reminiscent Seattle out. Man, Yo, we're doing it big dude,
I'm in wisdom laced. That was hot right there. Ate.

So I guess you would say this is like the

(03:05):
best sports podcast, you know, meets the players, the Players Club,
players TV went next level. Shout out to producer TV
the Players Club. In case my wife watching baby, I
don't go to the Players Club. Yeah, I just was
it was a classic movie. Thought the movie. We will
say that it was a classic movie. Now listen, Mike, um,

(03:26):
you know, I appreciate you being here. So shout out

so you're back. I'm just saying, the fans wanted to

(03:49):
listen to you. They've been missing you. So shout out
to the fans. Hit us up on iTunes, stitcher, U
on YouTube. You we are nothing. So trying to build
this from a podcast to a podcast to a show
to a show to a movie. Because that's what it is.
Let's do So. Speaking of movies, we're talking. A lot
has happened, Mike since we've last seen each other in person.

(04:12):
Leonardo DiCaprio won an Oscar. Finally he won that thing
after all kind of tremendous films. He won that thing too, Man,
he looked good. I haven't seen the movie. It's the
most intense seat gripping its intense bro I heard, yeah,
I heard it was really intense. Not that Leo hasn't

(04:33):
gave us that before. But congrats to Leo. But listen though, Soo.
The Broncos won a Super Bowl. Kanye dropped an album.
Kendrick dropped another surprise album. Kanye, I need you to
drop that album on something that I look. I don't
have title, man, and I'm not gonna just get tired
of thirty days just so I can download that one CD.
But if somebody else comes out with a CD, I
want that's on title and I can't do the thirty

(04:54):
days again. That's true. I need you to drop that
on another I'm gonna say something else so I can
get it. Producer TD At Producer TD of the Great
That album is worth listening to. Bro, It's it's like
and I've heard I've heard other way, I've heard the
other side. I've heard that a Mike. Look, man, let
you need to let that thing right. Okay, Well, will
you be to judge when you listen to I got it,
So we'll listen to it over a couple of days,
all right. So, um, you know, we obviously can appreciate

(05:17):
good music because that's part of our show. But we
have to talk about football. Two legends in the game,
Calvin Johnson and Peyton Manning retired. And it's crazy because
Peyton retired after it was good number. Now cut that
in half. That's how many years Calvin was in the game.

(05:37):
How crazy is that We're talking about two legends but
Peyton double double And you know what, Nate, I'm glad
we're talking about it. Man, I've had something to say
about this. Man, I think you're gonna start to see
as and I know a lot of the football enthusists
don't want to hear this. You're gonna see guys retiring
even younger. Um with the exceptional quarterbacks, because quarterbacks, good

(06:02):
quarterback player, you can play till your forty. Other positions
you just can't do that and look at the salaries
guys are making that name it used to be back
in the day, even before us man, you didn't really
make your money until your second, third, fourth, maybe contract
you got guys we're making so much money when they
re up just saying why why I I don't have

(06:25):
to beat myself up. I don't have to work, I
don't have to do all of it, and I got
my money right. And you're talking about talking about a
perfect blend between making enough money and then being aware
of your body right, knowing when it's time to shut
down so you can walk away from the game, like
she just said. But we're watching highlights here right now.
I want you to pay attention to something. How he

(06:46):
hits the ground, you know, and people are like, well,
who cares? And everybody hits the ground. It hurts c J.
In six five to forty. He's going up and getting rocks.
He's not a diva. He's never had the alligator arms.
If the ball is in the air, he's leaving his
and he's hitting in the ground. So I say that
to say this, there's been a lot of wearing tear
on CJ's body that he didn't necessarily let the public know.

