Sam Darnold signed a one year, ten million dollar deal
in Minnesota, and he has been as good as any
quarterback in that conference. I don't know if he is
in the conversation for all pro there's better quarterbacks in
the AFC, maybe, but I think you're talking about NFC quarterbacks,
NFC quarterbacks. I think he might be the best one
in the entire conference. This season, Jaden Daniels was like Gumby.

He's just in and out of every single play.

I would never count out Baker Mayfield again. I think

most devastating loss for a lot of teams.

Buccaneers just had to win and hold serve and then
the NFC South would be theirs in their control.

you're like, here we go, same old Buccaneers. And then
Baker Mayfield answers with the best performance he's had this season.

Baker Mayfield's now set career highs in passing yards with

Panthers are a viable opponent. They've got a team that

Tampa Bay absolutely rolled and for the second time in
three weeks, Baker Mayfield put a performance on screen. That's like,

been Ballyhood is the best free agent sign. Baker was
a free agent this offseason. He signed a one year
small deal last year with Tampa for four million.

The Giants of those first three teams are the only
pure team that absolutely needs a quarterback. Now, mind you,
the Raiders have won two games in a row, two

Peter Patriots versus Buffalo, that's gonna be probably Mitch Trubisky Buffalo,

You can't win that. He's playing for his job in
a lot of ways. You can't lose forty to nothing
in that game.

So I find it fascinating. The damage might not be
as bad as it felt because those first three teams
might not be in the market for a quarterback. So
Shradur Sanders, who wore Giants cleats after the game both
game and then he got blown out, you can't make
this stuff up. Every week on this show we hand

coach in Washington, Dan Quinn. We're head coach of the Week,
and I'll tell you what, Washington fans are pretty happy
with the results.

and of course that rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, who dan
Quinton's Day one said is the faiths of our franchise.
DQ went up against his former assistant Raheem Morris in
a game that both teams needed, and dan Quinn got
the best of them.

DQ against his former team, clinches a playoff.

Birth and the eleventh win for the Commanders, and did
so in front of their home crowd.

Week quarterbacks, and it's such a cool story for these two. Remember,
(10:30):
Jared Golf was traded for was essentially a bag of
footballs and the Rams would pay the Detroit Lions to
take him off his books. Then Sam Darnold was a
backup last year in San Francisco and signed for his
fourth team and did so on a one year deal
for ten million. And now as we head into week eighteen,
take a look at the numbers that these two have
put up through their first.

Seventeen weeks of the season.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
You were looking at two of the best quarterbacks in
the entire league, and you could argue the best two
quarterbacks in the NFC. The numbers tell a story. They're
all huge, and they're from both sides. Two quarterbacks that
previous teams well, they thought they could do better.

Then. The Jets, of course, moved on from Donald.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
The Panthers, of course moved on from Donald. The forty
nine ers, of course, stuck with Perty and didn't even
entertain the thought of giving Donald a big deal golf,
you know his Rams story, played in a Super Bowl,
and then after things went awry, they said, we're not
going to get over the top with this guy. They
went and got Matthew Stafford.

Here they are.

But I want to look more specifically at Donald, because
Donald's doing something that I think of the last few months,
has been really excited.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
For this game. They're going to be on the road,
they're in Detroit, and they.

Might be trailing late, and I don't think it's a
problem because Sam Darnald has done something in the last
two months that has turned in from being this cool
story and this former third overall pick who's finally found
the right coach and team to like the most clutch
player in football.

Guys.

Sam Darnald has five game winning drives in the months
of November and December.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
This is the game in.

Chicago where he went ninety yards in overtime to get
his team a touchdown score.

But it wasn't just that game. They did this in
week nine.

Then in consecutive weeks eleven, twelve, and thirteen they had
a game winning drive. And there was this one in
week fifteen in a game that everyone thought, all right,
the Seahawks, they've lost the game against the Packers, are
gonna come out and they'll be hot home.

