Speaker 1 (00:04):
All right, here we are for a special pod, a
cam pod, a cam with cam because of cam pod
on off the Edge, I'm your host cam and I
mean today we normally talk about you know who we're
going to bring on or things around the league, and
we'll get to that. But I'm taking this because it's
(00:24):
my part and I do what I want. No, I'm
just kidding, but we are going to talk about my announcement.
How I'm playing until the year fifteen. How maybe it
came about in like the last seven two hours. It
became like a whirlstorm. You know, I was traveling and
enjoying the off season, et cetera. Knew that you know,
league started, a league year was coming up. Things had
(00:45):
to switch around, change, there's guys, we paid guys, contracts,
me to be restructure, revised, whatever it was. And I
silmore fell in between all that, you know, landed on
a Sunday from Germany visiting my visiting my sister who
live out there with her husband and my two nieces.
And yeah, I got a deal done by Wednesday. It
(01:06):
was crazy how that thing came through.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
But we'll get to it. We'll also talk about.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
You know, a free agency around the league and what
that looks like, and yeah, stick with me, which brings us.
While we're in Germany, my agent calls me. Uh Friday
was like, hey, you know, we sort of got to
get something done. I got to check around the league.
If you want to go somewhere. I was like, go somewhere. Look,
I was like, if I have to go, I will go.
(01:34):
And you know, ranted a little bit. I was like,
look like, you know, I'm still in the contract. This
is you know, this is where I should be. My
contract says, you know, I got another year on it,
so unless they cut me out, I'm not leaving or
I'm not taking a pay reduction. And I was like,
you know, after talking about it, I'm like, look, I
want to win. And at the end of the day,
(01:55):
do I really want to go somewhere for the next
two years, next three years?
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Maybe just this.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Year, you know, like year fifteen, year sixteen, years, seventeen.
I know, after year seventeen, i'd be fully done. I
got three years at tops, like you know, coleass Campbell
probably a year seventeen. Think about year eighteen. I'm like,
I'm looking at it. I'm like, huh, salute to him.
Seventeen seems like a long ways away. We're gonna take
this year by year. So fifteen, let's figure this out.
(02:22):
I know it's you know, where do you where would
you see yourself going? I was like, well, nowhere cold.
I refused to go to Cleveland. Cleveland called. I won't answer,
and I'm sure they're gonna say we never called good,
good God, I can't do it. One game in Cleveland
told me I'm not cut out for the snow negative
thirty degrees, twenty eight degrees whatever that was with my shield. No,
I'm still I'm still scarred mentally, physically, emotionally. It was
(02:44):
over there looking like like ace off of paid the full.
I'm breathing different, I'm moving different.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Hated here, But.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
When you think about, you know, the team's available, it's like,
oh yeah, I was so leave.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
What is it worth it? Family loves it here.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
The community work that I do here has been detrimental.
It's a part of me. It's such a big part
of me to walk around in New Orleans and know
that you're you're showing love here, to have the cam
Jordan Foundation take off the way did this last year.
You know, after we change from God is love, foundation.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
To be, to be, have been in this community for the.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
Last eight nine years. We're talking about a reduction in salary.
I'm like, man, all right, figure it out, but like,
don't take too much. So let me let me, let
me fight some back. And so you know, the contract
is what it is. I mean, you can get the numbers,
but you'll figure that out online somewhere. I'm not just
gonna give it to you. But at the end of
the day, this is where I want to be. I
(03:40):
want I've always said I want to win a Super
Bowl in the Black and Gold. So if it ain't
all in to the black and Gold, maybe it's not
for me. And you got to realize there's guys that
go to different teams and try and win one, you know,
go go join up with the super Team and think
they're gonna win one and don't. And I feel like
all the old g's that I talked to, you know,
from Justin Tuck back in the day when he went
(04:02):
over to the Raiders. I mean, I probably I don't
know if I got privy to say this, but he
was like, you know, like maybe I was like I
wish I would have stayed with the Giants. You talk
about you know, Lamar Woodley from everybody else that you
see leave and don't.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Win a Super Bowl. You're like, well, what's her point?
Speaker 1 (04:18):
You know, think about looking at Jerry Rice from the
Niners and then on another team, you just sort of
look at it. You're like, huh, Big Woods in the
safety Hall of Famer Robods and you're just like a
different jersey, is it? I look at shoot, I just.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Look at it. Even young guys when they leave.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
You think about Noam day Asena go from Oakley Raiders
to you know Setle not yeah, the Philadelphia.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Not the same nam D.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
You know. So luckily it's uh, you're fifteen from me
with the Saints, and we'll see what this ghals. You know.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
I love it for me. I really love it for me.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Up, Uh, picking back up Chase Young, who's a who's
a hell of a hell of a athlete. When we
talk about you know, look the part six six yoked up,
you know, with the with the temperament where he wants
to be better and you I mean, I'll just I'm
just saying watch the tape.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
He pops up frequently.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
I mean, if you looked at years prior to the
way he was playing this year, That for it is
is clearly ascending. You know, you always want more, you know,
you see, I think he's top ten pressures in the
league this last year. And I mean just think of
those pressures turn into sacks. How much farther would he
have been? So there's a reason why you know, there
(05:39):
there's a plan. You bring in our new defensive defensive staff.