(07:09):
Not because he was trying to be tough, because that's
the type of cloth he cough. He was cut from.
His dad worked on the railroad, his mother is a doctor.
You're talking about the perfect plan of extreme intelligence and
extreme blue collar attitude when they I want to ask
you this, though, because we've seen two greats in their
prime Barry Sanders from the out of Detroit now Calvin

(07:31):
Johnson in their primes, where we could see these guys
playing for seven eight more years just totally walk away.
What is it about the What is it about Detroit?
What is it about the organization? What is it about? Um?
I I can't necessarily say something wrong with the city.
I love the city of Detroit. Every time I've been there,
I've had a ball to people are great, that people

(07:51):
love you. Um So I'm not talking about the city.
What's what's up with the organization? Man? Because it has
to be something there. Because I could see Alvin if
this was a New England Patriot team and and and
they had one x amount of games, and he knows
that playoffs are every year thing. If you know that,
I don't. I don't know if I see Calvin walking

(08:12):
away right now. Now, there's a lot of bullets in
those words because it's it's a loaded question. That's why
I said there's bullets in there. Listen, when it comes
to play in Detroit, like the most joy you can
get is giving the city wins. In two thousand and eleven,

(08:34):
we made the playoffs and you we weren't content, like
we didn't celebrate as if we want a super Bowl,
we we we get it, like we were just getting
in the playoffs. But the collective breath that that city took,
like damn, Okay, finally here's a team that we're proud of,
a group of individuals that care about the sport and

(08:55):
go out there and give us hard work, blooded, sweat
and tears. Now, I was only there for four years.
Calvin was there for nine, and there were times where
it was good. You know, Detroit was on the map.
Free a just wanted to go there. But majority of
Calvin's career, Detroit was looked at as the armpit of
the NFL from a player's perspective, and he went on

(09:18):
in sixteen, two and fourteen, he had season after season
where you're the number one guy you're talking about put
the team on your back. He was doing that weekend,
week out, year in, year out, not to mention he's
playing less than majority of the time. And I know
most players are banged up, but it was a lot

(09:40):
different than Calvin. And I'm saying this because I was there.
I woke up and went to the facility and he
was there first, walking in the training room. And it
wasn't what you do when you get in a cold
top hotel to do a little conscience loosen up. Now.
It was I gotta nurse the spring. And you know
what they say when it comes to springs in the NFL,
usually tour something, or it's a separated shoulder, or it's

(10:01):
a concussion. He had and he would never want to
sit out to the point where Calvin one time was
limping through practice right and me wanting to be the
teammate and the big brother I was. I was like
c J. Chill, bro like, I will run all your
reps today. Relax, you need not be on the field
right now. But his mindset was I'm gonna go out

(10:23):
here and do this, and not because I'm the highest paid,
not because I'm the man the franchise to face. It's
because that's all he knew, I'm gonna wake up and
I'm gonna work as if I was the eighth string
receiver trying to make the team in preseason. That's how
he worked every days. Greatness and that's what c J was.

(10:45):
And I know you you talked to him today, You
probably talked to him yesterday or whatever. Um, you talk
about that work ethic and how great he was at
his approach, How hard was him. What was it for
him to say, no, I don't want it anymore? Because again,
all would you're telling me about the guy. I don't
know c J person, but all what you're telling me
about the guys he loves the game of football, loves

(11:07):
his teammates, loves to put his body on us, loves
this city. Okay, how you walk away from that? And
and they were gonna try to extend you so that
you get all your money. Well, we kind of just
talked about it. We talked about the amount of money
guys are making. Calvimate a ton of money on the
field because of his greatness. Um, he's done a tremendous
job off the field. You know, he's got big time

(11:30):
money from Nike. Name a football player that has his
own football shoot that kids are buying the c J
c J sneaker. C J cleet is on like number
three right now, Like that's what basketball players are doing that.
I ain't seen that since Randy Moss. So you know,
for me, I knew that this day was gonna come

(11:51):
right and I didn't. I didn't want it to come
this soon. But I had my my Instagram post in
the holster. If he came back or if he retired,
I was gonna give him one or the other. So
he retired and I put out my post to him,
and then this morning I'm texting him. I'm like, yo,
I know you're getting flooded with calls and request. I
was getting flooded with calls and request. So I was like, yo, man, um,

