Speaker 1 (00:01):
It was a tough night for Bill's mafia, but at
least fans didn't wake up as sore as Josh Allen.
Unless they jump through a table, then all bets are off.
We will break down the Thursday night fallout for a
Texans defense that continues to dominate and a Bills team
that continues to seek answers. If the playoffs began today,
the Chiefs would be out, and now they got the
(00:23):
high flying Colts coming to Arrowhead. On Sunday, our Jeffrey
Chedia is in Kansas City with the latest on this
AFC showdown and why Daniel Jones landed on the injury report.
The Broncos are on a buy but no rest for
wide receiver Troy Franklin, who's going to join us on
the show tonight to talk about protecting that top spot
in the AFC West and why the Denver offense might
(00:47):
just be scratching the surface. Welcome inside with the Insiders
presented by Progressive Insurance alongside Mike Garafalo.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
I'm Tom Pelisero.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Week twelve is underway, which means sweater weather. We will
get into that Thursday night game, all the highlights, all
the analysis shortly here. But first, we got a ton
of quarterback news to get to, and that's just in
the AFC North. Let's start out in Cincinnati, where Bengals
quarterback Joe Burrow is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's
game against the Patriots after he was downgraded to a
(01:20):
limited participant in practice today. Burrow still had a schedule
in his recovery from a severe turf toe injury. Took
all the first team reps on Wednesday and Thursday, but
Joe Flacco, who's been battling a sore throwing shoulder, also
got reps on Friday. Bengals have up until four pm
Eastern on Saturday to activate Burrow if he is going
(01:40):
to play.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
More on that momentarily.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers also listed as questionable for Sunday
as he continues to push to play against the Bears.
The final decision will be made in consultation with doctors
who held Rogers out of the second half last week
when he was trying to go in even after it's
severed a small fracture in his left wrist. If Rogers
can't go, or if he is simply not cleared, it
(02:05):
would be Mason Rudolph getting that start in Chicago. Ravens
quarterback Lamar Jackson, meanwhile off the injury, reported he is
good to go Sunday against the Jets. Jackson did not
practice Wednesday because of an ankle injury, one week after
missing a Wednesday practice because of a knee injury, not
that long after missing several games with a hamstring injury.
Jackson said this week it is all a part of football,
(02:28):
and he's gonna have to play football at one hundred
percent or not. He's gonna be out there on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Mike Meanwhile Jackson Dart the Giants that were hopeful that
he would be cleared through the concussion protocol by this time,
he has not been, so they announced before today's practice
it's gonna be Jameis Winston. Jamis Winston's gonna be the
guy for the second straight week as Dart, who's been
limited but non contact. That's one of the steps in
the protocol. The last one is cleared for full contact.
(02:53):
He did not get to that point out of time,
so Winston will be the guy for the Giants against
the Lions. The hope is again that Dart will be
back for the team's next game. But again, as we
keep saying, these are concussions, they're hard to predict, as
it was in this case this week. Meanwhile, Bryce Young
a full participant in Thursday's practice with his ankle injury
(03:17):
status for Monday night uncertain, But if you're a full participant,
certainly that is a good sign for him and for
the possibility of him playing against the forty nine Ers
in a game that is pivotal for the playoff race
in the NFC for both of these teams and Shador Sanders.
He will get his first career start with a full
week of practice reps under his belt against the Raiders
(03:40):
this coming Sunday. Dylan Gabriel has returned to practice like
Jackson Dart that's part of the protocol, but not fully cleared.
Kevin Stefanski has said when Gabriel gets fully cleared, he
will be the guy. But in the meantime, it is
Chador Sanders against the Raiders in a game that we
all will be watching extremely closely.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Some key injuries and other games on Sunday, some of
them including those top two, impacting my fantasy team, specifically,
Josh Jacobs officially listed as questionable has been able to
practice the past couple of days dealing with that knee contusion.
Drake London, Brian Thomas Junior, Bucky Irving all out, Chris
Godwin's got a shot listed as questionable. Meanwhile, Isaiah Pacheco
(04:20):
out once again because of that knee, but Andy Reid
said he is getting closer for this week a lot
more Kareem Hunt, but the top story continues to be
the status of Joe Burrow, who certainly looked good.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
To his teammate T Higgins.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
He needed to take as much tom as he need.
But I mean he looks good, so I mean if
he's ready, then I'm ready.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
You know what I mean at the end of the day.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
But yeah, man, I think, you know, take as much
Thomas he need to give back one hundred percent, in
which I think he is now.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
So is it you said you think he's one hundred percent?
Speaker 4 (04:53):
I think he is.
Speaker 5 (04:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
He's moving around like like it was week one.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
So he was.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
One of those things we all know. And no matter
how much y'all tell him to be patient, Joe's gonna back.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
He's gonna do what he's going to do. Well, he ready,
he gonna come back.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Obviously, every game is huge for the Bengals at this point, Mike,
as they try to claw their way back into the
playoff Chase, I can't help but think though, sure week
coming up after this, a Thursday night game against Baltimore,
the team that ac cord all our advanced stats is
favored to win the AFC North. They play them twice
in a three week span. Every game again is important.
(05:24):
That game might be a little bit more important, maybe
buying them a little bit more time for Joe Burrow
to ramp up be ready to roll on Thanksgiving.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Zach Taylor alluded to that you mentioned the Ravens. Wasn't
there a Thursday game with Lamar Jackson when he didn't
play the weekend before that was the whole injury report fiasco.
