Speaker 1 (00:08):
Thursday Night Football in the City of Stars, although a
lot of them for the forty nine ers are not
going to be playing in this one. Ken San Francisco,
find a way to keep this closer, be a true
Hollywood underdog story and win this game. Our Steve Weisch
is there. We're gonna talk plenty about it. Meanwhile, our
Judy Batista is in London. We've got people all over

(00:28):
the globe, folks. Judy is in London ahead of the
Vikings and the Browns. She will have a report and
an interview from as I must say contractually across the
pond and Michael left Florio. He is with us in studio.
He'll be talking about who you should start, who you
should sit. I have a question about that fellow there,
number eleven, whether I should start sit or trade him

(00:50):
or do something because I need some production.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Out of a J. Brown. I'm not getting it. I'm
gonna find out.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Later in the show what Florio thinks. Welcome inside with
the Insiders. He and Rapaport with me, Mike Arra Folo.
As we look ahead to Thursday Night Football to start
up Week five in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
We'll look ahead to that game as well.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
As everything to come this weekend in the NFL, it
starts with that game between the Niners and the Rams,
or what used to be the Niners, because look at
all the guys that are out tonight. Nick Bosa with
that torn acl Yeah, we knew about that.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
George Kittle, we knew about that.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
We thought coming in based on what John Lynchin said
a couple of days ago, that brock Perty, Juan Jennings,
and Ricky Piersol will be questionable. They were ruled out
on Wednesday. That's how shorthanded this forty nine Ers team.
Now they're gonna get to get They're gonna start to
get some of these bodies back. But as it pertains
the tonight's game against the Rams, they are extremely shorthanded,
but we are fully loaded. Our guy Steve Weis is

(01:42):
there on the scene at so Far Stadium, Natalie dressed
as always.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
Steve.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Let's get ready for tonight's game.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
You got those injuries, you got the Rams on the
other side with Pooka looking to set some receiving records.
We've got plenty of storylines in this game. Help us
get started worse.

Speaker 4 (02:00):
Two of the three three to one teams in the
NFC West, but they enter the game feeling a little
differently about themselves. The Rams have that exciting late game
victory over the Colts here and so far in Week four,
but as you mentioned the forty nine ers, this is
a matter of survival. Matt Jones is going to be
starting his third game at quarterback, but the bigger.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Issue is to whom he will be throwing.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
As you mentioned, Ricky Pearsall is out, Brandon Ayuka is out,
Juwan Jennings is.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Not a wide receiver.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
That leaves Kendrick Bourne coming in as the leading perimeter
receiver with just eight catches.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Marcus Valdez scantling sky Moore.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
These guys have one catch each DeMarcus Robinson, Oh Mike.
But let's not forget about running back Christian McCaffrey. He
is their second leading receiver thirty one catches for three
hundred and five yards, and in his four games as
a forty nine er against the Rams, he has ninety
eight touches for six hundred and fifty one yards.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
And five touchdowns.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
And that does include one that he grew here real
quickly back to that as well, and those two victories
that he started.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
And won he wasn't managing the game. He threw it
in average of forty times. So even though it looks
like the forty nine ers are coming.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
In here with a preseason roster mic, when these two
teams played each other, it is always close.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
I wouldn't expect anymore with the end result.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Flashes on that quarterback, Steve, weis expecting some drama and
they cued the dramatic music right as he was talking
about it. Steve, why' to be back with you later
in the show as we get set for that game tonight. Meanwhile,
the Ravens talk about banged up teams. The Baltimore Ravens
doesn't get any worse than not having your quarterback and
perennial MVP candidate and Lamar Jackson didn't practice again today,

(03:43):
second straight day with that hamstring that forced him to
leave that game against the Chiefs the other day. Ian
as we take a look here at these at this
injury list for the Baltimore Ravens, which by the way,
we didn't have enough room to put all the injuries
on there. That's how bad things are for the Ravens
at this point. Lamar Jackson, this has felt like less

(04:05):
than a fifty. Here you go, we ran out of room.
This has felt less than a fifty to fifty proposition
for Lamar Jackson seems to get lower as the days
go by and he's not practicing. He's got to be
on the field by Friday to have any sense of
a shot here.

Speaker 5 (04:19):
Right.

Speaker 6 (04:20):
Yeah, First of all, I thought we were going to
do one of those things where it's just like a
really small font. It's like the Browns quarterback jersey. We
just have it like all the way down because it's
so the Ravens have so many injuries, and of course
none more important than Lamar Jackson has not practiced Wednesday
or Thursday. You're right, I would imagine if he doesn't
practice tomorrow, not going to play in Sunday's game. And
the way their schedule works out, they got this week's

(04:42):
game obviously came. They have phonn way far behind. Got
to win this one. Then they got the Rams coming up,
and then a buy so conceivably Lamar Jackson could get
three weeks worth the rest on that hamstring while only
missing two games. But that's not what anybody wants. What
they want is for the MVP to play. Now, this
is weird one, Mike, because it didn't seem like there

(05:02):
was any one instance of injury. We didn't see Lamar
Jackson go to the tenth at all. The team was down,
he gets pulled, and everyone's like, what's happening, what's happening?
This real injury is not? It seems pretty real. It
seems like something that if Lamar Jackson was going to
play this week, we maybe would have seen him already.
But Kooper Rush is the backup quarterback. He has plenty
of experience, he has won plenty of games as a

(05:25):
backup quarterback. They are going to be fine. But of course,
with so many injuries on defense, are they going to
be fine?

