Speaker 1 (00:00):
Wow, everybody, It's Monday, September twenty second, twenty twenty five.
Welcome to the NFL Fantasy Football Podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
But we're regretting a lot of our draft picks.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
It's me and your man, MG Marcus Grand joined by
Michael Florio and Laqwan Jones. We three, Uh, okay, let's
just I just want you to get it.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
I know you, I know you.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
No, No, it's fine, you get it out. You get
it out.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
What I'm looking to say yet?
Speaker 1 (00:32):
No, no, no, here's it. The Rams are still a
very good team. They lost to a very good team.
I get that. It's painful how it happened. No, you
know that that the Los Angeles Lambs coughed up in
nineteen point lead in the second half. Hey, yo, wow,
I'm sorry, just just I'm sorry. Just it just rolls
off the tongue. I can't help it. It's just the
(00:53):
thing that that rolls off. I've never heard that before.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
That is not the worst thing I've heard in the
last twelve hours. I would say that I've had family
members that I haven't spoken to since I was fourteen,
gang in my DM that like cousins.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
I'm like, damn y'all don't love me no more, Like
that's that's how much dirt you're gonna put in my
face after this loss, Like it's insane. But it's all right,
that's right. I'm gonna let this lost kind of settle.
But objectively, like the Rams are a good team. They
lost to a good team.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
So like saying that I don't think the Eagles are
a good team. That's the side I'm taking right now.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
They had thirty three total yards at they have they
are trash exposed team.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
Yes, they are undefeated and the super Bowl champs. I mean,
and they were in the Super Bowl like two years
before that.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
And right, let's take away push they're a bland team.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
They are in the No, I do want to shout
out the Rams because you guys got a lead, a
two score lead, and force them to start throwing. Yes,
and hopefully they realize that, hey, maybe we should get
a J Brown and Devata Smith the ball more.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
So, I mean, for from fantasy managers everywhere, we do
want to thank the Rams for reminding the Eagles that
they have like good pass catchers on their teams.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
We made Batman angry. That's all.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
That's all that I know if you saw the quote
from him afterwards, I think something's the effect of I
don't want this to sound negative, and I was like,
why did you Why are you able.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
To come back in second half? And he's like, we don't.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
I don't want to sound negative, but they got me
the ball. It's as simple as that.
Speaker 4 (02:24):
It's one hundred true because it wasn't even like, you know,
like he was just oh, ten yards like he would
catch the ball, break like eight tackles, running like yeah Williams, Yeah, man.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
I pointed out last week with Darius Williams, so A J.
Brown got his bounce back, I hate one him right,
and it's against my team.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
So anyway, I really was with you until you were
like the Eagles aren't the good team.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
And now I'm like, you're just being unserious at this point.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
Because because usually we don't hear from Lakwan, last night
he was texting us late like I was like, this
dude is not sleeping after that game.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
There's also there was a love that was silence during
the day.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
There was hours where we did not there was.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
A silence during the day in the text shot because Lakwan,
I'm sure was just like you know, licking his wounds
and hearing from long lost family members apparently who showed up.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
Damy don't love me nowhere, that's crazy.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
Half half the Jones family was happy though, because the
Chargers won.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
That's true. That's true. So your your son had a
good day. Your son had a good day.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
He was just so shocked as me. But we'll talk
about that off camera.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Man.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Wow, uh yeah, we we got all have to talk
about though. Here you show today, we're gonna go through
some of the big questions of week three. We will
check in with some notable rookies, some were up, some
were down, and kind of get the pulse of how
we're feeling about that. Plus waiver wire as always, and
guys that we're at least temporarily done with. They're going
(03:53):
on the bench, maybe in some extreme cases going on
the waiver wire though I don't think so. But just
guys that that we cannot trust for the foreseeable future.
But I want to start with some news because there
was a lot of news that came out of Sunday,
a lot of injury news that came out of Sunday.
One of the Biglins, James Connor, was carted off with
what at the time looked like a knee injury. I
(04:14):
think it's being called an ankle injury. Last reports are
he is going to have ankle surgery. They're saying out indefinitely.
I don't know. I'm sure you guys both saw it
the way it looked bad. It looks bad. I would
be very surprised if we see James Connor again in
the twenty twenty five season. Who knows, but certainly best
wishes to him in whatever recovery he's gonna have to
(04:36):
endure for the next several months. And you know, he
was running the ball well again against the forty nine
ers before the injury happened.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
I knew it was bad. I mean just seeing it
knew you knew it was bad.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
But when both teams like in full come out onto
the field and surround the cart to wap you up,
that's when you know it's really bad.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
I did. The network was like, we're not going to
show it, it's so bad, and then like a minute
later I saw it like eight replays, like yeah, I
didn't need to see that.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
So obviously, Trey Benson is next man up, a guy
who was getting work anyway, even with a healthy James Connor,
but now he slides into that RB one role. So
what two questions for you here, FLORYA One, what is
the ceiling for Trey Benson for the rest of the season,
because I'm at this point he's sort of working on
the assumption we're not gonna see Connor for a while.
And second part, is it worth going to pick up
(05:29):
Imari de Mercado.
Speaker 4 (05:31):
I think Trey Benson, if he's out there in leagues
and he isn't some he is the biggest pickup of
the year so far. I think I would argue we
have already seen Benson playing a lot of passing downs
like that. I was actually worried before James Connor got
hurt because I was like, man, the thing that always
propped up Connor was the volume. Like he had the
(05:53):
passing downs on lock. He would get all the carries.
He was still getting all of the carries, but the
passing downs were going to trade and the two minute drills,
that third down stuff like that. So I think Benson
could be an RB two moving forward, Like there'll be
some weeks where he finishes as an RB one. There'll
be some weeks where he finishes as an RB three,
but I think when all is said and done, he
(06:14):
will be in RB two. And I like him this week,
like I have him as a start in start sit,
which I like I'm writing already because they get the
Seahawks on Thursday night. It's a short week, and the
Seahawks have allowed the most receiving production two running backs
so far this year. As for de Bercado, we saw
him get two carries yesterday and one target. I think
(06:36):
he as of right now is a deep league guy.
Right Like in our fourteen team Kings Classic League, he
should be picked up. But in a regular twelve team league,
I don't think he is a must add or anything
like that. More of a handcuff in case something happens
to Benson or if we see his role grow. But
he's not someone that I'm like super bullish, like I
(06:57):
need to get on all my teams this week.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
It's more like a yet at all. Right, Yeah, that
that sounds about right. Remember yet that that was a
couple of years ago. Had that run for a few
weeks where he was kind of a thing.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
Yeah, gave me a lot of content on flex to
forget about.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
It's very it's kind of an Italian sounding name, right,
I'm already de.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
Mercado, like the whole thing. Yeah, yeah, you know, I.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
Forget about not as much, but as you got off
Tommy DeVito though.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
No, no, he's look, he's getting progressive commercial commercial.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
Oh wow, I did not know that he's got an
insurance commercial now, so good for Tommy d Wow. All right,
so yeah, best wishes though to James Connor. Obviously changes
a lot of things in that Arizona offense, so going forward. Meanwhile,
in Los Angeles, Najee Harris left the game against the
Broncos with a non contact injury. I think everybody who
(07:52):
saw it immediately said that looks like an achilles.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
That looks like a season ender.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
And again another frustrating one because he was running the
ball well between the tackles against the Broncos when that happened.
Omari and Hampton to that point had kind of been struggling.
He picked it up in what was a really fun
game to watch. I'm so obviously, Lookwan Hampton is not
going to be available on the waiver wire, no in
(08:18):
any leagues worth their salt. The question now becomes with
no Nase Harris can you bump Omari and Hampton into
the ranks of RB ones going forward?
