Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's time for this week's episode of the Split Ends podcast.
All Yeah, what a splitches. It is a very special
edition of Split Ends live from Indianapolis. I'm your host,
colleguen Wolf within Erica tamp Posy. Happy to be back
at Combine this year. We're just hanging out in the
(00:22):
media room here on a riser and there's coaches talking
behind us. It's kind of overwhelming. There's a lot going on.
I'm like really overstimulated right now. There's like seventeen thousand
sets and cameras and lights and all of it. There's
a lot of people around. Yeah, well, the NFL world
is here. This is like a conference for the NFL.
And everywhere you go you see people wearing their lanyards,
(00:44):
their green lanyards. There's like it's like a starter pack
basically that you get, I think when you check into
a hotel. So you get the underarm revisor, you get
the dad glasses, the windbreaker material like all of it,
and so any type of swag that you have from
years past, you wear it. I have a Super Bowl
jacket from three years ago. It's better if it's more obscure.
(01:06):
The older it is, the better. It's great, So, um,
you can't really like walk down the street though, Christ
the chair already and I the whole thing just fell.
Oh my god. We haven't even been recording for like
many seconds. So um. Yeah, So there's a real head coaches,
(01:26):
physical flesh of head coaches humans behind Pete Carroll's talking
right now, Mike McDaniel's over there. So they're all in
their podiums. Luckily, majority of the cameras are facing the
opposite way of where I just ate s h I
T do you think that happens to the coaches? I
bet they have nicer chairs than what we're on. We're
in between two sets and ours is basically two chairs
(01:49):
up on a little riser. Um. So I will be
suing the NFL for my wow, what an announcement workplace
injury split ends exclusive only you can only you're at
here gang. So it's such a weird and funny event
because everywhere you go, you're walking down the street, you
walk in a restaurant, you run into a head coach
(02:10):
or a GM and we're gonna have one stopping by
and a little bit on the show. That's right, an
old pal we go way back. Seriously, Philadelphia Eagles head
coach Nick Siriani is going to join the show. We
have a lot of questions for him. Um, Erica, how's
your week been so far? Because I got in here early,
I've been here for multiple days at this point. Came
(02:31):
out to Indie to hang out with my dad for
a few days. He was in town, so he stayed
a couple of DRIs he flew flew from Philly, um,
and then we went over to the speedway, Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
I m s, I'm like a huge Indie head. Now
that's what they call them, I think. So it was
really really cool though. There's a museum there with all
(02:53):
these cool old cars, and got to kiss the bricks
and then had a bunch of steaks already. Oh my god,
I've eaten so much steak that I can't do it anymore.
But guess what, I'll do it again tonight. Like I
can't stop eating steak. And also you know when it's
especially when it's expensed by NFL, I'm like, I'm not
going to leave a free seventy dollar steak on my plate.
(03:15):
So I pushed myself through pain that to finish it.
Not a great plan, No, it's horrible. I am ill
and I'm also thirty now, so I travel with like
an acid tablets Hartburn. Yeah, I mean I was doing
that since twenty so it seems like a health issue.
You're in grade shape. That's definitely me issue. So um,
(03:36):
we have dinner coming up tonight, more steaks, and I
know that you have a lot of headlines too, I
do it. Yeah, Well, what are before we get to that?
What are you doing? You're doing a bunch of stuff
on the field. Oh my god, what am I not doing?
Do you have a binder? Are you ready? I have
the Combined Research Packet binder that's like seven thousand read
it cover to cover and I can recall all that
(04:01):
information so fast, I believe. So I'm not even gonna
ask at all. I don't do quizzes. I'm a terrible
test taker into it. We'll do it. Do you do
you have PTSD? From seeing that smoothie clip from a
couple of years ago resurfacing, the smoothie was good. It
was not the ingredients again, okay, it was so Ben Bartch.
(04:21):
He had this smoothie just to maintain and gain weight,
gain weight. So in the smoothie it was. Let me
see if I can remember, I know, red gatorade and grits,
scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, peanut butter, a banana and like
grits or something might be it. No, I think that
(04:42):
was oatmeal oatmeal, right, yeah, oatmeal and cottage cheese. The
cottage cheese, thankfully we did not have when we did
the whole smoothie thing at the combine, but it was
I think I put half a jar of peanut butter
the blender, so it was mostly just peanut butter. It
(05:02):
masked everything. Yeah, so you know it was a little chunky. Yeah, yeah,
the consistency kind of threw me a bit, but not bad.
