Speaker 1 (00:04):
Welcome to the Exchange, presented by win Bet with Nick
Mangled and Mark Sanchez. How you doing, Buddy, Episode one,
Let's Dominate? Uh oh, we got some housekeeping Emmy nominated show,
Let's go. So so now we need to kind of
bring up some more bangers, all right, And I think

(00:26):
I think we have a good start. I think we
have a good start. We're coming out hot. We're going
to start with a quarterback. Talk to me cause let's roll.
You're ready, I'm in ready Yeah. Mark Sanchez now goes No,
we are going to have Aaron Rodgers on episode one,
and I'm really excited about it. You know, I think

(00:48):
it's his excitement for the organization and everything that's being
brought in from him being here has been unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
You could just feel the energy. Yeah, when you're here.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
I mean they have grand stands for training camp.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
It was packed.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Practice was packed, and so you obviously Aaron has embraced
his time here and in one of the things when
he first got here or when he was the whole
courtship time when he was on the McFee show and
he said his intentions to come to New York as
a former New York Jets player. I took a little

(01:26):
bit of pride in that that he wanted to come
to New.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
York, that he wanted to come here. Yeah, I like that.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
Well, this was remember in twenty ten. This is a
pretty hot destination. Thomlinson, Jason Taylor.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
We signed two other guys.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Who else do we have? Art Crow? Good call?

Speaker 4 (01:49):
I just rewatched another There was another huge pre agent,
I said, Ladanian, Right, yeah, Ladanian.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
Well, regardless, people wanted to come here.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
People wanted to come here, and so there's that same
kind of feeling. And he obviously has embraced New York City.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
Oh yeah, Broadway, Broadway concert.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Concert games, games, games. I don't know if he went
to a Rangers game, but I know he went, nickt
did he?

Speaker 1 (02:14):
I don't know if he wants to a Rangers game.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
Are we gonna like pin him down, Are we gonna
pin him down on who's his favorite team just to
get him in hot water?

Speaker 1 (02:21):
No, we don't want to do that.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Like watch him say the Yankees and not the Mads
and just like.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
That would be good. Has he got a baseball game?

Speaker 2 (02:31):
I don't know. He should throw out the first pitch
is what he should do.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Probably, So it's what was your experience God with this? Well,
do you have any advice that you shoot? I don't
know if he needs advice. I don't think he does know,
but if you were to give him another, I'm.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
Glad he's he's taking that in because those are some
of my favorite memories.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
That's and that's one thing that I appreciate. I did,
Like I took in the city. I didn't go. I
wasn't cool enough, so I didn't have like all the
celebrity stuff, but like we still went into the city
and we we did different things, and they embraced like
you're in New York City, why not going to be here?

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Why not take advantage of what you can do? Exactly right?
And I wish I would have been cool celebrity though,
go into.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
Movie premieres and Broadway shows and bringing guys on the
team like that was one of my favorite things, taking
guys to Broadway shows who never really would go, or
bringing their wives. That was always the winner. You bring
the wives and then you know later on when the
boys need a night, like get a pass, you get
to go hang with the boys, you know.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
So I just a flowers. Yeah, Mother's Day.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Mother's Day flowers. Mothers Day flowers A genius move, except
when they show up at the door. Who sends you flowers?
I will cut this man, kill somebody. But I think
it's I'm looking forward to talking to them. I know
that it's he's really embraced his time here, and you know,
I think it's gonna be I think it's gonna be

(04:06):
a lot of fun.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
He's doing it right.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
I'm intrigued to see what comes up. You too, get
him in here. We should do it all right. Let's
take Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Come on, come on, welcome Aaron Rodgers. How about that Nick?
Finally start? This is how we're gonna start.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
I hear you have one of these silly little phone
cases that I've seen a lot of soccer moms with.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Mine's not silly.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
You can put your Costco card right here, your license.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Shout out to a safe sleeve. This protect emf radiation
free shout out.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Dude. People got to pay when.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
When in your pocket you want kids, you're probably done.
Oh is that a thing might not be done?