I mean, if you talk about UH, I think it's
a solid pickup. We pick up Brandon Staley, who's de
coordner was a former head coach UH and the and
the defense that he brings in. I mean, you saw
how much success Khalil Mack had off the edge under him.
Of course, Joey Bosa when he was at the Chargers.
(06:01):
UH and I and beyond that, you know, the DC
guys they're putting that scheme together. You see, he's like, hey,
I want to utilize our players and what they're good at.
And you'd love to hear that. You love to hear,
and you know that he's got nothing but love for
the D line. Of course, you bring in Bo Davis
from LSU UH and I mean, first of all, I've
seen some of the rants on YouTube like he's going
(06:22):
after cats.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
I'm like, oh, no, fire Brimstone coach.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Okay, that's an interior D line coach if I've ever
seen one. And then from there you know, uh, he's
so he's an interior D line coach. LSU was upset like,
how could you take our coach because we needed them
more than you get, were trying to win the Super Bowl. Uh.
And we bring in Jay Rogers off the edges, I
mean he comes from that with that Vic Fangio Tree,
(06:47):
so as dealing with the edges, talking to him, talking
to Daley really led to help me with my decision
as well. Just talking to them while I was in
Africa again, while I was in Germany, right when I landed,
you know, Monday, and then Tuesday we figure something out.
I think Wednesday we signed the deal whatever, whatever that
timeline is. Uh, the confidence in there, you know, we
extend chasing. I'm like, you know what, that's that's great
(07:09):
for our tea. There's young young blood in there. You
got Isaiah Fosky, Chase, young Carl Granderson, the young guns.
We're probably still gonna draft the end. Let's just be real.
We draft end every other year. It's been about two years,
so someone us that time for the Saints. No matter
what we need, we gon draft us an end. And
I said that because you know, I'm always pushing Let's
(07:31):
get us another dog at the interior D line. But
that's just it. We go get Davon Godchild, pure nose, runstopper,
team him up with Colin Saunders. You know, now you've
got Brian Brazi at the three shep that can switch boat,
you know, three end and the nose. You got Devon
Goshall and Colin Saunders, who we know can get swifty
(07:54):
in the interior. Man, I'm just like I've said I
said on Twitter.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
I was like, yo, it's a.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
D line starting to get stacked, and everybody was like, oh,
you don't know what Fosky can do.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
You're right, he's year two, last year, he's coming to
the year three. He's gonna get some opportunities. Now we'll know.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
And just like you know, I'm not saying, just like
how Trey Henderson had to wait his turn, but he
had to wait his turn, and now Trey Henderson should
be one of the highest paid defensive ends in the
next couple of weeks.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
The guy who's had thirty five sacks in the last
two years. So don't write somebody's story. Think about it.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
What Zach Bond dead, He goes over to Philadelphia, he
balls out, he shoot, I mean last year he was
at the Saints.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
He started bawling out towards the end.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
Got him a little one year proven and he proved
it all pro Zac Bond, you know, you see guys
do it all the time.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
Malcolm Jenkins was a forever pro for the Saints.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
Leaves, you know, leaves the Saints, goes to Philadelphia, not
only when Super Bowl, but becomes a Pro Bowl caliber player.
So like, let's just relax on being able to call
somebody a bus or whatever it is. Let him get
some time, y'all start to call Nola Smith the bus.
This last you know his after his first year, year three,
he was a Super Bowl Just relax. There's players that
(09:08):
need to develop. It's okay not to be a home
run hit off off the gates. It's hard to do,
but you can develop. You become a costly pro. You
can make yourself with the hard work, effort and the
ability to be special. You don't have to worry about
all that, you know, so like, let's just give our
times to grow. You're talking about you know, we got
a young pup, Christian.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
Boyd give him some time to grow. You're one, Okay,
you're two, let's grow. We'll see what he is. You're two,
you're three, year four, it'll go from there. But I'm excited.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
I mean, of course, Brian Young comes back, and you know,
he did a hell of a job taken over from
I almost said, BUMMDA data guy. Guy that was was
a former d decordinator with extras andos guy.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
You know.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
Jack Oh, just the guy with the pen and somehow
in the ability to put a pass rush playing together. Anyways,
glad we've moved on from that. So b Y took
over at the end of the year, and I mean
(10:17):
man brought some fresh air to the defense. I think
the first game he really took over, we played Washington,
the D line had like eight sacks, seven eight tea
maybe the team had eight. We had six to.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
Seven out of those. So love to see where that progresses.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
I mean, if we can get back to some early
twenty twenty four first two game productivity, Washington will retake
him to the wire and Washington is clearly a high
caliber team right now. It just went deep into the playoffs.
