Speaker 1 (00:10):
How about them Cowboys, or, perhaps more accurately, how about
that Cowboys offense. Tack is dealing like an MVP candidate,
but is that enough to convince Dallas to deal for
help on defense at the trade deadline. Jane Slater will
join us tonight to break down the state.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Of the stars.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Some stars shown brightley elsewhere last week, including wide receivers
both rising and returning to action. Our guy Cameron Wolf, Yes,
the Wolf of Bull Street, will be here.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
Tonight with insight on Jackson Smith.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
And Jigba Rare, Shee Rice other breakout players around the league.
If you have JSN on your fantasy team, well you're
one of many people facing a potential buy mgeddon this Sunday,
Denver Fear. Adam Rank is here tonight with some last
minute options that could help you just get by, kind
of like why every Friday we have Adam Rank Welcome
(01:05):
Inside with the Insiders presented by Progressive Insurance alongside Heed
Rappaport and Mike Garafalo. I am Tom Pelissero. Week eight
off and running. Justin Herbert certainly was last night in
the Chargers blowout win over the Vikings. He was making
like Lamar Jackson, but well, we see the real Lamar
Jackson on the field this weekend. Lamar back on the
(01:27):
practice field all week. Officially listed as questionable for Sunday's
game against the Bears. Full Pardiciman in practice today for
the first time he suffered a hamstring injury twenty six
days ago. All signs pointing toward the two time NFL
MVP being in the lineup against the Bears, though John Harbaugh,
as he usually does, was not willing to be quite
(01:48):
that direct.
Speaker 4 (01:50):
Well questions, Yeah, you have any terrible don't you hear
about everybody?
Speaker 5 (01:58):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:59):
Oh, that's the one.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Okay, appreciate appreciate you honesty. Uh, I I know this.
He practiced today, Uh, full practice today, So that was good.
Speaker 6 (02:10):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
And we'll see where we're at going forward.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Will it be his decision.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
We'll see where it's at going forward. Are you more
interested in the decision? Always? It's never The doctors are
involved in every part.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
So I guess it.
Speaker 5 (02:23):
Are you kind of more interested in what he could
be on Sunday as the post of what he showed
you guys this week?
Speaker 4 (02:28):
I think we're going to talk about it as we
go and figure out what we got to do to
try to win the game. I mean, that's really what
we're going to try to do. You know, what's our
best opportunity to win the football game on Sunday? Where
does everybody stand, including number eight, Lamar and anybody else.
And and that's just how it goes, and you do
your best, and and really you could, I'm sure when
(02:49):
we do talk about it at length, you know, but
it's not really a public conversation, and we're going to
try to put our best team out there and play
our best.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
If you want to read into bodyguage facial expressions, I
think it's fair to say ian we might not see
as jovial of a John Harbaugh at the podium joking
around with the media if his ENDMVP quarterback was not
going to play on Sunday in this big opportunity. They're
one in five after this game against the Bears. They
got five straight games against teams with losing records. It
seems like the path forward is there if you know
(03:21):
Number eight's out there.
Speaker 7 (03:23):
Yeah, And first of all, you know, you talk to
people around the league, talk to other gms and head coaches,
and they believe firmly that at the end, the Ravens
are going to be in it to have that happen.
To have that be the case, they need to win
a second game. They've won one. They need to win
two and after that three and then four and then
many many more to get back to probably where they
should be. If they're gonna do all that, Lamar Jackson
(03:44):
has to be out on the field.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
That is one thing we've learned.
Speaker 7 (03:47):
We've seen Cooper Rush, we saw Snoop Puntley today get
promoted to the fifty three men roster, would be the
number two. All of that is fine. Lamar Jackson has
to play. My read on the situation. Nobody wants to
say too much. He wants to get in front of it.
Nobody wants to say, yeah, he's playing.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
He was a full.
Speaker 7 (04:02):
Participant, because you just don't ever know Mike, who's now
writing down everything. I say, yes, are you doing the
math on how many wins it takes? It's gonna take
a lot more. I'm where Tom is right now. It
does seem like Lamar Jackson is preparing to start on Sunday.
They just want to get through the next day or
show to make sure that the MVP is back four.
Speaker 8 (04:25):
Five, six, seven, eight. Do I stop at eight or
do I keep going? Have you got to get to nine?
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Is nine? Where you gotta be? You gotta help me
on this man.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
I was told there would be nine helps on nine
helps and the Ravens.
Speaker 8 (04:42):
Yeah, nobody is saying for sure he is going to
play down there in Baltimore. We have conversations down there
with people, but it was a full practice on Friday,
and it seems like, unless there's some kind of setback,
he is moving in the right direction on this one.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
The questionable thing is, uh, yeah, sure he's questionable. Of
course he is.
Speaker 8 (04:59):
And let's let's keep the Bears guessing why not. But
I think, look, Lamar coming back is gonna help everything.
It's gonna help morale, it's gonna help the offense. I mean,
I know they're talking about that, like you can't compare
Cooper Rush and the offense under him to this offense
with Lamar Jackson. And now you got stew Huntley in
the mix, because Cooper Rush clearly.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Was not cutting it.