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Is that a thing?

Speaker 3 (04:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (04:43):
The radiation or whatever?

Speaker 1 (04:44):
If it is, because this has.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
The jets logo to block your radiation.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Thank you so much. Yeah, I appreciate that. We'll find
to get home for it. I got a special special
drawer for these.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Things, the garbage round. Finally, cabinet nice.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Never, I didn't bring any gifts.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
Sorry, favorite part non football so far being in New York.
Next Games, Broadway Show, what was like?

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Oh, that's tough. I'm gonna say the wrong answer either way,
probably so.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Uh, somehow you're gonna make somebody.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
I'm wanna piss somebody off. You can't please I say
Taylor Swift. They won't let me back to MS if
I say MSG. Let'll be mad because the Taylor Swift
and the Ed Shearon where it mett life. So I'm
gonna take those out. Those are incredible. And I'm gonna
say something real random, and I'm gonna say Taylor Swift concert,

(05:40):
it was a marathon. Yeah, I just yeah, you didn't
know what it was.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Did you love it? Though?

Speaker 3 (05:44):
I did love it?

Speaker 2 (05:45):
I did marathon? It was? Was it? Dude? Forty songs?

Speaker 3 (05:50):
Forty more than that? Like forty okay, yeah, don't all
you for short change her?

Speaker 4 (05:56):
You forget how many? And she's on it the whole time, dude.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
And changing outfits.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Oh bro, it's a wow.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
I personally, and this might come to shock, have no
musical bone in my body. Can't carry rhythm, rhyme, none
of that. So I'm always impressed by a musicians.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
I'm offended by that, so as you should be.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
And the fact that, like I went to my first
Fish show last year and the way that those guys
are just jamming.

Speaker 4 (06:27):
Yeah, and I was like, this is amazing. Taylor Swift
and Fish. Yeah sick dude, you can have the Swifties
after you. Bro, did you get any fine?

Speaker 3 (06:37):
I did? I got a lot.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
Come on.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
People were given to me because one of the other
cool things is I hadn't been to MetLife as jet
and I wanted to see the locker room. So I
was like once we got there before the show started,
I think Phoebe was on and there's intermission actually between
the two, and I was like, can I see the
locker room? I want to see what they didn't hanging out? No,

(07:01):
they did, but I was walking through the crowd and
people were like, Hey, do you want to braces?

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Like give me that?

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Hey, what do you want give me? August? You know
you're speaking whatever you know this, kep g me.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
Do you have a favorite album?

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Folklore?

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Really?

Speaker 3 (07:13):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Interesting? Okay, I never beat Aaron Rodgers. Welcome to the club.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
We're in a good club, all right.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
That one time.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
Yeah, you're a good singer.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
We had a great karaoke night did you at the
Chateau San Chez.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
Great singer, great dancer.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
He is a good dancer. He's a good dancer.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
I've seen you dance really good.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
Did you know? W a fun? Fact and I had
our first Pro Bowl together?

Speaker 3 (07:41):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (07:42):
What's that like?

Speaker 1 (07:43):
It was in Hawaii?

Speaker 2 (07:45):
Oh, the cool one.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
Yeah, we went.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
It was cool.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
It was your first end my first oh nine? Yeah,
but was that in Hawaii? Yes it was, No, it wasn't.
Oh nine was in Hawaii? Orlando in Florida. Now there's
twenty ten, Yeah, twy ten. I was there the twenty
ten it was, But January I wasn't there. You didn't go.

(08:13):
I didn't. Two thousand and eight was my first year starting.
I don't know about you. I been talking for myself here.
I didn't make the Pro Bowl. Actually, I'm surprised too now.
I thought, Wow, two thousand and nine season I made
the Pro Bowl. That one was and that was Miami.
That was my first proble was it?

Speaker 2 (08:30):
So?