Speaker 3 (08:31):
I would say like a low win RB one And
I say this because just looking at the Charges offense
right now, they're bringing in a new identity. You see.
The passing game is thriving, they're undefeated. That's where they're
benefiting from from Justin Herbert playing so well right now,
the run game has actually been kind of made like
bottom of the table. They're getting three and a half
yards per carry. They're under one hundred yards per game
(08:52):
right now. That's my biggest fears of like when they
go against some of these tough opponents, like they're not
going to be like the games that we saw yesterday,
like he was able to get loose. Now looking ahead
to this week against the Giants, yeah, he's going to
have that RB one ceiling again. We're gonna get a
taste to see if he can handle this fifteen to
twenty touches per game and they ramp up progressively. I
just think that Greg Roman, his comments are still just
(09:14):
floating in my head. Man saying it's going to be
a two man system, doesn't matter. It's going to be
a two man system. We want two running backs back.
They're running the ball. But then it's like you watch
a Marion Hampton do what he did yesterday, How can
you stop this train? This may help the running game
just feeding him the ball. So I got him as
a low win RB one for rest of the season,
but this week it's going to be wheels up for
(09:34):
him against the Giants.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Absolutely wheels up against the Giants.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
He looked like he was getting more comfortable, more confident
as he was getting more touches, especially in that second half,
because early on he just looked sort of tentative, especially
when they asked him the rumbys way the tackles. He
looked more comfortable trying to get to the outside, although
you know, the Broncos have the speed on the edge
to sort of keep you from turning the corner consistently,
so that was kind of a problem.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
It also helps with him getting sprinkled with targets. Man,
he had seven targets six catches. That's like Austin Ecker
like production. So if we can keep that going, then
he could be a solid RB one.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
Yeah, I noticed that he was getting a lot of targets,
but I was also noticing sort of how the targets
were coming, like, he's not when it was Austin Eckler
back there, right, he was a guy that was running
like actual routes, and he seemed to be an option.
He's like an actual you know, part of the progression,
right for for Justin Herbert, with al Mari and Hampton,
it's more like we're just gonna have you kind of
sprint out to the side and if nothing is opened downfield,
(10:31):
then we'll get targets, which, look, they still count the same,
but they're also a little bit harder to come by,
you know, when you're not when you were just the
emergency outlet sort of thing. But it worked yesterday. You know,
if it works in the future, great, It just it
feels like a hard any interesting Hassan Haskins, Ok.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
No, we're still commining Bedell's man. We still want Commanee
to go out there and ball out. I just hope
he gets an actual shot man, like a consistent amount
of weeks where he's gonna be able to get ball
But that's probably a dream that doesn't reality.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
I was on that train last year and the charger
was good. The charger shut that down.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
Well.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
JK Dobbins shut that down last year.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
First catch will always be fun. Yeah, it's like a
five yard touchdown. I lost my mind.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
Yeah, it looked like the vandalascence was happening, but apparently not. Uh.
In Dallas, things are bleak for the Cowboys right now.
They got hammered by the Bears, and then to make
matters worse, Ceedee Lamb dealing with what's being called a.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
High ankle sprain.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
He went out there, rolled it pretty badly, sat out,
tried to come back, ran one more route, and had
to tap out for the remainder of the day, which
means it's been a tough start for Cede Lamb. Managers
right because he had a couple of big drops in
week one, did have a decent game in week two,
but now gave you a zero. In week three, George
Pickens sort of picked up the slack. I'm gonna ask
(11:58):
this Floya because it could be little, but can George
Pickens be a wide receiver one in fantasy some weeks?
Speaker 4 (12:06):
George Pickens is an enigma and I'm done trying to
figure him out, right, Like I there's no rhyme or
reason it's going His usage and how they use him
is still very similar to how it was in Pittsburgh, right,
Like he's getting a lot of downfield targets. He gets
a lot of usage in the red and end zone,
which is clearly valuable for fantasy, but it's high variance
(12:29):
targets that he is getting. Like when I have a
league where I have like a Dack and Pickens stack
yesterday and I'm in a really close matchup Ceed goes
down and I'm like, this is awesome, Like it sucks that,
but it's good for my stack, And I know that
came out the wrong way, and I apologize.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
This was freaking awesome.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
It's good for the stack. You would think it wasn't
because it was all going to Jake Ferguson and Ceedee
Lamb was still burg Pickens was still being used kind
of the same way. So I think he'll have some
weeks where he is a wide receiver one. I think
he'll have other weeks like this where he's like a
good wide receiver two. And I wouldn't be surprised if
there's a couple of down games mixed in there as well.
(13:11):
But once like CD's not out for the year or anything,
he'll he'll probably miss a couple of weeks, but once
he's back, then I think Pickens goes back to what
he's already been, which is a high upside but high
variance type of wide receiver.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
What I saw yesterday from George Pickens is sort of
what I projected for him when he moved to Dallas,
right that the volume of targets is probably gonna go
down from what he had in Pittsburgh, but the quality
of targets goes up. So I kind of figured it
was gonna be a wash, and that what we got
from George Pickens as the wide receiver two in Dallas
(13:47):
was gonna be a lot like what we got from
George Pickens as the wide receiver one playing with like
Kitty Pickett in Pittsburgh.
Speaker 2 (13:56):
Through three games, That's kind of what it's been.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
To your point, Jake Ferguson looks like he, at least
for the short term, has a lot more value because
Dak was going, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
That was my must draft this summer.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
Folks saying you don't know, C Lamb's gonna get hurt, No,
Jake Ferguson still was relevant with CD Lamb or not.
I just think that Jake Ferguson is that third trio
of that offense, and Dak obviously loves targeting him as
we saw yesterday. So I think they need to pull
those targets down though, because they don't need to be
pulling full time on Jake Ferguson because it does have
an injury history. Well, I mean for the short term,
(14:33):
they're gonna have to lean on him him and pickens
until until Lamb gets back, whatever that may be.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
We'll we'll certainly find out more, uh in the days
to come.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
In Tampa, Mike Evans suffered a hamstring injury which forced
him out.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Of the ball game.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
They were already dealing with the Mecca Abuka, who was
less than one hundred percent but did go out there
and play. Yeah, we know Jen McMillan's out. Know Chris Godwin.
Yesterday somehow the Bucks pulled it out at the end
against the Jets.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
Lawan.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
They are saying that there's a very strong chance Chris
Godwin could be back next week, which actually I think
I had a schedule originally. They are saying week five
or six, so could be back in week four. Granted
he's coming off an injury. He hasn't played in training
camp for the preseason. But if the Bucks are short handed,
if there's no Mike Evans, is Chris Godwin, they must
start for the Bucks next week.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
Listen, if I roster him and I had him on
my ir spot, he's coming off. Because if I have
the likes of a Marvin Harrison junior, Jamar Chase, a
Ceedee Land dud yesterday and I'm sitting here performing star
players and I'm sitting here looking at Chris Goden, I
have no choice at this point, Like I have nothing
to lose if Marvin Harrison or Brian Thomas Jr. Goes
(15:42):
off of my bench next week because I played Chris Godwin.
For whatever I get out of him, it's the Eagles.
