Speaker 1 (00:05):
Hey is Cam Jordan. Welcome off the Edge with me,
your host, Cam Jordan.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Don't worry about me.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
I'm just promoting my own clothing line because I felt
like I was bored this season somewhere in here. Losing
has either way. Let's talk about, you know, a lot
of things today. We've got We've got a myriad of
topics that I'm gonna cover and I'm just gonna say,
I'm gonna get there.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
But what I want to do is introduce my guests.
A guy who have a.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
Tremendis of respect for from the way he played in
college to where he entered the league as a top
five pick of the twenty eleven draft class.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Came in immediately, was a return specialist, ear in the
Pro Bowl honors there, then went on.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
For like, let's call it eight Pro Bowls, you know,
three All Pros. A man who's a part of the
NFL twenty tens All Decade Team again, top five pick
at number five from LSU.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Patrick Peterson, Pat P Man.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
I appreciate that intro.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
You know it was light because you know your accolades
are heavy, right, you know what I'm saying, Like, what
haven't you done?
Speaker 2 (01:06):
You know, like you coming out of LSU, Like, how
was that experience?
Speaker 3 (01:10):
Man? That was.
Speaker 4 (01:12):
The best time of my life. Man, being in Baton Rouge,
being in Louisiana, Louisiana, embracing the love and the hospitality
that the people in Baton Rudge showed me. He made
me feel like one of their own. And I still
go back there to this day to at least try
to catch a game, uh, train work, try to work
out with the guys. But met my wife there, you
(01:35):
know what I mean. And that's that's a that's a
key right there. So that's a very big key, you
know what I mean. So, man, LSU is always have
a very very close place in my heart.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Yeah, I mean the college atmosphere, been to death Valley.
My son is nine and he swears he's going LSU.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
I took him.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
I messed up and took him to the LSU Alabama
game for his first l U game, like two years.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
Ago, going absolutely when we wanted overtime. Yeah, it was.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Like we were already in the car headed back.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
But like you know, like when you got kids, so
like you know, when they get tired, it's no longer fun.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
So yeah, we were It was overtime and then he
woke up like I'm going L s U.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
That's good for you, bud, Like I guess you could
stop reading now if you want to go to s U.
You know the SEC in general, we have higher standards.
Dad with the Brown I went to col. I didn't
foresee L s U in his future. Like if you
have say, he said, you know you and you would
have said Harvard U, s c U c l A,
you know, maybe even Miami Great Business School, Michigan Great
(02:37):
Alumni Association.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
I didn't see, you know, not not Vanderbilt.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Wow. I do want them to have some fun, you know,
like I wanted to.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
I thought we was making businesses. We were.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
We were hints and hints.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Why it was the Michigan's because great, great school and
also decent football at times especially they just you know
the one that.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
They might as well throw in Texas Dan School, is it? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Yeah, I'm I'm gonna have to check that out all
my Texas guys. And I got love for my Texas guys.
You've never been like, wow, he's just.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
One of the Yeah you know, I know where you're
coming from.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
Okay, yeah, all my uls, you guys, you guys are decent,
like the decent ass and what people like, you know,
in terms of smarts, like you know, like when we
came out. You know, I have my dog Drake Nevis.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Oh yeah, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
But he's straight from the swamps.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
Now, Drake, what you say? Dog and big dog running
back like you know, So that's what I say. Okay,
we've got my kids already knew on his baby, so
we have to go to the west toast, Like.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Because how many kids do you have?
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Four?
Speaker 3 (03:42):
Four?
Speaker 2 (03:42):
Four?
Speaker 3 (03:43):
And how many boys? One?
Speaker 1 (03:44):
I only got one shot of this. That's what I
don't have this room for error, you know, Like you
got two boys, right, oh, I got two girls.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
I have no boys.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Yeah, football is not in your future anyway, though flag
is coming up, they would not be in that no
flag Okay, okay, too shy, get away from the kids
to talk about us. Look, you're a free agent now, bro, Like,
what is what is that like? Covering that space while
season is going? You've never been in a season where
as a.
