Speaker 1 (00:00):
Wow, everybody, It's Monday, November twenty fourth, twenty twenty five.
Welcome to the NFL Fantasy Football Podcast, where our Thanksgiving
menu is on a point. It's me and your man,
MG Marcus Grant, joined by Michael f. Florio and Lakwan Jones.
(00:22):
I rarely have a way I plan to open the show.
Most times it's just based on vibes or feel or something.
And sometimes a show open just falls into my lap.
Because today, when I logged onto stream Yard Floria, you
and LaQuan are having a conversation about wide receivers.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
I walked in.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
I logged on, and I assumed you were talking about
Jackson Smith Injigba and that if there was ever a
wide receiver who could win the MVP.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
I said six letters, I said JSN MVP, and then
I sat back.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
And then Lakwan, you had feelings.
Speaker 4 (01:03):
I have thoughts. I have thoughts and feelings, but I
would say this right. I crashed out a little peak
behind the curtain. I crashed out before we started, and
I thought that was going to be the call to open,
which should have been. I had a lot of points,
a lot of feelings, but I'm going to say this
though Jackson Smith the Jigoba can be the offensive player
(01:25):
of the year, keep his name out of the MVP
conversation because that is just straight pure ignorance. When we're
looking what Matthew Stafford is doing right now.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
Is he about to have the best season ever by
someone playing his position?
Speaker 1 (01:41):
I am gonna let everybody in on kind of what
has been happening on this show behind the scenes for
the last I.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Don't know month? Is that about, right, Floord? The last
month or so.
Speaker 4 (01:52):
Give or take. Laqwan with the Rams.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Is I mean, stan is probably not even a strong
enough word for how you feel about the Rams right
in that if anyone says something so like, I think
I compared you to like a member of the Beehive,
right or swifty or something where like if somebody you
don't have to if you don't even have to insult
(02:18):
the Rams, they just don't have to properly praise them
for your liking, and you are ready to strike. And
so now for for the listeners out there, it has
become a game for a lot of.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
Us, and it's very easy. It's very easy.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
I mean, it is easy mode Madden to get La
Kwan to get fired up to the point of nearly
crashing out, Like we will text him things about like
what did I say?
Speaker 2 (02:50):
What did I say yesterday?
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Oh, something about Stafford's MVP case is dinged because cam
Ward had more passing yards against the Seahawks than staff
Did I know that's not the case?
Speaker 2 (03:02):
Like I know that, but it immediately.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Got a response rightday And so it's so florial saying
JSN m VP like you're ready to go to the mattresses.
I'm using like from the Godfather, You're ready to go
to the mattresses over this right now?
Speaker 3 (03:18):
On Friday, we all went out right after after the
show Friday, and uh, I just pointed out that Matthew
Stafford has the best play caller and one two punch
at receiver and he plays indoors and everything is perfect.
He's great, and the quantimals crushed out for a good bit.
Speaker 4 (03:37):
Try to get me kicked out of the restaurant, because
how is that a ding Like? How we sitting here saying, oh, whoa,
he has the most touchdowns within one yards? Who cares?
How did they get there? How did they even get
in striking?
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Again? See how see how easy that was?
Speaker 4 (03:57):
You see how I mean, you cannot be saying that
if he completed thirteen passes in a row last night,
I would be willing to give him the MVP, but
he did chat. So Chad, do you see what's happening
right now? Sharing pot me out right now?
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Most people would have just like because again everybody listeners
out there. He knows what we're doing. He knows that
we're trying to get him riled up. Like We've made
no secret. It's not hiding. We're like we say these
things just to see you get upset.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
And every single series like literally.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Like like at some point I want you to be
the Tom Hardy like mad Max meme, right, just look
at it and go that's bait, like someone. I just
want you to do that, but you don't every single time,
so we keep going.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
You guys were four scores on National TV last night
and you were crashing out in our test.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
No.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
I I purposely put my phone in the other room,
like I know what this game is going to turn
it into. I know what they're going to in the
group chat. I'm charging my phone in the other room
because I just knew you guys are going to try
to stir the pot well, the only one because Baker
got hurt. Yeah yeah, yeah yeah, I'm letting that bus
(05:13):
go by. Growth.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
That is the growth, right, that is so better?
Speaker 4 (05:19):
Is what I hear.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
This is this is what we're trying to inspire you.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
It's growth, that's all.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
It's okay, let's crashes a fighter trolling.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
You're fighting strangers on the internet for a group of
fifty you know, fifty three guys from list.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
Most of them don't know you exist.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
Like, it's okay, it's okay.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
I will say this. I will fight these battles.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
If Rams go to Seattle and lose and Jsen finishes
with two thousand, I'm going.
Speaker 4 (05:47):
To be championing him for MVP Offensive Player of the Year.
That's fine, that's okay. We all know that he's not
gonna win it, though, Like let's be serious, let's be honest, right,
A wide receiver is not gonna win MVP.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
He's not.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
But if he does what, that's great. But when we
go back ten, fifteen, twenty five years later and look
back in the record, but it's going to say Matthew
Stafford twenty twenty five, I mean, honestly, there's no good
to nobody remember like, nobody's going to remember oh jsn oh, yeah,
you receive.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Dallas for the first time ever. Everyone will be more
memorable than Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
You'd like to remember that. Yeah, people remember for.
Speaker 4 (06:23):
Sure who won the MVP of the year, Calvin put
Up nineteen forty seven or whatever it was. I don't know,
but we all remember Calvin. I don't know, but who
is the ball?
Speaker 1 (06:36):
That's his point. Anyway, We've got a lot of stuff
to talk about. We're in close to the fantasy playoffs.
Can talk about some guys you can stash on your
fantasy roster to maybe get you ready for the second season.
Of course, we'll have a drop zone, we'll have waiver wire.
But first, let's going with some news, because a whole
lot of news has happened in the last twenty four
hours or so. Starting with kind of the last bit
of news. First, Raiders in the middle of a pretty
(06:59):
missus season. I don't ask me why I stayed up
late and rewatched that game against the Browns. Maybe because
I don't like myself, I'm not sure, but either way,
the Raiders of Fire chip Kelly as their offensive coordinator.
I just saw in fact, moments ago that Greg Olsen,
the quarterback coach, not the former tight end member of
(07:19):
the seventh Floor Crew, not that guy. Greg Olsen is
going to take over as the interim offensive coordinator of Florida.
When you look at this, does this have an immediate
impact or do you anticipate, I should say, an immediate
impact on Ashton gent brock Bauer's Tyler Lockett, et cetera,
et cetera, et cetera.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
The funny thing is we've seen Greg Olsen in this role,
Like he's already been the OC for four, five, six
different years seasons for the Raiders and this is now
his third tenure in this role. Like all roles apparently lead.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
Back to Greg.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
The other candidates were two coaches with the last name Carol,
so you could figure out how they got that job.
But yeah, I'm not expecting a whole lot to change, right, Like,
like Olsen was already part of the person putting the
game plans, Like, yeah, Chip Kelly, maybe maybe it'll change
a little bit and stuff like that. But if you're
(08:15):
Greg Olsen coming in here, you've already been the quarterbacks
coach this season, and look, it doesn't take a rocket
scientist to look at the Raiders roster and be like,
there's two players whereth's feeding as much as we possibly can.
So I'm kind of operating until we see otherwise that
Genty and brock Bauers are the only Raiders where it's starting.
(08:37):
Maybe Trey Tucker if you're in like a pinch in
a deeper league or something like that. But the one
thing I will say about the Raiders, and I hope
it doesn't change, they've been throwing the ball a lot
more Dash Genty lately. I think you get eight targets
this week. Like, as long as you keep doing that,
and you keep brock Bowers also had like double digit targets,
you keep doing that, fantasy managers are going to be okay.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
I mean, part of why they throw it so much
to Ash to Genc is because they can't run it
with him.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
I mean, the offensive.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Line it it looks like a Black Friday sale. I
mean just just the big box electronics store on Black Friday,
Like the doors open and the defensive lot just comes
flooding in. I mean, I know some of it yesterday
is because it was the Browns and Miles Garrett or whatever,
but it's bad. I'm LaQuan is it is it crazy
(09:25):
to think.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
They're going to make a quarterback change too? Like?
