Speaker 1 (00:08):
Welcome to the Exchange presented by wind Beat. I am
Nick Mangold, your host, along with Mark Sanchez, my good
friend Mark. How are we doing today, Buddy? I'm great,
although I thought we were co hosts, so I'm gonna
need to talk to my agent about this. Okay, let
me start that over. Welcome to the Exchange presented by
wind Beat. I am your co host, Nick Mangold, with
(00:29):
my other cost Mark Sanchez. Mark, how are you doing today? Yeah?
But co host is kind of implies that there's another host,
so either way. Okay, Welcome to the Exchange presented by
wind Beat. I'm Nick Mangold with my co host Mark Sanchez.
How are you doing today? There we go, alright, we
found it good, good, good good good. Um. Alright, how
(00:53):
are you doing today, Buddy? I'm excellent. Uh, fired up
for our guests. But I'm not going to give it away,
so well, I'll give it away after we do, so
we'll tease a little bit by going over. UM TV shows. Right,
(01:14):
I'm a big fan of TV. I do enjoy it
very much. Um, I have some of my favorites growing up. Um,
what are some of your favorite TV shows growing up?
Let me think I mean when I was real little,
I used to watch X Men, Tom and Jerry, um,
the cartoon stuff. And then as I got a little older,
(01:36):
of course, we had watch parties for the o C.
Because I went to high school out here in Orange County, California.
It was a big deal every Thursday night. You know,
the whole California, that whole deal loved it. You know, Sopranos,
Game of Throne, some of the regulars that a lot
(01:57):
of people like. I know a lot of people are
on hot on White Lotus. I haven't seen it yet,
but I will get into that at some point. Um. Uh, pretty,
I won't spoil it for you, but I did just
finish White Lotus. Um, it was fantatistic season. I didn't
watch season one. Oh I watched season two. Um it
(02:17):
was delightful. Um like chronological. Um, I think they're chronological,
but they don't have any bearing on the other. Um.
So I think you're good. Um the one you glossed over,
which I'm shocked. Uh. Saved by the Bell. Oh yeah,
(02:37):
I watched a little Saved by the Bell. It would
usually be on right after school. Yeah, Kelly Kapowski Power Rangers.
I forgot about Power Rangers. Power Rangers classic one that
has that has made a resurgence in the Mangled Household
and my little guy, um, a little first grader as
(02:58):
is huge in the Power Rangers. So I've been watching
a lot more of it now watching it as an adult, Um,
I am shocked with how terrible terrible the it is. Like,
I mean, it's a fine show, but like some of
the monsters and the villains and everything they I remember
(03:19):
watching it growing up and like, oh my god, these
guys are so scary and everything. Now watching it as
an adult, like, uh, they're barely duct taped on like
plastic pieces like in nineteen sixties, nineteen seventies Godzilla type deal.
It's shocking how terrible it is. Um, let's see. There's
(03:40):
also Step by Step was a good one wonder years.
I remember that one of yours Home improvement Uh, Tim Allen,
youead two all time? Tim, A little full house family
matters and I mean, how can you forget fresh Prince
bel Air, Oh fresh Prince. Yeah. I did watch a
(04:03):
little of that. See. I caught these like you know,
occasionally if they were on after school whatever. Didn't watch
a ton of TV, but um, you catch these episodes
all the time. I mean, I just feel like I
kind of missed that whole. Um what was that not?
So you think you can dance some uh Kelly Clarkson
(04:24):
and claic and and um American God Dug the first
one there some one American Idol, Thank you American Idol.
That one where everybody would like sit down at eight pm.
