with iHeartRadio Big.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Dallas, Dakota, Prescott and.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
SA for.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
Savage Touchdown Patricks Salva Savage. I see what you did there.
That's how it sounded in Spanish.
Speaker 4 (00:40):
What's good? Everybody being beneath us? This is the l
Huddle podcast. I'm will Salva alongside my Mana, my Prima,
my Prima Mana, my Premia Mana, MJ. Casa Ruiz, who
is sick but valiantly doing this podcast with me.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
And I'm just.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
Curious with what you have. Does Vappu rube help out
at all?
Speaker 3 (01:03):
You know?
Speaker 1 (01:03):
I tried, we know, I tried that first and foremost
before and I'm gonna say it helped me feel better,
sort of the playbo effect, but it did not take
away what I had.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
But we're on the men, We're doing well.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
I did, however, wait to tell my mom for whatever reason.
I think I just wasn't in a capacity where like
I could be like alert enough to speak with her.
So later in the day I finally texted her and
told her. She called me within ten seconds.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Ten seconds. Yeah, She's like.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Buy yourself some garlic.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
You're gonna need some potatoes.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
You're gonna need You're gonna.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
Like spring into action. This is what you need to do,
my mom. She's like, put your husband on the phone. See,
my mom would make me feel bad and she would
say that that was the first thing. Never mind the
fact that I am sick at all.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Make sure immediately went into like this is what I
would do. She's like, get David on the phone. I'm
gonna give him step by step instructions on.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Foot to get yeah, what to do.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
God bless you. But it's nuts, you know, like we're
we're grown, grown, grown, grown folks, and it doesn't matter.
You still need Mommy's soup. This morning, she was like,
this is how I want you to make the tea.
She's like, don't you dare pick up a tea bag.
She's like, first, you're gonna boil this. So I'm like, Mom,
I don't want to get out of bed. She's like,
get David again. He's working.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
I don't care.
Speaker 5 (02:28):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Yeah, well good, but my mom, the men I'm doing much.
Speaker 5 (02:31):
Better than good. Good.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
I'm glad to hear that.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
I don't know if the cowboys are on the mend
after what had happened in Dallas against the Packers, and
first off, let's just say the Packers not only won,
they won convincingly, and they did so from the word go.
Jordan Love constantly converting on third down, making throws off
his back foot with the hand and a defender in
(02:57):
his face. He looked in command, looked poised, and the
Packers really should be given the ultimate hat tip was
sticking with Jordan Love after drafting them, having them for
three years, sit behind Aaron Rodgers and thinking this was
going to be a rebuild.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
But they went in.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
There to Dallas, took it to them, and here they
are advancing to take on the forty nine.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Ers, no question. And our friend Aaron Andrews, who was
on the pregame show and of course about the broadcast,
made a great point as she was talking to guys
and just setting the atmosphere for that game, so you
could feel how heavy it was for the Cowboys and
how much was on the line for them, knowing what
the playoff history has been for the squad, and now
(03:45):
they're hosting a playoff game there. Meanwhile, the Packers are
coming in, They're like, shoot, we're playing with house money here.
We're not really supposed to be in the playoffs this year.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
Absolutely no one thought that. Yeah, and this is a
young this is a young team.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
And Jordan Love, I mean he has Romeo Dobbs, you know,
he has you know, Jayden Reid, he has you know,
guys that are young and hungry and don't know any better.
And they just went in there, took care of business.
And so for them, they deserve it. This is where
they are. They moved on. Then on the other side,
(04:20):
the Cowboys just completely collapsed and evaporated from the start,
and Green Bay just.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
Wanted it more.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
They had more juice mass Hugo, right, they just we were.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
Ready to play.
Speaker 4 (04:36):
And you know Dak and company, they were in shock
after this one. And this is what Dak had to
say after the loss.
Speaker 6 (04:47):
Yeah, I mean frustrated, as you just said, the great
word for my play, the way that we came out
here and we started this game and then just shocked.
Honestly from the beginning of the game. Yeah, we got.
Speaker 5 (05:02):
Beat.
Speaker 6 (05:02):
There's no other which way around. Didn't no way sugarcoat it.
I understand the business, and in that case it should
be about me as well. Honestly, I mean that that guy.
I've had the season that I've had because of him.
This team has had the success that they've had because
of him. And I understand it's about winning the Super
(05:22):
Bowl and that's the standard of the league and damn
sure the standard of this place. So I get it,
but add me to the list in that case.
Speaker 4 (05:33):
Still a lot of uncertainty in Dallas. But Dak also
taking this one and owning it. And the image still
is the same where it's the Cowboys. They've got star players.