Speaker 4 (15:48):
Whatever.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
The Eagles defense, they are a joke, man, Like, don't
get me back in this bag, bro, We expose those
frauds that we can go out there and do our
damn thing.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
But anyway, back on subject, with Chris Godwin possibly playing
next week, this is great news, honestly, man.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
That means his rehab has gone great. He's ready to
go out there and play and contribute. And I think
that Meccha Buka bang Dub, Mike Evans, Bang Dub, Jalen
and Mellon, but Bang Dub they need some reliable wide
receivers out there. I'm not really putting any stock into
Sterling Shepherd this week and waiver wire like, I'm not
too sure how that's gonna look. So I do think
that if he's available to play, I'm playing him. I
(16:26):
have nothing to lose right now. If I have any
of these star players that we spent high draft picks
on doing completely nothing.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
Yeah, I wouldn't.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
I wouldn't spend fab or a waiver priority claim on
on Sterling Shepherd.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
Shepherd's the guy that you know.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
It's it's Sunday morning and I'm still trying to find
somebody to fill a flex spot. Hey, maybe we give
Sterling Shepherd some run even then.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
I mean I think in the short term.
Speaker 3 (16:50):
Well, if you got a mecha, yeah, you're playing him.
He is the UI receiver one. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (16:55):
Yeah. I'm just much more concerned with Godwin, I think
than you guys are.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
Bro teams are down bad. That are one and two
right now where I'm like, look, Terry mclauren, ain't cutting it.
Brian Thomas, damn you ain't cutting it. If you look
at that schedule coming up. So it's one of those
things like I have nothing to lose right now.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
Especially there's definitely a conversation that we had about some
wide receivers who are underperforming. I mean, you mentioned Brian
Thomas junior, you mentioned Marvin Harrison. That's a conversation that
at the point we really got to have a Marvin
Harrison junior. I have him as a sit this week
just I mean, just flubbed what should have been a touchdown,
(17:33):
a whiw touchdown.
Speaker 4 (17:36):
That throw was about ten yards underthrown as well, Like
if Kyler hits him in stride, that's an eighty yard touchdown.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
Or bounce down. Also bounced off the eighteen on his chest.
Speaker 4 (17:47):
It's also on him, but it's Kyler is a huge
part of what's holding him back as well.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
I mean, I can get you a bier, not his
job to get him.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
Drew Petting the offensive coordinator. That's it's all that.
Speaker 4 (18:01):
I think Marvin was a little over hyped. I think
Kyler isn't what we wanted him to be and the
offense isn't either.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
All things can be true, Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
Since we're talking about quarterbacks, JJ McCarthy. We know went
down with an ankle injury last week. We saw Carson
Wentz come in yesterday and play as they hammered the Bengals. Uh,
you know, Wentz did his job. I don't think that
he was the reason that the Vikings did what they did,
which is where all.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
The Vikings need him to be. There are reports he
could be out.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
They could hold him out until after the bye, which
means he would not be back until week seven.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
I'm floy is is there a world?
Speaker 1 (18:42):
Is there a strand of the multiverse where Carson Wentz
could actually be better for this offense for a Justin Jefferson,
a T. J. Hawkinson and throwing the fact Jordan Natison
his back off suspension in week four? Is there a
ward where Carson Wentz could be a better option fantasy
wise for our guy?
Speaker 2 (19:00):
Then JJ McCarthy has.
Speaker 4 (19:02):
Been There's a world for sure. I think the upside
is still higher with JJ. I would say that right
now the floor is safer with Wentz. We we have
seen this before where rookie quarterbacks come in and they
take a bit. It happens at all positions a right.
It's why like all week I was like breathe on
Omarion Hampton, breathe on Ashton gen like all these rookies are.
(19:25):
They're two games into their career, Like we've seen there
be growing pains early on. So I think it's very
possible that we could have a safer and a sturdier
offense with Carson Wentz. But I don't think we learned
a single thing about this offense yesterday. They scored on
their opening drive where Wentz had to throw it's, you know,
the scripted opening drive, Like Wentz had to throw three
(19:47):
times on that there was penalties and Jordan Mason going
ham and then he didn't throw another touchdown until they
were up like four scores because they had two pick sixes.
Jordan Mason had two rushing touchdowns. So like it was
against one of the worst defenses in the league. There,
their defense flipped, Like by the time Carson Wentz came
(20:08):
back on the field, it was over because they had
they had two pick sixes, you know. So like I
think I was shocked to see like t J. Hawkinson
did what he did and and I was like, yep,
it's when in garbage time when I'm facing him in
a couple of different leagues, But uh, I don't think.
I think again, it's possible, but we just yesterday didn't
really teach us anything about this offense.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
I mean, i'd agree with that it did teach us,
I guess, you know.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
For why to take one thing, Jordan Mason looks like
he's ready for the RB.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
One role there in Minnesota, so.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
You know, shout outs were shout out to lakwand because
you were, you were definitely ahead of the curve on
that one for sure, because he looked he looked fantastic. Granted, yes,
the Bengals stink, but nonetheless Mason looked great. He looked great,
So not gonna take that away from him. On the
flip side, kind of a rough day, not just for
the Bengals offense, but for Jamar Chase specifically.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
Have some questions about him.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
We're gonna take a break, come back with some of
the big questions that we have coming out of Week
three and how we feel about them going forward. Sticking
around for that more on the NFL Fantasy Football Podcast.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
Talking about some of our big questions from Week three.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
We finished the last segment talking about the Vikings and
the Bengals and how Cincinnati was fully dismantled by that
Minnesota defense, and that the Viking offense was good against
a bad defensive team. One thing we did not talk about, though,
the Bengals offense, and that it just couldn't do anything.
Jake Browning nineteen of twenty seven hundred and forty yards,
(21:37):
one touchdown, two picks. Jamar Chase though six targets, just
man five catches on those six targets, fifty yards, no touchdowns.
Having seen this and knowing Lakwan that Browning is going
to be the quarterback for the foreseeable future, maybe for
the rest of the season, worry should we be about
(21:58):
Jamar Chase, who a lot of people took at the one.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
Strapping. It's gonna be a bad nightmare ride having Jamar
Chase and T Higgins and I said this last week
when we're talking about Jake Browning, interceptions is in his
utility bell It's like a power he pulls out out
of nowhere. It's a bad power, and it's like, dude,
you don't need to throw interceptions.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
Going into this game. He already threw two interceptions the
week prior.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
He has five interceptions in two weeks like this, is disgusting,
Like you have to look at this as look, they
can't run the ball, the defense is bad. He keeps
turning the ball over. That's less opportunities than scoring opportunities
for Jamar Chase Anti Higgins. So I look at this
as it sucks because it's only week four that we're
dealing with this. If this injury happened week ten or whatever,
(22:42):
it's like cool. I collected my ten weeks of racked
up points of Jamar Chase being the wide receiver one.
But right now we got to make some business decisions.
I feel like I can go out there and say
I can trade Jamar Chase right now and get a haul.
So that one believer thinks that they're gonna trade for
Kirk Cousins or Joe Burrow is gonna come back early
from this turf toe, let them have that painted in
(23:04):
their head. I want to get off this train right
now because if you look at the next three weeks,
you got Denver Lions in Green Bay. These are all
teams that are going to take the ball away. These
are tough defenses that are going to be bringing that pressure.
And I can't see Jake Browning making it to December
at this quarterback this year, and there's no way they
got to start working some guys out. They got to
do something because this is going to be a horrible offense.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
Moving forward, as you were talking and talking about the
quarterback situation, I had an idea pop in my head.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
What if they trade for Jamis?
Speaker 4 (23:35):
That would be fun.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
I mean, Jamis just throwing yolo balls to Jamar Chase.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
That could work right, Sign him up.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
I know the Giants way.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
The Giants have said that they aren't interested that Jamis
is there, but it's like the whole conversation in New
York is it's been Russell Wilson or Jackson dart Right
and Jamis is basically just a cheerleader on the sideline.
Why not why not call up the Giants see what
what they'd be willing to take in order to part
with Jameis Winston.
