Speaker 1 (00:00):
Inaugurl cruise happens over the weekend. A ton of fun,
the best nothing compared to this trip. I genuinely mean it.
It was without the most fun I've ever had doing
radio Like it was just awesome. And we're going to
announce the next cruise and all of that in the
coming weeks. So it gives you, you know, a ton

(00:23):
of time to budget and book and we'll get people
on who are on the cruise and they'll tell you
about it. You can go on our social media check
out everything that we did. It's worth it. Fun, happiness, joy,
death not on our cruise. But so the question I

(00:45):
want to ask right now is eight hundred four O
nine ninety three ninety three. If you are on vacation,
when do you want to hear about the bad news?
So I don't know if she wants to say her
name or not.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
I had her number on the thing. We could probably
call her if you're going on too, she might answer.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
We can't. Let's call her, but like, ask her if
she wants to to talk about this. One of the
people that were on the cruise with us, she found
out that her grandpa passed away while on the boat.
Right you were with her when she found out. She
I was sitting at the bar.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
She was coming over to get a drink after I
guess finding out the news.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Was she crying?

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Uh, I don't know, because she was in the water.
I guess I don't know. I mean her eyes were
kind of red.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Hey, if you're going to cry in the water.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
She was just more as shocked because she was like,
did they really just tell me this vibe on a cruise?

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Yeah, eight hundred and four and ninety three ninety three.
When do you want to find out about it? Because honestly,
I uh, I want to know right away. I do.
Like I think about, you know, when my great papa,
who I've talked about a billion times to me is
like my favorite human being to ever exist. I have

(02:01):
tattoos for him and everything. He passed away. He passed
away in the morning. He passed away before the show.
My parents weren't going to tell me until after we
got off the air. Someone had texted me though, like
I'm so sorry for your loss, and then that's how
I found out. I was a little bit frustrated with

(02:21):
my parents because I wanted to know immediately, even if
I'm on vacation. And maybe I'd rather find out on
vacation because at least I can then go, you know what,
let's let's have at least a little bit more fun.
And and Terry jessicase she's not picking up, don't worry.

(02:44):
She's probably you know, she's a nurse. She's probably working
right now and all that. I don't want to bother her.
But what about you guys, when would you want to know?

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Tell me after let me enjoy my fun and then
I'll get to the serious stuff when I get back home.
I don't want to know on my vacation. Yeah, I
don't want to hear that bad.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
Ignorance is bliss And I feel like, also not to
be selfish, but to be selfish you're on a vaca, like,
for example, we're on the Joe Show cruise. Were there
to have fun with you.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
Wanted?

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Yeah, but like you're gonna be spending the next three
days like thinking everyone's good.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Yeah, I'm also Joe. I'm in the middle of a ship.
There's not much I can do and be like, hey,
turn this boat around and get back to port where
it's like it depends on the vacation. So if I
was like it in Texas, for example, I would get
on the first flight back home and be like that,
but I'm in the middle of Yeah, you got to
feel that every situation is a little bit different. But yeah,

(03:41):
I would prefer you tell me, you know, unless it
was somebody who's like really immediate and close to me.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Didn't you find out the late great Nikki g passed
away during the show?

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Yeah I did. Do you wish you found Do you
remember that? I remember that? Do you wish you found out?
How do you like? Do you wish your dad told
you after? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (04:00):
I do, because you can't focus in that situation. It
was something that was so tough for not just me
but my parents.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
And I'm like, you want to make sure they're okay.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Yeah, And and people too when they find out about
like death news or something serious, they want to tell
you right away where because they're emotional.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Yeah, Like, if there's bad news, I don't want to
hear about it during the show because I'm gonna be
thinking about it the whole time and I just know
my energy so you're going to completely shift?

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Hey, Abby?

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Yes?

Speaker 5 (04:30):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (04:30):
First off, before we even say anything, I am so
sorry for your loss your husband passed away. How long
ago was that?

Speaker 4 (04:40):
It was almost nine years.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Ago, and you guys have kids, Yeah, and your son
wasn't too happy with you. What exactly happened?

Speaker 4 (04:54):
So my husband died like first thing in the morning,
and I actually made the choice to uh leave the
kids in school.