They made a coaching change for offensive coordinator where it
(05:54):
was Mike McCarthy calling the players. We saw the difference
where CD and Dak were really clicking this This just
went completely south. And even though they were able to
score some points at the end of the first half
and then into the second half, this game just felt
over from the word go. So again, as of this recording,
(06:16):
we have to see what the future holds for not
only Mike McCarthy but also Dak Prescott.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
Yeah, and I will say a note because our amazing
colleague Jane Slater, who of course has you covered on
all things Cowboys. She's been just peppering us with so
much inside information from her point of view on how
well she knows the organization and how well she knows
these players. And she made an interesting note saying that
there have been so many players who have gone to
(06:44):
bat for McCarthy who have said how tremendous he is
as a coach, who have just really had his back
through all of this after this loss, and that that
is something that Jerry Jones does take into account when
he makes these decisions. So we'll be interesting to see
what happens in the end of it.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
Yeah, yeah, well, I mean, we'll see if Jerry Jones
by Mongo Mike McCarthy, as my mom would say, I
don't know if saying that they say Mongo control.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (07:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
And in this case, I mean, Jerry Jones was dejected.
He said this was a horrible loss and has taken
a beat to really think about things. And then people
were wondering if he was going to talk for his
weekly radio appearance. But the way it works out is
he doesn't do a radio appearance if this season is over.
And that's what they're facing where right now under Mike McCarthy,
(07:40):
they're one in three. Mike McCarthy has an eleven and
eleven record and while he's liked in that locker room,
the results are not there. We're talking almost thirty years
of the Cowboys being shut out of a Super Bowl appearance,
and this this is a team that globally is well known.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
Has a lot of star power.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
This is this is a a franchise that I that
I can see transitioning to somebody else. That's at least
my first read of the situation. We'll see if that
actually comes to fruition.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
I mean that that seems like the most likely outcome
of all of this, but you never know. Crazier things
have happened in the end.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
Yeah, Yeah, well maybe maybe the team in Texas is
really the Houston Texans.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
Let's go the Texans.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
We've talked about how much we love that offense and
CJ's crowd o rookie here winning a playoff game against
a former Super Bowl MVP and veteran in Joe Flackl
on the other side, and Demiko Ryans has these guys
playing aggressive football on defense and with Bobby Slowik as
(08:54):
the OC at the controls. Wow, some of the plays
that they call and the throws that CJ. Stroud makes,
It's fun to watch their offense. We've said it all along,
just so much fun to see them operate.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
And I think even at the beginning of the season,
because you won't let me lie, well, at the beginning
of the year, we sort of it was similar to
that Packers' mentality.
Speaker 8 (09:19):
No expectation. This is the first year coach, this is
a rookie quarterback. It's a rebuilding situation for Houston, no question,
Let's just see how it goes. And so even in
the early onsoughts of the season, when we saw the
spark from c. J.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Stroud, were like, oh, how fun. I love this for you, Houston.
How cute is this? And then they started winning, and
then they started winning big games. And I think it
is part of it is that we had no expectations
for the Texans. We just wanted to see how this
thing was going to build, how c J. Stroud was
going to develop. And now here they are not only
(09:54):
winning but putting an ass we but on people straight.
Yeah five to fourteen, come on now.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
Yeah, I total yes.
Speaker 5 (10:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (10:04):
Now that being said, for you, I hate this part
for you that you see Dolphins lose and listen, the
injuries a lot to overcome with Bradley Chubb, Jadlen Phillips,
Jyalen Wattle wasn't one hundred percent. The one thing that
I will say though, that has stayed with me is
(10:28):
Mike McDaniel, another great play caller, and he's a disciple
of Kyle Shanahan, and it seemed like they were able
to run the ball at least with Hn. For some reason,
I feel like McDaniel, like Shanahan and some of these
like brilliant play callers, they almost try to be too
(10:48):
cute and out think themselves, right, what do you think?
Speaker 2 (10:52):
I agree with the same thing.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
I think, especially when they're going up against another coach
like Andy Reid, who obviously Andy Reid has one of
those like it looks like an old timey scroll type
of playbook, right, so he's going to have an answer
before you even ask the question. And I think what
happens sometimes with guys like McDaniels, who are also super
(11:14):
freaking smart, is that they overthink it instead of just
sticking to what they know they can do and what
actually works. So that I think that's one layer of
the equation. The fact that it was negative one hundred
and five degrees, it didn't help Kansas City look, I
I can't. There's no you could tell me, MJ. You're
(11:38):
going to be fifty yard line, first row free. We're
going to fly you there, your whole family.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
I'm not going negative.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
Thirty two was the feel like temperature.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
Stop it.
Speaker 4 (11:49):
I'll be that as my mom would say that.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
As my mom would say, so not even close.