I feel like that was like the last hurrah before
you know, I'm sure I'm off by a few years,
(04:45):
but like before streaming really came in and just wiped
people out and then he could just binge everything and
TV and Netflix and all that. I think streaming has
definitely ruined some things, like there were things. Um. Lost
was a good one for me. Um. I loved watching Lost,
and I think it was on Monday nights and so
(05:07):
like you had to wait a whole week to see
and then like when you start it at whatever time
it was eight or nine pm, and the guy the
narrator will come on and previously on Lost, you get
you get the like you know, the last the recap
of the last episode going into the next one like
that was that was unbelievable. So I was it was
(05:28):
definitely appreciative. I think of watching White Lotus um and
this season because of that, they released it on Sundays
at nine, and so it was yeah, and so it
was there wasn't the whole drop of like all right,
now you can watch every episode. You kind of had
to wait for it. And I appreciated that. I think
(05:49):
that was you see, I feel like you lose them
when you planned around the show, you know, Tuesday night APM,
Sunday night nine pm, and you know you're you're week,
your weekly agenda kind of revolves around that. I feel
like that's pretty much gone now. I thought that was special,
you know that was that was a fun deal. Game
(06:11):
of Thrones kind of got like that where people would
get together and stuff, but or you just wait, you know,
hold out to the end and grind him out. But
did you ever get into Peaky Blinders? Um? No, I
haven't got into Peaky Blinders. And I completely missed Game
of Thrones. Um, I didn't see an episode of it. Um,
you just missed it. I didn't miss it. I just
(06:32):
I didn't want to. It sound like it was like
a one time I just then, like Oz the Wizard
of Oz one time live. You just like, Oh I
was busy. It wasn't my cup of tea. But it's
like a strong like eight years all right, I was
a little busy, you know, father of four alright, father
four alright. So you forgot when when we were playing.
(06:58):
And this is why I know you'd like Peaky Blinds.
Oh that's all good. Hey, oh fun fact. Um, I
just this is a random one before we get to
our our guest that we're getting up to. Uh, my
daughter is having her first Holy communion this year's second grade.
Big deal. Um. We're getting her dress, uh made out
(07:21):
of my wife's uh first holy communion dress. There's just
gonna be pieces on it. We went to Staten Island
to get it made. Um. Fun fact. The dressmaker in
Statn Island. Her son is Juice. Oh wow, yeah that's
a small world, I know. Right. Is he coming to
(07:41):
the ceremony? Um, I'll ask we have enough and come
check it out. Yeah, it'd be nice anyway. Um, we
have a more important guest with us today. Um, speaking
of sitcoms and everything, this was um. Our guest today
is star of everyone Loved Raymond Ray Romano, um big
(08:03):
Jets fan and also hilarious comedian. I will tell you Mark,
you gotta keep me in line because I'm a huge
fan boy of him. I didn't watch the episodes as
they were coming out because I was in college. I
was doing other things. But once moving to Long Island, UM,
I fell in love with the sitcom and it's fantastic.
So this interview is going to be UM definitely a
(08:27):
fan boy moment for me. So please keep me on
on track. All right, So let's bring in Ray and
see what we can get into. And we're here with
our guest today, Ray Romano. Gosh, this is big time
for us. I'm gonna try not to let mangold fan out.
He's if he gets a little crazy, we'll come up
with the buzz word, you know, kind of like a
(08:48):
safe word. Let me know we can we can use missiletoe.
Let's just say missiletoe. If that's it, you say it.
Nick's gotta just cut his mike or do what I
do with my dog get a squirt bottle like a
want of Nick works well with the square model. So
Ray Ramono, I gotta know you grew up in Queens.
Who who were your Jets influences? How did this Jets
(09:11):
fandom come into being. I want the origin story start
from square one. Man. Well, normally, if you grow up
in Queens, it's it's Jets and Mets, you know, because
they both played in Queens. You know, the Jets played
at Chase Stadium. Um, you know, I'm I'm going way back,
you know. Uh, somehow we became I had I had
(09:33):
an older brother and an older cousin, and I just
followed them and they became Yankee fans over Met fans,
but we became Jet fans. So we were Jet Yankees
growing up, which is a weird combo. If you're in Queens,
there's another guy, Adam Sandler, is the same thing. He's
Jets Yankees. Yeah. Yeah, but I but I yeah, I
(09:54):
bout eleven and twelve years old is when I got
into it, into into following up my team, the Jets.
And you know, I was just told by my brother
and my cousin we're Jet fans, you know. Um. But
it was right after I'm giving away how old I am.
But if it was, it was right after the Super Bowl.
(10:15):
So I haven't seen Yeah, so I haven't seen them
win a Super Bowl yet. You know, I wasn't. Yeah,
I know, I know, I'm sticking around. Who's the first quarterback?
You remember? Does it? Name it? Then? I mean I
I of course I remember name it, but I wasn't.
