Speaker 1 (00:00):
Speaking of draft night, I'm sure you watched the draft. Yeah, Hollywood,
Brown gets traded, takes takes one away from heart from
you guys's room. What kind of are your What's going
through your mind when that happens? Um? You know, I
feel like Baltimore drafting before. A reason they drafted be

(00:21):
to be in his position. I mean know, all due
to him, and you know I'm gonna missing just keep
my brother, but it was like, it's my time. Carlin
Humphrey is without a doubt in the conversation to be
the best coming in the football Sitting here live with

(00:44):
Rashad Bateman, Minnesota Gopher, Baltimore Raven blue devil back in
high school. Happy to have this guy here, first round
pick in the club. Happy to have this guy here.
Thank you for coming in. How are you doing to that?
I appreciate you having me. I'm a little disappointed because
yesterday I tried to get you on yeah, and you
told me you had to get your outfit ready, yeah,

(01:05):
and then you come in and sweats. But I wore
jeans for the first time. But my goal was to
outdress you. And I know, I know, first off, to
talk to me, what am I Okay this No, I
already told you before before the interview start. I approved this. Yeah,
I definitely approved ten out of ten for show. I like.
I like the color contrast. Yeah, and all the dreams

(01:26):
are pretty stretchy too. Yeah, these are I forgot. I forgot, honestly.
But okay, we're gonna fashion since we're on that. I
know you're a big fashion guy. We were talking a
little bit earlier. Why what is it about dress that
feels I know you have it to where it represents you.
What about that kind of goes to your mind when
you're going through that. Um, I just like being creative

(01:48):
when it comes to it. Uh, not even far as fashion. Uh.
I just think about it this art like I think
of I think of colors. I like just putting colors together.
It's not really about the brand anything. I just like
matching colors and then if it looks good enough, it
looks good. And obviously I couldn't afford clothes young, so

(02:08):
now I'm gonna go crazy. Yeah, I like that. I
like that. So I think a lot of times when
you think of let's talk about game day, some people think,
you know what you wear, it doesn't matter, you know, Yeah,
I'm always like home games, I'm pretty whatever, but away
games I always like the more nice a wearing. What's

(02:30):
kind of your Do you have anything you think about
when it comes at home away games? Last year, I
think I was still a learning the whole year of
like how to travel and everything. But I think this
year away games, I think I'm feeling switch bro just
because uh but it's still gonna be dripped though. Okay, Okay, okay,
I'll be okay, it's gonna it ain't gonna be no

(02:51):
no no regulars, like it might be some gallery switch
or something or something like that. But yeah, away games definitely. Yeah.
So I'm used to did you guys, what do you
guys have to do in college? Did you guys have
to wear like a suit or anything? Or Yeah? So
I kind of always just got in that mode, kind
of liked it. Um But okay, So so that's that

(03:14):
you go to you in Georgia. Yeah, I know you
end up going to Minnesota, right, And I was just
looking at the map. That's a far way away from
what how did how did that end up going out there?
Minnesota was the first Power five school to all from
your scholarship before that I was committed to Georgia Southern
Sun Built School was never going to catch the ball.

(03:35):
Yeah they ever they still run Okay, yeah, yeah they
still do. It's never going to change. But I was
committed there. Um the coach Flick now went to a camp.
They offered me camp. I committed. They never seen Minnesota
committed on the spot. Yeah, only because I liked the colors.
I like the colors of Minnesota and I had a
relationship with Flick and coach Simon, my position coach, and

(03:55):
really that was it? You like the So I feel
like I have to ask, yeah, don't you know? Yeah
I would. I would say, you like the color? Do
you like purple and black? Or is that is that
I love purple and black? Okay, I love purple and
black for sure, to make sure that. Okay. So back
to Minnesota though, so they for the first school that
that offered Power five and they just how was that like?