Speaker 4 (04:10):
Free agent man, you know, it's it's it's different. But
at the same time, I'm enjoying it because I feel
like time this time is going to come at some point.
Like my career had an expiration date on it. I
just didn't know when it was going to come. So
like for me, that's why I was always really wanting
to enjoy every moment, just because you don't know when
(04:33):
it's going to come to an end. So like now,
taking my girls to school each and every day, you know,
doing podcasts, working out here and there, playing golf. You know,
my mind is still in it, not really getting any
phone calls. But if that call does happen towards you know,
the end of the year or in the playoffs, I'd
be more than happy to give a team whatever I
(04:55):
have left in the tank.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
Earlier in the season, did you get did you get
a call there.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
Or did you Yeah, we had a couple of calls,
but it was more like, you know, practice squad type stuff,
like and I'm not coming there.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
I'm not in that mental space to handle a practice
squad roun.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
I'm like, I'm twenty ten all decade team, Right, what
are we talking about?
Speaker 1 (05:13):
If you do get the call late in the season,
you know, is there any of the former teams that
you would like to.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
Go back to.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Pittsburgh? I mean Honestly, all three of my former teams,
you know.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
All of them red wave that thing.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Yeah, see they gotta, yeah, they gotta. They got.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
All three of my teams that I played for have
a pretty good shot of making the playoffs, you know
what I mean. So at this stage of my career,
that's what I want to have opportunity to play for,
right is, you know, get into the playoffs because once
you get in the playoff, everything the season starting over
and everybody got a shot that's in the playoffs. So
that's all I'm looking for. If that happens to happen.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
I'll say, look, I want to super Bowl bad, yeah, man,
but I wouldn't mind it be in black and gold
or nothing.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
It is different when you when you won a super
Bowl with the team that draft year.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
Right, It just it just hits it a little different.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
All in.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
Yeah, I'm all in.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
Yeah, don't make me get out.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
I'm all in. You know exactly, Man, how much long
do you think you got?
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Man? My body feels good.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
And I've always said I tap it with myself, and
I was just said, like I tapped in probably the
year before, and I was like, I got at least
two more in me. Yeah, after you know, year thirteen
or during year thirteen. I was like, I got least
two more after this one. And I'm running around, playing around.
I'm like, you know, whatever it is, I'm about to
stack the fastest. I'm yelling at the young kids. Hey man,
(06:37):
you should be beating me out the stack. Hey, we're
thirty yards down, Like you should be here. You know
what conditioning was. I'm like, you know, like, whatever it is,
you should be here. Like I'm teaching guys my technique.
I'm giving everything to them, and I'm at the same
time like I'm like, bro, this is embarrassing for you.
You should beating me up here exactly. You know.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Like so until I feel.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
That that decline, then I don't really have to address it.
Now the politics and play or whatever the role that
they seeing for me, that's a whole different story that
that'll piss me off faster than you know, the body
not being able to do what it wants to do.
But you know, like different seasons throughout your career you
feel different ways. Like early in my career, I remember
like not feeling good till Thursdays, you know, and then
(07:16):
it's like all right, well, I got to switch up
how I'm taking care of my body.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
Oh, I'm not taking care of my body. I didn't
get into the hot tub to year ten. Yeah, you know, liken't.
I don't do caffeine or coffee. So for me, I
was like all right. Once I started taking care of
my body, I was like, oh, I'm back by Tuesday.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
I'm back by Wednesday. Right, And so now it's just like,
all right, how long? How much longer can I do
with these meetings? The mental drain of these meetings.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
That's the biggest thing for me. Like, I'm just like you,
like I feel my body feels great, never had no
significant injury while I've been playing, and like just mentally
being in the game, being around the game, you kind
of knew what to expect. So to your point, I'm
in practice running around having fun like I'm in year three,
(07:58):
but I'm in year thirteen, have young guys coming up
to me all the time like how the hell you
got You have more energy than us, right, I'm like, bro,
that's just the joy that this game gives me. And
I just want to continue showing you guys that, because,
like I talked about earlier, you just never know when
this game is going to be taken away from you man.