Speaker 8 (05:21):
So Lamar coming back will help the Ravens get a
second win. So they need at least a second win
before they start to talk about the postseason.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
I think it's just gonna help.
Speaker 8 (05:32):
Everything top to bottom morale, all that stuff with the
Baltimore Ravens.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Also have to get back Rokwan Smith. Every other player
except Lamar is off the injury report. There are no
game status designations, which has to be the first time
in this entire injury riddled season the Ravens have been
in that position. So a lot of things trending in
the right direction if Baltimore can get that first second win.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
Not trending in the right direction.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
The status of Panthers quarterback Bryce Young officially listed as
doubtful for Sunday's game against the Bills because of the
high ankle spring that he suffered last week on what
sure when you watch it from that particular angle, looks
like he might have gotten kicked. No surprise would be
watching the insiders. The expectation all week was Bryce was
not going to be able to go two.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
To four week injury.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
The hope is maybe even get back next week, But
for Sunday, it could be Andy Dalton leading the charge
against Buffalo.
Speaker 8 (06:23):
Mike yep elsewhere on the quarterback front in the NFC,
so Michael Pennix Junior questionable with a knee injury. He
had said the other day. The expectation is that he
is going to play. He was limited in practice on Friday,
but the hope is that he will be ready to
go out there for the Falcons here in this game
against the Dolphins. Just another one we're gonna have to
(06:45):
keep an eye on as we get closer to Sunday.
Speaker 7 (06:49):
Nice job being specific on the pronunciation there, Mike, we
saw a couple of different ways today.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
That's a tricky one. Let's talk about the Jets. Quarterback.
Speaker 7 (06:56):
Aaron Glenn, also a tricky one, has not yet named
his starting quarterback. It's pretty clear that he is considering
a quarterback change. It was also pretty clear that Woody Johnson,
the owner, came out and was real honest about where
he believes justin Field is that if they could we
could just complete a pass, things be better. And obvious
(07:17):
thought by the owner that maybe Justin Field is not
going to be the quarterback. Aaron Glenn wants to keep
everyone guessing which is is right. It's just interesting to
me that, look, the Jets are trying to get a win.
They need to get a win. They have had zero
this year, unlike the Ravens who've had one. It is
okay that Aaron Glenn wants to keep it seeker and
use every bit of competitive stuff that he can to
(07:37):
try to get a win.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
That's it.
Speaker 7 (07:39):
Most people believe Tyra Tiller is going to be their quarterback,
but he just hasn't made a firm and final declaration yet.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Tom forty nine Ers coach Kyle Shanahan, on the other hand,
always opts for maximum transparency when it comes to quarterback issues,
once again ruling out brock Perty as well as wide
receiver Ricky Pearsol for Sunday's game against the Texans. This
is now four straight games and sixth this season that
Purty has missed because of that turf toe like injury
(08:05):
that he suffered back in Week one and aggravated his
return in Week four. Mac Jones getting the start once
again and a chance to add to those incentives other.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Hundred grand with a win this week.
Speaker 8 (08:15):
Mike aj Brown missed only four snaps on Sunday against
the Vikings, a game in which he had four catches
for one hundred and twenty one yards and two touchdowns,
didn't seem to be adversely affected by anything, and Wednesday
rolled around. He wasn't practicing due to a hamstring injury.
Same thing the rest of the week. Nick Sirianni had
said earlier in the day that Brown is one of
the guys who could play if he didn't practice. However,
(08:38):
ruled out against the Giants this coming Sunday. Another twist
in what has been an incredibly odd first half of
the season for AJ Brown and the Philadelphia Eagles. DeVante
Smith has been really good for them nine catches for
one hundred and eighty three yards, and they have some
other guys that they believe in for sure, but this
is a big loss for the Eagles heading into Sunday.
Speaker 7 (09:01):
Yeah, now both of the team's star receivers and that
one not gonna play Molik neighbors of the Giants, AJ
Brown with the Eagles. Meanwhile, a couple of star receivers
are going to play for the Washington Commanders. That's not Sunday,
that is Monday Night football against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
Bad news. No, Jaden Daniels, he is not going to
be out there.
Speaker 7 (09:18):
But Terry McLaurin a full participant, Deebo Samuel right there,
a full participant. Deebo had been dealing with a heel injury,
McLaurin a hip flexer injury. It's taken a minute, maybe
more than anticipated, but both those guys are full, both
of them expected to play Monday, Tom.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Chargers Vikings last night really all Chargers, Justin Herbert going
up against Carson Wentz in this one.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
JJ McCarthy's still not.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
Quite ready to go. That should change next week.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
More on that. Momentarily early on in this game, already
seven to nothing, Kamanie Vidahl, all those injuries in the backfield,
he has absolutely taken advantage, waltzing right into the end
zone right here.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
This was kind of the story of the game. Later on, Justin.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
Herbert, a big game with his life, also used his
arm on this one, finding Lad McConkey down the field.
That is going to be a twenty seventy yard touchdown.
Chargers breaking this one open twenty one to three before halftime.
By you actually got the ball in the end zone.
They kept it close into the second half. This one
more or less sealed it on a brutal night for
Carson Wentz, not just the play, but the fact that
(10:20):
every time he was touched, sometimes when he was not touched,
was he in a ton of pain, clearly upset and
again hurting after the game.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
Here's what Kevin O'Connell had to say for JJ.
