¿Sabías que “up to” tiene por lo menos cinco significados diferentes en inglés? Puede significar “la decisión de alguien”, “con ganas de”, “hasta”, “alcanzar”, o “lo que alguien está haciendo”. ¡Por eso el contexto es tan importante!
A veces también sucede con los verbos compuestos, o “phrasal verbs,” que uno tiene dos o más significados. Por ejemplo, “make up” puede ser “inventar” como en “make up a story” (inventar una historia) o “recuperar” como en “make up a test” (recuperar un examen).