Speaker 4 (09:29):
Are they can they keep this.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
Going with Gino Smith because there are a lot of
things wrong, but Gino's.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Not helping the problem.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
No, And like Gino said last week, like if there's
a problem with the offensive it looks weird, blame it
on me. I mean we've been blaming it on Gino
since week one, to be honestly, that's nothing new. And honestly,
if Pete Carroll wants to keep the dressing room, like
the culture of the of the team to be anywhere
near remotely positive, they need to make a QB change.
They need to change something up because like firing all
(09:57):
these guys, you're just taking you know, staff out of
the building, but you're not bringing anything in or switching
or making any adjustments to say, hey, we can go
out here and win this game. There's no hope right
now in Vegas right now, Like I think a QB change,
at least you'll see something different from your offense. You'll
see something different from Trey Tucker. Maybe there's some type
of connection there with other you know, pass catchers, like
(10:20):
a Jack besh or a Deontay Thorton that we have
not seen in weeks. Like I do think, like, you know,
if you sit in this black hole, it's going to
be just bad results week in and week out for
the rest of the season.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
They did activate Aidan O'Connell, so he's you know, he's
activated off of injury reserve. He's available. Can he Pickett
is still there? You know, stop me if one of
these guys really inspires you.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
No, it's you know again watching it. The offensive line
is terrible.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
Gino's holding the ball too long when he does have time,
He's missing throws. It was it was a mess yesterday
watching them, and yeah, short.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Throws to Ashton gents. He was one of the few
things that worked.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
We're gonna see a teardown, right Like it feels that way.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
Yeah. I think it starts with them strongly suggesting to
Pete Carroll that maybe he go back to retirement. You know,
they've they've fired they've fired their but their offensive coordinator.
Think they fired their defensive coordinator earlier in the year. Yeah,
this thing is gonna have to just be torn down
and rebuilt from the bottom up because rematch. Yeah, I
(11:28):
mean that might have to be part of it. I mean,
at some point he's he's not you know, he's not
the key to to really turn around what you're doing there.
And I don't know how much longer he's gonna want
to be there in this situation.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
It's it's all bad.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
He just signed a deal, didn't he. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
I don't know if you him and Miles Garrett man like,
they chose to ride out their careers with bad teams.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
They chose money, money over wins. Baby. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
I mean, you know, I think at some point, if
you're the Raiders, I don't know, there's there's value there.
Why not try to get some draft picks or something
back or something for him?
Speaker 4 (12:05):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
Last night at Sofi Stadium, the Rams completely dominated the Buccaneers.
That praise is that sufficient enough praise for you? I
just need, I just need. I need your mentals to
stay straight for the remainder of the show.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
So why is the next thing? Marcus is gonna?
Speaker 1 (12:22):
Baker Mayfield along the way suffered a shoulder injury. I
expected to have an MRI sometime on Monday. The fear
is a sprained ac joint. We saw Teddy two Gloves
step in there, Teddy Bridgewater and finish things out for
the Buccaneers.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
Solque. I mean, if it is.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
Teddy Bridgewater, which very well could be likely, does that
mean it's curtains for a Mecca Buca, Chris Godwin, those guys,
Tess Johnson at this point.
Speaker 4 (12:49):
For a bit, Like I'm very hesitant in like looking
at like Chris Godwin, you know, coming back from injury,
we didn't see much from him in this game. I think,
you know, a mecha Buka. He remains a start for
a lot of folks if you don't have any other options.
I like Teddy two Gloves, like, regardless of the you know,
the fuzzy history between him and the Rams and stuff
like that. If you know, you know, I think that
you know Teddy. He just hasn't really played as a
(13:12):
starter in so long that we're gonna be able to
get like a revive of a Joe Flack or Davis Mills,
Like this is not that situation whatsoever, Folks Like, I
think Teddy two Glove is going to go in there
and do his absolute best. I think the next couple
games coming up, I know the Cardinals defense, they've made
some adjustments, they looked a lot better. I might want
to get away from Chris Godwin. I'm not sure Bucky
(13:33):
Irvin coming back even helps this offense if they're not
going to be able to throw the ball. I mean, honestly,
looking at Teddy two Gloves for the next couple of
weeks with his aces brain or whatever it is for Baker,
you kind of have to just pivot to other options here.
I don't have high expectations for those guys. Whatsoever?
Speaker 2 (13:48):
Is this a veiled LaMarcus Joyner reference? At what that was?
Speaker 4 (13:52):
Geez? Come on, bro, you know you know?
Speaker 1 (13:53):
But yeah, I mean, look, there are people out there
who don't know who are probably like what.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
I'm talking about.
Speaker 4 (13:59):
Go look it up.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
You know, you just throw shadow references. I mean, you
get people information.
Speaker 4 (14:05):
I wasn't too happy with that hit man because, like again,
like you don't want to see your guys get smashed
like that, especially like Teddy Too Glove, like he's one
of the good ones out there.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
Man. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
Uh So, anyway, the Bucks offense has really been struggling.
I mean, last night they were they were bad. Uh,
you know, the Rams shut him down. But also they've
kind of been on the struggle bus for a few
weeks now too, So uh, this is not gonna help
things to Higgins. Flora left the game with a concussion
on Sunday, no surprise, He's already been ruled out with
it being a short week. Uh, you know, it seemed
(14:37):
pretty likely that he was not going to play. I
guess the good news is Jamar Chase should be back,
you know, providing he does not expect to rate on
anyone else between.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
Now and Thursday evening.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
Joe Burrow expected to play as well, Burrow back, Chase back,
but no, T Higgins. Can we maybe throw Andre Yoshivas
into some lineups somewhere if you're.
Speaker 3 (15:05):
In need, But there's no buys this week, so you
likely have a better option because look, I'm playing Joe Burrow.
Speaker 4 (15:14):
If he plays, I'm playing. Obviously you're playing Jamar Chase.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
But even this past I know it wasn't Burrow, but
like Yosi Vas was, he was solid, you know, like
I think in a half people and he gave you
something around ten points. You know who I think is
even in my opinion I like even more this week,
Mitchell Tinsley. I think he can come in and be
the t Higgins the outside, the X guy man. He
(15:39):
went up and caught went over Christian Gonzales and then
stared him down And I was like, that is alpha
water receiver one type behavior. Yeah, let's not forget Tinsley
balled out in preseason and that's how he made the roster.
Speaker 4 (15:53):
To begin with.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
So when Browning, yes, like I think Tinsley is uh,
the floor is probably a little bit safer for h Andre,
but I think Tinsley is the But again, these are
both if you're going deeper because there's no buys this week,
which is huge, so you should have your full allotment
of receivers available.
Speaker 4 (16:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
Side notes to that there are no buys this week,
there are buys next week when people are really fighting to.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
Make the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
You know, maybe we should have had some four team
by weeks instead of a couple of two team.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
By weeks, and maybe we could have solved this problem.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
You know what do I know? I just talk about
fake football for a living.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
Lakau and Alvin Kamara leaves the game yesterday with a
knee injury. He was out in the second half. This week,
the Saints have the Miami Dolphins, who, for all their improvement.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
Still stink against the run again, no buys.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
So let's let's let's say this is like a DFS thing,
or you play in some insane twenty team league or
something like that. Would you trust Devin Neil in at
least what's on paper a good situation.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
Yeah, if the situation looks good. I mean, Miami, we
know they stink against the run. But I think Devin
Neal running thirty two routes likely yesterday looks amazing for
a guy in PPR formats because Tyler Schuck is gonna
check that ball down like he still has that identity
or role of album Kamara. So if he's gonna be
running that many routes and have that opportunity to catch
a couple of passes, why not. I honestly think as
(17:13):
a runner, though I'm a little hesitant, he has like
a lot of hesitation in his pace in terms of
hitting the line, not great yards before contact. I do
think that, you know, as he gets more reps as
the guy, maybe as the weeks to progress on and
on that we'll start seeing some life from him in
between the tackles, outside zones, scheme whatever they want to
run it. But I think Devin Neil and those deeper,
deep cut leads. I'm talking like down bad, like bro,
(17:36):
I ain't got nobody else out there. I understand if
you're picking him up and trying to just get something
going and put him in there against the Miami Dolphins.