And the things that stick sticks with us the most
(08:18):
is the conversations that we have in the locker room,
the moments and the memories that we create at practice
training camp. Those are things that I missed. The meetings, Yeah,
that's for the birds. I enjoy game planning, but the meetings,
the long, drawn out two.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
And a half hours.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
It's like, we covered this four times already in this
exact same meeting. But wait, but then you have a
player go out and mess that out and you'll be like, like,
and it's not like mess up on some intricate stuff,
like you know, you're trying to like disguise things and
have to drop back into like a solo here in
the cover somewhere else. No, like hey, Cover two that
(08:57):
you've been playing since you were eight, and like brother,
you have brother.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
But like you said, we just went over this for
four hours and you come out here.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
We did it and walk through, we watched it, and
now we come out here and do a full speed.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
And oh, by the way, we installed this three weeks right,
so like you should it's not something new now if
it's something new, but like, yeah, I.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
Don't get you from Tom Yeah, man, I'm with you though.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
All right, So out of your former teams, right, which
would be more conducive to where you're at in your
career now? You know, like clearly we know that, you know,
the Vikings have had a couple of head coach changes.
You know, the Cardinals same, so it's not the same regime.
And of course you know, Steelers probably bring the most
consistent level, but what is what would that look like?
Speaker 4 (09:41):
Oh man, just just being with in Pittsburgh, you had
an opportunity to really understand the history behind why they
win so much, why they are a physical football team,
and things like that. Then obviously have an opportunity to
be with Kevin O'Connell and Mike Zimmerman, being there in
(10:05):
the atmosphere, being there in Minnesota, it was something that
was almost felt like a college atmosphere, just the energy
that they brought to the stadium, meeting every day. And
then getting drafted to Arizona, one of the oldest franchises
in the NFL. It was very unique because obviously Arizona
(10:26):
wasn't used to winning. They just came off of Super
Bowl appearance in two thousand and nine, if I'm not mistaken.
So there was kind of like on that verge of
trying to get things in the right direction.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
So and still took us a while to get there.
Speaker 4 (10:41):
But when we got this coach by the name of
Bruce Arians, that's kind of when everything took a turn
for the better.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
Man. He was one of those guys that he.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
Was just like a hard nose coach that loved hard
and loved on his players strong, you know what I mean.
I couldn't do nothing but respect that because he we knew,
we knew what we was going to get from him,
and he knew how to get the best out of us,
you know. So a quick funny story about Bruce Arians.
(11:12):
One time his first year, he had some some black
long socks on, but he used to always wear white ones.
It was like, damn, coach, while you got these black
long socks on, say I'm getting dressed for a funeral
because of the receivers about to kill y'all asses today.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
Law.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
Yeah, So that was his message.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
They knew, I knew they'd catch on right.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
So it was just things like that.
Speaker 4 (11:37):
How he was just able to motivate players and get
the best out of us. So you know, I had
had a fun time with you know, all three teams
that have had an opportunity to play with.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
I mean shooting Mike Thomas never had a losing season, right,
he don't even know what defeat looks like exactly.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
And the thing about Tom coach Tomlin is man, he
loves football so much, like like he love the game
like we Bruce Aaron's was a great head coach of mine,
Todd Bows a great defensive a coordinator of mine. But
I never seen a guy who like literally eat, sleep,
(12:17):
breathe football.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
And every aspect of it.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
Like everybody think that coach, well not everybody think everybody, No, no,
coach Timlin as a defensive minded coach, but you would
you would not think that when when he's in his
team meetings because he's so sharp on the office side
of the ball, so sharp on the defensive side of
the ball, sharp on a special team. She does a
great job of outlining what it takes to win ball
(12:42):
games each and every week, and guys really buy into that.
