¿Sabías que una de las canciones más populares de los años noventa tiene su nombre gracias a un error de verbos compuestos? En el exitoso “Hit Me Baby One More Time” de Britney Spears, la frase “hit me” fue un error. “Hit me” significa “¡golpéame!” pero la canción no busca expresar una súplica de violencia.  Los compositores suecos pensaban que “hit me” significaba “contáctame,” cuando la expresión correcta sería "hit me up”.

Pero no podemos culpar a los escritores por su equivocación. “Hit up” significa “contactar,” pero “hit on” significa “coquetear” y “hit off”, más específicamente “hit it off” significa “llevarse bien con alguien que acabas de conocer”.