Speaker 2 (24:07):
You know you're not gonna win the division. Nobody's gonna
win the the AFC.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
I take back what I said trading Jamar Chase, by
the way, I take that that count right now. We
get Winston, oh my god, And I say we as
a Jamar Chase like, I definitely want Winston in a building.
Speaker 4 (24:23):
I do want to play Devil's advocate just a bit,
Like if yesterday was the worst, it was still five
for fifty, which is ten PPR points. Like we saw
him have a huge game last week. With Browning, I
think he's gonna be very up or down, which we
don't like. But I still do think there's gonna be
some big Jamar Chase.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
Teams, Like Browning's had his highs in his starts in
twenty three, like he was able to get t Higgins
three touchdowns.
Speaker 4 (24:45):
I'm much more worried about Higgins than Chase.
Speaker 3 (24:48):
And yeah, but the thing is, it's like he could
beat up on bad defenses, like he doesn't have bad
defenses on the play for the next couple of weeks,
Like it's gonna be tough. So I'm benching Jamar Chase
if I have better options, obviously, do.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
You Is that a thing is better than Chase? What
do you mean?
Speaker 3 (25:08):
I think?
Speaker 2 (25:08):
So?
Speaker 3 (25:09):
I mean, if I'm gonna be buying into the high
of like an elk A manner right now, who's on
the ride, You're.
Speaker 4 (25:13):
Gonna play him over.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
Against Denver and Green Bay.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
Yeah, I'll play Jamar Chase against Detroit but I'm not
playing him against Green Bay or something.
Speaker 4 (25:24):
You say Denver. Denver has been had by wide receivers
this year. Like the Chargers wide receivers put up pretty
good numbers against them this week.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
Man, that is the spiciest of the spicy.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
That's Herbert throwing the ball. Like we're talking about Jake
browning and and and it's one of the things that
we keep thinking, he's there.
Speaker 4 (25:46):
Daniel Jones part of this.
Speaker 3 (25:48):
Daniel Jones, Indiana Jones. Put some respect on his name.
He is out here balling.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
Come on, I will say what works, what could work
in Jamar's favor, And even t Higgins to a point
is just fall because they're going to throw the ball
a lot, and especially missing that game against the Lions,
like the Lions are going to run it up like
the Lions.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
The Lions could.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
Put half a hundred on this Bengals defense, which means
Jake Brown's gonna throw the ball forty five times that week.
Speaker 4 (26:13):
That's what worries me about Higgins is like Chase, Like,
I mean, last week Chase had sixteen targets and this week,
I know five doesn't sound like much, but I believe
it was the it was a second No. Six. I'm
sorry led the team like Higgins.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
That task disgusting for a one on one pick, like
I don't want the no.
Speaker 4 (26:30):
It's not ideal, obviously, but but the subject that's changed.
We're not saying we're gonna get Jamar Chase one dot
one value anymore. But now I still think so much
talent there where I'm playing him over over my bench options,
Like there's not a world where I'm playing Elec Ioman.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
I'm not playing I love like io man I'm not
playing too much. I'm all in three and this is
a bad look ahead for the next three weeks.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
You best believe ile Io Manor will be an option
in my head.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
That's waving a white flag you have. If you're all
in three, what do you have to lose?
Speaker 1 (27:03):
Like you're gonna keep putting these star names in when
you're guys lobby.
Speaker 4 (27:10):
Cam Ward hasn't thrown for two hundred and twenty yards
in a game and one touchdown.
Speaker 3 (27:14):
Is his high and elk I Manor seems to be
his go to now, So I am ready to transition
from Calvin Ridley and my starter as a wide receiver too,
or what is el Io.
Speaker 4 (27:24):
Maner's best game so far this season.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
It's like against the Rams, Yeah, that's better than what
we're about to get with Jamar.
Speaker 4 (27:31):
We just got ten out of Chase and that's what's
making you panic.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
Yes, these next three weeks.
Speaker 3 (27:37):
Absolutely, you're terrible.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
What you're saying is that Jamar Chase's floor is right
scary off, but it's not too far off from Io
Manor's ceiling.
Speaker 2 (27:46):
Like, what are we doing?
Speaker 4 (27:48):
And in Week two, Jamar Chase was the wide receiver
two with Jake Browning coming in in the mid second quarter.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
But I didn't just like, already, dude, I just remember
your pressure points.
Speaker 2 (27:59):
Man, Wusa, I get it.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
It's it's not great.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
I get it.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
We're not going down, We're not We're not going the
Iron Manor road yet.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
Can we remove Iron Manor from the equation?
Speaker 1 (28:11):
Any other bench right now that is putting up points
in your flex and we're thinking about them? Would you
take would you take Chris Olive out of the satchel
of discontent and put him in a head.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
That sounds crazy, that sounds crazy, but you're gonna start.
Speaker 4 (28:27):
I'm just saying no. Roy Franklin, the Big Waiver Wire
names so far this year receiver I'm playing like I
wouldn't I wouldn't put Tray Tucker.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
No, like I wouldn't put the literally busts or boom guys.
But if there's other serviceable options on my bench.
Speaker 4 (28:41):
About like I'm going Chase over Wandell over Mooney over
over names of receivers that I have on my benches, Like.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
It's it's just one of the things that we have
to circle back for. There's other flex options out there
that have been consistent on a three week basis to
give you safe floors. That's obviously one of they that I'm.
Speaker 4 (29:01):
Ten points not a safe floor.
Speaker 3 (29:03):
Bro Come on, man, from Jamar Chase, what is the
rest of your wide receiver roster?
Speaker 2 (29:08):
Looking?
Speaker 4 (29:08):
Here's the thing to your ten point absolute ten points
from Jamar Chase is disappointing. I'm not I have chased
in a number of leagues. I'm not so context you're.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
Zero and three. You're gonna ride until the ship is
alway at the bottom where.
Speaker 4 (29:20):
You is disappointing from Chase. But the names you're naming,
like twelve is a good game from.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
Like, yeah, dude, Like the situation is, the situation has
changed now from when you drafted him, so you have
to sort of adjust to that. But still the ceiling
for Jamar Chase is higher than you know, ninety receivers
in this league.
Speaker 2 (29:42):
I didn't think we'd spend this long on this. I didn't.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
I just didn't realize that this is.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
A whole nother pod.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
Save it for lunch, save it for the lunch, Let's
keep this moving.
Speaker 1 (29:51):
That's why we're really gonna spend forty five minutes on
this whole thing. Floyal Ashton gent so far. You talk
about guys who've been disappointing. I had about making him
a first round pick, like I just wasn't gonna be
able to do it. I thought second round was gonna
be a little better. Even that has sort of underperformed.
Last week, Pete Carroll talked about how they wanted to
get him the ball more, get him more touches, more carries.
(30:13):
Didn't really happen this week against Washington. Maybe this is
I'm just saying this is crazy, But I didn't just
to say start like Io Manner over Jamar Chase, So
maybe this is crazy. Is Ashton Jerry go? Is Ashton genty?
Even an RB two going forward.
Speaker 4 (30:28):
Yes. In fact, I think he is a good by
Low candidate. If you look at Ashton Genty and it
was a ESPN Beat reporter Darren mcfatten tweeted this out yesterday.
Fifty seven percent of his carries he's been hit at
or behind the line of scrimmage. The O line has
been atrocious, and I don't think it's going to get better.