Speaker 4 (11:56):
So there's a playing in it, no, right, But it
sounds like they want to sign to a to a
long term extension, and I believe that he's earned it
and that is going to be protection for sure.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
Sure, No, for sure, that definitely.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
Bring down the pigs please yea, Yeah, he's earned that spot.
I mean just with what he did in the regular
season and being franchise records.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
And leading the league at one point.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
I mean, it's he's he's the guy there, he's the
guy there. Now there's still and the fun part is
that there's still more development to come, right, not just
for Tua, but for this group even this year. As
as they continued to play well and go deep into
the season, a lot of Dolphins fans, myself included, were like, Okay,
we're a year ahead. Okay, so I'm excited to see
(12:47):
next year.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
See how it goes.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
The losses are rough, the losses in the postseason are rough, especially,
but there's a lot to be excited about, for sure.
Call me a homer, but I think even objectively, if
you're looking at this Dolphin squad and what they weren't
able to achieve, and the talent that they have on
the roster and the mastermind that their coaches, which by
the way, he's still developing, I think there's a lot
(13:12):
to look forward to, for sure.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
I think the arrow is pointing up for them down
in Miami.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
Despite the loss.
Speaker 4 (13:20):
I think, honestly, the game of the weekend for me,
and I think really for everybody, it's a no brainer.
I think was the Lions and Rams. That being one
point loss for the Rams and our buddy see thea
Vila who we had on there, and it was so
loud in there, and to see Detroit get this win
after thirty some odd years and those fans are weeping
(13:42):
openly seeing this team win, and Jared Goff gets the
game ball and the atmosphere was electric and it was fun.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
It was really fun. Happy for the city Detroit.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
No question, I knew, I knew how a lot of
it you could sort of just hear it, right, But
I can't remember the last time Tariico and collins Worth
had double.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
Earpieces on to make sure.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
Yes, yes, so just from a broadcast and I was like,
oh my god, it is loud. I could tell it's loud,
and that's the type of atmosphere you want. The city
was just ready for I have so many friends who
were working that game and they were like, MJ, I
have never felt anything like this, Like this feels like
a super Bowl, and I would imagine for Detroit it
(14:29):
felt that way. I know that it felt that way,
and at a game that went back and forth, it
was incredible, Like that was exactly what we had been
waiting for all week and long, to see a game
like that that came down literally to the wire in
a twenty four to twenty three win. I think that
even that makes it. I'm sure they would have loved
to blow them out, but the fact that they true
(14:49):
to form for the Lions is a so on brand.
They had to fight for all of us, right.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
Yes they did, Yes, they did absolutely excellent.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
Point there a team that didn't show any fight that
ended up this season one and six where the Eagles
again the Bucks move on and they did what they
had to do. Got to give hat tip to Bake Bake,
Baker Mayfield playing well and the resurgence of Baker Mayfield.
And again think about he moves on, the Browns don't
(15:20):
so for him. I'm sure some poetic justice, just like
for Jared Goff. But this Eagles team right now just
feels in disarray. Sirianni is feeling the heat. There was
no tackling.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
To speak of. That just didn't seem.
Speaker 4 (15:36):
Like like they could wrap guys up and bring them down.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
And the Bucks had their way.
Speaker 4 (15:42):
And so now with Sirianni, you know, and the chatter
about what's going to happen with him, he's also going
to be down a guy in future Hall of Famer
Jason Kelsey, and he had reportedly informed his teammates that
he would be recording and this is what he actually
had to say with our guys Steve Why and James
(16:05):
Palmer on the NFL Report.
Speaker 9 (16:08):
Uh, you know this is going to be over pretty
soon here, you know, if it's this year, which very
well could be, you know, we want to make sure
that we're ready to go when when football is done
in that you know, I'm working all of these different
opportunities and things to figure out what it is we
want to do in retirement.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
I mean not sure.
Speaker 1 (16:32):
He was part of our broadcast boot camp last year
over at the NFL Network every year when we bring
in current and former players, and he was phenomenal. Him
and Travis do a fantastic job on their podcast. Is
he is he a new coworker or if we had
some right.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Ahead of yourself, But you never know. Yeah, I mean, hey,
come one, come all.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
I mean, he's had this decorated thirteen year career, gave
one of the most Yeah, yeah, for sure. I mean
he gave one of the most memorable post Super Bowl Parade.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
Aid speeches that we've seen.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
Were in that mommers alfit and the passion that he
had and all that he gave. That city's certainly a
Philly icon. They've had a lot of them there, but
he certainly left his legacy there in a great spot.
And you hated to see him also crying and upset
because he knew at that point in time that it was.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
Over for him in his career.
Speaker 4 (17:30):
So who knows, Maybe he's going to be a colleague
of ours at some point.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
In time.