(12:13):
I need one thing. I said, I need to sit down.
If you don't get me that, sit down on a
punch in your throat. If I see you on any
other network talking to anybody else, friendship is on the rocks.
And I was like, you know, and aside from that, um,
I need you to come out to l A and
just you know, clear your mind, come kicking with your boy.
Because he flew all the receivers out to why when
you made the Pro Bowl. So I've always told him,

(12:33):
we're gonna do two or three days where I pay
for everything. You ain't gotta lift a finger, lift your wall.
Let me know, man, I want to be there at
jail for sure. So and then I was thinking, you
know what, let me call my guy. I'm gonna call
him because one I worked for them from network, so
I gotta be able to call him, and I gotta
be able to tell people, yeah, I talk to Calvin
this morning. I wouldn't want to be as folks and say,
oh I talked to Calvin, didn't really talk to him.

(12:53):
So I called him and my man picked up five
rings in. I'm like, what's popping? He was like, I'm chilling, man,
I'm good. I'm like, yo, I'm not even gonna ask
you why because he gave that statement that's the why
um he released to the public. I'm like, like, how's
your head? He's like, I'm straight, man, just about to
spend some time with the family. I asked Hi about
his family, asked me about minds, and then we started

(13:14):
talking about him traveling coming out to l A for
the for the sit down, the one on one interview
so I can sort of like encapsulate the career of
a living legend. And he was like, I'm with that, bro,
I'm with that. You know, I got you. You're the
man for the job. We're gonna get it done. And
I was like, all right, man, well I'm gonnaih at you.
And he was like, all right, broll led you later.
So it wasn't an in depth conversation because I wasn't

(13:37):
calling him as a journalist. I wasn't calling him to
dig deeper than what he gave us with his statement.
I was calling to listen to his voice and fill
his energy. And you know how we talked to ballplayers.
You can tell a lot by just saying what's good
with you, bro, And you can tell by their body
language how they talked, the inflection of their voice that
they're either upset or they're okay. And Calvin it was okay.

(13:58):
He was fine with it. Well, you talk a lot
about to wide receivers on this show, man, you talk
about Randy Mass, you talk about Calvin Johnson, which one,
in your eyes, is the greatest of our time. I know,
you know, obviously we we've seen Jerry right, So we
got live and all of that. The goat is kind
of you know, yeah, he on his own, but even
still we were in the league then, right, and you

(14:19):
know what I mean, talk about our time. Which one
of these guys in your mind is the greatest? Well, listen,
I got drafted the OH three. I was third round
draft pick. You know, one of those guys is gonna
play special teams, maybe third wide receiver, trying to climb
up the depth chart. My second year, I ended up
winning the spot next to Randy and I thought at

(14:39):
the time, Randy Moss is the best receiver I'll ever
see in my life. I would never play with another
receiver that has this type of skill set and could
do the things that he does. Now I got the
camera on me, so I want to explain one thing
I saw um one player I saw I practice. He's
being guarded by Anton Winfield, one of the best cornerbacks
in that era, right Twin was the Beast, and he's

(15:01):
in the red zone. So five yards in he runs
a favoritute to the left pyline, the left back Pieline
Twine is in perfect position. And then we're watching these
clips and you can see the way he catches the
ball and this story is about to basically pull all
that together. He runs a favor oute. He's at the
back pieline. Dante sees that the coverage is tight. He
rips the ball right those it at the back of

(15:23):
his helmet. Now, most receivers we turn our whole body.
We opened up our hips, and we exposed the ball
for the DVD. Knock it out, that's what we do.
He didn't even turn another way, which would have been
amazing if he would have did like this. If he
if he did like this, it caught it. That would
have been amazing, right because you know the type of
player that is. So anyways, he looks at the ball,
ball's humming, he tracks it and catches it over his shoulder.