(04:16):
Because I actually I don't even remember my first college offer,
but for real, I don't really know who it was.
But I don't even know how that process goes of
just they saying like, hey, I'm gonna offer you a
scholarship and you're just like, yeah, I've committed, Like, how
does that? How does that work? That literally how it went?
Where I did the camp West Georgia. He took me
into this room, me and my mom and you had

(04:39):
a good camp. I want to offer you a scholarship.
And I committed right then, Like I didn't really know
what to say. I was I literally asked him. I
was like, how do I commit? Like do I just
say it? Do I sign a paper? And I committed
right then. And then later the year all the other
schools started coming in ACC and SEC and then but
I just stayed committed to Minnesota. Yeah, yeah, okay, that's

(05:00):
that said? How that works? So it's it gets pretty
cold there, so coming to Baltimores really know how because
I know I think that gold No no, no no, no, no,
How is it adjusting to that? To that weather? Uh,
definitely tough. We went. When I went on my official visit,
there was like, you know, we got these underground tunnels
connected to class and no, so you're you're good? No no,

(05:20):
nah nah. It was like my freshman year of twenty eighteen,
it was like one of the coldest ever in Minnesota.
It was like negative twenties. But class was still going.
So y'all never got to snow that? No, no, no no, no, yeah.
Now I remember in Alabama, we get I mean, I
don't know how George is, but I'll get rained days
and we get half an inch two inches. We it's over.

(05:42):
Now we're trucking. And there's like three different parts of
campus East Bank, West Banks and Saint Paul big campus.
Sometimes you have the uber to class uber the class
uber like. Sometimes your class might be in a different city,
like Saint Paul and Minneapolis. Those are two different cities. Okay,
so so so very large campus. I can't relate. I

(06:06):
cannot relate. But I had a moped that got a
lot of tickets for I used to moped to class.
But if it was snowing and ice, I don't know
how that would have worked. To pay those I actually got,
I had to because I got a boot on my
moped and I said, I'm not I'm not paying for

(06:26):
this boot. I was, so I just picked the moped up,
put it in my car. But then I put it
on social media, and then you know, my dad got
good ties to the university. Then I had to. I
had I got caught, and I was cool. With the
parking Letty miss Gwen, I don't know if she's still there.
Basically had to pay it. But if it weren't for

(06:46):
my dad, I would have. I would still be in
debt to the Universal. But um, all right, go to Minnesota,
you then go on to Baltimore, you get drafted. I
think it's always interesting to talk about to hear people's
draft stories, what they thought pre draft, what's kind of
going through your mind. I think every player thinks they're

(07:09):
gonna go higher than what they end up going usually,
but what's going through your mind on draft? That it's crazy?
I think, Uh, I went earlier than what I thought.
Um can I say? Who? I think that was committed? Yeah,
come on, let's here, let's hear. I feel like I
was gonna go Green Bay. I was on the phone
with Green Bay all day, the whole day, and I'm

(07:30):
pretty sure Green Bay had to pick after US or
or the two picks out the US or something like that.
But I was actually sleep on draft thing. I haven't
heard my name cold and I was picked twenty Yeah,
how are you sleep us? In the first round? I pick?
Were you twenty seven? Okay? Okay? And I woke up
at the twenty fifth pick. Who who woke you up?

(07:52):
My brother? Just randomly. I was on my brother's bed,
just sleep, chilling. I ain't heard my name called and
I wake up. He waked me up at twenty fifth pick,
And well why did he wake What made him? You
don't know? We were just everybody was just vibing. My
whole family's there. They was there for me and I'm sleep.
So everybody was like, you know, man, come vibe. You know,
you know your name is gonna get called eventually. Everybody

(08:12):
trying to trim me up and things like that. But yeah,
oh you was down, down down. I thought you said
you got picked earlier than what you thought for sure,
But so why are you down because I was just down.
Oh it's the NFL draft like that, SEEO like but
for me, I'm sure and say that you feel like
you were better than guys getting I'm better than I'm better.
I'm better than the receivers that was taken before me.

(08:33):
At least I think I'm better than the receivers taking
for me for sure. Okay, so you get the so
you you say you had your draft party at your house,
You get the phone, you get the phone called? Who
who called you? Who's talking to you when you pick
up the phone? ECDC? What was? It's crazy because I
don't really even I don't know if they recorded my call.
I don't know they recorded yours, like I want to record? Yeah, yeah,

(08:56):
I don't. I don't think I ever saw mine because
I don't even remember what he was saying exactly. All
I remember is what do you think he said? I
don't know. I got a call from Ozzy. I don't
know how Adcy does his little call. So how do
you feel about playing with Lamar Jackson? Oh? How do