Speaker 9 (10:31):
It's going to be about the commitment that he's made
throughout his rehab to you know, getting back to the
those concrete fundamentals and techniques that allow his feet and
eyes to work together and find completions, you know, to
any one of our five eligibles, you know, and especially
looking ahead to how well Detroit's playing defensively, we're going
(10:53):
to have to be able to sustain some early down
success and I think Jj'll play a role in that
as well as you know, getting that all eleven feel of,
no matter what the scheme is, getting the execution to
the line so we can allow our playmakers and coinciding
with that, our run game to work hand in hand.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
So here's where we are.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
We've had all the speculation for the better part of
six weeks here, some of it unfounded speculation and conspiracy
theories ian regarding why JJ McCarthy is not onto the field.
The very straightforward answer to this point is his ankle
wasn't one hundred percent high. Ankle sprains are four to
six week injuries. He's now missed six weeks, You've got
(11:36):
an extended week, a bonus practice on Monesday Monday, and
now to hear Kevin O'Connell tell it, they feel like
they're going to be able to get JJ McCarthy in
a position to go out and not just play, but
play well, which has been the goal all along.
Speaker 7 (11:49):
Yeah, the headline of this whole thing is JJ McCarthy
is going to be the starting quarterback for the Vikings,
assuming he is fully healthy, which they believe he will be.
The other stuff has really been quite the roller coaster ride.
It stee are the Vikings Literally Kevin O'Connell one of
the most transparent coaches, is he literally faking an injury
for a player to get him off the field. Obviously
(12:10):
not Not only is it an injury, but it's an
injury they knew could take a while. They thought it
would be maybe about four weeks, okay, maybe additional, it's
six full weeks for JJ McCarthy to feel like he
can go out there and play and be effective.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
There's that part of it.
Speaker 7 (12:24):
The other part of it is they want JJ McCarthy
Mike to be successful. In order to do that, you
have to practice. When you're injured, you can't practice as much.
So what the Vikings wanted was for McCarthy to go
out and practice and be ready when it is his
turn to play. That's why he did the additional workouts.
That's why he's met with Kevin O'Connell during the bye
week to get up to speed. That's why they're going
(12:45):
to have an additional practice next week. I expect him
to start and get the full week of practice. They
just want to make sure that when he does, he
is fully ready to roll.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
Mike and that he's gonna have protection.
Speaker 8 (12:56):
I mean, Carson Wentz didn't have for the most part
his two tackles here because Christian Darisol played only nine snaps.
I believe it was Brian O'Neil was inactive after coming
back for one game against the Eagles.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
So you get the extra rest with the bye week.
Speaker 8 (13:10):
And if you don't know what tackles mean to a quarterback,
look at how different the Chargers looked last week, having
had Joe allt back there to protect justin Herbert's blindside.
There Carson Wentz. Carson tried to gut it out as
much as he possibly could. For a few reasons, right,
he wanted to be there for the team at a
time where they needed them. And number two, this is
his best chance that he's going to have the rest
(13:32):
of his career here at this point, to play as
a starting quarterback for a team with these weapons around
him in a good offense. He tried his best to
battle through that left shoulder. You could tell he was
in immense pain. So when he's on the sideline and
they're losing it and he knows JJ McCarthy's coming back
and he's in pain, there's a lot going through Carson
Wentz his head at that point.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
I would also remind people again for everybody who's already
written off JJ McCarthy. The Vikings drafted him at number
ten last year, missed his entire rookie season because of
a meniscus injury. He has not practiced on consecutive days
in the foll capacity since before Week one. This is
the week to do that here. We'll see what a
translated to. There's still want to know in the mission.
(14:14):
The only game JJ McCarthy has played fully healthy this season,
they beat the Bears in that opener. Here, big opportunity
one way or another to see how this season's going
to go begin on Sunday against the Lions.
Speaker 8 (14:26):
We have been treated to some fine throwbacks this season,
and the Denver Broncos are bringing them back for.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
This game against the Cowboys.
Speaker 8 (14:33):
You look at up top there, man, that looks like
a promo for Super Bowl twelve. Let's get Harvey Martin
and Randy White, those guys co MVPs.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
The only time you got co MVP's in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 8 (14:44):
But yeah, it is going to be a fine uniform
performance by both teams on Sunday. How will it be
with regard to the Cowboys offense against this Broncos defense. Baldy,
our guy, Brian Baldinger, are going to break down the
Cowboys offense for us right.
Speaker 5 (14:58):
Now while the Cowboys traveled to Denver in a pivotal
game this weekend.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
And I'm not going to bore you with the bunch statistics.
Speaker 5 (15:06):
The Cowboys offense is just good and Dak has never
played better. And all you gotta do is just watch
him play because the ball gets out before you get
to three count to three, and the ball is out
like you watch these plays right here, This is Dak
Prescott and here comes Cede Lamb in the lineup last week.
Third and one. I mean here it is double slam
right and the play is for a CD, but the
(15:27):
ball is out by time you get to three.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
It's hitch and throw.