(15:48):
It's it's it's it's the things that we see in
commercials where we know C G I S and ball
That's what he did on the field. And it was
almost like watching the N one mixtape and somebody doing
a crazy duck, like nobody really understood what we just saw.
It was like, what is going to just happen? And
then I remember Mike tics like that's why he does
He's the best receiver in the game. And it put

(16:10):
it all together for me. So I say all that
to say when I got to Detroit, Well, let's let's
see this up, Nick. Let's see this up Nick, because
you know you got in trouble, right, you know you
got in trouble because this happened. And what what year?
What year do you think this was. I'm gonna playing
up sound bite, but see it up for the people
you're you're talking about my step. See. All I gotta

(16:33):
say is you're the best of the business and it's
trying to keep quiet, stay political about but when it
comes to you in Moss, you got it broke. Oh Nate, Yes,
facts like listen, I just I just told you how
I looked at mosses and so and you're saying Calvin
is bigger than that. Listen, Moss is a wide receiver.
God he is for me. He's on the MA. Get that, Okay,

(16:56):
talk about cal Let me tell you why though. I'm
I'm I'm, I'm gonna give you some matchputes and I'm
gonna tell you speed. I'm gonna give the edge to
mass route running. I'm gonna give it to Calvin because
Calvin found his way in the slot. I was able
to do everything that Julian Edelman can do, and then
you can run routes like a big receiver. You know,
I'm saying, like Andrew Johnson when you talk about catching

(17:18):
the ball. They both got great hands. We've seen them
both do amazing stuff in these clips. Listen to what
I'm saying. Look at the catching. Now listen breaking the
answer the question I'm getting there. Listen. We've talked about
this before, so now listen. No, no, listen the race.
I'm telling you how it broke it down my racist
even so far right we're out running, catching, being able

(17:41):
to go deep highlights, they're all the same. Right for me,
that pretty much even you can give one guy edge.
I don't care how you wanna play it. But there's
two critical components to being a great wide receiver that
people don't talk about when we're watching highlights. That's blocking,
and Calvin Johnson is a superior, tremendous block are one

(18:02):
of the best in the game. I knew when I
was on the side and I was catching ball, I
was gonna score because he was that that dominant in blocking.
And then the last thing that really tips to scale
to Calvin is when you're popping these two highlight tips.
You're gonna see all these things that are the same.
But with Calvin, Like we're watching this clip, you'll see
way more broken tackles. You'll see him not run away

(18:22):
from guys, which he can do, which we've seen. We're
gonna see clips of him running through individuals, catching the
ball on eight yard line and dragging two guys to
the ends on. So if I'm taking two individuals and
I'm building my team, those last two things might tip
to scale to Calvin, Like, Man, I want Calvin on
my squad. It has nothing to do with I agree, man,

(18:43):
but I mean, that's just that's how I broke it down.
My Randy Moss on the team. Instant office, instant wins
the winds. That's facts. But you put Calvin on the team,
healthy Calvin Johnson, you're getting everything you're getting. A guy
can play outside, go over the middle, break tack was blocked.

(19:03):
He's doing it all quite as a church. I'm about
to do. Mess me up. And their primes and their primes.
We just saw Peyton go the other day. He just
retired Tom Brady, Peyton, Manning and their prime in their prime.
Oh man, that's a tough question because as a receiver,
I want numbers. Payton's gonna let that ball go. I
can get my stats up. As a player, I want

(19:25):
to be a winner. So if you're with Tom, you
know what you're gonna win. I might not necessarily have
the biggest numbers because it's a Will loyal machine. There's
gonna be three other guys are tight end, another receiver,
maybe running back, catch on the backfield, so my numbers
might not be great. So with all that said, I'm
going with Tom Brady just because I agree with you.
I think Tom like I just like how Tom commanded