But what I think is happening is Ashton Genty is
(30:49):
getting more comfortable in the NFL, and we're gonna start
seeing Boise State type plays from Ashton gent Yesterday, not
only did he have a career a career highest season
high and rushing yards, he hit his first two runs
of over fifteen plus yards. And watching him, just like
you guys were saying with Omarion Hampton, I think the game,
he's starting to adjust to it a little bit. It
(31:10):
slows down a little bit, stuff like that. So next
week he gets the Bears, who have allowed the most
rushing yards to running backs. They really allow a lot
of explosive runs. It's like almost six yards per carry
they're allowing. So peep behind the curtain. I have gent
as a start, I have Hampton. I think week four
is going to be the week. And I'll say it
(31:30):
here first that we look back at this season and
like that is when the rookie class arrived. I think
they're all, like most of the rookies that we were
excited about in fantasy are going to have big games
in Week four, and I think Genty is very much
so one of them and someone that if you could
buy low on right now, I think it's worth the shot.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
I think there are some of the rookies like I think.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
Obviously Amari and Hampton with no Nase Harris is sort
of ready to take off. I do think this is
a Travion Henderson week because everybody else is mister fumble
Thumb's in that backfield right now, you know, so, I
think he Judkins is mother one. But for Jens, you
(32:14):
mentioned the offensive line is still bad. That's not gonna
change all year long. I laughed, and you said, he
looks like he's getting more comfortable, Like you're like, he
gets hitting the backfield a ton. He looks like he's
get more comfortable, like he's getting comfortable getting hands off
the ball.
Speaker 4 (32:26):
He's not awesome, but he's he's still breaking tackles at
such a high rate.
Speaker 1 (32:31):
That does help the other The thing that worries me though,
is one the offensive line is bad too.
Speaker 2 (32:35):
He is zero part.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
Of the passing game that needs that they don't ideally
should change. They don't consider him at all. I think
he's got what. He's got six targets. He'd had no
targets yesterday. He has a grand total of three receiving yards.
Speaker 2 (32:51):
That's got it.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
That's got to get better, for sure. But he's another
one that you invested highly in him. I don't know
that you can pull the plug right now unless somehow,
you you know, backed into another mid round running back
who is you know, if you know you ran into
Javonte Williams and you've got him. It's kind of hard
to get away from from Ashton Gentz. Are the Jags
receivers even startable at this point? They won yesterday.
Speaker 4 (33:14):
That's the problem.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
It's the mass that is being worn right now. Like
it's the mass where it's like happy in the front
and they're crying behind like that locker room is toxic. Man,
you cannot trust this team.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
And honestly, the Imi Brown getting hurt is probably the
worst thing to happen for that wide receiver room because
he's the only guy that has the touchdown. He's the
only guy that has been hit reliable to have a
catch percentage over sixty five percent. So it's like guys
that are the reliable targets are now falling off. Now
we're gonna have to deal with Parker Washington. I don't
want to get in this carousel of trying to figure
(33:46):
out which week it's going to be the week for
Brian Thomas Junior. He does not look happy. It looks
like it's toxic in that locker room.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
I am just looking at more of what's happening in
the locker room and the presentation we're getting on the field.
Trevor mid Lawrence is not going to elevate Brian Thomas
Junior to be back to that return of what Mac
Jones had him at that nineteen fantasy points per game.
We get the Mid.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
Bowl this wild sentence, by the way, We.
Speaker 3 (34:09):
Get the Mid Bowl this week where Mac Jones will
be like, Yo, I'm gonna show you how to do this, son,
Like I can go over there on that other side,
I put your jersey on to get him activated. Like
there should be some type of swap here because if
mac Jones outperforms Trevor mid laarins this week, I am
breaking the board in half. He is not even on
the scaling. So that is what it's gonna be next week.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
I will I will say that you might not have
the opportunity because it looks like brock Perty is trending
back to play, so he may be back.
Speaker 2 (34:38):
Next week against the Jaguars.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
Plus, Uh, mac Jones actually tweaked.
Speaker 2 (34:43):
His knee during that game. Late in that game, yet
he had his jersey rip.
Speaker 3 (34:47):
My man was going to war.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
He was a show watching him try to like, you know,
hand the ball off to McCaffrey. Had a couple of
those stretch plays. Was painful, like he's like hobbling and
just like basically diving.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
To get the ball.
Speaker 4 (34:59):
Please hit me how to here?
Speaker 1 (35:00):
It was rough yesterday, So I don't I don't know
that we're gonna see the mac Jones revenge game.
Speaker 2 (35:05):
I hope we do, though, but we'll see. We'll see
how that goes.
Speaker 1 (35:11):
Floy, you mentioned the Bears and they had a great
day offensively against a bad Cowboys defense. Uh. Dj Moore
had a late touchdown which made his day look serviceable.
But if you watch that game, he really was nowhere
to be found. They gave actually a couple of handoffs,
just I think to try to get the ball in
his hand at some point.
Speaker 2 (35:32):
How worried argue about DJ Moore.
Speaker 4 (35:34):
At this point as worried as you could possibly be.
And I and I unfortunately have DJ Moore on quite
a few teams because all summer he was falling and
I just kept being like, well, I'll take him at
this cost. And last week I spent far too much
time trying to trade him and I didn't have a
ton of success. I'm going to try again this week
(35:57):
because I don't I think if you look at the
box or you're gonna see, oh yeah, he caught a touchdown.
He was the second targeted player on that team. But
like you said, Marcus, if you watch the game, the
usage is extremely concerning. He had five targets. I think
two of them came out of the backfield, and like
you said, he's getting carries there in the red zone. Downfield,
(36:20):
everything is Roman doonsday like he is the one there
and that's fine. You could sustain too, like we've seen
Ben Johnson sustain two wide receivers before the issue is
all of the fun, creative stuff that Ben Johnson and
the Bears are doing is going to Luther Burden, not
DJ Moore. So like, it is a concerning thing for sure,
(36:43):
And I think this week is a great time to
try to sell DJ Moore because of that touchdown. Caleb's
coming off his best game as a pro, and all
of this came in. What is the best matchup for
wide receivers? Because that Cowboys defense, We're gonna pick on
it all year. So like, if this is what you're
doing against the Cowboys, how's it gonna look when you
face actual tough defenses.
Speaker 1 (37:04):
Yeah, I'll say this, The schedule isn't terrible for the
Bears going forward. I mean they're in Vegas next week
to take on the Raiders. That's not super difficult. They're
at Washington, which is, you know, slightly more difficult. They
got the Saints right after that. Again, another really good matchup.
Speaker 4 (37:21):
Is that Washington game an Island game? Please?
Speaker 2 (37:24):
It is a Monday night game?
Speaker 4 (37:25):
Yes? Yeah, that so much fun.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
So Jayden Dangles is back then, so we get Caleb
the Jayden.
Speaker 4 (37:33):
Partner two last year.
Speaker 1 (37:36):
So so yeah, that's right, Hail Mary running back. So
We'll get that in an Island game in Week six
for sure, so we'll see. But yeah, DJ Moore has
just been been m i a the first weeks of
the season for the Bears. Let's get to our rookie
report checking in on some of the first year guys,
and the first one on those Quinn Shawn Jenkins. We
(37:57):
were told he was going to be the starter and
took advantage of it in the surprise win over the
Green Bay Packers. Ninety four rushing yards or rushing touchdown,
one catch for.
Speaker 2 (38:07):
One yard whatever.
Speaker 1 (38:08):
I guess it counts for one point one points in
your PPR formats for you.
Speaker 2 (38:12):
Is he an RB two going forward?
Speaker 4 (38:14):
Yes? Yeah, I mean one. He's made all like Dylan
Samson is droppable. Jerome Ford. Yeah, he's getting the passing
downs right now, but he's not like it's all Quid
Shawn Judkins. And my hope is that he continues to
take over more of the passing game because that is
where you miss being there all summer. Like it's a
little bit easier for a running back because it's like
(38:35):
run this way, run that way, stuff like that, but
in the passing game, you need to know where to
be and where to block and stuff like that. So
my hope is as the year goes on that value grows.
