Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome inside with the Insiders alongside Judy Batista, Ian Rapaport
and Mike Karafalla who is on the field at MetLife Stadium.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
And minute by minute getting zero, minute by minute, it
is getting cold.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
My office is a little warm, actually technical.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
At kickoff, the real field temperature is going to be
in the mid thirties.

Speaker 4 (00:21):
And we started in the sixties and I think we're
already in the fifties.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Mix and overcoat Mike, just as you know, I will hot.
All right, we will get to that game shortly. Here.
This is part two of the Monday Podcast, and al'o
find this show on YouTube every Monday. Here, let's get
into some of the injuries out of Sunday's games. Ian,
I'll start with you. None bigger than the one that
we saw for Aiden Hutchinson the Lions Star pass rush.

(00:48):
Remember of a team that is so fun, so exciting,
so talented, but also a guy who was hugely impactful
for that defense. Give me the details as we know
them right now, and the impact for Trade Mood for yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:01):
Friend of the Insiders too. It's all bad. I mean
it's not all bad, but most of it is bad.
Here's the bad part. It is a fractured tibia, a
fractured fibula. He had immediate surgery at Baylor in Dallas
and is going to stay there, it sounds like for
a couple of days, so he is not going to
return to Detroit yet. Sounds like he's going to travel

(01:25):
when he can, which is not going to be immedia.
But Baylor is excellent as a Tier one trauma center,
and it sounds like he is getting as good a
care as he could possibly get.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
He is obviously out.

Speaker 5 (01:37):
For the season, which I think anyone, you know, we
all report injuries, but I think you know, that was
one of those things that anyone saw it knew immediately.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
He's obviously out for the season.

Speaker 5 (01:45):
My understanding is he is expected to make a full
recovery for twenty twenty five. It is a four to
six month recovery, which means by next spring he should
be okay. The person on the same field is him.
Prescott had a very similar injury and not only was
back in the next year, but got a huge contract.

(02:06):
Aiden Hutchinson is going to be fine. It just sucks, honestly,
it just sucks.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Like he is awesome. He seems like a great dude.

Speaker 5 (02:14):
He is so consequential to that team and you can't
go find another one. I know, it's the reality of
this sport. We all cover it and you sort of
get numb to it. But I deal with a lot
of injuries, as you guys do, and I was honestly
numb watching it.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
So anyway, that's Judy.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
You were there. Obviously you spent a lot of time
postgame with the Cowboys and Jerry Jones, who probably took
up a lot of your time, but just in the
press box watching it, seen the replay, and then just
any reaction you got out of the Lions. Who were
your takeaways.

Speaker 6 (02:48):
Well, first of all, you knew immediately how serious it was,
and immediately you realized how important it was because the
Lions stopped right and were gathered around him and the
Lions fans. It was a huge Lions fan contingent in
Dallas yesterday, and it got silent in the building, both
Cowboys and Lions fans, just absolute silence while they helped

(03:12):
him on the fields and he was you know, it
took a long time. They put the air cast on him,
they brought the card out. I mean, he was. It
was a good fifteen minutes before they took them off
the field and put them right in the ambulance and
took them to the hospital. So it was it ended
the celebration. I mean, obviously to that point it had
been a Detroit Lions party, and you could feel the

(03:33):
air go out of that immediately. Obviously after the game,
they were still very excited about their performance and all
of that, but I mean you could tell they were
just heartbroken for him, and they obviously know better than
anybody the impact he has on that team. So it
did take a little bit of something off off the game,

(03:53):
and it was just I mean, it was just so
awful to watch, right, I mean even in the press box,
and you know, obviously we got were these things for
a living, and you're just like we were all just
sitting there like, oh, just brutal to watch Mike.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Yeah, and you talk about his impact on the team,
it's not just in what he does as a defensive
end excuse me, and a pass rusher. He brings energy,
he brings leadership, he brings all those things to that
locker room. So that'll still be around in the form
of him being around the team, but just not in
the same capacity.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
Obviously as if.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
He was on the field, but it did find it
interesting and he and you alluded to this the fact,
and I immediately sent a text to his agent, Mike McCartney,
who was one of the better guys in that business
that you're ever gonna have a chance to work alongside
and communicate with. And he didn't get back to me
until a couple hours later, and the one thing he