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Mike, I don't know. We're gonna have to tune in
and find out on Sunday. It's definitely gonna be a
different looking offense. But frankly, that's been the case with
the Ravens at previous years because nobody is Lamar Jackson.
You can't just have a backup that mimics exactly what
he does.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
He've got some guys.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Along the way that are a little bit more mobile
than others, but certainly once you lose Lamar Jackson, that
changes the entire element of your offense. So let's see
what the Ravens are able to do in this game
against the Texans, and we'll see which of the Ravens,
as we showed you that list, are going to wind up.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
Playing in this game at all.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
As for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, another team that has
been extremely banged up, Baker Mayfield return to practice today
with knee and right biceps injuries.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
A great sign for.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, although I think we expected him
to play all along. The difference, though, is Bucky Irving
not practicing. The running back Todd Bowles has sort of
laid out a timeline saying he's got to be out
of that walking boot by Friday, off crutches and out
of that walking boot by Friday. So tomorrow is the
big day for Bucky Irving to see if he's got
a shot at playing in this game. Doesn't look good,

(06:37):
but Rashad White certainly one of the better one a
to two running backs that you could have in your
back buildion.

Speaker 6 (06:44):
Yeah, the Carolina Panthers themselves have a running back issue.
Chuba Hubbard has not been spotted at practice the past
two days. Wednesday Thursday, no practice, dealing with a calf injury.
Remember last week he had a calf injury as well.
He played now not spotted. Look, we'll see what happens
with him tomorrow. Obviously, anything can happen to player. Practiced
on Friday. Sometimes taken me good to go, but certainly

(07:06):
does not seem to bode well for the Carolina Panthers. Mike,
who have you know, needed as much offensive firepower as
they possibly could have, now face the prospect of not
having Hubbard for this Sunday's game.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
Pick up Rico Nadel if you haven't already, ladies and gentlemen,
Terry McLaurin. Meanwhile, the veteran wide receiver who has been
dealing with that quad hip growing injury. It's sort of
been moving a rabbit. We're calling it a quad injury.
I mean, hasn't been moving around. It's just been referred
to as different body parts. But mcclarin Yees status uncertain,
was spotted at practice, was doing some work on the side. Again,
they didn't put them on injury reserve, so an indication

(07:40):
they expected him back within that four week window. He
is working his way to get back because something he's
probably gonna have to play with the entire season. Ian,
you just deal with it as best you can.

Speaker 6 (07:49):
Meanwhile, for the Minnesota Vikings, they seem unlike it. Have
JJ McCarthy their starting quarterback for Sunday's game in London
against the Browns. They hold that he would practice at
some point this week he's on the trip, but he
has as of right now not practice yet. Maybe we'll
get out on the field tomorrow. Now for the Minnesota Vikings,
first of all, they are expected to start Carson Wentz

(08:11):
this week, no surprise there. Then they have a bye
next week, so theoretically Mike jj McCarthy misses this week
comes back after the bye, that is, assuming that he
gets better from his highnkle spring, which as of yet
has not happened. Welcome to London, English.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
The abot of fronting things.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
You never been that open.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
For a minute. The kick is going.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
Tomorrow, but think going London's calling with a highlight.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
You like to have your rookie quarterback, if he's going
to start for the first time, start.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
At home rather than on the road.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Neither for Dylan Gabriel, who will start in another country.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
He will get the ball on.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
Sunday against the Vikings that we are all looking forward
to seeing that he looked impressive in training camp and
into the preseason as well as he he can carry
it into the regular season into the country of England,
where Judy Batista is there to provide us some coverage
in this game.

Speaker 7 (09:29):
The Cleveland Browns arrived in London today and they are
bearing a new starting quarterback. Rookie Dylan Gabriel will get
the start on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. That means
the Vikings have had to adjust their preparation. Gabriel is
a more mobile quarterback than Joe Flacco is, but Vikings
linebacker Jonathan Gernard is not worried about that as much
as he is about the running game. He expects the

(09:51):
Browns to run the ball a lot more to try
to shorten the game and make it simpler for Gabriel.
He said he wouldn't blame a team for trying to
run against the Vikings given what they have put on tape.
The Vikings have struggled to stop the run so far
this season, and they do have some significant injuries on defense,
including Andrew Van Ginkel, who will not play in this game.

(10:13):
We will hear from Dylan Gabriel and the Browns tomorrow,
but for now, the Vikings are preparing for a new
quarterback in London.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Yeah, pats are ten and Quinnon Mitchell, two quarterbacks are
gonna be seeing on the same field on Sunday, Broncos
and Eagles. And you're seeing that these guys are being
charged with going up against the top receivers. Quinya on
Mitchell in the second year. I mean, this is a
guy who's gonna make a ton of money in the
coming years, like pats are ten already has, and maybe
even being consideration for a defensive Player of the Year

(10:46):
the way that pats are ten has Stacy. Nel's Brian
Baldinger here to talk about this matchup. Stacy, the Eagles
are four and zero, but if you listen to the
city of Philadelphia, they might be closer to all win
four that market.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
He hears it.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
They're losing their mind, Stace. Is it going to get
any easier or is it going to get any coffer
for them?

Speaker 2 (11:05):
In your mind?

Speaker 8 (11:07):
Well, it's going to get tougher because of the schedule,
Mike and Baldi, But you know, maybe people in the
building might think they shouldn't before and oh, they haven't
played their best football. We were talking about topics for
today's show. And as we say all of this, they
are still the class of the NFC people. They are
four and zero because they simply find ways to win
football games. Each one of those victories, by the way,

(11:28):
has been determined by one possession. And so when you
look at a guy like Jalen Hursts in this offense
that maybe hasn't played their best football and that defense
is still figuring things out this season, they know how
to win, and with winning comes personality, and one of
the things they have at their you know, luxury is
a head coach with really continuity with this organization and

(11:52):
leadership skills, and I think Nick Sirianni's we heard about
all the AJ Brown stuff this week in his comments
and maybe not having the type of performances he wanted
thus far. Nick does a really good job managing personalities
and that's really vital as he works alongside Howie Roseman,
and when you have that kind of leadership, all of
a sudden you are able to manage those personalities.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
So that's one.