Uh yes, yes, I became a fan and he was
(10:36):
a quarterback for years, a couple of years after the
Super Bowl. But it was like Richard Todd and uh,
you know Ken O'Brien was. You know, we had that
run with Ken O'Brien. Yeah, Vinny Testa Verdie. I got
to play golf with Vinny test of Verdie once. That
was great. Um, until with you I see some clubs
(11:00):
in the background. I'm ready, I'll golf. Yeah. How was Benny?
Did he hit him long? We played in Tahoe together,
so everybody hits him long in Tahoe because you're up
at altitude, you know. Uh yeah, I thank you. And
then we had you know, Chad Pennington was. It was
a It was a big favorite in my house, you know.
(11:23):
Um but uh, you know, Ken O'Brien had that season
where he was ten and oh they were ten and
oh and then they lost the last six games. Yeah,
but then then they won the playoff. In the playoffs,
they won the first round. I think, yeah, well, I've
been a Jet fan for yeah, for for since nineteen
(11:45):
seventy and you know, I'm sticking around. I'm waiting. I'm
still waiting, and we're you know, we got close a
couple of times with you. Of course. No, it is interesting,
you know as you go along, especially you were talking
about your kids, um, and so passing along that fandom.
Are all your kids Jets fans along the way as well? Yeah,
(12:08):
I have three boys and one girl. Uh so the boys,
and I will say, if I'm being honest, they're more
hardcore than I ever was. Um, I mean they really are.
I mean you met him, Nick, you met him at
the game last two weeks ago. But um, they they
suit up for every game, you know. Um, and they
(12:31):
got to a point where it was too much. It
was like they would take every loss hard, you know. Yeah,
And I remember I have one. I had twin boys,
identical twins. And I remember one game they were playing,
I think it was Miami and it was a Monday
night game. And this is at least ten years ago,
(12:51):
maybe more, because they would have kind of like tantrums
when the Jets would lose, you know. And I remember
we were watching them one day night game in my
office in my house, and they might have been fourteen
fifteen maybe, and I could tell it was going to
go south. The Jets had to lead, and it just
(13:14):
looked like this wasn't gonna end well in the last
two minutes, and I warned them. I said, guys, I
don't want I don't want any kind of crazy crap
happening when if this doesn't go right, and it's sure enough,
with six seconds left, I think Miami scored and we lost.
Game was over. Both of them stood up and just
(13:36):
hit the floor, face down on the floor, and I
just start yelling at him, what did I tell you?
What did I tell you? And they wouldn't move, so
I couldn't take it. I left the room. I came
back forty five minutes later, the same the same exact spot,
(13:59):
and so I start yeah again and then I realized
they had fallen asleep. They fell asleep in that position.
Here we go. What's crazy is that? Was sometimes me
and Nick Bengal at halftime. I'm basically your kids, and
Nick's you. So yeah. I come back and Mark just
falling asleep after during attention. But they are they are
(14:20):
super super hardcore. Yeah, um so, um. We did a
little research here and uh, give me some quarantine update.
It says you're on the Late Late Show during a
family's scavenger hunt with your twin boys, Greg and Matt,
and you said your most prized possession was your New
York Jets bathrobe. Is that's still the case. It's still
(14:42):
the case. But I but I swore I wouldn't wear
it until they were in the super Bowl. I'm gonna
wear it for the super Bowl. There you go? And
are you wait? Are you gonna be at the super
Bowl in the road, because that's I don't know, it
depends depends where it is. Um. But because you're a
West Coast guy, right, yeah, I live in l A now.
(15:04):
Yeah yeah, but I think you know what the truth
is if if if we're in the Super Bowl, my
boys are gonna make me go to They're gonna make
us go to the game. You gotta go, Yeah, I
guess so, I guess, so just wear the robe. Yeah,
you know what if if they make the super Bowl
and we're at the game, I will wear the robe
(15:26):
if we're in a suite, not if we're out with public.
I don't know. That might be scared, right, I will, um,
I will also make this pletch to you if we
are in the Super Bowl. I will also wear my
Jets robe. Who got you? That? Was that? You? I
thought they just are you kidding? I don't remember? Right?
(15:49):
That was my offensive lineman gift one year along with
other cool stuff. And it's this awesome robe with their number,
their name on it. Nick would wear it every Friday
when you do his spa day, get his massage. You
do was hot tub cold tub contrast the whole deal.
You see how he treats me. Do you do that?
