Speaker 1 (00:00):
I stay away from Facebook Marketplace for this specific reason,
and honestly, it's all because of Jed and his like.
I know that you've had success stories in there, but
I also feel like there's been a lot of times
where you're like, I got scammed, Oh yeah, and you
got scammed yet again, well almost almost scammed.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
So there's this girl on Facebook that I noticed yesterday.
It came up in my recommended It says beware of
this scammer. So as a person who put an advertisement
on Facebook Marketplace saying, hey, beware of this girl who
messaged me about buying some sports memorabilia. Okay, well, it
says please do not buy anything from this woman. It
says that she works at a hospital here in Florida

(00:38):
but is from Perth, Australia, which is also kind of
sketch to begin with, but she says, please do not buy.
My daughter was scammed out of it, and then she
posted this girl's Facebook profile calling out the scammer on
the Facebook marketplace ad. And I'm glad she did because
had she not done that, I would have inquired and said, Hey,
what kind of sports memory Abelia do you have for sale?

(01:00):
So I love it when the scammer gets called out
and get gets exposed. And we've had a couple of
scammers come on Judge Joe Show. We've ruled that it's
not good to scam people. And I think that it's
important that we let everybody know that Facebook marketplace, there
are still good people out there, letting you know who
is scamming and who is not.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
I know, was that crazy?

Speaker 4 (01:22):
Actually?

Speaker 2 (01:23):
I don't know what. I wish I had a direct
line to Zuckerberg to knock on his door and be like, hey,
we got to fix Like there's got to be like
a third party the verification process for selling stuff on Facebook,
because I can't tell you how many times I've gotten scammed,
whether I've bought in trading cards on Facebook, whether I've
gotten froniture on Facebook. I've sold one thing on Facebook

(01:46):
and the guy hasn't complained about it yet, So I
don't know. I'm in the I'm in the clear as
a seller. As a buyer, I've gotten got.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
So many times eight hundred four nine ninety three ninety three.
It's eight hundred four own nine ninety three ninety three.
How did you catch the scammer or not even necessarily?
How did you catch the scammer? But you know what
was the scam And well, yeah, I suppose that is
what I want to know. How'd you catch him? Eight
hundred four of the nine ninety three ninety three you

(02:14):
could text in it ninety seven seven to two zero.
The only time I've well, I don't say only because
I'm sure I've been scammed before. I just still don't
even know I got scammed. Uh. But the only time,
like I really like figured out, like, oh my god,
we got scammed was my mom wanted to get me
a pair of Jordans, and at the time she refused
to pay like the two hundred dollars at a pair

(02:36):
of Jordan's are They're very expensive shoes. She had heard
from a guy that used to coach me in football
that he resells Jordan's, and because of our relationship, he
was gonna get me a pair of brand new Jordans
for one hundred dollars pair of elevens and if you
know elevens, take that back, they were twelve. If you

(03:01):
know twelve's, they say Jordan in a line, Well, mine
said Ordon, and then it said and then it said
a because the letters kept falling off and the guy
his name was Humphrey. What is a scammer name too?

Speaker 3 (03:19):
It is.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Yeah, Humphrey went to Saint Mary's High School in Michigan,
and he was supposedly taking care of me. And then he,
you know, he he says, well, listen, guys, you don't
have any Jordans. It happens. It's just like a defect,
no exactly. And then I started to collect the shoes.
I collected Jordan's for a couple of years. Ain't never

(03:42):
had that happen to any of my Ordens. Okay, they
were all Jordan's and they still are Jordans. That was
really the only like scam that kind of like happened.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Scammed.

Speaker 4 (03:53):
I have not been scammed yet, because I'm telling you,
I do enjoy Facebook Marketplace, and I do feel because
I haven't been scamed yet. It's eventually gonna happen, and
I'll be talking about it on air with you guys
sometime soon. But I've not been scammed yet, thankfully.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Yeah. Eight hundred four nine ninety three ninety three. Like
I said, let's talk to uh, let's talk to Steph.
Steph is in Sarasota, and I guess that there was
a was the scammer in Sarasota? What happened? Break it down?