(04:46):
said was, thankfully, it could have been worse.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
So it's amazing to see.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
How bad it was and then to hear that it
actually the initial reports were it was not as bad
as it could have been. We saw what happened with
Alex Smith, certain knock on, wouldn't hope that doesn't happen
here in this case, so glad to hear a positive spin. Be.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
The first thing that I heard back from mccartneyl.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Now, not an open fracture, not which is previously known
as a compound fracture. That's what led to the infections
and things we saw with Alex Smith. So these things
are normally I know, Dan Campbell said four to six months.
Four months is right around Super Bowl time, Like the
absolute best case scenario would be like twelve weeks for
him to start ramping up into football activity. If anybody

(05:28):
can do it, you'd think it's a guy with those
bloodlines and that history and that want to in him.
But obviously just wishing the best for a Nutch and
Sinn's recovery. Another significant injury to a team that's right
now is in playoff position. Jonathan Allen, the Commander's longtime
standout defensive lineman, two time Pro Bowl pick, torn Peck

(05:49):
out for the season. It sounded bad yesterday because Jonathan
Allen doesn't miss time. He'd missed like three games total
over the previous eight years. Now out for the season here,
all of which brings us to, you know, some of
the things the NFL does not stop. We are twenty
two days out from the trade deadline. We already had
one trade that broke during the first part of this podcast.

(06:12):
Roy robertson Harris defensive lineman going, I want to say
from Jacksonville, really from London to Seattle, because that's where
he was with the Jaguars on a ten hour flight.
But you'll see continued movement here, especially when you have
some of these types of injuries that occur the closely
get to the trade deadline, the more the urgency rises
to try to make something happen. So you wonder if
the Commanders and the Lions potentially could be in that

(06:35):
trade market as we move forward here. The Commanders also
lost a football game yesterday to a really, really good
Ravens team, Judy, that started off oh and two. You
watch them and you didn't think, like this is a
bad team, but like they had to eat that thing
out hold on against the Cowboys in Week three to
avoid zero and three start. Now you know, the Vikings

(06:56):
are unbeaten, the Chiefs are unbeaten. There's some really good
teams around the league, but that Ravens team when they
get rolling, especially with Derrick Henry doing what he's doing
and Zay Flowers, who Ian, by the way, was giving
me crap because I tweeted about him before the game
being the fastest player in Ravens history to get to
one hundred catches. He said a career high last week,

(07:16):
then yesterday he reset his career high in receiving yards
in the first half.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
That he really is pretty fun to watch. I'm not
gonna lie.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
Comin people they've put around Lamar Jackson, Judy, it's really
impressive and you can see them kind of taking off
as this thing gets moving.

Speaker 6 (07:31):
Okay, just side note, that was a grand Slam for
the New York Mets. Uh. Yes, what I'm amazed about
is we spent like two decades with the Ravens.

Speaker 5 (07:43):
My TV's a little a little behind. You didn't ruin
it because I got Twitter up so I saw that too.

Speaker 6 (07:48):
But all right, okay, focus, focus. The Ravens are now
an offensive juggernaut after like two decades where they were
driven by their defense, and now their offense is like
on stoppable. And to me, what I love so much
about this is the addition of Derrick Henry was just
as great as we've always thought the addition of Derrick
Henry to the Ravens would be, right like ever since

(08:11):
we thought that would be the perfect marriage, like earlier,
right like, that's exactly what I thought, Like, man, all
these years he should have been with the Ravens. It's amazing.
And he looked, you know like if anybody thought Derrick
Henry was even close to being done, Dereck Henry is
not done. I mean not with this team. He looks fantastic,

(08:31):
Lamar looks amazing, accurate he just had his I think
this was two in a row, three hundred plus yards passing.
He looks like an MVP again, So they're rolling rolling.

Speaker 5 (08:47):
Yeah, it's I was thinking the same thing yesterday as
I was watching Derek Kenry just do great things for
my fantasy team and for the Ravens, for the Ravens
real team.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
It's like, why didn't this happen earlier?