You start to think about, well, you put a guy
out there and then he's got to go back out
just a couple of days later, especially a guy like
Joe Burrow coming off a surgery. The magnitude of this one,
I feel like there was a lot of momentum early
in the week, and what Zach Taylor said to the
(05:53):
media today was almost like, let's take our time with
this one. Let's not rush this decision. We're gonna make
or take as much time as possible. Now, if he's
not activated by tomorrow, by four o'clock, we'll know that
that's the case that he is not going to be
the starter for Sunday and it'll be Joe Flacco. If
he is activated, then the guessing game will continue for
another twenty four hours or so, or less than twenty
(06:14):
four hours, I should say so as I sit here
right now, Zach Taylor's comments give me gave me a
little bit of pause as I was looking at this
earlier in the week, saying, well, he's taking the snaps
from the starting center. He's practicing fully, like this train
is on the tracks. Now, I'm like, well, wait a minute.
Just hearing Zach Taylor what he had to say today,
we'll see.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Oh and here's the other thing to remember as well,
which is teams on those short weeks Sunday to Thursday,
they maybe have one real practice where you get a
small number of reps here. So if Joe Burrow full
participate Wednesday and Thursday this week plus whatever that is
next Tuesday, that would be like one full practice week
for him to get some of that rhythm and timing
and temple back with his wide receivers. We should have
(06:54):
answers in like twenty one hours or so from right now.
We got answers already on our Week twelve began between
the Bills and the Texans. Josh Allen coming off his
second career game with three pass touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns.
Spoiler alert, this one did not play out that way.
Early on second quarter, looking for Elijah Moore, that one
is tipped picked up by Kaylin Bullock. It's a forty
(07:17):
four yard touchdown return. But hold on, you see that
two handed shoved to the back of I think that
was Dawson Knox in there. That's not going to count.
They ended up with a field goal into the second quarter.
Now Texans trailing sixteen thirteen. This is a huge play
in the game. It felt like this is where it
flipped Davis Mills to the rookie Jayden Higgins an eight
yard touchdown. Texans take a twenty to sixteen lead. Fast
(07:39):
forward to the fourth quarter, now Bills down by seven.
James Cook trying to go off the right side and
get stuffed. Sheldon Rankins, who's been doing this for like
twenty five years Sheldon Rankins ageless, a big man in
the middle, Dimico Ryans fired up, Josh Allen frustrated. Later
on in the fourth quarter. Now this time it is
Josh Allen on second and ten from the Bills forty seven,
(08:03):
trying to scramble out of trouble. But you got a
guy named Danil Hunter that he is still an absolute
physical freak. It's hard to get away from that man.
Alan sacked for the seventh time right there, very next play,
fifty eight seconds left in the game.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
This is it.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
Alan swarmed. This was the story of the night. They
couldn't protect him. He kept going backwards, couldn't get out
of trouble. This time it's will Anderson Mario Edwards having
a party at the quarterback. Very next play, fifty one
seconds left in the game, Bills on fourth and twenty seven.
But somehow it's the hook and lateral or hooking ladder,
whatever you want to call it. We can debate that
(08:37):
another day. Khalil Shakir taking it from josh Palmer. The
Bills are then striking distance. Fourth plays later, though, twenty
four seconds to go, fourth down, Once again, Alan going
deep for Joshua Palmer, but Kayln Buck the man on
the spot again. Texans hang on to win twenty three
to nineteen. One of the leaders that defense spoke with
(08:57):
our Steve Watch.
Speaker 5 (09:00):
Incredible game for the defense tonight, three takeaways, eight sacks.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
What about that performance?
Speaker 5 (09:05):
Man? First, I just gotta give all glory to God.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
Man, that's just.
Speaker 5 (09:07):
Everybody doing Kingdom work man performing for his glory, giving
him all the praise and under man. But this team,
we had a short week in the preparation. The intensity
was there all week.
Speaker 6 (09:15):
Man.
Speaker 5 (09:16):
We was loved in and that's what couple.
Speaker 4 (09:17):
Marriedy football looked like.
Speaker 5 (09:18):
Offen's doing that thing defense doing that thing special things. Man,
we just gelling this one. Talk about complimentary football, but
you guys only allow of one offensive touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
Made it very tough for Josh Allen.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
What was working?
Speaker 5 (09:30):
Man?
Speaker 4 (09:30):
I think it's just everybody executed, everybody being on the
same pace.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
Man.
Speaker 5 (09:33):
And I love this group because we're relentless, We're persistent.
We persevere through anything, any turnover, any first down. They
get this defense and this team just keeps going. And
that's what I love about this team.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
Will Anderson an unreal pass rusher, even better interview friend
of the insiders. Time now for good coverage presented by
Progressive Insurance. You guessed it, Texan's pretty good coverage and
everything else. On defense, they tied the single game franchise
record with eight sacks on Thursday Night. Defensive coordinator Matt Unit,
it's been unbelievable of late. They've allowed fewer than twenty
(10:03):
points in eight games so farther seedon eight out of
their eleven games. That is not surprisingly the most in
the nflis and welcome in our friend Cameron Wolf to
the conversation cam. This was certainly like they all are
for Houston that's been climbing out of this hole, an
extremely important one. But it felt like the magnitude of
that also showcased the identity of this Texans team has developed.
(10:27):
Even with Davis Mills a backup quarterback make another start,
that defense just sets the tone over and over.