Speaker 5 (05:01):
They were five and six at the time, and when
they came home, they were just so happy.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
I was I didn't want to crush that world yet,
and so I waited until later. It was like later
in the evening when I finally did, you know, have
that conversation. And it wasn't until months later, and my son,
who was six, it came out that he resented the
fact that I had waited.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Was he sick if you don't mind me asking, No,
it was.

Speaker 5 (05:31):
It was sudden. There was a car accident. Was unexpected.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Yeah, yeah, So I mean I feel like there's no
right way to do that. You were kind of right,
you know.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
And then being so young, and I can understand you
not wanting to take the joy from them, but also
being a kid. And like you said, it was you
said it was a car accident. Yeah, so they were
probably waiting for dad to come home.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (05:56):
Yeah, I was around that time.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Okay, yeah, question for you with that, how is your
son now with you? Like, I'm assuming you guys have
talked about it, and I mean ten years later, you're always.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
Got yeah, and I haven't really asked, like you know,
if he's still remarried, he might not remember those feelings
at that time or like remember like wish I had
told him sooner or anything like that. But they're both
kids are at the point where they're comfortable hearing about
dad and talking about them and it's bittersweet, of course,
but they want to know more.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
So Yeah, well, Abby, you got a guardian angel and
you've had one for a long time. And uh, yeah,
you dating, you get remarried, what's you deal with that? No?

Speaker 4 (06:44):
I did date for a while, but then it's just
there's nothing real.

Speaker 5 (06:46):
Good out there.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
No, I get it. I get it. Well listen, Abby,
Uh we'll find you a sexy man. Okay, I'm on
a mission now from God. All right, Abby, I love
you and thank you for sharing your story. Here she
is Kate. Did they tell you what we're talking about?

Speaker 5 (07:08):
Yes, you were talking about me. How you guys do it?

Speaker 1 (07:12):
How are you doing? A lot happened on the cruise.
Let's first talk about grandpa though. How are you feeling?

Speaker 5 (07:21):
I am, it's still surreal. You know, it's hard, but
we're all together and our family is together, so that's
what's important, and we're just going to celebrate the heck
out of them.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
Was it sudden? Did you know, like, was he sick?

Speaker 6 (07:36):
So the morning before we went on the cruise, actually
I found out you went into the hospital he was
having shortness of breath. But then he was doing better
and we didn't have service. And then Sunday when we
got service, is when my sister reached out to me
and told me that they were going to be taking
him off life support. And but thirty minutes later when

(07:57):
I got the call that he had passed.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
You know, we've been discussing what we would have wanted,
you know, how we would have want to hear about
the news, would have be on the cruise or not?
Were you happy with not? How to I ask this?
Was that how you wanted to find out or did
you wish that they waited till after? No?

Speaker 6 (08:26):
I would have been very upset if they would have waited,
I would have I wanted to know right then and there.
I would have been very sad if I got home
after having a fantastic time and heard that. So at
least with you know, having it happened while I was
there with you guys was a blessing. You guys completely
turned everything around.

Speaker 5 (08:45):
You know. We celebrated him, We did shots for him,
just like he would have wanted. Yeah, so that meant
so much to me.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
Well, let's end this on a happy note. Okay, yes,
did you have fun at least?

Speaker 5 (09:00):
Oh my god, and Alex had so much fun. Not
waiting until next year. I'm waiting for you guys to
announce it, like I want to win this money, so
I buy my crewise.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
You're coming next year. We have to make that happen.
You and Alex. Alex is fun for sure.

Speaker 5 (09:17):
Are you booked out?

Speaker 1 (09:18):
Question for you real quick? Did you ever go to
daily eats?

Speaker 3 (09:23):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (09:24):
God? The name a house?

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Okay, this is an offair You and I are going
to have an off air conversation at some point. Well, listen,
I love you as always.

Speaker 6 (09:35):
Just love you.

Speaker 5 (09:36):
Love you guys a little blast.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
Thinking about your praying for your family and uh. I
worked out for the first time since the cruise yesterday
and I smelt like alcohol. Seriously, right the guy was
working out with did you drink before this? I'm like no,
I drank all week long, though.

Speaker 5 (09:53):
Oh my god, our cheeseburgers and Margarita's coming out of my.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
Poor It's so good. Kate, have a good rest of
your day, Okay.

Speaker 5 (10:00):
I love you you too, Love you guys, Nye.