They were they.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
Needed it, and Sam Donald's like, I got you, And
it wasn't check down run play. Sam Donald throws his
team to victory in all these games, five game winning ones,
and then we don't even count last week's. But you
go to week seventeen. The Packers are having this furious
comeback and Donald has to make a play and it's
third and two and Donald goes back and it's like,
(12:53):
all right, I've got to drop it right in the
bucket and cam Akers is there, and that doesn't even
count as a game winning or game tying drive. It
counts as Oh, here's Sam Donald just doing what he does,
getting the play done. Donald has been so good in
these fourth quarters, and I think if it comes down
to them being down laid against Detroit or them being
(13:15):
down ten points laid against Detroit, I think it's an
extra gear that the Vikings have found in Darnald.

And it's not let's run the.

Ball to victory and let's just trust our defense. It's
this play here, a rollout on third and two that
he does hit the guy. I'm excited for the quarterback matchup.
I love both their stories. I think they're so emblematic
of both these franchises.

And their fan bases.

But I'm also really excited to see if the Vikings
are down late, if Sam Darnald can do it one
more time and secure that number one seed. Jamie, it's
a quarterbacks league, and the Vikings and the Lions they
both have them. One of my favorite segments we do
on this show is the Fab five. It celebrates the
best rookie performances of the week, and I can say
this objectively, this was the best week of rookie performances

this show has ever seen.

The list was so long we had to narrow it down.

To five players that there will be people at home
who are out raged not seeing one of their team's
best performances included on the list. Let's start righting number five.
And I always love the quarterbacks. I think it's the
hardest job in sports. And Michael Pennock and a loss
was absolutely fantastic. We have to give our flowers to
Michael Pennix junior the performance that he had and in
big spots.

This team was down in.

The fourth quarter and they decided to go for it
on a fourth and eleven and he hit Drake London
on a huge pass to move the chains. And then
with everything on the line, a season on the line,
the Falcons on a fourth and goal from the thirteen
yard line, decided to go for it and Pennix converts
on a touchdown pass to Kyle Pitt. Michael Pennix in

two starts has already shown that he is capable of
taking this team into the playoffs if Tampa Bay somehow
loses and.

Maybe even winning a game.

Pennicks so competent in this one he went and it
had two hundred and twenty three passing yards touchdown on
a seventy one passer rating. But the key was that
final drive. But al play sixty eight yard touchdown drive
to tie the game with a minute nineteen remaining in
his second career start and did it on primetime.

Number four, we go for a guy who is having
an all time rookie season from the running back spot
for the Temp Bay Buccaneers.

and yards and yards. And in this game, Bucky Irving

One hundred and thirteen yards and he caught seventy seven receiving.

Ezekiel Elliott was offensive Rookie of the Years Dogs Peter
and Puka was breaking records for the Rams. And then
you've got Jamar Chase win historic season, Sakuan who had
a historic season, Kareem Hunt who is great.

They then, of course Gurley who is a first round pick.
This is rare air.

Bucky Irving a fourth round pick out of Oregon. Unbelievable
to see Bucky the Duck on this list. But Bucky
Irving is doing it in that number seven, which we

Number three is a guy who's putting up historic numbers
on one of the worst teams in football. But they
got to win on Sunday. Whether the fan base liked
it or not. Malik Neighbors was unstoppable Sunday against the
Colts for the Giants. Giants fans are torn here. This
cost him the number one overall pick unless some crazy
circumstance happens.

that dog in him and who does not care about
the future a team's draft order, but just wanted to
get a win and have a big performance in his

And the coolest thing is how young he is. Molik
Neighbors is twenty one years old. Guys twenty one years old,

and he's tearing up the league.

in the entire conference. This season, Jaden Daniels was like Gumby.

been Ballyhood is the best free agent sign. Baker was
a free agent this offseason. He signed a one year
small deal last year with Tampa for four million.

the best of them.