Speaker 7 (10:33):
Yeah, Tom, the biggest takeaway from this game is not
only do the Texans have the best defense in the league, now,
they have a historically great defense that can make them
a true AFC contender. And I think early on in
the season zero to three start, we forgot about the Texans.
We saw it last night. How this team is built.
Will Anderson junior, Danil Hunter, these cornerbacks and Derek Stingley junior,
(10:53):
Kaylen Bullock had a big night. That defensive front is special.
Those coverage guys are special. When you look around the
e AFC, there's no team that is taking away and
so why not the Houston Texans. I remember my first
year in the league, I covered with the Denver Broncos
twenty fifteen team, a team led by a defense an
inconsistent offense. This gives me a lot of vibes in
(11:14):
comparison to them. They play a lot of zone coverage,
they rush for and I have never seen a team
annihilate the Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen since he's been
in the league like they did last night. Eight sacks,
three turnovers. And look you look at that AFC South.
I know the Colts are wide ahead in that division.
They still have to play the Colts twice the Texans do.
They're going to get back in this AFC South race
(11:36):
and they're going to be a hard out for anybody
in January. And on the other side, this is certainly
a concern for the Bills because what I said Josh
Allen looked completely destroyed. They are not able to get
over open with their receivers and there's no help coming.
I know, Mike, you're going to talk about Keon Coleman,
but the receiver question is big and large, and we've
seen what a team when they take away the receivers
(11:58):
can do to the Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
Yea, the Keon Coleman Bills have on this team. Now
go ahead, Mike, go for it.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
Yeah. Well, I mean Cam tied me up so perfectly.
I figured, I just, you know, take the rock I
want and just run right through the world. Yeah. The
key On Coleman situation is disappointing because Josh Allen went
to bat for this guy in the draft process and said,
this is the kind of guy that we need. He
was I remember he's watching all the film of all
the receivers and said, I like this guy here, a
big body, and what he can bring is not bringing
(12:26):
anything if he's inactive for the last two games, which
he has been, and you know there's reports about him
potentially missing team meetings and just not doing what he
needs to do on the field and off the field.
And now what I do find funny and I would
advise folks to not go this route. Is everything he
said before. He was this goofy, playful character, and say,
well he's not serious about football. That you can be that.
(12:49):
How many guys in this league have a personality. We'll
show it to you and still be committed to what
they're doing on the field. That's the part for him
that he has to commit to, and that's got to happen.
It's a little mini by here. After the Thursday game,
you get a nice reset. You were sad for two games. Cam.
I saw your tweet about it last night. I said, hey,
it was short week, so it was hard to kind
of bring them back. Like Tom alluded to, you don't
(13:10):
have these full practices during the week. Well, now's the
time to dig in, Keon Coleman and realize what you
need to do to be successful at this level and
to be in the lineup again. It's a talented Bill's roster.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
It feels like they have not suited up the same
five receivers in consecutive games the entire season. Last week
was Mikol Hartman, who they just signed off the streets Elevator.
He goes on IR. They got Gabe Davis coming off
of an injury on the movie parts with Keon Coleman
and oh yeah. The most reliable receiver on this team
is their tight end Dalton Kin Kaine, who's been out
with a hamstring. Still the raigning NFL MVP in Josh Allen.
(13:42):
Let's see if they can gather a little bit of
momentum as this season moves forward. Cam more from you
in just a little bit. The Wolf for ball Street Guy.
I knew I was gonna do that eventually riding once again.
Hey we got Black Friday Football. It's back on Prime
Video with a big time quarterback matchup on a special day,
Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears taking on Jalen Hurts
and the Philadelphia Eagles. It's the Bears and Eagles next Friday,
(14:05):
three pm Eastern, only on Prime Video New Today. Colts
quarterback Daniel Jones, who popped up on the injury report
Thursday with what the team called a calf injury, was
altered to say fibula injury. Bottom line, he's off the report,
took all the first team reps today, no injury designation.
He'll start a huge game on Sunday against the Chiefs,
(14:26):
who will not have the running back Isaiah pa Checko
he's out once again with a knee, might not have
wide receiver Xavier Worthy either. He officially is listed as questionable,
still dealing with that ankle injury, the ankle that he
first rolled in practice a couple of weeks ago. The
Chiefs had a lot of moving parts in that receiver
corps Worthy, even when he's not getting the football, still
(14:47):
a difference maker for that team. Chief streak of AFC
West titles is in jeopardy, even their streak of playoff
appearances maybe in jeopardy. If the playoffs began right now,
they'd be out. They're a game back of the Jaguars,
among others, who are six and four. The Chiefs are
five and five, and now up come the Indianapolis Colts.
(15:09):
What a role reversal. It's the chief scraping to get
into the playoffs. Will the Colts are in contention for
the number one seed. Let's welcome in our Jeffrey Jedean
to the conversation with me Tom Pelisero here on the
Insiders presented by Progressive Insurance. Jeffrey, this is a team
in the Chiefs that we just got to go into
every season, assuming they're going to win the division, they're
(15:31):
going to have a home playoff game, they're probably going
to have the buy and we'll see you in the
AFC Championship game. Figure out where it goes from there.
That's not what's playing out. You're in Kansas City. Just
take me inside everything surrounding the Chiefs team that's really
in an unfamiliar position.
Speaker 8 (15:46):
What's definitely unprecedented territory, Tom and the team, the city,
everybody's trying to figure out what's going on here. And
Patrick Mahomes talked about the significance of this game this
week to saying that you have to approach this Coast
game as if it's like a big divisional playoff game,
mariny kind of playoff game, because it's exactly.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
What it is.