Speaker 5 (08:58):
It's maybe the most perfect match ever, But I always wonder,
like the Ravens have always had a pretty good run game,
I feel like, and especially when Greg Rome was there,
like they ran the ball as well as anyone, and
it was you know, so much about like Lamar throw
from the pocket and how well can you pick up
our defenses? And now it's like they got Derrick Henry,
who was awesome, And I think maybe Lamar is just

(09:18):
like so strange because he's a two time MVP, but
I feel like he's playing as well as ever, like
finding different guys like and you know, it's like the
storyline of why is Mark Andrews not contributed as well
as he had previously is actually a great one because
Lamar's just literally throwing it to who's ever open it's
all coinciding to be I think the best Ravens team

(09:38):
we've seen in the lamar era and that is and
that is pretty awesome.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
I Mean they havec stuff anyway, but that's pretty awesome.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
One of the uh, one of the things that I
went while watching yesterday that stood out to me. You
can bop along to this one, guys, you can find
you in the club.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
Jerry was playing this in the press Fox pre game
yesterday at the party ended pretty quick. Jerry Jones in
the press box and it is his luxury box. It's
it's a joke, Mike.

Speaker 4 (10:07):
Just oh okay.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
I thought you really had some inside information the makeup
of that team and even the coaching staff, right like
Zach Orr younger defensive coordinator, John Harball, experience coach Todd
Mounkin offensive coordinator obviously experienced as well. And then you
see that throughout the roster, a mix up young guys
and then veterans who are playing some of.

Speaker 4 (10:29):
Their best football. Derek Henry, Kyle van Noy, what he's
doing defensively.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
So it's like you look at that roster and you go,
that's exactly the way it should look like.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
Hello, wins.

Speaker 6 (10:38):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (10:38):
That is the way that it should look like.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
Uh, and that's what makes them certainly a dangerous team
in addition to the talent that they have. One more thing,
I would make a left turn here because I thought
this was cool. At the end of the game.

Speaker 6 (10:48):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
Post game, John Harball's at the podium and Chad Steele,
the head of media relations, pulls them off the podium
and says, uh, hey, guys, got gotta take them, and
then came back and did explain to the media and said, like, look,
just want you to know that his brother had left
the field. Nobody knew what was going on, so he
didn't want him up on the podium while that was happening.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
I want him also to have a chance to make
that wi yeah, oh yeah, which is.

Speaker 6 (11:12):
Jim.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
That's a good job of media relations, taking care of
your people as well, and also, you know, letting the
media know we weren't being rude and just cutting things short.

Speaker 4 (11:22):
We wanted you to know what was going on. A
good job of communicating. I thought that was a cool
moment yesterday, just all around that we had a couple
more rookie quarterbacks. A couple of times ago, happy birthday Jack.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
We had a couple more rookie quarterbacks make their debuts yesterday.
No wins for Spencer Rattler or Drake May, but Mike
Stalking is somebody here, so I'll go to ian on
this first year. Sure, and you certainly saw the flashes
the Patriots fall in that fourteen nothing hole. May throw
was the interception, but he also made some plays. Spencer
Rattler played in one of like the wackiest games you

(11:53):
could possibly make your debut in as a rookie quarterback,
being in a huge hole we're in all the way
back to take the lead, and then obviously the Bucks
took over. You give up fifty one points. I think
if you went into that game and told the Saints like, hey,
your offense is going to score, what do they have?
Twenty seven or whatever, they'd be like, okay, like we
can we can live with that. It just ended up
being this track me type of game. But you know,

(12:16):
Rattler's first touchdown pass to another rookie is a pretty
impressive throw. You can see why the Saints, you know,
ideally not right now, but somewhere down the line, they
think they might have something there.

Speaker 5 (12:26):
Yeah, the Saints do believe they got to steal. I
think they see Rattler as a potential starter in the NFL,
and they are. They're not alone. I'm really curious to
see how that plays out. You're right, I mean he
actually he played pretty well. I think made some mistakes
you would sort of expect but you hope to not see.
And it's like Derek Carr is not perfect. But that
really is the difference between these like veteran multi year starters,

(12:51):
just like the crazy mistakes that you don't see from
You do see some mistakes from Derek Carr, but not
like that. But yeah, I think a lot to like
with Spencer Rally. It's really for the Saints, it's really,
you know, the defense not being able to tackle. You know,
their toughness and tenacity and ability to tackle has been
a Dennis Allen Staple. I would not expect this to continue.

(13:11):
Hopefully it's a blip, but that that was kind of strange.
The Drake May won to me, this Patriots team like
they are not. I think they're gonna be okay, and
I don't know how many games are gonna win this year,
I really don't. But Drake May had some moments. He
had some great dos. His first touchdown was a really
nice throw, had a lot of good moments, showed some mobility, everything.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
The Patriots want to see. And they lost.