Speaker 1 (08:31):
M were you there in Miami?

Speaker 3 (08:34):
You didn't make that one?

Speaker 2 (08:35):
You mean that one? That was? That was?

Speaker 1 (08:38):
That was when we all got booed in Miami, the
Jets players because we were in Miami.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Makes sense?

Speaker 3 (08:45):
Yeah, okay, that was a fun year though. To me,
that was actually more fun than Hawaii one. Why why
I've been voted in a few times. I've only been twice.
I think I went after the fourteen I think it
was the twelve season, maybe it was the last year
of it was the first year of nobody playing hard.

(09:08):
First play the game, I headed off to Lashawan McCoy
and he ran up in the line and kind of
like there's a little you know, sarcasta ball hugging and stuff.

Speaker 4 (09:17):
And then brother in lawn I was like, yeah, this
is you know format. Would you participate in the new format?

Speaker 3 (09:26):
What is it?

Speaker 2 (09:27):
They played like flag football and they have like dodgeball
and like all these other games.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
Yeah, probably not. I don't have as good an excuse
as Phil Rivers had the one year.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
What did he say?

Speaker 3 (09:37):
I just had my eighth Kid's.

Speaker 4 (09:42):
Got a damn baseball team? You are on Hard Knocks.
But this is not your first HBO show. Yeah, allegedly,
tell us about that. Tell us about uh, your time on.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
Game of Thrones. Yeah, that's my time on accounts.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
Did you think it was going to be.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
I was on set all day. I was at no listen.
I can't be pissed. I love the show, except for
the last season. I see the last couple of episodes,
but I was in London on a vacation. I planned
it around the same time, so I was in Europe
in London for a few days, and then I went
to Belfast where they were shooting, and got there early,

(10:28):
got in my garb. There was like four hundred extras.
It was the if you know the show, the second
last episode. I'm a penultimate episode kind of guy for
my time on the office, so I was like perfect,
I got, you know, a lot of FaceTime. One small issue. Now,
I don't know if this was why I got cut

(10:48):
out or not, but they put us in the garb
of townspeople and Aria is running through King's landing trying
to get out of the city right as the dragons
is scorching, and we're me and this other guy are
kind of like helping people move bodies, and there's crazy
blood and makeup and disfigurement everywhere. And there's multiple times

(11:12):
where I'm in the shot one small isshoe. The other
guy from America who was there was a friend of
the writers, and he wouldn't wear his hat. So he's
supposed to wear this red hat, King's landing hat, and
so he had a lot of gel in his hair.
I think that might have cut out both of us
from the shot that wanting to wear the hat. I

(11:35):
can't confirm it deny that, but I do know there
was multiple times where we were all over the shot,
and you know, from Aria's perspective over his shoulder the
first one, we're carrying the body out. And so you know,
the only thing I took a lot of offense about
was people saying I was that guy running around who

(11:55):
was leg was flailing out to the side, super unathletic person.
I said, listen, I might not be as athletic as
I used to be.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Come on, but don't call me that.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
Don't call me that.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
Guy that's bad.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
So when you watch it, I remember I was watching it,
and my agent was watching it because he had been
there with me and we're huge fans of the show,
and you know, I was kind of pumped, like I'm
gonna get like maybe fifteen seconds, gonna be awesome, Like
and Sharon, you know credit, we're gonna get sing a song, sorry,
get to sing a song. But but I'm like, I'm
a good little FaceTime.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
That's crazy.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
And then it was like boom, there's my body. Yep,
there's no head. And I was like, I mean, I'm
in the smoke somewhere in the background. And then you
like rewind it back super slow and like freeze frame
and like frame by frame, like well, there's the outline
of my face kind of yeah, that's yeah, it's me
right there.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
I promise. It took a lot of I was like that,
that's really funny.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
I was, but I love the show and uh, no qualms.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
Did you get a cameo credit?