Speaker 8 (16:03):
You just broke it down how it looks for them
in the playoff situation, and they know that every team
that's in front of them in that wildcard situation has
beaten them, and so all these high bakers are going
to come into effect. But they understand that they've been
in these situations before as far as understanding urgency and
having their backs against the wall and having to play hard,
and Travis Kemsey said, the good thing about this team
(16:23):
right now is that the chemistry is still there. They're
still fighting, They're still trying to figure out ways to
get this done. But make no mistake about it, this
game against the coach will be the biggest regular season
game the Chiefs have played in the Patrick Mahomes Andy
Ridi era.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
We know all good that Chiefs defense Iste Spagnolo challenges
every opponent, but that Colts offense is rolling as well
as anybody. How do the Chiefs go about slowing down
Jonathan Taylor, Daniel Jones and that offense.
Speaker 8 (16:47):
Well, Speken Nolah knows it's going to be a huge
challenge for this team, and they've seen some good backs
this year from Saquon Barkley to Derrick Henry to obviously
James Cook and had.
Speaker 4 (16:56):
A pretty good success.
Speaker 8 (16:57):
This is a team that ranks ninth in the NFL
in rush defense, But Spikenoel said, this is a different
beast in Jonathan Taylor, probably the best guy they're going
to see all year because of what you're going to
see right here, that speed, what he gets to that
second level, that's what concerns spanoela the most his ability
to break away and make these huge runs, and he said,
this defense plays really good run defense when they are
(17:17):
on point, pay attention to the details, doing the little things,
when they take chances. When they get out of position,
that's when the bad things happen. So the focus here
for the Chiefs is to make sure they're on point
and make it sure they're where they need to be
when Jonathan Taylor has the football.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
The Broncos are on the buy this week after beating
the Chiefs. I just can imagine their fans sitting back
looking at this game and going, what want they eate
and two Colts to win? Don't want the five and
five Chiefs. I'll tell you. I want the Chiefs to lose.
I don't want them anywhere near it. I don't want
some scenario or Denver's the two seed, the Chiefs are
the seven, and they go back into Denver for revenge. Jeffrey,
(17:52):
thank you very much. We'll talk to you again soon, Mike.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
Thank you Tom. This week, NFL players are wearing custom
cleats through hashtag Mike Cousmike the spotlight that causes closest
to their hearts. It was at NFL dot Com slash
might cause my cleats to learn their stories, lots of them,
bid on their cleats, lots of them, and support the
charities making a difference in communities, lots of them. I
was still reading. Sorry, hi, Omar, didn't need to be
(18:15):
so rude. I like to look a guest right in
the eye. Thank you for joining us here on the program.
A couple of big games here. I talked like, who
thought this game a couple of weeks ago was going
to be a huge game for NFC playoff positioning? And
here we are, Panthers at the Niners Monday night A fifteen.
Are you covering this game? You're covering the right one.
Speaker 9 (18:32):
I will be in Santa Clair on Monday night, Mike,
and I like to look at you, hey, guys as well, so.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
You're plenty ready to talk about this game, go Omar.
Speaker 9 (18:38):
Well, the forty nine ers feel like they're in a
really good spot, Mike, and this is a unique position
for them, it seems over this Kyle Shanahan, John Lynch Era.
If you remember in twenty nineteen twenty twenty three, when
they made those Super Bowl runs, they started off the
seasons eight and oh and five and oh those years
were in the number one playoff positioning most of the year.
Then in the other couple of years that they played
the NFC championship games, they were three and four and
(19:01):
three and five, So to be seven and four now
in the thick of the playoff Rice full back Kyle
Uschek telling me earlier this week, it's kind of a
different position to be in the hunt, and they're looking
this as a two game season with the Panthers on
Monday and then the Browns next week. They're hoping to
get into that buy at nine to four and then
really looking to make a playoff push after getting a
(19:22):
little healthier. They did get healthier, obviously with Brock Purdy
at the quarterback position. I ask check what was different
about this year, because they've had several seasons where they've
been banged up and they become lost seasons, and he said,
their overall team depth, and then of course the play
of Mac Jones. Jones coming in not only getting them wins,
but allowing Kyle Shanahan to have the trust in Mac
(19:43):
Jones to develop the offense, to grow the offense, for
it to evolve like it normally would in a season,
and now Brock Purtty comes in put his stamp on
the offense with his style, and obviously Brock Pretty came
back and played the way Brock Pretty is capable of.
Last week in Arizona from the Panthers per spe obviously,
they're six and five, very much in the thick of
the NFC playoff race. Bryce Young coming off throwing a
(20:06):
franchise record four hundred and forty eight yards. I was
talking to forty nine Ers corner Diamdor Lenore, who's coming
off a great game himself two interceptions against the Cardinals
last week. He knows that they are in for a
treat against Bryce Young. He said that when he was
in high school, Bryce Young was an eighth grader and
was the quarterback of his seven on seven teams. So
(20:26):
when looking at the Panthers and that offense Teteroa McMillan
coming off a career day last Sunday as well, they
know they'll have their hands full against a forty nine
Ers defense. That really, Mike, when you look at the
numbers have struggled obviously since Fred Warner went down nick Bosa.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
They lost earlier in the year.