(19:48):
the attention of not just the fans and the masses,
it was how he commanded the attention of his teammates,
Like when he talked like everybody's listening when he gets
ready for game. You see how intense he is when
he's running down the sideline yelling at the crowd like
that's my speed. Like I want a quarterback that is
overly passionate. I want a quarterback that I argue with,

(20:11):
that I get into it with, and then afterwards we
walked out the field and dap each other up and
go to dinner, like I want you to be that
passionate to where we're uncomfortable with being mediocre. I'm not
saying that Peyton Manning isn't that. I'm just saying what
I saw from Tom. That's the guy I want to
play with when it comes to numbers, being the receiver
and playing with Peyton. He's that dude, bro, So you
put both of them, I'm picking up. I'm picking I

(20:34):
went to I wrote with Tom. I like Tom's demeanor.
Tom looks like a guy that I would want to
play for. But I tell you one thing about Peyton
and just talking to guys that's that have played with Peyton,
he truly wasn't off as a coordinator on the field.
It one of the first quarterbacks you know, aside from
the guys back in the day, the Johnny United Is
and the Joe Namath where they just used to come

(20:55):
to the line of call the wrong plays. Peyton was
a guy you listen to quarterbacks between pay Eating and
Johnny United. You listen to the Phil sim As, you
listen to Um the flute Is. You just listen to
guys in between, and they didn't have the power that
the Johnny You and Joe Joe name have had. The
Peyton had. Peyton got an entire organization ready to compete. Peyton,

(21:16):
the backup ball boy, knew what was going on. He
was detailed. And one thing we're talking to teammates about Peyton.
If you're hot and you're one on one, he'll feed
you the ball every single play. If you'll have it team, Yeah,
like a video game, He'll continue to feed you the ball.
So Um, from a winning standpoint, From a demeanor standpoint,

(21:37):
I wrote with Tom, I love tom Um. It's all
about time for me. Is a guy I want to
play with. But I tell you one thing to Sheriff,
a couple of quick things before before you hit us
with his new btd Um Peyton, I heard about guys
that play with them, they said. When he's there in
the offensive meeting, Peyton runs a meeting. Coaches there, he
times in. He starts to meet and finishes the meeting.

(21:58):
But Peyton runs the meeting when it comes to the
X and os and making sure him his tight ends
is offensive line, his running backs, receivers are on the
same page. Peyton is running like a coach. That flipped
me out. That's a trip. But that's how I know that.
But Mike, you know that doesn't happen. I don't have it.
So I'm just saying I gotta tip my hat to
that now real quick. On Tom Brady. Last night, I

(22:20):
was with Julian Edelman, like we we kind of run
with the same circle. So we're at dinner at Noble
uh down in the Hollywood, and we're talking football, Like
I couldn't help it. I'm like, let's talk about Tom.
And he said that Tom is so competitive that if
he sees the backup quarterback Thurston quarterback scout team quarterback

(22:42):
getting busy throwing bombs, dropping dimes, he doesn't want to
get in here. He pulls them out and then goes
out there and drops dimes and starts talking trash. That's crazy, now, really,
Ridley was there. Ridley was there at dinner, right, and
he said, because he was in New York obviously, and
he said, you know, within the first week of practice,

(23:03):
I saw you know, drop balls, you know the chemistry
between new quarterbacks and new wide receivers. You've just seen that,
he said, But I've seen I saw more drop balls
in that week than I saw in the four years
I was a Patriot. How crazy is that? Now? I'm
sitting that dinner yesterday, like yo, and you know, I'm
soaking it up. I'm always a fan and these are champs.