And you only had a sip, right, You're not You
weren't trying to prep for the off season, well season,
that's what they call it, buoking season. Yeah, just just
(05:22):
a sip and then I gotta watch my figures. So
you weren't trying to get chunky. Just drink a chunky
chunky that's it right there. That's so stupid, all right,
But you're probably doing a bunch right like, yeah, they
have I'm doing some Twitter spaces. I think I'm doing
a Twitter space tomorrow. Which is Thursday with M J
d and A J. Dillon. They're running back from the Packers,
(05:44):
so that will be a fun one. I'm doing a
couple of other Twitter spaces and Instagram lives and I'll
be on the field running around just doing all sorts
of stuff, seeing what's going on on the eyes and
the ears of the people's amazing. Have you ran a
forty before? I have, No, I don't run. I was
going to make it and see like what my time was. Yeah,
(06:04):
I probably could walk it in twelve seconds. Maybe, I
don't know. Maybe I was thinking about what could we
could speed walk it? Oh, we could skip it. We
could um crab crawl. Oh that would be good. We
should probably do some of that stuff. Yeah, I was
thinking about maybe doing like seeing how fast I could
(06:27):
walk and text a statement without any typos. Oh that's
really good. That's really good. I'm excited. So you're probably
on you know, TV, you're doing social digital, you're on
all of this, so you know, I wanted to make
it easy for you as always, Yeah, and put all
the major headlines in one place where you all you
have to do is like just tell me if you
think they're hot or not log them in the brain,
(06:49):
keep them, tuk them away, and that way you were
prepped for the rest of the week. Wonderful. Yeah, of course,
So let's hit our little headline, Chetah. Amazon reportedly offered
Sean McVeigh a hundred million, five year contract, but he
turned it down to stay with the Rams. A hundred
million dollars. Now this makes a lot more sense now
(07:10):
knowing that as the reason why he was maybe thinking
about stepping away. But come on, I would take the money.
Oh my god, how do you turn that down? I
understand he's a football guy and he loves the game. Damn,
that's a lot of money and we love I heart
put Amazon, I you need two spledges, like for I
(07:31):
half for half half. Yeah. Absolutely. The Dolphins were allegedly
courting Brady and Shawn kay In for next season before
the Flora's lawsuit came out. Damn, Miami, she was your shot. Seriously,
the Staints would never allow it because he's still under contract,
and they declined the Dolphins request to even talk to him.
But Bruce arians then talked the other day I think
(07:53):
it was yesterday, and he said that it would take
like five first round picks to trade by and the
Sky idea. But good job, guys. Absolutely so. Kyler Murray's
agent put out a weird ask cryptic post with Kyler's demands,
but Steve Kime during combine presser says he's not worried
about a holdout, and then the following day the Cardinals
extended that's today. I'm both head coach Cliff Kingsbury and
(08:15):
GM Steve Kimes. So either Kyler is about to get
paid big time or he's out the door. He's gonna
get paid. The statement that um Rick Eric Burkhardt put
out was an aggressive move, Oh my god. And there
was no accountability whatsoever from Kyler in that statement. And
(08:38):
I just feel like if you are a team oriented quarterback,
like you need to take some type of like ownership
and responsibility for the team. And I can't imagine being
in that locker room and seeing like that's my quarterback
and that's what he's doing, Like that's a very me
move and not a team move, right, but spelled team.
Then there's a man. But it is interesting because Berry
(09:00):
Burkhart also reps. He reps kicks party and Kyler Murray
so which is which is pretty pretty pretty crazy and
also too, they were touting that his um, you know,
his playoff run and all this kind of stuff. It's
like Matthew Stafford outrushed you in that game, like at
those stats, like you speak on it, Like, come on,
you want to talk about that playoff game that you
lost brutally after the whole team fell off a cliff.
(09:23):
I mean that this is the whole this is the
whole issue though with Kyler, and this is the whole
reason why the team was like came out and they said,
we need him to take more responsibility in terms of
leadership and maturity, and then he scrubbed his old Instagram started.
So I don't know, it doesn't seem like it's working out.
Definitely not so. Ten years ago, the most iconic all
(09:45):
time sports moment of all time occurred. What strike to elam?
Strike exclaim it? Why are you? And that's why? What
do you do? Why? Oh my god, who do you
(10:10):
think you are? I? I am? And then he just
keeps going off, screaming, screaming awards. Yeah, that was ten
years ago this week, which I think goes in the
Hall of Fame of best sports moment of all time.
We should tell the listeners what what it was? So
Pete Webber, big bowler, huge an icon. I think that
I think he stepped away from the lane um recently.
(10:33):
But he knows how to wear a pair of sunglasses,
that guy. And actually he did a celebrity golf tournament
a few years ago with TiO Terrell Owens and TiO
also sported the sunglasses. It's just like my favorite thing
ever that like he bowls, uh what, I guess it's
like a good thing or about like he ei there
(10:54):
does Uh, I'm not a bowler. I don't know. Yeah,
he got a strike I think to win a tournament
and then he rips the shades and then he ripped
him He's like, who do you think you are? I am?
It's just the most Okay, that's fantastic and I'm going
to say that all the time now. Absolutely. The NFL
Competition Committee will discuss a proposal by the CULT to
(11:14):
guarantee each team of possession in ot per Judy Batista
other teams. Like the bills of submitted proposals for an
o t change as well, like sort of just a
time limit stuff like that. So maybe we might have
some overtime changes coming up. I feel like this is
a theme every year, but obviously more so there's like
so much more of a spotlight on it after the
(11:36):
Chiefs Bills game, but then it kind of lost a
little momentum when the Bengals beat the Chiefs. So I
was just thinking about, like, what what do you think
Josh Allen is think paying? Do you think he right now? Uh? Yeah,
they need twenty four votes for it to pass, so
we'll see. But I don't like the fact that they
want to do regular season two. I'm like, yeah, you
can keep that in the regular season this season. Let's
(12:00):
just do that. But the rule right now that's up
is for both regular and postseason. Absolutely. The Buccaneers announced
that they're bringing back their creamsicle uniforms for throwback games
in Yeah, well it was. It's been delayed until three
because supply chains. I mean, they're just not going off
like so, I know. The Seahawks are having an issue
(12:21):
like that as well. They're having some issue with their manufacturer,
so they're so I know, do you know why I'm
sound because the Eagles are supposed to bring back Kelly
Green this year, and I'm like worried that there's going
to be supply chain issue. You're like Kelly Green figure here.