Speaker 4 (17:34):
I mean, he certainly has the gift of gab brother does. Yeah,
we're just manifesting who knows. But we aren't manifesting a
guest because we do have a guest on the ll
hit podcast.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
We have Alfred le Boutierez of the forty nine Ers.
We're going to talk about him.
Speaker 4 (17:49):
Being a roommate of Rock Purty and if he saw
the success that we see now on the field from
the young signal Callu.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
That's coming up on the l Huddle Podcast with Will
and MJ.
Speaker 7 (18:10):
Joco, Jason Carga, Black Muscaca, Paros Box Yes, Intersoco, flac A,
La Clarenta, Paro se.
Speaker 10 (18:24):
Quinto, Nelson Crusna, Trina de Roqueo, dodge Stone, Texas, Spiva
Partido cam Yellows on the Delicious All That's Touchdom Bucket
the guy.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
If they say all.
Speaker 11 (18:39):
Right, another special Guestronos FAMILIAI and el Hao please welcome
in forty nine Ers offensive line up all the way
from originally Di Juana Andico Alfredo cut.
Speaker 5 (18:54):
Alfredo same same. Nice to see you guys, Nice to
be here with you guys, and I'm happy to do this.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
No, it's awesome. So one of the things we love
about your story is that you came from the International
Players Pathway program, which is so huge. We've seen so
many players. You played in Mexico and now getting to
be part of the forty nine ers. What has that
transition been like for you.
Speaker 5 (19:20):
It's been great because when I was a kid, I
thought coming to the NFL was like a like trying
to hit the moon with a rock, you know, wow.
And now with an IPP program, it's making dreams come
true for the for everybody like outside the United States
that's trying to play for the for a team in
the NFL. So being here being the transition everything coming here,
(19:45):
seeing you know, uh, like everything, even the emails. When
you receive an email or watching the NFL logo, it's
like a it's like an inspiration, like a dream come true.
So since since then, I've been so so happy to
be here.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
Well, we're happy to have you here.
Speaker 4 (20:02):
On the l Hudle podcast, we talk a lot of
Banguestra familiar Los Padres and the effect.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
That they've had on us. How well did they know
the game of football in Mexico.
Speaker 5 (20:16):
Oh well, I'm gonna be honest. When I got here,
I still I'm still learning the game of football because
it's too much. You're still learning. But in Mexico, we know,
you know the basic stuff. You know. The people in
Mexican still learning the you know techniques and all that.
But we know football. We know the NFL, we know
(20:37):
special college football. We love the NCAA college football. But
in Mexico, it's getting bigger every time, every year is
growing and I think in the near future it's gonna
be one of the top sports in Mexico.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
Oh no question. I can attest to that because I
was at Estadia'sta Cup. The forty nine ers were playing
there last year and it was wide crazy.
Speaker 5 (21:02):
My teammate is always saying, I came believe that we
have so many funds in Mexico and that's only one team.
I'm really happy being in the forty nine and we
have so many fans. But I know, uh, the co
has a lot of fans. To steel yourself with a
lot of fans. Uh, Patriots, they have a lot of fans.
So I know he's growing every time.
Speaker 3 (21:22):
So who were you a fan of that growing up?
Speaker 5 (21:25):
To be honest, I didn't. I didn't like like a
particular team. I just liked the NFL. But when I
used to play Madden when I was okay, I wanted
to have the best the best team you know, to
play and then win. So I used to play with
the Ravens and saying, say live in Tijuana. The border
(21:47):
was like right next to so, I mean San Diego.
I used to play with with with the Chargers too,
because you have the like David Thomas and he was
at ninety nine speed. So just for every time.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
Madden does it again, integral in in the education of
the NFL.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
It's such a great.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
Way to learn the game. For sure. Let's let's talk
about your squad, because everyone right now in Santa Clara
gearing up for the post even though you guys are
in fantastic positioning which no one is surprised about. And
the biggest of course, I don't want to say controversy,
but like debate point is your quarterback Rock Party, who
(22:26):
we heard was your roommate.
Speaker 5 (22:29):
Yeah, he was. The first year it was it was
kind of interesting. Uh you know, everything's expensive here in
we're trying to to save a little money and uh me,
Nick Sekel and brock Perty we came with the idea
just to be roommates and everything work out perfect. We
(22:51):
we we have like a really good relationship now like
a friendship, and and everything went smooth. But when he
when he became the starter, uh, we kind of like
chill now, you know. We we we let him be
do his thing. But since then we be like good friends.
Speaker 1 (23:08):
Wait so you're not roommates anymore.
Speaker 5 (23:10):
No, we're not rooms. I have a family now. So yeah,
well what.
Speaker 4 (23:18):
Did you see in Brock at that time when you
guys were rookies and you were living together, that you said,
you know, this guy has got something. I don't know
what it is, but he has something that's special and
that he could potentially do special things.