(23:23):
These are guys that was part of the machine, the Patriots,
and I'm listening to these stories and they're talking about
belichicking out. He's just nasty when it comes to bringing
the most out of you and bringing the elements to you.
Talking about a cold day you outside know when they
gotta go in in negative degrees. He's putting water, cold
water on your hands, saying it's gonna be worsing that.
On game there are looping up the ball with with

(23:44):
silicone or oor baby powder to make it hard to
carry and then inflated to the point where it's tough
to hold onto and if it gets knocked out, he's
yelling at you. I'm sitting there listen to these stories
like that's the way football is supposed to be taught,
and I'm loving it. That was two legends I was kicking.
And we need to get them on the show. Matter mean,
why you're just sit invite them? You know they're working out, man,
they're doing their thing, but ted even and then they

(24:04):
get a beat. Um Yeah, uh about to go in
you're feeling the name well ah huh, because way you know,

(24:32):
you're beat right, your name high. I'm gonna keep your light.
You know it's your first day back. I don't want
you to get to the side. All right. So now
let's talk free agency because you are the gurgle when
it comes to this. You know for y'all that that
don't know, Mike is a beast when it comes to
these uh new athletes that hit the market are coming

(24:53):
from college. Uh so let's talk about athletes hitting the
market free agency. What stands out to you so far?
Oh man, oh man, you know what what's going on
up there in Philly with Basically they're saying, if you
got here with chips, you don't have a job anymore.
You're guys fire sale. That's exactly what it is. That

(25:14):
that's that party party and yeah, man, yeah, everything was
go and everything must go. That was really interesting. And
then to see a guy like le Um what is it,
ninety million, six years deal, six years, ninety million again
in four years if a team doesn't want him or whatever,

(25:36):
and this guy decides he doesn't want to play football
no more. That's got generational money That's what I'm talking about.
You know, I know again I'm gonna repeat myself. Fans
and get upset with me. But I get happy to
see young guys. UM do this these types of things, man,
but um going back to Philly. Talking about DeMarco Murray
going to Tennessee. Maxwell talked to Maxwell yesterday. He's happy

(25:59):
to be in Miami at a great conversation with Adam Gates.
Adam Gates another friend of mine. Um, they're not gonna
ask him to do what he cannot do if he's
not a man player. Dude, don't go play man Okay. Um,
I think they're gonna be I think it's gonna be
a good fit for Maxwell. Now you look at de
Marco Murray going to Tennessee. He goes from an offense
and Chip Kelly's offense shotgun run um scheme not really

(26:21):
really a good fit for him. But he's going to
Marcus Mariota in this offense. Marcus Mariota has wills, he
doesn't play in the center that much. Another shotgun offense,
and it just come on, de Marco, you might have
just should have stayed in Philly. I think the scheme
would have fit you. With UM coach Peterson going forward.

(26:43):
But when you walk around and again nobody's reported this,
but I know guys in the locker room when you
walk around and you talk about how you would love
to be in Dallas and how things are just different
here and you're this and you're that. Dude, eventually you're
not gonna have a job. I remember being a young
player in this league, Nate and I was with the
San Francisco Ford and nine. It is crazy. Mike Nolan's

(27:04):
in the building the day he drafted me, and I
remember going to Mike Nolan like, dude, man, why am
I not playing? You know, when He's like, well, we
got Frank Gore. I know what you're gonna do. And
I'm like, yeah, you're right, you gotta do something else.
But I remember complaining and Mike Nolan and my agent
told me at the time, dude, you have a job.
Shut up. I said, wow, that's all you said. Handle

(27:27):
getting cut hand or not having a job if it happens.
But right now, on this day, you have a job,
shut up and play ball. And I tell you you
don't really realize how important that is until you do
get that call and you do get cut, and you
don't know if the grass is gonna be green on
the other side now now talking about that, um not knowing.