It's like Colleen's late to the set today recording. I'm like,
(12:43):
where are you? She's like, oh, sorry, I was on
a supply chain Reddit studying the trucker, you know, like
roots or whatever. Stroke Odell Beck Jr. Announced birth of
his child m z Ziden. How would you say that is?
Didn't Zaden? Zaden? Zaden? Uh? Splitches? Let us know, yes
(13:07):
splitches or O b J. If you're listening, Um, what
is your child's name? But it's z y d n
So yeah Zaden? I think yeah? Um with model fitness
influencer girlfriend Lauren would to congrats to them. I plugged
in on this because, well, this is how I spent
my morning, like time used very wisely. Let me do
I'm really good at prioritizing thing things and time management.
(13:28):
Today it's a little bit of a struggle. So the
supply train wait, so odawackom Jr. Imagine the week that
he had because he won the Super Bowl obviously towards
a c L then welcomes the new son into the world.
I mean, that's a lot of emotions in one week.
But I also saw that this was a three hour
home birth. What that they did? That she did and
(13:50):
he was therefore obviously because he was to be part
of it. That to me sounds like a nightmare. Yeah,
I can't. First of all, like, you know, birthing a
child in general sounder, but doing it at home, um,
that would not be for me. And then someone on
the rams parade bus told me that they were YouTube
you on the rams parade bus. No, but someone that
(14:12):
was on the bus, someone who was got off the
bus and told, you know, somebody texted me from the
bus from the bus and said that they were youtubing
how to deliver a baby. It was this person and
Andrew Witworth and uh in case Odell's girlfriend went into
labor during the parade, was she on the Yeah? God, wow,
(14:35):
that is the split of the week, how about it? Absolutely.
He also shaved his head and governed to the purple locks,
so oh and I saw he like shaded the giants too,
which was amazing because someone was like, oh see you
see you back at the Metal Ends next year, bra,
and he was like nah, Like I don't want to
be a problem or a locker room cancer with like
a bunch of laughing emojis. Oh my god, Petty O
(14:57):
b J. Obviously we are the Petty Podcast. Were for it,
We live for it. Um. Speaking of Petty, the Green
Bay Packers tweeted a graphic after the International Game News
broke that they'll be going overseas and didn't include Davante
Adams or Aaron Rodgers on the abbey Road graphic. So
we're all reading into this of course, but are they
getting I guess they're just covering themselves, which they're on
(15:21):
the team now. So for me, I think if I
was in the social department, I'd be like, why am
I just gonna stir up the petty pot? Well, because
that's what they do on social That's like, this is
exactly what they wanted. And do you think that Rogers
or Davante Adams cares one ounce about this? Not m maybe,
but maybe they're like, oh, they cut me out of
the graphic. There's no world, but that's happening. Well, splitches,
(15:44):
you heard it here first, um, Gazelle bunch In, who
is Tom Brady's wife, posted a video of her impressive
jiu jitsu takedown, and then Tom Brady quote tweeted it
saying that's the last time I leave dishes in the
sink again. But yeah, like come on, like she flipped
over some guy, which badass by her. She's like, I
wanted to start doing jiu jitsu to be able to
defend myself. I'm like, good for you. And then Tom,
(16:05):
that's the last time I leave. I don't care that
you're the greatest of all times. Also like they have
like personal chefs and stuff like everybody your life. Um,
but like also has Tom Brady and retired yet not
quite but I'm waiting for the day. Wait wait, so um,
I've never done jujitsu, but I so my dad one
(16:28):
year when I was in college, he got me a
quote unquote present that it was self defense classes. And
I'm going to school at Drexel in the city and
he got these classes like right around the corner from
their house, which is forty five minutes from college. And
so I'm like, oh jeez. So I'm like the day before,
(16:52):
so I drive the forty five minutes to the class.
Was it one time or was it like this was
like a package that he bought me, so I had
to commit to it and he spent all this money
and I'm sitting in the parking lot and I'm calling
my mom and I'm like, Mom, I really don't want
to go inside. Like it's a bunch of like moms
dropping off their nine year old boys in vans to
their karate class. And it wasn't even like self defense.
(17:14):
It was like a legit, just like I have a
white belt. So I go in and I'm like, I
think I'm a sophomore and you're the same size as
the thought exactly, so it's so it's good and easy
to grapple with them. Basically so year old chuck. They
were chucking me. But wait, so I walk my mom's like, Colleen,
(17:38):
just do it. Your dad spent a lot of money
on this. So I'm like okay, and I'm like walking
in and I look over on the mat and there's
my dad in a gee stretching and my dad's like
a picture Larry David in a gee trying to stretch.