Do you do the hot plunge on the cold plunge
(16:09):
next to each other? It was the best thing in
the world. It's one of the So people always ask like,
what do you miss most about not playing anymore? Do
you miss the game? And I was like, no, I
like feeling good in the morning when I wake up.
Things I missed the most is the people in the
locker room, the camaraderie. And number two is always the
hot tub cold tub right next to you at the
facility here. Um, they're right next to each other, so
(16:31):
you can go, you can, you know, be in the
hot tub, kick your legs over and you're in the
cold tub. You go back and forth. It's a magical experience.
It's healthy, right, it's healthy for you, right, supposed to
be like blood flow and all that and soreness. It
helps the convenience of the whole thing, right because they
are right next to each other. All you gotta do
short walk to the steam room and sauna, so like
(16:56):
right there, it's an executive triathlon. I'd see Mike cannon
Bomb and Rex Ryan in those tiny little gray shorts
just walking around doing their little triathlon thing, and Rex like,
we got the third big baby. I'm gonna try and
hang in there. You know, Rex and tiny shorts is
uh is an image, it's none. Yeah, we wish we
(17:20):
had a road for him. You could have gotten him
a robe mess up. I think that's funny. So wet.
I now have to interject in my fandom. Um, everyone
loves Raymond Amazing sitcom had a great run, um well
beloved by I think everybody. Um. And while it was
(17:42):
in its height, I was in college, so I kind
of missed, um the live you know, airing of things.
But once we moved to Long Island, once I got drafted.
Uh two thousand and six and I moved along island. Um.
And you know, my wife and I were here. We
hadn't we didn't have any friends or anything. We just
had the team. UM. And so we got more in
the sitcoms and everything, and we got sucked into everyone
(18:04):
loves Raymond. And I will admit to you that I
I have the box set of DVDs that came in
shape like the house that is in the opening credits. Um.
I also own everything on Apple TV. So I have
seen many episodes. There's there's the cast right there are
(18:25):
character of the whole cast. That's some some painter did. Yeah,
I love it. And so to me, Um, we always
get asked like, oh, what's your favorite memory from playing
with the Jets, And most people would like to hear hey, like, yeah,
beating the Patriots in the chair in the playoffs was
a huge win for us and those type of things.
(18:47):
Is there something to you, like your favorite memory, um,
from that sitcom that maybe isn't like the well known
like hey, yeah, I love this episode because everyone else
loves it. Is there something from that that sitcom that
you just you enjoy you know personally? I mean, if
(19:08):
I have to pick an episode. My my, I have
a favorite first half of an episode. And I don't
know how big a fan you are, but you might
remember this one if you are. It's, uh, when my
brother is dating a girl. She comes over the house
and she eats a bug. She eats a fly. Yeah, yeah,
(19:36):
he has Listen. I love that you're a fan of
the show, and I appreciate it. Uh. So I'm not
saying this. I'm saying this with love. It's everybody loves Raymond,
not everyone loves Raymond. You've been saying everyone loves Raymond.
Have I been saying that? Yes, it's everyone. But that's
(19:59):
not good. That's common thing. It's a common thing. Um,
I don't worry about it. But yeah, man, ye, Mark's
gonna hold that up. You realize Mark's gonna hold that
over my head. I can't wait to tell that story
next time where at dinner or something. It doesn't take away,
it doesn't take away from from this is Um that's funny.
(20:25):
But yeah, but did you eat the bug on set?
Like for real? Just no, we have you know, we
had a fake fly. She kills a fly, it drops
and then it's it's like the props coming in and
it's and it's a raising thing and and then then
it ends up. He doesn't believe me when I tell her,
I tell her this is not He thinks she's the
(20:46):
one and I tell her she's not the one man.
She just ate a fly, and he won't believe me.
And then we find out she's a freaky frog. Way
to Yeah, that's based on a you know, my brother
in real life. The show is based on my situation.
So my brother was in New York City cop and
(21:07):
he was a single guy. And he wasn't six ft
eight like Brad Garrett was, but yeah, um, but my
he would tell these stories of these women he would
date and and the true story is it was a
snake woman. He when he went into no, no, no,
she just had freakies. She she had snakes all over
(21:29):
her house, you know, here, there, there, and it's spooked her.