(27:49):
You know, free agency is there's a lot of mystery
involved for a lot of individuals, they don't want to
go to free agency. There's a lot of guys like
you know what. They panicked like, man, I need to
sign year. I gotta ball out this contract year. I
hope they renew me, they can extand me before I
get to the market, because one they're scared to go
to a new system, and they're also scared to be
an undervalue right But for me, I hate the market

(28:13):
three times and I loved it. But that's my personality.
I love change right now. But I always thought kind
of I guess backwards and the fact that if I
hit the market at the very least, my value will
go up with the team I'm with. So when I
was a restrictive free agent in Minnesota, in Seattle came

(28:33):
and got me Minnesota, they started at like five million,
and I was like, oh, that's cool. Listen, listen, listen now,
listen now listen Mike to me. To me, five million
was crazy because I had a third round tender which
was seven hundred thousand. So I'm talking to my agent
because I didn't really understand the concept of restrictive free agency.
I'm like, so, I'm like, seven h let's get this

(28:54):
seven babe. He's like, Na, there's a team that's gonna
give up. You had a thousand yards. This is a
team is gonna give U throw around it for you. Okay,
all right. Seattle comes along and they can offer anything
past that. So it started like six and then Minnesota
was like, you know, we don't want to pay that much.
But then they saw that I was for real about
leaving because they thought, like most players, I wouldn't leave.

(29:15):
They started to battle back, and before you know what,
they got up to the contract with Seattle, and I
ended up signing my first big deal, which is four years,
fourteen million, and my mind was blown. They handed me
a check for four million dollars. This is when they
was giving those old school checks out. Uncle Sam took
a chunk. It was two point four, but it was
it was. It was still one of them things where

(29:35):
I'm like, wow, okay, if you if you hit the
market healthy, you get paid. Now, if you hit the
market and have a great year, before that, you're gonna
really break the back. And then I ended up doing
it again when I went to Detroit. So for me,
when I talk to these guys that are young and
are getting ready for the contract year, I tell him
a couple of things. Try to make as many places

(29:56):
as you can. But that's not the main concerned. Man concerned,
it's ending the season healthy, because you'd be surprised how
many guys take dollar hits because they're not physically able
to play during that offseason. So a team is not
going to invest in something that's broken. It's just like
buying a car. It doesn't have a will on it.
So I love free agency and you know I benefited

(30:18):
off it greatly. And as you can see, like we
just talked about, free agency is a big deal because
here's the thing. Team's got money and Mike and Mike,
they gotta pay what they gotta pay somebody, right, Yeah,
might as well. Bees. I wish it was me. I
tell you that much was a d line in these
days they're getting paid. You hit me. I'll tell you
one thing about free agency, man. The reason why guys

(30:40):
are scared to gold Nate. Just like you said, it's
it's the unknown. I know. For me, I have been
with San Francisco for four years. I didn't even know
if another team liked me. They can't talk to you again.
They don't know, You don't know, you know what your
situation is. But you start to think, Man, my kids
have to go somewhere. Kids have to find another school.
My wife has to find friends. You know what I mean.

(31:01):
She has to find her a little thing what she
wants to do. Um. Tax situations, you know what I mean,
moving situations, um uh. And I tell you one thing,
you talked about going in the free agency healthy I
I wanted to And I tell guys, uh, if you
win in ball games, you're gonna see this much. You
can see more money than you've ever seen in your life.
If you win in ball games, you're gonna win. I

(31:22):
remember talking to Maxwell two years ago, a year ago, Like, dude,
I know you're nervous about getting out there in that
free agency. But I tell you one thing. You've got
this Super Bowl ring. You're gonna get paid, so I
gonna get paid more, which is the point, get over paid.
That's the point. And let me let me tell you
this real quick before we move on to r G three.
My last year in Seattle. I knew I was gonna

(31:43):
be a free agent. I knew there was a change
at the Helm, so I didn't know the coach you're
gonna keep me, so me, I'm thinking like a businessman.
When I played against the team that I knew her
wide receiver needs, I tried to go out off and
then after the game, I'm tapping cats up. I may
see a coach on the staff, I know, because they
can't talk us about freecy. I'm like, is a you
know what time it is? You know I'm free to

(32:03):
I said that about seven times. You know, it's crazy.
One of the teams I said it to Simmon that
was Detroit. I'm saying, you just gotta be aware, man,
that's what it is. Hey, but listen, let's talk about
r G three. Man. I'm I'm a two my own
horn because occasionally, you know, I get things right. Not
a lot, but I do. And I said earlier in
the season that RG three will not play another down
in the Washington Risks uniform. People in Washington went crazy