Speaker 3 (12:53):
Good question. I don't know why they would have needed to,
because again, if you unless you're me or my agent
who was there on set where the guy wouldn't put
the hat on, you probably didn't know who was there.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
Did you get to meet the cast and everybody?

Speaker 3 (13:06):
No, just Ario was there, that's it. Everybody. Oh, I
think everybody wrapped, crafty, you get any good food? Yeah,
and great food, really great food, Banger's and mash.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
You're in IMDb for being in the show. You know that?

Speaker 3 (13:18):
Am I really?

Speaker 2 (13:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (13:20):
Credit, You've been in a lot of shows.

Speaker 4 (13:22):
So my story is I was gonna be on SNL.
Tina Fe is hosting Justin Bieber My World two point zero.
His album's coming out when he had the swim pair
and so I'm like fanning out. He asked me to
sign a jersey like I was stoked, and they're like,
you're gonna sing I'm every Woman or every Woman by
Chaka Khan with Tina.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Fe and Justin Bieber.

Speaker 4 (13:43):
It's like sweet, nice lines get cut. They're like, no,
we just want you to go up there and smile.
I was like, okay, that was no lines, nothing coach me.
But I still get like seven bucks in the mail
when it airs.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
Yeah, I got a checks from the office.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
It was like, oh, yeah, you're tight with bone guarter right, Yeah, you're.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Like dollars sixty five to twenty.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
Do you think cash them?

Speaker 3 (14:10):
I don't know where they are, specially they're in my
special drawer.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
I think.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
So are you on strike now?

Speaker 2 (14:16):
Yeah? Are you gonna go pick it. Yeah, what's the deal.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
I couldn't make it out there in time.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
But yeah, okay, totally fair.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
Voice of God, our voice of God. Oh yeah, market
on IMDb. I've got no credit anywhere.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
I know. That's a waste. What a waste.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
I don't believe that.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
I don't. I'm really not.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
Let me fact check that, Nate check that out.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
I'm curious the change, Yes, from holding the ball to
now you spit it out anywhere?

Speaker 3 (14:46):
A lot of practice, a lot of practice. The hardest
practice was going from where I threw at a junior
college to cal and back because Jeff Tedford was like,
you got to hold the ball on the shelf, and I.

Speaker 4 (14:57):
Was like, and the ball would stick out? Yeah, like
it looked almost uncomfortable.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
It was uncomfortable. Yeah, you know, yes, I well since then,
not at the time, even you know, when you're in college.
I don't know you guys, you probably didn't, but no.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
I really did.

Speaker 1 (15:13):
I was like, you're scared of Okay, it was a
new era.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
Yeah, but I was, you know, talked back to them.
What if I just throw it like I did when
you recruited me at JUCO and you liked me, not
good enough. It's pretty good then, yeah, but it messed
with the timing my rookie year, I felt like because
to go from here where there's no waste of movement,
and not that there's waste of move from here, it's
this extra movement, so it changes the everything really, the hitching,

(15:42):
the timing and putting your foot down. Also, our drop
was super weird. At Cow we said, do this thing.
We would like be on the line and have our
left foot right down the line our right foot like
angled back perpendicularly to each other and drop back like
that's the weirdest thing ever. Really, it's most bizarre drop.
And it was just like work on keeping your left
shoulder open or something.

Speaker 4 (16:00):
Just it was pointless, almost like your feet go behind themselves, like.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
I know what you're doing here all the time.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
But I think that's the you know, it's interesting. I
don't know if you've ever had quarterback coaches, but there's
so many people that think they know how to teach
a position and are teaching the wrong stuff. I think
a lot of it is even in the coaching world,
there's this idea that, uh, you know, if we over
complicate things, that means we have more knowledge than somebody else,

(16:31):
and that means we have this cloud to be able
to say something. And you know, it's this idea of
like this esoteric quarterback knowledge. When it's rude, it's very simple.
It's about timing, rhythm and balance at the quarterback position.
A guy throws the way through it. You can work
on little things, I think, but once you get to
be in the pros, it's tough to really tweak a

(16:51):
lot of the throwing stuff. But the mechanics from the
ground up I think can be can really be worked on.
And that's where guys don't spend his time on. They're
working on. You know. I see people try to throw
like I do, you know, with my with my foot
stuff that I do, And I'm and like because everybody
asked me why I do it? When I tell you,
I did it because my knee was killing me for
twenty years. I had to find ways to offload my
left knee on my throat no way, yeah, oh wow.