He went home with her after a date and he
went in the bedroom and there were too many there
were too many snakes. And when when she went to
the bathroom, he climbed out the window. And that's what
my brother does. Yeah, yeah, and that's in the in
the in the show, that's what we have. Brad Garrett
(21:51):
to climb out the window. Yeah, I don't know what
the limit is. I don't know what the over under
is on how many is normal for snakes. Uh, it
doesn't sound like you added run to the party. I
don't know if that's going to make the cut. But yeah,
until you climb out the window. But but yeah, as
far as the most you know, the most fun I
(22:11):
had really was, I gotta be honest. I was in
the writer's room, you know, and every day in the
writer in the room with these writers, you know, we
just had so much fun, you know, coming up with stories,
you know, because everybody would take stuff from their own life,
you know. My the show runner, Phil Rosenthal, would just
that's the way we would write stories. She would come
(22:33):
in and say, okay, guys, what happened in your life?
And you know, we'd be saying, I think I had
an argument with my wife. I think it's a show,
you know. And and a lot of times our wives
would say, you know, if you were having an argument,
they would tell you that. She would say to me,
I don't want to see this on the show this week,
(22:53):
and I would and I would tell her to go
cry on a bag of money. Sorry, that's horrible. That's
really good. That's the content we're looking for, right, But
you talked about the writer's room. I feel like that's
a good segue because, um, you recently make your directorial debut,
(23:15):
is that correct, Um, in somewhere in Queens, and it's
a film you co wrote coming out April. Correct, April, sorry,
April one is gonna be in theaters actually, um a
sorry sorry sorry, yes, yes, this April it will be
(23:38):
in theaters. Um. But yeah, I wrote it. Um, it's
been It's kind of inspired by my life somewhat. You know.
It's an Italian family growing up in Queens, living in Queens.
And you know, my son played uh high school bad
(24:00):
scootball with the Holiday brothers, you know, Drew Holiday and
Aaron Holiday. Yeah, my son is six ft five, I think,
Mickey you met him a couple of weeks ago. And
so he played center on his high school team. And
I used to get a kick out of going and
watching him play. Uh, And you know, I would get
(24:21):
all this attention, you know, because my son was the
starting center on the high school team, and I kind
of it's pathetic, but I love the attention, like I
didn't have enough attention, you know, I got a TV show,
I gotta thing. But I really love this attention that
I was getting from my son being one of the
kids on the team, one of the players, and playing
(24:44):
with a kid who was going to go pro. And
then when he graduated, he was six ft five and
he really didn't have any guard skills, so we knew
he wasn't going to play college, you know, because you're
a guard at six ft five in college. And so
his high school, his basketball career was gonna be over.
And I got sad, you know, like I said, I'm
(25:04):
gonna miss this, you know what about me? Yeah, it's
I mean, it is kind of really sad. But but
but that's what inspired the thought of what if this
was just uh, an ordinary Joe Schlove guy, you know,
who is kind of invisible in his real life, but
(25:24):
but gets to be a little bit of a star
and living vicariously through his son. And now it's going away.
And so that's kind of the story that I wrote
about this Italian family and Queen's dealing with that, and
the father wants the kid to go to college and play,
and and they want him to come in the family
business and we'll see. Laurie Medcalf played my wife um
(25:46):
Sebastia Maniscalco's in it Um. We played at a festival,
at the Triback of Film Festival, and people seem to
like it, so we'll see. I don't wanna. I don't wanna.
I don't want to overhype it. That is it too
early for me to ask for Mark and I to
get tickets to the premiere here in New York City?
Or is it should I wait a little bit. No,
(26:08):
it's not. It's not too early to ask, but it's
too early for me to say yes. No, I'm no.
Nick rolls about twenty deep. He's kind of like you know,
Dion Sanders, like Prime. Just my kids, you know what,
bring Just bring sauce with you so my kids will
be excited too. I'll be excited with you guys. There
(26:31):
also that I can do. You look at an invite.
I'll send you an invite for sure, Lovely Mark won't
be able to make it because he's in l A
and doesn't like come out to New York. There might
be an l A premiere. I'll fly to l A
then take that, Nikki. I don't have anything else going on.
I'll fly to l A. Thank you so much for
coming on with us. Right, we're gonna finish up. We
(26:52):
got uh you like to finish up with the rapid
fire questions just top your mind. Anything happens first. Um,
so I'm gonna hit you with the first one. Would
you rather go to Peter Luker's or Delmonico's? Oh, Peter Lugers,
I need I need to meet Yeah, all right. Are
(27:15):
you Are you a surprise guy or do you need
everything planned out? I'm I'm very anal man and add neurotic.