Speaker 8 (12:13):
Part of it, But the other part of it is
Jalen Hurts. You know he's been hit a lot, you guys,
and here come the Denver Broncos, who have the highest
pressure rate in the National Football League defensively, and yet
he finds ways to use the tools around him to
win football games. It hasn't looked pretty, but he's getting
those victories. And they have emerging leaders Saquon Barkley, Jordan

(12:34):
my Latta, Jordan Davis.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
They have player led a player.

Speaker 8 (12:38):
Led locker room to a high degree, and I think
that's why you're seeing this team win games. Now, I'll
say all that fellas in you've got the NFC North ahead,
You've got Denver this weekend, and you've got the Giants
two games in three weeks. They know in that building.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
The football has to improve.

Speaker 8 (12:53):
Baldy and Mike and I assume they're in the lab
working things out this week as they get ready for Denver.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
The first of those Giants games will be a short week.
There's than a football next week. I will be there
at MetLife Stadium covering that NFC East matchup that has
been one sided of late Baldy, as I flipped this
to you with the Eagles offensive struggles, which they've played
well in Spurs, but overall their offensive struggles. I don't
want to see this Denver defense coming in as the
one of the last defenses that I want to see

(13:21):
on the way out of the Eagles navigate this Denver defense,
which you know, Sir Tan is going up against aj
Brown too, as you're trying to get him going.

Speaker 9 (13:30):
Eagles might have to block out the booze that might come,
like they did two weeks ago against the Rams.

Speaker 5 (13:35):
They're used to that if they're not playing well. But yo,
look Denver and Van Shose for what they have.

Speaker 9 (13:41):
They have largely the same returning defense from a year ago,
and their base defense is basically a five man front.

Speaker 5 (13:47):
It's a reduced front.

Speaker 9 (13:48):
Two defensive tackle Zach Allen, DJ Jones along with John
Frankly Myers, and then the two workhorses on the outside,
Jonathan Cooper and Nick Benito.

Speaker 5 (13:57):
They're excellent. They're excellent.

Speaker 9 (13:58):
They go into five man front to stop the run,
to slow down the run.

Speaker 5 (14:02):
But it's more than just that.

Speaker 9 (14:03):
They'll go five man front right here and they'll get
after the quarterback. It'll play a variety of coverages behind it.
Here against the Chargers, two weeks ago, they played a
man coverage on this side of the field, and you know,
Herbert gets the ball out.

Speaker 5 (14:15):
But four two yard game, they'll give up that two
yard game.

Speaker 9 (14:18):
But they'll also play that five man front.

Speaker 5 (14:20):
And they'll play a variety of zones.

Speaker 9 (14:22):
Like you think about the Eagles with aj Brown and
Devonte Smith, they could very easy do this rack it
up at the top basically play you know, in underneath
coverage with Sir Tan there and the safety over the
top bracket the receivers and make the quarterback hold the
ball and maybe go someplace else with it like Herbie
does right here out of bounds. But ultimately the takeoff

(14:43):
of Nick Benito along.

Speaker 5 (14:45):
With Jonathan Cooper is as fast as any in the league.
And right here Benito's already won.

Speaker 9 (14:49):
They lead the league in sacks this year, they led
the league in sacks a year ago. They'll play a
two deep man underneath right there prevent the big play.
So they've got everything to take including this right here.
I mean now they're going up against Lane Johnson Jordan Malana.
That's the game within the game against these two guys.

Speaker 5 (15:06):
They don't blitch a lot, but they forced a quarterback
to step up, and you.

Speaker 9 (15:11):
Know, Zach Allen is a very very in Jonathan Franklin
Myers and DJ Jones, they're very capable up front.

Speaker 5 (15:17):
So it's it's a great matchup.

Speaker 9 (15:19):
It's you know, for an analyst, this is a dream
this is a dream game right here.

Speaker 5 (15:23):
Can't wait to break this one down.

Speaker 9 (15:24):
But yeah, in South Philly Sunday afternoon, it's going to
be a real challenge for both sides.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
Lane Johnson practicing this week, he looks like he's gonna play.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
They needed to play the entire game though.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
I mean, he hasn't been able to play full games
here in recent weeks. He's got to be in there
because of what you just showed right there, Baldy, that
could be a big problem again for an Eagles offense
trying to find its footing. Stacy Dale's Brian Baldinger.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Hi, kidd, let me guess, let me kiss.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
No, maybe.

Speaker 10 (15:57):
Not.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
Stafford sets his feet, flicks this progression us.

Speaker 10 (16:02):
Go look at me, Go look at me, Tampa safety
double slice.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
I think it's like a stutter shoot him. They felt
like a mega shove.

Speaker 11 (16:10):
I was going for a check mate, but I'm like
you and that corner goes here in that secty goes.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
Here, I'll go there, and you just over.

Speaker 4 (16:17):
The shoulder, catch forty two two down the left sideline
with a faper trail behind him, touchdown.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
At a live.

Speaker 4 (16:27):
Eighty eight yards from QB one to number five.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Go ahead, score.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
Proud of you.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
Hey, that what keep riding?

Speaker 2 (16:35):
You know what I mean? I know you will.

Speaker 6 (16:37):
If Matthew sever gets in the Hall of Fame, it's
just gonna be his whole induction is just gonna be
wired because he is the man speaking of the man.
That guy right there, Mac Jones, he is styling getting
ready for tonight's game. I am not a predictor, but
you see that outfit. You see that swag, the riz
as the kids call it. Forty nine ers by thousand,

(16:58):
that's it. Forty nine ers by one thousand. There's no
other way to look at it. Maybe Steve Weiss, our
good friend who is right there in the stadium hanging
out for the game, has a different view. Steve, I
want to get your take on mac Jones's outfit, because, honestly,
if all the things you're gonna say, that's gonna be
the most important. Your shown, who obviously has swagged yourself.
After you weigh in on that, why don't you tell

(17:20):
me about Pooka Nakua and just how awesome he is?