(09:17):
you feel about playing with Lamar Jackson? Well, how do
you feel playing with Lamar Jackson? When you when he
actually that? How did you feel then compared to how
do you feel now? For me, Dan, it was like
a dream untrue, just because I was going to the
NFL and I had knew you, I knew Lamar. So
I'm like, I'm playing with dudes. Like I'm playing with
dudes and none of them here. The perspective has changed

(09:37):
because I don't know what it is about the Ravens
bro We get a lot of slander, whether we hurt
or not, and like Lamar gets a lot of slender,
whether he hurt or not, whether he's producing or not.
So being on his team now, um, it's definitely even
more special because I don't feel like he gets a
lot of the spec man I want. I want Bro
to win the super Bowl for sure. So you like
the you like the you like the underdog row Yeah,

(09:59):
because that that's what I've been on my life for show. Yeah,
same same. I think I think Lamar gets a lot
of slander. Um, but I think it's uh, you don't
really care. So no, he don't care. I like that,
and that's why I liked about him too. Bro do
that care? Yeah, he do care, just not care. All right.
So you're who's besides Lamar? What do you think about

(10:20):
when you're like, all right, Baltimore just drafted me? Because
I know, I was like, all I see you from Minnesota.
I was like, I think it's pretty cold and Baltimore
that I don't know, it's crazy. And I still got
a message because I sent it to my agent about
two weeks ago, the day before the draft, I test him.
I sent him the screen shots of houses in Baltimore
because for some reason, like I have this screen stops

(10:43):
I probably pull it up like I have this screen.
Stop when you're looking at the houses in Baltimore not
knowing that I was gonna go here, but like I
thought I was going to Green Bay, So why are
you looking at Baltimore? But I don't know because they was,
they were. It was around the same time. So I'm like,
I'm like, maybe I'm going here, Like I'm sorry, but
like I wasn't looking at I was in Green Bay,
like I had just come from the mid West. I
did not want to be up there. Done. So you

(11:05):
were looking interesting? Yeah, for sure, I can't. Okay, Okay,
and then you end up going to Baltimore? Um man,
that's that's did you end up? Did you find any
good houses before? Did you end up not doing that?
I found the house here. I just feel like housing
here is very different. Yeah, it is lifestyle. So, um,

(11:28):
I did find a house here that I'm written. Um
but it all worked out, It all worked out. Okay.
So you get here, did the team visit? I'm sure?
Did you do anything in the seat? Did you the
thing with the stadium with the fans right now? No? Nah,
I think COVID still was. Yeah, were you were I
wasn't COVID, but I was kind of COVID. Like I
didn't have a comeback. We didn't have a comebaun in

(11:48):
my class. We didn't have a come bawn oh man,
so we only had protect. Okay, so when I the
Ravens fans are great, tell me your first because I
went to the first I think when I first got here,
I went to the Setium and did the Ravens Fest thing.
See I didn't, I didn't. I didn't do that, and
I just went to Mt Bakes. They don't draft night.

(12:11):
This first time I was able to interact with the
Baltimore fans be personally because just because of everything am
they were going, they were lit. Yeah that's that's. They
were talking to me about the flock because I don't
know how Minnesota fans are. I don't know. I'm not
gonna lie to you. I love Minnesota, but Minnesota fans,
Minnesota's not football, like it's not it's not it's not football.

(12:31):
Uh but more so down here NFL. Obviously it's bigger.
But the night that we played and I wasn't even playing, uh,
night that we played the Chiefs, Yeah, that was that
was good. That was good. I don't even don't I
don't even know. I probably couldn't even like walk down,
but I wanted to like play. Yeah that was yeah. Yeah,

(12:53):
there's a couple of games, uh coats just because it
was night and the jerseys were black and they did
the lights like they did some something crazy lights yea
lights and night. But the fans incredible, like you can
like they go crazy, Yeah, they do. The night games
are great. We played the Page probably the just the

(13:16):
most energy I felt that, I said them, so i've
been here. Was when we played Brady. I don't know
what year that was, and uh, it's crazy. They they've
even driving in. I'm just like it's like it just
felt different. Yeah, you know, winning that game, so it
was it was crazy. Um okay, speaking of Draft night,

(13:39):
come here join a wide Receiver Corps. Hollywood Brown, Mark
Andrews a couple of weekends weeks ago. I'm sure you
watched the draft. Yeah, Hollywood Brown gets traded, takes takes
one away from heart from you guys's room. What kind
of are your What's going through your mind when that happens?