Speaker 5 (23:35):
Like I'm not a guru, but I'm not gonna say. Look,
I saw it. I saw it since the beginning. But
just watch the game against the Green Bay this preseason
game and you will see. You will see his talent.
He's hard just to try to win the game. Also
the Texas game of course, the Vikings, he was with
(23:57):
me in a couple of plays that that was my
first game that that I that I got to play.
So you can tell about watching the preseason games, he
got the heart of talent, and I saw him when
I even talked to my dad, and my dad and
I we were like saying, hey, you saw a number fourteen.
He's really good, right, it's gonna be my roommate. And yeah,
(24:18):
I mean I saw his talent, but I never knew
he was gonna be the starter for the San Francisco
for the nine ers.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
That quick, crazy, how things can change. Is he the
MVP to you?
Speaker 5 (24:34):
To me, it's the MVP proof Well, his dedication, Uh,
the way he leads the team and the way he
plays it makes me miss me thinking. It makes me
prove that he's a MVP.
Speaker 4 (24:47):
You know, Freda, you say that you have a family
now and you are from Tijuana. So what have you
brought from Tijuana from Mexico that you take with you
to Santa Clara, right.
Speaker 5 (25:01):
Like stuff like whatever?
Speaker 3 (25:03):
It is traditions. It could be cultural traditions.
Speaker 5 (25:07):
It could be I'll be honest with you, guys. The
first time I brought something was like a box of
tequila from Mexico. So you have to, you know, you
have to. They have to try the nice things. I
brought some for a few players that they wanted to.
(25:28):
What else, like tomal is candy. I have brought like
a few things. Yeah you need it. I haven't, but
that will be the next the next scene next week.
Speaker 4 (25:42):
Probably remember that because I would vacation with my family,
would drive from San Francisco to Tijuana to Rosa Tito Beach.
Yea a very long drive and we would go there
and I remember, you know, some of the food there
and the traditions, and there was a restaurant that we
(26:05):
would go to that was excellent.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
When it came to seafood, it was called Western Worldwide. Yeah,
so good.
Speaker 5 (26:15):
Oh, the rise of beans, the handmade to tillas, the lobster,
it's incredible. But yeah, the carlos, the massive pan. Have
you tried the mass and the massive pan is like
like round and and this is it's crazy. I'm gonna
try those and try to see if they like it
or not. I know they don't like the spicy stuff,
(26:36):
but I'll try that all this stuff.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
Yeah, give me some pan duel set too.
Speaker 5 (26:40):
They tried it. They tried it in November here and.
Speaker 3 (26:46):
They weren't into it.
Speaker 5 (26:48):
They were they were especially after practice. Okay, And and.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
Yeah, I feel like a sugar boot.
Speaker 4 (26:55):
Who are some of the guys who come up to
you and say, hey, Alfred though Espanol.
Speaker 5 (27:01):
George on number thirty UL some of the guys award
uh Fred Warner comes in and then we speak Spanish
for a little bit. Yeah, and I mean some of
the guys, even Trent Williams. Time to time. I can
(27:21):
see Trent, but yeah, George Kittle, but most of the
time is George. He's like every time. Even he bought
like books with basic words to so let's try to
speak U Spanish. That's awesome that he's trying to to
get like a even to his kids. You know, I
don't like to learn it in Spanish.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
Yeah, yeah, that's huge, of course not.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
My My brain is on food because I remember here,
especially in Los Angeles, so have like the the hot dogs,
like the Mexican hot dogs outside. Yes, but none of
them compare to the Little Lady outside of the Stadia
in Tijuana. But it just hits different down there.
Speaker 5 (28:02):
It's just I don't know what they I don't know
what they do is I don't know, especially when you
have a couple of beers on it. They hate different,
they hate different definitely.
Speaker 2 (28:13):
Okay, Well, the season's over, we gotta go to a
soccer batchel.
Speaker 5 (28:18):
Up there.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
Yeah, well, yeah, no, I'm all about it.
Speaker 5 (28:22):
You know.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
The other thing that I would have, just just again
thinking about my trips to ross Aita Beach, was we
would have oblas you ostis that have Gohta Yeah yeah.
Speaker 5 (28:33):
I still love them. They sell Like every time I
cross the border on car, there's the guy walking, you know,
and they said those stakes and my dad our spots,
you know that the whole the whole thing comes like
twelve because yeah, they're awesome. They're like the lad with
AA in this in the middle, like an oreo but
(28:54):
Mexican oreo.
Speaker 4 (28:56):
Right, yeah, you know, MG, if you haven't had it,
you gotta have gohita os ah because also like I
hit that and let's.
Speaker 3 (29:08):
Let's get that right.