(17:15):
And in the process of doing that, I realized how
important it is to get rotational force instead of uh
forward movement, and how that changed my entire throwing. As
I was using the ground to harness ground force and
the rotational force instead of forward force. And then to
play more on my toes instead of uh more flat

(17:36):
footed where they because when we're going up. I don't
know if you remember this, but it was like, stay
off your toes, don't get off your toes. Get off
your toes. Every athlete plays in their toes. Every sport
you get to play in your toes. But the whole
point is, you know I and we actually met at
Lee eleven when you were in high school. Yes, a
long long time ago, but I think it's it's silly.

(17:58):
There are people some people think they really and how
to tea sup quarterback quarterback position, when in fact it's
actually very simple. But it's in the simplicity that you
can find the details that can actually make a difference
with the guy. And that's why I loved working with
Zach because Zack has all the ability in the world.
He can throw it, so he can, he can move
and throw.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
It, he can body, he's got it all.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
Yeah, you can throw them off the platform, but can
we can we get him to throw the ball fundamentally
from the ground up, because then you add that to
the other stuff and then you're in the category of
some of these guys who can really do it all
and can last and lead because at some point they're
running around stuff. You got to play from the pocket,
you know, because either age catches up like with me,
or that's so funny, you get drilled too many times.

(18:40):
And if you can't from.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
The pocket, you got to drop back maybe three to
five times the game. Yeah, in college, it's around ten.
In the NFL, the good teams, you make it to
the final four teams, you're gonna have to throw the
ball yep on a third down and drop back multiple
times anywhere from fifteen plus and go through one progression
to two to three and get your check down or
get out of trouble whatever.

Speaker 3 (19:01):
I don't think it's much different than the NBA. If
you watch the NBA, and I guess you guys are fans,
I'm a huge fan. Regular season basketball, postseason BASKETBLL. What's
the difference. It becomes a half court game in the
in the postseason, and so you have to have, you know,
guys that can win one on one. You have to
have the game changes and it's more about the execution.
In the playoffs, everybody's really good and It comes down

(19:23):
to the windows get smaller, the execution is at a premium.
You're gonna be able to run around do much of
crazy stuff. You gotta be on time. You gotta throw
a ball on rhythm.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
Quarterback.

Speaker 1 (19:35):
Yeah you never did.

Speaker 2 (19:36):
That's pretty awesome. Yeah, thanks dude, that's pretty cool. I
mean I like it.

Speaker 4 (19:41):
Okay, are you guys gonna nerd out on Star Wars
because next a huge Star Wars guy.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
Yeah, I mean we can.

Speaker 3 (19:47):
Would you say that the one, two, and three are
the best? Or charge our banks in that?

Speaker 4 (19:53):
No?

Speaker 1 (19:54):
No, although I like the theory that he is a
sith lord. Like that theory too, It kind of it's
it's weird. Yeah, we won't get deep into it because
then he'll he'll like a little kid. Yeah, he will
go away. But that I do find that intriguing, Like
if he was a sith lord. How that all plays
into it? That keeps me up at night?

Speaker 2 (20:16):
It does?

Speaker 3 (20:16):
It is It's difficult, You'll be fine.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
So you met market at eleven.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
Yes, two thousand, Big Old Ears two thousand and lord,
well it would have been before the four season. Yeah.
It was a wild group of counselors, mostly just two
guys Kyle Orton and Jason Wright.