And it's just really special to see him, you know,
be him, be himself each and every day and watch
the guys follow his.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
Sleep look you know better than me.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
I remember, I remember before we got drafted, right, those
are those team visits. I remember flying up to Pittsburgh
and I was like, please, Lord, don't let me come here.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
It's cold.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
It's cold, and it is always.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
Told man frozen, and downtown closes like six pm. I'm like,
what is this? Are we in an industrial revolution?
Speaker 1 (13:16):
Like?
Speaker 3 (13:16):
What are we doing here? Basically?
Speaker 1 (13:19):
Basically, I remember sitting sitting in front of coach Tomlin.
It was like me and it was I think it
was like a receipt corner, the corner out of Colorado.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
Was that Jimmy Oh yeah, Jimmy Smith. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
And I was sitting there. I was like, hey man,
I got so you're gonna like him? You don't like him?
I think I told him.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
I was like, I was like, hey man, my best
friend at the time, childhood friend, Leslie, she had a
major crush on you.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
I was like me, I can't do cold. He's like,
you'll killed just to it. I won't.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
I was like, man, but I look up to you,
you know, as a man doing as a black man.
You know, you have the coaching league. You're awesome.
Speaker 2 (13:56):
I'm not your guy.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (13:57):
That that that cold. That NFC AFC North weather plan
outside that is different.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
Well, my only last night.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
My only prayer before we got drafted was Lord, don't
send me anywhere cold.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
I will go where you tell me to go.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
Lord, don't send me now, please.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
I told my agent, Hey, Man, I was like, if
I'm a top fifteen pick, not going anywhere cold. It's
like you're top fifty. I'm not going anywhere cold. ELI
and I would had ELI status. Eli was going number one.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
I'm like number twenty. No, no, no, no, don't do this
to me.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Yeah, let's talk about the Steelers just because you know,
like you said that, you set it up. And I'm
always interested to hear about locker room setups, right because
you you look at the Steelers and they've always had
consummate pros, They've always had elite veterans. What is that
locker room? Like, in my mind, there's no fun because TJ.
TJ is a WAT and like that doesn't scream like
oh a ton of fun energy. That screams business as usual.
(14:52):
You know, Cam Hayward is probably your colorful personality and
it's Cam, so you know, very pc more some times
than not.
Speaker 4 (15:00):
Man, the locker room is very loose man, really very
very loose. Cam is like you said, he's the colorful personality. Jokester, Yeah,
just a jokester man. Love playing like little games. I
remember every time and it's the first time I ever
saw it. Every time he came off the field after walkthrough,
they was always playing something. But it was like this
(15:22):
little game. I think it was called five seconds freaking
Connect four And it was always this black, little fold
up table, just a little Walmart table with some chairs
around it, and that's just where we always linked up
after walkthroughs. And it was like a thing, you know, guys,
you know, telling you, yeah, telling. Joe's got music playing
(15:42):
in the background. And the thing I really really enjoyed
about Pittsburgh is how original everything is. They don't give
a damn about none of that state of the art stuff.
We're gonna have old school hot to, old school code tubs,
locker rooms are still wooden, old.
Speaker 1 (15:59):
School hot tub yeah, yeah, I don't believe in koltos,
but no, no like hot to. Yeah, I need I
need a hot to like they got still got the
steel base and like running.
Speaker 4 (16:11):
So it's grow up that would grow up old school.
But I love it. Because they're not changing who they are. Yeah,
this is what got us here. So I was when
I got there, I was it was definitely an eye
opener to me. But I was like, ah, the hell way.
They got to deal with it, right, we got to adjust.
(16:31):
I heard this this all season.
Speaker 1 (16:32):
You said, you said the Rust Wilson was was the
right pick for the Steelers.
Speaker 3 (16:37):
Yeah, why why was that?