We took them to the wire. Could have been, could
have beat him, try to go for the two for
the win.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
You know.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
So just know that our defense is rolling. Guys like Tomorrow, Davis, Tyre, Matthew.
We add in Justin Reid, We bring in, you know,
we bring in guys that I think can help. We
bring in a tight end. We bring in, I mean,
we extend. Juwan Johnson shout out to my dogs. Juwan Johnson.
I'm gonna have to have him on the pod. You know,
he's he's him and his wife got a social media
(11:11):
page Jewish shan Uh, Yeah, I want to. I'ma let
y'all follow I'm sure they've got a million followers on
TikTok or whatever that is.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
I'm I just started my TikTok journey. But we won't
talk about it. You know.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
This is just this as a time where I'm excited
about our team, and I feel like every offseason I
get more excited about being on our team. I look
at our roster and I say, Chris o'live, I said,
what she she eat?
Speaker 2 (11:34):
All right?
Speaker 1 (11:34):
Derek Carr comes back. You know, uh, you got Specier
Ratler behind him, and he showed some promise, some gum shit.
But that's okay. It's okay to develop young players. And
I'm probably gonna keep saying it, it's okay. Look what
Jordan Loved did, sat on the bench for three years,
take three four years, takes over, shows some special they extend,
take them to the playoffs. You know what I'm saying, Like,
(11:54):
it's okay to develop young players. You don't just have
to be like we dropped him the first round, so
he has to produce. Now, you know, it's okay. I
almost imna keep saying it. It's okay to be okay.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
Now for us missing the playoffs four years in a row,
it's not okay. But there's a.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Reason why we're pivoting head coach defense coaches, and if
it doesn't shake out, they're probably gonna.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
Pivot for more players after this year.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
It's okay to be okay, but it's not okay not
to succeed, and that's what we're trying to do. We're
trying to succeed as the Saints. So in my mind,
we've got a lot of talent and if you start
looking around the league where you're seeing a lot of
young talent get paid and maybe not see the productivity
that you'd want to see from the guys that are
getting those high dollars. I mean, there's some names I
had to look up. I was like, I don't know
who that is. Okay, but it's okay. He showed potential,
(12:43):
and I love it. When you're twenty three, twenty four
years old, twenty five years old, you get paid off potential.
At twenty nine, you get paid for what you have
you done for me? And what can you do for
my team? At thirty three you get paid for Hey,
this better be a hell of a year. And at
thirty five you get paid say hey, we know what
you can do. We're gonna put.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
You in the arsenal because we need that sharp blade,
we know that thing cutting.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
Maybe I'm just talking about for myself and Cam Heyward,
you know, the last of the two thousand eleven draft
class that's still with their respective.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
Teams, so just the camps.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
But I think that there's there's ability and the possibility
that you can have the probability of going to the
super Bowl with this team. And that's what every team wants,
they want, they want the possibility. All you need is
a take it to the dance, you get to the playoffs,
and is any any given Sunday for real?
Speaker 2 (13:36):
For real?
Speaker 1 (13:38):
But yeah, I mean when I'm when I'm looking around,
I guess I got so excited. I think about what
the possibility is, what we can be this year. And
that's why I don't think retirement ever came into my mind.
If anything, I was like, you know, I think earlier
this year, I was like a soldier. The social doesn't
get to decide where he's where he fights at. Is
(13:59):
it anywhere, anytime, any place situation. I've been a soldier
in a warrior my whole life, So I don't know
how not to be. I know, I bring my hands
to work every day and I'm trying to put my
hands on office of lineman or tight end and specifically
on a running back end a quarterback. I'm trying to
do a couple more of them. That's sitting at one
hundred and twenty one and a half sacks, over probably
over one hundred and fifty TFLs, easily over sixty five
(14:22):
pass eflections, and one hundred and sixty like I need
I need about I'm a gun for one hundred and
thirty sackses. You know, at the end of this year,
I'm a gun for ten past eflections. You know it.
Give me some in that seventy five range.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
I just want it all.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
You know, a couple Forest fumbles here there would be nice.
I want it all, and I'm gonna get I'm gonna
teach everybody around me all that I know, just like
I have every year before here. Come take whatever acknowledge
I got because I got more to give, because hey,
don't by the way, why I'm offering you how to
beat this block, how to shed this lineman, how to
get to this quarterback. I'm watching how you do it,
(15:02):
and I'm not saying I'm one hundred percent the right way.