Speaker 5 (13:37):
And I'm not saying the Patriots want to lose, because
nobody wants to lose. Ever, the Patriots are in that
weird spot and this kind of reminds me a little
bit of early Bengals with Joe Burrow, where the team
was bad but he was good and they lost a
lot of games and just loaded up with talent and
then became good in year three. It was right, yeah,

(13:59):
in year three, and so like, that's to me where
the Patriots are.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
Where you see flash of Drake May be, like, this
could be the guy.

Speaker 5 (14:04):
The team continues to play hard and lose, it gets
to a point where they can collect talent. If that happens,
if they can stay with it, keep playing hard, I
think they'll be okay eventually. But as Drad Mayo keeps saying,
it is definitely going to take time to build a roster.

Speaker 6 (14:20):
I thought that was a win for the Patriots yesterday
in the big picture, to see Drake may shows something
and to give it give everybody a little bit of
a jolt of energy and something to hold on to,
because I think that's a you know, that's something we
don't think about. We are thinking about it strictly in
terms of the football, but like the fan date that,

(14:43):
like they need to give people something to still pay
attention to and be interested in and invest in, invest
their emotions in. And like he gave you enough if
you're a Patriots fan to sort of say, like, Okay,
hang on, we're going to get better. And this kid
m looks like he could be the guy. I would

(15:04):
never suggest that a team tank, but I mean, let's
face it, if you're the Patriots, like you wanted, you
want to do exactly what he and just described.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
But I'm.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
Already the quarterback and you obviously you.

Speaker 6 (15:22):
Needs skill position players. You need so much. But that's
the like, that's the way to go if you're the Patriots.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
I got the chance to spend some time around Drake
may Uh pre draft, uh, Senior Bowl and his Pro
day as well, and just you saw the makeup of
him and what he was about. Now I I didn't
think he was because I understood the We don't want
to throw him out there behind a bad offensive line,
and you know, like we want to take this along

(15:51):
a little bit slowly. Let you know, uh, let you
Kobe Brissette take some of these shots here and uh.

Speaker 4 (15:57):
But at some point, like you got to, you gotta put.

Speaker 2 (15:59):
Him out there. He's not gonna wither. He's I don't
think he's gonna go in the tank and he'll learn
some hard lessons this year. But I think he had
the mental makeup just being around him and talking to
people about him, he had the mental makeup to deal
with some disappointing moments throughout the season. And I think
you saw that yesterday and they got behind, you know,
just like with Rattler got behind as well, and you're like, oh,

(16:21):
that's a hoof, that's a bad and then actually he
was okay and made some throws along the way. These
these players are coming in, I mean, I go back
to in Judy, you know, Eli Manning, the way that
he just absolutely melted that first year when he was
in the league.

Speaker 4 (16:33):
You sort of feel felt bad for him.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
At some point, these guys come in a little bit
more ready than quarterbacks used to be because.

Speaker 4 (16:40):
They're in that world.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
It's a different world now that they're in in college
as well. So it's it's not quite the NFL, but
it's a little bit more, a little bit more of
that awareness and that attention, that spotlight.

Speaker 4 (16:50):
So Ian's got his finger up. I think he wants
to add a point here.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
If I'm not mistaken, it's if you're just listening to
the podcast.

Speaker 5 (16:56):
By the way, you guys right, other fingers up different,
but the pointer up. Now, do you guys know who
Ben Brown is?

Speaker 1 (17:04):
He's got naming a center who started three days after signing.

Speaker 5 (17:08):
He is the center who has pulled off the Raiders
practice squad, who started three days after signing and was,
according to Gerardmeo, the best offensive lineman on the field.
I have no idea whether we're ever going to talk
about Ben Brown ever again, and he might not even
be I mean, Cole Strange might end up being the
Patriots starting center when he ever gets back.

Speaker 3 (17:28):
But that was unbelievable. He played really well.

Speaker 5 (17:33):
I had barely heard of him, and I don't know
where this Patriots team is going. I mean we talked
about that, but like that's some really good coaching, that's
some really good scouting, and that is a really good
sign for the Patriots.

Speaker 3 (17:44):
That that all happened.