Speaker 9 (20:45):
Leonore telling me that they just have to focus on
winning one week at a time and continuing to instill
confidence in those young players that the forty nine ers
are relying upon.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
Now, yeah, if Nick Bosa is healthy, they're not thirty
second in the league in sacks. So you look at
that and you go, if you're Robert Sala, you got
to do the best. They got a lot of young
guys that they were relying upon, but they were hopeful
that they could ease their way in. But with all
the injuries, it's like, hey, young guys, you're optism. Time
to go out here. Exactly, another big game in California,
This right across the parking lot there from you at
(21:15):
Sofi Stadium, Buccaneers Rams Sunday night. Baker Mayfield back to Sofi,
the place where he had an unbelievable comeback victory. He
had arrived at the Rams facility like ten hours before
the game Rams, a couple of days whatever it wound
up being quick study leads into a comeback victory. Now
the entrenched franchise quarterback of the Buccaneers. Great story. However,
(21:36):
the Rams are going to want to shout him down
on Sunday.
Speaker 9 (21:38):
Yeah, that's one of those games. In the Sean McVay area.
That goes down in history, part of the Rams lore.
You just mentioned him coming in on forty eight hours
notice and able to win the game against the Raiders.
Similarly in primetime like this one's going to be on
Sunday night at SOFI. Both Sean McVeigh talking about Matthew
Stafford and Baker may Field, saying that they both have
(22:01):
this unique quality to instill a belief in his teammates,
the way that they authentically lead and the way that
they compete. Chris Shula, defensive coordinator for the Rams, talking
about Mayfield. What he's been impressing upon his defense to
defend Baker Mayfield this week is that every play is
never over, just as the game is never over. They'll
(22:21):
be ready to battle for all fourth quarters. And Jared
verse saying that Baker Mayfield one of those quarterbacks that
he's always wanted to play, going back to his days
at Oklahoma verse A when he was in high school
he saw Baker Mayfield light up Kansas and since then
it was like, that's a guy I want to play with.
Obviously known for a little trash talking, so it should
be a spirited matchup on Sunday night here at so Far.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Yeah, I talked about the Panthers thrusting themselves into the
NFC playoff picture. They're right on the tails of the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are in the thick of their schedule.
Got to find a win somewhere. It gets a little
easier down the stretch, but you'd like to be able
to pick up some here and build some distance sched
go for it.
Speaker 9 (23:00):
Yeah, Panthers played the NFC West Powers and the Seahawks,
Niners and Rams, also the Buccaneers twice, so if they
get into the playoffs, will have everned it, Mike.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
When omar'sm we're overflowing at the seams with information. Shadar
Sanders coming up next, our guy Cameron Wolf, the Wolf
of Ball Street, talking toador thank you, Omar.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
Big week for Schador. Sanders set to get his first
NFL start Sunday against the Raiders, which also means his
first NFL practices running that first team offense. Time Now
to bring in the Wolf of Ball Street himself, our
guy Cameron Wolf, who's always got the goods on what
(23:38):
is happening around the league. And Cam we made it
all the way to the third block of this show
without an extended Schador chat. So I gotta take a
wild guess you'd like to begin right there in Cleve, Yes, Tom.
Speaker 7 (23:48):
Let's start the Wolf of ball Street in Cleveland, where
Shador Sanders views this as the perfect timing opportunity for
him struggles last week. He's watched the film and realized
I was double clutching too much, not certain with the
timing of my offense. And they spend a lot of
time this week shuduring the receivers working after practice, I'm told,
trying to get that timing up. He also met with
(24:10):
Kevin Stefanski. They're going to put in a game plan
centric around Shador, going to let him move the pocket
a little bit more, use that playmaking ability to his
best extent. I also talked to his quarterback coach, Darryl Kobert,
who told me they have been working on off days
all season on his arm slot, his arm shape, his
first and second reasons checkdowns, a lot of the things
the Browns want him to work on to be able
(24:31):
to get the operation quickly and also not drift with
that footwork in the pocket. That's something Andrew Berry Browns
GM made clear to him, and it'll be really interesting
to see how he takes advantage of this timing and
opportunity versus the Raiders. Now let's go to Cincinnati, where
Joe Burrow had an initial goal to play Thanksgiving Day
next week. Now it got pushed up potentially a week earlier,
(24:55):
playing this Sunday as an option. But they're battling right
now how much to protect Joe Burrow for himself. Whether
he comes back Sunday or Thursday, he will not be
one hundred percent, but the season is running out there
three and seven and there may not be a season
for him to save if he doesn't come back soon.
I talked to a Bengals person who said he looked
really good in practice, although the mobility isn't as much
(25:16):
as you would want given the injury. He's just hopeful
they are not rushing him back too soon. And that's
why this decision is still up in the air. You
heard Zach Taylor say a decision could potentially be made
Saturday by four pm.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
When he does play out there in the.
Speaker 7 (25:30):
Field, expect mostly shotgun and not much movement within the pocket.
And finally, let's go to what is my favorite matchup
of the weekend. The Cowboys receiver Ceedee Lamb and George
Pickens versus the Eagles cornerbacks Quenyon Minchell and Cooper dejan
and look queiy On. Minchell's elevation to a true elite
number one receive a cornerback was in display. He shut
(25:50):
down Amar Ross Saint Brown last week twelve targets, two catches.
I talked to his dB coach, Christian Parker. He's talked
about how they've worked on the elevation. They put a
lot on his plate, Mitchell, and he has responded, He's
asked for these battles. He's gonna see Lamb and Pickens
on Sunday, and they saw him handle Pickens well week one.
They think that they can handle him in one on
(26:11):
one situations and these moments are what they live for.