Birth and the eleventh win for the Commanders, and did
so in front of their home crowd.

Week quarterbacks, and it's such a cool story for these two. Remember,

Jared Golf was traded for was essentially a bag of
footballs and the Rams would pay the Detroit Lions to
take him off his books. Then Sam Darnold was a
backup last year in San Francisco and signed for his
fourth team and did so on a one year deal
for ten million. And now as we head into week eighteen,
take a look at the numbers that these two have
put up through their first.

Seventeen weeks of the season.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
You were looking at two of the best quarterbacks in
the entire league, and you could argue the best two
quarterbacks in the NFC. The numbers tell a story. They're
all huge, and they're from both sides. Two quarterbacks that
previous teams well, they thought they could do better.

Then. The Jets, of course, moved on from Donald.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
The Panthers, of course moved on from Donald. The forty
nine ers, of course, stuck with Perty and didn't even
entertain the thought of giving Donald a big deal golf,
you know his Rams story, played in a Super Bowl,
and then after things went awry, they said, we're not
going to get over the top with this guy. They
went and got Matthew Stafford.

But I want to look more specifically at Donald, because
Donald's doing something that I think of the last few months,
has been really excited.

For this game. They're going to be on the road,
they're in Detroit, and they.

Might be trailing late, and I don't think it's a
problem because Sam Darnald has done something in the last
two months that has turned in from being this cool
story and this former third overall pick who's finally found
the right coach and team to like the most clutch
player in football.

Sam Darnald has five game winning drives in the months
of November and December.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
This is the game in.

Chicago where he went ninety yards in overtime to get
his team a touchdown score.

But it wasn't just that game. They did this in
week nine.

Then in consecutive weeks eleven, twelve, and thirteen they had
a game winning drive. And there was this one in
week fifteen in a game that everyone thought, all right,
the Seahawks, they've lost the game against the Packers, are
gonna come out and they'll be hot home.

They were they.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
Needed it, and Sam Donald's like, I got you, And
it wasn't check down run play. Sam Donald throws his
team to victory in all these games, five game winning ones,
and then we don't even count last week's. But you
go to week seventeen. The Packers are having this furious
comeback and Donald has to make a play and it's
third and two and Donald goes back and it's like,

all right, I've got to drop it right in the
bucket and cam Akers is there, and that doesn't even
count as a game winning or game tying drive. It
counts as Oh, here's Sam Donald just doing what he does,
getting the play done. Donald has been so good in
these fourth quarters, and I think if it comes down
to them being down laid against Detroit or them being
(13:15):
down ten points laid against Detroit, I think it's an
extra gear that the Vikings have found in Darnald.

And it's not let's run the.

Ball to victory and let's just trust our defense. It's
this play here, a rollout on third and two that
he does hit the guy. I'm excited for the quarterback matchup.
I love both their stories. I think they're so emblematic
of both these franchises.

And their fan bases.

But I'm also really excited to see if the Vikings
are down late, if Sam Darnald can do it one
more time and secure that number one seed. Jamie, it's
a quarterbacks league, and the Vikings and the Lions they
both have them. One of my favorite segments we do
on this show is the Fab five. It celebrates the
best rookie performances of the week, and I can say
this objectively, this was the best week of rookie performances

this show has ever seen.

Michael Pennix junior the performance that he had and in
big spots.

The fourth quarter and they decided to go for it
on a fourth and eleven and he hit Drake London
on a huge pass to move the chains. And then
with everything on the line, a season on the line,
the Falcons on a fourth and goal from the thirteen
yard line, decided to go for it and Pennix converts
on a touchdown pass to Kyle Pitt. Michael Pennix in

two starts has already shown that he is capable of
taking this team into the playoffs if Tampa Bay somehow
loses and.

Pennicks so competent in this one he went and it

a seventy one passer rating. But the key was that
final drive. But al play sixty eight yard touchdown drive

his second career start and did it on primetime.

circumstance happens.