Speaker 5 (15:31):
The rhythm and the timing to this offense is impectable.
Watch out fast Dak gets rid of this ball to
George Pickens. It's two steps hitch throw.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
He trust his receivers to beat the corner.
Speaker 5 (15:41):
He gives him enough space right here to be able
to drop that ball right into the bread basket. Third
and twelve. Might have to go five steps here and
hitch and throw to get the ball to fergus in
the middle of the field. Five steps hitch throw. Ferguson's there.
The safety's going in the middle of the field right there.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
With CD.
Speaker 5 (15:56):
It opens up the window. Now you're going to play
here for or Pickings, who's been awesome. It's third and five.
He goes to motion. Marshalln Latimore runs with them. It's
van coverage. Oh look at Washington, they're blitzing them. It
doesn't matter. Daxs has thrown his ball before Pickens is
out of his break. He takes the hit and delivers
his strike and what the passing game is doing, it's
(16:17):
opening things up in the run game. Javonte Williams is
having his best year ever. Two safeties back, one going deep.
It really opens up an alley here no matter who
the offensive linemen are for the Cowboys full stop. Heiod
from the right tackle to the left guard and let
Javonte Williams here find the alley, which he does for
eight yards. This offense is clicking on every single cylinder
(16:41):
right now, but it starts with Dad being able to
get the ball out on time against the team the
Denver Broncos that lead the league in sacks right now.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
Oh yeah, had a Baldy breakdown. Appreciate that always.
Speaker 8 (16:53):
Jane Slater now joining US forty forty thirty seven, forty four.
These are the point total that the Cowboys have put
up on the board this year.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
Jane.
Speaker 8 (17:03):
We've got the trade deadline coming up, and everybody's talking
about the Cowboys because it had trade they made coming
into the season, and Jerry said, well we might use
some of that draft ammo to go out and get somebody.
So the importance of this game for the Cowboys ahead
of that trade deadline.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
Jays later is.
Speaker 10 (17:22):
I think a big deal.
Speaker 11 (17:23):
And here is where things are getting a little trickier, though.
I think that they find themselves looking at the fact
they've got the twenty one day practice window open for
guys like Demarvi and Overshown and Shavon Revelt.
Speaker 10 (17:34):
You guys are really excited to have back on the field.
Speaker 11 (17:37):
But right now, Donovan will Wilson at your starting safety,
he's been ruled out of this one. And the situation
with Trayvon Diggs continues. Still no answer as to why
he will miss his second game as a result of
a concussion. He is still in concussion protocol. But then
you had Stephen Jones on the radio today talking about
(17:58):
the fact they are actually considering moving him to IR.
The situation just gets more and more curious. Mike will
try and get to the bottom of that one. But
as a result of that, you're putting so much on offense.
Dak Prescott is playing lights out this year. They have
the best offense in the league. You don't know if
you're gonna get George Pickens next year. Right now you've
got George Pickens ceedee lamb, Dak Prescott healthy and playing
(18:21):
his best ball. Does Jerry Dare use some of those
picks from the Micah Parsons trade to go out and
get some frontline help. It was todm Pellisero myself this
week who were able to rule out that Max Crosby
was not one of those frontline players. But I don't
think this excludes others that they might be looking into
right now. They're doing their homework, but I don't believe
that they are being overly aggressive right now because I
(18:42):
think they want to see what this team does on
Sunday against the Broncos. But I do want to point
out some numbers. They're giving up over four hundred yards
a game, almost thirty points a game. They've got to
get this thing fixed. It's just hard when you don't
have the personnel to do it.
Speaker 8 (18:57):
Mike Yep, we shall see be an interesting team to
watch leading up to that trade deadline. Jane Slater, Let's
see if Sunday's game has that impact. Look, they're still
in the mix in the NFC East, especially with the
Commanders sort of sputtering at this point.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
Jane Slater, appreciate you very much.
Speaker 12 (19:14):
Always, Hey, there's no such thing as an ugly wins.
Speaker 13 (19:19):
Ryan Merrick got a sack. Hey, Sam got a sack.
Mixed cardon got one and a half. Princeley got a sack,
hold on, Derek.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
Brown got two signs.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
Okay, proud of this guy.
Speaker 12 (19:39):
Proud of this guy battling, battling and continuing to get
his game right. All that came through and we needed him. Say,
you're the get nine ninety two and a touchdown and
your boys went for one twenty five and thirty six
carries today rushing the ball came away. It's the resolve,
(20:02):
it's the result of this group. It's the belief of
this group. You just keep playing football.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
That is a happy group, isn't it?
Speaker 7 (20:09):
Will they be happy Sunday after facing these guys, Not
the blue Jays, Not the blue Jays. Blue Jays are
playing tonight the Bills who used to hang out in
Toronto for I don't know, maybe a cup of coffee.
Speaker 3 (20:20):
Wish them.
Speaker 7 (20:20):
Look, I don't really care. The Mets are out of it.
I'll still watch, but it's not like I'm going to
be rooting. That said, blue Jays are kind of be
kind of a fun story. Plus they also have the
son of my favorite player not on the Mets growing
up which is Vladimiger. Anyway, Hi, Cameron Wolf, thank you
for joining us. That was enough of my baseball talk
right there. I know you're a Phils fan. I know
they're out just like the Mets. So all things are
(20:43):
now equal. Let's talk about the Phillies of Mets are equal.