Speaker 4 (20:39):
I remember it was either Orton or Jonathan Crompton got
me to chew tobacco and I threw a dip in
gotta be Oh, I puked my guts out. We ate
out back steakhouse before we have like a big barbecue.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
Dude, my guts. Oh, I didn't know you couldn't swallow it.
I was like eating, But I guess.

Speaker 1 (20:57):
Disgusting, like hopping on a motorcycle not knowing it's manual.
That's bad, bad ball coach. You know where Aaron and
I met.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
I had a joke, but it's not funny.

Speaker 1 (21:07):
Joint bachelor bachelorette party really in Las Vegas?

Speaker 2 (21:11):
Wait?

Speaker 5 (21:11):
What?

Speaker 2 (21:12):
Yeah, you were at a bachelorette bachelor.

Speaker 3 (21:14):
After after a wedding. It already happened, ye kind, then
they went on where they got courthouse wedding and then
we went to Vegas.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
Then did the Bachelor bachelorrette?

Speaker 4 (21:26):
Yeah yeah, the only real not even hard hitting question.
But yes, the other players, but because they are such
fans of you, like you watched the first couple episodes
of Hard Knocks or no, yes, okay, the first episode
and rightly so, everybody in the building is like, Damn,

(21:51):
that's Aaron.

Speaker 2 (21:51):
Damn, that's Aaron.

Speaker 4 (21:52):
But I'm so glad that people get to see you
as you and a normal human and not just form
opinions based on whatever.

Speaker 2 (22:03):
So it in.

Speaker 4 (22:06):
I guess the question is how do you be one
of the guys and the guy like you know, they're
freaking out talking to you, but you also got to
get them to play, and you've got to motivate them
and you got to you know what I mean, how
does that? How do you build that bridge to those
guys sauce? You know, time on task I'm sure is
part of it. But what's what's the secret there? That's
a great question, Thank you.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
That's deep.

Speaker 3 (22:28):
That is a great question. And you know whether you
use this wording, but you know what it takes because
you were in this position. If I could sum it up,
I would say it very simply that I desire as
a leader to be respected first and liked second. I

(22:50):
believe if you do it the other way around, you'll
get neither. If you try so hard to be liked,
then you won't get the respect that you really want
deep down. So it's not that I'm trying to be
an ass ever. But I want them to respect me first,
So how do I do that in a new system,
new team, new organization. First, I got to go about

(23:12):
my business and lead by example. So they're always watching,
I think, you know, always watch, and you know, they're
always watching what we do. They're watching how we are
in the weight room, They're watching how we talk to people.
They're watching what time we get to the facility, what
time we leave the facility, how are we in the meetings?

Speaker 1 (23:29):
You know, how are we.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
On the practice field, what are our habits like, who
do we talk to, who do we not talk to?
What are we doing outside of facility? They're watching everything?
So who do I want to be is going to
be depicted in my actions more than my words. And
so if I want to be respected by these guys,
which I really do, then making sure I'm leading the

(23:55):
right way and once you get that respect, because I
already have some respect walking in right eighteen years one
MVPs and people know who I am. But I didn't
want to come in just making friends, and you know,
I want to come in and set the tempo, set
the expectations, use my words to set the standard for

(24:15):
how I want this season to be. I really believe
in manifestation, and I didn't want to come in and
and shy away from any of the questions and comments
and ideas that are outside the building.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
You know, how do you do that?