Speaker 7 (17:24):
Well?

Speaker 4 (17:24):
First off, rop Star producer Clayton who took that with
his phone.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
I mean, he's slick.

Speaker 4 (17:28):
And here's Mac Jones coming in looking like a stylish joker,
like he's got something up his sleeve. He's might be
holding a wild card because his receivers don't match.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
Up to the Rams receivers. Look at this outfit right now,
he's killing it like nobody.

Speaker 4 (17:43):
Yeah, okay, two face, That's what I told in my
ear this is two face.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
I don't know if he's.

Speaker 4 (17:47):
Gonna be two faced tonight, but if he's got two faces,
maybe one of them could play wide receiver. And for
their defense, let's look what they got to deal with
the Rams. You've got, you know, Devonte Adams, you've got
Pooka Nakoul, You've got too.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
Two at well.

Speaker 4 (17:58):
But Nikoua is leading the NFL forty two catches for
five hundred and three yards.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
Whis crazy?

Speaker 4 (18:04):
Is this the second season he's gone over five hundred
in four games, which means he's the only player in
NFL history to do that now. It's head coach Sean
McVay said this week, it's the simple things he does.
He gets open and he catches the ball. The ball,
but then what he does after the catch. We know
Puko might be the toughest receiver to tackle on first
impact after the catch, but his quarterback Matthew Stafford said

(18:26):
the fact that they've been so familiar with one another
that they may actually call a play differently than they
have ever called it based on the look they're seeing.
But because of their familiarity, Stafford's gonna get him the
ball and so far Hookah he's gonna catch it. Steve,
I feel like Hookah has real broken scouting. I mean,
this is a guy who's a late round pick.

Speaker 6 (18:45):
Trying to understand why he's so good and how you
can find someone like him is bizarre because his skill set,
his skill set is production. Just I don't know if
it matches up and how they did this, but this
is one of the most productive receivers we have seen
the very time. The San Francisco forty nine ers would
like to be similarly productive. They would also like to

(19:07):
have the product down the field be something we recognize
who in the world is going to be playing for
the forty nine ers tonight, and how do they find
their identity with those guys?

Speaker 2 (19:19):
Yeah, really good question.

Speaker 5 (19:20):
I think it's a lot like Matt Jones suit.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
Right.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
It looks skylish from you know, in black on one side,
red on the other.

Speaker 4 (19:26):
But what exactly are they other than a three and
one football team.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
I spoke to the perennial Foot Bowl left tackle Trent
Williams about this.

Speaker 4 (19:33):
He's like, look, it's nice that we've won three or
four games, but because of the revolving door of players
coming in and out, because of the injuries, they know
who and what they want to be, but they have
no idea actually what type of.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
Team they are.

Speaker 5 (19:48):
He's hoping if they survive.

Speaker 4 (19:49):
Tonight against the Rams that was our forty them, it's
the direction of finding out their ideal identity.

Speaker 5 (19:56):
He is.

Speaker 6 (19:58):
That great stuff Steven as always listen. I know you're busy.
I know you got to go enjoy that concert, So
you do that. We can talk later about more of
your fashion thoughts. I got a couple of suits. I
got to run by you as well. But great stuff
as always enjoy the concert, but enjoyed the game as well,
we got a good one in London coming up this

(20:18):
Sunday morning, bright and early Vikings Browns nine to thirty am,
only on NFL Network and NFL Plus. Also, if you
want to get up a little bit earlier, and you should,
game day kickoff begins at seven am, and of all
the reasons to be there. I will be on the
show along with a lot of other my friends, including
our good friend Judy Batista, who caught up with a

(20:41):
potential Defensive Player of the Year candidate in Isaiah Rodgers.

Speaker 7 (20:46):
Isaiah, first of all, what have you been doing with
yourself with all of your time here?

Speaker 12 (20:50):
I really just been enjoying the actual scenery around here
that like London's kind of farest. So I haven't really
been out into the city, but I plan on doing
that Sunday whenever my life family comes in town. A Wednesday, No,
not Wednesday, Saturday.

Speaker 7 (21:01):
You've lost It's okay, we've all lost track of time
at this point. All right, let's talk about your season,
because you are on some kind of run to start
the season, right. You had the interception return for the touchdown,
the fumble return for the touchdown, you blocked a field
goal the other day when you were chasing dk Metcalf,
next Gen Stats tracked you at twenty three point thirty

(21:22):
two miles per hour. That's the fastest they've ever tracked
since twenty seventeen. Did you feel like you were going
that fast?

Speaker 12 (21:29):
I didn that at the time, but once I've seen
it on social media, you know, I kind of looked
past it because I didn't make the play, so it's
kind of relevant to me. But I think it's kind
of cool to have like a little stat like that.

Speaker 7 (21:39):
How do you explain, like what kind of fast starts
you've gotten off to you this year?

Speaker 12 (21:43):
It's not even me. I think it's all credit to
my d lines, getting to the quarterback, you know, to
force those type of plays to happen, and just trusting
the coaches and trusting the process throughout the weekend. Just
going into games with a lot of confidence and I
have to overthink and you know, just playing fast.

Speaker 7 (21:56):
I know this is sort of new, but Dylan Gabriel
is the starting quarterback now for the Cleveland Browns. I
know there's not a ton of film available on him,
but what have you seen and how do you have
to attack him? That's maybe a little bit differently than
Joe Flackham H Joe.