Speaker 5 (04:25):
Yeah, So it was in Sarasota and we were messaging
back and forth and the address that he gave was
was actually just three minutes away from where we lived.
And he was like, oh, I got another buyer. If
you want me to hold it for you, send me
two hundred dollars right now. And I was like, I'm
actually like one minute two minutes away from you right now,
and he just stopped communicating. And when I made it

(04:47):
to that place, it was just the office of some apartments.
It wasn't even really an apartment.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
How scared? Not even necessarily. Maybe you weren't scared, but
what's going through your head as you pull up to
this place that's not what it actually was.

Speaker 5 (05:03):
Well that was my husband and we were like, oh,
this is like a really nice stuf or whatnot. I
guess you could I get it. We're really like that
close to it, so we weren't really scared, but once
he stopped messaging, we were just kind of sketchy. And
then once we saw it was the office of the apartments,
we were like, oh, this is a scam.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Yeah, can you sue a scammer? I would assume you
can't right now.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
I want to go through all that.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Yeah, prove it and you have to get to like
their legal idea and haven't getting served. It's like a
lengthy process.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
And not a Yeah, a lot of people don't want
to do all that.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
You can take it to the Joe Show.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
Yeah you can. Yeah you've been jo.

Speaker 6 (05:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (05:43):
He immediately like deactivated his account too, And you know,
I reported it on Facebook and.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
I was like, well, sorry, thank you. Who's this?

Speaker 2 (05:56):
What up?

Speaker 1 (05:56):
Nick?

Speaker 7 (05:57):
Nick?

Speaker 1 (05:57):
You got scammed? Or are you the scammer? No?

Speaker 7 (06:03):
I almost got scammed.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
What happened.

Speaker 7 (06:07):
Some guy was trying to sell a skid steer.

Speaker 6 (06:10):
And what this guy was doing was he was.

Speaker 7 (06:13):
Renting these skid steers from rental places, taking the trackers
out of them, selling them for a third of the price,
and then you know, two weeks later, the skid steer
would be reported stolen. A skid steer like a trackloader,

(06:35):
like a little excavator machine.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
I don't know. Yeah, we're going to do.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
Hey, Nick, we're dumb.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
Yeah steer Okay, So it's okay, it's like one of
these but a smaller one a little bobcat.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Right, okay, yeah, a tractor.

Speaker 7 (07:00):
Kind of.

Speaker 6 (07:00):
So this guy was.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Nick, we got we gotta hang out with you. You
got to fill us in on all of this.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Okay, all right, Nick, ain't feeling it.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
No, Nick's just trying to wake up. It's early, right, Nick.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
You just Nick wake up?

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Well, daddy, listen, if you wake up at nine thirty,
it's early.

Speaker 5 (07:20):
Yeah. So I was looking.

Speaker 8 (07:23):
I was in the market for kids here, and I was,
I was, I was online, and you know, these these
prices were way too good to be true, but you know,
I just had to see man.

Speaker 4 (07:38):
Yep.

Speaker 7 (07:40):
As I was, I was looking at the pictures and
on one of the skid steers has showed a rental
company and the and the business name and the phone number.
So I ended up calling that company. I was like, hey,
you guys selling any skid steers And they were like,
uh no, we don't have any skits stieres for sewing.
I was like, oh, well that's weird. You guys have
one online right now with your name on it for

(08:02):
ten thousand dollars. And they skits theirself for thirty forty
thousand dollars. And he was like Oh, that's funny. We
actually have one of those skitsteers missing right now and
we're trying to find it.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
Somebody stolen and trying to sell with it alone.

Speaker 7 (08:18):
Yeah, exactly, and you know, two weeks later it become
reported stolen. And then if you're caught with it, what
right you're you bought it and you're out of talk
at ten grand for this machine.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
The best life he's like, and the scammers still trying
to figure out what.

Speaker 4 (08:43):
Nick.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
You call him more often. I love when you call him.
We'll talk to you later.

