(00:00):
Look at look at what we havehere. We have not one, but
two champions in the studio. WelcomeOrange, Cassidy, Chris Statlander, Welcome
to I Heart Radio. Welcome toKiss FM, Welcome to the Hot Tag
Podcast. Thank you for having us. Hello, Hello, welcome, actually
welcome back to Orange. Yes youwere here not too long ago. I
feel like you guys live in Chicagoat this point. Chicago is definitely a

(00:23):
w's I would if we had ahome. Daily's place is probably in Jacksonville.
Probably our home just by default becausewe lived there for over a year
basically COVID. But oh, wedon't say that word around here. We
will edit that out, Yeah, bleep it out so that people really guess
what I said. Chicago is definitelywhere we had you know, the first

(00:48):
all in I believe, And thisis the place that we always come back
to when you know, it's like, you know, you go away to
I don't know, if you goway to like college, or you go
away somewhere and you come back homeand like you go to your house and
the fires there and mom's cooking dinner, and this just smells right, you
know what I mean, that's tome smells right, feels right. Okay,

(01:12):
So fun fact about Chicago, livinghere for so long, it actually
smells like cookies. Sometimes there's achocolate there's a chocolate factory not too far
from downtown, and the wind isblowing in such a way you'll get a
whiff and you'll say that is lovelydelicious. Well, I want to thank
you guys, And before we getinto the questions here, the hard hitting

(01:36):
journalistic questions, just kidding, we'rejust gonna have fun and be stupid.
I want to commend you guys.Literally, you guys have like the roughest
schedule normally, but within the lastlike week, you've been all over the
globe. So it must be kindof cool going from the States to England.
Obviously back here in Chicago, itmust feel good to just hang out

(01:59):
here for a little bit of time. Yeah, definitely. It was a
lot of travel the past couple ofweeks, but it is, uh,
you know, you don't really thinkabout the travel as much because you know
what the finish line is, youknow what the what what why you're doing
it. And when we went toEngland, London at Wembley Stadium, where

(02:23):
was the biggest paid wrestling crowd everin the history of professional wrestling, it
was like eighty thousand people. Youknow, you when you and when you
experienced something like that, it's like, yeah, okay, I'll be tired.
I'm always tired, but you knowextra, yeah, absolutely, Do
you work better like that, likeon that pure adrenaline? Chris, would

(02:44):
you say? I don't know,because I feel like I haven't gotten a
chance to have a match where Iwas just fully rested and like just fully
ready to go, ready prepared.I heavily rely on caffeine a lot.
And you know, maybe I woulddo even better if I got a full

(03:05):
nights of sleep before wrestling, ButI don't get to do that often.
I've done it. I've before AUWwas a thing I've actually I've had a
show in like Maine, and thenI drove back home to Long Island,
and then I realized once I gothome at like seven in the morning,
that my next show was a matineeshow, and I was like, oh,

(03:25):
I gotta go now. So Ijust stayed up, I worked out,
showered, and then I just gotback on the road and then I
wrestled again, and then I drovehome right after. That's what I'm saying,
I don't think the fans understand thatschedule. How brutal it is like
for me to like do this totravel is whatever. But you guys are
putting your body in all this, you know, physical stress, so the

(03:46):
rest is important. So I commendto you guys. I just wanted to
say that to start off. Also, we're in the fields right now for
some reason. Do you know howgreat of an impact you guys have on
your fans in general? Do youunderstand that? Because it's the reason I
asked that is because I've been alifelong fan since I was eight years old,
right, So I used to watchas a kid with you know,

(04:10):
my stepdad and my siblings, andthen growing up as an adult with my
best friends. And I'm trying toget my wife and she's she's still watching
HDTV, but she'll come over eventually. But I met hul Colgan years ago
and I literally said to him,I said, I said, dude,
I'm like nice to meet you.You were the person. You were the
positive role model in my life whenI had none. And he takes off

(04:31):
his glasses and he says, brother, wow, that's deep, Like it's
just and I'm one person. I'mone human being. Do you guys realize
the impact that you have or doesit get lost sometimes? I probably both
because sometimes with how hectic our schedulesare, we just kind of keep going
and we're just worried about making itto the next place, making it through