Speaker 12 (22:09):
You know, Joe's a lot a lot more experience and
things like that. But I think we're dealing on film.
You know, he has a zip on the wall. He
can get it out fast, and you know he's going
to go out there and you know, prove you know,
all the doubters wrong, and he's going to try to
prove all the believers correct. So I think his main
thing is just go out there and make plays, and
our goals to try to prevent that. So just go
out there and have fun.

Speaker 7 (22:26):
He's a little bit more mobile then Flacco is at
this point in his career. What kind of challenge does
that percent for a guy like you just.

Speaker 12 (22:33):
Just staying coverage, you know, run with my guys and
you know, play to the whistle. You know, never think
the play is over because he's going he's going to
stend place. I say, thanks, good Buck, thank you, appreciate it, thank.

Speaker 1 (22:43):
You, Jady, thank you guys.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
Ayah, five big games in week five.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
That's the theme here for the post from NFL Game
Day on X. You've got that London game, you got
TNF tonight, you got the matchup.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
I wasn't done.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
I was going through them all all right, time for
Marquee matchups.

Speaker 2 (23:00):
He's going to go through them all.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
We're going to start here with Mark Ross Buccaneers Seahawks,
the first of your Mark Key matchups.

Speaker 11 (23:06):
Buck Seahawks. All good, hey, three two, three and one teams.
The Seahawks d nasty third in the NFL in points
per game. They have talent at all levels. Mike McDonald
has those guys playing at a high level and keeping
Sam Darnold from not having to be superhero. Run the ball,
play behind the yard markers there. And then for the Bucks,

(23:27):
we know they've been coming back in the first three games.
Last week it bit them against the Eagles. Still had chances,
but really self destructed there with the turnovers. So this
could be a game where Seattle's defense really dominates again
unless Baker can pull off some magic. Those injuries piling
up for the Bucks. But let's see if the Seahawks
can continue that formula with that defense and go to

(23:49):
four and one.

Speaker 1 (23:50):
All right, we'll edit out that flub in post and
we'll go back now to the game I'm supposed to
start with. I'm sorry, we know we're just going to
go with what we've got Vikings Browns in London. The
game I was supposed to start.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
With all good Vikings Browns.

Speaker 11 (24:04):
We've talked about this all show because of Dylan Gabriel
getting his first start here, and for Dylan Gabriel just
lean on the Browns defense. That defense can keep you
in games against anybody, as they've shown all year.

Speaker 3 (24:16):
And I know we love Joe Flacco, but has really been.

Speaker 11 (24:18):
The turnovers that have gotten Joe Flacco, which have when
the Browns have lost, the games have got away. So
if Dylan Gabriel can really take care of the football,
he definitely is cerebral, of course not Joe Flacco cerebral
at this point. And then he does have that little
bit of playmaking that he can add to that element
there that they really have a chance. And the Vikings

(24:39):
offense has been struggling. Carson Wentz is a turnover away himself,
and that defense hasn't been up to their normal standards. Mike,
so this really could be a spot where Cleveland wins
this one, all right.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
Patriots at Bills Mike Vrabel hired to get the Patriots
back on the winning track, but also to I mean,
while you're doing that. Compete with Buffalo. Somebody compete with Buffalo,
the AFCs, Patriots, Bills.

Speaker 11 (25:02):
Right, the role reversal of when Mike Rabel was with
the Patriots sixteen to two against the Bills, and now
the Bills absolutely own everybody else. So Kenny brings some
of that magic. Will this be the signature game for
the New England Patriots and Drake May against Buffalo, who
may be the best team in the league because of
that guy right there, Josh Allen. But they do have

(25:22):
some flaws, particularly on the defensive side of the ball,
where they really cannot stop the run.

Speaker 3 (25:27):
Thirty first against the run.

Speaker 11 (25:29):
So this may be a Traveon Henderson breakout game for
the Patriots, while Drake May adds his playmaking should be
a super fun game. These are the types of the
games that Patriots have to step up and start competing
with the Bills to say yes, we can be in
the same class as you.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
So Sunday Night Football.

Speaker 11 (25:46):
No better way for the Patriots to say yes we
are for real at this point in the season.

Speaker 1 (25:50):
Mike Commanders Chargers. The return of Jayden Daniels to the
field for Washington.

Speaker 11 (25:56):
Yeah, that's what It's one hundred percent about Jayden Daniels
and not just returning, but how effective he will be.
How much of the Jaden Daniels magic will we see
because he is one of the most dynamic dual threat
quarterbacks in the league.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
Will we see less design runs?

Speaker 11 (26:13):
We know even on scramble plays, he gets out there
and takes a lot of hits, unnecessary hits. So will
he play a little bit more cautious going into this game?
That Washington defense really has been struggling, So let's see
if the Chargers can take advantage of that. Have a
bounce back game after that disappointing loss to the Giants
last week and with the injuries piling up with the Chargers,

(26:36):
they finally just get through a game healthy.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
There, Mike, The reason for sitting him was that he
could come back and not play cautious and they wouldn't
have to worry about him. So he got that full
clearance from the doctors this week. Let's see if it
translates to the field. Those are your mark, key match
I'm done. I got them all right, I got them
all on order except for that got it good. Beautiful
Marquee matchups for Week five in the NFL. And as
we get set for Week five in the NFL, Michael f.

(27:00):
Florio is along with your fantasy sits and starts, Woodie Marks,
Chase Brown. Didn't know that five weeks in we'll be
talking about these guys and potentially in spots starter sit
that we didn't expect. But that's how it goes. Michael
left Florio, are gonna straighten it all out. That's after
the break here on the insiders.

Speaker 9 (27:28):
That's sweet.

Speaker 4 (27:28):
They put it in his belly, double left sideline.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
Hoot this dog jump off, complete touchdown the go go mat,
don't want to wear let go hits up. Hints that
pushed down Christian Dicapria with room go.

