Speaker 1 (00:04):
A Huddle is a production of the NFL in partnership
with Iheartradioal.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
What's good, everybody, This is the l Huddles.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Super Bowl edition.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Of course, we are here to celebrate those you know,
voices and those people that make the game so great
from the NFL to the entertainment world and beyond. Will
Selve alongside my edmana, my Prima prim Costa.

Speaker 4 (00:42):
Ruiz who is going to be at the Super Ball
hanging out And you're hanging out in Radio Row, so
so give us give us a taste of what radio
Row is like.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Radio Row is just so cool because I call it
the sports media family Reunion.

Speaker 5 (01:02):
Right.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Everyone has a booth setup. Some people will have huge
sets set up. Of course, NFL Media has different shows
broadcasting from there. Our atn guys will be there. We'll
have a little slice for and huddle there as well.
But really you get to just see everybody you haven't
seen all year, who lives all over the country, from
all different networks, all different outlets, international media. It's kind

(01:22):
of nuts because as the week progresses, suddenly you get
like random celebrities and of course the players from other
teams who aren't playing in the game come through. You
got players from other sports who just want to be
part of Super Bowl Week, So it's a little chaotic.
But the cool thing is everyone is sort of laid
back and just excited to be leading up to the game.

(01:43):
So you get to have like very fun conversations even
just outside of it. But like the coolest thing is
that all the players are there trying to make that bag. Okay,
So everybody's promoting something. Everybody has a bless door stridership,
so they will talk to you because their whole point
there is to like push product.

Speaker 6 (01:59):
But hey, as long as we get the access, we
don't care.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Yeah, well there's gonna be a lot of shamp Who
endorsements and Dioda endorsements, right those, Yeah, that's that'll be
there as well. Or they'll say, oh for chips, Hey,
if you're hosting a Super Bowl party, you gotta have
this right listen. It's it's it's part of it's part
of the game. What were some of these players get

(02:23):
a chance to some of the stars that we see
every Sunday, Sunday night, Monday, Thursday night, that they're gonna
be there and they stop buy and they descend upon
Las Vegas.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
So Radio Row is gonna be a lot of fun.
And uh, you know, rather.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Than than me gabbing about anything, we want to hear.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
You m J gabbing with the stars on radio Row.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
Okay, this is a special one, perfect way to just
really continued to dive into the week, fresh off of
his first Pro Bowl appearance.

Speaker 6 (03:08):
But he should have been there before, but we'll get
into that later.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Please welcome in Eagles running back DeAndre Swift fove Deander. Okay,
let's talk about problem because all of us just got
over here to Vegas from Orlando. It's so cool how
they're doing it now. I really love the flag format.
The challenges are what kind of blew my mind? Was
there one you liked more than the others?

Speaker 7 (03:30):
The one when he was running through the wall and
push the yeah at the end, that was that was crazy.

Speaker 8 (03:38):
That was crazy.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
The move the chains one where like the all the
linemen had to the first one. Yes, they had to,
so if you guys didn't want you should just go
check it out.

Speaker 6 (03:47):
They had to put all move all the weights. I heard.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
I thought it was like dummy weights, like their ten
pounds weights.

Speaker 8 (03:51):
I think they might be like forty five, yes, like.

Speaker 6 (03:53):
Forty five or fifty pounds.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
Absolutely not not them thinking they We're just gonna go
to the theme parks and stuff like that. Here we
are with the working, working, working, But it was really
cool and like for you to be there for for
the first time and your QB was there, how cool
was it to just be able to hang out with
with the other guys.

Speaker 7 (04:11):
It was, it was, It was cool, Like you said,
it was a blessing to be out there. My first one,
had my family out there, a couple of guys from
the team out there, Me Hassigan, Jason Jalen out there
just just just just enjoying it.

Speaker 8 (04:23):
So it was it was a good It was a
great experience.

Speaker 6 (04:25):
I saw a lot of Eagles jerseys in the stands, like.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
The fly Eagles fly was going and we weren't in Orlando, Florida.

Speaker 8 (04:33):
Surely travel well, always they travel well.

Speaker 6 (04:35):
They always travel well.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
But for you, you're the local guy, Philly kid, how
has it been for you throughout your your career now
in the NFL to not only be.