(04:51):
the next match, you know, just making it home. Sometimes that sometimes
what we're doing this for, whichis for the fans ultimately, Sometimes you
don't realize that until we get tofortunately do a lot of meet and greets
and meet a lot of people allthe time, and the amount of people

(05:13):
that always come up to me andthey'll they'll just bring me gifts just for
being me, and I'm just like, this is I'm just I'm just out
here. That's not what you signup for. Yeah, I'm just living
my life, just doing what Ido. But it's it is a very
rewarding feeling to know that just tryingto be me for everyone and for the
world to see that like that justme and so much to people. I

(05:34):
think sometimes we get lost in ourown world and then we get a little
you know, we get stressed outabout other things or think about things a
little too much, and then whenI hear Jane playing and I walk out,
and there's always like, has tobe a small child dressed as me
waiting for me to give me afist bump. I I it's a very

(05:58):
positive reminder of hey, just it'sokay, we're doing good. Well,
just just so you know, foreveryone, and you guys know you probably
grew up as fans. Obviously, for every one kid you see dressed as
you, there's millions at home thatare taking it all in. There's a
little kid in you know, inthe middle of Iowa that's just idolizing you.
So I just think it's it's reallycool what you guys do and the

(06:21):
impact that you have. It's it'snot like anything else. There's no other
connection in the entertainment industry, likelike professional wrestling, and I don't I
always tell people that come to ashow, I say, you have to
come to a live show. Wecan watch on TV and it's very it's
wildly entertaining, but the live showis I especially me, the fans,

(06:43):
the people in the seat directly affectwhat I'm doing. They will affect my
performance, they will affect what happensdirectly. And I'm not saying that as
that's that's that's that's real. Iif you cheer loud or guess what I
do better, that's real. Ifand and and I think you can't go

(07:03):
watch a movie and then start cheeringfor Captain America and then he'll throw a
shield harder, that's just Hey,guess what Chris is gonna throw a shield?
Is alreadys gonna throw it on thatday? But like you know us,
it's it's it affects us absolutely well. Speaking of that live experience,
We've got a lot of them comingup, Yeah, a lot of them

(07:26):
here this weekend. I will tryand sneak my way into the United Center
on Sunday night. Because you can'thave all in and then not have all
out. I mean that just doesn'tmake sense. Impossible, impossible, right,
So all out is Sunday, bothof you huge matches. Yes,
talk about your opponents and and whatwe can expect from from that night overall.

(07:46):
We'll start with you, Chris. All right, So this is my
first ever pay per view title defenseas the TBS Champion. I've had a
bunch on television, but this ismy first ever pay per view as me
walking in champion. So it's that'sa huge moment, especially after it took
so long for me to get tothis point due to both my knee injuries

(08:07):
where I tore both my acls, not at the same time, so it's
even longer time off, and thatwas such a huge uphill battle in itself,
just recovering from one, having itall happen again, having to recover
from it, being like, amI even still worthy of having a title?
Just all the mental struggles that gowith it. It really it really

(08:30):
takes a toll on you a lot, and I try to not think about
it when it's time for me towrestle, because that's in the moment.
Wrestling is what's important. It's notabout me, it's not about anybody else.
It's about that performance and making surethat it's as I'm doing the best
that I can, and it justit took so long to get to this

(08:50):
point. Ruby is someone that I'vewrestled twice before, I've never beaten her,
so it's a lot about redemption forme. It's a lot about proving
that I'm a worthy champion to myself, and there's a lot about proving to
the whole world that this is soimportant. Yeah, like the t best

(09:11):
title is just as important as anyother title. The women are just as
important as any other wrestler. Thatwe're not women wrestlers. We're all just
wrestlers. And I have a lotto prove Sunday, so I can't wait
to watch you prove it. Andyeah, Ruby Is is an incredible opponent.
But I can tell I can hearthe emotion in your voice. This
feels like it's going to be amoment when you walk out there. But