Speaker 5 (29:10):
It's like it's like a.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
Peanut butter spread.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
I didn't know that that's what it was called. Yeah
you had it, but yeah that was I lived in
San Diego for two and a half years and I
want it on the food boy, Like there was.
Speaker 5 (29:24):
Nothing in l a incredible places to even here. We
have a really good places, but yeah, San Diego definitely
La so many.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
Yeah, so it's a good time. I mean we could
talk about food all day, but I do want to ask,
now that you were approaching the postseason, do you have
a key moment from from this year that sticks out
to you?
Speaker 5 (29:51):
Yeah, when we won the the Beach, I mean the
NFC first seed just came like two weeks ago. Yeah,
we were on the game watching, you know, everything getting
focused on Washington. But when we come to the locker room,
I was like, on the I didn't play. So we
(30:14):
have like a separate locker room and we have the
television and the Eagles that were playing the Cardinals. And
that was an incredible moment. I know, I liked it
so much because everybody was like so happy, enjoying, cheering,
hogging because we were watching how we won the first seed.
(30:35):
And I don't know, well, I know it's it's like
too too soon, but it was an incredible moment, and
it makes me realize how long is this season has been,
and and we needed we needed a We really needed
that first seed for sure.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
For sure, you get that extra week of rest before
we let you go.
Speaker 4 (30:56):
What have you noticed about the focus of the team
this week in preparation for the FoST season?
Speaker 5 (31:02):
You know, you know, it's incredible focus on like all
the way up from the head coach or even up
from John, it's come all the way down.
Speaker 7 (31:14):
You know.
Speaker 5 (31:15):
Players are staying longer here on the facility, doing recovery stuff,
getting extra studio film, talking to each other. I think
it's not like a typical bye week. Players are, especially
the Bats, that they know what they're trying to accomplish.
(31:36):
And you know, it makes me even stay here longer
in the facility and trying to be like them, you know,
because they're they focus one hundred percent. They're all in
on trying to get to the top.
Speaker 1 (31:50):
That does not surprise me.
Speaker 5 (31:53):
Christian Kittle, I can say we are seventy players or
maybe more. I think a sixty nine or seventy or
seventy one players are staying here to do something next
or like everybody, even the trainers or the quinan staff,
the pr people, everybody is doing something too, you know,
to try to push this team to get focused for
(32:15):
for the for the main goal, like for real, I'm
not I'm not even kidding.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
Yeah, yeah, no, I believe it for sure that that's complete,
on track and on brand.
Speaker 5 (32:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
Not just what the forty nine ers have done over
the last I don't know four five seasons, but certainly
what we've seen from all of you.
Speaker 5 (32:29):
Guys incredible right now. But this year is like, I mean,
it's it's always like this year because you know, it's
been two years, went into the NFC Championship. So now
these guys are like pushing everything. So we'll see, we'll
see what happened next week. Next week.
Speaker 1 (32:44):
I'm excited to watch you guys. I'm excited for you.
I can't wait, and we'll celebrate with a victory dog.
Speaker 5 (32:52):
Yeah, yeah, I can wait, Grand Fronto. I'm happy to
be here. It's been great. I like so much, so
I hope we mean it and want to try. Yeah, yeah,
(33:20):
that's meaning yes.
Speaker 10 (33:31):
When I was.
Speaker 3 (33:33):
From Puetro, Philadelia.
Speaker 5 (33:42):
Yes, the prey Popper a touch down man.
Speaker 1 (33:53):
So like the Cannons over there, Raymond James only gets
louder and louder. They certainly were last night. What a
game for the bucks. I'm still thinking about our our
friend Fredo and and all the food that we get
to have with him.
Speaker 3 (34:08):
Oh okay't wait in Tijuana of course less better.
Speaker 5 (34:13):
Yeah, thing about food. At this moment, I was.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
Thinking, wait a second, maybe I shouldn't otherwise.
Speaker 1 (34:19):
I mean, but now the playoffs continue, right like that
was just the wild card round. You guys, like this
is nuts this weekend, get a few more. I of
course have my eye squarely on that Green Bay San
Francisco game, like that's gonna be good.
Speaker 2 (34:38):
I know that Fred is hype for it.
Speaker 1 (34:41):
The the Niners needed needed some time to heal up.
Get this was like that first round by is so
crucial for these teams, so crucial, And no one plays
harder and more physical I think than that forty nine
ers squad. But there's something to be said about that
little magic spark. So I think I'm hoping that it
(35:02):
is a very competitive game that we're in it.
Speaker 3 (35:05):
You know, I absolutely agree.
Speaker 4 (35:06):
You want it to be competitive, and you want the
forty nine ers to be healthy and at one percent
to at least go into this knowing that they have
a shot with with everybody available, you know, like Christian mccaffreck,
for example, had that mild CAP's brain, he's now practicing.