(14:01):
And I know we all love our teammates. Who I
wanted to say you know, I hate, I hate to
see guys go, but it is a nature of the game.
But what's kind of going through your mind when you
see that happen? You know, all rep due to him,
and you know I'm gonna missing just keep my brother.
But it was like, it's my time. Um, you know,
I feel like Baltimore drafted before a reason. They dropped
to be to be in his position, and for me,
it's like all of it waiting on this, the opportunity.

(14:24):
I know what I don't capable love. I feel like
the Ravens organization that one don't capable love. So I'm
just excited to go out and finally show it, show
it to the fans and especially to my teammates for sure.
So you feel like, well, he leaves that because you
you you hit me up, and I felt like, I'm thinking,
I don't want to words in your mouth, but I'm

(14:45):
feeling like you're You're kind of like who leaves that room?
Like who leaves that room? Now? Yeah, I hit up
with coup of players. I even hit up James. I
was like, bro, I'm gonna eat help leaving this room
because like year one, for me, I went through a lot.
I didn't with an injury, so I'm like, how do
you really do this? And then I just watch how
everybody else handle it, and it's really you just gotta

(15:05):
do it. You didn't really like talking or be about it,
And I think that's why that's why I get my
leadership from. You don't talk much. You don't you don't
tell people like what you're doing, what you be here
working when nobody else is working, and you don't even know.
I see that, like I'll be seeing that you know
what I'm saying, and James be here seeing that you
know that stuff that motivates me, and like, I don't
know if y'all know that payoff, but you do payoff.

(15:27):
So you talked about injuries. So I think we had
a men. You both have a unique when I when
I first got drafted, UM, I got hurt a muscle
um in training camp and so I missed. I missed
all the preseason games except the last one. Talk to
me about I don't know if you know our wide

(15:49):
receiver struggles in the past, but I do. I do
trust me talk to talk to me about having that
injury UM and kind of just it sucks when you
get drafted you're so excited and you get hurt and
you kind of gotta watch in the slot. I've never
felt like more of a completed receiver like during that

(16:11):
time before I got hurt. Someone I got hurt, it
was like dang. And then for me, I felt like
I had, you know, let my teammates down. I had
let you know, the Ravens organizations down because I've gotta
drafted me. They're expected me to come in and do
those things. And you know, bro, I like to live
up to my expectations, you know, no matter who you

(16:31):
no matter who was coming from. So going through the
injury and going down during that time, and I just
knew that we as a team and had talked about
super Bowl, super Bowl, and we all knew that if
it wasn't for the injuries or anything, we would have
been in super Bowl last year. I don't care know
where to say, like, I think we honestly would have
been in super Bowl. So going through the end of time,

(16:51):
I just feel like I let the team down. So
I only asked because I related to myself. Yeah, I know,
I got hurt. I'm walking around the building. I miss
the first preseason game. It's a second preseason game. That's
a third preseason game. I'm like, no one's saying anything
to me because it was four preseason game. It was

(17:12):
four back four. H oh, yeah, she's okay. So I
remember being like, dang, like I'm kind of almost feeling
like I'm hearing something like I'm almost feeling like, you know,
when you're first round, that's an expectation. Yeah, that's you're
I mean you, that's something I wanted to get to sure,
for sure, And I'm almost like many, I feel like

(17:35):
I feel like people are really doubting if I can
play the game. Did you ever feel that way as
you were going through that for sure? Because nobody, like
even you, I know, you're probably like, I wonder what
he's up to your dB own receiver, you know what
I'm saying. So, yeah, I wondered if I wonder if
you could actually play, And you know, I wanted the
same thing about you guys. So coming in during that time,

(17:56):
no nobody had really seen me play, nobody had really
seen me practice, and I feel like I had a
very a very good training camp. But after that, practice
only gets you, you know, so far, especially when youre
pressing your teammates at that point, you're just crafting it,
gets each other getting better, but going out againstbody else
improving it. I really never had the opportunity to do
that and not even prove it to not even just

(18:18):
my teammates or anybody, but to myself. But I think
I showed flashes last year. I proved it to myself,
Like you're playing this league now, I just I feel
like I need to go prove it to everybody else.
Proving it to everybody else when you when you think
of I think it's very interesting what everybody has it.
Everybody has a different gage of successful and not successful. Yeah,