Speaker 4 (27:47):
On to the double left sideline with a paper tram
behind a flow.

Speaker 1 (27:58):
It is time for Michael Florio to go inside your
starts and sits for Week five in the NFL, and look,
I can confirm reports that Michael f Florio, my assistant
general manager, and I were trying to trade Christian McCaffrey
for Pooka and the Copa this week and the trade
was turned down. We thought we had a shot at
that one. Didn't happen. With that said let's go starts

(28:19):
and sits for Week five in the NFL. Let's start
with your starts for tonight. There's any football this.

Speaker 10 (28:25):
Game, I think is pretty straightforward. The names you just
mentioned are absolutely must starts. After that gets to be
kind of a players you want to get away from.
But I do think you just keep starting Devonte Adams.
I know all the targets and catches and yards are
going Pookah's way, but when they get.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
In the red zone, Devonte Adams is their guy.

Speaker 10 (28:45):
He is eight or more targets and three of his
four games this year and a touchdown in three straight.
He's topped fourteen Fantasy points in each game that he
has scored a touchdown.

Speaker 2 (28:54):
And I'm not just saying that the red zone offenses
is ran through him.

Speaker 10 (28:58):
He literally leads then in red zone targets. So even
if tonight is a lower scoring game, he has a
good chance of scoring a touchdown because of the amount
of volume he gets when they get near the end zone.
I think the other start in this game is the
Rams defense. Look no Brock Purty, no Ricky Piersoll, no
Juwan Jennings, no George Kittle. The three of us might

(29:21):
have to suit up tonight for the forty nine ers
if they lose a couple of more people. Plus, the
Rams have generated sacks at the third highest rate in
the NFL, pressure at the.

Speaker 1 (29:30):
Fourth highest rate.

Speaker 10 (29:31):
And when these two teams get together, they don't always
tend to be the highest scoring games. They tend to
be more defensive battles. I had the Rams in play
when I thought it was going to be brock Purty.

Speaker 3 (29:41):
No offense to Mac Jones.

Speaker 10 (29:42):
I'm definitely starting them tonight against him with all of
his pass catchers out.

Speaker 6 (29:47):
Yeah, but did you see Mac Jones as suit? Does
that change your mind? No, we don't have time for that.
Don't get into it.

Speaker 3 (29:52):
It's fine.

Speaker 6 (29:53):
Nope, we already got fashion stuff from Steve Weis, considering
what your rank. No fashion players, All right, give me
no offense. Give me who we are sitting for tonight,
and I need to pay attention close and my team
continues to be absolutely terrible.

Speaker 10 (30:08):
I know last week he was running around the field
screaming that he is a dog, and he is a dog.

Speaker 1 (30:12):
But I think you could sit.

Speaker 10 (30:14):
Matthew Stafford this week in fantasy. I know last week
he was the QB two but since he has become
a Ram, he has averaged twelve fantasy points per game
against the forty nine ers, and he has one passing
touchdown or fewer in each of his last five regular
season matchups against the forty nine ers, and last season

(30:36):
in both games he threw for two hundred and twenty
one yards and then one hundred and sixty yards. He's
not going to run, So I always think Stafford is
more of a floor play than a ceiling one, but
especially this week, I think the floor is low enough
where you could get away, and I had brock Perdy.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
As I sit, he's not playing.

Speaker 10 (30:53):
I'm definitely sitting Mac Jones tonight unless you're in like
a super flex or a two quarterback league and you
need to plug him in there. But like I was
saying last earlier, with the Rams defense, they get to
the quarterback extremely well. And I'll say it again, these
two teams when they match up, they don't know. We
send to be high scoring games. And Party last season
in two of his three game career games against the

(31:15):
Rams two hundred and ten passing yards and no touchdowns.
So if Party struggled against them, even though he is rocking.

Speaker 2 (31:22):
The coolest suit two face. I don't know what's going
on there. I don't think I could pull that off.

Speaker 10 (31:26):
He could, but I don't think he should be in
your fantasy lineups tonight.

Speaker 1 (31:31):
Harley Quinn also being referenced. That's a good reference on
social media as well. What do you have worn that
suit if he wasn't starting the night or is that
a like I know I'm starting only to be starting
to wear that all right to the rest of the
NFL action Sunday and Monday in the NFL justin fields.

(31:52):
I know where you're going on this one starter. Sit
justin fields, Mike. This is specifically for you.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
Must I got to fields.

Speaker 1 (32:01):
You absolutely have it right now.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
The outsiders need to be starting him missing.

Speaker 5 (32:05):
Seeing there forty.

Speaker 10 (32:07):
Three yard touchdown run last week twenty seven fantasy points.
It is the second time in just three starts with
twenty seven or more fantasy points.

Speaker 1 (32:15):
Not many quarterbacks bring a ceiling that high.

Speaker 10 (32:18):
He's ran for at least forty yards in each game,
but I think this is an even higher ceiling game
for him. Every quarterback who has faced the Cowboys has
scored at least twenty four fantasy points, and the last
three are averaging twenty nine Fantasy points per game in
all of finished top five. So yeah, Justin Fields absolutely
has to be started in Mike's and everyone's lineup.

Speaker 6 (32:40):
How about this one. I had a chance to pick
up Woody Marks last week, picked up another player, did
not end up picking him up. He is a young
back end of the Texans like a lot, even though
they have Nick Chubb. Am I starting or sitting him?
If I had him, which you know I don't, you
might not have him, but.

Speaker 2 (32:56):
The outsiders do.

Speaker 10 (32:58):
And I think the outsiders are starting him this week,
as I think the viewers should be as well. He
had more snaps, carries, and targets to Nick Chubb last week.

Speaker 2 (33:08):
All of the red zone work went his way.