Speaker 4 (16:38):
Just because I feel like if you go back and
look at you know, when Pittsburgh was in those Super
Bowl conversations and when they was, you know, winning twelve
thirteen games a year, they had a quarterback that wasn't
afraid to push the ball down the field. And Russell
Wilson is that type of quarterback as a big band
that can create extra time, uh that that can deliver
(17:02):
the ball down the field at a timey at a
timmy fashion. And they always had weapons around them. It
just was missing that piece to help that offense really
flourish in many ways. So with Russell coming there, we
all we all know that they have a great running game,
they got a solid defense. I just feel like it
(17:23):
was a perfect match because it's putting Russell back where
he was early on in his career with Seattle with
a defensive mind to head coach, great defense, uh, great
running game, talented talented receivers around you, where we can
push the ball down the field still get the ball
in the end zone. So this is just a carver
(17:45):
copy of what Russ was when he was in Seattle.
So that's why I feel like this was a perfect
match for Russell and coach Tomlin because you have a
guy that's not that's not afraid to push the ball
down the field, and he's not going to turn ball
over as much, you know what I mean. And he's
a proven veteran, you know what I mean. So, uh,
(18:05):
let's see how this continued to you know, play out
for the Pittsburgh Steelers. But I did think that this
was the missing piece for this Pittsburgh Steelers team.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
Right under rush there at four and one. No, you know,
prior to last night's game, they were four and oh
is it weird that you know, George Pickens came out
and said the weather had had a part in yeah, play.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
I thought, I thought that was really weird.
Speaker 4 (18:28):
And now m and hear why I'm going to say
that because one thing about coach.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
Tomlin, you don't care about weather.
Speaker 4 (18:34):
He don't care about weather, And I promise you he
found a way to prepare the team for that. Really,
I don't know what it was, but I guarantee you
he found a way to prepare the team for what
they was going to going to be expected in that you're.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
In the anc North. Yeah, everybody has an open stadium
in the North.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
Everybody plays on hopefully decent grass, but it's probably not
and crappy weather.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
So yeah, I was very shocked that he said that,
But I know coach Tomlin he will address that for sure,
because that's like a sign.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
Oh snow bothers you hunt right, you're showing weakness to
the word. I want to tell you about that exactly.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
I was like, I was like, yep.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
For him to say, I was like, you're in Pittsburgh,
it's right, And I know it was outside practicing, right,
Like you know, it.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
Was outside practicing.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
Like the Saints when we have somebody that has the
outside spot, we practice at least a day.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
If you're in Lacy North, you're practicing probably the entire week.
Speaker 3 (19:32):
He did, yep, every day, which was I was like, oh.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
My god, that sounds like miserable football to me, how
do you feel about cold weather. You played in Vikings,
but they got a dome, But that means you played
in Green Bay, you played in Chicago, you go down
to the Pittsburgh and you got to play everybody in
the cold.
Speaker 3 (19:49):
It sounds so terrible.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
Minnesota was actually cool because we only had two games
outside in Nicole, which was Chicago and Green Bay.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
But you catch a late Green Bay game, and yeah
we did. We did.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
They catch a late green Bay game my first year there.
It was a night game too. I think it was
New Year's Eve. It was so cold camp. It was
every bit about seven degrees, bro, Like, no bs, when
the wind hits you in a chill when killing. Then
the year after that, we went to Soldier Field one
o'clock game and it was like twenty something AGREESI in it,
(20:22):
but that win made it feel like it was minus five.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
You feeling all you hearing it and you feeling at
the same time they whipping through your soul. I've played
in one cold game that the Belt game.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
No, it was.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
It was weak at It's Cleveland like two years ago. Bro,
it was negative twenty eight with wind shield. Oh, They're like, no,
it's not that cold. It feels like no, it feels
like negative twenty eight. Oh my gosh, it's like it
was like negative.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
Eight or whatever.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
When sheils thirty forty mile wins whipping through Bros On
the intercom they came in, was like, hey, anybody in
the upper.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
Bowl moved down the lower bowl for heating purposes or
something like that. I was like, we're gonna die here right.
It made me.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
It made me a miserable person. Like I'm in the
game and they're talking about like we gotta get to stop.
I'm like, I'm I hate it here. I need chicken broth.