I need a plan. I like surprises, but I need
a plan. Yeah, I'm too I'm too neurotic and anal alright,
so Mark put away the surprise. We'll say that for
next time. All Right, if you're in the city, do
(27:38):
you take the subway or the taxi? Oh? Man, I
got a taxi. Like I said, I'm neurotic. I'm too
close your phobic for the subway. Yeah, okay. I'm worried
about a camp also, but I'll take a camp. Yeah,
you're just going around worrying, man. Camp scares. Yeah, I
(27:59):
can just see you on the street. Oh yeah, I really,
everything's there. Um, this is a tough one. Would you
rather see the future or change the past? I would rather.
I don't want to see the future because then, uh,
(28:19):
you know, I want I don't want to know what's
gonna happen. Then life doesn't seem as exciting, you know.
But I there's a lot of crap in the past.
I would change join the club, alright, So coming into
the city, would you rather come into JFK Leaguardia or Newark?
(28:42):
You mean, if I for whatever reason, for whatever reason,
see that box set of DVDs, Nick, I fly private,
but just tell Row you right, I wanta go Teterborrow.
I would go uh if I had listen, I'm a
bad flyer, so uh, you can't even take a taxi.
(29:04):
I'd be scared to fly with you. Commercial commercial plates
scared me too, But I would go Hyeah. I used
to work in the airport. I used to work at Kennedy.
Um on the baggage claim, Um, no way, yeah, I go. Uh.
I probably go LaGuardia because it's closer at home, you know, alright,
but really the real answers titter Burrow. I mean, if
(29:26):
I could a man of the people, I'm a tauru. Yeah,
it's my only Uh, it's a neurotic indulgence. It's just
because I'm I'm paranoid and clostrophobic and and I'm scared
of you know, it's the control you have. But I
don't do that though, don't. I'm not gonna. I'm not
signing the release for this. You gotta rationalize. It's all
(29:49):
good man, you work your buzz. Mark hat a helicopter deal.
He only flew out of Morristown, so I was back
in my prime. U. Uh, all right, last one Empire
State Building or Statue of Liberty. I guess Empire State
Building because uh, this way, I don't have to get
(30:11):
on a boat. Right, I'm really worried about traffling. But
you have to get but you have to get an
elevator in either one. Ya. No, I mean I do it.
I do it, but I'm in therapy, and you know
I work my way through it. You know, escalators, I'm okay, elevators.
(30:36):
I I go in an elevator, but uh, you know
I'm holding my breath. Yeah, yeah, it's not easy. Thank
you so much for your time today. Guys. Come on,
all right, let's do it. Let's do it this year.
I'm rooting for you and I'll see you with the
rob on. Right there we go. I have my robe.
(30:57):
I got white and green so I can home more away.

wind Bet. Nick Mangoled, Your co host Mark Sanchez. We
just got done with ray Romano. Um, I have my
(32:03):
foot in my mouth by saying everyone loves Raymond and
not everybody loves Raymond. Um. That sucks, I know. But
the interview was amazing, classic, classic man golf. I mean
that is just that fits the bill. Yeah, come on
the one chance you get to talk to um. I
(32:28):
you know, I grew up watching him and or not
grew up and like I watched him, especially my younger years.
The NFL being on Long Island, have that connection. And
then to go and completely mess up the title of
the show. Uh, not great, Bob, not great, not great.
So there's that. That's and you know what, that's why
(32:49):
it's okay listen, I'm gonna go golf with them. We'll
send you pictures. I'll smooth it over for you can't golf,
I can. I choose not to. No, you can't, and
you choose not to. You lived on a golf course
for how many years? Five? And how many times did
(33:09):
you go out on that golf course shoulder surgery not
to shoot deer with You want to tell that little
story that was a part of a county initiative to
mark the specific deer and venison in the area color coded.
Were you hitting, were you going between the dough and
(33:33):
the bus or was it just whatever you could find. Listen,
I'll send you the whole print out. It's a big,
long deal. We are hoping. I just I want to
hear about it because I think it's gla helping the
riding a golf cart around shooting deer with the paintball.
That's all hearsay. Um okay, speaking of hearsay, New Year's resolutions?