(18:42):
I think you know some people my dad's in the
past me like, you had a good game, so and
then I'm like, I didn't feel like I had a
good game. What is I know you can't control how
many catches you have? Yeah, what what is a a
good game to you to where you felt like, Man,
I know I did my job. I know you can't
control everything. You want it all the work, But what
is a I had a good game? Here? I think

(19:04):
I've been making myself mad because you play good and
you're like I could have played way better? Yeah, like
way better? Like I think about it. Down was like
the Cleveland game was my first one hundred yard game,
and then I look back at that game like I
could have played way better. So I just think always
keeping the expectation of playing, of doing more and wanting

(19:26):
more never been satisfied because I just feel like me,
if I get complacent, then I get stuck in that spot.
So I never want to get stuck in that same spot.
Um So, being able to have that mindset and just
keep chucking and keep going, that's what has get me
to where I am right now. So what talk to
me about what you're What's what's kind of going through

(19:48):
your mind as when you when you get on the
field as a wide receiver. I think every what makes
the craziest thing about football is everybody's got talent. Everybody
looks can run fast this, but it's little things that
make a good guy for a girl from good to great.
What's kind of your mindset when you when you line
up scan the defense, looking at the looking the side

(20:09):
of the ball. What's going through your mind especially when
you know the balls coming. Let's talk about that. Let's
talk about when you know the balls, this is my
this is my play. We practice this all week. The
ball is supposed to come to me if I do
my job. What's going through the mind as a receiver,
in my mind set is to not let anybody touch me.
You know, the receiver, the receiver, you doing it, you know,
you know the receiver. You know. Receivers are the pretty

(20:30):
boys and they don't like to get touched. That's me,
you know what I'm saying. I don't like to get touched.
And I feel like if the DBK touch me, that
means I'm open. You know what I'm saying. If I
got the ball in my hands and nobody's touching me,
that mean nobody's around me. I'm open. So whatever it
is for me to be able to to create no
one around me or to just be there by myself

(20:52):
or just empty space, I feel like that. That like,
that's why made me a complete receiver. And that goes
from route running, foot break, ball in your hand all that.
Did you ever model if you had a player you
think you modeled your game after, or did you have
a guy that your model game after? Anybody looked up
to when you were younger. I never really modeled my game,

(21:12):
I think, right, I just looked up to somebody, and
I just feel like, obviously Odell Beckham was my era
of of receivers to look up to. I feel like
he changed the game in areas all around, you know
what I'm saying, as far as fashion and as far
as swag on him off the field and things like that.
But now like not in NFL. Like the one guy
that I study, Adams, I ain't got no choice Adams,

(21:37):
he don't. It's very hard to put hands ahead. Yeah,
it's very hard. It's very hard to put Hans him
it is he. Um, I was a rookie. I had
no luck. Luckily we had I don't know who was
playing quarterback, but it wasn't Aaron Rodgers, but um they
had don't know, what do you mean it wasn't he
was he was hurt or something. So I was a

(22:00):
rookie year. I just remember I lined up and I
he got. He ran a slant. Like by the time
I just like opened my eyes, he was done. He's
like five yards inside. Luckily has him help in there
and they tackled him. But would you watch his tape,
it's like he does the most simple stuff to get open.
But then it's like he's just he does it so well,

(22:21):
he does it so well. Yeah, his his I don't
he's he's he's he's that. Yeah, yeah, he's that. He's good.
He's definitely that. Um. Okay, so DeVante Adams. Um. Then
so you didn't you looked up to so when you
were a kid, like when you were young, young you
it was up. But I want ain't that, No, No,

(22:43):
I ain't. I ain't know. I want I want to
say what. Okay, that was football, that's young young. Yes,
I don't want to tell y'all because I might get
in trouble, but we can edit it. Come on, let's go.
Who hans Ward hans Ward Yeah, ah man ah they might. Ah.