Eric Armstead he's been dealing with a foot injury and
(35:27):
he's going to be limited, and he's a big presence
in the middle for them, especially against the run. And
the one thing is, you know that is concerning if
you're a forty nine Ers fan, is whether the time
off has made them lose their edge. Where the Packers
are coming in again a young team with seemingly nothing
(35:49):
to lose, and this this team is built differently. In
Jordan Love we saw him carving up that Dallas secondary.
You know, he's he's coming and and they they better
have the schemes to not only stop him, but to
have guys like Bosa and bring the pressure, dial it up.
(36:10):
And I think that's really key. So it's good to
see the forty nine ers top seed, a top seed
rather back in action on Saturday.
Speaker 3 (36:17):
The same with the Ravens.
Speaker 4 (36:18):
It feels like we have seen them in forever and they're,
you know again this Houston team that is playing with
nothing to lose as well, and can't can't overlook them either,
you know, the two upstarts against the two one seeds, this.
Speaker 1 (36:35):
Is gonna be awesome. I'm really excited for that. I
think Tampa Detroit also on the Sunday two teams playing
with a lot of heart, a lot a lot of
heart for Detroit of course, having the game back.
Speaker 3 (36:50):
At home, I'm not having it in thirty years, right
back to back.
Speaker 2 (36:55):
Back to back, phenomenal for them. That's great.
Speaker 4 (36:57):
And then Chiefs.
Speaker 12 (36:58):
Bills, I feel like we've been waiting for this one
for all the Bills have because they wanted to have
it in their turf, right, they want to have it
at home, Yes, And so.
Speaker 3 (37:09):
They have it and I have the homes. I did ask.
Speaker 1 (37:13):
I did ask my dad after the great blizzard of
the wild Card weekend. I was like, Boppy, if they
give you tickets, they say, here you go wherever you
want to sit. You got to go to watch your
team in the playoffs at Orchard Park?
Speaker 2 (37:30):
Are you going just rode back?
Speaker 5 (37:32):
No?
Speaker 1 (37:35):
Like, are you crazy?
Speaker 2 (37:36):
Nah, I'm from the Caribbean. I'm not going to that.
And He's like, we left New York for a reason.
Speaker 4 (37:42):
Yeah, yeah, no way, He's he's uh going in person,
but he's definitely going to be watching it.
Speaker 3 (37:47):
That's gonna be.
Speaker 2 (37:49):
Yeah house in Florida.
Speaker 5 (37:53):
Yes.
Speaker 4 (37:53):
But then also like another injury for the Bills. You
know with Terrell Bernard, I know I was who integral.
That is rough to see and and you just want
to see all the these teams be healthy. One hundred
percent going into these games, you want to see them
at the very best. So you want to see the
best out of Josh Allen and if he plays without
(38:15):
turnover free, I think I think that's going to be massive.
Speaker 13 (38:19):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (38:20):
Now, this takes us to our eto, and we would
be remiss if we didn't mention the potential for coaching
turnover that could be ahead. And we had touched upon
the Eagles loss to the Bucks and how the city
of Philadelphia is reacting and certainly talk radio boards lighting up.
Speaker 14 (38:45):
Well, this is what.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts had said after the loss.
Speaker 14 (38:54):
I think, but are you concerned at all about your jobs?
Speaker 13 (38:56):
Like I just said to you know, like I just
said over here, I'm not thinking about that. I'm thinking
about the guys.
Speaker 5 (39:03):
Again.
Speaker 13 (39:03):
There's a lot of guys in that line locker room,
all the guys in that locker room, every single one
of them that put their heart and soul into us.
Speaker 5 (39:09):
I'm not worried about me. I'm not I'm worried. I'm
not worried.
Speaker 13 (39:12):
I'm I'm you know, as the head coach. I'm just
trying to be there for our guys and our staff
right now.
Speaker 14 (39:20):
My number one message is is just to use every
moment as an opportunity to.
Speaker 5 (39:24):
Learn and grow.
Speaker 14 (39:25):
And you know, it may not show now, but it
will show, you know. And as I said, it wasn't
our turn. It's not our turn. We've had the opportunities,
we've had the crumbs, we've had everything to our.
Speaker 5 (39:39):
Disposal, but it wasn't our turn.
Speaker 14 (39:42):
And I can I can accept that, and I think
we can accept that knowing that there's the sun will
rise tomorrow and there will be another opportunity to to
attack it.
Speaker 3 (39:57):
Well, I'll say this about Hurts.
Speaker 4 (40:00):
He did not look like he was particularly healthy, especially
second half of the season. I think that's, you know
something I was a contributing factor. I think that teams
would blitz the Eagles like crazy, and they wouldn't have
the answers for that. And this is just the x's
and o's aspect of it. It didn't feel like, you know,
(40:22):
receivers were getting the the separation. I think that would
have helped him out maybe a little bit more. Uh So,
just overall, we we talked about the tackling or lack
of tackling on the defensive side, where in the second
I remember they got Kevin Byer from from the Titans.