(34:00):
Are you a New Year's resolution guy? I just have
a hard time with that that you know New Year
knew me. It's the same old you. It just gets
to be a worse version. Here's the problem. Maybe I'm
a doomsday when it comes to there. Here's the problem
I have with New Year's resolutions, and it's a product
of birth. My birthday is January. So any New Year's
(34:21):
resolution I make that would would potentially better myself. I
will guarantee ruin by the second week of January because
it's my birthday. So I want to enjoy my birthday.
Show like, hey, you know I'm gonna stop doing this
or I'm gonna start doing this. I'm gonna start you know, like,
whatever it is, it's gonna be. I can't set a
(34:43):
resolution because I know within two weeks it's going to
be broken. So that's fair. So I don't have the
birthday issue, but I just you know, the two week
thing is pretty much my limit. You know, there's like
whole thirty like where you gotta eat healthy for thirty
days and a week or two in. I'm like, you know,
I'm good with healthy, happy, So I like that. I
(35:06):
think that's good, right, I think that's fair. I like that,
you know, everything in in moderation. I say that, and
then moderation becomes like whatever, I'll do whatever I want.
Moderation quickly gets shoved into excess excess. Yes, but but again,
I don't know. It's I always I blame it on
(35:28):
my birthday. It's probably just my own personal um issues.
But the fact that like knowing I'm staring down the barrel,
like if my birthday was in like August, like, oh,
you know what, New Year's resolution, I'm going to be
better about this, like because what's in January? There's really
nothing in January. That's why people do dry January because
(35:50):
there's nothing there. Um, I don't know how people do
that with all the playoff games. Yeah, I mean I
get the playoff games, the game, yeah, but then you're
it's almost like you're holding out hope for the super Bowl,
so like you're making it to February. Um, that's fair,
but that's fair. But like knowing that I have a
(36:10):
birthday in two weeks and like, all right, what am
I gonna Like I'm getting giving myself a pass for
that weekend? Like I mean, obviously i am, But then
I end up the weekend becomes a week next thing,
you know, it's February. Next thing you know, it's like,
oh god, it's spring break. Now it's still look terrible
(36:31):
spring break. We're too old for spring break. Um not
when you have kids, chief, your dj DJA is getting
up there all of a sudden, All of a sudden,
you're gonna start realizing that, Hey, listen, spring break is
kind of a real deal because you're in the You're
you're going through school. Now. I know you have the big,
big gig of going around and doing the broadcasting things
(36:55):
and whatnot. But for some of us, we live by
the school calendar. Like I'm so excited about uh, spring
break and summer break. Because that's when the kids are off,
and that's what I'm off, because it gets it gets
a lot, Like I know, you have people working for you.
You know, you got nanny's, you got cleaners, you've got people,
(37:17):
you've got drivers, like you know, you barely see DJ
like it's just you got you wear one hat and
that's it. Some of us wear like five hats, all right.
And and so when you get to like when you're
when you're getting there when they get older, especially when
you get multiples, and you're staring down like, hey, listen,
(37:40):
we got a week where we can go on vacation,
we can get out of this place, we can do
different things. So that's when you hire the nanny to
watch the kids at home and you guys go on
spring break. That would be actually, that would be fantastic.
If I could ever plan that out, that would be amazing.
But I feel like I feel like the guilt would
just destroy me. But this year, actually this year, we're
(38:01):
going to Germany for spring break. So that's what's out there.
Um a whole another country. Yeah, thanks, yeah, thanks to
mention that um no, it was part of So last
year we went to europe um and we did a
whole European vacation centered around the jets playing in London.
(38:22):
UM and Germany was on our list, but because the
restrictions and everything with COVID, we weren't able to do it,
so we pushed it off. And so now we're making
a German centric trip for spring break. Awesome, so it'd
be fun for the kiddo. I wish, I wish you
would appreciate just like a little bit more. I'm a
little upset that you're not. I do we go on
(38:44):
a family trip. We went to Hawaii last year, so
I get it. But you said it like spring break
like alright, well I'm not going down like Canku Mexico
and getting wild like it's just neither mine. Oh you
just go to other places in Mexico. Um and no, sorry,
we got stuff Tom pack. We're gonna have to push
this to the next episode. I had a blast, Thank you,
(39:06):
NICKI was absolutely legend, right, legend. We should get more
comedians were I like commedians. But it was a great episode.