Speaker 5 (17:45):
It's tayso Sometime baby yesterday that I will never praise
that man. Get him off of the team. No, why
is it?
Speaker 1 (17:57):
How is it that this is endured? This is the
third different coach, This is the third coach now, I'm
don't even do the you know, the inglorious bastards.
Speaker 4 (18:06):
Three three coaches, right?
Speaker 1 (18:09):
It went from Sean Payton to Dennis Allen and now
Keillan Moore has been like what sort of sway, what
sort of Jedi mind powers does Tasom Hill have over
this organization that at thirty five years old, coming off
ACL surgery, he played like twenty four to twenty five snaps,
had ten rushing attempts, led the team in rushing attempts
(18:29):
yesterday through through two passes. Why why is this still happening?
I don't understand.
Speaker 3 (18:37):
I think at this point they probably view him as
their best power runner and they were using him a
lot near the goal line. So the reason I'm in
on Taysom Hill is we talk about it a lot.
Speaker 4 (18:50):
The bar for success at tight end is so much
lower than other position.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
If he gets a rushing touchdown against Miami, he will
be probably a top twelve tight end next week. So
if that look, I no buys. I don't want to
throw Devin Neil in one of my two RB spots.
But if I'm streaming tight ends, which I have to
in a lot of leagues because I have injuries, I
might take a chance on Taysom.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
The wild part.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
Of this is and I'm still I'm filibustering, so I'm
trying to figure something out. So I think according to
the Saints roster, isn't he a quarterback? Yeah, which means,
at least according to the conventions of NFL dot Com
fantasy leagues, he should be a quarterback. He should not
(19:34):
be tight end eligible. And I don't want like, I
think we're past the point where people are gonna, like,
you know, text us or d MS or whatever and
like want these switcheses.
Speaker 4 (19:43):
Nobody wants. Nobody really wants the fantass anymore.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
I'm I'm here to tell you he's still listened as
a tight end on the honor.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
Rat That's terrible.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
That's terrible.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
We need to we need to callies. We got to
call the authorities on this one. Like I'm not I'm
usually not about I'm not about dry snitching or anything
like that. But in this situation, I feel like we
can make an exception.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
We can't. This nonsense cannot stand.
Speaker 3 (20:08):
I don't think he should be a quarterback, like he
played more as a running back, right, Like he threw
two passes, but he also ran five round like he is.
Speaker 4 (20:19):
A flex That's what he should be.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
We need to just save people from themselves, right, don't
even get people the option. Don't even tempt people with that, right,
Like don't you know it's like putting the ball in
front of a diabetic, Like, don't do this.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
Don't people like that? Would you just oh my god.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
Look what you just I'm not saying to start him
like no questions asked. But again, like I have a
league where I lost Sam Laporta and the waiver wire
is thin and I'm streaming week to week, I might
just throw a dart on Tasum in that situation.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
Olia, I love you and I want better for you.
Speaker 4 (20:52):
I didn't really work out, but I would. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
I just feel like I would take my chance to
the A. J. Barner over tays him.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
I would hate when you have the m v P, Jsen.
I mean, he's not going to get any targets.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
I mean that's true, That's that's a fair point though. Actually, yeah,
because when the m v P has taken all the oxygen,
God's ears, I know, right, I mean, law, I'm glad
you admitted it, so it's cool.
Speaker 4 (21:17):
We need to clip that. Don't don't say.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
This is the most we've had in a while.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
Anyway, that's been a news before we take a break
and catch our breath and get our faculties back.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
Uh lakwan. Aaron Rodgers expects to play.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
I know he was telling everybody he expected to play
this week, even if we didn't really believe it, but
both he and the team expected he's.
Speaker 4 (21:42):
Going to play next week against the Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
I know DK Metcalf left the game banged up, but
I think they are expecting that he should be okay
and good to go. Doesn't even matter anymore, I mean,
it doesn't matter the Steelers.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
No, like I think, like you can honestly entertain gain
will warn DK Metcalf based on the matchup, But with
him banged up, who knows but Aaron Rodgers himself. No,
I don't see this making a difference. I mean, who
did they got this with the Bills? I mean florio,
I mean, what do you expect out of Aaron Rodgers?
You ain't fearful, You ain't like, oh well, we might
(22:15):
take a l to the elite quarterback MVP super Bowl
winning Aaron Rodgers. No, I mean like he's not moving
the leader for anybody, like even for fantasy. Like at
one point he showed a stability to be a low
wing QB one, But now what we've seen these last
couple of weeks with him banged up and with the wrists,
it's like it's a dumb We got like four weeks
left for some fantasy rosters that go into the playoffs,
(22:36):
Like you've run into the playoffs with Aaron Rodgers. I
don't know. I'm not I don't have any rosters with him,
to be honest, but rosters with him, they probably not
even sniffing the playoffs with him if he's your QB one.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
I think it's The argument is Rudolph might be better
for your pass catchers than Aaron at least for DK metcalf.
Speaker 4 (22:55):
I could say that too. I think Mason Rudolph, like,
going into this week, I was hesitation because honestly, I
was like, we know who's on the sticks. It's Arthur Smith.
So it's like the offense and system is going to
be based on him, like you know, like it's going
to be a low pass volume, heavy run kind of
what we saw. Honestly, But I do think Mason Rudolph
to give us a little bit more because Anon Rodgers
ain't moving in that pocket, like he ain't doing what
(23:16):
he used to do anymore. Like give us Mason Rudolf
fighting for a job next year?
Speaker 2 (23:19):
Who cares?
Speaker 4 (23:20):
I mean, I.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
Guess I think again, I think the idea of Mason
Rudolph this like idea that he's going to push the
ball downfield. I don't think it matches up with reality.
Speaker 4 (23:29):
Like yesterday he.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
Had less than six air yards per attempt. This offense
is boring aside from aside from like Darnell Washington occasionally
steamrolling a defensive back like there's just nothing here that
I care about at all.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
I think it goes back to what Cam was saying
the other day that like there's just with Rogers, even
though the talent might not be much better, Like there's
that mental thing that like it's easier for the Steelers
players to get amped up and to feel like they
could compete and stuff.
Speaker 4 (23:58):
That's probably it. He could pain pretty picture in and
the paint is do doo. That's what That's what the
campus is getting right now. Like, come on, bro, this
often sucks.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
Speaking of which, Sharley.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
Browns I just saw then that to Shuder Sanders is
gonna be their starting quarterback. Four week thirteen, they are
at home against the forty nine Ers. We can talk
about Shudur a little bit later. I don't wantally want
to get like, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
He was fine.
Speaker 4 (24:26):
He wasn't. It's okay, all right, man, Kevins the fancy
is not a fan.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
But it was fine. I mean it's fine. Like he
had the one deep shot to Isaiah Bond that was
a nice throw. Everything else was like within five yards
of the line of scrimmage, and you know, the Raiders
decided to not tackle Dylan Sampson and he went for
a long touchdown run.
Speaker 4 (24:47):
Was fine.
Speaker 2 (24:48):
It was fine.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
Like I guess if you don't like him, then you know,
you take that, you pick it apart. If you like him,
you take that and use its your advantage. I think
I'm sort of neutral on Shuduur and so it was
just what it was.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
I just think he's got more upside than get And
I thought this since February of last year when I
started watching them. You know, like I've never was a
Dylan Gabriel believer.