Speaker 3 (20:47):
Both are out.
Speaker 7 (20:47):
Let's talk about the Buffalo Bills coming off of bye week.
Losers are two straight. What are we going to see
different on Sunday?
Speaker 2 (20:56):
Yeah, it's funny.
Speaker 6 (20:57):
Josh Allen said he got a call from his grandma
last week and said, you need to smile more.
Speaker 2 (21:01):
What is going on?
Speaker 6 (21:03):
Well, it's hard to smile when you're losing. I'm told
the Bills made a lot of meetings throughout this bye
week to try to figure out how do we get
this offense back on track, and their observation was we
just need small changes, like taking care of the ball
a little bit better. Five turnovers the last two weeks.
That's something they've been really good at. They've went the
other way, and also they want to get back to
(21:24):
celebrating having that fun that Josh Allen mentioned. Expect them
to celebrate a bunch if.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
They get in the end zone.
Speaker 6 (21:30):
I'd expect James Cook to be a key factor in
this and they think Dalton and Kaid, who should be
back this week, and Curtis Samuel should add some spruce
to that offense. But look, with this Bills team, the
biggest issue is their defense. They've been struggling throughout the
year in four years. They're hopeful that some cavalry are
coming back this week to help. Michael Hoyt, Larry Elgin,
Joebi coming back from suspension. They think that'll help that
(21:53):
run defense, especially against the Panthers team that loves to
run the ball. I did check on them with the
trade deadline coming they're making they're interested in potentially making
a move, but they're tight on money, so if they
make a move, it'll be a little bit more than
Amari Cooper category, where teams pay down the money or
a low salary to add an addition.
Speaker 7 (22:12):
Makes a lot of sense, although if you really think
about it, the two editions, this should we kind of
feel like a trade acquisition because both those guys haven't
played for six games.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
Now, poof there they are on the defense.
Speaker 6 (22:21):
All right.
Speaker 7 (22:22):
Some uncertainty, I would say for the Carolina Panthers at quarterback.
We know that Bryce Young not going to play, Andy
Dalton gets the start. How are they going to be
successful offensively? The Panthers I'm talking about against his Bills defense.
Speaker 6 (22:34):
Yeah, the Panthers are a three game winning streak. A
little bit of bummer not to have Bryce Young. It
sounds like that's just a one week injury of the
hope is he's back next week. But Andy Dalton's played
a lot of ball. I talked to their receiver at
ted Row Mint Millan this week and asked them about Daldon.
He was like, the big thing about him, he's calm,
cool and there's nothing he hasn't seen. And so if
we come down early, we think Dalton can lead us
(22:55):
back out of that hole. But the reality is the Panthers,
if they win on Sunday against this Bill's team, it's
gonna come through their running attack. It's gonna come through rico'
daddle and Chewba Hubbard taking care of the football and
pounding the run on a Bill's defense that second worse
in the league and rushing defense.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
That's their plan.
Speaker 6 (23:11):
I got a chance to talk to their offensive cord
Nder brad Azich this week and he said, look, we're
going to continue to rotate these guys every other series
like we did last week, with the propensity to maybe
go to the hot hand if it lends itself. But
we really are comfortable with how our offensive line is blocking,
how they're finishing. And I asked them to give me
a description of the two backs, and he's like, look,
we got Chuba, who should be better this week, a
(23:33):
week off that injury. He's our patient but punishing finisher,
best conditioned dude on the team. You got Rico, who's
a violent downhill guy. He's not waiting for anything. They
think that combo can give them a chance for upset
against Buffalo on Sunday.
Speaker 7 (23:47):
Man The emergence of Rico daddles seemingly out of nowhere
when it looked like all was lost for the Panthers.
Running game has been just as unbelievable as their three
game winning street cam. Great stuff, Enjoy that game, Appreciate
you as always.
Speaker 3 (24:01):
Not the only great game this week.
Speaker 7 (24:03):
By the way, now that we're gonna have fun talking
about forty nine ers Texans, if only we had Jane Slater,
who's literally going to be there to talk about it.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
Oh, actually, I'm told we do hang around.
Speaker 7 (24:14):
Let's listen to Jane tell us everything we need to
know about this showdown coming.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
Up time now for good coverage presented by Progressive Insurance.
The Browns defense one of the NFL's best three week seven,
number one in total defense and the only team ranked
in the top five in both passing and rushing yards
(24:42):
allowed per game, Entering a big one on Sundays. They'll
look for their first win streak if they can beat
the Patriots. We got a really good one between the
forty nine ers and Texans coming up on Sunday. Another
opportunity for Christian McCaffrey to install himself in rare air. Really,
any time you can have your name in the same
(25:03):
breath as Hall of Famer Marshall Fulk, you're off to
a pretty good start as he is in both the
run and the pass phase. Welcome back to the Insiders,
presented by Progressive Insurance Tom Pilasaro, joined once again by
our Jane Slater. Jane Brock. Party is still give me
one on the depth chart and he will be. We've
seen a lot more Mac Jones, obviously than we have
(25:24):
Party to this point in the season. What are the
forty nine ers seeing in what they have in Mac
as they try to stay at the top of a
really competitive NFC West, Well, I've.