Speaker 6 (04:45):
There, but to feel the love and to have the
success that you have.

Speaker 7 (04:49):
It's it's been this year was amazing that opportunity doesn't
really come around too often to be able to play
for play at the highest level that you grew up,
the town you grew up, in the city you grew up,
and the team you grew up rooting for. So when
the opoty presented it, so and I jumped at it.
Try to put my best foot forward this year, be

(05:09):
able to meet some great people, build some great relationships.

Speaker 8 (05:13):
I'm just thankful, thankful.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
So being in your hometown. What is life outside of
the field for you? Obviously I'm the off season because
it's all work outside of that, But what what is
it that you love about feeling and what are the
things you really enjoy getting.

Speaker 7 (05:26):
Into really well season, it ain't really too much I'm doing.
I'm chilling, you know, I'm in the crib waving yourself.

Speaker 8 (05:33):
Yeah, ready to wake up early in the morning and
go to work again.

Speaker 7 (05:36):
But just being back home, being able to be close
to your family, family could drive to the games, they
gotta get on the flights and stuff like that.

Speaker 6 (05:43):
So that's huge.

Speaker 7 (05:44):
Yeah, it was, it was amazing. It was an amazing opportunity.

Speaker 6 (05:48):
Are you a gamer?

Speaker 1 (05:50):
You are?

Speaker 6 (05:51):
Okay? Okay? Which ones are like the main the main
just Call.

Speaker 8 (05:55):
Of Duty in Man and those two games.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
I played the great games that I know because when
it gets into like the deep because some of the
gamers are.

Speaker 6 (06:01):
Like gamer games.

Speaker 7 (06:02):
I'm not like a Fortnite type, and I keep it.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
But I can get into colleg Dude, I can get
into mad I play that all the time. But yeah,
that's interesting and like the I think the guys sort
of bond this way now too, like jumping on the
headset going.

Speaker 7 (06:18):
Yeah, when you get done at the work, you get
on the game to night, you have to call you
stuff like that.

Speaker 6 (06:23):
And it's also a way to recover at.

Speaker 8 (06:25):
The same time, to come off for a little bit.

Speaker 9 (06:30):
Now.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
You and I were talking about the braid situation earlier
because mine took ten hours. The girl, the girl is
know what I'm talking about your so three, are you
gaming while you're getting braided?

Speaker 7 (06:39):
No, I was chilling watching Raising Caine while I was
getting While I was getting.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
I think I watched like four or five different streaming shows.

Speaker 6 (06:48):
You have to we just like.

Speaker 8 (06:49):
We're running almost everything on Netflix.

Speaker 6 (06:52):
It's a rough Yeah, we.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Made it through quite a few things, all right. So
I know you're here in Super Bowl with Procter and Gamble.
What are you doing with them? And and how exciting
is it to just be able to to be with
these folks.

Speaker 6 (07:04):
Here for Super Bowl.

Speaker 8 (07:05):
So I'm representing tie tonight.

Speaker 7 (07:06):
Actually the p G Battle the paddles, they give an
NFL players the opportunity to go ahead and play ping
pong tonight.

Speaker 8 (07:13):
Oh my god, I'm excited.

Speaker 6 (07:14):
Have you played ping pong before?

Speaker 8 (07:16):
I have?

Speaker 6 (07:17):
I feel like I'm do you know what? Like ping pong?
Table tennis? Excuse me? Is an Olympic sport I did
in a while.

Speaker 8 (07:23):
I know that. Yeah, it's crazy.

Speaker 6 (07:25):
It's crazy.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
It's like high level stuff, and like I feel like
in this type of stuff, battle of the paddle, which
is perfect. Actually, Jason Taylor back in Miami used to
have a ping pong tournament for the guys every year.

Speaker 6 (07:36):
The competitiveness is.

Speaker 8 (07:38):
No joke, it's for real.

Speaker 6 (07:39):
It gets serious, you guys. The paddle will break.

Speaker 8 (07:44):
It gets serious.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
So super Bowl week is obviously we call it a marathon,
not a sprint. And you're here with Parking and Gamble
representing time, Battle of the paddle, anything else that you're
getting into that you're really looking forward to.

Speaker 7 (07:58):
Yes, I'll be doing something with a rise and on Saturday,
I'm looking forward to looking forward to going to Michael Rubin's.