Speaker 10 (33:10):
And what I really love is he is a weapon
as a receiver out of the backfield, so he's not
gamescript dependent like some running backs are. And it's just
a good matchup this week. The Ravens are top four
in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, and receiving yards allowed two
running backs, and without Lamar on the other side, I
don't worry about this being as lopsided of a game

(33:33):
as it would be if he was out there. So
I think gamescript will be whether they're trailing, they'll throw
it to him, if they're close or whatever, they'll run
with him. So I think what he marks is a
good play and a good matchup this week, all.

Speaker 1 (33:44):
Right, So what he's in alongside McCaffrey, so real quick,
Jordan Mason or Travion Henderson for my flex, I.

Speaker 10 (33:49):
Would go Travon there.

Speaker 1 (33:52):
We'll talk about that. We'll talk about that, all right.
Chase Brown sticking at the running back position, startershit Chase Brown.

Speaker 10 (33:59):
I have a few teams where I'm playing Trevon Henderson
over Chase Brown this week. It is bad right now
for the Bengals, and I don't think it's on Chase Brown.
I think it is on this Bengals offensive line that
even if Joe Burrow was out there, they'd be struggling
right now. On average, he's getting hit nearly a full
yard behind the line of scrimmage. What is a running

(34:19):
back supposed to do when they are getting hit once
they are touching the ball? The Eagles are to a
tough matchup fifth fewest yards allowed to running backs. I
think if you're playing Chase Brown, I'm sorry the Lions
he gets this week. But I think if you're playing
Chase Brown, you are expecting catches when they're in catchup mode,
and that is not the way I want to live

(34:40):
my fantasy life if I don't have to.

Speaker 6 (34:42):
All right, So we're all waking up early on Sunday,
some of us earlier than others. Pregame show seven o'clock.
Game starts nine thirty. What about Jerry Judy, the new
quarterback for the Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 10 (34:54):
Games kickoff at six point thirty out here on the
West Coast, So you West Coasters be up early just
in case.

Speaker 1 (34:59):
There's a surprise scritch like last week. Jerry Judy, though,
go to bed early on Saturday.

Speaker 10 (35:03):
Have him in your bench because he has averaged just
seven point eight fantasy points per game this season, and
now with a new rookie quarterback, is he going to
be the go to target? A lot of the times
when we see a new quarterback, they often have chemistry
with someone that they have gotten.

Speaker 2 (35:19):
A lot of reps with.

Speaker 10 (35:20):
Plus the vikings, they've allowed the fewest yards to receivers
who line up out wide, which is where Jerry Judy
runs over eighty percent of his routes, and they just
allowed the fewest fantasy points too wide receivers. So with
it being such a tough matchup, I think it's okay
to get away from Jerry Judy right now.

Speaker 1 (35:37):
All right, look now the questions about our specific teams,
and for me it's AJ Brown. I don't have a
lot of great options at receiver right now. You know
that I could potentially trade him away. I'm gonna get
pennies on the dollar at this point though, But like,
put yourself in the mind of somebody who does have
some other good options at the receiver position. Could they
theoretically bench AJ Brown at this point? Or like the

(35:58):
string quartet on the deck of the Titanic, must you.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
Go down with the ship?

Speaker 10 (36:03):
I'm that right, Like I have AJ Brown on a
lot of teams, and I'm actually trying to trade and
buy low to get him on some more because I
think last week is getting a little blown out of purplay.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
It wasn't good at all for fantasy.

Speaker 10 (36:14):
I get that, but he had a forty percent target
share and a seventy three percent.

Speaker 2 (36:18):
Air yard share.

Speaker 10 (36:19):
Like the volume is going his way, and I just
think Hurts and AJ Brown are too talented. We've already
seen them put up monsters seasons before that. This just
feels like a good chance to try to buy low,
even with it being the Denver Broncos in the toughest matchup,
squeaky wheel game, right, like the first five ten targets
might go his way them a right.

Speaker 2 (36:37):
Hopefully they keep going well.

Speaker 6 (36:41):
Oh yes you can, Yeah you can. And this is
my guess is for A. J. Brown, this is probably
not the last all right. More importantly, I got a
tight end issue. Actually I got a lot of issues.
My team is terrible, but I got a tight end issue.
Darren Waller was balling last week. Grabbed him. Also have
Isaiah likely Lamar may not play. Do I go Likely
or Wower?

Speaker 2 (37:01):
I'm a Waller believer here. I'm going with Darren Waller.

Speaker 10 (37:04):
I know last week he ran limited routes and snaps.
I expect that to increase as he gets more acclimated.
But he's the clear go to guy in the red
and end zone for the Dolphins, and with Tyreek.

Speaker 1 (37:13):
Out there's targets up for grabs.

Speaker 10 (37:15):
I don't think enough people are talking like he was
playing snaps as a wide receiver as well as tight end,
so I know he might get hurt or something at
some point. That's a concern you have to have in fantasy.
But while he's out there and healthy, I think he's
going to be useful.

Speaker 1 (37:29):
Michael left Florio, don't go far, not because you're back
in the show, but because you and I have to
have a personnel meeting after this show. We need to
talk about that flex spot, amongst other things. Thank you
very much, as always for your insights. Starts and sits.
Read the full article right there, starts sit one word,
NFL dot Com backslash starts, sit.

Speaker 6 (37:48):
Hey Core getting striped out. That's the jungle. That is
where the Bengals hope to come home and get a win.
It's been two rough games. Joe Burrow is out, life
is hard. Jake Browning, who they love so much, has
not played very well as a gatting hit all the time.
It's just let's strike the whole thing out and get
the Bengals a win, although reality is I don't think

(38:09):
the Lions would like that very much. Stacy Dale's Brian
Balldinger get in here and let's discuss more in the
Bengals in a second. Dale's I want to start with you.
Jared Goff he has been balling. The team started rough
and has had no rough spots since. Where do you
view Jared Goff in the pantheon of our appreciation for

(38:33):
the kind of play that he's had.