Speaker 11 (25:34):
Got I think one of the things that stands out
the most about Mac Jones is his ability to get
with the ball so quick. When you look at his numbers,
two point six nine seconds two hundred and forty seven
yards on quick passes over the last two weeks, trailing
only Patrick Mahomes and Baker Mayfield. Jones about as confident
of a young quarterback that I've talked to you recently.
He tells me part of his game and the plan
(25:54):
for him has been getting his guys to block, get
the ball out quick and tired the opposing defensive line. Now,
Jones says he is having fun with the forty nine ers.
He says it's been nice going somewhere where he knows
the coach has wanted him.
Speaker 10 (26:07):
I mean, Kyle Shanahan has vocally talked about that over.
Speaker 11 (26:09):
The years, praising Kyle's emphasis on quarterback footwork, the run game,
of the passing game. He called him one of his
favorites he's had coaching him, citing their similar personality and
as you said, Rock Party is their QB one, and
he says there is no animosity in that room. In fact,
he said, like Brock, he's been on the sidelines. He
knows what it's like watching the other quarterback and so
(26:31):
the thing that he has excited him the most about
that quarterback room is how collectively they are all working together.
But you know, without Rock Party, they're not doing too bad.
Speaker 10 (26:40):
Right now.
Speaker 11 (26:41):
The thing continues to roll and a lot of that
has to do with Kyl Shanahan and his innovation on offense,
and especially when you consider all the injuries that they've
had to deal with this season.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
He tells when we.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
Got Christian McCaffrey, who as both a receiver and a
runner affects the game in a lot of different ways.
That Texans defense, particularly since Matt Burke took over the
play call and has been really good, how do they
go about containing Cimac, especially on the ground.
Speaker 11 (27:05):
Well, they know that that's the one guy they need
to focus and on. I talked to Tamika Ryans ahead
in this one and he said, it's CMC.
Speaker 10 (27:11):
You've got to focus, but you can't.
Speaker 11 (27:13):
You can't focus so much on a player that you
lose sight of oh, I don't know Brian Robinson, Junior,
Juwan Jennings, but they certainly move guys around, both in
the running game but also in the passing game. You know,
when I talked to Jaln Peatree, you can tell his
confidence is beginning to pick up. He's got thirty one tackles,
three interceptions. He had that one nice one against Derrick
(27:34):
Henry in the third quarter against the Ravens a couple
of weeks ago. But he says the team is finding themselves.
It is both When I talked to Dalton shows both
frustrating and encouraging that they've been in so many one
score games, and talking to Demika Ryan's about that. I
think there's been twenty six since he's been the head coach.
Speaker 10 (27:53):
He says.
Speaker 11 (27:53):
It says that his team is still fighting. They're always
just one play away, one possession away, and so they're
content with that confidence.
Speaker 10 (28:01):
A big win over the forty nine ers would certainly
do that at home.
Speaker 11 (28:04):
And what makes this game so interesting is that I
can't wait to get into this on Sunday when I'm there.
Damiko Ryan said that his inspiration and really the idea
to become a head coach came from Kyle Shanahan.
Speaker 10 (28:17):
It was Kyle who saw something in Demico.
Speaker 11 (28:19):
They have never faced off against each other as head coaches.
Speaker 10 (28:23):
This will be the first time.
Speaker 11 (28:24):
It's also the first time that Kyle has returned to Houston,
so I anticipate a bunch of his Texas teammates will
also be there cheering him on.
Speaker 10 (28:31):
So this is going to be a good one.
Speaker 8 (28:34):
There's going to be a bit of a throwback for
folks who watched Good Morning Football weekend. When we had
that program, it was like Good Morning Football, but on
the weekend, hopefully you followed all of that and Adam
Rank would come on and he would have amazing backgrounds
behind him and all kinds of sketches and stick that
he had developed through the entire week.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
So we're back to that.
Speaker 8 (28:51):
He is somewhere at the end of days still has WiFi, apparently,
Adam Rank. Tell us where you are and tell us
about the quarterback when it comes to Fantasy football this
week Byemageddon.
Speaker 3 (29:03):
This is no bit garafaula.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
This is real.
Speaker 14 (29:06):
This is really what the outside world look Take a
step outside of the studio.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
This is what the world looks like.
Speaker 14 (29:11):
Because there are sixteenth on a bye, the Seahawks, the Lions,
the Rams, the Cardinals, and then the Jags of the Raiders.
But those other teams are very important that we probably
are out there looking for a quarterback this week this stream,
I'm gonna start with Michael Pennix of the Atlanta Falcons.
One of the things that we do in these instances,
who's the opponent?
Speaker 3 (29:32):
Who are they going up against?
Speaker 14 (29:33):
And I think this week against the Miami Dolphins, it
is a very favorable opponent.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
Dow.
Speaker 3 (29:37):
You do run the roost that they will go out
there and run up a huge lead.