So we did the self defense karate classes together? Did
it with you? That's so dude? But also is uh
(18:03):
speaking of not hilarious, Jackson Mahomes ripped off a snack
company by asking for a free product they sent him,
and they sent him a two h fifty basket and
then he went ghost. What's so? He so basically he
DM this company was like yo, I love your snacks,
and they were like, hey, you have like a million
followers or whatever. We'll send it to if you post
us help you help us out because they're at the startup.
(18:26):
And he's like, of course, yeah, absolutely, I got you. Whatever.
They sent him the two hifty basket and then d
M him. They put screenshots of like literally ten times
over a couple of weeks being like hey, man says deliver,
can you post about it? Like hey? And then and
so now he's getting hey Jane later, what's up? Jane's
later just cartwheeled behind us. We're seeing everyone here, I
(18:49):
know is great. I feel like we're in a um
lighthouse a little bit like a watch tower situations. But
everyone can watch us too, like we're watching it. I
don't everyone's watch were Josh McDaniels is up on the podium.
Oh my god, that's cool. I was also next to
West Welker last night. It was I just looked at
him because I was like, that was a Patriots like
(19:10):
legend and that was like my first like I and
my first jersey was a West Welker Jersey and like
which just grew up loving him. So I'm like sitting
at the bar next like last night, next them, and
I was just like, wait, we also ran into Nick Siriannia.
We'll get into that. Yeah, we didn't run into him.
We um aggressively approached. That's a great way to put it. Um.
(19:32):
So you know, Kelly and Matt Stafford, we're talking on
Kelly's podcast and they shared a fun story about her
favorite spot. Oh my god, can we talk about Delilah?
It is honestly my favorite spot I have been. Yeah,
we've been to the one in l A before, which
is an amazing venue too. This one has a little
bit of a different feel, as all restaurants do in
(19:54):
different places. And uh, I mean the build out, the room. Yes,
it was just like, let's go to Delilah again time
between between eight thirty when dinner ended and one thirty
when we had to be at Excess. So this was
just all right, drinking cappuccinos in the back, trying to
keep our eyes open. So did they did the Staffords
do our move go to dinner at eight thirty oh
(20:17):
until one thirty? See if that's a pro move right.
Do you think they listen? You know what? I think
that they were. Like the only way we could get
in is if we go to dinner at five o'clock. Um.
Of all the places I've never been, Delilah is my favorite. Yeah. Absolutely.
I went once briefly a couple of weeks ago. It
was like five pm. So, uh, Mike Rabel's walking by.
(20:38):
Justin are one of our producer friends. Here, we're gonna
just very obsessed. Same check everyone who passes by. Yeah,
so he's walking by, Um, I might wave if he
looks this direction. He didn't even glance over. Okay, over
to your right, does Kevin O'Connor, and if your coach? Ye,
yeah absolutely. I eat the one what's like what is
it called the conicle or like monicle is a one
(20:59):
eye but like the thing the telescope? Yeah, I need
like a one one eyed telescope. Well, I feel like
is one is one? Uh yeah, this is horrible. Dropping
waters my chair broke. We're just calling us up. Mark
Sessler sitting in a floral shirt like cross legged. I
like his shirt. I do too, I do too. I
(21:21):
know he's going to take shots for it though. Oh
definitely he's got to so last, but not least, Joe
Burrow didn't want to wait for next season to compete.
He's back already, calling small. What's he doing smiling on
the golf course with fellow os U teammate Devin Booker.
Oh a k A. Kendall Jenner's boyfriend, and look at
me doing pop culture stuff. I know you're prepped. It's great.
(21:44):
He was also with Sam Hubbard and he was with
Nick Bosa too, so like the whole buck A squad there. Um.
But it's a huge offseason for Joe Burrow too because
he reaggravated, re injured that knee and he's going to
rest instead of have surgery. But I'm glad he's resting
on the links. Yeah, that's what I would do too.
(22:04):
I'm a huge golf head and it doesn't matter what
golf the heads golf heads heads up check, it's all
in the hips. Yeah, absolutely, So you're all caught up, Bud.
That's awesome. Thank you joining us now. We are so
(22:32):
excited about this. He took the Eagles to the playoffs
in his first year as a head coach. He's ready
to run it back already. He's a lot taller than
I thought he was going to be as well. Head
coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, Nick Sirianni, Welcome to the show.
Thanks for coming by, Thanks for having me. Uh so,
I heard the potholes are back in Philly. They're like
so awful. Tell me everything, what's going on there? There
(22:54):
is one when I get onto the to the highway
where which it hits from my car. Pretty good. I
think I need a couple of new help calfs. But
uh yeah, okay, So you were the first, the second
coach in franchise history to take the Eagles to the
playoffs in your first year as a head coach. Do
you walk into a wall like, yeah, I'm not dude.
You know, I need to go to War War more.
(23:15):
But I live in Jersey, so I don't ever have
to go into a gas station. They just fill it
up there for you. It's so nice when it's cold
out right, it's very nice. But I also very well
know that we didn't win that playoff game, and our
goals are very much more than just getting into the playoffs.
I want to talk about fighters and highlighters. Don't give
(23:37):
us the political answers, Just be like, yeah, I wake
up and I look in the mirror and I'm like, yes, Nick,
go off King. He's uh, he said that he's dropping
some weight. He's working on himself in the off season.