(32:26):
like I was taking a shot at him. I wasn't saying.
I was saying, he's a fresh start, and the best
case for him is to play somewhere else. The question
for you is now that he's not a Washington riskin
we're r G three start at all this year at
any point? Or will he be a backup from here
on that? I think he's a backup right now, right now,
right now, he is a backup. I think, and and

(32:47):
and and obviously in his head he knows, you know,
he has to feel he's a starter in all of
those things. Um. But the thing about r G he
has to go to the right system. Man. Like people
talk about these quarterbacks like they can just go anywhere
and it's just gonna just gonna line up and everything's
gonna be fine. All of a sudden, he can see
the entire field instead of half the field. All of
a sudden, he's he knows how to protect himself now
when he runs. Oh, he's still gonna have those same issues. UM.

(33:11):
I hope this year humbled r G three a little bit.
I talked, I talked about that all the time, humbling yourself. Um,
such a teammates, see who you really are. UM. As
far as as far as a fit for him, he
needs to go to a place that has that zone running.
I like Denver zone running. I like I think he
could be up there if Brock doesn't Oswald doesn't work out. Um,

(33:33):
but he also has to be with a coordinator who's
gonna really use his gifts. Um. I can see him
in Buffalo as a back up. Both of those quarterbacks
could get you know, Tyrod as the starter, you could
be there. You need two of them. Now, start to
think about these quarterbacks that run around like running backs,
you know what I mean. You start to think of

(33:55):
these guys in tandems. But you have to have a
play caller that's gonna be able to relate to the
to the quarterback. You're saying just because the black quarterbacks
that gotta be in the tandem and run around the
field all the time. I mean, you black quarterback? What
does black? What does black got to do with anything
about being a tandem quarterback. I just want to get

(34:16):
you ride up at TD. You know I've been to
get going. But listener, I disagree. I think at some
point this year r G three will start and he's
going to prove that he is. Um. I said, right now,
he's a backup. Now, if somebody gets hurt, he will be.
I think you think he's going to start steal the
job wherever he's at. I think he's I think he's

(34:37):
I think he's done. He's done all the growth he's
need to as a professional, dealing with the media and
dealing with his teammates. And I also feel like he
can get smarter as a receiver. I saw to feel
better when I was in year eight. Now I know
it's different at quarterback, just live bullets. Once you get
hit and get hurt, you start hearing foot steps and
seeing ghosts. But I feel like this year off from

(34:58):
a physical standpoint, he's healthy year and then hopefully as
a professional, he took this year to really hit the
books and become more of a student has ever been.
And I feel like there will be a revival of
r G three and he's gonna recaptivate the fan base
like he did his rookie year. I think this this
kid can't be given anything. He asked to earn everything.

(35:19):
I think all through his career he's been giving stuff.
And the minute he hit some adversity, Kirk Cousins or
your coaching change or knew that many of you had
some adversity, And now all of a sudden, you go
to you know what I mean, I need to see
this guy take take it straight on. I feel I
can dig that man. Well, Mike, obviously it's good to
have you back in the studio. The show is better
when you hear in studio pumped up. We got R

(35:41):
and B later on on t A. So this is
what they need to do. And I hope, I hope
our our bosses are listening. If they just make R
and B a show, we can just up our pay
a little bit and move us out here. Will be
on every single day that you don't do it. You
know what I'm saying, And it might not want that.
Just like we talked about, you don't want us to
go to free agency bosses out here. Man, make sure

(36:05):
y'all reach out to us. Tweet us man hit up

(36:28):
the new anthem. All right, I said, Mike, check one

(36:51):
to one to you now rocking with the best. This
is what we do. Kids to move, watch, snick around
for a few It's like robbing. Need be new that

Twenty years of blood, sweat and hears in this league