The Eagles are three and a half games up on
the Cowboys in NFC East. They hope to potentially bury
them in a division what they win on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
A lot of fun stuff coming up on Sunday. Great
insight right there from our guy cam. We will talk
to you again soon.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
Hello. Time to go inside and Fantasy Live with our
guy had to break. I'm sorry. I was just reviewing
a trade offer in my league. Guys offering me Bijon,
Jake Ferguson and Joe Burrow for McCaffrey and trade McBride.
It's actually got to be thinking about it. We'll see,
uh figure that I'm gonna say no. I'm gonna say
no too. But this dude usually offers ridiculous stuff. This
one's actually reasonable. And anyway, onto what you are here
(26:50):
to discuss with regard to fantasy football, the injury impact.
We will start with T Higgins injury impact. The injury
is Jamar Chase out. Now there's a Joe Burrow injury
factor here at play as well. Take it all, put
it all together, send it.
Speaker 4 (27:06):
Back to me.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
What do you got?
Speaker 10 (27:07):
You know, I'm going to say that, regardless of which
Joe is going to end up being quarterback this weekend,
T Higgins is going to be the number one most
targeted receiver, not only in this offense, but probably most offense.
Is one of the things that Joe Flacco has done
really well. And I joked about this when he first
joined the Cincinnati Bengals. I'm like, listen, the only numbers
you need to know are one in five and that's it.
(27:29):
And I know that Andrea Yoshibas likes to get into
the mix. Mikekseki, Mike return, that's great. I'm very happy
for them. No, throw the ball to T Higgins almost exclusively.
They've got a pretty good matchup against the New England Patriots.
They've been tough against the run this season, but you
can go out there and throw for some yards, and
in a game where anytime the Bengals are playing, their
(27:51):
defense is so generous to opposing teams that it forces
the Bengals quarterbacks to have to throw the football, which
is why we love T Higgins this week.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
Right, by the way, I rejected that trade already off
the board, so don't even good think about it.
Speaker 10 (28:03):
By the way, can I say one thing, Mike, Yeah,
this is the this is the last day to make
trades on NFL dot Com. So if you want to
make a trade, even a ridiculous like was just offered
to our own Mike Garrifolo, today is the day. Otherwise
it's over, it's done. Can't do it no more again.
Speaker 2 (28:21):
Remind me next year to say, because this dude makes
offers everything. He's that guy in our league. I'm going
to send you some of them. They are beauties. Michael
Wilson with Marvin Harrison Junior out with that appendix.
Speaker 10 (28:31):
Yeah, I really like the production that we've seen out
of Michael Wilson over the last number of games. He's
slowly but surely been increasing his targets, something that's been
exasperated ever since Marvin Harrison Junior went down with the appendicitis.
And this week they got a really nice matchup against
the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
Now, if you look at what.
Speaker 10 (28:48):
Jacksonville was able to do last week against the LA Chargers,
it kind of skews the numbers a little bit. However,
when you look at what the Jags have given up
over the last couple of weeks, you see there the
totals on the board are correct. They've allowed over twenty
five Fantasy points per game to receivers over the last
the last four weeks. But still an opportunity because they're
(29:10):
going to have to go out there and throw the
football in this one. We do like we do like
the Arizona Cardinal's office. We love Trey McBride, which is
why you should never trade him. That's why we hold
on to him.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
I forgot how good he's been the last couple of weeks.
I was like, what does he nuts give me? Jake
Ferguson for him get out of here. Much like our
first one, we've got a quarterback and a same guy
on in that same position, but on the offense factor.
Here you've got Tyler Aljeeer with not b John Robinson,
who's the trade was rejected, Kirk Cousins and Drake London.
(29:42):
Kirk Cousins in, Drake London out, I'll get it right.
Speaker 10 (29:45):
No, we've actually seen Tyler Algier carve out a nice
little role for himself because the Atlanta Falcons love to
go to him when.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
They're near the goal line.
Speaker 10 (29:53):
But I do believe that over this over the next
couple of weeks, as long as Kirk Cousins is going
to be the quarterback for the Falcons, which we anticipate
with the injury of Michael Pennocks Junior, there's going to
be more opportunity for Tyler Al's yeer, especially with Drake
London out.
Speaker 4 (30:07):
Now.
Speaker 10 (30:07):
Obviously Darnell Moody and Kyle Pitts could see an uptick
in production. My conjecture is that they're going to find
ways to get the ball into the hands of Tyler
Al's year, we saw him catching the ball out of
the backfield. Could probably get some opportunities to run it
as well. So he goes from a guy who was
once a flex option to where I think that Tyler
(30:27):
Aljier is now a solid RB too.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
Yeah, he's also setting himself up for a nice payday
as a free agent of this offseason with a career
high and rushing touchdowns. Though he's helping himself while he's
helping your fantasy team. Here's an interesting one. Emmanuel Wilson.
You got Josh Jacobs is questionable, but he's done some
work in practice this week. I sort of had a dilemma.
I said, what he marks on Thursday or wait to
see if Wilson's going to be a guy on Sunday.
(30:50):
I went with Woody. I still could bring Wilson in.
What do you advise in this spot?
Speaker 10 (30:54):
Well, I mean, if Emmanuel Wilson ends up being the
starting running back for the Green Bay Packers, I think
it's a pretty obvious choice to get him into the
because the Minnesota Vikings have struggled against the run this season,
I know, or actually they they Yeah, they've struggled against
running backs the season. They're very blitz happy. They're going
to try to get after Jordan Love.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
However, I do.