(09:33):
I feel as though as soon asyou do walk out there, it's just
like a whole new, a wholenew Chris dat Lander just comes out.
Absolutely. Yeah, the Chris thatis right about to walk through the curtains
is a totally different person from theChris that is right outside the curtains in
front of the whole crowd. Idon't know why. It's because it's still
me either way, But the secondI step out there, I'm like,

(09:56):
this is it, this is me. I know what I'm doing. I'm
good to go. And and wegot a old Orange Cassidy over here,
who hasn't really had a lot ofmatches recently at all, has been kind
of keeping it quiet just kidding. The man has been wrestling and winning for
I don't know, god how long, guy by the name of John Moxley.
Is this Uh is this the toughestopponent you faced since since holding the

(10:20):
International title. I don't want tosit in this chair and say it's not,
because I'd be a liar. Becausehe is. He he is the
toughest. I mean, we know, I'll know it is. Uh.
You can't. People listening to thiscannot see, but I have giant fork
marks on my forehead and it's actuallythey're actually like there. It's like,

(10:41):
oh my god, it looks infected, but it's not. Yeah. Uh,
that's always not so much. It'salways fun. Yeah, not here,
not there, But like right,Uh, I've been the International Champion
for almost a year. I've defendedthe I've defended the championship over thirty times.

(11:05):
I felt like for the past sixmonths, I've been wrestling every single
week for this championship because you know, four years ago when I started here
at a w I was that thething that everybody was like, Oh this
this ain't gonna work. Who isthis? Who is this guy? He's
just a joke, He's he's justa mascot. He's making a mockery of

(11:26):
professional wrestling. And then we cutto now where I am wrestling more than
anybody else, I am defending morethan anybody else. I'm out there doing
it, and I and and andI am. I am the champion.
I am the Champion. I'm theInternational Champion. I this championship symbolizes my

(11:48):
growth in a w So to saythat on Sunday I'm just gonna just just
just roll over for John Moxley isthat just can't happen. So this is
probably the most important match of mylife, coming off the second most important

(12:09):
match in my life where I bleda bucket in front of eighty thousand people
in Wembley Stadium. So Chicago isa special place for me because this is
where I first had my first singlesmatch against Pack at Revolution. So to
come now and have this match againstJohn Moxley, I think if you're an
AW fan, you've been falling fora while now you know how important this

(12:31):
match is to to me and tothis championship. Yeah, if you can
somehow get tickets, do it.I don't know if there's much left pay
per view as well as an optionman can't wait for the entire card.
It looks absolutely epic, and youknow the Chicago crowd is going to be
wild, like we always are, switching gears. If you could fantasy book
yourself, think about this with anywrestler of all time, dead or alive,

(12:56):
with a stipulation, what would thatbe. I think my opponent would
be my Bed, and I wouldand I would have to and we go
probably go an iron man match, which is probably believe we have to go
a full twenty four hours just sleeping. Chris, what's your answer? The
Bed wins, the Bed always undefeated. Yeah, I'd probably have to pick

(13:18):
my emotions as my opponent. I'dbe wrestling with my emotions. Uh,
and it would be a last manstanding. Oh, it's just so funny
because we just gave total non answers, which is why I love you guys.
Yeah, we don't want, wedon't want normal. Normal is not
allowed here. What's on your mountrushmore? Give me one of finishers of

(13:41):
all time, like your favorite finisherthat is not your own, that you've
seen or maybe that you've taken, that you think belongs up there, like
the like the Lincoln or the Washingtonof wrestling finishers. Well, there's no
finisher that I've taken and I'm goingto say I love because that means I
lost. Okay, So what's thewhat's the toughest finisher you've ever taken?

(14:01):
Uh? Old man, I don'tknow. Hey, here's a fun fact.
They all hurt. There's a reasonwhy people mus him as a finisher
finisher. I took this past Idon't know when this is gonna be released,
but uh, this past Wednesday onDynamite, I wrestled Penta, and
let me tell you something Penta is. He's a he's dangerous and he's good.