(23:07):
He was a very aggressive guy. Hans Ward in Santonio
Holmes hans Ward. Why why those those? Why those? I
mean there's not really a why, but there there were?
But why why? Why? Why is your perspective from there?
Definitely get in trouble again, guy, You might as are
you already committed? You already committed because I grew up

(23:28):
a Pittsburgh fan. It was inherited from my father. All right, okay,
tell me tell me why the father he just was
a Pittsburgh Clay. He was just a Pittsburgh fan the
first No no, no, no no, no, no, no no, Okay, you're good.
You know. I think at a certain point that changed,
because there's one point where I didn't give him no

(23:51):
crap about the stealers, but growing up it was the Steelers. Yeah,
we might have to end of that up for real stealers.
For um, what's something about the NFL that surprised you,
Like something you thought would happen but it just didn't
go that way? Like when I got here, I guess

(24:12):
what kind of surprised, Like just from the day to
day to day schedule. I was kind of surprised that
it was, Like I guess I didn't know how it
would be. I didn't really have an expectation, but I
was surprised. Like it reminded me of like a nine
to five, Like you get here, ye at breakfast, then
you go to a special teams meeting, but like all
the slots are just filled with like meetings and then
football in the middle and then lunch and then yeah

(24:36):
that I'm glad you said that, because that is what
surprised me. Because going from college to NFL, a lot
of players think, you know, I ain't got school no
more so exactly, Yeah, I don't have a school no
more so. I better go to practice, do my film,
and I can just chew the rest of the day. Nah.
But I love it though, because that's all that's all
I do. Got I ain't got to go to class,

(24:57):
I ain't got to do none of that. Um. But
that's definitely yeah, definitely nine to five, sometimes nine to ten. Yeah,
that training camp gets great. But that's what surprised me
the most. I was just like, you know, people, because
oftentimes I talk to people and they're like, oh, house
football that Like, yeah, yeah, we did practice, but like
I just got done. Yeah I practiced this morning. Yeah

(25:20):
we did meeting, meeting, meeting. It's hard for people to
really understand that. But it's it's just like I asked
my friends. I was like, what do y'all think I do?
They was like, practice, meet, go home. I'm like, so hollow,
and y'all think that I practiced for And it was
like they was assuming that I practiced like for like
majority of the times that I'm at the facility exactly.

(25:41):
I'm like, practicing is a small portion of that's probably
the smallest, probably the smallest portion of like what we
do at the facility. Other than that, it's just stuff. Yeah,
that's that's actually exactly what surprised me. All right, So
off the field, you got five days to go wherever

(26:02):
and have ideal days of just perfect scenario days. Where
are you going and what's what's kind of some of
the things you might be doing. California, California, La, La,
Los Angeles, part of LA, all of it, all of it,

(26:23):
all of it. You're probably my sister man, She's from Alabama.
She moves to LA for a couple months and now
she I think if you ask where she's from, she
might say, La. I've only been like maybe three or
four times. Just what is I mean? The weather is great,
the weather is great, and I've I've never really seen

(26:44):
that side of the world. So every time I go
over there is like I'm out of the country because
I don't know. I don't E got a passport. You
don't have a pass I don't have a passport. I
think it's but the reason why I don't have a
passport because I'm like, why would I go out the country.
I've barely been to stakes Like, I've barely been to

(27:04):
I've never been in New York, New York. In New York,
New York is ah. I like New York. It's very
very bro You'd be everywhere because that's what you gotta do.
You'll be everywhere, but you gotta put your work in
off season, put the work in during the week, go
take a trip boom, got to see the state. But
all right, so what are you doing La? Shopping? What?

(27:26):
It's just vibes, just vibes. It's not even about shopping.
It's just vibe in my life. You know. That's what
I want to surround myself with. It's just good vibes,
you know, I feeling if I go back home South Georgia,
you got gnats and and this and that, and from
my hometown, we ain't got much. We got Arby's, we

(27:47):
got Chick fil A, Zach, She's like, we got we
got the normal and just being able to go somewhere
else since, yeah, go outside and try something new, see
more life. And La is a very inspiring place. So
your ideal, Dad, is just the vibes. I do I
do understand what that means in La because there's just
a lot of there's a lot of that I think. Okay,
So it's all when the vibe is off. When the

(28:09):
vibe is off with you, everything, When the vibe is
off with you, what do you do to get to
get back? It isn't create my own vibe, own vibe.
How do you create your own vibe? Go? Get something
to eat. Food gives you the vibe. Food, Come on, food,
don't give you a vibe. Pool get a vibe. I

(28:30):
eat a lot. I eat everywhere, I eat whatever. I
don't know if a solo eating nah. And that's another thing.
I like having my people around me peep peep, like
my my bortion back home or my teammates. I think
that people around you definitely bring the vibes. So and
if you're not, if you bring negative vibes, you gotta go.
You gotta go, you gotta go. You cut through. So

(28:53):
the vibe is okay, everybody, So the vibe is off,
it's okay, okay, okay, okay. I'm gonna need a clue
since I since I know we're all about I know
we play a strenuous game that puts a lot of
do all to prepare for one game, win or lose.