Speaker 4 (25:09):
Just just look at the fans reacting to anything he
did yesterday, right like you got the kids in the
stands and the Browns jersey throwing the ris like it's
time bro. Like like I'm like, I have nothing against
Dylan Gabriel, but I was like, when are we going
to pull the plug on this? Like we've seen that
for so many weeks where it was just like what
are you seeing that you think is going to be
the future of this franchise? Like obviously Shredor can distract
(25:32):
all the bad plays just with his aura. You have
kids in going like this with the watch. I'm telling
you they were so excited to see him get that
shine and make those plays what plays he did make,
But looking at what the audience was watching, Like you
have to entertain at the end of the day, nobody's
paying a ticket to watch Dylan Gabriel.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
There's nothing entertaining about watching. But there was nothing entertaining
about watching that, Like it was a bunch of it.
Speaker 4 (25:59):
Was it was.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
It was the same thing Mason Rudolph was doing, but
it just didn't have a gimmicky celebration, like.
Speaker 4 (26:05):
What was exactly about it? And you talk about the fans,
you talk about the fans, I.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
Mean, like that's like when you talk about like the
kids getting excited. All I thought was Johnny Manziel. I
just thought about the Johnny Manziel money.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
Rather Manziel than something.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
No, yeah, actually actually actually I would I would rather.
Speaker 4 (26:22):
Have Johnny Manziel.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
Everything you said about like it was one long pass, Well,
Gabriel is everything, but without that long pass, you know
what I mean, And he can't move he doesn't have
the arm to throw down.
Speaker 4 (26:34):
Field like but still the other thing is like this was.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
And Sanders was very vocal on this, which I actually,
I know the Browns hated, but I liked for him,
Like this was his first week of reps with the
Ones all year and he put up numbers that Gabriel
hasn't been able to put up. Like again, it's the
Browns were not getting excited for fantasy or anything like that.
But from a viewer, I'm much more interested the Browns
(27:00):
now than I was a week ago.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
So I'll leave you with this because this is going
to be the last time we talked about Sans this week.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
I try to make that a point.
Speaker 4 (27:08):
No, he's a sneaky start this week against those whiners.
Let's go.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
The last thing I'm going to say about this is
my wife is a shuld dour Sanders supporter. She has
been for the last couple of years, and so she says, hey,
can you can you put on the Browns game?
Speaker 2 (27:26):
Yeah? Sure, whatever, I turn it on.
Speaker 4 (27:28):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
Several minutes later she says, oh, both of these teams
are bad. Huh yeah, yes, yes.
Speaker 4 (27:35):
Very much so they are.
Speaker 1 (27:37):
But this is a much longer opening block than I
extended it to be, where it's take a breaker to
come back. We get some fantasy playoffs stashes also got
some waiver wire stuff coming up a little bit later.
Stick around for more of this very unhinged edition of
the NFL Fantasy Football Podcast. So we are a couple
of weeks away from the start of the Fantasy playoffs
in most leagues, so at this point, you know the
(27:58):
trade deadlines have passed. Of course, you can still go
out and make waiver wire claims to this point. So
maybe some guys that are out there on the waiver
wire that you may want to hold on to. This
doesn't mean you're automatically starting them, but in case you
have some of the matchups, or you have matchups that
you don't like, maybe these are some other options for you.
So quarterback, running back, receiver, tight end QB. I was
(28:23):
le I'm very surprised to see this name that you
dropped in here for the quarterback position. I open the
floor to you. It's William Trevor Lawrence. Okay, William, because
he's no longer Trevor mid Lawrence. He's no longer Trevor.
We are not giving him cool names. He probably thought
back in the day Trevor was cool for him. No,
we're not giving you cool points. But I will say this,
(28:44):
he's a stash for the Fantasy playoffs. He is a
QB two with high end QB two upside being that
he's using his legs my boy has eight touchdowns in
the last four games. The fact that he is being selfish.
I say selfish because he doesn't benefit any of the
other pass catchers unless Breton Strange. But I do think
that Trevor mid Lawrence or I'm sorry, William Lawrence has
(29:06):
upside to be a stability of going into the Fantasy playoffs,
like him using his legs is giving him the rushing
upside that we love for MICHAELA.
Speaker 4 (29:13):
Williams about Nicks, etcetera, etcetera. He's not Josh Allen Juck
justin fields, etcetera, etcetera. But he's right there on the
cuff of where like, hey, I can get rushing upside
out of him, where he can get sixteen to eighteen
Fantasy points, which is fine. You don't want to be
sitting here with the likes of Aaron Rodgers or even
a Oh my god, I don't know how many people
are still rostering Joe Flapple. But the magic is gone.
Joe Burrow is going back, you know what I mean?
(29:35):
And Marcus, you can let that go. Yeah. I was like, damn, Joe,
this is what we're doing. That's how we play now,
all right. But when you're looking at the Marcus Mariotas
of the world and all those quarterbacks that are bottom
tier that I feel, unfortunately to say comfortable picking up Trevor.
I mean, god, I keep doing it William for the
rest of the season as a TV two to stash.
Speaker 1 (29:59):
William Lawrence sounds like a financial advisor.
Speaker 4 (30:03):
Yeah, he probably got picked on it. They probably call it.
Speaker 1 (30:05):
Will Lawrence seems like a cool dude, though, you know,
if he's want to be Will Lawrence that you.
Speaker 4 (30:10):
Know, probably a good person man, but football is not
his gig.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
Will Lawrence I'd hang out with for sure. FLORYA who's
your quarterback Fantasy playoffs stash.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
One that I think should have been picked up a
while ago. He's been a start for four weeks in
a row. Now it's Jacoby Brissett, who is still just
thirty five percent rostered. And I know in a lot
of my leagues people were picking him up just for
the week because.
Speaker 4 (30:34):
Of buys or injuries or whatever.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
So I wouldn't be surprised if, with no teams on
buy this week, if he.
Speaker 4 (30:39):
Gets thrown back out there.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
And I will say he's coming off his worst loss
of this worst fantasy performance of the season where he
only gave you eighteen point seven Fantasy oones like he is,
he should not be out there, and then he gets
the Bucks this week. I think you could just straight
up play him if you're in knee, I would send him.
The two weeks after that, he gets the Rams and
(31:02):
the Texans, showing your Rams some respect. But then he
gets the Falcons, who, despite starting the year really hot,
have been lit up through the air lately, and then
Championship Week the Cincinnati Bengals.
Speaker 4 (31:15):
So yeah, even if you have.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
A quarterback that you like, just have Jacoby on your
bench just in case, or maybe you don't love your
matchups late in the year, something like that, because if
he's starting week seventeen, he's gonna win some people some championships.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
I do some stuff with a really smart, fun guy
named Gene Clemens, and he coined the phrase that I
think we should all adopt Jacoby briset it and forget it.
Speaker 4 (31:40):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
Yes, Jacoby preset it and forget it.
Speaker 4 (31:44):
Do you think folks are still out there thinking that
Kyler Murray's coming back and that's why his rostership is
so low, Like, why is he only rostered in thirty
two percent of the leagues. That's insane.
Speaker 2 (31:53):
Well, I think, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (31:55):
I think it's the point where it's a stigma. But
it's also like you get to some point where you're
in a league and either you have a quarterback you
like or your team stinks and you're probably not really
paying full attention, so you're not really adding him off
the waiver wire. I don't I don't know. I'm trying
to come up with reasons.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
I don't have any.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
It's also not pretty when you watch him all Like yesterday,
he didn't play particularly well, but yeah, they're in ketchup
mode very often, so he finishes with good Fantasy points.
Speaker 2 (32:21):
That is true.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
This is one I didn't think we'd be saying a
few weeks ago, but to a tongue of maloa should.
Speaker 2 (32:27):
Be picked up in at it.
Speaker 1 (32:28):
And again, I'm not going to sit here and tell
you that he's going to be a guy that you're
starting every single week. But the Dolphins have started playing better, right,
They've put together a couple of wins in a row.