I mean, we aren't we all. I'm trying to you know,
we're competing as a staff, where all of us are
trying to drop a little bit of body fat, a
little bit of weight, and so there's a little bit
(23:58):
of a second core value is competing, and so we
got to practice what we preach, and so our whole
coaching staff except for Gannon. Gannon's like got a six
pack and yeah, he's he's cut, he's yeah, so he's
not even allowed to be in it because he couldn't
win anyway because he's already at like, so all of us,
heavier coaches, all right, are trying to I don't understand
(24:20):
that pounds overweight, fifteen pounds more than my dad and
my brothers they're both older than me. Are the Syrianni
body is supposed to weigh about to ten. I'll let
you guys do the bath, all right, that's what we're
supposed to weigh. I love that everything is a competition
like this. I can relate because I feel the same
way in my life. Like every competition, yeah, you know,
(24:41):
like I'm about fifteen over as well. Uh sweet, So
hold on your The whole staff competes, Like what tell
me walk me through that? What is that? What do
you mean? So it's not just yeah, we just so
we got into the bod pod be whatever that's called,
and we did our body fats and that was you know,
in our in our weight and for some of us
that was hard build the swallow and uh. And there's
(25:02):
competition to it, and there's there's prize at the end.
I don't know exactly what it is yet. Who took
it the worst? Too? I think I would. I might
have been up there with the who took it the worst?
So you guys can figure out that means um and
we just compete in everything. I mean, that's what's that's
what's awesome about being on a team. We get I'm
on a I'm forty years old and I'm still on Man,
(25:23):
I could have went that way, but I'm still on
a team. And how awesome is that? Like it's unbelievable.
And so we compete, and like our whole thing about
competing is when you compete you get closer with the
other person you're competing with. Like my best friends in
the world are from college and from high school, and
I competed with him more than anybody ever competing. Now.
There was fist fights, and there was arguments, and there
(25:43):
was all sorts of things. We hated each other for
a little bit, but all it all, it brought us closer.
So you're trying to do that as a team as
much as you possibly can. So we did well. It's
not just that. Like we put a pickleball court into
our indoor pa the other day because Shane Stike and
he he's huge, like he's long, and like he got
he got one up over my head. I had to
(26:04):
run back and I had to hit it back over
and then he did a little dropshot on me. I'd
sprint up and then I rolled my ankle on that.
What do you mean, I mean that fifteen it's going
to stay there. It's all about it, all about diet. Yeah,
I'm learning that more and more. And I can still
get on the pelms are made in the kitchen, absolutely,
So we're here at the combine. You were a wide
(26:25):
receiver in college. I saw in your senior year you
got thirteen touchdowns, that dude. Okay, So that right, I
hope research. I hope that I've matured in my life
that in my senior year of college when I was saying,
I'm that dude act a little different than I think
about it now. So as a wide receiver, does hand
(26:45):
size matter? As I've pen all over my like, does
hand size matter? Yeah? I mean of course, right, you know,
so you want as you're catching the ball, the bigger
your hand, the easier it's gonna. I know where you're
going with this. I'm just I'm just wonder to weird
part of the combine. And I hate when I have
to talk about it earnestly on the network. When I
have to talk hand size, it's just it's a lot
(27:07):
and I feel like our whole control room is laughing.
Everyone's laughing. Um. So you know, like everything matters in
this league, right, mean, every score comes down to one drive.
So it's like, okay, let's say player a little small
hands over the ball. Let's say they all have everything
is the same. At Joe Burrow, like that was his
whole thing. It was like, oh, small, tiny hand with you.
(27:30):
But it's not the only thing that you take, right.
It's everything is a piece of the puzzle. So it's like, Okay,
this player is the exact same as this player, all right,
and and everything his mentality, his accuracy or whatever it is,
it's catching and this players they're the same. Well, this
guy's hands are a little bit bigger, all right. Well
maybe that's the side of factory. I don't know. You know,
it never comes down to that close of a race,
(27:51):
right right, But it all matters at the end of
the day. It all matters, and every detail matters. So
we run into you last night, Well we aggressively hornered
you last night. Um so did that give you second
thoughts about doing the show today or did you wake
up like hell, oh my god, I'm so excited. No,
but I second thought the visor thing and not the okay, yeah,
(28:15):
let's break it down, get into this. So you are
a big visor guy, and you like to normally put
the highlighters on the side, and I I love binders,
I love office supplies. I'm a big highlighter girl. I
have highlighters in my bag right now. Your favorite store
is Office Max or yeah, Staples is still around, and
(28:37):
I'm keeping them in business. Like I have a printer
print that's crazy to me, I know, just funny to
my house or office, Max and clothes. Yeah, I'm saying,
but it doesn't matter into what are you talking about?
Visor or you're just saying in general supplies give me
(29:00):
off his supplies. I like organization can um yeah, so
let's but you said that you are ditching the highlighters,
well and the whole thing. You can't so it want
like I do keep the pencil there, and then if
it is colder, I'm not going to wear the visor
because I think that's a little great. So I put
(29:20):
the Actually make fun of Kevin Petula because he wears
the visor and he's going a little thin up top,
and I'm like, why why would you not put the
full hat on? Because every time we're looking at a
camera shot and we see them back and you and
I look a little bit you saw Kevin, right, Vinula
and I who's our past game corner? We look a
little bit of light like I don't want someone I
(29:41):
know it's not me. Yes, I wasn't taking, but I
knew it wasn't right there. Kevin's about into Kevin's gray
about fifteen pounds lighter than I am. Never that's the goal.