(14:26):
He's very good. And that wasand that was for the championship,
even though I'm wrestling on Sunday.Sometimes you want you one with a crucifix.
We saw, Yeah, sometimes yougotta do it. He gives me
that thing where he grabs my armsand my legs and then jams my head
into the mat just because that's freshon my neck. Yeah. That that

(14:52):
that's that's that's what all right. We'll put that on the mountain Rushmore.
We are music station as well.I got to know about your music styles,
your favorite artist. We're gonna makea playlist here of all the celebrities
that we interview and you guys isgoing to go on there. Favorite artist
and song that you would put onthis playlist? You get one? I
know, any any genre. Imean I know. I'm going to tell

(15:16):
you right now what it is.Mine? No, mine not you go
first, because I've got all right. I'm putting a do a Leipa physical
on it. Oh what did notsee that coming at all? This is
what happens. Are you a doa Leipa fan? Orange Cassidy? Of
course? Uh? But then Ilike, also then I would I would
also maybe talk about putting some NewOrder on there, because yes, little

(15:39):
little we're all a little goth andon the inside. And then I'm waiting,
I'm really buying time. So Chris, you did new do Alipa a
New Order. That's great. I'mgonna pick just because this song makes me
very happy. I'm gonna do Dancingin the Moonlight by King Harvest. Dancing

(16:00):
in the Moonlight by King Harvest oneof my favorite King Harvests song. It's
just that that version of it,it's just so like mellow and upbeat,
but it's it just makes me feellike were also gonna put bony M Daddy
Cool on there too. Now youguys are speaking like like tongues. I
don't understand. That's okay, we'lllook right. People will google by M.

(16:22):
Careful, careful, careful, carefulgoogling those those kids they know respute
and bony M does rescpute in thatsong. That's a TikTok thing. And
I don't know, I miss Vine, Remember Vine, I do? That
was the original TikTok and then itwent away and then Vine it was the
best. Whoever whoever invented Vine mustbe like really depressed, right, no,
right, but didn't didn't facebook byit? Probably that sounds about that.

(16:45):
This is this is this is vineChat. Now, welcome back to
chat, guys. I appreciate thetime. I'm gonna do a thing.
It's called emoji association, like wordassociation, but emoji. You gotta give
me the emoji pops in your head. I'm just gonna give you an a
w wrestler and give me the emoji. Okay, So first one we'll start
with is, let's go John Moxleyorange emoji pumpkin pumpkin head, Jack Colan.

(17:15):
I was thinking, uh, thewrench is there a wrench one?
I feel like there is. There'sgotta be a tools, like it's a
wrench in hammer. Yeah, wellI was, I was thinking a tool.
I don't know, I get,I understand what you're saying. How
about Soreia an emoji for Sreya, probably the ghost winky ghost, like the

(17:38):
snapchat guy. That's good. Iwas thinking a nail. I'm just thinking
of you're you're in You're at theworkpench. You're in the work pench right
now. And my dad's a mechanic. I don't know she it makes sense
anything mechanical. How about let's godon callus what emoji? Probably seriously,

(18:03):
this is the first the apostom myhead. Probably they the building, the
building emoji. Okay, association right, it just popped in my head,
right. I was thinking, likethe practice because of all the artwork and
stuff that he's been associated with,uh, like the painters tray with the
different Bob Ross guy, like Iforget what it's called, but that with

(18:30):
all the colors, and I shouldknow that word. I know, I
know it, but I can't thinkof it right now. Doesn't matter.
The first person that calls and ohwait, this isn't live right now,
No, nobody's calling. That's abit. Yeah, last one will go.
Let's go young bucks emoji. Ithink there's amoji where like two like

(18:52):
there's two heads and they're both havetheir hands up, you know what I
mean. Yeah, for some reason, I was thinking the one that's like
the half wing put the tongue outlike that. I was thinking that.
I was thinking the twin girls thatdance. Yeah, yeah, because that's
as close to and they're and they'rethey're light on their feet. Yes,
that's the one. Okay, guys, cannot wait for for Sunday and Saturday
