaker 8 (38:33):
Meanwhile, last year I was covering a Jets Patriots game.
The Jets one Aaron Rodgers was doing a postgame interview.
Drake May was standing nearby. I said, what's up, Drake,
how you doing? He said, I'm good. I'm just waiting
for the goat. That was Aaron Rodgers. People in Boston
freaked out. They're like, no, no, Tom Brady is the goat.
How dare you relax?

Speaker 9 (38:50):
It's just the thing. Kids say, it's a goat, as
could be multiple people.

Speaker 11 (38:54):
I get it.

Speaker 8 (38:54):
But the point is Drake May grew up an Aaron
Rodgers fan, and now he gets the fight while he
gets the face the Steelers defense, but the other quarterback
is going to be Rogers on Sunday.

Speaker 23 (39:03):
They kind of you get to the age of, you know,
starting to really love watching football, and I know they
won the Super Bowl when I fire, you know, just remember,
you know, watching my first Super Bowl. I know they
won it, so uh, you know with the Packers, So yeah,
just you know, it's very talented the other way, you know,
throwing the football, and you know, I think anytime, you know,
he's got some swagger tomb. I remember in eighth grade,
I was playing baseball and different sports and you know,

(39:28):
looked up and you know, grip had a hold of football.
So I looked up Aaron Rodgers grip and you know,
I've had the grip ever since.

Speaker 5 (39:36):
Speaking of Aaron Rodgers, he's been around the NFL for
an awfully long time. He's won a ton of games,
won a Super Bowl, a bunch of MVP Awards, and
he is also one of the league's deepest thinkers. Talking
about the state of the Steelers today, he had an
awfully interesting perspective on winning and losing.

Speaker 12 (39:53):
I don't like to get into binary, but uh, winning
that's a good response. But we can you get attached
to the binary system that our league has judged on
necessarily because it is a seventeen game season and the.

Speaker 11 (40:08):
Process has to be great.

Speaker 1 (40:10):
That's sometimes how I talk when we don't have the
best ratings day on this show. But guess what you
can help us with that.

Speaker 2 (40:15):
We are on.

Speaker 1 (40:16):
Five days week Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, seven pm Eastern right
here on NFL Network, Every show on NFL plus every
show on YouTube gets the Thursday show on the NFL
channel as well where everywhere. Hopefully you'll be everywhere with
us as well more Insiders after.

Speaker 5 (40:32):
This Welcome back to the Insiders, presenter by Progressive Insurance.
The Hispanic Football Hall of Fame was unveiled today. It
was created to honor Hispanic coaches, players, contributors to the
game at all levels of football. Our old friend Ron

(40:55):
Rivera and Anthony Munio Is the Hall of Famer are
founding board members, and I am very lucky to be
a member of the selection committee along with a number
of our esteemed colleagues in the media world. I cannot
wait for us to elect our first class Tom.

Speaker 1 (41:13):
Takes a lot to put together a show that is
this smooth, slick on a daily basis.

Speaker 2 (41:17):
Here we have a meeting every.

Speaker 1 (41:19):
Afternoon today our coordinator, producer Jeff Klutch. It'd be great
if everybody could turn on their cameras during the meeting. Mike,
you're you're working out some of the kinks in the show.

Speaker 2 (41:29):
I see.

Speaker 9 (41:30):
Yeah, listen, you asked for it, you get it.

Speaker 8 (41:32):
I had lot mute so you didn't have to hear
the sound of a Lush seven iron over and over.

Speaker 9 (41:38):
Okay, you didn't have to show that part. You got
an itch. You gotta get through it. You know, clubs
are good for more than one thing.

Speaker 8 (41:44):
You got to I'm really working on the elbow close
to the body. That was the big focus here. You
could see it right there. See, it's exactly what I'm
doing right there. I really feel like I found something.
I'm just going to talk long enough so Ian can't
say anything. That's basically what's going to happen. I'm running
a four minute offense. Thoughts on that sway your thoughts
and guarantee that.

Speaker 7 (42:03):
I got plenty of thoughts. But as usual, there's just
no time for it.

Speaker 15 (42:06):
I gotta go. But h