Speaker 14 (29:42):
But Sean Robinson will go out there and throw up
forty points and Michael Pennock's attempts ten passes. But I
still love the matchup, and at this point beggars cannot
be choosers. Let's move on to Joe Flacco, a man
who this week admitted that he likes to dine alone.
And if you heard what his children said about him
during the pre season, call them their dad a scrub, don't.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
I don't blame him for wanting to go out there
and dine alone.
Speaker 14 (30:05):
Now, I give Joe Flacco a lot of credit because
Joe Flacco arrived in Cincinnati. He walked up to Jamar Chase.
He said, what number are you? And he goes, I'm
number one. He goes cool. He went out there and
threw them the ball like eighty times. That's exactly see
Carson Wentz. This is what you do. You find your
your good player and you pepper him with targets. We
(30:26):
don't I don't need to see Josevic getting any targets.
Throw them all to Jamar Chase and t Higgins. That's
actually maybe the best planet've ever heard. By the way,
Flacco didn't admit that he likes to eat alone.
Speaker 3 (30:38):
He celebrated eating alone.
Speaker 7 (30:39):
I'm a huge fan of Hotel bar or otherwise bar
eating alone.
Speaker 3 (30:44):
It's a very lovely experience.
Speaker 7 (30:45):
Rank get us through the running back position during by Mageddon.
Speaker 14 (30:50):
Well, a couple of weeks ago, I told everybody, implored
you stock up, stock up on your canned goods and
Kyle Manung Guy, because at some point Kyle Manong Guy
is going to pay off for you in your fantasy rosters.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
And for some people who needed him.
Speaker 14 (31:04):
Last week they started him against the New Orleans Saints,
where he went out there he averaged over six yards
per carry. Both him and DeAndre Swift had great games.
Both of them got into the end zone. Now they're
going up against a Ravens defense that has allowed the
second most points that fantasy running backs this season in
a game where we expect the Bears to establish the run.
(31:25):
Both Manungai and Swift are good options. All right, let's
move on to New Orleans Devin Neil, who today Kellen
Moore said he is going to have a bigger rule
in this offense moving forward. Now, of course Kendre Miller
is going to be out for the season with a
torn acl We're going to see Devin Neil going up
against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that has allowed a
(31:46):
top seven running back in each of the last two weeks.
They've allowed the seventh most fantasy points per game the
running backs this year. So, Devin Neil, if you even
if you don't need to start him, you need to
be rostering him.
Speaker 8 (32:00):
The Apocalypse allegedly will have four horsemen. Uh so, as
we get to the wide receivers, you're gonna have to
give me a team with a horse related mascot.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
Make it happen.
Speaker 14 (32:11):
Okay, Well, I was gonna start with the Buccaneers. Can
I do Test Johnson real quick? I don't know if
I got this out of order, Tess Johnson. There it is,
Tess Johnson.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
Listen. If I had, if I well, I don't know.
Speaker 14 (32:23):
Maybe they ride horses once there their Buccaneers ship runs aground.
Speaker 3 (32:27):
Perhaps I don't know. He rode horses. See there you go.
It all comes back together. No, you're all good. Listen.
Speaker 14 (32:35):
I don't have anything to add other than like, we
need targets from a good defense or from a good
offense going up against the defense that has allowed of
a lot of production. The States have allowed the second
most points to wide receivers this season, so obviously a
Mecca Bukaz the number one Test Johnson will be the
number two.
Speaker 3 (32:50):
Oh, we got Alex Pierce. Alex Pierce. He peers, there
it is. I do I should know my own notes.
I should know what I'm going to be talking about.
Speaker 14 (32:58):
Alex Pierce is one of the most intriguing players this week.
This Colts offense has a lot of a lot of variety,
a lot of production. Obviously, Tyler Warren has kind of
emerged as the number one guy, but we can see
production out of both Alec Pierce and Josh down.
Speaker 3 (33:14):
So if you need to go out there and pick
up a wide.
Speaker 14 (33:16):
Receiver this week, and it's all and and you're in
a league apparently screen you have to have at least
one horse related mascot on your roster, then why not
go get Alec Piers.
Speaker 7 (33:29):
There a lot of people don't know that a cold
is a horse, which is actually there's a lot of
things they learn on this show. That's one of the
congratulations help me at the tight end position.
Speaker 1 (33:41):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (33:42):
Now, I will say I picked up Colson levelin. I
hope no one else did, but I'm excited about that.
Take me through another tight.
Speaker 3 (33:48):
End option during VIM again.
Speaker 14 (33:50):
Well, Colson Lovelin is expected to start this week, and
we saw let me you know, I'm gonna don't worry. Okay,
I know you don't have b roll for this, so
I'm sorry. Back in the booth. Uh, We're gonna roll
with it because I'm to talk about Ian's making me
talk about Colson, is encouraging me to talk about Colson Loveland.
I will say this, the one thing about Ben Johnson
for anybody who's worried about this, Ben Johnson during the
bye week really committed himself to going out there and
(34:11):
getting this running game established for the Bears. I know
that he is aware that Colson Lovelin has been outperformed
by guys like Aronde Gadston and Tyler Warren. I expect
a heavy dose of Colston Loveland this week and another time.