Speaker 10 (31:14):
Think that you can run the ball with Emmanuel Wilson.
He's been very effective. And it's one of those things too,
like I hope that you have been planning for this.
It's kind of like that song by the Waitresses Christmas
Rapping where she finally realizes on Christmas Eve that she
forgot cranberry sauce too and has to trudge out into
the snow.
Speaker 2 (31:31):
Don't be that person be ready to go.
Speaker 10 (31:34):
If you had Josh Jacobs and did not have Emmanuel
Wilson ready to go at your disposal, shame on you
because you're probably not going to run into that guy
you've been chasing out here.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
Yeah, I wouldn't miss this one this year. That song's
right around the corner, as is the Christmas wrapping season.
Adam Rank God, love you, my friend, Appreciate you always.
We don't need invitation. Let's go, come on, Nip, why
not be let there throw a challenge.
Speaker 4 (32:02):
This is my second year.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
We're gonna have to go to school a touchdown. It
is what it is, bo, trust me, I know what
I want here a playfack Nick rolls through is right,
throws about of the hands up.
Speaker 7 (32:13):
Right, god right.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
Mike Garifolo, Bucky Brooks here joined by special guest Troy Franklin,
wide receiver for the Denver Broncos. Second year wide receiver
for the Broncos. And the jump from year one to
year two, I know what happens like that rookie season
sometimes is a blur. My man in year two is
starting to unlock some of that downfield potential, some of
that wide receiving potential. What's been the biggest key for
(32:38):
you as you've already gone twenty eight catches last year,
already up to forty six this year and double the
yardage already.
Speaker 11 (32:44):
Was def Yeah, Honestly, I think it really starts in
the offseason, you know for me, and I think I
had a really good offseason after my rookie year, got
Johns to Atlanta and worked with my guy Drew Lieberman
from Sideline Hustle, and you know, we put a lot
of work in and then you know, when it got
to the point where we were we were at training camp,
(33:04):
you know, I just wanted to, you know, make sure
all that stuff was translating. And I was just showing
the coaches I was, you know, reliable and doing everything
I could, you know, to be out there on the field.
So I think it starts there, and you know, it's
translating for sure.
Speaker 6 (33:18):
You know, I think about their translation in terms of
like the work that you did in the off season
making sure it work. You talked about the coaches, but
really it's the QB one that kind of drives everything
when it comes to being able to get the ball.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
Talk about your chemistry and connection with both.
Speaker 11 (33:30):
Nicks, man, Yeah, you know everybody knows you play with
each other at Oregon. You know, so started there. But
you know, we got a great connection. You know a
lot of times, you know, we are talking about a
lot of things, you know, making sure we're on the
same page, And I think it starts there, you know,
and just meeting knowing him and him knowing me, and
you know, we just got that receiver quarterback connection, you know.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
Oh yeah, man, And you guys came in together and
you guys are are growing together. What have you seen
I talked about you from year one, year two? What
have you seen from him as well, and how have
you grown together as a pairent man.
Speaker 11 (34:04):
I think his poison as a QB one, you know,
just having to deal with everything, you know, all the critics,
you know, all the trash talk, and you know, just
everything on his play.
Speaker 4 (34:13):
You know, I think he handles handled it really well.
Speaker 11 (34:15):
And you know his leadership also, you know, he's making
sure he's really vocal, you know, making sure everybody knows
what they're doing, making sure we're all comfortable out there,
and you know he's talking to us on the sidelines
during the games, you know, just making sure we're in it,
you know, just making sure we're ready to go. So
I think Bo's doing a great job and he's typinitely
taking that year or two jump and he's doing what
(34:38):
he needs to do for.
Speaker 4 (34:38):
Us, you know.
Speaker 6 (34:39):
Sure, I know it is always interesting playing for a
head coach who also serves as the offensive play caller.
And my dad played for Mike Holger and that he
was very particular about how you wanted the offense run.
When I look at Sean Payton, he looks like he
can get a little feisty, a little ornery. What is
it like playing with someone who is really on the
details and doesn't mind being very vocal if you're not
(35:00):
on exactly.
Speaker 11 (35:01):
Man, I think you gotta see it on the sidelines,
you know, when when things aren't going so great, you know.
Speaker 4 (35:05):
But it's very fun playing Shawn's offense for sure.
Speaker 5 (35:08):
You know.
Speaker 11 (35:08):
I'm very detailed, and I think that's something that you know,
obviously I never been a part of you know, organ
I was more of a we were just in spread
and things like that. But you know, getting under center,
you know, motioning to get an identification, and you know,
just all these different things he has and planned and
you know, just having that blueprint and him calling it
out and me working, you know, so just seeing that
(35:29):
stuff is great and you know, I'm just glad to
be a.
Speaker 4 (35:32):
Part of it.
Speaker 2 (35:32):
Give me a state of this team as you head
into the bye week here, because sometimes buys are good.
You need that rest. Sometimes it's like this momentum rolling
that you don't want to upset that at this point.
But also it's nice and late in the season. Teams
sometimes get it early and I'm like, I was like,
when you get this buy that comes in right now,
is this a good thing for the team, and what
(35:52):
are you guys telling each other, Oh.
Speaker 4 (35:54):
Yeah, no, we love the lay by for sure.
Speaker 11 (35:56):
You know, everybody gets to get their bodies back, you know,
get a couple guys back, you know, hopefully, and then yeah, man,
we're just we're in good spirits.
Speaker 4 (36:03):
Man.