But what I think makes this especially valuable is who
he did it against. The Green Bay Packers shut down
the Detroit Lions running game, and then the next week
(38:55):
they shut down the Commander's rushing attack two of the
what top four five rushing attacks in football last season,
So like, yeah, it is very impressive. He gets the
lines next week. I know they're a tough matchup on paper.
I have him as a start this week. I don't care.
So yeah, I think he was the biggest winner value
wise from week three.
Speaker 2 (39:15):
I was very surprised.
Speaker 1 (39:16):
I didn't think that it would be Dylan Samson who
just kind of got punted me. Maybe yeah, maybe we're
just underestimating Jerome Ford. But right now, which here's the thing.
In the end, it's a two man backfield. Dylan Sampson's
not part of it. So again, two man backfield, we
can sort of figure it out. But it does look
like Judkins is the RB one there for sure.
Speaker 2 (39:38):
Speaking of RB.
Speaker 1 (39:39):
Ones, Cam Scataboom, you know this is a scatabooly podcast.
Scoata Boom is kind of what we saw last night
against the Chiefs. Ten carries for sixty yards and a touchdown.
Eight targets, that was a team high for six catches
and sixty one yards. There we go, get the Skataboo
T shirt out Now for Floria. I was gonna, I
(40:00):
mean the question I had written in here, LaQuan. I
think you and you and you and I and Floyo
talked about this before the show. I'm gonna ask you,
can he become the giants new RB one? You think
that's already done? Oh yeah, it was over when he
yoked up Russell Wilson on the sideline like he was
a child, Like, yeah, he got that or he got
that energy like the locker room is behind him.
Speaker 3 (40:19):
So that was already sealed up last week.
Speaker 1 (40:21):
Now he goes and scores a touchdown, does like a
Tyreek hill backflip and does a little shuffle dance.
Speaker 3 (40:27):
I don't know what he was doing. Man, He is
filling himself right now. So he is the RB one
for the Giants. But my issue is for fantasy wise,
I don't know if he can push him up that
high as a RB one stamp, Like he's a guy
that I can fit into my flex and feel comfortable
about knowing that, hey, this is still a very bad
Giants O line, bad team at that overall, So I
(40:49):
do think that we're gonna have to gauge his scoring
opportunities because, look, I understand that he is able to
break the tackles. My man has over one hundred yards
and eighty eight of those yards are after contact, so
he's able to work in extreme conditions. But on a
week to week basis, I don't know if he's gonna
see that same touchdown opportunity. You're hoping that they keep
sprinkling this guy with targets and he just gets upfield.
(41:11):
But he is like a flex option for me at
best right now until I see further.
Speaker 1 (41:15):
Otherwise, the one thing I would sort of worry about,
not worry, but you keep an eye on. The eight
targets was great, but I also feel the kwand like
that was because the Chiefs made it a point. We
are going to take away Malik Neighbors. We are not
letting you get the bottom Elaite Neighbors, and even Wandale Robinson,
We're gonna make it really hard for you to get
(41:36):
the battle Wandale Robinson. So it just seemed like some
of those eight targets, maybe most of those eight targets
were just a function of Russell Wilson just having to
get the ball to somebody.
Speaker 3 (41:47):
That's exactly what it was.
Speaker 4 (41:49):
I hate when teams do what the Giants did last night,
Like the Laek neighbors is a top four wide receiver
walking the planet, and you're just not gonna give him
any chances because the defense is trying to take him. Okay,
you're willingly giving the defense what they are game planning
to do. Like it makes absolutely no sense to me.
Speaker 2 (42:07):
I just think Brian David would have something creator like
just just Russell.
Speaker 4 (42:15):
He was not like Russ needs to go. He's just
literally just move lobbing up moonballs. He's gonna get his
guys killed. They're not even in the vicinity anymore. Like
it's over, it's Jackson Dart time.
Speaker 1 (42:28):
In my opinion, the way they use Jackson Dart is
so weird because like they brought him in one time,
they're like, okay, then but I don't know it's a
designed run or just a scramble, but he like you know,
he goes, he runs, and then they bring Russ back
in then they bring Dart back in and they have
him run the the read option where he hands it
off a couple of times. Then they bring Russ back in,
he runs the read option and then he keeps it
(42:49):
and runs. I'm like, what what is going on here?
Speaker 2 (42:51):
Like, I have no idea what game plans.
Speaker 4 (42:52):
And it also it makes it super predictable because Dart
has yet to throw a pass, so every time he
comes in, you know, it's a run play.
Speaker 1 (43:00):
So far, absolutely it is, so I don't know, But Skataboo,
it was nice to see him sort of explode yesterday.
Speaker 2 (43:06):
We'll see how this goes.
Speaker 1 (43:07):
Also, by the way, Tyrone Tracy dealing with a shoulder injury,
so monitor that exactly obviously have an impact on Skataboo's
snaps and touches in the near future.
Speaker 2 (43:18):
Over to Denver RJ.
Speaker 1 (43:19):
Harvey two carries two yards, three targets, three catches for
fourteen yards. Florio in the words of Charlie Kelly, what
do now?
Speaker 4 (43:29):
What do now? I don't think you could cut him.
I'm not cutting him where I have him, but there
is zero percent chance you could ever start him right, Like,
I think the big lesson here is never draft a
rookie on his Sean Payton team, because we have been
chasing these young players for years here. But I still
think one of two things happens down the road. Either RJ.
(43:51):
Harvey because he's looked good when he's been giving opportunity,
and either that leads to more opportunity, or JK. Dobbins
unfortunately miss his time and that allows r J. Harvey
to get a chance and kind of run with the job.
I think the up like anyone you cut him for,
he becomes the running back on the waiver wire now
with the most upside. So I want that on my team.
(44:14):
But unfortunately, until we see him get usage, you just
simply cannot start him.
Speaker 1 (44:20):
I wish I had seen this story last week when
when it hit Sean Payton vows steady workload for Broncos
running back r J.
Speaker 2 (44:28):
Harvey.
Speaker 4 (44:29):
He's the new Altric Estimate.
Speaker 1 (44:31):
I say, if I had seen that, I probably would
have everybody just to sit that load.
Speaker 4 (44:36):
He's as bad as aldric estimate. But we're getting bro
He's gonna be hyped up each week like Aldric Estimate was,
and then it's just never gonna actually come to fruition.
This is a game where JK. Dobbins had like negative
four yards do most of the first half. Yeah, but
he did kind of get get loose in the second half.
He did, he got loose in the second half and
it made it interesting. Had a really nice touchdown run
(44:58):
ended actually eighty three ushing yards in the ball game too,
is for JK.
Speaker 2 (45:03):
Dobbins. So he is for sure the RB one.
Speaker 1 (45:05):
There everybody else kind of fighting for scraps in that backfield.
Speaker 2 (45:09):
One last one Luthor Burden.
Speaker 1 (45:11):
Three targets, three catches, one hundred one yards and a touchdown.
At first, look what I was gonna, you know, ask
like is he worth you know, a flex spot? But
then I look at you, he ran eight routes. Like
the targets, three catches were good. Eight routes. Obviously you
can't you know, you can't build on that. But I
will ask you, like, in deeper leagues, is it worth
picking up and adding Luthor Burden.