Speaker 3 (24:26):
You set the standard every single day, and that's my
been my approach. Obviously, I cared deeply about the relationships.
That's as you guys know, that's what you miss the
most when you're not out of it, right, is that
time with the guys. And that's what's so fun when
you get together with those guys, right, it's just you
just bs and tell stories and you know, and just
I think about it every time we do a couple
of gatherings every year, and it's just like, this is

(24:47):
the freaking best time to like see those guys you
played with and you battle with. And I deeply desire
that with these guys. But first I wanted to earn
their respect. And once I saw how I worked, how
I talked to the guys, you know, show them how
much you care before they give about what you're saying.
That's usually how it works. So that was my approach

(25:09):
coming in, and I feel like it's been a good
start to that whole thing. I've really been picking my
spots too. You know. I think the best leadership is
authentic in nature, first and foremost, but second understand sometimes
is the time to say something, sometimes the time to defer.
And I'm not a big raw rock guy, so I
don't feel like I need to get in the inner

(25:30):
circle right away and just be breaking the team down
all the time and do stuff. It's not really my personality,
but I think when you pick and choose, and we've
all been around guys who've been on the quieter side.
Sometimes I had Julius Pepper' Shouodent say a whole lot.
Then the one time JP says, you know, everybody's likest
he's talking, he's talking exactly. I think there's something to that.
There's a time and a place for everything, And I

(25:50):
really wanted to kind of earn my stripes with these guys,
even though I'm the old guy in the room, even
though I've been around forever, even though I know what
the expectations are, I wanted to earn the guys respect
uh so that it gave my voice even greater weight.
And that's just that was kind of my approach, and
it's still my approach, and I'm having a hell of
the time.

Speaker 1 (26:10):
They're telling me that we have to wrap up. We
got I don't want to.

Speaker 3 (26:13):
Well, do have one more good question? I have one
good question?

Speaker 1 (26:16):
Yeah, I go favorite Robin Williams movie.

Speaker 3 (26:18):
That's tough.

Speaker 2 (26:20):
Yeah, say you know what's doutfire.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
Honestly, in the last few days, I've watched multiple last
two weeks, probably I've watched multiple Robin Williams films. I
will do one little segue answer or side you know,
side route answer, and then get back to what I
actually think. I really enjoy nicknames, like giving people nicknames.
And Keith Carter, our line coach, is a fiery individual

(26:45):
and him and I have some back and forth from
time and time, all in in love. But I wanted
to get a nickname. And the best nicknames for those
kind of people are ones that kind of kind of
sticking them a little bit. Yeah, So I started calling
them sme from Hook because I used to call Lafleur
Captain Blood, which was a reference to Mighty Ducks two

(27:07):
when Eli starts training them after games and keep them
there long. And I'd do it because you didn't really
like it, you know, And it was a reference to like, hey,
get us out of the building, maybe you know a
little earlier. Every now and then you kind of grind
this a little bit. I can't call Salid captain blood, yeah,
but I kind of like the captain part of it,
so I started calling him captain hook. So then Keith

(27:28):
Carter Shmi. So it's good. Start Cook is not my
favorite Robin Williams movie. It's definitely top three. I'm gonna
have to go on the sentimental route and say Goodwill Hunting.
It's so good in that movie. And there's just that
one scene gets me every time where he's meeting with

(27:49):
Matt Damon. He's got his file. Matt's like, what is
it saying it that you know I have attachment issues
or blah blah blah, and he just says it's not
your fault so many times and he's just such a
sweet moment. My Dame Sars crying, sentimental love, that good moment.

Speaker 2 (28:05):
It is great.

Speaker 3 (28:06):
That's that was the other one I watched less the
last couple of weeks randomly, how's.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
The Hotel Aladdin?

Speaker 3 (28:14):
Okay, here's my problem with that, because we were talking
about I was talking with hacks kids after work today
we're talking about She brought up Bradley Cooper was a
favorite actor, and she mentioned that he's in Guardians of
the Galaxy. All due respect, I can say whatever I want, right,
he's not in it. He voices a character who voices

(28:35):
Rocket the raccoon, So he's definitely a part of the movie, right,
but I think the wording in it. He's in it.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
Yeah, he voices. I see why you have Aladdin issue
with that.

Speaker 3 (28:46):
He voices a character. But his cartoons, okay, voices fantastic.
It's incredible.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
His voice is pretty good.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
Yeah, I don't know you what would you go with this?