Speaker 8 (08:04):
They well, yeah, that's the big ticket. Was that one?

Speaker 6 (08:10):
A quick football question? Is there a specific opponent? Not
football but competitive question for your battle of the paddle?
Is there somebody you want to go up against for that?

Speaker 8 (08:19):
I looked at the line up. Yeah, I want to play.
I want to play.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
Okay, just like a running back I played.

Speaker 7 (08:29):
Jamal was on there too. I play him already. He
was both from the Church beat him.

Speaker 6 (08:33):
So I want to fantas you know what.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
Now I need like a bracket, right like I need
to see who advances who we do.

Speaker 6 (08:39):
I'm going to be playing very close attention to that. DeAndre,
thank you so much for your time. Thank you for Vegas.

Speaker 8 (08:44):
Enjoy as well, have a good week, and.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
The All Star lineup continues here on the podcast. Welcome
in call to wide receiver Michael Pittman Junior. For all
of you Southern California peeps. You know this man well
from his fight on Trojan Days and now we're here.

Speaker 6 (09:01):
In beautiful Las Vegas.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
What's the I know you just got here too, So
has it been a bit of a whirl when they're
keeping you booked and busy out here.

Speaker 9 (09:09):
Yeah, I mean, I mean, I mean like it's a
lot going on here. But I'm actually here on behalf
of the Toyota. They are the official automotive sponsor of
the NFL, and they have me out here, and U
like they're putting on like a great thing here, So
like I'm happy.

Speaker 5 (09:25):
To be here for him.

Speaker 6 (09:26):
Wait, so what are you doing with them?

Speaker 5 (09:28):
So?

Speaker 9 (09:30):
I mean, I mean, like I really am not doing
any type of leg work, but I'm here to kind
of be around their whole like event. Yeah, and and
they're doing lots of cool things, like they have their
brand new twenty twenty four Toyota Tacoma and it's somewhere
that direction.

Speaker 6 (09:49):
I mean the truck.

Speaker 5 (09:50):
I mean, that truck is sick. I mean, I mean
it can do everything.

Speaker 9 (09:53):
So just being around them, man, like they got some
cool stuff coming up.

Speaker 6 (09:57):
It's so funny because we have the trucks out at
Pro Bowl too. We're out on the set like next.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
To where all the obstacles were for the for the
game challenges, which were kind of wild.

Speaker 6 (10:06):
I don't know if you got to see it. They're
pretty interesting.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
But yeah, they were on the field like the entire game,
so we got a live, up close and personal view
of what Toyota's record with which we're feeling good about.

Speaker 6 (10:19):
For you, how has it been this postseason?

Speaker 1 (10:21):
You know?

Speaker 5 (10:22):
Yeah, I mean, I mean it's been very relaxed.

Speaker 9 (10:25):
It's almost been hard for me to watch games because
because just like a part of me like is jealous,
Like just like I'm watching these guys, I'm like, I
wish I was playing too, But I pay attention like
to like the box scores, because because like I have
friends who are playing and like, you know, like just
like I want them to play well and keep on going.
But it's been tough, man, because we had a chance

(10:48):
to maybe do something and it just didn't go our way.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
But yeah, well when your quarterback goes down, it's kind
of tough to to shift gears there. But we want
we're here keeping a positive because I think what we
learned was how much special talent is there?

Speaker 5 (11:02):
Right absolutely, So.

Speaker 6 (11:04):
That's like the exciting part for Colts fans as they
move forward. But for you, I mean, you had a
career high one hundred and nine er. Just a tremendous
year for you.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
As you look at your career, like are those the
things that you're keeping track of or are you just
sort of letting the.

Speaker 6 (11:16):
Journey take you.

Speaker 9 (11:17):
Well, it's funny because as a player, I always look
at what I could have done better. So like so
like I look back to when I took that hit
like and got injured and missed some time, Like I think, hey,
I could have done way better, and maybe I would
have put my name in like for the Pro Bowl
a little bit more, and.

Speaker 5 (11:32):
Like just like stuff like that.