Speaker 3 (45:32):
I think in deeper leagues you can. In like the
twelve man leagues, I'm kind of like, just add him
to the Buster Boom wide receivers avengers, like adding to
the Troy Franklins to Marvin Mems, Like you're never gonna
be able to comfortably place him in your lineup because
it's like eight routes, Like, my dude, Like I thought
you ran more when you look at the box score,
(45:54):
but no, Like these are the games that I think
Ben Johnson's gonna have fun with when he can really
beat on the defense. Say, Cowboys secondary is toast like
they're safety God, just big plays all day, free points.
But looking at consistency with him, I can't trust him
to add him to where I have to drop somebody
(46:15):
who's actually playing way more snaps and running more routes.
So it's one of those things like, hey, deeper leagues
for sure, because it's gonna be one of those weeks
he's gonna pop off because Ben Johnson's having fun.
Speaker 4 (46:26):
You know who I compare him to. He's a he
is Ben Johnson current Ben Johnson's old teams, Isaac Tesla,
Like they're both good. We want them to get the
ball more, but until they do, it's hard to use.
Speaker 1 (46:38):
Yeah, yeah, they're just not they're not playing enough snaps
or getting enough looks consistently. Like, hey man, those Isaac
Tesla one handed catches are great. You want you don't
get any extra points for a one handed catch, but
also you should not consistent for you to really count
on it.
Speaker 2 (46:52):
So we're cool.
Speaker 1 (46:53):
See points, Cool points, man, I should I get cool
points in fantasy Guys who are not getting cool points.
Speaker 2 (47:00):
They're coming up in the next segment.
Speaker 1 (47:01):
Guys that we are probably done with at least for
the foreseeable future until they show us something. We'll get
you that plus some waiver wire picks coming up next
on the NFL Fantasy Football Podcast. So last week on
the show, we talked about last chance guys, and I
was calling him like, you know, biggie, guys, give me
one more chance, give me, give me one more chance.
(47:22):
And now these are guys that, Okay, it's been three weeks,
we have seen nothing. Not necessarily ready to drop them.
Maybe in some cases, but generally not. But at least
these guys are going to the bench. So Lakwan, who
is on your bench until further notice?
Speaker 3 (47:39):
Chase Brown Man, things aren't looking good with that old line.
I mean, he has two point zero yards per carry,
which is the worst among all running backs right now,
negative fifty three yards charge before contact. That old line
is not helping him. It is disgusting at this point
where he has to hit the bench and like quietly,
like low key, I'm starting to look at j Brooks
(48:02):
all my watch lists, like when do I hit that button?
Because eventually he's going to start getting opportunities because Chase
Brown just has not looked good running the ball like
at all. So it's like, what do they do with
this run game?
Speaker 1 (48:14):
Yeah, except if you can't trust Chase Brown behind that
offensive line, can you really trust a less talented back
behind that offensive line?
Speaker 3 (48:22):
I mean, you have to try something. He needs to
be involved more. I mean some my J. P. Ryan
is there and he's not doing much damage either, So
it's like, you guys have to do something to at
least try to help this offense with Jake Brown is
struggling with their turnovers, and there needs to be a
type of balance between the run game and the passing
game obviously.
Speaker 1 (48:40):
Yeah, it's just it is bad though, Like Chase Brown
was terrible yesterday the Bengals.
Speaker 4 (48:47):
Unfortunately.
Speaker 2 (48:48):
Yeah, the Bengals.
Speaker 1 (48:49):
Offense in general was terrible, but Chase Brown especially.
Speaker 4 (48:53):
They gave him five targets yesterday. Maybe that's something.
Speaker 2 (48:56):
Tim Cherry's for three yards that is brutal.
Speaker 4 (49:02):
Yeah, I know, I know the quan said it, but
he his yards contact before yards before in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (49:09):
Yeah, that's bad.
Speaker 1 (49:10):
You're staying in Cincinnati though.
Speaker 2 (49:12):
Florio. For the guy that you are kind of fed up.
Speaker 4 (49:14):
With, yeah, T Higgins. I know we had a long
argument on Jamar Chase earlier and I said I would
still be starting him. I really didn't have a whole
bunch of T Higgins on my teams this season, and
if I did, I would be considering sitting him because
even including the game that Joe Burrow played, T Higgins
on the year has seven catches for one hundred and
(49:35):
four yards in one touchdown. The usage hasn't been there.
And with Jake Browning like he clearly is going Jamar
Chase's way way more than he is going T Higgins ways.
So I think a quarterback like Browning and volume is
enough to sustain the one. The number two I have
big questions about, especially considering like Lakwamas saying their upcoming schedules.
(49:58):
So yeah, I think T Higgins right now, if I
have him, I'm hitting the panic button hard.
Speaker 1 (50:05):
The guy that I'm very much hitting the panic button
on right now is Travis Hunter. Some of it is
the quarterback for sure. Obviously we've seen team min He's
t low so he's Trevor. He's like Trevor low Rince
at this point low Rence right now. That has something
to do with it the fact that neither he nor
(50:25):
Brian Thomas he being Travis Hunter or Brian Thomas Junior,
can get any quality targets consistently. The passing game is
an absolute mess in Jacksonville. The other part of it
is Travis Hunter's defensive snaps have very quite not even quietly,
they have jumped off.
Speaker 3 (50:44):
Last two weeks.
Speaker 1 (50:44):
Over the last two weeks. Week one, he played six
snaps on defense. Week two that numbers up to thirty nine.
Yesterday was up to forty one. In fact, this week
he played more defensive snaps than offensive snaps. All that
talk from Liam Cohen about how, oh no, he's a
wide receiver, we want him to play all these snaps
(51:05):
on offense. We want to play eighty percent of the
snaps on offense. Yesterday he played fifty three percent of
the offensive snaps. He played nearly seventy percent of the
defensive snaps.
Speaker 2 (51:15):
Suddenly, things are changing in.
Speaker 1 (51:17):
Jacksonville with how they want to use Travis Hunter throwing
the fact that he's just not getting opportunities in the
passing game. Yesterday two targets caught one for twenty one yards.
That was it. They the Jaguars are sort of pivoting
on the fly with how they want to use him,
and that means that we as fantasy managers have to
(51:37):
pivot along with them. And right now the pivot is
to put Travis Hunter on the bench because the Jaguars
offense is bad and it looks like the usage for
the former Heisman Trophy winner. I guess the Heisman Trophy winner, right,
you can't be a former Heisman trow It's like being
you know, it's like you know, being president, You're.
Speaker 4 (51:55):
Always you know, he is still defending one too, he
is true.
Speaker 1 (51:59):
They have no announcidus with trophies since the last time
he won it. Either way, the point of this is
he's not helping your fantasy team and you can't keep
throwing him in your lineup every single week.
Speaker 3 (52:11):
So didn't draft him. Situational player sees the thing.
Speaker 2 (52:17):
Like we weren't.
Speaker 1 (52:18):
He wasn't supposed to be a situational player. He's not
a situational player. He's a player with a bad offense, right, I.
Speaker 4 (52:25):
Think we're building him to the point where we're going
to see him full time on both sides, because like
it was all offense then it became a little bit
of bolt. Now it's a little bit. I think they're
training him to get to the point where like he's
like an eighty percent snap player on both sides. But
it's not even that to me. It's the quarterback play
like it's it's awful, bad.
Speaker 2 (52:47):
Bad, that's it.
Speaker 1 (52:48):
Which seems like a perfect way to segue though into
the waiver wire, because even if you're not dropping these guys,
you are still looking for help in some form or
fashion on your fantasy roster. So Florida that put together
this who you got for folks to keep an eye
on on for.
Speaker 2 (53:03):
The waiver wire this week.