Speaker 2 (28:57):
Is that fire really pretty good?

Speaker 3 (28:59):
Your big per bros and fan too?

Speaker 2 (29:00):
Oh yeah, ye, appreciate you, thank you, Yeah, thanks for
kicking off seasons.

Speaker 3 (29:06):
All right, it's all.

Speaker 5 (29:07):
Down here from from here, it really is, Jets fans,
we're in our final push and the clock is ticking.
Win Bet is giving you a golden opportunity to win
VIP prizes for the twenty twenty three season. The win

(29:29):

dollars on win Bets sports book or casino. For New
York customers, all you need to do is wager at
least one hundred dollars on win Bett's sports book. The
best part you get an entry for every one hundred
dollars you wager.

Speaker 1 (29:51):
And that was Aaron Rodgers on the Exchange presented by
wind Bets.

Speaker 2 (29:55):
Love It. That was also start season three.

Speaker 1 (29:58):
That's a banger to start.

Speaker 2 (29:59):
Let's go.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
I love that. I already messed up. No, yeah, I did.
He messed up his proval. I thought he was with
me and why It's okay. So now I've got I've
got Ray Ramono, messed up with him, messed up with
Aaron Rodgers kinda is kind of is maybe I'm not
a smart Did you say to Romano everyone loves Raymond?
I said, I was calling it everyone loves everyone loves Raymond.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
It's everybody Buddy classic.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
So yeah, that's that's kind of the vibe I get.

Speaker 2 (30:32):
I love it. It makes you you, and I love you.

Speaker 1 (30:35):
So I enjoyed when you guys went Q be nerdy dude,
that was.

Speaker 2 (30:39):
Like one of the best breakdowns of the position.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
I kind of want him to teach me. Yeah, I
know I'm a little late, but no, you can still
do you still do it, still sling.

Speaker 2 (30:51):
Just he's so much deeper than people realize, you know.
And and.

Speaker 4 (30:56):
I'm just I said it to him. But I think
Hard Knocks has been a great thing for him. Things
like this kind of interview are great for him because
you see what kind of personality and how thoughtful and
intentional he is.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
Yeah, and I think that's I think that started happening
too a little bit when he started being a regular
guest on the Pat McAfee show, because like that opened
him a little bit more where he has that comfortability
because I think I think a lot of times people
are guarded when they're doing regular media stuff because everyone's
always looking for a gotcha, and so it's like a

(31:32):
safe space, safe space. And so I think now I
think he's gotten what appears to me that he's gotten
to this point of the career where he's not worried
about the gotcha moments and so he's enjoying them. And
it is awesome to watch him and the excitement he brings.
It's like a kid again, seeing the Hard Knocks episodes,

(31:54):
seeing him, you know, in the off season and everything,
and watching him run around and seeing that love of
football because you know, as you go along and you're
longer in it, you know the job. It really is
a job, and you still have that love, but it's
not like a kid like love. And now like his
kid like love is like the.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
Same, the relt, the fire, you know.

Speaker 1 (32:16):
And it's a lot of fun.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
And it's been fun to watch him in these joint practices.
He looks sharp. Man, it looks good, which is good.
It's you know, it's really fun, really fun, and.

Speaker 1 (32:28):
I think he's I enjoy his taking, you know, talking
about Zach taking him like that.

Speaker 4 (32:34):
Making a point. Yeah, and that's really cool. It's really
cool because a lot of guys I would say, wouldn't.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
Yeah, dude, whatever, you know what I mean, like not
my issue, and it's really cool he's embraced that. Yeah,
So I'm.

Speaker 1 (32:49):
Excited for it. I know, I lived through the first
time we had a Green Bay quarterback come over here.
I hope this time works out better.

Speaker 2 (32:56):
Yeah, but it should be.

Speaker 1 (32:58):
It should be a lot of fun. And as like
you said, great first episode.

Speaker 2 (33:02):
Great first episode in the can.