They ended up getting Shaq leonard O Waivers. You know,
(40:44):
they've got Bradbury, they got Slay, They've got these playmakers.
Speaker 3 (40:47):
And you know, is it is it coaching?
Speaker 4 (40:50):
And it's been suggested already, Well, maybe Bill Belichick should
go to the Eagles.
Speaker 5 (40:56):
Maybe he doesn't go to Dallas.
Speaker 3 (40:57):
Why not with the Eagles.
Speaker 4 (41:02):
I don't see it either, But you know it's just
like after the knee jerk reactions things throwing out there.
I don't think so either. How can you forget what
Sirianni has done here over the last.
Speaker 2 (41:14):
Apparently apparently in Philly they could forget very good.
Speaker 3 (41:16):
Yea, they turn on them.
Speaker 2 (41:18):
They turn on them very quickly. Brutal, absolutely brutal. But
so it goes in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (41:24):
Man, like I get what Jayalen is saying in terms
of like, well this was the result, right.
Speaker 2 (41:29):
We can't turn back the clock.
Speaker 5 (41:30):
We can't.
Speaker 1 (41:31):
All we can do now is reset for the next season.
But I know that's going to piss off a lot
of Philly fans, like they want to see him upset
about it, and I think you can see that he's dejected,
that he is upset that he is. Of course, he's
probably not gonna go to good night's sleep, of course,
but it is what it is, Like, you got to
finish it out.
Speaker 2 (41:50):
And we had been talking about the Eagles not.
Speaker 1 (41:52):
Winning even though they were winning, not winning convincingly pretty
much throughout the season, and then things took a turn.
So you can almost say the writing was on the
wall about what what could have come down? Come down
the road for this Philly scene, Like there the mojo
was just not the same as it was last year
for sure.
Speaker 3 (42:12):
Yeah, yeah, no, I totally agree.
Speaker 4 (42:14):
And so we mentioned Belichick and that seemed to be
inevitable between him and the Patriots. But now he's interviewing
and the Falcons as of this recording, had interviewed him.
So you wonder, like how those discussions go. Can you
tell us the time, you know, not too long ago,
(42:34):
where your team was behind, you had amount of comeback
and you won, Like can you imagine, like what are
they talking about there?
Speaker 5 (42:40):
Exactly?
Speaker 2 (42:41):
What are your strengths and.
Speaker 5 (42:44):
Exactly?
Speaker 3 (42:45):
Please tell us?
Speaker 4 (42:46):
So see him on the interview circuit. It seems a
little it seems a little weird right and out of place,
but that's what's happening right now? And then Jim Harbaugh,
fresh off of Michigan winning the National Championship against Washington,
he then had his interview with the Chargers. Yeah, and
you know he's been wanting to get into the NFL.
(43:08):
He hired a well known agent in the NFL circles
who's represented.
Speaker 3 (43:16):
Some some big names, and.
Speaker 4 (43:20):
Yeah, power move completely and you know I could see
him coming back too. Like this this thing is that
this coaching that this coaching period that we're in right
now is a fascinating one because there's a lot of
big names out.
Speaker 3 (43:34):
There, Like where's Mike Vrabel go? Like what makes sense
for him?
Speaker 4 (43:38):
It's not like he was a complete scrub. I mean
he led his team to the AFC Championship game. You know,
he had some success in Tennessee.
Speaker 1 (43:45):
So appearances for sure, Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 3 (43:47):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (43:49):
We have like some real big up and combers and
then some just absolute legends of the game who are
still in it right who still want to want to
be out there. So all right, twenty twenty four, we
see you just yeah, we into it, my goodness, and
we have and then just what is it three.
Speaker 3 (44:07):
Weeks not even Yeah, with the super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (44:11):
Yeah, I can't even wrap my head I just bought
a suitcase. Can't even wrap my head around packing.
Speaker 4 (44:18):
Let's not get there just yet, not just yet. Let's
enjoy right now. Let's make sure that you're on the mend.
Speaker 1 (44:26):
I'm working on that with my therapist, to be in
the moment and not look too far ahead.
Speaker 2 (44:30):
What can we do. We're talking about our goal division
divisional round.
Speaker 1 (44:34):
It's gonna be awesome.
Speaker 3 (44:35):
Let's do it. Let's do a premium mine.
Speaker 4 (44:37):
Honestly, I hope you feel better, you sound better, but
I know you're not at one hundred percent, so I
appreciate you as always that.
Speaker 1 (44:47):
Right, Thank you, my friend. Love you mean it?