(29:13):
You might play bad, you might be down from something
in life? How do you get your mental state back?
Because you really One thing that surprised me about the
NFL two is when you lose, you don't really have
time to really like, there's no time to really dwell
on anything. You really gotta you lose, you I usually
do twenty four hours where you want to lost. It's

(29:36):
almost not even like a lose. It's like a like
a yeah, you gotta fix it, and then you gotta
move on whatever game we lost last year, whatever the
next team will. That's why I was thinking about, like
right in a locker room. Yeah, because I haint nothing
you can because we don't practice how many times in
a week? Three? Three? And everything else is mental? So

(29:56):
how do you how do you get your mentals back?
Not only from a a loss football wise, but just
just in life. I know we all go through hardships
in life. How do you get your mentals back? UM?
I just feel like having an understanding of where I
need to be and where I need to go, uh
and never losing sight of that. UM. I feel like
I got people around me to constantly around me of that. UM.

(30:18):
So being able to just lock in at all times. UM.
You know in our professional I feel like everybody around
us understand that. I feel like that's why all of
us are able to do what we do, being able
to lock in and do and do things with that.
But I don't have anything in particular um that locks
me anything like that. I just feel like it's kind
of already understood, understood right twenty twenty years from now.

(30:39):
So do we have there's a possible shot back in
line of clothing. Definitely, definitely Restat Bateman clothing line coming,
definitely coming this fall this year, this year, okay, and
later in life. I'm gonna have a real fashion brand
that's different. You know what I'm saying. You can wear it,
wear it out out. Are you gonna like hook us
up like Channel three? And oh for sure, for sure

(31:00):
me a Channel three go collab? Wait? Wait, how do
you said that? Co lab? Collab? Co lab with a
kay am? I set Oh that's a slang slang used
to do English English. I guess I'm a little too
proper for the collap. Okay, I think this is the

(31:21):
last question. You think. So it's cool having a good time. Man,
look good, good couple, you look back. Let's say you
play for twelve years. Great number played for twelve years.
You're come here do your retirement thing. Boom boom. You
look back on your career, What is a successful career

(31:44):
look like to a shot baby? The impact that I
live on the community. What there it's with Baltimore or
anybody else. You know, I would love all of it
to be here with Baltimore. But um, that's what matters
to me. That's what always mattered to me, is to
impact that I love I leave on people and like
my relationships. That's why I say, if the vibe, if

(32:07):
you're not bottom, you gotta go because the people I
surround myself with that's like they're dim but like that's
also me as well. So um yeah, it's all about
the impact, all about the impact. So you walk in
the room, How can I impact this room exactly like
your vibe? I feel like every day I walk in here,

(32:29):
my vibe should be good. And I feel like last
year I caught myself in a time because I was
hurting going through stuff. My vibe just wasn't there. There
wasn't there, and my vibe affected people around me. That's
why I can't have And now you got to be
the vibe setter exactly. Now I'm the vibe setter. Okay, baby,
appreciate it coming in. Appreciate you. So you remember back

(32:56):
in training camp, who's going head to head and mean
to Bank City them. You remember, I don't really talking
about there's a lot of stay, there's a lot of
practices in the silk kay um. I think that's when
I realized I was able to play football. Called a touchdown,
it gets very elite defender Marcus Huh, I'm trying to
figure out start with him, but it won't mark you.

(33:20):
I didn't finis arrest of practice though. Guy. So we always,
of course, when the draft pick comes, we always go
to my DV coach, coach Chris. He's like, I'm like,
I'm like, yo, tell me, tell me what's up whatever.
This Minnesota guy like do quick quick. I'm like, okay, Like,
so I lined up in front to do front to do?
Is you? I think this is gonna be all right?

(33:41):
So you pass the approval as shaded because as I
just assessed all of our receivers and I look at like,
who we're gonna play? Yeah, the quickest guy was you.
And when you got hurt last year in training camp,
I'm like, that's gonna take away key reps for me
in training camp. So I feel that it's gonna be
a lot of bounds, a lot of battles excited from
that mean Tuma world, appreciate you, and the whole world