Speaker 6 (08:48):
Carmen, Hi, Well, my story is kind of weird. I'm
an old lady. I live in Port Charlotte. When I
was trying to raise or I did raise four kids
as a single mom. My, my oldest son wanted a
pair of Jordan's a lot like you. So Mom went
to an auction and the first thing I bought was

(09:10):
a great big box of toilet paper for like ten bucks,
and it was like sandpaper. And the second I could think, yeah,
that's what my kids said, Mommy, please don't go back
to the auction then, So then I bought him the Jordans,
and I was all happy with myself Christmas Day comes

(09:31):
and I am videotaping him with a borrowed video camera.
He takes them out and he's like, oh my gosh,
and they're two left feet. No. Yes, so my baby
boy never got his Jordan's I felt so bad for him.
And yeah, but that was our Christmas story. But there's

(09:54):
always a silver lining that year, the doctors. That was
an emergency room nurse. The doctors got together. Yeah, they
adopted my kids and they each got like really fantastic
presence from the doctors on Christmas morning. So it was

(10:15):
a good a good year. And what's important his family.
I appreciate. I appreciate you guys. You make me smile.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
I love you. Carmen Ashley Jet Have you guys ever
heard the song All I Want for Christmas is my
two front teeth. Yeah, Carmen's son was saying all I
went for Christmas is two left feet.

Speaker 6 (10:40):
It was, you know it trying not to laugh, but man,
it was pretty funny. No, but you know, and he
tells his kids, my grandkids, now, we don't complain about
what you get. I got three left feet.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
Carmen. Yeah, do your do your grandkids live in Florida
with you.

Speaker 6 (11:00):
Yes, everyone, I'm really blessed. I have seven grandkids. Everyone's
in Florida, and my children all live in Florida, so
we are really a happy family. We try to get
together a lot for the holidays and it's always like
for Thanksgiving, we have nineteen people. Wow, the kids and

(11:23):
the partners. No, that's not it, and usually seven dogs.
So dog here is a condiment.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
That's my secret. How many? So Carmen, break that down
for me.

Speaker 6 (11:35):
So you have you have four kids, right, you have
how many grandkids their partners?

Speaker 2 (11:41):
Yep?

Speaker 6 (11:42):
And then myself and my husband and then we have
each of us usually have right now, I lost the
Golden Retriever and my lab so all I have is
the little heind fifty seven. But they all have their dogs.
So everyone brings it over and if we have neighbors
that don't have family, they're allowed to come over. So

(12:05):
we always have a great time and we have traditional turkeys,
and we also because I'm Puerto Rican, we also have
to have.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Yes, Carmen, Carmen, that's what I want to do. What
I got four pack of tickets to Monster Jam but
I got a couple of these. What if I gave
you what if I gave you, because I know you
got a big family. What if I gave you three
of those four packs? Could I give you twelve tickets

(12:35):
to Monster Jam? Do you think that would be enough?

Speaker 6 (12:38):
You're making me freaking cry and I'm driving.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Okay, well, be careful because then all you're gonna win
for Christmas is a new car. Don't crash, crash, Carmen.

Speaker 6 (12:51):
You are amazing. I didn't call to get any prize
or anything, I know, but if anybody else, maybe somebody
else might need it, you know more. But that is
so generous of you. That is so kind, Carmen.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
I love you. Thanks for being such a great mom
and a grandma. I love my grandma. I'm thinking about
my grandma. Now I'm gonna put you on hold so
we can get your information and we'll make sure that
everyone can go to Monster Jam.

Speaker 6 (13:20):
Okay, all right, thank you so much. Oh my gosh,
I love you. I love you too.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
All right, Carmen.

Speaker 6 (13:30):
I'm going into hysterical hispanic syndrome right now, ya ya
ya ya chack.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
All right.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
I love you, Carmen.

Speaker 8 (13:40):
All right, bye bye, bye bye.

Speaker 3 (13:43):
A favorite moment of the day was just now, don't
even ask me love, Carmen.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
What about you chat?

Speaker 2 (13:50):
Jes Biden was probably talking with the Gucci earlier, the
Gucci Boyci that's okay, we'll pull a bag one, don't
shoot worry. We'll get the touch back.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
Not when he gets the touch.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
That's probably what he's gonna say when he listens back
to that podcast.