Speaker 11 (36:04):
You know, I've got to keep it rolling, keep stacking weeks,
and just make sure we're doing the things we need
to be doing literally, you know, so we're feeling good.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
You know, think about feeling good.
Speaker 6 (36:14):
I know that defense, the Broncos defense is always feeling good.
They are balling out of control. What is it like
facing them every day? I know it's more so you
go against those guys in training camp, But what is
it like going against that defense? Because they look fast
and physical upfront, they get great cover guys in the
back end, very challenging to face that defense.
Speaker 4 (36:31):
It's great.
Speaker 11 (36:32):
It's great going against those guys, man, you know, best
defense in the league, you know. So when we go
out there, we know like we're really not We're really
not scared of anything, you know.
Speaker 4 (36:42):
So that's just the whole thing with it.
Speaker 11 (36:45):
You know, me and Pat Brian were talking about it
during the other during the game this past game. Man,
we love standing up watching those guys. Man, it's a
show out there for real, and we just love them
for sure.
Speaker 4 (36:58):
So they're great.
Speaker 2 (36:58):
Try and expend you, by the way, a little bit
of a little bit of gaming, a little bit of rest.
I mean, how will you spend this entire weekend?
Speaker 4 (37:05):
Yeah, yeah, I'm in front of my game right now.
I'm not gonna lie, you know.
Speaker 11 (37:08):
So I was just I was just playing some Call
of Duty, you know, I was playing some NC double
a earlier, you know.
Speaker 4 (37:14):
But yeah, you know, just getting my body back.
Speaker 11 (37:17):
Definitely spending some time, you know, off my feet, and yeah,
that's pretty much it.
Speaker 4 (37:21):
You know, I don't really do too much, you.
Speaker 11 (37:23):
Know, I played the game a little bit, might go
out find some good little food out here in Denver.
Speaker 4 (37:27):
But other than that, you know, yeah, pretty much just chilling.
Speaker 6 (37:30):
Okay, well, just chilling. I know you're playing the ANC
double A and I'm sure you probably played with the Ducks.
I got to ask you this because I see so
many different uniform combinations for the Ducks. What is the
favorite combination that you see when your square runs out
in Austin Stadium?
Speaker 11 (37:42):
Okay, for me, when I was there, when we were
the breast cancer jerseys. I thought those were pretty much,
you know, like the top the top jerseys that were
out at the.
Speaker 4 (37:52):
Time, and you know, gonna be out for a while.
Speaker 11 (37:54):
But most recently, I think those guys when they put
out those, those guys put off them all blacks.
Speaker 8 (38:02):
You know.
Speaker 11 (38:02):
I'm a fan of all black you know, all black accessories,
you know, and you know, just all that good stuff,
you know, So I like that all black combo.
Speaker 4 (38:11):
You know.
Speaker 11 (38:11):
Obviously whenever they support and do the breast cancer things.
When they did the yellow and all the little rainbow colors,
the Grateful deads, those were pretty nice.
Speaker 4 (38:19):
You know, they just keep them rolling every year. Man,
So you just never know. Man, still does.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
I see arguing Grateful Dead uniforms? I gotta see here.
I ont even remember those. Oh yeah, they were pretty
they were pretty sweet. Yeah, yeah, combinations, It's crazy. That's awesome.
Troy's a big fashion guy and he's a big football guy,
so we always appreciate his insight on uniforms. Listen, you
were in a loaded draft class when it came to
wide receivers. Bucky knows this. He steadied the draft clabs
(38:47):
and we talked about like where it's starting to settle
now and you're starting to see that. You're talking about
a fourth round value for the Denver Broncos. All that
bill's gonna come due and you get them for every
penny that you're worth. Truy, we appreciate you joining us.
Here are the inside to continue. Good luck to you
and the Broncos.
Speaker 4 (39:02):
Just at appreciated.
Speaker 2 (39:03):
Get back to that game now, Troy, that gaming call
of duty, whatever you're playing, Eagle is gonna wear the
Kelly Greens in Dallas this weekend up against the team
that wears white at home. You can do that. Quite
the statement, Quite the rivalry. We'll talk about it next
to the insiders.

Plus right now. I'm sure you can track down some
photos of these beauties. The Kelly Green throwback uniforms ones
that the Eagles have not worn in Dallas since nineteen
ninety five until today. And if you were thinking about
(40:05):
how long ago nineteen ninety five is, it's thirty years
in chronological terms, So ASO a time where none of
these things existed, Mike, anything we're missing from that list.
Speaker 2 (40:15):
Yeah, I'll tell you it didn't exist. And Eagle's Lombardi Trophy.
And the reason I know that is because back then
I was not an objective reporter, and I was rooting
for the Eagles and they would go into Dallas on
the regular and get smoked. And if I'm recalling this correctly,
it was actually January of nineteen ninety six. It was
the playoff game where Rodney Peak got hurt and Randall
came in and they lost thirty to eleven, a week
(40:37):
after crushing the Lions at home, getting my hopes up,
and then crushing those hopes by getting destroyed in the
Kelly Green uniforms. I'm looking at the highlights now. Yes,
Randall came in that game. It was not pretty horrible
weather in Philly too, so it was a double women.
Speaker 1 (40:50):
Not that that's stuck with you and been something that
scarred you for life, I don't know the fact, do
you remember every single detail of that that epic loss
right there? One of the best throwbacks, no way in
the league. We're gonna throw it back to next week, Tuesday.
We're on the NFL networks either.
Speaker 4 (41:06):
M h m hmmmmmm.