I mentioned this, I think it mentioned on the show
last week, right, that there is a good chance coming
out of the buy that they could run the table
the rest of the way, an end at ten and
(32:49):
seven maybe be a playoff team. But you look at
their fantasy playoff schedule. They've got the Steelers on the road,
which you know, we know how Tua is and the
Colds that might not be great, particularly.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
But at the Steelers at home.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
Against the Bengals and at home against the Bucks, that's
a very workable schedule for Tua, you know, especially if
he's just throwing dump offs to Devon a Chan and
letting him do the rest. Jalen Waddle has become a
big thing. Darren Waller is going to be coming back
at some point really soon too, So there are reasons
there to be excited. And for all the struggles that
(33:24):
the Dolphins have had, Mike McDaniel can still draw up
an offense.
Speaker 4 (33:28):
You know, the rest of it.
Speaker 1 (33:29):
You might you might want to argue with you can
you can quibble over the rest of it.
Speaker 2 (33:32):
He can still draw up an offense.
Speaker 1 (33:33):
So yeah, to oh, speaking of quarterbacks, and this this
just came across my timeline as we were talking. Kevin
O'Connell says JJ McCarthy is in concussion protocol. McCarthy reported
some symptoms as the Vikings came home last night.
Speaker 4 (33:49):
So remember had a concussion for like to the last
five weeks with.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
So it's just something to keep an eye on. We'll
see maybe Max Brosmer is it Brosmer Brosmer could be
the guy that gets the start. Next week, we.
Speaker 4 (34:03):
Shall throw the ball to Justin Jefferson.
Speaker 1 (34:06):
We shall see running back playoff stash. I guess let's
keep the dolphin theme.
Speaker 2 (34:12):
Rolling here, ELQ. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (34:14):
I like Ali Gordon man. The last we've seen him
was against the Washington Commanders, and I liked everything I
saw from with the limited touches, I mean, it looks
like he got some juice. I mean honestly, nine touches
and six of those touches were in striking distance, so
valuable touches that he has on the table for him.
And I think, honestly, when you're looking at Devon h Chan,
he has the fifth highest stuff free in the red zone.
(34:34):
So I do think when you insert Oli Gordon to
kind of throw off the defenses as a one to
two punch, that you can roll Oli Gordon Devon Chan.
I think for the fantasy playoffs, I want all the
running backs that are going to be able to be
put in striking distance the same way we look at
Tyler Aljeer as Zach Charbonnet. We could start pushing and
nudging Oli Gordon into that conversation, being that he had
(34:55):
a season high of snaps the last time we saw
him and just having that buy I'm pretty sure some
foot with the bye, we just threw him to the
waiver wire and not really thinking about picking him back up.
So he's sneaking under the radars, a guy that I
think is going to be getting more opportunities as the
Dolphins move forward.
Speaker 1 (35:09):
Yeah, I like that too, Floya, You're so Sean Tucker.
I'm stealing your thunder a little bit. But you're not
worried about Bucky Irving at all.
Speaker 3 (35:18):
Well, I am, But even when Bucky was at his
best last year, Rashad White still played a part in
this offense.
Speaker 4 (35:26):
And that's what I'm kind of thinking Sean Tucker could be.
Speaker 3 (35:29):
He could be the guy who gets like eight to
twelve touches as like the change of pays. But he's
been I know he struggled Sunday night against the Rams,
but he is by far their most explosive runner, and
that might include Bucky, Like we have to see what
Bucky looks like when he comes back. But Bucky was
averaging just over three yards per carry before he got hurt.
(35:49):
And then you look at this schedule. He gets to
Cardinals next week and then the Saints. Those are two
favoral matchups. But in the playoffs, the Falcons, the Panthers,
and the Dolphins so limited touches. He could be someone
that you're putting into your flex option and it only
takes one or two big plays for him to come
through in fantasy. So I think a lot of people
(36:10):
are probably going to throw Tucker back.
Speaker 4 (36:13):
Because he had a down game this week.
Speaker 3 (36:15):
They're like, Bucky's coming back, Baker's hurt, And if that
is the case, I would be looking to add him
and get him on your bench even if you don't
need him, Like what if one of your running backs
get hurt or something like that. He is someone that
you could plug in in one of these matchups and
they could potentially come through in a big way.
Speaker 2 (36:30):
Yeah, and you watch it, even though he didn't.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
Have a good game last night, you see the burst,
Like when he gets the ball in his hands, you
can see the explosiveness there definitely more than you see
from a show.
Speaker 4 (36:41):
I thought he was going to break one off. I
thought he was going to break off one a couple
or two because honestly, like when you see him get
the ball, it's a night and day experience. With Rashad
White and Shot Tucker for sure, it's like they know
what they're doing now.
Speaker 1 (36:54):
Similar to that, I mean, I think Brian Robbinson is
the guy that should be added across leagues. I mean,
obviously there's the obvious of if something were to happen
to Christian McCaffrey, then he steps into a really big workload,
but also watching the way he's started to fit into
the offense.
Speaker 2 (37:10):
Lately, running hard.
Speaker 1 (37:12):
I know he had the angry run a couple of
weeks ago. He's at a point now where the Niners
feel confident giving him a few extra snaps just so
that they can rest McCaffrey.
Speaker 2 (37:23):
So it's not like a huge workload.
Speaker 1 (37:25):
Right, I Mean, we know who the RB one is
in San Francisco when he's healthy, but it is getting
to a point where they feel confident giving Robinson, you know,
a drive here or there, like one maybe late in
the first half, maybe one sort of mid of the
second half, just giving him that opportunity to get the
ball in his hands, give McCaffrey a chance to rest,
and when they get down near the goal line, he
does sort of turn it up a notch, like he
(37:47):
does have that nose for the end zone and he
can sense it, and so when they get close, you
know that touchdown upside sort of comes into play a
little bit.
Speaker 4 (37:54):
But again it's.
Speaker 1 (37:55):
Another situation where if nothing else, especially if you have
Christian McCaffrey, you definitely wantan Robinson. But even if you don't,
maybe just to get him away from the hands of
the McCaffrey manager a little bit and give yourself some
insurance there in the backfield heading to the postseason.
Speaker 4 (38:11):
Over wide receivers LQ like I like Jaden Higgins Man,
and he's a rookie and he's coming along the back
end of the season.
Speaker 3 (38:18):
Man.
Speaker 4 (38:18):
If you look at his last three games, Man, he
is getting targeted on thirty one percent of his routes.
That is an elite tier. That's the sixth highest in
that span within the last three games. So obviously every
route that he is running has value in it. I
know Davis Mills has been really the spark the last
couple of weeks for Nico Collins and the Jaden Higgins.
But I think even with c J. Stroud coming back,
(38:38):
we still should see a lot of Jaden Higgins. Man
seven plus targets in the last four of his five games.
This guy is starting to get elite viueme in elite opportunities.
Being that, hey, Nico Collins, he doesn't have the best
history of like having like a good health record. So
I think if he gets banged up at any point
and you're sitting in the playoffs, you're sitting with a
guy that's possibly the number one wide receiver. I know
(38:59):
Chris kirkus there and no Jalen Knowle is there, But
I think Higgins has been stepping out, showing up and
showing out a lot brighter than the other guys in
that wide receiver room outside of Nico Collins.
Speaker 2 (39:09):
All Right, so we.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
Got some life down in Houston, Lauria. Yesterday you asked
us whether you should sit Wandale Robinson or Darius Slayton.
I will tell you that I made a poor choice
when I told you to sit Wandale, and thankfully, for
my sake, you didn't listen to me.
Speaker 3 (39:24):
I didn't last minute put Slayton in for Darnaul Mooney
because those were the three I was debating.
Speaker 4 (39:28):
And that one didn't work out.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
I had Wan Dell in, and I know he's pretty
highly rostered at this point. If you're in like a
ten team league, he might be out there. But I
do have a couple of leagues where the trade deadline
hasn't passed yet. I don't think it's a bad idea
to try to get wand Dell on your team, and
I think Darius Slayton is someone you could throw a
dart on right now as well.