Speaker 4 (53:04):
It's not a huge waiver week, but at quarterback, I
think Stafford and Sam Darnold are they're they're showing a
safe enough floor where they could be rostered as QB
two's especially Donald looking more and more comfortable. It wasn't
against the Saints, but for what it's worth, Trey Benson
is the biggest ad of the week. If he is
out there. Base Shall Twoton got the goal on work
(53:25):
what he marks basically split snaps with Nick Chubb down
the middle. Jeremy McNichols, I know, didn't play a ton
of snaps, but he looks like the most explosive runner
in that backfield. Recal Daddo played a lot more this
week with Chuba Hubbard there, and then so did Ali Gordon,
and he was getting the goal line looks for the
Dolphins at wide receiver Darnell Mooney, A lot of people
(53:47):
kind of cut bait with him after his bad week too,
but I think eleven targets yesterday team high elic Iomanner
LaQuan is saying pick him up a week over Jamar Chase.
Speaker 2 (53:57):
I ain't say it like that.
Speaker 3 (53:58):
I'm just saying I would think of yeah, they're gonna
kill me for that.
Speaker 4 (54:03):
Christian Kirk, Look, he didn't have a huge game, but
he's back and healthy and that's what we care about.
Luther Burden just an upside play for later on. Trey Tucker,
I don't really want him, but I felt like I
had to add him to the list. And then Alec Pierce,
Parker Washington led the team in targets and Calvin Austin
was the number two target for the Steelers. And then
at tight end everyone dropped Hunter Henry after he had
(54:26):
a bad week too, and he reminded you why you
don't do that. He is my biggest pick up at
tight end, but Brenton Strange getting a lot of volume,
and then Chig a Conquo saw some good volume and
has a I believe the Titans have a favorable schedule
coming up.
Speaker 1 (54:40):
Yeah, Hunter Henry, I think weeks two and three are
just sort of a reminder of who Hunter Henry is. Right, Like,
you're gonna have those weeks where it's bad and didn't
get a lot of look, than gona have those weeks
where you know he ends up in the.
Speaker 2 (54:51):
End zone once or twice.
Speaker 1 (54:52):
So like that's just part of the Hunter Henry I experience.
Speaker 4 (54:57):
I think he might be becoming Drake May's go to guy.
Speaker 2 (55:01):
Which I mean it's good for under Henry.
Speaker 1 (55:04):
It also says bad things once again about the Patriots
wide receiver room. They just cannot get that right for.
Speaker 3 (55:12):
Sure being used right at all. That's a red flag.
Speaker 1 (55:17):
I mean maybe also is there the possibility that maybe
Stefan Diggs is just on the decline to like, that's
in the that's in the realm of possibility, take care of.
Speaker 4 (55:27):
His post playing life.
Speaker 1 (55:28):
So yeah, by the way, you mentioned Ali Gordon and
the opportunities he got. Because I missed the start of
the game on Thursday night, I texted you guys, like
I got home and I'm seeing all this Ali Gordon
on the field. I was like, did something that did
Devaney shan't get hurt because like, I just got home,
Did I missed something? And You're like, no, they're just
using Ali Gordon right now. I'm like, oh, okay, So maybe.
Speaker 4 (55:52):
I don't love it, but for Gordon it's good.
Speaker 1 (55:55):
Maybe Mike mcgang was trying to do something, switch it up,
try to you know, save his job prospects.
Speaker 3 (56:00):
Both of them could be Fantasy relevant.
Speaker 4 (56:01):
I think, yeah, essentially, sure, sure, if you're not giving
Goline touches to agent, and that hurts.
Speaker 1 (56:09):
A lot, a little bit harder, but he still gets
all those targets.
Speaker 2 (56:13):
That's the thing that will keep him afloated.
Speaker 4 (56:15):
He is.
Speaker 1 (56:17):
He is sort of game script proof because he's going
to get a ton of targets. I saw the meme.
I think I said, you guys, the meme right, the
is at or behind the line of scriptage somewhere.
Speaker 2 (56:31):
Over here somewhere right, he's.
Speaker 1 (56:33):
Down there, he's he's standing next to me somewhere.
Speaker 2 (56:35):
I just talk to him and let him do it.
Speaker 4 (56:36):
If we're talking about running backs, by the way, I mean,
I gotta call out Mike. I've been an Isaiah Pacheco's supporter,
but what the hell were you doing on those routes
last night? Like he was running the wrong way, he
was running backwards. He at one point could have kept
the play going, but instead decided to spike it, Like Ike,
I don't know what was going on there.
Speaker 1 (56:55):
That was a weird play, by the way, in general,
just because it was a lateral.
Speaker 2 (56:59):
He could have picked it up and run with it.
Speaker 1 (57:01):
He could have even tried to throw it downfield, but
he just spiked it into the ground. And then the
Giants decided to challenge it, which is like, well, what
good was that going because you weren't going to get
the ball?
Speaker 4 (57:11):
Like what was that the other one where if Mahomes
doesn't rip the ball away the Giants might win that game?
Who knows?
Speaker 3 (57:18):
Oh yeah, yeah that was huge.
Speaker 2 (57:20):
Chiefs are broken right now.
Speaker 1 (57:22):
I know there are thirty one other teams that don't
feel even slightly bad about it. Thirty one other fan
bases don't even feel remotely bad about it. But the
Chiefs are broken. Right now, We'll see.
Speaker 4 (57:31):
The Ravens, and then after that they have like the
Lions commanders bills on the schedule.
Speaker 2 (57:36):
Yeah that's rough, Yeah that's rough.
Speaker 1 (57:38):
Maybe it looks better when Rahi Rice's back, when Xavier
Worthy is back, maybe it looks a little bit better.
Speaker 2 (57:43):
But even Mahomes looks broken out.
Speaker 1 (57:47):
In the Year of Our Football Lord twenty twenty five,
it's Taekwon Thornton carving up the Giants, making ridiculous highlight
reel catches.
Speaker 3 (57:55):
I put a claim last night. I put a claim
on them. I need it.
Speaker 4 (57:58):
I think it goes away when Worthy comes back. But
my favorite thing in the last two weeks has been
Taekwon Thornton drops a deep ball and Mahomes like, no, no, no, no, no,
we are getting it back, and the.
Speaker 1 (58:12):
Yeah, Taekwon Thornton or Jamar Chase, here we.
Speaker 3 (58:17):
Go, Yeah, yeah, we're I think, get out of here.
You're just gonna amp the chat. They're gonna kill me
for that.
Speaker 1 (58:23):
I'm just saying I am looking at other like options
right that are been producing these last three weeks over
the bigger names like bro Come on, I'm going to
look that way at least once, Like his schedule upcoming
is terrible and Jake Browning has been terrible. But I'll
leave it at that, all right. I'm sure we will
(58:45):
have this conversation again at.
Speaker 3 (58:46):
Something we will and look, I am man are probably
gonna have more fancy points than to Jamar Chase next week,
but we'll save that next three weeks.
Speaker 4 (58:52):
If I outscores him, we have to think of something
we have to put by Wednesday show. We have to
have something on the line.
Speaker 1 (59:00):
Right well, that just something, just something for us to
keep it keep track of over the next three weeks.
The race between l I O. Manor and Jamar Chase, Dude,
I Maner wins. This is gonna be insufferable. It's gonna
be the worst. That's gonna be the worst, and he
would deserve to be.
Speaker 4 (59:15):
I would give him all.
Speaker 1 (59:17):
That's true, you would. You would have earned it at
that point. All right, good spot for us to call
it a day right now. That'll do it for this
edition of the NFL Fantasy Football podcast.
Speaker 2 (59:26):
They happy, safe and healthy, do good and live well.
Enjoy the week, everybody.
Speaker 1 (59:29):
We will talk to you again on Wednesday.