Speaker 9 (11:34):
So like I don't really focus on like the good
too much, but you know, sometimes I like to sit
back and be like, okay, like that was just like
I'm moving in the right direction. Because in football, like
you know, like it's like this right and there's yeah,
and like there's like lots of lows and there's you know,
and like there's like highs in there. Like we had
like a couple of highs like this season, and unfortunately,

(11:57):
like we fell short. But I think that we could
be back. And like I say weeks, I'm still like
on the team until like until whatever deadline is. So
so just like I'm gonna keep on saying we So
I think that we will be back.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
What I what I've learned so far about you is
that you're competitive but not petty. It's cool because you're
stilchering on the other guys in the league. Speaking of
your former teammate at USC, Sam Darnold, now part of
this forty nine ers that's here in the NFL, have
you been able to.

Speaker 6 (12:27):
Talk to him at all? I mean, just as you know,
in this game, at any moment, anybody can and he has.

Speaker 9 (12:32):
Gone into So I haven't talked to him because obviously
this is the biggest game like of his life.

Speaker 5 (12:38):
So like I don't want to be any type of
distraction because.

Speaker 6 (12:41):
You're courteous, because I'm sure other people are absolutely blowing him.

Speaker 9 (12:43):
Oh yeah, I mean because like it's exciting, like just
like for everybody, like all his family and friends, like
they're probably so like excited for him, and like they
just want to talk to him. But like I know
how big like this game is, and and like even
though like I've never played in it, like I can
just like imagine like what he's feeling. So I don't
want to add any more pressure or anything, uh like

(13:05):
to that situation because obviously this is for everything, So Okay,
So I.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
Have to ask you this since you watch along and
you follow the guys. My family's Dominican, So my dad
is a huge when we watch baseball, like, oh that's
a Dominican player.

Speaker 6 (13:17):
That's a player for you.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
Like let's say with USC, are you like cheering all
the guys off, like oh Amon Rod just did something great,
like that's one of our Trojans.

Speaker 5 (13:25):
Yeah. Yeah, I mean he had an incredible year, unreal.

Speaker 9 (13:28):
I mean, I mean, but everything that he's doing, like
it doesn't shock me because I knew that he was
that guy when he stepped foot like at SC I mean,
like I like just like the like determination he has
in his work ethic.

Speaker 5 (13:46):
I just knew that he was going to do great things.

Speaker 9 (13:48):
Yeah, And I'm just so happy to see like what
he's doing because as a older player, like I feel
like like obviously, like I didn't do anything to make
him successful, like he did all of that, but like
I feel like I had my hand like in his process.
So like when I see him doing well, like it
makes me feel good, like just like like hey, like

(14:09):
like just like I helped bring him along.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (14:12):
Yeah, So.

Speaker 1 (14:14):
You know it's funny because we did a we had
this series called Game Recognized Game where we would put
NFL players against like international soccer players. So Amon's brother
eq Epronymious you guys, was there that day and I
met their dad. Yes, and so if anyone has met
their dad, Big John, yes, you can fully understand.

Speaker 6 (14:34):
Why they work the way they work and why it's wild.

Speaker 5 (14:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (14:38):
I mean back at SCE, we had like conspiracies that
they're just a bunch of like robots and all they
do is work.

Speaker 5 (14:44):
So so but yeah, just like we would always like
joke with him about that.

Speaker 6 (14:49):
But I mean the proof is in the pudding.

Speaker 5 (14:51):
Absolutely, It's incredible. Yeah.

Speaker 9 (14:53):
I mean their whole family is just outstanding. I mean
even their brother Osiris that doesn't still play football but
a Stanford guy graduate. I mean, I mean like their
whole family is just successful.

Speaker 5 (15:06):
Yeah. Absolutely, And for you you were.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
Mentioning to me you have a huge family, which I
love because I come from a huge family too. What
type of stuff off the field, right when you do
get the couple months, I would like say it's a
few weeks really for the for the football players where
you do get to kick back, what is it when
you remove yourself ever?

Speaker 6 (15:24):
So briefly from the game of football.

Speaker 9 (15:26):
Yeah, I mean, I mean it's always good to separate
it too, because obviously football is a high stress job
and you got to relieve that, you know, because football
is almost like it's almost like year round. So the
way that I kind of work is I start a
week after Super Bowl, so we've kind of been relaxing,
taking a couple of family vacation. I've been taking rounds

(15:46):
to go see yeah. Yeah, just like taking rounds to
go see all of my all of my like family.
There's a lot of people to get to oh yeah, yeah,
so I have so I have three brothers, and I
have three sisters, and obviously going and seeing like my
parents and grandparents and everything.