That's the goal. Right there, you have a highlighter dealer, like,
who's your guy? But I think can you help that get? Yeah?
I got you, Like mcvey's got the mcveigh's got the
(30:02):
chunky soup stuff. But he had to go to the
super Bowl before he got that, and then he wanted
to do I can only imagine what endorsements he's gonna
get now. Um, but I would like I would do
the highlighter. Who was the announcer, the college basketball announcer
that always wore the highlighter? Here? Do you know what
I'm talking about? I actually know the answer to this question.
I'm a bad test taker. We talked about this earlier.
(30:25):
Phelps was good. I was about to see you, weren't.
He would have the tie that matched the highlighter on there?
Maybe maybe we can That's a little like Howard Askin
on the sidelines with his fur coat. Does he have
a fur highlighter? No? But doesn't he color coordinate his
(30:45):
beats with like his tie and the whole pocket square
and everything. But I'm a big fan of Howard ask him.
I love Howard Loveward. I was his producer for a while.
I call him Sunshine. He's the best. Like for him
to get me one of those fur coats, I would
wear that first, you know what. I bet he can
do it. I'll make some Howard asking a legend in
(31:05):
Philadelphia media for anyone who doesn't know. Um, I guess
we should talk like a little bit about the team. Actually,
you know what, this has been kind of fun. This
is different. I am interested though, because it's your second
year as a head coach, but obviously it's your first
year at the Combine as a head coach, So like,
how is this year different than last year? Because I
(31:26):
really missed Indian I didn't realize how how much I
missed it until I came back this year. Yeah. Um,
you know, it's just you know, obviously as a coordinator,
I didn't have to I didn't come to this. I
didn't go to all the defensive meetings, which they're just
about to start tonight, right at the defensive meetings. So
I'm still kind of figuring it out a little bit.
Uh um. But it's it's just a little busier. It's
(31:46):
just a little bit busier. You know, I might not
have the amount of time to go out and uh
to dinner with somebody, or to launch with somebody, you know,
to catch up. But like, um, but it's exciting. This
is awesome. I get to I get to go and
talk to all all sorts of offensive and defense and
special teams. And I just love that about this that
we are able to put a face and a body
(32:09):
type to the players that we've been watching for you know,
in our scouts case the last year and in our
case the last month since the season has been over.
That's like me with you, like now I see you
in person body type we're all getting. I don't even
know what the hell that is that that does your
body fat and I'm not going to reveal with that. Well,
(32:30):
during your press conference earlier, um, you were talking about
you can actually see thick thighs in person. So you're
into like saved lives type of thing, Like does that
matter when you're setting your starting lineup? I also I like,
I see I haven't noticed that about about the media,
you know about the media. Like I also said, hey,
I'm six three and I'm able to see how but
(32:54):
you also show you all know, Yeah, I think you're
gonna get mems because you literally like combine lives and
like Philadelphia doesn't miss anything nobody. But also a lot
of people are just so like boring and you give
like the analogies, the flowering, like you know, this is
a good it's a good thing. All we want is
(33:14):
someone with personality and like just in the media and
jet like any just it's the best thing ever. He
gives us a little bit and we take that hype
you up. Yeah, I know that's I mean, like we're
the biggest cheerleaders. Um, I already was, so this is great.
Now I got back up here as well, but um,
you did obviously talk about um Jalen Hurts up on
(33:34):
the podium as well, and it's great. I'm sure in
your position going into this year, there's so much continuity.
You're bringing the whole gang back in terms of like
the coaching staff. You really didn't lose anyone like Jonathan Gannon.
He was rumored to maybe be leaving UM and that
obviously like when he was about to get that, I
thought he was getting a job and I'm like, gosh,
I'll do anything to sabotage this. I need him here,
(33:57):
Like I'm sorry, that's such an underrated thing when you're
able to keep continuity, and you're so super excited about that.
And he's got a six pack, and he's got a
six pack, so it's all working out. Yeah, And so
it's all motivation for us to do what we need
to do. And not only yes, we got him as
our defense coordinare, but then we got to look at
him every day and be like, all right, we gotta
get our bodies to look like him. Oh my god, please, um,
(34:19):
three first round picks. Um, that's so much draft capital.
I'm interested to see what happens. I'm sure you're not
going to give us any clues at this point, so
that's fine. But how thicker the thigh is gonna be? Like?
First overall thighs, hand size, thick thighs. That's it. That's
it right there. That can be your new motto. Right there.
(34:40):
I'll ask you a Jalen Hurst question this way because
you're wearing a six or zip up right now, which
are so sweet. James Harden Championship. Let's go tonight, you're
gonna watch'll be I'll be in meetings. I'll bet you
gotta work. I'll have my phone. My phone was streaming
last night when we were when we were interviewing guys.
(35:02):
I was checking the Villanova score. Awesome, best, how good?
How good can you like? I think I got a gout.
He's been awesome, like to help me, like, because you've
got the best suits too. They're always cut so nice.