I had a wet suit on the first half. I
couldn't feel my legs going going in halftime. It's because
the wet suit is I'm hot on top and I'm
freezing down load because I've sweated out throughout everything.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
My first game I've ever cramped in. I've never cramped
a day in my life, and I cramped this.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
I remember I went home and I was like, hey, man,
Like I went to the wife. I was like, you're
trying to you're trying to teach these kids like like
we did during COVID. You're trying to like be the teacher.
She's like, what's wrong. She I was like, I don't
want to be here.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
They said, what do you mean?
Speaker 2 (21:39):
It's like I was like not saying like like here
in this house or here our team.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
But like after season we're leaving and she's like and
she she was like okay, literally right out season, Bro,
I broke to Spain and I stayed there for three months.
I was just like, I was like, no, like really
I was inspired by being frozen. Like there's so many
other things I can do with my life than being
this week ass cold game on this spade for three months?
Speaker 3 (22:01):
Right? Crazy? Right, bro?
Speaker 2 (22:03):
Like just I'm a miserable person cold.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
Yeah, that's crazy.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
And I get cold at like sixty degrees.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
I'd like me too.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
I'm from Florida, so like anything under sixty one that's
nippy to me.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
Bro, I'm eighty eighty and grabbing a sweater like you
feel that chill though, like you felt that chill. I'm
a very sweatshirt sweat shorts type guy. We'll be right back,
all right, but let's let's pivot and go to Who's
the real deal. You know, November is often when the
pretenders and contenders separate. Remember remember the month of November.
(22:37):
So in this segment called Who's the Real Deal, I'll
name ten teams and you tell me you think they're
pretenders or contenders.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
Okay, here we go.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
Here's on the Cardinals contenders six and four, number one
in Landacy West.
Speaker 4 (22:52):
Contender for sure. Like the way Colin Marriage playing right
now in their defense.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
Right and the defense non descript other than Buddha, like.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
Very nonder stript, like Buddha's out there putting hits on
people per usual.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
And ten other guys just follow.
Speaker 2 (23:05):
Along, follow the leader.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
Detroit Lions, Oh yeah, contender, big contender.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
They got Dan Campbell.
Speaker 1 (23:13):
Aaron Glyn at d C was uh Dan Campbell with
you and tightens coach Hey, so all the all that
he says, I'm like, I'm a firm believer.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
He played in the league.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
I got a whole nother stick about coaches like that
played actually being the head coaches, Like I believe you,
you know, like I know we can get done to
Mika Ryan's you look around like I agree with you anyways.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
Baltimore Ravens mm hmmm mm hmmm.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
Ah, man, I can't do that. Man, I'm gonna go contender, okaymntend.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
Deep in the playoffs contender, Yeah for the Super Bowl. Yeah, okay,
I felt hesitation, so I didn't.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
Yeah, I know.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
It just they got a lot of questions on the
defensive side of the ball. But I'm I'm gonna still
they stick got Lamar Jackson, King Henry. Hopefully they find
a way to use him better and more often. Right
that we will have to wait to see, but I'm
gonna give him contender.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
Mark Andrews still over there, blaze, Yeah, you know, they
got some they got some dogs. And it's crazy because
their defensive side is stacked. They are you say, you say, row.
It's very shocking to see their defense have these mistakes
continue to pile on at the week after week and
in the closing, defining moments in games. Right, that's uh,
(24:36):
that's very alarming.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
So Daffe away Yeah, Maki.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
Yeah, Zach got his defensive coordinator. Zach got his work
cut out for him.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
Man, which is weird, coybad noise to has like seven
stecks somehow, And then you're the secondary and the secondary
is supposed to be their strength. Marlow, Marlon Humphrees, Marcus Williams,
William Kyle Hamilton.
Speaker 4 (24:55):
Young fella from Clemson Wiggins. So yeah, they're they're underachievement
right now.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
Yep, sorry, let's move to Los Angeles Chargers.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
Damn, I can't say everybody is a damn I'm gonna
call them a pretender.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
I'm gonna help you.