Speaker 1 (17:45):
No, Mike Grifolo didn't just feel like putting on a
suit and some big headphones and sitting on the field
of met life stating for a second straight day, he
is there because we've got a clash for first place
in the AFC East between the two and three Jets
who just fired their head coach and the three and
two Bills that have lost to multiple games. Mike, Uh,

(18:09):
you know, we talked about it on TV yesterday. There's
so many different things going on with the Jets right now,
from firing the head coach to benching the offensive play caller.
Nathane Hacket's gonna go upstairs, Todd Downing's coming down to
the sideline. Here, they're trying to figure out what are
they supposed to be as an offense. Jeff Olbrick first
time interim head coach. Here. The Bills are, you know,

(18:31):
finding their way as well. A little bit less turmoile
this week. What are you looking for out there Monday
New Football?

Speaker 2 (18:38):
I'm looking for the Jets to I think listen and
the conditions are going to set up for this. But
I'm looking for because it is getting windy. If you
can't tell by if you're watching.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
You you got to get a wind screen like I
have on my thing. It's great out.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
Then send it to me.

Speaker 3 (18:51):
I had to buy it.

Speaker 4 (18:52):
Did you expense it be able to get that back.

Speaker 6 (18:57):
Screen for your microphone in your home? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (19:00):
Ever leaves the house.

Speaker 3 (19:01):
It was poppy. Is not a heavy bath.

Speaker 4 (19:07):
All right.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
I'm looking for a faster start. I'm looking for them
to commit to the ground game as well. And again
I talked about the conditions because it is gonna get
when it is cold, it is windy, it is gonna
get windy, or it's gonna get colder. Uh So this
is the night where you want to run the balls.
I think this could be a breeze hall breakout. We've
been waiting for the especially if you draft them a
fantasy you want to see that breakout night. You also
want to see this team play passionately. You want to
see these fans get into it. You want to have

(19:29):
a raucous atmosphere. It's kind of the way it was
the last time these teams played on Prime Time. Four
snaps into the game, things went south. But that game
wound up the crowd was still into it, and it
was a punt return to win it. So it still
was that kind of atmosphere. So I expect that I
expect energy from the team. I expect energy from the
fan base tonight. And you know, and talking to these

(19:50):
guys this week, talk to a couple of team leaders
that I would call Morgan Moses on the offensive side,
c J mos in the defensive side, and they talked
about when the news came down, they had a play
players meeting before they had the team meeting, and in
that player's meeting, they said, look, we came into this
season saying we wanted to be a player driven team.
We still need to be a player driven team more

(20:10):
so than ever. So that was the message here with
these guys to get to rally behind here. So come
on to get these guys to rally behind you. Did
ask about the Bills as well, sell Ca Patio on
Columbus days.

Speaker 4 (20:22):
Two Italians, Wow, two yeah, two balls, two Italians. That's
what we are. He can't hear you, but that's okay.
It's better that way. So trust me.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
Let's give you your side of the Bills game or
your Bill side of the game tonight.

Speaker 7 (20:34):
Well listen, obviously, this is an offensive has struggled mightily
over the last couple of weeks in Baltimore.

Speaker 4 (20:39):
At Houston.

Speaker 7 (20:39):
Really, one of the big issues is separation from the
wide receivers just not getting it.

Speaker 4 (20:43):
So teams are playing a man of man.

Speaker 7 (20:45):
They're pressuring Josh Allen, and twice two weeks in a
row now, Mike, we've seen Josh Allen lying on the
turf injured. The Bills have to figure out a way
to either scheme something up or those receivers have to
a better job.

Speaker 4 (20:55):
If they had Plosha care back tonight, that'll help.

Speaker 7 (20:58):
Obviously he's not the cure all end all, but they
need someone to be able to work underneath a little bit,
to take a little pressure.

Speaker 4 (21:04):
Do we know what's gonna happen there? Do they do?

Speaker 2 (21:05):
They tell the sideline guy for the broadcast whether these
guys are playing.

Speaker 7 (21:08):
Unfortunately they don't. But I do think it's trending a
little better for him later. Uh, first day of the
week practice, he didn't do anything. Second day, he was
working off the side a little bit more with Sean Buchelle.
The uh, I'm sorry, with Mike White, the third string quarterback,
So maybe he's trending that way. And then obviously you've
had reports that James Cook looks like, you know, he's
looking to play.