He's a well dressed guy, you know. And I learned
this from Gus Bradley, defensive coordinator for the Colts, and
(35:24):
I worked with him when he was a defensive coordinator
for the Chargers. You know, he's like, listen, go learn
the art of coaching from great coaches. Like anything, you
can take anything from him. And Gus would always talk
about how you go talk to these basketball coaches, and like,
I got one of the best basketball coaches in the
country right there in Philly, who's willing to, you know,
(35:45):
give me the whole scoop on Philly and the whole scoop.
But what he's gotten coaching, it's awesome. You need someone
to like lead the way I feel like if you're
coming from the outside in Philly, there's just a lot
of layers. There's a lot of personalities, a lot of
like you need to really be debriefed. Well, he's helping
me all right, So I'll ask you this, um, because
you're wearing the sixers zip up right now, Jalen Hurts,
(36:08):
Can you win a championship with him? I'm most definitely
I think we can. Um. He is a I think
the first thing you think about when you think about
a quarterback, you know, off the field, right, let's just
talk about off the field is can he lead? Can
he lead the team? And our guys gonna, our guys
gonna be like I will die for that guy, you know,
And and I think that's most definitely the case. They're like,
(36:31):
you're gonna get the best out of everybody. Forget about Jalen.
You're gonna get the best out of everybody around him
because they want to do good for him. Like that's
the best, That's such a great quality. And why do
they want to do good for him? They want to
do good for him because he leads by example. He
works hard. He works so hard at becoming a better
quarterback every single day. He he is tough. This guy
(36:51):
is tough. And like when you see your quarterback going
out there and his ankle hurts and his ankle is
really messed up, and he's going out there and he's
doing like you're gonna want to play through the things yourself.
So and all those leadership and intangibles that he has,
he's got him. You know, he loves football like my
whole thing. And I always learned this. I saw Frank.
I've been looking for Frank Reich. You know, he's always
(37:14):
talking about what he always learned this from him, like
that guy's visor, and oh that's that you can't leave
it behind. He's gonna get poked right there because he's
not doing it. Rights experienced that later, but Frank would
always talk about, you know, the intangibles that a guy has.
(37:38):
If he has like the love of football, if he
has toughness, if he has competitiveness, if he's got high
football i Q and high character, that player is going
to reach his ceiling. And Jalen has all those things
and and and that's why you've seen him get better
every year. That's why you see him better this year
than he was last year, and why he was better
at Oklahoma than he was when he was at Alabama
and so on. It's just going to continue to go
(37:59):
that way. And so uh intangible as he has he's got.
You know, we we talked about the critical factors of
the position. UM. He you know, he's got arm strength,
he's got um ability to create UM. He's continuing to
get better with his accuracy and he's continuing to really
make leaps and bounds with this decision making. And that's
what you look for in that position. And so super
(38:19):
excited to continue to move on with UH with Jalen
and to UM. Just really looking forward to year three
with him as our quarterback and UH UM really excited
about him. It's nice too for him that he will
finally have some of that continuity in terms of like
play calling, because what he hasn't had the same play
caller two years in a row since like high school
or something pretty crazy. I know you have to go, um.
(38:42):
I So I asked you that question that way because
Doc Rivers was asked if he could win a championship
with Ben Simmons, and then we saw how the rest
of that question and everything played out. So I'm happy
that everything is playing out in the opposite direction with
you guys. It's gonna be awesome to see you again
out on the field. So in joy the off season
and everything you have going on. Good luck with the draft,
(39:03):
appreciate it. Thanks for having me on there, he goes
Nick Sirianni. We took up way too much of his time.
(39:23):
He was late for his next interview already, but it
was worth it. There were a lot of questions that
were left on the cutting room floor. I'm sad that
I didn't get to any of the questions that I
had prepared for him, but that's okay. We spent too
much time in the bodo And now I see it
didn't get cold because Rachel Bonetta is in it. Now, Buddy,
(39:48):
did I hear that? You guys just talked to Sirianni
about his thighs The whole time. We talked a lot
about thick thighs, a lot hand size. We're talking about hands.
We talked about body fat percentages and it's packs. And
I just tried to take the Wonder test, which is
now defunct, Thank god, um that that should have been
killed many many I did it. I wanted to take
(40:08):
it too, so I did it on the flight here,
and then after like twelve questions, I was like, I'm
not doing this. Your bill was fifty dollars and sixty
eight cents and you hand them, uh, you know, a
hundred dollar bill, how much money. It's difficult. It's like
all math. It's all math. Like as soon as any
(40:30):
of the like the English portion of the program, no problem,
Like can nail that easy, and then all of a
sudden it's like nailed. Um yeah, but it's hard. There's
like a lot of percentages and miles per hour. It's
like when the train is going here this time, absolutely
(40:50):
never get in the station. So bonetta, you flew in,
I'm stroking out. You flew in on a red eye,
are feeling very tired. I'm wearing the same sweater that
I slept in because I didn't realize that today was
going to be like a professional days amazing. You guys
are all like decked out hollywoods in rich eyes and
(41:10):
suit jacket were talking about Um yeah, I was not prepared.
I'm wearing the same sweater I slept in. Also, party foul.
The woman on the flight that was in front of
me first class thing very much, kept her kept her
light on the entire was watching something on her iPad.