If you don't want to listen to me, because I'm
a Bears homer, I get it. THEO Johnson has also
been playing fantastic. Now, when you sit here and you
(34:32):
look at these numbers, his numbers are going to be
a little skewed because of this play. That's that's kind
of a bang bang play that really like oh his
average depth of like okay, all those numbers go up
because of that big play. However, there is not a
player on the Giants who's been targeted more in the
red zone near the goal line than THEO Johnson. So
this is a lot of Cam Skataboo. There's a lot
(34:53):
of Wandale Robinson, but when they get into scoring position,
it has been THEO Johnson as the guy that they
are looking for.
Speaker 3 (35:00):
I like him this week.
Speaker 14 (35:01):
He's a great option for somebody who if you don't care,
if you can't get Colson Lovelin. If you missed out
on Harold Fanning Junior, Theo Johnson is another delightful option.
Speaker 1 (35:13):
Time now for the Wolf of Bull Street himself, our
guy Cameron Wolf whoevery week joins us with the notes
the things he is hearing and seeing around the NFL
cam get us started. As we head toward the Bulk Week.
Speaker 6 (35:28):
Eight, Let's start through Wolf of ball Street in Seattle,
where Jackson Smith and Jigba is introducing himself to superstardom.
He leaves the NFL in receiving and let me take
you back to this summer. All off season, a lot
of his teammates have been yelling out to him at
random times, best receiver in the world, best receiver in football.
He just smile humbly, but he had been putting this
(35:51):
on his goal mark to be known as one of
the best receivers in football. I talked to him early
earlier this year. He said, one thousand percent, it is
my goal to be the best receiver every time I play.
He is on pace to break Calvin Johnson's single season record.
It is time to put him in the Jamar Chase
Justin Jefferson elite receiver conversation. Now talk about another elite receiver,
(36:14):
Rashi Rice and his impact to this Chiefs offense. I
talked to Patrick Mahomes on the sidelines a couple of
weeks ago. He talked about the energy that Xavier Worthy
brought back to the offense, but he said, when we
get Rashid Rice back, our offense will be complete. And
we saw a glimpse of that this past week against
the Raiders. Six catches, two touchdowns. They believe Rashee Rice
(36:34):
changes everything. Another fun thing he completes, this young receiver
TikTok circle. It's funny, but they believe these TikTok dance
as they do, brings the energy that Mahomes and the
older Kelsey don't necessarily have and balances out this offense.
And finally, let's go to Cincinnati where they are brewing
a young star cornerback and DJ Turner the second This
(36:55):
past week of the game I was at, he had
shadow coverage much of the game against DK Mex only
allowed one cash for thirty nine yards, had this incredible
interception where he took it away from DK metcalf and
there was another one throne to the safety when he
was covering Metcalf. He told me before the game and
after I'm him, I want the top receiver, I want
the respect. Their secondary coach, Charlie Burks has told me
(37:18):
he is coming. They believe they have a number one
receiver and in a time when Cam Taylor BRIT's going
through some mental struggles, had to be a healthy scratch.
The Bengals believe Turner is their number one quarterback of
the future, and he's showing it with this play.
Speaker 1 (37:32):
The one practice I was at at Bengals camp this
year and everybody was talking about the defense. DJ Turner
got his hand on like five or six balls. Everybody
was talking about one of the fastest guys you're gonna
find in the NFL, taking advantage of that physical skill set. Now, Cam,
thank you very much. We will see you again very soon.
If you want more insiders, you are in locked. We're

Some news today, the NFL and NFL Players Association both
sending out memos reminding players and, in the league's case,
everyone else, league and team staff about the various rules
surrounding gambling. This light of the indictment of multiple current
and former NBA players across multiple federal cases. Bottom line
(39:08):
for NFL players, do not bet on football.
Speaker 2 (39:11):
For the rest of us, don't bet on anything.
Speaker 1 (39:14):
The Giants were fined in a case involving the concussion
proto call, as followed with Jackson Dart. No violations found
by an NFL NFLPA joint review in terms of how
the actual proto call was implemented, but based upon both
Brian Dabele Amscamskataboo poking their heads in to check on
the state of the proto call. The team was fined
(39:36):
two hundred thousand dollars separately, Dable Find one hundred thousand
and Scataboo fined fifteen thousand dollars, both for conduct detrimental
to the league. Miami Dolphins are honoring the late Jason
Jenkins with their Football Unites Days of Service, a month
of community projects celebrating his legacy. This week, players joined
(39:57):
local students and police at hard Rock State, then helped
beautify Lake Lucerne in Miami Gardens. The effort wraps up
on October thirtieth, that is next Thursday, or in the
Dolphins Thursday night game against the Ravens on Jason's birthday.
For all of us who knew Jason, of course, it's
wonderful to see the Dolphins carrying on his legacy. Big
(40:20):
weekend of football in the NFL. In you got ten seconds,
what are you most looking forward to?
Speaker 7 (40:24):
I don't know all the games ten seconds.
Speaker 3 (40:28):
I got ten seconds to talk about the game. I'm
looking at the Commanders. They got their Dolphins back at
tip jaydon Natals. Can they get thine with the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (40:35):
That's Mondays, that's Monday Show. I'm excited about all the
gag Mondays.
Speaker 6 (40:39):
Yeah,