Speaker 5 (16:03):
So I kind of to take this time to relax
and just go see everybody.

Speaker 6 (16:06):
Yeah, I mean that can.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
Also be stressed sometimes too, trying to get everybody in
the views, but it also recharges you.

Speaker 6 (16:13):
So I'm excited to see what's next, not just for
the calls, but for you yourself. Thank you so much
for coming on here and I'm sharing some time with us.
I appreciate it.

Speaker 5 (16:20):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
Well, well, well and Jake getting it done talking everybody.
You were like totally feeling yourself into this, into the
whole Super Bowl vibe.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
Uh, thank good for you. So, but you did walk
away with like a shoe endorsement of some kind. I'd
like to think that's what.

Speaker 6 (16:50):
I'm hoping you plant seeds on radio row and home.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Yeah, it would help if I, you know, if I
wore shoulder pads and a helmet on a regular basis
for what is it, how many weeks is it now?
Nineteen weeks? But it's always to be out there and
just to see everybody. So truly a fun time. But
now we got to get down to business. Our last
order of business, if you will, for the twenty twenty

(17:15):
three twenty four season.

Speaker 6 (17:17):
Will So let's get these pick a winner and a
score prediction for Super Bowl?

Speaker 1 (17:24):
Right?

Speaker 8 (17:24):
Eight?

Speaker 6 (17:24):
Who you got?

Speaker 3 (17:25):
All right? So ladies first?

Speaker 1 (17:27):
Okay, I'll go first first, unpopular opinion. I love these
so much because we're gonna run and run them back later.
I'm gonna go with the what is for sure the
underdog here. I'm gonna go Niners in a close one.
Who's clapping over there? I'm gonna go Niners in a

(17:48):
close one. Twenty seven twenty seven forty nine ers. They
get a lump and they win, and they get their
their little revenge.

Speaker 8 (18:03):
Over the Chiefs.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
Okay, all right, I like it. I am going to
go with the forty nine ers.

Speaker 6 (18:10):
As well, not alone on the island, thank god.

Speaker 3 (18:13):
Yeah. So you and I both thirty four to thirty one.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
Oh and I think that that Shanahan gets these guys ready.
I think the the I know they say revenge factor
isn't a thing, but we saw Kittle a few years
ago when he said I will be back. I will
be back, and I'll be back with the vengeance and
this isn't going to define me.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
Well here it is is this is it? And guess
what now? No offense to Jimmy g.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
But now they got the guy under center who I
think can make things happen, make the big throws. As
we mentioned before on this podcast, that he can run.
So run Rock, run to the end zone.

Speaker 1 (18:54):
I'll give you one more snippet as to why, because
I was dangerously close to picking the Chiefs because why
wouldn't you I think most people low hanging through of course,
why wouldn't they win? At Super Bowl fifty four, I
was a reporter assigned to the forty nine ers for
that game. I had been covering them the whole season,
and so after that Super Bowl loss, I was tasked

(19:16):
with going into that now losing locker room. And until
you've been in a Super Bowl losing locker room, right,
I really can't express.

Speaker 6 (19:27):
To you what it feels like to be in there.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
And I wasn't even the one who played the game,
and it's ingrained, it's burned in my brain the feeling
that was in there and talking to the guys after
that game, and there are many players who were there
who are still on this team, and certainly coach doesn't
forget that. And so if I can't forget it, I
know for a fact that that team has not. And

(19:50):
I think to your point, there is something beyond the
revenge point. It's the redemption to me for the forty
nine ers, and I think it's the redemption that they're
after more so than the revenge.

Speaker 8 (20:03):
I like it.

Speaker 3 (20:04):
Well put, that is the boon, tho. That is the bow.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
On the Super Bowl edition of the l Huddle podcastd Mana,
enjoy the game, Save travels and we'll be talking as
you're rubbing elbows with the more celebrities and legends. So
don't don't get too big of a head, all right,
because we still need you for the born.

Speaker 5 (20:25):
For other reasons, not.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
Even you are the best medmana.

Speaker 2 (20:28):

I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