(41:30):
Shut the light on. You don't need a light to
watch an iPad. And then the guy beside me didn't
get up when I tried to go into the window
scene he had to climb over him. Well, no, because
his mom yelled at him. He was wearing a Winnie
the Poo onesie like no, no, no, he was How
old is this child? Yeah, like probably like twenty two.
He was just looking for a little party time. Uh,
(41:50):
And so he got out of a seat, and then
I took my shoes off. So it was like party
fowls all around. Everything you just said gets negated because
once you take your shoes off. That was the literally
that was the worst party. That was the least worst party. Now, okay, okay, okay. See,
the biggest thing that's on my radar is when I'm
(42:11):
on like the at the window seat and I have
to get up, but the person that's sitting in the
aisle seat does not get up, and they like make
me climb over them, especially if this guy was trying
to do it is so awful and I'm like, well
do I do I face this person? Do not face them?
I've tried it both ways and it's both terrible. Yeah, man,
(42:33):
that's perfect. We should tie up some loose ends. Split
what is the split end of the week? Come in
and can in one thing the split end of the week, sexy,
the sex of it's sexy and mysterious. Is this a party?
(42:55):
Is amazing? Speaking of Bench with Vanetta, amazing show. Congrats
of course, talking about nonsense every single week, but it's fun. No,
we're doing homeless home. I was on Yours. My mom
listens and one of my brothers listen. You know really
(43:16):
well at least like just tell them to subscribe and
then yeah, that's why the clicks. What is the splint
end of the week? The splint end of the week?
What we change it every week? Sometimes it's odds and ends.
Sometimes it's like a question. I think we should do
a question. Okay, what is and and the stems from
your question earlier on Bench you were asking me like
what is the vibe? Or like what is what is
your advice for combine? Let's let's go with the party fowl, like,
(43:40):
what is the one thing we cannot let happen this combine? Um?
I need to drink more water, That's what I was like,
guzzling peppermint oil because I've been so nauseous and mountain dew.
Oh god. Yeah, so it's a good nauseous. It's a
great um. Yeah, Just I get like motion sickness and
(44:01):
stuff and yeah, it's crazy. Yeah, you can read between
the lines there. Yeah. Yeah. Pepperman oil great. Great. My
girlfriend's a holistic kind of weirdo and she does essential oils.
And actually she told you that in San Francisco, you
got show Pepperman oil, smell it or put a drop
under it under your tongue. I learned so much. I
(44:21):
think you guys are gonna be like, stay away from
the fireball on your like Pepperman oil, and maybe have
a nice little tea in the morning. I think. All right,
so here is a good piece of advice. Always have
a buddy when you go to Prime. That's like, there
needs to be a bloody because you're gonna be prime there.
Don't say that the hottest place the hot If you
(44:44):
want to be seen, you've got I don't. Lila in
l A indeed a very scene you guys talk about.
We talked about Delilah all the time. All right, I'm
rolling up Prime with you guys. You absolutely have to come.
I said she should come to dinner, but I don't.
There's a reservation for her, so I'm going to try
to pull some strings. But if not, we'll can meet
(45:05):
you out to show up in the jacket and they'll
be like, you know what, pull up a booster seat
and it'll be fine. Oh wow, I thought you were
gonna diss me, but then you self deprecat you've already
done that enough you have you really did and told
me you really did. Do you have any advice? My advice?
My advice is is be careful um who you talk to,
because everyone is somebody And then all of a sudden
(45:27):
you're chatting with someone and they're like, well, actually I
am the VP of existence of their roommate, Like my
roommate's uncle is Matt Lafleur next to me, And now
you're screwed. I'm not going to talk to watch your back.
But yeah, Also, if you're not waking up with anxiety
from drinking the night before, you're doing combine wrong. I
(45:49):
didn't prepare myself for this. Didn't mean do you want
to go to yoga while we're here? I was texting
Colleen and Cynthia and asking, do you guys want to
do like a yoga thing? Why? Why don't you roast
her right off the bat because I have done yoga
and indy before. Jesus but just once. It was only one. Okay,
to keep it right, Okay, I love it, keep it
(46:10):
right all right. Yeah, so buckle up. It's gonna be
an interesting week, Tampas you you leave tomorrow, I do.
I leave tomorrow, tonight, tonight, tonight. I'd have no work
responsibilities tomorrow. I have my most work responsibilities tomorrow. Perfect.
It's the longest day early to Monday. Yeah, I think, Oh,
show last. She's little but punch. Oh yeah, she'll last.
(46:33):
Is that what you said? She'll survive? Will? They're trying
to preserve her right now. You see her with the
red bull and mountain dew like king out in the background.
She'll be she'll be good. I don't know if we're
gonna do a show next week. Maybe we will, maybe
we won't. Probably should, but we haven't decided yet. So
splitches if you see an episode in your feed, we
(46:53):
did one, and if not, Colleen didn't make it through
the week and then she was not preserved. Absolutely. In
the meantime, tell your friends rate reviews, subscribe Bonada, thanks
for stopping. Yeah, I mean I know you felt obligatd
because I was just sitting there. It was It's kind
of great, and I was like I guess, like, do
you want to come? And she like jumped up. She
(47:14):
was like, yeah, yeah, I've been waiting for you. Guys.
I love it all right, so maybe we'll be back,
but if not, we'll see you on another time later.
By Oh Let's Split. Oh one three, Let's Split.