Speaker 4 (25:09):
Yeah, I was gonna say, although they had some pretty
good wins late, I'm gonna put them as a pretender
right now.
Speaker 3 (25:17):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
Yeah, we lost to him, and I was like, how
did we lose?
Speaker 1 (25:20):
Like, I was like, their offense isn't as good as
they had some explosives they beat us, and I was like, damn, Like.
Speaker 3 (25:28):
Was that you guys went to l a right? Yeah,
I remember saying that game back of court.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
But you know, Derek Cargs hurt. That guts your season
just from to and to two and four real quick
and seven?
Speaker 2 (25:40):
Derek you good? Are you good? God loves everybody.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
Washington Commanders, Uh pretenders, Yeah, I liked I like Jaydon Daniels,
like like I like Jay and Daniels to l s.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
You gotta go Tigers.
Speaker 4 (25:57):
I just think, uh, the experience is gonna it's going
to kick in at some point. I think their lack
of experience, lack of experience, it's going to kick in
at some point.
Speaker 1 (26:08):
Their receivers got experience, you know, linebacker b Wags is
over there, like that's that's that's about it.
Speaker 4 (26:14):
A secretary, Well, they got they just signed a lot
more so that might help them. But their secondary is
young and they need they have some growing to do.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
Uh Minnesota Vikings m hmm.
Speaker 4 (26:28):
And when we're saying contenders, we're talking about contenders, not
continents a playoffs.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
Hit the playoffs, people believe in them when they hit
the playoffs. The object of the NFL is to win
the Super Bowl. Contenders, Okay, pretender Sam Donald, You ain't
like he's playing excellent, Yeah he is playing excellent. Eighten too, Yeah,
Aiden too.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
But they still got to go through the joy.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
Yeah. What what quarterbacks typically win the Super Bowl? Man
the better one?
Speaker 1 (26:56):
Yeah yeah, Kansas City, Oh yeah, contender, contender, back to
back super Bowl champ. There's they're like, you know, they
have one loss, and everybody like jumped on a bag.
Way go if they don't look as strong as they
did last year. But last year everybody talked about how
they didn't look as strong as the year.
Speaker 2 (27:16):
Before, Like you're looking for chinks in the armor that
don't really exist.
Speaker 4 (27:20):
They just find ways to win. And it doesn't matter
how it's calls to win a ball game, it's either
they've done it or they're going to do it.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
Winning is contagious, and I just learned this season losing
is also contagious. So winning is contagious. So when you
get a win, it's easy to stack those wins. And
when you have been in all types of situations, it's
a lot like was that twenty Was that twenty sixteen,
twenty seventeen when Cam Newton took the Panthers to twenty.
Speaker 2 (27:46):
Fifteen Super Bowl? Cam Newton took took his team to
Super Bowl fifteen and one, and they were winning games
by two and three points, like twelve of them. But
you know what it is, it's fifteen to one season.
It's when you don't know how to lose, then you
don't worry about losing.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
Yeah, I agree, So you know, I'm I'm with you
from that one.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
They don't they don't know what not being successful is.
Speaker 1 (28:07):
Patrick Pat Mahomes took over at eleven and whatever, t
eleven five team from Alex Alex Smith and they're like, oh,
that he's the game changer. Well, there are already a
playoff contentionent team. You're right, he's the icing and the
cherry and the air around it.
Speaker 3 (28:20):
Hey, so you know how many playoff games Patrick Mahomes
have lost? Probably four?
Speaker 4 (28:25):
Let's say four if you include the super Bowl? Yeah,
probably like four. I want to say it was three two.
Super Bowl was one. Actually it might be one, bro Man, No, No,
it was too he lost to Cincinnati.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
Three.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
Three is a number. Three is number is the number.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
But that's what I'm saying. And he've been a twenty song.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
Yeah, that's bizarre.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
Fifteen fifteen and three in the playoffs. Yeah, and we're
not He's not worried about it anyway. He had contender
Philadelphia Eagles. I'm gonna go contender.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
Are Jalen Hurts eyebrows?