Speaker 4 (39:49):
They get the Patriots and.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
The Commanders their final two games before the Fantasy Playoffs,
which are both plus matchups, especially the Commanders, but then
in the playoffs they get the Vikings, the Raiders, and
the Cowboys.
Speaker 4 (40:00):
Like you're not afraid of.
Speaker 3 (40:02):
Any of those defenses, especially if Jackson Dart is back.
So I think there's the Giants are gonna have to
throw a lot. Their running game is is what it
is at this point, and they could at least in
a couple of those games they could be trailing.
Speaker 4 (40:14):
They actually could win two of those three games too.
Speaker 2 (40:16):
Now they think about it.
Speaker 3 (40:17):
But just the way that the offense seems to be
clicking right now. I really believe in Dart and Wandell
is showing out in a big way. So yeah, I
think these are guys that you want on your roster.
Speaker 1 (40:28):
Yeah yeah, look, man, I would vote for keeping Jamison there.
Speaker 4 (40:32):
Just here's the thing, James.
Speaker 1 (40:36):
So this is sort of that thing we talked about
with like the Colts, right, like the whole Daniel Jones
Anthony Richardson thing.
Speaker 4 (40:43):
Right, Like Anthony Richardson.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
Is the guy you want because you want quarterback stats.
I think that's Jackson Dart because he's gonna run, He's
gonna score those rushing touchdowns.
Speaker 4 (40:50):
Jameis Winston is the guy that helps.
Speaker 1 (40:52):
Your wide receivers because he's just gonna sling the ball
and apparently catch the ball too. Whoever that Lions defender was,
he probably should have to retire now because you you
gave up a catch like on a on an inadvertent
back shoulder throw.
Speaker 4 (41:09):
It wasn't the real back shoulder throw. It was just
poorly thrown and.
Speaker 1 (41:12):
Jamison had to slow down and stop and then he
breaks the tackle and shakes you to the end zone.
Speaker 4 (41:17):
That's probably sixty.
Speaker 3 (41:18):
Wait, they have a I misread so their playoffs are
Commander's Vikings Raiders.
Speaker 4 (41:22):
I misread it.
Speaker 3 (41:23):
It is okay, a fantastic playoff at which go grab
the Giants defense.
Speaker 4 (41:27):
Now too, those are all you could shoot against, all
three of those.
Speaker 1 (41:31):
That's a good call, good call on that. So I
have Test Johnson here now. Obviously depending on the seriousness
of Baker's injury.
Speaker 4 (41:40):
That could change.
Speaker 1 (41:41):
But I think when you sort of look at this
offense and with no Mike Evans, Chris Godwin is back,
but I think he's still working his way back into shape,
that means a lot more attention is going to a
Mecca Abuka and Tess. Johnson is finding opportunities. I mean,
we saw it early in that game last night that
they were getting him the ball. He caught the touchdown
pass from Baker in the first half. But he's starting
(42:04):
to get more looks and I think that goes a
long way when you're talking about this offense and where
they're going. Because I said earlier this has not been
the same offense the last month that it was early
in the season, but not a bad playoff schedule. They've
got the Falcons at the Panthers.
Speaker 2 (42:22):
Which could be difficult.
Speaker 1 (42:23):
It really could mean a lot for the division depending
on how these next couple of weeks ages, and then
at Miami to end things.
Speaker 2 (42:28):
So there are some opportunities there.
Speaker 1 (42:31):
But I think more than anything, I think volume and
just somebody you can throw in a flex in a pinch,
and I think Tesz Johnson sort of fits that category
right now. Finally, tight ends and LaQuan Yeah, I love
how you book into this with Jaguars.
Speaker 4 (42:46):
Started with Jaguars here. It just happened that way. But
Brent Strains was amazing man, and like I was one
of the few folks that picked him up when he
was on the waiver wire for all the injuries, and
I think a lot of folks forgot about him with
the constant rotation of tight ends that we were popping
on and off the waiver wire. And I think him
coming in and making a statement game one ninety three yards,
(43:06):
my boy came in and showed up and showed out.
And earlier in this season we saw there was flashes
where he can hold a twenty percent target share. He
can have all the volume in the red zone as well,
where there's touchdown upside with Trevor mid Lawrence, and I
think at the end of the day, when you look
at the tight end position, all we want is ten
Fantasy points, and I think he can give you that stability,
being that we've seen this offense a support or tight
(43:28):
end like cadad and with Liam Cohen and b we
saw it with Evan Ingram when he was there with
Trevor mid Lawrence, so there's obviously familiarity there with the
position and the quarterback. So I think in the playoffs, man,
if you were looking for stability at the tight end position,
I promise you he's probably on your waiver wire right now.
Speaker 1 (43:44):
All right, Laurya, would you like to change this name
to Taysom Hill instead of what you do have currently?
Speaker 4 (43:49):
No, because that's a one week thing for Taysom.
Speaker 3 (43:54):
In the league that I referenced where I lost Sam Laporta,
I started Aj Barner and then on Saturday night I
picked up Brenton Strange. I think I'm just riding out
with these two throughout the Fantasy playoffs. But Aj Barner,
I know this past week he disappointed, only gave you
less than three Fantasy points, but more often than not,
he had look. Jaya Sen is a one man MVP
(44:17):
wrecking crew, but more often than not, the number two target,
especially in the red zone is AJ Barner. And then
their schedule their final three playoff games, Fantasy Playoff games.
Speaker 4 (44:29):
The Colts, the Rams.
Speaker 3 (44:30):
The Panthers. The Colts and Panthers are both in the
top six and fantasy points per game against tight ends
and LQ as good as your Rams have been in
the last month, they kind of look like their old
sales when it comes to tight ends. They're in the
top two and fantasy points allowed. So it's it's just
a matchup base thing here. But he has three plus
(44:51):
matchups in the Fantasy playoffs, So to me, that's enough
to be in the streaming category.
Speaker 1 (44:56):
Yeah, I mean, I have no problem streaming AJ Barner.
I mean I think you know, the Seahawks have been
trying to find other alternatives to JSN. I mean, he's
still going to get you know, I think he's getting
like almost forty percent of the target something like that
right now.
Speaker 2 (45:09):
That's not going to change a lot, but I think they.
Speaker 1 (45:11):
Want to find somewhere else to go, right Cooper Cup
and it's kind of been I think what we expected.
You know, Rashid Shied still has not made an impact
since he's got to Seattle.
Speaker 2 (45:21):
So Aj Barner come on down. I think that's what
it is. Line's Darren Waller, and I know he's not
back yet.
Speaker 1 (45:26):
I think this week would be the soonest he could
come back if they decide to open up his practice
window and get him back involved again. But he will
come back before the season is over. They have said
that very confidently. And I know he wasn't on the
field a lot. He wasn't getting a lot of routes,
but when he was on the field, they were using him,
and especially near the end zone. I mean, he just
(45:47):
gives them a big end zone target that they don't
have otherwise. And to what was taking advantage of that?
And so we know how this works. If you're tied end,
if you catch a touchdown. I got to catch a
touchdown and you had a pretty good shot of being
a top ten tight end for the week, right, I
mean you can be at a rank And I a
couple years ago had Kimba with the term the seven
point one guys, right, those guys who catch one catch
(46:10):
for one yard in the touchdown seven point one PPR
points like he can do that in Vinco, So he's
absolutely worth having on your roster, maybe playing when the
matchup is right. If you're streaming tight ends, Darren Waller
is a guy who could sneakily pay some dividends for
you down the stretch.
Speaker 4 (46:27):
So all right, I'm take one more break. Come back.