I'm just saying this is how I've had success. So
if you want to have some success like I have,
come get it. But also if you've had success or
maybe I like what you're doing on the edge, I
much steal some of that too, because that's just where
I'm at now. I look at you know, head coach
Keller Moore, the Super Bowl that he just won, being
a oc uh and you know him being outstanding quarterback
(15:26):
over at Boise State. So he's been in a leadership position,
you know, for his offense his whole life.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
Now is he a born leader? I don't know. We'll
figure that one out.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
It's a different different being from being a quarterback or
oc to be in the head coach buck stops here
type of guy. We shall definitely see. But I'm excited
again every facet of what the Saints have going for him,
including Miss Gail Benson. I mean, just a great Uh
what is a basketball called? They're they're not. They don't
call him owners. They almost call them partners at this point.
(15:59):
But uh, what that part, you know, the fact that
she she's in charge of the Saints and the Pelicans,
as she cares about players individually, top down, it's it's
it's top tier.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
So whatever whatever I think.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
Going forward, just know I'm thinking black and gold, LAWD
to the Super Bowl. Stay tuned. We'll be right back.
So so let me get off, you know, let me
get off the Saints. And I mean I'm sort of
gandered around the you know, the league, but have I
really have? I said, shout out to Miles Garrett for
(16:34):
that forty million dollars a year contract. What a time
to be an edge, you know, shout out to Max
Crosby at thirty five change a year, ninety one guaranteed, Lord.
And also it's it's great when your.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
Team loves you.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
You know, and they want to make you the highest
paid at your position and they want you to have success.
They love to see it. Get your money, man, you know,
it's got to be easy. Top two signings. What they're
gonna do with Jamar Chase, Lord, they should have paid
him a year and change ago. What they're gonna do
with Michael Parsons, Lord, should have paid him a year
and change ago. I mean, there's there's no point in
(17:13):
not paying these young players. A cat keep going up,
the ballers keep balling out the ones that have earned
it each and every year, like Michael Parsons has been
double digit sacks each and every year. There's some guys
that got paid that will never be double digit sacks.
We'll never have a chance to be a double digit
sack guy. Well at their best, just maybe a really
good player, and that's okay, But a guy like Michael Parsons'
(17:34):
generational you have to pay him as such, and he knows.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
It, paying what he's worth, pay him for services rendered.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
Now, you know, you see guys like you know, uh,
the quarterback justin go Over get paid a two for
forty ball over at the Jets. I mean, I don't
I don't like it. I love it for the young man.
Now he'll give it, got to go get it. Like
(18:01):
you know, he sat behind uh, he sat behind Russell
this last year at the Steelers, and now he's getting
a chance to prove that he's really that guy.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
The question is.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
Will he to be able to take over now? You know,
like it's the potential and they're paying for his potential.
I think that you see Sam Darnold go off to Seattle.
You see Gino Smith go to the Raiders.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
What a move.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
I see what you did there, Pete Carroll, you wo
to go get your guy? You know, I think that
there's so many there's so many guys at this point
in time. I just love watching the ticker the last
couple of days, right like, oh he pinged, Oh he
got paid. Oh he's gonna where you know, when you
when you think about what Aaron glennover the Jets is
as a as a player, as a coach, at Detroit
(18:48):
and now as the head coach at the Jets. You
you know it's gonna be on like a Dan Campbell trajectory. Like, Okay,
nobody's gonna talk about a year one, but year two
he may be on something. And year three, you know
he's gonna find success. He's going to get the right
guys in plays, do.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
The right things. I mean he started, he started, you.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
Know, creating a team of guys for coaching staff that
have either played or he knows is trustworthy. And with
that you can build a lot off that. So I mean,
as much as as much as life is, you know,
they still, like everybody's gonna talk about Jets and other
lost Aaron Rodgers or you know whatever that is. You
still got Quittin Williams. He's still got Thomas Hennessey, it's
(19:29):
long snapper. I don't know why I know that name.
It's because his name was Hennessy. But I mean you
still got you still got major players from Sauce to
Alan Lazard. I mean, Quincy Williams had a hell of
a year last year.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
That might be exciting too.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
I don't know why I'm talking about the Jets now,
but just looking at you know, their new quarterback and
of course the new head coach who I had the
chance to work with what at the Saint So I'm
excited for them as well, unless they have to play us,
and then I love us more.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
Of course.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
You know, I'm I'm I'm looking at the NFC South
and I'm like, this division is wide o, but it's
time to go break in. So for me in mine
while looking around the league while talking about the Saints,
to probably be talking about the Saints more than I
ever have because I always want to talk about him,
and I try my best not to.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
It's black and gold nine forever.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
It's levels to this. Were gonna keep stacking for the
whole year. This will come a year we're gonna go
after one hundred and twenty five sacks. We're gonna go
out one hundred and thirty sacks, and then we'll talk
about it. So till then, I appreciate y'all for tapping