Speaker 3 (29:04):
Real? I would hope.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
So I'm saying, like I've met a few times, I've
just been looking.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
I'm not so you think what he got them lined up?
Speaker 2 (29:16):
I'm just saying they're heavy and he's balling heavy. Is
the cround Pittsburgh Steelers which quarterback?
Speaker 1 (29:26):
Because even the last nice game, they threw in justin
fields for two plays one was a crucial third tol pretender.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
Are they going to finish? Will they finish with Russ
as the quarterback this season?
Speaker 3 (29:38):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (29:39):
Dangerouss Yeah.
Speaker 4 (29:40):
I don't like the two quarterback system. I just think,
I know, I think it messes up the ebbs and
flow right up the game, especially when they called on
Justin Fielder to throw that pass at the end of
the game.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
Right, he been called all games it's twenty five degrees outside,
you like, hey, third and four, toss it up, Jack, And.
Speaker 4 (30:03):
Then on top of that, he was already struggling throwing
the football down the field.
Speaker 3 (30:08):
So I didn't get that play call.
Speaker 4 (30:10):
And I just feel like the two quarterback system is
is getting not I won't say getting played out, but
I just feel like they need to.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
I think there's a room for I think there's room
for it.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
I would say on a crucial third and four, like,
if you you fourth and one, I might throw Justin
in because I'm like, hey, if you can't make with
your arm.
Speaker 3 (30:27):
Right, you can know what to do. Yeah, because like
that read option, That's what I'm saying. Nice, Yeah, that
was nice.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
Take some hill that thing, Denver Broncos pretenders.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
Yeah, not this year.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
So Nicks. I get it. He's a twenty eight year
old rookie.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
But but Sean, Sean and him has found found their groove.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
Facts. Yeah, facts, all right? Cool?
Speaker 1 (30:48):
Yeah, that was that segment. Last question, talk to me
super Bowl prediction? Who you got in it?
Speaker 3 (30:53):
Uh? The Detroit Lions can see the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (30:57):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
Who you got AFC.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
I must say Ravens this year. Wait, it's time.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
Wait, I don't know. I don't know how the Chiefs lose.
We were just talking about.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
I'm not gonna I know, but you've already gone there,
so I will not. I will play Devil's advocate and
say Ravens this year. Okay, and specifically because Lamar is
a phenomenal and I think a super Bowl. Super Bowl
win is a quarterback stat. Yeah, like everybody else sort
of like, oh and super Bowl champion and whatever.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
But that's not a.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
Defining stat for them, the defensive end, linebacker, wide receiver,
that's not a defining stat. Defining stat for some reason
is attached to quarterbacks. You gotta have a gotta have
super Bowl to be considered one of the greats. So
he wants to be one of the greats. Then has
to be a super Bowl, so sorry jumping off topic.
Is considered a great, although that he wants to super Bowls, it's.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
Ben Roethlisberger considered a great he was never the MVP
of the Super Bowl. Deep here, Well, I like it
just Eli has two m vps.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
He do have two.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
He beat and beat Tom Brady, who is the winningest
super Bowl quarterback ever.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
They just saw this debate on TV.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
Yes, nice, I was just yeah, I mean I've said
some foolish things in the past and whatever it was,
but uh, yeah, I just I just look at it
like Eli has not only been the two, he beat
Tom Brady in the two as well as so he's
a Pats killer.
Speaker 3 (32:22):
Yeah, you know it definitely is that. Yeah, so he's
probably a lot and Brett for that was Aaron Rodgers mistake. Eight.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
Yeah, I'm a Green Bay Haker by birthright, So I'm
never going to give them.
Speaker 3 (32:36):
They're just doing pops in Minnesota, never know exactly.
Speaker 1 (32:41):

Speaker 2 (33:16):
Because the Saints, we're not marching in.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
We're scraping. We're crawling whatever it takes to find a
way four and seven.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
We got a long way to go to be a contender.
I can't even say pretender because we're just fighting