Speaker 1 (46:30):
We're gonna talk some drop zone talk, some waiver wire stuff,
getting you ready for Lucky Week thirteen. That's coming up
next on the NFL Fantasy Football Podcast. The National Football
League continues to honor and commemorate the late John Madden
with the fourth annual John Madden Thanksgiving Celebration on Thursday,
November twenty seventh. Madden once said there's no place that
(46:52):
I would rather be today on Thanksgiving than right here,
right now at a football game, and the John Madden
Thanksgiving Celebration brings together all the things that were important
to him family, football, food, tradition, and fun. So two
then on Thursday, while you take down your turkey and stuffing,
The Green Bay Packers play the Detroit Lions at one
pm Eastern on Fox. The Kansas City Chiefs battle the
(47:13):
Dallas Cowboys at four thirty pm. Eastern on CBS, and
the Cincinnati Bengals take on the Baltimore Ravens at eight
twenty pm Eastern on NBC. Enjoy the games and have
a happy Thanksgiving. Time to channel Wesley Snipes and head
to the drop zone. Guys that we are saying goodbye
to on our fantasy rosters. I see the name you
have here, and I'm wondering, will it change if this
(47:38):
guy's starting quarterback is out for an extended period of time.
Speaker 4 (47:42):
No, get him off the roster. I'm done, bro, He's
called like, I mean, we've given him so many chances.
I think this is not the first time. It's not
the first time DJ Hockinson has been on this list.
Like it's one of those things where it's like you
are hopeful because we hold on to what he did
in the past. We know what he's capable of. But
it's just not the situation he's in right now. Only
(48:04):
two games over ten fantasy points this season. This guy
is not being a top priority target in this offense
with JJ McCarty, Carson Wentz. It doesn't matter who it
is who's going to be back there. This offense is
not clicking. There's problems at the offensive line. There's obviously
a need and focus to get the ball to Justin Jefferson. TJ.
Hockinson is not on the total POMA as a guy
that I think is going to see much by him.
(48:25):
So heading into the fantasy playoffs, if you were going
into the fantasy playoffs, you need to make pivot options
right now at the tight end position because TJ. Hockinson
ain't it. I'm looking at his game logs here.
Speaker 1 (48:36):
He had a game where he caught a touchdown and
still didn't score ten fantasy points.
Speaker 4 (48:39):
Yike, it was a long stretch. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (48:42):
He still might not have where he didn't top fifteen
yards with JJ McCarthy.
Speaker 4 (48:46):
Uh no, he has one.
Speaker 2 (48:47):
He had one game with thirty nine yards.
Speaker 4 (48:49):
I say that was the game I had hope, but
I was like, no, he is toasted.
Speaker 1 (48:54):
You have thirty nine yards in a game a couple
of weeks ago against the Bears with.
Speaker 4 (48:58):
The eighteen percent target share, It's like they were throwing
the ball, but it's just it wasn't valuable. I thought
about this yesterday too.
Speaker 1 (49:06):
And I'll get to you in a second, Floria, But
I think there's a conversation to kind of be had
in the offseason about whether or not it makes sense
to be super wide receiver heavy early in drafts if
teams are going to prioritize efficiency and short passing, right,
I mean, I think it's a it's a long conversation
that involves some research, but.
Speaker 4 (49:26):
I'm just like watching all these teams and all.
Speaker 1 (49:28):
These quarterbacks throw five yard passes and throw bubble screens
and basically hope their pass catchers can get run after
the catch.
Speaker 2 (49:35):
And so it's now I'm kind of like.
Speaker 1 (49:37):
You know, do we load up on wide receivers early
if this is how it's.
Speaker 2 (49:40):
Going to be and whatever. I don't know. I mean,
I've opened up.
Speaker 1 (49:44):
To all suggestions, but I just thought about that last night.
Speaker 3 (49:47):
Thanks Lomo for exactly I mean, you do.
Speaker 1 (49:52):
They even took Patrick Mahomes from us. They made him
a dump off guy for a while too.
Speaker 4 (49:55):
Like that's Joe Brady is doing that to Josh Allen
right now.
Speaker 2 (49:59):
It's terrible.
Speaker 1 (50:00):
Oh God, was sorry.
Speaker 4 (50:05):
Would you like take a moment, would you like.
Speaker 2 (50:06):
To take a moment to to you know, verbally scold
Joe Brady before you get into that.
Speaker 3 (50:12):
Uh yeah, Josh Allen has one game this year where
he's averaged over ten air yards per attempt, like Khalil
Shakira is the lowest air yards per attempt of all
wide receivers.
Speaker 4 (50:22):
That's your best receiver. Like it's all bubble screens. Uh.
Speaker 3 (50:26):
And and Mesh he runs Mesh like I played like
I do in Madden Man. Well, I'm like, yeah, the
computer can't figure this out except for its real life
humans on the other side, and they can figure it
out anyway.
Speaker 4 (50:37):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (50:38):
Devin Singletary, who for the first couple of weeks after
we lost Cam Skataboo, it was kind of a split,
and then last week we started to see Tracy a
little bit in the heavier side. This past weekend went
fully in that direction. Singletary played just thirty percent of
the snaps. He had no targets. Obviously, Tracy is the
(50:58):
better pass catcher of the two, but that was something
that we didn't really get prior.
Speaker 4 (51:02):
To this week. And then Singletary had just fourteen carries.
Low floor play.
Speaker 3 (51:08):
Right now, you're hoping for a touchdown if you use him,
probably need a touchdown to get to double digital Fantasy points.
He has nothing more than a handcuff, but he's a
handcuff on a bad team. So like in deeper league,
sure you could still stash Devin Singletary if you want,
but like I have him in a twelve team league
and I'm.
Speaker 4 (51:26):
One hundred percent dropping him this week.
Speaker 1 (51:28):
I was kind of surprise because I felt like Brian
Dable getting let go was gonna be the key to
unlock Devin Singletary. It is like, hey, man, like he's
gone now, like you can get opportunity. And it's like
Mike Kafka looked at it and the like he's like, nah, sorry,
this is not gonna work.
Speaker 2 (51:46):
Mind's the guy that hasn't played for you all year,
And it's like.
Speaker 1 (51:48):
It's officially like you could just let it go now.
Joe Mixon, I looked, was still rostered in like over
sixty five percent of NFL dot com leagues and you
could just you could say goodbye now he hasn't played
all year. The I mean like it's like when they've
asked Demiko, Ryan's about it, He's done everything short of saying,
who's Jill Mixon? Like, I mean they just have no
(52:09):
answers for like what's going on down there? And now
they've pretty much conceded that he's probably not gonna play
this season. I mean, if he somehow does come back
to play, you're probably look at it like what week,
what sixteen, seventeen eighteen, something like that, Like it's just
it's not worth it at.
Speaker 4 (52:24):
This But let him tell it. I mean he shot
back at our our guy I saw. I mean, like,
what are we doing? Like he thinks that he's playing
this year?
Speaker 2 (52:33):
I mean, like what I saw that?
Speaker 1 (52:35):
Like you know, I can't remember the exact quote was,
but basically like you know, fake news or something like that.
Speaker 4 (52:41):
But like Joe.
Speaker 1 (52:42):
Mixon has done nothing to suggest he's on track to play, right,
Like we don't even get we don't even get blurry
cell phone video like I want. I want, like I
at least want some big foot like footage right of
Joe Mixon.
Speaker 4 (52:56):
I still think that was That picture was taken on
a flip phone, probably a Razor motorole apart.
Speaker 1 (53:01):
Just I just I need something where it's like, you know,
somebody from a distance, like bro, I think that's Joe
Mixon working out on this high school field. Like I
need one of those at least something nothing so you know,
if you were holding on to hope that Joe Mix
was gonna somehow come back late in the season.
Speaker 2 (53:17):
Like you can you can move on from that.
Speaker 4 (53:19):
MG question. Yeah, we're on this topic. Do we see
Brandon Nyuk this year? I had hit you know, he got.
Speaker 1 (53:29):
I thought about making this a combo platter for this
segment too, just being like Joe mixing Brandon.
Speaker 4 (53:33):
I like, you can say bye to both of them.