Speaker 8 (38:35):
Well, he seems to just coast you guys as this
pretty good quarterback. But he has played elite for a
while now in Detroit. Listen, if Dak Prescott were four
and zero in Dallas, we wouldn't be talking about anything else.
I mean, the fact is they're not. But he's playing
at an MVP level Dak Prescott. But you could argue
that Jared Goff is on his way to doing that

(38:57):
this season as well. You mentioned the Week one game
in Green Bay.

Speaker 4 (39:00):
Ian.

Speaker 3 (39:01):
What's really interesting.

Speaker 8 (39:02):
About Goff is I actually I had the Lions the
week after that game, and I can't tell you the
number of conversations I had about how Jared Goff marched
into that building at Alan Park and he took this
thing over. They had massive communication issues at the line
of scrimmage. We know about the two new guards, the
new center. They've cleaned all that up. They haven't given

(39:24):
up a sack Ian and Baldi in I believe the
last three weeks his completion percentage. As you see the
numbers there on the lower third, seventy four percent completion
rating for him, nine passing touchdowns. These are all tops
in the league. One or two or second or whatever
it is. He leads the league in quarterback wins and
pass yards since twenty twenty four. Jared Goff is elite,

(39:47):
and he is the common denominator when you change your
play caller, because Johnny mo is a whole lot different
than the style wise of Ben Johnson was. Your common
denominator is your quarterback, and Jared Goff deserves a lot
of flowers as they ramp up here in the season continues.

Speaker 6 (40:05):
He really wondered what the transition would be like for
the Lions. They have so many new coaches, and it took.
It took one game. It took one game. Bengals, Baldy
are still transitioning away from Joe Burrow. Unfortunately for them,
Jake Browning and someone they like a lot. They have
not gone outside for a quarterback. Tell me this thing
is going to be okay for the Cincinnati Bengals offense.

Speaker 5 (40:29):
Well, I hope. So I'm going to be in the
jungle on Sunday.

Speaker 9 (40:31):
I don't want to see a blowout the way the
Bengals have been blown out by the Vikings and the
Broncos last two weeks. But they are going home, and
you know, and Mike Florio spoke on it, and Stacey
has spoke on it. You got to protect a quarterback.
I mean last week Jonathan Cooper and Nick Bernito that
they were on top of before like he could even
get to his back foot. You can't get the ball

(40:53):
to Jamar Chase and T Higg and jacka win games.
Like Stacy said, this Detroit offense can score points. They've
a good rhythm going right now. They're gonna have to
keep up with it, and so I think it starts
with protection. Jake Browning has been sacked six times and
hit fifteen and fifty six drop back passes on the road.
Tough places in Minnesota and that Dobe Stadium in Denver

(41:14):
in the Monday night, that's tough. I think they'll welcome
the trip back to the jungle. But let's face it,
they've got to feed. You know, both Jamar Chase and
T Higgins have a chance. And I think if there
is a you know, a weakness to this Detroit defense,
it is outside of the corner. You got to know
where ninety seven is. That's a guy's name is Aiden Hutchinson.
Nowhere he's at. Make sure that he's you know, nullified

(41:34):
to some degree, because you know he's gonna he's not
gonna stop working. So no where ninety seven is. Give
you a quarterback a little bit of time, Let those
two receivers go work, and maybe we can turn this
thing into a shootout. I think that would that would
bode well for the Bengals right now.

Speaker 8 (41:51):
We're talking about a Detroit offense that scores thirty four
per game right now, and receiver, I don't know what
you guys think, but I'm in ross. Saint Brown is
arguably the best recept in the NFL right now. He
leads the league with six receiving touchdowns. Johnny Mose said
today that this is the best he's ever been around
he played the position when he played football. In terms
of his preparation in the run game in the past game,

(42:12):
he sets the tone with Jared Goff and that offensive line,
I don't know how they're going to stop them at
the jungle Baldy.

Speaker 1 (42:19):
Seriously, well, I'm all for a shootout.

Speaker 5 (42:22):
Stacy, I'm all for a shootout. Jamar Chase is uncoverable
still Tom, Yeah, I love that.

Speaker 2 (42:29):
Cannot wait for this one.

Speaker 6 (42:30):
Guys, great stuff as always, Thank you so much. Maybe
you'll come back next week on The Insiders. Maybe you'll
watch The Insiders if you do a lot of Places
to Get It podcast. We got NFL plus. We're on
the network a lot. Come to all the places and
hang out with us on The Insiders.

Speaker 5 (42:49):
Not done yet, though, you Guyslet we have a special
guest today.

Speaker 2 (43:03):
Keep beating me.

Speaker 5 (43:04):
I don't know where is Kanty.

Speaker 13 (43:06):
I haven't seen him at all. There you go, keep
saying right here, come on, come on, here we go,
Here we go. Appreciate it, buddy, appreciate you. There we go,
far away, No, no know where you're going.

Speaker 2 (43:20):
There we go, There we go.

Speaker 5 (43:22):
That's why I tell the guys once I sits off. Yeah.

Speaker 9 (43:25):
So, no matter how big or small, if you lose
the bet, you're gonna you're gonna squeeze in there.

Speaker 3 (43:34):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (43:34):
There it is a bet between DeForest Buckner and Matt Kanti,
the direct the vice president of football Communications for the Cults.

Speaker 2 (43:42):
Very helpful and one of the nicest guys.

Speaker 3 (43:43):
In the league.

Speaker 1 (43:44):
But when a guy loses a bet and he gets
umilated like that, Ian, I'm here for it.

Speaker 6 (43:50):
Oh yeah, I'm here for it too. A couple of things.
First of all, DeForest Buckner just has that costume. He
just has it, so when he makes a bet and