Speaker 4 (21:25):
So hopefully they have both those guys back. Yep, that'll
be a big one.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
You think he's got that toe issue, but he's able
to work in practice on Saturday.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
Today's a Monday. Uh so that was a good day
for him. Sahaa. For more of that analysis, tune into
the Bills broadcast. You're gonna get it from the sideline.

Speaker 2 (21:39):
One of the great guys, one of the great reporters,
sideline reporters in the league.

Speaker 4 (21:42):
Happy Columbus Day, buddy, you two have a great night.
Everybody all right's we get some meat?

Speaker 3 (21:46):
Boss? How am I gonna follow that?

Speaker 1 (21:49):
I don't know. You put your finger up again?

Speaker 3 (21:52):
Finger no, I said, I said, I like that. He's
he's got it, not like this. He's got a max.
I also have a Max. I like sal Uh. You
know what was interesting there was him.

Speaker 5 (22:04):
Talking about how people have played the Bills receivers man
to man, I'm not sure the Jets are going to
do that.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
It's not really it's not really their thing.

Speaker 5 (22:12):
So but anyway, I don't really have a lot to
add except for I added Braileen Allen on my fantasy
team before this game, expecting Jets to kind of pound
it and the way it was described to me, and
we'll see what happens. But the way it was described
to me was the identity they have on defense they
would like to have on offense, and so they are

(22:34):
going to run the heck out of the ball to
establish that. And I'm like, I got to add Braylon
Allen just because I can't get Breese Hall, so I
need a sort of account for that. So well, I
mean obviously reported, but I'm just saying, like, we'll see
what what Brailon Allen, who's really showed flashes this year,
youngest player in the NFL, have a lot of high
and downing.

Speaker 2 (22:54):
Downing is not far into the idea of running the football,
so that that fits with that as well, Judy.

Speaker 6 (22:58):
Goat and also hope that the Bills have struggled to
stop the run, right, So this is a very fortuitous
time to say nothing of the wind, which is obviously
going to be a factor. By the way, they issued
wind warnings for the tailgaters to be careful with their
grills and don't put the tents up. That's how windy
it is.

Speaker 4 (23:16):
You never see that morning.

Speaker 6 (23:17):
I can only imagine, so I guess in my head,
because I've covered the Jets for so long, like what
happens if they lose? After all it's happened this week.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
Because where do you right?

Speaker 6 (23:31):
You push right? You're not benching the quarterback? Obviously you've
already done the other Adam bomb, Like where do you
go from here? If you don't look better? I don't know,
so they better look better.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
I mean, it will see, it will be the reality.
But particularly because the Jets, because everything that happened this week,
it will feel like the season is over. If this
is bad tonight and Rogers throws three picks and they
lose the Bills, you will feel like they are done.
Even though they're two and four, they're still within reach
of making a run here. It's just you know, you're
you're anticipating, you're going to get the bounce, just like

(24:05):
we saw, you know, last year when Antonio Pierce took
over the Raiders, just like we saw the previous year
for all of one game.

Speaker 3 (24:12):
Which just says it's not very nice.

Speaker 1 (24:14):
You feel like something is new and it just is
a different vibe and a different personnality. I talked about
this on Game day morning yesterday. When it comes to
the offense, when you're at this stage in the season,
you're not you know, you're really not going to just
like scrap the whole offense. It just doesn't. It doesn't
work that way. And so they're operating within the same
terminology and the same framework at the offense, but it's

(24:35):
a different personality. It's somebody different at the front of
the room. One thing that defensive coaches had noticed was
the run in the pass didn't really look alike. So
when they don't really look alike, and Todd Downey and
his time going back to the Raiders and the Titans,
it was one thing they were good at was the
run of the past looking the same. It really mitigates
your play action game. And the Jets statistically are one

(24:58):
of the like the teams that runs play action the least,
especially on first and second down. So maybe you get
a little bit more than that. There've been all the
viral videos of whoever that third string tight end is,
who can't block anyone, just getting, you know, falling on
his face repeatedly. Maybe maybe putting the third tight end
on the field is not something you're gonna do as much,
especially when that might lead to more snaps for Mike Williams.

(25:20):
A lot of it's can be dictated by the game mic,
as you know, and also the conditions are definitely a
part of that.

Speaker 4 (25:25):
I think that was doubting. That's starting his pregame. Walk
behind me. If I'm not mistaken, you grab them.