Remember when it was week six? Was the timeline? Yeah, yeah, routes. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (53:41):
The only real question with Brandon Ayuk is where, where
or if he plays football next year. I assume he's
gonna play for somebody next year. It's definitely not going
to be the forty nine ers. It's not gonna be
the forty nine ers. I think a lot of teams
are gonna look around and be like do we really
need this head case? Like is he going to give
us enough production to mitigate the headaches causes?
Speaker 3 (54:01):
He he got the deal he wanted, tore his athl
and then was upset at the team like it makes.
Speaker 4 (54:07):
No sense to me.
Speaker 1 (54:08):
Yeah, it's funny and I again, you know how sometimes
you go back through your mind and back through incidents
and you realize that oh yeah, no, This was the
signal like way from the beginning, because remember that first year,
they loved it. They drafted him, they loved his talent.
They thought he could be a big part of it,
and you could see the flashes. But he also spent
a good chunk of that first year in Kyle Shanahan's
doghouse because he just didn't want to do a lot
(54:30):
of the things necessary.
Speaker 2 (54:31):
Right, Like they.
Speaker 1 (54:32):
Needed him blocking, Like they didn't even need him to
be a Puka nukua level blocker, right, They didn't need
him to be one of them. They just needed him
to try. They just need him to try, and he
would even try. And so it was that second year
when he started to break out because he finally started
to buy into this a little bit. I think he
looked around and he's like, oh, if I don't put
effort in for these other things and I can't be
(54:52):
on the field to catch the football. But I think
that that first year, Brandon Ayuk has come back, right
because he had some success, he held out, he got
paid and so then rookie year, Brandon, I you at
least a mentality started to come back again. And now
here we are in a situation where he got paid,
he decided he didn't really want to participate, and now
the Niners are like, okay, well we're just gonna We're
(55:14):
just gonna direct undeposit.
Speaker 3 (55:18):
He's not gonna get the same deal, right freshold in ACL,
like what are you doing?
Speaker 1 (55:23):
And ACL hasn't played in a couple of years. Yeah,
no he's not. It's just a notorious head case. Somebody
will offer him something, but like it, amagers. It might
be the kind of thing where we're three weeks into
training camp and suddenly it's like, oh yeah, hey, by
the way, you know, Brandon, it gets like a veteran
minimum or something like that.
Speaker 3 (55:44):
I've seen bills fans online be like that's you, and
I'm like, no, please, please get someone better.
Speaker 4 (55:48):
Like bro, you.
Speaker 2 (55:49):
Guys, just you guys, just you just you guys just
cleared the.
Speaker 1 (55:53):
Air of Stefan Diggs and that whole thing, Like I
don't think you really need.
Speaker 3 (55:57):
Yeah, I want, I want aj Brown, that's the dream,
but like I'll take there's better options out there.
Speaker 4 (56:02):
Give me DJ more before.
Speaker 3 (56:03):
Brandon, ayuk, you know, wow, all right, yeah that's a
little more.
Speaker 2 (56:11):
I don't think you're wrong, but that's a whole I
just don't want that head case.
Speaker 4 (56:15):
Isn't DJ more like twenty nine years old? Though, like
he's old, he's twenty old.
Speaker 3 (56:20):
I don't want him, but I would take him over Ayuk.
Speaker 2 (56:24):
He's old.
Speaker 1 (56:25):
He'll be twenty nine next to April. So yeah, that anyway,
enough of that conversation. Yeah, he's not that much younger.
Florida who's on the waiver wire that people should pay attention.
Speaker 2 (56:43):
To this week?
Speaker 3 (56:45):
Yeah he is twenty seven. Well I kind of guess that,
And it was right. Quarterbacks we spoke a lot about already.
Jacoby Brissett, Trevor Lawrence go back twenty minutes and here
why we both like them. For the Fantasy playoffs. Running Backs,
Kyle Mnungai played not only more and more carries like
he is looking like a big threat to DeAndre Swift.
There Kareem Hunt. Look, it took him thirty carries to
(57:08):
get one hundred yards, but they clearly love him, like
he's going to get the goal line work and everything.
Isaiah Pacheco looking like he could be back potentially as
soon as this week. Trey Benson, they opened up his
practice window right and they have a pretty favorable schedule
moving forward. We spoke about Devin Neil and then last
third Kansas City Chief. But Prashard Smith just looks explosive
(57:31):
out of that backfield. Maybe they start to hand him
more work. It's just more of a deeper stash wide receivers. Look,
you must add Christian Watson to Michael Wilson. Wilson looks
like they're best receiver right now, and Watson has taken over.
He has surpassed Romeo Dobbs. So that's all I need
to see there. Jim Ray d k Jaden Reed is
coming closer to a return. Luther Burden continues to be
(57:54):
the wide receiver three for the Bears, and they are
generating touches for him. Greg Dortch as long as Marvis
out is in play, Jayden Higgins as LQ spoke about
we've already discussed the Bengals wide receivers, and then look,
I threw in a couple of jets here, John Mitchi
and Donnie Mitchell that like Mitchell had like two hundred
air yards and Mitchi has been productive two weeks in
(58:16):
a row now. And then Jalen McMillan, he's another week away,
I think, but he is going to be back if
you need to get the receiver and then tight end.
Breton Strange, Dwan Johnson, Colson Lovelin, A J. Barner, Taysom Hill,
Fiel Johnson. Like we spoke about Strange and Barner already,
Juwan Johnson continues to be productive. Uh, Lovelin is getting
(58:37):
more utilized. So I'm not sure if I want to
start him weekly just yet, but he's getting to that
point and then the others are just kind of deeper
dark throws.
Speaker 1 (58:45):
I'll tell you that I'm I think I'm down as
starting Colston Loveland pretty much every week.
Speaker 2 (58:49):
He's he's tied in five over the last month.
Speaker 1 (58:52):
You know, he's ahead of He's just behind Travis Kelsey's
ahead of Mark Andrews, while I had a Tyler.
Speaker 4 (58:57):
Warren over the last month.
Speaker 1 (58:59):
Yeah, I'm kind of down with Colston Loveland at this point. Also,
watching Kareem Hunt yesterday, he runs like he has a
two by four shoved down his.
Speaker 2 (59:07):
Back, Like it's just straight up.
Speaker 1 (59:10):
Like Adam Rank used to say that Latavius Murray ran
like a door, and that's kind of what that's kind
of what claim Hunt runs like.
Speaker 2 (59:17):
Now, It's like a door It's.
Speaker 3 (59:18):
Just saying to me that every team knows that when
they're on the one, it's going to Kareem Hunt, and
yet it still works.
Speaker 1 (59:25):
And man, look, I grew up in the era of
Emmett Smith, where you knew he was going to get
the ball on third and short.
Speaker 4 (59:36):
It is good for fantasy fantas.
Speaker 1 (59:38):
A couple of years with Kareem Man like that rookie
year was amazing for Kareem a.
Speaker 4 (59:41):
Couple of seasons, and.
Speaker 1 (59:44):
This is definitely a different Kareem Hunt than we saw
earlier in his career. All right, there you go. That's
enough for this show. This has been just completely off
the rails from a.
Speaker 4 (59:54):
Minute I love these are the best shows, Marcus. From
the best show.
Speaker 2 (59:57):
Until minute sixty. This one has been off the rails.
Speaker 1 (01:00:00):
So kudos to all of you out there who stayed
with us and didn't just throw your phone out the window.
Speaker 4 (01:00:05):
We are grateful they stayed for the crash outs, bro,
that's all they I appreciate.
Speaker 1 (01:00:09):
I appreciate Kyrie Douglas are our producer hanging in with
us as well.
Speaker 4 (01:00:12):
But he sort of doesn't have a choice.
Speaker 1 (01:00:14):
But you know the fact that the fact that he
didn't just pull the plug on this one halfway through
and just say you guys are done.
Speaker 2 (01:00:19):
We're grateful for that, so anyway, don't.
Speaker 1 (01:00:21):
Do it for this edition of the NFL Fantasy Football Podcast.