Speaker 2 (25:31):
He usually does it with Nathaniel Hackett, which I had
said a couple of days ago on The Insiders that
those who are the Hackett's not with him, so he's
made a liar out of me.

Speaker 4 (25:39):
So big riff. I'm joking, not a big riff. Hackett's
done a great job.

Speaker 1 (25:42):
It's pretty cool that Hackett. I mean, Hackett could have said,
I don't need this crap. The Broncos are still paying me.
I'm making no money being here anymore.

Speaker 5 (25:49):
I mean they're close friends. It's all like yeah, and
it's amazing.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
Hackett still wants Aaron Rodgers to do well, right, That's
a that's a big part of what he.

Speaker 4 (25:57):
Wants to do.

Speaker 1 (25:57):
And Todd and he's fraight. He's close with Todd.

Speaker 2 (25:59):
Down I do what you guys, you asked what happens, Judy,
if they lose the Jets, I'll.

Speaker 4 (26:06):
Tell you what happens, or what might happen.

Speaker 2 (26:08):
They might just pull out of the DeVante Adams thing completely, right,
because at that point you're two and four, is Whatdy
Johnson say, Well, do we really want to use future
resources for a season that is going sideways?

Speaker 4 (26:19):
Here? I know he believes greatly in this season. Looks
the big part of this that I think that.

Speaker 2 (26:24):
A lot of people are missing And I saw the
reaction on some of the pregame shows on Sunday.

Speaker 4 (26:28):
Why did the Jets do this? Now?

Speaker 2 (26:29):
Why did they do it so early? I get that
part of it. That is a part of it. But
for Whatdy Johnson in his mind, it wasn't a five game.

Speaker 4 (26:38):
Basically sample that he was looking at. That's the word
I'm looking for. It was a four year sample.

Speaker 2 (26:44):
And he felt so highly and still does about this
team and about this roster and where they could go,
that he almost wanted to err on the side of
doing it too early rather than too late to make
the move from Roberts out and Nobsala was here and
he's standing.

Speaker 4 (26:55):
Next to me.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
He would say, what kind of quarterbacks that I have
for the first three years, which is fair.

Speaker 3 (27:00):
I know the answer to that question, which is fair.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
Okay, But in Woody Johnson's mind, they had made mistakes,
They had had the same type of bad football that
we saw regardless of who the quarterback was, and he
didn't want to have that continue with the team.

Speaker 4 (27:11):
So that's why he decided to make the move now.

Speaker 1 (27:14):
And would he surely too. Judy knew if you go
in there and nothing has changed and they look bad tonight,
you're getting booed before you even take the field. I
don't know that it's gonna go a lot better. They
go three and out of the opening drive, they're still
probably gonna hear it. But to the extent of just
trying to like cleanse the environment around the team, maybe
there's a little bit of that at least early in

(27:35):
the game tonight. And if you come out and you
go right down the field, that everyone's gonna feel like,
oh right, they don't feel like things are fixed, even
though they're not. And to Mike's point, you get the
three and three, you're tied for first place in the division.
You might be sitting there going you know, DeVante could
now be the missing piece to really put this whole
thing over.

Speaker 4 (27:53):
The top, and maybe you're willing to offer.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
A little bit more in actually trunning.

Speaker 4 (27:55):
If Harry comes out, don't talk about it. Don't talk
about it. Harry is here.

Speaker 2 (27:59):
You play anyway?

Speaker 4 (28:02):
He said, what's up that he incided.

Speaker 6 (28:06):
Judy, I have no way to follow this or I
think there was a feeling like you've got to do
something right like that I think is the feeling that
the Jets, and what he was thinking was you've got
to try something because this season is slipping away, even
though you're in it and you could be in first place.

(28:28):
You were sliding and he had to do something to
stop the slide. Now the question is did it stop
the slide? Are you going to get any kind of
lift out of the deal? I agree with you, like
I think that Devonte Adams thing is sort of hanging
in the balance here the way this week goes and
maybe next week if it extends that long, it's hard

(28:50):
for me to imagine that the Jets are not going
to make a play for DeVante Adams because you know
that Aaron wants them, and you know that you've got
this very very small window with Aaron Unchers so if
you're going to go for it, you gotta try to
do everything. But if they lose tonight, I don't know.
